retirement FICA Federal um total on that payroll would have been 130 616.91 were there any questions about any of the payrolls this time all right well we'll just move on to some prepays that we did for the month of April um there's really nothing unusual here that I recall did anyone have any questions about any of the prepays okay total prepaids for April 634.90 and then next in your package you're going to see the claims that are dated today May 22nd 2023 uh total on these would be a hundred and ninety thousand fifty two dollars and three cents did anyone have any questions about anything on the claims this month no okay if we're ready we'll just go ahead and move on to the fund report um your fund report as of the end of uh April 30th 2023 education fund balance 3 million 134 868.64 and operations fund total balance is if I can get my bifocal to line up here properly here we go 534 66.50 wow it's just all part of the people um if you want to go to the last page on page six total for all funds is six million 918 178 La next in your package you're going to see the bank to fund balance and you'll see that the grand total for all funds of the grand total for all banks those um uh uh balances match that's exactly what we're going to where we want to be did anyone have any questions about that the only question I have Matt I'm assuming it's a matter of timing is the uh 7923 fund sr3 cares that's a pretty big negative number sure yeah we actually had um just last month and I do reimbursements every single month on all of the grants but we had a substantial amount of money that was going out the door paid out of the Esser grant for furniture at the middle school so that's why that's pretty substantial and that reimbursement has already come back to us so you'll see where we'll be revoluted and that balance will not be nearly as high in the negative next time okay all right so next in your package you're going to see the fund transfer report once again you're going to see the transfers that I've made from One bank to another so it makes it look like those Bank transfers are way higher than they really are you've got the school lunch transfer from 8400 to 800 and then of course the education to Ops and then um uh on those many payrolls um the payroll person referenced the wrong bank so I had to do a transfer from one bank to the other so your total fund transfer for uh transfers for April was 763 25.40 .

the next slide you'll see a proposed timeline you can see our planning team a reconvened recently to prepare for the board presentation to you tonight and we know Renovations will be happening as you heard from Mr Smith and should this plan be approved we have a timeline to Market to families in 2026 and also begin the application process which means we would work on Staffing in the spring of 27 for an opening day of August 2027 with an ultimate all four grades in August of 2029 so some long-range planning for you why Craig Pratt we have a need within our community we have many families who seek a smaller environment particularly in that age group five through eight and our this programming would have an emphasis on African-American culture and these are points the smaller environment the African-American culture are often points used by private schools and Charter Schools who compete for our students and when you think about the the specialization of this program and the focus I want you to also think about what we do for our immersion students immersion students of all ethnicities come to learn about Hispanic culture within our emotion immersion programming and so this is another need and request we've had from our families how's it different it would be by choice just like immersion is by choice it would be a smaller School environment it would be an emphasis on African-American culture just like immersion is an emphasis on bilingualism and Hispanic culture there would be self-directed evidence of student learning Rhythm rhyme student performance and of course leadership development and now I'll ask Mr noder to go over the curriculum good evening Madam president members of the board Dr Smith Craig prep would be similar to our other schools in terms of having a rigorous curriculum and integrated curriculum however the focus would be primarily on African-American culture through the humanities so in in the humanities would be integrating our English language arts social studies culture language into one discipline and then the integration of steam so math science engineering art design integrated into one curriculum with elective offerings also primarily in music and physical education in addition to the Core Curriculum there would be other co-curricular or extracurricular opportunities available to students at Craig prep including Athletics particularly for sixth seventh and 8th graders academic competition teams robotics coding all of the um co-curricular stem activities that are available at our other schools also with the focus on philanthropy student government and student leadership so how would these 400 students be selected very similar to our immersion process we would host a window where we would advertise to our families and accept applications just like we do now for immersion at Forest Glen Skiles test and Sunnyside at the end of the window as long as we have spaces allotted for all the students who apply they'd be accepted and if not we would use the same process that we used for cap generating a wait list and then filling spots as we have them available so the exact same process that our community is familiar with and what would it take to staff a program such as correct prep year one with 200 students you can see in grades five through six we would be looking for staff members with Elementary licenses to staff the curriculum that Mr noderer just shared we'd also have related arts and supportive special education enl and other support services and some of those would be shared with LA so they might already be in place year two you can see in yellow we would look to add um not just five and six but also seventh grade and once you get to seventh grade the licensure for secondary teachers does differ from that of Elementary so it would be looking at Ela math science and social studies and also the addition of a counselor and year three when we would be up to our proposed goal of 400 students then we would be looking to add as you can see in yellow 8th grade and to address the building usage that would be needed for this proposal is Mr Smith [Music] thank you madam president members board Dr Smith in order to accommodate these programs we would move into a phase two renovation for Craig Academy and identifying Craig prep ten classroom diagnostic day treatment Three classroom plus offices laa leap adult education of course that would be to be determined and shared spaces the gym running track of course was being renovated this summer again some office nurses office cafeteria and kitchen would have to be added as well to the building so we present this proposal to you and we're happy to take any questions you might have start your engines thank you so I just want to clarify when you um I have a couple of clarifying questions and a couple of others when you're talking about home access is that um the same as homebound students no it is not so could you clarify what that is home access is an alternative that we have for students that uh for for disciplinary reasons maybe the traditional for our students you know 34 years 30 or 40 years ago some of those students would have been expelled and we are trying to find creative ways and alternative ways to work with our students to keep them attached to their school keep them earning their credits earning their diploma so the home access right now typically or for the most part is virtual and communication through canvas and communication through email to back and forth between teacher and students so a Home Access Center would allow us when appropriate to bring some students in or some face-to-face time from face-to-face instruction so how many total students would that be approximately at any one time okay and then would Transportation be provided we work on what we could do there it would be a little tricky with the time because four o'clock is during dismissal of secondary but we would work to provide what we can absolutely and then I know um it's exciting to think about adult education that is uh something that I am very passionate about and so and also thinking about um Craig prep what Community Partners have been identified to potentially support us in this work so for adult education we're doing our research right now learning from others that do this in other areas to see what what we can bring here and provide here Craig prep I don't know if you want to talk about those Partnerships that we discussed sure um Ms Don and with the adult Aid we have we're in communication with the state uh right now the adult ed programs on the north side of Indianapolis go through jail for light right so there is a major major void on the north side of Indianapolis we hope to provide that for Lawrence Township and I know it's completely aligned to our Equity goals that are in those in those providing Spanish speaking families the opportunity to learn English and so just if Indy Reads has not been an organization that has been um just approached they might be a really good asset for us to look into because I know that we have programming where I work with Indie reads and they've been a wonderful wonderful Community partner sure you want to go ahead and share what we currently have coming this fall we want to go ahead and share that so related to adult education and we actually this is our second go around with this program where we have a program where our teachers and faculty have the opportunity to learn Spanish or yes to learn Spanish and our families have the opportunity to learn English by having them work together and so we did this back in 2018-19 obviously through covid we weren't able to meet face to face but it was really really popular and many requests from both parents as well as faculty members to learn each other's languages have an opportunity to interact with each other and besides the language development the relationship development and the understanding that comes when you spend time in the evening with those from a different culture so we're really looking forward to that in the 23-24 school year as far as any other other Community Partners for Craig prep we already have a number of Community Partnerships that would have the capacity to be able to also help us in that regard with Craig prep so Center for leadership development for example we have mentoring programs that are already serving our students in other schools so I think that remains to be seen but we're certainly open to many possibilities and many of those would include Partnerships that we've already established and the curriculum do we know what curriculum you would be using if it's Afrocentric that curriculum process would go through a process just like we do for all of our other curricular adoptions but it certainly would be Afrocentric and then um possible to get a day in the life of what a student would look like from the time they arrive until the end of the day what that looks like as well as the costs so how is this going to impact what's the overall costs potentially associated with this and then how might that Impact Staffing especially at our elementary schools if we're going to be pulling fifth and sixth graders from elementary buildings from a scheduling point of view for the academic day we certainly will be able to outline what that would look like from a rival through dismissal and and possible extracurricular activities as well Miss Dunn from a budgetary standpoint we would look at this program if we're shifting students to move teachers initially we've done that before very very cryptically and very precise but if there are any additional budgetary issues we'd obviously have to come back to the board so that would be the goal is the shift staff if possible that's why you notice very carefully we we're going to phase the 5 8 Academy so we make sure we've got the Staffing piece precise process of Staffing would be very similar to what we do now when we look at projected numbers and immersion applications so we're very familiar with that process all right okay um we'll kind of touched on a little bit but um do we have any best practice models concerning because it's very rare that you hear of a I don't want to say a charter setup but that culturally inclusive environment and a Township is there a Best practice model for this that we have kind of looked at or is this something that we're being outliers in from an academic point of view both um there are models across the country for academies such as this and when we research this the first time that we brought it to the board there were site visits around the country in preparation one being in Louisville Kentucky but I also think we're an outlier in this work as well just like we're a leader with our Spanish Immersion program we would be a leader certainly in Indiana for a traditional public school to offer this type of opportunity to the community this makes my heart smile so much I I before I was on the board I remember going to this bush going to Dr Smith on my concerns as a parent and it's just certain things that I remember sending my son to class and having to inform the teacher on nonverbal cues and just certain things on how to best educate him because it was just differences and so I'm excited to see this that this is feeling something I think that this will help with discipline um because I don't go on a tangent Crystal I'm excited I'll just say that I'm excited to also see that um am I am I jumping the gun when I say that this would be a tool that would also be utilized to help lessen our achievement Gap when it comes to black and brown students that tends to be a nice little Gap there yeah and I think that any time that we're able to meet students where they are culturally linguistically there's always better achievement so those two are really tightly coupled thank you I could go on for on forever about all the benefits but if parent on the other side listening in I would want to know details well why just this school that's catered to um so I'm excited that we're doing the work to I'm just excited let me just leave that there thank you we'll miss Dunn asked um two of my questions so thank you and then um the one question I had was more of a historical question since I have younger kids who didn't get to experience the joy of Craig Middle School what what is the building what was the original building capacity how many students did this building have at one time we have a subject matter expert in the room the last principal is still alive and well he's sitting over there I am still alive I am Roger Smith can help out okay Troy Tell them so uh Craig Middle School at when it closed served sixth seventh and 8th graders and the total School population was around 1200 the building capacity is over 1500 um but sixth seventh and eighth graders 1200 students when it closed in 2010.

thank you you may all be seated at this time I would also like to recognize students who fall within the top 10 percent of our senior class in your program we've added a legend identifying those students who academically fall within the top 10 percent of the senior class Additionally you will notice that we have a number of seniors walking across the stage this this evening wearing medals and honor courts those wearing honor cords and medals are to be recognized for their dedication and the time spent on a program on our campus such as NHS Deca ROTC stuco and so on would you all please join me in a round of applause recognizing the dedication accomplishments of all of these students [Applause] this brings us to our first student speaker for the evening please join me in welcoming Mr Richard no [Applause] good evening my name is Richard Noe and I would like to dedicate this speech to the people Pleasers to the people who feel trapped by expectations the people like me from the time that we are young we are taught to always not disobey our parents to always trust their intuition because they know best but in doing so we sometimes be come so consumed with meeting expectations that we have neglected our own needs dreams and aspirations yes I have Triumph I persevered through the challenges that were calculus AP U.S history chemistry but then I asked myself why what was it all for most importantly who was it all for was it to make my parents proud myself others I was lost however I realized that even under these pressures and expectations they did not Define me or dictate my choices I did so class of 2023 my message is simple live for yourself live a life that you want not what others want as you walk the stage tonight and grab your diploma remember this moment is yours remember that your name is on your diploma not your teachers not your parents not anyone else's but yours no one can undermine the hard work dedication perseverance that got us here today we have endured Strife that is high school and moving forward we will persist we will continue to endure and we will challenge All Odds as we look to the future we must remember to live for ourselves we will face many challenges and obstacles we will be told what we can and cannot do and we will be judged by other people's standards but they connect they cannot dictate our choices only we can so do what makes you happy if you want to go into music and or art then do it ambitious to become a lawyer doctor engineer do it horse whisper though I wouldn't recommend it sure let us not be swayed by the opinions and expectations of others let us Forge our own paths and embrace a life that is uniquely our own because achievement has no name let us not be blindsided by validation and recognition but to take pride in the work we do congrats class of 2023 we did it thank you [Applause] I want to now like to introduce Mr Omar Camille [Applause] I could still remember April 27th so vividly me seated near the Lamplight at my desk thinking about AP Chemistry crouched over my keyboard as it began the first draft of this speech three days after it was due sorry Mr Barnes but more importantly I started thinking about these past four years really about time in the abstract time has always been strange that way carries you through these wonderful memories the ones your mind wanders to by habit when you're sitting on a weekend afternoon and yet it's the cold uncluding force that makes you stay up until midnight on May 5th still in the midst of your second paragraph I've come to realize this is my biggest flaw though I expect too much of time I expect I expect to patiently wait for me whenever being vocabulary and the trail again is before an AP US History exam I expected to hold me cleaning around the clock face when I'm waiting for Synergy to update after said apo's History exam and yes I expected to come to screeching halt when graduation practices a mere week off and I am yet to find anything profound to say here all of this is to say that time is a resource just as you put money in stocks or these parts on the assembly line it's something you consciously invest most of you in this audience probably don't need this lecture but I wish someone had given it to me I wish I made the effort to socialize more I wish I read more I wish I were a better leader I wish I didn't have to make this the subject of my speech I wish I could call these past four years more than a working title once we all get up from our seats in a few hours time and go on about our lives I hope you all consider how you're investing your time there's the obvious don't stay up late when you have an exam the next day commute early to an interview but also see what you're depriving yourself of is there an interest you stop sort of pursuing because you thought it was too hard is there a project you never thought to undertake because it seemed too tedious are you spending your time with the right people assess these decisions carefully because as our senior year has demonstrated time is much scarcer than you may think thank you thank you next I would like to introduce you to miss Natalie tamberstone [Applause] hello my name is Natalie tamburstwin I'm so grateful to be here to represent the greenway graduating class of 2023.

are active in the rotary youth Exchange program we're very grateful for joining us tonight to this afternoon also with us this afternoon is Mr Matt Belden Mr Belden is the assistant superintendent of distinction wearing a gold medallion I asked them to please stand as I call their names Kate Inman Parker samanda Tina Nguyen I would also like to acknowledge those students who are ranked students will be entering the military upon graduation would you please show your appreciation for these graduates as well at this time we will hear from our three members of the top one percent hello and welcome everyone my name is Kate Inman this moment has been my dream for at least four years if not longer but it still feels unsatisfying to be here it feels like I should have done more High School ending has brought up a lot of mixed feelings for me I put in multiple 16 hour days in a week pulled countless all-nighters took a total of 13 AP tests have an average daily cry count of about 2.66 cries per day probably closer to three by now and have spent the last four years feeling almost completely alone I've burned several important important bridges for the sake of achievement that wasn't okay but it was okay for me to learn from that it is okay for me to look at these failed friendships from the perspective that I was young and dumb and believe that people would only love me if I accomplished something it is okay to give myself Grace and it is still okay for me to find joy in achieving top one percent and more I gave up a lot to be here on this stage I didn't need to sacrifice my sanity my friends or my family my sleep or my livelihood but I did and I can't take that back I can say to all of you though that no dream or achievement is worth your identity or worth your mental and emotional stability I can tell you that the people you meet that make you feel safe that maybe make you feel loved for the first time in a while those are the people you need to fight to keep close I can say that hard work does pay off but there needs to be limits because you should always be your top priority because you love yourself put yourself and your healthy relationships before anything else simply because you love yourself that's no easy task I'm speaking from experience but I found that the relationships I've cultivated and the community I've formed around me at Moon Valley have been much more satisfying than my awarded successes I'm beyond grateful to the people that I've been lucky enough to spend time with for four years it's easy to feel completely alone especially when others place you on a pedestal but I don't have to isolate myself because I have wonderful people in my life that I assume like my personality I regret the way things ended with some of my close friends but I still adore every single person I got to know every relationship has been special and has helped to shape me into a better person and I hope that at least one person here can say the same thing about our relationship I would never wish to replace the teachers and staff that took the time to be a part of my life my teachers aren't paid nearly enough but they still go above and beyond in taking the time to help and nurture every student that they can that kind of patience and unprompted Care are things I desperately need in my life and I'm lucky to have found that in the faculty of Moon Valley it's hard to leave my home Moon Valley behind but I know I need to going to Oregon is something I've always wanted and I get to be sad about leaving even when I know that this is what I want It's upsetting to watch friendships dissipate before I've even left but I'm grateful that I ever had those people in my life to begin with thank you to everyone who put an effort into my life mental felices there are no words and for while there weren't I thought finishing High School is the hardest thing I do all year turns out writing this was harder greetings fellow seniors we did it you probably don't know me like I don't know many of you so hello my name is Parker and my pronouns are he him I could say it wasn't easy but I'm sure you've been hearing that or repeating that to yourself since March so I'll tell you it has been truly humbling and by that I mean it hasn't been humbling at all I'm half my success and would like to share that with you we made it through High School the Tartarus of well-adjusted adults covet certainly didn't make the experience any easier I look at the change and positive reception I've received on campus and I'm given a hopeful outlook on the future of equality our community is our first and foremost brick wall and it's the starting place of your own self-discovery I'm truly grateful for the changes that have been made the open mindedness open-mindedness that has been achieved that has allowed me to Branch out I hope all of our successors soon have an accepting future to feel as good as I do right now the experience of the past two years has changed with being the top one percent has meant for me for me this placing in the top one percent deal has always been planned out for me enter high schools good grades and to say hey might as well right I started my high school career a completely different person being the top one percent has become less about proving myself and more about actually wanting to succeed for myself I couldn't be prouder to be Parker in time for graduation but this isn't just about me I don't see my faces in all those seats I see you guys and you know why because you're graduating no one here is thinking about it first it's only our last and this this is a culmination of your last High School experience it's been a long time since I've experienced a real ending every show nowadays gets canceled and I can't remember the last time I sat down to read a book you should have pride in how far you've come and finished high school not everyone can say they've done it go on and shine bright like a diamond or whatever you'll make an impact on the goals on the world whether you see it or not your goals may be difficult to reach but the effort should be made even if it takes a few years to reach the heights you were hoping to rise to try the time will pass anyway and now and I say this lightly as I am very passionate about my future profession if you'll excuse me I'm gonna go throw away all my money learning how to draw a picture class of 2023.

this has to do with our involvement on the Redevelopment commissions may say that if they're looking for establishing a tiff fund in our our communities that represent it's including the condition that the governing body of each School Corporation affected by the program pass a resolution approving the program before the program may go into effect I know that's been a problem before we've sat on those boards but had really nothing to say that that's a big move that's a big move for us in Crown Point and anywhere else for that matter also like to point out on page 17. at the top house Act 1447. this requires school boards to establish a procedure for schools to prepare a catalog of Library materials and to post the catalog in each school's website now I know we already have policies for that I do not know Brooke maybe you know I I don't is that already posted on our websites okay so the who's ever going to be doing that's going to have a busy summer I think getting out all together no that's uh that's a freebie on page 18 .

and then I believe lastly we have the report on the bond issues Bond 2021 um total expenditures through March 2023 was 18 million 784 320 40. and we've got some expenditures that we had during the month of April so our total expenditures out of bond 2021 is 18 million 806 690 28 and then Bond 2022 total expenditures through the end of March 2023 is one million seventy thousand eight thirty seven oh nine our April expenditures bring our total expenditures through the end of April 2023 up to 1 million 731 328.09 and have any other questions I'd like to submit for approval okay I'll make a motion that we accept the consent agenda second can I have a second it's been second and all those in favor signify the saying aye aye opposed motion carry okay really quickly if we could since we uh just approved her this this evening we have our new Middle School principal uh Ms Selena Clements um she's currently uh principal Mill Creek West Elementary in the Mill Creek School Corporation and we are really excited to have her uh take over the middle school and continue to push the middle school and build on the great work that has taken place and to join our team so I don't know if you want to do the same thing [Applause] so I just want to say thank you I'm really excited to join um on the table to walk over and smell the new in the building and so that's really exciting as well and then carry on but thank you already started and then um you uh thank you for giving me this opportunity I'm excited to continue the Excellence that you guys are expecting and I'm building our students perfect so thank you thank you thank you very much and welcome aboard I'm certainly glad to have you next item is the assistant superintendent's report hello so I am very excited but I don't have to balance both positions for very much longer one more day yes one more day um so just some things that I've been working on um we have now received three pallets of materials for our new reading curriculum so we'll be going through that and checking to make sure we have everything and then dispersing to the teachers I know they're anxious to get that in their hands so they can start preparing for next school year um in addition to our K-5 reading training on Thursday our math 6th through ninth grade teachers will be getting training on their new curriculum so they have time over the summer to go through that and be prepared in August when the kids get here um last week I attended a workshop with our sixth grade social studies teacher they have Indiana has decided that for sixth grade second semester should all be Civics so they've added 23 new standards to sixth grade social studies so we had to remap um the other 40 some odd standards into first semester and map out what Civics looks like second semester um so that was a process he and I went through and it was great we were able to get that all finished and upcoming I and five teachers from middle school in high school will be attending the Fab Lab training in Chattanooga June 7th through the 9th so I'll be learning all about Fab Lab and what we need to do to make that into the vision that we see it so that's what I've been working on thank you next is the superintendent's report yeah so just a few a few brief things obviously I think it's been said a couple of times we have one more student today I think the students are eager and excited obviously we've had a lot of fun things um taking place to finish out the year um at each of our buildings um graduation will take place uh this Friday at 7 pm everyone's uh welcome to uh to attend we'll we'll utilize all those parking spots and uh navigate the construction for just this graduation and be back to normal for next year's graduation um obviously things are continue to move along with the building project if you drive past the school you can notice the shape of the building starting to take excuse me yeah the shape of the building started to take shape essentially so they're they're moving right along um at the at the high school we're close to actually taking back um half of the upstairs which coincides with giving up the other half over the summer so they can really push to work through and get as many of those as close to completion as possible for the start of next school year um shortly into the school year be able to take back um our cafeteria and our new kitchen while they continue to make progress on some of those other spaces the brand new science labs we expect to have those fully complete by the Saturday school year as well at both the high school and the middle school so Middle School construction should be completed before the end of the summer we'll start to see the gate arms being installed for the high school transfer lot we're moving away from the bungee Cable Systems to the little more secure gate arms just for for safety and then obviously there's just miscellaneous site work that will take place throughout the district and just general maintenance and repairs but overall things are moving really well and we're really excited about that um obviously we're still kind of trying to break down what took place um during this past legislative session um so obviously we know some new laws have been enacted but now we know the doe and the lawyers are really trying to break those apart to see uh the impacts for schools we have things such as the book list that will have to be posted and made public for parents to review we're kind of waiting on some guidance with that our staff has started to prepare those with those books are that we have in the classroom so that way they can be reviewed and seen by parents but we're still kind of waiting on all the exact specifics with that um to go along with that the big one is the um change in textbook rental or curriculum material fees and charges the governor obviously passed legislation to partially fund um that to where schools will no longer charge families fees for uh to access the curriculum again we're still kind of operating in the rears where we're waiting on some additional guidance from the Department of Education to see what exactly that entails but there'll be some changes moving into next school year which families will notice when they go to register with a kid so we'll share additional information um as we receive it and then uh just uh working on potentially looking at a potential change to the 2324 school calendar with the eclipse just talking to some other schools and superintendents to to see what they're doing I'm not doing anything this month but potentially or possibly bringing um bring the calendar back and asking for a change potentially this summer but those are just a few items that I wanted to share share about thank you next item is old business and there is none so we moved to anime new business approval request for 20 to 23 24 building handbooks so we had a first reading of the uh each of the building handbooks last month those are provided to you last month they're in your packet again this month and now we are seeking approval of those updated student handbooks so that we can get them off the printers uh in time for publication okay I need a motion someone say again hi there you guys a second yeah there's one uh correction on the high school Greencastle High School one it has Russell Harvey's name on there as being a school board member we just need to correct that to reflect Megan sure but with that change I would make a motion to accept Maiden in a second it was in favor signifies saying aye all right I opposed motion carrying Item B approval requester 2023-24 school psychologist intern Mrs Sullivan um I believe we actually had an intern this year as well um and so essentially we through her relationship with Indiana State uh we had the opportunity to have a another intern work with us and we are essentially seeking approval for that to take place this movement second all in favor signify saying aye aye opposed motion carry more help we can get the better item D approval request for permanent edition of the baseball and softball let's see I'm sorry I'm sorry approval requester 2023-24 staff handbook yep so just again as is customary uh year to year we've had our first reading and now this is the second reading on our staff handbooks uh there were no major changes or updates to those and essentially we are seeking approval of them at this time thank you now we're ready for you know we need approval but I make a motion we approve say again it's been moving second those in favor signifies saying I I post motion carried now we're ready for yep the the yes sir approval request for permanent edition of baseball and softball to Greencastle Middle School sports yep so as you might remember uh prior to the start of this school year we uh Mr Rector um and some coaches really explored uh adding Middle School baseball and softball while it was always our goal for them to become permanent Sports of Greencastle Middle School we kind of wanted to do it on a trial basis just making sure that the athletic fund could sustain those programs um and it not cause any harm to any of our other programs and overall uh things went really well this spring and the partnership with the city and allowing us to use some of their their facilities their diamonds we are now ready to make them permanent and so that's why we bring it before the board this month and Jeff is that going to be something where we are going to use the diamonds at the high school then for that are we going to continue to use with the city how's it going to considers the parks the ones in the Parks okay and they're on board with all those no problems cool okay I need a motion sounds like a great addition just moved in second those in favor second five was saying I I opposed ocean carries item e approval request for 100 fighting service proposal yeah yep so we've had the arrival of some new uh updated computers and so as such it's time to Surplus and recycle some of our older devices and Corey worked really hard uh to find to find a buyer for those devices and essentially we can get uh 26.50 a piece for them for a total amount of twenty three hundred and eighty five dollars um first Corey thank you for working so hard now if we could just buy them for that that'd be great wow yeah they don't hold their value after four or five years mm-hmm thanks great motion please someone it's been moved in second mode in favor signify the saying aye motion carry the next item is approval requests for donations and the first one is Lonnie lohorn deceased to Greencastle High School athletics in the amount of five thousand dollars Mr Gibney yep we'll actually take these all together and this next one is Walmart the Green Castle High School track and field in the amount of two thousand dollars learn when there's an open charitable trust to ghs students pursuing a career in trades nursing or paleontologists in the amount of one thousand Greencastle middle school PTO to 8th grade Holiday World field trip in the amount of Thirteen hundred dollars you know I need a motion to approve the donations second it's been moving second any questions motion carried thank you to everyone who donated another nine number nine other business they don't have any other business I'm sure uh Mr Rogers and his group and Jeff are working very hard to make sure that people are going to be able to get into Macan alley and get up to the top stairs how's that going it's going we have it set up like we did for uh Awards day so it'll be similar we won't have access to all of mcanally but we'll have some lower level restrooms available for those that need it and then of course the ones in the lobby in between Parker and Magna outside of that it'll be very similar to normal which is some minor adjustments due to construction well just one more year one more year and Jeff I'm not sure if it was brought to me around if I missed it how many more days of school [Laughter] thanks to all the staffs uh for another great year I've been and out of schools all year and it's it's been a great year with the construction and everything going on so it's been everybody's held their own they've kept their tempers down which could easily get out of control with all the all the construction and whatnot going on in the just the corruption of their days so congratulations to everyone and my kudos to everyone who's held it together for the year thank you very much right I also would like to thank those who have been involved especially in the construction thing when we were walking around different things throughout the days and so forth but the rewarding part down the road is it's going to be great so you guys thank you so much all of you that has been involved in education this year in Greencastle thank you very much the next item on the agenda is the adjournment I'll make a motion with a nicely run meeting Mr Dale and I'll second that with a congratulations to Dale for a finely ran meeting well thank you very much for my fellow people like I said it's been several years since I said in this seat for sure but thank you again I need a tournament that's been moving and sacrificed those in favor signify the saying I I impose motion carry thank all of you very much again thank you

okay thank you I feel like I need to go on a board tour of the basement I have never even seen the cafeteria I didn't realize all of that was down there wrestling room Roger there's a layer below the cafeteria I I think Roger before you say something we do need the board to understand regardless of the programs you see here we must put money back into this building because the last major Renovations of the building were BC Mr noderer when he was here so there are places in the building that are really ancient as the other two middle schools that need Renovations that correct Mr Smith that is correct yeah I'm all four covering up Mr nooder's initials that he carved in the wall of the bathroom somewhere and I I agree that's it's a great it's a great use of funds I'll show you his old office it is which is Roger's off is that correct where Roger Smith is uh well a couple of quick questions one do we have opportunity for expansion of this program or are we at capacity at 400 students I would say it's just like our immersion programming in that if we find we have significant wait list as we did previously with immersion we came up with a plan and brought it to you to increase access and Roger this building once we get it done we will have capacity we'll have room to add to this building without a without a doubt is that correct yep so an additional question how are we supporting those students who maybe have a desire to learn about African-American history and knowledge but maybe aren't part of this program but still have desire and influence sure so African-American history and culture is part of our Core Curriculum that all students would have access to but our Core Curriculum includes pieces of African-American culture white culture Hispanic culture where this would be more of an immersive type of program just like our Spanish Immersion program is but with the focus on African-American culture I'm thinking specifically about black history offerings things like things like that okay um questions um adult education as we're planning for adult education will that include child care do we expect that we consider that right now since we're in the exploratory stage we can consider anything board would you like we will do our best most of your adult ad programs do look at that Miss Mustard yeah yeah um but we we've got a lot of work sure and to put this together as well as state and federal grants are going to be out there Mr kuzak and I have been approached and I just want the board to know this by a community partner out there who wants to come into this area and do this and I think it's a great opportunity for us to be ahead of the game before someone else will try to come into Lawrence Township and put this program in place that we are offering child care for our English Spanish programs that we're offering in the fall we have lots of ELC teachers who may also benefit from being able to work after hours as well absolutely and we have we have um we have students in our Pathways that could be qualified as well um okay um another question um and this I think I think Dr Brown you basically answered this um I know we want to keep it small because that's the model but I was also hoping that this program could start to help to alleviate some of the overcrowding at our middle schools and I don't see this having any impact on that much so we would have students who would apply a form across the district and of course fifth and sixth grade would be at our elementaries and then seventh and eighth grade from our middle schools and then you know as we do right now we would look at how enrollment shifts and how can we best serve the needs of our community where do we need to put resources so that that's part of our normal process that's just at this time of year seeing after cap and the transfer process where our families want to be okay and then you already answered the questions about about staff funding now um can we go to slide 11.

I hope to take my few moments to reflect on one of the major lessons that I've learned through my experience here today I wanted to talk about community this is something that seems obvious on a day like today with all of your friends family and others gathered to celebrate this all-important milestone however I feel there is still a separation between individuals during our day-to-day lives many people including myself lack Community it we have a tendency to go to school or work do what is necessary and then go back to our comfortable homes and Families unfortunately this also means when individuals are struggling they feel they must struggle alone people without Community will not be successful Community creates strength Community is something you may or may not have experienced at Greenway this could have been in the form of friends you've gained and lost teachers who've helped you coaches who've yelled at you all of you have had one of these experiences at Greenway these are all examples of community without these experiences you would not have become a better friend or a better student or a better athlete this community grew you it made you stronger for many graduates going on to higher education or simply facing life in the next four years Community is going to be essential look for friends create relationships find mentors furthermore be that friend that supporter or that mentor to someone else the community you create will be your help and it will be your strength no one is truly successful on their own I certainly am not I implore you all to create a community wherever you go in life I wanted to close with a thank you to some of the members of my own community of course my many devoted teachers such as Mr Novo Miss candidate and my coach of four years Mr Aikman along with countless other amazing teachers thank you I would also like to thank my family and my best friend Nico who have been my greatest support they have helped me become who I am they are my community thank you all and congratulations to the class of 2023.

um and Mr Reese really I covered this last week too so I don't really need to go through that but it's about teacher uh what percentage of funds need to be spent on teacher um excuse me teacher uh compensation I'm sorry it does say though on that third bullet I'm on page 18 now on that third bullet requires the department to provide certain academic performance metrics to schools it requires each school to post the information on the school's website page I'm not aware of any metrics that have been posted there yet so I don't know Dr Terrell if you know of anything so what I'd like to say with all these that are coming through all of them have either a July 1 or later start date and what we're waiting on right now is the guidance from the doe which as Mr Reese can tell you we think it's going to happen and then it's pushed back another week and now it's push back another week and so we anticipate that we'll have that guidance sometime coming up in the next few weeks we hope at that point in time we'll begin to determine how we're going to move forward with that for instance with this point you're making there what are the metrics that they're looking at my guess is it'll probably align with the new dashboards that the state is putting together yeah I would assume so that's all I wanted to cover on that that's that's a lot to read but it is not boring reading so give it a give it a whirl thank you Mr Vassar um any other board business this evening I'd just like to point out I mentioned uh officer Noonan in place of Mr Coulson tonight but of course Denise Jansen is here also in the attendance um hiding in the corner so she's not on camera but didn't want to didn't want to think people that uh we did I acknowledge you correct right I do have two additional things this from a board of board business or underboard statements of appreciation board business okay go ahead uh one I mentioned last month about adding a moment of silence to our pledge of allegiance to be in line with what our schools are doing Monday through Friday I don't know if I need to actually put that in form of a motion to add that uh we'll we'll discuss that and find out and then I'm sure we can put that enforce starting next month yeah just I mean it's it's what our schools are required to do every day and I us being up here I think is a good example I think it's just it's at the will of the board so there you go so it depends on if the rest of you are okay with that if so we definitely can move in that direction I have no issue and would support that we will I will make sure I touch base with Diana before the next regular board meet okay thank you for that and then uh second drill the the new well not the new building we're tapped currently stands where do you call in that building now not not the administration Center but it's the education center education center um I'd like to make a motion that we enact the policy to name that school commemoratively according to our current policy and to put that forward so we can get that done in a timely manner okay um let's talk through and look at what that policy is and look at if we're going to do committee structure what's going to happen with that as well and I think what the solution there Tim would be is to maybe have that discussion as far as changing the policy itself prior to even doing that but all doing that if time allows in the next two months so the namings obviously before the building opens up yeah I would say maybe there's a need for two separate policies one for you know new schools and maybe one for ancillary buildings yeah like they don't necessarily need to follow the same right because part of the the issue before with the the new Taft was doing it in a timely manner I think if we get a look at the policy and the time frame here in the next 30 to 45 days this way if that policy is put in force we can come up with something that obviously the naming of the new building can be done prior to opening in August and that might be that might be a little um I'm searching for the right word quick to go through all the processes because it's not just simply taking one name now we've got to open it up and get input from the community as to if there are other names for consideration as well so this is it'll be a several month process um and that's where let's talk through that and get to what that needs to be I will talk to you on an individual basis this week Mr Vassar yeah make sure I got all your ideas and then we'll move forward with something yeah I have no name myself oh okay okay I have nothing but to open it back up to the public just to follow the policy and according to policy it's probably about a two-month process to go through everything so I'll I'll touch base with you later this week and we'll get the ball rolling on that okay thank you any other board business board statements of appreciation recognition Mr vassaring this evening I'd like to piggyback on what Brooke was saying about the parent involvement the number you you mentioned Brooke was outstanding and I've always been a believer that education is a it's like it's a three-legged stool uh you have the students the parents and the teachers and if one of those legs is missing it doesn't work very well so I applaud our parents who by and large engage in their child's education where I've seen many communities where that just doesn't happen uh in the in the position I'm in now outside of this so I just want to com compliment our parents on a job well done thank you Miss basin uh yes thank you so I just wanted to start by thanking the cabinet members a few weeks ago we had our our board retreat and the cabinet members who to my knowledge are here working all day long then stayed from 5 to 9 30 for the board retreat and so I just wanted to thank them for their time away from their families away from all the things they could be doing especially at such a busy time of year on Mr gianfermi's birthday no less which we didn't have cake for so I feel like we still owe you that but I just wanted to thank you guys for um for spending your time to make sure that we have all the information that we need and um I appreciate that and then just secondary but no in no particular order I do want to thank all the teachers it was awesome to see such a large showing tonight obviously with that purpose but even just having all of the end of year fun with all of my own children and kind of doing all the field trips and today we had candy 500 and just all of those events that I feel like it's a it's it's a crazy time of year in general for parents a lot of the teachers also have their own children and then they're going above and beyond just to make all of these end-of-year experiences so wonderful for for all of the kids all of the students so a huge shout out to them it's not easy this time of year I know from personal experience but just such a great way that they go above and beyond wrapping things up for our students so thank you so much to all the teachers thank you Mr babjac I'd like to say thanks to all the administrators that were involved with the hiring process of of this last group that we just approved there was my understanding that there was a lot of top talent both outside of the corporation and within and as somebody that hires people I could imagine that you thought that was a pretty good problem to have and so um I thank you for getting you know getting that mix right I heard a lot of good feedback from different folks that we approved tonight from within the community people that have reached out to me that just knew these people were part of the process and I'm sure they'll be thrilled at the the appointments that we made tonight so thank you for that you guys do all that work I appreciate it thank you Mr Smith yeah I'll go quick as well um first as as Heather had mentioned had an opportunity to go unified games and what what a cool event if you never had an opportunity to be there I recommend all the board members take some time and get over there if you can I know it's in the middle of the day or to our community but what a great showing of support and just a community feel between the administrators the teachers the the students and it's it's just a really touching thing so exciting and the event went off awesome I got there a little late but what a cool event to go to so I was glad to be a part of that I want to congratulate the track team I think it's that time of year they won sectional uh I think that's first time since I've been on board and maybe nine or ten years so that's that's a nice win for the for the track team okay so 17 years or since 2017.

perhaps and I think Mr noder you know where I'm going to go with this um we have we have an Afrocentric curriculum and we have steam so we have stem for all we have that embedded in all of our classes music is an elective music is integral if I'm not mistaken and if I am please somebody correct me but music is integral to the African-American experience the United States would not be the home of jazz would not be the home of so much of our music if we did not have that influence and I can see a curriculum that would incorporate music throughout our humanities throughout literature throughout history um and there are models for that will we be looking at incorporating music as part of steam incorporating music throughout all of our classes and in addition with one music teacher we have opportunities for vocal music and instrumental music at our middle schools I want to make sure we have those same opportunities um at this school so what are we thinking about about the music curriculum at this point so Rhythm and rhyme are Central cores to Afrocentric curriculum and so even learning how to read not that we would be doing that in this Academy but learning how to read has a rhythm and rhyme to it in an Afrocentric curriculum and so that certainly would be woven throughout all of the humanities and this team the music piece would be more of what you're talking about more of a concert type of of uh group that would come together around what the interests were of the students and the the specialty of the teacher so it would be Rhythm and rhyme and music and Cadence that is part of all the curriculum plus the opportunity for traditional performance groups like we have in our middle schools I'm thinking also about um music through the history of the United States absolutely and I'm thinking about you know how we incorporate do do we incorporate um you know Scott Joplin and others brought us syncopation you know there was there was no sin and sick of patient before that right and um that's really important in that time of History um Jazz through the you know through the through the um early part of the 20th century and into the into the 21st century uh so many important um I see that as just as important as the literature they'll be studying and integrated if there's a curriculum that incorporates that so that's something I will be looking for in the curriculum and and we will be too and that's why I answered before that this is a committee approach um and we'll need to look at models that are out there but some of it we may have to develop ourselves as well thank you so much for um let's see I think that I think that we've Among Us have asked all the questions that I have one more tiny one um good point about the music that's how we discover my daughter's learning style and was able to tap in to help her learn so yes ditto to that um do we know prospectively like how many of our I don't say Lawrence students but um prospective Lawrence students um attend Charters so that just to give a better visual need for this program can you answer that top of our head board members but we um Matt and Dan we'll get it out of our demographic study for you guys I I mean off top of our head maybe 500 kids total that we may have that within our boundaries we'll find out we'll give you exact numbers yeah we'll give it to you we'll find out yep thank you I do have another question yeah me too okay um the one thing that I am concerned about is when you have a smaller School environment um it looks like our students would not be able to take advantage of a world language which I think is extremely critical as well when we're talking about access so I would really like to explore the opportunity to be able to offer that and the other thing that and going back to music I think another piece of music that my daughter really was able to connect with so many of her peers and I was actually in Palm Springs last month partaking in a world drumming specifically African drumming um so I want us to think about music from all aspects especially coming from um just the I mean that is an ancient form of music and I think is so critical and then the other piece that I want to make sure we'd be remiss if we didn't talk about is I don't see anything about access to um High ability courses and things like making sure that we offer Algebra 1 to our students in the middle level so that they are prepared for high school so just want to make sure that I name that good question good points good points sure you can touch on that and really even with Lawrence Advanced with our high school kids yeah and the the vision would be that we would offer the same curricular opportunities um there may be some electives we're not able to offer um just because of the type of specialty teachers that it requires but in terms of advanced math that would definitely be a theme that would run through the entire curriculum beginning fifth grade through eighth grade that would culminate in algebra opportunities for both seventh and 8th graders one last question you probably don't have very many elementary students on home access I wouldn't imagine but don't have any don't have it okay all right all right okay okay very good um aboard our I I just I'm just thrilled I'm thrilled that this is coming to fruition this came to us before and we tabled it for a couple of reasons and um I think finding out that the Fort Bend reuse Authority will give us the land is uh turns out to be a great thing and the timing is great the timing is great now and when we talked about this before we felt that our popular student population was largely um Brown children brown and black children African-American children and that creating an Afrocentric School negated the benefit for the rest of the school population subsequently we've we've had our Equity work done and are following that very closely so I think that the timing is right now to make sure that all of our students have access and comfort um being who they are in their culture in this school system so thank you for all that work I have one other thing as you were talking about that it made me think about our Equity goals and in D4 of our Equity goals or Equity work talks about tracking data inclusive of racial identification for students referred to leap and so as we're thinking about this beautiful program that we want to add to this building we also know that we have leap and I would really love to find out what type of data we have as far as the racial identification of students that are being referred to that program um so that we hopefully can make some informed decisions about that as well thank you to the board Sean Bush we can provide that again thank you okay I'm writing I'm writing okay thank you very much for that excellent excellent report we look forward to all that's to come there um Matt miles I don't know if this is quite as exciting I'm sorry to say but very important so can you tell us about our proposed lunch fees for next year thank you madam president members of the board Dr Smith I would like to introduce and call Miss Rolanda Brown our director of Food Services to the podium and Roe would probably argue with that she probably thinks food service is extremely exciting it is important and um certainly Dr Smith and and I will say um you know it does bring me great pleasure to present you tonight uh the fact that our proposed lunch fees and food costs for next year the 23-24 school year would be maintained at the same price as they are currently and so that's very good news to present to you tonight due to Rose hard work and her team's hard work um these these costs and proposed fees are sort of a function of what the state will allow us to charge based on our food costs and our labor costs so later tonight we'll bring to you an opportunity to approve this but tonight it's just information at this time thank you and I will note that I know that our district is rejoining the community is it cies there's a few initials there but joining with other schools in the area for better prices and that would include some better prices for food Etc so thank you for for all of you do for our kids and how you feed them every single day lots and lots and lots and lots of food thank you and pizza okay all right so um Dr Brown and Mr kuznick the proposed adjustment to the count school year calendar this is kind of really exciting exciting yeah Lord's night Dr housebran and I bring to you a calendar recommendation for the solar eclipse of 2024.

we grew up waiting to finally be able to drive and have our own cars we grew up waiting to get a job so that we could do so we so that we could spend on whatever useless things that made us so happy we grew up without realizing our parents were growing up alongside us we Groove as our parents watched us grow hoping and wishing that we would be their babies forever we grew up so that our parents didn't need to watch over us anymore from walking into high school as strangers we're growing up together and walking out as friends we grew out of high school we made it and before this moment comes to an end I would like to say to my parents [Music] finally we said our goodbyes but opened up to new hellos In This Moment we can look back at our memories and say we made it congratulations class of tonight [Music] [Applause] thank you and at this time I would like to present board President Kennedy with special remarks to our senior class good afternoon Moon Valley High School class of 2023 it is really great to be here to celebrate with all of you your families and your friends before I address the graduates I first want to take this opportunity to thank those who have helped them get to this important day to the parents families and friends of today's graduates thank you for your support your assistance your guidance and maybe most of all your patience during these high school years and I would also like to extend a huge thank you to The Faculty staff and administration of Moon Valley High School it is due in no small part to your dedication and your support that these students are well on their way to being productive well-educated and active members of our community it's been a long time since I graduated from this very school and sat where you are except it was a really hot football field yet I still remember that feeling on graduation day the feeling of accomplishment the feeling of Freedom the feeling that I could do anything that I knew everything and that the life plan that I had locked away in my head was absolutely perfect I've learned a few things since that day that I want to share with you most importantly know that life does not always go according to plan being adaptable is an essential skill and it is so important to utilize the critical thinking skills that I hope you have learned over the past four years now I'm sure that people have already been telling you to quote find your passion but here's the thing you guys already know in your hearts what your passion is it's what you spend your time doing it's how you choose to spend your money find a way to turn that passion into your work but also realize that over time your passions may change or evolve and you need to be a debt you need to be able to adapt with them make the time to know yourself to really really know yourself what makes you wake up in the morning just raring to go what are your personal set of standards what makes your stomach churn and what makes you grind your teeth what defines you separately from what anyone else thinks of or about you knowing yourself will help guide you when unexpected events both good and bad plant themselves on your path find the courage to fight with all your heart for those things that are just and right fight to make the world a better place for all of us you must be ready for my generation to constantly tell you everything that can't be done things like getting the money out of politics ending world hunger lowering the world's carbon emissions or ending racial tensions and my generation knows those can't things can't be done right after all we're the ones who haven't done them but I have every confidence that you guys are going to succeed where my generation failed also today it's a really popular Pastime and maybe it always has been to blame politicians for everything that's wrong in the world but here's the truth politicians are duly elected by the people that's why it is so important for you to be active in your community and to get to know your neighbors here or wherever you end up the founding fathers put the future of our Republic into our hands and the system will only work properly properly if all of us are active involved and if we vote I also challenge you to never stop learning whatever path you choose wherever your next adventure takes you whether it's to a university a community college a technical school the military or some other path learn all you can every day because knowledge is power I have been lucky enough to visit your classrooms and I've talked with some of you and I've talked with your teachers who know you better than I do and I'll tell you this you guys give me so much hope so on behalf of the entire governing board I want to congratulate you I want to thank you for your extraordinary efforts over the last few years some of them have been very trying whatever decisions you make whatever path you choose we wish for all of you much success a lot of happiness and a really bright future congratulations [Applause] so I could start my speech the ordinary way welcome friends and family but if you guys know anything about me you know I'm nowhere near an ordinary so I'm going to welcome you all here with a nice big lezza I'm NASA cinecott and I have had the honor of being your handsome funny charismatic caring spontaneous and strong senior class president the list goes on longer but we are short on time enough about me today today is a celebration of all of us I hope we can all look back at where we were freshman year and say we've made growth regardless of how large or minimal after today is done we won't have high school teachers to complain about life too to ask for advice or to simply be comforted by let's please give a round of applause for our teachers who got us where we are today [Applause] I sincerely wish for everyone sitting among me today to achieve their goals as we move on from high school I want us not to speak of our goals as hopes and dreams but to speak of them as facts please keep what I'm saying in your thoughts as we start the adventure of life itself finally I would like to announce our senior class gift to Moon Valley High School the class of 2023 would like to give the school a Newmar keyboard for our gymnasium thank you for your time and I hope everyone enjoys the remainder of your ceremony [Applause] please if I could now bring your attention to the screen where we will watch A Farewell video created by our film and TV class I'm in my mom's car broom broom get out my car all right [Music] nice you have to wait so long [Music] all right [Music] it'd be nice [Music] thank you [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] Kennedy please join me at the podium it is my pleasure as principal of Moon Valley High School to certify that these students have met the requirements for graduation as set forth by the state of Arizona and the Glendale Union thank you and may your Journeys be filled with gratitude and success [Applause] Save The Best For Last but you know this truly feels surreal after having spent 12 years alongside of y'all we're finally graduating except for the simple fact that I've only spent nine months in this wonderful State of Arizona you see I moved here right before senior year and so some of y'all may be hearing about me for the very first time although perhaps you saw me in the hallways I mean I kinda stick out so allow me to introduce myself manala jazz or to most I'm that kid in class who always raises their hand and asks an absurd question before receiving that iconic and exasperated teacher's eye another question Mana I know I know it's probably the only reason I'm even up here and that's why I'm telling you all about it as we head off into college or even the military I encourage you all to ask more questions although you probably don't want to ask a high-ranking military officer and absurd one I doubt that would end very well perhaps you should ask a few for example in Psychology we learned that the amount of sleep one needs is based on genetics and so my favorite question that stumped my psych teacher was that if sleep is based on genetics is our generation barely sleeping going to help future Generations I know it sounds a bit odd but essentially what I'm saying is that parents let your kids stay up till three in the morning to finish assignments for the future but yeah you're probably thinking that Mano I have no intent of asking absurd sciency questions so instead to ask simple ones like is this assignment due at 11 59 or tomorrow morning shout out to miss Boykin for those 9 A.M deadlines Miss Miller on the other hand I'm kidding definitely kidding but in all seriousness in a society where we're often awarded for answering things correctly instead of asking questions it seems as though we fail to venture into new ideas and even attempt understanding so as we leave a traditional educational environment I encourage you all to ask more questions and stay up till three in the morning before you fall asleep for science thank you [Applause] congratulations to the graduating class of 2023.
