first of all every certified staff member does need to have a rating Effectiveness rating at the end of the school year and all of you those ratings are highly effective effective Improvement necessary or ineffective and those in Crown Point schools are determined and provided by principals or supervisors we do have uh protocols for many of our certified staff teachers is the largest group but we also have protocols that are for our counselors for some of our Specialists such as for hearing behavioral and vision uh Speech and psychologists also media Specialists that that we have those uh Protocols are focusing on specific domains and they make up for us what we would say the professional practice component of our evaluation process in order to review the professional practice um minimal that uh every certified staff member has is observed twice we do desire for teachers that are brand new to the profession that they would be observed many more times than two times because they do need the additional support from the administration as well as from the mentors that they have and then we do have a number of teachers that come to Crown Point but they have they have experience so the next tier when we think about the number of observations would be those that are in Crown Point but have a big experience so you would see a number of more than two observations for those teachers so your highest level will be you're new to the profession then we want to be able to observe our teachers that are new to Crown Point and then finally we have those that have two or more effective or highly effective communities throughout during the past years and but minimally they would be observed twice we have three different types of observations that consider the first one is a formal observation which would start with a pre-conference with the administrator that then sets the tone for the stage for the uh the observation to occur uh unifies for the administrator what the lessons what's going to take place what the strategies are going to be used and helps prepare the the administrator to provide the appropriate feedback that would be a formal observation it concludes with a post-conference with teacher and or the certified staff member and the and the uh the principal so pre-conference observation post conference that'd be a formal informal would be coming right in off the off the street as we say that would be no pre-conference you walk come into the classroom we principle the director to stay for the course of the lesson that doesn't necessarily mean for the entire period what it means is to stay for that segment of the lesson so there's a beginning and end to that lesson there might be another strategy that comes after that but we want period of time where we can actually see the start of a instructional strategy to the end of that conclusion and see hopefully some type of formative assessment that takes place to see the students are working a third way of observations that comes into play is just collecting artifacts teachers can submit artifacts as well as principals administrators can uh ask for artifacts that have take that helps student s in addition to professional practice student achievement and growth can be used to inform the proficiency level of our of our staff our certified staff the main focus is not necessarily passing the test or passing a test it's growth so how do we determine growth to be able to see that our staff members are working towards helping students to learn as I mentioned we have three different types of staff that we focus on brand new teachers to the profession many years ago it was determined that we really wanted to help teachers to be successful in the in their first years and for those first-year teachers for those of us that remember that uh probably the biggest place that we want to focus on is classroom management adherence to rules helping relationships so there's a big focus in that area as well as targeting the right learning for our students so we've narrowed down the protocols to basically five different protocols that we really want to focus on which we believe gets teachers off to a good start when we come to the group that is experienced and but new to Crown Point we've identified about three specific things you know learning goals we want to be able to look informative assessment of our staff as well as relationships that they're building and then we also want them to continue their growth and they do a professional growth plan those things that make up the basically the observations that take place for our staff that are brand new to Crown Point as well as have experience and then we have those that have been with us two or more years effective or highly effective they do a professional growth plan uh but when a administrator comes into the classroom and observes them they are using the protocols and identifying those strategies that they are using and looking for those things that formative assessments the relationships and professional practice for um there is a requirement by the state of Indiana for uh if there is a teacher that is showing negative impact on student learning that that teacher cannot be effective or highly effective so the question becomes what is negative impact well it goes to growth so if you see someone a teacher based on the growth percentiles that we have that is that is really at a low level or they're significantly lower than other teachers in the district then that could be identified as a teacher without with a negative impact and we would be then looking at a as I mentioned we all all of our teachers that have experience to provide a professional growth plan and that plan is targeting the different protocols that are embedded within the their evaluation the goal is to look at something and identify something with your principal that you need that you would like to continue to grow in this is not just choose something that you're already good at but to really move ourselves forward and challenge ourselves to continue the growth in uh our professional practice and so every teacher does submit a professional growth plan it is reviewed by the by the if an intervention is necessary there is a outline plan that goes into uh to effect and it can be implemented immediately and it can affect the effectiveness rating of a teacher so that we're again trying and supporting our teachers to do the best they can we know that there's problems that do arise in with our with our address those and we process for that we're the only administrators and directors are those that are those that can Will observe so we do not have any certified teachers that are observers it's all administrators or directors that do that and um another piece of this that's a requirement we do fulfill all the requirements from the state of Indiana and what's really good we've never had ineffective teachers are not part of proud Point schools and therefore these this requirement notifying parents if you've been taught two years by an ineffective teacher we meet that by default because we don't have any ineffective the evaluation plan is posted on the website and it is presented to you tonight you to to hear answer give me any questions that you might have and then we are required to post it uh submit to the state by September 15th any questions or concerns with Mr Hartman thank you Mr Hartman that was a that was a terrific presentation I did have just one question you you had mentioned part of the evaluation of certified staff was based upon student growth percentiles what assessment is that based on well also do will receive some federal growth percentiles for I've learned those can be but the primary one will be at WEA when you get to 11th grades in 11 and 12 you're looking at the the courses within uh Buzz and how students are performing on those thank you so much thank you for your effort and that report Mr Harmon 5.04 director of Elementary education education Mr chiquina thank you Mr President and members of the board I am very appreciative of all the work our schools did to prepare for many new students and families with redis redistricting and new families moving to the building hosted some additional beginning of the Year events and transition activities including kindergarten kickoff popsicles on the playground and open houses to welcome new students and returning students to the new school year lots of teachers and staff members participated in all of those events which is very appreciated a lot of the planning a lot of planning and preparation went into these opportunities and they were very important to help our students and families get off to a great start especially those starting at a new school also I'm really proud of our teachers staff and leaders who amongst some different changes with construction and redistricting have definitely created safe engaging and supportive learning opportunities and environments for our students as I've spent time in our buildings over these first couple weeks it is very clear that our Learners our staff members and our teachers are working hard they're enthusiastic and they have lots of smiles and excitement to start the year thank thank you Mr shakina director of secondary education Mrs Ramirez president and board staff our and our teachers for all of their hard work in a successful start to the school year it was very exciting to be able to go to Taft and Wheeler's open houses which occurred last week and to see the families really engaging in at Taft the new building wheeler a lot of familiar faces and being very welcomed we have the Crown Point High School open house happening this Wednesday so we look forward to closing out our open houses at the secondary level I'd also like to thank the opportunity I think at the high school for the students scheduled to be walked by the parents so the parents will bring their child's schedule they get to meet their teachers and see what it's like to navigate the building and to become more familiar with the teachers with whom their student will be working with and part of that feedback that we've historically gotten is really how happy families are and students are that we have such robust course offerings at the high school that we're really able to meet the interests of our students we're constantly looking for new opportunities for our students to meet their post-secondary plans whether that's with new courses with extracurriculars we are very fortunate and very thankful to the board for your support of our students and their graduation pathway I'd also like to thank our members of our ell team who supported and created a summer enrichment program this summer Colonel wheeler was very kind to host us and so I think Jake Rodriguez and Dana Toriano for providing nursing support but we had 35 of our elementary students participate in what was called soar around the world and they had an opportunity in a very inclusive setting to get to meet other students they took field trips they did crafts they did readings that were culturally related so they really got to not only be valued and honored but got to learn about other students who they may not have had the opportunity to meet as this was open to all seven of our elementary schools so it was just a great addition to our summer course offerings and I would like to specifically thank Anna rutzlaff Fiona subtle Viola zarnowski and Cindy Anderson for their direct involvement in creating and executing this wonderful opportunity for our families thank you Mrs Ramirez 5.06 director of exceptional education Mrs pasquez good evening president Angel members of the board I want to Echo some statements of appreciation to our administrators teachers and paraprofessionals who helped make transitions to new schools easier for our students staff agreed to come in to the buildings additional times Beyond Bulldog rush to give our students and their families opportunities to walk through the new buildings whether it was Taft an actual new building or a new building to them because of redistricting and that just helped I think ease everyone's nerves and fears about the change I have to thank our two secretaries in the exceptional Ed Department Sean Don and Holly Hume who insured all of our new staff and existing staff had whatever they needed to get started you know we onboarded 17 certified staff over the summer that's in addition to our existing staff and then as you might have seen on the Personnel report there's 30 plus new para hires so I have to thank Kelly oost my assistant director and Andrea Avila our elementary coordinator and Christy dreschel our secondary coordinator who really handle all the para interviews and hiring so I want to thank them thank you Mrs paskus 5.07 assistant superintendent Mr G infermi well thank you Mr President board members um again I guess when you move down let's do have to Echo what's been said before you but just a big appreciation and thank you to our our teachers staff and administrators for launching a successful school year it's always difficult to launch it we throw a few extra obstacles in there and it's done an amazing job and kids are in classrooms in learning and that's what that's what it's all about so big thank you to all of them um also a thank you to our First Responders and in particular our director of Safety and Security Dave Coulson and Officer Jim polling for organizing all the EMA and police officers doing the traffic again is that makes me feel a lot better knowing everything that's happening out there that they're out there helping get people in and out of school on a daily basis and it's a pretty big project to do every year and they have that going well and that helped with the start of school and then 5 finally just a comment Friday night at the varsity football game and I'm not going to talk anything about the football game but I'm just going to talk about how great it is to be in a community when you have a fight against leukemia initiative going on and you look up in the stands and you see all those orange shirts I don't love orange but for one night we were able to put away our red and white and it's just it's great to live in a community that will come together for a good cause like that so appreciate everyone that participated in that as well thank you Mr Gene Fermi there's just something here I got to play here before the next one that's about as much technology that I can put through in one night well done but uh 5.08 Chief human resource officer Mr aquiwa I thought it was the most fitting everybody loved Mr Cotter right yeah Mr President or everybody I just thanks for thanks for that welcome means more than you know and I'm going to kind of keep going a little bit here because I think um if you if you sit and reflect a little bit on where we're at right now we're talking a historical window of time in the Crown Point Community School Corporation I mean I'm not sure we'll ever see anything of this magnitude when it comes to construction the organization reformatting things we're doing you're talking about redistricting the East Coast going K-5 that's no small move and just the expansion everywhere so from the HR standpoint I just want to on so many levels thank everyone for the team effort to staff ourselves so well in the midst of of what we're experiencing and I'm not kidding hats off to everybody you know on my uh in my absence too you know I don't want to get choked up here but I just want to thank everybody for everything they've done everybody put in a lot of extra time and wearing some new hats as well through the process but I can share that we have certainly staffed ourselves well when we start to look at our instructional staff and additional staff members that support instruction or work in concert with our teachers from a certified level and support staff we're in a very good place and I speak to HR representatives from individuals in in Lake County Porter County and other parts of the state and we are sitting very very well right now and we've got some folks we we always need to find and if I can move to the big four when I say the big four that's technology that's Transportation that's food service and buildings and grounds and listening uh chiming in with some of those folks Mr Molasky is fully staffed in fact he's built up his substitute pool dramatically this year so our buildings and grounds crew is in fantastic shape I think it goes without saying our technology folks here with everything that they're taking on right now just want to thank them for the incredible amount of stress they're enduring right now to to implement some new softwares and in technology in our classroom so Brian way to go and hats off to your staff transportation um last year we transported just over 5 800 students okay this year we transport or we're transporting approximately 6 500.

next slide please um so also going along with building building the budget um we also we have well we have to think of the immediate we also have to think of the big picture right and uh we have to look at enrollment Trends um we have to look at Staffing levels class sizes we have to look at all those different things because the decisions we make today can have a long time negative impact on the overall fiscal health of the district and just a few years ago we had under a million dollars in our general fund before it was called the education fund and now we've been able to give staff nice increases but also build back up to a nice amount of cash cash reserves uh to where we're never in a position to where we might have to potentially borrow to make payroll so you don't want to take uh two you know two steps or one step forward and then two steps back so next slide so there's our budget uh preparation calendar so actually Kelly and I uh met with the County Council last week I think it was last week um tonight is our budget workshop and board approval to advertise the budget and then you can see uh the upcoming um important dates and deadlines as we continue to move forwards with the budget adoption process and the County Council essentially the uh the agency that approves our approves our budget next slide uh just again showing uh ADM and how it has adjusted over time um just kidding historical information you can see that built this budget with the same ADM account as spring of uh last year next slide again just uh since our budget is an 18-month spending plan an 18-month Revenue plan and have to build it with several different assumptions because that is a long period of time where things can change for the better and sometimes for the worse next slide and so moving on to the budget itself you can see projected revenues for the next 18 months as well as expenditures for the next 18 months of the last six months of this year and the full 2024 calendar year we don't advertise a levy or a rate in education fund because we I'll receive those dollars directly from the DOE next slide our debt service fund again same thing um you can see the living to be advertised the rate to be advertised next slide pension debt we don't advertise a levy or a rate because we use our local income tax dollars to pay our pension debt uh fund liabilities next slide the operations fund again 18 month Revenue plan 18 month expenditure plan and you can see the levy and the rate to be advertised next slide the rainy day fund um again we've been able to build up a cushion there we will appropriate some funds out a rainy day but hopefully we won't have to suspend them we don't receive any uh property tax dollars and so we don't advertise a levier rate for rainy day next slide and again these are just a bunch of different budget considerations as we as we work we work through this um process I won't read all those items to you next slide there's our rate and Levy history um so one thing I would like to to point out is on the left hand side you can see the advertised uh levies and and rates and on the far right hand side you can see what has been certified by the dlgf after our budget has been finalized so our budget is built on roughly 85 percent of our assessed valuation so therefore um the rates are advertised higher then they come back certified because when the AV goes up your rate goes down to generate levies and we also know that we have Max lettings for operations fund and so we know that the dlgf is going to make some adjustments uh to that so if you go to the next slide there's what we're seeking uh permission to to advertise for the 2024 budget in addition to capital projects fund planned and the bus replacement plans which are posted on our website so unless anybody has any questions that I would like to uh recommend the board of provide approval to advertising 24 budget cpf plan and bus replacement plan I will make a motion to do so okay um we have a motion in a second any questions comments okay here you go and all in favor all right all opposed motion passes next item is an approval request for the 20 or 2023 2024 save School plan yeah so as it's customary with another I started the school year our building administrators and uh your Landon is our safety Guru at GCSE we've reviewed all of our safe school plans within the first 60 days we have to certify that we've reviewed them modified them if needed and so we're just essentially taking board action to show that we have done just that and I will certify to the idea after that takes place come on foreign Motion in a second to approve the safe School plan all in favor all opposed motion passives next item is an approval equipment with an approval request the 2023-24 occupational therapist contract the Salient health yep so in order to uh to continue to provide services to some of our students with special needs um Mr Sullivan has worked um to uh to identify a therapist to contract with and essentially in order to move forward with them it requires a board approval and this is similar to what we've done in years past um with some of those Specialties got specialty type positions well I will trust Miss Sullivan's recommendation and make a motion okay we have a motion in a second any questions discussion hearing none whatsoever all opposed motion passes next is an approval request for the teacher appreciation grants yeah so as is customary again at the start of the start of the school year by I think the deadlines by September 15th um we have to send in um our teacher appreciation Grant uh policy and our evaluation plan um we have not made any adjustments or any changes to that policy but we have to annually approve this policy and so it would be my recommendation that the board approved our teacher appreciation grants policy so that I can submit it second okay we have a motion in a second any questions discussion can't hear any none all in favor all right all opposed motion passes next item on the agenda is a revision to the 2023-24 academic calendar yeah so if you've been following the news media or reading the newspaper of some school districts that have done this already we chose to kind of wait and see a little bit um but with what uh the public um is projecting with what's going to take place on solar eclipse day essentially uh the timing of the eclipse being during dismissal and the extra amount of visitors that we expect in town we just have a lot of safety concerns um with holding school on that day and dismissing you know dismissing on time and so I have a modification here in the calendar as it stands right now we had a built-in snow makeup day on April 19th and essentially what I would like to do is drop that off and make April 8th a solar eclipse day to where it is a day out of school and we've been talking it as an administrative team where we still feel like the meet could work with our staff members to share activities for families to do on that day and to safely view the eclipse and we've also looked into purchasing Glass glasses so that students can do on the eclipse safely from home so this is a where I think is in the best interest of our our school district and kids just to keep everyone safe makes sense to me but um luckily we have the police officer here on our board what do you see coming um I can tell you that we've already had uh meetings with the sheriff and some representatives from out of state who have seen this type of event in their state before and they brought a lot of wisdom to us to plan for this I've never seen this kind of thing before so I can see it maybe it's kind of a mess here and especially at the time we're going to prepare and be ready for it so it's just one of those things that we've never seen is I don't know it may be a good idea that to plan ahead and look for this kind of thing I from a safety standpoint so like a perfect world I wish we could just sit back and say you know what let's keep our kids for an extra hour let's invite the community out let's really enjoy this let's make us a learning opportunity but I also know that no it's not just kids getting on buses and getting them home it's the high school kids trying to get home during the middle of all this my fear is that the kids are going to be sitting at home on their phones and they're not going to see a thing of it and we're going to miss a great learning opportunity um but I understand there's a safety side of it too I guess that's my two cents on yeah well I think it's probably the best to prepare for and take the day out and say well maybe we didn't need to do that after all it's been opposed to knots and where we should so it might be a cloudy day it is Indiana okay well can I get a motion to approve d oh second yeah the motion in a second any further discussion questions okay next item on the agenda is the 2023 appointment to the Putnam County Library board for a four-year term that term expired I heard in January or excuse me July yeah so we need to do a point so far yeah and it'd be my recommendation that we reappoint uh Mrs Green Shannon greens in that position okay makes good sense I will make a motion that she is a representative okay motion and a second any discussion okay hurry none all a favor all right follow votes motion passes next is an approval request for some athletic corporate sponsors that I'm going to read all of once or will approve all at once and each of these is for fifteen hundred dollars sponsorship one from York Chevrolet Buick GMC Greencastle Pediatric Dentistry McDonald's Dave's Heating and Cooling Hassler Trucking epic Insurance in excuse me epic Insurance Midwest Putnam County Health Department and Edwards Royal Comfort Heating and Air again each of those sponsors ships is where or four one thousand five hundred dollars so taking a motion to approve I make a motion second okay Motion in a second any discussion other than thank you yeah thank you everybody okay um all in favor aye all opposed motion passes next item is an approval request for two donations one from the Indiana Association school principals Incorporated the Green Castle High School in the amount of six hundred dollars a second from the American Legion Post 58 the Greencastle High School softball in the amount of five hundred dollars second emotional approve the two donations yes um all in favor all right all opposed motion passes next is the first reading of the gcxc foundational statements 2023 through 2026.

um now we didn't gain all those students this has to do with rerouting if we just look at tap by itself and where did tap to move from it moved from walkable location to a not so walkable locations so pass off to Marty and his crew for doing a wonderful job dealing with a very very big Challenge and I do want to also just give a shout out to Marty who's also in increase our bus driver staff the quantity and also making some incredible cultural changes too with inside that department so way to go Marty Pam is Maloney our amazing food service director um just looking for a few more floor workers in a few areas but they always rally I can say at this time right now in all of our departments in our school buildings we are in a superposition right now for staff members and where we are short we usually are short in those areas at this time of year so Crown Point is a fortunate community in that we draw applicants one last example is at the last moment we saw so the increase out on the east coast in enrollment I feel we need to hire three elementary teachers at Zero Hour from our morning meeting at 7 A.M we had three teachers outboarded by 1 30.

yeah so just to kind of highlight my work and chime in where I'm missing um we spent we've been spending about the last year um working with Dr Walsh um from ISU on just revisiting um our mission uh Vision core beliefs um our values essentially to work on developing our strategic plan uh for Greencastle school districts um and so we've had five or six meetings over the past past year to where we've really talked about and had a lot of good discussions on what it means to be a Greencastle tiger um because we believe that we need to essentially kind of set the foundation or set the direction for the future of our school district um to help Drive our priorities and our strategic plan and so now we've reached um the moment in time uh to where uh it's it's needed for the burn board excuse me to have first reading um on these foundational statements um to eventually to where we adopt them and then we move into our priorities and our goal setting uh with staff so a couple of our buildings have already had some conversations with their teachers um already to help us identify potentially what some of those goals might be so that way we I guess do student the students are at the core of what we do each and every day um but it can include things such as you know supporting teacher growth and retention um yeah they were looking at how we're supporting like student mental health we know that that's been an issue for the last couple of years especially since covid so that's becoming a priority for us um fiscal responsibility um not only for our facilities but also instructionally and for our teachers and students um yeah I know the Coco and extracurricular programming that we have in Greencastle because that's a strength but working through all those things and identifying um some goals that we can work to kind of stretch ourselves and help grow the district and help us move forward so essentially there's no action this month but those are forced or streaming thank you yeah thanks for working on that yeah next item this is a first reading of a bunch of Neola policies yeah so all those different policies are listed for first reading so again no action um being taken tonight but those will be on the agenda for our second reading and adoption anybody have any questions or comments on any of them you know all right that's good enough um next item on the agenda is other business does anyone have any other businesses I was going to ask Mr Rogers I know he's working on trying to get more of a fan base at our games and I just want to know how is this going well um [Music] all the way up um so they're just trying to generate deciding inside the bank let's open our first game I counted 107. um in Athens that are inside stadium that was over 240 512.

same day in a teacher shortage environment so thanks to everyone involved in keeping the positive momentum going in a very challenging but exciting window that's all that happened yeah thank you it's good to be back thank you Mr Kiwa 5.09 Chief Financial Officer Mr Reese thank you Mr President members of the board one of the multitude of reports that we get to submit out of the business office is the collective bargaining report which basically highlights the amount of pay that we pay to our certified teachers from our contract in the school corporation some interesting numbers I'd like to share with you regarding uh that report during the 22-23 school year we had an art experience for our staff was 5889 890 years of experience on the teaching staff I thought that was a really interesting number that's up from over 5600 uh the year before which people come back that's one for every teacher it makes sense about 270 300 300 years of experience the other interesting fact that came out if you look at our average salary in 2122 it was just uh shy of 68 000 or 67 797.

for the 22-23 school year our average salary for our certified staff was 71 250 so an increase of almost 3 500 per teacher I'm pretty excited about that you asked why was it not the number that we agreed to in the contract that's because some people believe and so not everybody sees that increase um some some other interesting facts what they do as part of this report is they give you the average salary Statewide from the previous year so for 2122 the average salary across the state of Indiana was 56 616 dollars that's the average salary across the state of Indiana one of the other questions that they ask on here is how many teachers do you have below that average salary and happily report for the first time and I don't know many that can do this same thing but our number of teachers below the state average was Zero every single teacher in the Crown Point Community Schools makes more than the state average for the state of Indiana pretty excited about that your commitment the community's commitment through the referendum two teachers salaries can't thank them or you enough for moving the corporation along in that manner so thank you very much and I thought those are some interesting facts thank you Mr Reese 5.10 director of communication Mrs Allen for hosting us at their National Night Out event we were able to interact with quite a few families I think they said they had six to seven hundred people there just a great event right before school started we took a school bus out there and I think that was one of the favorite things that evening and Marty Freeman was there he was able to talk to some families about transportation and just a really good opportunity to connect with folks and Brooke picked out the booth spot right in front of the speaker system so it was awesome we did okay um you mentioned our tour night at Taft that's coming up that's September 21st from 4 to 6 p.m that's open to anyone in the community that would like to come and take a look at the building students will be the ones giving the tour they've become well versed now and walking people through the Building compared to our first day when they didn't know which way to go at all I do want to thank Dion and Johnny for their help in preparing the building for our ribbon cutting ceremony not just that day but what many people don't know is that the day before we hosted our Media Partners for a walk through and for photos and because of that we had more than 250 000 individuals that we reached through that media coverage and the span of just three or four days big impact for us so thank you to them for all of their hard work thank you Mrs Allen superintendent schools Dr Terrell so I have a cup several items this evening is going to be a little bit longer than normal but just some that I think are really important that we point out the first one um I need to make a statement regarding the letters who were sent to our constituents regarding the Cyber event that took place on July 26th of this year statements went out to people so in order to provide a required legal notifications about the network breach in a timely manner and according to each State's law Crown Point schools hired dauntless Discovery their role was to sort and contact information and data create a required notifications and ensure the correct notifications were mailed to each individual when our school Community began informing us about the large number of incorrect mailings they were receiving we asked insisted that dauntless Discovery investigate why this was happening last week dauntless Discovery informed us that they had made an error during the creation of the data file while sorting filtering the file that error resulted in more than sixteen hundred individuals receiving wrong or duplicate mailings we are beyond frustrated that their air and their delayed response regarding the air cause such confusion in our community we have insisted on a refund for their services we also asked dauntless Discovery to issue a formal explanation to our school community and they have not yet responded to that request so we're continuing to work through that process appreciate people's patience but know that we're continuing that ongoing process to correct that situation with dauntless next one um tonight Denise Jansen is here who is Not Unusual Denise has been with us every almost every board meeting since I've been here in the corporation and has been the active president of Crown Point Educators Association and want to thank her for her service she told me this is her last one yeah let's give a round of applause thank you thank you told me that uh this is officially her last one next time she's going to watch from home and I said surely not but I want to thank her and appreciate the teamwork that we've had the the partnership there also want to welcome we've got two people replacing Denise so Hillary Laborde who is not here with us this evening but Michelle bunch is present with us and they are acting as co-presidents leading the the association moving forward so those of you who are here are first teachers or first staff day Michelle did a fabulous job speaking and we appreciate actually I think yeah did you speak to you at Hillary speaking yes that's right Hillary and that's why Michelle's here tonight they kind of like drawn anyway um we look forward to working with them I think it's going to be a great team so we appreciate you being here with us as well um start of school you've heard what everybody had I think it's just been amazing uh was mentioned before about the big four our directors of Support Services I can tell you that on weekends Saturdays Sundays I've seen Mike in buildings Brian I mean there are times I'm in a building at 8 30 at night and Brian is and Jim are still there working and I leave and they're still there working I can tell you that Marty and his wife have spent time walking subdivisions and talking to people about bus routes and where it might be better to have a different bus route and I think that really has impacted movement of some things to really get the best services for our people so appreciate them just going above and beyond state of the schools this year we were not able to have that as you guys are aware because of Simply a location really to host this so Brooke put together this document with the assistance of cabinet to really go through I think it's something that has turned out to be a really well done information filled publication that we will be passing out at Coffee talks at different events that we'll be hosting and wanted you guys to have a opportunity to preview that as well before we start passing that out as always Brooke did an amazing job with it Brooke anywhere else that I'm missing that we're going to be publishing these or putting them out okay so thank you to to Brooke and what she did there so with that being said again um August 16th came and went on not without I'm not going to say without a hitch there's always issues that come up with the start of school the individuals who sit before you tonight at these tables I can't thank them enough for the work that they put into this typically we get to that first day of school and it's almost like we all just take a deep sigh of relief because we need a school to start a lot of that just that's that's what we do and here we're typically four six eight weeks ahead of the process so for us it was a huge relief and all the planning to see it actually come to come to where things are working out the way they're supposed to I think our high school enrollment right now is in within five or six of what the demographer told us it would be and verified by Matt's numbers as well so it's just amazing to see how all of those things have really come together to put us in a great start of the school year so appreciate you guys your support and I look forward to a great school year coming up thank you Dr Terrell item 6.01 is other business of the board just a couple notes from my perspective uh we have the fall Indiana State School Board Association fall conference uh the 24th of September through the 26th I know I will be in attendance Mr Vassar Miss Basin Mr babjac are you attending this year or uh doubtful okay with that being said then just the part of this was the school board meeting has been moved up to the third Monday of that of September so that's September 18th to make sure duly noted in your calendars other mentions of any other board business September 18th Diana there was it was there a date already for the uh dinner at tables for lack of a better term yet have you seen one yet for the fall not as of yet okay just want to make sure if we had that date we'll pass it along no other at that time with that we'll move on to 7.01 board statements of appreciation and recognition not all Mr Ambassador sorry there's been a lot of them tonight and thanks Artie for telling me that that was a question I had but you you beat me too at about the number of students that ride the buses so I thank the bus drivers before 6 500 individuals are riding those buses every day so not only thank the bus drivers but the mechanics will keep those buses running because they're not running we're in big trouble so many many thanks to those folks Miss all right so I hate to be very wordy with my appreciation for everyone it is so good to see Artie back and a huge amount of appreciation goes out to all of the cabinet and Dr Terrell for continuing to lead the group while Artie was out and his transitioned back and everything it's so nice to see his positivity which is just an aura that follows him so it's great to see him back tonight I wanted to also thank Skillman the buildings look amazing I know there's still a work in progress which leads me to my next one thank you always to our teachers having experienced the first day many times under different scenarios never once did I get to experience a first day under construction with redistricting I've done um some of those along the way in my time but a huge thank you to our teachers they and our administrators at those buildings my children in particular are attending new buildings um Brooke the coordinating of all of our efforts leading up to the first day with the redistricting and making students feel comfortable getting those things shared on social media teachers for coming to extra things I know we did popsicles on the playground at Timothy ball and those folks are out there on their own time their last you know Drops Of Summer with their own families and and doing their own thing and they're out there handing out popsicles meeting families so that was wonderful there's even a new administrator at our building and so that you know it's been a huge transition I'm sure for all of them in the midst of construction so thank you so much to everybody involved in putting in so much extra effort and then to go along with the first day my kids felt completely welcomed with open arms they didn't feel you know awkward or new and that is a huge Testament to our teachers in those buildings going above and beyond making sure that they're not just doing their curriculum teaching but they're truly making these children feel like a part of a community and I know I can say my kids already feel that way same thing at Wheeler you know it's the same school but I think almost 80 percent of their population flip-flopped from Taft and even walking in the secretaries in those buildings were excited to get to know somebody new coming in you know introducing themselves to parents so all the way across the board and absolutely amazing job and those are my personal sentiments but those have been echoed um you know everyone I've talked to has said you know kind of the same story so that's a kudos to everybody involved I'm so proud to be able to be a part of such an awesome Corporation especially through such large transition pieces with redistricting construction um so you guys are amazing Mr badger welcome back buddy it's great to see your face it's been a long time I know you went through a lot man it's like totally awesome to see you sitting there um Matt thank you for the update on those numbers seeing those average teacher salary increases that was pretty cool thing to see I wasn't I wasn't aware of what those numbers were recently I know several years ago that's um I had some conversation with Ryan about that and we've kind of made that a point of emphasis and I think I don't know if it necessarily happens without Todd's leadership probably does not happen under previous leadership so thank you to Todd for helping drive that as well thank you uh I have a couple this evening actually uh first uh all those behind the scenes for the Taft ribbon coating uh Brooke I know your big integral part of that uh Tracy Seibert and everybody else make sure their names get mentioned because that was just a wonderful event formal yet informal uh between them uh doing the Time Capsule thing and just having a few people speak with a student a teacher just really well put together and uh then the tours and all that I mean as much as it was somewhat a little disarray walking through areas everybody got through safely and got to see what the end result will be here shortly so thank you to all involved in that and then one of my favorite events the back to school ceremony with the cheerleaders the band pompous circumstances uh bad joke telling but we won't mention any names but um just a wonderful I I just love that event I mean you can feel the energy it kind of brings us back to our days when you had pep rallies and stuff like that and you just feel the and everybody's smiling I mean as much as they're you know deep down there's probably a few that are sad that they're back in you know the job for the next nine months but at the same time they've Smiles on their faces and it was all exciting so uh and then just one more thing kind of to add to what they've said if you think about this we went back to school with construction projects at every building and 9 000 approximate kids total in a school corporation and this is the board meeting after school started yes were there some small glitches whether it be bus routes whatever it may be but it's just a testament to all of you behind the scenes that run the day-to-day operations to where we had very very few incidents of anything that was more than you know a leaf falling from a tree so to speak um so that is pretty incredible when you actually put that put that in perspective of what is accomplished knowing what we're going through knowing what type of education they're going to receive and yet the number one goal was to get these kids in school on time in buildings that aren't perfect but yet are getting there and No Interruption that that's you know classroom day and learning time and instruction so that goes to all the teachers involved behind the scenes with that as well and everybody that's pitching in and maybe doing something they normally wouldn't do just to make sure it works without flaws so I'm always I always say this when I'm out in public I am very very honored to serve as a board member in this community with the other board members knowing that not all the time is it going to be perfect but everybody's working to make it as close to perfect as possible so with that I will oh I'm sorry I totally overlooked it um Dion thank you for the update tonight I really appreciate that that's something that I had asked Scott for um it was much better to have the update here because I was like getting really close to at football practice when people were asking me about the turf I'm like gosh the guy that's in charge of it is all right over there but I don't think I did that one time so so I appreciate it I can promise you three years ago that conversation would have happened am I not accurate with that Scott yes all right correct so we're all good so nobody else has anything else I'll look for a motion to adjourn motion by Miss basins second by Mr babjek all those in favor please signify by saying aye aye motion carries 4-0

I'd be willing to do it um but I'd like a full report and I just have a meeting on how it's going sure you know so myself personally it's just one person oh I'm sorry I understood that you said this is for every time they got coming to class and when they leave they get to come back right so there's no chance for anything no yeah okay Mr Hayden um I've used these boxes before and I found the effect of um we've kind of slowed down on them because none of the other shops were using them other than automotive and Automotive was doing a fantastic job policing these boxes every year I came back and every year there's another policy on how we're going to handle cell phones you got to keep going any step is better than not having a step you gotta remember these kids are not being fresh they grew up with a phone on their hand it's not like us that it's luxury take it out of your hands and what they do need to learn and I'll agree with you you can't teach them if you're answering the phone all the time or if you're in the middle of the class and the phone starts ringing I used to have a way of doing it I take the phone away from your kid I'd answer it I'd say hi Mom I'm going to be late tonight save dinner and hang out and then I'll stop laughing I've got the hint but anything is better than nothing I'd like to see a little gold for it tonight Mrs Fitzgerald yes I am totally in support of this we are not taking away the access only taking it away during the time that the teacher is teaching they have it between classes they have at lunch they have it before school they have it at the end of the day and as we have in place with our safe office the parents can reach their children it's not that but honestly I've just heard from so many teachers how difficult it is for whether it's a particular student or more than one student that doesn't want to comply with it it's just a another burden that we're putting on the teachers that's taking away from the time that we're that the parents hopefully are expecting them to do their job and that's teaching their children so if we were saying I I don't know how it would feel about the locked up all day I'm sure you would have a little Revolt with the kids or the parents or whatever but this is not we are giving them access to it during the day so I am totally in support of this and we can evaluate it at the end of a couple of months or whatever hopefully with great report backs music from your recommendation is really important as you presented with it yeah you have a motion so moved for a second second uh would you mind adding a report by in our December meeting on how it's going yes um the emotion would include that we have a report back at our December meeting I think it might be December 5th [Music] should not okay you uh call the uh the road please Mr Hayden yes Mr Cirillo no this mama yes Miss Fitzgerald yes yes you have motion Frank if our numbers are so good at me congratulations [Music] right there's a motion by Mr Soul do I have a second on that for the data that's just a collective important the data it's a second discussion all those in favor all right anyone opposed that data will go to everybody everybody but you yes everybody with Tommy Facebook okay personal considerations that's coming off the table of management that you know I mean that that will come off I'm sorry you can't sure I mean there is going to be a report in December yeah there's a motion to keep this into the table matters uh the student use of cellular devices just have to address it every week that's all a second discussion follows the table aye anybody opposed personal considerations I see no resignations I see no leave of absence no retirements appointments there was a list of new hires that are provided in the package job yes sir on that list I just haven't mentioned there was any decisions are they part of these new ideas there there's a couple of Replacements but they are in addition like we had a resignation in history but the other history position is the additional history teacher one thank you okay job postings uh informational I don't have anything listed here though at least exactly yes yes doing the budget though you've already invited are they the one in the pictures sorry are they the one yes I I was thinking I was putting the names yeah in the faces future gender items okay there is a need for an executive session for a Personnel matter promotion please so moved all those in favor please yes that's Fitzgerald yes yes we will be coming back to adjourn Al exactly it is great we want to we want to see ourselves our students oh yeah yeah of course so like for example like uh this year we hired we have a plumbing teacher who's a former graduate so we made a big deal of it like a returning Reggie but we could yeah yep Cindy yeah I know but anyway Martinez yeah yeah she is just an example of one 100 you know yeah right it is it's a really good thing and so we should celebrate it yeah I think that's important yeah that's a great idea it really is so I know I make a big deal about it like today like do you feel attorney Reggie um so anyway that's yeah thank you I hope you can do it or somehow right now [Music] I don't know um because I I think I think foreign thank you foreign Echo you know oh yeah yeah this is better anyway s okay thanks thanks the CIA there was items that wasn't so importation [Music] thanks Tom I'm gonna get you a pin just cream yeah I found it over there that's why he's telling me I'm doing a good job so moved I [Music] they are 12th of September Tuesday the 12th and then another one on uh the 26th right and then we evaluate everybody thank you thank you everyone thank you yeah no kidding [Music] when are you doing a presentation of September okay or time like on my calendar instead of my phone but yeah of course I love an old school calendar myself that's what I do so um we do a daycare up in Manchester New Hampshire on Wednesdays that's when the end service was going to be oh yeah so we had to swap it to Tuesday or yeah my wife could be there right to my wife I met my wife here I didn't realize that because when we started special education in seven and six yeah myself and she and another teacher with the first three especially staff members in the building wow because that's when they first started yeah identification especially kids yeah we didn't get married right away right yeah but that's that was a connection I'm gonna mention that right she doesn't know that I'm going to mention something to that regard yeah at that meeting that's awesome awesome exercise no wait Napa [Music]

terbach yeah uh Mr yanuzzi great thank you so much I like to turn the meeting over in the agenda to Dr pantaliano actually I'm going to turn it over to Dr Hayes to give us the superintendent report okay thank you very much thank you Dr Hayes so good evening everyone first and foremost I want to let you know that we had a very successful new staff orientation meeting tonight approximately 38 new staff members in this room I congratulate and thank Mrs Calabrese our director of the curriculum instruction Al and his entire technology team on the teachers and supervisors who came to meet and greet and support our new staff it was a very successful day they'll be back here again tomorrow it was a busy day and we all agreed it was a good day for Cliffside Park to welcome these 38 new staff members um tonight's wood resolution packet you'll you have found 53 Personnel resolutions I thank you for your support throughout the month of July and August and helping us get these personnel resolutions in front of you and we're getting ready to become a reality tough Market out there and again I thank and congratulate the professional staff and everyone who contributed to hiring these individuals you'll see tonight within the Personnel resolutions one for professional development I believe we've hired Seven Days Seven substitute teachers in there for you to approve a substitute nurse seven permanent substitute teachers a speech language pathologist High School science teacher for elementary teachers two language learning disability teachers seven AIDS three lunch AIDS three bus drivers five transfers five leaves of absence five resignations several co-curricular charts we put in front of you and there's one retirement resolution that Dr pantaliano is going to speak to when I turned the meeting back to her so again it was a very busy summer very productive summer and hopefully today some orientation represented a good start to uh transitioning back to our school year any questions thank you thank you if we look at number 37 on the agenda it's a resolution to accept the retirement grade five classroom and I just wanted to speak to that retirement because Miss pooey was a teacher to my daughter more sure teacher of many and I hope that she had the opportunity to see this because Miss Cooney if you're watching this I brought Templeton with me uh Templeton was a prize that you say about to many of your students for the good work that they did in their classroom and I'm sure like my daughter many of his students still have them and treasure them to this day a heartfelt thank you thank you to Mrs Cooney for all that you did for all of your students while they were in your class your class was a great returning Point especially in third grade where you took so many students and opened up the door of possibilities for them it was the beginning of a transformation of what students were as children what they could be as you young adults as they were their Elementary School career and I just want you to know that just as they still have Templeton in our house I'm sure many other students have Templeton in their house and I want to give you a heartfelt thank you for myself the parents of school four and the Board of Education because you truly transform the lives of children and when you touch the children you touch eternity and a thank you from us for all that you've done done I know that you didn't start your career in teaching and you moved to it as a passion project so thank you and we wish you the greatest of luck and happiness in your retirement thank you or any um concerns any committee reporters impossible to get the resolutions on each one of these numbers we can so that way if you have to offer to a specific resolution that's remembered people will know that we're referring to that particularly I hear what you're saying Judy and I you are correct um but the agenda slash minutes themselves on the header has the date date so it may be duplicative it may have a it may be a little runny in regard to your and it may take away from hey let's go look at resolution 37 of course it's just the 37th but on your header on every agenda on every minute that we post a website the first thing they see is the date and the year so so I'm just thinking that may it may be a little duplicative and add a little noise to the number so to speak but it's just a thought I've seen uh you know that system in other districts however you wanted to do it it makes a little bit more cumbersome for Virginia especially when you have 100 resolutions on one uh sheep butt but listen I can talk with uh Dr Hazel flying it just makes every reservation unique but if you hold the date they incorporated into it it's a unique number uh I'll speak with Dr Hayden whenever you really want you want to do not the data I've seen letters you know a piece of personality p15 you look at other school districts yeah they're within expanded yeah we want to make it uh we want to make it efficient for the person the owner who's doing the resolution also put the date on top and then with the resolution number of y a zero one resolution was zero two so that's what this is right the date on top but you know we'll go with the consensus obviously we'll go in the direction of the board but again as I said we're as gene or being the owner of the agent we're trying to make it efficient for her also but also make sure we get the information out to the board and those who look at the resolution it's easy to say hey resolution 39 August 30th 2023 resolution 39 our next meeting is September 20th it'll also have a resolution number one but it also right at the top the header September 20th 2023.

but I'll I'll catch Dr Hayes offline and we'll we'll talk about uh what we believe we may want to enhance or ADD but we're always conscious of trying to be as efficient with the because this is a you're talking about a hundred line item agenda which we have every month and sometimes we have a line items but we'll talk about again we appreciate everyone's food it's a stop stuff thank you I know Dr patliano you were asking about any committee reports I don't know if anyone wants to update they went through heavy facilities last week's work session I don't want to be duplicative but Mr capano I know we talked a lot about what's going on a lot of things the new bathrooms are beautiful at the high school that was a vetoes and Son Mr Paradiso did that yeah they were absolutely beautiful I think it's going to be wonderful to bring those bathrooms back online I think um I think that'll be beneficial to us and thank you for the mirrors you're welcome so any other comments or questions I'm just going to give a quick Finance update for folks our Auditors we've provided them electronic documentation Fair matter of boxes that were not any type of payroll or anything that you would think you would want to leave the district we gave them a whole bunch of documents that were pretty benign with regard to personal information the keep them chugging along they also came in earlier in the week and they did a site visit and they went through a lot of the payroll stuff a lot of the purchase orders contracts a lot of the stuff that we don't want to leave the building I had a quick exit interview they're not done yet with the lead auditor who's now a partner Mr Reeves so far we're doing pretty good are we going to have zero findings I can tell you exactly My Hope Is we have the two or three that we've been having per year he said it's going pretty well and he'll be back next Tuesday and he may be back one other day and then we'll have the formal exit interview and I can get kind of an overview to the finance committee and the full board but net net right now we're looking pretty good again the business office staff is they do their rigor all year so we've got a pretty good track record over the last seven eight years we can always do better but right now uh Mr Reeves thinks we're doing we're in pretty good shape nothing material that you can see definitive understanding of what our Surplus is financial position and we have worked well into book 23 24.

they're going to start their early order on that believe it or not looking at purchase orders because the last two meetings we've approved quite a few uh purchase orders and invoices for the new school year and as I spoke about in late October early November we'll start talking about Capital project for 24.25 listing them prioritizing what we want to assess because by then we'll have an understanding of surplus so we'll engage that process uh the sooner the better and that's pretty much it but I just want to take everyone's eyes to that last page of the agenda if I may please and you see what that agenda is not numbered because that agenda has to build an estate in the county we want to keep that as clean as possible that's the agenda on the stair Tower doors but one note one note week we're going to make will you read that says resolution to approve the stair Tower security project it's on page 24.
⚗ AI-reconstructed · cite from original above
it's the State Tower security door projects we got to add the word door okay so we'll have that changed online and we'll have that change in the minutes and then this will go out to the county and the state as you know we use the national cooperative and the same contract we use that won the open bid last year they came in at lowest but now we know there's National cooperative and they've renewed it and Cooperative it's been approved by the auditor whatever we thought it was prudent not to go through the open bid process to go through that same uh contractor finishing up the high school and is now going to engage in three School four and score six and as you know the last work session will approve the resolution for number five school so we can go to the Department of Ed the application for the Department of edit we'll also be doing stair Tower door project but I wanted to bring that to the board of detention we have a a word that we have to add into there I'll make everyone aware Peggy and Gia in regard to that so that's pretty much my overview does anyone have any other input or questions I have a question sure resolution number 95.

welcome USD 264 Patron staff students and community members just want to welcome you to superintendent update number two Clearwater Clarity uh for September uh 2023. first I want to thank everyone for the warm welcome as I've been able to get started and get out in the community and meet everyone so again please if you see me at activities or ball games please come up introduce yourself and be more willing to spend some time uh visiting with you but again thank you for the warm welcome to the community so as we get started for uh volume two we really want to start diving into a little bit of what we've been doing over the last month and kind of what our next steps are and as we're doing this I really want to review just why are we doing this so in the background here is the USD 264 strategic plan which has four major goals of increasing student achievement implementing whole child programming developing deep relationships and providing consistent relevant communication that is our why this is why we do what we do every day is to make sure that we can start achieving those four goals goals at a high level second we're talking about the what what are we going to do to achieve these goals and then lastly we'll start focusing on the how well today in this episode we're going to really just focus on the why so as I explained a little bit ago the vision statement with one team one family one district will help students reach their full potential We Set four different goals and that is our strategic plan that's here at the top from there we derive our keysa goals which is accreditation so each cycle every five years each School District in the state of Kansas has to be accredited Clearwater was accredited in 2022 and started our second cycle last year so during that from the Strategic plan the building leadership teams the district leadership team and the district site councils created key signals those goals are ones that drive us towards making sure that we treat achieve the Strategic plan from there then the buildings are creating building goals yearly and then the plcs which are groups of teachers smaller groups by department or by grade level are creating inquiry Cycles which are small goals about every nine weeks that build towards the building goals over here on this side of the graphic we have each building leader and including myself as a superintendent who wrote leadership goals that are going to help us achieve the Strategic plan from there the teachers are writing individual goals for their professional development how they're going to improve access and achievement in their classroom and from there we'll start driving in future years towards students setting their own goals and then we'll make make sure that the goal was met and then we'll start the cycle all over again and re-looking at our strategic Plan Building our key goals building goals inquiry Cycles student goals and then doing that lastly and part of that is just really understanding that to do this we must have gentle pressure relentlessly applied it's a great quote that came from a friend of mine at Salina superintendent there and it's just about the idea of making sure that we're staying focused on what matters and that's providing that gentle pressure and then if we make sure every day that we go to work we're working on these goals that's how we can relentlessly apply it so as we step into the second half of this video today I really want to focus on the vision and it's really the start of the vision one team one family one District so when we met as a full staff back in August in in service time we really were able to Define really what this means and so for us as we're looking at this one team is is has three different bullet points to it and it's a focus on where teams have goals uh all great teams that are successful have common goals whether it's winning a championship whether it's being successful whether it's reaching their ultimate end of the team season goals all teams that are successful have goals and we feel like our strategic plan and our keys of goals as long as our as well as our building goals will help us be there we also believe that teams have similar beliefs beliefs in what our kids can achieve beliefs in what Clearwater USD 264 stands for and beliefs in what we want to be able to accomplish at the end of the career of our students and then lastly team celebrates small victories making sure that along the way we're celebrating all the small successes that help us become one team the second part of our vision statement is one family and so as we broke it down we really looked at that family has love families have love for one another that we truly love each other for who and and who they are and what they become and we make sure that we do that within our students and our staff secondly families have trust we cannot have success within our goals and our strategic plan or living out our vision if we don't have trust in the person next to us and then finally we have to also understand that families at times have to agree to disagree meaning we may not always see eye to eye on all the same issues and all the same ways to get to the goal but that it's okay to agree to disagree at times we don't all have to be on the same page but we're all moving in the same direction and then lastly we defined one district is where districts have systems that work together when we think about systems we think about gears gears that turn and work together that that drive a clock or drive a car or drive a train those systems have to work together intricately to make sure that they are successful this districts have a broad view of everyone and everything meaning that we look at everything as a as a whole and don't focus on just a small population or a small group is how are we ensuring that all means all all students and all staff when we're talking about how to be successful and then districts have support systems in place similar to things like mtss or that we have maintenance departments or we have grounds departments or we have bus and maintenance mechanics those are all support systems we have in place to help us achieve our goal and so finally as we are starting to wrap up this video our theme for this year is to be the one we truly believe that every student needs someone in their life to become something and we're not asking every adult to be that for every student but we want to make sure that every student has an adult at USD 264 that they can trust and turn to and help them be the one for them so that they can be successful as they continue through this year if you're looking on social media we have a hashtag called one two six four which hopefully helps represent our one family one team in one District vision statement finally just a little bit of an announcement we have changed a little bit of bus loading and unloading procedures especially at Elementary West and at Intermediate Middle School and so we just want to make sure and go over some bus safety as we get the year started so making sure that you're understanding when they are stopping on Prospect just outside of Elementary West that the buses will be deploying their stop signs and it is illegal to drive past the bus with their stop sign deployed we've had some issues with patrons driving through stop signs at this point in time we're just wanting to put a reminder out there officer Jacks our SRO and Clearwater PD will be there to help Monitor and assist those loading and unloading areas and also be able to talk to some people if they are creating an issue with driving through the stop signs safety is our priority concern within this mainly because as we all know the chat tragic events that happened at Derby a couple weeks ago we want to make sure that we keep all of our kids safe and sometimes kids don't always pay attention and aren't always really mindful of where they are at and where they are going so if we slow down follow our stop signs and make sure that we obey those speed limits we're going to be able to help make sure safety is a priority and then we appreciate your support in helping this because community members and parents you are part of our one family that we have here at USD 264 and we want to make sure everybody is safe and secure so lastly we are going to be starting a fall listening tour and so I already started this week with working with building staff and making sure that we go and listen and ask certain questions to just get a feel with where we're at with the Strategic plan and what we can do to continue implementing it so the one that will be coming up for the community is on September 27th we'll get more information out as we get closer but we will be having a district site council meeting that night and then immediately concluding the site council meeting we will be having a community listening to her where we can get some feedback on our strategic plan implementation process and then throughout September October and November we'll be meeting with building staff and students to prepare different listening opportunities to take notes and get help give us a direction on how we can improve some of those areas so again thank you here's my contact information please if you'd like to come in and visit set up a call by calling the office at any time or email me again you can also follow me on Twitter and also follow our Clearwater Facebook page where we will post a lot of information also this week will be the debut of our through their eyes video so we will also be posting a video monthly of different pictures that have been taken throughout the district to give you an idea of what it's like to be a student at USD 264.
