unnoticed I would now like to do some affirmations that correlate with each one of our chakras chakras are energy points in the body and there are seven foundational chakras so we will be doing seven thank you and I'm so proud of all of you please welcome the class of 2023 salutatorian Miss seneca's artman to the stage she will deliver her salutatorian address hello parents staff board family community thank you for being here today to support us my name is Seneca zarman and I'm honored to be representing the class of 2023 as your salutatorian practice the pause I'm sure you have heard this saying before there are a lot of levels of depth to this statement but today I ask you to take time to pause with me to ponder a few things to start would you pause for a moment and think back to your middle school years remember the awkwardness the uncertainty the hormones well I transferred to Jimtown in the middle of my eighth grade year during those weird middle school years although it's my pleasant surprise I was welcomed by all of you I was included immediately by the students and the staff coach gallmeyer helped me feel included on the basketball team Mr Stoner and Beau kaler took me under their wing at school and made sure I knew where I was going I will forever be thankful for the way they help me make connections right away aside from Beau Ellie Brothers Ryan Moyer JC Folkers and Dylan cook were some of the first people to welcome me Ryden inclusion that is a theme I have noticed about my time here as a Jimmy we may not all agree on different aspects I love how each of us has brought different experiences beliefs and opinions I love that we can all debate in a family friendly Manner and still include one another at the end of the day in a world where people are so divided over many issues that is a special trait that the students and staff of gymtown possess my sophomore year A friend of mine committed suicide and into my junior year I had another person close to me deal with some mental health issues during all this I went through a pretty dark time in my life English class became one of my most comforting times of the day Mr stickle was a great listener and offered me lots of advice during some tough days aside from my family I also had several friends who offered support and were a place of Refuge for me through this time my therapist taught me the importance of setting healthy boundaries and practicing the pause she encouraged me to take time to rest and fill myself up so that I could continue to pour into others I decided to step away from one of my sports during this year as well even though it affected coach Williams and Coach Papp in a negative way they still supported me in this hard decision as we head out into this busy World remember to take time to pause rest let go of things set boundaries and fill yourself up first so that you can love and serve others well my senior year thanks to Rachel post pullston and Rita gorbik's constant pushing especially Rachel I stepped out of my comfort zone and tried something new I gave cheerleading a try and it quickly became one of the best decisions I could have made for myself it ended up being the sport I loved the most some of my best high school memories are with Jimtown cheerleading pause with me for a second and think about something you have always wanted to do go for it be bold be adventurous I have learned it is well worth it I also want to pause to thank Mrs Polson Mrs gorbex and Mrs Wright for all the help they have given me with all my academics they have advocated for me helped me with college requirements and transcripts and always took time to answer all my annoying questions I'm a person who needs all the information so this was a huge deal to me just like Mr sickle they were great listeners but also weren't hesitant to speak the hard truth to me as you go forward in life I encourage each of you to surround yourself with people who are great listeners but unafraid to challenge push and speak truth to you these are the people that make you better as you lay your head down tonight stop and pause to reflect on who those people are in your life that do make you better Mrs Kaylor is another person I've been blessed to have in my corner while here at Jimtown she has been a huge supporter both personally and academically I want to thank the Bago Administration and board members for the apprenticeship program here at Jimtown I had the opportunity to work under Mrs Kaylor at the elementary this year Mrs kaler Mrs garden and many other Elementary teachers took me under their wings and gave me Hands-On experiences and classroom interactions with all the young students I'm so thankful for the way this has given me a head start in my future occupation this apprenticeship allowed me to become 100 confident that elementary and special education were the right Avenue for my future career so thank you BOGO for offering this opportunity I can't forget to pause and thank the Gentile Community for their support you have shown up to fundraisers cheered us on in the stands and auditoriums and donated to your time and money without you the class of 2023 would not be where we are today thank you for giving generously to balgo schools I also pause for a moment to thank my family you all know how much you guys mean to me and I'm so thankful to know I always have you in my corner I love you guys to my classmate classmate I realize not all of you sitting here can look back you may be tapping your foot wondering how much longer you have to sit here before you can leave this place forever well I've had plenty of amazing experiences and interactions high school has also brought some difficult difficulties and challenges there were moments where I felt failed by a system or by a person but that is the reality of life in this world there will always be people who hurt or fail you and that is okay I encourage you to choose empathy understanding love and forgiveness knowing that there was only one perfect person who ever walked this Earth and didn't fail I take time today to pause and acknowledge Jesus and for the friend I have in him I'm thankful to have a savior I can lean on even when the world fails I encourage those of you who struggle to find the good when looking back on these last four years pause and think hard the good memories are there focus on those and know that you do have a community here at Jimtown that loves and cares for you class of 2023 we did it I can't believe the day we have been waiting for it is finally here stop and pause to look around you our classmates our teachers and staff our families and friends pause don't rush through this moment breathe it all in as I was writing my speech I paused to think about each of you and this celebration I pause to think of the staff the family the friends the community and all the people along the way thank you for walking alongside me on this High School Journey God made each of you so unique and thank you so beautifully each of you bring different talents and strengths to this community and to this world my prayer for each of you is that you will know and grasp how truly loved and cared for you are by Jesus he has a special plan just for you and no matter where life takes you you are seen and valued I hope you can look back at your time here at jingtown with fond memories and store up all the lessons you have learned I hope you can head into this next chapter of your life confidently living love congratulations Jimmy's class of 2023 pause and celebrate [Applause] no Fernandez to the stage to deliver his address to the class of 2023.

I would also like to remind everyone of the importance of our ceremony today the class of 2023 has done this commencement ceremony is for you all in the stands the families this is the time where mothers fathers siblings grandparents and all extended family members have long awaited to watch their loved one cross the stage we are all here to celebrate your seniors your students accomplishment so I asked that during the program we all are aware of that each other's commitment to each other and our love for our loved ones to make sure that we hear their name as they cross the stage we want to keep today's ceremony special and reverent and today I stand before the class of I just want to let you guys know how proud I am of all of you how much I believe in all of you and how much I appreciate all of you you guys made it and here today we are going to close one chapter of her other life and prepare you to write the next high school plays an important role in your life and it's amazing it's an amazing time for many for others it's probably been a bit of a struggle it's a time where you work through relationships you have long-standing friendships some may sour you may make new friendships you may develop friendships you never even expected you maybe even have found Mr or Mrs Wright or Mr and Mrs Right Now you have considered your next steps and what your life Ambitions will be you have goals they may not turn out but you have goals as you sit here before us moving forward you're going to work to maintain those relationships or you're going to pursue those dreams or those goals or you're gonna wipe the Slate clean you're going to start fresh become someone new that's the great thing about next steps you can reinvent yourself you can either solidify Who You Are and lean into it with all of your Gusto to be the best version of yourself or you can say I'm going to reinvent myself either way the choice is yours hey I'm rolling College universe enlist in the military some may just jump right into the workforce no matter where you head next you all have the opportunity to continue to shape your lives as you see Korea and its families mortgages bills all of it awaits you and believe me they're there you may not know it yet but they're there be sure to enjoy all of those experiences even the tough ones even the ones that aren't very comfortable enjoy them continue to find joy in small things humility in your struggles learn the lessons along the way and as my father told me about the time I was graduating he said Son if you think High School is the best time in your life you ain't been living outside of the poor grammar I didn't really understand what he meant by that then I got older and as I got old and by the way I heard the stories from my my dad's High School career sounds like he had some fun but as I got older and I reflected on this it made sense high school was amazing and hopefully it laid the foundation for who you are today but that wasn't the best four years of your life that's four years of your life lie ahead when you find someone you start a family you make your way you earn a living and you find a way to leave yourself in your community in a variety of ways it took me a long time to figure that out but I've thoroughly enjoyed the moments after ever so more and so today I'm going to close with you and close my speech with you with a quote from motivational speaker speaker Michael Ox Schuler he says quote bad news is time flies the good news is you're the pilot before you know it you're going to be sticking out you're going to be I'm 51 you're going to be 51 years old before you know it you might be standing up in a stage giving a Commencement Address you might be owning a business you might be a stay-at-home parent still or a grandparent we don't know what we don't know what your future holds but the time is going to fly but remember you are the pilot fly your dreams find your Visions make your life everything you want it to be and enjoy the little things go forth Jimmy's make your journey I am proud of you I believe in you I know you are capable of great things and I truly appreciate it is my honor to speak to you all today I would like to start off by thanking everyone who helped us make it here all the teachers the administrators the coaches the parents and other family members and I would like to extend my thanks to each of you as well because we are rarely sure of the true impact we have had on others whether that be with homework help a comforting hand or simply being willing to listen to a friend in need specifically though I would like to thank my parents for standing by my side the last 17 years of my life there have been countless times I forgot my lunchbox at home or my homework on the table and I would call my mom in a panic there was never a single time she didn't drop off whatever it was I had forgotten or the times I would be laying on the floor of my living room with my dad trying to work through a math problem he was always patient with me even if even when it took several times of explaining for me to finally understand I want to thank Miss Rita gorbics and Miss Rachel Polson who have coached me the last six years of my life I will never be able to express my gratitude for the Memories I've made or the friendships I've created now to those of you who I haven't fully lost your attention I would like to tell you a story to go I was sitting up in the stands with my family watching my older sister Emma give this exact same speech of course as a younger sister I couldn't let her have this to herself and at that moment I vowed that even if it seemed terrifying I wanted to give this speech I thought that it would mean I had everything figured out so as I stand here right now I would like to say that I have it all figured out that I know exactly what my plan is after I walk across the stage but I must confess that this just isn't the case I just chose a college last month and I certainly don't have my major picked out sometimes it's okay not to have a plan and I think that's been one of the hardest lessons I've had to learn it's impossible to know what tomorrow looks life beautiful if we could predict every sense of Our Lives we may as well no longer be human I highly doubt any of us expected our four years of high school to play out how they did likewise our futures may not unfold how we anticipate but we will face the uncertainty of the changing tides head on just as we have done in the past four years High School is often said to be the best for years of your life but the truth is there's simply a single falling chameleon in the expansive Garden of Life we all have so much more growing to do and all this soon will feel nothing but a Faraway dream our experiences not only in these past four years but our entire 13 years of school have made us who we are today but that doesn't mean they Define our future our high school career has been nothing short of an adventure and a variety of unexpected ways but we made it through and I'm so proud of us all we will all be embarking on new Journeys after we leave here today and none of us will be walking the exact same path as another My Hope Is that as we Embrace whatever the future has in store we remember the lessons we learned here during our time and that they guide us as we find our way into the world I hope we keep them as mementos that guide us through all seasons of Our Lives from the brightest days of summer to the coldest mid-winter nights I hope also that we can remain strong and kind no matter what we face right now we're together one last time we will likely never have another chance to all be together like this so I want you to look around at the people surrounding you and listen to these words I am proud of us I am proud that we made it here and I am proud that we are walking towards the future I would like to end with one of my favorite verses Joshua 1 9.

okay good evening ladies and gentlemeno here Michael Shields [Music] .com 79 degrees lots of fans a beautiful day [Music] dominating performance against his home Leominster crossing our rivalry [Music] prepared [Music] had the opportunity to get some film on each other looking for a great matchups Starting In A Circle Goose club now is going to be ally Thompson on the draw along with Megan morno on the circle and a marina and we are all folks and the first one is awesome Megan morno has it coming up the left-hand side gets it over to senior co-captain Bridget Jordan it's a little bit of a low pass there a little quick turnover a little nerves there on the pass and yes it became so the Nerds are up all goes out of bounds on a pass so it's gonna go immediately to Leominster number one is carrying it here a little penalty there now getting chased again from behind coming after the job called drops Leominster was its first offensive opportunity number 12 for Leominster santushi basketball over there on the right hand side Lannister has an outstanding and outstanding office not sure why that wasn't a shooting space there but Paul gets the ground test and all picks it up and again a little bit of a little bit of nerves right there another turnover by East Longmeadow did a great job there on defense to knock it out of sand stand two feet stick and then pick it up all right [Applause] there it is a little sidearm shot right there with a lot of power first blood drawn by Leominster one nothing a minute and a half into the game they're all giving up already number 12 Gabriella Santucci quick way there she really created a lot of space for herself and then ranked one in the back of the net draw coming here same same people on it picked up by Allie Thompson exit over to Canada Marina over to Captain Bridget Jordan East Longmeadow getting its second opportunity here see if they can maintain a little better possession good opportunity right there passed by Megan morno daddy Jordan who was cutting she tried to put one in the top of the net just a little bit high but East Longmeadow very nicely backs it up Anna macarini with the ball behind the cage in a very familiar spot thank you yeah really good transition right there they got through the ride and it's got it into the clear they've cleared Leominster with its second possession good job by East Longmeadow to get back there on defense Leominster setting up it's setting up its offense it looks like leominster's got actually a pretty good offensive plan here they've been having so far I mean girls wide open just like that I mean just wide open in the middle of it I mean the cutters to right off the bat not even really three minutes into this game and Leominster up 2-0 two offensive possessions and two goals one Mr goals for number five Lila Melendez won by Melendez one by Santucci two of their seniors who obviously their best players both midfielders High goal scorers for Leominster like what do you see so far [Music] we get a chance to take it away we gotta yeah so far I mean really a good job on the drop on the draw control for East Longmeadow I think they're they might be three for three on the draw control so far but draw control is a little different than the scoreboard athletic catch [Applause] she wasn't going to shoot that one over she puts it in the back of the net gives East Longmeadow a little bit room here 2-1 lemons the first goal is always available yeah I think it helps Mike I think you're exactly right it gets a little bit of the nerves out they know now that they can they're going to be able to put it see what happens here on this draw it's really flipped up high [Applause] you know she gets followed she gets followed on the side Ally Thompson's got it on the side back up to Bridget Jordan Bridget Jordan looking moves it over to number five Addie Jordan who's coming around the cage still coming around the cage gets it to Megan morno she's triple teamed but here comes uh Here Comes Leominster in the clear number 12 Sam Sushi and there you go hammered again continue moving oh no a little bit of a long pass there by number 22 Grace Howard just a little strong on the pass Swan Meadows ride not as effective as it usually is we were able to just run that thing through and clear it now Leominster is going to set up its offense it's like Santa Sushi again over on the on the right hand side of the cage for those of you watching on lcat a nice production being put on again by Jamie rook and Don Mackey who do a great job for lcat for all of the East Longmeadow residents not just for girls lacrosse and Sports in general but all sorts of all sorts of things for fatalities Leominster really taking its time here comes number nine she is just not gonna get caught on this one she's moving [Music] just a lot of sloppy play so far for East Longmeadow on the um on offense just the really uncaused turnovers either in the clear or in the or in the uh or in the offensive zone before I think four turnovers already and really none of them were paused chipping up that rust right those nerves yeah a little bit like I see them already yeah the other goal is going to make them feel good [Music] yeah they're gonna put number four behind I mean this is a little this is a much better is a much better ride right here you know that was a turnover but it's with Jordan there I think is not finished with a finished with a check it would have been it just it would have been uh you know would have been a turnover just finished I think she did lose it she didn't lose it out of the stick [Applause] in the offensive zone just again another really sloppy turnover by East Longmeadow I mean they really need to settle their offense down take their time get looks like they've got to get people to get possession they're trying to I think hurry it up when they really don't need to I think if they settle down on offense a little bit uh you know being a little better shape right now 2-1 Leominster still with 17 minutes uh 17 minutes remaining again just really really sloppy play by East Longmeadow you know really challenging pass right there by Ali Thompson I mean Bridget Jordan was open but the pass was in a really difficult place to catch it just seemed to me there that Thompson Navy could have just run that one over the restraining line and then just set up the offense but East Longmeadow back on its ride Addie Jordan really putting applying a ton of pressure here there it goes and now they're coming back again putting just a lot of pressure on a lot of pressure on this ride here we go [Applause] why he's just gonna kind of make sure right get get it over the line please everyone's claiming right here and there it is we are over the restraining line setting up the offense for East Longmeadow Bridget Jordan number seven has it I'm back from Reno Reno that's going to be potentially doing a good job [Music] yeah yeah meter opportunity here at Kenna Marina with an opportunity to opportunity to tie the game I'm gonna run this one in if he does [Applause] [Music] not sure what happened there exactly but Hannah Marino tried to run it in a good check there from behind [Music] through GPS I wish I could Anna's room where are the GPS and that is just not you know it was kind of like a blind shot and you can't really do that in girls lacrosse if the follow through hits the player it's an automatic yellow card a two-minute penalty and so now a little bit of a delay here as we kind of make sure everybody medically is okay reset coach Moses and Coach Mazza over there trying to evaluate kind of what to do not that anything spiraled out of control but clearly I think Leominster um is playing better right now sure just having I like our defense really gets kind of six out of six right here both teams have a player and both teams have a player in the penalty box and a Macarena coming out Carolina casing coming in [Applause] um 3-1 Leominster good shot there a low rider off stick side number one Emma Miller Ayala number nine on the assist ance [Music] success on the draw so far I think they've won all of the draws up to this point Ali Thompson doing a great job along with Hannah Moreno and Megan morno on a circle Howie Thompson's been doing it looks like kind of a lot of self-draws that are really flipping them up high this one on the ground is picked up again by Leominster looks like Leominster is going to set up a very similar play here a little delay here is a fall somehow made its way out of the field I think some kids were practicing on the uh the East Longmeadow wall and it may have just happened to come over the fence and it made its way out of the field we're still six on six [Music] leominster's been doing a really good job of getting people trying to wide open for shots so far [Music] the pass in there just stick control by number one and here they come now [Music] very good save still going to was bringing that ball from transition up the left-hand side got push out of bounds so it's a restart gets it up the bridge of Jordan they're really it's like leominster's playing a little bit of a Zone here got one on one Addie Jordan San soucy right there and then they're off and then they're often transition hey you hear the fans screaming there but Addie Jordan uh number five and kind of Mourinho number one we're really just chasing her down and then it was a trip and fall there was nothing intentional about that number one kind of surrounded minister is back Zone and like they've really had a tremendous level of success here um even that last save I mean it was a great save but they were really able to get off an outstanding shot I mean their efficiency is really really high and trying to shots on goal percentage and really what they're trying to do here they really seem to have a very very concrete plan and that's just why though it's just wide open I mean it's wide open house Eastland metal is going to have to come up with some type of answer for that for those Putters because they're not even being covered [Applause] um [Music] 11 minutes and 40 seconds remaining here in the first half [Music] I want to see if someone will win this face often in the circle and start to change the momentum of this uh breathing moments of life [Music] yeah I just get a little activity and you know I just think maintaining I just think the maintaining of possession would be oh a good thing it was a good pass I mean she was open kind of Marino had it from behind see if Rubino can get this one in I mean he's very fast [Applause] thank you yeah I mean you were mentioning it you said that they needed to win that draw they did I mean that was you know Hannah Moreno kicked that ground ball up immediately got to order me Jordan Jordan Memorial [Music] they can do it again [Music] Leominster on the draw let's see what these folks Moses is going to change things up a little bit or if you slot I mean they just look very stagnant she's trying to fire him up Jeff I see her up down there it's like a lot of a lot of walk a lot of kind of walking around and just kind of seeing what's going on but I see what Leominster is going to do here though they're rough four two looks like they're kind of something like this kind of roll through I mean again right there number 12.

yeah right for the middle caught the ball no problem and he's on metal hadn't crashed that was going to be another you know it was either gonna have to do a great save or it was going to be above here we go again it's kind of gonna be looks like it's going to be this very similar very similar play we'll do the fake pass there she kept it you're really just looking for the cutter open the middle certainly be very patient right now with the ball very patient they're waiting for their look if they get their look they're going to take it [Music] a lot of rock ball movement too setting up for the play [Applause] [Music] [Applause] oh no oh I don't think that was good [Applause] [Music] [Applause] it's gonna be out of the 12 meters so it's not really going to be enough an immediate opportunity [Applause] and then they get the ball out in transition got a penalty and then we're able to really put that one in it up same people on the draw number nine for Leominster Kylie Megan porno [Music] again [Music] one by number 12.

20 23 24 and I'm going to hand it over to Marlene Solano for explanation thank you faith so we very much appreciate being able to access the peck Jones funds for this current school year that we are closing out for our kindergarten and grade one students this is a separate and a different request although incredibly similar this is a request for the same amount of money for next school year so for the 23-24 school year and this is to I see a typo on there this is um very similar it is for the um grade 2 and grade 3 classrooms we've engaged in an inventory of grade two and grade three we've identified the need for books at all of the students levels a lot of this is precipitated by covid and that we sent so many of the classroom library books home some of it has even nothing to do with not getting the books back it's just that they're old and worn and it's time to replenish so given the budget constraints that we're under it makes sense to us as a team to reach out and use that 22 000 to replenish a significant you know part of our classroom libraries across the district and this again would be in grades three and grade four foreign yeah can I ask a question about the timing are we doing both of these Peck Jones grants in the same year no we're not the monies that I requested in April have been expended we took that and we went and we purchased and have received and have labeled and have distributed those kindergarten and grade one books into the classroom libraries that's was done between when you all approved it in April and just a few weeks ago um that was for the 22-23 school year and now this would be for the 23-24 school year we had two school years where we did not tap into the peck Jones funds we had enough money in our budget and with the Esser funds that we were able to buy whatever it was that we we needed for curriculum supplies so looking ahead to next year we can get a jump on it over the summer by getting those orders done and having those in the libraries in the fall so it was just looking at looking at the time it made sense thank you that was that answers my questions about the timing because we're do we are in fact voting on them both in this year but that's because we went a couple years during covid without exactly thank you and just to clarify so the application will start will go in July 1st or later yes we started the next fiscal year yes so this will come up as an agenda item on that June 29th special meeting that we will have and that books will close out and then this will go to the town in in you know the summer time so that we could expend those funds in the next fiscal school year okay um so we do need to have a motion on this um and I'll take a swing at it move to authorize um the application for Peck Jones funding Eric Peck Jones grant for the 2023-24 school year for the purchase of classroom library books for grades three and four you got that perfectly did you get that Kevin you read it better myself faith okay so do we just vote on it and it doesn't go to the full board or are we are we making the motion to send it to the full board the motion is to send it to the full board my second thank you um any further discussion all right seeing none all in favor aye aye okay and then last but not least uh we have a um out of state field trip this is informational we do not need to vote on it correct so I'm going to ask more read and read to please share about the special field trip to Virginia Beach sure so the uh Greg Bell would like to I'm going to switch over so I can kind of read from it too Greg Bell is taking would like to take the chorus to um the music festival in Virginia Beach and um it's an opportunity for students um and a challenge for the group of students involved in the course to perform for Collegiate level judges who will critique and grade their Ensemble providing immediate feedback and then they'll also have a Public Presentation performance and they will do a little bit of sightseeing while they're down there so they're requesting to go from April 3rd to the 7th next year and a couple of those days are school days but this is quite the experience to be able to get that feedback from the Collegiate level so that's the request foreign the other thing that I'll add to this is that the music department K through 12 has been working super hard to reinvigorate all of those programs both the choral program at elementary middle and high school the band program at each of those levels and the Strings program they really experienced such a hit during covid that they're they're trying we know how important music education is and they're trying to reinvigorate those programs and they've been meeting with success and I think this is um one of Greg's ideas in order to generate that excitement along the trip so Dr Gad and Dr Reed and um Dr Solon have all signed off on this field trip and thought it was a great idea and a step in the right direction and it's here for inform um as an informational item so that you all know what is that it's the trip is happening but also wanted to add that the reason the rationale and the reasoning behind it um any questions no I have just one um I saw that the cost for per student is one thousand twenty six dollars and then there looks to be an intensive fundraising is the goal to cover completely or um is it the normal financing Arrangements on these on this uh for the students well I think the goal is to cover as much as possible for each student so you know won't have to pay much okay already um can I go off your question face please um so it's that's the cost per student to the student but the fundraising will take that hope take that down for all the students correct okay all right um well that's our agenda folks so um unless something urgent has just happened um do I have a motion to conclude to close the meeting I I moved to adjourn okay um SEC and seconds all in favor hi hi thank you everybody thank you everyone thank you all for tuning in and doing this virtually today we really appreciate it I

number one and the Miller Ayala has it for really spreading out the offense here with eight minutes left it's like they're really just gonna move this ball around and that looks like they're trying to force East Longmeadow out to open up space in the middle down there comes the cutter [Music] it's gonna bring the paint Leominster Ballroom it was very close double team we call it a slide right there thank you foreign really good play she stood her ground at number 12 saying Susie just backed into where it's holding play right there Calabrese Calabrese we gotta wind it up we're kind of far out for that but she kind of just wound up and went for it Thompson was there I'm not sure what happened I have to see that one on the video [Applause] good ground ball pick up right there by Islam Meadow to maintain possession after that he just lost it right near the door [Music] Jordan Jordan tomorrow together it's a tough one right there I'm not so sure about that I'm gonna get a penalty on uh penalty on Leominster joining us now in the pool taking over momentarily with Mike Shields [Applause] [Music] all right [Applause] [Music] has it she's coming out [Applause] on offense all things being considered it got a little rough a little bit towards the end of the year but they've really kind of come around here for the state tournament they breathe a second you know they got some CPR right at the end of the season and they'll do some new life back some new life back in I got here a lot of movement here on the circle making more on going over to the other side good one there and just bring it back she is temporarily temporarily went the wrong way Megan Borno chasing down number nine I I agree as a as a goal already number 12 some sushi with the gold number one Emma Miller and again Leominster really just taking its time right here moving the ball around slowly really trying to set something up it really looks like they're trying to set up you know to move the East Palmetto offense off of that eight meter all right [Applause] who's just moving it down the field oh I can understand what we're doing on these transitions very difficult passes instrumental they're throwing the ball too high they're just rushing on offense for no reason just seems like they can just set things up and they are having success but all these uncaused turnovers have really been the difference I think in the first half what do you think [Applause] foreign [Applause] foreign there it is again just sloppy play on offense uncaused turnovers after some great defense there by Bridget Jordan on the ride to get it back but then just turns it right back over and see she's got it again Leominster kind of doing the same thing [Music] yeah they've been doing a little bit better job I think since you know about 12 minutes remaining in this half actually you know they've gotten some turnovers some cause and some some not but they're definitely doing they're definitely doing a better job there was another one right I mean just a great catch in the middle there do it a really good look right there Megan morno and Caroline basic with a great safe ball is up ball is out [Music] not sure what happened there I guess it's going to be a call on Talia Weiss didn't see much there it seemed like that was gonna that was chasing us down that's been a great fact check there by Paula White [Music] okay that'll put a little bruise on your back right there but you know that's that's difficult to cross just trying to do her best coming out of the game anyway up by four one minute and 30 seconds remaining it's been a interesting first half lots of turnovers by you Stone metal a really good early start by Leominster it's just that early start because not much has happened thank you sister love sister [Applause] play for four years [Music] and this year she has really accepted the wall and gone from you know goal scorer to leader and her assist making in passing has been absolutely Memphis for the last like six or seven games has really come together Jordan on the draw again ball goes up [Music] and seriously using a height Advantage there over Mourinho on the gloss Circle to pick that one up good move there by Talia rice good play a little aggressive defense usually you see a call there of some sort yeah bye the putter open there trying to pin inside oh man he puts the Twizzler in size foreign [Music] ER from number 12 San Souci got it out on a risky pass to morno got it up to Addie Jordan they tried to set up a play they score with seven seconds remaining in the first half to give East Longmeadow Spartans to lead seven to four divine right there um great time I really appreciate Jillian you joining us in the half to give us a little perspective and a outstanding student athlete you are yourself looking forward to seeing you on the soccer field in the fall good morning to you thank you foreign thank you foreign thank you foreign [Music] a lot of girls it's hard again Sally Thompson on the draw Megan Megan Borno and Kenna Marino on the circle and they are off so far here we go back to number nine foreign [Music] comes back out again I'm putting some pressure on they can move some people around ball hits the ground [Applause] yeah it was uh at the end of the day that was um yeah number six and then with the wide open alley Thompson underneath and she wasn't going to be denied or East Longmeadow Megan morno now taking the draw Addie Jordan on the circle [Music] [Applause] he's moving and they're going to do a reset here all right what happened they've got to put a body on her here looks like Kalia Weiss is gonna do just that Minister's gonna set up really good speed there by santoshi the Jeff defense got that quick too yeah really you gotta really like the hustle there to get back on defense [Music] defense Leominster really just trying to find that cutter looks like there would be one and there is oh another one this one is gonna make its way out of bounds but Minister did a good job possession you know it's only affordable lead the Lemaster is being pretty patient still yeah there's a lot of time like left and left in this half 22 minutes for 22 minutes remaining there I mean they're really you know it's clear to me what leominster's play is they're they're looking they're looking for a putter um and they're they were very successful early on with that strategy but East Longmeadow kind of tightened up its defense and then putting a little more pressure on those Cutters they're making those passes a little bit harder to be successful but I really do like leominster's off-ball movement I agree to put in the lane too what's happening some of the defenses a good forcing offbound shots right there yeah I mean a good I will say a great play there by Santucci I mean she was she was double or double covered police and she was able to then get that left-handed we had an opportunity that one shot up from there oh nicely [Applause] and she is [Music] tall person [Music] looks like it's gonna be you know that's the one of the things [Music] Megan [Applause] again save there by Jenna Hawley number nine past Megan morno and had an opportunity she took the shot only saved it they've only got it out of her stick right away as Mormon was running down the field didn't say better myself Jeff exactly the same thing well Mike that's why you're in the mood good thing we think a lot yes what am I thinking right now uh you're thinking that you'd love to you're thinking about the rainbows nine four East Longmeadow Spartans 20 minutes remaining oh yeah all right I like it I like it I like the aggressive play there by Leominster I mean they're showing that they've got a little spark and a little fire coming again this time though Leominster is kind of set Leominster is set up on our setup so we're going to take a little bit of time here okay Jordan with the ball up tops now over to senior Bridget Jordan's got it East London really appears to be taking your time right now I'm heading Jordan over uh really taking your time all right I mean really right there beautiful dish there by Bridget Jordan had an opportunity who looked like he was going to do something with it good play there to keep it alive awesome oh almost did a lot of activity but I do like I do like the patience he had an opportunity there but just a little bit of a follow through so she's gonna yeah two minutes in our proverbial yellow chairs here so we'll see if um Leominster can get their offense going here now that they're a woman up for two minutes [Music] early will be on the sidelines for two phones you change the gameplay I do think at this point they're down five goals what [Applause] [Music] um now they're two women now this is really a little bit [Applause] my Mr Golden number 12 Gabriella I mean this is really if the down is really gonna be yeah [Music] Moses calls a timeout to really set up some type of plan or uh for being too it's a great call too yeah yeah wow all the timeout the settings [Music] down in the field referees have done a very good job tonight for the most part I think is great appropriate got our athletic director down there on the field great job gonna happen oh yeah [Music] got some energy [Music] [Applause] [Music] that's going to be a dangerous shot in a yellow car so another yellow card coming number one Emma Miller Ayala with a yellow card on another follow through this is a very physical game very active very aggressive towards the crowd s well I mean this would have been this would have been the opportunity to do that that is what is possible [Applause] 10 seconds [Music] I don't know um [Music] South Carolina oh my God that's probably [Music] it's been a good look there by Bridget Jordan was looking for new things that he was a good look a little bit of a tough try to set up the ride [Music] Our Stars oh my God [Applause] including websites like we AK Game Changer in terms of momentum Allison fans are you can see some of the lacrosse dads with their arms crossed heads and legs bouncing not happy about that whatsoever yeah we got ten six at least more metal 14 minutes and 45 seconds remaining let's go foreign [Music] number nine um [Applause] number 12.

yeah I mean definitely whole game um [Music] thank you right now yo [Music] stay away [Applause] all right here [Applause] tomorrow short here he laughed right through the Stick of the cutter [Music] down the field [Music] [Applause] [Music] s [Applause] to ride pressure on right here instead of 10 minutes foreign [Music] Jordan [Music] oh there you go shot everybody yeah moving around [Music] what nobody else [Music] eight minutes [Music] long Meadows offensive possessions have really slowed down down [Music] and defend them try to open up that middle I've really seen that all year raw Megan [Music] I'm sorry and uh yeah [Music] anything happens [Music] it wasn't too bad you hear some stuff from the fans wasn't too too bad [Applause] [Music] tough pass right there a little bit too high not sure Chase for a stop here yeah I'm amazing well it looks like it is [Music] Emma Miller [Music] Leominster take each time down five goals with six minutes remaining they're taking their time they're working for that open putter right there it was and there it is going to be an eight meter opportunity for Leominster number nine by the way it's always a challenge thanks I I almost did it to Mark macaroni he does a great job every game when I do commentate that I have a washer Lannisters home less nobody moved it was it was really odds mentioned that it must be true that he started early and listen up for a whistle and also see if that is [Music] imagine that yeah you can't have these enforced unforced [Music] for an opportunity foreign started [Music] he's got it she gets it over to Addie Jordan oh my God thank you that's exactly what you can't have happen right there just giving an opportunity do something she did leave very early on that shot intense defense really taking their time they just wanna they're gonna want to put this one in they've got somebody just kind of standing right in front of the ball they're waiting [Music] back to number nine Community being guarded by Alia Weiss and Anna Marino they're looking for a putter they're really looking for Santucci because [Applause] one possession where they just need to really just try to lock down forced turnovers [Applause] [Music] using her speed chasing her down too two of the fastest players I go is Hannah Marino gets it over maybe four minutes having a really good defensive really good defensive effort seemed a little bit unnecessary to have to put in that type of defensive stand all things being considered they've had it in the offensive zone keep it here [Applause] uses Frank uses her skill uses her power and her shot accuracy instrumental exactly another great individual effort there by adding Jordan 12 7 3 minutes and 29 seconds remaining coach Moses and Coach Mazza getting just getting a little bit excited if you think I believe it would be the first time East Longmeadow girls lacrosse has made its way to a state semi-final ever literally literally I'm not sure pick that one up and a timeout right there by coach Moses gonna set up the last three minutes of the game play [Music] yeah players complaining about it normally that's an area where coach Moses can really get you know it seems like an appreciating errors [Music] I think you know the officials here have done a phenomenal job okay throughout the game Gotta Give a big shout out to referees for all that they do it thank you [Music] except [Music] playing heading back three minutes left in the game [Music] bro we're gonna get a yellow card and really make that just about wraps it up I know a woman down right now with two women down with two minutes remaining you can see that they're upset but you can't blame her I mean they're just trying to find a way to find a way to get back um you know unfortunately penalty penalty was called and now they're going to be running down it just seems like he saw metals believe it I'm not so sure Coach line that shot there with two minutes remains I mean it was white out it was Italians he was really just trying to do ask the future to try to cause a turnover and get to get the ball back she doesn't have an ankle brace on it's like a basketball really just trying to do the best oh geez [Music] I'm gonna fight for that yeah a good fight back there oh [Music] Game Zone for sure on the absolute unforced errors and cause turnovers but all in all defensively what a real big turnaround from the first you know 15 minutes all right and then flurry just before halftime really it's a stage here look at the back of the video you're gonna see those three or four goals under two minutes [Applause] [Music] 20 seconds [Music] um [Music] but a gritty performance definitely didn't have their best stuff but they thousands away calories Calabrese throws the ball out of bounds three seconds remaining [Applause] models [Music] all right [Music] ladies [Music] in the beginning good morning [Music] thanks guys all right thank you thank you congratulations on a great season and I'd like to turn mobile determinaries attention to the center of the field to congratulate our number four ranked diesel metal sputters on advancing to the division two final four [Applause] please come to the middle of the field to receive your trophy and family [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] people Kevin [Music] okay that's it

foreign um foreign like that too um yeah I just say hi okay [Music] okay okay um [Music] he said he said no problem children my phone okay there's a connection is that it I don't know what is my historic Circle okay uh concerned many bird open ufd244 patrons whoever they sign up okay all right so we have we're lost they've been coming to create an items communication the way I receive thank you cards thank you and everybody read those to understand from the thank you cards are from next technology report okay let me go back to the Elementary report oh my gosh yes Donna thank you um okay so I was just a little I have a couple more challenges which was just um recycling um a pair of shortcuts like we really struggle with maintenance staff turnover insurance this year um finally the teachers that are willing to work in the after school program to feel certified Physicians it was also been a challenge so we do teaching people I like have a percent license there so that is good that we have some classified staff that will do that a step up for that program I have one concerned um just with extra duty pay going up and you guys talked about that a little bit earlier is like competition with our after school program because we have a certain dollar amount that we paid per our grand so that creates a competitive situation for future staff Recruitment and I'm not everybody win that battle I'm likely we right now have some pretty loyal staff but you know in the future and that's just it's a concern and then the last thing is there is really um there's a lot of talk you know it's a state assessment scores and funding that's kind of depending the high pressure right away again so I just think that when you know the states homeless on the curse for that and like if there's that need to perform it just that stresses teachers out so that's a challenge especially as we gain a lot of students throughout the year and if you haven't been under our instructions try to hold here I mean you know they have to kind of really like hear if you need not test her um so that's a concerning challenge too that focus and transition areas for the upcoming year like we're going to be implementing our new reading series we did start our letters training especially the fights back I think we're all excited about that it is a time commitment on staff I think at the end I think that's going to be very impactful we actually had one stop whenever that started that last year we just went out on our own to do it and has it's been the best days and times and she has shared a lot as she's learned throughout the years I do think that's going to be a real positive for us in helping reduce means we're really excited about the Wildcat Way in our building and so one thing I would just like to request as we get ready to move forward with that project her implementation is like we're ready to print some large visuals and I'm thinking maybe you're like some final posters so that's something you guys are willing to support to help us get that implemented the right way because if we don't implement it the right way it's never going to work so that's one thing I ever be seeking the support for um concern which maybe is less than at the time that I wrote this was the pickup and drop off challenges that we might have at the jail approaching construction but we met with them a week or so yeah the outlook on that sounds really good so I'm really excited about that now because it doesn't sound like it's going to be too intrusive on that and then another real positive just the library remodel I think is going to be really exciting um and then I know as Mr Marshall shared with the staff like you know like we'll have a plan to start updating some classrooms and can't help Victory and carpeting I think teachers are really really excited about that some of those rooms really do like when they put in their maintenance list at the end of the year like they're like the format is coming up and they go in there and look at one earlier like some of that it is time so that will be exciting as we move forward with some of those Capital Improvements the last thing that's on here I think I actually put it on handbook changes to the on here just I would like you guys and it can be a discussion point but um when we're having like 80 kids at the after school program that's already a lot for us to supervise and we have quite a few kids that stay that either have you know parents in the building that work or just some kids that order around and then like so like we usually play from like three 20 to a little bit before four and we go in and we do our instrument and then we come back out and the weather is nice from like five ten to five thirty that time especially um because when we're the kids that play right after school and several of them have supervision not all I'm not going to say at all but like we get a lot of kids um that aren't necessarily Des students and maybe middle school kids or you know there's kids in around town but they really don't want to follow our expectations and rules in a staff correct and they're like why not after school yeah you do I mean I just feel like we have a lot of kids already there maybe but just be best to just save the playground's not open to the public you know it's taxpayer dollars but like I would like us to consider maybe just that we could have signs it says like the playground tonight I've been taught for 5 30 daily because it's it's just more interesting supervisor we're already supervising a lot um I actually had some situations at the end of the year with kids that were lingering around these were some PES kids and like a parent called up and said like my kid's getting bullied on the playground and I like went back and watched film and like one kid was chasing another kid with a stick or a string or something and I mean those like you know when the secretary took the call they were like well there's not supervision if your kid isn't in after school which is true but it still happened on school ground so it still took me a long time to go back and watch the video so I don't know I just that's kind of becoming more prevalent so I guess I would just like to hear what your thoughts on Howard so you'll know who the kids so you'll be able to say you can't [Music] for quite honestly like so yeah she would do it during the school year or so like let's say it's August 1st and you don't prefer I mean like yeah Monday through Friday yeah something about yeah yeah unless you're just like we could begin in school or in the after school program yeah I could just put like you know yeah like Monday through Friday playground is closed the first like you would have a 5 30 daily I don't know I mean yeah I think you would put those on put that on the banner some of those banners yeah it's a sign of some sort that just oh letting them know till they could give information to their kids so somebody you can't go down and play yeah right yeah I totally yeah um on that Wild Kratt way for those like printing large visuals or whatever I know like the tangent Wolf Creek but like we Wolf Creek has donated like the printing of all the um programs for you know theater Productions and things like that I know that table so I still like working at life in the other show the other day delivers training like she used to build design like the larger well that's what I'm just saying [Music] no problem oh yeah I think you're exactly right when you say to roll out of that it's going to be done right yeah we have to like have I mean like if we don't have our official one the first day out it's not gonna work like so yeah yeah I mean I just want to make sure that we can support our Passover radio you know like I even have like some exchangeable forever it's not like confessing thing has been a concern last couple years been like I really want you to bring the bus down from the first day of school just be more intentional and teaching what we expect from kids and so that's what our plan is is just to make a schedule for the first day of like the classic programs in different stations and like having to resolve teach the expectations of the different very good insurance thank you for finishing up participating sorry technology uh I don't know if you want me to go over the list or of successes in that or however you thought of that um I do want to thank you all for your support this year as we've transitioned um we really I feel we really accomplished a lot we learned a lot this year was kind of in brief here this year was uh we've gotten great teachers and they do great things with technology so this year was a lot about our staff becoming comfortable in our new positions and learning the new stuff that we needed to do and so next year our our Focus will return to advancing our programs and Technology looking at our competencies and shorting their lives and coming up with new ways of integrating technology in the classroom working on better and increased professional development in that so um those are kind of big goals for us just we have a great staff and our technology area now took us some time we worked with Darla to make sure she had a replacement for the person we wanted to hire in our last position so it wasn't until January that we had that all in place but we appreciate having Selena join our staff and everyone moving around uh successes or email change has has been a positive and a lot of work for the positive our VM servers that's been amazing as it implemented the bulk of it implemented by June 1st and it's been I've noticed things just working quicker and better with it um we've had firewall training this year we've as part of our district and fiberboard we've purchased a Class C block of IP addresses this year which makes us independent of having to be with a a certain internet provider meaning that about a year ago there was a possibility had they not been bought at the shores us up and makes sure we don't depend on a company for that we've added last summer we added the elementary security as well as out of the bus barn and at the Belk and they also worked with us on the Vape detectors some of our other projects were adding additional Wireless out of the bus barn the bus cameras the video based scoreboards and the wrestling gym worked on e-rate this year and you learned how that program works and uh we were finally able this year Mr Marshall and I were able to finalize the rural utilities service grant that we had received and finally were able to bring in the the hundred thousand dollars that we had uh been awarded so as that Grant project finished up we were able to bring that in um so as we looked at 20 324 I kind of mentioned you our Focus will go back to improving our tech programs and our Integrations I hope to we've got a lot with letters this year and the new Ela resources that may not happen this year but in the next year or so I'd like to get back to S7 a mini conference it's been about seven or eight years since we last had one but it's basically a full day of Technology conference with seven to eight sessions uh each hour to hour and a half where staff choose those sessions say one out of ten and we bring in experts as well as our staff and do a lot of great technology training more movement to our Microsoft 365 with kind of each day we see more and more value and opportunities for file sharing and collaboration with that and kind of looking ahead and the summer 23 24 24 25 we all need to be looking at replacing Network switches and wireless equipment but we will be able to utilize 70 reimbursement through our e-rate funds for that and our antivirus that will expire in May of next year so they'll be looking at different providers this year we will not be continuing with our current Denver for anti-virus and so we'll be investigating several other sources or programs out there do we have any plans in looking at um additional cameras Etc as Jody talked about earlier that you know incident happened no we don't have cameras out there but and as we have this new Turf on the football field the baseball and the softball field I I think it's probably a wise investment to monitor our facilities and part of the problem with that does become an elimination issue too because we do not have lights on at all times out there so if it's a late night scenario that occurs and we may not have a very limited lighting there's security lighting around the baseball softball concession stand building but is it going to be enough to to deal with vandalism could we could put a security line or two out there just light poles like street lights and strategically plant those maybe between the two Fields but I again just don't know but it could it could be a possibility we actually do you have to improve yeah you could also look into a camera that automatically switches over to third world when the lights are dark yeah our our outdoor cameras do happen to a ram and so we do have that probably more of an issue and it's you know not a uh Instagram in surmountable um situation but uh probably more likely the the bigger issues would be the coal and the network connections to those locations um but definitely is something that we could be looking to look at so I think we should explore at least what about motion sensitive lights off until recognition just expenses guys I mean it truly is and then covering the vast I'm talking about football baseball softball field there's a lot of land out there that has been a lot of square footage to cover so again it's just it's all about money and cameras and so on and so forth but we we can look into those things I think it's worth it I mean even in you know as the entryway of the track or whatever if you have some damage and somebody walked in there at nine o'clock and you know the next day I'm sorry if it wasn't you but you're the one on camera I mean you know or whatever even some of those silly signs is this these films are being altered by aerial surveillance yeah yeah oh where's this at so definitely good yeah [Music] thanks Craig anything else for Craig superintendent support uh just again a very busy time this year I went into the Christmas hardware store the exam I said you're having a great summer I said well it's busy and they I think they think I get the summer off at times he was very busy incredibly uh busy time of the year in our central office staff's doing a great job wrapping up again starting ending the budget year starting a new budget year dealing with all the different things that are going on uh you know with the onboarding new staff and wrapping up reports for the state and and so yeah I just want to thank all of our central office staff for a lot of work that they're they're doing um not too long ago we did the Strategic plan with the staff board members patrons Bob was a part of that problem it was a part of that as well a number of people were involved we haven't had a chance to actually formalize and wrap this up you have a couple of documents there uh the first one I just want to look at and look in and they have to approve the first one uh Burlington usd2441 that is a simple one pager that we are I would like to try to go ahead and get this like printed and like poster form laminated for each classroom and that way that this is a reminder to our staff each and every day the things that we looked at and we discussed and we talked about with not only our staff our board members our community members we think are very important so having said that um I know you've had a chance to look over this we're a part of this planning process again that would be a focus area for us not only just this year but years to come on the reminders of things that we're looking to strive towards um that's that one doctor the next document um I've got one of them through questions on this document that we worked on well I appreciate that you brought it back at me because I attended the meeting and then you know like you said it was margin we had Britain come back we had Britain come back it just didn't quite work to have everybody here so we didn't really get a chance to fully go over the document again and uh I shared with you we'd be doing a backdrop at a later date so having said that this is the later date um I don't know if you have any questions about that one pager again it'd be a simple poster like every classroom every teacher has it this would be the focus area for our administrators to talk to our staff at the beginning of the year I don't know if you have any adjustments to that document or anything that you feel like again it can be a working document and we could we could adjustments later on next year if needed needed but I appreciate the collaborative effort that was involved with this uh this plan this process it was just good to have people together talking about what the future holds for us and what are what are things that are important for us so questions on this one pager well I think two like even revisiting it like mid-year or site councils reporting what you know this would be something good for site councils to monitor like Hey we're not doing whatever and what could we be doing to do that I mean I think and then reporting back Wednesday the administrators and I will be meeting our administrative Retreat we're not going to the Bahamas or anything it's going to Marshall's basement so it's just nothing fancy it's just nice collaborating talking about preparing for next year this will be a topic on our agenda to discuss we will in my in my mind what we do is there will be some pieces that I would want them to report on just a quick you know they have their monthly reports to you guys put in an item or two from the Strategic plan that they are that they're seeing in their buildings that are happening so it'll you're exactly right when it'll be a um it'll be a uh ongoing sharing piece that we will do with the with you as the board to uh just to kind of focus on the things that we said that we're reporting the Strategic plan any other questions or comments good good comment there this document again was just the final report this is what Britain shared with us I'm not going to go over everything with you because again you've seen it again this is what he put together you can have it to go back and refer to uh import docs as needed there's just some information from that report you want to continue scrolling um yes continue to go on these were the things and when we were talking about vision statement mission statements some key words and keys some key terms that kept coming up we were important to move on um and this was the readwork commission statement based on those key words the ones that kept coming up the scroll down just a little bit more when Britain did that word program the the words that are the bigger print were the ones they kept coming up so scroll back another Direction so Learners contributing those were the words that we put in in that vision statement when we're trying to con or that mission statement we're trying to construct it the words that kept coming up from the group and that's kind of what like you say what what we came up with if there's something you want to change from that we sure can just because those words kept popping up and we wanted to put them as much as much as possible but you guys may have some feelings of some other information you may want to you know may want to include there again your mission statement you kind of want to have somewhere that 20 word scenario you only get too long too lengthy but anyway questions on the mission statement anything so I think the Strategic plan posted the mission statements the bridge well the shorter one that just had multiple scores committed to developing each student accounting responses and lifelong Learners just but I like the one that's all strategic order you do okay and then that's fine that's fine we can use that that one as well okay yeah and then this was the strengths weaknesses opportunities and threats information that we did with those Post-it notes this was the summary of those of those day one activity that we did again I just leave that there for you for reference you can always go back and look at it we can go back and look at it as well as we uh you know go through next year and the years to come so um anyway continuing on that we might be getting towards the end yeah there's just a little bit more information here um from Britain's Britain's uh final report I don't know if you have questions or anything I do a little bit because I know we talked about so have we determined the responsibilities or at least we know that there is a project later on some other stuff we haven't done them with that yet yeah so those are planned sometimes I mean everybody's got enough water plate there but it may be a the administrative team as well as the board I mean all of us working together but I do like to call them the means of evaluation because you know we can sit here and listen to Jody say oh hey hell we read that yeah we meet that yeah we meet that and we go well we know you really mean it because we're just you know and so you know means evaluation so there's a tool that tells us how you need it and I think that was part of the shooting plan that's important that we do do that questions on anything else I would just ask if everybody was okay with Lucas's call ing Commission keeping the mission statements on the bottom one versus the one that was up there yeah so yeah the ones up there that was on the big screen that's the one that's currently on our USD 244 page that's what it lists you know you know succeed in life life and careers contributing Global community and lifelong leaders the Strategic plan actually adopts a different one so I wanted everyone to kind of be aware that if we approve that you're actually adopting the convention statement will change if you've got memorized by heart tell it to everyone you see it all's got to change the spinal it'll work trust me it'll work and you see on that strategic plan that one page where there's again a mission and a vision statement both nutrition do you support all that cool Administration support that change I don't think it's my car my keys are in mine yeah yeah I was wondering if you all supported this I mean it's like of course I know this was going to be you really want to do okay so um I guess we'll accept a motion to present the uh there is an emotions that we recommended action I'm going to adopt the USD 244 strategic plan um motion seconded all those little computers motion car 7-0 and one other item to discuss new legislation has allowed and I shared this with you in providing us on the school districts starting next year can pay board members for their service on the board that is legal that's up to you you don't have to but you can you can decide to or you can decide to leave it as it is a community service um they can be whatever you want within budgetary because one of the re honestly no joking aside one of the reasons is I just need we need to Christy and I are planning for budget for next year we need to know what to budget for a board member salaries if we are doing tests anybody else feel differently one of the things I did think I mentioned this to you Friday go to one of the people watching this really did not come just so you know it's not like they're a group of 50 school districts and board members went to legislators to to do this they're we believe that there were some people behind the scenes potentially that were trying to recruit board members for their boards to for reasons that may not be completely supportive of schools and so people that it could be uh I guess they I'm going to say against public schools might be willing to do a board member position if they were getting compensated for it and maybe they might not be on the board for the right reasons and that's another possibility too yeah but it wasn't like they were like it wasn't like there were 50 school districts that came to the legislators and said hey we want this to happen because we can't get more members than we went I wish they would vote on some other things I would agree I would and again just want to thank everybody board student staff Community First another Super school year and we are heavily heavy in preparations for next year with letters training and onboarding new staff and and facility improvements I'll probably give you a facility Improvement PowerPoint next uh next month just a lot of things happen and negotiations and the list goes on and on so we're very very busy questions board member items anybody the we didn't either discuss that I think in our previous from our previous meeting do we want to for the start of the school so yeah I think it's been successful previous I think Natalie would be more appropriate time with a larger turnover and staff to get everybody together in years past I think we did it what we did did we just actually we didn't do it last year was the year before because of anything right that other issue Traders thing also you haven't seen one of these right it's a like district-wide picnic before put some food brings everyone in it's kind of a get to know everyone it's new faces ministerial Alliance to help serve the food side dish we provide the I mean I liked it because then and then the grown-ups can talk and it's a bigger area air conditioned inside air conditioning it's really hot or so the only thing is if you do the 14th I know that it could conflict with some personal Sports no yeah we we don't I'm just saying that's from 14 so we some you want to do something the tattoo is the one I was actually looking at myself being made well I understand that we should do that because yeah I think it would be nice because we have a lot of new faces yeah so I always like to text anybody anybody see any conflict right now yes I will yeah okay um next month policy review we're gonna have to have a hearing for one of the policies that we're gonna have to adopt from legislature if there was a I don't know which one it was but they told us the policy and then they said we have to have a hearing for it I'll do some checking and see in my channel I think it's a whatever that they're just figuring it out but also there's some confusion that I wouldn't mind reaching out to our local Representatives if they would like to maybe attend the next board meeting and explain how they thought we were going to implement these laws that would have lost great um I don't see how some of them can be done but my dollar they're looking for Andover field thank you we'd reach out and at least get maybe some help and direction if they thought it was necessary to have it so a number of the the and just so you know there's a weekly Zoom media attend superintendents um throughout the state actually um through Green Bush Greenbush facilitates that there are a number of these policies you should talk about are being discussed in that meeting and that can the kasb ksde are both helping to develop that policy piece for us to look at they will create a framework and then you can we can tweak it as as needed so one of them for example would be the attendance limit policies because we're having to put that in place by January 1 of 2024 so that's Midway through the school year we don't have to create attendance thresholds that's something that we're actually going to talk about Wednesday at our administrative Retreat we have some framework in place that that they are sharing with us from from again from Greenbush to superintendent's form as well as kste and kasb and they said just we're constructing some more specific information that's coming so um yeah all right yes and budget Workshop Christine I'll be attending the yearly budget Workshop they are going to be preparing information at the budget Workshop to share with us in regards to a number of the policies we are part of the budget Workshop is actually a policy emergency recognition is one of them has a big red type page that says manage we're meeting before this so um has to do with housing students from overnight stays and stuff um yeah we may like I said we may have to do that so the 10th first of the month Maybe but yeah it's just a and as far as I thought we could have that hearing right before the board of things anybody else has anything more than the course uh I would just like say I it's nice to see the concrete repairs and stuff going on throughout the organization that just it just shows I mean I think we're keeping up with things and looking at this okay move on to budget yes this is standard information that we've shared with you in the past and again there's nothing really new other than some of the dollars and cents of everything I'm not going to read through all of those word for word but uh you can see the full state aid uh base a for student Excellence is going up next year up to 5088 per student up from 48.46 there's some other information there categorical AIDS slightly for next year by about so it looks like a thousand one hundred and fifteen dollars somewhere in that neighborhood there's just some information there that if I say that Christy and I have been working on uh together in preparation for close out of a budget you're starting a new budget year um and taking care of just all those details that we need to do you can see the summary from the years past again those are the three recommendations that we make to you moving forward in again preparing that budget and right now in recommendation two it looks like the state is going to be at that local option budget 31 State average remember last year was the year before it was 30 percent it when the state average went up by one percent that's the first time in my seven years it has actually gone up and it looks like it's going to remain the same per our conversations with ksde budget staff that it'll stay the same at 31 if it would for some reason go up to 32 we'd want to go to 32 go to the state average and leave uh continue with that state average but again only if it does increase questions on this budget information again you've seen this before so the special ed it said it's increasing that the amount says 2023 is thirty thousand .

superintendent and I'm very proud from our staff I welcome our members of the community parents and students are watching and I want to thank you please follow up and if you have any questions post them on Facebook and we'll be happy to answer them as well the purpose of um not only to introduce a very special person but also to thank them to think a couple of members of the community that have supported us during this process I would like to take a minute to thank Miss Tanya Sudan Miss Sudan has served not only as a teacher but also as an administrator for being part of this excruciating process on May 26th we had the first phase of the interview on May 29th we had a community Forum in which staff and members of the community had the opportunity to ask questions directly to the candidates and continue to find more about them once we had all that information the candidates to move forward I had the opportunity to meet with the governing board for another round of questions and based on all of the process we are here proud to introduce Miss Edna Levi so at this point I want to ask for a big hand for our candidate Ms Leiva that has now formally our new principal for Baba Kiri Middle School in high school part of the process that we're going to have today and I'm going to let Ms Leva introduce herself not only in person but also she has put together a video to for the community and for everybody to get to know a little bit more about human labor is where is she coming from and where she heading so this poem is Leva please if you don't mind introducing yourself come on give it our hand thank you and I am proud to be standing here as the principal of the secondary campus because that's where I started in 2014 when I first came out here and I won't repeat what it says in the video but I came out here in 2014 as a special education teacher I worked with some of the members that are in the audience right now and then I moved on to become a school Improvement specialist it took me a while to leave the classroom because I wasn't ready I loved being in the classroom I loved being in the full four walls of a room and building relationships with students and I often heard people in leadership say oh you still develop those relationships it's just in a different capacity and for those of us that were in the classroom and have been in the classroom we all look at them and went mm-hmm however I'm here to testify that that is true I am still building relationships with students I'm building relationships with more students because it's not within the full walls of a classroom but I am very very excited to get started and kind of be back to what was my home for many years so I hope you enjoy the video teacher here at bible key very secondary in 2021 I moved to the intermediate to be a coach and then the following year I became the assistant principal and have been there up until now all principals are tasked with creating strategic plans for their school the one for Bible kiburi's secondary campus was already created by Miss sudam and the administration team prior to my arrival a quick summary of that plan includes continuing to build on what we've already created with lesson planning with making sure that we are creating engaging and fun lessons for our students it means continuing to grow fluency in math and reading for all students and moving forward creating professional learning communities where teachers can use data to help them determine what they will be doing next in their lessons all of this again is for the goal of reaching 80 percent of our students making 70 or better Mastery level and creating 90 attendance for all students in all grade levels as the principal of the secondary campus there are three things that can be expected from me education transparency and building of relationships all three of those are needed in order for us to create an environment in which the culture is embedded in education our culture at the school needs to be around education while still supporting the culture and the language of our students parents Guardians and community members can expect that we will build a line of communication that goes both ways from the school and to the school teachers can expect support they can expect modeling and they can expect administrators in their classrooms helping to support the learning for the sake of our students and students can expect an educational environment in which they will be able to grow their mind grow their education [Music] thank you [Applause] learn from his labor at this point I want to open it up for our members that are present here today what would you like to either ask Miss Leyva regarding her plan or extend your support feel free to come forward or I'll take the microphone do we have a second microphone no we do not so at this point feel free to come up and extend you either your support or have questions for Ms Leiva honey I'm Robert Russell I am a long time teacher at the high school I am proud to be here at this member of this school district and I'm proud to say that my friend Edna Leyva is is a good choice I'm just I'm I'm here to I'm here to support um I've known her for a long time she knows our kids she knows our community she has been with us through some very tough times and she keeps coming back and that's uh that's powerful the consistency is King and she has been a consistent educator asking any of her students she is very consistent and you're going to get things done and you're going to get them done right she's kind and warm and smart as attack or as sharp as attack smart as a whip I'm not sure she's a she's an excellent teacher and I'm sure she's going to be an excellent administrator for us when she says she's going to communicate she means it in the in the interview process one of the things that she said that I loved and she just came up with it on the spur of the moment that she had 30 seconds to think about it she said that our community days how about we ask the communities if they'd be willing to host our event we'll bring lunch if and I thought that would be a fantastic idea if we could actually go out from the school and visit communities I only miss labor would think of that it's a wonderful idea um I'm just here to support and um [Music] it's going to be an excellent Year we're looking at new things it's going to be wonderful thank you so much thank you now I just wanted to add that as the board member we are here to also support you um I know that you know I know I've known you for a while um and I was trying to remember you too because I know that we uh you had my their older brother who has been out of high school for the last three years and I know you know we've had to meet with you for his um for his English class I think it was yeah but you know I was asking my granddaughter I think just yesterday do you know what your schedule is for next year so I was wondering and I thought in the in the past we would have schedules for them you know or know what classes they would be taking you know their following year and the schedules ready their schedules would go out to them early instead of on the day that they come to school um so that the parents know you know these are the courses and get whatever they need for those courses for them so that's something that I kind of wanted to um suggest I guess more or less so great question and great request um Miss Levon I know you receive a very long long list um of some of the things to follow up on including schedules can you share what is going to be different moving forward regarding schedules and what can parents expect and students expect when it comes to schedules for the next school year starting the end of next school year so unfortunately I I don't know giving them out yet obviously I I just started but I can certainly find out for you but moving forward which is where we're going to move forward now is we will have schedules for students prior to the end of the school year we can have meetings with grade levels my understanding is that the counselor can go in and help students select their electives for the following week or for the following school year excuse me in order for that to happen though we we need to already have in line who all those teachers are going to be and I believe that was just recently finalized so it's not a matter of not creating the schedule it was a matter of making sure that we had the teachers in place Mr Russell mm-hmm and the state isn't making any adjustments for us so we need to create more opportunities for kids to get to their graduation goal but that also means that we're now having to offer new courses and so on we were just we only just about finalized us that we were going to happen everything's been influx we will get them to you as soon as possible thank you who would like to go next before you raise your hand and I would like to acknowledge uh to the members of the community that we do have a quorum right now present and I would like to acknowledge that we do have three board members and by law we have to acknowledge it so we want to thank also a third member Miss greenswood thank you for joining us today and be part of the Forum and we do have another comment or another question for our principal um Miss Levi I just want to say congratulations on your new appointment as the secondary site principal and I am really truly looking forward to your ideals and um one of the things that I really would like to see not only as a board member but as a as a parent is that our our families um really take education seriously especially at the high school level because when we look at our mission statement and our our core values it really does talk about getting our children prepared for the outside world whether it's going straight to work or at that higher education level and I think um that is really what I would like to see as a parent um as a board member I'd like to see that um there is communication when students first come into the school um especially when they're freshmen and for them to understand that there's somebody there to tell them how important credits are and not only to be there as in attendance which Ella always um has her has her um her chair ready to make sure that when we get that 90 percent uh attendance rate that she's there cheering we're all cheering that on but not only to be there on site but to really work hard to become educated and I think right now it's it's that's something that I'm looking forward to and I I really I really think that that parents need to really understand that part and I don't I I'm I'm looking forward for your new ideas and now that you're you know you've been coming from the um they're coming from the intermediate site and you know how enthusiastic um our kids are and all of that fun that they're having and I really hope that it's it's gonna happen there at the secondary site so thank you for applying for the position and congratulations thank you thank you for that great comment and these leads to a little commercial uh for this year and I want to take advantage to share and advertise our goals uh to our parents how do you know your students is in the right direction and if we are on track what we're looking for for our parents our parents also looking uh through our uh media platforms eighty percent of our students they need to score 70 or better so when you get the report card please double check if your students are scoring 70 um then you make the time to see how you can make it to 80 to 90 to 100 percent secondly you don't have to wait for a report card anymore uh one of our goals that we're going to have this year as an institution uh in as a district we want 90 of our families to have access to the apparent portal that is going to be the minimal expectation and we want our parents to not not only check on a daily basis how's the attendance on a daily basis what is the percentage of assignments turn in if you don't see assignment it is a good time to pick up the phone or pick up the or turn on the computer and send a quick message and say hey what's going on how can we all support having said that because those are our goals if you don't mind expanding Ms Leiva um how uh what are what is the support that you need from our parents so they can read our students can reach 70 or better Mastery and ninety percent or better um in attendance what support do you need from our parents that way they can be our partners in education thank you for the question um earlier today I was meeting with my administrative team Ms croscob and Mr Russell and Mr Russell said something that I knew but I just never really put it into words in order for our students to sit on this stool of Education there needs to be the a minimum of Three Lakes to support it the parents the teachers and the school and if we don't have those three pieces they're not going to be able to to balance it out so what you can expect from me is the the tenacity to continue that communication and I say tenacity because I have been a teacher in Tucson and I have been a teacher here and we all know that there are parents that will answer our phone calls and then there are parents that won't they'll listen to the message and then call us back when they are able to we understand that parents and and family members and Guardians are busy but I promise that we're not going to give up after the first time we're going to continue with that tenacity because that's you're you need to be part of that program with with your students and if we aren't reaching out um I I would gladly love for somebody to call and say hey I don't feel that I'm getting enough communication let's sit down and figure out how we can make sure that we are passing along that community education because what my ideas are Miss cross Cobb miss ansay Mr Russell or anybody there we can come up with ideas but they might not always work and so if we can make sure that we're working together to create those communication lines and keep them open they're not always going to be pretty I understand that but as long as those lines continue to be open that's what I can promise you on our end thank you and to piggyback once again another commercial we have modified the report card so high school parents you will get red flags uh you will see a little bit different it will let you know when a student is on track or is not on track please take a look if you have any questions please reach out to either the counselor the assistant principles or the principals to address any questions that you may have something else that we're doing differently is for this school year we will continue to have not only Credit Recovery we're going to have to all enrollment but we're also going to have a required tutoring and credit recovery for some of our students we want to close a gap and we want to include increase now the number of students that will be ahead and take advantage of dual enrollment and they continue to get the same Credit Recovery credit to get ahead that way we can continue to close the gap and to empower our students um any other questions before yes thank you thank you thank you comments questions thank you sir for raising your hand what comment do you want to tell Ms Leyva good luck hey that goes a long way good luck because what can she expect from the students for them to work hard but I love the attitude thank you thank you thank you um another comment another question Miss chriswood that much uh congratulations again and um I just wanted to say that uh my grandson TJ has two boys at the high school one's going to be a senior and one's uh junior I think it's Junior anyway um I've been telling them about their credits you know that make sure they have their credits and because we don't want them to be short and at their senior year and and go to school and listen to your teacher I mean we say that to all our kids but we don't know how they act when they get to the high school and um and um and I also like to have that counselors being more involved with the students and make sure that then I mean I'm I know Ms grandler was there and uh and she was always um on that she looks at their their grades you know and she will call them in and hey you need to work on this you know and um and then about reaching out to her parents and um he was that's what of course you have phone calls and then then you can also follow up with the letter you know know that you have those backup information and the student is filed and um you know that's what I would like to see have the council work with the students and make sure they have all the credits and um it is true that you're supposed to have those credits before the school starts I remember when we get to when I was in high school we always had a choose our credits and everything you know our selective so I don't know why it's not happening at the high school and uh so I just want to I think we're going in the right track with uh our superintendent I I mean we I I see it you know even even before it became a superintendent and uh so he's doing great and I really appreciate I really really thankful that he's he's here working with our students so um I think the board members for being there for our students and we're trying to do our best you know for our kids you know but we want them to excel we hear about all these um other uh Indian Public School in the Navajo reservation they're getting their newspaper and they get these Awards they get and it's not happening here at our school I don't see it I don't see perfect attendance either you know so that's my comment thank you Mr griezman thank you for your comments and thank you for raising out a bar in the status quo um we are working and we're looking forward to collaborating with our family in the community we look forward to other year to set up also a couple of community planning meetings so we can all see what are the priorities of our community we want to take advantage of our schools and especially at the high school uh to be able to see as a community what would be some priorities that we can all attack including not only attendance not only uh uh substance abuse not only support needed for social emotional services for our students and for our parents but we'll have the opportunity to come together as a community now we know the bar we know 80 percent of the students will score 70 or better and ninety percent of our tenants and that's going to require a lot of um support for my parents knowing that those are the goals and those are some of the expectations Ms leyba can you please elaborate and share what can I experience expect the first quarter and moving forward what is going to be different about the school now under your new leadership what are they going to start to see not only although in the first quarter but before school begins what is it that you that they can expect from you that they will see the difference under your leadership so under my leadership I when I was in the classroom I I had high expectations for my students now that I've left the classroom remember I said it took me a long time to finally decide to leave the classroom I always thought there's no way that I can that a school can run like we do in a classroom however that's the same expectations that I had in my classroom I will continue to have with the my staff so that they can have them for the students so some changes that you're going to probably hear about is that classroom management is going to be one of the top priorities teachers can't teach and do all these wonderful engaging lessons if they are not able to manage the classroom and I don't mean just coming up with lessons that are Bell to Bell I mean having procedures in place for when somebody needs to leave the classroom how how are you going to know when they come back because if you heard in my Forum safety is number one and if you want to hear me get passionate that is where I'm going to get passionate the safety of our students is our number one priority so that we can then teach them because none of that can happen if our students don't feel safe and it requires a teacher that is comfortable in the classroom enough to say this is my classroom these are the rules and procedures for your sake but they still need to be in place so you can expect that we are going to have classroom management training we're going to be working with the teachers we're going to be in there coaching them I'm going to be out I'm going to be out I'm going to be out there I don't I have a little pack that I carry with me that I started here at the intermediate where my radio and my phone come with me and I'm out on on the campus as much as I possibly can again like I said before I know I can't be out there all the time but you can expect presents our presents we're going to be we're going to have teachers standing at the doors and greeting the students all of those typical things that we know work they work they work for our students so you're also going to be hearing from us a lot because we're expecting a lot from our students but we're also going to be making those phone calls home to get your support because again we know we can't do it by ourselves so you can expect more phone calls and communication in any way shape or form that we can get it to you we have social media now we have emails we can send letters we can start with make making a simple phone call and if we can't get a hold of you call every number we have until we finally get a hold of somebody because again what you can expect from me is the tenacity and making sure that we're building these communications if you were a parent during the pandemic you got texts from me you got emails from me I even remember telling parents I'm so sorry to bug you once again and I had one mom say don't apologize do not apologize for communicating with me about my student it there's no such thing as too much communication and I as a parent feel the same way I will never get tired of hearing from my son's teachers because we need to be a team and so those are the things that you can expect for me in the first quarter those are the things we're going to be focusing on because if we don't get that down packed it doesn't matter what fun things we do after that our students are not going to be able to learn hmm personal another commercial I'm I'm going to challenge our community I'm going to challenge our parents and I want to challenge um everyone that is listening that our students they have the option to make choices but they don't get to choose the consequences I what I want to emphasize that our students by the time they leave high school I want us to work together let's the students choices be an opportunity for us to connect with our students choices to see that we both care and the both of us working together we're going to use that not only to grenade but to reset the future let's not the student choices separate us let's use our students choices to bring us together either to celebrate them or to reset their mind so we can make sure that they are on the right track I'm inviting and I'm going to challenge all of my parents I every time there's a a a call that is coming in either to celebrate let's use it to connect it but if it's not a welcoming call let's sit down having our kids future in mind so that we can use that opportunity to reset priorities to reset values and to reset and emphasize our human dog next common question thank you Miss Vance um I'm really glad to hear that one of the things that I would like to see um this coming year is that our students are so um very much encouraged to apply for scholarships to look forward to uh not only those those choices those decisions on education but those things here in the school are going to help when they get to that higher institution so that means taking time to study taking time to to really think about where they're at in the classroom because once they leave the campus and once they graduate they're basically on their own in that higher education whether it's higher education or in the working field and so those things are really important that they start looking at that but I would like to see more scholarships that more students are encouraged to apply for scholarships I also I also like hearing about the um the fact that the reaching out is going to happen and I like what you said about not waiting uh for those grades to come out um if the staff already notices that there is these things happening that the parents don't know about to to reach out and make that contact because so I'm really looking I I really really am looking forward to this new year and I'm really um I'm just so glad that you're gonna be you're gonna be there at the site I I really looking forward to the new year so thank you thank you Miss bird cell thank you missing him thank you good afternoon everybody congratulations Miss labor um no I forgot what I'm gonna say thank you so much Mr Diaz um for the smooth transition um I think it's very settling for the staff at the high school that when we come back we have our principal that's already been working and and planning for the next school year so thank you for that and this labor we've been together for so many years and um you've seen what works you've seen what doesn't and I think that's a really good thing when um you will be the leader because you know exactly what where do you want the school to be um and also we're so excited because we have the best of both worlds your General Ed you have deeper understanding special education so that's really a plus for for us so thank you um another thing is um one thing that I just just come to mind is the being intentional on what we um the classes that we provide our students I think it's important that we provide them with the courses especially elective that will lead to the career that they want to do after high school and hopefully you know we will be on the table and talk to the administration and you know you guys have to oh the administration have to talk to our ESS team and and and really see what the students want to go after high school and put them intentionally to those elective classes thank you Miss Leyva you are coming to us at a very exciting time because we just had a very exciting year of Sports at BHS and at Bobby Middle School I'm telling you and go cougars it was exciting uh could you address some of the issues around eligibility which are going to come up in in a very positive way because academics come first and for many of our students sports are the the gateway to academic success um so I'm I know that you were always a uh a stickler for eligibility back in the day and if you might want to say a few words about that it's going to be a we're going to have a wonderful basketball season we're going to have a wonderful football season I think we're back with volleyball again this is going to be great and I'm really looking forward to this year's baseball team in the spring after after what the middle school did this last time perfect perfect season [Applause] thank you Mr Russell so when Mr Russell says that I was a stickler he is not kidding I I was the teacher that um the coaches would have to come in and say what can we can we student and I have as a teacher I had no problem having that conversation so long as the student understood what the expectation was so I wish I could tell you a a blanket response and say all students are always going to have you know a c or a B but it's not always going to be that black and white but I do want everyone to know that for that first level the expectation is going to be that you have C or better and then because we're going to have an open line of communication with the parents working with the parent and the student and the teacher so that they can get to where they need to be so that they can play the sport because I I come from a background with a single mom there were three of us girls we all played Sports and then my little brother came along and my mom was a single mom from the time that he was five years old so for him and he will say this over and over again what saved him was the fact that he played football and that the coach held him accountable even to the point where he would call my mom and say hey if he doesn't take the garbage out call me I'll make him pay for it on the field so I I see both sides I see that our students need the sports because we all are going to agree that there are many students that only show up because they want to play on that basketball team because they want to play football how do we how do we take that and manifest it into a better education for them and the answer is always going to be all of those people sitting down at the table so initially the expectation is going to be that all students need to have a c or better in order to play you you are here first and foremost as a student and then as an athlete for some students it's simultaneous and then so what I can promise you is that we're going to have that expectation but that if we if we need to sit down there will be an open line of communication but I need everyone at the table it can't just be me and the teacher it has to be me the teacher and the parent and the student because without all of us at that table we're not going to be able to make the right decisions for the student foreign thank you thank you great amazing uh Clarity and response I'm gonna use that as I said way once again we're taking advantage of this form not only to introduce Miss Leva but I also want to be jumping in and then create a couple of commercials so bring Clarity when it comes to the district and I want to challenge our parents um we want to raise the status quo if we want our students to be number one in sports why can we expect the same in academics they're both equally important and they're both open Windows of opportunities for our students we can have a great athlete that is going to get scholarships but if they don't have the skills needed to survive at college level we have failed our students we're not here to for our students to struggle we are here we only have 12 years to set the next 50 years of their lives what can you expect as a district we will be a strong bridge to get him from point A from point B but nevertheless as a family as a community we need to make sure that we build structures on the other side of the bridge so they are solid are still and flexible um as water so that they can navigate their life I'm challenging parents it's if if for us to raise the status quo and work and collaborate again now you have a teacher on the spot by checking your parent portal if we want our students to be successful continue to check the parent portal if you don't know how contact your parent liaison contact your counselor contact the administration at your school so you can have access and monitor um their work and their attendance on a daily basis don't wait until the day before they have to play if a sport is also a priority it's then we need to monitor the progress on a daily basis what can you expect from the district there will be opportunities for the students to get the support they need after school and within the school to be successful take advantage of those opportunities and be part of the challenge be part of the answer working together will make sure the students make it through the bridge and have a solid future another common question from the audience sir yes they're free thank you here's one more um just because we're getting on here I wanted to take an opportunity to give you a moment to to speak to to everyone um would you please say a little bit about what your core values are as an educator I know we've asked you this before uh but I think it would it would be helpful to hear it from you and the other the other question that I liked your answer for was uh what are your non-negotiables for student behavior and how do how do those two things dovetail together your core values and what's and what's at the base for base level for uh for all students um so that our students can be loved encouraged and prepared to Take On the World with our hymnog so that's a two-part question your core value and the second one I hear no negotiables but what I hear more deeply is your recipe for success for students can I have 30 seconds on the clock so my might use are combined with my core values as a human being outside of Education it's relationship building if we can't build relationships with our students in our classrooms then why are we here because nothing we say will make sense now I say that knowing in the classroom I your teachers don't connect with every student in the class that is unrealistic I understand that but as long as there's someone in the building that those students can make a connection with sometimes that's all they need and then you know helping that student communicate with that teacher that for some reason they weren't able to build that that relationship but so building relationships is very very important for me transparency I cannot stress enough how important it is to be transparent with anyone people you work with people at home just as a brief example when I applied for the job at for the secondary I was open and honest with the staff at the intermediate because we have built such a great relationship if you've been on on the campus at the intermediate there's a great energy and and we we almost always said this is our other family so I really I sat down with Miss Begay Lewis and and we talked about it and finally we came to the conclusion that we needed to share with them that I had applied because again for me transparency is very important I didn't know you know what the process was at the time other than I had thrown my name into the applications and I wanted them to know that because rumors can start anywhere and so they were there I wanted them to know I applied for the job and you know here I am but I I tell you that story because I want you to understand that when I say transparency is important it is important I I'm not a good liar if you know me I'm not a good liar it shows on my face so I have to be transparent by you know God made me that way he will not let me lie even if I wanted to so um and if I can't share information with somebody for privacy reasons then I'll let them know that I can't tell you what that is um but I can but I can share this with you so those are the the two of my core values and third I wouldn't be where I am today if it wasn't for Education if it wasn't for that one teacher when I was in high school that saw this quiet shy girl sitting in the corner and he came to me and said how would you like to run to State office for deca and I literally still remember standing there and going he's talking to me because I was so quiet you wouldn't know that from knowing me now but it was because I became a member of deca I I learned how to do public speaking we it was kind of forced on us but now I'm looking back on those skills that I learned in that classroom have really helped me build to where I am right now but I wouldn't be here without the education and so our students need to know that it it can't be more important than it is it can't be more important to us than it is to them but we need to help them see why it's important and bringing in the community building those relationships having people that they know former students coming back and talking to them about you know what I wish I would have known this when I was in your your seat and seeing the reality because they can hear it from the adults all day long but if they're hearing it from someone that was just in their seat a year ago or two years ago I think that makes more of an impact so those are those are my core values and then the second part of the question those are going to be my non-negotiables also students need to be in the classroom because if they're not in the classroom I don't know if they're safe so those are the non-negotiables that you can expect from me students at Miss cross Cobb and Miss Hernandez have come up with some really good procedures and policies that we're going to make sure still fit for us and we're going to continue to build on those because our students need to understand that we love and care about you but I need you in class so that that's the message that they're going to get I need you in class and then working with those teachers to create those lessons so that they don't want to leave as often they're still going to want to leave but they don't want to leave as often did I answer the question a couple ideas let's give her a hand thank you um we're getting closer to wrapping it up now when flying and and that thanks to your supporting collaboration and engagement in the process this is one of two forums we're going to plan another one closer in July and closer to opening the school year and I want to invite those members of the community if you like today's Forum like us on Facebook if you didn't like it and we have a better one plan for you in July so join us in July so you can see the part two or the Forum and I want you to once again use this opportunity to share our school district has a three-year plan in which you as a parent member of the community a student in a in in a family member have a part too so we can accomplish our goals in the next three years get to know our plan and to get to know the role in how you play a big part in achieving our goals um that we wrapping it up our first half semester of clearing the land which mean is we looking ourselves in the mirror to find and I was working and not working if we if you continue to see things that we can improve on take the time to contact your school leaders or even myself rubendia as your superintendent that way we know what's working and what's not working so we can collaborate in finding solutions that work for our students we also uh starting um a hybrid of cleaning the land as well as building structures and that one I'm going to need the support from everyone as we move forward into clearing the line and building structures you start to see some things that are different it's going to be more challenging in some ways but I want the support to for us to work together as we clear and put systems that may look harder but nevertheless if we all speak the same language and we all speak the same process we will continue to function as not only as an institution but also as a community I want to thank for all of our members of the community staff and students that are listening online thank you for your support I want to thank my board members for being present and continue to show that you're an active member of the community and that you care for my students and my staff thank you so much for starting a year with the right foot and we're going to hit the grounds um running congratulations on behalf of our staff parents and Community thank you for enduring I know you mentioned that you did not know the process if you wouldn't know the process I think you would have never applied so I'm glad that you guys endure through the process and I we once again we want to congratulate you and understand that we're not only happy for you but we also expecting a lot from you being uh Babu Kiri middle school and high school being the beacon for the community and one let's give you one more hand and one more round of applause to Ms Leyva and everyone have a great great evening and stay tuned uh make sure you look look on Facebook for our next forum and the next forum is going to take place at the high school for anyone that would like to join us we'll be more than happy to go through the same process and thank you everyone we look forward to continuously connected take care [Applause]
