Mill's seconded by Commissioner Trudeau we are in discussion stretcher down Thank You Alexis for the corrections and the cleanup one really small thing is there are two ands and the sentence in front of us and I'm 14 and Ali's so it suggests taking the first handout that's the only thing I had to say thank you any other discussion in chapter 1 now the last sentence of the definition Street highway alley says the word alley shall mean any such way or place providing a secondary means of ingress or egress from a property so for places like minor in court it is very skinny for sure but that wouldn't meet the definition of an alley because that's the primary access for those Lots so I have not come across in my experience we're not considering an alley as a front and frankly we've not been applying fronts to alleys - I like in the downtown there's no front setback we don't take the front setbacks in the downtown area I I understand there might be concerned there's perhaps some situation I'm not thinking of and I would respond that that is the purpose of the Zoning Board of Appeals commissioner Ackerman Thank You mr.

Saluda is correct in that our former controller bill Davidson did discover deliverance I'm sorry I'm sorry bill Levin's they discovered that the 3.3 million dollars was missing one thing to notice he discovered it seven months before I took office we don't know we did a lot of investigation and we did a lot of research we talked to the FBI we talked to our chief of police and what we discovered is that many of the records that we needed to try to determine where the 3.3 million dollars had gone were missing we don't know when that happened but my guess is it happened over a long period of time from the town not closing its books every year and saying hey my accounting says I should have million dollars in the bank my bank account has 900,000 where's the difference so that is where we are with that we built the general fund up since then on the increase that I'm talking about 29% if you look at the mo rate increase right and the amount of money that's been cut from the state budget that's what equals a 29% thank you please state your name and your address Madeline Delia 16 Vale Road so I was just wondering in the presentation you focused a lot on tax increases and why we need to increase spending in Brookfield but I was just wondering if you had any plans on how to cut spending in places where that could be an option as well because people can't handle all the tax increases that are being proposed I was just wondering if there are any future plans on how we could get that under control [Music] well I agree with you that it would be a best the best case scenario for everybody in town is that zero percent increases in our taxes but as we discussed tonight we're losing money from the state every single year at least over the last four years we have to make that money up second we have obligations that are contractual such as union contracts for the teachers and all the people who work in Town Hall so we have cut spending in some areas and if you'd like we can go over that in greater detail I don't have all those details with me but we have cut some spending we've cut the board of education budget has been cut from the request every single year the town's budget has been cut the increase has been cut just as everyone in this room feels it things cost more they do and we have to pay for those things and what we're trying to do I know this doesn't really answer your question directly we're trying to pay for more things in cash and that will save you a lot of money in the long term that's but if you want to come by my office stop by but I go over the list of things where we have made cuts okay [Music] hi Mel putilov 12 Riverview Court it is my understanding that last year's budget there were two errors one forty four hundred seventy thousand dollars of employee reimbursement for the insurance 130 thousand of assessments was this included back in this year's budget yeah so the fourteen seventy thousand dollars was budgeted by our finance department last year and they had included 13 months of expense versus 12 and we caught it 138 thousand I'm not sure exactly what you're talking about with the honey oh yeah so the bellman assessment from the WPC a again our controller put it in and she did not realize 19 months ago that that assessment was rolling off it did so we had one hundred and thirty eight thousand dollars in an assessment we did not have to pay and we we corrected that this year thank you are there any further comments or items for discussion Jack Jack Jack it works ok sorry I'm short so I just want to thank everyone for Detroiters for itself so I want to just now thank the birds I will note the budget I know it's it's hard to see no taxes go up over here but just his point I think just the nature of where we are in the world today it's very hard to get nice things and not pay more for them but importantly I just want to thank everyone for a change in tone so when we moved here five years ago I was sort of shocked the level of acrimony and lack of professionalism in how the town's finances were being managed in the sort of entitlement attitude that I kind of found with some of the leaders as sort of a fact that it was a privilege for us to sort of be in their presence and kind of forgetting that that really they're here to sort of serve us as community members so I've seen a big change you know across both house it's not meant to be a partisan comment just generally I feel like there's a lot more cooperation that everyone that's up here is really working towards making the town even better than it is and you know you can also just a lot of negativity so I just want to say thank you um Laura Orban 95 Stony Hill Road so also I would like to thank all of the boards and everyone that worked on the budget I know it's a very long process and this is sort of hopefully the end um and hopefully this will pass so it really will be the end I think that when things are going well people are not as engaged in the process and we don't have as big a turnout although I agree that there is a large community that is watching from home right now but I I think that everything that we heard tonight it seems all very reasonable I think to me it sounds like you do have a very steady plan the increase and the item costs for bonding the investment in schools recovering from you know major cuts even from a few years ago what a $600,000 cut in one year I remember at the time talking about the fact that that will take five or ten years to recover from just in and of itself not even considering the fact that then every year after that they're still going to be investments that have to be made listening to you talk about the controlled sustained growth having the factor for teacher the potential for teacher retire the teachers retirement having to be a consideration which may or may not happen so to me this seems all very logical and reasonable and clear that it was done as a cooperative effort kind of as as what as Victor said I I think the tone is a lot different and so I appreciate that I I feel like I still have this is the letter last year there's always you know a few days before the budget you get something from an anonymous PAC that says don't support the budget because it's too high and I really hope that we don't have that this year and as residents we can all give you the support and the courtesy that you have given us and putting together something so reasonable and useful for the town and be advocates for the budget and unsupported as well so thank you for your work and I hope we all can give you the same respect okay if there are no further questions or comments I'll close out there's one right I'm sorry rich can you come up because people that people can't hear here you go again I don't mean to be pesky but I'm trying to find a number that you're using to determine 29% and you said the millwright number the MU right number is 3 million the budget expense is 3.4 million either one of those numbers as the denominator is doesn't bring 29 percent so I'm just trying to figure out what number use it that's all let me know if it's okay with you rich I don't hold people up I'll send you how we got to that number does it make sense are there any further comments or questions if nothing will close discussion on this particular resolution because this resolution must be voted on at a referendum there is no vote on it tonight but the Town Meeting does need to set a referendum date tonight which is the next resolution so we're gonna move to resolution to vote on referendum date can I get a motion from the floor please to set Tuesday May 21st from 6 a.m.

sandy moving on we have item 5.3 employee recognition the cube award and I'll introduce the cube award from from the dice and explain what the history of the cube award is the loser program that was started in a 1990 school year and over the years has recognized over 200 employees and it's one of the rare employee recognitions that we have in Asuza where all the labor groups bargaining union leaders as far as management come together to select outstanding employees throughout the district for their service to not just Asuza in the community but their service to one another and so they're recognized and nominated by amongst and each other and then we have a group of employees and management folks who come together and actually select our winners so at this time I'd like to call Meghna Nasser the director of physical services to present she's truly deserving the outstanding employee award Anna has made significant contributions she came with 24 years of experience in accounting positive direction that it is right now so congratulations [Applause] and now I'd like to call up miss Laura Clarke printable of Dalton elementary school good evening everybody I have the pleasure of introducing you to Veronica surveen Veronica might look a little familiar to you because she was just honored last week at the Teacher of the Year ceremony so this is this is her year although every year is her year because she is amazing every single year and lastly last week I talked about how much effort she gives to make our school a better place she improves our school climate she improves all the events that we have so today I get another chance to share something else and that is about her teaching veronica is a kindergarten teacher and kindergarten is so hard I just can't tell you how hard it is I am so grateful for her every year at the beginning of the school year because those little ones don't always come in ready or willing to go into the classroom and so and we've even gotten some in years mid-year students who aren't so ready or willing to come into the classroom and Veronica makes such a happy wonderful place for kids now this is her daughter Sophia by the way she's a mother of two and her daughters in kindergarten so and like I said the students can be very challenging at times and this year has been a particularly challenging year for students in her classroom not only with behaviors but turnover and other a myriad of other issues and as you can see from the smile on her face the beautiful smile on her face that she always keeps a positive attitude she works so hard I mean nobody works harder than Veronica she is absolutely dedicated and the kids want to be in her classroom it doesn't take very long for students to be willing to stay in her classroom because of the wonderful learning that happens in there because of the joy that she brings to them to the students to the families and the funny thing about Veronica too is that she makes such a wonderful environment that her pair don't leave so she has parents volunteering in her class 1 right now as a fifth grade student and that she's been volunteering ever since so I'm just so grateful and pleased to honor her twice this month for all the wonderful work that mr.

dinner I also am the coordinator of the downtown historic study and taury sort of group we've been involved in lots of things over the course of time and what we've done is created a multi-million dollar sort of project in the downtown the Kurt yesterday as a matter of fact we took 260 students from community high school various tours of the harvest history with regard to its importance in terms of who it is that we are and South University I lived in the amber a for 30 years and during the course of that time I was related to a lot of the stuff that was there all the people who were there read cry and the village apothecary and all that sort of thing their role really in creating the the Art Fair directly from the South University people themselves they clean their own speech they put up the locations where you could have public art actually for that yearly thing that we do and bring in all these people into the video I just want to say with regard of the nature of that is one of the things in terms of art we need to identify our project is being both art and its artistic one and education one and then what we've done is we've created on South University in those three blocks of situation in which we put in six elements of exhibits two glass frames and four wall images which are made of porcelain enamel in there currently they're moved to various locations some of them and they will be placed back we hope and what we're gonna work to have in place back perhaps in different locations in that area so that people can have a real sense that regard of what South University was over the course of time because those of us who lived in South University or those of us who lived in the the areas on the other side of Washington are County they walked down south University to get to the University of South the kind of real sense that they had that this was a part of the nature of their identity it's something that we refer to and both artistic and educational and I expect that I'll be speaking again perhaps not to this group but in other groups you know whether it's the Planning Commission the City Council on the nature of this issue and we support certainly other art in the area downtown but we paid for all the art we raise the money for all the others there and we hope that we can cooperate with the developers he really getting it back to an area where what we can do is conduct our tour is once again down South University and show people what it used to be and have that as a part of its identity in relationship to what's going there today we're not opposed to the nature of the development we want to see ourselves get as much as we possibly can out of it thank you thank you very much more comments I'd entertain a motion to adjourn all those in favor say aye we're adjourned you

chair for we set aside for 5:17 3a but it's probably more out of curiosity than will be impactful but so this was originally this was language originally passed in the 80s and then it looks like at some point it was um it was and we believed inadvertently I've got a forensic analysis okay it appears unfortunately this has happened before but it appears that when when when you proposed an amendment and then another staff person comes along and proposes an amendment if you don't take the most recent version if you take an old version then the new amendment gets overwritten inadvertently because versioning control does the UDC helped to eliminate that risk it should good all very interesting very interesting Thank You mr. Mill's mine is following up on that exact issue so the how it's written now and going back to the 1980s version is this how staff had been interpreting it for the last yes 30 almost 40 years yes okay so this was one of the things that we should have caught in the process of the UDC because when we were when we were creating the UDC we were trying to go with how it was actually being interpreted rather than necessarily where there were conflicts right exactly okay I just want to make sure it's not changing practice and the things that we've seen in the last we've seen a lot of park donations right especially up on the northeast side and so as long as we've been interpreting it as we are now yes drafting it right and that's we must have had a project recently that came up and said oh no no you don't get penalized for park land donation and someone must have said well where does it say that in the code like oh wait no that's not right and then you will go back and do the search through the code to find out you know where was the correct one but yet the history of this amendment is that your your floor area ratio or your density would be established prior to so we don't want to penalize anyone for doing a park land donation it specifically says here that lot area does not include public or private right of way and that's you take your live area afterwards you know there may be benefit to changing that but that would be that should be built as a change but this is a correction I can we have the documentation to demonstrate that this is a correction but the UDC is a it's an ordinance now you can't just change change norden's very good thank you all those in favor please say aye opposed it's approved moving on to ten six fourteen River you drive we will start with a staff report Leo thank you this is 614 River View Drive annexation and r1b zoning designation these folks are proposing to annex to connect to city water and sewer the River View Drive area is off of Gettys near the Huron River and gala at the park staff is recommending approval thank you this time I'd like to open up a public hearing is there anyone in the audience wishes to address the Planning Commission in regards to this item seeing no one I will close the public hearing and read the motion the University Planning Commission hereby recommends that the mayor and city council approved the Wilson berry annexation and our 1b single-family dwelling district zoning 614 River View Drive move bike mr.

Philip Mycoskie was being the recipient of the 2019 village' liberation [Applause] you saved the best for last Kelly Jankowski I'm Bob breaker and with Woodbridge VFW Post 1578 Veterans of Foreign Wars the United States we establish a scholarship with the attention assisting one or more high school students in their pursuit of continuing education this scholarship was named after former Post Commander Jim Stewart the Iraqi war veteran was very active with many the causes of the VFW Jim died in 1999 after cancer the applicant must demonstrate the spirit of what Jim Cott Jimmy Stewart believed in namely his patriotic and community-based Christmas the recipient is also must be a member or relative or descendant of a VFW eligible veteran with me tonight is Morris Stewart James White Woodridge VFW is proud to this [Applause] at this point in the program we've completed the presentation from our community members on behalf of South Asia well I would like to recognize and extend our gratitude to every community member present here tonight in the organizations that they represent it's a pretty amazing gesture on their butt and it's inspiring to think about what that says about our larger community sure I can speak for every student when I say regardless of the dollar amount but I know I speak for their planet they appreciate your gratitude or the awards you've extended to them and we extend our gratitude to you so please join me [Applause] [Music] I really have to uh graduates I hope you paid attention and heard some of the criteria that these awards were giving for us it's more about what you do for others that will get you recognized throughout your life so at this moment we're going to take a three minute stretch break we're going to reset the stage do not leave the auditorium dispatch at your seats for three minutes and we'll get started with the school [Music] thank you we continue now with the self academic recognitions all of these awards will be presented by your system principal for a counseling experiences [Applause] and reflecting on we honored that I have of recognizing our academic honors awards I was thinking about how this group of seniors is often recognized for the answers they have they do well on tests but I would argue that that's not why we should honor them tonight not because of the answers they have because I would say that every single one of them in reflection aided by their teachers are the students that have the best questions so I encourage you to remember that as you head off onto the next portion of your life journey questions are far more important than answers is I've got to know more adults in my life I'm always impressed by people that have great questions as opposed to ones that know the answers and I encourage you to keep that value in how you present yourself as a scholar in your next journey the first group of scholars were recognizing tonight are those that earned a 3.4 GPA or higher after seven semesters if this group would please stand and fix the audience and remain standing [Applause] there were 160 seven of them in the senior class that heard a 3.4 GPA or higher a great admiration of Industry yeah take a look at that I have great admiration for this group because when I was a senior at South High School 36 years ago I graduated with the three points 390 v8 so it was salty about that they di turned in math but I'll get over it soon but really congratulations great work keep it up the next group of spellers we're going to recognize or the ones learning the academic highliners if this group would please stand [Applause] before I say a few words about this group I would also like to point out that there was live not mentioned in the program and we will rectify that soon those not in the program were operated go to per ton for Teleca coming wave Ashley Wells and Vincent Woodman this group of students put this in perspective 4.0 or higher after seven semesters so you might be thinking well as they like screenings right well it's not it's a lot of babies I had a lot of honors classes students really stretching themselves and push themselves into territories across academic areas this group really deserves our appreciation for the and finally they please have the students with her academic distinguished honors please come to the stage [Applause] so as I say a few words about this room I just want to point something out that just happened and I hope you heard it as well it's one of the reasons I like working at South High School we do recognize our athletes and we recognize our musicians and our artists and our actors but you heard the applause and cheers for our distinguished academic honors it's something that's valued here above all others in most cases and I'm officially all of you recognizing that in their ears that academic excellence is truly what we value and I would also say that every single one of them along with taking the most rigorous courses available excelling in almost every single case are also extremely involved students you've already heard that several times where the presenters not sure how they get everything done in one day but they have been leaders for us in a variety of environments and situations so I'd like to read their names now as mrs.

Adam I was putting that together and he's put a lot of work into that I want to go ahead and share with you guys that today I had a chance to go to the Southern California cement Mason training facility and I was able to get some information for to share with our Adult School and and for our students who would be graduating i I want to go ahead and thank Terry Perdomo and they left and Brodie and all the art teachers for putting the time and energy that they do to their students it's it's extra what they do and I'm sure a lot of the teachers they you guys know put a lot of their time and their money into it and I just want to thank you guys teachers and the art teachers for just putting in that time these students will will will be so much better just because of you we have somebody in the crowd today and it's her birthday and she decided to be here today said I want to wish Melissa ramnik a happy birthday and I am happy to announce that this last Saturday I am an official MSW Masters in Social Work and I was hooded last week Wednesday and Saturday I was able to walk and receive my degree so alright I'll be brief congratulations Gabi we're all very proud of you um and I echo what my colleague said about about Teacher Appreciation Day I think the bedrock of our of our schools is our the teachers in the classrooms so you cannot thank them and we can't thank them enough for what they do I do want to move just finish off on a very honest ombré a little somber note I mean that is well kind of so on the aijalon announced on May 22nd there's gonna be a very large rally up at the State Capitol CTA is participating aft participating the School Board Association is participating and we're all going to be up there demanding full and fair funding because we live in a state where we're the fifth largest economy in the world and we're 41st in funding and so when we look at our budget and over the couple meetings we're going to be looking at our budget right and we're gonna having hard conversations about how do we serve the students that we need to serve at the level that we want to serve them in with the bunny that we're getting from the state and it's not fair to any of you it's not fair to our students and so we will be joining up there with with all of the other colleagues across the state demanding that the state address this issue because that's where our funding comes from and so I want us to keep our eye on up there because ultimately we make local choices here but it's all driven by this box that the state puts us in right and so I hope I hope we'll see you're the union presidents up there with us and other representatives of up there with us or I think there actually might be some local rallies as well demanding with the state provide us with the funding that we need to have so that we can pay our teachers fairly so that we can provide the services that we want for our students that the level of service that we want for our students um so with that we'll go on to the rest of our board meeting and we'll move on to comments and reports by student or member could not attend today so we'll move on to our cabinet just wanted to you know Anna has already left in her family but she's part of our fiscal team and just in the short time that I've been here it's been an honor to work with her and see her continued contribution to the district and to the fiscal team she's kind of been our go-to person to bring in all of the new folks into the department and kind of show him the ropes so very appreciative of her and her contribution thank you I recently the Board of Education made that very difficult decision of moving towards closing schools and our work with our bargaining units really took hold as we started to negotiate the effects of those those closures and there was a bit of a culmination that took place on Friday we're in able to execute the effects of those closures and I have to say that I I continue to be just awed and honored by our teachers because throughout the very difficult process they really were outstanding professionals very classy knowing that the many of them were moving from schools that they've been at for many many years and where many friendships and celebrations have been shared and moving on to new and different schools and as we all know that change can be difficult and I have to say that our teachers were absolutely amazing and it really did take a team effort on the part of the district and also our bargaining unit leaders as well so I like to express my sincere deep appreciation for everyone involved thank you very much thank you thank you good evening I just want to take the time to thank in public our parent advisory committee that oversees our El Cap process we had a full day a couple of Fridays ago where we went through some proposed changes for the out cap I do see some of the members in the audience so thank you for being here tonight and I just want to again just say that how how proud I am about the the manner in which the Inquirer they ask questions they collaborate they they see each other they bounce off of each other and tonight we're going to be sharing with you some recommendations that came out of that of that meeting but I just wanted to publicly thank all the committee members thank Jennifer O'Brien for her work with the PAC Plus this year as well thank you good evening and again I like the others I want to first off thank and congratulate our teachers for the work that they do day in and day out and earlier somebody who had mentioned but Kim like having 25 children can you imagine and yet the magic the teachers do whether it's with the littlest kids or the oldest ones is amazing and really does change lives and so thank you for what you're doing I'm also want to congratulate as Adrienne Greer did are that big sign over there this is going to be in front of Paramount Lee and Ellington top schools in LA County this is a brand-new award that USC put together and that ward signifies they're in the top 15 percent of schools that serve here in LA County over a million students I think that's really really pretty high so let's go around to applause and let's see here I see I see Antonio here alexis is here and let's see who else hey come on come on up Anna all of you come up I want you to have a chance to be seen by the group here okay teachers come come come yes everybody come up Lika if I can ask you take one picture here with the board in background but then take a picture over there by the banner please Adrian why did you go with them since you went to the wait wait wait hold on all right Rick could take it over there with you in front of the other vision since he trekked out to us seat ahead to be with you guys on Saturday well you should know Alexis that she went there [Laughter] and thank you to all the staff that made that happen for the students and and you know for the honor of your school is really really incredible the other thing I wanted to congratulate people on and share the good news we just heard today that glass in high school they have their WASC review earlier in the year and they got the highest accreditation rating which is a six-year rating and we're very very proud of them so congratulations that's in high school thank you very much all right thank you before moving on to closed session - I just wanted to add one thing so I misspoke earlier when I talked about we want to make sure all our teachers are paid why we want to make sure all of our employees are paid well right I think I think I had Teacher of the Year on the mind so our chief Sofia's all of our employees all right so next moving on report of closed session I it matters no nothing to report there there was no action taken so move on to Jen item 10 section 10 general functions we have item 10.1 student board member role and before I turn this over to Adrienne I just wanted to let the board know I asked this to be an agenda item because I know we talked he talked about it briefly during public comment but I think we want to get our processes in order and so that means if we're gonna send a board member off to do some work for the board we want to make sure we discuss it and give them directions so I asked them to put the two puts on the agenda and I asked Adrienne to drop a brief proposal of what he's envisioning in terms of how do we engage the students to create authentic engagement and so I'm turning it over to you Adrienne thank you talk about this thank you so so yeah I have this there's a little note here that I dropped off for review but but in essence and to reiterate some of what would have communicated in the past I think that we have we have really do have a tremendous opportunity to engage our students in in different ways than we have with the student board roll up till now I think it's great that we have representation that we have students that are that are here across the different schools but I think that again there's a room to to actually have dialogue and create channels for for students to directly communicate to us and so I've laid out some some things for us to consider so one would be for for us to define our purpose you know why do we have students what the reason that we would want to even have this to have students here just so that we're on the same page about that and then also refine the process and the structure of that role and so purposes that I have that I you know suggesting one that we're providing the school board with student perspectives and insight to be best positioned to make informed decisions at the Dyess to to provide clear channels for students to communicate matters of importance to the school board on a regular and ongoing basis so that it doesn't just happen when there's an issue or when when a challenge arises or or just when we're celebrating but that there's there are regular points of communication and also of course providing opportunities for students to gain leadership abilities as representatives of their peers across the district and so some of the structure that I'd really like us to consider is one develop a consistent process and criteria for our student board members to be selected and identified as a student board rep and then also reshaping that role a little bit to be so that again it can students recognize what their role is as a representative and that there are channels created and promoted for students to be able to communicate any important matters up to them and over to us at the board level and so I've already sat down and talked with Linda a bit about this and but I want to make sure that I'm doing as I'm wanting to take next steps I want to do so with a pointment and blessing of the board and so I'm asking to be considered to take some necks some further steps and be appointed by the board to do so so can you clear so you have some pretty some pretty detailed suggestions for the process instructor so have you this is has this come out of discussions with the students or where's it where's this coming from some of it yeah so a lot of a lot of this came out of a student that sent me an email earlier in the year just about some wanting to connect and so I went and sat down with her and some of her her peers and realized as she's communicating some of the things that she's communicating these are great things and and maybe it's an extra special situation that I'm that that a board member is coming and sitting down to meet with them and talk to him about some of these things but how do we make that not extra-special how do we make that regular thing where there's regular communication so that came out of some of those initial conversations that I've had with those students so moving for I mean do you want to just turn this into update our policy to reflect this or is there a process you want to go through with to sort of finalize these recommendations no I'd like to I'd like it to take some next step before coming back with with the recommendation which would include me continuing to go and meet with with students further around around this work and shaping what it would look like all right so you're gonna meet with students at like the board members or the school sites what do you at the school sites I think I want to start with some of the students that that where this idea was birthed from I want to honor them and honor some of their suggestions and so starting some conversations with them but even you know talking how do we include leadership classes and also expertise of teachers or and/or staff that that already at the school sites also understanding what has the process been up till now that's something that I've asked and I don't know that we have a clear process at every school so there has to be some investigation to know where we are in order to take steps next steps on on what it could look like melanda so I'm reading right here where he said coach school remembers on how do you make more comments providing insights well I do know they do they have a CSV workshop right and what did they learn there it's just what they learn when they go to sort shop yeah I wonder knew so we currently so we currently send them to the Council of the California Association of school councils training which is an is in September CSPA also has a student board member day at the CSP conference and we've never sent anybody to that oh this you know I've never really accepted it so um but I'm not sure I who's gone with who Scott we've always had somebody with their my counselor so maybe you can even find out what they learn at that training yeah and whether it's my compare that to the CSB a training as well to see which one it would be more valuable and even even speaking on that like what I mean as far as coaching I'm grateful that we you know we have our students that read us you know different events that are happening during their their board comment time but again I think there's a room during that time for them to really use that as an opportunity to share out valuable information and valuable comments for us as a board so you're not you're not you're not talking about coaching what they say but about building leader capacity exactly right okay so I think I think he's just looking for a direction for us from us to say yes go do this Adrian so well yeah it sounds great I think it's good I think this is a great great beginning to be able to build a partnership with the students and building their their leadership skills and using that time for not just reading off dates and events that are happening and as our our crowd kind of dozed off for a little bit no offense to school board member role but at the same time if there's issues going on or there's a dialogue that needs to be addressed I think this would be a great time to for them to address it so you can find out excuse me how are they selected yeah I mean are they only need to be ASV or they're just any student they want to participate I think you know I don't think we know that how they're selected because usually I notice it's like the school president the president of the school you know I like to get the opportunity to any any child that wants to participate maybe through an application absolutely yeah right process that's yeah well there are some boards that interview and choose and we've left that towards the sites but but I with this there's we can discuss the different options out there right if you just in detail just how did the rotations gonna work just so we all have a clear understanding so I'll give you say because what I what I envision so right now the way that it works is as I understand it we have school board members that from each of the sites that take a third of the year but they're only assigned for that role just for that one third of the year my suggestion and and what I want to kind of sit down and look at is if the role was for an entire year but there was throughout throughout the third of the year one of them was designated to actually sit down with us but they're still having time to meet and connect and make sure that information is being shared up they meet so that that way they're communicating up so there's there is always representation and some of communicating matters that may happen at Azusa high store or other other places from that perspective even if we have a student that's from ceará high school that's currently sitting at our at the dice from what I recall when we did have when I first came in there was a student at stat here the whole year and they were either juniors or seniors and you know they had sports or at the end they wouldn't come you know either they have to do homework or they were senior their graduate so I think that's when we changed it if I'm correct to the 3rd because we did they used to come and then they didn't come and they wanted to do other things so my recommendation was have a hybrid of the two yeah that would be good and I think so in terms of timeline are you think woody I mean what's more ascending so yeah so my hope would be able to have some conversations do some work now so that starting in this the upcoming school year we can be able to launch with the new model okay all right all right Thank You Adrian all right and that wasn't an action item so we'll move on to the next item to the citizens Oversight Committee annual report I'd like to invite mrs.
