Specifically, they are going to graduate, so there are options to choose from. They can go through the courses that will be provided. They have to choose the 10th, 11th, and 12th grade courses. Middle school also has to be considered, the 6th and 7th grade courses. It depends on the location they want. They have to choose their path. In high school, there are different programs, and they have to choose based on their vision. Their vision is to have the opportunity to choose the path they want to take. Or, look for options for them regarding the building. It's with respect to STEM, that is, design projects, building projects, project rooms, or classroom projects. What paths are they going to take? Different things are needed: electricity, what will be needed, if we need machines, they have to need project areas, or things that will be done. So she is very, very happy to see how those projects, those project spaces, can be done, but only the requirements have to be looked up.

There is another question as well. In 9th grade, it's also like what Henry Habit does. It's a good model. They will see the... children is what will be done, that has to be worked on, it has to see how many children or how many students there are, it's something big for each one, it's for student management, trying to expand for the students or families, and they are trying to create an academy, almost like high schools, for a transition, to work those departments, create more opportunities for them to choose. Sometimes they are locked in very quickly when it's something that is found, something refreshing, it's a program after they finish the high school diploma, after that what can they continue? Open avenues or programs, there are many things that have to be worked on as well with respect to middle school, everything that is worked on is very popular, that is very popular.

So it has to be seen what can be worked on, there are programs that are programs that are worked on, the website, you see the model, the change, that's about seeing new programs, seeing how the growth, oh, and the opportunities for the children. Okay, thank you. Rachel has a question: has anyone thought about the issuance, the process, or instead of the lottery There has to be an application, or yes, there's a lot of work to do. So, that's one level of the board, the board conversation. So they're going to look to choose, to choose. It depends on the ability. They want to see how it's done, give opportunities to all the young people, to see how we can get the kids in. They just want to give the opportunity so they can do it. Everyone is very happy with that project.

Does anyone have any questions? Okay, sure. If they're proposing, if there's any new news regarding that project, if they want, they can send emails to find out the new information. So, Briton is also very happy about it. He's very happy about that project. He's very interested in it. So there are many opportunities to do something in that project together and see something with respect. There are many conversations about graduation. There are many conversations about how the end of school will be. Different administrations and directions are going to do what they want. They want to give the best for the children. This is something that's being looked at. There are opportunities to reduce some things and include other things. They're having many conversations regarding this to remind people to use the The people and how to use them to create opportunities is a little confusing, but trying to do it all together, does anyone have questions?

Okay, they're going to continue with the agency agenda. I'm reporting from the board president. Is there a committee that wants to give a report? Your report is very quick. She wants to thank the entire board of directors of the school board for their support, for working together so that we all listen and do the things we need to do. We like to support each other and understand how to get there, how to start from A to B. Sometimes she'd like to go down the right path, but she's very happy to work with each of you and share with each of you. She hopes you have a nice summer and especially thanks for helping with the computer, how to do it, how to do it, and where it should be. Oh, she wants to thank you for your support throughout the year and always for being there when I need you.

She thanks you and says it's nice to work with you all. It's to work together. That's her only goal. She wants that in August, [Music] that in the summer, there's something for me to do in a meeting On Zoom, as a group, they want to be open for those who are going around the summer. We'd like to see part of what you decide regarding the board with the different academies. They want to have a board that is supportive on the front lines. Any meeting, let us know what's here. And having the meeting, usually, they don't meet in July, August, September, September 9th, and they want to prepare for Christmas. We, as the board, want to be part of the committees for what's happening in 2020, the reopening of schools. They want to always be up-to-date, they want to always be part of the meetings and information.

to superintendent's report administrative items i need a motion to prove items seven one through seven six so i have a motion motion by miss everhart second it by miss ryan uh before we go into questions or comments dr blachford would you like to speak uh you're you're a mute thank you very much anytime this pandemic has certainly been difficult for parents students teachers and in looking forward to the 2020 2021 school year i see a time of great progress for the eve sham school district our excellent teachers have developed technology and other skills on a level that is almost unprecedented unprecedented in looking at progress in education it's often step by step many times you can you think you can get good improvement in student academic performance that only results in a two or three percent increase for example if you buy the best math system and the teachers implement with a high degree of fidelity the improvement is often very small even programs like push and instruction oftentimes have very little effect on student achievement all those gains are important and they are hard to come by a three percent gain every year over a period of a few years is a big gain and we have to continue to look at those small increases one of the best ways though to increase student academic progress is structural change when we started using block scheduling all the research indicated it had a big effect on student performance about the only time it is not effective is when faculty members actively work to sabotage it and this does not happen very often when we're looking at the covid lockdown we really do see an opportunity for structural change our teachers have dramatically increased their ability to provide virtual instruction they will be able to use these skills the skills they learned in this process to supplement their classrooms methods and techniques and evesham is on the forefront of the structural change our teachers are highly dedicated skillful and have been provided with technology and in-service training now they will be able to dramatically enhance their instruction how much of our students lost during this shutdown it's hard to tell because the data is not available at this point but in one study researchers looked at the loss of instruction over the summer and projected it to the pandemic shutdown at-risk students could lose as much as 38 percent of their learning eve sham and other school districts will need to support the students a little earlier i said eve sham is on the forefront of maximizing skills we are not a don't go it alone district during the year and throughout the shutdown there have been many meetings where teachers share their good ideas curriculum wise we were highly effective in communicating our plan evesham teachers have been flexible and responsive to our students and faculty through feedback we improved our digital digital learning approach the entire time we realized that oftentimes less is more why rush through a multitude of facts that can be forgotten we analyzed our normal curriculum and made our virtual instruction match it as closely as possible and talking to other school districts we are highly effective we omitted some topics condensed others and accelerated through others eve sham continued to focus on teaching children we were flexible with students grading and we quickly responded to parent and student requests our teachers incorporated our students unique characteristics in their instruction they modified in stress assessment and activities to help the students our teachers further refine their instruction to make it as easy as possible for the students to learn the skills and concepts all instructions should be as easy should make it as easy as possible for the students tasks can be technologically simple to complete but still require a depth of knowledge our teachers added to their instructional skills this into an even a greater year in a greater degree there's no one fixed way to accomplish a task students were given choices and options to show understanding as well organized as teachers are this virtual instruction created a need to sequence tasks on an even higher level over the next couple years we will have financial changes in eve sham but we are well positioned to overcome them you have excellent teachers strong families a highly supportive board of education and wonderful students you also have a new superintendent justin smith that will lead the district to new heights he is backed by a very strong administrative team that includes principals assistant principals supervisors and cabinet members i know some community members are wondering about our school budget during the pandemic they wonder if they're going to get money back or not no one in our fine school district is going to waste any taxpayer money we will be able to compute the savings after this year ends and all the savings will be used to offset future expenses i would like to thank you for the opportunity to work here and there's one thing that's very important please blame me for anything that goes wrong over the next three years thank you thank you dr blachford uh any questions or comments um i i will say this uh dr blachford this may be our last regular meeting with you barring some type of surprise meeting that shows it's july that no one wants um i i i do i do want to tell you that uh i've i've had the privilege of working with you very closely um probably i've i've spent more time with you over the phone or through these types of meetings that i've done with superintendents in the last like nine years um well because of everything that's been around us but uh you came in came in here and the idea was in my humble opinion the idea was come in here just make sure the ship is right it until we find the new superintendent and just we'll just we'll just ride it off into the sunset yeah it didn't seem like the world agreed with that assessment and uh they threw us i wouldn't say a curveball more like a cannonball uh i've i've been doing this for for a little while and i have never in my career even as a student in this in this district have ever seen uh seen us go through something like we've had today and i i am so thankful for your steady leadership and and what you are able to do you you never one moment at all backed down from a challenge uh you never in in any moment uh even cave off to the idea that you were an interim superintendent you felt like the real deal the entire time and it never felt like that interim tag ever applied to you i am incredibly grateful uh to to have the privilege of working with you and uh you know i at this point i i kind of made the joke earlier but you know when i found out that we were having a doctor come in i didn't realize that we were gonna have an epidemic uh that doctor uh but i uh my recommendation is that somewhere down the road they built a statue for you somewhere in this district for handling everything that went on so i um i really from bottom of my heart personally um and for for the board i want to thank you for for your service and getting us through some of the roughest times that we've ever faced uh truly absolutely a pleasure to work with you and i will be working until roughly about july 20th with you but uh publicly i i felt incredibly compelled uh to tell everybody who's watching us what an incredible man and superintendent that you are thank you very much i appreciate your kind words any other questions or comments i would like to make a comment um to dr blanchard you have been there when we needed questions answered you answered it fully if you didn't know you went out and searched and you always got back to us when we had questions and i truly appreciate that as a board member and i have enjoyed working with you unfortunately um now it was virtual where we couldn't be face to face and i wish you the best as you leave our district you have to watch it to us thanks again any other questions or comments uh mrs fleming thank you yes again i want to uh reiterate everyone's compliments to you um it has been definitely a pleasure i love the quick replies that you always give and um your ability to continue working hard even in the face of the uh unprecedented times that we have had thank you and and i certainly wish you the best thanks miss everhart i know you had your hand up yeah i just i didn't know this was testimonial time but i'll say great spectacular job there dr blattford just to use your word your favorite word and it's been a pleasure working with you and uh you've been nothing but uh cooperative and uh available and uh to joe's point we really have uh we've always had just an open door policy with you you know you've been really open with uh the cabinet and with the board leadership because these truly were unprecedented times and you always kind of kept the board leadership uh in the loop and uh you know we bounced off a lot of ideas together because we were all going through it for the first time together so thank you for that and uh you know thank you for you surely didn't think this is what your time here was going to be like but you did a great job and uh we wish you nothing but the best moving forward and uh you know we'll be talking with you through through the middle of july here but thank you really on behalf of the rest of the board thank you for everything you've done good luck thanks thanks a lot you have a bright future um dr smith is going to do spectacular and it is an incredibly good uh cabinet and you know administrative structure you have all right with with that being said we're going to go to a roll call mrs barbara giovanni yes mrs everhart yes mr fizzicarro yes miss fleming yes mr canton yes mr lanzalotta yes mr megan yes mrs ryan yeah motion carries thank you now we're moving to item eight this is curriculum and instruction i Sal for our opening comments dr. Tsao good morning everyone and thank you for being with us it's wonderful to have Brendan Stephanie one folks with the breakfast I love sharing my table so we had an opportunity and I'm glad we had today's scheduled we had anticipated an announcement from the state regarding the opening we were wondering about things as well as everyone else in the community we were able to do some pre-planning with things but but the actual guidelines are not known to us and we've been also planning with our regional partners as of yesterday with the governor's decision we did have a conference and then that conference he outlined a few things to us and I put some of it in your letter I'm expected by July 24th I'd have to relook at that I'm still analyzing all the data to have a plan submitted to this state and in that plan there are number of things that have to happen they incorporated that in my letter but ostensibly what we were at were talked about the reason for the delay was that the state was waiting for the most recent information regarding the covert 19 data health data from each other down so the decision was based on on the return to school but I actually read them to the safeguarding the health and safety of students allowing all and they specified all students the opportunity returned into classrooms full-time starting the fall that was the question we had if we were going to come back in part-time full-time three-quarters time its full-time at this point they so imagine monitoring the school population and when necessary potentially cancelling classes in the future they reinforced eyes to its yesterday and the boutonniere in my thinking this is not normal there's no no no abnormal opening with that the expectation of coming each and every day is the information yet now if in fact things change they will deescalate the number of days the youngsters need to be there to the point where it will go through three phrases one everyone back to based on the information reduced the numbers at an increased distancing and then three if it becomes that severe back to enhance distance learning so that's kind of the backdrop and then they talked to us about the thinking and we asked where the discount from they didn't analysis state of nationally of all the best practices they were able to look at international data because this some countries have Ernie returned back to school so they've kind of cold I stole that information together and these are areas that they talked to us about that it's gonna have to be cohort which means that they're going to emphasize grouping students by the same class a group of students but teachers as much as possible and they did emphasize that k-8 has a less look more likelihood to do that then ninth and twelve just by the nature of boy we educate our youngsters on social distancing and facility review they want us to review all the building spaces reconvene reconfigure available classroom space such as gymnasiums auditoriums and maximize social distances in system of Public Health guidelines for clarity when that I asked this you know we've been hearing the standard is six feet that's not what they're telling us and say as much as possible but when I look at what they're asking us to do is we're not going to be normal we're going to be looking at gyms auditoriums cafeterias it's based in order to create classrooms that have appropriate space and that will work with our Health Department or others about what that actually operationalizes into transportation originated it was going to be limit on transportation but now we're told that the strategies that kind of the umbrella that's been used as mitigation this men against need be the possibility of the virus to be spread that transportation will allow us to run on transportation as normal whatever normal means but drivers and students even in school during transportation aren't aware facial coverings specifically for nose and mouth during that time so that's sort of their strategy and I don't want to take up a lot of the time there's a lot of details that are going to have to happen a lot of questions and I said that out just to hear parents if you put your eyes on that material you know how it impacts you and what you say and do are important to us as I said in my last forum it might not be the plan everybody commutes with might not be the best plan but I will try to make it with the court I know it's there their interest in the city to make the safest plan that we can for the youngsters returning to school if they're our own kids coming back so that's going to be a difficult task and I ask I appreciate your cooperation and your advice with that in I will open it up please great thank you dr.

at 5 30 PM members of the board in attendance president vice president clerk Andres Quintero president member Linda Chavez member Dolores Marquez frosto president members from Administration superintendent Dr Bauer present okay thank you Maribel so we do have a quorum tonight and this meeting is being video recorded um so those are up front um thank you everybody for for getting here this evening um as we've come accustomed to I guess I'll just note um in terms of public comment tonight there are multiple ways as always for public comment um they without having to explain each one individually I will just say I hope you can still oh there we go I will just say that if you go to our website at arusd.org and on the top left corner uh there's a little Echo you'll see a yeah a link that you can click on um that says I'm pulling it up here I forgot the exact words so in the if you click on that on the current board agenda you will see all of the ways in which you can participate in public comments if you send uh via text or email it will be read by one of our staff um and during the time period That's allotted for that public comment and when that time is up your they'll read as much as they can during that time period in the interest of consistency tonight and in the interest of um moving the meeting along and getting the things that we need to get done done as we have several large items or anticipated large items on the agenda if there's no objection from my colleagues I would like to for all of the items tonight consistently have a one minute um public comment time and a 30 minute cap on any individual item um so if we have consensus with that we can move forward to the next part of our meeting and I don't hear I don't hear any objection okay are you are you are you saying that the public can come and speak at um on on number four for just one minute any item one minute with a 30 minute cap because um as you know last month we had uh 50 um people speaking on one particular item I believe more on a different item we have at least two items that I anticipate a high volume of um comments I've been notified that we have a high number of um written or sent in um comments and as you know trustee Marquez last month I'm well last meeting I believe we were making decisions somewhere around one o'clock in the morning and so I would like for us to to be able to um handle business in a way that that we can make our best decisions as a team and and be respectful of everyone's time as well so that's why I'm I'm wanting to um without objection move it along okay so would you respect I'm used to having meetings until one in the morning that's what time my first uh meetings um started as you know 12 years ago so I'm not a stranger to being you know we're being up at that time with meetings but I what I do have a problem is just the one minute instead of the what normal three minutes or two minutes because I mean I'm I'm I'm very comfortable with two minutes um but to one minute I think that's an injustice to the public if they have something happens [Music] okay I have a question about um you mentioned 30 minutes when you say 30 minutes does that include the entire discussion of the board higher public statement okay because I know sometimes we tend to um talk so 30 minutes just for the comment public comment on each item correct a cap of 30 minutes okay and are you open to um if there's more people maybe discussing and um potentially extending that depending on the item and the time um I would like to get it set just right now for the entirety of the meeting to not have to spend more time later going back and forth um I anticipate that there will be more people and I too I'm um I'm not you know I'm it's not comfortable necessarily for me to limit that public comment in in this way however I believe that um one at least one of the items that we'll hear public comment on tonight there was a significant amount of public comment on that item last month so that makes me a little more comfortable about um about you know proceeding in this way and as I mentioned if you just do the math even if there's 30 minutes um I mean yeah 30 people commenting if we go two minutes each you know that's an hour and we have maybe two items that might be you know heavy items so that's two hours of public comment along with a budget presentation and several other important things tonight I'm just oh hoping to streamline our business tonight I just you see what you're saying and I was here with you at that meeting um and just like Marquez mentioned I you know and I wouldn't be open to two minutes I think I'm okay with the one minute um especially for the long items but I would you know not want to prevent anybody you know from speaking and I would just suggest that if there's more than 30 people um and I'm assuming that you would extend it for the Spanish speakers because then that would only leave for 15 speakers I'm proposing a 30-minute cap overall yeah no I would say um not like cutting it at a cap and or being open to extending it especially if there's 15 Spanish speakers I don't think that's fair okay any other thoughts uh trustee Chavez I just lost my zoom um thing so if I'm off that's the reason why I'm gonna try and get back on okay we can hear you and see you perfectly fine yeah I can't though but oh so I'm gonna I'm gonna mess with it and see what I can do okay okay any other thoughts you'll know why okay um you're the president of the board and so the intention is that you're gonna go ahead and uh facilitate degrees or move smoothly so I I leave it in your cable hands um if it's one minute and we have 30 speakers and that's a some good comments in a minute uh a a good thought can get out um previously it was said that um the meeting used to go to 12 volt that's not an allen mark that I want to go back to I we used to get it out at three in the morning I know because I was in the audience watching some of these meetings and seeing that there's the dysfunctional Rock um after midnight you're not probably making very um let's figure out how we can get good input but at the same time also go through the very very important things like the budget and those discussions that we have to have I appreciate that for seeking Federal and um again this is I I would not tend to want to do something like this naturally but I feel like as you mentioned that I do need to move the meeting along and I particularly say this because as we preached approach the wee hours of the morning last month I noticed that some of us you know staff and trustees were like you know pretty beat physically it was quite obvious and I don't want us to be late tonight making very important decisions when we are not you know in our best mindset and just in in regards to fatigue so um Mr Ruiz at this point I basically have to make a decision one way or the other correct may I make the comment before you go um on with um oh yes yes yeah okay so um prior to um to all of these meetings your parents were really upset you know that when the other presidents were here and none of you were here that their minutes got cut and they're and we went through an ugly phase um and uh and we still gave them their minutes you know we still gave them you know what was appropriate for whatever time and we as the elected yeah we did stay later you know because that's our job that was our responsibility and those were not bad meetings it just happened that like this agenda is full we had full agendas back then too so um contrary to what when my colleague is saying that those were bad times no I mean they've been good times and bad times I don't want it to make him look I want him to make it look like they're all bad times but I do want I do want on the minutes as to who is is is uh agreeing to do just the one minute for parents and those that um that are going to be fighting for parents to have more speaking time to be recorded in the minutes and I for one I'd like to give them at least the two minutes thank you thank you hey president I was not speaking to previous boards I'm talking about Patty Potter's time and when Marquez and hereda were here dysfunction dysfunction dysfunction okay that's fine that's what I was talking about thank you for that so with that so function dysfunction thank you for that commentary that's okay let's move forward Mr Ruiz um at this point I can basically consider all my colleagues input and make a decision is that accurate yes okay I mean I have a question for I have a question for Rogelio then go ahead Rogelio so does the president just um arbitrarily do that or does he um did Kenny call for the you know for a vote as to who wants to do what so a vote is not necessary the board bylaws say that uh the amount of time on any agenda item shall be limited to 20 minutes so in this case I'm hearing that there's a lot of public comment and there's a desire by board members to allow for more public comments so 30 minutes is actually more than what the board bylaws require and then with respect to individual speakers um uh all the bylaws say is that with the board's consent um yeah you can move forward and change the time or limit the time about individual speakers so what I'm hearing is that it sounds like there is at least some general agreement on uh limiting the total time 30 minutes and and seeing on a flexible basis how many individual speakers there are on any given item so I haven't heard anything fast uh anything that the board president has said that he's going to implement is a hard and fast rule no not at all do you understand my you misunderstood my question my question was just about this how the decision is made one yeah yeah and I only went in and I wasn't concerned about the 30 minutes I was concerned about one person wanting to speak and having having to at least have two minutes not the other stuff so the question being I guess uh Mr Ruiz is it do we vote on it or does is it I mean how do we make this final decision and move it along here um you know if there's so a member is free to make a motion to to set the amount of time on any individual speaker nobody's made a motion on that yet so um if there isn't going to be a motion in a second then I would say just proceed and then call it with a 20 minute okay then I like to make the motion right now president I know that we give our speakers two minutes okay um there's a motion on the floor to give two minutes and in which case I would most likely go with our 20 minute cap that's in the board bylaws just to move things along um is there a second to that motion I don't see a second do we have do we have to uh trust each other's on or off right now I just want to know who is on everyone is on can you hear us okay so is there another motion so she did hear it though right she heard it there was no there's no second to the motion so will you be will you be asking the community for input no I'm at this point I'm asking for a motion any other motion from the board I can make a motion too can't they Mr Ruiz okay I'm I move I move that we go with um a 30 minute cap which is longer than our normal cap and allow one minute per speaker to allow the maximum amount of speakers while keeping within a reasonable time limit second okay there's the motion and a second on the floor for what I just stated is there any further discussion on this or can we put it to a vote no I'd like to discuss that one because I think that it's being very unfair to the community because there was an item that I kept getting calls about here that was supposed to have been an action item and you you put it on for discussion only and um it was um I had people that were very very upset and I said you just have to be in in the meeting tonight and that's all I said so hoping that those people that are on right now that are there for that item that was not put on as an action because you as president put it on as discussion and now you as president are only allowing them to speak one minute and not two after this vote is taken and uh and I hope that they're listening and that they chime in at one point or another thank you okay any other questions or comments um and I just want to make sure that um I uh my position I won't be voting for that as I think it's important to let our our community speak if we have more than 30 minutes but you know hopefully we're able to run smoothly but that we don't limit our um public I think um you know sometimes we as a board end up talking a lot so yeah I just hope that you know we're able to get through the items quickly um but yeah I won't be supporting this okay any other questions or comments on the board okay so we will put it on to the vote the motion on the floor is to have a 30-minute cap at one minute per public comment for any item on the agenda tonight um there's a motion in a second so I will call for the vote as I see you on my screen trustee Chavez hi trustee no trustee Marquez no trusty Quintero aye and myself I motion passes so we will extend the overall cap beyond our normal 20 minute limit to 30 minutes but it will be one minute per item and we can actually utilize the technology that we have available to us for those on Zoom if you hear a particular comment that you are in agreement with please feel free to use the um Applause or thumbs up sign to give us an indication of where the support is and also feel free to um when you give your public comment to in order to preserve time for others if you agree with someone ahead of you to Simply State you agree with point a b and c and that will allow us to hear more comments so I appreciate everyone's thoughtful discussion on this it's a difficult position to be in but we do need to be mindful of the business at hand as well who did the second on this motion um do you know who the second was on this was it trusty Quintero I don't remember it was um okay so thank you everyone thank you um so let's move on now to our Pledge of Allegiance um and so as I always stay because of the conditions of zoom and everything if you're able to stand please do so and if not you can remain seated and follow along with us um okay pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic and justice for all okay thank you so we can move to item 1.02 discussion or modification of the agenda I'd like to move and Pull 7.05 and move it up to after the comments from all communication after 5.06 705 to after 506.

molesky Thank You president Becker and good evening to everyone the class of 2020 virtual graduation ceremony was a huge success and special thanks to dr. Michael Piniella his principal Matt Hanna's assistant principal and John McMenamin our district multimedia manager for all their work to make the virtual graduation a special moment for our seniors and their families during our planning process we were investigating a lot of options from private service providers I was getting multiple emails each day and as you can imagine we had a plethora of offers for us to consider and evaluate and John typically displays a quiet humbleness but he is absolutely the best at his craft of anyone I've ever been associated with and near the conclusion of a particular discussion about producing the virtual graduation I asked John as we're evaluating other offers what do you think he simply responded I can do it better and he did thank you John it was clear your production was a tremendous it with the parents who reached out to me congratulations also to Bernardo Giuliana business administrator and board secretary Joseph crotch film director financial services Tara Rosa Ming senior manager and the entire finance department for the seventh consecutive award of the certificate of excellence of financial reporting from the association of school business officials international this latest one is for the comprehensive annual financial report for the fiscal year ended June 30th 2019 an ASBO recognizes districts that have met the program's high standards for financial reporting and transparency and while the wards like this are tangible artifacts of achievement I get to see how hard Bernie Jo Tara and their entire team work every day even harder most days in this virtual environment to maintain the high fiscal integrity of the district and oversee the utilization of local state federal enterprise and grant resources in the most efficient prudent and responsible manner many thanks and sincere appreciation to all of you the East Brunswick Board of Education has adopted policies and regulations that guide the creation of the district's curriculum our curriculum is constantly undergoing review and substantial and ongoing work among the Board of Education administrators and community representatives ensure the East Brunswick curriculum is rigorous balanced and reflective of our community I would like to emphasize that the equity work we have undertaken over the past six years and our ongoing commitment to invest in both curricular enhancements and professional development that support reinforce and sustain a culture of inclusiveness in East Brunswick and details of our ongoing curricular equity focus can be found on the refocusing tab on the homepage of our website at IDI net org and finally to everyone who contributed to the successful conclusion of our 2020 school year whether you were teaching and constantly checking in with your students and tried to maintain that connection with them whether you were supporting teaching delivering food in the commune that was desperately needed by so many families or pain vendors or taking care of our facilities while everyone was trying to work remotely so many people both visible and behind the scenes contributed to this tremendous effort and success to concluding this year it's not what we expected it's not how we expected when we started this year to finish this year but you know as the as the singer Frank Sinatra said we did it our way and I think we did a really good job and we've we've gotten some feedback from the community and we're taking that under advisement not everything was perfect and and I'll be the first to admit we have areas where we can begin to improve and we've started to investigate that but there are so many things that went right and so many things that went right because so many intelligent people invested and finally to the Board of Education thank you so much for your support we couldn't have done it without this governing body backing us up all along the way so tomorrow governor Murphy has announced that he plans to give us guidance for the reopening of school and yet we don't know what that is but we're not at the finish line this is a marathon and we just crossed the first water station and we're about ready to head towards the finish line but the finish line will not be crossed until we reopen school safely and we eventually return to normal operations so again thank you to a very supportive community to all of our families who shifted along with us and adopted roles they never expected to to fill as we started this school year but they did it with the highest level of integrity and they kept a smile on their face most of the time and and we made it so congratulations to everyone thank you to everyone for all your support Thanks Thank You dr.
