Surran and I learned of this we thought hey this would be a great idea to bring Sophia here and hear her tell me her story was remarkable and I just said Sophia let the board have and let him know your experience I'm good evening and thank you guys so much for inviting me I would just like to say ever since I stepped foot in the doors of the Central School District from preview as a kindergartner even being a senior now at Central High School the environment has been so welcoming so encouraging and has allowed me to really I think create a sense of confidence for myself and so at my program at Girls State I was able to have a defining moment I think that throughout children's years they have these sort of defining moments that are a way for them to get an outlet to who they are and so for me standing up and giving my speech to my peers was a defining moment for myself and so I think that our district creates such talented human beings that are destined for prosperity in their own lives and so I think that if we're able to push more girls to go to this program and elect more strong young women to be sent to EIU and have the same experience that I did that we could create a much better environment and put ourselves on the map in the simplest words so I just want to say thank you so much to the board and also to mr.

Bonilla mr. Schmidt the social studies department at Central High School for really cultivating that environment for myself what are some of your duties that you'll have to protect this year as the stake of her Oh some of my duties over the summer where that I spoke at conventions and put my message my experience from girls state out there and then also through presiding over the program I'll be at first or putting out my own initiative for example this year's was the environment and saving endangered species so around January I'll be able to pick my own initiative and push that forth in the program excellent yeah [Applause] thank you for you [Applause] alright this time we'd like to welcome any public comment on to our action reports second to discuss an agenda in your board packet you revenue and sport you wait I got to point out yes now occur the board not sex why not sleeeeep other you up from your bath on Bourbon you you're getting you they're also policy updates that we're bringing to the board and reviewing and updating policy from press which we subscribe to any policy updates the ones that are being recommended through the Illinois Association of school boards and press which is comprised of attorneys that represent the various school across the state including our law firm that the board uses so those language recommendations are there one of the policies we held back to later on because it involves intergovernmental agreements we're going to approve some of those agreements we have to approve those agreements before if um you'd like any policy removed for additional discussion you remove from the consent you yes ocean and second are needed to discuss an improvement I was in nineteen to twenty budget has been displayed at district since the have it on the presentation but tonight answers I know budget after it by the 30th xxx days of adoption pilot with the thirty-first laughter Abid it'll be in the County Clerk you revenues that hedge yes be um all activity starting with your FY 20 excessive my word on the guidance sir see that I just put Avenue okay like you'll see you I'm new account you every time analyze but we you asure side I kind of or a lot of the I'd fun to put out by high school or so our life ease very first I just paste between you or of them why you I'm more a childhood but regular ounce you yeah you step forth famous the actual you and then same thing for this slide nothing changed here there's no better estimate and lastly just an estimate based on our projections this slide same no changes this slide I changed just a little tiny bit in Eden O&M funds based on the expenditures like it was 76% went to seventy seven point seven it was slightly so you can just still see that's all mostly in the I fund but otherwise just maybe four cents of change it's not there so this slide kind of shows you where it landed revenues versus expenditures and where the difference was the top three at OEM and transportation that all changed the rest did not change and that's just literally from the other slides that wherever the expenditures and the revenues were adjusted this is the new net amount and then this last slide reflects those revenue changes in the middle column revenue and expenditure so you have those new net amounts in there and where the ending fund balance is going to land based on our estimates and then I did have a little not all of the fund balances for the seven one unaudited I do know there are some definite journal entries that are going to be made so I did change those just to have a little bit more accurate fund balances but there still are knotted numbers thank you say whatever questions yes yes yes our motion and second are needed to discuss and approve an overnight trip that will allow our Future Farmers of America organization to attend the National FFA convention Wednesday October 30th 2019 the Saturday November 2nd 2019 in Indianapolis Indiana we have mr.
Krabs because I'm really greedy I would be Squidward because I got a really big nose it's Cod if I was to be a spongebob character I'd be bubble buddy if I were to be a spongebob character I'd be Gary Larry the lobster plankton I would be Patrick because people call me ditzy and dumb I would be the guy that screams my leg I would be the Flying Dutchman because he's the most outrageous character if I were a spongebob character I would be Doodlebops mijo mijo mijo if I was a spongebob character I'd be squilliam fancy-son because I got it like that doodle bob cuz I was King Kong I would be so many bananas I'll be Larry the lobster I would be Karen I would be the hash-slinging slasher I would be Nosferatu I'm about to be and I'm about to be on Good Morning America hi mom you don't touch me homie all right mom well that about those are for this week thanks for watching I'm Jared and I'm Jake and we'll see you next time on cat TV news [Music] you
Robinson with us so by him forward to talk a little bit about the event yes so as you can see in your packets we're going to National Convention just like what we have been proposing to do and all previous year's this year's convention we have kind of a unique circumstance we're going to be competing in the national competition that's called the model of excellence chapter so essentially what they've done is they've ranked all 8006 earned some odd chapters in the country and we are in the top ten and so they've asked the top ten chapters from all different states to present basically a fifteen minute presentation that will be competing in and will be ranked somewhere hopefully number one right but somewhere in the top ten at Convention so that's kind of the only change from years past we've done some of these competitions at the national level before but this will be one that doesn't obviously happen every year so that's does this mean that we beat out the other FFA chapters in Illinois so there is a second FFA chapter it's in normal they call it the normal FFA chapter in Bloomington Normal School District and they that are also in the top ten we're going to beat them though so I so we actually beat him at the state level I would anticipate them beating a having us beat them at the national level too but there's other schools like there's a school from New Orleans that's the punch of truly FFA chapter they're in it is well there's a school from Missouri in Ohio so we have quite a diverse group that we're going up against but that's kind of the change from years past as far as conventions go that will require us to actually head down a little earlier just because the competition starts actually Tuesday night and then we'll go into Wednesday morning the rest of our FFA chapter will actually go as planned on Wednesday morning so that's kind of the only the only change that you see coming in your packets in years past we've stayed at a hotel that's about 15 miles outside this the city this year we're staying downtown just to kind of help alleviate some of the transportation issues with our team that's going to be competing so actually yeah this is a directed presentation like everybody does the same thing so essentially whatever you want yeah we can I mean how the actual program works and hopefully we'll have some of the students here to be recognized in upcoming meetings they essentially take our activities that we've done we've submit an application we pick some of our nine best activities that are in the area of growing leaders building communities and strengthening agriculture and we pick our best activities that we've done we write an application about it kind of set some goals talk a little bit about you know the opportunities part of that activity and then they rank us and then from there we present a presentation where we have three speakers and an alternate that would get to go and kind of deliver a dynamic speech about our activities in our chapter it's 15 minutes long and then they asked 15 minutes of question so total of a 30 minute presentation and they supposed to know the activities inside and now they want to make sure that it's student-led and the students were you know responsible for the activities doing that so that's kind of a little bit about the the contest and then from there that's where they make the rankings who's the video game plan I was going to say no Garth Brooks this year but we do have Old Dominion is one of the the country singers that's going to be coming and they have some keynote speakers one nine now so and dr.
monoghan earlier that this is the third largest national convention is the largest student convention in the country and they have the large college and career fair there as well - so students will be able to take part in workshops keynote speakers obviously that the competition we're doing but also there's some entertainment concerts one night and then the college and career fair so there's a lot of opportunities that students can take part in and be able to kind of bring back with them and hopefully kind of use those skills that they gained there - convention yeah they might yeah so I think the Garth Brooks is more for the teachers last year right and the other change to was it was that Conseco Fieldhouse we've gotten so large of a convention now we moved to Lucas Oil Stadium so that's where all the activities are this year they're estimating around 80,000 students probably close to 20,000 FFA advisers and parents and chaperones and whatnot that are going so will be a lot of people to convention so all 50 states and three territories to provision it is so I didn't know if you guys had any other questions for me about the trip or not that's all senses like dreams okay how's the relation again okay all right well thank you thank you yes yes yes yes we need a motion that second to a point Jenny Gardner as a student activity fun treasure district 19 to 20 I'm miss Gardner is a new athletic office administrative assistant second so miss Gardner is replacing miss McMahon who took over the registrar's position which means that upon this approval business manager flug will be getting signature cards to update for all the board members as well correct questions yes yes our motion and second are needed to discuss an approval veterinary science affiliation agreement that will provide clinical opportunities for our students these externships are required for students to earn their veterinary assistant certification upon passing their example including zaman motion [Laughter] great yes yes yes yes yes motion second I need to discuss and approve this policy update outside of the consent agenda since it contains the veterinary science affiliation agreements that were retrieved in a previous motion some of us and as we continue to add veterinary clinics we will not bring this policy back every month for Rhea prove 'el will probably do it either twice a year once a year around this time just to update at all the questions yes yes yes I'll move on to information items we have some committee reports start CCC first one of the year was today we started off bringing a few new members across the district and then we started off with course name changes from kelly green who's fantastic there is a couple like a web design change and intro duction to programming and those name changes came as a prerequisite and a great level along with just the name course change then we also it was also to improve the pathway our pathway tip for mobile maker as week so they're doing a great job changing and making things so the students are ready to go the there is also an honors chemistry class that kind of comes right after an honors biology class that was put into play this past year so they're getting ready for that so those honors biology kids can have an honors chemistry class there was also a couple classes with resistance training resistance training too and lifelong fitness and walking for wellness and that was partially due to our lovely new facilities that they want to kind of up and you're not just walking to just walk the track but they actually want to do walking for purpose and kind of add on to things not just a walking around a track thing they want to put more meaning into it main thing what that was the dual so with the dual credit coming which we've talked about in the past they have to we have to make sure we're using college so we're using ACC to get our students dual credit so we have to work with their curriculum so some of these course changes for that to come along with what ECC wanted us or what we need to do in order to follow those guidelines with ECC and so our students can get dual credit um because it was the first mini of the year and there was new members Shane Burke Meyer walked through the review fist to 5:00 for the committee with new members and just reminded the old members that purpose was to reach consensus when we're discussing in the committee make sure there is open communication for everybody everybody's heard you're open to others perspectives and all the opinions are valued so you just make sure you're listening and open-minded and that's how everything is voted on in that that committee is up fist to five we mainly they talked about dates for this upcoming year and upcoming topics where sack the sack committee that we're going to be talking about this year grading practices and standard based comment competency based grading the essa and things that have changed just recently this week yesterday hmm so those are things were going to be discussing and they're in bed dr.
Monken and Shane really wanted to hear what concerns the teachers were feeling that they wanted to talk about this year so there was some conversation some really good conversation that it really seems like they're hoping and ready to talk to it about whatever the teachers feel is important in that committee okay next up is district leadership team we had our first meeting on Tuesday September 3rd well we did move that meeting up because one of the topics was timely topic dealing with eLearning so let's bring the district leadership team started discussing eLearning and it's possible use for emergency closure days a law was passed that would allow elearning days to be used for up to five of those emergency closing days the law was signed into law in July and part of the requirements is that a public hearing had to occur before September 1st so over the course of the summer my conversations with dr.
Mangan we're thinking well because of the time frame we're going to be forced to have to delay implementation for a year or receive guidance from both of various law firms this is B and the roee that for this year only they would provide lenience and the ability to have that public hearing and then have the plan approval so that's just for this year we had a presentation at the district leadership team meeting our instructional coaches that laid out a possible scenario of how a learning days could be met and fulfill the statutory requirements they would look different at the elementary level in the middle school and high school level discussion was using like a blizzard bag and carry home activities for grades k-2 but then for grades 3-5 there would be digital assignments and for middle school in high school they would be using canvas and this is still a work in progress the instructional coaches have been sharing information and we have discussions going on with this with the CEA on how to best implement this so it's our hope that we'll still be in a position but ultimately it's optional correct pardon so if we don't use them we just go it's notice so by the state statute you have to build in 500 NC days into your calendar and then if you have a really head winner or something happens where you have to be closed more than those five days then you have to make up five days and anything after that you can ask the state as as an act of god day they call it and then good petition for that not have to make up days after five so that was the that was the main part of that meeting because of the presentation and discussion of followed with people taking things back to their building upcoming items will be an extra school calendar we're gonna have some discussion about student-led conferences middle school teachers were interested in at least having some discussion about that and then our next steps were social emotional learning and any other discussions and district leadership team we also had an emergency preparedness committee meeting on September 17th it was a great agenda Rebecca jurors or principal facilitated that meeting we talked about we had emergency responders there from Auburn countryside from Burlington Fire we had law enforcement from both Kane County Sheriff and Elgin Police Department one of the things that we discussed in a timely it was a timely issue and that what occurs when there's a fire alarm and a building but conditions outside the building may be a potential risk to students so sometimes a sensor gets dust in it or sometimes a lightning strike could set off an alarm system and in this scenario we talked about a thunderstorm a severe thunderstorm comes through lightning strike or something sets off the sensor you believe that it may be a false alarm emergency responders are coming you're worried about taking students outside and evacuating the building because lightning is falling around the building for safety issues so in speaking with our emergency responders and looking at that of course they would like us whenever we condemn it as safe as possible to exit the building but just like an active shooter situation we're allowed time by the state to assess to make sure what is the safest venue is it is it safer to evacuate the building or is it safe to shelter in place why you check out what's what's actually occurring and they do give us that discretion within reason so basically you cannot plan out for every possible scenario you still have to have discernment and you still have to provide those leadership skills with informed decision-making so that was one of the the topics then we also discussed dealing with with an active intruder type drilling at our school and we do not maybe some of you have heard about Alice training which is very regimented we do not we are not an Alice district however we follow some of the some of the similar protocols what we practice is run hide fight so we're not training like little kids like how to fight off someone where we're at really doing that but we do talk to students about that we talk to staff about that so that they're empowered to make an informed decision if the safest thing that they can do is escape the situation we want them to do that if they can't then we want them to shelter in place and if all else fails we want them to feel empowered that if they have to they can defend themselves so within reason and so that's we talked about that initiative then some district updates if you followed anything with Elgin PD and I know I sent out an email we have something posted on our website we've had a couple of incidences in Providence in shadow Hill the one in shadow Hill seems unrelated to the things that are occurring in Providence where there's a black vehicle which they believe to be a Honda white male who is taking pictures of students we have we did have a student who was able to gain some information about that and met with law enforcement last week so I know that people who live in that area of seeing a larger presence of law enforcement in the neighborhood then the last thing we discussed with security at athletic events or no we discussed a couple more things security at athletic events there was an incident in u46 where the locker rooms were diluted so we talked about our own security and safety of keeping the building's locked down and supervised even during athletic events and then our a IDI training status where all buildings are receiving a refresher and the use of our IEDs and then we also received from the county through a grant a stop bleed kit for all of our ad boxes so we will have a triage kit for those in the event of something like that I don't know if one kit will be sufficient and that was an update on EPC and then any questions on that and then foundation called a foundation of a meeting and September 17th and it's all trivia trivia yes so we've got a registration started on Monday I think we've got ten tables which is very good usually we get ten tables like the week before so very good start to the event so looking forward to it so if you haven't registered you better register maybe we should get some building specific tables and just a competition for you guys that sounds pretty subtle I mean San somebody's got to take down Mike Schmidt again so it's fine no it's going to be a fun event the theme is a Disney theme that it's going to shape up to be a great evening for the first time we chairman of the foundation I made a video so it has not been released yet but kind of a light-hearted video promoting the trivia event hopefully we will be able to see the video tomorrow and be able to push it out so really looking forward to it athletic director diversity would you like to talk a little bit about homecoming so we're just under a week away we kick off Friday with our haul decorating so it's just kind of nice this year we have a home football game Friday so our kids can decorate and then come right out to the game but really all the fun starts you know Monday with you today is a different whacky dress date but since it's a shortened week we kind of I met with all the student government and we kind of shifted things around where Fridays normally are blue and white day where we're gonna kick the week off with you know school pride on day one then day two I believe is our traditional pajama day which the kids enjoy and I'm kind of looking forward to Wednesday because it's stressing their theme and it's classic TV shows so we're going back to Brady Bunch friends you know some of the other kind of interesting dress and then Thursday be in a half a day that's when we're just gonna do our our assembly really kind of student-led this year with our activities so it's kind of interesting to see this group of seniors bringing back some games that they did as freshmen they really enjoyed so it's gonna be a fun event and then you know Friday's the football game and then course we rounded off Saturday with the dance I didn't flood the hoop sorry I didn't flood the itinerary with all of our athletic events on Saturday because it would have carried into a whole nother page so I just kind of we get to Friday we take a deep breath and then we recuperate for the dance on Saturday but I think it's gonna be a fun week a lot of people have asked why a short week and it's what the kids wanted they wanted homecoming against Hampshire since we haven't played them for a year those that have been in the district for a while know that rivalry and it's gaining a lot of steam I think it's gonna be a huge crowd and a fun event so homecoming they'll be here before we know it and you know and Thursday night is our annual powderpuff bonfire so questions about the week all right talk about the requirements of Public Act 97 dish was a law that was passed I don't know maybe five years ago six years ago we're all administrator and teacher salaries and benefits must be posted annually to the website by October 1st of each year and then that's followed by Public Act 97 - 0 609 which is the posting of the irf compensation packages and that would be for anyone earning a salary of more than $75,000 in iron morale so those will be posted to our website recalls do you back up this one yet comfortable okay so back in July I presented to you with some expansion options for athletics and activities and I stated back in July that I was gonna do the interest survey and then I was gonna come back to the board and kind of report how that turned out so for two weeks I kept emailing kids you know getting it in the announcements so we got just under six hundred survey results predominately most of her sophomore kids but just to kind of touch on the things that I presented to you looking at the results boys and girls lacrosse we had forty boys that showed interest fifty three girls which I thought was kind of interesting I figured that number would be flipped but uh there was a you know that's plenty to fill those teams and what I noticed was the track interest numbers didn't go down you know softball numbers didn't go down so those kind of stayed steady to where we were at but the the next floor boys and girls bowling it was like holy cow let me sit back because when I came to mention I'm like I will keep it around fourteen and then I saw forty eight boys and fifty six girls I'm like wow we've never had and we're gonna have to cut if if we really truly get those numbers but you know like I stated back in July that's that's a season where we don't have a lot for kids and we're really touching on that non-traditional non traditional type athlete so I was really impressed with those numbers I think you know I don't know how much we would have to do to promote bowling I think that's gonna have an excitement all on its own I think with the La Crosse and and the build it's a great foundation because when I talk to the 300s and those they had to I can't even think of the word out coop with each other to field one team whereas when I told them what our numbers were they're like that's better than what we started and we had to fools combined together so and yes it's still putting the rubber to the road and getting the things out in the spring so from that side of it very positive results with the athletics getting into the activities putting the survey out it created like a revolving door in the office like hey I want to start this club or I want to where's robotics at so it really promoted a lot of conversation with kids but as you can see 50 students for robotics I mean that's more than what you need to start it but it's we're not so we would never away we would figure out how do you get them all involved some way somehow debate came in at forty three kids well you want to keep that around 20 so now you think okay like more of a varsity JV how do you do do the different types of competition forty eight for bass fishing that's a lot of boats so because you can only usually have like four four kids in a boat press your boating captain so if you keep that many like I said that's a lot of lot of boats out there as well the one I was disappointed in and it's gonna morph into the letter C conversation is chess there was a lot of a lot of interest verbally from kids last year which had led me to put it on there thinking okay it's competitive we could do that through the IHSA but only twenty eight students and from our conversation here in July especially with dr.
Noland asking some of the questions eSports it was it was a topic and we had 72 kids that were interested in that so surprised by that were I was because last year we did it was less than 1% so now that's over 13% of the takers were interested in in eSports so yes maybe on the weekend just search for it yes as far as it's an emerging sport through the IHSA they don't have a grasp on what exactly it's gonna be especially because of the game portion so some of the things you see on TV yes there are athletic type or competition type games I guess they all compete but I think the state wants to stay away from the the shoot-'em-up type games were so I don't know what that means so part of my recommendation would be to I want to remove chess explore the eSports option a little more to be able to answer those questions then come back to you because a Qbert and pac-man & froggin Frogger okay okay kids in my office who play like Super Smash Brothers can do tournaments in this city Northern Illinois has a team you know through the school a lot of stuff was running DeKalb so that's just what I met again is that violence or overwatch is another huge one that is as violence or each of those national leaves in this country where they have la versus Chicago and they air them on television just saw this like two weeks ago in a Saturday afternoon I was flabbergasted you not and when I went to the Fox Valley activities meeting this became a conversation and so everybody there's like three schools that have it but they're just letting them play games there don't really understand yeah but they want to kind of morph this and really kind of take on what the IHSA really well that's well if I was I'm not a really big gambling person but I guarantee you there's a lot of overlap with some of those kids you know so I would think that out of those 28 if it's 50 percent would probably be into the eSports thing so that's where you know I want to service our kids the best that I possibly can and to me looking at those numbers it just didn't make sense to hey let's keep pushing this and then we have enough to run it cuz that's not you know good steward of what we're you know our kids want so you know my recommendation is to go back to you know for you guys next month to approve the boys and girls lacrosse the additional cross-country coach that really wasn't part of the survey as far as that was just more information of what we think we need to provide for our athletes I'd like to for approval robotics debate and bass fishing and then like I said working with the other Fox Valley schools I'd like to obtain more information on eSports and in a few months when we get a grasp on what it is come back and you know try to put that on the table we I think we have time because we're not looking to do any of this until next school year so eSports I think we can even if it's spring time we could get it implemented for next year but I want to make sure we have the right foundation if we're gonna do it you explain your survey a little bit like so yes No so actually uh so it look I broke it down for sports it's broken off fall winter spring and basically I list everything they could possibly do for our individual sports to team sports if it's not listed and then I ask them the next question is find it out here I asked him if if you didn't click any sports up above why and there's a whole laundry list of things not offered can't afford it to fee I have to work so I kind of get a gauge of why we don't have kids participating and then I did the same thing for activities so I listed everything that we currently offer then the things I present it to the board and then we have the other so you know I mean we have some write-ins that you know it's one kid that wants you know a Bible study group there was another one that wanted a different version of like a diversity Club but it's just a different more of an ethnic type type clubs so there's a lot of different things I I'd be happy to share the 18 page results I just figured I'd summarize with with the ones there and it's pretty user friendly pretty takes about five minutes to take so it's just I like these sports click you know and believe it or not a lot of our football kids came up three Hey kidding with crosses something I really want to do you know so that was like I said it really promoted a lot of conversation amongst the kids asking the when's the whys are we really gonna get this resolved so when I started pushing it out I sent it to all the students the night before I sent it to all the academic advisory teacher saying hey please remind your kids check your emails the link is in there and then I did this every other day for about two weeks and then you know every time I do the push notification we get another twenty thirty in you know then we sent it out to the parents hey have your kids take the survey get a couple more in so you know it's a lot of our kids I'm finding through the other things we do just don't check their emails on a regular basis so the constant reminder was how cuz usually our results are a lot lower number wise you know I would have been happier trying to get fit 50 percent or more but I mean short of all right everybody here take you know it going room to room it's pretty tough yeah yeah so we have 534 out of the 1,300 ya know it's anonymous yeah so I just see individual results it doesn't tell me who the result came from so I can print them out individually or just in the big pipe I results you know actually I was at ninth grade was 14.8% 10th grade was 41.4 eleven through twenty six and then seniors were 17.8 and a lot of them were like is there any way if this goes now we could put it initial I'm like no you're helping some garnet why is everything happy when we go because that's life so let's come back then is an action item then the ecto version yes that would be and then depending on how you vote will dictate what our next steps are and the planning and implementation yeah I did that in July so we would we would be able to bring back an update I can't post yeah just to kind of look at everything again and what you anticipate so I was trying to find out because my son is part of the Huntley bass fishing team which I found out last week and so did he bring a big fish home is that to buying a very expensive fishing rod and reel and just like it's all Greek poet so you just find a dad who has a boat and then you just get a license through the IHSA and then he's now the boating captain yeah so how do we assess the Aquatic Center we can talk about that later but I would assume that be a boring captain you have to have like yeah marine safety I I'm not sure exactly what the IHSA requires but I know that they would have to go to our yeah they would do our GNC background check all those things just like every other type coach right yeah we can we can flush all that yeah I mean that's all no we would not purchase the both we would rely on our parents who have the fishing boats so I mean we have one in the pond over there now flipped upside down yes Thank You Foundation should buy one the next information item is the enrollment report so looking at last month's amoliant report spending time because some of the questions of board had really Pam Israel send did a lot of digging we work done with Leslie stoner also and to get clean data so every day we push information up to the student information system since so when you're looking at your 28 teen numbers we had to pick a moment in time because we used to use six-day enrollment but few years ago they don't change we don't really they still talk about six-day enrollment but it's really a number that the state doesn't even pull until October so we thought well we're just gonna use October first then we have a consistent number moving forward the numbers above that for this year that data is coming out of our skyward system and why we believe it's very accurate there are some anomalies because we're still entering students that are fully entered and we're still deleting some students who weren't in the system so it's a very very close picture to where we're at right now compared to where we were a year ago so when you when you look at the numbers from last month to this month we're actually up one student at Prairie Knowles middle school when you look at where enrollment is currently - where it was on October 1st in the SIS data or a 93 students so and then as you look at the class progression from last year to this year you can see that those numbers are much closer than where they were comparing last month and so as as we get those cyst numbers coming on in and the skyward data is finalized which is normally right around the beginning of October then you will even have a clearer picture moving for but we will start using the system inside of the skyward dinner because that is what is reported to the state which is pulled from skyward why do we drop so many from our current 8th graders so last year October 1st we have 324 for last year 7th graders this year we only 311 in eighth grade that same seems like it's a statistical anomaly 20 where students lost that's a good question I mean it just 8% where that doesn't think everything else has gone up and we have down 8% in one class just for the group thing but damn it I'm more questioning like is the data wrong because that's a pretty significant drop that's that's significant enough that we'll take a look at it tomorrow and if I need to send out clarification I will from 70 and then are we really back at 108 kindergarten HPG all right right a little bit 5 euros yeah and that's those kindergarten numbers are actually coming in right what we've projected them at I projected that we would be right around 100 kindergarteners in our three largest elementary schools and they're within that that range it's not I'm surprised by lily Lakes kindergarten enrollment 39 students I think the challenge Eric you're speaking to is that so what happens is that we roll all students in and so they stay as registered students for us as we progress from over the summer and we don't know sometimes if a parent doesn't tell us they're not ships like that so they're still in our books and so as we get new students and my you know numbers cross the pressure exactly and then yeah these projected student representatives do exactly and so unfortunately if people then come in at the tenth day and we never see those kids we have to unenroll them which then takes one of us back down but that's why we play really close numbers in terms of we try to get rear ends and seats to know the numbers sometimes you just can't do it against warrior can we get some data on the new 14 home starts and look at any ways to project given that corn and McDonald obviously are our hbt we've got Westfield Gardens as opening up that next new section which is gonna be monstrous and you know we're down 18 students at Prairie View were up to 1 and Lily Lake we're down 18 students that country trails and we're up 48 students at HBT you know obviously what we continue to talk about these options but just in general looking at you know what options we have especially with newer subdivisions if we have the ability to kind of plow I know we never want to talk about that but that's something that we have to talk about it's going to be a discussion looking to put together a presentation potentially for next month's board meeting and then I also attend the Elgin development meetings and I follow up with them they they know if anything there was an article in that Daily Herald today that saying that they're expecting a downturn in the housing market in their region and they they listed Elgin is one of the cities and I made a comment to our office people today I'm like they can publish this but we're not seeing this hit in our numbers but there there was an article just published today in the newspaper saying that they're predicting a downturn in housing but I'll be following up with that last year they projected that New Starts would be similar to the year before but you can see from her current impact the analysis that were already up from this point last year at the Town Hall is you have to remember that the first all the first homes that are starting in the ponds of Stony Creek that first initial build-out is all our district then phase 2 and 3 is all Saint Charles but we're phase 1 so we're gonna get all of phase 1 that's like a hundred and seventeen homes what's the that might be total homes in that oh that's the one at Sturbridge they do there was they also said that all the time about Providence and shadow Hill and that's why we get phone calls every year hey you know what what do you mean our students can enroll on your school well it's because you're in you're 46 they didn't maybe attract do your homework but the developers are putting up you know 301 schools it's hard to read this this might print at 55 miles per hour right but it's something that then we received for foyers send some August the first one was from transportation transportation research are requesting information related or special needs of transportation contracts of to cover the 2019 2020 school year we were able to respond to that FOIA the second floor we received from Central thrown one teacher Cathy Dixon we're preparing to respond with a voluminous requests to ask for reduction but then we were able to respond because we could tie it in with a subpoena that the district received then we received another FOIA from Canon solutions of America where we received a we're requesting information our copier contracts and we were able to respond to that and then the final FOIA came from our central through one teacher Cathy Dixon and that was on requesting information related correspondence on the use of Association and we're able to respond to that request as well so lead emotion second to journal so more executive session yes sorry yes yes yes
