we did it [Applause] please welcome Piper Kegel singing The Way We Were [Music] thank you [Music] memories like the corners of my mind [Music] scattered pictures [Music] could it be that it was all so simple [Music] if we had the chance to do it all again tell me [Music] please remember simply choose to forget [Music] we will remember [Music] whenever we remember [Applause] the way [Music] foreign [Music] [Applause] good afternoon teachers and staff family members and classmates my name is Christopher Kowalski and I am thrilled and very excited to be here together with my fellow graduates one thing I am most proud of is passing all classes and being able to meet the High School requirements to graduate from Boulder Creek a highlight during my four years here was attending the football games and going to the homecoming dances I am appreciative for having supportive teachers who helped me be successful and I am also thankful for my parents who helped me throughout my high school Journey now I would like to introduce a mislation who will deliver the faculty address [Applause] thank you Chris Mrs Sutton colleagues parents and most of all students when Mrs Sutton asked me to speak at your graduation my heart actually skipped a beat my daughter asked if there would be a three second delay on the mic but then I thought I have a message to share that you haven't heard yet and I accepted my theme today is about gratitude when my mother and father got married they had a plan my mother would work and my father went to college on his GI Bill mom and dad did without for three years newlyweds who rarely saw one another savored one special dinner per month and sometimes only munched on popcorn and peanut butter for dinner the stories they told made it so sound so romantic mom knew nearly as much as my father did about civil engineering as she typed all of his papers they made it through to his graduation learning how they work together leaning on one another to meet their goal was powerful for me things did not always go their way but relying on this memory of building themselves from nothing gave them the confidence they could do it again if need be for my parents the gratitude for all their struggles was unmistakable through their hardships they grew stronger your road may be mapped out like my parents or maybe you have yet to make a decision about your future no matter there will be bumps in your road though but persevere through them no matter what hardships no matter what gets you down pick yourself back up again be grateful that you have the education required to be able to move forward in any direction you desire be grateful that you experience such great teachers at Boulder Creek High School to help you along your way I too am grateful for the opportunity to have been your teacher you have a limitless future ahead of you go out into the world with the confidence to accomplish the goals you set you are my future and I am grateful for the chance to help you grow into your adulthood I appreciate all of you I believe in you congratulations you are on your way this is your beginning and remember I love you be safe and always make good decisions [Applause] and now please welcome Brooke Alvarez student body president class of 2023 wow we did it as I stand up here and think back to January when I was writing this I can only remember how lost I was on what to write I thought to myself how am I going to say goodbye to my classmates best friends teachers and favorite staff members after rewriting the speech way too many times and researching others for inspiration I came across one thing that really stuck with me all of them included everything we would lose from leaving High School I mean we are going to lose some important memories like changing the routine we have followed for the past four years and not seeing our best friends every day or running through the gate at exactly 7 30 when Todd is yelling at you to run faster although most of those are true that is not what I'm here to leave you with today three months from now we will all be in different positions whether that be heading straight to work a university or Community College trade school or taking some more time to decide all of these options are okay and that's why this is such a special moment we have finally gotten to the time where we are no longer comparing ourselves to the 500 other students in our graduating class we all have the chance to find what we love and I beg you to not stop trying until you have class of 2023 this is our time and it may seem normal right now but as soon as you walk across this stage you have stepped into a new chapter of your life as I conclude this speech all I ask from you is that you take those chances you never thought you would you step out of your comfort zone and most importantly remember that once a Jaguar always a Jaguar thank you we the graduates have a request of our audience during the reading of each graduate's name we request that you refrain from blowing air horns and other noisemakers we the class of 2023 once want each of our classmates names heard we do appreciate your enthusiastic Applause and thank each and every one of you for being here and now Mrs Sutton thank you to Aisha for your profound thoughts to Piper for your wonderful performance Christopher for your introducing our faculty speaker and to Mrs Rainey lation for your words of wisdom and to Brooke for her farewell president of our governing board Miss Jenny paperman on behalf of the entire Boulder Creek High School staff and administration we present to the governing board the graduating class of 2023 graduates who have met the standard set forth by our state and District on behalf of the governing board and at its president it is my pleasure to accept this graduating class from Boulder Creek High School for the year 2023.

uh that's true [Music] so we'll continue now with our regularly scheduled business meeting um Mr Roger Smith our Blue Ribbon update please Madam president members aboard Dr Smith again we continue on Ln West Wing we are nearing completion on this major portion of the building uh LC or the new Art Labs finishing touches going on there and likewise in uh media center Fields continue on we've had a couple of good weeks of weather so they're making a lot of progress on the site improvements at both buildings actually you know the pool continues on the steel girders are up and almost all the concrete walls are in place phase two at Ln continues again six classrooms and a small theater Commons area second floor is being erected with steel the gym continues renovation and of course the two-story demo continues as well LM pool tile work continues on as Wells the rest of the portion of the building the site work around the pool continues likewise the site this here is a new if you go back one is a new parking lot at the Ln soccer and baseball stadium and this is a soccerville being prepped for Turf those are middle schools prepped and ready to go for renovations that start in June and ln's almost there their portable was delivered this week our Fall Creek Valley I'm sorry LACC we can our forest Glenn Portables uh are in place and they'll be set starting next week after the kids are out of the way and uh ready for four classrooms in addition for uh Forest Glenn LACC the new lecc we continue to design work on that facility as well great Ward do you have any questions about how we're progressing on the Blue Ribbon facilities plan I do have one um thank you for the updates Mr Smith with the summer athletic camps going on at the high schools for instance basketball and volleyball camps where will those be housed in while the construction is going on uh we'll be moving the parking lots around through the course of the summer so they're going to have some mac uh actually parking on the North and the west side but there'll be moved periodically because we have a lot of site work going on but we're still going to conduct our camps both for sports and Performing Arts okay in the gym yes oh okay so it'll be well the field house oh in the field okay at both campuses okay okay thank you great and then we go on uh Mr opposed Ford resolution approving the land transfer for the new lecc Madam president members board Dr Smith I'm kind of excited about this uh information bringing to the board it's a proposed board resolution and land transfer from the Ford uh Harris reuse Authority and tonight we have some guests with us first of all I want to bring out Mr Jeff Quackenbush from Barnes and Thornburg and also with us tonight is board president Jeff vess from the fhra Fort Harrison reuse Authority as well as Jason Fenwick who is the Secretary of the ReUse Authority these gentlemen have been very instrumental in getting us to this uh position of obtaining this land so doctor or Jeff Quackenbush thank you Mr Smith Madam president members of the board Dr Smith it's a pleasure to be with you this evening these two items go together uh the resolution approves the transfer agreement that is that has been described already this would locate the new LACC on the Fort Harrison facility area um and is the essential terms of the contract are that it's an exchange of property for no cost associated with that so you're getting all the land for no cost to you all uh in exchange for which you're agreeing to build your new lecc building on that site and use it for the purposes of the administration like you're using the facility here currently um there are some additional action items that have to be take place for example you'll have to get a survey and go through title work and things like that that are in the agreement as well but the key component I would just like to highlight is that this is a win-win for both situations because it's allowing a nice government facility to be on that property but also it's lowering your cost of your construction because you're not having to go out there and purchase new property so I would be happy to go through any of the terms and conditions in the agreement if you have any questions regarding that we discussed this and negotiated it with uh the recent Authority and their attorney and this is a very similar document to what they've used with other governmental entities when they've exchanged property for no value so it's not any bit different from their standpoint than what they've seen from others so I would just like to say how grateful I am for our Community Partnerships this is outstanding outstanding and thank you to the Fort Bend reuse Authority for um seeing the value and having our our school Center there on the site any other comments questions just thank you thank you thank you I was just going to add I think this is going to be an awesome and incredible opportunity for our community to have our school district there and part of all of the great work that's happening in the Fort Harrison area I know Amy and I both sat on the the reviews of the different Architects for the facility and I I'm just so impressed by what we have in store for us the lecc also what we're going to be able to then do with this building to repurpose it for for other usage uh the the fact that we're not paying for the land is really critical to that so thank you thank you yes thank you it's exciting and exciting time in downtown Lawrence so thank you all foreign with the board we'll move on to um the proposed agreement of the transfer of the property correct and so the document is is just the agreement that's that you'll be approving as a part of the resolution under 4.1 as I stated this agreement is very similar to what they've used with other governmental entities in the past um and what two things I also want to point out here is that you need to start construction no later than July 1 2024 it's currently contemplated that we'd actually start construction uh much sooner than that especially now that we have the property under our possession shortly Hereafter we will be able to then start really doing the design work on that on that property and get that all ready to go it's currently anticipated that we'll start construction either at the end of this year the beginning of 2024 so that gives us a six month cushion there and in addition then it's required that we be completed with construction by July of 2026 it's currently contemplated that we'd be done by December of 24 or January of 25 because we need to vacate this building to be able to do the transformation that is needed to bring this second phase of project here so so it gives us enough cushion there on time time to be able to get those accomplished there are the store the standard outs if there's any sort of delay as a result of material supply disruption anything of that sort that would not trigger a default into that but that is if everything is going smoothly then you have to be completed by those dates but great any questions any clarifications thank you for being with us you're very welcome thank you all right okay now this is going to be a nice exciting conversation the proposed 5 8 Academy Dr Brown and Mr kuznick Smith members of the board as with as was referenced now that we've talked about uh important for us to talk about what will now take place in this building once that move occurs tonight our team brings to you a presentation of the proposed 5 8 Academy and future programs here at Lawrence education and Community Center currently here at lecc we house our diagnost diagnostic day treatment which is facilitated by our exceptional Learners division Lawrence Advanced Academy Lawrence educational Alternative Program also known as leap we'll be proposing adding a Home Access Center adult education and Craig prep which will be a 5 8 Academy with the exception of Craig prep all of these programs would be known as the supportive tiers at Craig otherwise known as stack you know how we love our acronyms in education so we hang up with one more of them so the support of tiers at Craig stac all these programs except for Craig which we separate from that we would still have Community Partnerships here at lecc and Ms Sean Bush will talk about that and Dr Smith president Mustin and members of the board the Community Partners you see listed here are all currently housed at lecc and would remain we have the sharing place the offices for communities and schools the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce and the Lawrence Township Schools Foundation would maintain storage here at LACC Miss Bush so this plan will reintroduce Craig to the Lawrence Township community as a school proposed legislation makes school buildings vulnerable right now at this time and reestablishing Craig primarily as a school will not only offer options and alternatives for our students and families you know serve them better but it will also protect our building asset so the additions that we're proposing to add here at lecc Edition number one would be a Home Access Center this is actually a program that we looked at before covid but for obvious reasons had to shelves so we bring that back today so when appropriate the Home Access Center would provide after-school programming including face-to-face instruction to support students that are currently placed on home access program would be available Monday through Thursday after school from four to six with different days reserved for different grades so for example Middle School could go on Monday and Wednesday in high school would be on Tuesday Thursday Staffing would involve four High School teachers and four Middle School teachers those could be in the form of stipends given to a teachers to have this as an additional duty outside their contract and would need four classrooms to provide this since this would be after school those four classrooms could be shared with LA addition number two would be adult education you'll see this slide does not have a whole lot on it yet we wanted to inform you that we're exploring the um the potential to offer adult education programming in the evening here at this building as we explore that we'll learn a little bit more about what we needed for Staffing and classroom needs right now the cost can be difficult for an adult education you don't get ADM dollars for adult education therefore we would explore some other possible grant funding that is out there to support adult education and the final Edition Craig Prep Academy I know we're all excited to hear about that and Craig prep would be a new school within our Township that would serve ultimately a total of 400 students but 100 students in fifth grade and 106th grade the first year and so we would build that program starting with Fifth and 6th and 7th and 8th for a total enrollment of 400.

what's a voted in favor of this organization occurs and an order is issued from the state board this organized School District no longer exists my interpretation of that and from what I can see in statute all buildings will be closed once you just organize all those state board will determine how the disorganized School District property will be attached to another District or districts as I looked at our map it appears to be that we have a possibility of 10 school districts that touch our orders some are very small catching dark borders but it looks like we have 10 school districts that touch up border which would be an eligibility to receive property from USD 112 that was to disorganized since the Kansas unification law tonight there is no way for a single School District to divide to create additional school districts no additional school districts can be formed per state statute only existing school districts that comes from the government consolidation law in the 1960s if the election is held on a question of this organization it fails another election on this issue cannot be held for two years I will be available for Community meetings and wherever for information just contact me I think I've had make three getting set up right now so if any Community groups or organizations would like to have a meeting I'll make myself available for information uh relying at the Board of Education cannot approve a position for or against the question Newark and District funds be spent anyway from one way or the other on this question can support have questions thank you answer the majority of the questions um I did want to know so if a no vote is cast by the majority of the district we could pursue a land transfer transfer if there is another interesting District since we haven't petitioned the state for that USD multiple assets and you don't lose any rights from circles to take statute explode just as they are now oh okay so it is a yes vote the State Board of Education that's my understanding would come in and hold a hearing somewhere to what we did in August in order to determine what districts yes I didn't know that they will have hearings I'll listen to patrons they were more likely to pass surrounding districts they also said at the end of the day they will make the decisions that they think best suits this organization it won't be personal interviews other than what they we might do to surrounding districts I'll just do a hearing I just had a question for uh what is the in-game for this petition from for Wilson I never gotta I've had a multiple answer but I just where do they want to happen I don't think I have the answers to that question and again I think I was asking well to go I mean I petition I can't tell you who's six years are on that I couldn't tell you filing games I think this week praised it I could tell you what that I will tell you yeah and you're educated opinion the state has shown a movement towards County white schools is that what you would like to be likely to happen no several things I didn't like it off and on the last two years and that was inflation I will tell you Western Kansas I know four counties in my area that are counting why I had a few things I believe that if you've been assigned territory is going to be reasonable assistance Regional population almost I mean it's all kinds of different factors not burning existing districts some type of a messiah and we are in five different counties but they're not going to dispose of this organization and one piece that they can go into multiple listroots no if they don't say you again but I can't take the rules that was concept I don't believe that this territory on the side of the district to become our students at the schools see I see a lot of districts online cases and we'll tell you evaluation is very critical it's very fortunate to have evaluation don't you think it's reasonable at the State Board take into consideration you mentioned a number of them already receiving District as well as a bunch of communities as well all that consideration have a hearings and so forth so that they could go to several different our property District right now look well could be split up in several different businesses right and I could see you know I think the different question how the counties was appropriate because I can see that I think illicitlyn I the district would say uh we're interested portions of the history in order to consider that anytime there's a property that's redistributed if there's a disorganization it'll have to be a reorganization of the board for population or state statute and because I will tell you that is something I want to consider if that is going to ship the population for what area of maturity to another area particularly I think purpose but also thank you and this is all unknown it's never ever correct so what we can predict what we'd summarize or what rumors or thoughts going on events they're all not valid because it's ever been done right at the end of the day [Music] enabled mechanization they'll take things into advice I think at the end of the day they're going to look for their case with us thank you so kind of as a summary for a week um I was looking at the Statewide District map and there are at least 11 other districts that are either in County Wide or two-thirds to three quarters so that is something to consider and then also most likely all of the buildings will be closed majority and it would be up to the receiving District to decide take an Attendance Center would be real quickly utilized and it would be a mistake people and realizing toward your spirit and hopefully there's a majority of Builder we will continue with local control and continue to seek the best options where are these regions throughout the districts because there's you still have to stay for a general election of course the district house Sports significant there's no guarantee we're going to have a crime rate but we have so many people there could be a city that's what the primary is what that happens so you said it would have to be nearly likely to be a bit of suspicious USD 112.

to say that it feels like just yesterday that we were freshmen at Thunderbird but that would make me a liar back then 2023 felt like it was so far Out Of Reach so far away yeah here we are now allow me to give a short recap of the unique experiences that this class has gone through to get this far our freshman year was unfortunately cut a bit short due to the pandemic and we are forced to shift to online learning the situation wasn't any better during our sophomore year as we had to follow our protocol and stay at home at this point the social side of high school wasn't looking too good however then came junior year this was the year when we did our best to go back to normal procedures were of course still in place to make sure we didn't take a step back but for the most part things were getting better this brings us to where we are now senior year a year where we showed up in full force a year where we were able to accomplish so much so many exciting experiences it's always amazing to remember the games where the t-squad would pack the stands all the chance you could hear and all the quotes you could see on the posters beat the Bulldogs during our homecoming football game or my personal favorite down to the demons we also can't forget the energy that was brought to all the assemblies and this year every season came with its own region champion and without a doubt the student athletes of this class have set the bar for the classes that follow all this thing all these things and a lot more illustrate the journey that we have been on through High School stepping away from that for just a moment I would like to bring attention to the senior gift this year we'll be gifting the school a new stereo system for the auditorium we hope that this gift will better the experience of using the audio showroom especially for those who find themselves in their often such as those who are active in the Performing Arts class of 2023 each and every one of you that is sitting in that cap and gown is one of a kind a one-of-a-kind student a one-of-a-kind person you have made this you've made it this far by being one of a kind and as you go out into the world grow and become the best version of you I have had the honor of meeting and getting to know many of you don't for a single moment think that you do not deserve to be here through all the stress of studying homework tests you all made it enjoy it and continue to make the most of every opportunity that lies ahead of you to the parents faculty and the staff we appreciate you we wouldn't have made it this far without you and to the class of 2023 thank you for making my years a Thunderbird and thank you for trusting me to serve as your president it has been my absolute pleasure and I'm excited to hear about the amazing things that you are yet to do thank you go Chiefs [Applause] at this time I have the pleasure of presenting those students who have earned the highest academic honor to be received longer than normal I was caught off guard you've heard the recommendations the consent agenda by the administration I have a motion still moved second motion by Mr Smith second by Mr babject questions or discussion on those items they're big nun all those in favor please signify by saying aye aye those opposed motion carries five zero thank you before we go on we've got some introductions that we would like to make um let me start mark would you step up or turn your microphone on there and introduce uh the two secondary positions that we have that are here with us this evening and then uh you guys very good welcome and then our second uh secondary appointment is it's a familiar face if she could stand up Amy that's you so Amy helmuth who is currently at Crown Point High School and has been as an assistant principal and been with our Corporation for quite a while she will be taking on the role of assistant secondary director for our Corporation and really have a a very concentrated effort on that new Ed center with alternative school an 18 to 22 year old programming so we're excited about her taking on that new role [Applause] Ryan Ecker joining us as the Timothy ball principal and we are very excited to welcome him he is currently the principal at Red Cedars Elementary and he is really going to be excited to join the family that is established at Timothy ball is bringing a Ryan Ryan to introduce your wife [Applause] and if you do don't feel obligated to stay that's one of our rules here seriously if you got to get to one of the if you got to get there'll be plenty of time for us to get acquainted so if you do have to leave for another activity you're more than welcome to do so at this time I can't help but acknowledge a friendly uh face in the crowd in officer Noonan so I just want to say thanks for your presence this evening it's been a long time since you've been at the high school where it was a daily activity for you so thank you for coming tonight item 5.01 apply for and receiving funding from the Challenger Center Grant Mr Hartman thank you Mr President uh seeking your approval for another year of sending our fifth graders to the Challenger Center in 2023-24 this is part of the curriculum in science when they do uh have to the opportunity to engage in some learning before they get to the Challenger Center and have the experience of being uh in the in the lab and then coming back and debriefing on that I think it's important to note that we've been part of the Challenger Center since its Inception I mean that goes back many years and we continue to send our children our students there and the experience that they receive and have is uh always something that is a highlight for them as they go at the end of the end of the school year seeking your approval tonight to receive apply for and receive the funding from the Challenger Columbia Grant you've heard the recommendation of the administration to approve to apply for and receive funding from the Challenger Columbia Grant to support fifth grade students attendance at the challenging Learning Center during the 2023-2024 school year may have a motion motion by Mr Vassar second by Miss Basin questions or discussion all those in favor please signify by saying aye aye motion carries five zero thank you thank you sure always to get it right we're always here about getting it right 5.02 course Edition for the 2023-24 school year at Colonel wheeler and Taft Middle School Mr GM Fermi thank you Mr President in accordance with Indiana code Crown Point middle schools will be required to implement a new sixth grade civics course during the 23-24 school year as prescribed by the state the Civics course will be offered during the second semester of the sixth grade the course will focus on major principles values and institutions of constitutional government and citizenship based on our founding documents of the United States of America Crown Point sixth grade teachers have worked with the Crown Point Blended instructional design specialist to create this course based on identified Indiana State Standards it's the administration's recommendation that the school board approved the course edition of the sixth grade civics course at Colonel wheeler and Taft Middle School for the 23-24 school year you've heard the recommendation of the administration for approve the course edition of sixth grade civics at Colonel wheeler middle school and Taft Middle School for the 2023-24 school year they have a motion motion by Mr babject second by Miss Basin question or discussion uh question mark um was the sixth grade mandated by the state did it be at that grade level correct yes okay in that semester yeah the other standards will be covered in the first semester and then there's an adjustment of seventh and 8th grade standards so everything will still be cut so I believe the sixth graders were in social studies we're studying ancient European history is that still the case seventh grade it's it's that I think they're like in South America for the sixth grade I must have okay but that this will not take the place of that instruction okay that's my question okay okay so it's an additional course Dr Terrell a nine and if so how does that plan I know currently students who are in band or acquire or orchestra I believe have some other like like limited opportunities just in terms of what fits schedule wise um how does this factor in there it's a semester long so it'll just actually feel just like the social studies course for sixth grade and seventh grade and eighth grade so it shouldn't affect any of those type of courses it'll become part of their wheel if you will as it rotates through and I can just add to that knowing one of those history teachers close and personal up close they are prepared to teach that Civic class as I had that discussion last evening so I'm thrilled about it yes always teaching our youth more things in Civics a good course subject for that that age group if I could vote twice I would yes with what I do as a profession right all those in favor so Mark so I'll just make sure I'm getting this right so in in sixth grade what they used to learn in two semesters they're going to learn in one so the standards have been adjusted so that yes they'll still cover what they did in the first semester in sixth grade then they'll do the civics class and then some of those other standards have been pushed into seventh grade and eighth grade so everything can get covered so it was sort of spread out okay thank you for that clarification all those in favor please signify by saying aye aye those opposed motion carries five zero five point zero three purchase of the data center UPS Mr Reese thank you Mr Mr Angel uh members of the board uh tonight we have for before you the purchase of an APC UPS which is an interoptable power source from cdwg at 149 985 dollars this equipment to use to moderate the intern from when power goes out to when the generator kicks on if you understand it's critical not to lose those systems which include our phones and all the computers and network so with that we're recommending approval the purchase of the APC UPS from cdwg at 149 985 dollars you've heard the recommendation of the administration for approval to purchase the APC UPS from CW cwg at 149 985 I have a motion motion by Mr Smith second by Mr babject question or discussion um what's the lifespan on something like that in terms of how often that would be replaced or or is that do we have that information six years six years all right thank you everybody else okay all is in favor please signify by saying aye aye those opposed motion carries five zero purchase the Dell ABS backup solution Mr Reese thank you Mr Angel members of the board tonight we bring before you a backup solution from Dell this will move our backups from being on premises to being out in the cloud this is a three-year agreement of that being out in the cloud so with that we're recommending approval the purchase of the Dell Abs from electronic strategies Inc 213.91 you've heard the recommendation of the administration for approval to purchase the Dell Abs from electronic strategies Inc at 346 213.91 may have a motion motion by Mr babject second by Miss Basin question or discussion with this would this purchase help at all in the issues that we had back around Thanksgiving prevent things like that having a backup then the intention will be that with it being cloud-based that it's living out on multiple places where we should be able to retrieve our information so we believe so it doesn't help nor hinder then it should be a help should be help okay all those in favor please signify by saying aye aye aye those opposed motion carries 5-0 5.05 purchase interactive pair of panels Mr Reese thank you Mr President members of the board tonight we bring you the last rooms for the interactive panels This is the second wave these are the panels that are used to provide instruction within the classrooms with the opening of new classrooms for the start of the next school year and as well as equipping the new administration building these panels will be throughout that building and also to fulfill the new Wing at the high school and some other areas within the district so with that we're recommending the purchase of 209 clear touch panels document cameras webcams and adjustable Mount carts and installation from tri-electronics at eight hundred and two thousand six hundred and four dollars you've heard the recommendation of the administration for approval to purchase I don't know why they worked 50 there 209 clear touch panels document cameras webcams adjustable Mount carts and installation from trial electronics at eight hundred and two thousand six hundred and four dollars may have a motion so move motion by Mr Vassar second by Miss Basin question of discussion try Electronics did the other touch screens as well so same type of touch screen panels correct we've had to have Success With All right yes I'd just like to note that based on these last four approvals and the dollar amounts I got into the wrong field let me just tell you that so all those in favor please signify by saying aye aye those opposed motion carries 5-0 thank you Mr Reese I hope we do have one more there or two more 5.06 light speed application sound system Mr Reese thank you Mr Angel members of the board as part of the technology plan to equip all of our classrooms similar to the interactive panels going into those rooms we also have an amplification system that allows the teachers to amplify their voices throughout the classroom so with that we're recommending approval to purchase 186 light speed amplification sound systems with flex mic and Media connector from Lightspeed Technologies at 240 684 dollars oh you didn't read that last part you've heard the recommendation of the administration to purchase 186 light speed amplification sound systems with flex mic and media connectors from Lightspeed Technologies at the amount of 240 68500 from the PE PPM qpa contract number 528-897 they have a motion motion second motion by Mr Vassar second by Mr Smith questions discussion all those in favor please signify by saying aye aye motion carries five zero 5.07 server San infrastructure Mr Reese thank you Mr Angel members of the board tonight we bring before you the purchase of vxrail virtual server and data infrastructure this is lasted price in 2017 uh net equipment normally lasts around five years we're into our sixth year with that so with that we're recommending the approval the purchase of the Dell vxrail from electronic strategies at 568 487.67 you've heard the recommendation of the administration for approval to purchase Dell vxrail from Electronics strategies Inc in the amount of 568 487.67 I have a motion space in with the motion second by Mr babjek questions or discussion I'll just reiterate um obviously all of this is necessary and doing what we do behind the scenes and even though dollars seem you know on the high end of things we only do what's best and spend the dollars wisely on what we need to do to make sure that we have these systems instruments and all that in place so thank you for all the work behind the scenes with that may have a motion or I'm sorry we got that a vote all those in favor please signify by saying aye aye those opposed motion carries 5-0 again thank you to all involved item six superintendent's discussion groups um whoever might like to get started with either Cedar Lake Crown Point I know nothing's going on in Winfield Cedar Lake Redevelopment we we did not have a meeting in May because that meeting was set for election day so the next meeting will be next week and hopefully it's not the same day as commencement I just thought of that um so there's nothing new to report from Cedar Lake thank you Mr Vassar Mr Smith nothing tonight okay thank you moving on to 6.02 director of Elementary education Mr Ramirez thank you Mr I didn't know titles were moving so I had to like think of that okay all right all good thank you for thank you Mr President bored this opportunity to thank our community and our families we had educator Appreciation Week the week of May 8th and it was incredible to be out in the buildings and to see how our community members and our families really celebrated all Educators in our buildings they were very well treated and appreciated during that week so I think it's always a great week to be in the buildings I also want to congratulate MacArthur for their participation in World robotics this year as well as I want to congratulate Lake Street for their performance during math bowl in our regional competition where they really excelled lastly I just want to really I think highlight when we were coming into the board meeting today the energy that was out in the hallway when we look at our educators of the Year staff of the Year administrator of the Year there is truly such commitment to what we do day in and day out and the love that everybody brings to very challenging jobs with a lot of responsibility is felt I think in the hallways in here and I think it's an exciting time when we think about our retirees we think about our new hires we're getting ready for next school year with the new teacher Academy it's just really a great career and profession to be part of to know what impact every person that we hire can truly have on one another as colleagues as well as on our students so I just leave today's board meeting very excited about getting ready to wrap up this school year and going into next school year with some changes a lot of still similarities that we will continue with our values and our vision thank you 6.03 director of secondary education Mr G infermi thank you Mr President let me start off with Mr Vassar you are correct ancient World in sixth grade you doubted me huh you spent you spent 10 years right I should have never thought of you so I just want to correct that um also I want to congratulate the Crown Point high school music department for receiving a total Department award at isma competition uh only one of 19 high schools to receive that award I know I had recognized the middle schools the last board meeting and I just didn't have enough information out of high school it doesn't surprise me that they would receive that honor as well and then just a list of things that have happened since I've seen you at a board meeting I attended a transition fair and I'm going to let Miss pascus maybe get into the details of that of over 75 businesses and Ed Partners there just a career fair with a kind of the slant on special education students being able to have those opportunities went to a military appreciation day where Mr Marston's his uh administrative team honored six graduating seniors in every branch of military was represented except the Coast Guard went to an internship luncheon at St Elijah's Hall where Miss Vega and her 280 interns were there with their business partners next year we are looking at 350 students being interns from the high school which is a great Community Partnership community of the Crown Point Community Foundation scholarship night where Crown Point Community Foundation Jim and Betty die Foundation Crown Point Education Association and the Hoffer Family Foundation awarded over seven hundred thousand dollars in scholarship funding to the class of 2023 714 thousand dollars to be exact um Colonel wheeler choir students did their final performance at Bulldog Park great using that facility to highlight our students and then finally a new tradition here in Crown Point schools the graduation walks where all seven elementary schools in St Mary's welcome back students that had attended those buildings about 35 to 40 students in their cap and gowns got to walk through the hallways and get chaired by all the other elementary students and you see a lot of tears from elementary teachers and and kids and it's just it's really great new tradition that they started here so again in echoing what Ms Romero said it it's just a great time of year when you can see all those teacher of the year finalists being part of those interviews and hearing what they really do I mean we saw them stand up here and but just hearing them and talking about their passion for what they do for this this community in the school corporation it's a really appreciate them so just all the things that are happening in the schools and all the Community Partnerships I just wanted to highlight those thank you thank you director of exceptional education Mrs pascus about our unified Game Day on May 10th still had in the clouds a little bit because it's the best day of the year hands down and I wanted to point out some people that really helped make it happen and Rachel Dunlap is our physical therapy assistant and she just takes it on and organizes all the activities and schedules the classes and the students their rotations helps draw a map of the field where everyone should be stationed and then not only ran it you know the events that day but got a whole bunch of high school volunteers to come on board and and help out so I really appreciate Rachel it's just something she has taken on we didn't necessarily assign it to her but she just goes above and beyond so I really think Rachel for her work on that Mr Smith was able to stop out I really thank you for coming um seeing Mr Reese In a Special Olympics t-shirt I mean it was just it was a great day I want to thank some of our donors um Kyle ropack one of the local business owners donated two thousand dollars for the day which helped cover the cost of shirts and food the wheeler Builders Club donated a hundred dollars and Wheeler also allowed us to use their Bulldog mascot costume our new McDonald's on 109th Jack lubesnik donated 400 dollars so again if you could have seen the smiles you've probably seen pictures online and maybe you have even heard some stories from folks over there Just Smiles all around great day to end the year special education can be tense and stressful and I think ending it in that way where everyone gets a chance to succeed and Excel and have fun just shines the spotlight on our kids how great they are so thank you all thank you for all the work involved in that and I think probably no Miss Allen I did see the picture on the corporation website now is them carrying the banner in or at least it was last night about seven o'clock so uh Chief academic officer Mr Hardman thank you Mr President um uh reflecting on graduation that's coming up and as Mark has shared a number of the opportunities the things that are taking place as far as celebration um about eight years ago we had a child that was adopted into a family that came from Africa this child came to Crown Point Community School Corporation and this child no we could we did not know the the age of the child the child had maturity to her and also academically she was performing well below her age um she attended Jerry Rice Elementary School it was a commitment on the staff that Jerry Ross as well as Mrs Lindsley that they would do everything possible to close this Gap um this child left Jerry Ross after two years continued on to Colonel wheeler and um same thing happened and I think Tim was the principal there the goal was to really close the gap for this child so that this child could could graduate that child was graduating this year and what a success story for that child for the school corporation Tim Jen the staff that's been involved with her and that's what it's all about that's awesome thank you Chief Financial Officer Mr Reeves I have nothing this evening thank you director of communications Miss Allen sorry I wasn't ready Freda as we wrap up the school year I want to thank the various individuals in our buildings who help with all of our Communications efforts everything from website to social media to newsletters the list goes on but there's no way that I could do it by myself with 11 12 buildings out there and just to prove why this team of individuals is so important I did run some numbers so our Facebook reach this year was 570 000 Unique Individuals so not you know everyone in this room saw things that added up to half a million but we reached over half a million individual users on Facebook this year website views one million sixty six thousand newsletters 432 000 views earned media of three hundred and seventy thousand dollars which we don't pay for because it's earned and then parent Square which we adopted this year we have only a fraction of our teachers using everyone will jump on board next year but just the small number of people who are there this year we had 20 000 direct messages sent to parents we had almost 4 000 photos shared with parents 3 200 Mass messages and over 6 000 parents volunteered to bring in items or sign up for volunteer times pretty pretty impressive so thank you to those individuals in our buildings who help with that thank you 6.0 that's it oh okay I want to make sure 6.08 superintendent of schools thank you um all the things that we've heard this evening the excitement that you felt as we came in I just want to take the opportunity to thank all of those it's hard to believe we're at that point where graduations next week last school day is Friday it's been a great year it's been a challenging year but when we look at all the things that have transpired over the year and tried to reflect back on that it's been pretty amazing where we've started where we've come through and and now to get to this point the things that you heard about tonight from our cabinet the things that you saw with all of our teacher employee of the year Ministry of the Year being here those are the things that make Crown Point Special and those are the things that when we have a an opening for elementary position four of them and we get 85 applicants you know I mean those are the kind of things that set us apart from other districts and I had the UN for me it wasn't unfortunate for the superintendent I was speaking with it was unfortunate conversation this morning to let them know that we were going to hire one of their administrators away from them and you know it's that time of the year and that's one of the hard things about the business but being able to attract people who want to come here with experience who want to because and when you say why why Crown Point and they say and they start listing all the things that are going on the culture the professional development opportunities the resources that are given the supports that are given the kids the community just truly an amazing place to be so excited to see what's the summer has for us and we know that'll be over before we know it and Mike molaski is freaking out just hearing that right now so thank you to everybody that's been involved with that and appreciate all of you and your support with that as well thank you item 7.01 other business of the board Mr van anybody got anything before Mr Vassar has his legislative nope go ahead Tim okay I left you a legislative report this was uh I didn't type any of this up okay so this was given to us at the district meeting earlier this month and um I'm not going to go through the whole thing because it's pretty extensive packing but the good news is the sessions are the assembly's over for the year so nothing new is going to be coming up but just a couple of points here on page 12 2023 assembly session score card that second check mark there are now 48 new K-12 education policies School local governments or child related lost 48 new ones that's a lot that's a lot just do that I'm not going to cover the biannual budget Mr Reese did such a great job a couple of weeks ago with us covering that I did a great job on that Matt so I'm not going to cover any of that it's all written down for you both Mr Angel and Mr Babcock on page 15 you'll be happy to see something there house enrolled Act 1005.
