I need you to know when parents know this every year that Canton pulls out at 7 30 on Saturday night and no you cannot stay with your child Saturday night for the delegate dance or Sunday morning for the final session because that violates the Yale policy we have to be in agreement with their contract and the parents are simply not legally responsible for them when Canton is sponsoring this event so they know that in parent permission slip that when they sign on to it they're agreeing that they can't stay there and they they even if their parents stay one year that happened and I kind of had a cow but um so they're in the ration I was inside the permission slip kids need to do their homework I need to do my homework so so it usually you know the kids they're like fine we're out so that's 7 30 on sun on Saturday night so Thursday leaving school so they only miss Friday school and then of course Saturday we're working and we work again until Saturday night they're tired and it's it's an excellent program it's an International Conference which makes it unbelievable there are kids that will fundraise around the world for their entire year and this will be the lifetime event for them whereas for Canton it's only an hour away and that like when they when they start talking to kids in their delegations you're from where and how long have you been Jordan Azerbaijan Saudi Arabia China these kids come in and they meet with them and some of the rooms are 15 like I said some of them are 40 it all depends on the topic and that here's the cost of the Board of Ed the transportation here is is because of the busing back and forth I've done some shopping I've tried to look at other places like Student First and depco by far enlargement um Martel is the cheapest bus that I've ever experienced and then we have the advisor fees in school tuition entrance fees that they sometimes charge and it's been year to year this way students for Yale pay for their own hotel so right now what I'm accepting from them is a pair of permission slip with the understanding we pull out on Saturday and a deposit for the delegate fee that way I know they're committed and then I go through the process of booking the hotel and then I distribute the hotel costs amongst the students I go I do get the ratio 1 1 to 10 for chaperones it is an overnight trip for teachers so we do need to put substitutes in there for Friday but it's either time Thursday night it is their time uh Friday night and it's their time all day Saturday so the distribution for the cost for The Chaperone hotel room plus their parking plus their meals which is like a little snack in the morning lunch does go out to the students it's my way in which I can say to a teacher come on I need you completely chaperone okay so that sort of helps us out a little bit and over time I've got teachers like pick me pick me and I think that's a really good experience um there are persons that go to these particularly Yale that might bring a yes speaker these people come from all over the world they come from the UN itself they talk about global issues depending upon the target of the day so the experience and the exposure is phenomenal um over time we've had best delegation which means Canton kids have worked together in a group of three or four they've done their research they've done their presentation they've controlled the room in the debate and in the end judges for that debate has awarded them the best delegation that's happened twice at University of Hartford we've had a best delegate out of Yukon come out of here Clark wahlberger I don't know if you remember him he's a former Canton student out of 350 kids at UConn they picked him to be the best delegate out of all of the kids around the state of Connecticut and New England he walked down from this Auditorium everybody stood for him because he was the best Delegate for that particular year I think that was his senior year um and then what happens with you Hal the reason why we go to that is because I call that a JV meet high school kids are in charge of it so it gives our high school kids an opportunity to run it be part of the diocese so they learn parliamentary procedure they're committed to going they're committed to two training sessions at Night by the world affairs Council so they're given that exposure to very Del you know dedicated training in the Parliamentary procedure then that rolls into the final piece which is our feeder program in-house here at Canton these kids then help me with the seventh grade model un that happens in this classroom or these rooms in May and then it's also a theater program because they help my teachers then with the seventh with the 10th grade curriculum current Global issues because that's parliamentary procedure too so our kids are applying what they're learning as the club is feeding then our curriculum um so I think that's kind of neat and um you know who knows maybe the run for office which I just have to say this kid is a former high school graduate from Canton High School and he did the model un he went to college at Union College after graduation and he felt he wasn't challenged enough he applied to Yale because he heard about and knew what Yale was he said to me you know I didn't know what Yale was I mean I knew what Yale was but I didn't really think of it but then I did the model un and I got to learn about Yale so he said you know let me apply to Yale my sophomore year so he transfers to Yale his sophomore year in college he's now a graduate of Yale he pays for it through ROTC four years active duty is now a captain of his ROTC unit he's on active duty and he's running for office where in the Fairfield County area I don't know the district number but it's Fairfield it's um it was just down there the other day what's outside oh sorry state center yeah is that Carter I'm sorry I'm sorry it's Tim Gavin Tim Gavin Jim Gavin's son um so they're residents here in Winstead where am I nope um so um it was really great to see the the the basically the fruition of a program that started with him and now he's actively running for office and to watch him sort of grow up through this program it's just for me been surreal it's been awesome so anyway that's what you're approving or hopefully going to approve when you do your first read and talk it over I'm here for questions if you need okay thank you for that presentation really interesting by the way so questions Ryan I'll start with you anything okay and that's I I was on mute sorry no no questions students on campus at this time or this is this break no they're on campus okay so um the Thursday night Friday Saturday Sunday there's fewer students because obviously fewer students but the building is more available to us so that's why we're not there in the middle of the day but yes the college kids are there the college kids are at UConn college kids run it their UConn Yale kids run it at Yale and Hartford University Hartford kids are there but it's it's not like I don't see that much Erica uh how many students per room typically four four depending upon the funding and how I can work this out sometimes we've had a three so you're staying at just a general Hotel yeah there are uh four contracted hotels with the Yale organization so they do a special deal because it's over a thousand kids that come in so they're reserved rooms on the side with that deal so we've come from La Quinta which was interesting I've evolved away from La Quinta and we've done um the University of uh what is it my goodness New Haven hotel which is right around the corner we don't do the Omni because it's too expensive um we do bust down there but we don't bust back as a way to kind of cut costs or defray some of the costs to the district um because the other two conferences are are very bus involved kids can choose where they want to eat so that might defray some costs they can bring their own bags lunches if they choose to and the variety of food is like I said it's an open if you will Zone and we have meetings about go zones and no-go zones um and the kids are usually pretty pretty respectful of that thank you Joe it's a great program Laura I have a long history too the Yukon and the uh trips are not overnight no school bus back and forth or parents School Bus Tracker did you notice Mr Wahlburgers interview on The Today Show I did not yeah um Peggy I'm sorry Russell I missed you I'm good thank you Peggy anything else yeah Kim okay we'll make this part of the first reading and then we will uh look at it the next but I think everybody's your favorite is your you do one a month right no two two so the second Thursday the second Tuesday in um October October 11th okay will that work out for you yeah would you like a soft vote on this just no that's okay okay thank you no I just remind us the dates of the trip yes okay so the first one in November which is Yukon the first weekend okay Hartford is December 3-4 and then the Yale one is in January 2019 2021.

and Dean Morris is a consultant that we contract with she's been working with us for six years so she and I facilitate these sessions and all of our new teachers are part of these sessions and I was so inspired today by the new teachers that we've hired how fortunate we are that we were able to hire experienced teachers who had experience in other districts that wanted to come to Canton as well as brand new teachers and we already started learning so much today in our two hour session so I just wanted to let you know that we kicked that off this year and that aligns with our goal our goal of establishing a more positive School culture in each of the schools and providing our students with that social emotional Learning Foundation which we know is so important if they're going to achieve in high academic level those are the three items I wanted to report to you on tonight and I'm happy to answer any questions that you may have questions for the superintendent Kevin for the Academy um because every year you new teachers who have not been through it can can join on right what's the percentage would you say like a rough estimate of Staff that's been trained I mean I know we get new staff too but you think that yeah so we've had over a hundred teachers trained and um we have about 144 certified teachers so some of the staff members are non-certified um so I'll need to count up the number of certified but my plan was over seven years to train the entire certified staff so we are getting there it's a very interactive session which is why it would be challenging to have all of the teachers together in one room together to you know together so to have 15 to 25 participants this year each year is what we're that's what our goal is and it's been very successful it's spreading By Word of Mouth one staff member who's been with us for 23 years said she felt the calling to be here this year and that that was terrific to hear she's hearing staff that wants to go gets an opportunity everyone's invited because he works itself out yeah um in our last meeting our bus schedules just weren't uh um in sync completely has that been work worked through so that's improving it's improving Lou um no parent uh concerns have come to my desk over the past two weeks about that yeah but if parents do have concerns then they should reach out to Donna misakowski our business manager who's also our transportation coordinator and we'll resolve that I know there was one just resolved this week um absolutely there were a few factors involved with that one but um four weeks now into the school year our bus schedule should be working out but if they're not we want to hear from you because we'll work closely with Martel and do what we can within our control to assist so we adjusted some of the times of some of the buses that we're getting there earlier but the time students can go in the high school is still 7 20.

oh it is okay but it's working out it's working okay and then um just I know we had that one cam up do we have a report on is that working is it um is it functioning the way it should yes the camera is functioning as it should and later on in the agenda I'll bring to you um a final proposal based upon what we discussed at the last month's board meeting about purchasing nine additional cameras great okay so um you'll have a chance to take action on that later on in our meeting okay any other questions Ryan do you think for the superintendent okay thank you all right so the Cherry report today is going to be a little lengthy um I have nothing to report so I have nothing to report to the board today so that's great Okay so we've re-jiggered our um agenda so that you can the public and whoever's on um via Zoom had a chance to hear these reports and kind of catch up and now we move into our public forum so you can tell that we moved it back a little bit just so that we can uh we can report better to uh to the parents uh so they can hear some of the things that are going on so with that we go into public forum and uh we'd love to hear your comments or questions we try to minimize it to keep it to three minutes uh if you could and uh so I'll open it up if you could just state your name and your address for public Farms yes sure hi I am Margaret Lynch and I'm at 42 Park Drive uh it was awesome being able to go to open a house this year in person and seeing the teachers that my kids have you know they're really engaged personable I really appreciated the glimpse into their daily lives however I was totally horrified when I looked up on the ceiling and saw Wi-Fi routers what I believe to be Wi-Fi routers on the ceiling in every classroom in very close proximity to our children's heads my children have been instructed to look up and move their seat away from these toxic radiation and spewing antennas but most parents and teachers and you know administrators they really don't know but these things are dangerous to be this close to um and whoever okayed for those to be on the ceiling obviously didn't know either so I kind of thought about it for the whole week like should I like comment on this and I had a whole bunch of questions for you all um so one like do you know that the current FCC human exposure guidelines to RF radiation were developed back in the 1980s and adopted by the FCC in 1996 so that's a really long time ago the guidelines were developed by Engineers not biologists and they're based exclusively on thermal for heating body tissue those effects on the full-size adult male not on children not on women and they totally ignore non-thermal biological effects uh did you know that many negative non-thermal effects from this microwave radiation include genetic mutations egg and sperm mutations infertility miscarriage behavioral issues like ADHD autism anxiety depression headaches flu-like symptoms immune system problems hypersensitivity opening of the blood-brain barrier and blood cell grouping did you know that the FCC guidelines only average the exposure over a short period of time from any only one device and that's only 30 minutes they're not looking at long-term exposure over the course of a day a week a month a year many years sitting under those things they also ignore the cumulative readings from multiple devices that are open at once so think about your child's classroom there are multiple Chromebooks on at once the Wi-Fi routers or cell phones there's Bluetooth there's Wireless air pods there's wireless printers there's cell tower antenna outside of the environment so this is all cumulatively impacting their bodies and no one is checking um so if you look at the legal limits from the FCC did you know that their guidelines are 100 times over that of China and Russia it's kind of like setting a speed limit of 100 miles per hour in a school zone okay it's not safe and they're not protecting our children's health or the faculty in the building either um so who is responsible for putting that those Wi-Fi routers this close to children did they not do their homework I know I've sent a plethora of information in the past I would have hoped that we shared with the boat or bed uh so I will hand you some more information tonight I brought a whole bunch of letters in here actually my printer ran out of ink so there's several that are missing but I will email you can just give them to Claudia and she'll make sure we get them um and so there's a bunch of letters in there to read about Wi-Fi and it's harms on kids um I'm closing it out in three or three minutes um so who was measuring the radiation from the antenna in the classroom s uh what are your mitigation strategies do Educators actively instruct kids to protect devices in airplane mode and use best practices like powering down routers streaming only when necessary turning off excessive antennas keeping distance in routers from the routers when using the wireless devices and then an email came from our Canton officials looking for suggestions from residents on Capital expenditures and I thought wouldn't it be awesome if we not only teach best practices to minimize exposure but had our classrooms hardwired with many ports for ethernet connections using fiber optic cable with the money fiber optic is safer faster more reliable and more secure so I'm presenting this idea to you tonight hardwire our classrooms and lower the cumulative radiation you're penetrating into our kids I'm putting into public record this idea of creating high performance hardwired schools using ethernet connections as well as mitigating techniques to reduce RF variation in our classrooms I'm also including a legal memorandum so you are informed of potential legal consequences of exposing children who are getting radiation from the wireless devices within our school routes right so I have a bunch of stuff thank you Margaret very interesting thank you for those comments anyone else for the public forum yes I'm just really happy to be here tonight in person um because I couldn't make it last time I'm hoping that tonight there's different proposal for the bus dash cameras and um that it gets approved I just want to thank everybody here in the Canton Police Department and the um the hotel bus company for making the bus stash cameras a priority um I don't know if any of you have seen the videos on the Facebook but um there's been some really horrible stories um terrifying stories I've seen some things myself it's very emotionally jarring and I just you know it would be great if people followed the law and obeyed the bus safety but they don't and I know that every parent who uses the best service will be happy to know that the offenders will pay the price um for their recklessness once we get the dash cameras just the other thing I wanted to mention was um the half days of school you know I don't mind happening as a school personally but um there's just a little bit of a communication disconnect about lunches um I I guess they have they're offered now on half days I didn't know that um I don't know what the procedure is going forward um for the lunches I think I think they're just like a management issue about it so I just wanted to bring it to your attention um I think it's a new thing that we didn't have before I like that it's offered but I just think there's a little bit of a communication disconnect there about it in a particular school oh at the high school okay yeah okay you're right it's the first time lunch is being offered and we're working that into the schedule so it sounds tricky middle school as well I understand it's a new state law that we need to all schools now need to offer lunches on early release days and that's something that came out in late summer after our schedules were developed so okay so we're working on that but yeah I know It's tricky because then it like really reduces the productivity and you have to like figure out how to get lunches crammed in there as well thank you we're continuing to refine that thank you and thank you for your last public comment so I'm just going to make a statement on on the buses just generally nothing unleashes uh discussion but um and we are working on that and we always maintain that uh student health and safety is our priority but enforcement is not the Board of Education enforcement is the police department I know the chief is doing everything he can and Martel is participating in that but I just want to make sure that folks know we are as outraged as Citizens but it's not really a board issue as far as enforcement goes we're happy to get these cameras on to support and help the only reason why the cameras more voted on last time is because Dean Martell wasn't sure if the cameras were going to work well enough for us to move it forward apparently the superintendent will have more on that later but um you know safety is certainly a number one priority for us but it is it is a town uh issue with respect to enforcement on that okay thank you again Lisa okay anybody else for public forum tonight in Rome okay then we'll go online if you're joining us online tonight you can go ahead and use the raise hand feature zoom and I'll call on you by your Zoom name I don't have any friends thank you Kara hearing none will close up public forum thank you very much everybody for your comments and thank you for attending tonight it's always nice to see uh smiling faces we appreciate the comments okay uh information reports can we go right to Donna or you want to uh no we can go right to uh business manager I'll just say just very quickly um it's at this time of the year that we ask you to approve the financials for our summer months July and August and um Donna will talk about this but um there are areas in the salary line items that we are still examining closely it really takes us three months into the school year to ensure that whatever grant funding we have that that's applied to the salaries of the people who are Grant funded so some of the figures you'll see in the salary line items will change when we meet again on October 11th so I just wanted to preface down this report by saying that right thank you absolutely um yes that is totally true um in fact our grant report is not in here because we're still working on it uh that is very we have the Auditors in for the last three weeks or the last two weeks but I'm still working with the Otters very intensely this week and grants are a big piece of that so the whole Grant financial statement isn't even in here yet um because of that we don't even know how that you know we're still auditing last year's so it's all a process so which was part of so and the other thing is is uh you know it's only the first couple payrolls uh that we've had in September going to be here so we can't even see how it's all fleshing out and we try to go through everybody individually but that's pretty difficult until you see how it flushes out in the financial statements in September so uh so that is absolutely true uh so um the audit by the way is going in very well uh hoping to uh so uh okay so if you see the financial statements and the financial highlights um you can see the first item of uh 9 4 100 uh and that's because the PPS director we were uh paying the PPS director as well as the interim director so that's probably a real variance uh that may continue um I I want to also qualify that it's so early in the year any variance that I speak of right now as things go through the year you know we might be able to cover these in other areas so I wouldn't Panic about anything that we're seeing this early in the year it's quite possible that it's all going to be covered um the next item is the PPS speech language and that was an additional ft based on IEP requirements uh and then one of the items that Kevin spoke of well that one looks bad right now but it won't be so bad uh in the future uh is this the special ed para educator um so just stay tuned for that item so don if I could just add to that so these are we always like to break out the special education expenses Barbara I'm so glad you're here tonight we always like to break out the special ad expenses as you know because they change on a daily basis uh the overage in the PPS director is because of um contractual uh payout time along with the hiring of the interim director as Donna said we needed to hire a 0.1 FTE additional speech language pathologist that's a half a day additional than we budgeted for and then with new students entering over the summer who had individualized education plans that required one-to-one para Educators we needed to hire additional pairs then that we budget that we did not budget for we also have students in our choice program who are new to us this year who came with IEPs and just a reminder to the board whatever Services students need we can build the city of Hartford for those Services if we did not budget for them so part of this number will be billed to Hartford too but we don't have that exact number for you right now right okay um so as far as other non-special expenses uh we have CHS classroom teachers uh and this is also an item in review there is going to be some wage differential for some of the uh teachers that we've had to hire for instance physics teachers and the higher level teachers they're they're difficult to find so there is going to be a wage differential piece here um but we will be looking at these numbers like I said some of them may be able to go to a grant as they get further into the process uh so again don't panic stay tuned um the maintenance uh item of thirty thousand dollars and change uh that was because you notice we did do the extensive grounds up key um that we really honestly needed and hadn't done in quite a while so it wasn't budgeted for um will be in the future um but uh again likely you know uh we'll be able to cover this president of the year but just wanted to highlight that right now may I interrupt on that one absolutely so I noticed that um we saved some money on a couple of the uh and we may even save more money in HVAC of some of the projects that you listed in your email uh you were talking about cfp CIP uh yeah this wouldn't be a really easy idea it wouldn't cover on the seat because it's too small no because it's a it's kind of a maintenance kind of a thing it's not like a equipment building Improvement so that those funds can't be real right right but February because it's September oh no no no I know I know we'll catch up yeah so [Music] um yeah and there's other things in that maintenance item I mean not a lot of things in this particular item um that we won't like I know we won't need to do so you know we're going to be reevaluing that uh every year and uh you know we have different maintenance contracts that we're looking at that we may be able to save on I was looking at some elevator contracts and it's like well why do we have two and you know that kind of thing so stay tuned we're working on it um okay uh the insurance item of 39 uh 100 uh that was a budgeting budgeting versus contract so it's a real variance but you know again with all of these we'll see how it goes for the rest of the year but so that's some for for uh Martel transportation we should have budgeted fifty thousand dollars for that right but forty five thousand was budgeted right not 50.

so that was a budgeting error yeah yeah yeah and I'm not even sure if the Martell was even finalized by then but uh but either way it is what it is uh and then the technology supplies of six thousand that's you know very possible to be moving to a grant so kind of stands out in the financial statements um but uh you know as a negative variance and that's what I'm identifying here is just the negatives you know there's many positives as well uh and then the other item that I have is a note down here is you if you look at the financial statements you're going to be seeing is huge uh negative in the health and dental insurance and that's an encumbrance that uh is basically an error to be corrected Next Period I just can't do it on these financial statements because it's through the payroll system so we'll see that disappearing and clearing up uh so um I think that is all in the financial statements unless the board has any questions Russell we're good yeah that's what I want to check with you okay okay thank you okay and uh so as another part to when I submitted for the Capital Improvements like three pages from the bottom of the financial packet three tablespoon that I think yeah uh there's a an exhibit for the capital Improvement project the budget reallocation and uh as you know we were doing some renovations in the tech ed area of the high school um and part of that was well it was all approved through the capital Improvement plan 55 000 of that was for the heating unit uh as an individual item and uh so uh that bid uh we kind of anticipated it was going to come in a little bit higher because of the economy right now uh so in anticipation of that it's probably coming in a little bit higher uh some other CIP items that we had gotten approved in the food service area uh was uh a new point of service system and some refrigeration and freezer freezer items at various schools uh those items because we anticipated we were going to need some Savings in the ticket area uh we um we ended up paying those out of the food services and that's kind of a good thing because food services at this point in time which rarely ever happens over the years uh but the reimbursement rates were very very good over the last year or two so we've accumulated a balance we're only allowed to keep such a balance at a certain balance so it's kind of good that we're drawing down those funds so uh it kind of worked in good in two ways so those things we've we're still able to obtain uh but yet my request tonight is to reallocate the balance of those Food Service items to the uh tech ed heating unit mainly the Mini Splits uh so that we can we're getting both done basically um and it's about it's about 21 584 short um of the original 55 000 is the bid that we got and Russell I know you had some questions earlier in the finance committee meeting although I don't have the exact number of heads we know that it's six or greater I did send you the bid specs on that we did go out to bid on that um we had a state bid that actually came in higher than the bid that we had and the bid that we have and would like to go with uh is our maintenance vendor that does all the maintenance in the district so it's kind of logical that they take that you know that they do that so let me ask it is this um is this at the end are we moving this after dinner or you know my request would be that you vote on this under recommended actions okay just add this to the agenda if you're willing to anything else anything else Donna uh no I think that's good because that'll explain where the items are coming from thank you thank you Russell I'll just check with you on the finance committee meeting this morning anything you want to highlight no Donna pretty much covered everything that we talked about this morning because I agree any questions on the finances and I didn't know if you wanted to talk about the athletic piece we I am going to um if you can do that in uh three minutes or less okay well the only reason why is we want we're going to go into another executive session okay gotcha yeah no this is fine this is um we had gotten some questions at the last board meeting about the cost per athlete for football or I shouldn't say that about additional funding requested for football so we had decided to put together a cost per athlete for each sport kind of determine where we stood between football and the other items so there's two pages of uh uh various ways to look at it for cost per athlete you can see that um so what we're going to do with that thank you very much I think that's all good information there's not much we can act on now because budgets are in place but what we wanted to see was you know where where it stood when they came and they made their presentation clearly there's some inequity there here so I'm going to leave that to the superintendent during the budget process to come back to us to make any adjustments on that yeah that's good that's good that's good these are the adjustments that can be done well the budget's in they seem to be fine they seem to be getting along I would hate to there's a lot of adjustments going on in our budget right now between uh searches and things like that so I I would prefer not to make any adjustment this year but I certainly would like to have an impact for them for next year absolutely what Donna did was great because it really it is good yeah I think the idea helped you with that too right or no I took it from our budget excellent this is all good information and we should uh keep that hang on to it because we're going to discuss it further I'm sure during the budget time all right one minute good good job so um let me explain before we go into the next report we are going to break for another executive session uh that has to do with the superintendent search so the board is the board is going to clear the room it should take no more than maybe 10 minutes um on that so if you wouldn't mind we're going to suspend for now for 10 minutes we'll suspend the uh video we'll come back after the video in about 10 minutes or so and I hate to clear the room like that but uh we're going to ask you to I mean so um so hey Ryan I'm sorry it was just on the survey it was it wasn't a you know the world I get it I get it so I'm just I'm just a little hurt but that's okay I'll get over it so what what we're doing is we just made a motion to remove the minutes from the 9 13 2022 Boe meeting from the consent agenda and I have a first and a second I have a first from Peggy and second from Kim okay any any discussion on that no all those in favor then I rob you with us okay right okay good so that's unanimous now we're going to rescind we're gonna go back into those minutes and we're going to rescind the motion that gave me the authority to do the survey with je Consulting allowing me to spend up to a thousand dollars so we're going to rescind that motion because we were all in the affirmative because when you rescind the motion it has to be from folks in the affirmative we had a 9-0 vote on that so can I have a motion to rescind the motion I just described thank you Erica and thank you Joe first and second okay so that's going to come out and then all those in favor aye okay so uh what that means is now that's so those minutes are going to be corrected they'll be they'll be in the packet next time to reflect this okay and now for these minutes I'm going to ask you to make a motion to accept the contract by cave Consulting for the purposes of doing a a community-wide survey and allowing the board allowing the board chair to spend up to twenty five hundred dollars on the survey up to 25 not to exceed twenty five hundred dollars does that make sense okay is that okay Claudia you got that yeah okay so first in the second Joe on the first Ryan on the second thanks Ryan okay I want to get you into minutes but okay all those in favor I opposed okay so we're off the ground okay that's great we got that all set okay so that takes us now into uh Mr Bishop on a direct uh director of learning and Innovation report presentation the revised District website I'm excited about that I'm excited about it as well this is a project that we've been talking about for some time and it's great to be able to see that it's coming here uh completion um and here is going to pull it up right here in just a second so this this is the look and all its Glory right here you've got a one pager for you as well to be able to take a look at but uh but we were yeah everybody get one yeah what we're excited about is uh being able to take good information that we had on our website from the past and being able to bring it into a little bit more of a contemporary View for the for the future representing who we are and and also who we espouse to be so if if uh Kerry if you just mine uh wouldn't mind just kind of hovering over each of the different tabs across the top those those uh reflect the information that we have within each of the Departments within our school district we've got one for the district and Board of Education we've got one for Cherry Brook uh Primary School the Intermediate School the middle school and then the high school so quick access to everything right up right up at the top in the ribbon and then care if you wouldn't mind scrolling down a little bit for us here that that uh front matter ribbon will be able to change seasonally based on um what uh you know photos that we have that are coming in these next two sections were were areas that I know that the Board of Ed was um was interested in that the district was interested in being able to improve upon as well District updates will be uh primary primarily information that would be front matter information about uh important postings of uh lunch information or maybe the bus reach changes the information that we want to get quickly to the eyes of of folks on the front page in addition to the links that we have in the page that'll be highlighted there the Board of Education updates and we've got a couple samples that are there right now uh those will be uh posted right in the front there uh front matter for folks so it'll be easy to see information dates um and updates from the Board of Education and then if you scroll down to the bottom quick access with four panels to be able to hit important documents and information throughout the district um we're just really we're really excited about this uh we we hoped to be able to move this along a little bit faster our our partners at qsn have been um supportive in the past month or so with us to be able to provide some additional training for us to be able to refine uh where we're at and they're working on right now some file structures to make sure that everything ported over for us in the way that we really needed to so there's some little background work that's going on right now but they've been very responsive to us um one point that uh I know that we had talked about in in the past too is yeah the translation button would you mind just hitting that for me please and then go ahead and pick a language for us here foreign so Access wise for our website um you know no matter where you are uh or what your need is you've got the opportunity to be able to come in and have access to my um fried rice right off that menu yeah a lot of options um well it came into Chinese [Music] a lot of options that are available for us to be able to engage in the information so um we're we're really excited about this uh it's by no means a a finished product because there's plenty of work that we're going to have to keep doing but it it provides a lot of really great opportunity for us to keep thinking about how to communicate with and engage our community so we're very excited about it I appreciate the time that um uh Claudia my Administrative Assistant Lynn young Jeff delmastro um [Music] um Robin nardini um Sherry dadamo and um Joseph and Doran spent with us in training this past week and then we'll have some additional training coming up on October 7th for the rest of our Administrative Assistant staff to feel very comfortable in the interface of the the Essential Elements of this but then excited to be able to have this go live I think that this gives a crisp contemporary view of who the Canton Public Schools are and what our community looks like so Joe scheidler should policies should we have a tab for it if somebody wanted to reference our board policies should that be honest you got it it is hard to find so how did you download all those policies you just that company did it or we've been working really hard over the summer Lou with a lot of clicking up the checklist no um all of our all of our policies are on um are updated on our cave website for things and so what we were able to do is just link everything back over with that and then all the content that we had primarily all the content that we had from our previous website because this is the same partner they were just able to put a new skin over a lot of stuff okay so everything that had been there is just refreshed correct okay that's great so I've always look back into the 20th century there um it looks great John on the bottom where you have uh Cherry Brook can intermediate Canton middle Canton High School did you deliberately leave out central office uh part of part of the thought for that was just actually if you yeah scroll all the way all the way down oh District yeah yeah District gets to central office as well okay where is that right right but in terms of the number of times I can't remember the District phone number and I go to the website and I can't find the darn thing I can find it but it it's not those numbers and the person in charge the principles are readily available is there room to put central office or whatever you want to call it District yeah I'll double check on that but that's a good point I'd be happy to look into that one it's got to be first before Cherry record it's the district office the superintendent's office yep well don't say that I know it has central office in the Square but it doesn't have it like Joe is saying down down at the bottom as a quick access to that so that's a good point and and the point that I think that you're bringing up with that is how do we give people the quickest access to the most important information for us so um phone number you know yeah okay the other the other question I have um because I've looked up I've gone online and typed in Canton Public Schools and there's a lot of cantons in the United States yep so it doesn't say like if it says Canton school should it underneath it say like Canton Connecticut or Connecticut or something like that because I've gone to yeah there's Canton I think Michigan I don't know what one in every state I registered my my grandkids in Little League in Canton Massachusetts because I didn't distinguished the two yeah I get it so so welcome in Canton schools Canton Connecticut we do get a lot of calls like that yeah that's that's another good point of feedback happy to be able and and these are all these are all I I think we're going to continue to have these opportunities as we look at this and engage with it to say what can we do different what could we do better with this that's exactly what the process is all about so um I'm happy to be able to take both of those considerations back and see what we might be able to do about that and then as you as you interface with this there are going to be things that we think maybe there's an opportunity to add something more to be able to be increasingly clear that's where we're looking to be able to keep building out the architecture of this but something really good that we'll be able to launch that we see by the end of October okay I mentioned Claudia the other day I mean speaking of this but our phone system's still screwed up as far as who's on there Sue McDonald's I just had a meeting with Donna and Jeff are working hard on it okay you think it would be an easy fix for some reason it isn't but more aware of it Lou and we're working hard on it every day right Jeff is trying to figure out how to get rid of and it's all integrated because we're trying to make it kind of bigger than that you know our rules-based item of where she's hired into a certain role well they get this program and this program and this laptop that this Chromebook or you know it's kind of we're trying to integrate both of them um with that but yeah that's a big part of it Kira thanks for sharing that appreciate it okay I think this looks really nice though yeah yeah I'm I'm really pleased I'm really pleased with how how it came out visually yeah um and excited to be able to see it just keep growing with with content each of the individual School pages over time too you'll see that the banner changes for each school to more closely represent what's what's happening in those areas too so and and calendar work that was another big point of uh conversation that we had to make sure that uh updated calendar information was going to be on there so we'll be integrating our Google Calendar our district Google Calendar to easily be accessible through this and then folks will be able to even sync that calendar with with their own calendars as well so do the PT ptos have a spot here I have to go back and look to to see would it make sense for them to have a spot but if I wanted to check for a PTO meeting or something would I want to it might look for maybe the web page it might already be on that I'd have to go back and take a look but I'll do that and let y'all know all right they could let the administrative assistants know and have it put on hey great job thank you very much for the support to be able to make this happen too this is very exciting okay looks nice yeah it looks good really good okay so that that covers that so that takes us into recommended actions and I think so on the consent agenda we're pulling out September 13th you're not voting on that approval you're only voting on uh September 6th and then Mr Case the anonymous athletic donation [Music] thank you Lou so we had a parent um in appreciation of our Canton High School basketball program um his parents last child uh graduated can high school and it's a all of his children were very active in the High School boys basketball program um that um there were boys playing in the basketball program however um what he's donating is one thousand dollars to the basketball program so it could benefit girls and boys basketball uh he wanted to remain anonymous so we're very grateful uh for uh this person's donation I happen to know who the person is so I will send a thank you note on your behalf and on behalf of the school district so that goes to the ad and the ad is going to decide how to you know based on working with the code sure so we're very grateful for this generous donation so I I ask that you accept this board policy is that any donation 500 or greater needs to come to you for approval thank you and then there's one item that we just received that I'd like you to consider for the consent agenda this is a letter of resignation from Jordan last drop so Jordan is a preschool teacher at Cherry Brook Primary School one of our two Preschool teachers um she is uh um it's bittersweet she's resigning due to personal reasons um very um happily she um and her husband had um a baby a few months ago Jordan was on leave and she's decided to stay home with her her newborn so hard decision for her it's really hard for us because she's she's been with us for six years she's an outstanding teacher and hopefully she'll return at some point but she does need to resign at this point how do you feel that spot Kevin so we will um post for it and we like we don't have an intro here now you thought she was coming back right so she is back uh she didn't come back she's resigning November 3rd oh okay so we have time to search for a replacement I'm grateful that she gave us 30 days notice okay can I have a motion to accept the consent agenda that include September 6th minutes the approval of the thousand dollar um donation and the um the resignation of our Preschool teachers thank you Joe thank you Erica first and second thank you Ryan for right here yeah um okay so uh any any other conversation on the consent consent agenda you know hearing none all those in favor aye opposed okay now we can move through this uh approval transfer of funds I mean are we talking it no we're not doing that okay that's later on okay that's a separate item right okay um you approval the eighth grade uh middle school trip you had a presentation uh two meetings ago and you had a first well that would have been the first reading on it any any questions on the uh eighth grade middle school trip for the superintendent to Washington no okay uh can I have a motion thank you Russell thank you Kim first and second okay any any further questions all those in favor aye okay post that's unanimous thank you for your support okay um Kevin came back gave us uh his superintendent goals he went over at the last uh presentation Kevin anything you want to highlight on those further nothing um nothing the high about in the morning if you had any questions since the last meeting about them nope okay okay so um I have a motion to approve the superintendent's goals for 2022 2023 Ryan Ryan's one Russell two any questions all those in favor aye okay great okay um I would just say on the superintendent goals if um when we take uh the meeting in January is a checkup on those calls how's that sound okay right okay uh approval of the administrative assistant the accounting clerk we had a pretty good presentation by uh Donna and Kevin uh the last meeting for why we need this uh this this role um you had a chance to look at the job description any any questions of the superintendent or Donna on the um on the position okay so you can have a motion okay Peggy and Russell thank you first and second any any further questions all those in favor aye opposed unanimous again thank you very much okay now we get the approval of the financials for the month and in July August 2022.

any comment on that okay that kind of speaks to Donna's when are we inserting the um that's a separate motion afterwards okay no no that was good [Laughter] all those in favor aye thank you okay so that's unanimous now do you want to insert that that motion I would I would ask that the board had um and you look at the front page so add recommended action h which would be what the title maybe oh so that's going to be it so do it at the end okay okay that's right so that's done F approval of the installation of bus cameras why don't you just give us that cost again it's 9km so that's what I was really thinking about everybody um talking about this so um so at the last meeting we had discussion about the dash cam camera um that is working well so um without blessing Kim um in order to um to get us to move forward my recommendation is as we talked about last time that we purchased nine additional cameras at a cost not to exceed six thousand dollars so they are about six hundred dollars each but in case we needed to add some additional wiring for whatever reason I'm hoping you would make a motion that we could expend that no more than six thousand dollars to purchase nine additional cameras I'm recommending that we take the funding from the K to 12 Transportation line item which um as we look at that right now has an unencumbered balance so we believe we do have the six thousand dollars from that line item for these cameras so we have heard back from Dean Martin effective and yes he's behind us absolutely and have your other concerns of parents with buses being passed and that kind of thing that Mrs Coggins right not from any additional parents what parents parents were very grateful based upon the board discussion on the 13th they were very pleased with how we plan to address it I was just saying what is the lead time we say go and then when I heard Luke caught some Flack today on the interweb I always said I know I don't know anything about that well I don't know what the lead time is it we can find out I don't know do you know Donna I don't know off the top of my head uh for that quantity so guys and this wasn't for every bus correct this was just the ones 10 of the 13.

oh this is the routes that right no it actually had to do with the um the electronics and three of the buses aren't up to date to be able to handle the electronics that's the only reason why but we're gonna we're going to make sure that the buses on the routes that that need the camera okay right and Dean also added dash cams to the three guys that wasn't included at his cost so yeah and more than that to the Vans um because there were concerns about the speed that Vans were going so um we're tracking that data as well I mean each of our vans okay so um I need a motion uh allowing us to spend up to six thousand dollars for nine uh bus cameras which will be taking out the K to 12 transport line item we have a motion Joe second Russell discussion I have discussion why can't I be on a CIP why does that have to come out of operating well it hasn't been approved and we're looking for a more timely thing you know if if it comes down to it and for instance our security cameras cost less than our CIP allocation we can move that money over at a later date that's what I was thinking I mean it's all part of security so but right now we're gonna like just put it in there in case we need it for the security cameras that so so I want to I want to amend the motion not to say to funding to come from the K to 12 transfer Transportation line I I want to leave it open-ended in case we want to go into CIP so I just want to I want the motion to say to allow an expenditure of six thousand dollars from nine cameras for the buses and that's it because if I if I make a motion okay you have to take it from that line item right I'll have to come back to you for CIP anyway to reallocate for yeah the trend the difference between the with Crystal cameras yeah on the bus this is a significant and it's under um it's under um it's under security I mean in terms of those other cameras okay all right so so the motion is amended to uh always grow the motion thank you forever seconded if you would throw your second that was uh Erica withdrawn all right so now can I have a motion that would the Board of Education will expand not more than six thousand dollars to purchase nine cameras for the Martell buses Erica now Russell thank you I wanted John to kiss your financing okay first and second any further discussion none call us in favor aye Ryan good okay that takes care of that so you uh you had the first reading tonight nice presentation by Nora uh first reading of the model un overnight field trip proposal as presented um you're just approving this as a first reading you're not necessarily approving the entire trip you can have more questions down the road can I have a first and second on that thanks Kim thanks Peggy first and second any further discussion on that trip hearing none all those in favor aye okay that's unanimous and then the final um the uh final it would be H is the Canton Canton Board of Education reallocate 14 000 for project number zero four eight dot zero zero dot nine nine zero Dash five nine four six one Food Services FSS replacement the project number048.00.996.

2022-09-30 DuPage County, IL YouTube / wcchsd94tv transcript source: youtube D94 Departments In Focus - Building Thinking Math Classrooms · passage 1
my name is Caitlin Beamish and I teach math here at West Chicago Community High School this is my second year teaching over the summer we read a book called building thinking classrooms which focuses on changing the way that we do math in the high school setting making it very much more interactive and student focused so this year as we started reshaping our curriculum we really focus on ways to connect students prior knowledge to what we're doing and the new topics that we learn and we really have seen a difference in the way that students interact with the material are really motivated and learning and extending upon what they know and just re-engaging students in the math that we do so this is my eighth year here at West Chicago Community High School and in my role it's always been my goal to kind of create more engaging experiences for the students in mathematics and as we ran into the pandemic that year where everyone was teaching at home that was really nearly impossible and then when we came back I really saw that need even more students were kind of disengaged and reluctant to kind of work with each other and talk with one another so this building thing drinking classrooms was a nice framework to utilize to try to kind of promote that to happen when I read building thinking classrooms I think it was just really eye-opening of just seeing a really Hands-On way to get students more involved in the classroom it gave just a really specific structure for a way to get every student involved putting them up at the whiteboards is kind of their structure to do it so having students take the Whiteboard markers have them up at the whiteboards talking with each other doing them problems on the board at first it sounded like something so small I didn't really believe that it would make such a big difference but then just kind of the more that I kept trying it the more that the kids loved doing it they were so engaged they loved having the non-permanent space up there to make mistakes to be able to erase to fix it they started talking with each other started figuring out each other's mistakes I didn't even have to help them with it all of those things just really helped the students to take ownership of their own learning really when I kind of think about our kind of philosophy or goal of living learning and leading here at West Chicago I think the building thinking classrooms really helps with that learning and that leading part our goal as Educators regardless of the content that we have is always to create thinkers and Learners to be a good learner it's not sitting in a classroom listening to what a teacher says and then just regurgitating what they've said onto a piece of paper we're trying to get them to think mathematically to think critically and really in all subjects that's what we want them to do and in terms of that leadership piece to be a true leader I think you have the ability to work with a variety of different people to come and try to solve problems together and complete tasks together because when we get out into the professional world people are going to be working with others and having to collaborate with one another part of the building thinking classrooms model is randomized groups the whole point of randomizing it is that students get comfortable learning with whoever they're with so they kind of I think are pointed back to the point of math which is just learning how to problem solve and learning to do that with whomever and I think when you randomize the groups the students end up having to learn to explain things multiple ways because they're not just used to one person's learning style they have to really be able to explain it in many different ways which I think deepens their understanding students have really liked doing the Whiteboard work and we usually do it about two to three times per week my name is Phoebe Silber Kimber and at this year I'm learning geometry I really enjoyed that I'm learning geometry with my teachers and those students I really enjoyed that that part that I'm standing up and doing in the boards with the students is really good instead of death you're going to divorce and writing questioning and answering the questions so I really like talking with the students about geometry and I they raise my hand and answer the questions I really like it because uh it's more open your mind when you know the geometry like math

awesome good evening ladies and gentlemen and welcome to lcat I'm Chad O'Brien alongside Jake Rob and tonight we are you're joining us in a game of a classic rival rivalry you saw Meadow vs LA Meadow what do you think Jake Rob who do you got this game it's a big game I mean I think in East Longmeadow they're coming off a tough loss but they got a win against West Springfield this week which was huge for them so yeah you saw Meadow awesome Star players this year uh Mike Monroe with uh five or four goals three assists and Joe presnell also sticking out five goals two assists our uh back line is starting to to show themselves and uh We've also have some great players on the defensive side as well um overall I think we're a solid team this year uh we could make a run oh my God I mean yeah those big shoes to fill with last year's team obviously going to the states yeah so uh last year I believe 11 seniors left so I mean pretty much the entire starting lineup um but you saw Meadow is still pulled together a good team um AJ AJ Morgado got a few starts last year against some teams and uh now he's our starting goaltender this year behind or in front of uh Tyler Dudley um and then obviously our front line started at striker uh we got Joe presnell he's been showing out um our midis we got all very I believe Richard's and Monroe also I believe playing MIDI um these guys are good though I I think they got a good team this year so la Meadow kicking off and they will go for an aggressive play sending it right down field that's defended by diascoli and once again goes back to the Escola he sends it long and it's headed by Longmeadow Fresno with the ball now and Hill send it up field looking for Monroe and that is defended and all a very takes out number five Thomas McMahon and now I believe number nine The Long Meadow eight number eight for La Meadow Brayden Costas will booted that field ends up with Monroe Monroe looking for the ball and it deflects off of him and now presnell with the aggressive play style Esau Meadow using their body tonight so far as we kick off this game I mean the aggressive play style I'm it's it's obviously risky you could acquire some penalties but La Modelo now with the throwing they'll look deep back to Midfield and it's defended well and then it goes out of bounds looking for an East metal throwing now I believe it is Jack marrigan on the right side he looks for Monroe Monroe sends it left side looking for all very goaltender coming out and he Scoops it right up [Music] ball booted deep Riley defending Christopher Karan Quran with the ball on the outside he'll send it to the middle and it is off the outside post so Morgado will have a goal kick which they'll actually give to the escoli that's a good plan defense they really cut off his angle then that it was a bad bad angle yeah all about angles in this game for shots pretty much anything from the outside isn't going to go on so they're always happy with those all a very defending and Biggins punches it up marigon on the back right he sends it up to Richards Richard sending it to Mike uh Monroe Monroe looking for president on the up the middle but it does not get through all defended on the outside now I believe Richard ah can't get the number and well defended by Esau Meadow yeah that was a great play by discoli cut off his angle and forced him to pass into a bad shot oh dear Skully wool take the goal kick gets out to Richard and now Biggins takes it Biggins looks the outside to Richards and misses and it'll go out of bounds and long metal will have a throw in Carson mostio will take it they'll send it deep to the left wing for Long Meadow and Biggins will just Boot It Out of Bounds and they'll have a tough time finding that ball later throwing sent to the middle and Dia Scully gets his head on it and another shot way outside and it'll go right out of bounds for another goal kick once again with a bad angle shot you saw Meadows succeeding and cutting off the angles tonight as Jake Rob said the school is sending it deep headed back and marrigan will look to defend he bodies his man out of the way and he sends it way up field looking for Monroe and it'll go all the way back to Richardson presnell is fighting for it now he sends it left Olive area and all very looking to send it to the middle maybe to Monroe and Fresno once again using his body tonight that'll result in a free kick for La Meadow he's getting very aggressive tonight they're playing a little bit undisciplined they might wanna turn that down a little bit yeah obviously emotions running high this is biggest rivalry around president with the ball he'll head it up to Monroe Monroe looking outside to presnell with the two-man game ball is headed directly back to Fresno and now number 11 for La Meadow Quran sends it up field and a weak shot on net AJ Morgado will be able to boot it out up to presnell now McMahon set working the ball around foreign touches it to Richard and now Richard's on the outside he's looking to move the ball up field and it is Richard with the ball now he's controlling sends it to the outside all vary with it and he's moving with the ball Riley steps up gets back to Oliveri now all very once again Lefty kick to the inside ends up with stone and he can't get to it and that ball will work all the way back up to the outside Richard trying to make the play on it I believe a foul is called and a free kick will take place for number eight braiding Costas Costas looking at his options he will Boot It Up field left side and now Richard with the ball and it's taken he's looking to defend so far just pretty back and forth I mean I think La Meadows had a few more shots on net but overall they've just been poor angles and yeah there's great defense being played by both teams they haven't really let either team close to the net yeah so far pretty much out of stalemate zero zero game still 32-30 remaining in the first half in dear Skully once again takes the goal kick the escoli Boone in up field Richard is there Now American looking to defend metal controlling it gets to the striker he pulls back and he looks to make a spin move but once again do you score it with a great defensive play now on the outside and Morgado scooped up that shot from Deep Morgado with a punt sends it up to Richards Richard tries to touch it to Monroe gets it back now he's moving he looks to the outside towards Oliveri but can't get it to him now stone with the ball stone with an outside shot and it goes just right that was a good shot on that just sauce a little bit they need to get more of those tonight yeah just a little bit more inside and it's a goal goal kick for La Meadow [Music] a great touch American is able to step up he sends it to Monroe and they can't hold on now it's Riley who kicks the ball up a little back and forth play here Monroe trying to touch up to Stone but can't now it's Richard with the ball he works his way around this guy sends it to Riley Riley to presnell president looking to make a move present with an outside shot and it takes a weird Skip and almost gets past the goalie another really close shot this islamino just has to keep getting those on that doing a better job in these last few minutes unfortunately for Long Meadow their goaltender was able to scoop that right up Julie Quinn Henry [Music] Oliveira with the ball on the outside [Music] it's well defended now Stone looking for another shot on that and he falls down he looks like he's in some pain now La medo advancing the other way Biggins with the ball and Stone's still down he's looking to get on sides and all very sends it towards the middle Monroe trying to control but can't now it's American stepping up with a shot from the outside and Henry Scoops it up Henry will punt it with an absolute boot big in stepping up he sends it right up to Richard you go Richard pushes it to the outside of Riley Riley to presnell and is taken away now La Meadow moving up field it's McMahon on the outside across the middle and it's controlled by Biggins was able to send it up to presnell presnell now looking for Monroe Monroe with a lead pass looking for Biggins but can't get to him now it's McMahon on the bat on the outside he's looking to advance for Longmeadow and Riley's steps up and knocks it out of bounds allowing Nissan Meadow to reset a lot of metal controlling now in a fight for the ball and it is Richardson who's able to win it for Longmeadow and now crossed up to the middle but it's defended by East all Meadow and now a touch move and a shot from the outside by number 11.

Quran but it's easily scooped up by AJ Morgado regatta's ball just come right back to him off of this punt that was a great defensive sequence to play before by uh the scoli and American they really stopped there whatever long that I was trying to do there yeah absolutely just going out with the ball he looks for Richard controlling patience he tries to send it off the field does not succeed someone going for a slide tackle now Obama field and Dia Scully looking to defend and he's able to bite his man off ball and Riley finishes up gives it to presnell presnell to Olive area Oliveira touches it up to Fresno and it's Richardson with the ball now he's able to successfully turn his Defender away Richard able to repossess the ball for you saw Meadow he sends it to Marion on the outside Marion can't control that ball but he gets to Biggins Biggins to Riley Riley Richard and now back to La Meadow Ball moving up field and marrigan just almost sends it out of bounds Richards is able to get there and I believe a free kick for you saw Meadow yep American will set up to take that looking up the field towards Richard it's headed away now McMahon back to Richardson Richardson controlling he's moving on the field sends it all the way up to morgato we'll scoop it up nice and easy he rips it out to Midfield now Richards will send that ball out of bounds and a substitution is being made of number 24 17 13 and 5.

free some Meadow I gotta get those names Tyler wretchen Shane Smith Shane Smith 13 Tyler Richards 24. 17 and fives McCarthy and then five and drovery 25 minutes remaining in this first half here we still have a zero zero game if you're just joining us decent crowd here tonight for Esau Meadow La Meadow setting up for a throw in and as before I'm sure they'll look to get it to the middle they did and they looked ahead and on net but they go pretty wide the escoli as usual sets up for the goal kick now destroy foreign you can't get a head on it so now Longmeadow will be able to advance looks to cross it to the middle but well defended by Biggins and wretchen trying to get in on the action that ball goes on net and Morgado Scoops it up regalo sends it left side now long metal looking to control it a few headers Monroe on the ball and he's able to get it over to Hanley Hanley rips it to the outside looking for wretchen but can't get it to him now La Meadow trying to get there American defending tries to tap it out of bounds before the flag but can't so it'll result in a corner kick La Meadow substitution being made number six coming in that is Brendan moldrig and number 21 coming out and that would be Kyle O'Connor Corner sent to the middle and good save oh AJ's scoop set up what a save I saw the back of the net move and thought it maybe went in clearly somebody bumped the post what a great save by Morgado there yeah he really just that was all him he just stopped the goal now McCarthy trying to move up it's Monroe with the ball he'll tap it back looking for marrigan gets by him now Quran trying to advance it up and long metal will take control in the middle and two slide tackles that result in a free kick a little bit too aggressive there yeah East longmeadows came out on the aggressive side way more aggressive than Longmeadow this game yeah absolutely using all the physicality in the world right now slide tackles body Madoff Ball but could work out for them tonight with the intensity yeah we'll see at the end all metal setting up their play here looking to get some off-ball movement free kick in a fairly dangerous spot the fake and they will just look to rip it on then and it's just bodied out of the way number 22 for Esau Meadow he took a shot um it's shabelli and he looks like he's in some pain Richard's subbing in for him yep and they'll allow us up yep Richard coming in and Fresno also stationed up ready for a sub Elli is a talented young uh freshman he's really been working out well for the team so far he's a good fit it seems like in our uh play style seems pretty minor though just a sting I'm sure [Applause] he should be back I believe able to walk off on the field on his own which is a good sign now Richardson with the ball on the outside Nissan Meadow attacks now Monroe with the ball and he'll open up field oh and he bodies this man out of the way Monroe on the outside he touches it to the inside and now a shot on net but his block Richard with a shot now once again blocked Biggins now with the ball on the outside that shot by Russian was really close in the corner yeah it was just free fire free some metal there Unfortunately they couldn't get one on net close though [Music] now marrigan touching up this well looks like two of men to have been meant for Smith and now a ball is ripped off of I believe Richard's head Richardson touched back to him right away they'll rip up field and Deus goalie looking to tap it down to himself misses and it'll go right back up back to Morgado Regatta set it up field it's Smith fighting for it now gets it to Monroe Monroe looking to tap it up to the outside I believe towards retchen unsuccessfully and now long metal regained control Gretchen now fighting for the ball and he might have just no not quite I believe I thought that he uh yeah yeah apparently not the ref says otherwise so long metal goal kick that's Henry [Applause] [Music] so far he sold out with some good offensive opportunity unfortunately while metal Defenders have been able to block a lot of their shots which means that Henry hasn't really been tested morgato earlier with a great save on the corner kick a header that he was able to stuff no matter with a quick quick touch up field play it on the outside and it's defended by wretchen who will let that ball roll out of bounds and now number 10.

Quran looking to take this throwing Quran will send it up field and now across the middle which is well defended I Believe by McCarthy Maybe now Quran will get the ball again slow Meadows Steven's been real good tonight yeah absolutely moving as a unit and now a corner which gets across and almost on net just left outside barely misses and Morgado catches a break there as Dia Scully sets up for the goal kick the escoli looking Midfield it gets to Richards he misses the head and now Marion looking to defend with Biggins American able to head that out of bounds and now Quran will set up for the throne Quran will send that right out of bounds and that'll result in a Nissan metal goal kick Patsy dioscoli once again setting up thank you the Escola looking Midfield once again it gets almost American past him to McCarthy now while metal fighting for that ball back gets all the way up to the escoli who boots it high in the sky now Shane Smith with the ball Smith looking towards Richard richer with an opportunity to move up now he looks wretch in switching fields to The Far Side and long metal just tap that ball out in order to recover now marrigan will set up for the throwing what have you noticed so far Jake the defense is for both teams I mean they're playing outstanding there's not a lot of shots on net any and any shots there have been on that have been saves yeah so far pretty defensive game both offenses really need to get going yeah both sides are struggling to get anything on that now an opportunity for Easton Meadow once again quickly defended Hanley now all very all very setting up for the throne it looks straight towards Hanley Hanley heads it back to Oliveri oh and Joe Fresno putting his body again Jim has really paid off for that kid yeah Smith trying to gain control now it's all very all Veritas Smith makes a nice move and now he's moving up field outside the Hanley or no it's Fresno who beats him to it he Taps to Hanley Hanley now Crossing to Richard and they can't get a shot on net Richard just missing now it's Dia Scully looking to defend the other side he'll tap it back to Morgado a little bit of offense going now Biggins now he looks Direction back to Smith and now Shea McCarthy and Shane Smith working the ball Hanley is able to tab it back and it gets up to Fresno presnell now looking to make a play he looks a little bit tired out it gets all the way up to just go in now another defensive play Biggins who steps up there once again gets up to Fresno he's been getting a lot of action Shane Smith now he Taps the Hanley Hanley to McCarthy McCarthy controlling he'll look outside to wretchen and it is booted way out of bounds by Carson machio seems like every break of each of these teams have just defended perfectly every time even if they're down on numbers yeah all the odd men rushes so far have just been shut down impressively the Skully's been really good tonight yeah he's been stopping really good pretty much every single game I've seen him especially a sophomore I mean he's gonna have a bright future ahead of him for this team Smith trying to touch it up in Longmeadow just trying to get some action they've been just booting it up field looking for to catch a break and that will rip on net and it hits the outside right post and now another opportunity for a shot Biggins is able to send it out and now marrigan with the ball on the outside that show was so close I thought it went in Morgado catches a big break because it just barely hits that post and then it pops back out to another Longmeadow player and it is eventually defended by Biggins just a crazy sequence of events Longmeadow finally able to get someone their offense going right there once again they've been uh going for the the long balls as soon as they make that defensive play they've been setting it up to their Striker or one of their wings now substitution being made all of their comes out and I believe it was Riley that went in and the foul is called on McCarthy so that allows for a long metal free kick I can't catch his number is it eight yeah I believe it's number eight good kick it's Brayden Costas yeah that would make sense foreign substitutions being made number nine and number four for La medal coming in Paulson Henry and Foster croon Smith with a nice header thank you [Music] Biggins booting up field looking for Monroe Monroe using his speed on the outside to try and Gain Control and that was off on Meadow he'll give Isam Meadow a throw in right to presnell president looking to make a play and his patches ends up in the hands of Henry and Henry will be able to take his punt [Music] gets all the way back to Biggins Biggins heads it to the escoli Longmeadow is almost able to gain control can't quite and that goes out of bounds substitution being made that's shabelli back in the game good to see him he came out with an injury earlier off of free Kick and Shane McCarthy will be subbed out [Music] marrigan looking for Richard it's taken away and now while metal with an opportunity McMahon from the outside or no sorry Christopher karon from the outside straight to the goal posts too high yeah unfortunately field goals do not count for this game this goal is setting up now La Meadow trying to regain control nice touch to the inside Quran from the outside is shot on net and Morgado is able to scoop it up big save once again just a tough angle shot though well defended by Nissan Meadow to put them in that position to force that shot now Morgado will rip it up to Smith with the ball almost gets it to president uses his body to get on a breakaway but can't white make it past that last Defender so unfortunately opportunity taken away from Nissan Meadow gets back to marrigan American to Richard up to Monroe Monroe now controlling he'll send it to the outside it's wretching on the outside with an opportunity he'll take a shot on that and it just goes right Gretchen almost able to bury it just a great touch to the outside to set him up for that and catches long Meadows Defenders lacking Henry catches a break and on his goal cat goal kick he'll make the short and simple play I mean reaction just broke free from the defense there there was no one on him no close yeah caught him completely off guard just left a little bit to the right yeah unfortunately he wasn't able to fully gain control of his steps he's still moving fast so it's hard to get a good shot completely on the Run now Monroe fighting for the ball and it ends up out of bounds for a long metal throw and I believe it's Quran oh no I believe a lot more free kick I'm sorry it is Quran though taking it no it isn't I can't catch the number from this far so I can see Quran in the middle booted to the middle Morgado is just able to scoop that right up it was on that just under six and a half minutes remaining in this first half Morgado will send it to the outside right to wretchen Gretchen controlling gives it to Riley Riley looks up the field can't get it to Richard now La Meadow and skin controlling with the ball [Music] Biggins with it he looks way up the field to presnell and presnell can't quite gain control Fresno's seen multiple Defenders a few different times this game on break always so it's from top for him to create create some space yeah I mean he's usually able to body off the first Defender but it's tough to fight off with two man Smith with the ball in the middle now he's able to make a good touch and now once again a pass to wretchen Gretchen looks to send it to the middle is defended by Richardson and Riley will just set up outside for a quick throw in he's looking at his options they'll send it all the way up to Richard who tries to touch it to Smith and it just gets booted right back out of bounds for another you saw metal throwing Riley looking middle to chevelli shebelie touches it to Smith it's warded off and now Biggins with the ball Biggins holding on he makes a move to the inside and now he gets it to Richard and Richard once again making a move to the inside he'll look long but wretched and Retton almost able to ratchet with the goalie completely out of the net he looks to the middle to Monroe and Monroe trying to fight for possession but it ends up out of bounds defended off by number eight Braden cost us Esau metal once they once again able to get something going sending that ball left side Direction who's had a few opportunities he's able to get by his the goaltender but eventually tries to send it to the middle to Monroe who is fought off by three or four long metal Defenders now Joe Fresno with a shot from the outside it goes way wide me some metal keeps getting these opportunities through this not capitalizing right now but hopefully that changes substitutions for La Meadow Anthony Collins and I believe Finn Richardson and uh Benjamin Goodman are all going in olivarian Hanley also come on for East Longmeadow yep with Riley and wretchen coming off Gretchen with just a great set of plays unfortunately he's not able to capitalize and we still sit at a zero zero game coming into the three minute Mark of this first half that ball ends up with Fresno and president with an opportunity and it goes in left side of the net gold scored by Joe bresnell his sixth of the Season just to the defensive miscommunication which results [Music] which results with the ball and Joe presnell's feet and he's able to bury it off a tipped ball [Music] leading goal scorer Joe presnell able to bury it it's a great play there I mean he was he's had a few of those opportunities this game but he finally was able to capitalize on one great to see that yeah Joe president great player for Nissan Meadow and just his aggressive play Style putting that pressure on Meadows defenseman and he was eventually able to get by mayor gonna able to tap it out of bounds Google scored by number ten that ball go right in the woods I was talking to Presley earlier at school today he said he's going for another hat trick just like he had against West Side this week yeah we'll see one in the first half would love to see it yeah Joe president with a great performance and a bicycle kick goes in what a goal scored by number 11 for Longmeadow Frederick Karan a bicycle kick that just trickles in in an unbelievable goal that was a great goal I didn't even yeah I did not expect that good team answers a goal with a goal and that's what La Meadow did just right there so Metals gotta watch out what a play I can't believe that that was an outstanding shot yeah Quran able to just bury it with a bicycle kick you don't see that often in high school soccer so impressive [Music] you saw that with an aggressive play to start off their kickoff but we're not able to get it to Monroe ball was a little bit too far and that will result with a long metal goal kick Henry setting up substitution being made Patsy able to touch that up to Hanley Hanley now with that he sends it up to presnell and presnell fighting for it but he can't get it well defended by number five I believe can't catch his name Thomas McMahon just a good defensive play all vary with it on the outside now and he is fought off and tripped and it'll be a Long Meadow throwing sent up field all vary with it he Taps it up to Richard sending it to the outside to Hanley and Hanley almost able to tap it up field but that ball eventually rolls out of bounds anyways so long metal number 24 call Ross we'll take the thrawn taking a space up to McMahon and the escoli fighting off two guys he tries to send it up field towards Oliveri but is kicked out of bounds and he was awarded with a free kick either way the escoli booting it up field he's got a leg disco heading it up with control trying to give it to all very can't quite and now all of everybody's his man McMahon great hit there by Oliver which will give a Long Meadow free kick from the outside in a dangerous spot with only 17 seconds remaining they gotta make a play quick I mean but some of these hits we've seen this first half I think we're watching football but soccer yeah impressive not a lot of uh not a lot of calls too so you like to see it let the guys play my metal calling a timeout now which will give them time to figure out some sort of play in Easton Meadow has a little bit of time to make any defensive substitutions that they would like and figure out a plan to stop this Mama obviously with their set play has been a little bit dangerous they were able to get that header earlier on off that corner kick I'm assuming they'll go for pretty much the same thing right here as uh fairly similar spot maybe a little bit more dangerous than a corner kick let's see who they give it to I believe it's number 10.

for Long Meadow Christopher Quran yep [Music] Quran setting up looks to send it Far Side as expected and it goes right out of bounds Morgado just gonna they'll probably just let the time run out yeah Scully just setting up and he will kind of kick it I mean that beginning of that uh first half pretty slow pretty defensive game and then towards the end both teams started to pick it up on the offensive side both being rewarded with a goal so far I mean what do you see Jake what do you think is a stronger team East Longmeadow is definitely in more missed opportunities I'm in longmeadow's goal like the bicycle kick was it was a good goal but you don't get that every time East longmeadows had a lot of shots on Methodist whipped a little bit I feel like they've been the better team so far this time capitalizing their opportunities yeah that goal is definitely a little bit uh spontaneous dude I don't really see that a lot and um I mean they haven't been awarded with as many opportunities as you saw Meadow so far so we have a nine minute break we'll be back in just a moment for the second half and we are back um just over three minutes remaining in their break hour joined by uh Robert Cunningham yeah I'm glad to be here Chad uh uh you know I just I I really thought this was a good game real back and forth you know all throughout the first half and uh you know obviously these barns went up one and then uh Longmeadow came back with a quick one right there you know but I think really this could be a really back and forth game coming into the second half yeah would you notice on the uh defensive Side Oh I thought well Easton Meadows defense I thought they were amazing okay I thought Patsy really kept it down you know they were locking it down AJ big zero in that he was killing it yeah zero big zero yeah he was uh able to stuff that uh corner kick earlier in the game just a big save for Easton Meadow able to get the momentum going yeah it was a really amazing Place special yeah but I I expect to see uh more of this coming into the second half I think our Spartans can hold it down and get this one home yeah absolutely yeah we're in for a good one here we are thank you rob for uh joining us and uh we'll get back to the game just over around a minute no problem always a pleasure Chad foreign kickoff this time not sure yeah I need some metal kickoff uh I believe give it to uh Fresno so what have you noticed so far what do you think Pretzel's been great tonight he's had a lot of opportunities on that he actually cast from those opportunities in he's able to go up one up before Longmeadow came back I mean East London's defense also been great tonight this goalie hasn't let anything behind him so far he's been outstanding yeah just a real back and forth game as we set up for the second half here we're in for another great 40 minutes of play as Joe presnell sets up alongside Zach Richard So Far East Palmetto has been able to get a good amount of offense going fairly consistently and now once again the play up to Monroe not successful and that'll go right out of bounds which gives merrigan the throwing American looking for Monroe can't get to him it gets out to presnell presnell Taps to the outside to all vary can't get it to him now it's stone with the ball it's taken the escoliable to defend it and now Riley able to defend it all a very ripping it up field towards Fresno and Fresno was able to force a throw-in and they will give that to Josh Riley thrown right over to Fresno I'm not sure what happened there looks like they reversed the car oh yeah they did call towards Longmeadow now La meta looking to control foreign height there now Stone Bodied and yep I believe that'll be a free kick and so we'll be they'll give it to Richard Richard advancing it quick looking for Olive area that's shut down now presnell fighting for it and Richard just kicks it out of bounds I'd like to see the offense get going like in the middle of the second half or first half it was moving they had a lot of opportunities and shots on that that's when president ended up scoring yeah even towards the end uh East London was just really going um they'll look to do the same thing now now Dia Scully with a great slide tackle I believe completely legal yep it was it's a throw-in just a great play he's been everywhere on defense all night yeah the sophomore just real good player for Nissan Meadow this season I know he was on Varsity last year as a freshman which does not happen very often here so real good to see upcoming Talent and a corner kick is awarded to Longmeadow clearly the ball was tipped off of a Nissan Meadow player foreign it'll be Quran setting up in the corner as usual La metal Channel something a little bit different here they send the guy to the outside post once again that ball will go a little too far and behind the net which will give Morgado the goal kick they'll actually give it to Biggins this time not the Escola switching it up a little bit between the two given both opportunities Biggins rips it up looking for stone Richard was able to get a head on it now you saw metal trying to move it up Fresno chips it up to Monroe and it ends up in Henry with Henry and he is able to just kick it right out of bounds president with it and he is fouled hard which will give Richard the free kick Richard setting up [Music] Esau metal off ball movement sends it left side it's tipped out and Monroe Let It Go for any Summit of throwing gives it to Riley so far not much going on in the second half as we're five minutes in yeah it seems like it's starting out just like the other one both teams seem to have to warm up a little bit as they get into each half yep um they just gotta tire out that back line foremost of uh the offensive opportunity comes as teams get more tired defenseman get lazy and it opens up things in the middle I'll fight for the ball Richard will end up with it and he looks up field towards Monroe it's ricochets off a long metal player's head Riley now looking for Monroe Monroe able to touch it to the inside towards Richard and Richard sends it to Richards on the outside but can't get to him and now it's marrigan with the throw-in American looking for stone and stone is able to touch it inside towards Monroe who's able to get a shot on net I couldn't tell if he was trying to cross it or shoot right there I think initially he looked for the cross but I don't think he had a guy open so he opted for the shot I didn't really have the angle for that shot it was a good time though now number 12 Robbins wasn't able to get it to the inside it's a good defense by Biggins there yeah it goes off Biggins and results in a corner kick which I'm assuming will be taken by Quran [Music] yep Quran setting up on the corner a metal will go with the same usual set play sent to that back post and AJ Morgado is able to successfully punch it out great play by him and now a fight for the ball just past the 30.

and that ball ends up out of bounds past the goal that was a great punch up by AJ yeah absolutely I mean Quran just typically goes for that back post and AJ Morgado foresaw that and was able to pop it out now Biggins the goal kick he rips it to Midfield ends up back to diascoli the escoli to stone stone is bodied off Ball but not before he gets it to presnell Fresno sends it to Richard Richard now with it Richard sending it to fresnel Esau Meadow advancing quickly but is shut down and it gets back to Stone who sends the ball up field towards marrigan and American can't quite control that ball towards Richards and now La metal looking to control on the outside number 12. Robin is able to head it up Robin's now fighting for the ball eventually gets back to Riley Riley just misses it getting a little ahead of himself he's able to touch it to the outside and oliverius tripped up before you can get a touch on the ball which results in a long metal throwing La Meadow moving the ball quickly now and it is touched outside once again by Islam Meadow giving Longmeadow another throwing yeah these offenses have been slow once again starting out but yeah both teams are having a tough time getting something going but uh I'm sure eventually things will open up and uh that stalemate will soon end now Riley bodying his man raffle award advantage and that ball is directed towards Robbins but Robins can't get it and now marigan trying to make the defensive play and a call was made I'm not sure if it was inside or outside of the box [Music] just outside I believe you saw metal not happy with the call and this will result in a long metal free kick you know looked at me like clean defense there was a guy a long metal guy fell on the ground and yeah unfortunately it just wasn't enough ball for the referee to Let It Go um I believe both qurans setting up outside they usually go for one fake so we'll see maybe they'll go for a couple this time AJ Morgado has to keep an eye out for that yeah just a great opportunity for La medal right here yeah this is both the qurans lining up as well as number three can't get his name oh Wesley Rogas Rogue is stepping up he'll fake Quran on the outside and AJ is able to scoop it up Morgana with a big save [Applause] I mean that was just an outstanding save just a low Ripper and Morgado is able to scoop the ball right up and now Quran is fouled by Richard which will give another free kick yeah as usual back there on that uh that free kick long metal likes their fake when they're in a shooting range and uh Morgado is not fooled he stepped up to the occasion and was able to make the stop once again free saw meta he's been a big player for the team tonight now number eight Braden cost us step up for the free kick As Long Meadow sets up just inside the 30 looking to get something going offensively cost us ripping it up field on net and is headed and I believe an offside yes and offsides was called on Longmeadow giving Esau metal a break is this long metal set up in Prime scoring position Inside the Box off of Ricochet Now marrigan's setting up for the goal kick [Music] American boots it up field absolute rip and that gets all the way up to Monroe Monroe using his speed almost catches up and that ball will result out of bounds in Monroe not happy with that call as they award a free kick to Longmeadow Henry will step up to take it yeah tough call for he saw metal unfortunately he's going wild right now yes I don't think I've ever seen anything Michael Monroe breaks through and he goes for the Chip Shot and it's just too high yeah you saw metal student section going [Music] foreign now a few Subs will be made Riley and stone will come out I couldn't catch you stepped in I believe Gretchen and uh all various the typical person that goes in for uh I don't see all of it yeah I do there he is now Smith sending it off the field and now Joe presnell with the ball and he looks to get on that and it's tipped off Henry wasn't able to control and it almost gets to Monroe if he just waited a little bit longer to come in unfortunately a little bit of bad luck and he wasn't able to get a foot on it Biggins heading it up now it's Robbins Robin's sending it up field and that ball will go right out of bounds which gives merrigan the throwing Marion trying to rip it all the way up to Monroe can't reach him headed up by Smith now La Meadow regains possession a ball up field but unfortunately for La Meadow number kylo O'Connor was caught offsides getting a little bit ahead of himself there that's a huge break for yourself he was he was not accounted for by the defense yeah um you saw mother's back line was able to step up and I'll catch them offsides and now a little tussle between Robbins in Monroe and the call goes towards Robin's Longmeadow Now setting up for the free kick and a little bit of displeasure coming from the East Longmeadow crowd now Ben able Ben Biggins able to box out his guy which gives Esau Meadow the goal kick a great play by Ben Biggins star Defender fee salmetto and Senior one of the few guys that started on Varsity last year not a lot of the starting lineup was starting the year prior at least um obviously we lost around 11 seniors now Richard trying to control it Advantage was awarded and the referee will have a talk with number 19.
