and let me bring that up foreign okay is everyone able to see the screen thank you okay um tonight we'd like to um to give a little bit of background of the LC SSP Grant which I will refer to from here on out which is uh the learning communities for school Success program and the annual progress report and we'd like to share some data uh with you exciting data that we'd like to to share uh and our next steps so the background of the grant the lcssp grant provides funds to local education agencies to support programs at improving student outcomes by reducing truancy and supporting students who are at risk of dropping out of school or are victims of crime and so the lcssp is the result of proposition 47 which reduced the penalties for certain non-serious non-violent offenses and allocated 25 percent of the resulting Statewide savings for Lea grants and for the Alum Rock Union School District we were awarded um uh 1.1 million uh plus over the three years that you see there and as mentioned earlier tonight we are reporting on year two um of the grant and uh our annual progress report includes many of the grant activities that you see here on your screen and last year was the first full year of the SEL Department in operation and in collaboration with state and federal and our business office our district was able to add nine additional elementary school counselors and through our our department and under this grant many other activities included parent workshops on the castle framework which is uh the social emotional learning competencies that um our schools are are providing implementation and education around we were also in collaboration with the Santa Clara County Office of Ed to bring a Wellness Center at aptitude Academy at Goss and we're really excited about that and we also partnered with Aaliyah to bring trauma-informed practices and well-being groups as part of our professional development and last year our counselors we're using a Data Tracking tool under node counselor for the very first time which captured their work and we will be sharing that data in just a minute and we also had ongoing implementation of our scl uh curriculum which is komochi's at the elementary school and we were able to complete professional development for the following departments that you see there around social emotional learning and uh with the adults um as well and uh we also took on monthly counselor professional Learning Community facilitations for the very first time and then we also responded to multiple crises uh and and we responded and supported schools with those as well as expanding our Partnerships which again we will highlight that in our data section of our presentation in terms of our budget expenditures under this particular Grant um we have these areas that we use the funding for in terms of Staff salary extended Duty curriculum materials and supplies contracts and services with our partners as well as licenses and now I would like to turn it over to Dr artigas Who will share our data with you thank you Dr almazan good evening board president Quintero Dr Bauer Board of Trustees and the Alum Rock Community as Dr almazan shared earlier this was our first year as the SEL department and during the course of the year we were able to accomplish a lot of powerful and wonderful things on behalf of students as well as staff and families and we wanted to be able to share this data with you moving forward we wanted to open first by talking a little bit about a collaborative that we had the fortune to connect with this year um in years past we have done a lot of work with the healthier kids Foundation that work has been more focused on hearing and vision tests as well as connection with dental dental health for our students this year however we were able to partner with them to do Wellness checks across our fifth grade class of students in the district and we wanted to go ahead and share some of the data that we were able to collect um go ahead to tell you a little bit about what we were doing this wellness check was being conducted and this was us uh trying to get a snapshot of the last seven days for the students that we were sitting with uh how they were doing in terms of their social emotional Wellness um and so the way that we built it out we partnered with healthier kids foundation and they brought screeners as well as uh pediatricians and school counselors partnered uh we partnered with our school counselors and we provided the wellness checks and if there were students that were presenting with any kind of concerns if they presented with a certain uh scoring then we would proceed as the school counselors to do triage and assessment and then connect them back to healthier kids who would work with our SLS supervisors just wanted to give you kind of a snapshot of what it looked like this is not the entire um assessment but this uh just to give you an idea what we were looking for was uh to see how many of our students may have been experiencing symptoms of anxiousness or anxiety or symptoms of depression um and we were looking like I said at a seven day snapshot um and these were just some of the questions there was a total of 13 questions 10 of the questions were likert scaled um and the other three questions were uh open open-ended answers quality and this was what we found and so as we began to collect the data um and for the students that were triaging this is what we began to find we found that there was a high percentage of students that were presenting with uh anxiousness or symptoms of uh anxiety we also had a percentage of students that were dealing with various group issues um and then as you can see these were some of the other themes that came up there were a number of themes um But anxiety or anxiousness was the one that that had the highest percentage as I said and what we were finding as we were talking with this with the students was there is a variation in their responses uh some of the anxiousness or the anxiety was being caused by family issues basic needs concerns uh particularly around covet impact um and then there were some pure problems and academic work so it was a variation in terms of what we found for the wellness checks through healthier kids Foundation and we had last year we had 910 fifth graders of the 910 we were actually able to conduct the wellness checks for 676 of them so that was about 74 of the population the fifth grade population at that point in time and as I said earlier uh students that were presenting as being borderline or imminent borderline risk or imminent risk were the students that we then had went ahead and triaged so of the 676 students that we did assess we found that 39 of those students actually presented as borderline or imminent borderline and then we found that uh 0.03 presented as imminent risk and then we also wanted to share the school counselor as well as the intern data with you so last year we had a total uh attendance of 8 222 students of the eight thousand two hundred and twenty two we served a total of 3 899 students via school counselors as well as school counselor interns that means that we served almost 47 percent of the population uh and the services for them was done uh via individualized uh support Counseling Services small group as well as guidance lessons and then in terms of the students that we served 2956 of the 3899 students that were served were under and duplicated with identifiers of English language learner Foster youth beginning vento uh SES and spend and these were our findings in terms of the data as counselors were working with students we were beginning to collect data in terms of what were some of the commonalities or some of the themes that were coming up as students were beginning to get connected and disclose more information and so what we found there was a correlation between the findings for the fifth grade students as as well as the findings we had for the students we served with the counselors and that that correlation or that the commonality was the issues with anxiousness or anxiety um and then the other uh piece that came up for us as well was grief and loss grief and loss was also scored a high in terms of the wellness checks so that was another commonality and in terms of the grief and loss what we were finding as we were working with our students was that the grief and loss was happening uh in a variety of ways there was either issues with abandonment deportation incarceration and uh death and death due to covid or other disease and then we just wanted to tell you a little bit about the counselor internship program it's actually been up and running since 2017 um and from 2017 to 2018 uh we had 18 school counselor interns that we brought on board they served 300 students uh with with guidance lessons and 318 students were served via individual counseling the first year well the first half of a year and then the second year uh 2018-2019 we had 26 school school counselor interns we did 102 guidance lessons but we served 461 students via individual counseling and this was across Elementary as well as middle school and then 2019 2020 we had 25 school counselor interns 100 students were served via guidance lessons and 329 students were served via individual counseling the numbers would have been higher but um that was when we went into a shutdown and there were some issues with us connecting uh via technology and then 2020 2021 distance learning 19 school counselor interns 96 students were served via guidance lessons and 182 students were served via individual counseling again some of the challenges for us were connected to uh technology um or having students get in front of their computers at home as we were trying to work with them and then 2021 2022 we had 13 school counselor interns uh we did 571 guidance lessons and 137 students were served via digital counseling uh this year we are well on our way to finishing training and they should be at the end of October and we hope to serve more students across the grade levels um and bring support and in terms of next steps our work will continue in these various areas that we have mentioned but also you know supporting schools in improving and strengthening their culture and climate as well as you know working with the County Office of Ed uh to bring PBIS which is the positive behavior interventions and supports um piece to our schools and continue the professional development and training uh for administrators teachers and staff under scl as well as to maintain and establish more Partnerships this coming year again to help support social emotional learning and mental health and I I just want to say before we close out our presentation that this work would not be possible with you know without all the other departments helping us as well as the work of our school counselors and our school interns that are helping our students and Families you know who who have various needs levels of needs and we just wanted to say you know and uh publicly say our gratitude to each and every one of of them and our district departments uh for helping us get this work um done and uh have our community taken care of so that concludes our uh presentation and uh thank you thank you for that excellent position uh we have a very eager board member behind us ready to go yes that's correct um I am very eager about this item and and proud I guess um because I guess to start just for some perspective you know um some of my colleagues mentioned um the upcoming elections and it's you know the four years has has gone by quickly for some of us on the board and and yet it seems to have lasted forever but in that time I I just think back to where our Focus was as a board four years ago um with investigations and Audits and all those types of things that we needed to clean up and that's where our Focus was that's where our energy was that's that's where our work was and now here we sit four years later with this you know excellent work that I really don't see um in a lot of other places the focus that we have on the well-being of our students and how we see our students not just as a report card or a test score but as a whole student as part of a whole family as part of a whole community and that's the work that that I think is reflected by this report and it's just I mean I get I get chills just thinking about what as I mentioned where we've come from four years ago to where we are now and where we're putting our focus and energy so first of all thank you to everyone um who's doing this critical necessary work here in Alum Rock secondly I just I have a couple questions and I'll ask them at once and you can answer however you choose uh the first question obviously um it you know it stands out in terms of what we're seeing with anxiety anxiousness and I want and I kind of think based on the methodology um this there might not be an answer to this but are we um able to determine or do we have any idea of if we're kind of breaking those two up anxiety you know typically sometimes presenting as either more intense or longer duration or long versus anxiousness temp potentially like temporary I'm feeling so do we have any way or any thoughts about how that is presenting for our students and again given the methodology that we use maybe we can't get to that and then the second piece of it is um also given that high percentage that's um showing up with anxiousness anxiety are we with all the programming that we do have and that that has been developed over the past several years are we doing anything to specifically with those Partners to kind of specifically tailor maybe some of their curricula or what they're doing to put a little more emphasis or direction towards that prominent area of anxiousness and anxiety so thank you that that's my comments and my question okay so I'll start with the first question um trust people hit on those so in terms of the anxious and anxiety we were super hesitant to label it as anxiety because what we were seeing in our students was high levels of worry high levels of fear um particularly you know I'm gonna reference the healthier kids Foundation Wellness checks uh the questions uh directly on there like I said there was a total of ten they uh asked things like you know in the last seven days have you have you been worried in the last seven days have you been scared and so again we were hesitant to really call it anxiety because it's not that it was diagnosed but they were showing anxious symptoms and there was a high level of worry uh and in terms of what the levels of worry were um the the most constant theme was the wellness and the wellness or well-being of families at home a lot of our students were really concerned about uh what was happening with covid they were worried about losing more family members or losing family members uh some of them were contending with issues around family members being hospitalized at that point in time and so a lot of what was representing at that point in time was was built around that piece um and then in terms of what we're doing with Partners to address I know that we've been working with our partners particularly Lee from Alum Rock Counseling Center I know that they have done um some work in our middle schools doing guidance lessons lessons in the middle schools I do know however at least from a School counseling perspective because I can speak to that uh with a lot more knowledge um with our school counselors there's been a lot more work to get into the classrooms and teach kids how to use breathing strategies teach kids how to ground themselves there's been a lot of work done with bubbles and feathers and different things to just teach kids mindfulness and how to be present uh and also how to use breathing like I said to help regulate their nervous system so there's been some professional development around that for our counselors we've also been starting to introduce a little bit of strategies from dialectical behavior therapy which also brings in a lot of the mindfulness and grounding so that's how we've been beginning to address it we are working with Partners uh to hopefully build out capacity to do more of this work one-on-one and we're hoping to add more Partners into the space right now we're working to build a contract with Pacific Clinics so that they can come into our classrooms and provide more supports as well so that's kind of some of the things that we've been beginning to do to address this a lot of what we've been doing has been training our line staff our school counselors so that they're more prepared to support the levels that are coming in the door okay thank you thank you again both of you and and please also give my regards and our regards to the entire scl team obviously very thorough and intentional work that you're all providing based on the needs so so thank you very much thank you thank you [Music] thank you um I also want to commend uh both of you Dr uh Amazon and Dr artigas I know Dr almazam we've met more recently but I really want to highlight it's interesting because uh the other day I called um Dr Bauer and I was like gosh our uh Department you know Dr anmasan and Doctor our biggest are doing so much you know all of our staff are and I think of those things that maybe you know we don't think about when we think of schools you know Fast Math Science those things it's like this is huge and uh Dr artigas I just want to highlight you know I know you and I met each other way before uh you know I thought it would be a trustee way before I was a mother um you know doing the work in the community um and I know that you've been growing at it for over 21 years at least I can count and I have been with you out in the community um so I do want to highlight that and honor that um if nothing else at least with my words you know I don't have a fancy award now or anything like that but I have seen you I have a witness to the support the youth the families coming to you trusting you I know it starts there you know and so personally as a mother as well you know of an eighth grader in this uh District I know that personally you've supported us and our family um so thank you thank you for saving lives and uh Dr almasan as well you know for joining the team and doing this work um at this level right uh like uh trustee Gerardo mentioned in these past four years we have grown so much in these past four years as a district you know with the leadership of Dr Bauer and your work we've been able to just grow immensely um and so thank you for leading that um and I I also have a question slash maybe more of a comment and thought for the future um I know that it all takes resources right and if we could do it all we would um and I did see that you know we we started with this I would call it like a pulse check you know emotionally uh for with the fifth graders and I'm wondering if there's any way that we can do you know district-wide um and you know and you don't have to answer today but maybe in the future I'd love to maybe hear about some of the thoughts and ideas there um yeah and I'm just so excited thank you so much um and you know any way that I can be a support um we're here to do the work together thank you thank you all right thank you Dr yeah guys um I did that there was one percent isolation one percent substance abuse and one percent food into food that's good numbers but um the one percent of students food insecurities one percent to me is two months agreed um but so what is the what I want to ask is what is the follow-up when they say that they have those is can is that Offline that that has to be said or no no not at all not at all so um for the food insecurity that that you're speaking to that was connected to the healthier kids Foundation piece um and so what was really brilliant about this collaborative was that when we were working with them in real time the healthier kids Foundation folks were making phone calls to families and getting them connected with resources as well as rerouting them for other needs um that may be more counseling based to our SLS supervisors and so all of this was done in real time we made the phone calls day of after speaking with kids with students um and then our our partners from the healthier kids foundations were making phone calls to the families that same day and getting them connected with services so we were trying to do everything as much as possible in real time um so thank you for answering for asking that question um and then in terms of growing it next year we're going to do fifth and sixth grade and we're going to keep working with our partners to expand it hopefully into the higher grades yes well first of all Dr Ortigas and Dr Amazon I want to thank you for your work and also your team for for setting up you know a full-fledged social emotional learning uh Department here but I think I I'd like to take sort of a a going forward type of perspective here and I think it's the uh you know as we make our way out of the pandemic and uh we're still plea uh we're still dealing with the after effects even though we are back into in-person learning uh well and I say this because guidance counseling is my day job actually yeah of course uh it takes time it takes effort to unwind uh the effects of uh isolation that we've uh had uh you know uh being the distance learning has put our kids in uh you know I would say more than Cabin Fever it's the law you know for one and a half years it's the loss of uh social skills and also academic skills that are dependent on the interaction between uh student to student and student and teacher and um you know this is you know uh you know this effort is a recognition that uh academics does not exist in isolation alone you know we would like to think that you know math and science and English language arts and history can be can be taught but it can be taught but there's also uh I've always said in public that education is a partnership between school and family and um there are a lot of things in children's lives that frankly have to be uh have to be worked upon before a child is ready to to engage and succeed academically and so this is you know a huge commitment for our district to uh to address uh you know not not just those everyday everyday social and emotional issue but also uh you know dealing with the after the the social effects of distance learning as we move forward hopefully is uh what is it the old term Time Heals all wound and so [Music] district is working on and have worked with will will get there we'll get there for our kids so thank you so much for you know both of you and your your team for all your uh all your work for on behalf of the keys in our district thank you it truly is a collaboration and um we thank all of you for your support in this and again this work cannot be made possible with everyone uh especially our counselors our teachers and our site leadership so thank you for acknowledging uh the work that everyone's doing for the benefit of our our students yes uh and I'll conclude with my comments I want to thank you all for the work you're doing the All-Star team that you put together uh to carry out this work I know that the information that you've uh provided is essential and I think it brings to life many of the things that we Face here in Alum Rock as a district um and so you know similar to some of the comments have been made many people tend to attack attack the district attack their staff attack our children uh because you're not stepping up to the level of somebody on the other side of the ballot well when you take into account all the things that our kids are going through that uh some people because of others because they have access to the wealth that they have or the resources they have aren't having to go through Alone um and they have the support uh I've heard time and time again people from our side of the valley right here in East Temple said trying to get access to therapy access to different resources that somehow are not provided on this site and somehow are all provided west of 87 and downtown and the west side of the valley and so those are the things that we need to take into account uh and so I think the information that's been provided uh the work that's being done is essential in order to level the playing field in order to not even level the playing field just acknowledge that the disparities do exist and that we need to meet those needs before we start trying to tell our students you're not achieving at this level um because that's not fair it's not fair heck even at looking at our own uh neighbors to the South and to the north of us the wealth in each of those districts doubles just they're right next door to us you know several by the street and then now when we look at some of the most vulnerable uh it's not even just half of the wealth it's probably a quarter uh that they're going off of in order to just try to survive in this Valley in this one of the most expensive cities in the country so thank you for the information and for the work that you're doing to ensure that uh that we we continue to address the needs of some of the most vulnerable in our districts thank you thank you president thank you all right um moving outside of 6.04 we have a public comments item uh Mr board president at this time we have no requests for public comment all right um did we take in 2024 yeah they have some ambitious plans there you know really you know in the next couple of years but it'll be great and it's going to be a great partnership with us too they've included us and we're going to be able to utilize a lot I mean some some of the stuff that's going to be going on there will be phenomenal and and while we're at it too I like to just also um um I I wasn't able to attend this this morning but there were six principles um and Robert salivar was out uh what the Simon Family Foundation as the board knows that we are our students uh will be receiving the first Simon scholar scholarships uh the spring of this year valued at uh twelve thousand dollars each or sixteen sixteen yeah sixteen thousand yeah and we have about 32 students that will be named is that right so that's what we need to clarify it's actually um we we were at 34 but from what I understand now we um it could be up to it could be more than that there's a total of 200 students across the county that will be receiving these types of scholarships and um from our six schools that are part of this program it could be 30 40 50.
that you can see on your screen and so this is the way it is printed and was given to you originally and now uh Cass is going to show you the adjusted page it's like ten thousand yeah so uh there's a difference of um yeah it's about fifteen thousand dollars difference in line uh line 19.

any questions no all right did I move that we approved the Bullhead City School District classified salary schedule reflecting the new positions October through December of 22. I'll second that motion Amanda Ayman all in favor aye Amanda amen aye Charlene Diaz aye Anna Boyd I'm Melinda sabrowski aye Corey Burgess item 8.4 um School District classified salary schedule starting January 1 23.
Mr President and board members minimum wage increases compared to our salary schedule actually from the current real one it's a dollar and five cents or a dollar and something but we already were above the minimum wage with the schedule you just approved so to meet the new minimum wage this salary schedule increases every position by 50 Cents and so it's essentially the same salary schedule you just approved but 50 cents higher in every cell and I recommend we approve it any questions do we have a motion I'll make a motion that we approve the Bullhead City School District classified salary schedule starting January 1 2023.
second that motion unaboid all in favor oh you guys are waiting on me now I I'm Melinda sabrowski I can't avoid I I generally indeed us oh I am Anna images all right item 8.5 substitute pay rate I'm sure Mr President and board members uh the uh minimum wage amount that you just approved on our classified schedule affects the amount that our substitutes are paid by ESI the company with whom we contract those services and so I'm recommending that we raise the daily rate for um for our substitute teachers to a hundred and ten dollars a day from the current one hundred dollars a day and um and then just the note that that would mean that half day Subs would be paid 55 dollars per day and not make any changes in the other two so short-term Subs who work greater than 10 days in various positions would make 115 dollars a day and any long-term Subs which means that they're in the same position for more than 10 days would make 150 a day so those two things are not changes but the but the change for the single day rate would be 110 and that's a ten dollar increase questions I move that we approved the substitute pay rate I'll second that motion all in favor hi Amanda Ayman hi Charlene Diaz aye Anna Boyd I'm Melinda sabreski hi Cory Burgess item 8.6 new paraprofessional position at Coyote Canyon Mr President and board members we have not been able to fill some teaching positions at in Coyote Canyon preschool particularly in the special ed classrooms and of course those are programs we are required to have so we do have that grant funding new grant funding this year hqel and some other grant funding so I'm recommending that for the remainder of this school year that we add two more para positions so that we have enough adults in each of those classrooms any questions this also says that it would give us some flexibility for more students so does that it does right because right now all of our classrooms are absolutely full we have waiting lists we have waiting lists of special ed kids and that's just not uh with this good thing so would this alleviate that waiting list or just put a dent in it it puts a dent okay any other questions and we continue to look for certified teachers iMovie approve item 8.6 let's look at that motion all in favor aye Corey Burgess hi Amanda amen I'm Charlene Diaz aye Anna Boyd I'm Melinda sabreski item 8.7 resolution authorizing the district employee neighborhood project to be designed and built Dr Stewart Mr President and board members I have the attachments there for you and for the public to see first of all the recommendation from the attorney that given the impossibility we had of finding an engineered a standalone engineer and move through the process plus time is passing and so a design build means that we are essentially when he's what he's recommending to us is that essentially we're looking for a developer so it's kind of like um you know somebody goes out and buys property and then they get a developer who does all of the all of the design work all of the engineering all of and then has subcontractors to do the job and so he's recommending that that's a good way for us to move at this point we've spent a lot of time talking about this I spent a lot of time on the phone with him talking about this and of course Mark's been involved in in all of these discussions so you have his recommendation and all the legal all of the legal authorization for you want to make this decision and then you see my memo recommending that as well and then the resolution that you all would need to pass so that we can move in that direction any questions no and I move we adopt the resolution 8.7 I'll second that Amanda Eamon all in favor aye Corey Burgess hi Amanda Eamon aye Charlene Diaz hi Anna Boyd I'm Melinda sabreski some of item 8.8 resolution supporting the fiscal year 23 aggregate spending limit override Mr President and board members we've talked about the aggregate expenditure limit numerous times we talked about it last year because we needed to uh we're we're talking about it again ASA had a resolution or had a letter that over 200 superintendents of the 242 districts in the State signed sent to the governor and to the legislators asking for a special session to deal with this asba has been working on this and they're asking school boards to um do resolutions to encourage a special session as well so that's what you're seeing here is a resolution that you all are going on the record as saying please make this happen sooner than later so that we don't have to sit here and and try to figure out how in April we would cut three million dollars from our budget yes any questions I move that we uh adopt the resolution 8.8 oh second depth motion all in favor aye Corey Burgess hi Amanda Ayman hi Charlene Diaz aye Anna Boyd I'm Melinda sabrowski so I'm out item 8.9 regulations ebcra emergency's new EVC RB emergencies renamed in EBC RC emergency is new uh these are the regulations that we discussed in the presented and discussed in the workshop any more questions on that when I move we adopt uh regulation 8.9 I'll second that motion all in favor aye Corey Burgess hi Amanda amen hi Charlene Diaz I'm Anna Boyd I'm Melinda sobrowski uh item 810 policy jlcb immunization of students this is a first reading so no action is required and we looked at that yeah and you looked at it in the workshop yeah yeah 8-1-1 regulation kdbr public right to know Freedom of Information this is also a regulation that you were looking at in the workshop any questions I move we adopt a regulation 811 a second that motion and a boy all in favor aye Cory Burgess I'm and amen aye Charlene Diaz aye Anna Boyd I'm Melinda sabrowski how to meet one two policy jldab referrals to other agencies this is a first reading also and we discussed this in the workshop no actions needed item 813 the 2022 ASB policy service advisory advisory regulation and exhibit changes Mr President and board members the this is that whole list of uh oh no this is the regulations that go with the policies that you already adopted yes okay any questions on these regulations and I move that we adopt eight one three I'll second that motion all in favor aye Corey Burgess aye Amanda amen aye Charlene Diaz hi Anna Boyd I'm Melinda sabrowski so moved 814 approval of preschools and Diamondback and sunrise Mr President and board members sometimes uh things get caught and sometimes they don't and so of course we report attendance from our preschools to the state and just like we report attendance for our other grades this year the state finance department the Ade finance department emailed me and said uh no you don't have the Pre-K for Diamondback approved we don't have any record of that approval so I sent I sent Cass to the all the old files for way before we had bordocks and she spent probably two days in there going through things to find when the board had approved the preschools at Diamondback and sunrise could not find it the only evidence we could find or that she could find because she did all the searching was the hiring of a preschool teacher for uh sunrise and that was from a board agenda in 2015 and the hiring of a teacher for the preschool or a teacher aide for the preschool at Diamondback from 2014. so there's nothing in the record that indicates that the board ever took formal action approving those preschools oops Yeah so we'd like to do that and rectify that so that we get the funding we are entitled to for those okay uh yes and guess who was president I'll make a motion that we approve the preschools at Diamondback and sunrise I'll second that time all in favor aye Corey Burgess hi Amanda amen hi Charlene Diaz hi Anna Boyd I'm Melinda sabreski so I'm out uh item 816 yes attack um item 815 board member resignation Mr President and board members Mrs Boyd has submitted a resignation because she will be moving outside of our attendance area not very far away but across the line it was not my fault fair enough this was beyond my control okay so okay trust me I tried really hard to stay in District and we just could not make it happen okay um with that sorry to see you go but we will need to uh first make a motion and vote to approve accepting the resignation and then so actually I'll just make a motion that we accept the resignation and then direct my report effective December 31st 22.
yeah I'll second that Amanda Eamon all in favor aye Corey Burgess aye Amanda Eamon it was not my fault I Charlene Diaz I'm Melinda sabrowski Candyman can I accept my own resignation okay I am a boy now I I have to I have to I am a boy item 816 can being two executive session ARS 38 431-03 A1 discussion or consideration of employment assignment appointment promotion to motion dismissal salaries disciplining or resignation of a public officer appointee or employee of any public body except that with the exception of salary discussions and officer appointee or employee May demand that the discussion or consideration occur at public meeting no request was made no request was made okay so with that we need a motion to enter into executive session oh thank you I'll make a motion that we adjourn to Executive session I'll second that all in favor aye Corey Burgess I'm in Eamon aye Charlene Diaz aye Anna Boyd I'm Melinda sabrowski we are an executive session [Music] thank you foreign [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] thank you [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] thank you [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] we need a motion to reconvene our regulars close our executive session make a motion to close the executive session my second Amanda amen all in favor aye Corey Burgess I'm at Eamon aye Charlene Diaz I'm Melinda sprowski so moved now we need a motion to reconvene our public session I move that we reconvene into public session I'll second that motion Charlene Diaz all in favor aye Corey Burgess I'm a Damon aye Charlene I'm Melinda sabraski all right um item 10.2 consideration of the request a resignation for Anna Leo we have a motion I do I move that we accept your resignation and with regret and with no penalty I'll second that all in favor aye Corey Burgess I am in Ayman aye Charlene Diaz I'm Melinda sabroski so I lived um I have 10.3 conveying to Executive session to ARS 3843103 A1 discussion or consideration of employment assignment appointment promotion to motion dismissal salaries disciplining or resignation of a public officer appointee or employee of a public body except that the exception of salary discussions or an officer appointee or employee May demand that the discussion or consideration occur in a public meeting we have a motion to enter into executive session I move we move into executive session I'll second that motion all in favor aye Corey Burgess I'm at Damon aye Charlene Diaz hi I'm Adam hi I'm Melinda sabrowski you're back in the united session [Music] thank you foreign [Music] thank you [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] we need a motion to close executive session I'm moving close executive session I'll second that motion and avoid all in favor aye Corey Burgess I'm at Eamon aye Charlene Diaz hi Anna Boyd I'm Melinda sabrowski so I moved I need a motion to reconvene our public session I move that we reconvene into public session all in favor aye Corey Burgess hi Amanda amen I'm Charlene Diaz hi Anna Boyd I'm Melinda sabrowski do we have a motion for 12.2 I move that we accept the resignation of Nancy weitzick uh without penalty I second that motion annaboid we have a motion and we have a second I'm sorry could you repeat the motion I said that I I made the motion to accept her resignation without penalty I was seconded I Amanda amen no Melinda sabrowski Anna Boyd buddy no without penalty no Corey Burgess nay Charlene Diaz motion does not pass I move that we accept the resignation with penalty I'll second that motion all in favor aye Corey Burgess nay Amanda Eamon aye Charlene Diaz Nana Boyd I'm Melinda sabrowski some moved um closing items 13-1 future topics do we have any future topics that would like to be placed on agendas I think we've got several of them already on the any others that we'd like to uh have placed on there if you do think of one or one comes up um or past bedtime for a lot of retirees um right now four minutes four minutes exactly four minutes ago yeah and like we've made a lot of suggestions tonight Mr Burgess I have a problem with uh next months meeting okay what is this so that's our 32 up well is that our upcoming oh do we have any upcoming board Events first nope no upcoming board events all right um then let's move on to date and time a future meeting uh right now November 10th um no not an issue for me yep um can we possibly move it to the 17th is there anything pressing that we have to have approved or done before like the 15th of the month uh for November that I know of okay everyone else go to the 17th please all right I'm good with 17.

or like I said we are set up outside of the Press Box so we've already had some sprinkles we've moved some stuff around a little bit already so we're gonna try to stick with it uh we're getting word that we might be able to come inside so we might be doing that here in a second too we look across the field as the rain comes down again so we might be moving to a quick break so we can get re-situated because of course it's going to rain once we get things rolling so um don't forget to go to our sponsor Aces wild the pregame sponsor they have the aces wild Queen of Hearts which benefits the Columbia quarterback Club jackpot currently over 2500 so that's Thursday nights at 7 30. so Jared we look into this game here that we have tonight um but first we're going to talk about Salem in last week's game Eagles Are Victorious 44-7 so give me your thoughts on your rundown on last week's game against the Wildcats from Salem I think like uh you're here on the Coach's Corner every week anytime you can get up early on a team especially with an hour hour and a half bus bus ride uh I mean that's that's pretty big um we started early we had two plays on offensive side of the ball and we had I think you you called it right after they uh they ran that second one for a touchdown Dom had that 95-yard touchdown run we ran two plays and we scored we scored twice so anytime you can your offense can do that you're going to be in good shape and you look at a little bit more of that game that was kind of a uh a comeback game we needed to get that win and get things rolling that gets us our five wins for uh gets you eligible for the playoffs obviously one more here tonight locks you into it so that was a big game getting up on top early and uh getting the win and at least giving yourself a shot at week 10.
yeah and having those two running backs in the backfield uh Bryant and Janik can give a lot of room for Don Begley to work too anytime that he rolls out also uh having wet soul wike and Carter Hicks guys that can catch the ball pretty well out of the backfield and put him out at split out it's pretty nice having seeing everybody uh kind of kind of get better throughout the year I mean given number 12 some more weapons you look at the numbers for last week rushing wise Yannick nine for 40. Bryant seven for 27 vaguely five rushes 123 yards three touchdowns highlighted by we'll say that 95 yard run receiving wise white three for 80. he's caught that first one for the 40 yard touchdown pass Wetzel three for 106 with a 59-yard touchdown pass and Hicks one reception it's all he needed he got his first uh touchdown of the Year vaguely finishes the day off seven for ten 165 yards three touchdowns and the big thing 375 yards of offense nice little game for the Eagles on the offensive side of the ball yeah number 12's been doing that all here through the air and with his feet he's closing in on a thousand yards each and running and passing and I think you said on the Coach's Corner and the coaches we don't think we've ever had a quarterback that has really the numbers like that in one season um so we'll definitely be looking for that tonight and next week but we're most mostly looking forward to a win so now we flip over on the defensive side of the balls don't have too many numbers as Salem did not keep their stats but the big thing is got the shutout for majority of the game we gave up one touchdown with I think 250 remaining in the game so more or less a shout out for the Eagles and four times getting to the quarterback four quarterback sacks out of four different guys yeah and we haven't talked about Logan Hicks uh a lot like we should um we know that uh Brandon Jackson went down with that injury we had to bring in Logan Hicks to play a little linebacker for us and he he really he's really filled that spot for us coming in blitzing every now and then and having having uh number 12 come up play a little linebacker two uh where he's normally playing safety so those two linebackers have really been playing well over the last couple weeks Ben Scott was a big tackler on the special team side of the ball getting all the tackles I believe on kickoff sir at least he was getting close so you look Logan Hicks led the way 10 tackles Ben Scott 10 tackles Sean horn a name that we haven't said too much he's got eight and Joe Kish with seven so pretty good night for the Eagles finishing off the game going winning 44-7 and proven to 52 or five and two I'm sorry five and two three and one on the conference and that pushed Salem to one and six and Owen four in conference play and you look at a little bit more I mean you talk to coaches and that Holton meets Coach's Corner inside the nest you can find that on Spotify they were pretty happy and like coach Warner said that's the first time really putting a complete game together and another week where he's not having this throw and hope something happens yeah and if you win first down on offense I mean you're and you get those manageable second and third Downs it makes your play calling a lot easier as we said all year and then on the defensive side of the ball I like coach remains said all here if you get stops on first down uh especially playing teams like East Alton Wood River and Salem last week kind of puts them out of a bind because they're usually a run first offense so you put men put them into a situation that they're not really used to we're here tonight in central getting ready for another big Cahokia conference matchup a conference Championship on the line Breeze Central for sure has a share if the Eagles are able to win we'll be able to get a share of that Cahokia conference as well so they want to try to get stuff done we're going to run to a break real quick we just got word that we might be able to broadcast from inside so it might be a little bit of an extended break we might be moving inside we're not sure yet but stick with us and we will return back to the aces wild pregame show right after this foreign welcome back into the aces wild pregame show as we come to you inside now as we were able we had a little bit of a miscommunication so get to come inside where we don't have to worry about the rain no more Jared so we look at the game that we have here tonight cougars team 6-1 coming in taking care of business all year in a pretty good game and a pretty good team that we have in front of us here yeah anytime you come up here uh you know you're going to get the best out of Coach short and the Cougars so Eagles got to be ready for this game tonight um can't really worry about the weather or anything else you just got to worry about coming in here and playing your best and trying to get a w look at the conference standings and the conference schedule here Breeze leading the way 4-0 in conference play Wood River 3-1 Columbia 3-1 Roxanna two and two free burgo and four Salem Owen four you look at all of our games tonight thank you sir that's scary yeah look at the games here tonight Columbia at Breeze Freeburg at Salem and the big game that I think is going to be a good one is Roxanna and East Alton Wood River and that could be another conference determining game we're going to run to the national anthem real quick and we'll be back with the aces wild pregame show after this foreign [Music] foreign [Music] let's see [Music] [Applause] so Jared you look at that conference standings like we said earlier Breeze already has a share at least of the Cahokia conference they get a win tonight they will be outright champs for the second year in a row Wood River needs to get a win for their share and if Colombia loses obviously the Coca conference is one tie we all tie but say Colombia gets in there we get the win uh it'll be at least a two-way tie with us in Central and if Wood River gets a win there's a three-way tie so we just kind of want to be spoiler here at this point and spoil an outright championship for the Cougars yeah and it's senior night here tonight so you know there's the fans are going to be ready all the kids are gonna be ready uh probably it could be their last home game you don't know if they'll get a home game um but they most likely will since they're six and one um and I think I don't know who they play week nine but uh even just we can leave that behind us but um yeah coming in here tonight you just you got to be ready going against the central cougars uh they're they're usually big quick and I mean we haven't seen a spread offense since what we four or five so um coming in here tonight you just gotta read your assignments uh play assignment football and just do your job Central is one loss I said six and one their one loss was week two against modern day and that's just a conference game I believe modern day is four and three this year um that's just a rivalry game rather you never know what's going to happen on those games Joe I think all that like the milk bowler milk bowl yep yeah they lost that one 27-14 and other than that they've pretty much taken care of business all year long and you look at their offense they've got a pretty good quarterback dual threat guy they've got a running back that's going to be a sniffer back and we'll we'll talk about him a little bit he's going to take you to the football majority of the time yeah number six is kind of kind of similar to Dom vagley he's 80 for 85 for 150 uh 1300 yards 10 touchdowns four picks and then he could also do it on his feet he got 92 rushing attempts the most on their team they got 370 rushing yards with him and then four touchdowns so we're gonna have to play a little defense on uh on him tonight pretty good atmosphere at Central great PA announcer here on another great facility as well still a natural surface all green yet nothing really no mud yet we'll see what happens by the end of the night with the rain it falls and it goes away it comes back it goes away so we'll see if that affects anything Eagles this year or this week rather captains are going to be number two number three 23 and number 12 so that's going to be Carter Hicks Wetzel white and vaguely are captains and the central captains Jared uh looks like six they're quarterback Connor freeze looks like 13 Braden reverman who's the really good receiver uh we'll talk about him a lot tonight uh 25 Chase Lewis I believe he's their uh full back and then we got 61 one of their linemen Thomas scrage so those were the captains for Central I did not see did we win or I didn't see either but usually if we win the toss we like to defer expect or unless uh coach Warner wants to come out and sling that ball around and try to get a early lead which last week that turned out really well for us and he he talked about you know we need to be able to control the line of scrimmage control the football and control the clock this is an offense that you know is going to put some points up you know they're going to be able to control it and uh I'm interested to see how our boys are able to respond this is always a hostile environment it's always a fun environment so I'm interested to see how our boys are going to come out and play because this sideline here they got it rocking yeah their fans are all up I mean it's senior night like I said could be arguably what could be their last uh home game so they're gonna let it leave it all out there on the field looks like they're wearing black uniforms tonight with yeah I kind of like that with the purple helmets and Eagles are going all white white helmets white tops white pants a lot of guys over there white shoes so it's a white out for the Eagles clocks at 30 seconds refs are getting set up it's almost Eagle football time well thank you for joining into that Aces wild pregame show don't forget they got monthly and weekly giveaways this month they are giving away four tickets to a Blues game all inclusive tickets um just all you have to do go in and sign up all you gotta do is talk to whoever's working tell them that you want to get signed up for that giveaway and that changes monthly that's Blues tickets for October uh fifteen hundred dollars in cash for November right before Black Friday and a brewery Lights tour in a package for that in December so head on up there get involved with the weekly and monthly giveaways get involved with the Columbia quarterback Club Queen of Hearts currently sitting at 25-31 on that drawing on Thursday nights and uh Jared we look now when this audio only broadcast we don't know what's gonna ever happen with uh internet we're able to get it we have enough room for us so audio only for this game audio only is going to end the aces wild pregame show as Breeze kicks it off gonna be recovered by The Eagles I don't know if that was a squib kick or just a kick that wasn't very good but regardless Logan Hicks recovers at the 39 and that's where the Eagles are going to take over and we'll see like I said earlier we'll see a little spread offense from re-central tonight so kind of running the same stuff that we do so we'll have to see if uh Alex opening that ski huh gotta get one whenever you come to Breeze so vaguely is going to be the quarterback in the backfield Cameron janick is his running back Dalton rainwater is closest to us we're going from left to right right now yannick's going to take the handoff nope it's going to be a keep by the quarterback he's going to go up the middle he's got the 40-yard line he's another 30.
to the 20. one play for the Columbia Eagles and they got themselves six points on the scoreboard foreign ER like that start I think it's going to be coach Horner Coach G coach Kendall no emotion out of Coach stump and uh Baker up here with us but everybody on that eagle sideline fired up as Dominic vagley goes 61 yards in for a Columbia touchdown and Jared you got the Pats I got a wall in front of me yeah you're gonna have to do the left side of the field boy right now looks like wetzel's gonna be the holder vaguely taking his steps now waiting on his call good snap good hold it is up and it is good Eagles Take a seven nothing lead here early 15 seconds into the game that Manny Maguire's group scoreboard now says seven nothing with 11 45 now and like I said I mean you can't ask for a better start than that talk about taking a sideline out of that too I mean this place is now silent on this side of the field so if you're like here said coach Warner you're thrilled but now Coach G you got to keep it quiet now too and uh you got to get yourself a stop so vaguely coming into the night like we said he's over 700 yards rushing at 700 and 70 some 771 so add 60 yards to that he's having himself 832 yards officially look at that on the season Steve would be proud so quick start now he's going to be doing the kickoff and the wind is going to be blowing across the field closest to us over towards the Eagles sideline so we'll see how vaguely we'd like to pin them deep and we talked to Coach Kendall and that Holton meets Coach's Corner that second line is going to tell you where the football is going and and can you explain a little bit of that reverse or the fake reverse that they run um I mean I guess the teams that we've seen this year I mean they try to do that fake reverse and I mean coach Kendall's all over it usually because he watches all that film on probably every team um throughout the year but um I mean I think they just try to catch you off guard Central is going to let this one go out of bounds I think it was headed out of bounds already but the wind AIDS it a little bit more and that second line like you said they might crisscross but depending on who catches the ball I think depends on if they do reverse it or not and I'm sure they have that figured out before the game starts yeah and on some teams uh I mean your kickoff team it's not your best tackler sometimes guys need a little break on the offensive side of the ball um and you put them on kickoff so I mean you can take advantage of that as well but we'll see we'll see what this brief Central offense can do now as they just came out on the field they get the third the ball to 35 yard line looks like we're gonna be in a three four-man front look at that Alex he's gonna switch it up for you this week gonna go right up the middle this time and it's gonna be good for about four brought down by number 57 Mason Schnabel for me in front three linebackers that leaves the other four guys being the defensive backs and you look at number 25 as their sniffer back he's going to take you to the football if he pulls it's going to be run if he stands up it's going to be a pass play so the Eagles are gonna have four down linemen once again gonna be a pass to the right side just hitches gonna be good for about 15 yards and a first down brought down by vaguely and the Cougars are now into Eagles territory at the 48-yard line and I believe that ride receiver Braden uh River man I think he started as a sophomore I remember talking about him a couple years ago this year he has 41 catches for 740 yards six touchdowns he's averaging 18 yards of catch so that's something we really got to watch out for tonight gonna be a run this time right to us number 25 pulls and he's able to get blown up a little bit gain of three vaguely and Hicks on the tackle and I wonder I wonder if we'll see Zach Wetzel kind of follow him around um because they just go that kind of single wide receivers on both sides and they have a tight end pass play play action good job sniffing out by Hicks and he's going to make the tackle that's okay play action there he took one step in he realized it was passed dropped back into coverage in him and Mason vaguely make the tackle at the 40 to bring up a third and two you gotta watch out for this up back here he's probably gonna lead you like you said earlier right where the ball is going to go so I'm reading 25 here could be huge for the Eagles I mean they could probably use him as a pulling like a pulling guard like we do with Carter Hicks so we'll see uh what they got drawn up here on Third and two tied and left doubles to the right side gonna fake it to the running back quarterback keeps it himself he's got a first down he's gonna get out of a tackle brought down by I believe number 75 Joe Kish and I think Schnabel on that play got lit up in the backfield on a pulling guard looks like Kish is coming out now I didn't really see who came in I believe it was Stefan Matic Stefan so that would lead to a three-man front which we do no Anthony anthonis this week as well so we're down alignment same formation once again rolled out to the right side it's gonna be another hitch number 17 catches it brought down by Wetzel but that's going to be good for nine nine yards bring up a second down and one they're just running uh little hitches right there and wetzel's starting seven eight yards off the ball so and then he's dropping back a little bit to see what that wide receiver does you know sometimes as a corner if you know because I I wasn't I wasn't the tallest or the biggest guy but um if you know that you're Governor guy that's got got some height on you you got to give them a little bit of some more separation trips to the left side hitch to the right that's what they throw they get the man-to-man coverage he makes Wetzel miss Cameron janick's gonna run him out of bounds as they get into the 10 yard line first and goal for the Cougars they're moving right on down the field with 9 15 in the first quarter are we in for a shootout tonight quick start here by both teams they've showed doubles they've showed trips they've showed single guys out by themselves empty back fields as they're now bringing one guy on late number 84 Caden rakers that's a normal name we'll hear up here they're gonna fake it to him go up the Middle with the quarterback he's got the five and I think he's going to be brought down by a bunch of Eagles right there 57 Schnabel and 40.
cam Janik off the pile all I can see is uh Central's offense right now so you're gonna have to take this one 850 remaining you can hear Coach G checking out he's got a new formation he likes to see tight end to the left they're gonna fake the handoff again quarterback's gonna run to the right it doesn't look like they're going to get in another stop by the Eagles Maybe a gain of two vaguely ended up with the football at the end of the play Coach G was trying to call check check and they called the play so Central bringing the big guns in third down and three from the three they got everybody up quarterback's gonna run to the right side it's a little bit of a wild cat and it's gonna be touchdown cougars okay thank you number 25 Chase Lewis for the touchdown [Applause] and that's usually their up back He's listed as what is it six two where's he at on there six two two thirty so I mean yeah if you have him running Wildcat and all you need is three yards he's gonna put his head down and he practically uh walked into the end zone there and he's doing their kicking tonight look at that good snap good hold kick is up goes off to the right but it sneaks in and that ties the Mandy McGuire group scoreboard cougars seven Eagle seven with 806 remaining we're gonna head to a break and bring you the rest of the first quarter right after this welcome back to Breeze Central the Eagles and the Cougars starting off fast another deep kickoff this time going to be caught by Bryant at the seven he falls back to the five gonna have to run to the left side Gets behind a couple blockers gets to the 15 where he gets brought down and that's where the Eagles offense is going to start off I don't know if it was when I was in high school or whenever you were in high school but I I think somewhere along the line Central had the kicker where they would throw a steel-toed boot out on the field and he would put that on and he would literally just walk three steps back and just boom just boot it through there oh he used to crack me up so you can't find one soccer player nothing just to come kick for you cougars four down lineman they're gonna fake the Jet Sweep gonna be kept by vaguely he's got 10 yards he makes a cut up field he said the 40 to the 50.
cougar territory 40 30 20 slowing down to the 10-5 end zone touchdown Columbia Eagles Dom vaguely for 83 yards into the end zone I don't even know what to say on that one so he's got 83 yards and 61 144 yards rushing for the Eagles in two plays and all of about 30 seconds I don't even know what to say oh my goodness if you guys could have seen that he just knows how to make people mess in great vision and then he's got that extra Breakaway speed and not a lot of people will catch him great job there by Vega and now you ask him to go do a pat now the only problem is it doesn't give your defense much time to uh take a break High snap brought down by Wetzel it gets up and it's good so hey at Mandy McGuire group scoreboard getting all sorts of attention here tonight as it's now Columbia 14 Central seven and I don't know if they're over pursuing there on the central side of the field we know we ran a little bit of that jet option right there jet motion and they crash a safety hard and uh ugly just runs right underneath of him and I don't think he on those two carries I don't even think he got touched yet he didn't have to really break any tackles he was just using his feet and using his vision of just finding the lane to hit and he did that on the first two plays that the Eagles have had the ball I mean coach Horner coming in uh going into last week I think we had one touchdown on the opening drive against Waterloo um and then we didn't score on the first opening drive for a while um so anytime you start a game two plays two touchdowns and then you do the same thing the next week I mean that's that's pretty special so vaguely walks out onto the field and we've talked about this before the officials are a little bit more lenient I believe with uh him getting a little bit of a breather he's come off the field a little bit more these last couple weeks but not much wow it's unfortunate that we have to be audio only because those are two great plays to be able to see but hopefully our excitement and our voices brings you the the joy that we're close your eyes yeah so vaguely is going to kick it left to right once again sends it up this time going to be down the middle of the field gonna be caught they're gonna run towards us right here they fake the reverse Mason Bailey's got to pinch it inside he does now he's going to chase Ben Scott's gonna have to chase two gave up Pickers and the kicker's there to make the tackle down vaguely at the 29 yard line and goes our run of about 100 yards to gain 20.
so the Cougars are going to take over at their own 29 with 732 in the first quarter I'm still speechless about I didn't know what to say whenever he was still running that was wow Central comes out on the field with two wide receivers to the left the up back left it's gonna run a little screen pass over here to 13. and he's got a little bit of room on this left side looks like he's going to be tripped up by who do you know Don vaguely maybe a gain of nine gonna be a second and one I kind of like Central's taking there a little bit of a time so it's able to give our guys a little bit of a breather as the rain has now stopped falling for the most part six guys at the line of scrimmage now for the Eagles they're going to run it to the right side with number 84.
