he's gonna run to that East altonwood River sideline maybe gets two to 27. black should be running and it's not now they got it going again some unofficial stats in the first half for the Eagles running game Logan Hicks leading rusher at five attempts for 89 yards to Chase Chase Nelson with three rushes for nine Cameron Yannick four rushes for 31 and vaguely has four rushes for 96 has touchdown runs of 23.50 in one so thank you to Sharky and Howie to get in those stats up here to us verdictlock gonna be a quick first in the second half hopefully we're stiff quick run there and quick first down for the Oilers great run this league didn't stop didn't stop running that whole time ball place at the 44-yard line first Centennial bigley was three of six for 26 yards including a 25-yard touchdown pass in the first half as well [Applause] Rebecca's gonna get the snap fake the handoff he's gonna keep it to that left side and he's got some room over there just gonna run out of bounds after picking up another first down holding penalty is going to be called on East Dalton so what would have been a first down is going to be a loss on the play now it is a holding off their steps now stands kind of kind of getting a little slam blue crew cut in half only half the fan section over here to our left good night for Columbia Eagle football it was hot in pregame kind of cool off a little bit fall is in the air not yet it's coming though first down and 20.

2023-10-02 Sedgwick County, KS YouTube / USD264 YouTube transcript source: youtube Clearwater Clarity: Volume 3, October 2023 · passage 1
welcome USD 264 parents patrons community members stakeholders and then people watching on YouTube Welcome to Clearwater Clarity volume 3 for October 2023. as we're moving through some of our videos here we're really focusing in on some of the pieces of the Strategic plan and making sure we understand how we are utilizing the Strategic plan at USD 264 and when we're utilizing the Strategic plan where we're focused on either increasing student achievement implementing whole child student-centered programming developing those deep relationships and providing consistent relevant communication we have three steps in getting that information to you first is we need to make sure that we're understanding the why why are we doing this so why do we have a strategic plan and why are we making sure that we're focusing in on these the second step is we're going to really focus on what what are we going to actually do underneath these goals in the areas that we're going to focus on and then finally how are we actually going to achieve this so today in this month we're going to really focus on the what portion of providing consistent real communication as it relates to our crisis plan so about a year ago there was a group of stakeholders and people from Orion service center here in town that went together to put this crisis plan together what we were attempting to do is create a one page that teachers would be able to have and all staff currently have this to along with their GO bags in their rooms where it gives them exactly bulleted items of what to do in case of these different types of Crisis that they could go through in any given day unfortunately the world we live in these are becoming more of a reality and so we want to make sure that everyone's prepared for all the eventual activities that may go on as you may or may not be aware officer Jacks of the Clearwater PD and our school SRO also filed for a grant with Sedgwick County resource center and was able to provide tourniquet bags for each one of our building and he's also working on getting a second bag for each building so we'll have those resources available to us as well but today we're going to really focus on the what portion of our crisis plan because within uh strategic plan goal number four where we want consistent relevant communication we're really focusing in on these top three areas some of the other activities within the crisis plan are activities that were a little bit more used to and we've dealt with in a more consistent manner but unfortunately the active assailant Holden educating holds secure are things that you're going to see or hear on social media as a parent or Community member and we want you to be able to understand what those pieces mean and what is the actual activity that potentially is going on at the school during that time so the first one we're really going to look at is Holden educate so hold and educate is when there's a low level emergency happening within a building and it's just an opportunity where we need to keep the hallways clear this could be due to a medical emergency a adult emergency within the building where we just want to keep students in the classrooms at this point in time education will go on normally and there is just no threat to the students at that time it's just a way to help protect people or if we have a medical emergency and the ambulance or someone like that is needing to get into the building we want to make sure that the hallways are clear so that we don't interfere with providing that support as fast as possible another one that we just added in for this year due to a unique situation is called an external hold and educate so if we see that within our social media posting that is when there's an emergency near the building that is not actually threatening any of our students so earlier this year we had a gas leak where there was Crews working on a different part of town and they actually busted a gas line and at that point in time in consult a consultation with Clearwater PD we went into a hold and educate but it wasn't to keep kids out of the hallways it was just to keep kids in the building and so in doing that we've termed a new area called external hold and educate where we will keep all students in the building to just protect them from a potential outside emergency that is happening within the city limits but is not threatening to the building so again hold and educate education goes on normally there's a low level emergency within the building that we're just wanting to keep hallways clear our second level is Holden secure so this is when there is a threat immediately to the building that threat has yet to be determined of what the next step will actually be but we've determined there is a threat so we'll go into holding secure difference between hold and educate and hold and secure is that students will immediately go to the nearest classroom and will lock doors hold educate we're not locking doors we're just keeping everyone in the classroom hold and secure we're moving to the next level and so all students will be able to get into the nearest classroom teachers will lock the doors and then they'll wait for the next piece of information they'll come be it either an email or radio and a lot of times it's going to say hold and secure here there is a blank happening somewhere within the building and so that will give the information for the staff and the students to be able to understand what should they do in the next step based on the training so if an intruder is in the building there will be a notification of where that Intruder is and that'll help activate that next step so again Hogan educate everything goes on normally we're just keeping the hallways clear hold and secure there is a threat to the building and there's a threat of safety to the students and so they've asked them to go into the nearest classroom and lock the doors if there's an intruder we'll notify the building or the staff and the students of where that Intruder is because that allows them to go into the next step again unfortunately we're in a world where this is a practice that we're going to have to continue to work on and hopefully just knock on wood that is not something we ever actually have to deal with but if it does we want to make sure all of our students and staff are prepared so we will notify whether thetruder is it may be staff and students the Intruder is in this hallway and when that activates to that hallway students will use the Run hide fight method for deciding what is the next steps if they are far enough away from the Intruder that they're not in an active threat they will try to run and get away as far from the building and go to the reunification point at that point in time if they are in a situation where they may be close to the Intruder and by going and running they may alert them there to go into hide and that is to be able to find the best hiding spot within that classroom and to also barricade the room as best as they can and then finally if something were to ever happen and the Intruder was to breach a classroom students are going to be taught and shown how to be able to fight and defend themselves as best as possible again all depending on the situation after that is completed all staff and students will then go to the reunification Point again we don't broadcast where the reunification point is just for safety measures but you will be notified through bright Arrow where that is that if an event were to happen at that point in time a command center will be set up for renew reunification of students to parents you will have to provide some sort of identification to be able to take your students from that point in time because we will be having people that may not be connected to your building so there'll be a command center set up where you'll go and you'll give them your name the name of the student you also provide some ID and then from there we'll be able to get your student and get them reunified with you in case of an event get three different levels cold and educate everything goes on normally we're just got an emergency in the hallway hold and secure there is a threat to the building and so we're going to get to the nearest classroom and lock the doors and of course if there's an intruder in the building we're going to utilize a run height fight technique it has been a couple years since we've had a training for our staff on run height fight so I'm proud to say on October 9th we'll have Terry Moses from Wichita Public Schools who is the director of Public Safety for USD 259 he's going to come out and give a refresher course for all staff on run hide fight principles so that we're preparing the event of an emergency finally to kind of wrap that up that is sometimes some intense work but it is to also provide that consistent relevant communication for you as staff members but we want to continue to focus on being the one for someone else this world is already difficult to navigate itself in with social media with sometimes the inconsistent information that is out there and with not necessarily always telling things the way that they are so we want to make sure that kids have a safe space to be able to come to school and that they are able to have an adult that they can rely on so again if your student is struggling with things at school make sure that they understand there should be an adult there for them that they can trust and go to because our vision and mission for this year is to make sure that we're being the one for someone whether it is also a student being there for someone else or whether it is a student being there for a staff member at the same time because you never know what someone's going through until they're going through it and we want to be there to support them so again we thank you for helping that and as our last announcement we're going to start a new process on the first Wednesday of each month where we're going to have coffee with the soup which will be me you'll have an opportunity to just grab some coffee first 25 people that come to the event is going to be given a free coffee and you're going to be able to just sit down we'll have a little q a about the district strategic plan and other needs our first one will be October 4th so it's coming up just in a couple days and we'll be at the jump start location starting at 7 A.M so look forward to anybody coming out and wanted to have an opportunity to visit with us and see how things are going again look forward to seeing everybody again next month in the next version of Clearwater Clarity and have a great day don't forget to be the one for someone else

and to order at this time and this is a legal for formality that we have to accommodate this is the second public hearing we've had on this change to the hours that kids come to school and I'm going to turn time over to miss Courtney for that good evening so yes this is our second public hearing to approve the instructional time model this is something that is required through this through the State of Arizona and what this is just we talked about this at the last meeting but this is just um when a student is remote learning alternative hours this just explains what is our option and when we say we I just want to make sure I clarify again Dr Wright clarified this at the last meeting this is not there is no change coming to our hours of instruction as far as our regular hours of instruction I think people hear when we're talking about instructional time model they panic and think back to covid and what we're not making any changes this is something that is more related to this isn't really to inclement weather we've had a couple of issues with our water lines breaking and we've had to send kids home for that so that's what this is this information is really covering one of the questions that came up at the last meeting was how will students so sixth grade and under we talked about the students in elementary school they'll receive packets on days such as that when we have inclement weather days or a school closure an unexpected School closure they can get packets that they can complete either while they're home or when they come back and that will count towards attendance for students when they're out at the junior high through High School level we'll have assignments posted online that students can access there will be some students who don't have access to online and so it'll be open for them to submit those assignments when they reach turn to school as well and that can count for attendance for those students as well and what that helps us with is to make sure that we don't have that we can still count those days as instructional days instead of having to call them as a snow day and use those against us do you have any questions about the the proposed instructional time model at this time great thank you so much for your time good no I don't I don't have any questions sorry I have a hard time doing two things at the same time how about Chuck Margaret you have any questions in regarding that yes but it counts keeps us from having to uh extend the school year right right so there is we are we are working on a place on our website so there is a we added a school closure assignments link all the teachers we upload all the assignments now anyways for a curriculum this would be an assignment that would be uploaded specifically if we needed it for a school closure and so we'll be adding some assignments to that as we as we get closer to those inclement weather days thank you all right so we have complied legally with the change there's no further questions or anything we'll call this public key hearing over any questions or comments thank you

um we are asking to appropriate our rainy day fund in a million dollars Debt Service of five million 650 332 remind a reminder reminder of in that is our end our new geobond closed on in 2000 2023 and we have to estimate High those payments until we go through the complete Financial process to have our hard payments set as to what we will pay for next year so that brings that appropriation education amount of 13 million 653 and operations seven million one eighty uh Levy to be raised we'll leave for two funds only Debt Service 5 million seven hundred fifty thousand once again that is estimated High very high right now because we have our numbers that come in as to what we will need for next year so it would be the amount of payments that we will be paying in 2024 plus a very small increment of our first half of 2025.

and then you have the consent agenda items just a few clean up uh we have for the appointment of John Tiernan it is not a replacement for Heather still but rather did they fall for seventh grade boys basketball coach Josh Hawley uh we had an incorrect stipend so you can see the correct stipend there and then fifth grade girls basketball coach we had an incorrect last name and wanted to add that it was a replacement for Heather still and then we've removed um the incorrect second grade police basketball coach is there a motion to improve the modifications any discussion uh I have some questions on the ESC okay hold on a second this is just for approving the modifications that we're going to talk about it okay and then we'll get actually okay so let's do a roll call on accepting the modifications to the agenda Carol yes Vicky yeah yes okay so now uh we have a time for recognition of visitors and comments from the audience hello audience anything from the audience tonight nope just just onlooker so okay very good um let's move on another presentation nothing great right and then um under discussion then we have these two items that um I really wanted to add into the list um so we're going to talk about House Bill 1447 and procedures to review material yes thank you so high school 1447 was newly um new legislation that was passed um through the last legislation period And basically it's the law that says by January 1st all schools must have a policy in place for parents or community members to be able to review instructional materials and have a complaint process or ask the school to review it um tonight I wanted to be able to discuss what our current policy says and consideration form that's been recommended and just opened it up for discussion with the board I have asked Brian Baum to be here with us tonight he was a key stakeholder in developing the current policy that we have so I asked him to be here in case we had questions that I could not answer so if you could take a copy of the current policy and then a copy of and then I'll just review current policy um which is 91.30 with the title of this policy is public complaints and concerns if you um look towards the back you have matters regarding instructional materials see that yeah so superintendent prepares administrative guidelines to ensure students parents are adequately informed each year they're regarding their right to respect instructional materials and having a procedure for completing such an inspection um you can see criticism is to be addressed to the principle in writing includes author title publisher and late and then if you go further down the policy um specific subjects by Page item reasons for the objection on receipt of the information the principal May after advising the superintendent of the complaints and the common superintendent's approval appoints the Review Committee which May consist of one or more professional staff members one or more board members one or more lady persons knowledgeable in the area superintendent shall be a nice official member of the committee the committee and evaluating the question material should be guided by the following criteria which is the appropriateness of the material for the age of maturity level of the students accuracy objectivity of material and the use being made material in question may be withdrawn from use pending the committee's recommendation of superintendent committee's recommendations shall be reported to the superintendent in writing within 15 business days superintendent will advise the complaint that's in writing of the committee's recommendation and advise the board to take action of the action taken for recommended they may appeal that decision within 30 business days to the board through written requests through the superintendent the board will review the case by his explain it in writing of its decision within 30 days that's our current policy policy foreign [Music] 1447 clearly states that the school district must have a policy um that outlines a process for a parent or Community member to provide a complaints or want something removed um I also believe that the new legislation states that we have to have a list of our materials easily accessible online yeah our entire catalog is everything that is available to be available we where we are not confined with the new legislations we also have to have the material consideration form available for download on our School site we have we have this form available if someone comes in currently and has a concern we can we've always been able to end that it needs to be accessible online other than that we are pretty much compliant with the new legislation as we are uh there we really mentioned not not the two I learned this was a graduate school project I did when I was doing my library science degree was the policy this this earned me an A in my in my library public holidays of course uh and the good news is that the new law is pretty much this we just have to have what we already have in place with the exception of having the form also accessible um would it be addressed to uh because it just says Brown County Schools right because this is a this is a generic form for all buildings right so we go to the building principle uh they've been returning to the White House who starts at the building level uh with the the individual principle will deal with the first right foreign do you have quite a few complaints or not or what I mean in 18 years I've had one and once we explained our policy they're like fine I just don't want my kid reading it and so it was certified and they just they didn't they were concerned about the content they just thought it was 20 years so but that that was the other one and it didn't even go to convenience so I realized the world was changing and more and more people are are concerned about these things but as of now I know it was a suspicion earlier about every book in the building those elementary schools that have all the other is that I thought that was part of the law and we have to catalog those and include them as part of the library ideally yes classroom libraries are probably where where we could be getting into this area uh what would have to happen is that individual teachers would have to keep you know on their campus site or whatever in their classroom that aren't cataloged in the library um in a lot of cases for example in uh I know I know helmsford specifically uh almost all the classroom books are books that are Library catalogs that the teachers check out for a semester for the year in other areas I I honestly can't tell you what's an individual is interested and again that could be the gray area but this policy um this policy like anybody can come in and like from doing Tracy's classroom and want to use this policy to review a book that they can operate just because on the website they still get to follow this yeah exactly policy uh and the other week with the law of a pretty prioritize in January it wasn't specific as a good challenge material it now has to be someone who's resident in the county or is a stakeholder in the schools so the a staffer student or their families uh but it can't just be some third-party who's struggling catalogs Nationwide they have to have someone in District so if we ever worked on the County students coming here yeah they could yes but a resident of our fellow mechanic couldn't just look at our catalog yeah yeah so do we need to change our policy to reflect that that it has to be I don't think it says here I don't know whether we need to say that that is the provisions bill when I see on the Forum you have yeah um what about ebooks do we have I know we use the public library for some eBooks I mean we have some academic materials but we don't have ebooks per se um yeah yeah okay and teach you what an additional books into the classroom they need to be providing that list to the principals should be compliant with sure yes and and so you said that's the gray area so maybe um the immediate next step is for us to get this reconsideration form posted on the website so it's easily accessible and then maybe then the next discussion item at a future board meeting would be to discuss what is that process for classroom teachers because I would like to have the opportunity to talk with teachers and the building principles and um figure out a process I'm sure you know it'll be in collaboration and then to be able to present it back for discussion on a later date anyways thank you very much use the resources of the American Library Association and then alter it first yeah grandparency so it doesn't have to ask the questions that need Ed um I remember the title of the bill was materials harmful to minors talks about obscenity and the definition of obscenity um that's not in the policy do you think it needs to be there you just we're just talking about the process there's a little bit here at the end that I don't think you read that it was about something maybe unpopular or offensive to some um but again when we're reviewing the book are we going to be reviewing it on the obscenity standard Yeah we actually have a little group of the review the reviewers have been accessing that should be fair uh the law is pretty pretty broad I was concerned before I read it uh that that as as it has to be pervasive it can't just be one scene or one phrase that is offensive it has to be pervasive throughout the work and uh so as long as you can justify uh that it's a not the basic or B has some literary merit and it can be something that's important in fact most of our crowded American controversial things literary scientific forwards I think that it had to have some other type of artistic idea so that so that was that's what the committee then that would be the standard that committee would be using exactly um so we don't need to put that specific in the process I mean I suppose we could just put it something else well or having the definition I guess since the policy goes on the website but hey I think I might want to look at this book what's the standard and then if the standard is right there then okay well you know probably I probably won't succeed because I can't meet that standard and then I won't make the a complaint or a little mix complaint okay all right any other questions anything else Brian we need to go consider thank you just really pleased on this webinar I was really pleased it's just a matter of having a full accessible electronic fat loss in ever since we moved to apologies in our battle as an unsearchy the food and I know when I was at the middle school and we broke up the library to each of our classrooms I had every book in my collection added to the to the collection so I mean I think a lot of classrooms we have a middle school I know yeah [Music] right right so there are a few tweets that you think that you'll come back to us with is that right yeah we will post a reconsideration form to the website and then on the future court date we will bring it back as a discussion item um with teacher and principal input and this doesn't take effect officially until January 13th right right so we're not behind oh no we're ahead we're ahead of the game okay get it on record rates okay terrific thank you that's good thank you so much um the next discussion item I have and I apologize I wish I could um present it to people that are in the audience tonight but um um I have I wanted to be able to talk about the community engagement survey we discussed this at a previous um school board meeting and this is the company we're using School perceptions to um draft a community engagement input survey after the referendum failed last November so this is um this is close to being the final final draft of this survey and again we're not going to go through and in words meant this but I want to be able to give you the purpose of each page of this survey um you can see on the front page it has the letter to families and community members um just telling them that this is a survey it is in response to the failed referendum it is seeking the input from our community of what next steps we should take before making a decision um this page also shows that there will be a paper copy in every mailbox in the county um residents may fill this out on paper form and send it in they may also scan the QR code and take a survey in that manner um there can be additional uh QR codes given if there's more than one person in the household or if there are differing opinions and want to provide a separate opinion or answers to the survey um again this survey is being done by a third party vendor which is school perceptions all of the surveys go back to them none of it comes through Brown County Schools none of the data comes to Brown County Schools they will once they have collected all of the data they will come and do an actual presentation to myself with all of you at the same time um the second page shows us the demographics and um we want to know the taking the survey we want to know if the primary residence is in Brown County which township that they live in if their employee of the corporation do they have children's in our district um and then a couple of Engagement questions and then we go into the actual Financial background and this just shows a graph stating the local school tax rate for Brown County it being 0.5787 it is the lowest in the state currently you can see that the state average is over a dollar five and then in between you can see the surrounding schools uh in our area and then we have the actual question of the data that we would like to get back and that is on the funding plan and we have a little bit of information here that shows we the community approved the referendum of eight cents in 2016.

have I got that right yep all right nice um neither of us really know that much yeah that much about Tetris we are I do know some Basics though meanwhile Brian Master choking and Brian's down there it is that's a match we're Sam very good man now on to round two got multiple matches going to laid that flat you have every one of our players are off I don't know what I don't know what Brian Master is doing oh okay oh action down oh I wouldn't just uh lost one of his matches Owen two right now for Owen in his current match unfortunately meanwhile in the matchup we're still spectating we got Sam still Brian might choke again you know on that Victor just won a match off screen oh nice oh Brian's cutting it out there it is there it is Sam putting in great work yep you know Jordan you know whenever I play this game 40 lines I can put up a solid like minute 45 seconds I don't know how Jordan and these players can put up minute times I'm very excited to see how they do it meanwhile I'm just talking about George Jordan just got one yep gonna match up against void Walker you got Emmett feature up here the Lego master got a pretty even match up here neither am I cutting it really close they're both going slow at it taking their time and we got and getting a little high up on that board yeah he's getting things sorted out gotta double there looking to rack up big damage definitely good opportunity there it is the quad probably shouldn't be talking at the same time yeah and it's opponent in the red it's going to clear himself up a bit though and it looking to keep the pressure going cutting it really close yep anyone's game here yeah oh Emmett's cutting it close both of them uh who will be who flunk first question and it making it work um there goes Emmett and that is the finish one to one right now switching over to Troyer oh oh you know Sam he just got a victory void Walker's cutting it really close and there goes Floyd Walker nice that's 2-0 for Jordan all right so Jordan he's on his round he's on his third round now yeah Jordan on track for a win meanwhile Sam off screen gotta win either way he wins yeah meanwhile over with Emmett putting the pressure on his opponent going way faster than he did in the previous round definitely going hard now and look at him go double triples down I I don't even know really know how to comment too much just cleared it he's going so fast it's crazy to me how these people do it yeah it's always the close calls too that they always manage to pull off look at them and that goes void Walker took him out that's another win Jordan wins good stuff from Jordan 3-0 for Jordan Emmett went over to Emmett now if it's not a new match then it's looking like it's tied right now opponent sir koala seems to have recovered leave Emmett right now he's the only one with the current ongoing match we're gonna finish off koalas starting to cut it close would have been misplacement from Emmett it's okay though still recover from it meanwhile koala struggling light actually staying alive right now look at them stalling for time just spinning around there it is there goes koala nice two points for Emmett am I gonna finish it off or are we going to a final round well if koala wins well well yeah and it koala wins this is pretty much just go to who will win the next match yes it will Emma just taking his time here looking to set up going for big attacks in the future backing up a bit the damage yeah sir koala got a pretty low board yeah it's starting to cut it close yeah but all it takes for him is just a Tetris block I don't know if that's what it's called I think it's a line piece line peace or something oh and there it is but he had to use it to stay alive oh here we go saving himself here comes the combos the perks of setting up high no gotta build back though all right saving himself staying alive for the time being pretty much just pulling off all the combos doing everything he can to stay in this match trying to finish off sir koala in round four candle man he's done takes us to the final round and it looking to bring home a big victory not actually sure how Owen did in his match I don't know if this is to bring the overall team record to three and one for the game or two and two for the game or a four or no or three and one who knows you can definitely he missed it definitely need to slide in this is a pretty even match they've been going down to the wire very similar skill levels one's still going to come out on top though yep because her koala starting to get a little bit higher on the board are you setting up for the combos there it is the quad me in trouble for them it's all about the combos yeah it's a big part of this game combos oh oh we have a misstep could be fatal as this board goes to red if he doesn't save himself Staying Alive keeping it going oh it's gonna be it though I can hear I can hear the oh it was in the sadness the sadness is koala one mm-hmm it's fine though still I believe it was Sam and Jordan with a victory in their matches yep not entirely sure about Owens very sorry we were paying attention to those matches we had to commentate on we got some unfortunately sadly he lost so for a recap between our entire team of four players our record one yeah our record for this matchup two and two right now two wins being brought home by Sam and Jordan it's looking like Jordan and Sam are re-watching the clip of Lucas chugging a and dumping it all over himself so what are some stuff we were talking about earlier when we were just waiting on the matches to start the false stream kinda we're talking about uh Sam and Jordan re-watching a clip of we're watching Jordans yeah so you can tell how fast it's going yeah it's it's crazy how they do it I don't understand how people go that fast in that mm-hmm carpal tunnel in their future not in a bad way though I mean there's not really a way you can do that just forget I said that no carpal tunnel in their future he he don't drink some oh yeah no I'm jumping some is this wood hold on that's wood good Warriors we're safe or is it theoretically I don't know that's wood that's definitely wood it is I was just mess with you yeah Jordan in the replay of his match he's trying to show off his Sharpie hand tattoo that says hi Connor I think he missed it I think he missed the range of the camera he's just showing the top half of his hand those three matches are still not over yet huh yeah you know once the score changed yeah unfortunate that uh oh hold on bring us over to Owen I think he just accepted the match Grim Reaper oh one might be queued up for a game I don't know I don't know much about this website I guess oh you know unfortunate we don't have any uh we don't have any Lucas to storm into the room stomping and flapping and shouting yeah to to cure the Dead Space I don't know what else to say so it said cure it was actually something to talk about mm-hmm you know he is great when you see him you know playing he's very focused very technical you wouldn't expect him to be the kind of guy to be this funny but he was hilarious during the during the time that he spent commentating in our week one smash match he wasn't even commentating on this yet somehow he was the best commentator somehow storming into the room to stop us from being boring and then turning on the stream to chug a beer root beer beer root beer luckily it's not a beer yeah be root still wasting they're all just sitting there two of them just watching the replay of Jordan yes still oh no Sam yeah oh that's it oh oh go ahead go ahead and take us out guys oh we're done okay wowies are we I didn't realize we were done oh yeah I thought we had way more matches yeah transition here we are again hello hi uh should we do some interviews I have no clue they're gonna send some kids in should probably get Jordan over here probably I don't know how he did the Jordan or Sam Maybe Emmett because he had a really close match yeah uh excuse the time we might read off auctions again auctions not auctions that's one of our sponsors do you have a favorite non-profit that could use an awesome one of those eight pennies goes towards adult education and we would like to know if the community would support renewing this eight cents on a future ballot um and then that funding keeping at that same rate um it keeps our staff wages and our benefits um currently status quo to be able to maintain current programs and services for our students and the staffing needs so there is the physical question would you support me doing the current referendum to maintain programs services and compensation we also have in there that would not increase the school tax rate over the current level it would stay that 5787 we also added a piece down here about that one penny going towards adult education in the career Resource Center um we would like to collect data to see if that is supported by the community again approval would not increase the current School tax rate over the current level and then we added the third question which is the additional funding um one other initiative that could be funded is by by expanding the operational referendum and that would be to expand the eight pennies by two pennies for a total of ten pennies um and that funding plan would go strictly to attracting and retaining staff where we could provide competitive wages and benefits with our neighboring schools we also put in here what that two pennies because it would increase over the current School tax rate um that two pennies on a monthly basis for the 2023 median home value in our district is an additional 1.97 a month it's three pennies over the current level for one acre of agricultural land and a dollar sixty six for every 100 000 of a commercial or rental property so those are accurate accurate numbers based on newly um a b that has been released I know discussion with the last meeting when we talked about the survey there was the question of well let's explore keep an open-ended item that says well how much would you support let's not cap it to pennies would you how much would you support and I went back to school perceptions and and asked them to play with that question a little bit and it just ended up getting so convoluted because you've got residents you've got agriculture you've got rental or commercial property and at the end of the day people want to know how much and what's going and we believe this is the most simple way to get the data that we're requesting I also believe that the community last November and they did not vote to support the referendum so it feels as if though we need the referendum we need the eight cents to maintain we need the two pennies to get a little bit above anything above that um like I think the community told us last November was not supported and then the last page has the cost cutting options um we did not make changes to this page since the last discussion uh again at the end of the day if this is not supported by the community then I believe that the Board needs some help with um what is it that we are going to to consider cutting across the district and that's it um I will tell you the timeline uh which is also attached here for you tonight is October 2nd I am asking for an approval of this final draft um to be able to to finalize it with school perceptions and to be able to send it to an outside editor um we would like to send it to print the week of October night uh it takes about three weeks for printing and mailing there's a whole process of being able we want to email the survey to our staff first um and we want to be able to help answer questions that our staff may have and then a few days later the survey will actually land in mailboxes which would be scheduled around October 30th um when those start to land in the mailboxes of non-employees um we will email survey to the parents so it gets to all of our families at about the same time and then the survey window would be open until about November 17th um and then School perceptions again all of that data is coming back to them they they put all of the data together in a presentation and a report that they will present to the superintendent the school board which would be scheduled early December um the board really needs to make a decision if this is going on at May ballot in January so I do believe it is timely um and I will also tell you that school perceptions um the accuracy prediction on a referendum survey in the state of Minnesota they've never lost one so now you got to remember it's not winning a referendum it's a prediction so they predicted they predicted the school district was going to win or lose accurately they 've they've been 100 in Minnesota and they're at 95 accuracy for the state of Wisconsin um so he told me like you said based on whatever the data comes out we're going to be able to give you a pretty good prediction of if you're going to pass this or not foreign have polling agencies doing that for us so I'm glad to have some kind of numbers I appreciate this tool yeah I think it is going to be really good um I really glad we've made the decision to to go with school perceptions um they've worked really hard to to make it brown County and to try to capture what we're trying to capture um and they they work relentlessly with me um and our team so I I am I am proud of of it and excited to get the data back it is about his final draft as you can get it it will be on 11 by 17 um folded in half so it is four pages they recommend 1200 to 1600 words this is currently at 1166 words so it is in a sweet spot just the way it is right now do you have questions every every resident in the account right with a self-addressed envelope in case anybody would like to fill it out in paper and send it in versus doing it through a QR code and again we can get extra survey codes very easily they're more than one person in a household right so if you've got a couple and one does it on paper the other can do it will we have them available like at the Elementary's um with the high school the middle school for people so if they want to do paper but they didn't get one or I think we will have it everywhere as we possibly can they will be emailed to every family that we have in the district as well again every staff member who will have extra copies the QR code that is on the specific survey is a one-time use code so it's not like somebody like dawned to go and do 10 of these um so they have that figured out as well the only thing I think of is um when I was looking at this cost cutting options yes there were two options that occurred to me that someone might think of that isn't on the list and I know we have a place over here for comments questions and suggestions should that be just move to the end or do we like it say I wanted to add something else would I go back to the previous page or no I think we want those comments questions and suggestions on simply the funding plan the actual question um yeah he he strongly went against any kind of open comments other than films right here for that and they could add that like comments questions suggestions if you write whatever questions from the board so I know you said the QR code is a one-time code um what if I got 10 surveys from the elementary violent is the company know that those are all coming I don't know the research or the um I I don't I don't know those answers haven't figured that but being a survey company is sort of I would suspect they have some way of it okay yeah and they will be able to give us every metric that is possible and what's our margin of error and you know who are staff members who are not staff members who say absolutely no to I mean all of the sample reports he's done any other questions as I said I'm really excited it's hard to get David for books that you would do so I'm really eager to see and have a public help us decide what it is that we're going to do next right thank you thank you all right moving on to number six approval of the public session minutes for September 18 2023.
