at the central office and we'll have dinner served what's really nice about this is part of our cave membership and part of our contract with the attorney both of these are free of charge there's there's no extra cost for these it's part of our contracts and our agreements with them so I'm really excited about that and getting started and right on the fast-track with our new board membership because on December 6 which I likely their first board meeting the new members will be discussing the budget for 1819 so that my proposal will be there so it is right away we just started school and we're talking about next year already I mean it's amazing we do this every year and that is all I have I don't know if anybody has any questions or any questions for dr. Birol [Laughter] all right thank you very much thanks for spelling all right subcommittee reports first we have communications communications subcommittee met on October 2nd it was fairly brief meeting we did discuss the budget round table which is going to be held at 6:00 p.m.

directly before our next board meeting on the 15th of November and discussed um how we wanted to get out the word and exactly what you know what our aim was for that and really we are just very interested in community input as to what they think the budget priorities should be and so we encourage everyone to come to that and we will also be continuing to send out information and reminders about it piggybacking on that we discussed further aboard communication to the public it has improved greatly there's always room for improvement and we are just trying to find the best ways that we can effectively communicate what is happening with the board what the issues are with the board to the community to the public to the parents to that extent we wanted to take our Facebook page to the next step you know right now we wanted to put information about our meetings if there are students maybe even supporting material with us and unfortunately where we in there see the page there is put that is we can spend all day and everyone is that is administrators Facebook page has a job and a half all right so we're gonna be meeting we the best forest NNN almost be for the next group on unless to to bring peace and in the right I think they wrap so the [Music] we begin running some Merrill's hopefully all will go to work interesting because we well the the technical reactive 35000 give everything yeah yeah then I and then you know what we really in terms of so so that was surprising again it is something there's presumably we there's again we're gonna maintain yeah however schools [Music] where money how much money for manicure I think Paul's most of those long are active believe me there's the plan using the cost of the purpose for which they raised the beginning very careful okay any ball okay we last meeting reason for that is we're working in collaboration with the board and the board to move toward a more transparent to see the community and actually the the world of - as you know the board education I was asked me to go and - and meeting with our came up with we're we might have the money available right now and my step is from her and I will be able to go to there and then the other I will invite all members to go with me and we will be doing a presentation to the workmen asking them for the elevation in demonic if they then right and if not it is so so so in their ability and then they would tell me what is with the town and so that and the the day after that and clarification purposes this sunny that now overview the last time this and that is what no but um so I understand that we have a very looming budget into sort of hanging over our heads but I'm saying but this is if not - so did you like any ideas gonna come back because beyond that I feel like we should be waiting to - she says she to me within Oh analysts just because not only is the education in holding out the town you know setting - so she's got the whole town to worry about with meeting daily and trying to figure out what they're going to do as well as our whole team is so I'm yeah you know if she gets back to me Monday she gets back to me Monday i mister dunne said he was she brought up his thought and just as a clarity of thought was was they have just happened to be that moment they've been doing a capital review of existing projects and they had identified a number of existing projects that we had under run this can be construed within the general rural capital right and which is a town responsibility so one of the this I didn't want to have a big debate with mr.

Jaffe but this happens to be in that gray area between the town and the schools and who is responsible for the spend she said from the preliminary review she saw a number of projects that they thought they had under run and they could read since it's already appropriated money with appropriate or to select an abortive finance approvals they could read you know gather that money up and use it to fund this project it takes some approvals to get through one thing if they can do that she had to finish the work and mr. Dunn turned door and said we have a special meeting of the Board of Selectmen in about ten days I would like that on that again so he's given her a deadline that's tied into a special meeting of the Board of Selectmen which is right in front of us I don't have a date yet as like a last sort of statement because regardless I won't be at the next board meeting I just learned so no you know it's if you no matter what happens I don't think right you know I think whoever wins the the two years spot raised that we were talking about whoever wins the to your seat will automatically be there at let me let me but anyway whoever wins out would take office lilac meeting you win a spot I want you to come to the next meeting yeah I'll be here good luck but thank you here but I will I don't know if I'll beat ya I won't be able to vote so Mabel bump up we would if you win and you have a seat even though there's that funny yeah yeah we'd have you well thank you but anyways I would I would I would hope that if by the next meeting there isn't some definite you know allocation from the town that the board would be prepared to to move on on finding that within our own budget so this is sure that the Board of Selectmen doesn't find the magic the magic solution let's get it on our next agenda okay oh definitely and it's it's a priority for me personally right as I went through the schools and they look the same to me is back I mean they have the same clock in whiskey NER middle school as when I was five years old and why they're so it's a priority definitely but thank you thanks okay any further discussion Thank You Rosa that's it pushing that is right okay consent agenda recommend a motion that the board approve the items on the consent agenda is recommended Steve Steve Eve's got the second all right so there's not very many items on the on the consent agenda any comments on that I actually do questions just regarding September financials and I know probably kind of had alluded to it or maybe it was at the weekend update that we were a little bit of an overrun but I just had questions in regards to some of these supplies and tuition ones that are already like two hundred fifty six percent news is that for a new year or I mean is that we've used that amount just in the two months we've been in session or is that what we've used through the entire year that's page three but there's others like the tuition that's one hundred and fifty three and yes just several of them that are kind of really over already yeah that's a combination of what we've spent so far this fiscal year and what we anticipate to spend through the rest of the fiscal year okay so it's not just what is spent going through yeah actually if you look at the report there's a lot a column calling ENC slash barbecue that's encumbrances and if you look at just take that line item on the supplies that I see the 256 you mentioned if we'd spent it was budgeted for nineteen we spent two and there's an encumbrance for forty seven we saw that in the BNF committee and that's going to go back and look at why are we so encumbered there okay and so that's not one of the comebacks we have the encumbrances seem to be a little high in some of those and you'll see there's a lot of large dollar encumbrances on those big dollar items that looked a little odd to us okay big yeah they did when I was looking at it earlier as well it's up that's what we're trying to get this report in a format where it's a little bit more viewer friendly okay any other questions all in favor the consent agenda right so that's the the core but move on to some new business today we have two items on new business this week one is the district enrollment report just recommended action that the board receive a district and Roman port from superintendent dr.

John Barrow all right over to you so this is a traditional annual report this covers the last four years which includes October 1 of 2017 every October 1st we do a run all districts in the state do this and we look at our enrollment and then we use this October 1 enrollment as kind of the foundation of our budget discussions going forward you know enrollment affects everything we do great level enrollment what schedules are going to look like class sections in each grade all these kinds of things a lot of implications with enrollment so if you turn to the second page the the memo explains everything it's very brief mental it explains everything but really where people are you know usually interested in is the second page which shows our preschool all the way through grade 12 and it's a comparison over the last four years so October 1 of 14 of 15 of 16 and this current year the last column has a delta for 16 to 17 and what it does is it goes down and it shows whether a grade level has increased from last year to this year or decreased in total our enrollment last year at as of October 1 was 2700 this year 2636 so a difference of 64 less students this year and that's right around our projection around I think around 26 50 if I recall I'd have to go back to look at our projections from our budget projections motors are right around there and you can see in addition to that our special education students identified with special needs is holding steady up one from last year to 356 students our total English language learners continues to increase from eighty five students last year to ninety six students this year and free and reduced lunch continues to increase as it has each of the last four years from two hundred and sixty five students last year to two hundred and seventy eight identified students thirteen more students that's the enrollment report it's pretty straightforward amazing questions or any observations they'd like to ask just just one the 217 it 2000 or excuse me our pre-k from 16 to 17 we had a significant increase but yet in kindergarten we had a significant decrease just the the students who are in pre-k not all of them attend our kindergarten so and a lot of families what you'll notice is some different variances and you can't just the year-to-year see there's a lot of movement in the younger grades yes in fifth grade over the last three years it's going down by ten and then by 2022 students into you and we and we remember we plan for a reduction in section this past year and so that worked out we're right at our target numbers were in that nineteen range I will let you know interestingly right after we ran this report two weeks ago last week at huckleberry mrs.

diamond reported to us there are five new students registered at the school so these numbers already have had a swing of five it's a moving target as you all know it's a good question for you because you know first girls had a lot of building especially of apartments and condominiums some new homes are you seeing any change in trends in terms of the number of transfer ends looked at I asked Denise Walsh who runs our power school database I asked her to run a 3-year report so this this year in the previous two and she looks at the transit the transfers in is what she calls it and I have it in front of me here from August through September so she did it for October 1 and she ran those last two months there really is the numbers there's no pattern to them some grade levels are up from 15 to 16 and then down 16 to 17 others are up all three years some are down all three years there's no rhyme or reason no one no one no significant pose no significant pattern the only thing if I'm stretching to get a pattern the only thing I saw was year to year so from last year to this year in Greece I want mention of the regular from fifth grade to 11th grade there was increases of at maximum six students integrate to a minimum of one student integrate those were just consistently in a row the earlier grades were up and down so there really wasn't anything I could I can hang my hat wait when you see a big trend you know what building going in you watch for that well and the one thing that we we haven't we the the Moloney McBroom information that was talked about earlier is older demographic information now and the kindergarten numbers have not matched up the last two years so we've been really looking at our own data in trying today they told us because I asked that question that the building wasn't going to drive a lot of you know transfer ends because that most of the people are about getting in those are young professionals you'll see it in kindergarten over time again young children going in but not a lot of transfers and I think what you're telling me is we're not seeing a lot of right now we're not seeing a lot of that I want to just know that Harry in response to your starting with that pre-k so the number of students currently in pre-k at 37 is high compared to previous years we want to keep an eye on that number starting at the previous year 27 because in our preschool we provide services to high need students special ed students and they matriculate into that program on their third birthday so remember that throughout the year as students with special needs turn 3 they become eligible for that preschool program so we see the numbers and the need for services increase so we have our finger on the pulse of that particular grade level and I want to mention to everyone not just to not just look at the comparison 16 to 17 but look at a kindergarten from 16 to first grade at 17 or this one 4th grade in 16 to fifth grade and 17 and that's where we get like 14 14 additionally your passports are coming in then we're graduating good but but we're for the most part we're gaming or staying steady as our grades are moving you know throughout the year with the exception of the eighth to the high school which case you expect some kids to you know put a private high schools and you got a lot of years as the plus one plus a couple - a couple so but yeah you're right that fourth grade to fifth grade was a noticeable increase yeah I think well worth the phantom 5th to 6th and that's those were the two big that's the plus 20 yeah but then the 6th or 7th is minus 5 right kindergarten to first well and that could be just from a lot of people that's right that tends to be a trend we want to look I mean we're so used to receiving these data in this format because that's traditional but just like the the chat that we had the last board the word made before last about how we need to look at cohort data we can't look across columns we have to look and see the the trend in the same cohort of students and that tells a totally different story so thanks for pointing that out so uh will this be on the website I'm sure people sitting there watching us talk about saying I don't want to look at that sheet we're going to turn the next one over to me on budget assumptions and priorities I was going to point to this term and share that these are these are items that should be on the Facebook page is it exactly exactly easily linked to them we're all staring at the data okay any other questions on the enrollment data all right let's move on item B is the preliminary budget discussion the goals recommend an action that the board enter into a preliminary budget discussion to include budget assumptions and priorities so the memo you have in your packet we reviewed actually with the administrators administrative team we went over this together took the feedback continued to work on it last Monday brought it to the business and Facilities Committee received some feedback some input has some discussion on it refined it and put it in the board packet on Friday afternoon to all of you and I know you've had a chance to do it it's it's a it's a it's a healthy document in terms of it's full of text on on both pages I would share I would submit to you that the budget assumptions going forward for the 1819 budget are very similar to last year there's not much change mr.

bill no to take a little direction from you do you want to kind of pull it through these a lot to read okay I don't think we need to go through everything especially if we're gonna make it available for absolutely everybody a chance to look at them yeah I when we went through it with a budget assumptions they were very similar because they're kind of you know what yet what do you about in the school sure the next page is the priorities which really will manifest themselves in the budget presentation going forward in December this is this is really the foreshadowing of those priorities you know of course they will be influenced by your input as well as the public's input is we have budget round tables and things of that nature some things that are key priorities we're going to continue to explore the use of the world language lab at the high school and how we can use it even more for our students but also looking at building and implementing world language lab at the middle school we think it's that important in addition to that continue to work with professional development and all of the things we're doing with our teachers supporting our most struggling learners in our SR VI process and other work that we're doing with with those children in addition to that a lot of we've talked about a lot of curriculum work we're really in the sweet spot this year of the work with dr.
⚗ AI-reconstructed · cite from original above
Alcott Kok and the curriculum work we're doing and all in all of the core four areas especially moving forward in science and social studies this year which is really new new on the table to really dig in roll up our sleeves so we're excited about that work in addition to that we really want to take a look at the new talented and gifted identification legislation and the impact that might have on how we take a look at an enrichment or a talented and gifted type program so we want to bring in someone to help us with that in for next year's budget and plan for such a program and the emotional intelligence work that we've talked about quite a bit we definitely want to have full implementation with the students at whiskey near next year and you may recall we have a Brookfield Education Foundation grant to get it started with the teacher training the adult adult training I should say this year not just teachers paraprofessionals secretaries etc so we really want full implementation at whisk and year for next year with that and that well you know there's some days for training and some other things that we have to support going forward with that and in the leadership section we want to continue to improve the leadership capacity of our administrators a real focus that we continue on is feedback super-super direct supervision observation and feedback that they provide to teachers it's critically important and it's an area that we all can get better at and we continue to work in that particular as well as developing targeted instruction in their coaching skills and how they take a look at student learning and then transition that into what does that mean for we have we have these learning targets that students are at this particular area and how are we going to target instruction to make them better how do I could as an administrator coach my teachers and help make that process even better and then find out operations and facilities we have areas we're going to take a look at there continue on with the blue Shapiro recommendations supporting the strategic facility steering committee work upgrading continuing upgrading our technology and servers and switches and the bandwidth and then the presentation stations we have a plan matriculated plan going forward at the presentation stations and how we're going to do that at each of the schools and then really advocate and look for athletic facilities and feels and how we're going to you know as we know out back there's a lot of things that have come due the lights the turf feels and we need to really work with the town on how we're going to fund that that's in addition to the you know the school project we're talking about so that's kind of a highlight of what's going on here and we'll publish this document tomorrow on the not only on the website but also on the Facebook wall that the Athletic feels you know with them being the age they are I mean that is something that would really does need to be addressed next year say oh it absolutely has a priority because of the you know it's it's their life expectancy and the one thing I would like to add I want to add on number six under operations and facilities is that it would be upgrading the athletic fields and facilities so some things we thought yeah I wanna make sure that's in there so people understand it's not just the fields so the pressbox really you know I have a vision I've talked with the the high school team up here and talked with BNF before like to maybe get some you know bathrooms out toward the middle of the field her visitors and the athletes when they're far far from the school and you know a permanent bathroom facility rather than porta-johns and things of that nature when we have so there's a lot of things to talk about they're not in concrete plans yet that there's a lot to talk about it's all Pope facilities on there if you guys are okay with that I'd like to maybe add one more that we can talk about that may may or may not have a budget impact and that would be to maybe take a look at the start times of our schools and I know we had talked about this before just absolutely I don't know if any of you are aware I've been following the Ridgefield thing like very closely and different schools have had different results but our high school has a really your start date than any school in dirt a B or the surrounding area really yes yes as a matter of fact because you know I'm not gonna say anything without just so happen ask but but I got you guys remember that I did research before about the store start dates just and the school times just in Derby but when I was taking a look at this I also went back and looked at the ones that have changed since then Madison Greenwich Granby and Newtown have pushed back dates now on two of them Granby a Madison I just put them in because they tweaked their middle schools a little bit but Greenwich and Newtown have significantly changed what they actually change the sort time a lot yes I like how much um here I will do it the ones that have changed her in red you know I did she probably knew I would ask and then at the very bottom of this in red I put this high school start times up all the Derg ace districts that are consider are considering an additional is have switched or Richfield Guilford and New Canaan Richfield just two days ago opted against it and when I read about it in the article I think a lot of it was because their solution was to push elementary schools to like a 10:00 a.m.

start time and that's just not supported out no one was supporting that [Music] but it's something I think that we just need to take a look at address you know I've been asking around it it's a very unscientific poll but I have been asking parents of kids and they're just out there talking about kids that come home and take naps because they're gonna be up to one or two o'clock in the morning you know regardless and the only way they can sustain getting up at 5:00 or 5:30 in the morning to make the start time is to do that you know one parent said we're sending exhausted inexperienced drivers on the road very early in the morning and had questioned that so it may just be worthy of a discussion well I just worry about discussion absolutely it's interesting that one of one of them switched it around where the middle school actually starts before the house yeah we talked about it we danced around it because of athletics and because of jobs and you know and again someone had said someone's got to be the first and we're obviously not even the longer the first but we maybe reach out to these schools see how they're doing how they're managing the athletics program that's why this is a fallacy it's been a policy it's been an excuse and it's we're not here for athletics either so it's an excuse though I agree yeah I I think it needs to be dressed I think so always discussed you have discussed a few so let's put that on the list and put it on about I think that's a good idea okay any other discussion on the budget priorities so this I think we're getting this out there is important and I think this becomes the basis for a discussion at the roundtable we have upcoming so this is that's why we do the roundtable early is to get feedback on the priorities and what what our parents feel they ought to working on so I would urge all members board and all newly elected members of the board when they're elected to be in that Roundtable I think it's one of the more important evenings of the of the year that when we do that so so just to summarize on this document we will it's already online to sit on the what it's on the website but in terms of getting it you know how we will I will modify this the priorities well add facilities on number six four fields and facilities and then a seventh will be examine start times I would actually put that up under number 16 in the first pool you want to know over there okay kind of belongs and curriculum this that is an operational okay certainly wouldn't start times as operations and facilities I'm thinking buses and all the operations it's going to take to make that happen oh yeah well that that's why I've been fascinating following the Ridgefield the hearings about how to juggle the bus schedules fascinating what the major concern is not sports it's in a lot of these districts and we've reached out to a couple the when there's games that start at three or four o'clock students are missing their last period or two of school to get there that way yeah yeah wit games so that's always something you know we're here for school to the exact comment under stand I'm just and it's just stupid response there's there's things that are out there and people get married to the idea that you can't move the so there's there's a lot of operation kids and you can't move the start time with a game exactly so you know wrong I really the reason why they charge new start times and games I just wanted to Stanford to play and it's in bitter late October it's a matter of getting getting getting the game in I agree with you it should not be an excuse to do it but that's why it's it's difficult for them to move it because of travel lights yeah but it's not it shouldn't be an excuse I agree figure something out I agree with I'm just saying I'm just giving one of the reasons while here yeah okay any further discussion on the budget priorities okay next on our agenda is upcoming events tomorrow Thursday the 19th is the center school fall social 5:30 to 7:30 Friday as Daniel had mentioned it's homecoming at Brookfield High School 5 to 7 p.m.

at the Rockville High School Auditorium and Wednesday November 15th is our next Board of Ed meeting and once again as a reminder there will be a budget roundtable prior to that at 6:00 p.m. here in the media center and all community members are strongly encouraged to that and just just to add on to that November's one of the few months of the year we actually only have one board meeting you know usually we're the first and third Wednesday sits that's us that the second ones here third was that's the third Wednesday as a third so we only have one meeting next month so and we're gonna hopefully decide to get the facilities project moving that would be our top should be our top priority so maybe the select may be one last quick item as a parent we asked today about the Washington DC trip it's been sort of the hallmark 8th grade trip the response we received back was unfortunately we have decided that a series of day trips is more closely aligned with the 8th grade curriculum kind of disappointed obviously the students are disappointed that the trips canceled I'm more disappointed over the lack of communication to the parents and it says nothing is set yet but when it is we'll send you an email ok great so it was sort of an informal response to a question my wife had posed and then email to the principal you know again it's if we're going to make changes like this 8th grade students are looking forward to it mr.

Mulligan with the serve Napolitano the Libero has had a few mistakes already three errors for her resulting in Beverly points to give Beverly this three point lead early in the first set another served from mulligan battle at the net Sprague won that one but hatreds gonna come back at it tips it and Ellis tries to keep it off the ground that sails out Sprague leading the team blocks over 120 already this season [Applause] chechi leaves the entire NEC in that category as well while he's gonna set it up on the outside Noonan not quite a new bomb but it almost drops now return is gonna say a lot of balance castle you just have to watch go by - Beverly playing very well the early goings of this first set Noonan - serve and the polit on Oh got hit in the face with that one she's laughing it off and hit her glasses but she got caught up and thought there's gonna be a lot of somewhat a lot more spin this came right back down on her if she just let that sail away would've been one for a beer and they're served but Noonan's still there another missed play by this was your team [Applause] scores now eight to three noon and still serving jumped right back Wiley Noonan sets it up for Ellis on the outside gets good lift on it kept up by the rotondo cannot be sent over by Wiley it is Hondo's there she bumps it up set up for an attack not a lot of power on apparently returns it Ellis again she saw it cracks at it will she get a third nope this one's gonna be for snow she gets up there well Beryl handles it that was playing very well in this volley it's gonna be a penalty point another error for the Patriots that was Olivia Windsor sophomore middle hitter with the error there when's they're the only sophomore on Revere and they're gonna have a timeout called by head coach Leanne O'Hara not happy with her team's played thus far they're leading the first set 9 3 a lot of it having to do with Revere errors now I'm not saying Beverly's not playing a tight game cuz they are Ellis had a very good volley that last volley that we just saw Noonan had a couple good strikes on it Sprague already playing well at the net so Beverly playing their game and talked a couple weeks ago on that Evert game is efforts a team you were clearly better than clearly and sometimes medley was letting them hang in there a little bit coach Padovani took him aside probably said something like you're better than them let them make their errors just play our game play it safe not really play it safe but play the game we know we can let ever make those errors because they are the inferior team and it happened Beverly one that in three straight sets that was the second win on their current pool game way street Beverly certainly very confident tonight already leading nine three in this first set Beverly at times this season has been a little slow in the early goings of SATs really going back and forth back and forth and then really taking over once you get to that 14-point mark right off the gate Beverly clicking now the surf from Noonan Mountain sent over in a campy another area from the Patriots just when it was this time that was number 13 Tatiana I of a cello I have a cello one of the players to watch out for senior outside hitter the Soviet team as well as captain Valentina peppers peppers also a stall on the basketball court as well epic standing at 6 for I wish I could be 5 10 26 for Noonan nearly beating 11 3 domination in this first set and Sprague really dominating out well at the net can't stop her 12 3 Noonan still serving Raven spray excuse me really showing her dominance in this first set already three brought three blocks for her as noonan's sir ties up the back end of that Revere line and a lot of errors for this review team every enjoying this service from Katie noon and going on the fifth serve from one of their leaders [Music] [Applause] Noonan came in tonight with a 79 1/2 safe percentage she adds to her a total of 37 there's one for her it's now 38 on the year for Noonan the Panthers just keep on rollin 14 3 in this first set could be a quick night folks which is good news for my voice if you can't hear it another sir from Noonan return that's a spinner Sprague bumps it Wiley her attack handle by the Libero it's going to be set up by Revere snows there Wiley for Sprague can she continue it's gonna be Rotondo when ice return off to dig in Ellis playing very well no kills recorded for her tonight that she's had a few good strikes now and Sprague lets that one get fire that's very uncharacteristic shaking her hand after that one did he jammed a finger the way Revere ends the Beverly run that seemed like it is never gonna end 14 for panther lead as number three senior captain Joyce Oliviero will serve for the Patriots miss play by Maddy Cassidy 14 five now those are the things that early really has to limit in their losses in even wins where they've lost sets to inferior teams spend those unforced errors that have really been fighting them or excuse me shooting them in the foot rail snow is their wily sets it up for Sprague tries to just drop it in but he tried to get too cute with it with a point Revere of three straight for the Patriots [Music] talking with coach Padovani after that Everett game as Noonan struggles with that one we might see a timeout here from coach Padovani soon after four straight points from the Patriots talking her I was talking her about the rotation and how seems to be bigger this year than it has for any other teams in the past and she said it's because she's got a lot of talent on the team a lot of talent in as we talked about it before every dare and she's looked like she's gonna call timeout to just stamp it up faked me out I don't like that as I was saying she was talking about Avery bear how to have to get her more minutes as Sprague makes little contact excuse me illegal contact at that map [Applause] [Music] drop that handle the other side they have a lot of depth you see right now that the plays are out there before and another point drops by the Panthers push Padovani hats call timeout soon that's seven straight for the Patriots and she's gonna do it now playing so well not letting the errors be their downfall and with seven straight points for the Panthers and then you see seven straight for the Patriots it was 14 3 now 14 10 that was quick but Beverly's depth is definitely something that I've never seen here for Coach Padovani team of course you have wily one of the captains on the team as well as Noonan and Briana snow and Mattie Cassidy you have Kate Mulligan in there as well Delaney Sprague playing great in her senior season Mariana Ellis coming back from injury in choosing the injury playing very well Julia Gebhardt seeing her time decreased in the past night Sydney Wiley's emergence is a part of that another set her on this team and coach by Devaney electing the gold with the hot hand we've seen mcgarrigle's minutes continue to increase you see Brown in there a couple times so this is a roster of 12 girls in at gate at times this is a 10 girl deep roster we can rotate in ten at a time just keep going back and forth is it's another point for her voice this is something that's definitely helped Beverley going down the stretch to xuer times and coach battle on his career I remember I think it was 2013 where we were lucky if we saw one or two bills come off that bench very blessed to have a talented squad but right now they're just not performing it's been nine straight points for the Patriots it was right after that timeout called by head coach Leon O'Hara it's now 1412 finally Beverly ends it the serve from Joyce Oliviero she enjoyed a good service that will now be Mariana Ellis 1512 panther lead now listen outside hitter she gets it over set up for the middle I believe that's Pat Ellis could not dig that out that was Babbage McGarrigle enter for Ellis now [Applause] Babbitt's one of two captains on this Revere team the other Joyce liberal and that serve remember 13 Tatyana I have a cello off the net to the ground Morgan enters out there for the Panthers is Mulligan Wiley Cassidy Noonan McGarrigle and snow the Libero she will serve snow a real vocal leader on this team true grit of the Beverly Panthers is that one falls a lot of miscommunication the back end of that Revere line 17-14 lead now for the Panthers the game of errors for both sides can be Palm [Applause] push that one up to 1813 now snow looking to keep it rolling first bumped up five in the boats been sent over by Peck while he has to go away for it and it looked like Cassidy was going to run up and try to attack that I'm a few feet back but she ended up not doing it I think that's what McGarrigle was looking that's why she didn't end up going for it rotondo now that's sales and well past the line and Wiley the service that started all this evening will head back to the line her team leading 1914 that did you get a lot of elevation on that jump but God just enough when you're 64 he pretty much done half the jump must be nice being tall 1915 that really still in the lead first sets wind him down as the sir from grace Co cellphone can't get it over the net as Ellis comes back in for McGarrigle Cassidy's serving now for the Panthers sent right back live olive arrow in noon and just watch that one drop Ellis and Mulligan let it get past the net looked like they were going for a double block attempt so Noonan held up another time off coach battle Ronny she can't be happening it was a play where communication really just got left by the wayside Alyson Mulligan right there they could have went for the attempt and even if they didn't his yell for Noonan so Beverly leading now 22:16 looking to win their fifth straight game on the Revere side they've lost but she they lost their last match I was against Marblehead was 304 that they had a small two game win streak against Lynn classical and Lynn English Devere beat one classical 3-2 in win English three Oh [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] Revere exiting the huddle are we getting ready to do the same not used to seeing Padovani use the 4-minute 15 of the time house has to be telling me these are games you have to play well play good team you got to play well going down the stretch you playing three playoff teams and their last three regular season games that's a good attest as any right before the tournament usually needs all the help they can need bump their seat up still hopeful for a four-seat as Ellis plays it well at the net Wiley gets it over set up for Pat Mitch she'll drop it in Ellis spins off for snow couldn't track it down neither could Wiley it's 2017 Beverly still in the lead but Revere hanging on and gaining confidence as this first set moves forward Cassie let's that one go without one hit her leg [Applause] 20:18 snow is the first thing why lee sets it up for ellis on the outside the fourth attempt point over here Ellis was getting good lift three for three on attack so far and she makes a piece over there to tie in at 20 so Ellis who had a good beginning to this first set couldn't get an attack over in the previous set excuse me previous serve and on that one [Music] results in a tie match here 20 20 in the first set in another one for Ellis 21 23 unforced errors in a row for junior [Music] I was first there for the bump while he sets it up for Mulligan kept up by rotondo sent over revered has their first lead in this first set Mulligan ties it back at 21 he goes opposite corner excuse me stays with that right corner and she'll now serve set for Pepperidge she'll just drop it in that's what she's been doing really she gets past the double block of Sprague pnls you'd expect ethics with her size and stature to really have a powerful powerful spike there maybe she does we just really haven't seen it because she's been finessing it at the net and helps smarting this Beverley frontline as snow gets it over a lot of miscommunication by Beverley on that play about to get over in time it's gonna be a Beverley point there I'm gonna stay to set like a sofa just hit twice 22 22 nobody likes you when you're 20 - let's hope ever we can get this 23rd point right here and baby 23:22 Beverley trying to close this first set strong [Applause] believe I just got my music wrong that's very awkward nobody likes you when you're 23 I should have known that Taylor Swift song there's 22 they need to stop making songs about different ages as it's now 23 23 now nobody likes you when you're 23 I really hope my buddy Marlins watching so you can shirt me for that over text in about two seconds 23 23 the servant from the Patriots gets over point Beverly gonna call that on number 15 Windsor so Beverly setpoint we're up 14 3 then it was 14 12 gone back and forth since then Beverly the chance to close this first set out it's Ellis setup gets past the double block snow gets it over and now my friend modeling text me to tell me never likes wonder 23 I know this there must be a delay Cassidy drops it in they have to get it over great volley here for the set point for Beverly Revere staying with it the smaller the first set by far pepperidge gets it over wiley sets it up it's Cassidy on the outside the attack can be returned by Revere that one sails out of bounds Beverly wins of dramatic first set 25 23 they hold on by the skin of their chinny chin Chin's 25 23 for set win for the Panthers you are watching Bev cam here anyone can follow us on Facebook and Twitter contact us at nine seven eight nine two seven five five four four or email us at admin at vodka morg welcome back to the Henry Cabot Lodge Fieldhouse here in Beverly High School Beverly hosting the Revere Patriots they lead one set to none when that first set 25 23 and it was a battle that shouldn't have even happened Beverly up 14 3 the very beginning of the first set and then allowed Revere to come back into it with seven straight points of their own coach Padovani called the timeout and it really continued for Revere their success later on in that first set but Beverly really caught things back together Revere actually had to lead it was 21 to 20 at one point Beverly ended up closing it out great volley there for the last point in Beverly looks forward to a second set a set that hopefully a little more complete [Applause] awaiting the start of this second step [Applause] serving for the Patriots will be number nine grace cos cellphone [Applause] out there for the Panthers is why we Mulligan Cassidy Sprague McGarrigle and Gebhardt Snow awaiting ten to enter as the Libero looks like she'll enter for Sprague and Gebhardt getting some time here in the second set we didn't see her at all in the first the Hamilton won him transferred played a big role for Beverly at the beginning of the season but as the season has gone on it's been widely playing as the setter for the Panthers see what Gephardt can do down the stretch here to get some more minutes in this rotation right before playoff time the service from cos sofa will start us in the second set sent over by wiley civils gonna set it up for package in the middle kept up by Cassidy Wiley sets it up quickly sent over by Cassidy nice dig there by Gebhardt snow great athleticism getting enough lift on the jump there and Beverly's gonna win that point his cell phone getting tall their score poured in the gym reads 199 - nothing not true though one-nothing Beverly lead as Wiley will serve the Tondo Cassell folk met you need the cell phone this time that serve was hit twice the team at Ratana was telling her to shake it off another Taylor Swift song seems to be a beach rent here - oh that one hit right into the net attempted to be dug out by the Libero and Napolitano that goes right into the net and Wiley will continue to serve just and be her third straight in her service miss played by Napolitano as that one's gonna hit the back screen and gonna be ruled a Beverly point that was gonna sail well out of balance barely catch me break there [Applause] Panthers starting this second set much like the first with dominance and a lot more Revere errors but they recoup we'll regroup from that one as snow couldn't dig it out and send it over [Music] Beverly in that first set really didn't want to respond after Revere had scored a point we'll see what they do here snow great attack Wow good left straight line just over there had a lot of spin on it two five one in snow collects the kill there for the Panthers as Noonan enters for McGarrigle [Applause] [Music] [Applause] cassadee to serve for the Panthers jump sir from Cassidy it's gonna be an ace referees gonna have them replay that [Applause] they didn't get a good good look at it [Applause] one thing I've never really liked it over though playoff games they have four judges they have the to write up each net and then they have one in opposite corners to prevent missed calls like that can't miss that Kemal Noonan with a noon shot 6-1 lead for the Panthers it says seven one says seven one in the gym but six one on your screen that is the collect score that's something we've come across a lot this season play after Matt Noonan beats out pepperidge methods we get a chance to answer great play by being an even better one by Cassie to get it over that's going in the highlight reel Beverley playing a very good second set Gephardt her attack a little too much mustard six to lead [Applause] snow the return played by Revere moving first their wily sets it up for Mulligan she already has one he'll make it Julie finds the corner Mulligan with her second kill of the evening as Sprague comes in for snow in round gets her first action tonight in for Cassidy who just made an unbelievable play couple serves to go for the Panthers coach Padovani I believe discussing with the refs about the score should be seven two says eight to this little drop shot there that was Windsor the sophomore we've seen V or V R bigs instead of going for power they're really just using their finesse and really dropping it in there sought a cup of time from Pepin we see the first of it they're from Windsor the sophomore [Music] now both coaches discussing at the scores table and they will change it to seven three say what you want about our producer Robert Doakes but he knows how to count I know you went to school good Robert I know you did nice surveyor for number three captain Joyce Oliviera too much spin on that for Noonan Olivie era first touched by snow while he's gonna set it up Gebhardt has to backtrack pretty much punches it over Cassell gets it over for the Patriots get part another attack she just bumps it over nice Jake Windsor snow while he's gonna set it up for Sprague has to adjust and that slight adjustment couldn't get it over the net Windsor was there anyway as well as cos so fo for a block attempt Revere cutting into this Beverly lead it's 75 now Beverly was leaving for zero to begin this second set I was going to say a lot of bounce snow just watches it go serving will be Gebhardt the Hamilton one-time transfer [Applause] [Music] her serve looks like a beer turned brown first to touch it wiley sets it up for snow another nice attack another kill another point for Beverly nine five snow dust that greatly there's a lot of lift on that job that definitely is in that hip line it's gonna be an ace there for hip heart playing well in her minutes she's seen in this second set as I was saying snow great athleticism they get up there get enough leverage and height to get that over the net from that far back it's definitely hard to do as Gebhardt serve sails out of bounds back to Revere now [Music] [Applause] Brown Wiley keeps it up snows gonna send it over the so full four Windsor Wiley great set on the outside you mean just couldn't drop that one in had to fight with the antenna as well as pulls the side of the net there nice dig sent over by Brown is great play by snow she's having herself a great second set yeah however get to that one so Revere cutting that Beverly lead down to two now coach Padovani going down her bench and grabbing Avery bear I believe bears gonna get some action now she's in for Wiley we said it before Padovani said Avery is the only sophomore on this team and she is the future of this program gotta get her some minutes while you can especially in a game as important as this one [Applause] already into the action already panning out for Padovani in the Panthers sneaky flava excuse me sneaky play thereby bear [Music] [Applause] with lectures going up to set it and she just swiped it away catching the Revere team completely off-guard Beverly with the lead now 11/8 Cassidy powerful kept up by Napolitano windsors gonna have to send that over and she does snows first on the scene for the Panthers bearer this time sets it up for snow great attack and revere return looks like they will it's just so fo another set from there Sprague powerful attack point Beverly 12 eight so Bearer entering the game already with the kill and an assist for the Panthers [Applause] [Music] [Applause] the served from noonan can't be sent over first touched by a Napolitano and Windsor had to really adjust and sort of spin it over in an awkward position near the net five point lead now for the Panthers Noonan still at the line sir from Noonan sent over immediately Cassidy wins the hammer down on his cellphone looked like Dwight Howard in that dunk contest when he dunked a 12-foot hope it looked like the entire full arm was over that net as she came down on that one 14:8 Beverly lead and they're really playing like the team we know they can be go through some team leaders on the season for the Panthers serving Weis and aces Maddy Cassidy leading the way with 48 Noonan with one today pumps it up to 38 and Wiley the setter that has come on late in the year she has 27 of her own talking about total blocks on the year Delaney Sprague with 112 up there in the NEC Katie Mulligan also with 99 and Noonan with 57 Beverly has four of the top six in terms of blocks in the a me see with Sprague Mulligan Noonan and Cassidy set it in previous weeks the front line of this bevery team isn't just big they're very athletic [Music] outside hitters can play middle blocker and vice versa that's how athletic and versatile this team is as ministry hits the net as McGarrigle will come in for her 14 9 Beverly lead and we're gonna see the first action from number 27 William arias it's gonna be serving talked about it at the beginning areas a male playing a predominantly female sport in high school volleyball they do have boys volleyball in Massachusetts I know there are very few teams the prep has a team belief emilich does also as Beverley can't send it over they did but he's on the fourth attempt there are a few teams in the area that do have programs but it's very limited and it's also a spring sport areas his second serve that hits the net 1510 and Beverly Lee and it will be snow serve from snow set up by Brown nice play there by number 21 rotondo [Applause] comes up out of nowhere shorter girl is Welsh but enough lift to get it over and really finesse it in between a few Beverly players sir from Kosovo they're still in the game who sat too far out in front of Gebhardt and nowhere near mulligan his cell phone with another serve maybe articles there bear mulligan now says epic Hills tonight arias just watch that one go wisely done as severely not in the end of this Beverly lead again seems like Beverly gets up about five or six points and revere comes charging back Beverly winning the first set 25 23 his second set seems to be going just about the same way very close fact in fourth arias his cellphone sent over by rotondo bear sets it up for mulligan she's like that right corner both of her kills tonight coming in the right corner Cassidy too much for Aires he's gonna get called for that that was definitely bombed Cassidy just displaying that power again the second for violent spike of this second set [Applause] [Music] definitely getting a lot of lift tonight taking out some aggression on that volleyball is there that's that one done for the Panthers they go up 1713 now [Applause] coach Padovani electing to go with a lot of Avery bear in this second set and it seems to be paying off for the Panthers just played very well as area sees various charges slowly he returns it out of bounds there are two points almost two serves 1813 now who serve this play by arias and Paulette on oh well barrows going to come in for him after a few errors in the last three plays and its bearer again continuing her service very impressive can she get another one she will appoint Beverley 2014 Lee it was his cellphone she's had a few infractions here night seems to be a little frustrated bear serving Panthers up 20 to 13 in the second set another gets Sarah not apart every bearer the future of this program the future is looking bright as bearers continue to play very well in this second set a few aces one kill and assist the only sophomore on this team [Applause] looks like the do will actually return what a pair serves for once and no they won't I spoke too soon other point from Beverly 22:13 the Panthers are rolling in this second set [Applause] serve from bear immediately sent back Gebhard after net epic trying to do something she drops it in Cassidy this time was waiting for it they know Peppa jizz mo his Rotundo gets it over bear sets it up for Mulligan finds the soft spot in the Revere zone and it's 2313 Beverly eight straight unanswered all behind every bear another serve from bear she's got to be tired as Outland sales out of allen's 2314 Beverly just needs two more points yo up - OH against the trivia Patriots it's going to be number 21 but ton dough to serve fruit the Patriots quickly gets it off gephardt's their first bears gonna set it up for Mulligan can she get it through can be returned by the Patriots a vicious attack there by I of a cello Cassidy another attack not a point for her 24:14 Cassidy getting it done when it counts for the Panthers played a consistent game all night between the first two sets as Newton comes in for McGarrigle and Cassidy will try to end this one set point for Cassidy and the Panthers her serve 10 MP return looks like it will be it's Cassell fo she gets it over there for noon and on the outside a newly shot point Beverly 25:14 Katie Newman with a new shot to end that second set they go up 200 after winning the first 25 23 Beverly takes the second 25 14 we'll be back here at the Henry Cabot Lodge Fieldhouse at Beverly high school after a few quick commercials you creativity is putting your match to work and it's produced the most extraordinary results in human culture [Music] dreams come from inspiration inspiration comes from an idea and ideas come from creativity we believe in raising up a new generation of creative minds and it all starts with you helped sponsor the award-winning Beverly High School meeting program so the students can have the resources they need to make dreams happen you welcome back to the Henry Cabot Lodge field house here at Beverly High School again I am Alex leuco for Bev cam thank you for watching channel 22 and as always all volunteers are welcome to help join us with any program that we have whether it's live sports whether it's taped sports whether it's city council meetings anything like that couple shows in the studio volunteers always welcome this is a nonprofit organization and all the work done is you know a lot of volunteer based I've been volunteering for five years and very rewarding so we could always use a few more especially on sports broadcasts you know sometimes I'd like a partner who knows and myself is yes but am i flexible no I'm just getting out with gladly gladly accept a partner as Beverly we'll start this third set with a servant it's gonna be from bearer that's the hero from that second set and she starts right where she left off an ace for her already even the third set there we up won-ho in barrel playing very well best game I've seen her play this season coach Padovani has to like what she's seen and you'd like to thank if this continues for the rest of this game there another race on her second serve of the third set to start it you'd like to think that she could see a lot more time in the playoffs puts that of I'm very lucky to have three very good setters on this team in Gebhardt Wiley and now the emergence of bear almost at will [Applause] finally returned by Revere Bear battle epinet she's even going up after that point full review as I believe it's going to be McGarrigle called for that palm so Beverly on the first step 25 23 the second easily 25 14 which Padovani is known to get some subs sometime in here than games that have a situation similar to this and snow with a crazy play winter is coming folks and it's brie out of snow freezing the entire reveal line there three one Beverly leads snow within elites god-tier play so Beverly right there Cassidy with the jump serve too much spin on it for Revere for one Beverly lead and this team is clicking early in the third set whether it's bears snow or caste [Applause] cassadee with the serve weird playful Revere there didn't know who's gonna go over or not and you had believed it was pitch at the line with cassava really just watching that one go over their heads one in a really good position it's hard to do with that ball hitting the net like that at that angle it's 5-1 Beverly leave there gets it up miscommunication but Ellis ends up hitting that I believe in her block attempt is Amita does that one into the net into the ground six one Beverly already running away with this third set said that the first set though and here came back a little bit later ended up 25 23 but Beverly did the same thing in the second as well they were up for Oh quickly and they really never relinquish power in that second set as pepperidge gets it over there sets it for noon and noon shot no on their 7 1 that 1 5 paint [Applause] span 30 making quick work in this third set just as I say it Cassidy's serve it's a net back to Revere now Oliviero is gonna come in for the Patriots number six am unit give the savage she exits cross-court sat for Ellis who just barely gets it over but it's on the left side of that antenna straight set there by Bearer as it was a bump all the way cross-court The Audacity can't handle that one so after Beverly goes up seven one three quick points for the Patriots it's 7 for now in the third [Applause] there another sneak attack for her at the net she has a lot of leaden for someone that size she got up there and in a hurry the second time she did that for the Panthers of all times resulting in points as Brown comes in for Cassidy so Brown will get some more action [Music] [Applause] Mulligan will serve rotondo first there cuz so fo for I achieve Ella there her set can be hit twice point will go to Revere that woman was meant for Sprague it just really got away from Bear [Applause] surf from pepperidge can't be returned by snow but great effort from Bear and Ellis to try to get it over it's 86 now coach Padovani needs some words from the bench think of Beverly commits an error here that Ivana's gonna call a quick timeout Noonan that I achieve L oh she gets it back there finds a corner Brown wasn't ready for its snow more towards the middle of the court as well and it is 8 7 Revere cutting into this Beverly Beverly was up seven one just moments ago fair sets it up for Ellison see what she can do set up for Papac some finesse Sprague for Noonan good adjustment it's I could be returned by the Patriots and package coming down on it that one hits the net Noonan was there for the defense and she will now serve her team lead in 97 of two sets to 0 [Applause] [Music] [Applause] would be returned and that one sails under the net I'd Civello with return error therefore the Patriots Noonan continuing to serve Noonan one of four captain's on this Beverly team great effort from the Patriots to get it over but it sails well fast to do not well past well wide right behind that judge across the way another serve from noon and another error for the Patriots another point for the Panthers 12 7 Beverly lead now [Applause] Beverly on a four-point run here three of those coming off of moving serves make it four and a five point run for the Panthers now the serve and it's going to be an ace for Noonan 14-7 [Applause] Beverly taking a commanding lead as Revere will call timeout looking at the rest of Beverly schedule who mentioned that they end the season with three playoff teams tonight with Revere on Thursday they host Lynn classical and on Friday they will be at Stoneham so they have three games in four days the latter of those three games is going to be a back-to-back the second being in a way game it's a tough last stretch for the Panthers to end the season but looking at that Lin classical game on Thursday will be the senior night here at Beverly high school who will have full coverage for Bev camp or on Bev cam channel 22 in win classical that's a team that already has clinched a playoff berth it's a team that Revere had beaten last week three sets to one [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Noonan continuing to serve another ace for her second in a row for Katie noon in Beverly up now 15 7 Beverly on a seven-point run here six of those coming from the Noonan service immediately sent back Sprague sends it right back out on point Beverly at 16 7 this is as good as we've seen the Panthers play all year losing a lot of debt a lot of depth tonight bearer getting a lot of minutes get mark getting some minutes there in that second set and all the usuals are performing Sprague noon and Cassidy Mulligan in Ellis playing some good ball there at the line she stuffs that one she'll get the block in the kill excuse me she'll get the block 17 7 sir from noon see if they can continue this spray that's a campfire everyone stand around that one everyone in the pink jersey just looking at each other 18 seven can tell they just want this one to end after a hard-fought first set 25 23 it's been complete domination by the Panthers and Noonan is still serving 11 straight for the Panthers make it 12 and make it Noonan making her 11th straight serve on this service [Applause] another sir from Noonan she has three aces in this service alone Sprague sends that one over great play by Pappas but an even better play by Sprague there she stuffs it down 22 7 Beverly on a roll 13 straight noon and continuing the serve [Applause] another serve from Noonan but arms got to be tired sent over by Revere that sails out of bounds Beverly continues 21-7 [Applause] [Music] [Applause] another sir from Newton and he sent over by Civello snow bear and the Run will end at 14 points it was 87 Beverly we're now at 21 8 as complete subs here for the Patriots everybody out cos soffel Rotondo Peppa dela Iacono seeing her first action as well as Perez Restrepo arias also back in for the Patriots Ellis now bear Sprague sends it over finds a saucepot and other kill their first drag another points from Beverly 22 8 Cassie's gonna come in for Brown Cassidy will serve as you know it'll be Ellis serving with Ellis serving out there with the Libero snow moving Sprague at Cassidy and bearer the sir from Ellis first touch by area sent out of bounds 23 to 8 [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] there now Cassady it's gonna have to be sent over break play there by Newton [Applause] attach handled by Ellis Newton not really paying attention they're just lost that ball may be as McGarrigle will come in for Ellis was a great play by Windsor at the net to force that confusion for Beverly so Beverly's gonna win this one and three straight on the first 25 23 second 25 14 Beverly looked in the hole revered a single digits if they can in this thing set and Ashley doing her best she gets it over great play arias he returns it they are sets it up for Cassidy powerful strike good job to keep it up by the Libero of Revere see if cast he gets another go at it it'll be Sprague and her attack off of various point Beverly it's match point for the Panthers as Mulligan comes in for Sprague Sprague had herself a night snow to serve for match point then they keep Revere to single digits great return by Revere but let me tell you something winter is coming as snow gets it done mayor for the Panthers they win three sets to none after winning the third twenty five to nine Beverly just got better every single set they won the first twenty five twenty three they were up big at the beginning of that then it went back and forth and eventually Revere took the lead 2120 in that first set Beverly came back to win that one 25 23 they regrouped who started off real fast real great in that second set ended up winning that one 25 for tuning boy that first set 25 times Beverly took that one that might have been the best set we've seen Beverly Clay all season it might be the best game we've seen Beverly play all season against a playoff team on the other side Olivia berry great job in the minute she saw coach Padovani went over to her right at the beginning of the second set got her in there she immediately went on a roll believe it was eight straight serves for her service in that second set she played the entire second the entire third set great job from the sophomore the future of this program and Katie Noonan in that third set boy 13 straight serves on her service 14 straight points for Beverly it sure was a great game all around for the Panthers looking at the standings now when the NEC Beverly is now 12 in six overall nine and four in the NEC that moves them now into sole possession of fourth place they were tied with Levine they're now on fourth behind Danvers Marblehead and Peabody Danvers the only undefeated team in the conference at 12 and OH Marvel head and Peabody at 11 and one each right behind them so that's your top tier there that's Danvers model head and Peabody it's gonna be hard to beat them if they're on their game Beverly has to play a perfect game beat any of those teams but right underneath if you're looking at the teams with Beverly there's Revere Medford Everett classical those lines Beverly is really the only team that stands out to me to be in that second tier and we're gonna find out because Lin classical comes here for senior night on Thursday well in classical nine and seven in the conference nine and seven overall also a very formidable opponent but that's team that lost to this team Revere a few nights ago Revere beat them three to two that was in Revere so I'm not a fan of sports math but if you like matchups you like what you're seeing there you just beat a team that just beat a team that you should be able to beat well guess what you should beat Lin classical in two nights and I think that's what we're gonna see Beverly building momentum as they go down this stretch that's now five straight wins for the Panthers they can make it seven straight to end the year that would be great for them in their conference going into the tournament they just beat Revere they have classical on Thursday and then they go at Stone them on Friday to end their season we're gonna have playoff volleyball here at fairly high school and who knows Beverly can win out these next couple games we might see a home game and we might see a lot more avery bare as this season winds down thank you for watching channel 22 on the Bev cam Sports Network I'm Alex leuco and we will see you Thursday 5 o'clock sharp for Beverly's senior night [Music]

[Music] hello and welcome to the Henry Cabot Lodge field house here at Beverly High School I'm Alex leuco for channel 22 on Bev cam bringing you an NEC matchup between the Beverly Panthers in the visiting Lynn classical Rams tonight is senior night here at the Henry Cabot Lodge Fieldhouse for the Beverly Panthers there will be six seniors for Beverly who will be introduced before the game a little bit of festivities beforehand those six seniors will be setter Sidney Wiley outside hitter Katie Noonan Delaney Sprague she's a middle blocker Maddy Cassidy an outside hitter Brianna's snow of the Libero and julia Gebhardt a setter she is of course the transfer from Hamilton Wenham this Beverly team has played very well as of late heading into the tournament only two regular season games left right now coach Padovani saying a few words we'll head down to the Florida see what she has to say coach Padovani saying a few words for the win classical seniors [Applause] and there's a music playing a little early hey coach Padovani getting down [Laughter] [Music] every high school junior rotc will be presenting the colors here momentarily [Music] [Applause] [Music] beautiful job by Danielle lovasco filling the national anthem here back to the floor and coach Padovani [Music] competitive players bringing roses older TV seniors on one constable anything on this first separately Vicki Felix isn't really there Megan's always no gold al Cindy [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Anisa Fernandez no leadership momenta that will be the Beverly players these seniors that will have their family and friends with them to take pictures on the senior night microloans as you see there on your screen always here for a lot of Beverly sports especially senior nights taking pictures soon every player is gonna say some words there's Sidney Wiley le Brown [Music] [Applause] [Music] there's Sidney Wiley [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Maryana Alice will say a few words about Katie Noonan now [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] available from the fields about 90 capacity [Music] [Applause] [Music] getting mulligan now speaking about Briana's snow [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] what was everyday Cynthia tattooing okay good luck getting a picture with the family right now this is the senior night for Bethel High School as they host one possible but this might not be the group's final home game this season now if everyone still has a chance to get a home playoff game they just need to win their last two games and hope things fall their way with PVD and Marblehead now peepee Marblehead both have a few games left as well or a couple games I should say both are actually in action tonight while the man is active in English that should be a win for marvel in English a bar in here UT I don't see any whale in English pulls that upset even though they are at home Peabody will go to Somerville now Somerville also not a very good team in their own right so Beverley needs to win tonight to keep their hopes alive it looks like Peabody and Marblehead have wins locked up tonight at ease tomorrow Peabody will also play they host Swampscott and Swampscott is a playoff team so that should be a very crucial game to watch if you're a Beverly fan Marblehead will be at Milton and Milton also not a very good school for volleyball not a very good volleyball program there so it looks like Beverly's hope to get that home game in the first round of the playoffs will be for Peabody to lose to Swampscott tomorrow night and there's no guarantee that that's gonna happen it's a home game for pvt it's gonna be their senior night those girls are gonna be ready to go so Beverly only thing they can worry about right now is their own destiny they don't control it but they can certainly lose out of a playoff game they do not play hell excuse me do not play well here tonight or tomorrow against Stone them Stoneham is on Monday excuse me now looking at Beverly's schedule lately they're on a bit of a winning streak they have five in a row started at Somerville and they hosted Everett for a win then they went Toulon English to Winthrop and hosted Revere two nights ago here where they swept them three to nothing in that five game win streak Beverly has dropped only two sets one at Somerville in one at Winthrop Beverly is on a roll 15 of their last 17 sets they have come out on top now for linning excuse me Lynn classical they beat Lynn English two nights ago that's not nothing write home about Lynn English not a very good team they swept them three Oh as they should now Lynn English sir excuse me Lynn classical has been a team of stretches here this season they started out Owen three losing to Medford Marblehead in Danvers but after that Owen three skid they went on to win seven straight then they lost one Everett won a couple more and they've been very streaky as of late they've lost three of their last four games losses coming at Revere at they lost 3-2 at Revere a team that Beverly handled easily 300 they lost to Peabody 3-1 at Swampscott 3o and then as I said before they swept Lynn English the two nights ago 300 so Lynn classical coming in not on their best terms yes they beat Lynn English yes sir confidence might be up there but Lynn English is far inferior to this Beverly squad classical is gonna have to come in here and play perfect volleyball to oust Beverly here especially on their senior night when you're a senior here and it's your last home game you step it up a little bit more I think we're gonna see a lot from the seniors here tonight Wylie Noonan Sprague Cassidy's snow and Gebhardt I think it's gonna be their night tonight and they're gonna have to be the ones to lead this team and I think they will we saw a lot from Avery bear the sophomore setter two nights ago she played a crucial role in that slaughter she's me in that slaughter of Revere a very good team in their own right looking at the Division one north volleyball tournament as of today via MaxPreps which to be a 12-team tournament Methuen running away with it at 18 and 1 Winchester at 16 and to Woburn at 16 and to and and over at 16 and to round out the top 4 tournament were to start today they would have a buy-in the rest excuse me in team 6 7 & 8 5 6 7 & 8 would have home games those teams are Lawrence Peabody North Andover in Marblehead and again if it ended today these four teams the 9 through 12 teams would be away Beverley Masco Central Catholic and Billerica Beverly would have would play Marblehead of it ended today Maskull would be at North Andover Central Catholic would be at Peabody and Bill Greco would be at Lawrence Beverly definitely wants to get up there into a home game you don't want to have to play a team obviously you would like to play a team that you're familiar with in your own conference but not if they're Marblehead or Peabody those are teams that have really dominated you this season and in recent history Beverly wants to get the best matchup as anyone would the best matchup as they can in the first round and hopefully have a home playoff game here believe we've seen it twice in the past six years here at Beverly high school and although they've lost both very good games in very packed a very packed Fieldhouse a lot of great atmosphere in here when this place gets packed it gets bumping [Music] we're gonna go to commercial for about a minute we'll be back after a few commercials and we'll see you on the other side [Music] you back here at Beverly High School an extended intro we're gonna do our best to fill the time it is senior night as we've mentioned for Beverly high school volleyball team seniors that will be on display tonight will be Sydney Wiley Katie Noonan Delaney Sprague Matty Caffey round of snow and Juliet Gebhardt looking at this classical team warmup it's actually something we hadn't seen before two nights ago we're gonna see it again another male playing in this volleyball conference checking out the roster it's going to be Joshua severe junior standing at 6 3 saw another male play for Revere was arias who was two nights ago didn't really have much of an impact he seemed he seemed draw definitely some athletic ability just needed to learn the game a little bit more but watching severe warmup he looks to be quite the opposite it definitely has a lot of leap said a few attacks early in this warmup and both look very good it seems to be pretty quick now going back to the MIAA playoff rules there is one rule that I don't think anybody likes and if you do like it you you really shouldn't because it it's pretty bad it's called the Sullivan rule now the way the Sullivan rule works if you're in a conference the way conferences work now it's a little bit different than they used to be some conferences have d1 teams summer t-2 t-3 it all depends the conference doesn't dictate which division you're in the size of your school dictates what which division you're in so it's bigger the school the higher the division Division 1 2 3 etc now if you're in a conference where you're the only or excuse me if you're in a conference where say there's a couple d1 teams and you play one game against one d1 team and you win technically you're eligible for the tournament you'll be in you'll be a playoff team even with a losing record so the Sullivan rule always confuses me it confuses teams that benefit from it and it definitely frustrates teams that don't benefit from it [Music] looking at the Beverly stat leaders this season leader fur kills Maddie Cassidy she's a leader of a lot of categories on this Beverly team the best all-around player in my opinion on this squad and in recent history here at Beverly high school she has 87 kills behind her are mulligan and Noonan with 59 of peace' serving Maddie Cassie leads the team in aces as well with 73 the surf percentage of eighty five point three is good for top five on her team as well Katie Noonan with 50 to Sydney Wiley with 36 and Mulligan with 31 aces over two blocks they have a stud excuse me in the middle they have a couple Delaney Sprague with a hundred and forty-eight Mulligan with 137 Noonan sixty-one Cassidy fifty of her own so that Beverly front line the best I've ever seen it here in my time not only they very good up front defensively getting blocks but a lot of them can they have the athletic ability to play outside hitter a lot of the outside hitters have the size to play middle blocker in vice verse a very versatile team this Beverly high school volleyball team is this year [Music] team leader and assist is Sidney Wiley with 48 but not too far behind his Gebhardt with 42 Avery bear with 21 assists in the limited time she's seen [Music] about eight minutes here until we start the game officially Beverly High School team making their way over they'll start warming up momentarily you always wonder how these teams on a senior night bounce back from that those long speeches and all the emotions beforehand you saw of course on the video half the team if not the whole team in tears I know if I cry I can't do anything for at least a half hour if I don't have ice cream if I if I have ice cream I can I'm good for in a half hour I can do anything if I don't have ice cream I'm not gonna do anything until the next day if I cry ruins my skin gets in my beard it's not good hopefully these girls can handle crying a little better than I can as their warm-ups get underway they seem to be ready for this game the emotions not getting the best of them [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] and we're gonna go to commercial for a few minutes about four minutes away from game time so stay tuned for senior right here at Beverly high school as they host Lin classical you listen all it took was someone who would insist that I just try suddenly everything was turned around because they judge you you tell them I don't need this no one is going to understand unless they've been through it how can they then one day you realize you feel so hopeless and you'd help I need help you feel so hopeless then one day you realize unless they've been through it how can they understand I don't need this no one's going to church suddenly everything was turned around because they insist that I just try all it took was someone who would just listen [Music] everything starts out small the things that hurt us they all start from somewhere the words we say the things we do I can grow into something else what was small and innocent can become big and sometimes scary all it takes is one comment one picture one video for something to catch fire but a big problem doesn't need a big response not at first we don't know what to say the eye emoji can be that first step we take let's all pledge to take that first small step together and change the world in a big way I'm a witness and so are you [Music] you welcome back to the Henry Cabot Lodge field house here at Beverly High School for the senior night for Beverly Panthers as they host the Lin classical Rams about a minute and a half left before we get this thing going Beverly riding a five game win streak coming into tonight in which they've only dropped two sets so 15 out of the 17 sets played in this five game win streak Beverly has won they will be playing some of their best volleyball of the season the rotation seems to be getting even bigger and we might see a lot more of Avery bear the sophomore Center tonight after the role she played against Revere but I believe to start this game we're gonna see the six seniors believe it's gonna be widely known and sprayed Cassady snow and Gephardt I'll be surprised if it's not [Music] could be Brianna snows last time breaking the huddle here at Beverly high school hopefully Beverly gets a home playoff game but as far as everyone knows this is the last time these girls will play on this Court [Music] [Applause] starting for Lin classical will be number 24 Margaret McHale number 29 Chanel berry number 6 Skylar Creighton number 1 Pamela Diaz Valerio number 4 here it says urilla and number 2 Aleta gnome and as I expected for Beverly it's gonna be the six seniors out there snow Gebhardt Cassidy Noonan Sprague and Wiley and the Libero snow comes in and we're ready for action yep Hart will serve first for Beverly usually know if classical will be serving the number one Pamela Diaz Valerio is sophomore Cassidy first on the scene Noonan the attack and a quick noon shot but it's going to be returnable attack from classical out of bounds Beverly quick one Oh lead serving will be noon in a much younger classical team than this Beverly team as they have a sophomore in starting lineup as Sprague puts it home to old quick lead [Applause] Sprague with that kill directly off of a return from classical Newton will serve again Noonan with the serve Cassidy quick to react it's kind of your turnover by the Rams though they get it over Deb Park first their snow will bump it next Cassady near the net finesse sent right back Noonan's their snow Cassidy again will have to bump it over on the third and she gets it over but it hits the top divider there that's gonna be out of balance that's a classical point so first of the game McGarrigle in for Noonan serving for the Rams will be number four senior dear it says urilla cyrillus serve first touched by snow while he sets it up for Cassidy on the outside that's good for a point three one Cassidy on the board her first kill of the evening his Mulligan rushes in for snow so Sprague will now serve for the Panthers serve from Sprague line drive somehow returned by the Rams great job by them widely gets stuffed at the net they'll have to send it over on this attempt they do Cassidy's there Rams will return it he attack out of bounds another point for Beverly another attack error for the Rams for one Panther lead here on senior night [Applause] spreads second serve of her service most likely he returned it is Cassidy's their first widely we'll set it up back to Cassidy on the outside she gets tough sends it back it's a whistle believed referees disagreeing about it referee saying his own mistake called for foul on the play explaining it to the team's not sure if anybody's gonna be a ward of pointers it's gonna be a reserve looks like it'll be a research here and hits the net so for two leads still for the Panthers and I have a couple subs for the Rams number 13 captain Emily Silva enters the game at number 28 another captain rode Alcindor will enter as well so a couple senior captains coming in after the first six points of the first set serving will be Silva kept up by McGarrigle wiley it's gonna be bumped over by snow set up the attack first there is Gebhardt wiley will set it up for moly and her attack she drops it in that's a point for the Panthers [Applause] she saw the double block coming at her she elected to just spin it over to the left drops it in gets that kill wiley will now serve her team up 5-2 in the first set wiley serve hits the net so back and forth here to start it Beverly still with a two-point lead couple subs for the Rams another of captain Mayer mill Gonzales will enter in jena Tobin a junior she'll enter as well she'll serve Tobin serving her team down 5-3 snows first there wiley will set it up on the outside for Gephardt good play there to keep it up that play was made by Valerio i believe no that was Zorilla keep it in front of her not let it get to that corner but her team can't return it Beverly leading 6 3 as Noonan will enter for McGarrigle and Cassidy the senior were one of the six seniors on this team will serve [Applause] [Music] cassadee with the jump serve not quite high enough it'll go back to the Rams couple more subs entering will be amber Creighton sophomore middle blocker and number 30 Josh who was severe a junior and he will serve as he enters severes first serve his first touched by snow gap art gets it over and tough play at the net for the Rams that was Alcindor lost her footing as she got closer point for Beverly serving the first time tonight will be the Libero snow sno serve a lot of spin jumped up on severe wasn't quite expecting that spin his points awarded to Beverly in a quick substitution and severes out and Barry is back in [Applause] [Music] snow still serving for the Panthers vocal leader on this team great serve but that's a little too far a lot of subs in this rotation so far for the Rams new back in as well as McHale serve from noon first touched by snow wiley will set it up on the outside for Noonan blocked their noonan's the first their that seemed to drop in on the line what a crazy play Noonan gets double blocked she scrambles to keep it up it goes over and just barely hits the line for a Beverly Point Gebhardt now serving her team leading 9 5 after that kill from Noonan while he sets it up for snow I think snow is most effective when she's jumping from about ten feet away from the net hitting that line drive with the spin on it and it really eats up at the opposing team Wiley trying to catch someone off-guard Tobin's there though snow all the way across ends up in a Beverly Point now believes Beverly had another hit to get it over snow just had to bump into another teammate she elected to go all the way over and it just barely made it in a place where classical just couldn't play it Beverly leads now ten five Tobin good dig sent back but it's sent out of bounds Gebhardt service continues as the Panthers roll on they lead 11 five give Hart another serve neumes their first it's gonna have to be returned on the third attempt it is cassadee's there while he bumps it Noonan her attack from the far side just four so the Rams finally stopped the Gebhardt service and they continue their plethora of subs crating back in as well as Valerio talk about pitch counts for pitchers in the MLB I think we should have a sub count through substitutions here in high school volleyball this game is gonna go on for a long time if this keeps happening great serve there Cassady keeps it up snow from that angle where she's so good it's stuffed by Mikael makes you wonder if she's related to Kevin playing the net so well there was Mikael saw that from snow snow not used to getting blocked when she goes for that Cassidy sends it right back Mikael can't get enough leverage on it to hit the ball down so Newton's return will drop in for a point Noonan few kills already in the first set her team leads 12 7 and she will serve let's get on that Robert see if Mikael is related to Kevin McHale let's get that go let's get the research booming Noonan first-served point goes off of Valerio into the stands [Applause] Noonan's serving again eats up a player on the Rams that was chanel Barry couldn't quite get under it to keep it up so - straight aces there for Katie Noonan for her team up seven in the first set Noonan serve Noom elects to go for it McHale now and it's sent over almost blocked by Sprague but that's one by Skylar Creighton in McGarrigle will enter for Noonan and Zorilla will enter for Creighton referee's discussing something serve from Zorilla first touched by snow widely comes out of nowhere takes it from McGarrigle and it's bumped over by snow classical looking in return it's berry her attack has passed a double block I believe that hit Sprague drops in for a point classical hanging on going on a run of their own only trailing by six in this first set excuse me trailing by five it's 14 9 the sir from thriller will sail out so Beverly they go back up 6 as Sprague comes in to serve now serve from Sprague almost eating up Valerio and it's going to be pushed up there by number 4 Zorilla [Applause] point Beverly as they lead 16 9 when your screen it says 14 7 if Everly is leading this first set 16 9 mother served from Sprague another return from the Rams an attack from Mikael kept up nicely by Wiley Gebhardt over to McGarry well she bumps it over believe that stayed in it did not just barely goes out of bounds almost a repeat of that Noonan point we saw earlier in this set [Music] sir from the rim sent right back by McGarrigle it's kept up and sb sent over a great job by the Panthers to get that one over in three wily sets it up and hit twice by Wiley she's been called on that quite a bit this season we didn't see any of them excuse me any of it two nights ago against Revere but is something that has been with her all season kept up by McGarry will set up by Wiley Cassidy and outside attack kept up by the Rams Barry will bump it over great job by McGarrigle she has a few digs in this first set Mulligan her attack gets returned gasps he slows it down Wiley slows it up for Cassidy on the other side that's a point one goes off the hands of Emily Silva senior captain for the Rams 17 11 Beverly lead in this first set as Wiley will serve now [Applause] classical looking to return kept up by snow it sent all the way back over and back again set up by Wiley Mulligan her attack gets past the double block almost drops in campfire style but it's gotta be a Beverly point anyway as its returned ever leave that came off the hands of Road Alcindor 1811 panther lead now on senior night in the first set this is how Beverly wants to start this match set the tone early they've won 15 out of the last 17 sets in their five game win streak as that one sails out of Allens another point for the Panthers and we're gonna get a timeout here and the head coach for the Lin classical rams as Beverly is leading 19 to 11 playing very good volleyball tonight improving why they deserve a home game in the Division one north volleyball tournament now again Beverly right now the season ended today they would be playing in the 8th 9th seeded game Beverly the 9 seed Marblehead the 8 seed Beverly would travel to Marblehead now Beverly's only chances really of getting a home game is they have to win out they have to be classical tonight they have to place their beat Stoneham on Monday now both Marblehead and Peabody two teams that Beverly needs to lose to get a home game for both in action tonight Marblehead at Lin English and Peabody at Somerville both of those should be easy wins for the magicians and tenors respectively the only thing Beverly is really I want to say hoping for because they're hoping for both of those teams to lose tonight but that's not going to happen Swampscott is traveling to Peabody tomorrow night Swampscott a playoff team themselves a very good program over there for the Big Blue in if Beverly has any chance of getting a home game in this playoffs it will be if Swampscott beats Peabody tomorrow night wilee sets it up for Gebhardt she pushes it over bumped over while he sets it up for Cassidy on the far side her attack finds paint 2011 gas city in midseason form here tonight three kills already in the first set as while he continues to serve [Music] and a return air of the air for the Rams another one leads to another Beverly points so widely continuing this service three straight points coming from Wiley's serves four straight points for the Panthers in total and another one that's an ace 22 11 Beverly picking up right where they left off two nights ago when they hosted Revere looking to win 16 out of their last 18 sets with a set victory here and that fell in the entire classical team looked puzzled wasn't even camp fire no one was standing around it I don't know if they did if they knew that a serve was made or not by the way it hits the corner great spin on that serve from Wiley Beverly two points away from winning this first set classical ready for this serve that's a start Deb Hart sets it up for Cassidy on the outside sent over great effort there by Wiley to try to keep it up Gonzales and Tobin both in for the Rams they trail 23 to 12 in this first set [Music] [Applause] Snow's first there while he sets it up for Mulligan she puts it home Silva couldn't return it in its set point before the Panthers and Maddy Cassidy will try to finish off the Rams in this first set as Noonan comes in for McGarrigle 24:12 Cassidy with the jump serve Tobin's there she bumps it has to be sent over it is snow Wiley sets it up it's Gebhardt her attack nice dig there by Tobin to keep it over butter a turn error from the Rams results in a Beverly Point in a Beverly first set win they win the first set 25 13 it was I want to say a slaughter because it really wasn't but Beverly really put the foot on the gas right after they scored about their ninth point in the first set they just kept going too many mistakes for the Rams led to that 13-point deficit in the first set either way Beverly up one set to none and they've now won 16 out of their last 18 sets we'll be back after a few on their senior night against classical a lead 2014 they lead one set to nothing after winning the first set 25 to 12 Beverly sending out their Cassidy Mulligan Gebhardt Sprague McGarrigle he's gonna be wily in McGarrigle Sprague will come out for the Libero to start this second set [Music] [Applause] while II will serve to start this second set sir from Wylie bumps off the top of a net sent back by Barry cheating that wasn't very that was Alcindor a great play had to sprawl out for that one but it sails out of bounds Beverly leaves one nothing start this second set wiley with us another serve Alcindor keeps it up McHale sets it tack first touched by snow McHale sent him in right back while he sets it up forecast knee on the outside just a little too far so we're tied at one first time this match has been tied if it wasn't 0-0 classical looking for their first lead will they get it snow will have to return it in great effort but took her way too far to get enough gas on that bump so classical man with their first lead of this match they lead to one in the second set snow sends it right back but that one hits the net another point for classical [Applause] serve from Valerio Wylie keeps it up sent over by Cassidy Mikhail's their first she'll get a chance for the attack in the middle past the block of Mulligan but it's kept up by Wylie that'll end up being a point for classical as it went up and hit that divider came back down so the Rams lead 5-1 in this second set and it's gonna be a Beverly Point classical serve heads out of bounds in McGarrigle will exit Noonan will enter Casti will now serve serve from Cassidy hits the net very uncharacteristic three point lead now for the Rams as McHale exits and Zorilla will enter [Music] Gorillaz serve battle at the net sent over by Gephardt nicely kept up and sent over sent right back by mulligan knew him with a great play keep it in play great volley here noon and noon shot it's returned and point Beverly Creighton called on that one Sprague in for Mulligan [Music] snow her serve eats up the backline of classical I'll have to get it over in three they do great power on that bump Noonan another attack kept up and that's going to be the second call in a row on Creighton hit that one twice snow serve sales just out of bounds point for the Rams Beverly a lot of errors to start this second set they won the first very decisively 25 12 as new makes its and Gonzales enters for the Rams [Music] snow Wiley sets it up sprague a little bit too much mustard another point for the Rams seven for lead for Lin classical Cassidy first their wily snow from that spot sent right back and out of bounds point Beverly it's crazy how snow gets that much elevation from that far away from the net and as such a line drive with spin on it really is there her favorite spot on the court as you can tell Gebhardt she's serving that point goes to Beverly at 7-6 now sent right back Wiley's there sprague sets it up for Noonan's gonna be hit twice though when we eight players seeing the court for Beverly tonight the six you see out there now that's Gebhardt Noonan Cassidy snow Sprague and Wiley also McGarrigle and Mulligan has seen time will most likely see some Ellis and Bearer tonight as well perhaps Brown if Padovani wants to empty out her bench Gebhardt snow her attack that one hits the net looks like Padovani saying a few words to her team might be thinking about calling a timeout she's notches will tell them to calm down play their game Cassidy while he sets it up Sprague's attack in the middle sails out of bounds see if Padovani calls a timeout now and she will Beverly trailing 10 to 6 in this second set and it isn't classical that's beating Beverly's Beverly that's beating themselves see Padovani there talking to her players her leaders how fortunate to have six seniors on this team great leadership also four captains both teams getting ready to come out of the huddle [Music] same-sex out there for the Panthers berry will be serving for the Rams after that Beverly timeout first served first touched by Cassidy while he sets it up on the outside its noon and it gets blocked that was Alcindor looking like Lew Alcindor out there blocking Noonan Lew Alcindor of course the name of grim abdul-jabbar before he converted [Applause] little fun fact for you little trivia [Applause] Noonan serving now after that glint classical served 1 under the net literally trailing by 4 in this first set looking to turn things around here served from Noonan gonna have to be sent over on the third attempt it is Sprague Wiley sets it up all the way cross-court Cassidy she finds a hole in the form of Barry's hand she couldn't complete that couldn't keep it up to give her team another shot at it that's a point in the kill credited to Mattie Cassidy sir from Newton sent all the way back Cassidy sets it up everyone's gonna slow this down Gebhardt her attack Barry another great play sent out of bounds though two straight points for the Panthers serve from Noonan pumped-up I'll send her there now and it's sent over by Gonzalez Wiley tries to catch him off guard but buries their Gebhardt Wiley all the way cross-court nearside it's Cassidy she gets a past Alcindor point Beverly was hit twice there vile cinder it's Cassidy adding to her kill total she's got the last two therefore the Panthers they've cut the lead down to one classical's largest lead this set was for Noonan serve that was a line drive as soon as that got to the net that just died right in front of Barry into the right of Silva great placement great spin we're tied all here were tied here at 11-11-11 Make A Wish another sir from Noonan Beverly looking to regain the lead Cassidy's there Wiley she'll set it up Sprague pushes that one over while he sets it up again this time for Cassidy can she find a corner no [Applause] classical regains the lead as McGarrigle will come in for Noonan Tobin will enter as well as McHale for the Rams they're replacing Alcindor and Zorilla snow why we she sets it up for Cassidy devastating blow there but it's returned Wiley spray tries to drop it in but it's returned quickly by Barry [Applause] Gebhardt now Tobin's their weird play at the net McHale couldn't get to another kid Gonzales either way Sprague was going to be there for the block attempt as well tied at 12 Mulligan quickly in for the Libero snow Sprague her sir Wiley nice attack there by Mulligan but it's kept up and sent over Sprague quickly to react cassie another attack another kill no they're gonna give it a classical thought that one hit the line Sprague out snow quickly back in going back and forth here couple subs for the Rams Creighton in as well as Noom Noom will serve [Music] McGarrigle first to touch it caste with the bump and it's sent over by snow cassadee first they're set up by wily for Mulligan great play there while he set it up she ran up towards the net set it up behind her Mulligan came around and we're tied at 13 after Mulligan puts it away wily serve sent right back by Tobin Cassidy's their wily she'll set it up behind her it's Gephardt she finds a whole point Beverly [Applause] Beverly with their first lead of the second set since they led this one nothing at the very beginning served from wily Mulligan trying to stuff McHale she does gale tried to keep it up but she couldn't 2-point lead now for the Panthers as Mulligan bodies McHale [Music] [Applause] wilee serving again sent right back by Barry Barry's been doing that a lot very effective player as will get a timeout from Flint classical head coach but Barry been doing that a lot gets it hit right to her and instead of slowing things down and keeping it up she just riffles it right back Beverly with a three-point lead here in the second set looking to go up two sets to zero over the Rams they won the first easily 25 12 one classical though hanging around here they've had as much as a four-point lead in this second set when they led 14 to 10 but right now Beverly with a three point lead to 1613 [Music] you know resume play momentarily Alcindor quickly in for the rims another sir from Wiley I'll send her she's there nice play thereby kept her Gephardt she beats Creighton Britton tried to return that one but Gebhardt was there for the stuff 1713 Panther lead here in the second set on senior night wily with the serve for the long service Creighton Mikael who gets it over Wiley she sets it up Gebhardt playing well another point for the Panthers Gephardt with the last two kills for the Panthers she's played very well was talking with Coach Padovani a few games ago wondering why her minutes were decreased and she said don't worry you know she'll be here down down the stretch we're gonna get her going she was so great last year for Hamilton when omen we've seen it in flashes and we're seeing it here tonight how effective julia Gebhardt can be on any given night as Beverly loses that point to the Rams but they lead 1814 weird play there Wiley tried to bump it over but it stayed on beverly's and Cassidy wasn't sure what to do with that didn't know was gonna drop on her side or the other either way it's Valerio still serving for the Rams as they trail 1815 Mulligan her attack setup sent right back that was Mikael credited with that kill [Applause] so it's 1816 now Beverly still leading but classical creeping up Valerio still serving another good served from Valerio while he's gonna have to send it over she does Mikael first there berry nice stuff at the net she beats out Gebhardt but the ball is still alive Mikael on the outside gets it past the double block I believe that sailed out of bounds point Lynn classical is the ref on the far side has had a hard time making a few calls tonight thank God we have the one on the near side it's been a rough sailing for that one 1817 Beverly still leading but they need to get something going quickly and that's not gonna do it as Cassidy gets stuff they're not sure if it was by Barry or Creighton either way we're tied at 18 in coach Padovani it's gonna call timeout Beverly was holding on to a I believe a three point lead there at one point he's gone back and forth classical had the lead early up by as much as four Beverly then regained the lead they were by up by as much as three but now we're knotted here at 18 it's a best of seven to end this there she's been first to seven to end this second set out of the timeout Valerio still serving for the Rams cassadee sent right back Mary stuffs at home classical regains the lead 1918 Ram lead it was Barry who got well above the net there sent that one home Valerio still serving snows got it gab heart to send it over she does noon Barry Creighton Gebhardt trying to catch the Rams off-guard but L cinders there Barry drops that one and kept up by Wiley it's sent all the way back Creighton she'll set it up from the kale can she get it by a double block she gets it over it Wiley the near side it's Cassidy past the double block past the diving Noom and we're tied at 19 and after winning that point caste will serve as Noonan comes in for McGarrigle [Music] and that serve by Cassidy eats up cinder so Beverly regaining the lead now an ace for Cassidy and another one to straight for the Panthers and Cassidy they lead 2119 they look to put the rams away here in this second set it's been a little bit longer than the first when they won 25 12 we're at 21 19 Cassidy continuing her service jump serve believe that one landed out of bounds it did 2120 keeping it close Mikael out Zorilla in and that serve from Zorilla eats up snow not used to seeing that we're tied here at 21 very crucial can't make many mistakes at this point of such a big game wiley Gebhardt her attack is returned she'll go for another one that one hits the net classical takes the lead 22 21 when I'm looking to take this second set from the Panthers that serve hits a net we're tied at 22 great dig there by cirilla 2222 there he tries to drop it in Sprague keeps it up great job Mike yep art and it stayed in sprigs allowed to hit that twice because her first initial touch was a block noon Creighton kept up there by Gephardt she'll have to send it over on the third she does valaria great play there by noon Gebhardt looks to stuff at home but it's kept up and sent over rival area great volley here probably the best we've seen tonight wily near side for Noonan a nude shot it's a point for Beverly 23:22 great volley and it ends in a noon shot [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Briona snow first-serve Creighton gets it over this is a very big point and it's won by Beverly Sprague maybe a little too much on it off of Noom goes out of bounds we're gonna get a timeout as Beverly has set point here in the second set they lead 24 22 [Music] Beverly ready coming out of that huddle they lead 24 22 second at set point here in the second set for winning the first 25 12 they find them in a much more close second set with the Rams it's 25 to 3 24 22 now in the Libero snow will serve for set point snosurf a lot of power a lot of spin on it has to be sent over it is by Barry that lands inbounds miscommunication by the Panthers leads to that Rams point couple subs for the Rams Newman Creighton out Silva and Gonzales in the six seniors are out there for the Panthers trying to end this second set snow wildly sets it up for Gebhardt she's played well tonight tries to drop it in Barry has to send that over great play by her she does give hearts first there tough play after that has to be sent over it can't work tied at 24 now and now it's a win by two scenario in this second set all the momentum on the Rams side we were trailing 24 22 now it's 22 424 win by two from here on out Noonan Wylie snow her attack kept up by Valerio Alcindor sends it over snow's first there while he's gonna set it up behind her to gab hard she's played well he's kept up Alcindor she bumps it over wiley sets it up again this time for Noonan on the near side a noon shot gets blocked by Barry Beverly has another opportunity added Gebhardt her attack malaria another good volley here by both teams berry hits it into the net in it's set point for Beverly [Applause] 25:24 but to win by two scenario Brianna's snow seemed to forget that situation little caught up in the moment so Sprague will serve excuse me no Gebhardt will so a lot of miscommunication there to end this second set Gebhart valaria sent over set point here for Beverly snow great attack in Beverly wins the second set on a return error from Zorilla a win 26:24 after winning the first 25 12 Beverly's now won 17 out of their last 19 sets third set when we come back here from the Henry Cabot Lodge field house here at Beverly High School you're watching at the Bev cam Sports Network on channel you [Music] you listen all it took was someone who would insist that I just try suddenly everything was turned around because they judge you you tell them I don't need this no one is going to understand unless they've been through it how can they then one day you realize do you feel so hopeless I need help i need help you feel so hopeless then one day you realize unless they've been through it how can they understand I don't need this no one's going to judge you suddenly everything was turned around because they insist that I just try all it took was someone who would just listen we're back here at the Henry Cabot Lodge Fieldhouse at Beverly High School where the Beverly Panthers are hosting Lynn classical on Beverly's senior night they lead two sets to zero Beverly one the first pretty easily 25 12 but neither the wind by two scenario to get past the Rams in that second set 26:24 they eventually did so in very dramatic fashion Jen's senior night for Beverly the seniors that were honored tonight Sydney Wiley Katie Noonan Delaney Sprague Maddy Cassidy Brianna snow and Julia Gebhardt played a lot of minutes together here tonight about twenty seconds away from the start of the third set [Applause] when classical's ready he's waiting on the Panthers Panthers on their five-game winning streak looking for their sixth straight win tonight set this a few times tonight but they've won 17 out of their last 19 sets I can remember all the way back to 2012 my first year in doing this there really had a 28 set losing streak it wasn't just they weren't even winning sets and to get here to possibly have another home playoff game it's incredible in this amount of time how coach Padovani has turned this program around 28 straight set losses now they've won 17 out of 19 definitely a great accomplishment for the Panthers and their success on the court Beverly sending out their Mulligan Wiley snow McGarrigle Cassidy and Gebhardt [Applause] valerio will serve for the Rams [Music] [Applause] [Music] Valerius Irving kept up by Gebhardt tough play at the net for Mulligan and wily for the first point of the third set goes to the Rams second serve from valaria while he will set it up on the outside that says Cassidy point excuse me no I spoke wait too soon as Barry just dropped her arm down there and returned it another attack from Cassie this time she just drops it in and it's returned Mulligan sends it over in three Mikael sets it up it's Creighton her attack will be returned to be a point Beverly hit twice there I think that was Alcindor tied at one [Applause] while he's serving great play there by Zorrilla she keeps it in and McHale returns it wily she'll set it out Mulligan in the middle past the block of McHale to one Beverly Leeds now in the third set their first lead here early in this third set looking for their sixth sixth straight victory and the serve from wily into the net tied here at two in the third set snow Gebhard gets it over malaria believe that falls in no it's out Wylie a wise decision to watch that one as Cassidy will now serve in Noonan enters for McGarrigle [Applause] cassadee jump serve Creighton for berry she drops that one in Berry's had an up-and-down game but a lot more ups and downs I would say Berry has played very well for the Rams couple minor errors but he does that quite a bit drops it in she's got some power two great defensive plays we're tied here at three in the third set no one able to really break away thus far sir from Silva's returned Mulligan returns it herself pretty quickly barely her attack while he sets it up for Gebhardt I think she finds the paint and she doesn't just too far classical leading now for three [Music] [Applause] cassadee while he sets it up noon and on the outside a noon shot that drops in off the net to the ground for for snow now serving serve from snow that could go either way they might have to reserve that and I guess they're gonna go with classical point I guess that's what you do when you don't know the call clearly you just make a decision don't reserve it just make it just make a decision when you don't know it's a good call feel like Tommy Heinsohn more and more as I do these games severe enters he'll serve [Applause] severe seeing his second action tonight first since the first set and that cells out of bounds so we're tied at five again here sent immediately back by severe and out of bounds might see him exit now and we will Fernandez will enter for him six five lead now for the Panthers severe struggled in his time but just like arias you can see they're both players are a little raw you need more time to really learn the game it's definitely not an easy thing that you can just pick up out of nowhere is it's another point for Beverly it's a lot of touch that goes with these games wilee sets it up for Noonan she'll just have to bump it over and that's going to be won by the Rams Lilla out and Creighton will enter serving will be berry her team trill 7-6 her serve under the NAT like I said up and down tonight for Barry [Applause] [Music] [Applause] and my mom my mom is texting me when I was complaining about that call from the refs she's telling me that was in in another Beverly point nine six well thank you for watching mother I'm not saying it was out I'm not saying it was in I'm just saying the referee on the far side clearly didn't know what had happened because he took about ten seconds to decide what he wanted to say while he sends it over attack from Sprague sent right back noon and she'll set it up Wiley Sprague in the middle another attack kept up Wiley she sends it over it finds paint ten six Beverly lead [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] and another point for Beverly classical couldn't handle that serve things are getting out of hand for the Rams right now 11 6 Beverly Beverly has scored 5 straight Noonan still serving sent right back that'll go out of bounds another point for Beverly Beverly's rolling in classical can't cut down on the errors is they'll call timeout Beverly leads 12 6 going into this timeout looking to win their 6th straight game and hopefully acquire a home playoff game again the other games going on tonight Marblehead Zetland English pvd's at Somerville in Woburn is that Winchester tomorrow Swampscott will head to Peabody it's a game Beverly fans should be watching for as Beverley needs Peabody to lose as well as themselves to win their last two to be able to get a home playoff game who burns also at Hamilton Wenham tomorrow and on monday masca will be at North Andover Marblehead will be at Milton and Peabody will play at Hamilton Wenham [Applause] [Music] 12/6 lead for the Panthers as Noonan serves and she makes it 13 6 that's an ace Noonan serve another ace for noon and 2 straight back-to-back 14 6 now [Music] Noonan can't make it 3 she sends that one out of bounds it's 14-7 couple subs as Mikhail and Noom come in for Alcindor and Silva [Music] [Applause] Numan it's snow Wylie snow again neumes there has to be sin over it is wily she sets it up snow from her spot a little too much on it about Avani gonna say a few words to her team trying to get Wiley's attention I believe Cassidy Wylie she sets it up on the outside it's Cassie she drops it in good wherewithal by the Rams player to notice what Cassie was trying to do good play by McHale it's gonna be sent over by the Rams on the third cross court set it's Cassidy can she bury it it looks like berry will return that Sprague excuse me no it's McGarrigle in berry off the wrist it slides down she tried to bump it but took her eye off the ball a little too quickly as Sprague will now serve for the Panthers and another point for Beverly looked like he was going to be returned by Pimentel choosing not Pimentel by Fernandez but just rolled off the wrists as Sprague's serve hits the net and snow enters for her so Beverly not playing the most complete third set here but they're still leading 16 and 9 malaria will serve that hits the net another point for Beverly 17:9 they leave here in the third set on senior night for seniors on the court right now in Gebhart snow wiley and Cassidy two juniors in Mulligan and McGarrigle and another point for Beverly has that surveyed up valaria 1996 points away is Beverly from winning their sixth straight game noon valaria Creighton her attack sails out of bounds [Applause] Panthers about to win their sixth straight I'm gonna go ahead and call it I'll see you guys later serve from Wiley sales out of bounds it's not over yet this will be Beverly's sixth straight win 18 out of the last 20 sets they've won as well only dropping two sets in the entire six-game winning streak they have Stoneham on Monday point will go to classical that was pomp I believe that was Gebhardt either Gebhardt or Mulligan but if Everly can end this regular season on a seven game win streak as tobin for the Rams on crutches now over on the sidelines if Everly can end their regular season on a seven game win streak to carry that momentum into the playoffs and if they can get themselves a home playoff game that'll be something to watch as Cassidy finds paint 22:11 Cassidy continuing to perform in all three sets as Noonan enters for McGarrigle kasia's senior knows all too well that this could be the last time she plays here at the Henry Cabot Lodge Fieldhouse jump serve sent right back snows there Noonan she'll set it up Gebhardt will bump it over snows first there for Beverly Wiley she'll set it up Noonan on the outside a noon shot bashful area she couldn't do anything with it [Applause] Cassidy will still serve malaria berry will send it over drops in but while he's there sent right back by Gebhardt Creighton she'll drop it in why we will set it up for Gebhardt again she gets it past a double Blanc Mulligan at the net she beats out Mary it's 22 to 11 Cassidy still serving Lilan Yin will enter for Zorilla [Music] Creighton Gebhardt Creighton sets it up for Barry she has to redirect in midair good athleticism by her noon and show ends up ends up bumping it over on the third their leaves still leading Barry her attack too much gas 2311 barely leading Cassidy is still serving she might wanna try to close this entire service out Cassidy attacked from McHale she puts everything she can into it past the diving effort of snow [Music] so Silva and Alcindor enter every leading the third set 23 to 12 [Music] wilee snow from her spot gets it in winter's coming look out NEC this Beverly team is ready about to win their sixth straight in in match point we have all six seniors here on the court snow serving out there with Wiley Cassady Noonan spray and Gebhardt one seniors gonna get the final point at home who's it gonna be it's not going to be snow this time around as her serve sails far in its 24 13 and severe will enter for classical he'll serve judging by severes last serve this could end the game we'll see how the junior does his serve Cassidy's there while he tries to trumpeting she does the a bow 25:13 Beverley takes the third set and they win in three straight sets on their senior night this Beverly team keeps on getting it done they've won six straight they've won 18 out of their last 20 sets they won the first today 25 12 the second 26 24 in the third 25:13 these seniors have led this program this far Beverly improving to a 13 in six record they can win on Monday in be 14 and 6 and hopefully with a little help we'll be back here for a home playoff game at some point next week thank you for watching I'm Alex leuco here on channel 22 on the Bev cam Sports Network we might have playoff volleyball for you just around the corner [Applause] you [Music] you

Linda Kaminski and what President had me [Applause] yeah I love you read I'm rushing out the National Service celebrates National School Lunch week a contest for students to develop a recipe featuring all five vegetable subgroups dark green orange red and or colored vegetables and starchy vegetables and how many how would this person selected we got twenty interests [Applause] today special guests but we do breed 13.4 to you which is a first reading of a visual performing arts which is which is the reason we'll bring enough music art rat lock ran anymore so really that's all we're doing for the board policy but we figured since we're gonna bring a poor policy about that why not should shed a light on some of the things happening around visual performing arts and so it comes up good evening I'm president hon Emile dr. Kaminsky board members and cabinet thank you so much for having me here tonight I'm very happy to be here to share with you about our arts focus at Powell it has and continues to be a really exciting journey for our school community as we deepen our understanding and our practice of arts integrated curriculum and arts as curriculums we are doing both at Powell and the results have been fantastic first let me share with you about how we are integrating the arts with our core curriculum we see we are basing our practice at Powell off of the Kennedy Center's definition of arts integration which you see up before you an approach to teaching in which students construct and demonstrate understanding through an art form students engage in a creative process which connects an art form and another subject area and then meets evolving objectives info you might ask what does this really look like well let me tell you the teachers at Powell are committed and creative and let me share just a few examples of what I've seen I have observed kindergarteners absorbing language arts social studies and art objectives at the same time as they work together in groups creating choreography and then performances of their fall poem that they had just written well learn about the seasons first-graders connected science in the art acting out likes the life cycle of a plant while chanting academic vocabulary such as germination and colonization I've come into a class and to film second graders who worked in teams to create a product and then produced a commercial to persuade an audience to buy their product language arts standards and performing our art standards being taught simultaneously third graders at Powell reflected on in study van Gogh's Starry Night as they were introduced to the wonders of the solar system fourth grade students created eight-count choreographed dances in order to learn the difference between right angles acute angles and obtuse angles in math and you've never seen fifth graders more excited about learning their vocabulary words for the week because of how they get together in collaborative groups and have five minutes to create a short skit or tableau to show the meaning of their word by integrating the arts with the core curriculum students are continually honing their 21st century skills creativity collaboration communication and critical thinking we intentionally integrate the arts to deepen and enrich our students learning and when these approaches are used we've seen the level of student engagement just soar so that's the first part of what we're doing at Powell but in addition to integrated arts curriculum we are also increasing our arts as curriculum opportunities we are right now in our second year the ceramics partnership with APU our fourth and fifth grade students get to take two trips to the APU ceramics studio to work one-on-one with a college buddy to create and sculpt and paint the third and final piece is a ceramics art show held in the Powell art studio complete with sparkling cider crackers and cheese and jazz music we also have developed a partnership with a music professor at APU last year every student at Powell participated in world music drumming where they learned about rhythm and beat other cultures and had the experience experiential opportunity to play drum and sing advance smiling students would break out in African song while they were waiting in line for lunch or on the bus on the way to a field trip the benefits of that can't be measured but they're certainly as real as any test score and then this year we have added a young composers class our third grade students are playing piano drums and rhythm instruments as they learn to create and compose their own music and instead of having five to ten fifth graders involved an instrumental band as we have in past years we now have every fifth grader at Powell participating in band and learning to play and read music and I know I don't need to tell you that there are numerous studies that support a strong connection between music education and academic success lastly let me share about our performances Powell had always been known for its special holiday performances of which we have three a year we just finished this one very recently Halloween Christmas and Cinco de Mayo those special opportunities to sing and dance and perform on stage continue and then last year as a school of the arts we added our first full-scale musical Beauty and the Beast we have over 50 students involved in the production which included a main cast and ensemble a stage crew our parents our staff and others from the community came together like never before to make this show happen working on costumes makeup sets props and sound it was really something it's hard to put into words the power of the arts the social emotional and educational benefits are profound I hope that these photos have helped you catch a glimpse of that and if the joy of arts education that's happening at Powell as you can see I brought someone with me tonight by lady Belle our Jerry Omegan he'll sing just a little short clip for you from one of the songs from last year's show and then she's gonna share in her own words what the experience meant to her [Music] [Applause] he-hello I know well actually my name is Megan Hill and I got to be in the musical that we did last year it was a lot of fun on opening night they gave me there was a lot harder than you might think it took a long time to get our voices disarmed right and getting them on a perfect pitch the choreography was difficult to sometimes we would get our placement mixed up when we finally got it it was a Chilean right off of our shoulders we knew automatically from practicing so much you couldn't just do your own thing if you wanted it to look right you had to cooperate and communicate with others and it also took a lot of courage at the end I felt happy and proud of myself I thought this is really something I could do maybe I'll even do it for a job in the future without your approval for both to become the School of the Arts this production wouldn't of happened so on behalf of the students at Powell school I'd like to say thank you for the support of the Arts [Applause] I seen your plate and it was beautiful you did a great job singing and all the props and all the costumes you know you sold me already it's why you're going I wish I went to a teacher page that will be there but you kids did a fantastic job yourself thank you thank you to you and your staff and community for making how much of our school because you guys are the ones that did it because you guys made it happen so just to see what happened with a couple years ago to some small pilot you now see that you're a full-fledged you guys have bought into this it's amazing what you guys are doing them and so I'm just so impressed and so we want to give a pell-eligible to small so there are appreciation for us school the arts dude your outstanding achievement of your students the visual performing art [Applause] [Laughter] [Applause] this is the end of me we walked away sometimes sometimes frustrated we have to deal with some we have to deal with business we have to deal with with with working through some problems at the end of the night but I have to tell you that if you walk away from this boardroom what the feeling that you have now after watching these students come up here and accept these awards with such I mean essentially just being confident confident that's that's what you need to walk away from because at the end of the day that's that's that's what matters so I am super proud of everybody I know I'll be happy to board thank you so much staff students community everybody that's come together to support to support all the work of this district that's that's what this is about so thank you very much for being here tonight and one please [Applause]
