out there and hoping to help everybody I can next up is Nathan Stone who's one person from Dartmouth high school that you'll never forget one person from Dartmouth high school will probably be my freshman year English teacher miss lassie was also a judge might be a little bit of a kiss-up but still true she has really made me into the writer that I am today I was in ap composition or AP comprehension in language with her last year our class gave her a handful but we still had a really fun time and I really feel like she's made me into the man I am today thank you next up we have UN Oliveira if you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go if I could travel anywhere in the world probably go to Portugal mainly because I have a lot of family there and it's just it's that's see my family thank you well up next we have Andrew bana if you could go back in time what year would you travel to if I could go back in time what year would I travel to I would trot probably wow that's a that's a very very good question to stump me on um I would say that I would probably be oh I know Greta tunberg because I'm very with the whole climate change movement I feel very strongly about that I think she's a very big influence on you know the world itself and being so young she's you know not much younger than us and she's doing amazing things for the world you know act uh all that activism for when just awareness for the climate which is ultimately our future so I think if I could have that type of influence on the world I would love to do that thank you those very Chamberlain what is your favorite part of the show and how are you enjoying it you know honestly this is one of my favorite nights of the year here at Dartmouth high school so I was so disappointed when the show was originally going to be canceled because it was too bad that kids can't be here because I feel like it just really makes you feel like you're part of this community and so even though the kids aren't here I'm really happy that we do have people here and then we're in you know we could just feel like all the kids came together to do this even in spite of this crisis we all came together to do this and I just love the feeling that I get from this whole night so thank you all for making it happen how sweet thank you very much miss Lassie to you so my favorite part of the show as someone who's helped to run it before is actually what happens backstage and off-camera something that none of you saw maybe you heard was all the contestants hyping each other up they were like doing this counting dancing jumping craziness but it's so nice to see in this case all gentlemen who come together from different walks of life at school and there is zero hesitation they all become friends through this because none of them can dance well maybe Mason Mason been teased pretty decent but after that we've got a lot of shakiness so they come together on a ground that they know they're not good at and it's the most magical nerdy thing for a teacher to see them forget everything else but this it's the cutest thing it really is thank you very much judges I need to turn you back to our home all righty Curtin please let's give one last round of applause to all of our contestants at this time we would like to present to you the top five contestants in no particular order all righty contestant number one Andrew bono [Applause] contestant number two Camden Lawton contestant number three Ethan with me and contestant number four Nathan Stone and last but not least Travis Tatro again let's get a big round of applause for the contestants that will not be moving on to the final round great job guys at this time we will be asking each of you individually one interview question Ethan we'll start with you if the rest of you will please head to the backstage soundproof area room until you return thank you all righty here we go what is the most significant change you've seen in the world over the past decade and why was it so significant to you good question the most significant change that I've seen the one on the past this decade is probably the influence that social media has on everybody back then not much things were said when something would happen but now literally if something happens within the second it's out whether it's good thing bad thing whatever it is it's could affect someone's life and I think social medias a good thing but lately it's been taken up on the bad road just for that reason thank you next contestant please [Applause] we have Travis Tatro hey trav how you doing my question for you what is the most significant change you've seen in the world over the past decade and why do you believe it was so significant I think is the gun violence I mean there's way too much we need to stop it because it's getting annoying after a while you see like people like saying this and that like I mean come on this is for the u.s.
people for those people in the United States Army not for people that are only five or six that's it Thank You Trevor arey well said next contestant to the stage please next we have Nathan Stone all righty what is the most significant change that you've seen in the world over the past decade and why was it so significant to you Thank You Hannah great question I just want to take a moment to thank the judges for coming out tonight and all the 20 people in the crowd I'd say the most significant change in this decade would have to be the impact of technology and social media it has really taken a toll on a lot of young people's minds and it has caused mental illness to blow up and a lot of suicides have have happened because of that I think that social media can be a very good thing in terms of the speed in which information is spread but I think can also be a bad thing because it can cause people to show a side of himself that isn't always true and it causes them to feel like they need to raise their expectations for themselves when all they need to be is themselves in this world Thank You Nathan next contestant to the stage please we have Camden Lyon how are you Kevin I'm very good thing good I'd like to hear that what is the most significant change you've seen in the world over the past decade and why was it so significant I think that the most significant change you've seen in the world or recently at least is I think we have more recently now taken a lot more awareness to mental health especially in teens I think that you know for a long time probably there's been a lot of like like stigmas about mental health and you know you're not strong enough like they think that you're weak minded but it's a real illness and I think especially around our age like as these teenage years are so so stressful coming with school and like you know the pressure to go to college and all that type of thing and then you know just even the simple like everyday stresses of you know fitting in or you know coming to school like this and you know having friends anything of that type of sort there's a lot of different stresses around there and I think that it's not acknowledged enough but more recently we've taken a big stride towards the right direction in acknowledging that you know preventing suicide there's been songs made about it there's been all kinds of awareness and like mental health even like months or days anything to you know bring light to the fact that everyone or anyone can be dealing with anything that you don't see on a day-to-day basis and Thank You Camden and now our final contestant to the stage please Andrew Bana ladies and gentlemen what is this what is the most significant change you've seen in the world over the past decade and why is it so significant most significant change in the world over the past decade hmm most significant change in the past decade I think in the past decade I've seen first off I've just seen I think drugs and the awareness about drugs and how awful drugs are that has been just increased so much I think awareness about how bad they are and how they can screw up your life and how those are like I think that's really bad and I think the second thing is just positivity I think people are happier I think people are always trying to improve themselves I believe in the world that everyone is working to try and improve themselves every single day and progress daily and I think everyone just is trying to make the world a better place [Applause] while the final scores are being tallied we would like to take this time to thank all of the people who made this night a possibility a special thanks to the parents administrators staff and students who work behind the scenes tonight let's give them a big round of applause we would also like to thank all of you for tuning in at home at work even in the student parking lot and we really appreciate the support tonight at this time we would like to show you a special video of some bloopers and behind-the-scenes making-of Dartmouth's - 2020 [Applause] [Music] at this time we would like to call all of the contestants and their attendance back to the stage let's give one final round of applause for everyone on stage with the top five please stand forward [Applause] we would also like to call up the junior class advisers Miss Taylor and mrs.

no one yes hello yes right yes bro like jazzing yes for me yes okay we need a motion a second to discuss and approve the annual IHSA agreement to allow central 301 access to all i h SI tournaments and sponsor events second there's an annual resolution give a memo in the agreement news work packet hopefully we will be able to have HS events yes yes no one yes yes next emotion and second are needed to discuss and approve the annual agreements perception 301 students their access to the programs offered at the Fox Valley Career Center even though we were really focused on our agreement with northern King County Cooperative um I still serve on the board of directors for Fox Valley vocational we're currently in strategic planning I'm trying to order I should say not just the superintendent's involved they're trying to make the program's there more relevant to see if they can actually lead to like industry recognized credentials because right now that's or so part of it just not sending students there because I feel like last year we said this is last year we did this right if we can revitalize it Jason Pearson is looking in that way as well Jason's superintendent st.
yes yes just focus on me all right don't have visitors and we don't have public comments so we'll move on to action reports the need of motion and second to discuss and approve the consent agenda revenues and expenditures are in your board packet revenues are at forty six point eight nine percent compared to forty point six five a year ago expenditures are at fifty to sixty eight [Music] we met our debt service fund so we're going to start putting everything into the capital projects wrong from those payables typical for March nothing outstanding in there and then as part of the data the Illinois grant accountability transparency Act those renewals and assurances that need board dr.
Charles would also have access to murder cane so basically my message to Kent County Career Center is that they need to adapt or come here relevant so they need to add they have a good problem but the programs don't have the meat that they need to get the proper certification eventually I've talked to dr. Mannion about this but it may be something that we cannot achieve I I could see where you could have even a larger scale regional program where we have access to both North and the South but I don't know if it will be able to be accomplished it's not like this costs us money because we only get charged for students in the program this allows me access to stand the board and it does cost us more per student though because of the numbers right what do we do have once - yes right now I don't I think we've limited out the number of students that we have attending there Nolan yes hello yes yes our motion and second are needed to discuss and approve the resolution authorizing land Cashner governmental agreement along the application through withdrawal of funds dr.
Stearn his name is on all of them but then there's like a secondary signer on a lot so I've updated that form as well as to who is authorized to sign those assurances the questions for Damon Janson yes no one yes Kedar yes right yes right yes emotions second are required sorry to approve the dismissal of part-time teachers so part of the annual review of any evaluation of staff and release of staff requires that within 45 days at the end of the school year by calendar days that we have a resolution in front of the board so first a missile dismissal of part-time teachers the resolution is in front of you within the part-time teachers in section 1 you can see the number of part-time teachers we have within our district we have Lisa Blake Jamie Galliard Jason Kalani AK Joanne vulner Amy rotor Rebecca fair Lindsey compazine Oh Christine Gatto Heckman Cynthia Lacasse Jordan historic Kathleen Shields Mary Beth Wagner Rebecca Doolin Sandra Harare Megan McGee Nicole rash and Kathryn Taylor may these positions will return next year as part-time employees some won't and so basically have to by law dismiss some and then we'll post the positions and then for many of these employees they'll be hired right back so we just for anyone who's doing remember we always dismiss our part-time staff all of them and then we bring them back as we know that we need them any questions Nolan yes hello yes great yes Brown Johnson Foreman yes motion and second are needed to discuss and approve the dismissal of to probationary teachers back in for this one it's actually one non-tenured teacher instead of - sorry I need to update that we received a letter resignation prior to the board meetings we remove that person off of the probationary teacher list so at this time this resolution is to release Kristin Pyrrha physical education teacher at Central High School from employment free district 301 has that been discussed in closed session for you know to come along with our personnel report and closed sessions for any questions we do have a motion of searching you can change the motion if you want get the Bourdon we'd like you to submit to have conversation we can we can hold it we could go it has to be quick or we closed session well there is a legal requirement that it must come in front of the Board of Education 45 days prior past a history within the district is that we were in the resolution forward we said administrative recommendations to the Board of Education and so this is our standard practice otherwise we would have to notify employees in February and then they would have to maintain from February to the end of the year March is already very early for employees to learn that they're being dismissed from their employment must continue to be professional to me if we back that up where you would like it to come forward a month earlier we'd be pushing this into a February for meetings I'm sorry I wasn't clear I was wondering if we should change the motion since we got a motion to dismiss - oh I'm sorry alright so we get an amended motion to approve the dismissal one probation any further questions yeah I mean the actual resolution here does this does say right I don't wanted picky but it says has received and reviewed information of course the recommendations from administrative stuff which I'm gonna call performs the teachers and we haven't I mean just to be clear all that they generally speaking we just bring the recommendation in front of the board but what is it the board would like to see I don't know we don't know we don't know but the fact is this is not good I mean if you if you feel more comfortable we could we could adjourn into closed session right now to discuss your concern and then we could come out of closed session and an act on it but it's still part of the action report I mean might but the only point I'm making I'd actually don't have a consent I don't know if there is a concern I'm sure it's all a case does he says here that we have received information we haven't done so I want to make sure that what we're voting on is accurate so would you like to go into closed session I'd like to make a motion that we go there that we table this motion pending what we could do is we can make a motion to table this then we could make a motion to go into closed session and discuss then we'd come back out of closed session then we would act on this action we've done B also have any objections or fools about that I mean we can do that they're reporting your thoughts I'm gonna do that well I continue so I guess the question I would have is is there a way to amend the resolution yeah we can this came from legal counsel oh so we got we get this from the legal counsel I would have to ask legal counsel about because history in the action report it's part of what has to go in the action report I'm found with voting or if we go to closed session for five seconds notice say we reviewed information so now if that's what we feel comfort with so could we just table this and have a resolution have a motion to go too close to this pretty clearly what we can do let's just do that then yeah so do we have to kick everyone out then yes then we got to record something else your report all right so we need a motion second to dismiss and open session and go into closed session about a second okay the table oh how about a motion the second quintic this exercise you can do Knoll and get it together yeah yeah we'll Singlish call the table exit' open and close to return to old the session yet okay we both need a vote first to dismiss don't we all in favor aye yeah we got this
Stearn can you expand on this little later give us a little more detail I will defer hope we have moisture second okay I will refer to Dana flu who is working so the county of Cain had had given out school districts in King County money that they were holding on to for land cash over the years we're the last school district that hasn't cashed out we have three thousand one hundred seventy five dollars sitting there it was for a Sunset Hill subdivision off of Burlington Road it was to lats so this there's a resolution an application for withdrawal of funds basically to start the process to get that three thousand dollars into our accounts to be used for the kids would go to lily Lake so we'll just use it for some building improvements for Lily Lake going forward whenever a builder goes to build and they need a permit they're going to cut certified checks to the school district that King County will just hold on to until it's all approved and once it's approved they'll just mail us the check direct so we get our money faster but this is this could take almost like three or four months to get through all King County's paperwork's and stuff so I won't see it probably this year but we were the last one so this there's three of resolution and a intergovernmental agreement form and application both a drop to sign and then we can put closure to it Thanks from Johnson no one yes yes yes Foreman yes the emotion in second the Memorandum of Understanding with the King County sure regarding the notification of exposure to trauma so moved so um I was contacted by sheriff Haines he's actually been a very good partner with the school district I've been very impressed with his leadership his communication this was an initiative that the Sheriff Department worked with in Westover a school district initially and they wanted to reach out to some of their other partners and talking with Cape Vincent we thought it would be something nice to have so how this would work is if there's a police call to a residence that has students that attend our school and whether it's a disturbance or some type of trauma or something that affects that family the night shift supervisor will send an email then to our student service staff that basically doesn't give any details but what I will say is handle with care the child's name the approximate age of this child and the school attendant if known and the approximate time of the event and that's not for us to ask the child what happened but more just to keep an eye on the child in case they're under or some type of distress during the day so in talking with our other emergency King County emergency management team people I think it's going to be I think it's something good we would be the second school district then King County to it out it sounds good gansan yes yes yes great yes bro yes alright on the information I didn't go over too many reports well CCC and Foundation were cancelled due to the recent outbreak on to the Aces results so as many of you aware Andrea Kyle was a staple here for us with the Y steam high steam was kind of taken down and we've revamped for EIU took it over as the Aces team and Kelly stoner took on the task of being her partner and last couple of years to learn the ropes she was very proud this year because she got a first place finish and Andrea finished with a 2nd place so she did call her and poke at our tent but say hey yeah one last year so she was very pleased she had an overall first place finish they'll be moving to state if it runs on April 22nd so we'll see how it goes at Eastern University you can see the list of medalists that we have for them so we had our really well represented and a really exciting adventure there with Kelly's daughter so she was very very excited for her team so kudos to her for a first place relations great educators nominated for awards so we currently have two educators they're been nominated for awards mr.
Scott parola who had mentioned before who's a math teacher at CMS he's in the early educator career category so it's unlikely that he'll win the overall Kent County educator of the year because he's just young in his career but he's a he is a phenomenal teacher he engages the students in in many ways I know he's one of those people that it was a pleasure to write a letter for dr. Mangan and I am hold him in respect and then Rebecca Jersey actually reached out to me and said you know it's for whatever reason no one ever seems to want to nominate an administrator and Rebecca is evolved with the Elgin YWCA and there are YW say women's leaders award and she said she could not think of a more deserving female leader in our area and education than dr. Lanyon and then I said well good that I supported the thing about the thing about dr.
Banion is that she'd be the first to say it's not me it's all the people I work with I told her you know they're gonna have a big lunch in and stuff it and may will have to get a table just like for your leadership and education and I mean you won't say it about yourself but I will that you're highly respected up and down the county for your educational leadership and knowledge and then I'll shake your hand that you're embarrassed best wishes to you and achieving that award it would be in mail send out information of the board I believe it's May 14th all right and we have an update on the 2020 food service kitchen equipment grant you know I was going to help in morinda sure this great news with you but since I told her to stay home I will ask Dana because Dana worked closely with Pam to make this possible on Monday March 9th we received the email that we were awarded the $1500 for the Central High School salad bar pam emailed the person that it has to come in and do the audit so there's two different weeks to choose from one was during our spring break and one is some middle of April so once she gets all of King County's people in then she's gonna start scheduling dates to come take a peek at it we'll get it rolling exactly to be put off with the know I mean we still may make it cuz we're in April not the May date but I appreciate your wishful thinking we're ready to go we just need this audit so we get approved so we can get the stuff though so they can enter the building is untrue because the administrators we could yep but no that's awesome I'm glad you guys did that exciting for the students and staff be good for her kids we're gonna hop back up to a five - really quick for that we skipped you for the Aces results starters a fool yeah you reply well I was planning to update the board on what we would do in the event of a school closure so the state kind of jumped the gun on us and this one I shared with you the Illinois Department of Public Health a daily announcement the siren report I received yesterday we're at ninety two cases were at a hundred and five cases right now from the reports I'm receiving but not confirmed there's still only three cases in Kent County then I've also shared with you an executive order that came through late this afternoon from the governor and this will be amended because in this executive order he was cancelling or postponement of in-person events that consist of 50 people or more but now based on the president's recommendation I think they will reevaluate and he will most likely issue new guidance what would be most interesting to the board is a section six on the last page and on our conference call this weekend with the superintendent's we spend some time saying well if they're limiting public gatherings how do we do meetings and still being compliance with the Open Meetings Act and so relief has been granted and you can see there that we we will not be required to be physically present for a board meeting at this time and that we could have remote participation and public bodies are encouraged to put postponed consideration of public business when possible so just focus on your action items and keep your meetings brief that you can enter in by video audio or telephonic access and then if possible you want to make sure that members of the public can monitor the meeting or listen into the meeting if you have that capability they leave it fairly broad because many districts have the ability to make that happen but there's also many districts in the state of Illinois where they cannot make that happen so I've had a couple board members say so what happened because it looked like you know what you pushed out Friday and then there were some changes well it was fluid like we literally worked non-stop all weekend literally we worked non-stop all weekend so on Friday we knew we were going to be closed so we were gonna have all staff report today for training to lunch he learning your learning platform then over the weekend and talking with our legal counsel on Saturday were preparing for different things that we had different events there were different groups that were meeting in Springfield on Saturday and we had Tony Sanders from u46 representing King County and we had a large document from Loudoun we were putting questions in Cindy de Kola contacted us and said there was case law and I shared this with the other King County superintendents there was case law that during an act of God closure you can make the day up so if it's an act of that closure if you require someone to work to make the day up you must pay them and my take originally on that was well okay we're paying them anyway so we're just asking them to teach remotely because they're being paid she goes no you don't understand if it's an act of God day if you cannot require someone to work so you're going to be paying them to the contract so if you if you Todd Stern say you must deliver you must deliver this remote instruction then you must give them double you have to pay in their per diem so then so then dr.
