one thing to note of math the math test has kind of been recalibrated the ELA test has not been recalibrated and our incoming freshmen this year will be the first students next year to take the test that's a recalibrated version but math has already been recalibrated so here's our SGP comparison to the state as well as our sending community and finally our biology results biology looks a little different because during the pandemic in 2019 and 2020 the MCAS biology was not administered so last year is our first data point for math I mean for biology sorry and so just really briefly looking into this is achievement Levels by subject for all three tests just to to to put it in context with some numbers we had 431 10th graders that participated in this test of those 431 students 60 were students with disabilities 31 or multilingual Learners and eight of those students were duly identified so that's those percentages are the numbers so in terms of English results we had 24 students or six percent exceeding expectations 197 students that met expectations for a total of 52 percent that were either exceeding or meeting so a little bit more than 50 percent we had 187 students that partially met and 22 of our students did not meet expectation of those 22 students only three of them did not meet the competency determinations and will need to retest in November so for math we had four students that exceeded expectations 116 that met expectations and so 120 of our students are exceeding our meeting expectations in math we had 276 students partially meeting 34 students that did not meet and of those 34 students that did not meet all 34 did not meet the competency determination and we'll have to retest so both the ELA and math retest is in November for all of our students for biology we had 12 students that exceeded expectations 157 students that met expectations and so we had about 39 percent or 169 of our students that actually exceeded or met 211 students partially met and 51 students did not meet the expectations yet for biology out of those 51 students 40 of our students will have to take the test again in February so also just to share our plan of action and speaking with the superintendent and the administrative leadership team we proactively took all the students that did not meet expectations yet and have to retest they're scheduled into supplemental support courses already all teachers are will be provided with item analysis so they can help Target their instruction if they have these students in their classes and we are offering after-school tutoring either small group or individual for all students we're trying to be a little bit more proactive and so this year we have our current 10th graders and some of those 10th graders are already getting scheduled for are getting support in literacy and biology one other change that we've made specifically in math is we're transitioning to the use of high quality instructional materials in math we've transitioned to illustrative math in grades nine and ten and we're really hoping that we'll see a lot of movement in math as a result of that plan so moving on with the accountability data again accountability we have not had accountability any accountability data since 2019 and so that was due to the pandemic accountability is progress towards Improvement targets that the state sets for us we don't have a say in it and the account accountability percentage for 2020 and 2021 is determined from 2019.

we've discussed satellite libraries satellite police station um satellite health services and so we we would Envision that with the beginning of Community Schools as well that our schools would become community schools but that there are things that are essential and center and Central to the needs of a community where we can also have a central location where um our Southern Community could have access to some of these resources in our vision the city plays a an integral part in that but so does the county and so do non-profits um and maybe even faith-based organizations uh where where we create a hub for community community resources for our community we do have a Community Schools district director you met her at the last time um and so possibly even possibly like that would be the center of our community schools as a as a district um and then as we think about the possible location we also Envision much needed conference-based meeting rooms that could be for district use and or also some potential in terms of public use if we were to give Sierra its proper School than we too had envisioned right now we have adult Learners on an elementary campus and so what better place for adult Learners than to be with other adults and so if Sierra were to be moved away from their current location that offers up a lot of space where we can move the Magnolia adult transition program to that same campus and as we think about again opportunities for uh inclusion opportunities for uh some networking or you know doing things together the adults would be on an adult campus um by doing that this is our trickle effect then obviously that opens up that Magnolia section uh Magnolia Guru due to the reorganization and so again that offers some some some space for growth and or for other uh components that the school can use so as you think about these four things that's how we have preliminary preliminarily um have thought about if it was completely up to us there would be a site for Sierra with a Central Kitchen um and other potential uh opportunities we know that right now for example team artosa team because of space are not together um and so that's a possibility I know it was discussed earlier uh that we have team members Azusa team members who work out of what's called a Circ um and so that's a possibility as well as we think about unifying and centralizing uh some of the services that we provide uh our our district so we've definitely thought about it and in terms of what we think that we should use uh we we stand by needing or wanting two properties and we stand by those the uses that we originally had had thought about in terms of in terms of that um again we've thought out a little bit further if the board wanted to to hear but that I mean to answer your question that's that's what we're at with that Mr T I um I want to make sure I was tracking so I heard you say in summary two two campuses two sites and I heard site one Sierra past the expanded kitchen Central Kitchen Sierra new Central Kitchen uh so depending on the site for example uh we thought that Slauson might be a great location for the new Sierra High School um if we think about it's already a secondary school number one uh number two it has had uh modernization that some of our other schools have not received yet uh so in terms of quote unquote investment um that becomes a little bit minimal and the Central Kitchen already existed right now and so it would be about modernizing or expanding the Central Kitchen that already exists there so instead of constructing or building from the ground up we can think about how do we modernize and expand what's already there so that was site one and is the second site adult school plus Conference Center it was just Adult School by itself none of the above and I apologize for the confusion the second side would be a community slash Conference Center and so this is where we see uh bringing essential services to the south side of the district these are again just preliminary conversations and dreams that we've had with our city Partners in terms of some satellite opportunities um and bringing that to to some of the community in the South so that they have easier access to some of those things again um I um I think the the vision is that this would be yes in partnership with the city one thousand percent um but also in partnership with again County non-profits possibly faith-based organizations this is about bringing resources to our community uh where parents uh students community members can come and and get some of that much needed support that they may need but that this property would also be used for conference rooms meeting rooms you know that kind of nature for again District use and probably and possibly even public use as well if that were to happen to kind of pinpoint a little bit then that leaves the adult school without Sierra High School so the the west east side the east side of the campus would be vacant because Sierra would would move and then thinking about expansion at the adult school talked about uh you brought up Dr Beau you know fire police you brought up welding electrical I mean there's carpentry I mean there's so many things that we can think about uh but also taking that opportunity to to consider moving the Magnolia adult transition program to what would be vacant because Sierra leaves as part of allowing adults to be with adults and an adult on an adult campus thank you for that you got that clarification superintendent did you say that you would like to see the Community Conference Center at the former Sierra High School is um no I did not say that um again when we thought about Sierra High School to us it made sense that Slauson would be a great landing spot for that for some of the similar reasons that we have discussed we thought that the Community Conference Center uh The Perfect Landing location for that would be Central Middle School for some of the same reasons um there has been modernization there that hasn't been at all Sites it is called Center um I don't know if it's because it is the center of the city uh but if you look at the at the map I think it would be a perfect location when we think about our communities in the south in terms of easy access to those kinds of things and so that's that's what we thought would be a good landing spot for um the community slash Conference Center I have a question um just write off your idea the Community Conference Center if it would be at Center Middle School um what uh would it take to be able to go ahead and partner up with you know the wellness center as well from the city um to bring to open that up to our community for them to come and walk right for them to come and um uh or take and in the community uh the Community Resources right um like you said a library to partner with the Souza library and be able to bring some of some of those resources here um how about connecting with the DHS dmh and L.A County since it is in the LA County area as well bringing those resources to our community resource center yeah I I do not want to in any way shape or form speak for the city what I do know is that we have open dialogue we have collaboration these are not ideas that would be new to them we have had many conversations about opening up pop-ups or satellites in the south of some of the services that already exist in the north and again um we definitely Envision that we can have this great relationship with the city where we can work together to offer these these services to our community members but we don't also want to just say this is a city district thing we know that we want to leverage our partners our County Partners our non-profit Partners our faith-based partners to think about um together right when when you think about the all in for Azusa it's all in for Azusa and so again I do not want to speak for the city but I know that we have had uh conversations about things like this and I think it would be a perfect opportunity to together come together and say how do we for our city right that we all serve and love what can we do uh to to bring some of those things uh to to that neighborhood that we think uh would be a good match and I wanted to add you know besides you know what we want and with the 711 committee wants we were an outcry in December when we had a community meeting with the city the school district the police department um when we had those killings in Azusa and that was the out crowd of the community that there's nothing on the other side of town you know there's nothing for the kids to do this is like the big thing so this is my concern I live another side and and I see it I live there so I I feel that you know we don't have a park the closest park is well they have to cross the street to go to um Gladstone Park then you got to go to Valleydale which is also far away you know if you don't have a car you have to walk there so um that was the outcry of the people in that Community because that's where the tragedy was going on I just wanted to reiterate that it's it was the community after it during during the big meeting I have three thoughts slash questions so one referring back to the board president's question around overlap and alignment with these three areas under the the keeping of the two properties that it's not only is it an alignment it seems like through conversation that the district ideas were the source material for where these ideas made their way onto the to the paper I heard you speak to each of these pieces but not specifically to Athletics can can you speak to that portion of the thinking from the district I'll begin and then I think Sarah wants to uh jump in uh on that as well um and uh board member Rodriguez Pena in her comments reminded me of something that you know when we talk about um a a community center and we think about uh all of our partners um there are organizations like the boys and girls club that could bring a recreation but we also know that the city does Recreation as well and so if you have a community center where there's not a quote unquote school right and now you have these fields and you have the you know these big play areas then that becomes Prime opportunities for uh Recreation uh as well not only for kids but maybe even for uh adults but they're Sarah you want to talk about the I believe there was some conversation about maybe like some Central all right well it's green okay there you go okay hello um I just wanted to speak to the question about um specifically where did the idea in the 7-Eleven report about athletic fields come from um and I think it came from two different places when we spoke with the board originally I I think it was a few months ago now probably early to mid-summer um just to get some general ideas about you know what should we bring to the 7-Eleven are there additional thoughts that you want to share I think there was some discussion about Athletics and additional fields and how some schools didn't have the um the extent of facilities that maybe the board was looking for and so we took all those comments back to the 7-Eleven and they wanted to incorporate um we also had a couple 7-Eleven members that had seen other projects or ideas in other communities and and um kind of use that to reinforce ideas from the board and so that's how it kind of filtered into that that list of four things that you're seeing in the report and then I will additionally add just continue I want to continue to Echo and speak of speak about different Community organizations and and whatnot and what comes to mind for me um for example is uh the homework house and so the homework house happens to to have space on the church that I'm a pastor at and and just recognizing some of their needs um for for expansion as as they're offering services I I can't help it but as I as I look at some of these things just just see opportunities to some of the the resources that already exist in our community and I'll already have a proven track record of of um just just fruitfulness and and and finding ways to um to to be all in and utilize some of our some of our sites for for organizations and programs uh like like that for example and what are the others uh what what are ways that like you said we can almost almost immediately I mean if we were to look at something like Center I know we're being kind of hypothetical and theoretical here but if we look at something like Center Middle School by opening up space there we are are able to partner with with the the city and other organizations to immediately provide resources I mean in in a very quick um uh duration of time I just wanted to add to a board member Greer since you mentioned the homework house um I've got the director's name Jennifer Jennifer excuse me yeah she did at one point ask me why the students at Murray School did not go to to the homework house but the homework cost is way by the foothill Shopping Center you know and she did ask me that and and I told her that we need we did need a satellite um and maybe they would come then but she was trying to ask them you know you know I mean I'm not going to drive everyone there right right but you know she's asking me I'm like well I don't know I mean you know we have things together in our community so they're in school they go to think together and they're good with that but if they had a satellite homework house maybe they would attend so we did have that discussion at one point um and I think that would be great I wanted to um touch on a point that you brought up Mr Ortega about um that the city may already have programs that nonprofits may already have and I I want to just share my thoughts on not seeing this opportunity as we're replacing or competing necessarily but making sure that there's access right so we know we have our robust after school partner and think together and we know that there's a waiting list at many of the campuses we know that homework house serves hundreds of kids and could probably serve more if they had more space more teachers more staff so I just want to bring that lens of you know you win the lottery what would you like to do with it not to replace or displace Partners but spread the wealth literally spread the wealth create opportunities so that families can choose between those based on Transportation age of the student facility recreational facilities that are age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate I just want the lens of positivity to how we can build on the assets and I like what you said board member about kind of the tried and true Partners or those organizations that have track records right and and saying yeah this is something that we want to continue my last thought on this is um as we consider for example the idea of a conference center and we'd have multiple partners uh are we saying that these would these would be lease agreements so in in a sense that these would be um some type of Revenue centers we would have a lease agreement with on a lease agreement with the city a lease agreement with a faith-based organization kind of a you know vetted and trusted partners that would be occupying the space is that what we're talking about uh that is definitely a possibility I think uh I don't know if it was Dr Beau or um board vice president Rodriguez Pena we have it on our particular file uh we know that Pomona Roland and Armani already have community centers they all differ and so learning about their approaches learning about how they handle City partner versus non-profits versus County um and I think those are opportunities for us to learn about how they go about doing those things and so it is on our to-do list to get out to those three sites first again just to learn right they all have one but just to learn about how they went about it how do they handle uh the space What are the Agreements are they formal informal are they Revenue generating um are they are there waivers you know those kinds of things so that we can learn from from those who've already gone before us and and have built uh items so um don't know 100 and Sarah if you can get the um the podium mic volume okay let's try now there we go um I just I wanted to add from kind of a mechanic's perspective um to your question about uh does it does it have to be a lease or would it be a lease there's a um a number of different options we have under the education code for how we can allow uh for joint use of the facility um so we certainly could do a a more formal lease there's also sections of the code that allow us to do joint use between the district and other Community Partners um so instead of them being more formal leases it would be like a facility use agreement for example um you know there are various options and permutations about uh how much you charge and what the uh the terms are under those um under those joint use or facility use agreements but I just wanted to note there's um lots of options outside of a more formal lease about how we could go about um jointly using one facility with two three four five or more partners for example board vice president and then board member Greer and then board member Ariana so um I did go to Ona they actually I don't know they just the the Indian Hill the mall I went over there to to go to one of the buildings right on like you know I mean I don't want to get that big okay because there was a lot of a lot of empty rooms and where I had to go the garage come out and get me and take me you know because it's very huge um but I guess that's an idea but I also wanted to ask um so can they rent a room is that a possibility also you can like this I want to rent this room yes yes um so that is definitely a feature of a joint use our facility use agreement we could designate particular spaces rooms and outdoor spaces usually we're pretty diligent about ensuring there's you know outdoor space and restroom space for example that can be shared at a single facility but uh but we would designate various um you know uh kind of small spaces like I would think of like a beehive for example right if there are like little little clusters um and and you can have as many agreements as you think makes sense to have various groups use use the same facility but they would also need to get insurance right their own insurance is that that's that is definitely a feature of those agreements we would have insurance and indemnity and all types of other Provisions to make sure that um the school district is um is protected right in in having all those uses on the same site okay thank you and I want to add I love the idea of contacting these other districts to kind of understand what is in essence their their business model for for how they go about partnering with some of these different Community Partners and other organizations I wanna I also want to throw out there and just just put this on the the table for the the board I personally as I think about some of these things am less concerned about Revenue generation when it comes to a community resource center of sorts I'm I'm less concerned about it Revenue generation and instead see an opportunity for for um the what what is being generated is resources and and by having space that we have available and and partnering with again trusted proven uh organizations to be able to offer services I personally am I just just want to say that I'm less interested in in making making a dollar from that and instead saturating a region with uh with resources there are other properties that we can look at as we consider Revenue generation and and what is the means through which we can best accomplish that goal but I just want to want to throw that out so some sort of joint use agreement or or finding ways to offer services even if it doesn't put money in the district it still it still serves the uh our community I was gonna ask or just to the extent that it would help kind of guide the discussion um I know on that same page five of the report that we looked at earlier um the recommendations um four and five on that page um spoke to the potential use lease sale or otherwise like leveraging some of the other properties to help to generate Revenue that could be used towards you know bringing forward some of these really exciting ideas that we've talked about tonight I wonder if the board has any additional thoughts on those recommendations just as we as I work with staff to to try and put forward some um some next steps that we can bring back to you all I I would like to respond to that but I also want to honor my colleagues uh point in the line so Boardman Marianas as we're talking it seems like we're fully invested in this community resource center because it's it's been a good minute that we've been talking about this because it's exciting right to be able to to have some type of space um one of the things um that Parks and Recreations uh used to do with the cbdg grants was uh they were able to um have coaches come out to the elementaries and uh be able to provide athletic services and those students that were not in thing together were able to participate and um were able to to compete at this time um I don't think we have any uh Parks and Recreations in any of our schools I also think that um you know when we talk about the city we need to also um incorporate the resources that they provide right most of them are above the 210 right the the um the senior center um Memorial Park and so forth uh what's the other one um library right I think it's a variety of things that that we are um sharing today that um like that's why I stayed staring at you because it's it's yes it is important right um that we don't make Revenue but at the same time there's grants out there um there's grants that we can tap into um with the non-profits that we can partner up with you know there's a there's a lot of money out there in L.A County um that we can tap into right that would benefit our students so I think looking at the um at the resources right but also looking at how can we provide these resources and and where's the money coming from as well because there is Grants out there for the libraries for you know after school programs other than think together meaning that like the homework house right um Apu is another resource too that we can actually um tap into as well to bring into um you know more in-depth and uh with with our uh as we're processing this and trying to figure out our Community Conference Center um and not just that but also um the um the adults called The Magnolia adults Adult Day transitional program right I I think it it's important too that you know the life skills we have we have the adult life skills about the students that for example that have you know more and more we have more students with IEPs and 504s students with special needs right what are we providing for them I think that we also need to ask ourselves what resources are we providing for them regional center right can can we tap into that um I think it's important because um even though that we know um that there's no way around about what's happening in our society that more and more students are being identified um I think it's that we should be proactive in being able to tap into that as well um because there's a lot of grants for for that too so just wanted to share that with you um Sarah your question to to the board was uh does the board want to give any uh making requests for information so that you could come back to inform our conversation specifically around um monetization or sale or lease of properties that is that your um your suggestion or a request asking us if we had requests for specific information so your team can prepare that yeah I think to to to be more specific um I would I would pose it and kind of a kind of two separate ways I think we've we've we've talked a lot tonight and I've heard some great ideas from the board about ways to use existing facilities and some Community uses that we're excited about and I just um I guess as my as my first as my first point or first you know request or suggestion didn't know if there was any need for additional discussion about trying to leverage some of those other sites for the purposes of of funding some of the ideas that we have um that we've talked about and then um outside of just additional you know discussion on that point from the from the five board members whether there's additional uh like specific action items that you would like staff to to take from tonight so that we can explore those things further and bring you more information whether that be on use of sites for revenue or some of the ideas that we've already talked about I just want to I just want to ask for a break I got off work at four it's like seven o'clock and I I really want to be here for this discussion we'll take a five minute recess welcome back uh we are reconvening from our short recess um Barbara Baron is where are you going to make a comment before before recess no I just wanted to make sure that we had plenty of time to discuss the question that um she was asking so I I'd like to um offer a thought to my colleagues um I'm hearing a lot of synergy around the ideas of conference center and also to lesser extent but I think what we're getting there about Sierra High School and uh expanding the Central Kitchen I I'm wondering um how we can move forward in phases right because it sounds like we want to do the the walking tours of the different sites at different districts and cities we want to get more information have the two by two have some sort of broader meeting with the city to better and clearly understand current city priorities um so I'm not sure that we can go forward with recommending or diving into a disposition of all of the properties before we have at least those big pieces of data and I'm also suggesting that I'd like to drill down on these two concepts of the conference center conference Community Center and then Sierra and and kitchen being extensions of current programs um and also specifically looking at the idea of these two Slawson and Center being sites that are um most recently modernized in terms of the the lift it will take to bring them up to where we want them those being the most affordable on the list so that was kind of my reaction to are we ready to talk about sale release I'm not ready to talk about Sarah Elise I'd like to focus on this part and understand that we can do things in phases um and give it that deep thought and more research and so I'd like to hear what my colleagues think about that approach the only I I mostly agree with that and the idea that we would focus our efforts in a particular like there's there's plenty to do just with what with what you mentioned at the same time I recognize that considering what we would do with our with those other properties takes a considerable amount of time um I my concern is that without giving some direction to at least start pulling on some strings that by the time we get around to that so much time will have been passed uh that that really might have been unnecessary so so I do agree how can we focus the majority of our energies on on these things that you're that you're mentioning that makes sense to me but still reserving some some bandwidth for for starting the process of looking at some of these other sites board member I understand you want to just go in order yes as uh I mean hypothetically it sounds uh it sounds what we just shared uh board member Beau but I do agree I think that what will happen is kind of what happened with Mountain View and um thank you thank you yes you know empty buildings the grass is growing and so forth so we simultaneously I can't say simultaneously I think that we have to be able to approach this simultaneously to be able to go ahead and yes you know maybe perhaps divide and conquer like you know maybe the cabinet can you know some of them focus on this and some of them can focus on that project and so forth um I I know that that's a lot a lot but at the same time you know if you you guys have proven to to us that you guys uh can handle it and we believe in you and there might be a little hiccups but again I mean being able to just make this transition into to a dream that we've never had before here in Azusa the possibilities that may come so I do agree that some things need some attention right away but I also feel that simultaneously we have to be able to move and walk forward with this and not leave any empty buildings for any you know for any long periods of time so um what I would like to add I think that um we do need to concentrate on we are already discussing um but we should also discuss what property can we get revenue on since we are not focusing on revenue on on we'll say the community center I'm just calling it that um but we need to still continue we don't want to leave empty buildings what happens is we get vandalism vandalized and we end up getting more than what we started right so I think it's important that we start talking about I mean it's a hard it's going to be hard I understand but when you start talking about the sales what what properties out of the six when do we feel that um we can get Revenue I mean because that's what it's all about in order um when we get Revenue we can work on the other schools that are that are still um standing right so I think that we need to focus and and just come right out and feel you know which properties should we sell I mean what ideas do we have so we can that's the whole idea of closing the schools was to get Revenue that's my input so I'd like to add on that I think um for me that the piece that I feel like I would need as an individual trustee to start exploring sales of property is understanding very clearly the city's vision of where it wants to build housing build program centers um because I wouldn't want to say School site x yet we're going to move forward with that sale and come to find out maybe that's not the place where the city would want to build housing as an example um so I'm not saying that we shouldn't um explore and get more information you know follow those simultaneous overlapping paths I just feel like I would not be I don't feel well equipped to do that without understanding what the city's plans are and so maybe my request is how can we with you as a partner facilitate getting information from the city I know that I believe we asked that question about the the arena quota and we I don't think we got an answer is that now are we able to get some of that information from the city about how it's planning on meeting it's you know doing its its part in filling out uh housing for the community yeah so I can address this in a number of different ways I think to to start with maybe kind of re reframing my question a little bit in a way that that gets to what you all are saying um I'm I'm not necessarily saying that you know I would expect you tonight to say we want to sell this site you know go do it um instead I'm thinking you know if if maybe the direction looks like we would consider selling one or two sites let's have staff explore which sites have the most value for sale potentially which could generate the most Revenue that we can put back into these programs um which you know upon additional discussion with the city would they be would they be more likely or um would they want the school district to designate or use for the community center as opposed to a site a site that could be sold to generate Revenue um just hearing if if the board is even open to those discussions about you know bringing forward more information about which sites have more value for example or some of those other factors that I mentioned I think even just that would give staff some instruction that we could go bring back more information for you all between the two of you who had their hand up first yes um what I would like to see just like what you mentioned the worth of the property you know the value of the property and of course the location is really important uh so we can have something to go by financially you know if um if that's what we want to do with with that particular property not necessarily a location do you need a location or you're just going to look at all of them or how how are you going to go about that well so we um we currently have some values that uh the dcg has been able to help us generate for for each of the properties and that's something that we would discuss with the board in closed session if we wanted to talk about specific numbers just so we wouldn't have any uh you know ability to compromise negotiation with some future party at some future point if that's what the board decides um but I think probably what we would look at doing is if the board said we we want to explore you know sale or like long-term lease of you know say for example you say of two sites then we would go back to some of those numbers and we would look at those that have the highest value potentially to generate Revenue so that we're getting the most most bang for the buck right in in disposing of a single site with higher value um and then also compare that to you know feedback from the city and then also um you know potentially excluding the sites that you've already said you want to explore for the community center or for other existing District uses also I also wanted to add that I'm not sure if board member adirondis knows I know she spoke about this um homes for the homeless and the last thing the city of Azusa they decided on the area on used to be the d-cub they are going to make um housing for the homeless a shelter and it would be done by December so it's just to give you a heads up on that they are the city is working at that at this time where is that again by the D club I'm not sure what the question but going to buy Costco in the in the uh-huh right yeah yeah and and well if you you can see the meeting online and hear the discussion that's what I'm a great board member Greer I want to say again I I want to express it's it's not it's not so much a hesitant to offload and sell property but maybe it is but it it what it really is is that if we do sell a property I I would really want to make sure that we're having conversations with the city and with what are what are the needs and and the what and how because we we don't get the property back I know that there have been conversations the last time we met and we talked about some properties if I'm if I'm not mistaken can be segmented or or parceled out so if we were to say we're gonna We want to sell a portion of the property but still retain a portion of the of the property and ask yourself and then then explore what might we be able to do with a smaller portion of the of that of that property um another thing that I heard suggested by I believe board member Ariana's but I don't I don't know that we spoke to it is we we do have other like in here off off of Arrow um the the circuit so even thinking about that and I and I don't know if because that's Regional if there's if they're what kind of issues there would or wouldn't be with looking to relocate that um another thing I I wonder is where are we if anywhere at all with any leases long-term or short-term leases that we currently have with any partners and would it be the intention at this moment to not renew those or to renew those on on shorter term leases as we're exploring some of these options that would be something to keep in mind I I like the idea of in some of these instances or or properties where we can engage in long-term leases so that 20-year lease or you know or more so that in 20 years whoever is sitting at in these seats have options available to them as opposed to where we've made decisions now that that limit uh additional expansion options into the future so the thought of selling some I'll confess that I will be I will have a lot of questions and and I will I will there will be some pushback that comes from me to pressure test some of some of those those ideas um but my hope would be that if we did offload some that we would find some creative ways of of still retaining other properties board member awareness and then I will I'd like to offer a comment too as um I'm sorry uh Sarah had shared there's a few sites that we have already um kind of already spoken about today and those are three so that leaves us three other sites right being able to that there was a conference that I went to a few years ago and I I was speaking to the superintendent and the board members that were at my table and one of the things that they did in their District to speak on uh what just board member Greer spoke about was that they leased their property to a housing developer and so that basically the land continued to be part of the district and they collected Revenue infinite so they never sold but yet was serving the purpose of what the community needed and so I know that and pre when I came back from the dish from that conference I had asked um cabinet to look into it did we did we find out what they how they did it do you remember the okay let's let's Circle back on that um because I knew that they were actually the community was really happy that they were um not only did the district keep the revenue of the lease for um for the developing uh townhouses that went up one of uh the other um uh uh sites was one of them went to uh like I said earlier to um employees that were only going to be um uh allowed to you know the people that were uh that were tenants that were going to be able to come in were employees um the other one was uh uh what is it called for the L uh the retired like a retired community and then the third one was like um police officers or emergency responders so to be able to you know continue to bring um to our community uh the individuals that will be able to bring their kids to our schools you know and that would um I would like to see that happen um so perhaps a site or two you know we can discuss about maybe not selling but leasing but only to residential and looking what that looks like can I request for you to please I'm um I find out what school district that was and um see what they did I can I can add to that too if it's helpful just kind of some of the things that we've seen with with other districts um there is definitely a trend towards looking uh towards building Workforce housing um there there are some State programs that have helped facilitate ways for districts to do this in a in a I would say a faster or like easier way um so we can certainly bring forward some additional materials about that site that school or other other schools that have explored it um the other thing to keep in mind and we we talked about this extensively extensively with the 7-Eleven committee was just you can certainly do a like a long-term ground lease right and it would it would be really long term for the developer to to want to build infrastructure that they knew wouldn't ultimately belong to them at the end of the term um but uh one thing to think about from a from a practical perspective is you know I I've I've spoken with some boards that just say we we are really hesitant to become landlords right there's such a scope of work that we already do as a school district and our our staff already kind of has their has their plates full to to take on the job of becoming a commercial landlord right and and all of the responsibilities um associated with that and and the headaches of you know of evictions and and all of those pieces that come along with it um certainly doesn't have to be a deterrent from this idea of of you know Workforce housing but it's just kind of one more practical piece to keep in mind so um just to your point since you're going to do the research I would like to see the pros and cons and what you say and what were the um what were the issues that you know uh that came about and in reality I mean was it the school district that was actually the what do you call it uh when someone's um uh like the managing company right this is from what the dis the superintendent said to me they actually had a managing company do that not the actual district and so if you could please provide that information um I I'd really like to read what they've what they've done the pros cons and management companies and um and so forth and for how long my question um dovetails off of yours around the um would it be called like a housing corporation that manages the lease properties and is that so if we could get more information about that what that corporate structure looks like and if the district is if that's an LLC and if the district controls that what what what the relationship would be between the district and a separate entity and I I wanted to bring the um idea about long-term growth and capacity uh to you know the idea of when when a district sells a property we never get it back right so at some point right there's there are population brooms and Ebbs right now and I want so superintendent if you could um send us again I know we did this a year ago um send us a sheet on each of our current sites Uh current schools active School sites the number of seats and the current capacity so for example if Azusa High is if the current capacity is 2 000 seats are we at 1800 seats right just to see where if we didn't build any additional buildings on campus where at what point could we get if we have an influx of families right and then we would need how many more new seats for elementary and as that population floated up just to kind of level set on the existing capacity and how much capacity we would want to retain um for flexibility into the future and my question in the district that I came here in the garbage School District they um East Delhi College was in the area and they leased out one of the schools and used it as a satellite schools the people in the community I don't know of Apu or Citrus College has reached out to us at all but I think that would be a great idea also um Longfellow State School their their school is so small they don't have a parking area or if you park at the wrong side you get a ticket because you're in the wrong side I mean it's like around you know you'd never really know what which side to right side so I I would like to see Longfellow relocated um where they have a parking place they're just like they're in the corner do they do they have a cafeteria there I I did they I've never been um in their cafeteria but um I think it's a state program also so I just denied just an idea in my mind me that I would love to see some creative options and I know that's that's so vague and I'm throwing that out there but it's really easy to just say we have properties how much can we get for them let's let's sell them and now how much money do we have and let's let's just throw that money in another place but but really thinking about creative options and so if if we were going to offload how do we offload properties if we were going to retain how can we creatively retain those properties we have ever had conversations here about property swaps and and what how what what are the potential that can happen with property swaps and would that be advantageous for us as a district um I want to say I think some of the creative things I've heard from here just at this point at this stage just considering them that what if there was housing that would be provided you know Workforce housing what if we did do that what um what goes on there or if there was do we have any kind of housing that we can get into for for families or whatnot in the region um my hope would be that whatever comes our way is not just cookie cutter in nature but really taking into consideration who are we as the Azusa Community plus um and and and how how might we utilize these these resources and property retain them uh generate Revenue in the long term just just really being creative about how we would approach that that's something that I would appreciate hearing back from uh your team further comments are we getting toward the end okay board vice president I think we do yeah yeah I think we have some things we can look at and bring back and I think to to confirm it sounds like we're really gonna gonna focus our exploration about sites not used for one of the purposes that we talked about tonight on um other options outside of sale potentially some Workforce housing some uh some long-term ground leases bring that forward first for discussion before we talk about any any other options with the addition very much with the addition of uh what president you spoke to the need for us to gather gather data um in concert with our city and and um County Partners uh that that'd be another thing that would be I think helpful for us to to have some action kind of steps lined up uh to to be able to gather that that information could I add a Nuance because I'm not I I think I heard 90 Sarah what you said but I didn't hear that we would leave off because I'm envisioning like a t-chart like here's options that you can consider for properties from ground leases to leases I did not hear that we leave out the option of sell like that should be part of of a robust conversation about Saline may or may not be an option but we should include that information as well yes including it um just with the emphasis so I think the emphasis was on the only option should not be just sell correct other creative Revenue generating options correct and even those parents said that she has everything that she needs to move forward um I I would like um for the board to weigh in on providing Direction in terms of how we see this uh playing now so for example um we want now for every regular Board of Education meeting moving forward to have space to have this conversation now keep in mind that that now is part of a regular board meeting with everything else that happens with that no we have study sessions already built into the calendar the board of of Education would like to direct that moving forward study sessions are now going to be focused on this so that it's not in between other things and we have ample time to discuss or something else that the that the board I think uh we we would really love to hear how how you see this moving forward and what the direction would be in terms of continuing this conversation and having opportunities to discuss uh what we are doing at every meeting at every meeting I would like to see an update because um one of other things to discuss during our study sessions uh and you know Financial that we need to hear also I don't want to just focus on on just just consider going for years I have a feeling and um I think like you give the word update that we had the reorganization you know we had big topics and you'd give us an update and we'd ask questions or go back to it um because also that would you have an update everybody would you think I believe for sure for the first one for the first couple of ones I think there's enough to to continue this this well that's what I would like to see I would agree um an update but for a discussion I would I would personally like to schedule a study session for us to freely speak about this and not have other pressures of pressure pressures of time and you know impeding us to be able to have this open dialogue um in conversation and to only focus on on this but an update I would agree on at every meeting but I would like to continue also setting time aside for a study session make perhaps quarterly or you know something like that that we can um agree on for us to be able to have a robust conversation I'm in agreement with board member um Rodriguez in that the idea that we not Reserve all of our we don't just kind of call dibs on all of our study session you know henceforth that they're on this particular topic I I can't imagine that there won't be another study session where we're talking about this because there are items that we need to discuss as a matter of fact I would recommend since we heard a lot of synergy around the concept of these these two items of of what do we what do we say the Sierra High School in a centralized kitchen and you know all that can go into that as well as a Community Conference Center it would make sense to me that maybe we have a a conversation in a study session where we're focused on those two items I think that speaks to board board president's uh suggestion that we divert a good majority of our attention to these while other things continue to happen in the background I think that there is work for us to do um quickly around that there's there I don't see a reason for us to to delay that um I would hope that and would really love to see us work towards a joint session I know that we've between us and the city to to discuss some of these things again I know that it's something that we have talked about and we've dreamed about as we've already stated here how do we work that into a timeline and say that as part of this process where we are wanting to hurry up and take the time that's needed uh to do it right but recognizing that uh one part of that process is to have some some joint conversation around that so how do can can we put a date on the calendar and start working toward that closer to you know at this point as opposed to just continuing to Kick the Can down the road uh and I think that there continues to be work for the ad hoc committee to do in the interim uh to engage in some of these initial conversations and would love to hear some of that reporting back to the the rest of the the board um would be open to having updates especially due to the the frequency of meetings that we have at this point uh that it would be helpful to have at least some space to be provided with some update my hope is that we don't allow find ourselves in a situation where years down the road we're still just talking about this but that instead we we can actually some targets have some goals and have some measurable progress toward toward moving these these items forward one thing that I did forget that board member just um address was that that joint uh meeting with the city council I think it I would like to request um for our superintendent to sit down with city manager and get possible dates and that way we can um uh decide and I would like to see that in the next or in October in the next couple months I think I'm going to Echo pretty much the sentiment of regular updates during regular board meetings right so that we can take bites right because we'll we'll have to schedule a tour go on tours right get do the research on um other business models um and I think what we will also need some dedicated time and it sounds like that's going to be an additional meeting because is our next study session January or when is our next scheduled study session our next scheduled study session is December 5th okay which is also a reorganization meeting that's not a reorganization meeting that's not our reorganization um well so given that do we want to have a separate study session or use some of the time is there a proposed theme for the December study session already no I am comfortable with using December 5th that's that seems to be a fitting timeline as a matter of fact I know you talked about looking at a joint session in the next couple of months it would actually make sense to me if we had some updates if there were some ad hoc conversations if we set December 5th as a Target date for us to have another robust conversation about these things and then if we look first quarter of next year maybe earlier as opposed to later in the in the first quarter if we were able to have a joint session we will have then had some time to discuss some of these items further uh before we we met with uh our counterparts with at the city so I don't think there's a need to schedule an additional study session I think that I would recommend I would suggest that we utilize this the already scheduled December 5th meeting for this topic quick question for Sarah when will we have the information that we've asked for because that would play an important role by December 5th can we get this is what I'm what I'm asking since we are going to start having discussions and being able to at every October we're going to have a board meeting November and they said so we only have like two board meetings before we have another meeting when do you think you'd be able to provide that information I I certainly think we could provide some preliminary information about the the questions about like Workforce housing and long-term ground leases um on or before the December meeting and and then certainly if you want to do a deeper dive into any of the components of that because it's a big idea right and there's there's lots of lots of pieces but we could bring some preliminary information to that December 5th meeting and then you know do a deeper dive into any aspects that you want to know more about I'm gonna get myself in trouble and the staff's gonna growl at me um so maybe uh when we think about this systematically maybe October so 10 10 in a regular Board of Education meeting we provide X information that X information that is going to be information that the Board of Education can digest think about in November we bring another valuable piece of information that again the board can think about and digest not an open you know but then that those two things in conjunction with anything new can then be part of that big conversation that's going to happen December 5th so that we're not you're not waiting until December 5th for information but that we can chunk out for example at the October meeting we'll bring you a better understanding of the vision of why Slauson or Sierra Central Kitchen blah blah and center right and and some information about that and maybe more requests can can we do this and then maybe at the November meeting it's hey here here are a lot of things to consider regarding properties that you might do work for hot Workforce housing blah blah blah blah like again some kind of T chart we have Lauren here and they have uh a lot of experience with a lot of districts throughout the state of California with some of these things so that when you come to December like we've already giving you like a lot of things to consider to say okay to process and and to and to think about so in December now let's let's create that space to now have real conversations about those things and I think that that sounds right because at the October and November we will have additional questions right it will have an additional request for information so does that sound right also could I also request that for I appreciate space like this for us to talk and and there's there's space for us just to explore all the options can I ask that for the December fifth meeting that we have some targeted outcomes or or hoped for outcomes even if it's even if it's rough um so that there is room for us to have open discussion but also more clearly understand what what is it that we would be working toward and and looking to accomplish within that meeting so you like defining the goal you that you would like to have for the December meeting is that what I'm hearing yeah and it doesn't I'm not I'm not concerned that it's tremendously specific but just just to give some structure to our to our conversation so with that being said I think that we need the information before December 5th so we'd be able to go ahead and read it process it and be able to have our you know a a conversation be able to go ahead and then create some structure what do you guys think sure um also I I would like to know timeline wise regarding you know police sale um what we did we already took into for the community center you know time wise you know how long would it take we'll just you know if it took a year six months do can you do that would that be possible to just like I know where we're going with each um item yeah so I can I can certainly come back with um kind of a rough timeline we can't know exactly until we know what we're doing right but um I can certainly speak to you know there are certain procedures in the Education Code that we have to take before we could sell or or lease a property and those um just to kind of throw a couple out there for example there are certain like statutory offers that we have to make to uh nonprofits and uh to government entities and they have uh they have it designated like a series of like waiting periods right so we know that we would have to wait at least that long to be able to decide how to move forward with with you know some other option well because we uh I'm familiar when we had the the um you know we didn't know about the DSA approval they need approvals you know how long does it take to have this approvals and people so well you're taking so long but they have to realize it's like sitting at home and you have to get permits and and so forth and you're not the only one they're looking at so if we have a rough time like what I think would help us move forward sure sure yeah the only thing I will say is you know uh the timeline for a sale is going to look a little different than the timeline for for a lease right and if we're doing um entitlements of a property you know for whatever reason you know that's going to extend the timeline for a sale so we can I think though that you know we can pull together kind of a rough timeline that um helps to kind of accommodate or give you an idea of what some of the various options could look like so that you have something in mind when you're when you're considering great thank you very much board member uh boardwise it wasn't it can I ask a clarifying question to your request um the way I hear your question I'm thinking that you're asking about a timeline for like a remodel not a lease in sale or either one okay I mean it really do we have a time I mean if we're going to sell like we're going to remodel just so we can go something to go to go by yeah where I was going was let's say conference center right yeah as we know if we're going to make improvements what does that look like right with DSA with improving things that are already on this list so that we know if we're good with that are we 18 months out just based on approvals yeah I think it's the only thing I'll I'll say to that is again I think we can get a a rough timeline but until we know specifically what we would be updating how much square footage we would be adding what types of additional you know improvements we would be making to the building it's really hard to get you a specific timeline right that they can nail down some of those some of those pieces but I think we can look at um you know if we throw some ideas out there about what what what the community center would would would look like um we could try to you know pull together kind of a rough timeline you know without going as far as working with an architect to to draft initial plan options or doing anything like that that would definitely allow us to get a more precise timeline right yes I have a clarifying question um would you like a staff to present some draft objectives for the December meeting was that the Board of Education that's coming up with the object on the run the objectives for December I'll say me personally I'm comfortable if if staff were to look at that of course in conjunction with board the board president to look at some some of those things to speak on behalf of of these things but the structure that we already have in place where where combination of staff and the board work on the agenda I'm I'm comfortable with with that um and I don't even have any recommendations right now other than uh just having some some structure for the conversation thank you I agree final thoughts colleague I just want to thank my colleagues tonight um I I this is uh definitely we're ripping off the Band-Aid that has been in this district for a while and so being able to be on the what would you call this level second level third what level are we on um you know phase three a school reorganization okay phase three of this art reorganization and I just want to thank my colleagues for being open and uh creating a safe space for us to share our thoughts um and where uh we all agree and this is what I want to thank you on that we don't just want to make a decision on now we want to make a decision for our future posterity here in Azusa Unified School District and with that being said Thank You colleagues thank you cabinet and thank you who all attended um thank you have a good night and I bring it back to our board president awesome so it is uh now 753 is there a motion to adjourn second all right and I don't know if I'm still on logged in hold on um what was it coming up for you okay so we'll take hand motion to adjourn yes yes and yes um this meeting is adjourned at 7 54. thank you so

so all the numbers that you'll see some of the indicators that are in accountability include MCAS data from the previous two years access data which is our data on multilingual Learners proficiency chronic absenteeism Advanced coursework four-year cohort graduation rate the annual dropout rate and then extended engagement rate and what that is is they look at four-year cohort graduation rate and extended engagement as any student that we retain and have them graduate after four years and so in terms of accountability the Department of Education classifies there's two accountability categories one is districts and schools requiring Assistance or intervention and the other one is not requiring assistance so in terms of calculations not to make it too complicated but just to so you can have some context to understand a little bit a lot of these points are four points in order to get points if you go down in a category you get no points if you stay the same and there's no change you get one point if you improve below Target if you improve but below your target you get two points if you meet your target if you get three and if you exceed you get four and so that's the the point categories again here's our accountability indicators and points earned you can see the points earned versus total possible points and the percentage of weight in each category so for achievement which is actually MCAS achievement we earn two out of four possible points for ELA we earn we did not earn any points in math yet and science we earn two points so we we achieve we earn two points out of a possible 12 for achievement for growth in both English language arts and math we earn two out of four for eight Ela and one out of four for math and for the other indicators for high school completion we earned four out of four for graduation four out of four for extended engagement and three out of four for annual dropout rate but that three just means that we met our Target but did not exceed it um our we earned three out of four points for our attainment for our English Learners our multilingual Learners and their proficiency and then those extra indicators are chronic absenteeism a four out of four an advanced coursework completion a zero out of four and advanced course coursework completion that zero just again means that um we it's not that we don't have any advanced coursework but the number of students in advanced coursework declined so our classification is not requiring Assistance or intervention we had a 51 percent we've made substantial progress towards our Target and our overall accountability percentiles 39 percent that's why I put that in green um and so in terms of our progress towards the target again the number 29 is the same for 2019 2020 and 2021 because there was no accountability so they assigned the same numbers and this year uh we are at 51 percent so in terms of percentile it's the same here you can see our percentiles remained it was a 27 in 2019 so it was assigned last year it was 34 and this year we are at 39 percent and just a quick progress towards our Target comparison again these are to similar districts but only at the high school because some of these are comprehensive districts so their targets are different for high schools and then our accountability percentile comparison so I know that's a lot to digest but I wanted to at least share it and you have the information also I can send through the superintendent a link to the Department of Ed for additional information but I'm happy to share our accountability and our MCAS results and I think that we are slow and steady making substantial progress there's lots to think about here because we have return we're still continuing to see the impact of the pandemic we're monitoring also all of our programmatic changes our schedule changes our time on learning minutes our curriculum to make sure that we continue to go up thank you I have one question not on your report our student Representatives how do we how are we doing with that yes thank you I'm sure you they would definitely not give you an accountability report so that'd be good so um there actually I'm alrighty we have Noah playing snake snake is a very great bee character and the other team playing link link is a very awesome great B character it looks like they're just spacing right now just one to get a much further away as possible I was like no it takes the first stop it's a matter of the upbeat but he misses the forward smash let me goes for the down Air does not connect but he does connect with a C4 link does get the stock with the up B Noble grabs tuck and roll he's gonna shoot a missile at him Noah gets the up till KO stocks are 2-1 right now guys for up smash does not connect with it though hits himself with a C4 link throws his bomb Castle misses it oh he almost got a shield break oh link does not get the KO the up B almost yeah we almost got the KO well Pokemon scene 2 has a smallish side Blast Zone so it would not be surprising that you can kill off the side at like 50 so yeah link does get The Knockout with the update he should go flying Noah's really putting in the effort here goes for his missile he connects it this is the second one yep me he hits it but he also goes for down air which connects that and it looks like the Miss of the next that's a JV alrighty we're gonna see who they're gonna counter pick [Music] alrighty so a few things we are reversing here we go laville Lancers so Pokemon Stadium 2 is going to be the starting match if they lose the first set they get a counter pick a stage but counter picking is a stage that benefits their characters a lot more than the benefits or characters looks like they're having a little bit technical troubles picking a new character technical difficulties much no not really oh yeah just waiting for a Pikachu characters what we're doing right now yeah Pokemon Stadium 2 is inspired from the Pokemon franchise uh which one though none in particular it does originally have stage hazards but we have [Music] very creative name we have up there ABC for the stage room now looks like they're shooting an air horn oh it looks like the counterpicked see what they pick looks like they picked Jigglypuff puff is a pretty floaty character I kind of want to see where this one goes and for those who are not familiar with the real set since Noah lost two socks in the first game he has to SD which is self-destruct two times in this beginning of this game and then they go into time and that means they're both ready cool it looks like they accidentally picked the wrong map they were on Smash fill instead of Pokemon scene 2.

hello this is Yolanda Greaves it's time for the select board update for the meeting that happened on Wednesday September 20th we started at 6 15 with an exact session and then came into open session at 7 pm we started with some citizens participation and then jumped into a presentation by Jason pallet of the 495 partnership the 495 partnership is a non-profit organization that works and supports for economic development and transportation and other issues for about 36 communities around 495. it was a great presentation to hear what they're doing and how they can support us and the communities around us as well as businesses from there we went into old and new business we got an update on Cadillac paint Park one of the discussions was what should we name it so some people want to keep a Cadillac paint we've had some other names heart park because of all the work that Ed Hart has done there was a woman Susan larnis who apparently helped get this whole project started so we've considered some other names and what we're going to do is we're going to look at some other things and then put it out to the community to see what you think if you have a name you'd like to suggest you can shoot it to me or the full select board from there we went into an update and review of the Community Choice power program so this is a power program that gives Ashland as a community and its residents bulk buying power for your electricity and it last year we looked at doing a certain percentage completely green energy and a per certain percentage fossil fuel and mixed so we're in the process of looking at that again and we'll have more information and a final on that as we get into January when we get some the new rates we then discussed sidewalks and it got to be a very Lively discussion back uh probably about a year ago we had a sidewalk plan put together and the goal was put sidewalks on Route 3135 High Street and then Cedar Street and it was going to be in that order unfortunately the costs have gotten a little bit higher than we expected so we're going to do the hot the Route 135 and what the focus that we're looking at is from the Middle School all the way to the senior slash Community Center and because the pricing for that was higher than we had planned we're going to just focus on that and then see how we do High Street and Cedar Street and we might reverse which which order that we do Cedar Street so that it's for students walking to the high school and one of the focuses for Route 135 is for students who are coming from Olive Street and trying to walk along 135 to get to the middle school so that work is being uh engineered and then we're hoping to see construction of that of the Route 135 section in the spring and then we'll work on other areas moving after that we then discussed oh and just so that you know if you drive cordovil you'll see some sidewalk work being done there cordovil is a state road so the sidewalk work being done on cordovil is being done by the state I know most people don't realize it's a state road but it is from there we followed up and had a discussion about our joint meeting with the planning department with the planning board discussing MBTA communities and what we're going to be doing for that so A subgroup has been created so it's going to be Trisha Kendall from the planning board Joe magnani from the select board Peter magic and then our associate our assistant Town planner and Michael Herbert Our Town manager working to discuss what options we have in regards to zoning that we need to do to meet the MBTA communities act requirements so I think they're going to try to come to the select board a select board meeting probably our first or second one in November to have a discussion and then we may have to send the subcommittee back to do some more work but the Hope or the the goal is to be able to bring something forward to our community at the Springtown meeting we then went into our consent agenda and that was approved then we moved into our town managers report so the first thing we talked about was upcoming bonds so on for the Mendez School we're going to do something called bands which are short-term borrowing for some of the monies and we are actually still potentially getting more money from this state because they put 100 million dollars in the current budget to help those School building projects that had price escalations because of covid so we could potentially get another 3.4 or 3.8 million in reimbursement for the project so keeping paying attention and looking for that we then also got an update on the Mendez opening hopefully many of you had the opportunity to go and tour the school and if you didn't reach out and go take a look it's a wonderful building there'll be other opportunities to be in the building as we heard uh the um Halloween parade that's coming up at the end of October should be held in the Mendez gym and cafeteria we then uh had an update on article 14 so article 14 in our May 23 town meeting was talking about Net Zero in town buildings by a certain date apparently the Attorney General is questioning that and we're still waiting to hear more on that but we just got an update on that we then had our select board member updates and reports and then we were able to wrap it up about quarter of ten so that was the select board meeting that happened on Wednesday September 20th

one well maybe we can counteract it with a Chiron Jinx in post so 38 minutes to go here in the first half no score Bellingham trying to make a move here right around Midfield Great Stop on Mateus still Silva Alexandra St Laurent for Bellingham looking for a penalty nothing called and we continue play Keyshawn Graham passing it back and I shouldn't give him chase down the sideline cannot get it belt see ya Bellingham throwing that looks like Zachary and Men ghani is going to throw in here for Bellingham long throw in right along the line no whistle we're gonna keep play up to Center and here's Carlos Espino one of the co-captains for Ashland making the play a little quick give and go there turned over and here comes Bellingham they have numbers for a moment as the Ashland defense comes flying back looks like Ashland is gonna have a free kick right here looks like that one was called against bellingham's Alexandra Saint Laurent and it looks like this is going to be Carlos Espino with that free kick gonna booted about 30 yards downfield past everybody but Bellingham gathers a little trouble Gathering and here's an opportunity for Ashland if they can put something together coming in on that shot oh block the side I don't know how that goalkeeper I'll Crandall made the save there look at a 10 Bill opportunity for the clockers but they come up empty Crandall's somehow making the save as we tick down to 36 minutes to go in the first half Kendall boots it away right around the 40.

for things at the same time in this age of distraction Fool's Gold stay in the moment continue to be that gift to our community if you've proven you to me and remember that that visual of the pants say good morning I truly apologize hello everybody we're going to welcome you to our first Safety Committee I'm actually going to give everyone a couple more minutes um because I just realized the first link that I sent to everyone was only for those to view versus our fabulous Communications Department actually created links for each of you and I didn't catch that so let's just give everyone a couple of minutes if you guys don't mind but we will always start and end on time but I just want to be fair because I did just send the email when I just realized myself I couldn't get in and we could say oh you got to click on your own link and I didn't realize that click on your own click on your link and turn off your video in your microphone so everyone's clicking on all right we'll wait one more minute one more minute all right guys so we're gonna get started and again I want to apologize I started out when sending you guys a link that was for participants to view um just want to let you guys know this will always be streamed live on our YouTube um participants cannot log in um to communicate with us but they can hear our discussions um but I will go over how one could share some insights and information with us I'm going to start with saying welcome I want to welcome you guys all to our Safety Committee um one I want to thank you for taking this leap with us um this is new for us um this is new for us to have and so we're excited for it um had this Vision last year we met with our Union partners and said hey thinking about coming up with a Safety Committee we met as partners to say what does that look like what does the makeup look like of this committee um what um talked about how often we think we should meet when we should meet um and we came to the consensus that we'll be meeting we'll have about five meetings each meeting will be virtual so that way everyone can do it for the comfort of where they are we will start end on time started late today because I take responsibility for the link um and we will be talking about all things topics that you guys want to talk about and I'm going to go over later on in this in our meeting to tell you how you will bring your topics over um but we do everything through Google Drive so I share with you guys the agenda via Google drive but I'm also going to share my screen just in case um anyone is having a hard time I'm seeing that so thumbs up if you can see my screen so here is what our agenda will look like it will always follow this format um we will always start with a welcome um we'll have our introduction um and then where we have the Norms we'll go over the Norms today those will always be posted on our agenda but then when we go down to section E and F that's when we'll have topics that you guys bring um here um before we get started I want to have us all introduce ourselves and then we'll go over the Norms I will ask that we all stay muted um I can't call on you um so I would like if you would just raise your hand and then you unmute I'll call on you once I see the hand raise just say your name um identify if you're represented Association parent a student vice versa or anything you want to share but just so we can all know who's our Safety Committee family so again I'm Latasha Jamal the assistant superintendent of business for the Aziz Unified School District I'm audio with Mr mall and as well as participate in the committee and miss Patricia V hi my name is Patricia Valverde I'm a student at a sister high school I'm a junior and this is my first year in the state department awesome thank you thank you I think I caught everyone awesome awesome so guys again welcome um to the committee um thank you um for this I'm hopeful that this is our first of many committees um we started another committee that's called the budget Review Committee last year and we are carrying that board this year so we're hoping that the Safety Committee will also be just as fruitful I want to go over some norms so one how do we speak we want to ask that everyone remain muted so that way if you have any background noise or anyone in your area um if you could um remain muted and then only unmute when speaking um if you have a question you can raise your hand um but if an event that we have a special guest our presenter we would ask that you put your questions in the chat um and then we'll be sure to make sure we capture all those questions and we will try our best to either respond to the questions during the meeting or as a committee you will receive a response to all those questions um we want to ask everyone to be respectful for everyone's opinions though we may not always agree but we're all here for the same thing all things safety um we will always start and end on time no matter what I will never stop you in mid-sentence but I would be mindful to say hey we're hitting the six o'clock Mark we're going to have the table the our further the remain of our conversation discussion at a later meeting cool cool okay so one thing I want to talk about are objectives so I'm going to go over some of the benefits of a Safety Committee um one um first I want to make sure we understand that we're not here to just bring over our own personal complaints well this is a unified school district we're here as a committee for the entire District so we're not here just for our site specific though we may have safety concerns at our sites we have that opportunity to bring that up but we don't want to make this to be a pinhole where we're only focusing on one location we want to put things in place that we're addressing across the board so what would be a safety concern one and we're constantly seeing slip and Falls that's a district-wide initiative saying oh a safety concern is because I want the outdoor my campus paid a different color that wouldn't be truly deemed a safety concern if we're seeing a lot of our students I think we're having network issues come starting to freeze um but if all of a sudden we noticed that we're having a lot of bee stings that will be a safety concern that means we need to look into working with our grounds Department to ensure that we're not having bees or there's no hives and so forth and so forth so do we understand the difference between what we want to accomplish for our committee versus our goals so this is not a place to bring a list of our work orders this is a place that we're truly looking at all things safety um we will have the opportunity based on some of your recommendations to partner with Azusa PD maybe partner with Azusa fire maybe we have a desire to ensure that all of our safety drills are appropriate so that would be a topic that we'll bring up and then for us as the leaders of the committee it'll be our responsibility to bring the appropriate people that are a subject matter experts for that topic okay so I'm going to go over some item I'm going to share a slide here um let me stop presenting so I can open up this one just to go over some little slides that I have for us and then I can share again so this is just a little quick couple of slides to shows the Safety Committee I will not read them all but this is just so we can be aware of what is the perfect and benefit of the Safety Committee one it can reduce employee injuries um it creates a safe work environment a learning environment for all um safety awareness it will help us be the extra lens on things that we may be missing when I say we us as employees are missing on our campuses it'll also give us the opportunity because we are a mixed group we can see it from a different lens the lens of a student from a student the lens of a parent or a lens of administrator or as a staff person all right here we go what could or could who could or could I be on the committee anyone but what we wanted is for the person to truly have ties to Azusa so we wanted to have a representation from our teacher in Union representations from our classified Union representation for our management Union um representation from our specific departments such as special education we wanted to have representation from all of our love of our students from as you see we have preschool we have high school we have middle school and then we also wanted the voice of our student population as well um could we have outs uh community members on our committee we could but our desire was to focus on those that truly have a vested interest in our district and those that are currently here now that can help us understand all things safety and remember if you have a question or if I'm going through fast just say girl slow down Mr Noe did you have a question I know we didn't let you introduce yourself but I will let you before we end oh that's what it was you got it sir I got you okay the success a successful Safety Committee it defines the committee's duties responsibility um a successful committee is we're going to be able to follow our Norms we're going to have our topics we're going to be prepared for our meetings if we committed to bring something to you we're going to make sure we have a deliverable and not come back saying oh I'm sorry or if we put a topic on and we committed to have a presenting there whoever took on that responsibility they're going to make sure that they happen um another benefit is we try our best to be committed to being here for each one of our meetings we only schedule five they're only an hour long and we're asking that if we committed to be being on this committee that our voices are heard because that's what we want we want the opinion of everyone as a collective group to be here so when we're making decisions and recommendations we all have a unified voice but again we may not always have 100 consensus but we do understand we have a consensus of the goal of improving the safety for our district our duties um so we asked that one we regularly attend our meetings and participate we ask that we contribute to discussion not just be here just to listen and then um report out of what you didn't like about the meeting but truly being here and being an asset to the meeting um and we're also asking that when you're on your campuses that you bring back some things that you're hearing based on the topics that we're talking about so that way we can have another eye view of things that we may be omitting or missing out if we're going to implement something new you may have an idea as to a better way to roll this out maybe we're going to do another disaster drill you may have experience in that and we're asking that you feel comfortable with sharing your expertise also asking those that may feel that they have a better level of expertise that would be open to everyone's ideas and opinions our goal our goal is to create a list of items that will motivate us to be successful so for example what is some of the problems that we have what are some of the needs that we have as a district what are causing these problems are what is causing this need and then we establish a goal to create that so example here we have too many slip and falls and trips on our campuses so then that will be the focal point we know what the problem is so now we're going to set goals to achieve it does that mean we're going to put out more of the bumpers on the ground are we going to encourage everyone to have certain type of shoes just thinking of those type ideas so we identify First what the problem is we identify what is causing those issues then we come up with a goal and then we work towards what we need to do to achieve it we do have to understand that if some things require a commitment as far as a financial commitment those are things that we would then have to take to the board education or those specific departments to say hey these are things that we're seeing but through our insurance company we do have things that are considered safety credits um that are when we are able to truly identify things as a safety need we could present that to our insurance company and say based on our Safety Committee now that we have one based on our Safety Committee these are some of the things that they would like to us to address and then we can reach out to our insurance partners and say hey can you guys help us with this initiative so we have options so what are some safety goals that the district can establish that's what we're going to do as a committee so at our next meeting I'm going to after tonight I'm going to share with you guys what's considered a Google sheet and those are all things topics that you could put down that you feel what I do ask is that we have to put our name by the topic we can't just fill up the sheet with just topics and wish lists but it's literally you'll put your name I'm going to reach out to you and say hey I saw this topic um once we figure out um a consensus of topics we will take them uh let's say if a lot of them are coming up with heat heat heat not ACS but just heat uh not we don't have enough shade outside it's hot outside we have a lot of things around that topic that may be a topic that we'll put on for the next agenda with that for example that topic we'll make sure we'll have made us an operation here so we can understand how we handle our trees how do we determine how we cut our trees which how do we determine if our trees are able to give a shade or do we need to Pivot to shade structures and what does that look like um So based on what you guys put on the sheet that will drive the topics for the next upcoming meeting and based on those topics will determine if it's District staff that will be doing the presentation or if we need to have an outside agency to partner with us so I'm showing this picture what do you guys see wrong with this picture go for it Miss Meg well I see potential chemicals medicines paints on the bottom that are unsafe for children depending on where they are on that shelf or where that shelf is located and I'm coming from a teacher-centric lens um where I'm thinking that is unsafe for children I'm looking at the bottom Picture Perfect all right anyone else knowing um the upper picture I see that there's a uh a clutter in one of the closets uh that's a potential fire hazard if they can't get to a service panel or electrical panel that could be a big problem there perfect again Mr Trussell I saw your hand oh you're on mute get the mute so we can hear you as a science teacher uh that bottom picture there you know you have a bunch of chemicals on that bombshell that may not that cannot be there with other chemicals because if they spill and they mix they can be flammable there we go and so just like that how we're able to look at that picture that's what we're looking at as a committee so not that we want to get this painted not that we want new shelving not be because I think we should have a door we saw a safety need and that's what we want to bring to our committee so you guys pass it that's why you were selected you got it you're rock stars so what are some of the oh I'm sorry what are some of the committee topics again this is not going to be district office driven you guys are going to help us determine that so now that you're out on your campus things that you have seen it could be things that when you're driving by you notice that one of our campuses the gates are constantly open or one of our campuses the gate isn't high enough or it doesn't appear that it's locked up at night those are things we want you guys to bring to our attention if you go to a back to school night or you went to event and you saw something that you felt was a safety hazard those are the type of things that we want you guys to bring to our committee all right here these are some of the pitfalls that we want to avoid we don't want to turn into the police we don't want to become the maintenance and operations punchless we don't want to forget to follow up on our promises that we set as a committee we don't want to forget to ask why these things are here we do not want to forget to recognize who we are our staff and who's responsible for meaning we don't want to get to the point that we have certain trades or divisions that don't like our committee because they feel like that's all we're doing is picking on them okay and we want to make sure that we keep everyone trained and informed which is the ultimate goal so again we shouldn't have a committee together if we can't even do a disaster drill one of the things that we should want is yes ma'am may I gotta be right with you one thing you should want no problem we want to make sure like are we prepared for disaster so one thing could be when we're in our classrooms our safety bins ready our safety Buck is ready have we taken the inventory these are type of things that we want to focus on as a committee yes Miss Mack I'm sorry I wanted to know this specifically talks about maintenance punch list but I know some of the safety issues that get reported to us are related to technology and Mis so are are we including that in this process too of safety is it all things safety or is it just I don't say your department safety but like MRT related safety is all things safety but under the lens of safety for all um so not safety of oh well one side has a Chromebook this site doesn't but safety has um this site phone is having phone communication issues or the intercom is not working things of that nature things that will impede us in a in the sense of someone could get hurt or we're not prepared at a time of emergency I understand I was thinking more in terms and this is just generic example um chords that are on the floor and so do we need to buy those kind of covers for cords so kids don't trip that's a great one that's a trip Hazard that is a perfect example but it's specific to Mis versus say mot right so that's I want to make sure okay thank you yep so if you go into a campus and you constantly see wires hanging let's take a picture of it and we're going to bring it to the committee so we can get those items addressed so before we go on to the agenda of showing you guys how to submit questions any questions that you guys have on on right now our purpose Your Role are you like girl I can't commit to this are you like girl this is not what I thought let me get off the boat now but anything that you're thinking of we're good oh awesome okay I'm gonna stop sharing oh Gabriel I'm sorry yeah just the question you're kind of saying um how like we should be listening to our site and and kind of taking their feedback is it um the expectation of the committee like for instance like Patricia's a student at Azusa High School like she'd want to like survey the student body to find out their input or nah just let her listen organically let her listen organically we don't want to put tasks on anyone um but if Miss Patricia is with her her classmates and they're saying you know what every time we go out to pee we trip over this log or I guess it's not a log a tree branch then I'll be up to miss Patricia to bring that up from the student perspective got it thank you okay got it any other questions okay I'm gonna give Mr Noe opportunity to introduce himself good afternoon campus security Azusa High um yeah having the log on this because I was on the other that's all me sir but uh I'll be here on time next time okay we appreciate it okay so I'm going to show you guys how you're going to submit your questions [Music] and I'm going to share so our next meeting is in October so let me share the screen and I'm going to go back so you guys can see everything so after tonight I'm going to share this folder here I'm sorry my computer is going very slow oh no it's Black come on Latasha it's black for me is it black for you guys okay so there's a folder it's going to be called Safety Committee I'm going to share that with you all tonight okay then these are the five uh uh the four remaining meetings and each one you will have the ability to click on so slow and this is where you'll put your questions and comments so for our November 8th meeting your questions would have to be done by October 20th and I see miss Patricia Sanchez already has one and so you must put your name down and it says her example was what is the district's office procedure when School site goes on lockdown that is a perfect way great question and then in my example is how many safety drills does a School site have to have and when so this is where you would go as a Committee Member you would go after the last person so if I was here I could just hit return it's gonna go slow then number two I will put my name down and the question I may have and based on your questions that's how we're going to build the agenda for the next meeting again I leave this open so you can start as soon as you like I leave it open for you guys until October 20th then I close it and the reason why we close it is because then we're going to be looking at all the questions it'll always still be when I say close to me and I take away the editing rights but you'll always be able to see it so then you can have an idea of what the agenda will be yes ma'am is Meg you know it's always going to be me when it's technology right so are you sending us a link that has access to this so that we can click into it I'm sorry I know you said it's a Google doc and I'm giving you access but yeah that is a great question so I'm first going to share the folder with you and then in this folder you'll have access to all of the files that's on there and then each one reactors to the folder in an email yes ma'am yes ma'am okay okay I will send you I will send it in the same group email and I have a link you can click on it and then you'll have editing rights and then I will only remove edit new rights and switch you to viewer rights once the deadline on that document changes and then once we will take all that we will formulate the agenda and then I will publish the agenda so we're all ready for the next meeting okay all right thank you any questions for me no no no all right good people so what we have here our next meeting is November 8th on this agenda it tells you that the questions are due by October 20th and please also note that we are going to take all questions and we're going to formulate an agenda but if one agenda is getting too long or one topic is completely off the rail of another we may not put it on that meeting but the goal is that all the questions will be addressed at a meeting okay um then we have December 22nd is the last day for the January 10th meeting um February 23rd is the last day for the March 13th meeting and April 19th is the last day for May 8th question if anyone says hey I have a question I see you on this committee you as a committee person would choose to submit that question for the person but it will still be under your name okay so then if you're the representation of your population which is why you're selected so you can put the question down but it needs to be under your name even if someone else is giving you that question okay any questions for me guys comments did I go too fast do I need to re-elaborate on anything all right I'm getting thumbs up all right we're not gonna keep the party going for no reason so we are done for 30 and 30 minutes today we started late um but again once we have more topics that will not be the norm um expression I'm also going to be very very diligent to make sure those that if we do have to bring an outside person they're aware um and I'm gonna do my part to ensure that we're allocating enough time for topics and for discussion during our meeting so that way we don't have a jam packed agenda and it's just like all we hear were people talking at us and we didn't really get to engage in discussion um if there's ever a time that we feel that we need to add um a topic that we're on to the next meeting we will do that but it has to be a consensus from the committee otherwise we know our questions that we submit will drive the next agenda yes miss Patricia s uh yes just you may have already said it um and I missed it do you have an estimated time of how long you would like the meetings to last that we can say they're only an hour okay we're only here an hour okay five to six in and out all right anything else all right guys I appreciate you guys again um this is our first time um at least for me the first time that we have a committee here so I truly appreciate you guys going on this journey with us I'm confident that this is going to continue or our efforts to improve our district and that includes our facilities that includes our operations that includes our our programs that we're doing so thank you so much truly appreciate you guys and please post your questions I'm going to work right now to add you guys all to the folder I'll be sending out a link and then you guys get to ready to submit your questions bye guys thank you bye

the other school picked the wrong map so they're going to reset all righty also explain why they're jumping off the side I just did he just did if you ever notice in the top middle of the camera you can always see the varsity and the captain for the junior varsity team we actually spoke with the junior varsity Captain later on this week exactly Monday he's very enthusiastic which is very great for us yeah it's always great to have an enthusiastic Captain oh yeah if you look ain't much about Pokemon steam too though yeah we'll talk about very simple map two platforms no middle platform big small stage just doesn't have the changes in two uh none really because stage has turned off so it doesn't really change I mean if stage we're talking about how many would it have uh I believe six or all six uh Pokemon types yeah so the steel this fire that's flying there's Ferry there's dragon ground grass and Bug yep I'm pretty sure there's more than sixes in there I believe there's just six in the current version to Pokemon games I could be wrong Idol Chit Chat is my favorite now just wait before they get back in the game hope they don't pick the wrong Arena this time again no it's very common mistake yeah once you do it once you won't do it again I already looks at the starts Matt it looks like the match is starting let's go over to that looks like in the bottom left you can see the players there is Noah and then Jaden the team captain of the varsity and it looks like they got Jordan in the back which is the junior varsity Captain and the top right of the camera is Brooks howdy are they taunted it looks like they're ready Noah instantly goes down for the C4 play does not hit it he just wants his distance from this jiggly dupuff I wouldn't be here put you to sleep then you won't be able to do anything but sleep has a lot of M lag so basically punish it very easily yeah especially with the range character like Noah yeah that he gonna assume that was a Miss input forward smash traps a grenade down data does not connect goes for a side me could he hit it though he does that's barely we can't take one more stock that's the question yeah to even it out can you get the rest off he gets the rest off he's gonna go for it before it's matched that's Sally gonna out eliminate Noah good play though absolutely absolutely good to play I'm just wondering who is going to go next is he going to be Jaden Travis Lucas who knows I personally think Jaden should go for a second because Jaden plays a lightweight character I'll call it Isabella Isabella has a great great camping set so she can stay around with Jigglypuff but she can also stay away from Jigglypuff yeah a lot too they do go to Jaden does play Isabel now his current strategy Isabelle is Place rockets and stay back a little bit but if you do approach him he's going to punish him it's a game is going on Jake Buffy's gonna SD real quick and how many likes did they lose again uh they just lost one life so they're just gonna wait for Tom there it is and the match is going to begin there's that rocket on the ground I was talking to you about so he doesn't have to approach you too much up here it's a rocket so Jigglypuff explodes a lot of bomb characters sometimes pattern here yeah I guess for the fishing hook does not connect though that's for the Forward Air it does another fishing hook yep kind of weird because that fishing hook can grab onto the stage yeah it's offstage but the Jigglypuff gets the rest oh but Jaden sadly missed the F smash to punish you can hit this F smash he cannot but he does get the Forward Air does get the downturn up and the up turn up great great small little combo for Isabel unbox the fishing hook but sadly Jigglypuff rolls into the rocket loses the second stop all right it looks like Jigglypuff is currently jiggling Isabel can she recover she does but his Jigglypuff gotta no she does not punish it fishing hook does not connect Jaden kept trying to go for a spike but does Miss spikes are also kind of ineffective one more life he does lose another stock well it's one to one who will win this time do you feel confident in Jaden he does have 56 yeah on Jigglypuff right now so it has to do his ledge trap and hit him forward smash then again Jigglypuff could turn it around you never know Duluth could do that yeah great super armor the side B but does have a lot of frame lag does miss the forward smash but does get the Nair and gets the fishing hook yep he just has to keep him off stage or hit him off stage even further this time either way he has to keep him off the stage Yep this you could just forward smash or down Smash and it could be game does look like the Ford air does connect Jigglypuff is just jiggling people today he gets the forward smash that is game alrighty who are they gonna counter pick like I was saying Isabelle is a great great you know how to pronounce the word sorry a great use of projectiles just the fishing hook could act to Stage so if he's fairly far out we can just grapple the stage real quick and come back and she also has the landmine which they roll on stage is great punish for rolling on stage also really great camping strategy I wonder what character they're going to counter pick a great counter pick for Isabella is probably a sword fighter a Dugo sorrow already it looks like Jaden has to throw himself off the ledge two times before they start the match fun little fact about Soro he is the last DLC character for this game seriously yeah he is the last DLC character for this game and I believe uh Nintendo did pay really big bucks get him in this game hmm I can't remember the exact price looks like he just does miss the upbeat but does hit the side B you want to kind of keep your distance not too far away from him because he could just side me to you yeah back like that he tries to read him and goes for a counter misses oh he tries to punish his side B it goes for Thunder but misses grabs back throws he looks like he pocketed his fire I'll try to throw it back at him it does not work yup B Mrs and the down smash connects the forward smash connect and that is his first stock lost looks like he missed the grab sadly crab yep oh he's got the second one yep it does look like thesaurus down air connects and he might be in trouble no well Isabella and Villager has the same upbeat very great upbeats can cover nearly all the way down to the Blast Zone down smash connects looks like he busts through his land mine we got back F smash does not connect his landmine does though startup does too oh but sadly the down air connects alrighty now I'm curious if Travis is going to counter pick or if Lucas is going to counter pick Ed ready here is the guest speaker Lucas your buddy nice one you get the chair it's good I need some help I'm good and yes all right so getting into this we can see that Travis is about to take on the Sora that has knocked out Jaden now I'm thinking this will be a quick and easy game on Travis's side of course because he has very obvious knowledge on the ins and outs of his character alongside many of his uses in particular advantages and how many lives does he have to lose uh he has to lose three lives Sora has two left uh making him put at a disadvantage okay so pretty much he has the advantage so so far right now yes yeah uh it seems from Travis that he's playing more of a usually protective style where he loves grabs and side beef he loves neutral B all of his projectiles looks like that Sora fires spam pretty deadly it's pretty dangerous you gotta find a way around that yeah and there goes lightning oh oh but he makes it he does make it back to Stage recover uh it looks like we as you can see very here nearly here uh Sora seems to be firing fire in the wrong direction oh but the upbeat does hit Travis again and he snacks all right Travis up down B's again drop some bombs on the stage outwitting Zara trying his hardest to get in both of them are as it can be seen clearly oh he Shields it this time oh and Sora used it off stage leading to his death that's oh that's a misplay another upbeat from inside B whatever from Sora it's punished again again always gotta punish them foreign yep fire is coming out yet again for the fire space oh oh he hits a fully charged side B doing 30 or so up another side B from Sora to get shielded yet again oh yep tried to do Thunder but got canceled out by yet another charge ooh that's a stock from Travis though uh that's gonna even it out actually it isn't I I lied it's not even I lied they're one up there oh nice charge shot and a Dash attack ooh Thunder from Sora doesn't hit anything I'm doing really good oh again missed attacks not seeming to hit much ooh but a side beef it does connect this time falling neutral air up B enny a move is being thrown out by the Sora and yet not a lot of them are doing damage yeah oh only a little bit of fire this time Thunder doesn't connect fastball neutral layers yet again oh Perry oh we can see he's retreated to the right side of the stage and trying to get his opponent out asara countering absolutely nothing at all uh side B yet again in the wrong direction Travis punishing it with a down Smash down tilt the fire move and looks like Sora oh he's gonna go for an upbeat but it doesn't connect sorry at 139 how much longer does he have left before he is knocked out of this tournament down smash doesn't connect oh neutral being to grab that up throw that kills and that's game that's game Travis is up two stocks and then last person on their team is about to go in now that was a pretty good showing from Travis I might say one of his better I'd even presume uh as one of his better performances now I'd say it's a mystery on who the last one is of any sort why are you back here uh anywho sorry about that uh mouse came into the room a really big one really big one anywho back to the game in hand as we can very clearly see we have ooh it's a nest and it is a nest you don't see many nesses nowadays yeah you really don't I mean we have one of our own on our very handy JV team courtesy of Jordan Troyer of course uh but you don't really see these guys that often anymore they're like moths then he has what one life yeah two uh Travis has two lives compared to the last person's three meaning we are up by a idiom of two stocks now if we could okay and as we can very clearly see the nest has the same game plan as of all of them and that side B Forward Air uh we can very clearly see that that's the ground that's gonna just be it for the rest of the game I'm hoping Travis can pull off a miracle here maybe he can take off the entire thing because what we have with one person left don't we with the current skill on display it's pretty obvious that Travis is clearly better than the Ness here yeah it isn't close ooh hits him with the side B charging up another side B ooh looks like the nest might try oh it isn't gonna kill though ah it's very close though really close super close oh he does have another one in the reserve but he only hits the shield now he has very low Shield here doesn't punish the up B here but it seems to be that both of them are in an even footing now regaining their control back to neutral ooh side b gets hit nothing converts but still nice damage coming out of it okay continued side B's from the nests again another side B getting a lot of stuff here we're getting really close a lot of rolls roll got a lot of rolls here ooh the upbeat he he messes hitting up B doesn't connect the second time but oh we're getting really close to the legend oh that's a grab oh it's gonna kill and that's that's stock too we are an entire person up folks that's right we are an entire person up uh we will return back to what we were originally ooh fully charged side b nordral b uh side B hits another neutral B ooh and a grab into leading into 81 damn oh and that's enough that's a stop wow I should probably not be on but hey apologies to those at home uh but as we can very clearly see the main focus is the incredible gameplay on display by traffic oh and the next goes the wrong direction and that's the game wow that was really incredible yeah amazing plays from both players here but we were just clearly better I I don't know what to say you know like it was an incredible feat and show by both now it's up to interpretation what they will counter pick to but it is still very pivotal that they in fact choose these things now I might be swapping out soon for my replacement commentator uh Travis cutshaw of course now when this occurs that will be a very I will warn you guys beforehand because that'll be very scary now as many of you have recognized in this gameplay we see a lot of uh trials and tribulations being placed by these players uh as they weave their way through the enemy opponents and their meticulous and cumbersome use of projectiles characters and really everything in the books that they have but yet we've still managed to come on top pulling through and pushing through everything we can up and looks like we're oh what do we what's going on here are we doing hmm are we doing uh are we continuing Pokemon Stadium too perhaps we should still be continuing it maybe unless they're changing it maybe they're changing it who knows yep who knows looks like we've got a little bit of a kerfuffle going on currently in the uh wait never mind maybe we are playing Pokemon Stadium too hold on folks we are starting the first game of the second set and if I do believe it should be it should still be Pokemon we'll find out yep it is Toby Pokemon looks like they have in fact just counter picked to the same stage again and it looks like we are starting out again with another Travis versus Ness moment as we can ooh now ooh the nest's going for a pretty good Forward Air string but as we can very clearly see here nests facing the same tribulations he was last time of not being able to really punish the Samus but oh looks like Vanessa was really doing better than it did last time yeah it's very apparent ooh but Travis has got him in his mitts so now we'll see what really occurs yep it's always scary to see that ooh you got a lot of got a lot of pressure going on at the corner here yeah not much really taking place in the main center of the stage which would be kind of weird uh but at the same time looks like the nests and the Samus have resorted to their old ways of projectiles and uh forward airs yep Samus at a really high 144.

participate in Christian school spirit um and just overall really try to use General participation in DHS in the student life other than that a bunch of other great specific stuff that's been happening the junior class they just wants to be very successful Spanish Heritage celebration dance um I think I had around 100 members or so 100 participants who all paid to attend and the money on suicide fundraiser as for the senior class we've had a handful of senior class activities such as two weeks ago we had senior Sunset before school started that's from six to seven and then this Friday actually we're having a um senior Fest so it'll be just a little celebration for the seniors until five after school until five o'clock a little celebration of seniors they're all beautiful food like Bull and just like faster house uh pot events one of the students to just sort of enjoy their senior year other than that as we are getting started with the school year there are a couple policies that have been implemented such as such as the discount policy um his job policy is essentially a new new this year is a policy where students that are in their late sixth class they have to go down to the office and get a Missed Out Pass um and it goes under record but it goes on the back on some record that they've missed out um so this is to try and keep students much more accountable for being late because DHS previously does have a very high um like tardy or Thanksgiving class so hopefully this will sort of like you call that down and improve attendance service in general um other than that we have like three week impact value going on okay so we have officially scheduled the week first year week is going to be October 10th to October 13th which is four days and um just to go over the themes because you know it's not everyone wants to know the our first day is going to be bargain hierarchy which some of you know some of you may know the movie's Barbie and Oppenheimer came out on the same day and it was kind of like a cultural movement for us kids so we wanted to do a day based off that after that we have Jersey versus Jersey Shore which should be fun because if you know the if you know the show it's there it's very chaotic um then we have you know the classics we have color days where freshmen are pink sophomores are so that's going to be Thursday and then on Friday we're going to have good old orange and blue day and dance with homecoming but one thing that we did last year for the first time in over like decades um that we are going to continue on this year is we're going to do a pep rally before coming before the homecoming game and you know dance which is important to be on October 14th this year um that pep rally is going to be on Thursday so the day before the homecoming game and um to organize for that we've created a dog Community which will which we separated into three parts and two of those parts are dedicated solely for getting ready for the pep rally they've come up with a lot of ideas for games to do during the pep rally you know like tug of war like stuff involved with like you know balloons or water balloons specifically and other fun activities like that we'll be hearing more um I'll update you on those next time because nothing's set in stone yet but we are making remarkable progress we have two Bob committees meeting tomorrow to get from the brainstorming and work done so our plans with the pep rally are going well and for spirit week we're collaborating with peer leadership which is a group in Denver high school that kind of like Fosters school spirit like interacts with the community they're helping us out with posters banners wall decorations window decorations so sorry um and lastly for the pep rally we are going to one of the actual value besides the games we're going to have like a lot of fall Sports come out cheerleaders um band and they're going to be performing routines of their own and we hope that it will just be a really fun interactive way for teachers to Foster some school spirit and I think that's all we have and Josh is going to talk a bit about home um so I'm just going to give a brief just you are homecoming we're going to start planning before homecoming tomorrow with our first class we will start planning for homecoming decorations and homecoming will be on Saturday October 14th after a lot of deliberation we came to the Tangled movie team um we will run tickets through on tickets Wicked she was kind of a kind of a fiasco selling tickets so basically we want to kind of get a more streamlined and online is probably the best way to do it and to beat those uh online tickets we're going to have Refreshments to me came out of tickets that was selling it should be around 1100 at the maximum for homecoming Court we have a few applications and the nominations are starting to come through pretty quick uh the application will be announced at the pep rally and for finally professional elections we have four candidates because you know the freshmen they don't really want to apply for a school office but we're getting some candidates going and the numbers are starting to grow but you started off at four and it shouldn't be going up Court uh Yankee we're excited to start the Year and thank you for having us does anybody have any questions so Pearl Serena Josh welcome we are happy to have all of you here at the board meeting and representing Danbury High School in our school district I so you should know the board and I we had a meeting earlier and we were talking about this missed out initiative at the high school and so can you just tell us a little bit more on exactly what folks were missing out on and what the initiative was about and how the initiative was going because I did speak to principal Donovan a couple weeks ago about this right so Mr the missed out policy is developings at 7 20 every morning um and the mental policy is essentially that once the veil brings the student cannot get into the room the teachers have to shut the door and lock the door and any students that show up late they're sent directly to the global office for a missile pass and what are we missing out on [Music] like missing like being tardy missed out um [Music] um I'm not sure it um I'm pretty sure after a certain amount of missed out to like you know it's parties um you can get detention and then at one point you get an in-school suspension and then after that you have a parent intervention so it can add up pretty easily those are the it goes on you know right so while uh Pearl is grabbing the microphone back I I love this idea about missing out and placing importance on learning time and so I'm curious how behaviors have changed if at all from you guys perspective at the high school since this initiative has been implemented honestly I think for this job possible maybe you're not in the hallway so you don't know I think the national policy is more to the benefit of teachers just so it believes that pressure on the teachers themselves to assign those detentions and sign those tardies um is it much more like is a higher I guess a supervisor way of assigned attention to tardies without putting all that Pastor all the teachers to actually do it so as for like the student point of view I'm not sure how much it's actually [Music] um well I can speak to that a little bit because I had a couple of visits to my level up this recently and um and in the process I met a lot of kids who missed out and from the way that they were speaking I don't believe that you know they're truly got the concept yet I feel like um it hasn't really because um the kids that I didn't talk to they were like this isn't gonna stop anyone it's not gonna stop me I can take my sister two or three so that's the perspective that I got from the kids that were in the office I'm not so sure about I mean I do know kids that emotionally good kids but got a little late and got missed out past and now they're like you know super Capital super careful to make sure that they're at school in class on time but for the kids that like you know it's in the office and they're like I can save my ancestor too it hasn't really like you know registered yet but perhaps it will eventually I'll keep you updated thank you the sophomore classes up they're kind of used to the you know like I missed class or whatever but the Freshman Class they're kind of scared straight with the with the missing out policy so I mean I know my whatever it is at least and um I mean he hasn't struggled with the class like he got like the school layout pretty quick because of the missing out policy so um at the beginning of the school year the freshman year same same people three of you thank you thank you so much for being update we really appreciate you it's a pleasure meeting you all thank you thank you you're welcome thank you for having you thank you thank you when you comment I just want to comment a little bit on the missed out so I was up at Denver high school for instruction around this past week last week and the uh you know prior to the implementation you know one of the things that we'd often see in the beginning of our class is kind of the trickling in the students and the teachers kind of waiting to start the lesson and so over time that kind of erodes some of the instructional time but this last round of construction rounds where we were up there the kids were in the classroom the instructions started right off time and that's one of the great benefits and always were clear so the the policy is working the other reason that Mr Donovan implemented it is because it has to do with the academies and I think he explained this and he may even recognize some of what I'm saying here but to to be an employable adults who have to be on time to work and as part of the academy and building those soft skills and students we're trying to instill things the idea that being on time is important otherwise you do miss out on them not just in class but potentially on jobs so thank you very much for talking tonight yeah thank you guys okay parties representative I trust me tonight [Music] um and community members thank you for allowing me to represent and speak on behalf of the Alternative Center for excellence isn't happy to welcome 30 new so on my own in my own defense just a little bit I want to highlight there really was no cell phones and no Google back in that time and as an adult I ended up being able to cut firewood with my former Junior High Principal a fellow named dick Reveille first time I ever met dick Reveille I was in the eighth grade and it was the day after a basketball game in a crowded school hallway and the first thing he said to me was sailor how many bunnies did you blow last night I was puzzled by the question I had never heard that term before you'll have to Google what a basketball bunny is is basically an uncontested layup but anyway even though I didn't understand the term of what he had asked me I kind of faked it in the conversation trying not to look out of touch and after many years had gone by and he and I were out cutting firewood together he and I had a good laugh about my unfamiliarity with the term I would never have imagined that I would end up doing tax return work for former teachers and coaches I would never have imagined that I would go to Reds games or Pacer games with former teachers or parents of my friends I'm very thankful for several Life Life Lessons Learned From Sports one last little story the first day on the job at First Federal I was spending some time with my predecessor and early on he challenged me to see if I could sign my three capital letter initials in cursive without lifting the pen off the page I took his Challenge and was surprised that I could do that now many years later several times a day when I have to initial something I initial it that same way and I think of Bob each time I do that my cursive initials pretty much looked the same every time I initial something another one of the teachers that I gave tennis lessons to was the daughter of another one of my predecessors at First Federal in fact Eddie had worked at First Federal for 50 years he was working at First Federal the year I was born and I got to spend a good bit of time with Eddie after having given his school teacher daughter tennis lessons as a college student and Eddie's last day on the job and the the last piece of advice that Eddie gave to me from one generation to the other Eddie said Jim my advice is enjoy the good times final concluding thought from a graduate of the year of 1976.

oh hits the misses the neutral Bay uh hits there what will happen next who knows uh but I believe ooh The Nest is getting pretty high though one good string and it'll that'll be the end of him oh that's a nice bait from the rolls there trying to bait his grab uh intentional or otherwise it was a good play yep ooh neutrophy gonna hit the shield but he follows it up with a forward smash knocking him off stage now he has another one fully loaded in the tank oh but that misses too but still puts enough pressure on oh oh uh up there his up throw is not gonna kill but almost almost a couple more percent there and that would have done it but ooh another fully charged oh the nest barely gets out of the way and we oh another one grab that's up throw that's killed and that's that's death it's knockout that's a knockout death I'm not sure go find out whatever do you get told later yeah uh anywho back to the game at hand we have returned to Center Stage Ness seems to be running away to try inside B but it doesn't seem to be working effectively so Travis will continue his game plan of side B neutral being to grab as seems to be connecting oh gets knocked off stage at a whopping 151 but manages to return oh wait oh the side beat hitting him but not much of a punish going on here oh but Travis side smashes and puts him off stage but now he's the one off stage but now he's the one back on stage but now he's the one off stage ooh we're gonna side be charged up oh just taking turns on foreign yeah anyway back to the game uh ooh another fully charged neutral B to do 30 hidden with the Zaire a side beat and more just keeps putting on this pressure that just the opponents can't deal with Travis has a lot of pressure on himself he's at 200 one good hit is a game for him yep but he's doing too much you can't get in yeah it's just a white 87 on the nest one good hit kills oh he reflects the neutral be but nothing much oh a side B to take him off the counter but he caught off on one of the sides that's game not much yeah 97 for next oh that 203 the next round putting us an entire player up that's that's a perfect game too yeah that's incredible it's the perfect game stock to my knowledge and my co-commendators knowledge this is one of the if not the first three stock we've had in history it's the first perfect three stock at least for this season yeah for this season at least yeah I'm not now that I think is celebratory worthy yeah uh hit the air horns most definitely air horn yeah yeah that one uh anywho looks like we are seeing who do you think is going to come up next the Sora uh the the Kirby something new I just say oh the link the link oh that's a decent choice I'd say considering his uh affection with the uh previous projectile character uh Noah and we are heading in straight to this game here with uh both of these players taking their equal footing no jumping off required let's see if he can pull it off again yeah he probably will I think he can I mean both I mean that link player seems really good but oh Travis just seems dominant here man he just seems he just seems like something you can't break yeah you just can't take him out you know he's just a Zone bomb he's just this immovable force that you just can't take out and they just don't know how to move it oh but wait it seems that the link is seeming to take up a projectile strategy of his own like a fly hit him and they always come back okay so now Travis is just standing in the corner charging charge shot and firing it oh but he buries it but he parries it we're hitting seeing two rules from Travis uh the link said 72 percent a couple more Good Hits and that'll be it uh but for right now it seems that these players are decently playing in standings uh ooh side Smash in the wrong direction gonna punish absolutely nothing of value here uh we're not seeing much uh it seems to just be oh wait oh down there down throw but nothing really coming out of it oh another side Smash in the wrong direction uh bombs coming out doesn't do anything ooh Boomerang UP UP doesn't hit him on the way back either he shields smartly uh down air again from the link he seems to be going for a lot he's doing really good yeah I'd say so I'd say that uh Samus and Link are uh one of some of the most projectile based characters in the game yeah of course ooh up air not gonna hit anything ooh but a Forward Air calls out the jump uh 119 on link uh one more good string here and he oh Dash attack putting him to 131 a really high percentage that's probably deadly for anyone here looks like link hits a bomb detonation here but Travis oh yeah as that was elaborating he had a fully charged charred shot in his back pocket and he just pulls it out ready to use it ah another one hitting 30 percent it's a little stale now but it still does its jobs it still does his job putting on it's putting on pressure here doing a lot here Travis is so far token four stocks without even losing one of his that's incredible that's unseen oh but he does get hit with a down air but that's not going to lead into anything but he hits it the down B he hits a bomb uh Samus bomb got the link bomb that one's blue he doesn't scoot up he's gonna yep there it is about to say he looks like link keeps pelting Travis with arrows uh I think it might be smart for him to go to the second platform there for a little bit oh oh oh he also doesn't get close too it's an up smash but it doesn't go through but not of his own and that's another knockout five stocks in a row five stocks without even losing one another fully charged charged shot for 32 percent starting off the game really strong Travis had a really high 150.

Ashland looking for a response okay that's Silva make that Carvalho Bailey falling with a nice pass Tyler Robinson tries to keep it in bounds tries to gather and keep it in but to no avail turn over here bellingham's a quick throw in I think that hit both hands for Jamie Draper but nothing called as this one gets booted well out of bounds another throw in opportunity here for the Blackhawks Johnny taking the throne oh good pressure there from Keegan Kelly with the other co-captain for the clockers he is flying around just chasing the ball and forcing some quick passes here by Bellingham Bellingham with an opportunity here great through Ball but unable to capitalize great save by Ash and goalkeeper um read that one very well came about aggressively stop that play so the clocker's on the attack now as Keegan Kelly working it down the sideline but uh misfires can't quite find uh Graham there on the far sideline so another throw in here for the Blackhawks Espino pushes it ahead but they're intercepted by the Blackhawks a breakup attempt by Graham and Graham's just been flying around this first few minutes of the game it looks like they got Arthur Souza just for a moment there can't quite Corral that one as it went out of bounds another throw in for the Blackhawks intercepted by Tyler Robinson it's going to be Ashland ball it went off of Blackhawk so Robinson will throw in looking for an open man tosses it to Silva nice little touch pass to Carvalho dribbling now looking looking past the side but can't connect and Bellingham comes away with it turned right back over to the clockers and now they're going to work it Down The Far Side to uh Graham again great defense by Ashland right there Graham back passenger back to the middle spino over to Draper where to switch field there the red idea there with a nice touch pass clockers move the ball around pretty well so far but nothing to show for it on the scoreboard as we're down to 31 and a half to go here the first half no score if you're just joining us Josh Abrams Logan Abrams with you here Ashland High School on a beautiful Wednesday evening as the Sun starts to set glad to have you with us this one gets knocked out of bounds it's going to be clock or ball Robinson with the throw in passing it over to Bailey Farm you cannot control it too hot to handle another Bellingham throwing just throwing once again by mantangani definitely some tricky names on that Bellingham roster and we did get it just moments before tip-off here tonight so we'll do our best with uh with those pronunciations and uh apologize in advance to any mispronunciations to our Bellingham listener viewers tonight meanwhile back to the action on the field is Robinson with another throw in getting a little misfire there trying to get it to Sousa but it does go out of bounds off off the Blackhawks going over to Arthur Souza Ashland's lead score so far this year special thanks to Ashland head coach Thiago Moda for providing us with a season to date stats uh earlier today Logan will have lead throughout the game on uh on Ashland's leading scorers so far this season the Crossfield pass here to Robinson trying to push it ahead to Sousa keeps it in a little pressure and knocks it even further back now Draper turns it over momentarily but picked up there by fawn Sousa again puts it out on net keeper just eats it up grand old looking for an open Bellingham player okay under 30 minutes to go here in the first half nil nil between your Ashland clockers and the Bellingham Blackhawks Rebellion pushes ahead we got a foot raise Robinson gonna get there just first able to defend the ball nicely get it out of Harm's Way Carvalho for a moment had beaten his man unable to complete it though and again I'm just gonna balls kind of ping-ponging back and forth right now between the two teams Fong with it now pushes it further ahead Down The Far Side quick give and go to put one across the field to susic couldn't bring it down with the foot and out of bounds belly I'm playing a little dangerously here and sure enough turns it over deep in their own end it's gonna be a throw in a good opportunity for the clockers Robinson will take the honors here on the near sideline getting a few Subs here getting some it's like five fresh bodies coming in right now it's a lot of subbing early and often Robinson with a throw in finds a national player back to Robinson centering past the word of the Cyber right onto the foot of Carvalho gets it to the center Fung with a nice dribble shot blocked aside by Bellingham and recovered no Ramsay trying to get the ball there another opportunity here in the middle trying to get some open space can't quite do it Bellingham forces the turnover brings it out to Midfield oh there's a collision see which way this one's gonna go and it will be against the clockers didn't give him space Defender didn't give the offensive player space there to make a make a move so uh free kick here for the Blackhawks is gonna be looking [Music] finds one of his Defenders Defender mantos Bellingham with an attack on on your near side some great footwork from Faraz and this one breaks through the final line of defense for the clockers all the way down to kulaga uncontested throw pass to uh to a teammate on the far side here's Fong again to Carvalho now Espino going to Noah Ramsay had him open for a moment there on the far side but that that was just too long a pass to attempt that kind of traffic foreign to throw in we get a whistle here gonna move him back to the 50.
