of our high honors graduates three kayhawk students have earned the right of presenting the class address based on their tremendous academic performance at collinsville high school it is my privilege to first introduce mckenna lange daughter of jonna and richard lang hi everyone and thank you for being here today i can remember vividly the last time i saw my classmates face to face exactly two months ago today we sat across from each other as the minutes of seventh hour ticked down the last time we would be in that classroom we joked with each other some with tears in our eyes amid fears of it being the last laugh we would get to share in the presence of each other we hoped that everything would return to normal soon in order to experience the moments we had been waiting for for so long we never expected that it would actually be the last time we would hug each other laugh about mr white saying it's monday all day until it's not or be stressed about one of nuber's many writing assignments stress that us procrastinators always brought upon ourselves before the final battle of our senior year rang i took a picture so i would never forget that moment it was a picture of four girls i had spent the last four years getting to know sharing laughs tears smiles and knowing looks we have all had entirely different experiences from one another throughout high school different interests different successes and different disappointments but while this new challenge kovid might affect each of us in a different way it is a challenge we all have in common it is a challenge to come to terms with the fact that the ending we were promised was ripped away from us and is completely out of our control it is a challenge to miss out on the memories that we were expected to be making right now and it is a challenge to find the closure that we that allows us to move on with our lives and into the next chapter but it is a challenge we will overcome how we face this challenge and every challenge that will come our way in the future is what defines us as a class as a whole and as people individually i am honored to be standing up here today with two other amazing young women an accomplishment i am very proud of but as a runner i know that each individual's race is their own to run and so i say to all of you that you too should be proud of all the things you have achieved no matter how large or small they may seem to anyone else never let a challenge be the end of your dreams let this challenge and all others make you stronger learn to appreciate the little things when all the big ones are gone we have come this far we are adapting we are jumping the obstacles that have been placed in our path we are staring into the face of adversity but we must make the choice every single day to get up and fight through let every day that you get up and move forward be your own accomplishment looking back i wish i had captured more memories and more moments with the people who made such an impact on me as a friend a student and a person as i did with that picture on the last day but for now i will remember the good times and wish each of you an exciting and successful next step in your lives take advantage of the little moments remember that you will never know when that last time will be the last so take advantage and capture those moments permanently allow yourself to be in the moment because you will never get it twice thank you to every teacher counselor coach friend and most especially my parents for shaping me into the person i am today we did it class of 2020 and i could not be prouder to call myself a k-hawk thank you for the thoughtful address mckenna it is now my honor to welcome faith liljagren to the podium faith is the daughter of mike lildragren and kelly lilgrin thank you mr snyder and thank you everyone for joining us today i'm willing to bet that like me the most important lessons you all learned while attending collinsville high school did not occur in the classroom rather they occurred at 1am while you were struggling to finish the homework assignment that was due three days ago they occurred while standing in the student section screaming along to a chant with your best friends they occurred while in the midst of an argument with seemingly the most important person in your life they occurred each night when you were forced to take off the mask you wore every day at school and face the very real struggles of your reality there is the lesson of respect that teaches us to appreciate the authority beauty and meaning behind each and every action a lesson that you must first learn to feel within yourself before you can share with others then the lesson of fight and drive that teaches us the importance of persisting through battles and overcoming hardships there is the lesson of what it truly means to cherish to treasure and adore all the bonds that filled us with so much love and laughter and the events that made us feel as though we own the world but my favorite lesson the lesson of resilience that teaches us to never break and with each fall no matter how big or small to always rise to our feet again though i do not believe maintaining a certain gpa qualifies me any more than any of you i will leave you with this as we are only just beginning this life when you feel as though it is too hard and there are ceaseless obstacles in your way do not panic understand that everything we have endured throughout our four years here has prepared us to face the world with confidence and power remember how far respect will take you how you are equipped with a sense of fight and drive that is relentless how important it is to stop and cherish never forgetting how blessed you are and how no one can take away your ability to get back up again no matter how long you have been down the reality of change is inevitable as we will soon be consumed by the real world though i hope when our journeys to conquer the world begin we do not let them change the good things about us i hope that with each decision we make in life we make them with grace and belief i hope that each and every one of us experience years far greater than these past four but most importantly i hope that leaving and moving on does not mean forgetting who has been up by our side guiding us encouraging us and healing us throughout the way thank you class of 2020 for contributing to my lessons and allowing me the privilege of calling all of you my friends thank you for the wonderful message faith it is now my pleasure to introduce claire ross daughter of joan and john ross thank you faith and mckenna and thank you class of 2020 for the opportunity to speak today going into this school year like each of you i expected to experience all the typical milestones for high school seniors going to sporting events attending homecoming prom graduation and of course stressing out about planning for the future but halfway through the first semester and long before the coveted 19 pandemic i realized that my senior year would be very atypical so only seems fitting that the closure of this year was atypical as well i'm usually not one to share my personal health stories however in october i began to experience serious health issues that led to the diagnosis of two autoimmune diseases when i heard the news i felt hopeless i struggled to keep my grades up and i struggled to find happiness although this seemed to be the hardest time in my life it taught me many lessons that i hope you may find valuable as well i realize that it's okay to not be okay it's okay to feel overwhelmed it's okay to not have everything completely figured out but more importantly i realize that it's okay to ask for help and never forget it's important to take care of yourself so in light of this current pandemic and as our senior class and senior classes all around the world go through this difficult time i want to share the importance of appreciating others and focusing on personal growth and seemingly hopeless times it's tough to get through things alone and it's important to thank people who help you along the way i would not be where i am today and i especially would not be giving a speech if it weren't for my friends classmates teachers administrators counselors and family helping me and supporting me along this journey class of 2020 we got through this school year we can and we will get through this pandemic as michelle obama said don't be afraid be focused be determined be hopeful be empowered i look forward to i look forward to seeing what our future brings and i can't wait to see each of you on the other side and now i would like to welcome our principal mr snyder to the stage thank you for the excellent message claire i am sure you all agree these young ladies were magnificent year at commencement exercises we recognize alumni of collinsville high school who have distinguished themselves after leaving chs mr gary piccola president of the board of education will present this year's chs alumni achievement award please welcome mr piccola to the podium thank you mr snyder today i have the honor of representing the board of education and we are very happy to be a part of this commencement ceremony graduation is definitely one of the highlights of the year for us at this time it is my privilege and pleasure to present the alumni achievement award to mr albert rubets iii mr rubet spent his youth in maryville during the great depression and attended maryville grade school he graduated from chs in 1946 and then joined the marines upon returning home he married rose ramatowski a 1948 graduate of chs and together they have four children seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren mr rubitz received a bachelor of science degree in geological engineering from the institute of technology st louis university in 1953.
he is also a graduate of the advanced management program and the owner president program of the graduate school of business administration at harvard university in 1953 he joined the exploration department of continental oil company better known as conoco as a geophysicist and at age 34 was promoted to chief geophysicist of international exploration and production he was responsible for overseeing oil exploration on six continents and was personally responsible for discovering the major oil fields in dubai as well as what remains the largest gas field in southeast asia he then became executive assistant to the president and later had executive responsibility for integrated petroleum operations in the southern united states conoco's largest and most important profit center in 1972 mr rubets joined texas pacific oil company as senior vice president in 1975 he was named executive vice president and in 1978 became president and chief executive officer of texas pacific he took the company from an asset value of 736 million dollars to 2.3 billion dollars in less than two years in 1980 texas pacific was sold to sun oil company and mr rubets founded her roubette's oil company after personally raising 100 million dollars in a joint venture with international and domestic corporations as well as wall street investment firms mr rubits is a past director of the american petroleum institute the u.s oil and gas association and the independent patrolling association of america he has served an executive capacities and on the board of trustees for many prestigious professional associations and academic institutions he is a knight of malta and a night commander in the equestrian order of the holy sepulchre of jerusalem and a recipient of the alumni merit award from st louis university he was listed in who's who in finance and industry and outstanding young men of america in addition to having such a distinguished career in the oil and gas industry mr rubets is the author of two books maryville illinois growing up during the great depression and a geophysicist memoir searching for oil on six continents it is an honor for collinsville high school to announce mr albert rubets iii as this year's alumni achievement award recipient while mr rubitz was unable to be here in person he was gracious enough to provide us with the following message congratulations and best wishes on your graduation i attended collinsville high school during the world war two years when every graduating class went off to war but when the class of 1946 graduated the war was over and there was no one left to fight i had no money for college and all available jobs were taken by returning servicemen so i joined the marine corps the marines trained men to be the number one fighters in the world they drilled into us there was no objective we couldn't achieve i carried this philosophy with me after graduating from st louis university and joining a major oil company as a geophysicist i set my goal to be the number one geophysicist in the company why settle for second best to achieve my goal i studied technical books and journals every night and took related college correspondence courses i achieved my goal at an early age and became chief geophysicist international exploration and production responsible for worldwide oil exploration activities always go for number one setting goals in life is most important equally important is outlining the steps to reach it any strong persistent desire to get there nothing is more fatal to success than taking one's job as a matter of course a man will succeed in anything about which he has real enthusiasm consider your career as a baseball field with three bases and home plate with home plate the idealized goal let's say high school graduates are all on base one a few will remain there others will take their job as a matter of course and eventually make it to second base some will put in a good deal of extra energy and make it to third base the person who strives to be number one will make it to home plate through continuing education hard honest persistent toil and enthusiasm the surest way to qualify for the job just ahead is to work a little harder than anyone else on the job one is holding down you can be anything you want to be if you have real enthusiasm and set your mind to it you're going to run into many obstacles during your career meet them head on and remember that adversity breeds strength one of my career advantages was growing up in maryville during the great depression our parents underwent difficult times and we children had very few material things but we organized our own activities and came out stronger hardships teaches self-reliance which serves as a shield throughout life life has an abundance of presence waiting for you to open enjoy them and i wish you well in all your endeavors graduating class of 2020 go out and get them congratulations to mr rubits on his prestigious honor and the excellent message to our kayhawk graduates we have several faculty members who will be retiring at the conclusion of the 2019-2020 school year their contributions to the educational environment at chs are deeply appreciated let's recognize these teachers for their dedication to students at collinsville high school alice carroll lisa cleveland back to the podium thank you for the meaningful message dr skirtich dr skirtich has hit the ground running here at unit 10 schools his educational leadership is greatly appreciated i now have the honor of addressing the kayhawks class of 2020. congratulations to the class of 2020 for all of their accomplishments at collinsville high school these graduates have been exceptional to work with the past four years they have definitely left a positive mark on chs and our community in a variety of ways first and foremost these 420 plus students have been an outstanding class academically this group has collectively earned 6.9 million dollars in scholarship awards which is a new school record here at the high school of champions these students eclipsed last year's record high of 5.1 million dollars in scholarship money earned perhaps more impressive is the character of these students which is exemplified by numerous charitable endeavors undertaken by so many organizations clubs and teams our community spirit and generosity certainly set chs apart from any school community i have ever been associated with i know in my heart these young ladies and gentlemen have a great deal to offer society academically as well as socially these students have been well prepared for their transition to college technical school the military and the workforce their preparation has been the result of special relationships and experiences with family friends classmates and faculty graduates watching at home i encourage you to acknowledge the positive support and influence of your parents guardians and teachers each year i share a few quotes with our graduates i have previously referenced famous people such as yogi berra thomas edison mahatma gandhi mike shashefsky and will rogers to name a few individuals today i'll share two quotes the first quote is not attributed to anyone in particular it reads as follows the difference between who you are and who you want to be is what you do the next quote is from walt disney a well-known person across generations walt disney said the difference in winning and losing is most often not quitting graduates do not allow yourself to be a victim of the covid19 global pandemic and the experiences you have missed keep improving yourself at home work school and in the community be a lifelong learner and take action make a positive difference wherever you are graduates i encourage you to be empathetic and gracious to others during good times it is also impaired to be responsible and resilient during challenging times graduates i hope you pursue your dreams and aspirations and make a positive impact wherever you are in closing the collegeville high school class of 2020 has certainly been a pleasure to work with the past four years i will definitely miss this group as they are very special talented and unique however i know these students are eager and ready to meet new challenges and make a positive impact wherever they are kayhawks thank you very much for the privilege of serving as your principal please enjoy the remainder of this ceremony it is now my distinct pleasure to invite mr gary piccola president of the unit 10 board of education to the podium once again mr piccola will address the graduates on behalf of the board of education thank you mr snyder while today may be a highlight for the board this is the culmination of a 13-year journey on your part granted there were a few bumps along the last stretch but you made it graduation is a major milestone in each of your lives and you should all be very proud of yourselves part of what makes being on the board rewarding for me is seeing and hearing about your many academic achievements your athletic accomplishments and your artistic talents but one of the things that really stands out for me is the amount of time that so many of you give to community service i am impressed by the many different ways you find to make a difference in our community some of those activities include fundraising and support for less fortunate families participating in community events such as the empty bowl and sos soup kitchen serving as mentors and role models for younger kayhawk students providing christmas gifts for students and their families collecting used college textbooks to send to africa making blankets for young patients at children's and shriners hospitals and outside of school you volunteer at your churches food pantries and with many other local civic organizations there are many more and i wish i had time to share them with you all these projects are very worthwhile and you are learning the importance of giving back to your community i know your lives are very busy and they will become even more so in the future but i would like to encourage each of you to look for ways to volunteer your time and talents in doing so you will be helping those less fortunate and making a positive impact on your community and along the way you may even make some new friends your contribution no matter how small or large will make a difference on behalf of the board of education we hope that unit 10 has given you a good foundation upon which to build the rest of your lives we would like to congratulate you and your parents our guardians on a job well done and wish you all the best as you leave collinsville high school thank you and at this time i would like to welcome back mr snyder mr piccola your time and dedication on behalf of our students is greatly appreciated thank you very much at this time the class of 2020 graduates will be Volare yeah is DeFazio yes carries we're up to Section six personnel resolutions resolved the superintendent recommends for approval the resolutions as outlined in personnel resolutions under district and high school that is six point two through six point thirteen can I get a motion motion motion mr. Fazio second second mr. van alaire discussion um Dan with the transfer and changes of assignments is that I know we have put in place requests for teachers for assigns is that the same for staff or how are those changes and transfers decided upon teachers and in secretaries I with the secretaries I sent out a request unfortunately we had we had one particular secretary asked for a transfer and then with with have to make some moves and and deleting a secretary position it caused us to have to move a second secretary so that's kind of where we were where we were at to fill what we needed to fill especially with deleting a secretary again to meet those requirements for their their diplomas and their certification stuff we would include them virtually on time any other comments oh yeah I had a question with the summer employment when do we get the thumbs-up thumbs-down about summer appointment those are the people that applied for the position and how we handling that are we definitely doing those programs over the summer the only ones that we're definitely doing right now is esy we will probably do summer school as well on a virtual platform but again it's not going to happen right at this meeting it will probably be the next meeting we're hoping for a little bit more guidance from the Department of Education because obviously it could affect our staffing one way or another for in in district versus at a district okay any other questions all right mr.
Hart led the committee that reviewed the middle school handbook so we need a motion and second to discuss and approve that for the year 2022 2021 second dr. hogs also on the phone we have any questions for him or is there anything you'd like to add dr. hog no yes no yes rape yes Brad yes Anson yes number yes Gorman yes and lastly we'll talk about the motion and second I needed for the high school student parent handbook for 2022 2021 mr.

Stroh is on line to answer any questions we may have regarding that second any questions for mr. Stroh as presented these so well last week we have none rape yes Brown yes dancin yes Humbert yes Nolan yes yes thanks emotions are required and it's gonna prove a little bit we're next school year fuel goods best thanks for sent out to ten companies that's recommended we go to the lotion do you more info on that Deena or I guess after the Martian chart um just exactly what you said ten companies were sent information two of them were new to us this year four companies turned in bids the the bottom three the lowest bidders we're all within $500 of each other so it was really really really close this year so that's always nice to see yeah Lauren company oil company was the winner they they were the lowest price bidder and then you should have all the summary recaps and then it looks like we gave you last year's information as well was there anything that was surprising in the total cost from this no it's pretty typical year after year it's the same there's it was there were the two new people that we added only one of them actually submitted so it was kind of weird that someone was reaching out and didn't turn anything in so I don't know if they didn't know where we were located and but yeah it's interested it's nice to see that we really get at least you know four so we have some comparison and and the fact that they were so so close it's it's sad for the the losers but [Music] yes yes yes yes I need a motion with a permit for next year for 2020 2021 the people said was sent out to seven different companies we did have we received bids from three companies Varitek paper was the lowest responsible bidder and they they won the bid by 135 dollars that's how close it was companies gave us two options option a and option B option a is another regular print white paper option me it was a paper that contain more pulp and turn color over time but since we have to maintain records for so long it made sense to stay with option a how much how much paper did we have left as a reason for not being willing little nine weeks they still have quite a bit of paper left that's why this order is so much smaller like this total order is 47,000 where last year's paper order was over 70,000 okay it was the supply this last year last year pen wasn't a midland paper corporation that had the bid yes last year was Midland it seems like we go back between quite a bit yeah and we've been happy with both companies we've even been happy with with even a couple of companies we haven't bid but would have received the bid previous years so but Midland is typically Midland imperative seem to be the two most competitive recently any other questions from yes Hansen yes yes yes babe yes Gorman yes thanks to my second record to discuss and improve the Mid Valley special education classroom use of agreements this is an annual resolution that we've got to sternly have more information of us as president Berman said this is an annual resolution the the cost of the rental space for our various buildings what we pay each other we're all members of the co-operative so it does it has not changed in years it's the same exact fee that we're going to receive for the use of our classrooms at Central High School for Knowles that we received last year and by the same token earth on what we're paying and to use the rooms and other school districts and apartment family will be the same as dwell all right I don't think there's any question so Johnson yes number yes Nolan yes you know yes babe yes yes yes all right last action item we need a motion and second to discuss and approve the resolution to modify graduation requirements for the 2019 to 2020 school year to align with the emergency rules established by is B so moved second second well the resolution is included in your board packet and dr.
Fazio second second second mr. Bell discussion I know we've always gone back and forth with the with the calendar has that been approved through the Union have you yeah that that's we're in this year's calendar so that's the one you're approving that's the gift that's just okay that's the kickback days any other questions I do have a question about the 8.2 okay and high school graduation mm-hmm how how is that going to happen I saw it I see it outlined but how the past 10 weeks I've been dealing with ceremonies and rituals and this is a ceremony and ritual how can you ensure safety well again we're gonna follow the executive order that the governor put out acting executive order 107 and what we're going to do is we can control our facility so we controlling our facility to only have the required amount of people that we need to safely do will be to keeping the six-foot social distancing the masks and and movement through the facility the facility being the football field correct okay and it's one student and four members of their household of their household people who are living with them yes okay how how will that be controlled how will you ensure that none of them are under quarantine then what what happens off of the property because I've been this has been my daily dilemma for almost ten weeks it's not what happens on our property it's what happens afterwards who will ensure that one car leaves and one car comes in who is going to be there to ensure that the students and the families that have not seen each other for three months or longer aren't gathering aren't maintaining social distancing who will be responsible for that we will have staff we will have a staff member on the street to ensure that people stay in their cars until the till their appointment time and then they can enter the facility okay does that staff member count as the under tent he does not because he's not in the facilities outside the facility but it's part of our gathering no it's party yes this has been my day in and day out every funeral directors and it's I'm sorry it's been part of what we've been dealing with day in and day out who will ensure it's it's 10 or under inside the facility 10 or under yes you don't feel that there's an obligation outside on crusader way I just said I would have a staff member outside I appreciate a way to make sure people don't leave their car until the appointed time all right while it is observing executive order 107 social distancing and under tend guidance I feel that it is violating the administrative order 20 24 and 12 which specifically talks about ceremonies and gatherings I again our plan has gone through the county we're not the only school district that that is planning to do something along the lines that we're doing the guidance that we've been given has been pretty clear to make sure that that we adhere to executive order 107 and we also have the blessing of the Bamber police department for this particular idea that we have graduation and well that well the police department will they will they send people to also help direct traffic if there's an issue with cars building up by this I'm hoping to have the SRO out I proceed away to ensure the social distancing with the with the appointment times I figure having our SRO up there it gives us both not only one of our staff members what a police officer that will be there inside the facility will have will be able to manage what we do inside the facility how many district representatives will there be and inside the facility in Crusader within the gates of the football field you will have the videographer and you will have three District three at least three district members at that point in time at least or at maximum at least the maximum I could have this for wear what about custodial staff I don't think I'm gonna need it the plan says there'll be custodial there will be sanitation in between who's good again I don't think I need sanitation in between that's that's my point they're walking across the stage and they're picking up a a jacket so they're only touching the Diploma jacket and taking it with them so what is there to sanitize the area will be sanitized by the custodial staff prior to the next family entering the area that's G yes I understand that and that was a key so we need to do any sanitizing but at this moment I'm I don't think we need to do any sanitizing if do that we'll be the fourth person for the district I had a question about the timing and the flow it says that there's gonna be appointments for each student throughout the whole week so that gives me an impression that it's not as though we're gonna have the stream of a hundred people trying to do this in one day we're spreading it out over the course of a week or so is that correct so there's people on crusader way it should just be just a handful you yeah you would think I mean we're spreading it out so we don't so we don't get a congestion of people or a line of people waiting to do this we're giving out specific appointment times so this way we can control and monitor the number of people who are getting there what are the total number of graduates that were we're talking about hundred thirty hundred thirty and you think one week is sufficient I thought we I thought we had like a week and a half was um and put together a schedule so I think he has it down to a week mm-hmm actually I think he has it down to four days everybody is comfortable with the potential exposure of a hundred and thirty times four well it's voluntary for the student and their parents whether or not they want want to do this that's optional on their part I'm completely comfortable being there I told that I'm completely comfortable and if that doesn't want to be there who doesn't have to be but I will be there how will appointments get me do the students get to pick the time is it alphabetical it's gonna be I believe how will we then if it's alphabetical how do we make sure that the I mean I presumably we're doing this so that the students and their families you know there are four people that come with them get to do it but if they have to go to work at their allotted time is there a way that we'll be able to you know that they'll be able to say hey can i reschedule for a different time where am i you know parents aren't working or anything like that I'm not exactly sure we'll be able to accommodate that at this point in time we have to do it outside we can't do it inside so we're really limited to a certain amount of time to do it so we can give the video people enough time to put the video together so we're gonna do the do our best to accommodate where we ten but I can't meet guarantees at this moment in time my only question when that is is how do we like that people who like how do we know for a fact that someone there who has cocoa and we can't and so you can't really say much to them because violation again if you if you have kovat and you've been identified by the health department you were basically stuck at home they're they're not to leave homes again I'm not even sure if they would be well enough to leave home if they had code that in terms of people who've had Cove it doesn't really matter if they had it and they've recovered I don't think that really matters you're inviting the potential for community spread I recognize the importance of rituals and ceremonies it's been something I've been dealing with but can it be delayed there was talk about liability later in in the year in the fall to bring the graduating class back what's what's the level of liability versus September October November versus now where we're still under an executive order that is prohibiting this there have been outdoor funerals that have been shut down outside does not make you immune I'm sorry I don't like this I understand and I understand what you're saying but at this point in time we've done our best due diligence we've sent our stuff to the Department of Education which is said as long as we're in line with executive order 107 that we can do this so we're trying to put something together for our seniors that make sense that's safe that we have the opportunity to afford them to walk across the stage videotape that and put together a complete video of an entire graduation so they would have something so they don't feel like they completely missed out on everything in the end of their senior year so that was our goal that's what we've proposed that's what we've advocated for that's what we seemed to have been okayed to do from the department we're not the only school districts that's doing it and you have a governor who keeps going on TV and says he's not rolling out in-person graduations at this point in time either so all the mixed messages are out there and I think that right now the sensible thing to do is to prepare something like this that adheres to the social distancing the masks and do something that that we can do that safe and affords our kids the opportunity to walk across the stage there's a letter dated May 9th that says it's prohibited except if it's strictly virtual now there is no definition for strictly virtual but this to me falls under in person and and I appreciate and recognize the lengths that you've gone through for social distancing and keeping the the touch apart but it doesn't seem like it's adhering to the letter from Callahan that's dated May night no more nor the memo from the Department of edy dated the eighth I can only give you the information that I have if you feel as though that we should not do this then I would say vote no on 28.2 okay do you have something that says this is okay you it imply you implied you did but I have two things that say no again I can only tell you the conversation I've had with the Executive Sous Pretender any other discussion are we planning on doing anything for eighth graders or is that just our plan was what we do with high school the following week we would do with eighth grade up at the football field but again if 8.2 goes down then we're probably going to do nothing but virtual which is the guidance from Callahan and the Department of it 8.2 is our new pandemic communicable disease plan with us from the Department of Education which includes all the stuff that's in there so again I've had conversations with the executive county superintendent I have spoken to him on numerous occasions about this as you've seen in the newspapers there are a number of districts that are already rolling this out and it's been in the paper okay it s been on nj.com and it's been in the newspapers again this is this is what we were told we were allowed to do as long as we stay within the intent of the executive order 107 which is also in the plan and it's clearly stated in the plan because that's what Roger Jenks the executive county superintendent wanted in our plan so we can be crystal clear that we're following executive aside which I believe his last statement was they're recommending virtual a-again the department's not recommending anything departments I'm going back to executive or 107 which was in the plan that we reviewed just going back to the sanitizing aspect I I understand that you feel like you know they're picking up their diploma jacket and walking away but the sanitizing seems incredibly critical you know what do they sneeze you know they're picking it up from some sort of service what if they use these on that surface or you know just anything with with germs just seems very unsafe to not sanitized at all I mean it just I mean we're allowed to go to the grocery store but you know there's supposed to be a continual cleaning of you know how to surface this and things like that so I just want to know what the rationale is behind you know thinking that sanitizing would be optional between what what are we cleaning well I think what is I think what you say is like the table whatever table it is that you're putting the the the diploma on have the potential I'll wipe it down in between not all right yeah so that's so whatever surface is that where between your touch and what they're picking it up as long as it's cleaned in between I think you know just to be abundantly cautious I think that would be that idea handrails and that as well will be wearing a mask yeah that's the requirement they're gonna have to wear a mask what do we do if they show up without a mask we just try they don't enter the facility they go home what if they relate to their appointment if they miss their appointment they missed their appointment any other question I appreciate what what's trying to be done and I think it would be amazing I just don't feel that it's it's safe community spread still being an issue right now it's slowing down but it's still very real I'm seeing it every day then my suggestion is that the board vote no on eight-point-two Mike can we get a roll call mr.
Magan was working with her legal counsel to get that together dr. Mannion do you have anything else to share regarding this resolution the resolution only pertains to our 12th grade students we did not make adjustments for other grades all of the state required courses for the second semester of the 12th grade year based on the governor's executive order what if it gets in the way of kids graduate plan on graduating in December is there any allowance given to that for juniors that plan to graduate next year for December correct we have not made an allowance for that through this resolution oh look at that for next year if we have students that have and impede them yeah I just I know we it's not a ton but again for those who it might affect kids plan ahead for that usually so thank you any other questions for us sir yes yes dancin yes yes we have a few things information will try to create a video clip that highlights areas for curvy to celebrate and share with the board the next best story continuous improvement and she has a presentation good evening Board of Education dr.
