the other new category under this policy will be staff manage infections uh infractions sorry smi which will only be a category one infraction and will be listed as the letter t on the category one we also discussed pat policy number zero one six public participation in a board meeting was discussed by the committee in regards to members of the public providing addresses when addressing when addressing the board it was decided to review and discuss this policy in executive session um and the board is going the policy committee is going to further discuss this at its next meeting uh policy uh zero one four zero one seven four legal services procedures relating to the boards and speaking to the attorney was discussed with no action taking and it was agreed to further address this policy at a later policy meeting the meeting adjourned at 625 respectfully written by mr louise m ross any questions yes um madam vice chair ambassador i actually do have a question i was wondering um for number three with the public participation in the board meetings before they um do come in and i don't know maybe if um tax support can come in on this and um just give us a uh i don't know if the public could actually if they have the chat um available to them because i know when i participate in board zooms um on the other side i have the chat available where i was able to type in my name um and address which made it easier for record purposes i don't know if that's what they have the chat available so they can put their names type their names in and their addresses and obviously if their students just you know state that a student at whichever school yes there is a chat sorry do you want me to answer yes okay there is a chat available however it's a separate chat for just the waiting room and i can certainly back channel while we're leading up to that the only issue is the phone callers and anyone on the mobile device doesn't have access to the chat it's only those logging in from a traditional computer okay madam president we were addressing this policy because i think we're going to have to tweak some of our standard policies going forward with the remote uh meetings if we do allow remote i know we're going to be in pub in person soon but i know there was a request by making um some part of the meeting remote to the public because it depends on the number of people we're allowed to have in the building uh for social distancing purposes so we're gonna have to address that uh we were doing this to try to protect children or students under the age of 18 from their identity of where they live so that was a big concern of all of us uh we have to protect our students and our and our children in the district so it's going to be further further discussed at the september meeting we just wanted to get a feel for what everybody felt and then we were going to make some recommendations to the to the board so if anybody has anything if they could send it to me i'll include it at the next meeting i have a question yes um mr vicente i just want to learn about policy level 174 i mean we have i thought we had policy of that that everything needs to go through the president uh to speak with the was there an issue that arose that uh the board needs to be aware of because that's that's really a violation of what we've been doing since i've been on the board for since 2010.

mr percentage um we were trying to add a mechanism uh an email mechanism so that um there's actually a uh some kind of paper trail that when a board member does reach out to the president to speak to the attorney that we can uh actually have uh it documented um say somebody wants to talk to them about a busing issue a bus problem or you know about the policy that i just read often about adding certain time limits and a board member does want to see um talk to the attorney and asks your permission we wanted to get a document to trail so that we all as board members could see that and what's going on so if we had questions we could ask what was going on there's also supposed to be a log that at the board building and i think with phone calls and and using devices it has led to um an error in that so we're trying to clean this one up as well uh this is going to be furtherly discussed in september so that was my concern and yes i have a concern about this as well and it's something i can't discuss in public any other i just for the public that you just can't go and talk to attorney right now but we wanted to add something to it because we wanted just to clean it up and to put that component in that we had the actual paper trail to it so the board um secretary doesn't have an issue when he has to check the bills yes uh miss gutierrez yes uh good evening everybody uh just if i could just be involved in that conversation so that i can put in my sense on how to make it most efficient so that it helps everybody thank you any other commissioners see none um next is finance negotiations committee mr daly yes thank you madam president uh finance negotiations committee august 24th 2020 uh present where uh miss beltram mr canova mr pacetti and myself administration president was dr robertosi mr yusi and mr thomasevich uh items for the discussion was revised at 20 20 21 uh budget post-state aid cuts the district submitted the revision a revised budget to the county business administrator and county superintendent on august 11th after the approval of the board ms macques county business administrator of passaic county approved almost all the aspects of the budget except for the use of capital reserve to offset capital outlay equipment uh appropriations she explained that she is disapproving the five five hundred eighty eight thousand forty five dollars of capital withdrawal because uh we never got it approved in the lrfp that's a long-range facility plan during the budgeting session and two the guidance did not allow for the use of capital reserve to revise the budget the business office tried to contest this decision however trenton denied the request therefore it is recommended by the administration to further reduce the budget uh raises across all departments by an additional 588 thousand uh 45 dollars uh this this is still for the cea administration administrators supervisors and non-affiliated the budget is completely intact after this revision from the original revised approval and will be up for reapproval on august 27th board meeting which is tonight's board meeting there's any questions i'll be happy to answer do any commissioners have any questions thank you mr daley yeah i have i i do have something uh to add that that uh we'll more fully discuss when when the budget comes up for the vote um i did have this discussion with mr yusi uh as as finance chairman and my discussion with mr uc is that i didn't want to drag because i had concerns about some of the county's decisions on this issue so i agreed with mr uc that we should adopt the budget however we should still keep the issues that are concerned uh and i would recommend i would i'll discuss it under the when we have the budget approval i think we should still uh go after the decision about using the capital the withdrawal that the capital uh uh from the capital reserve fund uh on the lrfp uh the long-range facility plan and as you all know the long-range facility plan is kind of a prerequisite to spending any capital reserve money um and the this the state has an arcane look you can only revise that once a year which is totally ridiculous so um i think we should and i'll discuss this further i think we should send a letter to the commissioner raising our concerns we can easily revise the lrfp and i like to see that 588 000 uh reserved to its rightful uh budget line item so i'll discuss this in detail if anybody has any questions right now i'll be happy to address them as well do any commissioners have any questions i just have one question this was an email wasn't it not an actual formal meeting on the 24th because i am not having i i definitely wasn't there if it wasn't meeting nor was i invited but i remember an email coming through that was discussing all of this it was via email it was an email right not an actual meeting it was it was it was emailed to all the the finance committee and then um the next day i emailed it to the whole board okay so it was just an email not an actual meeting because i want to make sure i didn't miss something no no no you are correct sorry for the kind of confusion i did i just wanted minutes uh you know to explain yeah minutes minutes of the email okay yeah i just wanted to make sure because i was like oh no i must have missed something but okay all right thank you do any of the other commissioners have any questions okay um so next is the virtual education tech meeting um mr canova yep uh so the virtual education tech meeting met at 12 p.m august 19 2020 board of ed president president was myself miss basford mr casper mr abu drago admin president was dr robert tosi mr kucilewicz and mr mountain the administration shared how tech support would be provided during remote instruction phase of the year students in grades k-5 first reach out to their classroom teachers for help classroom teachers can resolve many issues and route their other issues concerns to the correct technical or curriculum staff if needed students in grades 6 to 12 can reach out to classroom teachers and also access tech support email and phone numbers it was suggested by the commissioners konova and abu drabble that this information be printed on stickers to apply to the students chromebooks assistant assistants will be provided via phone email and live chat sessions one additional contact option for parents and students is to teach is to use teacher voicemail this is a part of the new phone system that has been rolled out over the past few months teachers will be receiving instructions on how to set up their voicemail accounts as soon as configuration and testing is finalized the board of edge shared concerns of having one streamlined product process for students to access resources and assignments the district shared that google classrooms follow a similar format by course by grade all teachers will be required to use this format for online or in-person learning environments as the first day of school the weekly schedule was shared by the administration it has been developed to accommodate for hybrid in-person online and also fully online tracks all pacing and curriculum plans have been adapted to implement adapted to be implemented in person fully remote or hybrid situations staffing concerns were addressed staff with ada accommodations will be prioritized for remote instruction positions the administration provided an update on teacher training for virtual instruction summer course rosters show over 700 attendees at voluntary summer training sessions focusing on google classrooms and other remote instruction tools all teachers will be provided with three professional development days of training on september 1st 2nd and 3rd all new teachers will also receive three additional dates of training six total to prepare for the upcoming school year the administration updated the committee on the status of our myfi hotspot provider the original company we worked with in the spring is not renewing our agreement for the fall in response the district is procuring our own devices to distribute to families in need the nationwide delay in chromebooks orders was discussed contingency plans were developed including a survey and prioritizing distribution of our current chromebook inventory the administration and commissioners discuss the use of breakout rooms in zoom these breakout rooms can be used for formal discussions executive sessions are in the event of unplanned recess the breakout rooms will allow for the main room to continue to be live streamed while the private rooms would not just as meetings are conducted in person meeting was adjourned at 1 30 8 pm any questions by the commissioners i'm madam chair i have i have a comment um if we going forward if we can get a when there's a meeting with any of the groups can we get a notice a day or two before so in case we have any questions or comments we can send it to the chair and so it's addressed because uh we used to get the updates but it's kind of i know we're we're our new normal but we have to start trying to get back to our old normal so if that's a request for me i hope we can um find a way to do that thank you madam vice chair i think that that's a very great um suggestions so um dr overtozie if you could just um and anybody else that's sending out just make sure that goes out to the entire board so if there are any board members that want to put on any additional comments um thank you miss danny if i may i think that's obviously a great idea um what i'd like to do is i'd like to you know beginning in september i'd like to get back to our regular schedule of committee meetings uh we had been meeting i believe it was the second tuesday of the month in between our two board meetings so if that's something that still works for everybody maybe that would be great and then if there's any additional meetings that come up or need to be had then certainly we should let the entire board know um when they are going to be um so dr robertosi if you once you know that if you could just say like for example if you know policy it'll be every um other you could just say it'll be every other and this way you wouldn't need to send anything out and if you knew finance would be uncertain you know this and you know then you can definitely you know put something like that up that's fine touch base with the chairs of the committees yes and make a schedule that's great thank you next order of business is public recognition this portion of the meeting is open to the citizens of clifton for the purpose of addressing resolutions on this agenda only residents are requested to provide the purpose and to state their names addresses and subject matter students you can just state the school that you're at comments are limited to three minutes per person issues raised by members of the public may or may not be responded to by the board all comments will be considered and a response will be forthcoming if and when appropriate the board asks that members of the public be courteous and mindful the rights of other individuals when speaking specifically comments regarding students and employees of the board are discouraged and will not be responded to by the board students and employees have specific legal rights afforded by the laws of new jersey the board bears no responsibility nor will it be liable for any comments made by members of the public members of the public should consider their comments in light of the legal rights of those affected or identified in their comments and be aware that they are legally responsible and liable for their comments does anyone wish to speak on items on the agenda there will be a separate one for anything other in the next public recognition yes i'm seeing a few here so i'm gonna announce the first couple um samsung galaxy s8 you'll be first dustin you'll be second um julie i also see you trying to connect to audio if if yours connects soon you'll be third samsung galaxy you have three minutes mr samsung galaxy if you could state your name if you're not a student and where you live and just tell us what issue you're addressing on the agenda thank you you're muted you're muted we'll give you time samsung galaxy or muted justin you'll be dustin are you ready yeah i'm here can you guys hear me okay so we'll go to dustin if you can state if you're not a student state your name and where you live and what you are addressing on the agenda thank you um i'm not a student my son is a student his name is dustin my name is thomas kiefer my son is a student at school five elementary school um i spoke last week and uh you know it it's this whole thing is tough but with the information given it's really frustrating to know that we can't even do partial in school the numbers according to the governor are well within these standards and it's frustrating just ultra frustrating um i know you guys on the board say that you know you get no direction um so that leads me to believe that you guys can direct yourselves and i think that we need to be a little bit um uh we need to do a better job for our kids i know you guys are worried about safety safety but just the numbers they're they don't make sense with what's going on i don't even think the pandemic's corona anymore i think it's fear everyone's so scared i mean you guys on the board you guys went to school there's never this is you you you go to school and you learn from your peers you you learn from being in the classroom the teachers are a tremendous help but you learn from each other experiences that you can't grasp from a teacher um i think to another thing that i know i've seen like for instance wayne they're they're doing in person and i i've read that they're you know a couple teachers aren't happy but i think you know maybe clifton could do a start and maybe start holding these meetings in persons to show that the show the teachers that were willing to to stand by you i think that would be something that would benefit to get the teachers on board um we all have jobs to do um you know it's crazy i mean i can i have all these notes here i can go through stats and stats but it still doesn't compute in my head why why we can't show up in school for the ones that do and to make everyone happy you talk about one clifton unfortunately like that sounds wonderful but it's just not happening and with the data given last meeting that it's almost 50 50 down the middle and you guys split elementary and middle and high why can't we do the people who want home do home and the people who want to go to school let them go i'm sure there's teachers out there that want to go and i understand the fears but again with there's there's fears of everything you can just it's all the what-ifs that aren't being answered it's it's you know what if this what if that let's go by what's happening you know daycares are open with no problems you know there's so important and uh you know i understand it's hard for everyone and the last thing i want to do is get our angry and everyone's you know mr robert tozie said everybody's it's very uh it's uh chaotic and everyone's arguing and very divided and we need something to break that division and uh i really think that we need to get at least some people back in school make everybody happy and uh that's really all you gotta say because the stats don't really i could say stats all day and no one listens so i mean it's just 97 it's just of it's too much but uh we really need to get the kids back thank you um um and uh the next person will be samsung galaxy if you could just state your name and your address and the purpose on the agenda sure can you hear me now okay yes yes we can okay thank you sorry about that i'm a little new to this um i'm for the um parents advocating for the proper education of can you just state can you state your name and your dream and your address your address yes it's that's why my current address is um in uh ocean township but my son lives in clifton new jersey 25 lehigh thank you what no thank you thank you okay so a representative group parents who are petitioning for the in-school learning option for our children in the clifton public school system since the creation of our petition that we wrote the other day we have close to signatures and um oh i believe it's 149 last time i checked and i asked that you guys read it truly and consider it we came together as a group because um we continue to see the detrimental effects that the school closings are having on our children all our children learn differently and um many are falling behind academically they don't do well with this new method of learning automatically they children with special needs and learning disabilities need the benefits of professionals who actually know what they're doing you know like educators who have the training the experience the skill set the untrained parents who are like forced to like divide their time between work and and becoming a teacher like it's just unfair like many parents are concerned with the impact that the lockdown is having on on their children's mental health and like when you observe the depression like i i see it in a kid like the depression anxiety and the overall decline in their spirit due to the school's closing uh they're in a critical age of development and need socialization and interaction that they receive from their friends and their teachers that only in school experiment conspiracy in school experience provides sorry forgive me um the school drafted up a well-thought-out plan to reopen that they obviously had faith in you guys have faith in that one time but uh we don't understand why the sudden reversal lastly there's an impact on the family as a whole many parents who are fortunate enough to work from home are forced to divide their attention between trying to learn how to be teachers and maintaining work responsibilities parents who don't have the work from home option um are left to fend for themselves to deal with the additional child care costs i mean in in what is now an unpredictable economy unpredictable economy this burning is particularly um particularly hard on a significant number of single parents who are who were already dealing with the challenges that come from being a skilled parent and have no resources to add additional undertaking of being a full-time teacher i mean just in-school learning can be done safely with the plan that our school system has already have in place child care has been available to essential workers and camps have been open for over the course of the entire summer with no issues i mean we're not suggesting that you take away the home school thing that's the three minutes remote learning but you know we just want to be able to utilize the in-school option only all parents are guaranteed option um i mean we fund the public school system and what i'm saying is like if it's there why can't we use it what what we should be able to use it should be an object if the people don't feel safe don't send the cool the kids to school but it should be there because the people who danny the three minutes is done okay well thank you for your time guys thank you sir some guys you said half of people want next up we have iphone but i see you're having audio connection issues we have um mark runciak yes speaking can you hear me yes okay before we before we actually go to the next individual i just want to say that um we're having i know there's a storm coming through and there are a few commissioners that said this lights were flickering so in the event that um you know i go out or something um madam vice chair basford obviously will take over if anybody else you know we'll let people come back in so just to let everybody know um there's a storm and obviously lightning and we don't know what might happen so we don't want anyone to think we're not you know we're shutting this portion down which that right now there's a lot of lightning we just don't know what might happen um okay so the next person to speak is mark brunsiak if you get you hear me yes said if you could just um state your address for the record yeah 20 holly street and you have three minutes to address whatever's on the agenda thank you thank you everybody for allowing me to speak tonight uh it continues to be very frustrating for me and my family and and several of my friends and family uh even as dr rover robert tosi described earlier with the new cases that recently uptick in clifton amongst children between three months old and 18 years it's maybe two percent it's maybe two percent of of the body of students that are that are able to go to school and all the precautionary measures were there yet it was forced down our throats and you use this as a crutch to say that it is not safe to have in-person instruction even though there are plastic dividers and everything in addition to all the other mitigating mitigations possibly doing that and the school board voted eight to one to not do that and uh somebody please correct me if i'm wrong but i even think that somebody on this school board works at another local district and they have the option of in-person learning and all remote learning so if that possibility is there it could be over here too so i want to let everybody so please correct me if i'm wrong and i want to thank you dana beltran for voting no on all remote because the courage that you have and the 50 percent of parents that want in-person education for their children it's very important to all of us and we will remember you the next time there is an election also to the teachers who refuse to return in classroom shame on you it is your turn there are frontline workers that have been exposed around other people with the covid19 risking their lives every day since march since mid-march and it is months later and there were over 200 people involved to to have a reopening option an in-person reopening option and all of a sudden they do a complete 180 and people have scrambled to try to do whatever they can to try to accommodate their their children who need to go to school this september so uh it's your turn there are grocery clerks out there who make maybe half maybe a third maybe a quarter of what these teachers earn and it is your turn there are more than enough if they could stand there for eight to ten hours per day with a mask on with gloves on and you're you're in classrooms with 15 children with 15 of the same children all day you have a chance to do this too thank you everybody for allowing me to speak and god bless america thank you the next person will be i'm going to read off the next couple we have clace followed by alice sheppy followed by ipad 3.

and then a phone caller ending in zero seven three one by the way i'm i'm muting you right now so we have a little feedback and then josh rubin clay if you can if you could state your name and your address and you have three minutes to address something on the agenda thank you place place you are muted okay place there will be also another um public recognition so i don't know if clay's dropped off um so next we have alice sheppy alice sheppy if you could state your name you are muted so please unmute yourself if you could state your name and where you live as long as you're not a student you're muted alice cheffy or muted hello everyone can you hear me yes we can you can just state your name and your address sure my name is alice sheppy i live at 177 hadley avenue my son um will be going to um clifton high um next month his name you don't have to state his name i wanted to see if there was a way that the kids that actually want to go to school can sign a covet waiver that their parents cannot sue the district if they contract the disease or there's no legal issues i think the parents have a right if they want to risk their kids health to sign that waiver that it's their rights i think that will help us move further along i chose to do remote because i will not risk my kid's life i won't do it i won't even risk mine um i go to work in glove shield and ppe and i let my clients sign the waiver saying that they don't have covet and if they should be sick coughing i can exit them out the building without touching them by calling security we don't have that luxury in a public school setting however i have seen that a lot of parents would like their kids to go to school so is there a way that we can sign a waiver of those who want in person classroom so that we can move further in regards to curriculum assignment book drops and so forth like i just found out my child was actually accepted in school two days ago and i don't know what i need to get what supplies i need to get because we are stuck in limbo which could cause the school year to start later than september 8th and that was just it okay miss sheppy um comments will be responded to possibly your comment some part of your comment might be responded to at the end of this by dr robert chozi so we're not responding individually right now just understand that thank you um who is the next person uh looks like the ipad has left um so next up we have the phone caller ending in zero seven three one phone caller ending in zero seven three one yes hello student no i am uh okay so you could just state your name and where you and your address thank you vincent capruccio 29 fernwood court um my question i have two two things my one my one question is for mr prasenti you're very adamant about teachers returning to school this coming week my question is if teachers are going to be returning to school without students why our teachers that are in a classroom all day long not allowed to have their conditioning on or required to wear a mask and a shield and why isn't the board of ed at school six having their meeting tonight if it's so important to be back in the buildings and you guys are still virtual um i believe that my other my other statement or question whatever you want to however you want to put it is when they do the amb schedule and or or let's say my son or daughter is going from room out of the high school southwind 208 to central wing 209 for their next class who's cleaning the classrooms in between when the bell rings when the kids are in the hallway i understand you guys are going to have people cleaning the school after hours but what about during the day when kids are in the school because you can't there's no way they're going to be able to control 3 000 kids to keep on their maths and their and everything in that high school and there's there's there's going to be there's going to there's going to be a chance of cross contamination anyway i think the whole thing personally by the way i think the whole thing is bs i don't i don't i'm not one of the people that wear a mask square shield i don't even support that i think cobit is less dangerous than the flu um but i think it's ridiculous that different rules and regulations are applying to different people in different situations with different things school should just be reopened and it should be optional to wear a mask my kid should not have to wear masks he doesn't want to and your kids shouldn't have to wear a mask if he doesn't want to nor should they be forced to and that's what i've said what i had to say and thank you and again board members will respond in their comments so um you know right now we're not responding to any comments we're just listening and taking notes thank you very much next caller yes we have um several people came and went so now we have max reuben nassar abdelhali hadi and mark delgado max rubin are you a student uh yes i am a student okay then please don't state where you are just state what it is on the agenda that you'd like to address thank you welcome okay thank you um so hello i'm max rubin i am the senior representative to the board of education so from now on i will try to make some sort of address to you guys at every board of ed meeting from now on um it's an honor to be a part of this organization um thank you so much dr robert tosie for doing such an amazing job and for putting so much hard work in into this whole reopening program um i always said i'm so glad that we got a new superintendent when we did it was it was about time and you've you've done phenomenal so far um and same for all the board of ed members um one major development that's been going on for the past couple weeks as you guys know um marching band camp for the high school has been going on for two weeks i am a senior and i'm a member of the marching band have been for four years and so far it's been a blast it's been really safe everybody's been social distancing everybody's been wearing a mask except for when we're doing aerobic activity and when we are we're spreading apart like an appropriate distance so it's been incredibly safe mr stapnesky and all the directors have been doing a really good job taking a lot of precautions and we already have a plan for a possible show that hopefully we'll get to put on in the future if not at a football game hopefully some other event but it's been a blast so far and i can't wait to see where it goes from here hopefully we'll get to represent the hard work we put in so far these two weeks it's been two and a half hours every morning a half an hour just for checking in and making sure everyone's temperature is good and making sure no one has any symptoms and two other hours of marching and playing and it's been great um other than that i did have one question um that doesn't have to do with marching band it has to do with um school supplies and someone brought up during the last meeting i'm not sure which i think it might have been miss kusalevich brought up that they're trying to avoid having to print entirely for the school and what what came to my mind is how would you go about that what would you do what would you supply to the students so that they wouldn't have to print because i know most students either don't have printers or they have like an inkjet printer and the ink runs out every month or so and then it costs a bunch of money for a new inkjet so what methods would you guys use so that students wouldn't have to print consistently throughout the year that's my question thank you thank you thank you max and again um dr arbitosi after this will have um time to address if he wants to or in his um closing comments will definitely address what questions he you know from from the public portion of the comments so again we're not addressing it individually thank you okay thank you thanks max who's next um nasser has left so we have merc delgado uh yes if you could just state your name and your address for the record and then you may have your three minutes thank you hi i'm mercedes delgado aviles and i live in cambridge crossings i have a high school age child and a middle school-aged child and i really i guess i just have a statement i'm a hospital pediatrician and i have taken care of many young people with covid and one of the things that parents always say is i wish i had understood that it could be this severe i wish that the parents of my child's friend understood that having a covet test because her brother has coveted she comes out negative doesn't mean that she can go out that if you're a contact and you get a covet test a negative test doesn't mean you don't have covet it just means that right now you don't have covet there are a number of situations where people rely on that negative test they don't quarantine for the 14 days they think they're well they walk outside and they think because they're outside and walking that they don't need to wear a mask and kids get sick some kids handle it very well and some kids get very sick at this time we're seeing an increase in cases of children from 12 to 18 and 19 years old a 30 increase it's not a joke when you i'm looking at a parent who sees that their child is getting progressively sicker and sicker and sicker and more on the oxygen and now needs to transfer to the icu they all say the same thing i wish i understood because i could quote numbers but the numbers don't matter when it's your child it's a hundred percent who cares that that seventy percent of the children are okay if you fall in that thirty percent it's your whole world and if if you have a family of four children and you have one really sick you don't know that the other three are not going to go down the same path so as difficult as i know this is because everyone wants to get back to normal my children would love for me to say the pandemic is over we can go back it is all going to be great but the reality is it's not right now we have remdi severe as the only medication that we can give to anyone less than 18 years old convalescent plasma is not approved unless you are 18 years old and older so it's a very very serious thing i suspect that the parents who would want to sign a waiver if it happened to their child they would say but i was a parent and i didn't know and i trusted you guys as professionals to know and to protect me so as much pressure i think as people are being given and at some point maybe we do have to reopen the schools and let folks take their chances i want folks to remember you know if your kid gets sick it is three minutes miss danny i'm sorry you know are you gonna be okay with that decision that you made thank you very thank you mr mountain uh ladies and gentlemen of the board tonight you approved my recommendation to appoint vanessa gaba as the new principal of christopher columbus middle school and she'd just like an opportunity to say a few words to the board good evening everybody president danny vice president basford commissioners of the board of education superintendent dr robertosi assistant superintendents mr t gen and miss kusalevich i would like to thank you for affording me the opportunity to lead a building that i have come to absolutely love having started my career as a teacher at woodrow wilson middle school then transitioning into the role of vice principal at christopher columbus middle school it has become exceedingly clear that the students and staff at both middle schools represent the core of one clifton and it is our goal to work collaboratively under that mantra to support the district's vision to all our champs on the ccms staff thank you our journey together continues because of all your hard work and support finally i want the students parents and staff to know that while we are currently experiencing very difficult and challenging times there is no doubt that together we will overcome this most unique situation as one clifton once again thank you for this opportunity have a great evening and everyone please stay safe and healthy thank you miss gabba congratulations once again thank you very much congratulations thank you okay miss danny we have six or seven many are repeats from the first session so i'm not sure if everyone intends to speak if you can hear us right now in the zoom if you don't want to speak feel free to to bow out and watch the live stream um otherwise i'll call on you in such in the same manner as before first up is jennifer's iphone followed by samsung galaxy s8 followed by maori rolldown jennifer's iphone is having audio difficulties so we'll move on to samsung galaxy s8 samsung galaxy if you could just state your name again and address for the record and unmute yourself you're next thank you okay i believe they've left next is miserable done also left um next up is merc delgado mercedes delgado if you can state your name and um again address for the record and you have five minutes this time to speak thank you okay mercedes delgado avilas and i'm in the cambridge crossings um uh i when i left off before i was commenting on what's available to us for our children who are less than 18 years old right now we only have one medication um and if we just would try and give it a little more time we maybe will have something else that we could roll out and i know everybody's impatient everybody wants to get the kids in um uh there was a gentleman who commented that the younger age groups were doing very well the daycares were doing very well and and that is indeed the case um but i think middle schoolers high schoolers uh it spreads and it spreads because people don't think they're sick and they don't cover and you you we would want to believe that no one's going to come to school feeling like they have a head cold or feeling like they have sinusitis but if they think that it's something minor they're going to come to school and when the kids leave uh their mass will be off right so adults yes i work in a hospital i go to work i have full ppe if i don't know if a patient has covet i go with full ppe but children are children and as much as we want them to rise above that and be more mature and have respect for this virus and and do all the things they don't they're kids you know and so i i think we have to consider that when we make our decision it's it's sending a child to school is not the same as an adult going to work we as adults know to be responsible children as much as you can speak to them and there's some that are very mature uh we can't count that they'll all be mature and and and do all that we actually so that's that's the only comment i had uh patience you know patience a few more months maybe we'll have something else that we can roll out and when it's treatable then you say well okay you know maybe then it's the risk of of getting the illness is okay because we have something we could do and in maybe a few weeks they'll be back in school and you know it'll be like any other illness but right now we still don't have enough for the kids that we're looking at for children we don't have enough available to them okay that's all my comments thank you very much tough just tough decisions you know i i i wouldn't want to be the one to make the decision i'm thankful that you guys are have stepped up to the task thank you miss delgado next person to speak is uh just a reminder if you are planning to speak turn off the live stream please uh next up we have lorila llama followed by wasilla followed by jennifer's iphone ms lorila llama you know name and everything yes good evening to everybody tonight i want to continue to thank can you hear me yeah well solo your turn is next please please wait a moment lori thank you i want to thank everybody and continue to thank everybody for everything that we've been going through the administration all the committees all the supervisors the principals the vice principals board of ed members this continues to be very difficult so i received some information from some of the staff members and i want to share it with you and you don't have to answer it now you can answer it later but this was some concerns that i received regarding last week there was a motion on the floor to vote to keep the students remote and it was voted on by the board and passed however there was never a motion placed on the table during the board meeting to vote on staff for returning that was left to the superintendent's discretion the motion was to begin 2021 school year remotely to be reviewed october 1st with a possible return date of october 12th according to robert's rules a motion must be placed and two oppositions would not defer the right to adopt consensus meaning the majority vote would still stand in this case then the decision to send teachers back to the building was solely of the superintendent additionally according to executive order 175 outlined by the new jersey school boards association website number seven mentions that school's ability to go full-time remote should they be unable to comply with the outlined items in number two uk outlines adequate ventilation how do we keep children home due to ventilation issues but require adults to enter and work from these school buildings ventilation is still a concern we need to follow the recommendations of the cdc and the american society of heating and refrigeration and air conditioning engineers districts should increase ventilation with outdoor air to ensure that the air exchange rate is set at the minimum standard set by this group increase our air filtration by upgrading filters to merv 13 and our still is set at seven or eight or higher to ensure that indoor co2 levels are at or below the recommended standard filtering and circulating indoor air with fresh air is critical to reducing uh the virus isolation rooms should have a dedicated hvac system prevent the air from mixing with any other spaces in the school unfortunately much of this is impossible with outdated systems which is why remote learning is necessary until the air and ventilation issues are resolved if there was a way there's a checklist that i have that i could send to make sure that our systems and there's enough ventilation because that's the main concern is the ventilation because um our hvac systems is only heat and there's no incoming air some of the windows are broken in the older buildings so my concern is still for the health and safety of the people that are going into the buildings and later on when the kids come back that's going to be my um that's my concern so i would rather be considered a selfish educator rather than a dead martyr so i really want people to understand that i'm not doing this out of you know not getting daycare for parents because i was a single parent too i had two kids and i had to come up with ideas but to protect the kids and the staff and the administration i'm sure feels the same way we have to take care of our kids and everybody who works in the school system just as the previous speaker mrs delgado spoke it's really important um that is i hope everybody has a very good evening tonight and thank you thank you miss lalama you as well next speaker a few have left and joined so the next three are wasilla chloe popowicz and jason miller was silla hi yeah can you hear me are you a student with no i'm a parent okay just state your name and your address and then you have five minutes to address the board thank you sure thank you uh my name is missella benazella i live in 257 seventh street in clifton um i actually have a question regarding the remote uh teaching so uh if we if clifton public schools are going to be remote for i don't know how many um days or months i'll say um my question is is it going to be any sort of in a direct teaching online like i'll give you an example like a zoom system where the teacher will be teaching from the classroom or home or whatever and then she will be directly teaching the kids while they're staying home or is it going to be like the spring session where the teacher used to send like the work and i have to teach my child and a lot of parents were struggling with it so uh basically that is my question i would love to know if the board has a specific system where the kids are going to be connected directly to the teacher and doing the work online basically thank you thank you and again the comments will be addressed later in possibly board member comments thank you okay um chloe popowicz again if your student just you don't need to state your address otherwise state your name and address okay um when we when will we receive our schedules and while christian high school provided sats for the current seniors there are many students who are traveling out of state and have to quarantine for two weeks after taking the test thank you and again um miss pop which will we will um any of the board members that wish to address or um dr robertosi will in his comments so thank you very much next person to speak jason miller mr miller if you could please state your name and address and you have five minutes to address the board thank you yeah uh jason miller uh 36 conova court um i don't have any questions i just have a couple comments um first i just want to say thank you to the entire board there for the job you're doing during these times i know it's hard i know you're getting a lot of criticism from both sides um i was i have a parent i mean a student in high school and a student in element middle school i was one who we the kids wanted to go back to school but at this point we completely understand the decision that was made and the reasons why so again i just want to commend you guys for the job that you're doing i know it's a tough job that you're doing getting all the criticism that's first and second of all um as the hsa vice president of christopher columbus middle school i want to congratulate ms gaba on her new position and uh just uh congratulate you guys and say it was a terrific decision to make her the new uh principal at the school so that's it everybody stay safe but again like i said you guys i just want to thank you guys and especially mr robert tozie the job that he's been doing as the new superintendent um you know just uh keep going and and we'll get through this and get the kids back in school when when it's safe for everybody thanks thank you mr mitchell anyone else uh no miss danny i'm not seeing anyone else next order of business is board member comments um and i think uh is it miss beltram is it you that will be next i don't remember yeah [Music] okay so miss beltram you're muted if you could unmute okay guys i'll take it quick and sweet tonight i'm happy that um we've been able to come together as a board and work through some of our issues that we had around the openings of the schools and i'm happy to see that we're going to attempt to have the teachers in the classrooms i think it will really benefit the children's of of clifton and i really hope we wind up with enough uh chromebooks that everyone can have their own chromebook um as soon as possible if not for the start of school i think that'll really be crucial to the continuity of the learning um that's going on and everyone continue to be safe and um have a good start of the school year it'll be here as soon as you know it i think you know two weeks um i hope all the staff members get everything together quickly um and again the board is here to support everyone and um and feel free to call in or email us we are getting tons of emails but it's actually great to see the town participating um so widely and that's all i have um have a good night thank you miss beltram uh mr kanova hey good evening uh first congratulations to miss gaba i know you're going to do a great job at ccns i'm looking forward to seeing there um i want to extend my sincerest condolences to former board of ed larry grosso and his family on the passing of his life um your family will be in our thoughts and prayers so this school issue has been pretty much a difficult decision because i opted in both surveys to send my kids back you heard me agree with everyone else and say that people shouldn't go back um and the reason for that is when i took this position i'm not only worrying about my two children i'm worrying about 11 000 children in the district and that's a difficult task because you have to take into consideration not only like in my situation i have like i said two children we live here me and my wife i don't have elders in the house with me so it's not necessarily an issue but in clifton we do have scenarios where people are living with elderly in their homes and with multiple families and multiple multiple family homes um daycare is an issue in the past they may have gone to an aunt's house a grandmother's house to to be watched while mom and dad went to work so those are all areas of consideration and if you look at what was presented to us from the clinton board of health they're basically saying there's an uptick in the kids [Music] in those age ranges from 1909 and that's concerning because if there is something that does come up we don't want to be the ones that maybe someone has to go to school or even put a parent in a position where they could choose for the kids to be in an unsafe environment um so for me the defer was was a difficult choice but considering it is only a couple of weeks and we can view the climate and what's around us and see what happens in other districts um that's the reason why i started the defer so that's just my two cents on it i'd rather be safe than sorry in this scenario let's just give it a couple weeks as danny said um it's not really a board decision it's a superintendent decision but you know we are supportive of his decision in that um and we are working well together uh as much much as we can meeting as many times as we can in subcommittees going over health concerns going over uh remote support issues that we just spoke about in the technology minutes um so we're doing the best we can and and we do want to hear from everyone if you have issues definitely reach out to us if you want to hear all the the uh positions of people i hope we come together in the next couple of weeks and just pull through this and guitar start on october 12th thank you thank you mr nova mr daily yes thank you very much um just uh i'll just be very brief uh first of all and foremost i'd like to thank uh i congratulate miss gaba on her uh appointment to being principal of christopher columbus i wish her much success and when she says it's a great school i've heard that from from many many other people so uh we look forward to you keeping the strong traditions of christopher columbus and providing this support to your staff and educating our children to the best of our ability um there's no question these these are tough decisions they're not easy um i'm one that listens more than flaps my jaws but you do have to on the whole i think we've made the right decision uh i understand everybody's anxiety i've had many discussions with their superintendent that there's no substitute for in classroom learning and i think mostly educators and parents would agree with that but we do have to be prudent and wise about what we do and ultimately it's superintendent's decision but i think we've come to a good enough consensus um there's several of us here on the board who are considered essential workers we've and the key to uh to this as we can all testify is to practice the right safety measures and that includes wearing a mask uh i know my uh my workplace um there's several thousand people in the building at any particular moment um i keep an eye out for both the public and the staff and virtually everyone in the building has a mask and maybe some other uh ppe but they all have the best it's a requirement and when we follow these rules we can um start to lessen the uh the transmission of this disease so i think we all have a role to play even if you're not a frontline worker to understand that and if we all and everybody in town practices those types of things we can cut down the transmission significantly and it'd be a much easier decision to open the school so this is not only the board making a decision but the towns folks and the parents in particular need to be in a controlled position and enforcing what's important so we can open the schools with a lot less rancor and and and divisiveness on this issue but at this point in time the way the uh the transmission rate or the pace rate is up uh we have to error on the side of caution uh and i think we all agree this is not a long term we know these things can change quickly one way or the other so we were all keeping our eye on how the how these transmissions and cases are going and that's really what's driving i think both the superintendent but he can speak for himself but certainly my decision to support the superintendent in this way i wish everybody stay healthy and please public be prudent understand what's at stake you can control this much more than we can here at the board of education thank you very much thank you mr daley mr casper yes thank you madam president i'd first like to um congratulate miss gaba on her new endeavor i'm excited to see um how uh columbus will move forward now i'd also like to uh send out a special congratulations of our teacher of the year our passaic county teacher of the year miss megan graziano from clifton high school i had the pleasure of watching her receive her award yesterday uh what else do i have okay i'd like to thank all of the retirees that had put in for their retirement this time around i thank you for your hard work and dedication to our school district and i'd also like to thank all of our speakers that had come out this evening even though uh the decision of the board was to go remote um i'd rather see our students and if possible our teachers uh be safe during this pandemic uh since i for me i would like to ensure that everyone is safe and that um nobody is um will be hurt or anything during this pandemic um so i'd like to see everyone stay safe and uh make sure that uh everybody comes back to school safely and in a safe manner thank you thank you mr casper mr pacenti thank you um first i would like to send my uh condolences to the grass family larry was a great um board member uh supporter and um it's a shame to lose his wife laura who would work for the police department uh in the records bureau for a long long time we've known each other most of my career so condolences to uh his family his daughter and rest in peace um secondly i know i've been contacted many times by emails about bringing teachers to the classroom uh first let me explain everything properly i wanted also the students to be in the classroom dr robert told you kids could attest to that i wanted everything to be open and us moving forward as a district however uh i always say i'll support dr robert ozzie and his decisions uh he made the decision he is a superintendent he runs this district and all i can do is give my support to him and that's why um i supported him not sending students as for teachers honestly i think it's the best learning environment for the situation and um i hope people understand that i know there's a lot of distractions at home and if they're in a classroom teaching we don't have to rely on parents as much as that we have in the past and that's where my decision lies and it stands um people need to understand where i am i've been through this working every day with kobe uh haven't stopped there was times we didn't have masks prior to knowing how bad this disease is and we worked through it i brought it to my family there's times that i you know stayed away from everybody because i wasn't sure what i was getting myself into um and it's it's a stressful situation so i understand so we're at a position now i think that we know a little more about it i think the teacher should be safe with it we're removing the students i think um they'll be they could distance themselves from other other teachers they don't have to share classrooms and i think it's the way to go um and i'm not gonna be bullied or demeaned through email or text is about why i made my decision so i stick with that decision and i hope every uh we all stay safe i don't want to see anybody get hurt but again the best learning environment for this situation for now back to the class and i thank you probably for making that that's all i have thank you mr presentee mr smith uh yes i too uh would like to send my condolences to um larry grosso uh and his family on the passing of his wife uh larry is a very good friend and uh uh i know must be a very difficult time for him and his family so we send our condolences um vanessa gabba like to congratulate you on your appointment to principal at christopher columbus i know your heart and soul is there at columbus and i know you'll do a wonderful job and you'll have the support of your board behind you and also to the passaic county teacher of the year megan graziano teacher in the high school for a great accomplishment i should be proud of yourselves and we're very proud of you for the award i continue my support as i have from day one for virtual instruction um again we are not we're not professionals in this area we rely on the advice of professionals um many times we've relied on the uh [Music] the advice of dr fauci on tv from the cdc from different avenues and one of the the most compelling uh avenues or backing to professional advice was the final word that we got in our special meeting from our director of health in the city of clifton by mr beagle where he was point blank asked uh would you open the buildings right now based upon the information and the numbers you were given and he said no he would not uh open the buildings uh so i stand upon his advice and until those numbers change until the advice from professionals can tell us that our buildings are safe for students and staff i will not support any other means of of educating other than virtual until we're told otherwise and then as of october first we'll reevaluate that situation as well we talked about schools and schools being safe and the safety of students and staff and that is uh utmost in in my mind but i also have concern of staff that is not in schools for example uh all of our staff at school number six school number six is a very old building many of those windows don't work don't open ventilation system is very poor uh how safe is our staff at school number six many people work throughout the entire summer remotely so they didn't have to go into school number six um so i think that has to be looked at how safe is our transportation garage how safe is our staff there how safe is our staff down at the stadium i think all those things have been overlooked and i think they need to be looked at as well as well as talking about the safety of the schools i would like to just take a a moment miss danny if i would to just um address uh something that happened at our last uh regular meeting um as some of you may be aware i did experience a medical emergency shortly after our meeting started right to briefly explain what took place i do suffer from a chronic illness chronic migraines i was diagnosed with them at the age of 15 and have suffered most of my life with them chronic migraine is a real chronic disease it is very debilitating and hinders my ability at times to have a normal quality of life i've been to numerous specialist hospitals gone through numerous testing numerous procedures medicines to deal with my migraines with very little or no improvement right now there is no cure for migraines migraines can come on me at any time without warning or signs that one is coming some people do get an aura which is a warning however i am not so fortunate to be able to be one of those people that get a warning so last regular meeting shortly after our meeting started i started to get a severe pain in my head accompanied with slight numbness in my hands as well as nausea again since i had no warning that this migraine had come upon me it was at full force many people including myself do pass out and become unconscious from the migraine during my migraine i did go in and out of consciousness and finally at one point became totally unconscious for the remainder of the meeting because i was unconscious i was unable to turn my camera off or totally leave the meeting while all meetings are important i felt this meeting was particularly important to discuss the reopening of the schools for the new school year right or wrong i always put the needs of the staff and the students before my own unless i tried my best to fight the migraine and remain in the meeting i wish to thank my fellow board members for the care and concern by contacting me personally to check on me i wish to thank so many of the public who commented publicly on the computer through emails and through phone calls they meant the world to me it was truly touching to see that during a medical emergency that people are there for you i personally like to make to thank my dear friends vinnie and diane constantino who came to my place where i live to check on me very late at night to make sure that i was okay i truly thank both of them foreseeing me through this medical emergency and for coming to my assistance thank you all for understanding and for allowing me the opportunity to explain what took place thank you miss danny thank you mr smith mr abu drabo thank you ms danny i'm gonna keep it really brief um everybody touched on various things but um just like my colleagues i want to give uh mike knowlton regross of a family to larry and his family uh larry may uh god bless your wife in heaven and also figure for any shortcomings that she may have in life um and uh anything you know my prayers with uh uh miss gaba as a a ccms alum congratulations and good luck looking forward to what ccms has to bring in the coming years um and i mean listen i'm gonna i'm not gonna beat a dead horse because all my colleagues spoke about you know the the opening the pros and cons of each decision we spoke about in the past so all right you know and that's all i have to say so thank you thank you mr abu drabo madam vice chair basford uh thank you um um president danny um deepest condolences to larry grasso on the passing of your wife uh during this difficult time uh we all extend our sympathy to you and and and your family um god bless our soul and very sorry for your loss uh miss gabba i knew you from woodrow wilson and when i was informed of the um promotion and the placement that was uh going to be awarded to you i stopped for a moment and i thought wow perfect fit what a success story christopher columbus is going to be with your leadership your guidance and your professionalism by the way i exhibited your tenderness your care and your diligence to the children at woodrow wilson many moons ago i know this is going to be a home run for the district so welcome and congratulations in your new position i am so excited for you um at the last special meeting um there was an issue with one of the speakers and i had a i had a check with a friend of mine that is a what i call a robert rules of order expert or an rro junkie before i could get my words out of my mouth the person on the other end of the phone said judy you did the right thing you have the right under page 96 of rro to control the meeting to make sure that everybody is going to be respectable to your guests bob foster is a guest he's a colleague and he came to the meeting with valuable information so that's what i did i apologize i apologize in the email that's it and that's how i'm gonna address it i did the right thing because under that rule i have to maintain order and i have to make sure that our guests are comfortable and not being attacked so i'm never going to speak about it again if the person wants to contact me be my guest carlos rodriguez interim county superintendent is leaving he's retiring his last day is the 31st of august i personally am going to miss that man dearly he's been an asset on the county level in the state level he's been a friend to this board and his i hope his replacement can fit those shoes as well as he did because he was an asset to our board a big congratulations to megan graziano passaic county teacher of the year what an award to bring to clifton i don't know if it's ever happened before that clifton has ever been recognized in this manner but i watched it live i know frank was on the same meeting yesterday and it was awesome to watch 21 special teachers with dedication receive that award now what happens with that award is one one of those 21 members get to be the teacher of the year for the state of new jersey and i hear it's quite the honor and they have a platform and they get a lot of different accolades from it and i am so blessed to know that clifton's out clifton's own teacher got that award so thank you for your dedication to the science department at chs i i i was grateful i was so excited to hear your name and your speech and she thanked each of us as board members and the administration and her colleagues that made her the teacher she is today so bravo um good luck to our staff as you guys prepare for our new normal um our teachers and our staff i have no doubt will rise to the occasion and they will rise to this challenge of the new normal although i am not speaking for the board i speak for myself and i am worried about the feeling of uncomfortable and as a person i got to experience that new normal uncomfortable feeling yesterday at work went back after five months messed up went in and did what i had to do driving home in the car was challenging i have a husband that has underlining health issues so i had to stay with my mask when i go upstairs in my house my mask goes on so i know the challenge that you are all worried about my accommodation and my beliefs was given an optional and optional um status to people let them go in if they want to i know people want to get back to normal i know students want to get back to normal i know staff wants to get back to normal and i know some of the teachers really want to get in there i wish it was optional and i'm sorry that i couldn't make it that way as a board member we are given information to make informed decisions and the one decision that will permeate with me for the rest of my late days i think i'm going on 12 years now miss danny i think it's almost 12 years now we're on this board is when the city's chief health officer gives that recommendation that's why i made my decision and i will stick to it until the day i do no longer breathe i have i have an opportunity we are the stewards of the taxpayer dollars but we also have to make decisions based on the information that we are given and i made my decision appropriately so dr robitazi i support you 100 and you made this decision and we are going to make it work with whatever we have to do but i just wish it was optional for our staff because i have concerns but that's just me with that being said congratulations on everybody that's going to start a new year's school i know it's been challenging for people all over the place and to a personal note to my daughter who has gone above and beyond the call of duty at her residence hall way to go sam you're a good egg good night and thank you very much thank you uh madam vice chair of ashford um so first of all i'd like to say condolences to larry grasso on the passing of his wife and um condolences to his family for this difficult time i'd like to say congratulations to vanessa gabba and megan graziano for obviously in different positions but again great achievements and i did want to say that i do receive emails as i'm sure that you know many board members have stated they do receive numerous emails um we are told you know to direct them to the superintendent and not respond to them so i just want you to know that i do read them um i think about what is being stated anything that needs to be passed along to the superintendent i do do that um and i don't want to speak for obviously my fellow board members but i think that you know again just knowing in the past they have said the same thing that when they get emails if it needs to pass to the superintendent they they do that um now the reopen um as you all know i am a teacher in a district um we are currently going into a hybrid um the governor governor murphy you know he put it there and said well let every school district take a look at locally what their concerns are and open um based on what their local concerns are and so pretty much we always just get guidance last minute or and that's led to a lot of these issues um because it's last minute and then you know we don't want to just put in um staff and children based on what we see locally is happening i'm an educator i feel for my fellow educators there are many that don't want to go in at this time i mean looking at just the clifton district aside from you know the chief health official what he was saying that this wasn't you know he wouldn't advise reopening those classrooms are old brick buildings very hot teachers students going in when you get bodies like that in there it makes it even hotter and yes we know what we signed on as educators which is obviously it's a hot building and we go into those hot buildings and not complain and make any issue of it but to be in there with ppe gear when it is so hot and with students you know that that just i'll just that to me that's just it's just inhumane and so you know i am fully supportive of looking at it in october it's cooler you can open up the windows when you go into the hot building now and you open up the windows it's stagnant and again i have asked my fellow board commissioners to go in there with me with how many i think the maximum would be 15 in a room 15 of us whoever wants to go in maybe some of those parents that um would like to reopen would like to experience it just themselves because you know sometimes experiencing is best best way and you know let's go ride the bus let's you know sit in the classroom um bring our computers and you know our little snack or whatever and experience the whole day and you know see how it is again i mean when you're sweating it's really hard i mean it's easy for everyone to say when you're in air conditioning but when you're not in air conditioning i know that at board meetings when it got really hot in that board room and that's nowhere near what a september building is there were board members i'm not saying these board members specifically there were board members that were complaining it is hot in here and it was nowhere near september so i just feel it's very inhumane um if it was up to me you know i would make it optional for those that want to go into a building there are many teachers that do want to go in the building there are many teachers that want to have in person um you know if the teachers want to be in the building and they want to teach from there there's less distractions for them i would not be opposed to that um again i leave it up to the superintendent um to decide because again i cast in my vote you know to hire him so i trust uh what he will do and you know his guidance and he has been an educator he's come up the ranks so he understands how it is um he's walked those halls he's walked the buildings um he knows his staff and you know happy staff equals success in you know it for for the students it's all better for the students i mean disgruntled employees i don't even want to tell you you know what happens with disgruntled employees so again i think that you know in my opinion i'm happy that we have done the remote because it's very very hot and with the poor ventilation in the buildings and and everything and with the numbers going um up and some of the students again they can transmit it uh i am you know i am fine with my what i had voted on for the reopen to be remote um again i know you can't please everybody and i know that there are people that are upset and when this happened in march it was unprecedented and we didn't complain as teachers we didn't say we're not going to do anything were there teachers that maybe did did nothing were there principles that did nothing were there vice principles that did nothing of course there are always you know terrible teachers as there are terrible cops as there are terrible fire fire fighters as there are terrible dentists as there are terrible doctors need i go on but then there are also those that are great and that go above and beyond and do what is above and beyond so again i know it's not the ideal situation i know for myself i wish it was just a vaccine and we could all just get back to normal but it's not it's easier for me to go into a classroom to teach the kids i have everything set up i'm a you know veteran teacher of 18 years and i know how to go this is a totally different new normal i have to redo my lessons scrap them do everything it's it would be easier to go into the classroom and just teach five days a week um so but again i can understand those concerns of others who have you know compromised immunity and again so i think that you know in my opinion the call that i made my decision i can live with it um and so in regards to it's coming to the end of summer it's just a few more days left students staff enjoy have a great rest of the summer and um you know enjoy your labor day and you know we'll see you in the new normal thank you you uh madam president i'd like to make a few superintendent comments and then a couple minutes to answer some of the questions that came up tonight and i'll probably ask janina to help me with a couple of those answers so first and foremost um megan graziano congratulations uh everyone should know that this is the first time a teacher from clifton has been named the passaic county teacher of beards the first time in our history so uh not only is it an incredible accomplishment in and of itself but it's something that hasn't been done before in clifton so megan now is one of 21 in the state one of those teachers will be named the state teacher of the year what does that mean well obviously it's a great honor being named the state teacher of the year but megan would also get a car she would get um an allow a wardrobe allowance and then and this is kind of the worst part for the district she actually um would get a years um a year away from the district to work for the new jersey department of education as an ambassador so that's kind of the bad part your name teacher of the year and if you win though you have to leave the classroom for a year but it would be a great experience and we're certainly rooting rooting for megan to to not only represent clifton but to represent the entire state congratulations megan uh we're truly truly proud of you some other news this week governor murphy introduced his the revised budget for the state and as of now there are no additional cuts to k-12 education that is good news we hope that continues as as this board knows and i think most of the community knows we already took a 5.3 million dollar uh reduction in state aid that we were expecting so any more could have been disastrous as of now uh that's not happening thankfully yesterday we started our new teacher orientation uh and this year for the first year it's a three-day orientation so yesterday i had the opportunity to welcome 54 new teachers to our district they're going to have three days of training that includes all sorts of things like the google meets the whole google suite or pbsis program they'll get some curricular instruction learn about hib learn about our link it where our student data is they're also going to have a workshop on cultural awareness with clifton being one of the most diverse cities in the state um so it was really nice to to see uh to see these teachers and i wanted to share with everyone the advice that i gave them it's the advice that i give all new teachers and it's there's three things the first thing i tell new teachers is build relationships first build relationships with your students first and i know it's going to be a little more difficult this year because they're starting the year remote but i will tell you the first few days of school i don't even worry about content worry about building relationships because the time you spend building those relationships will pay multiple dividends uh later on in the year i tell the teachers that the kids don't care how much you know they don't care how many degrees you have they care about how you make them feel and that's what matters to them and if they feel that you care about them then they are willing to learn everything that you want them to learn the second piece of advice i gave our new teachers was to ask for help if you need it our district offers a lot of help you have plenty of colleagues you have principals you have a direct supervisor my door is always open for our staff and don't be afraid to ask for help because their success makes us all successful and finally uh the simplest but most important piece of advice i give all new teachers is love the children love them as if they were your own be the teacher who you know when when you were a kid if you remember the night before school starts and you have a little anxiety and you have butterflies in your stomach and you were worried about maybe am i going to get the mean teacher this year or is my teacher going to be nice at least that's i was every year the night before school started but be the teacher whose kid the kids go home after school and tell their parents how amazing their new teacher is they tell their parents and family how excited they are to spend the year with this teacher be that person and and that was my advice to new teachers and i want to just again officially welcome them all they have another day of training tomorrow and i'll be popping in to say hello to them again finally at our not not finally in addition to at our last town hall meeting uh there were some questions that came up that we didn't get a chance to answer that night a lot of those answers have been updated on our faq our frequently asked questions on our website so any parents who have questions about our planned reopening can look at that document first they have most of the answers but if you have a question please your best resource is first the classroom teacher who you won't know who that is yet but your building principle if you send an email or call your building principal they will respond and they will get back to you with any questions that you may have before i answer the parent comments for tonight i want to i want to address something that that's been bothering me a little bit i'm the superintendent and i'm hired to run the day-to-day operations of the district okay so i want everybody to know that the decision to delay the reopening in schools was absolutely my call but if anyone thinks that a decision of that magnitude that i wouldn't ask for the support of the board then they must not understand how difficult the decision it is so while the board did not really need to vote on the reopening of schools i asked for that but please note it was my decision and it will be my decision to open up again on october 12th the board's input matters though the board are elected officials who represent the community and as such their opinion is valued second on the decision to ask teachers to teach from their classrooms during the remote environment that is my decision board members did not sway me it was absolutely my decision it's what i feel is best i feel that it is the next step in our evolution to a full reopening why teachers in the classroom well first and foremost it's i think it's much easier when a teacher's in their classroom they have all their supplies i think it's better for our children to see the teacher in their classrooms um now that we're doing a period bell by bell schedule teachers really need to be on point there are there are i don't care what anybody says there are more distractions at home than there are in the classroom and as for this notion that well if it's not safe for kids it's not safe for teachers there's much less people in the buildings you're not going to be having personal contact with people personal contact is defined by the cdc as being within six feet of another person for more than 10 minutes that will happen when we have children in the class but that's not going to happen with teachers uh teaching from their classroom and finally if people haven't figured it out yet i am one of the most reasonable and understanding people that's in a leadership position of a school district if there are plenty of our teachers who have extenuating circumstances that what might not allow them to teach from their classroom at this time we're going to help them we're going to provide accommodations to those teachers but i will tell you there are a lot of teachers who reached out to me telling me please we want to teach from our classrooms and and the majority of administrators that gave me feedback also wanted that so i wanted to clear that up i'm hired for this job and i'm expected to make difficult decisions i've made more difficult decisions this summer that have caused me stress and anxiety that i had in seven years as a superintendent but that's what i signed up for but i will make no apologies for asking this board for their advice on what to do then ultimately making my own decision so i just wanted to clarify that i respect this board i respect everyone's opinion and people fall on all different sides of the of the spectrum on these reopening issues uh so you know we're making decisions where not everyone's going to be happy but we're we're i guess airing on the side of caution so let me just get back to the parent comments um mrs kruse could you address the uh issue that max rubin brought up about the printing and school supplies i believe the answer to the the printing is we're going to have most of our students utilizing the google classroom instead of printing out documents correct the vast majority of our lessons particularly when we're fully remote but also even when we come back in person we are going to be maximizing and leveraging google classroom the ability to submit assignments and complete work using google docs google sheets and google forms so every teacher has a google classroom and their students will submit the work through that classroom so there will be rarely if any need to print out uh work um i want to thank that mrs delgado who called them that was some powerful words and what struck me with what she said was um you know people talk about the numbers and and numbers don't mean anything to anybody until it touches you personally and that just hit me you know as a father of four um you know you're making decisions based on numbers and things and people say well i want my kids in school what happens if it's your child that gets infected and it turns out to be serious um it's something that weighs on my mind heavily and i thought she said it very eloquently um mrs kuznets could you address the the pre-k well first of all i know you've done it a million times already but could you just address very briefly the difference in the virtual learning that will take place in september versus what we did last spring and then if you could address the specific questions in regard to the pre-k in kindergarten in the spring everybody was learning what to do and we learned a lot of valuable lessons since that time what will be very different is that we will be following a period by period schedule where teachers will have a google classroom for every content the google classroom will be where they submit their work where they see the work that they need to be doing but students will not have to just go to google classroom and figure it out for themselves their teachers period by period will be online with them teaching new material presenting lessons available to answer and ask questions showing them what to do conducting face-to-face via the computer classes for the duration of the periods as a student schedule evolves so there will be full day access to teachers via the screen with side chats available so the teachers can be teaching like they would be in person unfortunately it will just be through a screen but that contact is going to be much more increased than it was in terms of preschool preschool is recommended to be limited to one hour of online time at the same time there is a period schedule for our preschool students students who receive any form of special education or related services will continue to receive those also via the chromebook via the computer and through tele services um for related services so this is going to be a much more online full-time face-to-face instructional process even starting fully remote thank you mrs kusalevich and chloe popowicz asked about when the students would be receiving their schedules i believe that's going to be in the parent portal on friday september 4th is that that is the goal yes by friday september 4th we hope to have our schedules and assignments completed um as you know with this change to fully remote as well as um changing parent choices we have had to be revising and rebuilding master schedules at all grade spans um but the goal is to have it posted on the parent portal prior to the start of school by that weekend what that means for all of our parents who might be uh tuning in uh you'll get an email through blackboard that says the parent portal is open when you log into that parent portal um a goal of mine from a year ago was to get rid of all those papers that you had to sign off of on on the first day of school so all of the things that you normally sign off all the emergency forms the publicity request forms things like that you're going to log into the parent portal and you'll be prompted to read the student code of conduct and and sign that you've seen it and you'll be able to do all those forms and then you won't be able to access your child's schedule until you've acknowledged reading and signing those forms so that was a goal i set last year uh hopefully that's coming to fruition and the target date is next friday uh september 4th and chloe popovich also asked about the sats chloe the short answer is if we are in person in school we will uh do everything that we can to host the sats the issue with the september test was we didn't have enough uh proctors that that signed up to uh to to give the test and we were also concerned about being one of the only test sites that were open we were concerned about people coming from all over and other states and loading up our building i would be more comfortable hosting the sats when when when we're fully reopened so that's the short answer uh and that concludes my comments uh tonight ms danny i'm not sure if i got all the questions but if there's anything else um you can remind me thank you thank you dr armatosi um the next order of business will be new business does anyone mr passante you have some new business yeah i just have one thing um and just not to be hypocrite my of myself in my opinion because obviously dr roberto said it was his ultimate decision however i've been a teacher back i think this board october 1st should go back to uh in person um to via camera uh however through september we need to find a place to at least hold our our distance or put up um the petition whatever we need to do uh to get that proper and still have the public uh do virtual so i'm making a motion to october first go back to in-person camera about a second then um discussion madam chair um i always thought that um during new business wasn't it that you couldn't bring up anything to make a motion on oh we could hold it to the next meeting then but that that would be my motion for the next meeting or to put it on the agenda for at least october 1st we'll give it a meeting to everybody decide i have no problem with it but i would like to do october yes okay so put that on next the agenda so people could um think about it because again uh we're not supposed to be doing any dr as i understand during the new business so if you could just put that and then we'll we'll do the vote and discussion yes mr abhijava didn't we talk about i think it was last meter two minutes ago that we would do in september and we would go back to the gym in high school i mean in high school and we would have we would have everybody spaced out there yeah but we never made a there was never a motion so i want to make an emotion and a fish madam chair can i speak yes miss batman i'm ready to go back in september if we have our staff going into the buildings we should be back in the in the auditorium however um i'm not comfortable with the petitions and not wearing masks we have to be six feet apart um those petitions do nothing because people lean behind them and talk uh it it's unhealthy firsthand i saw what they are and to me the germ can go around them so um i i would like to go back so gary if you would make if you change your motion to september i'm willing to go yes i think the only reason why i'm saying well the only reason i'm saying october is because we need to figure out what's going to work and where it's going to work and how we're going to do it i don't want to stress our superintendent i don't want to stress our staff to where they got to put petitions in because obviously do you know they don't work um i'm i'm living it you know i'm living in it also so i want to make sure we're doing it proper so i'm giving you know i'd like to give them the month when they're back in and let them figure something out before we you know we go forward but i would go back tomorrow i have no problem with it my thing is um i i want to give people time to think i'm good with going back but there has to be logistics and right now i want um dr arbitoza to worry about those you know and so the next meeting i mean i will definitely vote yes for it um but i want you know um dr robert tozie to focus in on right now because there will be staff in the building and he has those concerns and i don't want him to worry about you know plexiglas or ppe for us right at this moment so let's put that on you know good suggestion uh mr picenti put that on the next meeting and we'll vote on that madam president yes uh yes yeah um yeah i'm also very yeah if he behaves himself uh i'm very much for for going in person um uh i'll let the administration figure out obviously that one of the obvious choices the uh the uh and chs because of the amount of space we can we can spread out to um but just on a point of procedure and council can weigh in on this um you're correct uh madam president about the procedure uh however if there's an issue that comes up you could suspend you you have to take a vote it has to be two-thirds vote uh to suspend the rules and you could go on whatever the issue whether it's this or something else so usually uh and i agree especially of a matter that you want to consider not to rush it but if there is another matter that a board member wants to bring up that you can always go that route as well that that's just an fyi from my point and council can weigh in and and tell us what the real procedure is thank you okay um one second i assume is basford miss gutierrez do you want to weigh in because danny did have his hand up so it would be you then danny then miss bassford oh let's wait and listen to the doctor robert tosie and his password and we'll see what they have to say and then i can weigh in okay dr robert chosey thanks miss danny i just want the board to know that the administration is in support of returning to in-person meetings um the only caveat i guess is that we are still under the executive order about 25 or less in a room so we would definitely have to do it at the uh the high school auditorium not a problem social distancing there but i just want to make sure if it's okay we could ask mr mountain to chime in will we be able to live stream from the auditorium for public comment because if we i'm just trying to think of the logistics of that and as long as that's figured out i don't think there's any issue with returning as soon as possible to in person ms basford and then mr mountain yes i do believe in march we suspended the regular order of business so we are still on that suspension we have to you know uh move make a motion to go back so us having remote meetings quasi remote and in-person meetings is still in effect we could do whatever we want our regular suspension hours we suspended the regular rules for our meeting attendance and where we were having them if i if i'm not correct i think we did that that was in march or april mr uh mr mountain do you want to answer and then mr smith short answer is yes we can definitely allow public comment via zoom or or perhaps there's another mechanism but but we'll certainly make it work okay and i know that i had talked to you about that mr mountain okay mr smith yes just to uh dr robitaza you just made a statement that you see no reason why we can't go back to to remote i just presume that any board member who feels they have a compromised health and do not agree with that that there would be a avenue for a board member to participate remotely mr smith i'm i'm a guest at your board meetings although i guess i'm i'm technically a board member so we would do um what whatever the board wants to do in regards to the meetings we will do i just wanted to stress that the administration is in support of returning to in-person meetings and we would make an accommodation for any board member that needed uh that needed any you know he needed any kind of accommodation yeah that was my only clarification sure so um dr ortozi i don't want to put you know since it again it is out of order i mean obviously mr daily what you said um just so that if anybody wants to reach out to you to make this i don't want to put any more on your plate right now because i know you didn't even have a summer um you know so i i know that i know because i didn't have a summer um well it was a summer but not really um so you know again put that on um people can process think about what if anybody needs an accommodation or anything and um and then you know um good suggestion mr pasanti ms danny i just want to be clear i want to clarify we're going to put a resolution on the agenda next meeting to return to meetings in october yes anybody have an issue anybody um any issue question comment concern with that resolution if you do you can talk to dr robert tosi and then he'll get back to us he's always pretty good with everything discussing so i'll leave that up to you to you know um and derelice um to draft up that resolution and then put it out to all of us to see prior to the meeting so if any board member has an issue with it or anything um they can process and then we can you know um do it at that time okay good yes ms gutierrez just just a quick comment not a legal comment but i was just at a board meeting recently with another client where the board members the administration and i were there in person in the cafeteria uh separated more than six feet seated more than six feet apart wearing masks and everybody had a laptop in front of them and was in a zoom meeting and so the public was also in the zoom meeting um so the public got to see the board members the board members got to see the public the public was able to participate um and as long as everyone kept their volume down on their laptop it worked pretty well okay um miss beltram i had a separate um new business so i can wait okay i'll just echo what the attorney said i've seen the exact same mechanism in other districts okay um i just want to bring up um a new business i did actually email it's um i'm it's not new business it's sort of old business and i did email all of the board members um and so i just wanted to say that the professional service committees can resume um and so uh there is the auditor on the auditor uh ms beltram was the chair and also on that was um mr canova and mr abhidrabo for the architect mr abedraba was the chair mr kenova and miss beltram were on that committee for healthcare professional services on that committee mr um canova was the chair um mr vicente mr daily uh mr casper were on health care um mr smith you're not i can have you added to um the committees because this was prior to you arriving i know i did put you on legal with us and in legal the professional legal committee ms basford was on the chair mr daley was on that committee of legal and myself was on legal and also with uh mr jim smith okay so those um professional committees can resume i did send everybody the email but just sort of wanted to make the announcement um and just the other thing i had was also to draft a resolution then um to me in i guess the committee structure in person because there's a lot of like confusion and everything so to go back to meeting in person in the subcommittees a resolution for the subcommittees for next um would that be done next meeting also yes no yes that's what i'm saying next meeting i didn't mean this meeting i meant to put that a resolution miss gutierrez a resolution for um the subcommittees to reconvene in person as well okay no problem i have a question about that um can we do that both as well with the zoom platform because some of my colleagues travel um they have odd hours on working hours so if we can make that accommodation for some of the members to appear in a zoom in a committee meeting or in person would be very helpful to everybody that has very odd working conditions and very were hard working condition hours so i know it was helpful to me because um i took my lunch sometimes at 10 o'clock in the morning when we had a meeting and i worked it around my work schedule and it really helped me out to be able to participate more now than i've ever have in the past so we can kind of do that quasi form i would appreciate that i'll probably make the committee meetings but i'm sure other people on this board would like to think about that as well if they're not home or if they're away on a a small vacation they can access it from one of their whole other homes i think that would be a way to go because like jim said we have to give everybody accommodation so that would be a thought i i have one i only have one issue with my job i i can't i can't do a committee meeting while i'm at work you know those are little issues that i have i don't have a problem zoom in but the meetings i appreciate if they could be after four o'clock um doing it in the middle of the day unfortunately you know it's hard for me well um then i think you have to make the same accommodations for the board meeting the same thing because it's only fair because there's some you know i mean sometimes if i have to get up early and i'm going in in school person you know teaching kids so sometimes running late i mean i want to have the option if i'm you know if i'm out it's going to be a long night to do a zoom remote i mean it's only fair uh lucy there's a lot of boards uh up and down the state of new jersey from uh cape may county up to sussex that are offering uh a dual accommodation both in public and via whatever platform you guys choose to it to be first because of health issues there are a lot of board members that are not comfortable coming back because they have underlying health issues in their own home or they they themselves have those issues so i think we're gonna have to adjust to our new normal uh and make it optional i i will try to make as many in-person meetings as i can but if uh if we have a special meeting like a um special whatever meeting really quick at like 12 o'clock in the afternoon i can participate if i'm on a zoom because i can do it right on my phone and go into a quiet area and pick up the call so i really appreciate that if we could figure that out yeah i know that's what i'm saying but that's that's what i mean i just i think that you know um it has to be across the board even you know because again um there's a lot of things that are not normal about this and so people have waited you know what i mean so again um if we draft the resolution then both resolutions have to include something of you know not just this an accommodate but a combination of you know again if the person can't make it so what i think we need to do is just take a look at the policy because that's all we have to do is just take a look at how the policy is written to allow for uh virtual meetings um because the issue for the virtual meeting is for the public board meeting where the public gets to see you it has that has nothing to do with the committee meetings because the committee meetings you can structure them however you want to do that because it's not a quorum it's not something it's not some it's not a meeting where you're going to take any action it's really just a meeting it's a committee meeting so you could do it on the phone you could do it in person you could do it some people in person some people on the however it makes sense for that particular committee um the the big issue is just how you handle your public board meetings and while we're still under an emergency uh health emergency then you still have the ability to do them virtually in person some people coming in virtually depending on their particular needs so we'll make sure that we look at the policy and work that in so that it it's clear that everybody has that option yes right yes thumbs up okay okay any uh miss beltram you had new business something that was different uh yes i did um so i had um something to bring to the board detention i'm not sure if everyone has seen in the news um about the unreported child abuse uh claims so we're down 51 um it might have increased that latest number was from july um and i was wondering uh through you men and presented to doctors josie if we've thought about bringing in um the passaic county uh critical response unit or something like that to speak to teachers about how to identify um abuse over a live stream so that perhaps we could um help some of our children who might be falling into a lost group that would normally have been reported if they were in in person school but now since their virtual um might go unreported very good very good point miss beltran so ev every year we're required to review with our staff the child abuse neglect policy that the board has in reporting procedures but it's a good point you bring up the the the signs that you look for in person may be different than what you uh see online so if there are some resources out there that uh we're not aware of we can incorporate that so all and next week our teachers will be trained in child abuse and neglect so we can add some of that information to that um so that's a very good suggestion thank you thanks any other board members have new business miss danny i do yeah as as i um remarked during my uh report on the finance committee minutes the we all know the state has dealt this worst hand possible and how to handle our issues i i would strongly uh and the procedure as has been otherwise sweet and that dr roberto tells he could correct me if i'm wrong here um and and mike you see that is they they're trending to you can only revise your long-term facilities plan once a year and we can't spend any money out of our capital reserve unless it's in the long-term disabilities committee and the nomenclature of long-term facilities plan is kind of a ridiculous uh wording if you for a lack of a better description it's merely something that the board uh wants to spend the money now all the money in our capital reserve is all our local money and uh i don't mind amending because it says projects come up might have a project that comes up in a month that we need to do that's been brought to our attention and uh we shouldn't be getting dinged because it comes up and we have the money available or we got a great price on on some project we all want to do um in business you have to be fluid and this this crap about and i use that word to emphasize the issue here about we can only do it once a year before the budget is just that it's ridiculous uh now we're told in the in this chaotic thing we gotta strictly hold to these rules otherwise you can't do this so we want to spend the 588 000 on on a project that we all want to do but no you can't because you can and that that is total crap and uh whether we have to do a resolution at another time that's fine but i think we need to send a letter to the commissioner of education with copies both to the governor and our three legislative uh representatives saying that we strongly object to this so the department of education needs to do whatever they need to do to let us spend this money uh this this is our monies is taxpayer money we are elected to do the public's work for the citizens and students of the city of clifton and to just play with our budget when they screw us on money left and right is horrendous so um i i would like to see that if we have to put in a resolution you want to do it at the next board meeting that's fine with me but uh i'm and you everybody knows me how i am money and and how our budget works so uh um i think this is something we can all get behind and we need to continue press these points otherwise we're going to continually get screwed by the state who know nothing and care nothing about how our district runs than our students mr danny if i can just follow up on that with mr daley and uh thing and that's actually so if it's in order i'd like to have that resolution put on for our next boy okay yes mr abu abedrabo uh we're regarding also past conversation which will also include this conversation i did reach out to our legislators last week um when dr supernova sent me over the follow-up letter which they did receive the mailed one uh superintendent robert saucy as well i sent i sent an email last week was the dnc so they a lot of them were down there but i followed up with two of their chief of staff out of three and they're collecting dates uh to get to us so we can meet so once i have those dates i'll follow up tomorrow um i'll try to follow up tomorrow if not over the weekend um to see what those dates are and i'll get back to the legislative committee about that madam chair yes um it may be to our interest to for the next delegates assembly to write a resolution from clifton for have school boards to go and advocate to change that rule about the long-range facility plan that may be an option for us but we'll have to sit with and and chat about it but that's an option that we have as a board to get support get support from the rest of the school districts in the state if you put a resolution in front of the new jersey school boys association to advocate for change on that on that rule about being able to only address an emergency funding transfer once a year so i think maybe we should send that to the pledge committee and maybe we can come up with some kind of resolution and advocate that way um that would help us yeah judy i'm on board with that um it's just uh again it's our money uh these and we shouldn't be getting dinged in in cusack or anything else for for following procedures and doing the right thing for our students in our district so that that's the underlying point here and it's and more importantly it's our taxpayers money it's not state money so and there it's like a real overreach so um whatever you need from my end i'll be happy to draft whatever it needs to be dear after at least to get the ball rolling and we'll go from there okay my name is i was just going to say my my office can draft this letter for dr josie's review and the finances please thank you misters yeah eric did a really nice job uh with helping draft the last one yeah we'll we'll get on it it's ridiculous that they cut us 5.3 million dollars we're expecting and don't let us use or they're not flexible in allowing us to use our our other our other monies it doesn't make sense dr robert tells you how about giving the charter schools extra money just recently okay so let's let's let's go there yeah yeah that's a whole other issue is there any other new business so see next order of business is executive session um do we have any executive session second by mr casper all in favor aye aye aye aye opposed beating adjourned good night everyone good night everybody

big rivalry night this is great great football north coming off a big win as coach john said off of number five in 3a gibson southern last week and east east looked looked solid last week but lost a close one to a strong team at home against introducing the north starters now certainly different feel tonight coach there's 250 fans per side and usually there are 8 000 plus in the stadium for a northeast game so absolutely i'm glad we're able to play a ball but certainly a different feel so far this evening yeah yeah a little bit unfortunate obviously people trying to stay healthy and we know we got a lot of people streaming so that'll be fun do appreciate the opportunity provided by our sponsors to be able to stream the game to you at home tonight for the ball game [Music] john there's no doubt that blake huffman is going to be the primary ball carrier for the for the dogs tonight how do you how do you anticipate the o's on the other side stacking up against him do you think they'll load the box and give up the pass and try to stop blake what are your thoughts yeah you know this this huffman kid's a great player um you know watching the highlights a few times uh i think the olympians have a good chance to stack up the middle but they had a really hard time on the edge you know i thought they were they were pretty stout up the middle against whiteland but most of the yards that they gave up were on the outside you know kind of over the tackle to the tight end and i think that's where they got a you know they're they're outside linebackers and their corners got to have a great night they got to come up and play stout defense i think if i if i'm the olympians on the other hand i'd come out there was a few things north did on defense they certainly shut the kid from gibson southern down deep he didn't pass the ball much but that team that gibson southern team dropped about 10 balls inside the eight to you know seven to eight yard range i think the olympians if they come out and mix up the offense they actually have it you know an opportunity here they can run it a little bit they can pass a little bit i don't know if they'll do that but i think there was an opportunity last week against north that was lost because there were so many drop balls by gibson southern so you know i think the olympians have a chance here uh and can come out and do some some real good damage certainly coach gaddis and his staff have reviewed the film and noticed those underneath routes were open against the dogs last week let's see if they can capitalize on that east however last week they uh they spread the ball out a little bit more than than the primary running back uh villarreal and mcdonald both both split carries uh several i noticed several cramps last week from the olympians which is pretty typical for early season football hopefully they can this this week of course has been warmer than last coach so hopefully the kids have uh take taking heed to the advice of the athletic trainers and sports medicine doctors and hydrated a great deal this week yeah we we start telling these kids when they're eight nine ten years old to drink more fluids and uh and there's not you can't you can't get enough water in the system this time of year it's really hard to stay hydrated and we hope everybody stays healthy tonight but we did see some of that last week we saw a little bit less of it from north certainly in the east game we saw quite a bit of it so both sides both whiteland and east had some dehydration issues so hopefully that goes away tonight we'll have a great game a big rivalry game tonight hey the olympians oh the bulldogs a big one who do you think's gonna win tonight keith no doubt hey big rivalry game tonight and the olympians owe the bulldogs a big one who do you think's gonna win tonight keith no doubt i think north they need to get the ball down there as far as they can last week they played a field position game didn't do didn't do as well uh north kicks it a long way so they we're hoping that they'll keep that up show us how to kick the ball um i think they they probably have the advantage of the kicking game there we go keegan cass dead are deep for the dogs and blake huffman here we go week two across town confrontation east versus north thanks for joining us online and kick us away up to huffman he's going to pick it up and come down to the near side 25 to the about the 30-yard line where he's brought down really good coverage so coach let's let's let's both chime in here who do you like tonight well coach i'll tell you columbus north looked awfully strong last week it's hard to ignore that i think it's going to be a game up front whoever establishes the line of scrimmage we'll win the game i think it'll be close they always are but i think the advantage lies right now with the boys in blue okay home field then you're giving you give a couple points a little couple feel a couple hundred feet all right all right twins to the field formation hammond's in the gun huffing directly behind tight end right give us the huffman inside zone he's gonna dive ahead for about four yards yeah he rolls for four i tell you it for me it comes down to what what the olympians are going to do on offense the first or second series if they can go out and score on the first series mix up their offense a little bit and not just drive it straight at them do some you know unique things that they maybe maybe put some wrinkles into it and they can get out to a quick start i think the olympians have a great chance to win this ball game it'd be a huge win for them coming off of last week's disappointment he gave us to up and again he's got one man to beat he's coming down the sideline across the 45 50 steps out of bounds for about a 15-yard gain by play huffman ball in the 49-yard line of the o's so if you're listening to the stream you and i are on a draw here so you're you're going blue tonight and i'm going orange yeah you got it you got to keep it balanced of course paul's on the right hash lifts right on the 50-yard line two backs now huffman in motion out to the field side this time [Music] it looks like the right side of the line that's too bad that's a good play a couple nice blocks on the outside there by the wide outs holding is the call a repeat first down and that'll be about a first and 18 here usually when you see a player spring the edge like that there's a reason for that huffman coming off a 215 yard performance last week i'm not sure he'll replicate that here tonight but i'll tell you the hammonds kid was right there with him i think he was in the high hundreds 142 yards for hammers last week they gave us to huffman up the middle he's going to charge carrying o's with him runs ahead for about a gain of nine yards that'll bring up second and nine you see how strong he is there and you'll see something here i think is the key to the game for north they've watched the film they they watched the olympians last week they know that the pace of play is is a factor they can win the pace to play game potentially um the olympians well i think they're good athletes they they were having a hard time getting to the ball last week so i think you'll see north run very quick pace today back to huffman he comes boundary side tackle good time brought down quickly by devin cox the 511 senior for the o's yeah a gain of about two yards that'll bring up third and six yeah that's the kind of play that's going to make a difference his team will get pumped up around that that's a great play a few uh fans in blue asking for a horsepower call there it was not he just grabbed him by the shoulder pads and made a strong play to back one here we go third and six trips with the tight end fake as to huffman rolling out sprint and that ball is going to go over the head of cass deader incomplete bring up fourth down yeah cass that are kids a great player i like to play their coach uh just a little bit high castle's got his hands up in the air he's saying throw it lower personnel substitution now for north looks like they're gonna bring their punt team on the field looks like they're going to try to establish a field position here that's it that in my opinion code that's the win for the olympians they that's a that's a good a good stop that's a big stop indeed here they come balls away rugby style you can go out at the 20.

no flag paul's going to roll out of bounds 21 21 yard line yeah you got some fans down here that want to be on the broadcast they're they're making an effort coach certainly trying to help the officials i'm not sure the officials can hear them but they're going to be yelling all night that's fantastic columbus east olympians take the field of all rests directly on the 20-yard line left hash they come in with a pro formation tight end right two receivers they give this to mcdonald come right out he's gonna bounce it back out for about a game of two before he is stopped by looks like adam shorts for the dogs malachi park's the captain for the for the o's plenty of experience for oh for columbus east oh [Applause] we've seen from the scrimmage and then last week uh mr king number six for north is is a fantastic safety and he made a great play there that ball i think if it come out a little bit earlier there was a little bit of an opening to the looked like the tight end coming coming on the out um but you know he gave it another step and and uh mr king's just going to catch up with that one eventually great play that pass attempt his xander rottsman number 42 the senior for east park's going to spread out again this time two receivers in the pattern and that's a completed pass good enough for the first down flag somewhere there is a flag back on this side going back looks like a hold again yeah coach is pointing backwards coach bless helping the official on the uh on the side over here to make sure he just sees it his way perhaps yeah ineligible man looks like you gotta wait guys that is the call ineligible lineman down the field you can't run down there just yet but you know it's it's hard you know you're you're playing great football you're hustling around i feel bad for kids like that they're just trying to make plays and when they're it's a long long play like that quarterback's got the ball for a long time it's really hard to stay back there was a long play indeed week two easy mistake to make trips to the right this time for columbus east ball rests on the 17-yard line third and mcdonald up the middle he gains yardage about the 24.

yeah great great defense by north there great defense savion coming in the game your boy savion banks yeah him and dawson are both in there right now i love the heavies 50 and 51. former clifton cougar savion banks those guys are big butt formation now for ease here he goes oh dawson gonna give it oh punch away he gets banged up over the head of cast editor he's gonna try to gather it still rolling picks it up at the 20. good block he's got room on the edge 35 out of bounds at the 40. yeah i tell you i tell you i tell you that the hangar kid number nine you know he goes down and he runs with that play and he gets his head on the right side of the shoulder pads there instead of blocking to the back he he goes ahead and he gets the block right in the front of the chest and springs that one right that's just a great play that's not just a great run by cass setter that's a great block it's one of those box coats as you know everybody in the stadium is watching that single block and if he doesn't do it correctly it'll instantly draw a flag he did a great job that's the 511 185 junior hager yeah nice nice play dogs with the ball now in the 37 yard line first and ten trips with the tight end to the field gave us to huffman this time he goes nowhere back to the line of scrimmage host of o is in on the tackle wow that's just head to head right there great play no huddle for columbus north back up to the line of scrimmage same formation trips to the field trips to the left with tight end single back will come back looks like that was a no play call trying to get five more yards there just trying to get some free yards hammond's cause another one dogs reset different looks give this to huffman again same play same result he's stuffed at the line of scrimmage by seeing like 25 olympians on that tackle that previous play where they try to draw them offside last week that was a big factor in their first drive they got the gibson southern team to jump twice and got it off the 2-yard line out to the 12 before uh huffman broke it for 88 yards it was a big deal so those of you that think that's kind of a wasted play it's not it matters a lot cam shrum the senior for east a big stop on that play third down hammond he says they have it he says they have it and the officials agree yeah the olympians have it outstanding i'd say it looked like him looks like hammond's had a quick shot of patel down the sideline and he he tucked it and ran with it instead [Music] that's a big shift i'm not sure that was a call draw coach i think simon was looking down and he kept a little early and kept it yep you got the heavy set in the back now you got villarreal in there with mcdonald looks like that's that's outstanding that's their full set i think to the left here to give us the billy reel he's gonna cut back and he's good for about four yards a host of dogs on the tackle they're playing they're playing tough out there coach no doubt about it you know the villain real kid his his right thigh looks like it's bigger than both of my thighs he's got big he's got big big legs he's got he's got some churn in him he can run through you for sure twin's the right this time single back mcdonald he has the he takes the give and he stopped for a loss two or three dogs in on that tackle looks like the uh osterman was the lead tackler in that play 52 for the dogs now here comes villarreal again [Music] third and five for the o's gave it to mcdonald again he's charging ahead he's got some room looks like that's going to be good for him first down down to the 31-yard line [Music] steady ball control from east high school here so far controlling the line of scrimmage controlling the clock playing their game it [Music] back give was to bergman the 6-2 senior but there's a flag on the far side of the field yeah no legal shift illegal shift probably was not set before he went in motion is my guess montgomery and likens check in for the dogs bring up first and fifteen east ball in the 37-yard line 609 remains in the first quarter no score twins to the left faked mcdonald parks are going to keep it this time yep and he moves ahead for about five yards brings up the second nine we talk a lot about the north runners the parks kid had some nice plays last week um he had a big play that got called back unfortunately on a penalty but um he can he can really get out there you let him in the open field he's going to run on you tough player same formation for east ball in the right hatch second and ten give us to mcdonald this time he's gonna get inside zone back he's got room he's gonna score in untucked great play great run touchdown east great vision he saw the hole that was beautiful great cutback [Music] it's a 30-yard scamper for mr mcdonald and the east olympians great blocking up front mark uh mark had no trouble at all i i like what the olympia the first the first set of downs might not you might not think it mattered much because they only got a you know i think they may be gained 20 yards the olympians and then they come back and score on that drive i think it has a lot to do with the look they showed at the beginning of the game they came out and looked like they were willing to throw the football they came out tripped a couple of times i think that that subtle little wrinkle opens up the defense enough so that you can run the football and we saw right there they just ran it a bunch of times and ran it straight down the field p.a.t by hedrick is good hey big rivalry game tonight hey the olympians owe the bulldogs a big one who do you think's going tonight keith no doubt i think north all the way he's always tough but i think norse got this one nobody ever gives the cheerleaders any credit go girls what's uh j.j thinking what's he saying i think it's the bulldogs all the way but look here's he is you can ask him yourself you know my dogs are ready all right doing special thanks to ovation technology for their support of tonight's ball game first financial bank as well is that the rule off mortgage commercial there coach look like jj montgomery's doing a cameo there saw that still still an amateur though hope he's not getting paid picking no pay for that edrick kicks it off the ball is received by castetter at the 17-yard line he goes right up the middle and he is brought down at about the 35.

right in the center of the field 525 remains in the first quarter visitors on the board first 7-0 so what do you think coach how are they going to come out and respond to that they're going to be okay well i don't think anybody in blue is worried so far i mean no i don't think this is a game that you you can really not plan on anything to be set in stone uh i think the blue gonna do fine two by two formation here for the dogs huffman in the pistol formation hammond's with the snap he's gonna give to huffman up the middle he goes wow big tackle good tackle they got the number there from east looks like it may have been we're 32. yeah devin cox excuse me that's a 511 senior big tackle there on huffman he's not an easy one to bring down trips to the right this time ball in the middle of the field second and five for the dogs balls to hoffman again looks like he tripped up he tripped on the 40.

turf monster got him again coach yeah we always remind our audience those lines are not raised they are indeed still flat they are flat yeah they're flat flat last week they're flat this week just painted on brings up third down and three to go ballrest on the 42 yard line 432 remains in the first quarter as the clock runs trips with a tight end watch watch cash center oh back to huffman he's dancing looking for a place to go and he is stopped short [Applause] and i bring out fourth and two looks like the punt team for north is headed back on the field yeah fuel position game here [Applause] definitely a strong confident boost to the olympians to two stops of that seemingly potent columbus north offense well we knew coming into this game that the olympians defense was stout not only are they tough they're aggressive um they yeah i know they they did not uh that ball hit somebody in the helmet coach yeah that ball might be alive it hit a north helmet it looked like it hit a blue helmet coach it's a long ways away but there was only blue helmets around it so nonetheless the ball is rolled all the way down to the good end good advantage for north there yeah they got field position all the way to the nine that's fantastic if you're a north fans these takes the field again ball on their own ten yard line first and ten two back set snap give it to bill reel and he goes for about three yards bring up second and seven a lot of big hits in this game so far coach you can see the level of intensity it matters a lot to these kids to win this football game this is an important deal these guys have been playing as friends and teammates and you know little league together since they were i don't know seven or eight years old yeah this time the ball goes to mcdonald now he gets somehow another and still moving down to the 33 yard line coach i don't know what happened there but there was one guy that got out of there and he's number 24 popped out of a hole in the ground actually he was completely buried and just popped up i don't know how he made it through that um i will tell you this uh that was a great play mostly a save by mcdonald and a little bit by parks on the snap there that that's the second snap we've seen that's been low they had a problem with that last week i think it ends up hurting them if they don't get it fixed he's good he's going to he's going to fake the jet sweep and throw him in the flat yep wow ball is complete down the sideline all the way down the side huge pancake in the middle of the field east is going to score wow that's going to go so number 22 no flowers for the olympians trey neal no one's talking about it right now because that guy just ran i don't even know who scored for him but let me tell you something trey neal that was that i tell my young guys this every day in practice we're coaching little guys all the time that the wide out's got a block and trey neal just took his guy and buried him in the middle of the 35-yard line unbelievable block by trey neal great run after play by parks to bergman bergman springs down the field 65 yards for another olympian score hedrick with the kick up and splits the uprights again just like that scores 14-0 east if you grew up in columbus you grew up with ovation audio video the ovation technology group is much more the local leader in local it solutions 25 years of keeping companies connected and running efficiently networks and managed services phone systems and temperature control data security and hd thermal imaging grow smart with ovation technology group at ovationtg.com ovationtg.com a proud sponsor of columbus high school sports no doubt about it columbus east is bringing it here at max anders field tonight two big two big plays on that drive coach and that that field that had 90 yards ahead of the o's was gone in three plays yeah that's a that can leave it dent 90 yard drives leave it down hedrick will kick the ball off again this ball is a little bit deeper over the head of huffman yeah that's going to roll in the end zone that's fortunate for columbus north right there that that ball went in the end zone looked like columbus north moved up a little bit because headers kicked a couple short and that one just flew over blake's head yeah yep that's what we talked about i mean a little bit of kicking game kicking game makes a big difference when you're starting on the 45 and you're starting on 20.

that's a big deal i mean the defense the olympians defense is way better off with columbus north on the 20 than on the 45-yard line special thanks to joe lee rentals and jolie development for their generous sponsorship of tonight's event two by two formation here for the dogs similar formation that we've seen before hammonds now lone he's gonna run a draw and he's going to go absolutely nowhere still no whistle now there's a whistle we got three yards out of the deal tough kid i watched this hammond's kid play all all night i thought he had a fantastic game last week we talked about the david and goliath thing going on him and this kid from the purdue commit from georgia yeah what is it uh gibson's in southern i want to say georgia tech all the time um he played a tough he played a tough game that night and he and he came out on top there against a really good quarterback he gave us to huffman here on the inside zone he scampers ahead for about five yards that'll bring up third and three i'll tell you coach the the olympians they are those safeties are coming downhill hard and they are filling quickly as are the linebackers really plugging things up for columbus north quick snap here the ball is to huffman he is rumbling that's going to be close it's right at the 30.

they got it right at the 30. he got that one and the official on the far sideline is waving moving the sticks up so that'll be a columbus north first down yeah great great run [Music] first down 10 to go trips to the left trips to the field side huffman the lone back hammers the quarterback in the gun drops back to pass he looks he's gonna run scampering across 35 across the 40 and a big shot close to out of bounds it's a big shot by uh grace bergman the same kid they just scored the touchdown for east wait do we call him mr bergman now i i would call him whatever he asked me to call him coach that kid can play you could hear you can hear what that kind of hit you can hear in the car lot yeah the fans and the fans in blue thought he was out of bounds i'm not so sure that was a that was a that was a big hit 2x2 formation here first down for the dogs nonetheless they gave this to huffman he is wrapped up by the ankle there by 59 chase harrison for the uh for the o's and uh and then his buddies jumped on and cleaned him up second and twelve [Music] kids are playing hard john hands on hips both sides of the ball so far 35 seconds waving for a little bit of support there nobody came in for him i'm surprised nobody wants to play for him right now trips to the left here 25 seconds remaining in the quarter 14-0 east ham is going to roll to his left looking and throw that ball high and incomplete yeah that's just great coverage right there that's great coverage there's little little holes in that one but uh i don't think mr hammonds was committed to it i'm not sure wait a little too long i'm not sure he was so comfortable rolling to his left there coach yeah didn't seem like he had his shoulders in the right position thrown across his body i bring up third and 12 12.

ballrest on the 40-yard line on the right hash 18 and a half seconds remaining in the first quarter late substitution for the dogs looks like there might be a little bit of confusion we're settling in now eight seconds on the play clock trips to the left looking to pass again he's going downtown and he's got a receiver over the throne he's trying to get it he's trying to hit patel and i i gotta be honest i love this patel kid we we watched him play in the scrimmage a few weeks ago and he had a he had a nice night at the scrimmage and we talked about his blocking actually a couple of times in the scrimmage he did a nice job that time right there unfortunately i thought he stopped running he needs to keep that sprint going through that pass if he if he keeps running there he is in the end zone and that six unfortunately got overthrown i thought it was i thought was a good ball low snap fielded and that ball is out of bounds shanked out of bounds for north about nine maybe a yeah watch this official and see how far he comes up that's trouble that ball's gonna be spot at the 47 yard line of east seven seconds remaining that is a i think it was a four and a half yard kick maybe not i'm just guessing yeah snap that was filled in the short hop and just trying to get the ball away at that point it seems ease takes the ball over twins receiver to the field snap is low give the mcdonald heels there we there by number go dawson adams [Music] start of the second quarter here 14-0 east leeds 14-0 east leeds here at the beginning of the second quarter officials set the ball in play it is second down and 16 the ball rests on the 41 yard line low snap balls loose that's unfortunate coach you mentioned earlier having a hard time getting that snap cleanly back to parks and not a whole lot you can do at that point yeah you know you you you got these guys they're they're out there they're they're working you got dawson standing across from them he's a big big guy and you're just trying to get a good snap off and make your block so it's a tough job but he needs to get it up two by two formation here for the o's there he goes and park's gonna keep it this time covering the ball up and he's brought down at the 42 yard line that'll bring up fourth down big thanks to columbus wealth for their sponsorship today as well as first financial bank and rudolph hum mortgage the 250 ticket capacity sure does leave a sting in the community on these days but certainly appreciative that we are playing ball and very thankful for the sponsorship so he can bring this stream into your living room kicks away pressure by the dogs ball is caught cleanly and a fair catch by cassette at the 30-yard line [Music] coach what do you what do you expect here second quarter start north with the ball again what do you expect to interesting i think they've done a you know the olympians have done a really nice job against the running game of columbus north i think you know the north team's probably going to have to open it up a little bit throw the ball a little bit more which i think will help their running game you know we know that these you know this this huffman kid's going to get his yards eventually you know in a smash mouth game like this that you keep running it long enough you're going to get your yards but i think they got to open it up a little bit tripp's formation for the dogs huffman in motion and hammond's going to pull it and cannot get away from the defenders in the middle of the field looks like he was close to springing that one back on the inside zone ends up with a yard though short gain will bring up second and eight for the dogs ball right in the middle of the field [Music] two by two formation for columbus north gun set back to pass and ball is thrown and intentionally thrown to blythe a sophomore in the flat over here but it is low and behind them it'll bring up third and eight life is another kid that we saw in the scrimmage a few weeks ago scored a few times in the uh in the scrimmage um on some longer plays too you know a couple of you know 10 12 yard passes that he turned into 60 yarders uh so good young player definitely another threat for the bulldogs dogs come in line third and eight trips to the right scruggs the lone receiver to the field side and huffman's gonna excuse me hammond's gonna run it and flips it to huffman who's gets a head up for about six more yards but that'll bring up fourth and two see what columbus north decides on this play you kind of wonder maybe they go for it here it does not appear there's a personnel change yet except for one player so offense still remains under aggressive play but i think you're in a game where you know this could be a game changer they get a first down here they go down they get a touchdown could could get them back you know head wise back in the game make them feel great there we go fourth down two to go oh they're just going to hold off trying to get him to jump east won't go for it play comes in from the sideline now hammond's calls will play at the line of scrimmage and we're going to line back up again a quick kick barely got that play off coach with one second on that oh and he gets a great bounce nobody back freeze to receive nice play call from columbus north always going to roll down to the 11 yard line yep and good hustle [Music] coach you played football at hope college i believe is that correct oh very very long time ago sir what position did you play at uh our faithful hope well i think back then it would have been it would have been strong safety i played safety i was probably the weak side guy more than the strong shot guy leather helmets or plastic helmets oh we had plastic helmets or fiberglass whatever they're made out of he's with the ball 10 yard line the ball is given to villarreal on the outside goes nowhere and there is a flag on the field ah it's just great defense i love this i love this kid number six mr king he is a fantastic downhill he's a great safety he comes downhill and he brings the he he does he he hits hard he's a tough player paul is holding against east looked like it was in the interior of the line there i didn't quite see it but i did see the flag fly from the back judge north will accept that penalty i'm gonna bring up first and 17 from the five yard line oh and see i love this the olympians coming out in trips they're going to keep wrinkling it up they're going to come out yep absolutely parks keeps it this time he's got room to go yeah yeah it's interesting this and again you know watch the tape from last week against whiteline the olympians have have definitely changed their approach they certainly have no huddle here they're putting some pressure and this ball is going to go to mcdonald he's going to rumble ahead almost gets the first close to a first down but with that penalty it is only third down upcoming third one certainly playing with a bit of confidence here a shoe issue late substitution what does it mean to believe in something to truly support and get behind it to be committed and invested in making sure it succeeds and grows at first financial bank we go beyond banking providing resources for dreams that matter and giving back to projects that make a difference as our family grows our commitment to serve the community grows with it first financial bank because together we're better [Applause] [Music] back at max anders field third and one to go ball rests on the 21 yard line he's with the ball eight minutes 21 seconds remain in the second quarter and east leeds as a visitor 14-0 two-back set east here playing solid football right now coach they jump they jump [Music] tough penalty coach we talked about penalties before this game started it's unfortunate right you know you get into a rhythm and and it seems like a small thing five yards in a game like this is a long way it's a big deal and you know in that timeout in that huddle they told every one of them we're going on two 17 times they did they planned for it but it's week two coach and that stuff happens in week two same formation here for ease two back set the read is the villarreal but parker's gonna pull it there you go and that's a completed pass is brotsman across the 30-yard line for an east first down yeah you can see that one that that that hole was you know he had 10 yards of space on both sides of him there that was a great pass wonderful throwing catch there xander rossman the senior tight end former rock creek bulldog coach thank you to mcdonald park's gonna keep it this time and he is rumbling ahead for about a gain of four there's a theme here coach i mean you you know these kids i know a few of them were your principal your principal i know a few of them is right here from here and there yeah these kids are great both sides this time to give us mcdonald's and he has sprung to the outside across the 45 40 35 30 25 20 15 10 touchdown touchdown east boy he's strong his kid's powerful i mean he was he was caught you just can't you cannot bring a kid that runs that hard it's true on both sides you know huffman kid the same way you cannot bring these kids down by grabbing their jersey right all that's gonna do is hurt your hand you know you grab on the jersey you're going around the corner he's just going to pull away from you and you saw it in the open field there the acceleration was pretty impressive when he hit he hit the outside and he was he turned it on with the kick up and away and it's good wow just like that east 21 to zero seven that's what the north team expected this is not what they expected coach i'm not sure that is anybody in blue on this side of the field expected because these fans are sitting a little quiet on the blue side a lot of credit a lot of credit goes to the olympians and the in the plan they put together i really think they they did a nice job of looking at last week's film which if you if you watch the the the replay or the film from the north game they they played a great football game it was it was actually as close to a perfect football game as i think you could have played against a tough team and yet there were still opportunities and and you know we talked about it earlier the the um the gibson southern team i don't know they threw it they probably threw the ball 40 50 times plenty and and it wasn't it wasn't just the fact that the d-line play was great for north and the safeties and the corners played well the gibson southern team helped them out they dropped probably 10 to 12 balls in that game and they were all in the range of the balls we're seeing being caught here tonight and so the olympians picked up on that told their catchers to go out and catch balls and that's what's happening and they get some great running as well from mcdonald's and villarreal so really well balanced plan that third touchdown by east brought to you by overhead door of south central indiana appreciate their sponsorship and from the wells family that ball is kicked low and i'm on that one yeah touched by one of the front linemen of north and the ball is recovered by north at the 40 yard line and they will at the least have a good field position here to start this drive with seven minutes to go in the second quarter [Music] first and ten ball rests on the 40-yard line left hash [Music] two receivers set to the field side two receivers set to the boundary side with a tight end single back give us to huffman he is looking for room and he is tough kid still running ahead nine yards about a gain of nine there for huffman chase harrison again he takes it personal right the mcdonald kid comes in here and runs all over the place on his home field i can guarantee the huffman kid is is not done for the night he he is excited to play football and he's probably more excited now because he's got something to prove hammond's back to pass looking going downtown this time keaton is open he is breaking loose all the way down to the five yard line [Music] it's a big gain of 50 yards for the dogs across the middle hammond's the cast header yeah that one is another one you could see that one open up uh it was he was he was more than wide open great great wide receiver uh cass setter just a really good talent runs hard plays hard seems like he plays emotionally he's excited a lot that's great good goal and that ball was well thrown as well big formation here for the dogs they're going to run the ball huffman take it right to him then he gets down to about the uh call of the two you so coach i mean we'll watch this huffman kid play we're now watching the olympians just play outstanding defense is huffman going in right here i mean do you what do you think who's going to win this one the two yard line they got three more plays what's the over under on who gets the ball here who's going who's gonna stop poop second and two ball is given to huffman he's gonna be ahead for a touchdown for the dog [Applause] just like that columbus north answers with the big drive of their own [Music] i like i like o-line play they never get mentioned by name but there's a lot of good blocking going on there the kick is up by ward and it is good [Music] you [Music] it'd be great for them if they can get if they get this game to 21-14 it almost feels like it's 0-0 honestly i i think it's that kind of game they got hit pretty hard 21-0 right out of the gate and if they get it back to within seven i think it feels like it's all knotted up carter ward puts the ball on the tee on the 40-yard line and the kick is deep and zappy is attempting to return it but it's well deep in the end zone as you know coach in high school wall you cannot return the ball out of the end zone so it'll be first and ten from the 20 for the o's yeah it's a significant advantage i think if you get a kid that can kick it back there consistently landed in the end zone that's just a that's a pro a huge positive for your team special thanks again to our sponsors ruloff mortgage elevation technology first financial bank columbus wealth jolie rentals and development and overhead door of south central indiana first and ten for the o's the ball rests on the 20-yard line 608 remains in the second quarter 21-7 parks are going to pull it he's going to keep it and he's looking for room still stood up by a host of dogs but not until he picks up seven second and two now ball on the left hash ball rest on the 28 yard line this time the ball is given to mcdonald there's a flag on the play a lot of dogs coming downhill to stop the ball that time coach let's see what the flag is there's a whole shorts on the tackle again one of the first dogs there for north preliminary calls holding against [Music] these north will accept that penalty and replay second down and will bring up second and 13 from the 17-yard line twins formation single back the ball is given to mcdonald again looking for room and he gets about three or four and he's stopped that'll bring up third and nine for the o's third and on for the olympians substitutions in and out of the game looks like they're going to set up in a trip's formation to the field side single safety for the dogs he's going to keep it himself on the boundary side and that is a big tackle big tackle there scruggs on the tackle for north huge play he's a lone dog out there that's a tough play to make out there and all that space goes fourth and one fourth and one here for columbus east i do not see a punt team substituting in here we go there we go it's a big deal it'll be a hard count and try to draw them offsides maybe give it to bill reel and he is he's gonna get seven he's certainly gonna get a first down matter of fact he only had one dog to beat that was holt on the tackle for columbus north but if holt didn't make that play trice is still running [Music] he looks like a strong kid right he's what is he five six five seven and 180 pounds i think he's five seven about 280.

yeah he's a big dude he's a strong kid fake is to build real and parks is looking to go downtown this time he's got a receiver oh a little bit of contact there's a little boy i actually just i love the play that truck just made it was a good effort for the uh for the look like a tight end um but scruggs is all over them right and a little bit of hand check you got to let that go didn't seem to affect the outcome of the play wow 3 58 remains in the second quarter and looks like north is getting a late time out there he's tried to snap it realizing north wasn't ready but timeout is granted and that i believe remains gives north one time out remaining east still a three yeah i think east learned their lesson last weekend on timeouts they haven't had many reasons to call timeout tonight but last weekend it was one of the factors in the end of their game um they got down to one timeout and they needed they needed more clock and they just they just ran out of time because they didn't have enough timeouts they had a couple of pre-play timeouts called because they were either formation challenges or they don't like what they saw wrong personnel whatever but the olympians got stuck on timeouts last weekend certainly appreciate the spectators here at the ball game complying with the mass compliance and distancing is as best as can be achieved certainly there's a lot in the line here for for these boys and the boys and girls of other sports they want to save our season so we rely heavily on both the school community and the community at large in order to do that so thanks to everybody who is masking up out in the community and doing all that we can to lessen the spread of covet and continue our season here at columbus north and columbus east high schools second intend to go parks is going to pull it he's going to scamper ahead and he's got room to go holt the lone guy to run him out of bounds here again that's a big gain for columbus east all the way down to the 30 yard line 24 yard gain three minutes 50 seconds remain in the second quarter likely park's longest run in the night he's got to have 100 yards so far ready coach this time they give us to villarreal and he charges the head for about a gain of five coach we talked the beginning of the game about who established his line of scrimmage and it seems like it's the team in white oh they're definitely playing tough and uh and the parks kids playing outstanding football i mean he gets another four or five yards there and that's a big deal right it keeps the drive going and it takes time off the clock it goes back to what we're talking about the columbus north bulldogs wanted to win the last six minutes of this half because it makes them feel good going into the half and right now the olympians are winning the last six minutes of football here and if they put another score and a score up it's gonna be this could be tough i absolutely agree give this to mcdonald this time he's trying to get outside good pursuit by the dogs loft in there comes across makes a nice play good tackle shorts and lofton combined to make the tackle there clock runs 250 remains 250 on the clock play clock also running fourth down one to go ball in the 21 yard line north fans to their feet gonna help the dogs [Music] give us the bill reel and he gets by one and he's still charging ahead that's gonna be close i don't think you got it i do not think you got it i think he's three or four inches short there they're gonna stop the clock a minute they're gonna measure that one it's gonna be interesting coach that that that field it needed to be oh i was gonna say that field official looked like he gave a pretty generous spot but uh the officials didn't take much of a look at it yeah they said it's that's a turnover he's two inches short i mean it was so close great great run but uh even better defense there that's fun to watch pretty good eye if you can notice that's two inches short from it's well look how close the ball is to the white line big guy all right perch up here better man than i am two by two formation if you count the tight end here strong left single back to give us the huffman he's going to look on outside zone trying to get up it just lowers the shoulder i like how this kid runs he is tough the game is six yards down to the 26 yard line 2 10 coming up on two minutes just one timeout remains for the bulldogs as we previously mentioned in high school football they got plenty of time right they get first down they get to move the chains clock stops on the chains they got a timeout or two and you know they're they're going to be fine i do think they need to put it in the air a little bit hammond's back to pass speaking of which he's going downtown again looking for cass steady a little bit of a hold i'll tell you the old 30s look like what parker harrison i think was on the on the defend there he he looked like he snuck he got a little bit of a tug on the jersey got away with it there was a little bit of contact down field i'm not sure if that was by design or keegan had the wrong route or whatever if i'm parker and i see cass that are out there in the slot i'm probably going to hold him i'd hold him he ran by me last time for 65 yards i'm gonna hold him coach if it were you or i out there defending we would have to tackle him at the line of scrimmage because we'd trip him ham is looking to pass again this time what a great ball that's a first down shrug just lays himself out there makes a great catch uh but a good ball that's the that's the spot he has to throw it in and as you see the clock stops there for a minute looks like he did not quite get out of bounds and get out of bounds as you mentioned coach the clock does stop for the change to move in high school ball but as soon as they're set at restart so off we go two by two formation hammond's back to pass again he's looking center looking over white flight in the middle gets the first down great catch way to get into that he just sits down in the coverage really perfect play you saw cassette come over the middle crosses to the from the right to the left and then blythe goes the other way ham is a run this one charging ahead he's still on his feet 44 yard line that's uh close to another first down performance quickly up to the ball just one timeout remains as we said less than a minute to go in the in the half here two by two formation hammonds again looking oh and nobody blocked the end that's a sack they might have to use a timeout here coach got to yeah you got to have it's unfortunate there i think hammond's had a quick out to cast center if he wanted it on the right side of the field it was a long throw looking for a new home well you might need a loan you know applying for a mortgage doesn't have to be so tedious or time-consuming introducing loan butler by ruoff home mortgage loanbutler makes it easy to apply for a mortgage online by compiling each of your important loan documents into one secure space just a clickity click and before you know it your home delightful apply online today visit [Music] loanbutler.com back at max anders field 47 seconds remain in the first half 21 to 7 east leads north comes to the ball trips to the right officials set the game ball in play and here we go looking to pass nice yeah so you guys are at home watching this thing and you're thinking how to get that wide open my guess is that the olympians are sitting back and saying let's not give up the big play right now they're willing to give them five at a time 41 seconds left so you'll probably see a few more receptions i don't think you're going to see a deep ball trips to the right for columbus north here hammond's back to pass again looking to his left still looking to his left he's going to scramble still on his feet oh he's got him oh he's sprung loose that's going to be his score yeah that's hayden mcdaniel he's the 6-1 senior there's a flag back here on the 36-yard line coach that is a hold and that is a big deal it is a legal man down field for north yeah it's the same thing we talked about earlier when the quarterback holds it that long the big guys have a hard time not running down field and and he actually looked like he was gonna scamper a bit there right so he looks like he's gonna run with it but then he sees number four up the side all alone so he throws it to him and the bigs are already running right it's unfortunate let's see what they can do the younger players one second the quarterback cannot throw the ball once he passes line of scrimmage but once a play breaks apart like that it is hard for those big guys up front to know where that line of scrimmage is originally and it's easy to lose track there's a buffer zone where the linemen can move ahead but if they get outside that three-yard zone it's a penalty 31 seconds 31 seconds remain first and 15 ball on the 48 trips with the tight end to the field hammond's back to pass again ball goes deep again to scrubs what a catch at the 25 yard line oh my oh [Music] that was such a great catch that was such a great catch oh drugs i don't know we've been talking about people a lot this year and mr scruggs says hey now yeah he gets some mr scruggs on that one don't forget about me over here mr last that one i thought that he had that play on the sideline just a few plays ago too where he kind of dove and cut i thought he was just being pretty with it right dive just for fun that one was i mean that's legit right there back to pass again same play over to huffman he's gonna run out of bounds down to the 17-yard line 19 seconds remain 19 second tremaine in the half no timeouts for the dogs 21-7 east leads but north is charging and that play's going to be wide open you've got scruggs over there you know they're they're playing man to mana and scruggs because they can't let him have the back horn in the end zone we saw that in the scrimmage he's going to go to the back corner and catch everything he's thrown that's thrown at him so huffman's going to have the flat all day 19 seconds remaining [Applause] hammond's back to pass they're looking for scruggs that ball is up in the air and knocked down incomplete pass east had safety help on that ball there struggles almost came down with that with one hand he sure did he's quick to send safety help over there on that you guys want to route to scrubs you got man-to-man and then you got the safety over the top with the help great defense great defense scruggs still almost catches that ball third and three balls on the 18-yard line [Music] 13.7 seconds to go second quarter reed just came off the field i'll tell you he had a great i didn't mention it but reed had a great pickup block a few plays back he did a nice job protecting his quarterback hammond's back to pass looking looking he's gonna run now he's got room to go and he is knocked out of bounds at the three yard line seven seconds remaining wow if the pride of a kalamazoo says he's at the two yard line then he's at the two yard line six seconds remaining two no timeouts for the dogs first down gun formation hammond's gonna keep it and he is he's in trouble he's wrapped up and that's gonna that's gonna end the half [Applause] [Music] hi i'm jacob martin and this is columbus wealth i am a financial planner here in columbus indiana born and raised a local kid graduated from purdue university and decided that i wanted to come back here to serve my community with money and to help people understand that this stuff doesn't have to be complicated it doesn't have to be surrounded by mystery we understand that there is a importance that is placed on what a dollar does for you and so if i can help someone understand how to use a dollar to do more than one thing that's a pretty neat thing to be able to do and that's what i do every day i often hear that it's nice to just have a third voice in the room or maybe it's a second opinion i mean depending on who we're sitting down with and when in life we want to be centered on the client and that becomes a relationship we're able to sit down and help people on a macro or micro scale where i can get to know them understand more about who they are because just like how i had to learn all of these things at some point in time in my life and i'm still learning every day i want to teach people those same concepts and so we do that by helping people analyze that full picture we're best used by planning and helping people understand how do you use insurance tools how do you use investments how do i look at this differently if i am a business owner or i work for the state or i work for a large corporation those are all different things that matter and different solutions come up in that picture so we want to help people best navigate that growing up in columbus i always found that one of the things we did really well here was to work together i think you see a community that supports itself that it revolves around the idea that not everybody is an expert at everything we're okay with that and that's what we're about at columbus wealth so if at all you're motivated to better understand how money works in your plan and what we might be able to do for you i'd suggest that you take a look at our website you can find us at www.columbuswa find us on facebook at our columbus wealth inc facebook page we hope you get the chance to reach out to us and we'd be happy to talk to you with whatever those issues might be [Music] all right welcome back it takes a minute or two um in terms of getting close they're live yeah you can you can be about right there they can folks can hear us at home so and we're getting text messages from everybody so that's fun they'll tell us if we're not loud enough so uh so we're here with uh dr roberts and uh have a fun opportunity to interview you just a little bit about what we can talk about the game but we can also talk about school year you guys are about i think 15 days back to school yeah josh so yeah three weeks in yeah it's been quite quite the ride yeah it's a good start here yeah but good to get into this east east north week this makes it feel like we are really in school and somewhat back to normal yeah how would you assess the first for the students i know you're going to a bunch of meetings and trying to help the community but how are the students doing in the first 15 days in your opinion yeah i think they're doing well and of course we have all kinds of different options going on for our kids so whether they're back in school full-time or we're taking advantage of one of our remote options with 11 300 kids uh we have about 3 200 that are doing remote learning in one form or another and then the rest of them in the buildings but i think that kids are doing well uh the ones that are back in the buildings are glad to be here and and again it seems like pretty decent start and this week helps helps level things off a little bit and feel a little better yeah it feels a little bit maybe not perfectly normal but it's nice to see a big game in the community and yeah going back to the normal as i look across here and see the east side it's a few few fewer people in the stands than we typically see at this time of year so that's true uh an example of the differences but uh yeah a good week for us yeah i'll just tell you as a parent um you mentioned the the the options that the kids have as a parent you know and my wife's a teacher in the community and uh and so is dr bozeman's wife's also teacher you know these these folks are out there we appreciate the teachers the work they're doing uh giving multiple options to kids is really difficult and we just we just want to say we appreciate it greatly what you guys are doing yeah i appreciate that our teachers are doing incredible work to to accomplish all of the things that we've asked them to do and i guess we there are a lot of other people ask them to do that as well but my wife too you mentioned the teachers she's a second grade teacher in our school corporation and whether it is uh bridge bridge students or or the columbus virtual pathway or the students they have in the classroom trying to meet the needs of all of those groups in one way or another is really challenging but i think they're getting it done in a great way hopefully our community is is seeing that appreciating that at that too yeah we're better off so you know dr bozeman shared with me that you're a music guy i do like music you're a music buff are you a buff are you like kind of buff i just kind of listen to everything yeah okay and uh so let's have let's have some fun okay what do you think you do we'll do a little bit music fun your music fun is good all right so think about it so you you got tom petty sure elvis yeah and prince what's up the southern boys you got phil florida with petty and tupelo mississippi with elvis and minneapolis minnesota so we're going south yeah let's yeah it's a crazy hodgepodge of great amazing talent can you stack rank them for you for yes i can yeah yeah and i love all three of those so so good picks but it's elvis tom prince oh wow okay congratulations is uh yeah that's that's where i start how'd you end up being an elvis fan well i think um i just my mom and dad listened to elvis when i was growing up and uh he kicked things off in 1954 that's all right mama they're at sun records in memphis it was a great start to to music of all kinds uh i think everything that we hear today has its roots back at sun records in memphis so i see them as not only the king but the birth of rock and roll awesome well it's good it sounds like you probably use music to relax a little bit it is it is that get rid of the stress yes i go through the decades on my radio each each day start with the 50s on monday and roll for each decade all the way to the day by the end of the week and and go to go to sleep at night listening to a new artist different artist just to just help me relax excellent well we we've got some fans out there dr bozeman and i have have had a ongoing argument about hair bands oh gosh and uh you know yeah 80s hair bands and so we're going to play the same game with you okay we're going to change it up a little bit for you i'm going to give you four bands i want you to tell me the one that you think is not a hair band okay four bands and one that's not a hair band yes so so cinderella okay bon jovi metallica's not a hairband why do you say metallica's not a hairband they've got got the hair but they they weren't the glamour hair they didn't have it teased and styled blow-dried and and and their look was just just different okay so you had to be glam to be a hair you had to be glad yes there was some there was not only the hair but also what you were wearing yeah added to the leather yeah yeah the whole thing right yeah some big colors yeah a little loud maybe maybe some makeup so there's a lot of things going on with the hairbands yeah absolutely that's that's my uh that's when i grew up in the 80s it's kind of a strange a strange decade strange time but yeah those four metallica great um bon jovi i i like bon jovi fine i love the four if i was to rank those metallica and bon jovi at the top and then the other two would be behind in terms of what i would listen to yeah you know it's it's funny i i i love and there's lots of fans out there metallica started the game with the for the north bulldogs everybody likes likes a little bit of metallica but i was the big cinderella fan yeah and maybe people don't know yeah yeah but bon jovi helped put them together they did yes yeah so new jersey area based group yeah and uh bon jovi got him playing in a pub bar i think in that area and got him signed to a contract and off and running so now they're back to playing pub bars that's what happens with a lot of things they do the cycle they go out maybe make a little money they come back and have to keep playing hey if elvis shows up at a pub we're all going you know it's always possible they're they're siding still all the time if you know that elvis has now been gone longer than he was with us yeah wow so so just this year on april august the 16th just a few days ago that was 43 years to pass elvis was 42 when he when he died yeah wow crazy yeah great talent great talent sad when people leave early i heard bozeman i think one of his favorite songs might be i want you to want me by chief trick is that yeah is that the case that's what he told me he actually he he wants to know uh he actually asked me cheap trick or chicago is he wanted to know what you thought a cheap trick i i like cheap trick but i think great but see i'm a beatles fan and cheap trick like they they kind of hooked on the beatles melodies harmonies and and uh and and carrie tried to carry that forward a little bit more pop of course but saw a cheap trick yeah yeah okay he'd say chicago i know he would yeah and a great man awesome instrumentation and the cheap trick yeah all right so two questions left give us the analysis rest of the game what's going to happen yeah so i've been a little surprised that north has has not moved the ball as well as i thought they would i was looking for huffman to to have a few more yards on the ground east has done a great job very first drive north came out had looked like they were moving very well holding pull brought him back and installed in the second second drive i think they fumbled at midfield so starting to roll here at the end of the end of the first half i look forward to be very close game i i think missed missed out an opportunity maybe left some points on the field there at the end of the second quarter but i look forward to it to be a tight tight game as we finish off here yeah i'm sure they're talking about whether quarterback draw sure yeah that's yeah all of us have an opinion of what should happen to there right well you sit back you wonder if you can throw it with six seconds that's probably the play you want to make but you can't because it's takes maybe seven seconds so it's a tough call easy for us to make that decision up here in the booth right and we don't have to live with the decision and tim made the call he thought would work and that's how it goes so i got smarter when i started doing this without question and i'm questionable i think yeah i get a lot a lot of people are smarter than me when it comes to school stuff sometimes so i get it i do get it exactly well hey dr roberts we we hope you come back talk music more next time anytime hopefully your job gets a little easier i know it's not difficult as we get in and and really talking about this week getting through things we're now three weeks in it started to feel more like school yeah every day gets a little bit better we start to settle in understand the process these protocol routines and our kids are doing great again with everything so looking forward to at least getting to labor day having a month in and we'll see what happens after that yeah hopefully the parents and the students can continue to help the teachers and the administrators great to have you we love to we love their support and and just ask the community to continue to to do what we need to do we're doing all these things at school to mitigate the spread of the virus and whatever our community can do to help us we can't stay in school if the community isn't helping us out so we we ask that of the community and and otherwise and with that being said we'll be able to continue charging ahead thank you so much all right appreciate it take care welcome back to max andrews field i think there might have been a hairband debate in that interview i'm not sure i was down the other side of the of the uh of the press box attention fans who plan to attend tomorrow's jv football contest at columbus east high school due to seating restrictions fans attending the contest tomorrow will not be allowed into the football stadium until the freshman game has ended and the stands have been cleared please plan on arriving at 11 30 and the gates will open at 11 35 for the noon kick once again if you plan to attend the jv contest tomorrow at those gates will not open they'll clear the stands of the freshman contest before the jv spectators are allowed to come in because of the same seating capacity restrictions that are in place quick run down the stats from that first half the visiting east olympians 25 carries for 229 yards on the ground 81 passing yards parks was two for four passing completions mcdonald the leading rusher with 11 carries for 137 yards parks nine carries 75 yards and villarreal five carries for 19 yards bergman the leading receiver for east one catch 67 yards and one touchdown and xander rotspin one catch 14 yards north had nine first downs in the first half 25 carries for 109 yards 11 in the elec 111 excuse me yards in the air seven of passing completions for hammonds huffman the leading ball carrier for the dogs 16 carries 66 yards and one touch his long being 17 yards hammond's eight carries 41 yards [Music] we're saving yards [Music] dogs are dogs come out on the field out of the locker room and east shortly behind them here i'll put three extra minutes back on the clock here to get the get the teams out and loosened up fairly clean game in the first half there no injuries thankfully no cramps from what i've seen thankfully looks like they've done a good job of taking your advice and hydrating in terms of penalties east he's had five penalties he's had five penalties for 33 yards north two penalties for 15 yards i think east can can really uh benefit you know they need to turn the the penalty game off i think that's right i know that they're up by 14 but if they they play the same way this half the couple of those snaps and a few penalties i think it hurts them more this half a great first half but still they got to get rid of the sloppy play there's been a couple penalties on both sides of the ball that are really stung brought the ball back after a significant gain i mean really in that that last drive that north drive they got that ball back with good field position largely because of a penalty that that the olympians had you know they had the ball about 45 yard line they were in good field position themselves and they had a penalty that set them back they could have taken a ball down the field so penalties matter and we need to eliminate the mistakes on both sides columbus north travels for their first road game next week they will travel to southport and columbus east hosting elkhart new opponent from northern indiana will make the drive here [Music] east will reciprocate that next year once again just going over some halftime stats there for for both teams it looked like east controlled the ground game 229 yards on the ground for the east olympians led primarily by mcdonald 24 with 137 yards he did have that big one that he sprung from 66 coach which helps this statistic line north with 109 yards on 25 carries huffman 16 carries for 66 yard his long being 17.

what do you anticipate to see in the running game here in the second half well coach i mean i i think north will continue to loosen it up a little bit with some passing they're gonna you know and huffman's gonna get his touches i i do think at some point and i saw this last week i do think if huffman continues to run the ball that you'll see east is going to loosen up a little bit because they're just going to get tired um and as will the north defense so i think the running game we'll see both sides probably run it a bit more than then throw it uh unless we get into a situation late in the game where north is still down by 14 points but if this thing gets close and it becomes a seven point game or even a tie game i think you're gonna see uh you know round game uh a lot of a lot of straight ahead maybe off off tackle um hard running and uh and i think the team that has the most energy at the end of fourth quarter is gonna be the team on top still anybody's ball game for sure coach i'm not sure if i mentioned before but you are an assistant coach at central middle school how are the chargers looking this year so far i'll tell you the uh the middle school team that uh you know coach schultz is leading uh you know he's doing a fantastic job we got a lot of great guys on the staff and uh and i'm out there helping out and glad to be out there but these kids are 2-0 um they've played two great football games we've got some good skilled position players we have a good offensive line good defensive line some big kids actually seventh graders big you know bigger than me it would scare me a little bit see seventh graders that big but really great football team i think a central uh middle school team this year is going to be real fantastic so hard to beat there's a couple of cancel games for the middle school teams this year so one fill in as they'll actually northside and central play twice this year in that first seventh grade contest will be this coming monday the ward kicks the ball away it's going to be received by east at about the four yard line to start the year the third period yeah that's bergman again he brings the ball out to the 32 yard line yeah i think uh you know sticking with the the little guy football middle school football i i remain impressed with the talent level um i think the coaching in the community is real good uh and i think we'll see some great games from these kids it'd be great to play against you and coach perry uh monday night and we're glad to see uh see you guys twice this year it'll be really fun and i think all the kids you know they've grown up playing together they look forward to those two games plenty of young talent here in columbus something to look forward to they gave us mcdonald here first and ten for the o's and he has stood up after a gain of just two yards to the 35-yard line certainly both middle school programs fortunate to have experienced coaches varsity former varsity assistant coaches and coach clark coach perry coach chad miner joining the crew this year a handoff is fake to mcdonald but it's going to be kept by parks and he goes he goes nowhere this time that's going to bring up third and third and seven for the o's i think you're seeing a little bit of you know the theory we talked about right they're to come out and just push it a little bit and see if they can get a quick couple five yard gains but north has held up nicely the last two runs but you can tell they're fired up still they want to tackle the football nate austin clogging things up for the dogs this time parks are gonna roll out to his right looking to throw he's got pressure turns back oh that ball is tipped incomplete bring up fourth down almost uh almost a pick pressure there by lofton on a on a db blitz yeah that's a good right there that's a good result for north they're going to end up getting really good field position out of this you know cass setter is the kind of kid that if you kick to him he can return it so they got to be thoughtful about where they want to where they want to kick this ball i don't know if i'd kick it directly to him i might rugby style kick it to him and make him take a ground ball points away it's deep good kick received at the 20 yard line back pedaling and huffman with a good block he's going to spring out to the outside he's got a little bit of space and he's running out of mounds at the 37-yard line that's a 17-yard return for the dogs will be first down yeah you saw in the first block that was i mean really great block by huffman and then uh holt picks up the second block there that springs up to the outside so nice return good catch good return special thanks again to columbus wealth and ovation technology for their generous sponsorship today as well as overhead door of south central indiana columbus north is going to start with the ball on their own 38-yard line they will start with trips to the field trips to the left hayman's out of the gun they gave us to huffman he's going to bounce it to the boundary side he's got room to go he's got room to go cuts back to the inside he's really good all the way down to the 26 26-yard line yup big play well we talked about it coach i mean you this kid he's been contained most of the night he's only got 66 yards and now he has 95 to 100 yards and he is still he he hasn't overworked himself yet he's got all the gas left in the tank to play a great second half absolutely they're gonna go right back to him again the same play this time he gets stopped up after a game or two previous play i think if my math is right was about a 42-yard game watch the this could be interesting you know they could give it to huffman 30 more times tonight i'd be surprised they're playing you know you got man-to-man coverage on the outside there bergman's had a great game but i wouldn't be surprised if they went try to test the patel kid again he he he was wide open earlier tonight had a great it ran it ran a route and he just slowed down a bit they could go back to him at some point mix it up try to get him in the corner gave us to huffman again he's looking for room he's across the 20 and he's going to be stopped at about the 19-yard line by a host of those that'll bring up third in about four yeah i mean the olympian defense is stout they are tough kids up front um i mean all these kids are they just they are coming straight downhill their defense their coach should be just absolutely pleased cam shrum for the east and they're causing problems for the dogs clogging things up seems to always be around the ball third and four to go balls on the 19.

and we've got a flag looks like that's going to be offsides for the olympians and free first down for the dogs [Music] yeah they go with a heart count there they get the extra five they needed and we got an olympian player on the turf yeah i just he just tweaked his ankle a little bit i think he's gonna be okay it's devin cox he's a big part of the olympian defense the little limp under his own power hopefully we'll see him back he's also the guy that jumped uh he was just eager right he he came across the line and he was really quick and when he realized ball hadn't been snapped yet he stubbed his toe i think and twisted his ankle a little bit hopefully he's okay two receivers to the field side with the tight end tight end's gonna slice across the middle and kick out blocks again huffman and he's still on his feet still rumbling ahead down to the 16-yard line for a gain of about two yeah i think if you're if you're columbus north and you can you can pound the football six minutes seven minute drives you are you are putting yourself in a prime position because it's going to tire out the defense right so the the the philosophy they have right now is probably to give huffman the ball 25 times this half and uh maybe they throw in a pass or two but uh huffman looks good second and i'm gonna line up with trips move the tight end back to his position here we go and hammond's gonna sprint out to his left cass letter nope throws the ball up in there trying to get the cast editor that right there is great defense complete bask yeah they ran the whip route you know cass that it looks like he's gonna come across the mill he whips it out to the outside and the the defense uh was all over that play they watched the tape on that one we got another penalty on the field coach i think it might be a legal man downfield again and it is yeah i've seen that a couple times doing that a few times especially yeah both both sides of the ball absolutely yeah the olympians have done it as well it's just a five-yard penalty second 14 officially on the scoreboard the ball is on the 18-yard line on the right hash eight ten rem remains in the third quarter back to pass he's looking across the middle knocked down great play the ball is knocked down incomplete and we might have another job there just knocks it down like bergman might have been injured there but he's back up on his feet bergman's had a nice game tonight a couple big sticks and a really nice catching run he's definitely a player coach there's no doubt about that third and 14 now balls on the 18-yard line cowbells are coming out you ever have a cowbell coach trips to the left you can never have enough albums that's right hammond's looking back to the bounce right there across the middle oh you know he had if he leads huffman a little bit there and huffman's frustrated if he leads him and just tosses it towards the the the front of the goal line in the post the pile on there that is six he just got to throw it out there and let huffman run underneath and i just don't think he saw him field goal unit comes on the field this is carter ward and a late substitution by north looks like they're set with 11 now the ball's going to sit on the 25-yard line the attempt is a 35-yard field goal attempt snap is good kick is up it's low it's no good yeah that just came off his foot like a duck i mean it uh low flyer and uh unfortunately he's a good kicker really good kicker you wonder if something went wrong with a hold definitely upset goes right back to the net he's going to practice a little bit more he's going to get himself straight i don't have the numbers in front of me coach but between the last drive of the second quarter and that first drive there by north there's a lot of yards oh yeah between the stripes they got zero points out of that's that's tough east with the ball two by two formation single back parks in the gun he's gonna give to villarreal runs hard for an eight-yard game you know and he's the kind of kid you saw it last week he came in he he did he did a nice job in the whiteland game this kid is the kind of kid you get him in the third quarter fourth quarter he just looking to hit somebody every time he touches the football right he's not villarreal is not looking to run to the open field he's looking to run through you to the open field and he's going to wear you out there's a flag on this play parks carried the ball for uh what looked like a first down but there's an illegal shift to the preliminary call against east that ball will certainly come back and yeah it's funny you watch some of these kids you know the the uber athletic thinner wide-outs and tailbacks they kind of dance around and look for open space you get a big fullback big guy like villarreal you watch him he's looking to hit somebody downhill as soon as he gets the ball he's looking to hit somebody see that there he is with the ball against that guy right villarreal with the carry it's a it's gonna be a first down it and it takes four dogs to take him down yeah he is he is definitely a man to be reckoned with and playing playing a solid game certainly a benefit to the olympians to have two good backs that they can balance back and forth here parks are going to pull this one and sprint out that ball is out into the flat wow great play and he is he is shedding tacklers that is that is 22 trey neal train neal's the kid earlier that pancaked the guy in the middle of the field that's right and sprung the touchdown now we see him come back again he hits the guy that's trying to tackle me throws him on the ground runs for five more years tough kid for sure trips to the right balls on the 45-yard line first down park's going to keep it and gains nothing on the boundary side of the field here yeah i think you know right now trey the stick bergman had earlier trey neal two plays there right now those are my two favorite guys for the olympia they're just i mean they get the tough guy award osterman and scruggs combined on that tackle park's going to sprint out to his right and look throw again this one the brotsman and he caught it caught it first down great catch you know they're they're they're sticking with the strategy they had to start the game right i mean i thought they might come out and just pound the rock more but no they want to put up 21 more it's the same play that bronson caught in the first half about the same yardage low snap this time he's gonna give to villarreal shakes one tackle off and he gains about a gain or two before he's brought down rolling for three yards or two yards i mean if you're north you gotta shut that down that's gotta be a tackle for a loss low snap first hit comes in the backfield he's got to go down with a one-yard loss neil likens with a stop there for the dogs two by two formation low snap again but he gathers it park's gonna keep this one and runs into trouble again better tackling right there much better third down now and third and five officially on the board a little bit of a generous spot there coach but they think it's okay 5 31.

dogs bring another blitzer up on the line scrimmage parks are going to keep it again eventually they're going to give the jet to bergman i mean they're going to set that play up and set it up and they're going to run it eventually yeah the 5 15 left in the third north does not seem to be honoring that jet sweep coach i'm not sure i oftentimes see east give it but i agree it's certainly there fourth down now fourth and three to go five minutes remain in the third quarter [Music] this ball is going to be kept by parks and he is going to be picking up the first down tough run parks just bowls for four savion's coming in big first down for the olympians there keep the chains moving your guys in coach sabio savion banks 51 let's see if we can hurt the middle oh villarreal with the carry i'll tell you the the villarreal is tough kid but that the olympians offensive line right now is absolutely rolling they are moving you you can't see blue jerseys for the first two or three yards they are going no huddle and they're going quickly and they are taking it to them this is this could be a pretty good moment here the olympians can take it four yards a pop and march it down there and put it up put it up another six on the board it'll feel pretty rewarding third down and three to go just three four five yards at a time coach double tight formation this time they give us to villarreal and he is moving ahead this time he's got safeties making tackles that's a first down for the olympians four minutes remain in the third quarter [Music] they're mixing it up so well you have to honor their run and then they you know every once in a while they'll drop back and try to throw eight nine yard good mix of plays right now same formation double tight to give us back to villarreal again this time you stop for no gain and we got a dog on the field with a cramp that was king i saw him hobbling last play coach yeah we don't want him down he's a great player and he remains on the turf here looks like he might be cramping yeah he is definitely cramped up that hopefully they can get it to get that resolved uh he is probably one of the best safeties we've seen so far this year a big rivalry game tonight and the olympians owe the bulldogs a big one who do you think's gonna win tonight no doubt i think north all the way he's always tough but i think north's got this one nobody ever gives the cheerleaders any credit go girls taylor what's uh jj thinking what's he saying i think it's the bulldogs all the way but look here's he is you can ask him yourself you know my dogs are ready all right in times like these you need all your assets to work together in the field in the office and at home for over 25 years ovation technology group has been the local leader in creating i t solutions that work and save you time and money from data security and hd thermal imaging to phone solutions and managed services integrating all your systems seamlessly ovation technology group for times like these a proud sponsor of columbus high school sports here ball in the 19 yard line low snap again parks is going to gather he's going to fire across the middle and that's a completed one completed play to trey neal again that same receiver i mean this kid's dynamite but we're making parks he's working too hard they got to get the snap up double tight formation again villarreal is the only back i could get take a guess where it's going how parks pulls it he's going to stamp ram for a score that's a big deal right there coach um park's a tough kid he's great throw previous play i i like i like the neil kidd outstanding catch overall just a fantastic drive by the olympians i go i think 70 yards there and take up you know four or five minutes at least four or five minutes off the clock if not more strong drive for sure from the east siders 27 soon to be 28 it is 28 to seven 327 remains in the third quarter [Music] and the p-a-t is good [Music] pretty much a football game columbus north comes down scores right now um but i tell you east is here to play they are playing tough football north enters this game winning the last four against east and uh you could argue at least a couple of those on paper uh should not have gone north away huffman's going to fall on the ball after having a hard time picking it up it's going to be on the 22-yard line just a reminder for folks that are attending the jv football game tomorrow at east due to seating and restrictions fans attending the jv football game will not be allowed into the football stadium until the freshman game has completed and the stands have been cleared this is all due to capacity restrictions due to covid please plan on arriving at 11 30 and the gates will open at 11 35 for that noon jv kickoff your cooperation is greatly appreciated cassettes on the right side of the field [Music] wonder if they're coming there give us to huffman up the middle he's going to charge ahead for about four yards interesting what they're doing there i think cass stutters on the right side of the field with patel and it's it'll it'll force coverage into the favor of north if they keep cast setters right there right side of the field i think it becomes favorable for north to throw the ball up the right hash brayden mcintosh a big big senior for east and they're clogging things up he coach he's listed at six two three fifty-five and what that does what i've seen happening here is that requires a double team and allows linebackers to make plays is scrambling here and still on his feet brought down at the first down 35-yard line for a first down that young man number 76 for the olympians is as big a dude as we've seen i think so far this year he's he's a big guy and he can move as well he almost he almost had an attack he's not just a big guy he's a big dude is that that's the roster conversation coach i mean what does it mean to believe in something to truly support and get behind it to be committed and invested in making sure it succeeds and grows at first financial bank we go beyond banking providing resources for dreams that matter and giving back to projects that make a difference as our family grows our commitment to serve the community grows with it first financial bank because together we're better so 280 285 i'd be a little bit more nervous well you get a couple guys up here in their 40s talking about them so if nothing else get some get some airtime out of the whole thing what were you listed at again coach when you're on the roster back in the day how what where where were you at [Music] i'm i'm sure i had 205 on there but i was not i wasn't close to 205 205.

i was a buck 80 soaking wet as i recall 2x2 formation here for the dogs and the hammons and the gun he's going to sprint out to his right he's got plenty of olympians on his tail running ahead he's going to get across the 40 though you know that a five yard game if you're if you're a wide out so that was a nice play by hammond's kid he's running around he's trying to get some yards if you're wide out and i i think the the columbus north whiteouts are fantastic white house but when your quarterback's on the run we got to get you guys coming back to the ball right so if you're out there you're a young guy and you're in everybody's flying you know down the field 15 20 yards somebody's got to come back and help the quarterback he needs a place to dump it off at five to 10 yards uh and you you guys learn to make that play and help your quarterback out at minimum you can make a block there's a patel kid yeah first down i like this kid quick zero route patel there and he moves ahead about four yards after the catch and that's going to move the sticks for a first down for columbus north 145 remains in the third quarter 28-7 o's [Music] ball in the 46-yard line right hash trips with a tight end fake to huffman hammond spins to his left looking he's got cast at her cast editor with a catch he's still on his feet great catch that was that was outstanding play i mean a little bit to the previous play where we said run the comeback route cass setter does a nice thing he watches his quarterback he doesn't go any further down the field and he sees that hammons is going to roll his way he just sits down in the coverage and waits for the ball really really good play on both uh for hammonds and cass center yep smart play there for sure cass that it rained his route and then realized it was broken and just found an open zone hammond's back to pass again touchdown touchdown good good play nice play that same post route we saw earlier coach had the safety to commit to the other side and open up the middle of the field and it's uh yeah you could see you could see that one he's 10 15 yards past the nearest defender it was an outstanding route he's just a fast kid right it just runs past the coverage really nice throw from hammond ward is on to kick the p-a-t kicks away ball is up and it is good [Music] [Applause] we're back at maximum [Music] quite a war back to kick from the center of the field ball is deep and is going to be received at about the seven yard line for east bergman is going to bounce it outside north may have lost containment but there is a flag yeah down probably a block or a hole either block in the back or a hole coming all the way back i'll tell you what that's going to lead to some weird field position too i'll tell you what coach that's i hate to be critical but that's uh that's a challenging penalty there because bergman's already out and around the corner and that hold or whatever it is had happened well behind the ball had no effect on the outcome of that play and and and here we go coming way back no need for that a difficult conversation and saturday morning film session for somebody yeah my guess is that they're going to have that conversation in just a few minutes and tomorrow morning yep and every day thereafter [Music] the call is a block in the back against the olympians and that ball is going to move back to the nine or nine yard line i'll tell you when i was playing you know 42 years ago my coach was the kind of guy that would he he'd get mad about it four or five games from now right and he'd remind me at halftime about the game you know in a different month villarreal with the carry goes nowhere you're saying he's the guy he'd run into at the bank three years later and he'd remind you of the of the bad penalty you made when you were 16.

and then why why did you get beat deep i mean we all have those coaches in our lives no doubt about it name them by name second nine here for east ballrest on the 10-yard line 30 seconds to go in the third quarter there's there's just going to give it to him this time he gets nothing they are great pursuit thereby by the dogs led by number 16 luke golding and on the tackle [Music] yeah you got a difficult decision i think as a coach you know you run the you run the jet and you fake it and you don't give it you don't give it you don't give it and you wonder if you're priming the pump i mean you know number 16 sitting out there he's just waiting for the jet to come he knows he knows they're gonna fake it he's prepared for the play all right great play great since the end of the third quarter 28-14 east fourth quarter folks it's a big deal fun time certainly still a ball game here at max anders field two score game again want to mention the thanks to our generous sponsors and enabling us to bring this broadcast to you today of home mortgage elevation technology first financial bank columbus wealth jolie rentals and jewelry development overhead door of south central indiana i appreciate their sponsorships in order to bringing this telecast to you today we talked earlier of the the odd feeling of just 250 fans per side here coach and normally there are several thousands so um we're glad we're playing we're glad that the community and the school community are making good choices to stay healthy but it is definitely a different feel here at max anders field tonight third and eleven is what the board says ball on the eight yard line for east they have trips to the right and looks like there's a loose ball and the dogs say they have it football the officials agree that's columbus north football huge change of events columbus north is going to take over possession of that football at the eight yard line first and goal to go that's a big deal [Applause] fans in blue coming to their feet [Music] john loaned his cowbell out the window here a second ago and it's being used i got a lot of cowbell you know you're gonna like that cowbell need more cowbell and snap us to hammond he's going to give it to huffman i've been looking for room and doesn't get far you know they got to be they got to be careful here right they it's these play calls are important um it's not just huffman left huffman right they have to they have to really think their way through this because they're on the six they got three downs and they need to get it in right they get it in and they're there i mean you could you almost it will it will feel like it's a tie ball game sure absolutely trips with a tight end to the field side now second sixth ball on the six he gave us to huffman he's gonna come to the field side and try to get outside he's got room to go and that's a touchdown wow yeah touchdown dogs six yard scamper from blake huffman [Music] yeah i like to talk about the old line the great great blocks up front but really that time you know wide receiver play again i make this this comment all the time for the young guys little guys out there learning to play wide receiver cass setter and scruggs just played two beautiful blocks got like huffman running it uh all he needs is a little window and you saw it right there great blocks mason brainsteader got out there wide for the dogs as a lineman and really opened things up pat is good it's 28-21 with 11 10 to go here in the ball game at max andreas field and it is once again a ball game you know coach you mentioned in times like these you need all your assets to work together in the field in the office and at home for over 25 years ovation technology group has been the local leader in creating it solutions that work and save you time and money from data security and hd thermal imaging to phone solutions and managed services integrating all your systems seamlessly ovation technology group for times like these a proud sponsor of columbus high school sports a little shout out you know we don't get to get a shout out [Music] all right welcome back carter ward teeing up here for the dogs [Applause] kick is deep and that's going to be in the end zone coach you were saying we've got some viewing parties going around around town right now is that your understanding everybody's uh obviously massed up and i think practicing uh you know doing what they can to stay safe but we got i think we got a couple groups out there we got yes cinema hopefully full of people with uh watching the game with their masks on yep in their hand hand sanitizer that's right big thanks to yes it's over kids over at uh east tonight auditorium is full of east that's right um great shout out to the kids over there love those kids and and we know all the we're getting you and i are getting a i don't know how many texts we've gotten but there's people all over columbus indiana watching watching football tonight so it's you know it's it's a new situation but it's great that people are still going crazy about football yeah they're able to participate and i think sand creek farms community has a viewing party going on tonight as well park's scrambling and he's looking across the middle that ball is nearly complete and dropped tough play there what a good opportunity for those high school students to be in that new auditorium that auditorium just recently finished um and that was you may or may or may not know this but that was done by refinancing existing debt that the district had and that was pretty much done at no cost to the to the taxpayers so refinance bonds that existed and uh pretty much a free project over there so very fortunate to be able to open that sprint out this time there's a flag on the play probably a legal formation from east yep parks throws and that is incomplete and we'll see what the flag is here you know this is uh we're gonna see what the play is here or what the the penalty is here coach but uh yeah they're they're gonna decline that north's gonna decline that one luke bless is telling his dad no we're declining that penalty i'll tell you it's it's it's really hard i think the olympians have come in tonight with a great game plan and because i think they have a couple of wrinkles in and some you know some changes to to go out and put something different in front of in front of the bulldogs i i just think you end up making a few of those kind of dumb dumb mistakes right you know personnel changes formation changes and it's it's unfortunate because they're playing a great football game as we said before it is week two and those things happen in week two here's the punt cast editor is going to receive it at the 45 will receive cleanly he's gonna bounce to the outside and tripped up a little bit of a shoestring tackle there by number 32.

tripped up at the 49 of east koopman i think elliott made that tackle um it's hard to see the uh orange orange numbers on the white jerseys with the lights so i think it was elliott elliott had a great game last week had two interceptions had a nice nice ball game against whitewater [Music] well here we go we got 10 28 to go in the ball game 28-21 east leeds north with some momentum the ball is on the 49-yard line of east first and ten left hash trips to the right they gave us to huffman he's gonna bounce it boundary side and he's got room to go steps out of bounds at the 35-yard line that's a quick 15-yard gain there by number 34. yeah so you got you got we got a dog down on the turf likely a cramp i don't think it's is it jj not sure i see a number yet coach that's uh it might be jj montgomery i believe it is yeah i think it is you know he had a nice seal block there to spring huffman and uh went straight down i think he's hopefully he's just hobbled a little bit jj is a 6-2 275 senior for the dogs run a lot of things around him one of those hog molly speaking of hog molly's i think hog molly might be having a viewing party over there as well [Music] that's jj hopefully he's gonna be okay he looks like he's walking okay he's doing getting off on his own [Applause] okay first intend to go ball's on the 22-yard line 10 22 remains trips to the right they gave us to huffman again and he is down at the 17-yard line [Music] you can see that huffman on that play you can see that huffman has still got a full tank of gas he is still excited to play football he does not look tired at all two by two formation with the tight end here hammond's looking for cast header again tough play there through his hands the cast let's just let it slip through there might be a flag on that far side of the field coach didn't see the preliminary call dogs are moving backwards again ineligible man that's that's a tough one coach that was like that was a quick pass i'm not exactly sure how lineman get down field on that play but i think your theory is right it's weird they're trying to mix it up and they're making some simple mistakes both sides bring up second and 11 the ball's on the 23 now trips to the right back to pass scrambling oh i tell you and that might have been picked off no they say he's out of bounds i tell you it and it's hard when you're running away from the field tyler blyth is wide open on the hash if hammonds could just have one more eyeball over the top of his earlobe or over top of his ear he'd have seen him he was alone in the middle of the field and screaming for him right well i think hammonds is kicking us off on that one patel patel sprung free and hammons didn't see him until late by that time that e safety came over the top to get to him 9 34 remains here in the fourth quarter third and 11 ball on the left hash trips to the right hammons looking to pass again he got him again scrambling to his right looking got him in the corner he's got patel in the end zone and there's a late flag ball's incomplete roughing the pass that's the sideline judge on the opposite side of the field throws that flag let's see what the call is here another ineligible this is crazy i'm not sure i've seen a game with so many eligible men down the field they'll decline that penalty [Music] fourth and 11.
