al al al al ok al understand a a 4 and for this pú wish a happy retirement and there are two people [Laughter] he is speaking with respect to everyone, he wishes them health as well, Gladis Cooper is also thanking those who are retiring, he thanks them for all their dedication. Thank you very much and for everything they did in the public schools of Hurez, they wish them blessings for their work that they have done here in the schools. The main one is giving thanks to Miss Dona regarding the art school, he says that she is one of those who has the strongest skills, she is a leader and also part of the art leadership in Denver, she always does her job more than what is supposed to be done, it is an honor to have her. Ah Miss Dona says thank you, she also wants to recognize all the teachers, all the teachers she has worked with for 20 years, she sincerely wants to thank them for their trust, their guidance, and the ideas they gave her to do a better job for their children, the trust they have had in her, for what She works with the children, also with Principal Christen from Morris Street School.
I you don't have to stand but could we just also take a moment of silence to remember Rashad Brooks and his feeling on yesterday at some point we hope that these tragedies will stop happening and that a people would learn to respect people for what they are and that people will start abiding by the law and doing the right things and treat each other like we would like to be treated so could we just have a moment of silence for mr. Brooks and his family and everyone else that we have lost in these trash thank you all so very much roll-call cake joseph britain retouch the Levski cake caneta here Gladys Cooper yeah Lauren Daly I'm not sure she's on here all right Joe de Silva present Catherine Hodgson here Richie Ginelli here Cathy Molinaro here al Russo here Amy's Polina I did not get an OK from Lauren is she on here and I missed her ok next on the agenda dr.
so what I would like to report out is that we were in close session prior to starting this meeting we took two actions the first was by unanimous vote the board took action to deny the appeal for a complaint to be heard in person by the board we also with regard to an anticipated litigation the board voted by a vote of five to zero which was unanimous to pass a resolution to reject a claim brought pursuant to the Tort Claims Act anyone else anyone out there who is doing wish to make an announcement okay it looks like just I wanted to make clear that during this meeting there are no scheduled items from the floor and therefore if anything that was submitted to us to appear on items from the floor tonight they will not be heard tonight but at our next meeting where there are items from the floor on the agenda this particular meeting of all comments from the public have to pertain to the agenda okay thank you for clarifying our first item is going to be then our consent calendar are there any board members who wish to pull items from the consent calendar okay anyone Cathy here tom nope no consent item to be pulled okay may I have a motion into the remainder of the consent calendar okay motion by dr.
román Gina okay mrs. Abreu here mr. Capano here mrs. Fredo yeah Mr Carr sigue dr. Pantoliano mr. ring court mr. Russo mr. Shelley here Teddy here okay mr. román Gina okay thank you very much just a couple of items I'd like to go over before we look at the consent agenda I just would like to make mention that you know since we were out of school since March we've been giving a grab-and-go lunch at school number three for our free and reduced students and we've gotten permission and we're going to be partnering with the borough to continue that through the end of August so we will be promoting it to our parents and students who have been receiving bad light and I think I mentioned last meeting about 1100 lunches per day and fortunately we'll be able to continue that through the summer Mostafa know I don't know if there's anything you want to add to that that's pretty much as mr.
Ellis and a good evening Madam President Pro Tem board members superintendent doctor Kellis colleagues so the first of this public hearing the first agenda item on this public hearing is the revision to our current FY 1920 budget so we are revising this budget so as we mentioned last month the Auditor General created some flexibility allows us to revise our budget one more time so we love it so much we're gonna do it again and this is the final budget revision because the year ends next week and it is just for one of two small things one is putting in the budget for the Esso relief I think last month I did tell the governing board that we would also include our Aoi summer school that that revenue actually is coming next year so I misspoke a little bit on that so that we're not adjusting a revenue based on that will revise December's budget and include the Aoi summer school this is just for the SSR funds which is at about a million dollars it's federal funds it's in a I think it's fun 326 so we've added to that budget we also have now put in the Student Activities budget knowing that it's requirement we've added the Student Activities budget under the other funds on page six of a so to small very minor changes and then also as per the public hearing any public comment they were supposed to email me by 5 o'clock but I received no public comment on this agenda item and so that is the end of my presentation and and I will have nothing additional to add when it comes up for vote later on in the action portion of this so typically when we have a live face-to-face meeting we take a moment to allow any public comments I'm at because of the nature of this online meeting notice was giving previously for comments to be submitted early and so since there are n n we can proceed through the agenda to item C excuse me we have actually agenda item number 3 thank you area so we got one more public hearing so normally we only do one public hearing we're due two public hearings right now and so if it's all right I'll keep going on with that yep go ahead all right so so this public hearing is now not this current year we're talking about next budget year so the fiscal year 2021 last board meeting the governing board approved the proposed budget there is absolutely no changes from the proposed to the adopted so this is the exact same thing so I've attached all the documentation or actually married oh and Ava have attached all the documentation once again this is also for the agenda item if there was any public comment they were to email me by five o'clock today I received no emails to talk on this agenda item and so since we've already gone through the budget and and all of our IBA requests and everything I will just stand for any questions thank you very much does anyone have any questions okay so the next agenda item we have is c1 the approval of the agenda form so I'll make a motion to approve this agenda form consistent with governing board policy and temporarily suspend any policy with which this agenda may be inconsistent second this is Tracy this is Tracy second thank you okay I didn't know if your well you can go ahead and call for the vote I'm sorry so yep we'll go ahead and vote okay waiting for I'm sorry for some reason my my votes not popping up I'm I'm in favor okay thank you okay motion passes next we have item d1 motion to approve the consent agenda get there okay motion to approve the consent agenda items as presented second this is Tracy okay go ahead and vote I'm in favor thank you and that motion passes as well all right so first action item discussion is up one recommendation to approve the 2019 2020 revised expenditure budget so I will motion to approve the 2019 2020 revised expenditure budget a second um second but I did have a quick question for mr.
and Mr Holland in that teacher salary increase government increase uh 20 by 2021 that 84.12 did not cover per all of our teachers raises correct I'm sure miss Martin's kind of has that idea too so even though that's what we were given doesn't mean that that's what covered our races because a portion yes because of the portion the difference was placed in our classroom site allocation so right now we are planning or trying to anticipate being able to cover all of that out of our operating budget without having to tap into those 301 dollars unless it's necessary and I'll explain a little bit more of that when we get there yes ma'am and just a quick clarification also on that 20 by 21 that was also based on the 2017 salary not any future salary increases it was based on what their salary was in 2017 so as we've continued to give increases the governor's 20 by 20 stayed stagnant based on their 2017.
I've let her work with the children and also share her knowledge with other schools. Art is something that captures the children's attention, and besides being a special class, it's what children sometimes need. It's a foundation for education, and it's necessary. Through art, one enjoys it, and it's also about enjoying art, but also with everything that's going on. It's also about expressing what I feel, the feelings that are happening with what's going on now. It's important for students to have those connections, their social and emotional side. And thank you for all your support, Doctor. Thank you. It's an influence. What you do is n't considered something extra, but as part of the work in children's education. We greatly appreciate having worked on the board or in the public schools and all the things you do among the elementary schools. Everyone is excited about all the work you've done.

Kaiser to approve the consent calendar second by Linda hubby we will have a individual vote all those in favor dr. Kaiser yes Tom hey I need Robinson I'm okay Griffin I that is passed unanimously okay moving on to our discussion action calendar our workshop has to do with the local control accountability plan and coping 19 and that would be tina tina key on the typical year this would have been the board meetings and how are L cap approved for the next year in lieu of a traditional L cap this shared CDE is asking all school districts and charters to have the board approve and Kovac 19 operations written report for the school district or the school Chico unify completed that was shared a meeting and we'd like to bring it back today it has to be approved in conjunction with a budget before it goes to the county so once that happens today after after our presentation here with it I will submit it to Jeannette Spencer and Travis Haskell and be silly it was interesting because I was rereading it today one thing to add it seems like so long ago that we've had the phases because this report really chronicles the process of how we served students and families and staff and in a way it seems like forever ago and then looking forward as to the next piece which that we'll talk about really been a journey so before the board approves it let's go ahead and talk about the other let's kind of pull up another this slide so you want to continue to have these coming updates for you guys there we go you go to the second slide okay so what we're doing out for today we wanted to share what we're sending basically out for survey tomorrow afternoon I'm not going to take a look at it and if you guys believe that we need to make any changes let it let us know but we're going to be sending a survey out to our parents that one out to our see you ta and CSEA about these different models that we're looking at we also did a video today and that's what was fantastic with that today with me we wanted to actually talk about these different models that we're looking at because we were afraid we just sent the models they win clearly understand so there'll be a link to the video explaining the models that goes along with the survey will be one for elementary parents and OB one for secondary families so the first thing that's we want you to know that these safety guidelines will be included to any model that we have that we have going forward I'll be talking briefly about three different models that we will be going to and all these skylights won't fit under those three models and they will also fit under the models at Ted and John we'll be sharing with you guys today so these are some of the things that maintenance and operation and the district office has been working with to make sure we have these guidelines under sanitation you can see we're talking about me that hand sanitizer dispensers that they're putting in all of our classrooms they're over three quarters of the way there I believe that they've done a good job of getting Miami hand sanitizers units place in common areas of the school grounds so we want possibly also at the entry and exit points out by sporting events that we have 42 this will have them out there also Marcus French is doing a very good job of giving this price for those and so we will be looking purchases also disinfecting will be completed daily on a high-volume touchpoints so we want to make sure on hand railing specimens of the schools those type of places where kids are always touching will be making sure we're cleaning those throughout the campus cleaning potent bolts ensure proper disinfection will be on going review and modification as needed dusty cooper and eric german monday did a great job of presenting what some of the models that they're looking at their custodians cleaning and it's microfibers that they can use on their floors and the desk and it's so much quicker for them and they're purchasing a washing machine so you can watch.watch those every time every night and they don't need to be dry so it's pretty clean operation that they hope that they're doing they're gonna be having the custodians try now correct on that kevin so we are looking at different ways so we can quickly have the rooms clean because now before we gave them 15 minutes 15 and 19 minutes to clean each room now that happened to do a little bit more in those classrooms so we're still trying to develop way so they can keep it under those timelines the personal protective equipment PPE chief identified will require connected facial covering as mandated by the state or local agencies right now the governor says in any public ages they have to have a mask on when they come so we are public agency so our students at this point we're not in that might change when school comes in august but right now with plenty of the fact that students and teachers will have to have some type of teepees available for them food handlers and healthcare work staff we're all require personal protective equipment to do that normally health screening we will be putting out signage is around about a pocket about six foot this is the proper social distancing also tiny if your child make sure you do a wellness check before your child comes out to our campuses if your child and another twenty four or higher please keep them at home and let us know the sign inches around we also will have students and belts will also screen themselves at home we're going to ask them to do that and we're gonna ask our parents that do temperature checks that'll be part of the wellness checks we also will have our temperature gauges available on our campuses also right now I believe that they're recommending for for school we have a network every teacher to have one in their classroom at this point and social distance the assignments will be in place and we're also looking right now at different things that we could possibly put in on our ground square to remind them about so this is sixty looking at those right now and again classrooms furniture and equipment we will try to arrange them that have as much social distancing as possible all right thank you and then also I absolutely understand these guidelines make sense however I'm just curious what we have ballpark on what they cost us as a district and is there any money coming yes thank you I should see an update on those face mask requirements for kids and any child with a hearing or speech problem they are exempt as is their teachers so that the sign language he can unimpeded the other thing was for special ed kids who find the wearing of a mask to emotion we have said they're exempt as well there's we also looked into the face shields we need Marcus French again and our purchaser found I think that she just right now that we're fine we still haven't looked but I think we're gonna go ahead and order a thousand of them there are four dollars and fifty cents apiece and cabinets again with the budget is Popkin about things that we can cover that we're also looking at these more disposable masks I believe they're running and give us another one forty nine cents forty nine cents each so again if you think in twelve thousand four hundred kids you know that we're supplying them another one we're looking into the fog right now we're meeting once into its different types into us they range from anywhere between $1 and $2 apiece so one of the suggestions that we were talking about in that services with an idea maybe it that first we will possibly will supply 5 baht masks that make an egg wash home you know say we're one Monday and we're another and maybe they won't believe me like they did it it's just one things you know again I heard this this morning that are expecting additional either clarification or legislation and these would be legislation confirm the CVE bed additional clarification and requirements in regards to expected to wear a mask the rumor again mrs.
Roma Jeana the grab-and-go is going to your points been extended through August 28th and that will continue at number three school and we will be also serving reck students at number six school between the dates of July 7th and July 31st okay and I guess there'll be the the borough will advertise such correct okay I did want to mention I had emailed the board that you know this past April we were supposed to have seven students that were traveling to Eastern Europe you know that each year many of our students travel to different countries they've been to Italy they've been to Spain London so on and so forth and with Cova 19 we rescheduled it for August because at the time the company that we were contracted with was not giving refunds but since then because I guess what's continuing to go on the company has agreed to give refunds so all of the students who were going to be going in August that trip is canceled obviously because of the situation but all of the students if they weren't refunds can either get a full refund for the trip or they can receive a credit if they want to use Italy at a later date so that's good news as you know last Wednesday June 17th school officially ended for our students this coming Monday June 29th we're going to start our virtual summer school and we're going to be working with students pre-k through Grade eight basically pre-k through six is a remediation program grade seven and eight our middle school program offers students who need the credits in math English and possible some electives and we also run a high school program a grad point program which is a computer assisted Pro for students who are may have failed the course or in need of additional credit so all of the programs that we usually run in person we will be running live this summer to accommodate both our parents and our students so that begins on June 29th and ends July 24th and I'll keep the board apprised of how about how that program is running we're also running a summer enrichment program virtually each summer in August we've run programs robotics la marine life and we decided to offer those programs again virtually this week where we're in the process of registering students for that program and apprising lis I didn't think the registration would be as good as it is but it's been very active this week so it looks like all of the classes that we're going to be offering will be offered because we will have enough students in each class a copy of that brochure for parents that might be listening is online and you can still register by contacting school number six but that program will one will run a week in July in two weeks in August just as a reminder our virtual graduations this Monday night June 29th we will be running the middle school graduation and then on June 30th we'll be running our high school graduation on July 8th and 9th we're in the process of planning a live celebration and we will get information we'll be going out to the parents of 8th graders and of seniors probably this week at the beginning of next week from mr.
Hicks yes did what did you and I was moving papers as you were talking what was to be revised in December for our next agenda item the 2021 budget way after we adopted our AO I online summer school that we did in June that we it is generating an ADM in that ADM because we don't know the final to the end of July we will add that to our December budget revision thank you that's I was moving papers and I didn't quite catch what you said in regards to the arrow I thank you very much that was all I have anyone else have any questions our discussion on that oh did you get a second I did not I I will second okay all right so we will go ahead and vote I'm in favor yes thank you and that passed okay so the next is item f2 recommendation to adopt the proposed budget for fiscal year 2023 2021 if anyone have any questions or discussion on this item there wasn't anything additional that needed to be no okay no no none for me this is Traci okay I will go ahead and make a motion to adopt the proposed budget for fiscal year twenty twenty three twenty twenty-one second this is Traci you and we will vote on item up to miss Pritchard are you love me I'm having a hard time how do you mean yeah we can hear you now did you say your vote for this last item F - yes sorry thank you motion passes miss - more if I could just jump in real quick with the passage of these two items there are some forms the need board member signatures I think Brenda has sent out or will send out an invitation to sign those if at all possible tomorrow if we need to send a courier to your home or workplace we can certainly do that if you're unable to come into the office to sign those thank you I'll be in tomorrow for sure same here this is Don this is Tracy yes thank you and I'm I'm working tomorrow so I've already made arrangements with Louisa okay okay next item is g1 I will make a motion to adjourn the meeting again who said second Kristine Pritchard I'm sorry Richard that's right thank you mr.
it is not compounded correct Madam president members of the board that is absolutely correct and also too from the 2017 average teacher salary we know that in 2017 Higley Unified School District was already ahead of the average teacher's salary and so the 20 by 2020 doesn't stretch as far for Higley as it may for some other school districts whose average teacher's salary was below the the state average so that makes a difference in in calculating each individual teacher's salary and District's average salary right because it's not higley's salaries it's Statewide average teacher salary did you have something Mr Glover no I just wanted to people to understand that it's the average teacher salary not the average Higley teacher's salary and that varies the further you get outside of Maricopa County I just saw you shaking your head I wanted to make sure we were saying thank you for that clarification yes ma'am any questions on that okay so since we're on the topic of average teacher salary that is our next slide so again this is a new requirement that started back in 2018 so now all of our average teacher salary information will be posted on the district's website as well as provided to the Department of Ed right now we estimate our average teacher salary for 21 to be 59 212 dollars the average salary teacher salary for 20 was 56 568.
Thank you, Doctor. The board members also say thank you for all the work Miss Dona Bosworth has done. We are continuing with the agenda of public participation. Due to the nature of the COVID-19 crisis and the limitations of technology, members of the public who are residents of Denver are invited to send their comments or questions to the Denver Board of Directors email. They are reading some questions from the public. They are connecting with students who work hard in schools. They are talking about the meaning of having the honor of being on the honors list in schools. The other participants, the community, are also expressing their opinions. They are talking with high school principals who have done a good job. Students should always be aware of the work they do and value it. Please consider the children who truly deserve it in the honors role, the children who really belong there and do well in their work.
self thank you I will say our board the Arts has really influenced all the boards ever since I've been there there is an integral part of what we do we don't consider an extra it's integrated and I think the board is they're really mindful to respect the work and the role of plays in educating the whole child for us it just been great to work at the port that really appreciates and allows all of you to do the work that you do I know you serve as a planning person for all of our dates at the elementary and you guys really take on so much extra work people don't even know it but it's greatly appreciated Chris has just been just a static what you work and it's great to have you represent the Arts for Dan berry so with a heartfelt congratulations thank you dr.
barber from sentence none at this point but that all staff would be required to when interacting with students but then students and parents would have the option of whether or not to so that's one of the things that's being bantered about at the state level right now but again you know there's a lot of money on the line and there's a lot of decisions that have to be made fairly quickly with a complete lack of information coming to us as to what will be mandated what will be required and I will say it publicly it is very frustrating and then to be assured materials like we were you know promised that would be getting personal protective equipment for students and staff but it's on back order so you know it's trying times as frustrating times but we will absolutely do everything we can [Music] we see some challenges with anywhere ages from market is putting them on all the way up toward seniors not wanting to put the money pretty school we're talking preschools this morning about just that was the topic that came up was putting masks on and nurses actually have some activities that Kathleen is going to do it Kathleen's you know is in touch with all appearance the incoming preschool spins and she's going to walk through some of those things the nurses are going to teach some of the teachers there the preschools those activities they're gonna walk through some social stories and any times where the kids kind of know what to expect and what's going to be happening with it also so I mean our preschools are off to a good start of trying to prep them what that's going to be like having more masks with the next 2-3 month the three models that we are going to be offering is social distancing is not mandated in the classroom we will offer a normal traditional learning just like we did pre coded with the safety guidelines that we've shown you to the slide before our traditional model the next one is our Oakridge academy online learning model that's just full full online where they get curriculum 6012 wood ingenuity KP 55 wonders and i ready and the district to another stunt some other curriculum so that when the name wall to meet with the teacher one day week to get updated to make sure that we've been already having that model for three years already so during the pandemic they were doing business as normal during that time the blended learning model we've also had four six through 12 when we will be adding it for our TK through five now it's a blended learning so on a secondary level if somebody will student wants to take two two classes that have traditional school and for an old bridge they may for reverse it they could take for a divisional school two to Oakridge some people did not because they wanted to go to work and then beyond those things available or they wanted to accelerate in math and they read they took that model elementary level if they want to go for the first couple hours during the day and they may be comfortable recesses of lunch and so they want to pull their kid they could give me the English and math instead of saying normally to be taught in the morning under this model they can get the rest of their enrichment and science and so that's the blender those are the three models if they say do everything you can to keep them safe without having to do this social distancing six for the partnering in the class if we get mandated by the state or local agency that we do have to do social distancing inside the classroom that's the one we've been working with our teachers and our admin and our special ed and our counselors to come up with different types of schedules for that instance I'm going to kind of have head first talk about elementary and then John talked about like Jay said if we have to go to a social custom model within the classroom they'll enter easily I've been talking a lot about doing one version B and am/pm so half the students are there if you think back to old school bird needs to kind of where it would be something in that thing where half the students are there in the morning loosely break time between cleaning whatever we can do those infants to make sure we're ready for the afternoon group or whatever the afternoon session may look like teachers mother discussion with that 70 teachers kind of chiming and kind of talking the last few weeks so what's good or not good about it teachers likely to make like they can see their students every day those kinds of things the other one is called trading gain schedule so half the students might come in on Monday Wednesday Friday this week the other halfs coming in Tuesday Thursday they're for a full day but they're only in they're all taking days and then the following week I'm flip-flop so out of a 10-day period the students would be in there with their teacher for five of those days and kind of a continuous alternation with those things and then teachers would be sharing the work kind of ministries at home so there is supplement for the other there would be an expectation this is the elementary model and John's going to go over some of the options and they're looking at average secondary so we're going to allow those families to survey advantage do an ampm versus every other day model and again these models are not anything that we're extremely happy about because again we're cutting their time in half in front of the class but it's so much better than the social distancing we had to do when we came out of their marks where they only saw them during Zumba these are see him for half the time and so if you say like a Monday they got two days where the curriculum and we're talking today when they saw him again on Wednesday you would want to spiral back to make sure that they have complete understanding of what they were supposed to learn for those two days at the beginning of their Wednesday because again they're only having 10 to 10 to 13 students in their class so they're able to spiral back check for understanding to make sure every day let's start the next few days lessons it's not ideal but we think and if we have to go to the assistant we already talked to Kevin Moretti and Charlie that will we'll be out of the Orion services because they also requested it from us on the first of August of first week to August above the normal days that we're doing it we will if teachers want to come to the ingenuity training just in case that they were wanting to teach the online or the elementary version we're going to be doing train down we're also going to be doing training if they had to go to this model the operatin so if they win four hours we pay them for the four hours their dollars for the 400 hours worth of training each day that they're reading trained or they can choose one of their teacher driven after school hustle developments that account they don't do we run any risks with the required so that's secondary okay there are all kinds of schedules floating around the internet and county offices and districts are trying to find the best way to meet the needs of their students who meet the needs of their staff so we've been trying to gauge trying to balance those two so what we've started with our three schedules that we feel will meet the needs of our students first and then try to adapt those to meeting these our staff as we get to the minutiae of what professional to thought starting in teens nutrition services prep time all those pieces of a schedule but we want to be sure that we have options that move our kids forward and so we have three different options the first option is the three by three block schedule in essence students would be in three classes and they would complete a year's worth of work in a semester rather than having six classes there that's a common model and the block schedules across the nation and fortunately for those schools it's going to be easier for them to implement something like this because they have the PD so that would be a challenge for us is to make sure we have staff that can do that but when we have pulled our high schools I can't speak for the middle schools but I can guarantee that at least 20% of both our high school staffs have worked on a block schedule it's much higher than that but I know for sure these 20 so there are some experts on site so by the end of the calendar year receiving the academic year a student would have complete courses and have all 60 credits for those courses so that in a nutshell that's that's one model yeah summer do club is good in the class sizes we couldn't have right so to get there you would need to cut your school population in half first and cut it in half again to get to the social distance and she go ahead and specifically I've done a fantastic job of working on that model so we appreciate all the work they've done so we have to you have to figure out the question vote for that but I think we can so moving to option two there would be a little easier to move in and out of this schedule this is a sixth period schedule with an anchor day just real quickly to go back to option one a teacher would see his or her students five times in two weeks so they see a Monday Wednesday Friday the first week and on Tuesday Thursday the second the sixth-grade schedule they have to see all their kids on Monday for really short periods of time 25 30 minutes and then Monday and Wednesday they would see after their kids and then on Tuesday and Thursday together right and there's obviously there's bail scheduled manipulations that we need to be sure I want to go really quickly to the minute issue that said that's for them to get and going back to the comment that is made we have to ensure that we're documenting extended learning minutes okay so it's not just a free-for-all that we're saying those minutes are attached to our in-person minutes who needs to document that through lesson planning through assignments that are submitted as the tickets there's all kinds of all kinds of ways to document that so that's the second model and the biggest difference between the second and third model is that we shift to an AM program and a PM program so kids would either come in to moist or they would come in the afternoon and this one is as the second model is a little easier moved in and out of the of a coded social distance environment and then on social distance environment so there are some benefits there so in a nutshell those are the three there all kinds of details for each of those but we're gonna go into more detail again and their last zooming in on my day with with all the teachers and it happened we had a little over 18 people participating so we had pretty big number you know real big hits very hard but we wanted to we're letting anybody who wants to come in or an administrator already ready to try this today we bring these people into yeah this before this last time that's what happened seven community so we wanted to make sure that they knew this goes so they didn't try to explain it also to those fast and we go on look at the fourth and the fifth column those other two options are still there yes so students will be enrolled at Oak Ridge and maybe take two or three periods so back on their campus attending did they have a preference we did pull them and then pulled into the rain elementary there's about two one they like the alternate day schedule little bit more interesting with secondary yeah secondary that the initial the highest ranking was the sixth period schedule the second highest ranking was was model option one and the third was option but they were the top two were very similar and and we've developed and further since that conversation okay so that may shift again they're looking at through also through teacher blends prep time overlap lunches I've been mentioned this but Vincent Cerro and M&M have been involved in some conversations too because obviously it's going to so we'll send and actually they're separated because we wanted them to know that they could choose this model unless we're mandated to go that way you say please choose one of these three models and if we're not mandated to do so if we are mandated classroom choose one of these so and so just one more quick thing the timeline this is a tentative timeline that we're scripting out where we're at we're going to continue to our money lender clock meetings with our group and if it continues to grow that's fine with us Wednesday June 24th that's what we're here today giving you guys a brief update Thursday tomorrow weeks and planning on sending the surveys out Wednesday July 8th we'll have a board meeting on them again for to have a long discussion about these models and then Wednesday July 15th we're hoping to come up with these are the models that we've got to send out for the survey for them but hopefully we get our parents that kind of if they were going to go because we really have to do those [Music] instructors week supplemented with some high school students John in crystal burg together a program where high school students can come in and eat some about going to give the numbers going to be near what they require you know and it is you know chasing the bouncing ball every time you think we got it you know the rules change one thing really clear is that our kids okay Oh should my second my time window sorry just just this process that we're just proving that's used to bring to by December 15 and then June of 2021 fingers crossed we'll get back onto a traditional all righty then on the motion all those in favor please say aye aye all righty now we'll move on to business services and this would be a Pinto and mr. bottner we will be following all the guidelines from the state as far as the number of people they can attend an outdoor program I believe right now it's 250 but after July 6th I believe it's going to go up to 500 as per the governor and students and parents who will be taking part will be socially distancing and wearing asks though we are planning the program for those two dates July 8th and 9th just a reminder if any of the parents that might be listening are we still are registering for pre-k for September you can contact my office and the registration will be online or virtually and same is true for kindergarten parents who are new to the district if you had a child that was in our pre-k program they're automatically registered but if you are new to Cliffside Park and you are registering a student for kindergarten you can contact my office and one of the secretaries will register you and take care of all the paperwork that's needed so I met today with Dave Profeta our athletic director and some coaches and our athletic trainer there have been some guidelines they call it stage one that have gone out for fall sports those guidelines are in effect from July 13th until July 26th when a second phase will come out right now the fit the first phase is pretty intensive in terms of taking temperatures no contact the only activity is one coach 210 students they have to socially distance they can work out nothing where it's really being involved with picking a soccer ball or a volleyball over the net or a football where there's throwing the ball around it's nothing like that it's just a coach working with a group of 10 kids and we still have to register all of our students in the sense of they have to get medical the medical forms now from the state are much more intensive in terms of pre pre condition students might have some students still physicals so was decided today that at this point really to take part in phase the coaches and Dave Pro Phaedo and even myself feel at this point that's really not worth even doing that because there's so much preparation that's going to go into phase one we're not even sure if we're going to be ready for it yet we as a as a board or you as a board we have not appointed coaches yet for the full season we still haven't heard from the governor or from the Athletic Association what sports if any or if all are going to be held in the fall so because of all these things we felt that we would use this time now to arrange for physicals for students have students fill out the medical forms have parents sign off on the medical forms and just in general get the kids ready then on July 13th when phase two comes out from the Athletic Association we can get together as a group look at what the guidelines are and then at that point come up with a plan that we can submit to the board for approval and we can approve that on July 22nd and then if approved we can then move forward with the second stage which is on July 26th so that's really where we're at right now a lot of districts are doing the same it's just very difficult at this point not having contact with the students and the athletes trying to get everything together for July 13th and there also is not that much to do there's also considerations about students not being allowed in the building so there's no bathroom system please we'd have to look into how we're going to go about that if students are on the field they really can't go into the building to cool off if it's a hot day or one of the things that we might look into some kind of tent that we could put on the field temporarily if we move forward where the students can at least vote come out of the Sun into the shade so these are the kinds of things that Dave poor feet are looking into and when we get all this information together and come up with a plan then we'll present it to the board and ask the board for their input on these things in the meantime as I get information from the state that's related to athletics I'll share with with the board we have a board committee athletic committee I know I forwarded one of the emails to dr.

so that is an increase of two thousand six hundred and forty four dollars from 20 to 21 which is a five percent increase um if you'll notice in items five and six the average teacher salary in 18 was 47 972 so from 18 until current that is a 23 increase for our teachers salaries which is three percent higher than the governor's original 20 by 20 plan also I have oh I'm sorry Mr Holland just to clarify too that for husd Teacher definition includes all employees who provide instruction so we include in that teachers our classrooms our media Specialists our teachers our counselors and site-based instructional coaches so I will have a teacher come to me and say I don't make well this is an average based on that group of it's we this is how that our district defines who we classify as a teacher so yes you will notice which is where I was headed next um that our average teacher salary does include their base salary plus supplemental pay classroom site fund monies pay for performance and Longevity pay so with our supplemental pay what exactly does that include so here's a um a list but not limited to mentoring leadership coaching department chair tutoring summer school Etc as I mentioned this is not an exhaustive list just give you an idea of some of those next we have our unrestricted capital budget So currently we anticipate or estimate our Capital carryover to be a little over 13.8 million the district has many capital needs so we need to move additional six million dollars from our operating budget over to our capital budget to help meet all of those needs our district additional assistance our daa calculated out to be a little over 5.1 million dollars one thing that I wanted to just clarify for you is that 13.8 million within that is two encumbrances that we have each year so I go ahead and we uncumber the lease payment for the next school year plus we have our potential adjacent ways encumbrance of 3.2 million so you're 4.4 plus your 3.2 so you're looking at 7.6 million right there that rolls over each year so for a total unrestricted capital budget a little over 20 not 24.9 million dollars um Mr Holland have we ever or done the calculations if we were actually given the full District additional assistance from our state I'm headed there oh I'm sorry it's okay so the the so I'll go to your question first So currently our daa calculation or da calculated out to be a little over six million dollars so for the next school year with an approximate cut of 15 percent which calculated out to 930 534 dollars the state will keep this year the district is funded at 85 percent which is that 5.1 million dollars that I just mentioned above now these Capital funds will be used one for our lease payment which does increase again a little next year we are planning for a new curriculum adoption which I believe will be science we have an I.T refresh plan as well as our Capital Improvements some Transportation Replacements again our potential transfer to adjacent ways as I just mentioned and then of course any other Capital needs that the district or schools may as they arise questions next we have our special education programs so the first one of course is our all disability classification so that budget is a little over 13.3 million for next year next we have our gifted education budget of 728 000.
They are also looking into GPA. Those of the students, not those who are coming up, those students who are about to finish high school, they also want to come and see the rankings and scores, how they are progressing in school. These are some of the comments made by the public regarding the consent calendar. We continue with the agenda. The proposal is that the Board of Education, in the Conce calendar, the timing from 20 to 2072, in the proportion, is from segment 2068 to 2072.
Tsao thank you thank you again we just would like to say thank you thank you for loving all the children that you have been in contact and thank you again for your service well we want to move on down the agenda take the participation certainly due to the unique nature of the Cova 19 crisis and the limitations of technology members of the public who are Danbury residents are invited to send brief comments and questions via email in advance to DPS underscore public comment underscore b OE at Danbury k12 dot CTU s we have three comments first one is from Cheryl Redditch house key she said while I accept the decision made by the district to implement a policy where the students are held harmless for their remote learning such a student's electing the opt-in to receive the numerical grades earned for their coursework or simply accept pass/fail I do not agree with the decision to eliminate the ranking and the honor roll for quarter four for those students such as my own children who worked hard and made the decision to go with grades instead of pass/fail they did so with the expectation that those numeric grades would have meaning and for that there could be an honor roll where they receive recognition for their efforts I am requesting that this decision be revisited and the honor roll for quarter four be reinstated next participant was Julie Sanseverino thank you for taking the time to read comments submitted by the public while we followed in-person meetings I am writing to express my opinion about the lack of honor roll standing at the HS yes we were informed that there would be no honor roll for Corte for but these students who would qualify for honor all based on numeric grades chose to continue to do their best work and keep up the high standards they set for themselves they should be acknowledged for that work they decided to not settle for the pass/fail and to accept the challenges that distance learning presented and still they persevered please consider awarding honor roll and high honor roll status to the kids who have earned anything next one is Tracy Rita I would like to know why the class rank for high school was not updated at the end of the year having a rising senior sending truck transcripts in the fall to colleges he will need to have an your class ranking seeing that his GPA changed from s1 to s2 you would also expect his class rank to change which it did it because he is the same number as he was for s1 incoming seniors need this to be accurate in my opinion if you are calculating GPA you need to calculate class rank why was this not done and I'm just refreshing that is our last public comment Thank You sandy you're welcome now we're moving on tell me Amy would you like to do the consent calendar please that the Board of Education approves the vitamins I'm sorry items on the consent calendar exhibits 2268 through exhibit 2272 as recommended one thing for the minutes for the June 9th meeting the regular meeting I'm action item B there were some question marks I think they were placeholders for whoever was supposed to make a motion um could it just read instead of the question marks that it was listed on the original agenda that the board etc etc and that dr.
