no harm but there was a foul in the game Hannah Taft down there on the on the right hand side morno riding number 17. she's still going and another very nice player Thompson here we go player there the more knows got it she's running down the left-hand side it's gonna be tough to fly yeah yeah and probably not over a long distance maybe a shorter one you're going to but not when you get into the into the 40 40 meter range great pass great look you know they're being really creative Around the Net and how they're getting these shots off I think it was Calabrese yes it was very nice yeah really nice Eastlawn metal getting a lot of people on the scoring board here tonight too I know they're up 9-1 with 10 minutes remaining but a lot of people getting on the scoreboard to see you know and again look how quickly that transpired right it once they got the ball Meghan Morneau was gone there was nothing they could do about it and they're back on their heels and and you know they're they're definitely playing better they're you know getting the ball and and using some time and getting some shots but but um they're gonna have to do that and just again another great light by Kenna Marina to get possession and tap it to Eddie Jordan and again you're back to the defense already looking very much yeah and shooting file there so yeah that was you know that's what Megan Morrow didn't do before was put the stick up like you're gonna shoot when there would have been a shooting space violation looks to me here like actually she might pass this to Mourinho yeah she's wide open that's for sure now maybe change your mind now that she's covered we'll see I'd like to see her wind up and let this one fly uh she's gonna either run it in or pass it for sure yeah okay good save can't go in the can't go can't go in that area so once it's in that once it's around the goalies crease for those of you listening at home you might be wondering why you know why that happened once the ball is on the ground or in that goalies crease that is the goalies protected space and that protected space is like a cylinder actually it goes actually goes all the way up as well so if a player reaches their stick in or puts their foot in there it's going to be called and um you know you're gonna have to move on from here here we go again there's a really nice intercept by Bridget dodging here dodging here dodging there another shooting space I heard you know the Jukes and the ins and outs are really you know they're really tough and then and just creates a lot of those shooting space vowels yeah it looks like this one I'm not sure what she's gonna do she doesn't look like a wind-up she's gonna run it in again and I think maybe she's practicing our run-ins we'll see nope [Applause] no put on put on the Gap put on the gaslighter went off stick side and fired it into the hole so goal Megan Morneau 10-1 8 minutes and nine seconds remaining [Applause] that's just you know uh obviously when you've got players in front of you that makes it more challenging but but her shot is just so so strong that um you know goalies perhaps need to be forgiven for not being able to catch up to that yeah the goalie to her credit you know she saved the last one on The Bouncer and then you know that's a bit they've basically how eight meters work they look easy on TV yeah when you're all watching you you think they're free throws but even the best yep the best colleges the best players in college only score on that eight meter about 50 percent of the time yeah it's surprising because you think it's it's basically an automatic but it's not that was just absolutely beautiful how she drew the defense there and then Calabrese just stayed and everybody came to her and dropped it off for an easy goal yeah and you know what I I I don't think you can put many of these on the goalie you know the defense is just not there now these are one on these are one-on-one opportunities Addie Jordan to meanna Calabrese they're a really like you said a great play Addie Jordan drew the attention of at least two Defenders but in particular the one that was supposed to be covering Calabrese to try to double team Jordan she did the right thing she hit the open player and the open player put it in the back of the net so good job and again interesting patients from Calabrese you know that she made a fake and the goalie reacted and then she knew she sort of had her with it with another just drop it in kind of shot so I think the smart the Spartans are playing very smart tonight um you know they're not just playing but they're also there's a real sort of thinking that's going on here with them good defense by Holliston there yeah they're pressured Ball but look I mean look at this ball movement oh and Jordan had her sister her sister's gonna be mad at her there sister was wide open down there but uh just missed her but she's gonna get back to the 12 she's going to pass this one out passes it over to morno morno moving dodging coming middle coming middle looking for an open player comes back left hand and gonna get a shooting space on number one there not sure what she's gonna do whether she's gonna try to fire another one or whether she's going to run it in but we'll see I'm gonna go with fire another one and I was wrong but okay you saw but again you know I don't you know when you see these eight meters you usually see a collapsing down and I'm just not seeing it the way that you know some other opponents have done that with them yeah it looks to me like you know Holliston you know one thing that I noticed and I talked to you a little bit about before tonight's competition and I'm taking a look for the first time at the Holliston roster is their young team yeah they really are a young team they don't have a lot they don't have a lot of seniors and so you know I mean looking at looking at the defense they've got you know they have three three seniors yeah they have three seniors on their whole roster I mean Eastlawn Meadow only has one so you know they're in that terms are evenly matched but how since a young team and so you know they've got some time to develop this is the next year I'm sure they're going to be you know even better than they are that even better than they are this year and um you know their defense is just gonna have to come along but it's little things like that you know the running it in on the a meter um that can make can make all the difference you know you can stop a goal you can stop you know something from happening right and we've got a running clock now with the score 12-1 um So that obviously again works against Holliston but they are getting some good cuts um and they're just gonna have to convert some of that to stay and stay in this yeah I mean they got a pretty good they got a good motion motion offense here you know they're they're moving the ball around they're you know making um yeah kind of bad play it's gonna put I think it's gonna be a put somebody on the 12 so they're not going to have a you know an opportunity to score they're gonna have to pass out of it yeah Caitlin queeley with the 12 meter here and passes out of it and a Taft chasing it down one of our top Defenders Hannah Taft very aggressive Defender very technically technically proficient Defender here comes a ground ball you got Weiss chasing it down keeps it in flips it up nice oh oh good idea there she's getting her bodied kind of out of out of bounds we'll see what happens there I guess maybe you should save it over yeah maybe just a little stepped out looked like she might have been pushed out but given the score you can understand in a 50 50 it's going to go to the to the opposing team had some nice breakups in the back there where they're trying to you know trying to work it around and she's intercepted a couple of them yeah look at that intense defense by Taft when she's in there yeah testing all challenging behind the goal Hannah Taft back there again Megan Morneau right right on the ball number three see number 24 kind of open there's kind of lingering over there in the background oh wow right there great playback Grace Howard great play by Grace Howard she gets it up it's all oh a little bit of a drop pass good play by Howard dropped there by by Addie Jordan she just was probably you know so excited wide open was going to take a rundown and just didn't look it into the stick but that's fine yeah no worries there hack gets it in the offensive zone gonna wait here number 40 has it get her Sarah Queenie calling red Here Comes number three is open oh that was so close there by Grace Howard she was about a millisecond from not being called for a shooting space violation she's got her eight meter here yes if they can convert yeah that's a really good shot right there really good shot at the goalie's feet snuck it in good eight meter they get on the board Islam Meadow still still up 10.
it's my honor to be here today and primarily I'm here representing the chapter and on behalf of chapter President Sharon Fontaine she is not able to make it today but she sends her best regards and of course our sincere congratulations to all those classified employees that uh are uh retiring and we wish them a wonderful fantastic retirement we also want to extend our congratulations to all the certificated uh bargaining unit members that are retiring congratulations President uh of the bargain area bargaining unit and to all those uh in your unit that are that are being honored today and we just can't say enough to to you know say how much we appreciate all of our classified Heroes and certificate Heroes for all their years of service and dedication and you'll never be forgotten for everything you've done by your you know bargaining unit brothers and sisters and by the the board and the superintendent and certainly most importantly you'll never be forgotten by the the students whose lives you've impact didn't change forever so thank you all thank you thank you Robin thank you okay I have 4.03 Alum Rock Educators Association honestly I just want to thank you all for this evening for this day for this last 33 plus two more years I actually started as a as a substitute and then attempt and it was when I got like my temporary contract ended and I didn't know I was on a temporary contract that I got involved in the union that was 33 years ago anyway um you know it's with a lot of mixed feelings that I'm decided this was time but I have to say today I was over in Sanders classroom for a little bit and um Mr Pedro the custodian over at Chavez who I dearly love said you know you're you're just walking off the field and it's like I thought wow that is a great way to look at it especially for those of you that know how much I love baseball it's like I can I can smile at that I mean especially considering what the alternative could be I'd rather be walking off the field I'd rather be walking off the field with a contract settled but rather obviously that didn't happen yesterday we tried with mediation I would rather have it settled for the best on behalf of our our teachers um to the best that it could be rather than just tied up for me to say goodbye to that makes any sense um I I have concerns moving forward and I I mean you know how I feel about Alum Rock um I truly hope that some of those concerns that I've expressed are taken to heart and that you realize what hard-working dedicated passionate teachers are in this district and the students that we serve how they deserve the very best and to get the very best we need to offer the very best teachers a good contract so moving forward I I as you know I will be stepping aside and I'm probably off the clock in my email accounts probably already been deactivated but um it's it's hard to let go and I will be staying totally involved and connected with um hopefully many of you and of course with Sandra um so while I made these slowly walking off the field I do have total confidence and Trust in who is who will be taking over so for those of you that may not know Sandra Rivera and I have worked together as President and Vice President we've been a team for the last 13 years and honestly it's like I couldn't have done it without Sandra and I hope that Sandra finds a Sandra to take her place so with that good luck and thank you everybody so with that we I like to give you a warm welcome Sandra to your first at-bat and there's no pitch clock that's read this with tears in my eyes Okay Dr Bauer born esteemed colleagues Alum Rock families and friends I stand before you tonight following in the footsteps of my mentor colleague friend and pseudo mom it is with great pride and tremendous honor that I get to represent the educators of Alum Rock as the new president over the last 13 years my partner and leader has shown me what it looks like to lead with Grace confidence and style Although our roads between the district and area have not always been straight we've had detours and had to work together to fill in many potholes but our goals have always aligned in the end arusd families and friend of students is where the heart of both sides lie as I embark on this new journey I am hopeful for the future of our district our goal is to have everyone succeed District staff Educators classified teamsters and Families I hope we can come together to work on issues that arise I am hopeful that creative and innovative ideas and the ways of thinking outside the box come from both sides we need solution-based ideas we need teamwork we need flexibility and creativity on all levels not just on the Educators in our Educators classrooms as my colleagues and I end our 22-23 school year it is very disheartening that we are not able to celebrate a settled contract with only three articles being discussed it is frustrating that we've had to play a cat and mouse game to get to where we are now we are seeing more and more Administration jobs being created and filled while our classrooms are still without teachers we have seen many colleagues in both area and CSEA leave this year due to the lack of professionalism that is being set forth because we're unable to reach a fair and just contract as summer has come and school is out my colleagues and I have wrapped up another year in the books and while some may say I know many will leave because they are being offered different compensation in neighboring districts please help stop this endless cycle please help break the this is the way things are done in Alum Rock mentality I'll be out of town for a few weeks celebrating my youngest son's graduation from high school and turning 18.
I'm looking right here he's 23. right there a3d completion rate measuring and Reporting results so what I what I believe in Dr Hernandez correct me wrong either Mr kimono this the lcap is a three-year process and when goals when we began in year one we're in year two right now when we get in year one we set a goal and it appears right we've accomplished our goal in year two but we still have your three so the goal in year three is for us to actually do better than now we did in year two but when we set the goal in 2020 it was with the goal of going to 55 when we were 52.8 we've surpassed so we have already surpassed our desired outcome and so next year our goal would be to surpass what we did this year and then and then the following year we begin a new three-year cycle with our lcap okay so it's not it's not a rolling cycle every year we're adding a area when you get through the three then you start another three you start another three cycle yes okay so in other words right okay so these goals in other words the desired outcome it was established three years ago yeah uh this is year two so last year we created the goals for the three the end of the third year so now we're in year two of our three year cycle next year will be in the third year of our cycle okay and then the following year we start the process all over again it's it's done in your it's done in three years every three years well that's what I mean yeah the 21 was established for now that was the year you established the goals right and then so okay yes it's been a couple of years ago that that was yes right okay so we did a good job we actually exceeded what we're feeding our estimate okay thank you um sorry thank you thank you thank you for this Paulina um I'm just looking at the um on page 27 which is uh student completing dual enrollment courses um obviously because of covid we drop substantially I'm looking at the um specifically the Fullerton College went from 888 550 down to 411 have a goal of a thousand how are we going to make that jump and try to achieve or get to our goal of a thousand that's a heck of a jump from 4 11 up to a thousand so what's the plan to be able to in both not just Fullerton but Cyprus also yeah so so I'm gonna bring it miss being because she works closely with our collaborative Partners especially at Fullerton College and Cypress College but the pandemic absolutely had an impact and the board may recall um we had way more success I think with Cypress College because there was a different mindset with a lot of the staff and the colleagues that we worked with at Cypress College where there was a way more flexible mindset in working with high school students through a college course whereas Fullerton College was there was a little bit more resistance that students aren't ready so that impacted the number of opportunities that our students have fluid in college got you may recall I think prior to the pandemic we had students come during public comments to say I have siblings on the West Side who are working with Cyprus can we work with Cyprus because they were being boxed out at some of our East Side schools so we've been putting a lot of tension on Fullerton and they do have a new president who seems to be really aligned and in support Dr levo of making this shift so that was part of the challenge with Fullerton College but I'm gonna have this being talked a little bit more about the Dual women in our plans so we've just we've been really focusing on our embeditor during the school day dual enrollment and so over the last couple of years we've been adding coursework at each grade level so each high school has gotten to choose we have a couple of different models that we that we utilize and each high school has gotten to choose the model that they feel is best for their campus and I'm proud to say that we are now every single one of our high schools has embedded dual enrollment whereas the data from the data that you're looking at we didn't have it in every high school with Fullerton College and so um so that's one piece and so we're continuing to grow that and then we're continuing to grow our after school opportunities specifically around the CT Pathways and the extension of our own Pathways so we've added courses in drone piloting we've added real estate course at Anaheim high school and so on and so on and then like Dr Fried mentioned with the change in leadership at Fullerton College a more significant investment is being made into dual enrollment whereas Cypress colleges had their own dual enrollment team Fullerton didn't have that that and now they're making that investment to have a team to support our students in enrollment and matriculation and and staying in the courses and having success and so we would expect that over the next couple of years we'll really see those numbers grow and the success rate to be much higher so for a dual enrollment course what whatever that course is uh are they both at both call it will they be at both colleges so could and I'm high be taking dual enrollment either at Fullerton or Cyprus and it's their choice or so the way that it works with the colleges is that they have areas that they service and So within their rules we have to service particular high schools with a particular College okay um but to expand on that where they so like for example Magnolia High School is a Fullerton I'm sorry a Cypress College school but because of the Mac we have Horticulture that we're offering through Fullerton College because Cyprus doesn't have it so when one of the colleges doesn't have what we need then they give permission for the other campus to service that specific class glad to hear thank you for presidential if I may um that I think is an important point to make and I know I talked to trustee Guerrero about this I want to emphasize the importance of the integrator embedded dual enrollment when we talk about the local indicators in Access if you're an athlete or if you are part of a family where you have to go home after school and help support your younger siblings or maybe you have to go get a job to support bringing food to the table at home you can't access dual enrollment if it's only after school I'm sad to say where my son goes to school in his district he's an athlete and he has not been able to access dual enrollment so I have to have him take dual enrollment opportunities in the summer when he should be off but he doesn't get that opportunity because they don't serve their athletes or their students who have those other situations so I'm really proud that we do it during the school day and yes sometimes we receive pushback from colleagues or teachers because they feel like well now they're not taking my AP course but the reality is there's significant research when students take dual enrollment courses and the impact on them pursuing higher education because they're taught by a university level Professor not that our AP teachers they're amazing but the students still sometimes see them as a high school teacher they're taught by University or college level professors and that is a significant impact to our students so that access I want to stress how important that is that we have students who can do their sports or help their families and still have access to a dual element of course where other districts you don't see that it's an after-school program that's good I'm glad kudos to our district for that a question I'm back on the El Capa education partner engage engagement piece the students parents staff community members the numbers that we have is 553 how does that compare to pre last year so overall I think we were high I think it was well there are differences in groups I think but I think over students the student numbers are up the parent numbers are a little different the pair numbers were down a little yeah do we know why the parent staff was way up do we know why the parent that's it got me that it was kind of low yeah it could be various reasons I know um coming back from a pandemic many of our parents are re-entering the workforce but also we have done a good job at live streaming our lcap process our ambassadors once again did an amazing job with the Highlight so we're offering this process where they can participate or engage and and see and keep informed virtually but there could be many factors but we do hope to continue to increase our parent engagement in person okay thank own reflection as an ed staff that was one of the areas that we talked about is we needed to we don't necessarily know all the reasons as to why it went down but we know we need to do a better job of that Outreach and making sure that we have more parents uh participate in our process because their voice matters and that's Central to our community school approach that they we want to be part of our decision making body okay I just have to make a comment I know our numbers are significantly higher than other districts right overall right but still our standards right yes and I do have a question here but I and um I wanted to wait until the others were but when we okay when Roxanna talked about the focus groups and the priorities one of my questions was Priority One the big you know it wants lower class sizes now this is a this is problematic okay but this is the priority are we doing this in the special ed classes are we you know because um this is something that was a contractual thing we had but then we you know that ended so when they're wanting this I thought are we doing it in special ed special needs classes or you know if that's one area we can do it in at least so I I know Amy Maya here is here but one of the things we've been moving towards the is the special academic instruction or Sai model and as a result our district has actually hired more special teachers to help reduce the class size so when our students with disabilities are being mainstreamed and generate classes the numbers are lower they are lower that's of course the Target and the goal um and that and that's what we've added I think it was 10 to 15 teachers myself I know we have increased a large number of special ed and that's why I'm asking because overall we didn't lower it again this year but we have hired a lot more teachers and and you know and retained a lot of our teachers and remember too there is a correlation between embedded dual enrollment courses and you know in affecting class size right because if you bring those College professors in then that's going to lower class like ROP right yeah right oh um and then of course the counselors and such and and I know we've increased those so that's all good um I had one other question about um the full-time Mathematics Curriculum uh specialist in other words when did we hire that full-time so math that that's we had Julie speicherman so I don't I don't know when she begins before I was in the division when we hired the full it says we you know one of the in okay I don't know what page now it's Katie Childers but it's Katie Childers now but previously was Julie speicherman okay but we had a curriculum math specialist but it said we were going to hire a full-time massive curriculum specialist this new one this year Katie's new but but the position's not new no the position's not new but it was it was from within yeah but it was yes it was always full time so this said we're hiring huh we've had a math specialist for probably two decades oh I know but what I'm saying is that it mentioned a new full-time math specialist oh you know you know thank you thank you so think that that's right thinking so Jamaica when Julie first retired we didn't have someone who was interested in the position so you may recall when Amy was overseeing the math as a director I was at that time she was a coordinator we didn't have the curriculum sessions Amy did that as a coordinator slash curriculum specialist to support our math folks and then the following year we were able to build capacity and get a math teacher to be interested and that was Katie so so that year of of that lap year or Gap year was when Amy served it up okay okay because here it is it says a full-time Mathematics Curriculum specialist was hired at the start of 22-23 year to focus solely on improving mathematics instruction that's Katie this year okay that's Katie Katie Childers she's a math teacher at Louisa High School okay math teacher yep okay and okay we have all these different um Pathways now we ever does every one of our high schools have a pathway now yes they all have an exclusive pathway and they have additional Pathways as well okay exclusive is the one that's most complete in terms of the course sequence it may be exclusive because it's the only one in our district like there's only one artificial intelligence pathway so that's exclusive and it's also the most comprehensive in terms of the dual enrollment offerings and other things to really build it out so it's a really comprehensive pathway uh looking at all different aspects of of educating our child or children because right now I mean I'm I don't know which one is the Visual and Performing Arts who has that as their major pathway so all of our schools have visual Improvement art Pathways right so as you may recall lewer high school and ball initially began their pathway program as a Visual and Performing Arts pathway okay the hard part especially in lieu of the declining enrollment area that we're in every school has band and choir and drama programs so they weren't like if I wanted to be an artificial intelligence pathway I know I'm going to put in to go to Kennedy but I'm not going to put in to go to the where if they have a band program because I can go to Savannah or okay this was what I was yeah but you may recall we there was a charter school that was trying to approach on the ball lower era that was focused on Visual and Performing Arts so strategically we had that pathway there so kids knew that they could stay there for that pathway because their vaffa programs at those schools are very strong but they have now shifted where the exclusive pathway at luera is now the droning pathway the drones so all of our schools have Visual and programs okay well that's what I thought I said I didn't think there was any one just one okay so this is just some of our areas it's not just one at each high school so correct and like Law And Justice that you know that's at a couple different schools correct okay all right that was that was one of my questions and then um okay the other ones I answered okay okay any more questions thank you so much for your presentation so much for your time this is a lot of work and I want to say thank you to those who worked on it [Applause] so moving on uh 6.2 we open a public hearing local control and accountability plan and annual as a result the clock continues to run in High School lacrosse for those listening as we know Josh different than College actually not different than college lacrosse even in college lacrosse if you one team gets ahead by 10 goals no matter what happens as long as you remain 10 goals ahead the clock continues to run throughout the game so it's like a double disadvantage for any team that's down makes it a challenge to come back right I think I'll ever Institute a shot clock in high school like they do in college or well you know I thought I actually thought about this on the way over to this particular game I hadn't given that a thought in a long time but I one thing that occurred to me thinking about holliston's win last game I was wondering how they won by one goal and I was under maybe the missing misimpression just because I got was completely guessing that they were up by one goal and then you know if a team if there's five minutes left on the clock you can literally hold the ball and the other team has to get it from you so they're just gonna get completely exhausted trying to get the ball from you and it's easy at the high school easier at the high school level I think to just keep the possession so one thing that I thought that should be implemented is a shot clock only in the last five minutes of the game so that no team can do that you have a shot clock like a 90-second shot clock where if you don't shoot it just like college if you don't take a shot on goal within nine we had a little stick check there that was going on with number three uh within with within 90 within 90 seconds uh possession turns over so that no team can do that I think that would I certainly think that would make it you know more interesting and if you're down a goal in that stage you know that that seems pretty reasonable there was a stick Tech Challenge yeah um that happens every once in a while you'll see that stick check challenge it did happen and it was determined to be legit legal yep so it rarely happens but it did happen here with a game up 12 to 2.

I'm looking forward when the first graduating class of the dual immersion Vietnamese English students do that and and they probably Jocelyn I'm gonna be joining you somewhere in Tahoe I believe you we're gonna uh but I'll come back by the time that happens uh and the other thing that I wanted to share with you board is that next week we're going to be having a management retreat at the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles and that's just so that we reset ourselves uh trusty Flores Shelton you mentioned about being very deliberate you know with the with our values and how we um address systemic racism of which all of us in some way shape or form have been part of that or recipients of that right um speaking as an English learner low socioeconomic Latina um when I got to this country I totally understand that um and I'm looking forward to um very very very different 23 24 school year however um despite all the twists in this year's Road I want to thank each and every one of you and trustee Chavez I'll let her know as well for the amazing support you have given me as a superintendent because this was quite a challenging year I also want to thank all the staff all the parents all the kids Loretta Tanner for every single moment that when when things got really rough really difficult uh I got a little text saying we're praying for you I got a little email saying a little joke and that is just a gift from Heaven to me so I want to thank everybody Alum Rock my seven thousand 385 students a thousand and two hundred staff members countless parents and stakeholders that I hold dear to my heart and my fabulous board thank you so much for this year thank you uh Communications and comments by members of the born so uh anyone would like to start first I'll go okay vice president Herrera loera so what a an amazing year what a challenging year what um just uh color for your um and I appreciate it all you know I appreciate it all because um it's those things that we're here for um to ensure that we are at the front lines um ensuring that our children our staff our families have the best um and so you know I just think of the highlights um both the good and not so good um and again you know I think it was important for it to come up to come up to ensure that they don't continue the not so good ones and that all the amazing things just flourish and grow um and that we can do what we can as Leaders to support our staff our teachers um so we can continue to be their best um in the best way that we can and so um thank you Dr Bauer for being the head the superintendent of our district um thank you to my peers on the board I'm doing our best and I just want to thank each and every one not just of the retirees but also the staff that got to or get to close their door soon um and hopefully enjoy a good summer break with their families with their children with their Community to do what they want what they love to be able to come back in the next school year to again do um what they are best at um being with their families our children in classrooms and in our schools and with that I also want to acknowledge all of our eighth graders who got to promote who are going on to High School uh going to be a part of a new Familia a new District wherever that is that they may go uh may they never forget that they have a part of Alum Rock that we will continue to root for them um that we want to hear about all the accomplishments and everything that they're uh doing um and that you know they always have a place to come back and give back to them I want to be teachers in the future they might want to be superintendents they might want to be school board members that we always have an open door for them and also actually the limiting classes from kinder uh tkins to Kimberly fifth grade to middle school so the babies um it is exciting it is exciting um you know I just it's just dream come true advocating for uh here and so I'm honored uh to be a part of this movement of this new Isle of Mock and I look forward to the many more accomplishments that we will be here celebrating together thank you okay thank you vice president Herrera loera but Quintero um have the opportunity to join uh at the couple of promotion ceremonies and I always really exciting um the energy is just infectious and um it you know it never gets old um it's I I consider it a real perk to be able to be a school board member that goes out there and see the faces of all these kids uh and it's not just some person from the community you know it's so we were there for a reason um and so it's really really exciting to to to see the energy that's there by the kids the family um hey everybody and you know shout out to the folks at Madison that just really went over the top today and you could just feel the energy like over the top and so it was great it was amazing um and so it leads it leads me to conclude that that doesn't happen by itself it's uh because of the work of our teachers um our staff everybody who's putting in the work you know as the kids are you know they were holding their ceremony inside campus and so other kids are running the class because they're still having to and so it was cool to see the live campus and all while the celebrations are taking place um while kids are moving around with their equipment they're their instruments you know it's really amazing to see that happen live right there um and so with that being said I I want to thank you Jocelyn for the work that you've done I came onto this board I think a couple years after a few years after you had taken over as president and so I lucked out and being able to be on on a board that had a um a the leader of the largest bargaining unit um that you know knew what they were doing that uh was uh was was in it for the right reasons to move our district forward um I I want to underscore and reiterate that we are lucky to have had you because they're you know there's board members talk and you compare what's going on in the places there are folks who are just in it for themselves for their particular unit and while you zealously advocate for your members like you should you still look at the bigger picture and it's always been the case I know that um we've we went to some really tough times and you could have just said figure it out on your own um I gotta focus on my on my people here and that's it um but no you didn't you stepped up and made sure that the community as a whole was left in a better place than you found it um and so thank you for that I really appreciate your um your diligence your your commitment to the district um um thank you for being there gracias acrostic Flora Shelton thank you president fam um number one for us so I just thank you for being a part of this um looking forward to lots more Partnerships and I do want to wish all the retirees um rest and and gratitude but all of our teachers and all of our staff kind of take a take a breath take a pause and then we're back at it right so um again just thank you um you guys you guys are smiling right now it's not back at it um but it is a team effort and Dr Bauer thank you for your leadership um uh in times of joy and in times of um constraints and challenges and take that breath and then be back at it with your team so thank you all righty the power Middle School eighth grade graduation uh at James lick high school so uh 25 years later I'm in the position to close out this District's 93rd year the see our eighth graders go off into the world and have my signature on their diplomas but uh nurse things first so uh last couple weeks of the school year I visited paint term that column and Shepherd uh I had the opportunity to read to the Vietnamese dual language classes uh the kindergarten class was uh very very interesting and I I had the uh you got a Kinder yes the the famous you know uh after I read they all being stuck in the Chuck E cheese balls you know but uh uh you know but I just received a thank you card from their class and I'm very uh you know gratified to see the programs growing to third grade where you know painters in a great place uh McCallum uh Miss blank had the best uh silkworms in the Cocoon so uh uh first graders uh first graders raising you know uh raising silkworms to study the life cycle of an insect I mean uh you know great things happening and uh I thank superintendent Bauer for joining me in Kitty meet the class that Miss lipinski's third grade uh where the the topic of the McCollum playground was the hottest topic they couldn't stop asking about that but uh but uh you know uh great you know great to see our kids learn uh the elements of democracy also the elements of you know freedom of the press and journalism and to ask important questions of their public officials uh at Shepherd I saw off the eighth graders I visited Mr Pickles the clap the the the the the eighth grade science patent yes I went to to their graduation and Independence High School where I told uh trust before Shelton yes I I have home field advantage because that's the high school I went to but uh but University at the Rancho Del Pueblo Golf Course uh record setting turnout over seven 700 parents came out uh you know we're you know uh great collaboration between our district and thirsty to give our community uh opportunities at other districts and Charter Schools don't offer uh but uh you know it's always important to be able to connect with our parents and to let them know what their District can do for them uh I attended the Alum Rock jazz band fundraiser last night I mean last Saturday at uh Mount Pleasant High School that I mean one of uh always great to support uh I would say one of the two crown jewels of the Island Rock Visual and Performing Arts program uh you know he uh he isn't here uh you know I I think he wasn't able to make it but uh Randy Barber is the retiring music teacher that was his final concert uh as a as a active Alum Rock music teachers I you know two would like to wish him all the best in his retirement and I I'll always uh you know uh Randy Barber and I have a very nice in the sense very nice relationship he he speaks his mind and I I appreciate it and he's a fine musician and I also uh appreciate that greatly so I mean uh thank you for all his years in in service to Alan walks his Performing Arts programs uh vice president Herrera and Laura and I attended the mayor's budget Town Hall at the Mayfair Community Center uh uh on the 31st of May uh we you know I spoke with councilman Ortiz and you know we've making progress about the issue of uh uh homeless encampments but also and gratify to learn that for the time being uh you know my efforts and as well as a superintendent's efforts of worn fruit and uh having San Jose learns uh funded in the upcoming City budget so we're able to provide ownership State protect that that funding for our uh for our students so you know with that note this you know this has been a uh interesting interesting school year to say nonetheless uh also and so like I'm halfway through my board presidency so I thank my colleagues for bearing with with me this is my first this is my first rodeo with The Gap up here and also superintendent Bauer and her cabinet for uh you know uh uh bearing with you know we're bearing with my presidential style as well I mean you know I hope I I haven't been too onerous but uh uh you know this has been a very very active presidency and you know a good chunk of that and you know uh could not you know uh would not have been possible about the administrative support to kind of have you know have this uh you know uh vigorous vigorous School Board presidency so uh with that I'll close that out and we'll move on to item 5.01.
I would first like to thank um Karen Orrick Joe kimona as well as Dr Roxanna Hernandez for your hard work on supporting to put this budget together is a lot of late nights and weekends and so thank you so much for our hard work really appreciate that I want to give an overview on okay there you go when I give you an overview on what's happening with the overall economy so as we all kind of know there's continued to be a Slowdown and there are a lot of uncertainties at this point right in the overall economy um the latest number for the inflation uh as of April 2023 was at 4.9 so this is actually good from the height of um 9.1 percent back in June of 2022 which was the highest um in the last 40 years at um last June and so [Applause] um and our governor has really tried to um to balance the existing Investments which is our base funding of the lcff um while the continue at the revenue has really have a significant debt deficit um projected deficit of 31.5 billion dollars shortfall that's being projected at this point um however protecting the lcf funding does come at an expense of currently at um one-time funds reduction being proposed at the main buy so this is something very concerning for us at this point and the governor didn't warn as well in May that should there be additional economic risk to the budget that deeper reductions could be necessary so do you want to make sure that we know those and in this presentation I'm going to be highlighting three um themes the first it's going to be reduction to one-time funds and second will be declining a woman which we've been talking about that that's across the state and then finally the declining in attendance rate which is now the new star of the um budget at this point for many of the school districts the first area I want to talk about is the reduction to one-time dollars and this is the Arts and Music and instructional material discretionary block grant when the budget was passed back into early in 2223 our initial allocation was 17 million dollars for our district and and then by January this reduction was proposed to 11 million dollars and then the latest May revise um it's being proposed to further reduction to 8.7 million dollars and so the issue is this we have already this money was supposed to be nerated we received about um we received 50 of it already at this point so this would mean that if this do get this funding does get reduced then we will only be keeping the 50 and then knock um receiving the other 50 so this is extremely concerning as obviously we have lost about 8.7 million dollars through this process the next um proposed reduction is the reduction to learning recovery emergency block grant and so um as of this our initial allocation was at 47.7 million dollars at this point we have received the entirety of this dollar amount already is already in our account at the county so the money is already here and so um the proposal to reduce um this is to reduce at about 32 percent to 32 million dollars for our district so this is an extremely significant loss to our district and unfortunately we already have this received this money so if there is a reduction what the state could do is to count it towards our principal abortionment from the lcf based funding so if that were to happen then we will then do some accounting to make sure that this happens but it is extremely unfortunate that money has been received and um now is the um reduction coming through and I've been in this industry for about 20 plus years at this point I'm not really seeing something like this it's like you get some you know Cuts but this is the money already in the bank and so that is very concerning um for for us at this point I do want to talk about um prop 28 so um just this is something that the voter passed back in November or 22 and the money is supposed uh will be starting in 2023 our estimate currently um is about 4.7 million dollars and expenditure plan is actually required for each School site um we did not budget this amount currently for our 2324 budget because there is no accounting code relating to this that we are not able to budget in our system currently and so when so something to yeah so we we check with the county and um and and uh the people we know and so they said currently there is a there is a budget a projected amount unfortunately there's no accounting code that we could put into our system at this point so just want to make sure that um we are aware of that and when we when they release the accounting code then we will be bringing that um Revenue into our budget when do you anticipate that we have been waiting we have not heard um we thought by now we would have already had it but it's not nowhere in the um the code structure that we have seen so we could not budget this amount at this point so there's they have they have already loaded the on the website about what you can ask and we've been you know checking on it and the county has been checking on it and so that's what they said just just I mean it's it's you but there's no accounting code we can't really budget that amount it's not just we we finally the state whatever is Which accounting number you have to put in so we have to follow the state guidelines so um I do want to um now the so that that the um so the second theme is the declining woman and this chart here shows us the uh top 10 projected decline by county in um California and so as you can see Statewide averaging uh trending is uh between 2020 to 23 to 2031 to 32 and then about uh a 10-year span or so um it's about eight point two seven percent Statewide but you can see some of the counties are projecting uh for example Ventura County 17 drop right that was a long time but still that's a significant drop um Orange County did not make it to top ten but Orange County uh drop is still at uh 9.55 projection and so obviously that's something that we continue to track um you can see here um overall 12 counties um across the um the state are projected to lose more than 10 000 students between 22 to 23 including our County um and 18 counties will lose um more students faster rate than the averaging of 8.27 and Orange County is one of them so we do want to make sure that um something that we continually to track our enrollment is a Statewide phenomena on this point I think this will show you that this is a phenomenon across the state and certain counties obviously is a lot worse um so but we are like within the top 12 or something but it's still very very specific and then we continue to attract this enrollment now we've been talking about decline enrollment for a long time now it's like more than 10 years we've been declining right so this is the number that um that we um have been I'm targeting but now the new star of the show is actually attendance rate and so this will show you what the state averaging has been and so if you look at prior to the pandemic right per um districts were about 96 or so right um and 95 to 96 and our data has been between 95 to 96 as well so and then we get funded on the P2 which is the the last two column there but I just wanted to actually um let the board know that our district considered we're a secondary school district for us to have such high numbers is very impressive because most of these data also include the elementary school district and the Unified School District and the attendance rates tend to be higher for the younger group of children and if you look at the data 2122 data at um P1 across the state level was 91 our district we were much higher 93 by P2 how we were funded uh state level was 90.49 our district we were at 95.16 that is almost a four it's a 4.66 percent higher than Statewide so we really applaud for our staff for working really hard with numbers of first year coming back from the pandemic our kids came to school despite everything else that was happening and our number really really showed that so at the state level they have been dropping since 2122 it didn't hit us until this fiscal year in 22-23 um remember I shared that information um since um since um January we saw those numbers we were tracking them we were basically declining about a percent a month and uh thank you Dr German free for leading that task force to address the chronic opposition that we have and we have now stabilized at this point but the point the key point is this at the state level there has been a four to five percent drop across school districts and so we have been working on that now I know we continue to work on that there's committees at school side level to really address this but this problem thing hit us until uh this year compared to all the um other school districts and for us to continue to have um the rate that is a little bit above this state average I think that is amazing consider that we are a secondary school district at this point and so I think this is something that we continue to track and working with outside to make sure that we need to be bringing those numbers up and this is a something that now has becoming uh something that across the state people are working on this and figuring out what is what can we do to improve this attendance rate at this point foreign so I want to show you like the effect of what um the difference between enrollment versus Ada because we get paid based on the average daily attendance when they show up so when our race drop from 95 to 91 that's a huge difference and so on this um chart here you will see um how we get funded so in 2223 we also um look at how much the face funding and then what our our current ad the Ada number is what their current Ada and then versus the funded Ada so in 20 to 23 our base funding is about 300 almost 301 million dollars in 2324 you can see our numbers um drop as well at this point but our increase is about 314 um million dollars so a net of increase of about 13 million dollars or actually 4.36 and as I watch I'll show you on our multi-year projection the cola at the state level the cost of living increase is actually 8.22 so when we tell people oh we're getting the we are getting the 8.2 to increase however without declining enrollment and are declining Ada because of the attendance rate the increase is actually only 4.36 percent so I want to make sure that we know that and there are other things for example that we do pay for the stuff and call it increase right people if they get more education then they get a little bit more money and each year when people are here um especially on the teacher's side you do get the increase in your step increase there's also the health and health benefits increase as well that we have seen and um but you know our increases are much better than some of the other surrounding districts we have amazing health benefits committee which our two board members do serve on that committee really working hard to make sure that we get the best plans for our employees as well and so really do think that committee to working hard on that but unfortunately with everything going up there's also the cost of going up with the health benefits as well Nancy can you give us the percent approximately of um the servicing existing salary schedules yes absolutely so for example for stepping column does we um budget about 1.5 to to that so if you think about that um of our total salary schedule that's about a four million dollar increase you know each year that would go on just for the stepping column um the health benefits um increase we've been budging about 10 and does the industry standard the budget between at least 10 percent and maybe up to 12 depending on what's happening in that year and the health benefits increase would be about six million dollars a year um and then recently uh we have also increased the um property and liability insurance as well as a workman's comp insurance as well and those are going up about one million each uh each year at this point so with an increase of 2 million so there are already a lot of increases that we already have to absorb as part of our budget and so I just want to make sure that to show this to see what what we're actually getting in terms of dollar amounts so those percentages actually come off and lower the 4.36 definitely by maybe another one and a half to two percent oh for sure so total for total for example for each year is about a I'm currently between 10 to 12 million dollar increase so pretty much if you look at how much being absorbed bulk of it is already being half we have to use that money to feed the um these increases already at this point right okay and so this is a Anitra I wanted to uh present um is the um of the enrollment projection with our actual Ada this is the Ada we're funded not um so so this is that sorry this is the actual Ada that we are actually generating not the funded Ada because we are protected for about three years based on the new current model um and as well as the unduplicated people account which includes our students who qualify for free and reduced lunch English language learner as well as Foster youth as you will see here um we are projecting to continue to decline and um currently our next year the number is going down to about 27 000 students and we are projecting to decline to about a little bit under 24 000 in 26 um 27 at that point and um as you can see the actual projected Ada currently is at the 91 attendance rate obviously we're hopefully hopeful that we can increase that rate uh as we go through and making since now we we do know the problem we had a delay effect from compared to compared to other school districts but that even one year as of not falling um to the 91 percent is helping us with our overall budget at this point so we are very hopeful um that we can continue to work on that this is the financial um projection dart board that we are the assumptions we are using as you can see um the cola for next year the cost of living adjustment is a 8.22 so this is a increase from the initial um projection that we receive of 8.13 so then we are putting the 8.22 into our budget at this point um so you can see the kelpsters employer rate is now at 19.1 percent so that means for every dollar that um that we pay employees the district has to pay 19.2 cents so just think about that so that's something and the employees also have to pay their employee contributions as well um so that we have that um the um on unemployment insurance that that's um that's it's good it's actually going from 0.5 to 0.05 but just remember not that long ago it was only 0.05 so we did have an increased quite a bit and then it's not coming down so for the uh proposed adopt the budget for general fund and 23.24 our total revenue is I'm showing here 566 million dollars and you can see the bulk of our money now is um and has been is from the uh local control funding formula lcf and funding they're at about 74 percent for the total expenditures we are projected to be about 566 um million dollars um for this um Coming um fiscal year at this point and you can see here this is the multi-year projection um that you see here so for the proposed about the budget we are taking in 566.8 million and then total expenditures about 566 million so net Odd as well we do have a positive uh balance in that year of 431 thousand dollars but if you're looking at at the out years we are now projected to deficit spend starting next year on 9.8 million dollars 13.7 million and 28.5 million dollars we do have um the um that with the new um Reserve level the current year Reserve level will be at 9.78 uh drop um and then us staying about 9.86 the following year and then going down to seven percent and then in the um fourth year out at 5.11 close so what are some of the final thoughts so as you all know the Texas the tax extensions for the disaster disaster areas in California which are going to be both of the counties across the state with the tax extension until October 16th there is really tough to actually get the budget to see what the true numbers will be and we're looking at possibly November that that's what they're telling us that that the state would have better number at that point so we I'm sure that the state level was on budget on prior to their timeline um but we must be um looking at what happens when the tax revenue dupe you'll come back around October and then with the information for November that time and so we'll be uh really watching for that I think around Thanksgiving that's the time we think that they'll be releasing all those numbers so we will be cautious waiting to see what those numbers look like at that level um and so the governor um have the um will be adopting the state budget spending plan by June 15 and so that's we'll be going to the board um at the same same net as well so hopefully so you've been hearing some of the things that will be coming out with between this week and next week to see what are some of the one-time things that that the cuts hopefully they do not come there are other things that the governor can do which we do welcome but not not that will be better than having the one-time reduction for example some years ago you guys remember we had a lot of deferrals but deferrals is better than right getting those reductions that we are seeing those at this point so there's different things we can do with deferrals um and maybe that they can dip into the winning day fund if they do need there is a raining day fund at that point that they can possibly start doing that but by but but what they're doing right now is cutting the money they already have given to us when the and a lot of the money is already in the bank that is really tough for to operate uh the way we're doing and obviously we want to continue to monitor what's going on but we are um hope for we are hopeful and and really try to make sure that um that one-time Cuts do not continue to come because the possibility is if there is continue decline in the overall economy they could possibly take in even more and so that's something that we are extremely concerned um at this point and um so once we do get um this the state adoption of the budget and we'll be bringing to the board a 45-day update I do want to cautious that at that point I don't think the revenue picture is very clear and so really waiting until probably November will give us the um the best numbers at that point and then this concludes my presentation I'm happy to answer any questions that you may have anybody have any questions I just had one clarifying question on the learning recovery emergency block grant um since the money's been already allocated you said um since we already have the money it will come out of which funds so what they would do is instead of giving us the lcf of Base funding so you saw that the base funding there right so what they can do is let's say um if they cut that they can say take your money and um basically count towards your base so we may have to move the money into a different path so accounting will be interesting but well I'm sure we'll figure out how to do that when that happens okay thank you for clarifying no worries anybody else yes so with counselors there is um they are um there are boards that they said these are rates and so um so far there is a statute that our calstrs they cannot um change that but Calpers is a little different Calpers can that board can set those rates but not a calstr so it would take quite a bit to to make that change and so do you remember Calpers and even calstrs Ray it was a 8.25 with calstrs it wasn't even that long ago and with Calpers it was at 13.02 percent and seeing that literally double at this point it was very quick um increase and so that's something that all employers are looking at to see what we can compensate because with those increases that is a very big factor as well but at this point the numbers are stabilizing but it's still we look at back not even that many years ago that number were much lower I mean was basically less than half thank you for the question any other questions thank you for your very concise explanation it's very graphic unfortunately thank you thank you so much thank you okay moving on to uh consent calendar do we have a motion so I moved second motion a second any discussion seeing none all in favor say aye aye aye opposed by zero Advanced planning we see the our next board meeting is going to be on June 15th seems kind of maybe next week huh next week we'll be back again today all right so any suggested agenda items hearing none do I have a motion for number eight or nine excuse me adjournment so moved second motion a second any discussion [Music] thank you thank you one and all good night thank you

and I still fear my principal from high school and more than that if you're a superintendent so notice she's still standing I know I know where securities uh I just want to share an experience that I had this week and it's all about you I was here at the school to take two potential donors a potential uh local construction owners to share the story of tech and it speaks for itself as you well know when they walk through that Halls they were in all of you but the experience I had is when I arrived early for my 11 o'clock I was in the that cage you know you can't get in and can't get out and I was waiting for Dr Rossi and I heard and I saw something that was a real experience so Mr McGraw will go through and we'll figure out whether or not you have enough credits to graduate but I'm going to certify this class as ready to graduate after that experience you showed creativity you showed fun you're laughing you showed Ingenuity Innovation teamwork but most of all resilience and respect for those of you in the audience that don't know what I'm talking about the seniors did what we'll call a pop-up event otherwise known as a class prank and they exhibited each and every one of those attributes in doing so and filling up one of the rooms I believe with over a thousand balloons and a moon bounce but the best part of that is that they did it in the right fashion they asked for some a little bit of permission and a lot of forgiveness and it turned out to be an awesome event so I just have to applaud you and I'm going to certify to Mr McGraw that you're all ready to graduate and take those skills with you so thank you very much [Applause] I'm also up here to give out two scholarships this evening and it's truly an honor on behalf of the parents call a motive group we give out it's programming with a set of instructions that's going to allow each of you in your lives to go forward in your careers and yes A1 the AI Revolution is here today we've already using it most of us opportunities and challenge that's going to afford each of you uh chat GPT a conversational system that allows you to talk to each other create what you want to say when you want to say it and it has not only that but your own independent thoughts and beliefs blockchain technology with digital way of tracking all transactions whether they're tangible or intangible then of course a digital currency called crypto much more is coming at you fast and furious so how do you navigate your future so you can realize your dreams how do you face the challenges and the fears that each of you have because I know what I had in high school maybe still have some uh to get beyond that and to move forward just sit back and take a moment and let me talk to you about what I call connecting the dots the thoughts in your life as a youngster a week perhaps all of us learn how to connect the dots on paper then in order to discover the picture designer Vision that we had in our mind but learning to connect the thoughts in our lives is the real challenge it is one that is not easily visualized going forward but comes together as we look back Upon A chosen pathway I was born to a hard-working family in violent Jersey and that ran several different Divas we ran several different businesses in our family my dad died when I was five years old so my mother had to take over family raised five siblings and my [Music] I understood at that point that life just was not just was not there it wasn't fair you don't lose your debt it just go on with your life at that age so that one on the paper [Music] now had to find DOT number two go forward as a family then the family unit looking to our mom to carry the load of to each of us found thought number two and three I need to con learn to contribute to share getting the job done and the same for all families many families go through this the following dots four five and six were connected as I applied myself in school it looked really very hard for DOT number seven something that made me excited something that I was passionate about that I look forward to each and every day creating my future and my pathway you will too about seven materialize when I became curious about science and specifically things that help me to communicate that Curiosity and thirst for learning how to improve our lives through communication brought me to dots 8 9 and coach Moses and Mazza decided to take a chance on a stick Challenge and you know there's no harm in doing it so I mean it's a it's a good coaching move some some coaches and some players may not like that they might think something of it but there's nothing wrong with a stick challenge every now and then keep things legal for everybody well especially if there's something a little fishy you might as well check it right so they're definitely pressuring the ball but that's leaving gaps right yeah what a delicious pass that wasn't a good save good dish there from morno to lucasic who was making a great cut and tried to sneak that left-handed shot through what they call the five hole between the goalies right between the goalies legs and goalie just got the stick down there at the last possible second right potential slash number 17 here gonna go to the left keep going left going to continue to use her left hand and Hannah Taft just challenging her all the way out very nice run by Molly McLeod there for Holliston got it right out and looks like tally Weiss is right up on walker uh trying to keep her at Bay and putting pressure on here and oh and that's nicely done from behind the net yeah number 19 for Holliston Anderson Hastings tell you what a little short angle shot right there I mean they they were yelling 19 seconds over here 20 seconds to let her know to shoot you know you only had a little bit of time but she didn't waste any time in putting that one in the back of that low angle I don't think Holly was expecting to see the shot come in from that angle and just snuck it in a very accurate pinpoint shot by uh number 19.

Henderson Hastings a sophomore midfielder so 18.6 left enough time to get down for one side or the other oh absolutely I mean one draw control and it's you know foreign about 10 seconds left and intercepted by Morneau very nicely let's see if East longmeadows got enough time to get it off she might is and uh good defense there at the end yeah you slow metal gave it one last hurray one last chance they were close to getting a shot off it was actually if the end there there was a penalty on Holliston but it was just a millisecond too late okay and so we're gonna go into halftime we're gonna take a little break here in East Longmeadow the music's gonna be blaring we got a little 10 minute break the fans are all leaving their seats to go down to the Snack Shack to support the East Longmeadow booster club we can buy some food and I think I'm gonna go down there myself Josh and maybe get myself a little something to eat here tonight okay it looks like we've got a five minute half time apparently well then I better get that food back go get it we'll be back thank you foreign thank you foreign thank you foreign thank you all right we are coming out of the half it was a short and a half time because we got started a little bit late uh and obviously the sides are going to change ends and we'll see um if that last goal from Holliston before the half will give them a little momentum here he's long that I was still in control but um you know again it's a whole half and uh you got to keep playing playing hard so the last whistle yeah I mean that was it really actually a really important goal I think Josh for uh Holliston not that it you know gets him back in the game but what it does importantly is it stops the running clock yeah so now they're only down by now they're only down by nine goals so you know eight meters penalties things of that you know after goals right the clock we'll stop so I I actually think it's equally as important for um this next goal is also important because if East Longmeadow gets it the clock will continue to run right and if Holliston gets it it actually gives them a little bit of a buffer right right that's very true good point um I enjoyed my very quick pizza snack down there it was a little bit of a line at The Snack Shack it was really packing them in tonight huh yeah they're packing them in making some money for the booster club which is great I got Allie Thompson of the draw here who is very successful in the first half let's see if she can keep it going and she does gets it back to over to Mourinho Mourinho taking oh all right good idea let's see if Megan Morneau can track that down she does and now East Longmeadow looks like they're getting themselves set up again they're interest good run by Megan and you know I'm curious why they were coming out so far on her there I mean you you know she gets by you and now we're you know they're out of position oh we're gonna get a little celebration here of some sort with morno and Mourinho they've got something going which is great always good to see the girls and ladies and student athletes out there having fun as well as competing right which is nice warno's got some just terrific moves you know she really knows her you know how to get in and around those nooks and crannies on offense it's really impressive to see how she weaves her way in and out of there some good offensive moves on that one Thompson on the draw we're gonna have a Chase and it looks like it's picked up by 17.
local accountability plan um so let us begin so it's always um not sure there it goes so this time of year is um always a good time to reflect on last year's um work uh in terms of the lcap actions and services and look forward to next year and see what we can improve on and continue to provide to our families and students so that they are the students are successful in our schools as part of the adoption requirements we're required to hold at least one public hearing which we're doing this evening at the same time we are going we're required to um uh also [Music] um share the budget for the school year and the budget will be for parents and then we in a couple of weeks we will have another meeting so that we can bring the plan for board approval which is on June 22nd this is just a reminder of what the process has been this year we are now at the public hearing stage and stakeholder feedback and then we will go for approval on June 22nd before we submit the plan to the county office event by July 1st I shared this last month so I will not share it again this month but just a reminder of the overall considerations um after we did all of the reflection on surveys data and forums the data from the forums and feedback from the forums so what I'm going to share now is um just uh some slides on the lcap draft and it includes the budget overview for parents there are three slides that were required to include in our lcap plan annually I'll be sharing a little bit of that with you um so some results in the annual measurable outcomes the four l cap goals for the 2023-24 school year and the actions and services under those four goals it's a little bit on the budget overview for parents so this chart here um shares with um families um a big picture of what the budget will look like and then the pieces that are in the lcat so uh the alamac school district for next school year um is projected to spend um the 156 million 274 232 dollars um in the whole budget of that total amount 117 million 649 000 is for it's from lcff and this is kind of small to see but it you have copies of it um so 25 million of that is for State funds um that we also um use in the total budget and then uh five million of those are federal funds like Title One title two title three title four all of the title funds that we also um include actions and services in the lcat but they come from federal funds um so 28 million of that lcff dollars is what has to be written into the lcat and that's what I will be reporting on this evening is um that that portion of the outcome and that is um based on the enrollment of our high needs students this chart shows the budget expenditures in the lcap so the total budgeted general fund expenditures are 163 million a 534 980 and the total budget expenditures in the lcap are 133 million 476 033 and um those are um uh the actions and services that are required to be written into the lcap the remaining um dollars are used for operating costs for retirement um uh system and for the federal and state and local um other grants that we receive that are not lcfs this last slide that is for the budget overview for parents um goes over what the total budgeted expenditures were for last for this current school year um in terms of high needs students so we projected that we were going to spend 26 million 695 554 and we spent uh 26 million 991 389 000.

they're in the offensive zone over here to number 10. Izzy brosnick [Music] looks like everyone's gonna get it they're going to get everybody to touch here number three Caitlin has it working around taking their time it's a good cut by number 40 that yeah they're just kind of we'll say Islam Meadows zone defense has gotten progressed it had it kind of had its up and downs all year but it's gotten progressively a little better I think I've seen them their last couple games it's been a little bit it's been a little bit better here we gotta I'm not sure what that call was three second call I believe so we're gonna you know it's just a restart kind of from behind yeah a three-second call for those of you at home in that eight meter Circle a defensive player if you're inside that Circle you have to be within a stick's length great steal there by Ali Thompson she was just given the award by the East Longmeadow coach as the defender of the year for exactly that yeah this is going to be just a either oh she got us jammed up from behind oh trulio on a stick check from behind and now Eastland metal is going to get in its ride you don't see that happen too often no I think she just kind of like took her eye off it wasn't sure whether to pass it or whether to go and then when she went oh that one oh good pick up there by number 40.
