hammerschmidt one more thing something you said in the discussion about the disbursement of the Fertile Hadi housing used made me think of this soundproofing like like sound mitigation in between the units I mean I don't know if people that are on the waiting list for affordable units would opt out of can they opt out probably right like I don't know that I want to live in a building full of students but that just made me think like what are you what kind of things are you doing in the building in terms of like not being able to hear loud music coming from the person next door or like well that's a that that comes to somewhat of a management but obviously between units you have sound bad insulation it goes between the walls in those aspects there so so far we haven't heard any issues between you and a unit with anything but if somebody's playing loud music it becomes a management issue so if we're like we actually were talking with a tenant who was below the unit that's being considered the party unit now that we're finding and she's like yeah you know we can hear them if they drop something or everything and there was a little bit they were getting a little bit loud but they told management and you know management was able to take handily so you can only do so much to sound dampen it but they're still going to be noise no matter what and that becomes now to a management that if there is a noise nuisance that is handled by management and that is usually a part of the lease documents as well but you're doing everything you can do in terms of stuff right yeah we and we look at that in general just because you don't want have a noisy building I mean those are a lessons some of the lessons that we learned from when we did landmark and some of the things that we've done differently - okay I've lived in places where I feel like I there's like hardboard in between the walls yeah no we put sound bat specifically sound bat between the between the mice in walls and the corridor walls and everything - so great thank you mr.

Branca I'm not sure I feel comfortable suggesting postponing for it to come back to us though I I think I understand that it's difficult to take this feedback around design I think you've heard it over and over again though from different bodies and so and the next body you go to is the one that seems to be have the most interest in neighborhood character in the community right now so I think it's maybe worth your time to really think about how the center faces I thought the recommendations that councilmember Ackerman gave were at least very much in line with things that I thought made a lot of sense and character to draw upon and things you could say that you were drawing upon so on that question and those are very helpful comments that we can take back and implement itself my feeling is that we move forward on this this evening you know these this is a out of our purview at this point so I don't see a reason to stop any further discussion are we ready for a vote all right all those in favor please say aye aye opposed it's proved thank you next item on our agenda is audience participation this is the opportunity for anybody in the audience to address the Planning Commission you'll have up to three minutes to speak on any subject you would like if you'd like to address the Planning Commission please step forward state your name and address for the record Oh Ethel Potts again I thought I should have said when you were dealing with the Hideaway Lane that when it had been before Commission before when it was an issue the in the past the biggest single problem was the waterway there was great difficulty keeping it under having it under control dealing with it dealing with runoff everything that would relate to an open waterway needs to be looked at again is it in better shape in worse shape what are the plans thank you thank you I'll be real brief I represent Ken Bryant who's the owner of medicine man and Arbor which is a medical marijuana provisioning Center here in Ann Arbor state license maybe somebody can answer this question for me after the meeting because I'm just kind of getting involved with what the local codes and things so for the S II use I'm understanding that there's gonna be 28 issued for medical marijuana provisioning centers can currently has one of those but his being he's got problems with the landlord so he's being forced to relocate and he is next in the queue but I've gone through online and found a couple of them that you know they were applied for years ago and nothing has been done on these I'm wondering at what point do some of these you know either get denied or somebody else gets a chance you know come to the table what is the process on that you know how long do they get you know as a state licensing issue like they're waiting for the state licenses I'm not really sure that I would agree that that would be fair I mean Ken it's got a place licensed he's ready to go feel like you know something in in terms of getting these either approved or denied you know they shouldn't be taking years is all pretty much what I'm saying so if maybe somebody can shed some clarification on that for me I would very much appreciate it thank you and I'm sure mr.

Ruby and our two elementary principals and we that was one portion of the meeting early in the morning we met with alt our transportation because they talked about their 77047 for buses and how we make this work we talked about healthy soil start times now that may impact things and we talked about tears and bust tears and a lot of ideas and estimates we come forth coming from all-star we also met with the visual and performing arts folks really a vision of a band room in the choir room in the art studio so really exciting stuff there proper storage for the instruments that secure and safe and I mean just incredible stuff do we do we have a stage that opens to the what now is the conceptual would be gym and a cafeteria open to sized and cool creative ideas way to approach to school talk about neighborhood concept we also had had in the as Steve alluded to not only physical education but Parks and Rec was there so Mary Knox is Christopher abuse from there's we'll also talk about the ball fields in the use for the community as well and what we need and I mean just incredible amount of discussion we're gonna have another meeting with that same group again too technical call us those ideas and start to really develop a no longer a conceptual plan something is starting to really get a pencil a paper for real in addition to that we're gonna be sitting with the nurses and food service and the media specialists and so forth to get their ideas on what would be ideal soon so that's over the course of the fall I mean every couple of weeks that goes by we're gonna be really making progress on this design on top of that we're looking at enrollment very closely with the design and the inflexibility that we built in and we're gonna make this work and so the things that we need to continue to pay attention to it's really an exciting time now it's really eight legs so the other thing I want to also speak in gratitude I thank mr.

Kowalski will be happy to address that shortly after the meeting is there anyone else in the audience who wishes to address the Planning Commission seeing no one moving on to Commission proposed business the only thing I would just like to discuss very briefly and I don't think this is an art in our purview is the lyft and uber situation that we have in the city and I have now seen many cities no longer allow pickups and drop-offs on major roadways like Main streets and some very busy roads so I would ask that Commissioner Ackerman maybe take this back to Council or whoever which ever Commission is responsible for this but that might be something to think about first the University here on Main Street some of our major roads so commercial breaks yeah just add to that I thought the comment around Amazon was actually also really useful that's I I can't imagine how many Amazon deliveries they get every single day and that has got to be it's something we need to plan for downtown I couldn't see it I know but actually on their floor plans they have Amazon drop boxes or if you could see it on their floor plans they have large areas set aside specifically for Amazon which is something we wouldn't have thought of obviously just those fans coming up in now that there's you know independent delivery vehicles too and there's been some question anyway there's a whole lot there the second thing that I feel like we spend just a ton of time on probably unnecessarily so repetitively is bike parking in the downtown ABC and I think that if there's a way for maybe Transportation Commission to get take a look at those requirements or some sort of interface between planning and transportation to take a look and see if those sort of our requirements are in line with our needs I think we just we talked about it quite a bit mr.

Ackerman Thank You mr. chair I wanted to give a quick plug it to make sure that the ordinance revisions committee is focusing on and maybe pushing staff a little bit around short-term rental regulation this is something that has a big impact on neighborhoods on community building and on affordability we're seeing a lot of homes being purchased up and essentially turned into hotels which really runs counter to a lot of both the best practices and the philosophies and our conversations around the supply of housing for people who live here and so it's something that's on the work plan I just wanted to give a plug for that to keep the momentum up it's a council directive so I promised a colleague I would give that plug but it's from me as well commissioner Ackerman is it is this your last meeting do we know for sure I don't believe so so I will actually be out of town at the next meeting for work and I'm gonna send a reminder out to the group but I also don't know the mayor's calendar for nominating and that'd be a month long process we will see you next in the week after that and a week after that all right any further commission proposed business commissioner breaks since we don't know the timeline and you said you're definitely not gonna be here in the next meeting I just wanted to thank you for your service on the Commission it has been outstanding and I feel like I have learned something from you at every single meeting and I appreciate the thoroughness that you come to this meeting one reporting back to us about what's happening at City Council but also really thoughtfully looking at at the projects in front of us and despite concerns of some I think you've done it in a particularly unbiased way where you've tried to be very responsive to all of the questions and make sure that they got answered in a meeting so thank you so much for all the effort that you've put in here [Laughter] it would it would be a month-long process to to get someone else seated so I trust that I'll be back for another Planning Commission meeting so you can save your your sob story ahead of ourselves carried away all right do I have a motion to adjourn move that Commissioner hammerschmidt seconded by Commissioner of survey we are adjourned thank you you

[Music] No [Music] and then the so everybody can see you here and then the rest of us will stand in the hopes of months that will lead us from their seats in the bus [Music] thank you yeah so we have attended as presented or so the approval of the agenda yes yes thanks to the morning mr. go from the listening you have two quick items the first one is back during the state of the district meeting the parent advisory committee was discussed and their role in selecting the principal and at the time there was more information that was promised about that committee and what their role is and I was waiting derp I thought when we get it the first of the school year but today we really don't have any more information about that committee and I just have three general things about that to be addressed at some point the first would be what is the mission of that parent advisory committee who's on it I understand the makeup or at least I've heard the makeup is one parent per grade just curious how that works and then also how are those members chose and I heard before that it was about teachers recommending a parent I know there's a lot of parents who would like a forum like that but it's kind of opaque we don't really don't have anything what that committee does or how do you get on it the second thing is I think we're all aware we have some bike riders now at school which is awesome my son is one of them then he is friended of riding since last year most days except when it's brutally hot and it's been fantastic they really enjoy doing it it gets them active they get a little independence which a lot of kids don't get these days however the last couple months both of their bikes have been vandalized and we all kind of I practice my cracks are down here during pickup my son's shifter was wrenched mr.
⚗ AI-reconstructed · cite from original above
Curtis was kind enough to get him going after school but his friend's bike in the last two weeks same thing with the shifter that this time it was broken causing at least $50 worth of damage to it so I think we want all of our kids to be physically active here are two kids that are doing it we love other kids to see other kids doing it but not if they don't have a secure place to put their bikes and right now my understanding is there's a camera on those racks but it's blocked by a tree so you can't really see it so my son just turned 10 he's getting bigger he got a brand new bike we almost don't want him riding at the school right now for fear of the damage that might happen injury just bring that out in public and let everybody know that that's happening and and say that we really would like a secure place for not only our kids but every kid who wants to ride their bike to bring the right to school my name's Luis tamson and this morning I was reading online my newspaper and I was reading about the jarasandha state school board and a speaker there your keynote speaker mr.

neo and I have been following this man and he has been around this country D legitimizing our government our traditions and our culture's MLK wanted to change change things with peaceful resistance he wants to change things with active resistance he is part of the no justice no peace that big fists that you see on TV sometimes that is violent he supports an Tifa which is violent that beats up on journalists that stops actual conservatives from going into schools to speak anybody with a red hat they are a target so that's no justice no peace and also when he said justice over civility even in your restroom you have us a sweet little thing that says be kind be responsible be nice that's civil and if we don't have a civil society we're not going to have any justice there is no justice and it promotes bullies this divisive this promotes bullies and he celebrates bullies and isn't bully something that this board should be concerned about and trying to work again in publicly funded schools we are no longer allowed to use the biblical references about morals and values and what made this country great but yet this man is allowed to speak at a state school board meeting promoting what she's doing and I understand he received quite an applause which makes me wonder where all the critical thinkers are on the school boards across this state so this little taxpayer wasn't real happy when I read this article this morning and I hope no more of my money goes to support people like this thank you the court and our principal has a lot of other exciting things to share after my report so but interesting for you so first of all just update from frankie lymon training we have a webinar on collections for middle school ages English language arts teacher which is our middle for our teachers for our middle school math teachers to provide additional back coursework per student and the car plan that in the next year or two you will be able to offer geometry for high school credit for our eighth graders so now with some of our seventh graders in hopes that we'll be able to offer that for our students so they enter high school qualify to get such evaluations for you along with mr.

Bateman and myself mrs. Fanning and mr. ⚗ AI-reconstructed · cite from original above
Oscar with one of two in Tucson using the attractive metronome so I went to go observe her working with one of our students and it's a phenomenal program so with our textual reference we were able to purchase the interactive metronome and specialty teachers and a community member who has worked with in other states to work with our kids community works for developing have some positive completely ADHD they even use it for adults or for adults traumatic brain injury so we're really excited so I have some habits show me how to see that we will have available in the office once we get going we to report that they're adapting while making friends is too easy too hard or just right like their teachers and they were able to be personally for the first time this year too so we understand that it can be difficult to come to be - okay so we will be happy 15:33 the concerns are of the changes for more to fifth grade so we really want to so we really want to be proactive and kind of have this meeting so that and there's a little cult there that it's not the little that breaks you down it's the way you carry it so we're all working at making sure that were enforcing our four lap needs the love and belonging the achievement that's truly the Bluebird attendance but national thank-you letter they have condensable as you know last year we did of the largest person and so this year we want to produce the largest animal attractions at that letter mailed out so so we are going to be doing some extra efforts between now and November for students to write letters to their grandparents we just had ground early last weekend so we want kids to write better led to their family members to the community members to teachers national West driver gays so we want kids to write letters to the drivers so that we can prepare for another you bet so forth - service that they mentioned before that we would do report on what our climate surveys to the play so for this year this past school year weekend staff members respond we had parents 1600 students who have 81 responses I'm sorry and we had a hundred students and 32 staff response so 85% of the staff indicated that teachers have to say 46% of staff indicated students are not motivated to get good grades or that they work harder to receive good grades 81% indicated they fit all our school states and the golden ones were things that we spoke about as a leadership team and at and it provided energy and money so as an administrative team we're really making a conscious effort to undo a better job so obviously we definitely want to be a 90% student climate surveys 82% of the students indicated that they're satisfied with their teachers to learn how high expectations and celebrate their success 73% indicate they work hard to get good grades or challenge themselves so the end user discrepancy between perception so we're going to be having some conversations a 2% of the students indicate very mean is a high priority in our school 74% that stop and that there were many adults to go to for help also all that we need percent everybody that we dealt with it and 78% Kazuki on the parent Climate Survey they're children to learn 42% indicate teachers contact them if their child is having academic problems because we're going to really work at as respected by administration and office staff 75% indicate they are respected by ministration and administration 7% of their child for future and that technology is like today corner so that information continuation and transcendency recently two percent if you take their child lotion 83% indicate those welcome to volunteers with full and Dovie importance of volunteering at 73% indicate above average to average quality of education so we talked about the time our theme this year is getting the game team together everyone achieves more but it's getting the game and how do we encourage everyone get'em also have a game plan so administration is committed to conducting walkthroughs regularly and providing feedback two eight three lesson plans and standards are being posted some feedback with regular conversations so teachers are not posting their lesson plan inside their door so that walking that what 250 GM was done and we're he first to understand life step includes curriculum implementation that we've also had teachers support them into to get your partner support their child so we don't want it to be a surprise at the end of the corner so at the party half weeks you'll know what the other benchmark assessment reports will already to them we are working [Music] I betcha so the server we did talk about that at length at our board retreat how do we get more parents to respond we try to offer incentives to kids if your parents billing out my Suri opendoc colony for parents to waste concerns in a tiny matter we really do not want parents to bill that they have to wait till the end of the school year to fill out a survey to give us feedback and to come questions our school meeting minutes we'll share them to do with all staff late attorney that's something that we're doing in-house because we have different for me and in teachers are sitting on that community sometimes they're not really sure a Child Support Committee we have a Technology Committee so we're doing a better job at all our school counselor will be addressing bullying concerns and teaching particular to problem solving Oh we do have a binder in the optics that had last year and this year's kind of surveys so you like [Music] there's a lot of questions but you're welcome to come to school the binder and the responses for parents students and staff are about all right good evening everybody I don't know if I've met everyone but I'm Deanna Blas the principal this year I look forward to getting to know you and working with all of you that school you so I'm gonna start with testing benchmark testing miss recoded already discussed a little bit about it right now the students are in the process of taking Galileo testing it began last Wednesday and Thursday for our middle school students is we can have testing for second through fifth graders and it's taking place throughout this whole beam it's a pretest so this first benchmark test is a pretest which is a baseline test it is an end-of-the-year test with all of the standards for the grade level so it's a progression that where you be able to study and speed throughout the year each time they take it it is it serves up that baseline but what's very important about this test is that it gives us data that will help us provide interventions to individual students and enrichment as being they're progressing so we can catch regression and we can can support progression and we are getting ready to get the IDS for you guys to login for the prints to login so that you can also see it throughout the school here as well we have meetings and I'd love to stay and chat with you about it if you have any questions throughout the year publish reports were sent home on Friday and this year as Miss Reiko mentioned the publish reports will be sent home every four and a half weeks each quarter teacher conferences will take place this month on September 19th and 20th this is a time for teachers to go over grades assignments and important data it's a time really though for everybody to come in and not so much as conference but see the success and the work that the students have accomplished to come and celebrate their successes see their words see everything that's up
