and that's a locked in number we physically have those kids here today and then 9430 includes growth of 363 kids for this year yep and that's subject to change when you talk about subject to change that's just a certification because two schools might be claiming the same kid that's correct so there's just true up in the accounting to figure out where the kid truly was so I mean that's that happens every year it's normal and what's the the adjustment that usually occurs we have a sec so we that's money we would be funded on for the first six months of this budget and then we get another number in February February 1st this year I think and we we lose our midterm grads at that point our mid-year grads but that's the second number that we get good for them we won't be a graduate we do we just like keep their funding and the state to their credit the general assembly is working on that and has made some efforts in that area to help us out so that we can reward schools that allow that to happen but I'm looking for a 2016 being a school of 8 000 kids to 2022 2003-23 being 9 400 kids yep that's 1400 new kids and yeah not too long of a Time I remember I remember sitting through it was it may have been 16 or 17 and you were talking about the growth in Center Grove and said the growth that we experienced this year was the growth that we projected for 2019 2020.

and ball sent up all the way stolen from diascali by done and done chases down American Marion able to boot it out of bounds could have potential potentially been some trouble there for Islam a little bit of a miscommunication fortunately shut it down another sub coming in for Ben foreign s being replaced by Samir Khan on the far right wing defensive position and Khan with the throwing launches it to Monroe Monroe battling sleeper minnichog having some offensive zone time to Prezi Joe preszell chips it up looking for McCarthy McCarthy a one-on-one with soupsack and forces subsec to go out of bounds Josh Riley will take the throw in puts it to Richard one-on-one with rink Richard does not win that one Riley there to help Richard to wretchen Richard again some good ball protection there from Richard and he'll send the ball towards the farm and they're gonna call Monroe offside barely I don't know about that one yeah he seemed down to me but that was that was a tight call I I thought that uh he didn't break that line until the ball was off of Richard's foot tough call a tough break for East Longmeadow as that would have definitely ended up in a scoring opportunity still a zero zero game just under 14 minutes remaining in the first half and Samir Khan forces that ball out of bounds and a freebie for Jack marrigan on the goal kick American has certainly been playing very well at least in the past two games foreign as he made some big plays last night same with Dia Scully and McCarthy sends one towards the flag and Zach Richard can't seem to keep the ball in as he was being triple teamed and ends up going out of bounds Ben Wilson with a goal kick and uh head ball from sleeper and Monroe and sleep are in a foot race Monroe wins the Battle of three on four passes it to Fresno on another offsides call these slaw Metals can't seem to catch a break and roll still got that speed after that hit yeah Monroe suffering I believe that was the state semi-final game up in Canton Massachusetts yeah I made the hour 15 minute trip it's a little bit cold out but uh a great game between the Bulldogs and the Spartans but it sadly ended in East Longmeadow losing oh no but yeah Monroe's offering what was it a fractured hip something something in his hip something in his hip was not right at all yeah and he was uh I believe an ambulance did have to car him off the field but watch the game live in the house oh yeah but certainly looks to be back to full strength as you can see his speed is certainly deadly on that right side marrigan wins the battle and Santos kicks it out of bounds Khan will have a throw in Samir Khan on the far sideline looking for his open teammates finds the feet of Brennan Stone and stone tries to get it back to Khan menachog with a quick transition trying to catch each long medal not set weslowski fires it back it's a Hitler hitting her out wide to Harrison Harrison up the line to wesloskey and he's got a lot of room to work with across towards the middle American heads it out Sam Hanley a touch pass back to Oliveri and that's jammed up weslowski again with the ball and Hanley will keep it in bounds to prevent the corner ball spits back out to Harrison Hanley and Richard comes back to support and will clear it Jake Barlow and super sec working it on the far side and Khan steps up Morgado has to come out of his net and we'll scoop it up and get a quick punt off and weslowski going up again dear Scully bats it out of the air to Smith East Longmeadow having a difficult time getting out of their defensive zone right now the ball spits out to Monroe and Monroe is going to clear it way outside Joe presnell chasing it down doesn't have the numbers Richard coming into support and presnell a one-on-one and that ball ends up going out of bounds it's gonna be a minute Chuck throwing and some subs coming in for minute chog right now number 28 Brady sumala as well as number 15 Matthew O'Keefe Matt O'Keefe currently the leading scorer for minnichog with three these teams definitely seem to be evenly matched currently minichaga has a record of one three and one and with the win last night for East Longmeadow I believe that puts them in the same Realm Shane Smith in Brendan Stone on the far sideline chase down by itner and it sputters inside the 18 and Ben Wilson will scoop it up no problem and fire it out to Harrison Harrison chips it up to weslowski excuse me not weslowski to sumala waslowski playing it to Santos Santos can't make anything happen but takes the ball up again and Shane Smith with a great body Atkin and now chase down a good back check there from sumala but it ends up in an East Long medal throwing at Midfield just under eight minutes remaining in the first half score still 0-0 if you're joining us it's been pretty 50 50 so far Joe Presley with some space gets a volley a rebound can't quite connect and soup SEC with a great defensive play Nicholas subsec blocking that one down preventing Fresno from getting a clean shot on net gotta hurt a little Fresno again to the middle of Richard spits out to stone stone can't do too much with it canly apply some pressure and Andrew O'Toole is forced to kick the ball out of bounds as I was Richard looking for Monroe on the far post might have been a shot those past few minutes that uh menichak certainly had some offensive zone time and it's getting a little bit nervous for a second yeah but uh fortunately we weren't really able to get any clean shots on Morgado but hopefully it'll stay that way the remainder of the game however East Longmeadow has been getting some opportunities they seem to be playing a lot of the through Ball but have yet to connect they've been called offside twice American playing it back to morgato Morgado will boot it all the way up to Monroe sub sick heads it for minute chog and minnetonk now making their way Outfield Here Comes sumala and that ball goes out of bounds miniature corner kick and minnetonk we'll have the corner kick and towards the far post and it's headed out by Oliveri from the cross from Santos Hanley heading it up and that's taken down by Harrison minnichog with some numbers Ryan throws to the far post AJ Morgado diving to his right the balls wide enough where it doesn't go off of his fingertips and will be a result in a East Longmeadow goal kick for Jack marrigan and some more subs for East Longmeadow number eight Ben Biggins re-entering the game replacing 21 Sam Hanley Hanley also having his first full season as he suffered an arm injury last year and Ben um suffered something in his foot yeah I believe Ben Biggins also had a foot problem towards the Late Late end of this actually I think he played through it most of the season but towards the end postseason he was definitely acting up on him I was not playing as much as usual Gretchen a nice pass to Smith Richard using his body but can't be at excuse me Santos Paul gets sent all the way back to Ben Wilson and he can't pick it up president applies pressure Monroe tries to get a punch Michael Monroe with some great floor checking ability what a sue what a Sue and Monroe Barry's one for each long metal with 402 remaining in the first half foreign applying some pressure and wins the battle against Wilson and all he has to do is touch it around Wilson and that ball just had a had a one-way ticket right into the back of the net what a celebration great Sally from Monroe as well they call that one the sui this suey Teddy Kuhn is an expert in celebrations now he saw metal applying some more pressure Tyler wretchen up the side to Shane Smith a cut back inside Harrison defends well turns towards the sideline and that ball is deflected out of bounds by Oliveri he saw metal up one nothing around three minutes remaining and a through ball from weslowski Morgado has to come out of the net Waits patiently gets a little bit of a touch from Matt O'Keefe and rolls it out towards marrigan Marion looking for a through ball and it's broken up by Jake Barlow now another through ball and absolutely that one is offsides good to know that the refs are coming both ways today and American with a free kick what a boo finds Joe presnell Smith oliveiri president Richard looking and calling for the through ball a little too much mustard on her Wilson punts it Marion over the top weslowski and here comes Hitler oh and gets a little touch on that excuse me sumala in sumala thanks as that one out of bounds Morgado requesting a ball for his goal kick 210 remaining in the first half he's still a metal up one nothing and for those of you watching our live stream we thank you myself Brady doback alongside Teddy Kuhn here will be bringing you the remainder of this game and stone gets his legs taken out from underneath him it's gonna be a free kick for each long medal foreign with a big boot and Jake Barlow gets a quick head ball averi Gretchen up the line towards the flag to Richard Richard oh one on one with O'Toole minute remaining Oliveri throw into Richard a little bit tangled up with O'Toole Harrison Smith right over the top waslowski back to help ball spits out to Atkin Atkin can't do much with it ends back up on his foot and Andrew Oliveira with a huge play sumala was flying up the sideline Gretchen with a quick throw in for presnell Jake Barlow steps up just misses presnell tries to get by Barlow and then Barlow AJ Morgado is trying to direct some traffic Richard finds Monroe on the far side wide open Mike Plays it to stone stone a one touch on net and Ben Wilson comes up with a quick save and will transition quickly the other way minichog with some even numbers at Midfield and Jack marrigan with a great play to stop the momentum and that'll do it for the first half East Longmeadow currently up one nothing the goal scorer Michael Monroe unassisted so far so good Ted uh me slow metal definitely had a little bit of difficulty in the beginning they had a couple offside calls yep um but finally they were able to capitalize using Monroe's speed on the outside but Monroe just doing a great job not giving up on the play following up the ball Wilson obviously a pass back to him and um he couldn't pick it up so Monroe will apply some pressure goes off his shins and freebie right into the net so East Longmeadow looking good they've got another lead and uh looking to finish this game off get themselves to two wins on the season after the win against East Hampton last night two nothing so we have entered halftime nine minutes remaining we'll see then foreign thank you foreign thank you foreign thank you foreign okay welcome back to East Longmeadow High School we're just about to kick off the second half East Longmeadow is currently up one nothing courtesy of Michael Monroe and his goal and now we are going to I'm going to hand it over to a few special guests joining us this afternoon we have Bridget Jordan from the girls varsity soccer team along with Mia Mecha and they will be taking over for about five or so minutes so enjoy them thanks everyone thanks Brady we're excited to be here for the second half foreign obviously you've been here for a little while press a little rips a shot on that um you've been here for the first half I assume anybody that stood out to you so far for East Longmeadow um uh Zach joining us you saw metal is currently up one nothing and I have a special guest with me Bridget Jordan Bridget so far obviously you're part of the girls varsity team how have you guys been doing so far this year um we're doing good we started off the season pretty strong just recently we've been having like some difficulty but hopefully that turns around we have a game tomorrow okay and difficulty in what aspect defensively offensively communication overall like what's the difficulty probably just like communication overall like we're having a hard time like with the final ball on the field like we can't we just can't seem to work together like in the beginning of the season it's just like I don't know frustrating obviously developing that chemistry is very important to the success of a team yes so hopefully as the season progresses you guys will be able to get that chemistry and hopefully make another run as you are um the defending western Mass Champions yes so would love to see that again yes and minneton making their way up field and that ball comes out to subsec and that trickles in and Biggins makes a big defensive play on Matthew O'Keefe the leading scorer for minute jog so Bridget right now what is your current record I have not checked two two and one okay so a little bit over 500.

I'm only a handful of City departments have any information posted there in many cases it is Snapshot data so there is no information about Trends there is no information about goals there is no information about pure City performance where we could identify Benchmark data that would give us an idea if our goals and our performance is acceptable or not and would give us a sense of what our priorities should be and how we should be allocating our resources um I worked closely with two City administrators Howard Lazarus and Tom Crawford on this as some of you know I was the so-called executive policy advisor for sustainability under Howard Lazarus that was terminated under Tom Crawford but I continued to meet with him regularly to push this the current city administrator I sent a copy of a slide deck promoting performance transparency and proper use of metrics I did that in December I reached out again to him in March and in April um I I sent because of the lack of progress I drafted uh this resolution sent it to him as I said in March and in April um he asked that I delay action on this until September so here we are in September um I've checked the city's websites and there's really basically no change in status and so after discussion with a number of people including um Steve Brown who looked at an early version of this I'm also council member Griswald also Rita Mitchell we agreed that I would introduce it I'm here in the environmental commission for consideration and my plan is unless something changes tonight is to also introduce this um at the energy commission which I chair so that's how we got to where we are and um let me see if I had anything yeah I maybe just I'll give one example that I think is is particularly telling so I would say the cities most significant asset is our public streets and and rights away um there's certainly from a a value probably the greatest asset that the city has um also in terms of visibility it's highly visible um the city has a website with a lot of information about Street condition but there's no place where you can go to to look at the performance of the city over time on what so-called pays on its paiser ratings you can find a lot of different reports um they're in presentations to council there are in individual documents they're in submissions to the state but there's no place that a decision maker a commissioner who's advising on policy a resident can go and see what is the trend on PESA ratings over time how was the city performing against targets that it has set itself and communicated to the community and as I said to the state and um if if it's not doing it in that case um it you know that's that's really I think important to the the residents of the city you can contrast that with some really excellent performance if you will in transparency for example on water quality drinking water quality where we get regular reports um those are Benchmark against all kinds of standards um that is uh you know the contrast that we see and really what we want to set in my view is an expectation that all performance is treated the same way it is uh easily accessible to everyone in the city uh and that that information is used um in order to do a better job of a pre um achieving our targets and doing a better job of allocating City resources so that's my general pitch um and I hope that many of you had a chance to read through this but basically what I'm asking in the whereas Clauses and maybe you can skim down to those Steve and then we can go back up is that um and by the way um as the top of the page so it says here there's a lot of municipalities that do an excellent job with dashboards including the ones that I've listed here and what I'm proposing through this resolution is that the city administrator insurer that all of the city's smart goals and kpis are linked first to this webpage I had proposed doing that uh in by the end of this year um given that there will be a time frame to approve this not only by us but if it goes to council by Council the proposed date may not be realistic anymore may need to be pushed out for example a quarter this is just simply linking what's available to this webpage and then secondly that the city administrator with the input of boards and commissions staff obviously Council Etc ensure that that all of our strategic goals have smart goals associated with them and that those are all posted not just what we tracked today but all of those are posted to this webpage and that it's done so um in a consistent format so that everybody can interpret them the same so if I look at one chart and I'm looking at another chart it's not completely different with different kinds of indicators and and um um keys if you will you know what what means what on the chart um that that'll all be done uniformly and that that be done by the end of the year um and that the city administrator provide a work plan with a timeline to achieve that uh because I think without planning and doing that we're going to find ourselves um whatever that due date is where we miss the due date and then finally what all of this is for is frankly that we kick off uh the use of those that performance information so that we do what is called in in many circles a plan do check act or adjust continuous Improvement cycle so you plan by defining your street teaching goals in the associated smart smart goals and targets you develop plans that's also planning obviously you do you execute those plans you check against your performance that you that is now transparent to all and then after checking your that checking that then you act or adjust your plans so that you ensure that you're going to meet your longer term targets or that you address things um for example through escalation through additional resources through training through reprioritization and so on and so forth and unless you have transparency of your performance for everyone and unless you review that on a regular basis we will in my view not be the kind of city that we want to be and we will not be stewards of taxpayer dollars and do the kinds of things that we want to do for them so that is my few minutes field all right thank you John um let's see Kathy you have your hand up and then John Callaway um yes I support this concept uh I saw how effective it was in the corporate world um one suggestion is that we remove a few of the negative whereas Clauses um I think it's critical that we have this discussion at the council table we will have five new council members in November uh there is a reason why transparency has decreased in the last six years and just to be brutally honest the political machine that controls Ann Arbor uh has the money to control the city control the elected officials not only at the city level but to a certain extent that will happen on the school board and it will happen uh in Washtenaw County and so we need to convince our elected leaders that this is valuable because we don't have to convince City administrators they understand it but they're not going to go against what the the will of the political machine in this community um John you have your hand up and then and yeah thanks Steve um John a couple of questions so you mentioned the city administrator asked you to hold off until September have you had any other conversations with them and part of the reason I asked is I know OSI is doing a lot of work right now on creating a dashboard that would have many of these features so my concern with a a resolution like this is it seems detached from what the city is actually doing I fully support kind of the overall objective but I'm I'm worried that this we are we going to have two different conversations going on so I mean I'd like to to maybe hear a little bit more about what the city is doing and where they're going because like I said I know OSI is very focused on you know developing a dashboard to address um priorities out of their area but but the last thing I'll say is you know I worry that we've got different sectors within the city and everybody yes should have key performance indicators or defined goals but it's it's really hard to get something at a level that you're going to have similar kind of like metrics across all those areas and maybe that's not what you're saying but I worry that it's going to be kind of too generalized to to be effective so let me try to address your comments um first of all I don't personally see this as political at all this is just as far as I'm concerned effective um management um secondly uh I sent an email uh about two weeks ago to the city administrator um asking um if anything had changed um and requested feedback um basically five working days later um I did not hear anything back um I did not follow up again I I it's it's not my job to follow up with him or him to respond to me I I just told him that I wanted to proceed with this and I wanted to know if anything had changed and um if there was any concerns that he had and I did not hear anything back and I copied also his administrator so it wasn't I presumably just he that had a chance to see it but also um his Administrative Assistant um as far as what OSI is doing um I applaud what OSI is doing um I told you I think there are is exemplary behavior in uh portions of city government in terms of how this is done and managed and how it's How what kind of transparency there is um and there is a lot of room for improvement um in even in those areas um for example uh in let's take the case of um oh greenhouse gas emissions um we are approaching the end of September and we still are looking in the rear view mirror at greenhouse gas inventory with 2020 data in the middle of the pandemic we still do not even know what our greenhouse gas emissions were in 2021 if you look at the energy commission meeting um that was held in I think July or June which was a report on the status of a20 at two um as I mentioned there's no greenhouse gas inventory and there was basically no information on performance of goals even though the A200 plan has indicators of success and it has a timeline for every single action item so there are there are due dates in in the plan that would be the basis for on performance as well as targets of doing X by such you know X number of Whatever by such and such a date and that was not in the report so what is planned and what might be done in certain Corners that we would say is exemplary I think is still um could be improved upon and I think that the same standard should be set not just for one or two departments but across the board so I hope I addressed those points um and you have your hand up yeah so it's uh so it's my understanding that um like the from what you're saying that the administrators the city administrators uh with whom you've spoken they haven't necessarily given you reasons why they haven't done this kind of reporting voluntarily that's that's the difficult question to ask our answer um I I just feel that um there is potentially going to be this is just my perception there's going to be pushback from staff um my experience working in industry is that when you do this uh there's always the comment that um you're going to take time away from and some and and devote it to reporting and you're going to therefore have less time to be able to work on Improvement actions and and frankly um in every case that I've seen in working in multiple different divisions and working in lots of different areas in in all cases the better the quality of information the better the quality of performance and Improvement actions and so on and so forth so it was recognized I mean I can say in in in one-on-one in the city administrator's office in in both cases with Tom Crawford and with Howard Lazarus both indicated that this is something that needed to be done um but it's it's five four three whatever years later and still we see no no improvement I mean you look at look at the performance webpage okay yeah no I did look at it um have you estimated what the the cost of this kind of resolution would would be for the city I have a few questions about this actually I'm curious about the cost um curious about um like the um the goals you know there needs to be like usually a timeline associated with you know with how long you state your goals over what period of time do those goals apply because with um elections every two years is it um goals change and so um there would be obviously updates that would need to be made to this kind of a you know dashboards in the various Department City departments and then um you know and then my third question here is that is um how would this uh this sort of resolution be enforceable so I know the city is working on a redesign of its website I have no idea or insight into what the scope of that is and what it entails and it includes um a an improved dashboard um even if it does I don't see why this resolution would be something that we shouldn't push um as to cost um you can see here that I mean I've listed larger cities um that are better known um but there are small cities smaller than Ann Arbor that do a very good job of this and if you'd like me to I could um list um provide those so I don't think um cost is an issue and frankly we're spending you know hundreds of millions of dollars a year you know if you look at not just the general fund but if you look at all the expenditures for millage on um streets on uh Wastewater on drinking water Etc there's we're spending hundreds of millions of dollars a year and to be able to understand your performance uh on how those resources are being spent how they're being effectively spent um the cost here in my you is really shouldn't come into consideration um I don't know if I caught and answered all your questions and okay Kathy you have your hand up yes I know that congresswoman song frequently refers to the city of Durham North Carolina uh so John I suggest that you talk to her I think we talked about that already um I would also suggest that you talk to our mayor Christopher Taylor if you haven't already done that um I've been involved in a number of projects like this in the corporate world and in order for them to succeed and you probably know this you have to have support from the leadership and you have to have buy-in if employees don't see where it's going to benefit them it probably won't be successful um and it will benefit them because it's almost a cultural or management style so it's not like you're gonna pay for this unless you hire a consultant to do it for you and then you have an integrated into the organization so it's not going to succeed anyway it needs to be integrated again uh I know that Lisa dish had her hand up a minute ago and I don't know if if she put it down or or if something happened from uh there she is okay okay from a technological standpoint uh again I I just think that if we can be a little more positive in how this is presented I think we can all agree that transparency has declined but I don't know that that that's going to help sell this concept okay um Lisa we have the floor oh thank you yeah no I'm still here thank you yeah sorry I I got kicked out that happens about three times leaving it seems so yeah John I think that um this is all really important stuff for civic engagement and participation and especially you know we're looking forward to a new sustainability millage and of course that's not the only area where we want to see clear benchmarks but you know but there are others as well um I uh I think however I I very much agree with you I think that there's been some really great feedback um on on this draft and uh I I very much agree with Kathy's suggestion to make it more positive um or to remove sort of the the negative things um I don't I I can very much understand why the city administrator may not have gotten back to you within five working days um and just to clarify this is not just the city Administration this is the head of the city who you whom you reached out to I think um just so you know my requested due date or for feedback was September 9th well it's it's basically there's there's lots of transpired since then yep there's a lot going on he's he's not an unbusy man and there's um and I think that there is a I wish we I wish that we really had a process for for Resolutions because if we if I could say that then it would be easy for me to say here are some steps it would be good to take but I think it's a great step to bring it to this Commission to look at and and provide feedback and um and I think that uh um you know I'm gonna meet with I have we have monthly meetings with the city administrator I'm meeting with him on Wednesday of next week I can ask him what he thinks of this and raise the question that commissioner caloric raised which is is this something that's already in the works and so does this resolution [Music] um is this resolution going to spark a course of action or is it is it kind of preaching to the choir and how you know what what if if if you know if a if a resolution is desired um what form would it need to take um so I respond to that at one point you can respond to everything yeah I I love I love everything you've set up to now um except not accept I would um frame the uh I would frame this resolution differently I would say if this is intended by the administrator and if city council which sets policy for the city endorses this it strengthens his hand in in doing this this is an outcoming boiling up if you will through commissions going to city council debated in city council and this is something that city council is saying this is something that our residents deserve this is something that we need as policy advisors as policy makers as pal as decision makers and this is something that you City Administration and staff as recognized by the city administrator this is something that you need we all need to do your jobs well so I I think this reinforces his position at the time I wrote to him he said that um his he was just going from temporary status to permanent status he had three department heads that he was replacing he said he had a lot on his plate and he asked that I wait until September I'm sure that some of those things have been addressed and that he has a lot of other new things on his plate I've been frankly I've been in positions like his and so I the people at this level are always busy and there's always going to be busy but this is really something that will strengthen his hand and it will strengthen in my view the um the performance quote unquote of the entire city including everyone that's engaged as a as a resident and citizen they will have a much better understanding of what's going on and one thing that I want to address I think I am talked about earlier about changing goals this is exactly why you do this and this is exactly why you have reviews where you review all of your reviews because what happens as I've seen in the city and what I've seen happen in many other cases is that because leadership changes because Representatives get elected what happens is you just pile strategic goal on type of strategic goal and type of strategic goal and you don't reassess priorities and you don't reassess your allocation of resources and so it's it's absolutely necessary I mean I can speak from personal personal experience it's really important to sit down and look at the whole slate of strategic initiatives and strategic goals in the real the allocation of resources and I know that city council does that but I would say it does it um in uh with what I would call insufficient information there's a lot of information in packets that are provided to um the city council in the December meetings over years and your strategy sessions I've looked at those almost every single year um and by having those kinds of meetings and having good information then you can reassess is this is this goal the right goal anymore what has changed what's the Benchmark from from our uh from Pure pure cities um do we need to change our priorities do we need to change our goals do we need to change our resources this this this transparency of performance is absolutely fundamental to running a an efficient entity whether it's a non-profit whether it's government whether it's business it really doesn't make any difference in my view go ahead Steve you can okay yeah you have your hand up and then Rita yeah just just one more comment about it like I think these these kinds of dashboards these efforts at enumerating strategic goals and measuring against them are um always like a better results when it's very obvious what the benefit is to the people who are tasked with maintaining them and so um wording the resolution to I to Echo what Kathy and um Lisa said that in a more positive light as to how this will uh benefit the city employees um who are who are the ones that will have to maintain this um is is very important to last Warehouse Claus it says whereas complete transparent easily accessible information about government operations and performance is essential to city council policy makers administrative leadership staffs boards commissions citizens oversight and Democratic processes included absolutely as a part of that yeah I was I would lead with staff because they're the ones that are going to have to maintain these like they should be the number one benefactor of this and the rest of us should be collateral that's all I have to say thanks yeah um I'll read it you have your hand up oh Andrew thank you I'll say um thanks for this discussion I think it's really good and I am a strong proponent of using these I think we would use the staff input as our professionals they're in their own businesses uh you know each in a tiny Silo and ideally knit together um and that that's that they would be the leaders on this I think um and but we knew do need this to in the context of how the public views the actions that we're taking so that we um that that the public can trust what's being done in their name with the actions that the city are doing and so I I I feel very strongly that that we can make this be something that's a good and usable tool um that that people will come that you know ideally people would become more engaged in their city if they knew and could feel that they understand the measures that people are using so that's that's my thing thank you okay um I don't see anybody else's hand up so uh just as uh well Kathy's here I just want to end on a positive note because I think that we've been tough on John but it's because we want him to be successful me too yeah yeah no I feel the same way Kathy and you know um I mean there is a fair amount of frustration that comes through in this document but I think uh it's something that we all agree with I think we've all worked in institutions where these kind of implementing these kind of processes and procedures actually approves dramatically the efficiency of the organization as a whole and it minimizes wasted time and effort and money so um and it's been you know decades decades decades used in most organizations where the bottom line is um you know there's a continuity and what the bottom line is I want the goals of the organization are so um I think John what I hear is that um maybe we should soften it you should consider softening the tone a little bit and then for example and then the result Clauses um it might be um better to ask for a commitment by the city administrator and the Council on personally I'm not sure if there are any kind of retreats are there any like one day or two day Retreats that Council has with the city Administration and Senior staff we where you look over um long-term issues and perform review problems there will probably be in December uh in the last few years it has been more of a presentation to us I mean I remember one where we simply talked about good techniques of campaigning so it was more let's get to know each other then let's talk about the management of the city but that is something that we could suggest I I won't be there in December uh but uh Lisa dish will and and I would think that this if if we're going to move forward with this this would be a perfect format to have that discussion in December yeah but this sort of that's I've been involved in um these sorts of cultural shifts and several corporations and um there's usually a consultant that has a has a basic uh that's a neutral Observer that will um set up a it's kind of a rotation Matrix if you want to get really mathematical about it where you know here are the lines of authority and here are the policies and procedures and we're just going to rotate it we're not going to we're not wiping Everything clean we're not doing anything else but here is defining a pathway about how we will get to this kind of Performance Management model because really [Music] um I think I've heard a lot of I've heard from city council members that uh that this is something that the staff my a lot of the staff might welcome but what they need is a plan um to to to a pathway that's planned out and managed and managed I think so so what I heard from you Kathy is that yeah the council meets informally and talks about their concerns but then there's the uh but I'm not sure the staff is involved in campaigning yeah it was a team building exercise that was very bizarre yeah yeah okay well John you have your hand up two things first of all I would welcome it if uh council member dish would bring this up with the city administrator and um at the time that he and I exchanged this in April he did not make any specific recommendations about the text he just asked that I um and I had already revised it um somewhat by that time I didn't mention well I think I mentioned that I um shared it with a number of different people but I would I would welcome any any input in terms of revisions as well as due dates um so that this is constructive and and I would only um like to offer an anecdote um about my personal experience in using this and I absolutely agree that this is absolutely essential and crucial for staff um and for you know every level frankly um so early or Midway through my career when I was responsible for a product line and a plan um every single morning I would go in for a seven o'clock morning meeting with people from My Level all the way down to set up people from each individual group of machines and they would report on their metrics what how how they were performing what they were deducing from that what actions they were going to be taking what support they needed from their Engineers all the way up to people from meepa like that from me and then later when plants reported to me I would go at least quarterly to every plant we would spend four hours in a conference room reviewing every single key metric getting into action items supporting action items what was on schedule what was not on schedule was the bed budget sufficient was the resources sufficient and then we would go to the shop floor in the afternoon and spend another four hours interfacing with shop floor teams talking with them about what's going on at the shop floor level how are they using their metrics are they meeting their goals what what support they needed from me what problems they were having and so on and so forth this is absolutely positively interactive it's up and down and across the organization and that's why leadership is needed and that's why it's not just vertically but it's horizontally because in many cases these are not goals that are achieved based on one Department you know OSI alone is not going to enable the city to meet its a20 goals it's going to need support from other department managers and so when you have these kinds of meetings where people are involved from the individual staff members with no leadership responsibility whatsoever all the way up to top leadership with other department managers this is how you solve problems and it's different in business because you're looking at dollars and we're not looking at dollars and cents the same way but in it's exactly the same in the sense that that organizations such strategic goals and they're they're things that are dear to them and important to them and they want to see that those things get done efficiently and effectively and that is certainly true of the city as much as as it is for any other organization I've ever been involved in that's why all of us are doing this on a voluntary basis yes okay um so let's see now um I get the sense that um um council member Edition will uh discuss this we'll schedule some time with the city administrator to discuss um this this topic and get some feedback from him and um we will revisit this we'll just table this until our next meeting and this will be on the agenda for our next meeting in October okay and um we should we should try to maintain some uh momentum on this I know it's been a concern that's been bounced around for years about Performance Management and metrics and things like this um I will I will um propose some draft changes to this and get it to you um before your meeting on Wednesday okay and then um I also I'm mindful that we'll have a new Council in a couple of months and so I think this could become a matter of discussion among all the candidates but they're already really elected they were elected last August so um I would I would think we we should all feel like I'm approaching um our our current candidates for uh for city council and um and brushing this issue with them and see just initiate a discussion uh just an informative discussion with the new council members on I think that's something we can all commit to um privately so um well thank you John for bringing this formally up to the commission and we'll uh we'll put it on the agenda for uh next month is there any does anybody else wish to make any closing comments at this time no I very much appreciate everybody's comments and probing questions they will make this is a better resolution okay Bill thank you John all right so um let's move on to the next item on the agenda are reports from committees and other commission's Council and chair so why don't we um Chris isn't here so um let's um in in later the time it's already 902 uh so let's um uh let's skip over natural features unless somebody has something um they would like to inform the rest of the commission on this work group uh the next one is zero waste uh John is there anything you'd like to mention right now sure just quickly we'll be having a presentation at the October meeting thanks to Steve and others for getting that on the agenda from the group of C students who are working on this and some other things that are going on uh before that time uh we'll be presenting at a Statewide recycling event about our work actually making a pitch and kind of competing uh to try to maybe get some additional funding for the work that we're excited about that and then the last thing is today we receive notification that we received another grant for this work I think this is number three uh from the U.S sustainability directors Network to help us build Community Trust around circular economy and expand it across all uh communities particularly those who may have been marginalized or left out of some other Economic Development opportunities in the past so we're excited that that work is going to move forward and that was a twenty thousand dollar grant that we just got here oh great thank you John uh pollinators were approved yeah and then Rita can chime in if I miss anything we um just created drafted our mission and what I think John are some smart goals and some actions underneath those goals one of which is the leave the leaves campaign we're gonna We partnered with OSI um we're in conversations right now with Sean Reynolds and we're gonna work with them to use their communication channels to get information out about leave the leaves and educate community members and perhaps some signage we'll see if if that can happen and then we'll start thinking about no moment again as we get through fall um Rita did I miss anything um well no that it was really great um but you could also say that we have our newsletter coming out really soon and that Bridget wrote It's really good again and um I just to the tiny bit of education is leave the leaves it's about saving the pollinator eggs pupae larvae Chrysalis uh Chrysalis and uh and adult forms from going into the compost and not coming back out as adults in their next year their next phase of life so that's why we feel this is really important to continue supporting providing an environmental enhancement for those um invertebrates that support a lot of life to all right all right thank you Richard and Rita Planning Commission Shannon yeah um I would say the the biggest thing to report over the last month is um continuing on this kind of all-electric push that we keep um trying to go for with various developers and we've had mixed success but we have had some recent success so that feels really good um I think even though again it's not our technically our jurisdiction I think because we just keep speaking up about things um the word is getting through the grapevine and we just had um we had a project come through this last time that is an all-electric uh project uh for I think it's 79 units it's over on um the on Maple Road near where the roundabout is near Skyline High School so that was exciting to see we didn't have to drag anybody through the mud or try to chase people down which is kind of what we feel like we've had to do I think um and so it feels good to have at least a couple respond uh respond to this call um The Village was another one that is a huge project that they said that they would um do the houses is all around all electric but not necessarily the multi-family units and so but there was some interesting discussion at the end that they might be interested in talking more with some other folks from the community about possibilities for that so um we'll see how that one all plays out um and uh and it'll be interesting to watch that one move on to city council so hopefully those conversations will have taken place before it hit city council um and uh yeah Lisa I'm seeing that you want to chime in am I right about that yes they say you have a floor yeah just just a tiny bit I want to chime in which is that um the reasoning for providing making the houses all electric but not the rental units is that they think it will put them at a disadvantage on the rental market given the price of electricity and um whether or not that's true and I think there are debates about that um it really points up the importance of us not negotiating electrification project by project but oh I bet I'm frozen it it seems I may be frozen but anyway we can hear you fine oh good that's great all right um so you know it would just really be great if we can figure out where um in city regulations that are Universal if not the building code maybe the UDC or someplace else who knows where we might be able to put an electrification requirement because it's really critical and we're just in such a precarious position when we try to do it uh when when we have a reluctant developer and we try to negotiate project by project because you know it's we just you know you're not necessarily consistent when you do things project by project it's better when you have a blanket roll so I'm really hoping we'll see some movement on that and I'm sure everyone here would be delighted if we were able to figure out a way to get some movement on that okay yeah thank you uh thank you Shannon and Lisa um next up is energy John the last energy commission was devoted entirely to this subject uh-huh I sent a link to a tape of the meeting to this commission as well as planning as well as a bunch of other uh let's say concerned citizens and various bodies including people at the University of Michigan um I encourage you to watch at least the latter half of that which is uh presenting both anecdotal as well as data from the state of Pennsylvania showing that indeed construction can be done affordably and sustainably granted some of the conditions have changed recently in terms of basic construction costs so that makes this different difficult but if if a if a a developer is going ahead with the project there is there is indeed widespread experience and data that shows that they can be all electric energy efficient and therefore a win for the developer for residents for the environment Etc so that was our entire meeting and if you're interested in the topic uh go to YouTube put it on the highest playback speed that you can still understand our our our talk and zip through it and I think um you'll find that you'll learn a lot about this topic right yeah thanks John and by the way we're hoping um and I'll reinforce it here that we have a joint meeting um at some point with Planning Commission um with obviously staff that we can tackle exactly this problem um and it is a difficult problem but we should be in my view in the midst of a climate emergency be using every lever that we have and I am not convinced that we are doing that but I will leave that for another another time okay um um Council uh Kathy first and then Lisa chapter 40 that was a vegetation ordinance was approved by the environmental commission it was sent to staff uh it's been quite a while but uh a number of meetings have occurred uh so I think progress is being made in two different areas the legal department and then also Missy Stoltz has had a meeting in his work with the engineering staff um I never thought it was going to be this complicated but I can tell you that staff is focusing on it and if if we don't get something before the next environmental commission I will draft a simple resolution and bring it back to the environmental commission uh we really need to be able to consistently enforce site distance on intersections and make sure that our sidewalks are clear I see Shannon nodding her head yes and the way it is now where one neighbor complains about another neighbor and Community standards only goes out and looks at that individual property uh is is very troubling for everyone involved so I think that the staff other council members everyone has agreed that we need to make a change but the complexity of it is making it difficult to move forward that's a shame uh but I I am going to apply all of the um okay methodology methodology that John mentioned tonight to make sure that we realize our goal okay good uh Lisa would you like to add anything oh okay um no all right so um next up is chairperson so I'm just going to mention that the trash talk tour was last Sunday September 18th and uh it was a success it was the second annual trash talk tour um I led the bicycle ride so we had 17 people instead of seven the year before so well that part is growing and the weather was good and uh a revelation for me was going out to the new Kiwanis site you know the Kiwanis uh moved out there to Jackson Road I had not been out there but they have 10 times as much space they do a lot of repair and resell and they work with a lot of the social services agencies in the county um to to get to get these products into the hands of people uh so there it's a vital part of our circular local circular economy um that we should all go visit um sometime um if we if we want to buy something um then the second thing is um I just want to remind everybody that there's uh we still have an open position um Chris vandenbrock resigned last month so I would encourage people to ask others especially if they're interested in solid waste issues to uh to apply for this Commission uh because we you won't be nominated unless you've applied for it um and so uh the last thing I want to mention is that it's uh this will be galen's last meeting you know um he's moving on to the working in Detroit for the Michigan environmental Council and so yeah he's been great and uh sorry to see him go but I'm sure we'll run into him from time to time um and so um the next step is uh Galen report from staff well thank you for such a you know warm warm warm departure greeting or whatever you know I I've been so emotional about leaving you know it's been like it's like I'm leaving my family and all of you are part of that family and unfortunately my webcam isn't working but you know from the heart you know it's been fun you know um we've been through ups and downs we've been through covid and you know we still here doing the work um I also want to welcome Hannah Loftus you know she'll be uh my replacement you know please have patience you know because legendstar isn't you know we don't use it every day so you know um please you know uh lean on Sarah Alanis in the clerk's office you know and um I left some good instructions for you so also I want to let you know that our 820 ambassadors application will be closing on September 30th and I want to encourage you to you know if you got bandwidth or what not to apply you know we have several ambassadors you know who've gone through the course right here on the commission and they've served on other commissions and I think it's really worthwhile you know and just another way to inner nature something to work that's happened on the ground so thank you Steve you know you know thank you all you know uh Rita you know we've had fun and you know just thank you all best wishes yep and bless you and uh don't be a stranger yes thank you all thank you all I'm over here Misty okay yeah that's true so um the next item on the agenda is the items for the next agenda so John um has a chunk of time on it and also uh you know uh John mursky's initiative and John calibert's um discussion on how much time do you do would you like to have John caliber half hour 30 minutes okay well then John um let's uh let's do another 40 minutes for you okay uh five minutes okay I'm I'm hopeful okay so no more talking at this point not next month okay good um so then um in the next scheduled meeting is October 27th at 7 pm it's gonna still be online I'm not sure when we might be transitioning in person but I imagine that will happen someday but uh so this uh so the next uh item on the agenda is public commentary so this is your second opportunity for uh persons to speak for up to three minutes so please call 888-788-0099 and enter meeting ID 915-8343-9176 [Music] City staff will select callers that have raised their hand one by one using the last three digits of your phone number in order to electronically raise your hand to indicate your desire to speak please press star 9 on your phone you will hear an automated announcement that the host is allowing you to speak when speaking please move to a quiet area and mute any television or background sounds so that we may hear you clearly and state your name and address at the beginning of your comments and be patient there can be a delay of up to 30 seconds before a connection is established so Galen is there anybody on the line right now foreign [Music] there's no one on the line okay so we'll wait another 30 minutes or 30 seconds so in the meantime I want to thank everybody I think the discussion went well and uh let's see what happens with um you know at John's initiative foreign there is no one on the line okay well thank you so I declare this meeting adjourned at uh 9 19 pm thanks everybody

so it's it's crazy to think that we've now passed that and we're still continuing to grow and hit those numbers and the growth of senator absolutely so we must be doing something right procedurally he needs to uh so I I now close the public hearing are there any board members who like to comment questions or concerns I was being good I didn't want to interrupt anybody because that is the simple community members to understand but I like that you added why it's going up uh not by our cause but the assessed value situation so I really appreciate that slide hopefully people understand it and see it yeah okay well just be aware there's no board action here this evening on this we're not going to take any but we will approve this budget or at least be presented to us for approval at the October meeting I believe it's the 20th October 20.

yeah certainly a good start to the season who have you lost to so far this year um we just lost to Belchertown and then Westfield this past week okay I believe I did hear I think Westfield was a tough loss yeah it was 1-0 those ones are always tough yeah you're minute chalk now trying to create some offense in marrigan Boots the ball out of bounds just around the Midfield mark but it looks like it was deflected off of a miniature player so a throw in for Josh Riley he'll look for Brennan Stone in the Middle Stone tries to go over the back of weslowski and now a through ball minutog making their way up field quickly Biggins with goalside position on O'Keefe O'Keefe fighting for it mayorgan in to help Biggins again clears it out towards the top of the 18. picked up and sent back in my minnetonk player supsik trying to assist in a rip-on net ends up in the chest of Morgado so obviously Kaylee or Kaylee Bridgette um I believe uh there are some Collegiate players on your team yeah um we have Taylor She's committed to Central Connecticut I believe Central Connecticut I believe that's a division one school right yeah um Kaylee as I mentioned she's I believe still in progress looking for somewhere to go um any plans for your future do you want to pursue soccer in college um definitely not soccer in college okay um I'm trying to go to college if that's a question Richards with a run up the side and he'll try to get a chip on net and it goes wide right just under 35 minutes remaining well Bridget I thank you for having thank you for coming on today and I hope you enjoyed your time here um Teddy Kuhn should be taking over uh Bridget does say thank you but uh she just can't seem to get it out without laughing so Teddy welcome back good to have you again they're terrible and Ryan Richards going out with O'Keefe Richards one on one with O'Keefe and that ball ends up out of bounds gonna be a minute shock throw in for Alex sleeper up the sideline O'Keefe ball trickles out of bounds O'Keefe not happy with the call Biggins with a free throw in free slime at all and the near sideline finds Richard Midfield back to Barlow the other Barlow I believe they are brothers weslowski ball stolen from his foot by stone stone looking for help finds Richard the now wide to Oliveri Zach Richard [Music] looking backwards opening up some space Stone we'll get a popper on that those ones are tough to save absolutely Wilson definitely taken off guard by that shot but once again just got to test them Stone doing a good job there had a little bit of space let one fall on net Ben Wilson with a goal kick 32-45 remaining and O'Keefe fighting Biggins chips it up the line Noah done I don't know how he can throw that ball so far yeah Biggins definitely has quite a cannon speaking of that Dante Bates last year was unbelievable oh yeah he could absolutely launch the ball he could honestly honestly put it from the sideline into the net in the air and it was a very valuable asset for East Longmeadow and and their trip to the state semi-finals last year Jack marrigan with a free kick looking for the far post Monroe chasing it down towards the flag able to capture it and Alex sleeper playing defense Andrew Oliveira with a cup move to the outside he's got plenty of space crosses it into the middle to the top of the 18.

it will be another hearing yes not bad for your first presentation yeah a little more Kudos I'll do better next time at least you didn't start out with a hundred slides like Paul had once in a while it was just like Paul was here he might be watching thank you Mr Gabriel hi Paul is he evaluating you yeah 6.5 thank you Mr Hubbard um this evening um there will be no actions this evening I'm recommending that the board approved the proposed policy revisions you have in front of you sorry yeah in front of you the policies this is your second reading on these policies I do appreciate the board's effort I know you received these and of course the team weeks and weeks ago and have had them to review as you know this packet from Neola is more the the last two packets are pretty much the the lighter version of changes that we've seen over the years so with that being said tonight uh this being the second reading would we would look for any questions any additional questions you have on these policies and also we would need a motion to approve these policies tonight and with one thing when these changes come through it's usually Neola catching up with state law that's correct basically after each session they go through the you know it's all team of lawyers go through the session they make the recommendations to us the red and green lines that you have um you know our team looks at them and uh selects items that pertain to a school district to our size and then we then share those also with the teachers associations for example there's information in there about like the teacher evaluation there's things about um maybe staff discipline or something like that and then we share that with the Teachers Association they go through them and then they ask questions and provide input as well so those are and then sometimes policies too I should say we have different groups like have the president's group for the ptos and the football programs and all of those sometimes those policies are even presented to them if they are you know they pertain to them and so that gives that group of parents and staff an opportunity to weigh in as well so all that being said then you also are weighing in on them and deciding which ones to go with Neola has that team of attorneys that developed this our attorney Michelle Cooper actually is part of that team that that national team that does this work so well I do think it's notable too that you know we talk about 75 pages of changes but in those 75 Pages it changes one was training for sudden cardiac arrest for certain coaches and the like yeah and that affected six seven different analysis correct so it's kind of misleading when you're talking about what the policy changes were you've got that you've got graduation plans you've got the fact that CPS is now DCS yes so just changes like that may look to be yeah a lot but a lot of them are technical a lot of them were technical especially this time around yeah and I'm glad you pointed that out because the other thing too is when you look at neola's system there's a policy and we talk about this all the time the repeat is sometimes confusing it pertains to students staff and uh Community right and it might be a three thousand four thousand five thousand exact same policy they just they apply differently to the each group while they apply the same to each group they just rewrite it for each group and that's just the legal system that they've put in place and you probably appreciate it more than I do it says John Moyer is getting in the way right no but but I think it's important to know that even though it looks like it's 75 Pages you know you're talking about a handful of changes great you've done a lot of his clarifying language catching up the legislation and that have been recommended to us us approved by our lawyer right and one of them was a public comment yeah and while our old policy we've been told was fine with the new law we went ahead and updated it yes now that there's a new law out there that was a perfect example of that that's correct with the assistance of our of Neola and our lawyer right yes absolutely appreciate the effort for you and your team thank you and I know I asked this last month but they're clear on that policy 167.3 public participation at board meetings our particular policy has been reviewed by our legal counsel correct that is correct yes yes and and has given the thumbs up so tonight we just need a motion in Mr President I move that we approve the policy revisions as presented I'll second that most has been made a second to approve the proposed policy revisions for the second reading all in favor say aye aye aye is anyone opposed motion passes thank you 6.6 Dr arganoff thank you Mr Herbert um this evening you have now the first round of readings and this again is from Neola catching up with some additional policy revisions we do have in there the policies and the changes again most of these are as you pointed out previously Mr Daniels a lot of these are just more just clerical changes catching up with some of the updates to to the law so with that I'll just rather than read through every one of them for you and I know you guys have had these for a little while to look at do you have any specific questions on any particular policy foreign I know the other thing too I should just kind of for clarity you do also receive a synopsis that we sent you that that Neola puts together I think they do a nice job of kind of helping you cut through that um it is it is more succinct however it's really you know it's really uh probably something that can be confusing if not having the experience of of being trained in it so this is why the policy as a whole is probably better to okay are there any specific ones Dr arkanov you'd like to point out to us tonight I mean we've all been through them we've all yeah no I I I didn't I did nothing was really of a red flag for me I thought these were pretty just simple uh changes and updates um I think you know there's there's always language that people get confused by in some user that's one that's in there and and uh people are always kind of like well what does that mean um you know and we might in fact not to put you too much on the spot but would one of you like to describe like what does the compliance officer oh that's the person that's charged with investigating harassment and discrimination complaints and we're doing some just changes in titles to match we always make sure we have a male and female representative as a compliance officer and typically it's myself Dr Hoover's been one Dr long probably was in the past this time we're heading Dr Nelson as well to that list so our title so we can serve in those situations when we need to and so the the policy while still exactly the same the changes involved yeah yeah so that's why you'll see a lot of those things is there any particular policy that stood out to you want it's pretty brilliant I think one I will point out I do I think might be the staff and student relations that would probably be a good one Jason that we might want to talk a little bit about and that's one we shared I know Mr Lawson's in the room we shared with our association presidents um and we will be discussing that with them and their larger discussion team next week it just kind of really get some guidelines around appropriate and inappropriate student staff relations some things that we've had in the past maybe we're a little more vague I think the law has changed a little bit and Neola felt like it was time to really put out a list of behaviors that could be considered inappropriate so we'll spend some time talking to our teachers about that they may give us a recommended recommended change which would be something we'd bring back to the board after discussions with them and yes we talked about making that change to make it best for everyone Tracy would you bring that one up that's page 15 on this document I believe and you can see um it's a policy 1213.

the escali looking to get a head ball Biggins shipping it to presnell president goes wide to Richards Ryan Richards uh trying to make a move cut to the middle and the ball comes off his foot Biggins credit Zach Richard with the assist Michael Monroe with the goal islamato up two nothing with 31 minutes remaining and Brennan Stone will be checking out of the game Morgado directing some traffic all the way back in his net Shane Smith how wide to Andrew Oliveri oliverio one on one and he beats them East Long Middle's got some numbers going the other way passes it to Richard Richard A One Touch having me man what's going on it's going good uh so far east longmeadow's been having a good game great goal recently by Mike Monroe and uh East Side metal seems to be making their way the other way quickly his second of the game yeah Monroe I mean on fire he's had three in the past two games so far now what's there what's their overall record overall I believe right now they're one three and one um or one two and one but it's somewhere in there I know they're under 500 currently now who have it lost to um they did lose to Ludlow I believe that was a five nothing game a little bit of a Slaughter there a repeat of the western Mass championship um also lost to Westfield and minute jog trying to fire up Alex sleeper hits the dirt and it's going to end up in a East Longmeadow goal kick now Brady I gotta ask you out of all the sports you you do what's your favorite one um honestly I only really do soccer and football but I'm gonna have to say soccer because um I guess they're more frequent I do them more frequently um but football it's also it's also a little bit slower I mean I I guess like the ball is always changing um in soccer and um football you know sometimes this is a little bit too much dead air for me so obviously football is awesome to watch can't even you know can't go wrong with football but um Eastlawn metal has been putting on a pretty good shawl the past two games I have been on lcat so probably soccer as of right now well I think we can all we can all say how good of a job you do so keep up keep up the good work man thank you I appreciate that a lot and Oliveri chipset to wretchen Barlow heads it Mike Monroe settles it down to himself passing it to wretchen Gretchen looking towards the top of the PK area and now soup sick ends up on bigen's foot Monroe a head ball over to Smith making their way up field Chad Santos with the ball sends it up to weslowski and Patsy throws it back to Morgado Morgado his pass goes off the head of Smith a little too much body contact there and he saw metal will have a free kick in their own defensive Zone going the other way Mr a bad any uh people you've seen that have stood out to you on East Longmeadow this season so this is only my my first game I've I've attended but I think so far I like what I see from Zach Richard good to see him you know be be in the program now and also who else we got out there my yeah Mike's been Mike's been phenomenal with two goals yeah Monroe certainly has a lot of speed up top yeah and he uses it to add his Advantage also kind of a stockier kid so uses his strength and get body position and able to beat a lot of people that way is Mike a two-year three-year Varsity guy what is he I I'm not really sure I think he is a three-year um I know he started last year starting this year so great good definitely been a valuable asset absolutely I have his brother Dave in class and hopefully he follows the same footsteps as uh as his brother hopefully how's the hockey team looking this year hockey team yes I heard big things from Aidan Nasher yeah Teddy Kuhn the three of us we are the captains this year and uh expecting big things out of um East longmeadows hockey program we're gonna give a shout out to Colin Sherwood Colin we're gonna need you buddy we need you to come play for us um would love you too I believe in all the islamo's history we have never won a hockey western Mass Championship let's make it the first one this year we can change that around and make history but as far as I mean you are the basketball coach so how is East London basketball going to be this year yeah so we'll see we uh we lose six guys from uh from last year's team but that just gives more opportunities from some new guys to come and play um but we'll see develops um you know she grows physically also mentally as a player so we'll see should be a good season man it's always fun very exciting winter ahead of us menachog making their way downfield Noah Dunn with the ball Crossing it looking far side and it's blocked by Zach Richard and kick sent way over the crossbar Morgado has to chase that one down no ball boy in sight I've heard a lot of complaints as well about the ball boys here at the East Longmeadow Turf uh I guess they're not really doing their jobs and kind of just lingering around um now all those complaints coming from I got I'm curious couple of soccer players yeah okay um the AJ being one of them obviously we'll talk through the higher ups and get that all they'll figure out oh yeah yeah for sure but uh you know morgato does not like to go retrieve the balls now Brady what sport do you think soccer resembles the most hockey what do you think that's actually a tough one um running wise I would compare it to LaCrosse okay I can see that um obviously a lot of moving parts lots of people on the field Morgado Scoops that one up no problem especially when we talk about the concepts of spacing right cutting moving I think about all kind of all kind of applies to soccer and even even basketball too it all applies Tyler wretchen with the ball he's got some space tries to rip one on and it's blocked by subsec ends up on the foot of McCarthy and that goes wide in the net 23-45 remain in the second half East Longmeadow up two nothing looking to clench their second win of the season Ben Wilson will be taking the goal kick for minnichog Brady what is your favorite elhs athletic moment your past four years uh oh I mean besides all the hockey moments with uh we've got all the international well yeah I mean there's it would have to be a hockey moment now if it was not a hockey moment I do also play baseball um and my favorite highlight from this past season was actually um I hit a ground rule double at spec Pond against minnichog a one hop over the fence uh right Phil there's a nuke it was a nuke okay but um in one hopped over the fence I stopped on second base and then the Umpire waved me and said I hit a home run so I love that there we go all four bases and uh recorded my first High School home run what a memory there oh it was awesome tell your kids one day about that absolutely foreign any more else to come to your mind not to get you off track here but uh I'll be honest I don't know that much about soccer at all so that's why I'm trying to get you out of track a little bit um I'm not really sure honestly now relating to myself last year's soccer team had some unbelievable moments I mean the overtime comebacks the PKS it was unbelievable and they're run in the state championship and even in the western Mass unfortunately it's an end the best for you as they lost the Ludlow in the western Mass Championship but it was it was unbelievable to watch them play and he was such a good group of guys yeah they were they had a lot of chemistry together and even that game they were downwards or four goals they were down by I believe it was yeah four three or four I wasn't at that game but I keep kept hearing about it I wish I was there but I think that team was just like destined for Success absolutely all the seniors they had and I had a couple of guys on on basketball like Luke Mazza and those kids was great kids worked hard and they really earned that definitely some we do have some veterans still on this team so hopefully their leadership will kind of shape all the underclassmen we got to get our guide Gus back absolutely yeah Mazza suffering an injury last night to his leg and is unable to play today and a great play there by Patsy diascoli A sly tackle to prevent minnichog from entering into the attacking Zone and here comes wretchen working with Richard what a pass Richard back to wretchen and he can't catch up to it on the sideline and it flows Straight Out of Bounds minute chalk throwing Ben Wilson with the ball and he'll launch it towards Midfield where it ends up on the foot of Cam ice a Brady did you ever play soccer what's your soccer background at all I did I actually played for about close to 10 years I'd say um but once fall hockey I kind of got into that and especially are special specializing in that started too yeah started to interfere with if I wanted to play in high school I do miss soccer a lot I do miss the games um miss my teammates it was a lot of fun back in the day when I played in middle school and um definitely would love to just I don't know I'd pay a lot of money to just go play one more game but uh now how much money would you pay a couple hundred dollars honestly for talking reality here um yeah Club College yeah College I mean a producer told us about that in the club College yeah I did retire but uh I guess I could shake the dust off the cleats get back in the game trade the skates in for the cleats yes Harrison with a quick shot on that and Morgado Scoops that one hopper up and settles his team telling them to make their way up field and he sends one Sky High a moon ball yeah Moon ball there not too much distance on it lands short of the half and free kick here for minnichog Zach Richard getting in the way a little bit causing Barlow to hesitate and now soup sick will reset and take the free kick great sight to see with the game today I thought the games were going to postpone early on the morning look look uh not too Pleasant outside it's like a completely different day right oh absolutely it's like I don't know someone hit a light switch down pouring earlier this morning and uh for up until about three o'clock-ish yeah um overcast and now it's absolutely gorgeous out 60 degrees beautiful fall weather can't beat it now kind of previewing hockey a little more um how are you how are your top guys looking how's Aidan Asher looking how's Teddy uh K looking what's what's the scattering report looking like on yeah absolutely I mean obviously these guys are my teammates so uh they're my line mates they gotta hype them up as much as possible but uh definitely got to get some we got some work to do yeah let's get on the ice and uh get some chemistry going early that way we can jump right into things I went a couple games last year and and I was surprised at a quick Teddy and and uh Aiden are you know yeah I got a lot of speed I've seen those two guys in the hall you know they don't move that fast to class but they move fast in the ice so it's uh it's it's funny to see yeah yeah they certainly are uh very kind of uh lackadaisical in the hallways when it comes to the books but uh but you put a puck in front of them they're go go hey that's good we'll take that we'll take that but um anyone else you look forward to seeing this year or taking big steps I mean definitely a lot of positions to fill um we got a young team um for hockey and uh definitely need some people to step up this year now last year good eighth graders play was that the rule uh last year we did not do that because of um our coach likes to uh he likes to yell a little bit and he thought that he didn't want to scare off the eighth grade right there so yeah I feel that so before they even entered high school he didn't want to scare him off so uh we decided not to do that last year how many years has coach uh Reed been been coaching hockey team for he has been I mean yeah like 26 years he's been there for a long time wow um coach some of the opposing high schools coaches okay um so yeah he does a great job with your program and great job with the field hockey program yeah very dedicated you can tell he's passionate about it puts a lot of time into it yeah we definitely would love to win him one as he has never won one before so would feel good yeah now who do you have in Gold this year this year Well goalies this year uh Patrick McGillicuddy and own read but um definitely looking to hopefully grab Colin Sherwood who would be a senior was did he play last year he did not know I believe he's playing uh Springfield picks club team so I wonder why do kids do that as opposed to playing the high school team is it like a recruiting pitch thing or yeah more so recruiting um you know if you play Premiere Hockey League you know get you a little bit more looks Morgado has come out of the net on that one and never never really much of a hockey guy man to be honest I played learner skate when I was a kid but that was a yeah hockey definitely a great sport but never really got into basketball it's okay so I can't I can't I can't be on me yeah I can't be on the same page as you there but that's right that's why we're calling soccer right that's why we're both calling soccer Mutual Nick Bradley racing up the far sideline he's got some space looking for Monroe Monroe cuts inside the Box get a third golden Knight we'll see back to Bradley well here we go oh close look I believe that's McLaughlin he scored he scored last night right I believe so oh a tough one there yeah that is Joe mcloggen and he had a wide open net just couldn't quite bury it but he's certainly stepping up in his role as a freshman yeah it speaks highly of the player you are as a freshman a good meaningful Varsity minutes absolutely they have a couple on their team right here right a couple freshmen players yeah they do uh definitely some younger guys freshman and sophomore Shane McCarthy um I believe Luke Lucas shabelli I think she's in Shea she's a sophomore right yes McCarthy and obviously mcloggen yeah Harrison with the ball at Midfield Biggins chips it back up and Jake Barlow gets a header on it and it spits out to Bryce Barlow and Josh Riley contesting on the sideline Barlow jammed up by Patsy diascali a great play there Mike Monroe a nice back check on Barlow prevents him from getting a clean foot on it and now the balls splits the D ends up on sup sex I'm definitely butchering the name sup six foot my apologies these guys have to be gassed by running all down the field so many times I know soccer guys do it it's tough Joe president with the ball in Midfield looking for an open teammate he'll find Bradley Bradley back to Riley and Riley will throw it to the middle of the field nobody home Monroe got some numbers signs Joe McLaughlin and Harrison makes a good defensive play to break it up and that ball goes out of bounds it's gonna result in an East long metal corner kick so another offensive opportunity for East Longmeadow to capitalize here some subs coming in for East Longmeadow Zach Richard will be placing Shane Smith and Tyler wretchen also entering the game [Applause] replacing Jill mcloggen Joe president will be taking the corner shout out to Mr Smith cracking me up up here I guess that inside the park hormone was legendary I I guess so yeah it was not inside the park it was a one hop and I stopped on second base so now I think our producer's telling us as a top five moment in Hellcat history right oh absolutely and the legal throw I believe it's gonna be a minute chalk throw in now thank you for joining us today on our live stream this is our first soccer live stream of the season and hopefully we'll be able to bring you many more we know sometimes you might be busy just need a quick lcap rake Monroe trying to direct some defensive traffic big kick and he'll Step Up with Barlow and subsec firing the muscle there big body check and that ball goes out of bounds yeah I like the like the uh the assertiveness there right we like that I guess he was getting a little uh he wanted some action and he's certainly has some words I'm not sure for you but uh probably just directing traffic hopefully I think he's just saying we love each other high school he said hopefully that's what he said Riley stepping up and the ball goes off of him Ryan Atkin to retrieve gives it back to sepsick and his throw in ends up on the photo weslowski to the middle to barkiom soup sick sends it inside chased down here's AJ and Morgado again coming up with a save 10 45 remaining in the second half of the game East Longmeadow still up two nothing the moon ball Mike Monroe chasing it down trying to get his third oh nope thank you Monroe with both goals this afternoon another sub checking into the game for East Long medal number five Andrew Oliveira we're replacing number 14 Josh Riley islamedo does have a football game tomorrow night um we're gonna go 3-0 yeah hopefully I know yeah I will be calling that game um so if we are going live which we will be tomorrow night at seven o'clock I will be calling that game so feel free to join us if you cannot attend just throw it on in your household and your comfort or your own home either on the TV or you can just listen to my an annoying voice for a little bit we call the game with Brady um that I'm not sure Chad O'Brien is kind of my go-to guy but uh not sure he likes to be in the student section for the football game so he's not a hockey guy right yes he is so perhaps him but if not well so be it looking to go through no first time probably in a while I don't think they went 3-0 last year were they what was the record last of the football team yeah um that'd be a I'm not sure if they want like 500 maybe they might have been four and four or three and five somewhere around that area but um yeah hopefully they can go um 3-0 I mean they've been absolutely dominating the past two games it looks like a lot of guys stepping up absolutely yeah yeah they won 50 nothing their first game of the season and then their home opener here most recently 56-nothing so two shutouts rolling keep going 106 points scored ball at Midfield Monroe and Richard playing patty cake ball spits back out wide and here comes Bradley and he'll be contested by supsik Joe presnell creates some space for himself to Richard Richard tries to chip it looking for Monroe in the middle Ben Wilson steps up to grab it Patsy diascoli can't seem to get it up field minnichog making their way Ben Biggins there to assist and he'll send it up to wretch and wretchen settles it down with his heel a lot of young guys playing here a lot of young guys playing Brady he's good yes it is a lot of young guys a lot of young guys Cassie the sophomore what else we got there Gretchen's a softball right I believe so yeah all these guys underclassmen the future's looking bright against a very much older miniature team minute chog only has three underclassmen on their team so much older and experienced minnichog Falcons team in in Eastlawn metal is just showing it's just showing the grit that they have today especially in the past two games I think a challenge too coming into the season was you know that standard of they made to the final four in the states right like that's that's a hard hard thing to match up to so they're they're playing well so far absolutely but obviously this is a brand new team and it was a lot of fun last year but they've got a new uh We've Got a New Journey to partake in and new story to write so hopefully they can replicate it but minute Chuck making their way off field and that one is shut down by Andrew Oliveri should end up in a minute chog corner kick and now I believe the ball boys are just completely absent they have left the playing field now what's one rule change you would make to soccer if you could make a rule change what's that with one rule change you make the soccer or with the way the game's structured if you couldn't make one change oh that's enhancing that is that is a tough one I'm gonna have to uh let that one marinate for a little while um I guess the how about the flapping I mean obviously you don't see it as much in in high school but in the pros especially I mean these guys they just they get a pinky push down yeah they're down for five oh yeah yeah so and then they but then but then when the card comes out they're all good you know let me throw an idea at you ready here we go this is my idea two less players in the field and make the field a little smaller maybe more goal scorer who knows this is my that's my my thought yeah great yeah I don't know I always think about it would be interesting yeah like indoors yeah I kind of kind of like indoor yeah you got hockey if I could make one change to hockey I think make it a little bigger a little wider total opposite that's what I think okay so a little bit of I think they do have obviously there's two types of rings you got the NHL rings then you got the Olympic size ring Olympic is a little bit wider a little bit longer so um those aren't very common but they do exist so um a lot of practice ranks are those wider okay and you guys do your home games as Olympia correct yes Olympia Ice Arena big season coming up for the guys big season looking forward to that looking forward to it Mr a bad certainly a I'm the hockey hype guy big hype guy Sam Hanley with the ball in the far Corner passing it up to Shane Smith sputter's out towards the PK Mark and O'Toole Andrew Oliveri and there's me whistle another East Longmeadow free kick got a lot of those today so far we are now into the hot table final five table final five love it Eastlawn metal up two nothing now uh why are we going with a Hot Table why am I going with you know friendlies McDonald's yeah they they get enough you know I don't need no friendlies McDonald's hot tables are good family-owned business plus I work there so great paninis great paninis good save diascali able to recover and he'll clear it out of bounds should be a minute chog corner kick four minutes remaining El up two nothing now uh Brady last random question from for me of a game here but one guy from soccer you can recruit to hockey and why I ain't gonna have to be Mike Monroe he's just yeah okay he's just aggressiveness aggressive fast um stocky I mean and I think he's good friends with with you know Teddy you and uh yeah definitely definitely helped that culture lit up a little bit for sure yeah I can see that I could see Zach too retro I feel like he could he could you know get some get some some stick on the yeah absolutely make a difference love to see him get on the ice at some point a little pond hockey action yeah yeah Monroe not when I counted the pot lucky though we're talking you know get you guys at Western Mass uh Championship here let's recruit owl crew Zach we got Mike Monroe with a cutback moving he's pushed from the back blatantly bio tool another free kick here and he's a little slow to get up but and he's a little shaken up on the play but he'll Slide the shin guard back in and he's back up on his feet checking his looks to be his hip somewhere on the upper left leg 250 remaining free kick here from East Longmeadow just outside the 18 box Zach Richard will be taking the kick Ben Wilson directing traffic Richard rips one just over the crossbar that was a cannon what a kick there big boot he would be a heck of a field goal clicker there huh manicha quick in transition and there's gonna be another foul around Midfield yeah I believe our current kicker got up used to be a soccer player so you make great kickers right absolutely honors American going the far post looking for Hanley and it's a little Out Of Reach and Ben Wilson will have a free kick now Brady as this game uh comes down to the wire here once again man you do a great job here for for El Cap another I appreciate that we gotta make sure you uh do some some basketball games this year and will definitely be supporting the hockey team as well would love to absolutely love to I'm just following uh speaking of you know we were talking earlier a little bit about falling in footsteps and obviously my brother dobeck the former voice of the Spartans well still the voice of the Spartans but uh it's yeah it's close he's moved on to uh bigger and better things up at UMass Amherst and uh he's doing uh UMass hockey basketball football softball baseball pretty much all the sports um but he's loving in hopefully he's he'll be able to make a professional career out of it as uh that would be his dream Monroe for checking again and Wilson taking no chances and he's just gonna rip that one out of bounds Monroe already capitalizing on a mistake from Wilson earlier in the game and resulting in an Eastlawn metal goal a Brady Devin doeback wouldn't be a bad combo for a game actually the Thanksgiving game last year if we could humbled down a little bit well we'll bring him back for a game Wilson ripping it up field quickly 30 seconds remaining in the game Jack marrigan in a tussle and O'Keefe running up the sideline passes out to retchen Gretchen getting chased down by weslowski ends up on the foot 15 seconds here to pull out the W here Ben Biggins passing it back out to retchen Zach Richard we'll clear it up and that'll do it for the game East long metal clinching their second win of the Season against minnetonk another shutout for AJ Morgado back to back for him two nothing win and East Longmeadow is I'll tell you they are headed in the right direction right now they're definitely getting a lot more chemistry um they're playing more as a team a lot better communication and um great ball movement great speed out there what a game for uh Mike Monroe huh yeah Monroe with another a two goal game uh big leader big part of this team using his speed using his body his athleticness to get up the field and Morgado once again with another shutout great job from him good to see it getting his confidence up yep and I'm really looking forward to seeing what East Longmeadow has in the next few weeks hopefully those younger kids we get up to speed a little more right you get more game experience in and they keep uh keep the ball rolling here no pun intended right absolutely so thank you for joining us here today at East Longmeadow High School I'm Brady doback joined alongside the one and only Mr Brennan Abad thank you very much from all of us here at lcat have a great night

welcome in ladies and gentlemen to another exciting game of Columbia Eagles football here on kchs welcome into the aces wild pregame show my name is Alex Schlemmer I'll be doing your commentating tonight and we got another good one here tonight we got Freeburg in Columbia We Got The Midgets and the Eagles and a game that's always exciting it's always fun and you know what's going to come down to the end last week we had one come down to the end so hopefully uh this week we have another good outcome we've got blue jay night we got the junior cheerleaders coming out they'll be doing their performance here in about 10 minutes or so so we might try to get them on a little bit they're getting lined up and ready to go and all their parents grandparents are making their way so hopefully we have an exciting turnout for them then the Blue Jays they get to lead the way out for the Eagles here tonight and they'll be coming through the tunnel and something that they're going to get to do in a couple years and a lot of those kids that we have now as seniors got to do that as well like I said another big coca conference match up here we've got the Eagles the midgets both coming in three and one Freeburg last week got beat by Central 31-19 so they're coming in with a loss Columbia coming in after that exciting win over the shells 28-27 on that 67-yard punt return by Dom vagley so hopefully tonight we're going to have that exciting game and we'll see what coach Warner as he comes in and joins us now and coach welcome into the show the aces wild pregame show last week you said you guys came out a little slow a little flat what's the message of the boys this week at pregame meal that was sponsored by uh Reef Schneider so thank you Reef schneiders don't come out flat that's pretty simple yeah pretty simple message no I mean it's just one of those things that uh you know I told them there's a right way to do things there's a wrong way to do things and uh the right way is to get your mind right before the game and get your mind focused on on the task at hand and give me uh you know three hours of your time and be focused and and uh you know let the chips fall where they fall but if you're focused and you play hard and things don't work out it's a lot easier to take than if you if you're not prepared it's a pretty easy message three hours of your time you got the rest of the night to go out and do what you want and come off a game like last week that big exciting game what's your most exciting memory that you've had with Freeburg in your 22 years here at Columbia oh wow I mean it goes way back I think one of them goes way back to uh well it might have been the 2003 year and it was a big moment only because we hadn't beaten free Burger in many many many years and we beat them down at their place pretty handily had three rushers that all ran for 100 yards that night and Nick Slimmer Nate house and Andy May and that kind of started things for us but then obviously I think the uh the other two times 2008 we beat them uh here in a big game uh really put it on them and then again you know I'm probably uh what was that 2018 Nick and Sam's junior year uh playing them in the playoffs here after an exciting game during the regular season so there's a lot of them but none of them really probably overshadows the other but it's always a great game we play them always is a good game so tonight what's your game plan going in other than scoring more points in the opposing team and controlling the line of scrimmage what else are you going to do lock and Tackle you got a block you got a block better and then you gotta tackle more than them but no games like this really come down to a team that's going to limit their mistakes and the team that's going to not turn the football over we've got to be able to play solid defense we've got to make sure we don't give up big play too you know they've got a big play player in their quarterback uh the Stewart Kitty I mean he's is good and and you know they move him out of receiver sometimes too so we've got to eliminate big plays um and then obviously we just have to establish something offensively that um to where it looks like that we are in control of the game rather than just uh reaching the Hat hoping that we can have a big play somewhere you mentioned that last night on the Holton meets Coaches Corner so hopefully tonight you got the chips falling where they need to fall and hopefully the Eagles come out 2-0 in the conference and uh four and one after tonight's game so good luck tonight coach and uh let's have a victory all right thank you we're going to head to a break real quick we'll have Jared Jermain join us here at Columbia and we'll bring you the rest of the aces wild pregame show after this oh welcome into the perch here on the aces wild pregame show we got the perch where all the eagles parents will be hanging out and tailgating with the Columbia quarterback club uh Homecoming coming up the 50th year so October 7th game against the Salem Wildcats will be that homecoming game so come on down to the Columbia quarterback club's tailgate there's going to be some hors d'oeuvres some soft drinks water whatever you would like to have the quarterback club's going to sponsor that down here at the perch with all of our sponsors and parents Jared welcome in this week another conference game here let's talk a little bit about last week absolutely uh highlighted by that punt return but that was a team win from the new guys coming into the last guy in the last play and it was probably one of the best uh games that we've announced I'd say I mean we had a lot of fun doing that game um it was kind of back and forth it felt like whoever had the ball last was going to win and luckily we did so that worked out well you know you look at somebody like Cameron Yannick we talked about him on our walk over here that's somebody who hadn't seen the running back position this year and he had himself a heck of a night yeah he got I think we have it here about 16 carries last week so um got him going early I'm getting him some touches he runs really hard and then it's nice whenever you have guys like Brennan wike Wetzel too that you can distribute the ball out to and give number 12 a break now you flip it over to the defensive side of the game Mason Schnabel led the way I think he had 12 tackles something like that a name that we've said a couple times but maybe not all the time and last week he was there at every possible second and sometimes it was just they run into him and he did the right thing and held on yeah and what we talked about all year is having depth of that o line and d-line position um knowing that coach Baker is very very happy about having this group um having to put three to four different guys in the mix and then if those guys get tired you can play the whole new group in so it's nice to have that depth and now we talk you know we talked to Coach Warner just a second ago on the aces wild pregame show and he talked about you know he started a little slow hopefully we don't have that again this week we had those turnovers early in the game and we said you know that's not something that we're used to seeing not used to doing it happened we overcame it and then that led us to the 67-yard punt return and something that you were you were jumping all over me you had two great calls last week I'm going to say when Mason came in at wide receiver you're instantly over in the corner of my eye see you doing this you're calling for the pass and then you're jumping all over my shoulders during that uh that TD run so it's a lot of fun like you said and hopefully tonight we come into the Free Bird game hopefully have a lot of fun with that too and something I can go back on Coach Hunter saying is eliminating big plays I feel like our defense we always hunker down on first and second down and on third down is when we really need to really hunker down and um force him to punt the ball away I think third Downs are going to be a big thing for the Eagles defense Tonight third Down's in field position too I feel like we haven't talked much about that but that's a huge Factor on these big games so we talk about this Freeburg team quarterback that has been compared to a tag of Aloha I think that's how you say his name so uh and he's been compared you know you got two quarterbacks that are the same they can throw the ball they can run the ball they can catch the ball they can do it all so you look at this Freeburg team three in one they're coming off the loss to the central cougars but last year they beat us so they got a little bit of the upper hand you know they've got the upper hand from last year's win that they have and they got a little bit of Redemption on their mind from last week taking that first conference loss so what else do you see out of this Freeburg team um I think over the past to me I think over the past I'd say eight to nine years this has become one of the biggest rivalries uh that we face so um I think when whenever you know you're playing Freebird you know it's a big game you're both 2-0 in conference play uh you got to come in play pretty good and playing pretty good might not be good enough sometimes you know you get You Gotta Have Yourself a self a heck of a game what's your favorite I ask coach Warner what's your favorite freeberg memory um I'm gonna go I'll start with mine I'll let you think of it you know we went in and Coach Warner said I don't care if we win this game two to nothing as long as we get a win we won the game seven to six on a close game that coach Warner came to me and he goes slim what do I call and I said I'm not really sure nothing's working right now but luckily Charles Ferris was able to get one into the end zone and Derek hornbossel missed the first tackle on the kickoff at the 20-yard line and then made the tackle at the opposite 20-yard line so that uh that's my favorite memory what's yours um I'm gonna go whenever we were announcing whenever Sam and Nick were seniors and we played Freeburg in the playoffs and they had that Brandon main kid at home um Sam Horner I remember had a really big I think he had two picks that game and I just remember him looking over the Freebird sideline and their fans one time and just told him to be quiet so that's the one memory that definitely strikes my mind and you got to have that in those rivalry games you got to be able to hey be quiet a little bit gotta gotta have that flare and I think we're gonna have a lot of that here tonight whenever the Eagles and the midgets strap them up and get going so we're gonna head up to the booth we'll be bring you the rest of the aces wild pregame show right after this all right foreign [Music] foreign [Applause] future Eagles [Applause] [Music] [Applause] and your Columbia Eagles foreign [Applause] welcome back into the aces wild pregame show presented by Aces Wild video game and parlor just two minutes away from the opening kick where the Eagles won the coin toss deferred to the second half and the Freeburg midgets will be receiving we're gonna bring you the national anthem here in a second and Jared you watch that right there uh the junior junior cheerleaders they performed earlier tonight 184 students came to their Camp last week that was the record for them and you look at the Blue Jay numbers there was a whole train of them coming through yeah and I know that feels that's a great feeling for those kids running through that tunnel and all those fans cheering for you it's a definitely a great feeling for all of them and you look at the Players too you look at the Blue Jays what they do for the the Columbia High School team the organization you know it's a feeder program if you will you know there's a bunch of guys that get started at that underclass level and they work their way up so good job to the volunteers at the Blue Jay level for getting those numbers up and you look they have a couple different teams I don't know what it was like whenever you played did you guys have a couple teams at every age group uh yeah I remember I think it was my seventh or eighth grade you know probably sixth or seventh grade year we had two different teams in the same grade like so we had like two vars two luxury University teams and we ended up playing each other in the championship game because they had to split us up and I mean we both got to the championship so that was pretty cool well good deal now we're under a minute here the band's starting to get set up so Jared will flip over to tonight's game here what are your three keys going into the game and what are you looking forward to tonight um I think he plays limit those big plays like coach Warner said in the pregame show um I think anytime your defense can can hunker down like I said earlier it's pretty nice uh gives your offense a lot more things they can do I also want to see a little bit more uh other guys other than that number 12 down vaguely uh see Wetzel or wike guys like Yannick that we saw last week see him get in the end zone a couple times um and then just you got another home game and it's conference game and it's also one of the biggest games of the year Freeburg has turned into a major rivalry with us so um big game here tonight I'd like to see the Eagles get out to a fast start we haven't really seen that too much especially last week for sure Waterloo game was a little bit slow as well so uh we're gonna send this over now to the band as the color guard makes our way out onto the field we'll bring you the national anthem right now the colors are presented by Columbia High School's very own Air Force Junior ROTC the color guard is commanded by Cadet Sergeant Carson in Cloud flash other members of the cutter guard include Cadet Airmen Hunter corbus Cadet Airman Olivia care Cadet Airman Dylan Siebert and Cadet Airman Jacob Coons ladies and gentlemen the national anthem [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Applause] football time I don't think we've said that all year Columbia tonight gonna be coming out blue tops blue pants and the white hats Friedberg gonna have silver helmets white tops and the blue bottom is going to be a little bit easier this week seeing the numbers last week we had the yellow on the White made it a little tough to see but tonight we'll be able to see the visiting team real well the Freebird midgets are led by captains number 11 Noah Peterman who's going to be a wide receiver tonight you'll be hearing his name quiet often number 24 Lucas pajak a defensive guy that you will be saying a lot with the tackles I believe he is their leading tackler Caleb Loftus a little bit of everything offensive and defensive and Trent little the big number 60 six foot 250 lineman and Jared who do you got for your captains for the Eagles I think we still Don vaguely out there number 12 uh Brennan wike number 23 Tom canning Stein number 73 and we had Carter Hicks number two and I did believe we won the toss elected to defer so that means Freeburg will get the ball first to start this game off shouldn't take anything for the coaches tonight if you can't get pumped up as a player on a game like tonight you're in the wrong sport or maybe you shouldn't be in sports but tonight's going to be a good one we like to thank Reef schneiders for donating the pregame meal tonight they had some grilled chicken I think green beans they had they had a full meal tonight so thank you to Reef schneiders for donating that meal and if anybody else would like to donate a meal get a hold of the Columbia school district and they will send you to the meal moms and they will get you squared away that's enough of the aces wild pregame show Don vegely kicks us off as it goes from left to right it will be recovered from the four freeburg's gonna go around fake the reverse Columbia does not buy it at it whatsoever a couple guys run past the Return Man and they're gonna get it back to the 20-yard line The Return Man there number 43 Tucker Murphy will be saying his name a lot tonight too Here Comes This Columbia Eagles defense last week uh I think we only had a couple miscues on the defensive side of the ball I know um getting getting down to those third Downs I know in week one uh that was our that was our biggest thing we would get to those third and fourth downs and then we just let up those big plays so that's something we got to eliminate tonight like I said earlier two defensive guys that will not be on the field tonight on at all uh Brandon Jackson he was one of the leading tacklers with 10 total tackles and then Sam dunny made his return last week but then went out with a knee injury Freebird gonna be in a spread and they're going to hand the ball off right away to the running back he's going to bend it to the left side he's going to make one man miss and Hicks a second man miss in Wetzel Hicks is able to recover and come out and help make the tackle with number 54 for the Eagles I believe that is Nick Janik or no I'm sorry Logan Hicks and on the defensive side I want to see Carter Hicks and Brendan White have some big games tonight they're both playing that outside linebacker position and freeburger is known to run a lot of flow stuff keep the keep the ball with the quarterback um so we'll have to see Carter Hicks and Brendan weich setting that edge and forcing everything back inside um so expect the big game from them hopefully gonna be doubles into the boundary sniffer back to the left side into the boundary as well he's going to motion to the right side with the running back second down and three they're going to flow to the right side with the quarterback number one stewart we talked about him he's getting all the way to the outside great job by the Eagles defense forcing them out and a loss on the play and they're probably going to run a lot of the same stuff that we run um since once I what I've heard their quarterback can run a little bit so um it's kind of good for us because we know we know our offense and we know that we like to give the ball the number 12 a little bit so we'll see if uh we can hunker down on that defensive side stop this quarterback not let him have a big night quarterback Cole Stewart coming in 239 yards rushing on the season loss of four on the play third down and seven looks like we're gonna have a blitz out of our linebacker Eagles got three men down and there's gonna be a second man Blitz and they're gonna have to run to the right side it's going to be a first down it looks like I'm gonna make one missed tackle and slips but tackled there after the first down is Mason vaguely just enough of a rain today to make it wet and a little bit annoying it's football weather I'll take it over what we've had the first three weeks so so that's good for a Freeburg first down gain of 10 on the play ball at the 32-yard line now Freeburg looking over to their coaching staff looks like they just verbally call the plays in taking their time getting the ball out or the call out under 10 seconds now on the play clock doubles to the right side the wide side of the field motion man here comes with the quarterback they're going to hand it off to him into the boundary he's got a couple blockers lowers the Boom and makes the tackle number 27 there for the midgets with the tackle or with the carry rather Caleb Loftus that looked like 54 I think that's Hicks he had to change numbers I think already this year and with no brand of Jackson we're asking him to step in that place for him um you got him and cam janick in there in those middle linebackers so we'll have to see some some big big plays from them tonight on the Run lineman for Freeburg once again coming out big they always have some meaty bones up there gonna be a counter this time coming right at us again he's going to get through the hole he's going to get a first down and he's going to be tackled by Wetzel I believe it is or vaguely couldn't see who came up last once again though that's number 43 Tucker Murphy number 13 13 Peyton Andrews with the tackle Murphy on the year 28 carries for 205 yards it's an average of seven yards per carry and four touchdowns another first down here for the midgets looks like we're going to send a man on a blitz I believe that's Hicks freeburg's slow and without it here time out didn't like what he saw nothing really nothing really going on that drive to be calling a timeout but he didn't like something there yeah well they have the wide side of the field over there to the right and we had Carter Hicks on this right side along with I think it was um his brother Logan Hicks right behind him kind of stacking up so that they would use that white side of the field I think they could have got some yardage out of it but coach on the freeberg side didn't like what he saw and burned a timeout early one thing that I like and I wish I would have been around for it you look at coach AMS in there he's always got that iPad in his hand all night long and he was up there with Schnabel showing him something they get replays in real time just that quick so you always look at coach Amazon he's got the headset on he's talking to everybody but he's got that iPad there and he's ready to have a replay oh yeah he's the first one to tell you what you did wrong right when you come to the sideline and nothing better than having a guy like that so doubles into the boundary with a sniffer back into the boundary gonna be a run right up the middle this time Murphy's gonna get it and it's just an ISO and he's blown up by three or four Eagles looks like Logan Hicks was there to lead the way Dom vaguely and it was ultimately Mason that came in there at the end as well great job by all of the defensive players coming up in a gain of three and like I said earlier with Brandon Jackson being out um he started last year almost all year um and knowing the system really well and stopping our Run game so these two linebackers are gonna have a long night if it's going to be like this rolling out this time as a quarterback Stewart he's going to find a man he's going to dump it over and it's going to be like by Brandon wike he was floating through the air there the first attempt to pass on a tough pass there too for Stewart he's having a roll and throw against his body and that's going to bring up a third and seven and Jared this was one of your keys tonight yeah you got what you wanted you got third and seven almost third and eight um you and you know they're probably gonna run a little play action try to get their quarterback some room to either throw the ball down field or get it with his feet like we do with vaguely but um yeah this is this is what you want you look there as Schnabel and Hicks were switching around there looked like Hicks is going to go to the strong side of the field they motioned the men into the boundary this time gonna be a handoff up the middle once again just ISO it's going to be good for sure maybe the first down might be a yard short get the index card out that was Tucker Murphy just running straight downhill and uh lowering his shoulder Murphy coming in 5 8 155 not a big guy but he runs pretty hard look at Cole Stewart same way 510 165 and then you look at number 14.

he's been there uh snifferback JJ wees 6-3 215. [Music] yeah that's something we needed last week early off in the game we need this crowd to get loud's fourth down they got loud for a second gonna be a bad snap it's gonna be a wildcat and it's gonna be fun it's going to be picked up they're going to call him down it's going to be a turnover on Downs for the Eagles [Music] just look like a whack wacky snap there and I don't know it was the running back in the Wildcat position so I think he was just gonna get that ball and try to get that one yard but it all starts with the snap you do those kind of plays so you don't mess up the handoff yeah can't have a handoff without a snap so the Eagles will come out now with their offense that didn't have a great night last week but did just enough to get the Victory and they're going to be led by senior quarterback Dom vagley who's going to have trips to his left side four down lineman for the it's going to be a pass to the outside they got two guys running arrows and both of them now as you look at wike looking over I don't know if it should have been or somebody needed to be deeper because yeah they ran almost the same exact route at the same yardage and you had one guy Garden that corner was guarding two people out there in the flat so that's definitely a miscue on that first down play doubles this time for the Eagles four down lineman two linebackers for the midgets gonna be a quick now route vaguely was wanting to slap and we ran a hitch so two quick routes there with nothing going come out slinging in huh coach Horner so six seconds I think taking off on this drive for the Eagles and this is where we usually see his uh famous rollout to the left side of the field trips to the left side gonna send a Man in Motion might even be a legal procedure because he was going forwards vaguely's fakes the throw and he has a man open in wike but it goes through his hands in a quick maybe 10 second drive there for the Eagles vaguely was looking deep he had his checked on man wide open and wiped but it falls incomplete through his hands Hudson Bryant right there he was your uh motion man you have a motion but he was almost moving forward that's what I was saying maybe illegal procedure and moving that motion out to this side you're thinking maybe you can pull a safety or a linebacker to follow that running back to this side and then you're gonna throw it to your left um but vaguely couldn't really find anyone open in the first two three seconds of his drop back so try to get it out the wike down great punt by vaguely it's going to be fair caught waved and caught at the freeberg 17 we're gonna stick here with it like to thank our sponsors once again Reef Schneider is donating the meal tonight we'd like to think the new signs have you seen the new signs that are out there this year they were all donated as well so we used to just have those little two by two signs they've got some pretty fancy one out there that are all brand new and looking good so that Friedberg offense was able to start a little bit of something but Eagles hung tough on that fourth down four stay turnover on down so let's see if we can do it again Freeburg 701 on the play clock or on the game clack rather starting from the 17 motion man gonna be another high snap brought down handed off up the middle as the Freebird running back he's gonna get to the 25 and that's Murphy once again and right now the Eagles don't have an answer for up the middle yeah and they're I think they're going to keep running at number two Carter Hicks they've been doing that first first drive and they had some positive yardage and looks like they're gonna go right back at it and they like what they see putting their 60 I think that he was one of their yep one of their captains um putting him Carter Hicks right across from him and I think friedberg's liking what like and what they see on that play doubles to the wide side of the field they almost take themselves out of the play as high as they are High snap once again it's fumbled and it's going to be caught and just dropped right away down is the quarterback Stewart Schnabel there to get the tackle I guess we'll give it to him and that's gonna be another third down and six we'll take that man that's already two bad snaps for Freeburg on two drives and it goes through the quarterback's hands too so yeah their High snaps and it goes through his hands so double disastrous there Jared I have papers everywhere right now I'm trying to figure out where I want them doubles into the boundaries gonna be another slow snap it's going to be the quarterback running to the outside Eagles force it back in inside gonna be close to the first down this official is saying he's short and they are going to say he's short two yards short good job by the Eagles and Maddox Stefan you going for it out making the tackle I am punting the two bad snaps we've seen tonight all you need is but give them give us the ball in the 25 yard line but you have a running or a quarterback that can do just about anything so yeah if he sees an opening he might take it and it is going to be just a quick punt I like that out of Freeburg there you make it look like you're gonna run and play but your quarterback's only five yards deep and he's able to get the pun off so he punted it from about the 25 Quick Change of possessions going on right now good for 36 yards and that drive only lasted two minutes quick possessions right now going in the ball game both teams kind of just getting a feel for each other see what each offensive and defensive line is like um coaches seeing where people are gonna be lined up over certain players so we'll see if we can get something going here on this second Drive I'm gonna call this a king set here I believe is what we used to call it Brandon wike your running back with Hudson Bryant they're gonna run it to the outside with vaguely he's got the two blockers he's got close to a first down and that's just a good get yourself moving bring up a second down and two and you like seeing that out of your two leading running backs yeah and I mean when you have Don Vega coming at you with two or three guys on in front of him uh it's gonna take somebody to I'd say at least two or three guys to get the Dom vaguely because he runs so hard um but great job they're running into the boundary and picking up the first down and see if we can keep this drive going Cameron janick in as the pistol back running back he's just gonna get the handoff he's going up the middle he just ran right by his lead blocker and he looked like I believe that was Kish that was the lead blocker he was yelling but you know what bud you got to get yourself going he can't wait for you you got to get moving gain of one for free bird hey Jack we said his name would be mentioned a lot and it is he gets the tackle looks like a cover two look for Freeburg here trips to the right side running back to the right vaguely is going to roll to the right good pick up there by the running back Bryant Wetzel makes the catch gets to the 40 and it's going to be another first down for the Eagles great job by Hudson Bryant making that block on the blitzing that other F on the other side wasn't going to give him that first he had him about two yards short until he saw this ref on this side walk up to the 40.

number 90 for Freeburg Keenan Marsh six five two thirty just got blocked by the 5 9 155 Hudson Brian good job Hudson gonna be a quick route to Brennan wike he's got five yards good blocking down field by wike the official from halfway across the Field's gonna throw a flag though that's a tough call I think I call block in the back or most likely if he sees from that far away except that's almost not even his call but he must have seen seen something he didn't like threw the laundry on the field holding is the caller blocking the back I guess is the call and it's going to be a replay of the down is that a 10 yard that's a spot foul so it's gonna be a loss of 10 so that's going to make it first down and 12. Yannick and Hicks come on to the field for the Eagles so then I got looks like one is this number three on this side is he playing corner I guess he's playing the first threat to him because they only have one free safety out there so if you put two guys out here and you run two goes down the middle of the field gotta adjust the clock they let it run there after the play coach stump comes over put some more time on the clock so we're gonna go King set once again to the wide side of the field it's going to be handed off good job there getting up the middle but just to be found by a bunch of Freeburg midgets there nothing going on that first down play brings up another second long and Brian on the camera and here on second down you just want to make it to a manageable third down you don't really want to take a shot down field you just want to get some of that yardage back that you could have got on first down try to make it a good third and six third and seven to give yourself a shot get a first down and put one in the end zone on this drive you look at wike here he is way out of the picture gonna be a fake gonna be a bootleg last time he's got Brendan wike he's going to make the catch good job by Brendan and like Jared one and he wanted a third and manageable it's a gain of six bring up third down and six and out of that formation you can do so much um I mean you got the up back and then the running back behind you and then you got number 12.

um I mean you could you could have 12 just run to the right right there like we saw earlier to start the drive off and just do a little outside Sweep with them and just have two lead blockers but nice little play call there to Bootleg out of it and find wike make it a third and seven third down trips to the left side running back to the right gotten to be a hard time and we're gonna get them yeah we've been we've been doing good on that this year I don't think every time we do a hard gun I don't think we've jumped off sides one time knock on wood but yeah Don Bailey does a pretty good job of selling that hard count and making you jump off sides now you got an easy third and one and if you don't get it you're probably going for it go for it yeah third and one same formation this time with the King to the right side three down line and four down linemen for the midgets Dom snapped the ball and the ball never showed up in his hands so that five yards that we just picked up on the offsides we lost on the Fall start by everybody but the center you ever hear those calls with the NFL foreign ER is typically Brennan Jackson but he is out this week with an injury so trips to the left side running back to the right gonna be a quick left throw for vaguely it's going to be caught by Brennan wike one-handed he's gonna gain four bring up a fourth and two fourth and three officially and I'm going for it Jared yeah I think so too um something I want to see how to like though is whenever he catches the ball it feels like he tries tries to go to the side just to try to get more yardage but put your foot put your foot on the ground get up field I mean you caught the ball at the I mean probably a yard past the line of scrimmage so if you're running Straight Out of Bounds might as well run forward and try to get those positive yards that brings up fourth down and looks like coach Horner is going to keep that offense on the field about a fourth and three maybe four I'll say three trips to the right side running back to the right side it's going to be a rollout with vaguely he's got a guy in the corner and it's going to be caught by the Eagles to the 10 to the five down inside the five yard line great call by the Eagles and they pick up the first down temporarily as there is a penalty flag on the field and it's gonna be coming back looks like a holding call on the offense great catch there by Nick Janet because he was wide open on the corner out on the Run by Dom vaguely there with the holding penalty a loss of 10 takes you out of future out of everything takes you out of everything we're gonna be punting it's a little disappointing but you have to be able to look at it and say hey we know we can run that play We like what we see so there is a positive to that I just think so you got the ball inside the five now you got the ball at the 50-yard line now you're forcing to kick the ball hopefully inside the five it's 140 on the clock in the first quarter punt is off and it's another booming punt great punt wait for the third catch and caught at the five I think if you're tuck your Murphy there you want to let that one go and see what happens but instead Murphy that kick had some backspin on I was gonna be inside the one having a guy like coach Kendall teach you those things man you become perfect at that so Freeburg will take over once again was that two drives zero points for each team yeah pretty good defensive start I I mean I guess you could say but going back to that last drive we had about three or four penalties that brought us back so see what we can do out here on this third drive on defensive side of the ball doubles to the right side run right up the middle once again gonna be chased down by a couple different Eagles Carter Hicks on the tackle Mason Schnabel almost had him in the backfield good job there by Mason getting in the backfield in a hurry that's the unfortunate thing there Hicks gets the tackle but schnabel's the one that blew that thing up from the start last week that first quarter probably took what almost an hour and now we're only got a minute left in this first quarter uh we've had a couple changing possessions turnover on downs and a couple punts gonna be doubles to the right side looks like it's going to be man out there they're gonna send a motion man it's gonna fake the motion they're gonna go up the middle this time it's going to be brought down Carter Hicks great job there buy both of them and Freeburg could run this to the end of the quarter if they choose and like I said that last Drive they like running at Hicks and Schnabel they like they like what they see running at those two guys um I think they got that left tackle was one of their uh captains that we saw out on the field before the game so they must like run in that play right at him and see if they keep going at him here on this third and seven I think this is a good move here taking this to the quarter you've got a third down and eight from talk about it a little bit over there this is a you're gonna have to uh get a couple yards here so that's going to do it with the first quarter is the Mandy McGuire group scoreboard is tied 0-0 after one quarter we're gonna head to a break and we will be back right after this tournament and shot an amazing [Music] ladies and gentlemen did you know that 2022 marks the 50th year of Columbia Eagles football on October 7th we are inviting all past football players and coaches back to CHS to help us celebrate 50 years of football we want to invite you the past players and coaches to attend the tailgate at the perch which is sponsored by the Columbia quarterback club that starts at 6 p.m so make sure you're down there at the perch get your tailgating on big third down and seven from the seven quarterbacks and a step back gonna step into the pocket he's going to gain six Logan Hicks not enough though and that's going to bring up another fourth down for the midgets inside the 15.

and Logan Hicks did a great job breaking down pitter patter in his feet because I mean if he makes that one if he makes that one guy Miss he's probably got a first down he's probably picking up a little bit more so great job by Logan Hicks to make that tackle there and hopefully Force another Punt and get the Eagles ball back this time a more obvious punting situation as Cole Stewart's going to go back into a normal punting spot as a fourth down and two from the 13. gets the pun off a low line drive straight out of bounds that's what you love to see there if you're the Eagles here now you got good field positioning you've ran where are they gonna a lot of different plays yeah I don't know good for 20 yards the Eagles offense is going to take over at the 33.

That official that time though he he didn't just pick a spot he he legitimately looked for where it was going to go hey and I'm not talking too much smack on the refs like I did last week so rough game last week yeah they were in the first half yeah we're down one first half was rough though man I tell you what came out with a W though so Eagles good field position once again tight end left sniffer back left another slow snap but he gets back it's going to be a gain of two ball came out but the Umpire is calling him down on the play one more thing about Homecoming coming up on October 7th we're going to recognize all past players and coaches on the field between the third and fourth quarter we ask you to meet with about four minutes left in the third quarter on the track when we will get you out so help everyone spread the word to pass players coaches whoever it may be we would like to get a good turnout 50 years the 1972 team they're going to have about half a dozen guys here so it'd be cool to oh we'll have to interview some of those guys have to get as many as we can yeah same formation for the Eagles second eight gonna be a Passover field and it's going to be Wetzel who's going to be open but overthrow them by about three yards that had six written on it but instead it's going to go incomplete bring up a third and eight and Coach owner really trusts Don Vega's arm must be feeling pretty good the night he came out on that first drive and through all three times and Don Vegas been slinging it around in this first quarter first half I should say so um maybe there maybe that's just a disguise for him to go off with his feet in the second half doubles tight for the Eagles good snap this time vagler's gonna have to decide what to do and he just throws it down pressured there by number 90 the defensive end we mentioned him earlier and Keenan Marsh and it falls incomplete nothing going for the Eagles offense and He's listed as six five two thirty on here you were talking about him in pregame saw him long legs out there big guy playing DN that can just get in the way and forces Don Bailey to have another incompletion and the Eagles to have another fourth down frederberg's gonna have to watch the football here fourth and eight at the 30-yard line I could see a hard count potentially coming right here instead it's gonna be a punt it's gonna bounce at the 15 and a great bounce for the Eagles as it goes out of bounds at the 10.

you just heard the Freebird coach better than the five so good punt there and I gotta get the defense to do something again and you might have the defense scoring tonight for the Eagles yeah I want to see a big hit force a fumble scoop and score something to keep going yeah we need we need a little energy here um so we'll see if this defense can finally get something going get a little energy and in this place try to get some points on the board Freeburg like we said taking their time getting their calls in usually we talk about the Eagles doing that friedberg's doing it to us tonight Eagles are still going to keep three down linemen kenningstein's gonna be your nose guard four or five linebackers for the Eagles stepping up doubles the wide side of the field they're gonna run it this way to us into the boundary gonna be good for two they're gonna keep their feet moving gonna be lost on the play actually Schnabel started that play too he's playing that left left tackle float Out to the Ball just flowed with this guy he was I mean his lineman was basically taking him to the ball and that running back tried to cut back up and Schnabel was standing right there kind of slowed him down didn't get the tackle but slowed him down enough for his other eagles will come in and finish the playoff Hicks got credit with the tackle he's that right tackle so he come across the field across the play to make the tackle motion man this time number 27 a slow snap back to him but that's all right he's going to be caught by Schnabel gain a one great job by Mason ball goes away your man goes away stay there looks like caning Stein came out is that Antonis in nope jokes in now playing those big third down here again and Freeburg hasn't had very good field positioning tonight um probably got three different drives of having third down and goal line right behind them so big play here Columbia brings pressure this time quarterback steps up he's got a man down the middle of the field that's going to be caught big gain there for Freeburg caught by number nine AJ Banks he got to the inside of Wetzel in the big first play of the game for either team takes the ball good for 34 yards and Freebird gets a little bit of breathing room now and that might that might be the first time we've seen Wetzel get get beat like that this year look at him he's playing 10 yards off here he was in this he was in that right spot too he tried swiping at the ball but Banks just went up and got it before Wetzel could go up for it getting in this time it's going to be brought down number five for the Eagles and number 57.

hits the tackle Loftus with the carry Maddox Stefan and Schnabel getting the tackle and that was all set up by Brandon wike at this outside linebacker spot forcing it back inside you had two blockers coming right at him and he takes the hit forces that runner back inside having two more Eagles come off make a tackle 8 45 remaining in the first half gonna be a rollout to the left side it's getting back there this is the tackle forces it out wide gonna be brought down by Yannick but Carter just about got himself a sack I keep calling Janet I keep screwing that up it's Logan Hicks number 54 tonight is Logan Hicks say it again so remember yeah maybe I should just say number 54 so everyone else knows that it ticks another third down here Alex third and ten I'm bringing pressure yeah I think I am too I think I'm I think I'm bringing number 12 on a blitz here I think last last week he kind of finished the game off with a blitz play that Force Roxanna to not score any point so I want to see number 12 make a play here but he's gonna stay in coverage they're gonna go up the middle this time and it's going to be brought down gain of five next tackle though gets the tackle as he trips the man up and you look down on this play or on that play there AJ Banks was the wide receiver down here and we had Maddox Stefan out he was going to be guarding them underneath and uh Wetzel was going to be over the top of them so Eagles weren't going to get beat by him on that play instead it's a gain of six fourth and four right 49 yard line look like they're gonna pin us deep do that one he's only five yards off the ball seeing that quarterback back there he could run it if he sees what he likes but he's gonna kick it away hopefully he gets an eagle bounce it's gonna bounce up to 21 sorry and it's gonna stay in bounds and be downed at the 13-yard line so 7 13 remaining on that Mandy Maguire group scoreboard Eagles and the midgets still tied 0-0 I already forgot how many punts there's already been at least four more than I think we've had in our scene all season so not much exciting stuff happened the big 34-yard pass on Third and tens about all that's happened tonight yeah that's been the only big play so I mean we'll take that no big plays besides that Zach Wetzel getting beat across the middle but that means it's our turn for a big play and see if we can get something going here and get inside the red zone Eagles are going to run it to the outside of the field great job by freberg forcing it in the inside vaguely might be a gain of one ran about 20 yards and only got one on the play second and nine nothing going on that one yeah and Freeburg did a great job there just flowing to the football you saw about five or six silver hats there I'm following number 12 and I mean watching the first three weeks of Columbia film I mean whenever you're watching film you know who to watch out for so um you know number 12 is probably going to get the have the ball in his hands most the time doubles here this time looking to the left side the whole time because he's gonna have a good touch pass there gonna be caught by look like Janet number 11.

there's Yannick good for Columbia Eagles first down what a rocket that was too and Yannick was kind of I think he ran an out route there got pushed out whenever he was going up to make the catch and luckily enough puts gets one foot down high school rules good enough for Eagles first down keep this drive going gives Eagles a little breathing room too they got the ball at the 25 now 6 30 remaining gonna be a handoff this time to wipe to the right side of the field he's gonna get a loss of one look at Schnabel he's three yards in the backfield there wasn't able to cut it up like Jared wanted like you said you almost got to look for a cutback player nothing's in front especially on that outside Zone I mean yeah you want to you want to get to the outside and try probably get to maybe between the hash and the numbers but um I mean once you run past those numbers there's not a lot there's not a lot of places you could go so it's nice whenever you can get up field earlier and just get two to three yards instead of losing one Eagles are gonna have doubles to the wide side of the field sniffer back with the pistol back they're gonna run it up the middle this time haven't ran it up the middle yet it might be good for about six and bring up a third and five which we talked about earlier being a key you want to have these situations that you're manageable and you have a full Playbook now and I'd almost go trips to the boundary I'd put trips to the right side of the field and have have three guys follow all those guys on the outside and put down just give the ball a Don Vegas coming this way let him do his thing um with this big field that they got over here so um coach Warner gonna call time out and discuss it big play in this game once again blue jay night here for the Eagles the junior Eagles cheerleaders got out with their performance here earlier tonight 184 kids came out and did the camp and then Blue Jays with their record-setting numbers came out and led the Eagles through the tunnel so we'd like to thank all those volunteers at the Blue Jays once again thank our sponsors couldn't do any of this without you at Mandy McGuire group scoreboard still reads zero zero so got to get something going for the Eagles here now as coach Horner coach Kendall was out there coach G's just now he's coming in and out coach Amazon he's still looking at the uh the iPad down there so another beautiful night here of Cahokia Conference football weather is finally here big shout out to Coach G just turned 50 this week Big Five big 5-0 getting up there man getting more and more gray hairs so big third down for the Eagles third and five from the 30.

the Eagles will receive after our Century 21 halftime show so yeah being a big drive here if we can waste some more clock punch one in the end zone and give Freeburg maybe a minute left before halftime but yeah like you said Alex that would be real nice looks like man-to-man they're going to keep it inside with vaguely he's going to run to the right side he's got a first down he's to the 50. he goes out of bounds and that's good for Columbia Eagles first down he did the total opposite he put trips left and he ran to the boundary pretty simple play call there once you send that motion man out here like you said earlier you hope it takes that safety and that's what it did safety or linebacker it takes them out of the whole play basically because then that's another guy that Don Vega can just check off his list and say okay I don't have to worry about that guy anymore because I know I'm running to the right side and he just follows my motion guy all the way out to the left so great play call there by coach Warner and the eagles King to the right side into the boundary snap gonna be a quick hand off this time to like he gets up field he's got himself five yards keeps his feet moving lowers the shoulder and gets seven good positive run there for Brennan wike and Begley does a great job of Faking out that run after he hands it off because he he's hit number 60 on that far side I think it is 60 or 80.

I can't really tell might be 90. but he I mean he went after Dom because he thought he still had the ball so great job by Don Begley to sell that fake and because one of these times he's gonna pull that and if if 90's not there he's taking that to the house second and three this time we'll call it yeah we'll call it second and three four down alignment four linebackers for the midgets gonna be a pass play he's looking to wet so he's going to throw it down to the left side of the field it's going to be caught by Wetzel he's to the five gets tackled at the three first down for the Eagles what a beautiful ball from Don Begley there Perfect Touch on it you gotta where only Wetzel could grab it in great great hall by uh Zach Wetzel couldn't quite get in the end zone but puts us inside the five yard line and now if your coach Warner I'm taking a little bit more time off this clock before I'm trying to score some points here but I mean there's no points scored yet so maybe you just try to score whenever gonna be the same formation for the eagles they got everyone on the left side for the midgets vaguely is going to keep it he's going to get tackled no he's not he's going to keep his feet moving my goodness he's gonna have to make one more man good job blocking there lowers the shoulder into the end zone for Columbia Eagles touchdown oh my gosh [Music] that was a Madden play right there man [Applause] great job keeping your feet moving keeping the play alive and getting into the end zone now I'm usually on the defensive side when that happens in Madden you can't tackle on that game anymore wow what a play there by Don Begley just uses athletic athleticism and get out of that tackle and go run all the way probably 30 yards Cross Field just to get that other pylon and then run somebody over good snap good hold kick is up and it is good adding little issues with those Pats and field goals last couple of weeks but that's not the case this time we take a 7-0 lead with 401 remaining on that Mandy McGuire group scoreboard we're gonna head to a break and we will bring you the rest of the first half right after this this game [Music] Tom vaguely gets the credit for the touchdown there but whoever the wide receiver was on that far side we couldn't get a number the stalk Block in the play is going away from him the whole time and he stayed with his walk though and that's that shows there whenever you uh you don't take a play off Don baby's gonna kick the ball off here it's going to be caught at the 10 they're going to do this fake reverse again 43 is going to take it to the left side of the field and Columbia Eagles are all over it you know coach Kendall is probably all over that film right whenever I was probably Sunday or Monday and telling his guys watch out for this reverse because they'll fake it but at one of these points they'll probably give that ball off and you got to be awake for that it's a great job by the kickoff team there to bring up first down Logan Hicks gets credit with the tackle there with Brennan wike and really a lot of going on for that kickoff but no no gain out of it so it's going to be First and Ten freeberg from the 17-yard line Columbia would love to keep them out of the end zone here gonna be a run right up the middle and they got a big hole lowers the boom twice there runs over the first would-be tackler I think that's number 27 Caleb Loftus yeah he just laid the boom on him whoever that was my gosh good for eight yards clock is the friend of the Eagles Freeburg has called one time out doubles to the right side sniffer back left running back left second down in three 320 remaining in the ball first half rather low snap slow snap gonna be picked up Caught no dropped Snaps are taking a little while to get back to Stewart yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah good job there by Stefan on the defense I got a text he said that was uh Zach Wetzel on that block on that touchdown so he makes the big catch on I think it was third down and then makes the big block for Don Vegas on first down get him in the end zone put the Eagles up seven nothing here with the three minutes left and 17 seconds in this first half see if Eagles can get a stop go up the middle this time this Freeburg they're gonna have enough for a first down which is gonna take away my thought that I was gonna have and it'll be a new fresh set of downs for Freeburg I was gonna say if they get a stop here are you burn in a timeout and uh oh yeah I would I would have definitely because yeah you're forcing them Punt and then you can get one more on the board that first down time's Gonna Keep ticking and now freeburg's thinking let's take some time off the clock not get the Eagles the ball back and forth in this half doubles to the right side sniffer back right motions over to the left side with his running back there now that's a penalty they have too many guys moving false start on the midgets so it's going to be a loss of five and you look during that play on that motion you had the running back and the sniffer back both go in motion and they both look at the quarterback like oh wait which one are you sending me could not do that in football first down first and 15 now 224 and Counting in the first half doubles to the right side 10 seconds on the play clock running back left sniffer back left Hicks is moving to the inside White's gonna come they're going to send motion men and it's going to be a pass they're gonna have to throw it and it's going to be about five yards short good job on the defense by number 13 I believe it is for the Eagles quarterback tried to throw it but he was a couple of yards short Peyton Andrews the corner over there second 15 206 are you thinking about timeouts again now Jared um yeah for you get stop here on second down you start thinking about it rolling out to the right side quarterback's got to throw across his body again it's going to be caught and it's gonna be inbound still the official said he got tackled in bounds loss of one on the play 155.

you see coach Horner's moving up towards the coaches he saw coach Jermaine there put his hand down telling him to calm down get one more stop here and you're able to save one yeah you can because we've already burned one of them quick play hereby Dom's gonna get to the backfield he's going to make a loss on the play Shout out time out by the Eagles at 133 by number 12 down Bagley timeout for the Eagles got the clock shut down at 131 we'll see if they're gonna put two seconds on I'm going for a block here now Jared yeah Don Bailey on that play shot out like a cannon I think he's was playing safety but he moved up to the middle linebacker for that next last play and he was definitely blitzing there and blitzed perfectly I mean all they ran was a simple half back toss to the left and Vega he was there to finish it off now you have fourth down third overall with 130 left I mean yeah you can either block it here or I mean even if you don't you get the ball I'd say at 40 or the 50.
