on the camera tonight is ashlynn bergman after tonight's game believe it or not we'll be one third of the way through the regular season believe it or not it seems like we just started but we're already way towards the end of the season as last time here at stafford field we are on some restrictions there will be 250 fans per side social distancing will be required and masks are required as well well usually i give you a history lesson at about this point but for one of these two teams they have no history that's right elkhart high school or as they call it now elkhart community high school was consolidated this year in fall 2020 so they have exactly one game in their entire high school history so of course there is no history of this all-time series this is the first time these two schools will be meeting elkhart consolidated is consisted of elkhart memorial and elkhart central those two schools combine to form what we now know as the elkhart community lions elkhart is in the northern indiana conference which includes the perennial power pin they are a contender in 6a football seemingly every year and they'll be playing them within the next couple of weeks their first game this year and their first game in school history was a victory against mishawaka 35 to 28.
so this game against columbus east will be their second of the season if you've heard the name josh shattuck before as an east fan we can't blame you he was a head coach at seymour high school for four years before coming to elkhart central and this year he took over the job in the combined high school at elkhart community although he's only coached for seven years before this season josh has really showed that he is a great head coach he took seymour from his first year from 0-10 to 8-4 in four years and he's done a similar thing at elkhart central going from four to six to nine and three in three years so in this short amount of time he has showed that he can really turn around two programs in such a short amount of time so a lot of respect shown from both sides the tenured veteran coach bob gaddis and the newcomer but already proven coach josh attic for elkhart east is ranked number 12 in 6a meanwhile elkhart comes in at number 24 in 6a of course the limited uh playing schedule so far makes these schedules and rankings sort of predictive but still showing at least something compared to these two teams if you're an east fan you're i'm sure you're well aware columbus snapped a four-game skid against columbus north last week in an absolute thriller in the last seconds against columbus north 35-31 was the final at columbus north crais bergman scored a last-second touchdown to take the lead it was a heart-pounding finish and it went all the way down to the last play but the olympians finally were able to put away the north bulldogs 35-31 some injuries tonight columbus seas not in not immune to the injury bug of course they have three players out tonight two of which are starters on the defense chase harrison who had a great game off the edge for the defense last week is out with a concussion jesse miller their starting offensive lineman is also out with a leg injury and devin cox their two-way player on defense and offense is out with an ankle injury so some key starters missing tonight for the olympians on both sides of the ball now if you're coming tonight to expect east's first conference game you may be a little surprised to see they're not playing a conference game last year the hoosier hills conference decided east needs to skip a conference game due to their dominance in the conference they've won over 90 straight regular season games against conference opponents so east decided last year they were going to add some tough opponents last year they played their first out-of-state game in school history against pickerington a school from ohio and was very close to defeating the pickerington so they didn't have to skip school that much today but still a long drive to go for a football team to get off the bus and say hey boys go play for 48 minutes in a football game next year columbus east will be going to elkhart so they'll have to make the equally long trek of four hours up to elkhart next year some keys to the game tonight last time we were on air we talked about the run game whiteland tried to keep the ball on the ground but tonight we may see a lot more action in the passing game elkhart has a wide receiver committed to play at western michigan in the mid-american conference so they may be putting the ball in the air a lot more tonight and on the other side of the ball elkhart has a defensive end committed to go to penn state a big ten school i'm sure you were well so past protection for the olympians is key number one tonight keep rodney mcgraw the defensive end committed to penn state away from malachi parks tonight so he can get some passes off that was well improved from week one to week two as he showed last week against columbus north and number two as i mentioned earlier you got to work on the passing game last week columbus north got some big plays up in the air and tonight it's going to be an even tougher challenge so the past defense will have to improve for the olympians and number three if you're a coach gaddis fan you may not like this but penalties have been a big achilles tendon for the columbus football team this year a lot of big plays wiped out a lot of defensive series extended due to penalties so the olympian's going to have to work on that this week against elkhart right now we're showing the starters coming out for the olympians we're going to get you that here in a second tonight the columbus east olympians announcing their offensive starters and we'll give them the same names right now at the wide receivers number 88 charles clay camp and number 22 trey neal both seniors at tight end number 42 xander brotsman who had a few catches last week against columbus north and a big contributor in the blocking and the passing game the offensive line a little shook up from last week jesse miller out of course and ashton hartwell matt hutchison maxwell padre hunter nicholson and josh ludaki in the back field number seven tris villero and number 24 mark mcdonald and at qb number two malachi parks those are the starters for olympians offense and now it's time for the national made anthem by those who have fought and continue to fight for the dreams and it looks like they're going to be let out by number nine cameron wiltfong a 511 senior 175 pounds he'll be joined in the backfield by number two derek woods a 511 senior looks like they'll be more in a spread looks like they got three wide receivers out in the formation and before a play can get off there's an official's timeout looks like the officials are making an equipment check here referees making sure all the official rules are followed uniform wise i believe they're making the right guard number 74. uh zanus dylan had a tuck in his shirt there quickly so now looks like we're ready to play some football first play three wide receivers running back back deep in the backfield they give it to number two off the left side and he is hit hard on the left side just across the 40 yard line by number six tyrell bowers the transfer from louisiana new orleans he played jv last year making the jump to varsity this year making the first tackle of the game against number two derek woods so a gain of two maybe make it three so be second and seven for the lions calling out the signals at the line of scrimmage they fake it they pass it out to number four daniel higgins spinning his way across midfield and wrapped up by number 32 elliott cootman but not before a lions first down at the olympian 44 yard line so lions moving quickly into olympian territory to start this game and wasting no time with a huddle they're lined up and ready to go waiting for the play call a short throw by cameron wilfong there the lions are already rolling they send the tight end in motion back to the right side they're gonna fake it once again and fire it out right incomplete intended for number one tyreene mason the 6-1 senior a little low on the pass coverage buzz by bowers it'll be second and ten for the lions haven't seen a huddle yet from this lions offense that may be their theme qb gets the call and gives it to the line of scrimmage and then they take the snap they're going to give it up the middle this time and he is met by a wall of orange jerseys wrapped up around the line of scrimmage there is a flag down that was woods on the carry a face mask called on the olympians so one of those hands that ran into that wall must have gotten a hold of that face mask so a free 15 yards given up by the olympians defense we talk about a pregame penalties have been a huge achilles tendon for this olympians team and right away a huge penalty to start this first drive what looked like it was gonna be third and ten from the 40-yard line turns into first and ten inside the 30.
but either way the lion's now in striking distance a first down away from being inside the red zone olympian sending defenders scrambling on the right side they send a man in motion they give it up the middle it's woods barreling his way up the middle out to the 25 yard line right on it that's gonna be four yards by the run by derrick woods so the lions have second and six looks like they've added an extra tight end he'll line up in the short slot tight formation here they send a man in motion they're going to fake it to him it's going to be a keep up the middle and he is wrapped up in the backfield it's tj barkheimer who's been making plays in the backfield all season for this defense making a play there on second down that keep was by the quarterback cameron wilfong they tried to get some eye candy sending the man in motion but the keeper didn't fool barkhammer so it's no gain on the play he got back to the line of scrimmage so it'll be third and six for this lions offense four wide receivers in the formation running back to the right they take the snap looking left it is caught that is number 26 on the catch pushed out of bounds by number 33 parker harrison that is donovan johnson the junior 6-1 on the left side making a catch so a quick throw on the snap and a first down for the lions once again no huddle for this lions offense getting the signal and getting the play out quick lions have two tight wide receivers to the right sending a man in motion once again they give it to woods off the right side he's got room in the end zone touchdown lions just got inside that front right pylon and the elkhart lions strike on their first drive of the game got the edge block knocked down an olympian defender and it was to the house on the run by derrick woods so just like that at six nothing with an extra point pending looks like it's number 10 kicking the extra point rodney gates a 6-1 sophomore his kick is high and it is good so the lion's starting off hot here on offense seven nothing here with 9 16 left to go in the first quarter we'll take a quick break we'll be right back here at staffordshire [Music] me [Music] we're back here at stafford field the lions got the ball first and they took advantage of it ran about a little more than three minutes off the clock actually make it less than three minutes and they roll down the field and stroke first here at stafford field seven nothing lions as they kick it to the olympians it's recovered by the olympians had a knee on the ground when he recovered it and the olympians will start with their backs to the end zone at the 15-yard line a hefty mistake on the return and it stopped before it even started so the olympians led by malachi parks who had a fantastic game last week against north neck next to him is mark mcdonald who struggled with injuries the first two games he gets the handoff to start off here barrels his way four just short of the 20-yard line i talked to some olympian football players they told me mark has been struggling with some severe cramps the last two games he started off hot in the first half but just can't stay on the field to none of his fault though cramps can be a very painful injury if not treated right there and there sometimes you just can't play on it despite how much you want to and he gets the handoff there again it's going to be right at the marker and they're going to give it to them so mcdonald's starting off hot here with the first two carries and they bring in villero who's been a great spill for mcdonald when he's been out play the entirety of the second half at running back last week and he'll come in at kind of a tight end spot here the olympians fake the handoff roll out right park's looking to throw he's going to take it runs out of bounds at the 30-yard line so a nice gain on first down by parks looked like it was going to be a throw but had greener grass in front of him to just keep it for himself so picking up half of ten yards between second and five on the run by parks moving fast like they have all year parks gives it to mcdonald picking his way through the holes and he's got it out across the first down marker out towards the 38 yard line and the olympians moving fast here on offense once again trying to max the lions pace and they have done that so far three wide receivers in the formation mcdonald's to the left of powerx they're going to give it to mcdonald he's got a gaping hole right up the middle he's got one man to beat running across the 20 across the 15 10-5 end zone touchdown olympians mark mcdonald a wide open hole i'm not sure if that was the fault of the defense or a great blocking job by the offensive line but nonetheless a 60-yard gamper to the house by mark mcdonald visions of last week at columbus north when he broke off two big touchdown runs and he gets his first tonight very good to see him back on the field after he's been struggling with those cramps as i mentioned as hedrick up on the extra point and it is good so just like that the olympians match the lions a touchdown on their opening drive so we're all knotted here at seven with 7 51 left to go in the first ground it was recovered by number eight devon to colby so the olympians right back on the field after just scoring as they send bergwin emotion to the right side he gets the hand off trying to find the edge but he's not gonna find it wrapped up in the backfield by number three vinnie ambrose the 510 senior bergman tried to find a hole to run through but he found none so the olympians start off the drive with a negative play second and 12.
still in lions territory hard count by parks and that's going to be a free five yards given by this lion defense looked like almost every defensive lineman jumped on that hard count looks like the olympians offense was well prepared for that though so instead of second and 12 make it second and seven a much better start on this second down play they give it to mcdonald off the left side cuts it back up the middle and he's got a first down just across the 35-yard line and well into lyon territory so mcdonald looking strong to start this ball game as the olympians rack off another first down seven minutes dwindling now all tied here at seven after the kickoff fumble by the lions parks keeps it off the left side he breaks free across the 30-yard line out just to the 29. olympians moving fast here as the ball is on the left hash make it a halfway run second and five they're going to give it to mcdonald off the right side and he barrels his way across the 25.

but they're going to go for it well inside lions territory they fire to the left side to clay camp and he is hit hard by number 18. that's dejeron lewis the six foot senior ending that drive for the olympians well thrown ball to clay camp but no room to run so a turnover on downs and the lions after giving up the ball in the kickoff fumble get the ball right back here at their own 23-yard line so a good stand by the lions defense after they got gashed on the first drive so the lions offense now able to get their second drive underway we're waiting on the officials to get the game ready 4 44 left to go in the first quarter as they send a man in motion they fake it to him they're looking to throw on the right side wide open it's woods on the catch out across midfield across the 45 wrapped up by number 23 kai stidham the senior linebacker and if your linebacker's making tackles well into the secondary that's not a good sign so a first down on a big chunk play by the lions and they're into olympians territory on one play quick pitch to the right side not quick enough wrapped up in the backfield by number 37 and number 52.
let me get those names real quick number 37 chase zappy and number 52 jayden durnill zaffier sophomore and durnil a junior both combining to make that tackle so after a big chunk play by the lions on the first play a loss of a couple on the second play second and 12 for the lions a fake screen they're gonna fire it deep they got a man wide open and he drops it that was going to be six if he had just held on to it looks like bowers in coverage got a step behind it was number one on the intended receiver that is number one tyron mason the 6-1 senior if he would have head on to that ball that would have been an easy six but luckily for the olympians it is a drop ball and instead of six on the board it's third and twelve officials call time looks like a lion player has to fix his knee pad there i believe that was the man who just dropped the ball mason may have scuffed up his pants there on the route we're back and ready to go so third and 12 for the lions four wide receivers in the set looking to throw fires left it's going to be short of his intended receiver on the far side tyler thompson on the coverage looked like the receiver number 28 that is amarion johnson looked like he slipped on the turf on the far side but i don't think he was going to get that one even if he didn't slip that ball was thrown well short so fourth and 12 for the lions a quick turnaround after a huge play on first down go four straight downs end up going backwards as they punted away here for the first time ball skips out of bounds around the 20-yard line just a little short at the 22.
so the olympians defense after looking like they were going to get gashed make a big stand in their own territory and force a punt to give the ball back to the olympians 3 36 to go in the first quarter we're going to keep it here as olympians already on the field mcdonald back in the game and villarreal as well he'll stick in that wing tied in position as he's played most of this game when he's not at running back looks like the olympians coaching staff want to keep villarreal on the field however they can as they give it to mcdonald off the right side barrels his way towards the 25-yard line for a gain of three as villarreal will check out the game in comes chris bergman who got sacked on the fourth down trick play they tried to run the philly special last drive to get the first down but burglar was clobbered in the backfield but he'll come back in at wide receiver probably his more natural position as mcdonald gets to carry up the middle and he is stuffed up maybe a yard on the carry but he ran into a mountain of white jerseys led by the penn state commit up front that is number 99 rodney mcgraw 6-6 senior 250 pounds almost like playing against a grown man in high school with the olympians defense hasn't let him shine that much so far as maokai parks rolls out right and he is sacked by the man we just talked about rodney mcgraw parks trying to get it off on the right side mcgraw's arms very long wrapped up parks in an instant and snatched them down to the turf so that was a loss of about six yards on the sack and parks will move back a little more than his usual spot back to the punter position parks was booming it last week at max andrews field in the north game he was almost out kicking his coverage as i talked to some east players and once again another boot this one recovered by number two woods and he's got room out across midfield and just short of the 40-yard line and the lions almost starting where they left off last drive as harrison limping back towards the huddle we hope he's okay he's a leader on this olympians defense and he's struggling to get around right now a penalty was down the field but they're going to wave it off so we'll never know what that's about but harrison limps off to the sideline and the olympians defense are going to have to make up for his presence some way or another trying to see they subbed in for him barkheimer and stidham the other inside linebackers we'll see here in a bit as the lions spread out linebackers in less men demand in a spread defense but still harrison a major contributor however you spin it as first down play incomplete they try to run the screen route to number 12 i believe jacob holt on the edge at 510 senior ball was a little in front of him had no real chance to catch that one second and ten right away for the lions staying spread they fake the hand off and give it out to the edge it's number one tyree mason as he spins his way out across the first down marker and in just short of the red zone at the 25 yard line so the lions move quick on second down and get the first down and more just short of the 25 yard line and the lions looking like they're ready to strike has been the theme the rest of the game lions not huddling up they take the play from the sideline quarterback wilt fong gives it to the line of scrimmage and they roll they send a tight end in motion they fake the hand off fire to the left side it's marin again running his way across the first down marker broke a tackle on the original catch across the 15-yard line looks like at the 12s where they're gonna mark it push out of bounds standing up and so it looked like it was going to be a 5-yard gain turns into a 12-yard gain and a first down for the lions inside the red zone that was mason on the catch on the left side not marin as they give it to woods up the middle he's going nowhere wrapped up by a host of olympians defensive lineman looks like it was durnell in there once again so second and 12 for the lions after a big two plays previously and the lions moving quick once again looks like pressure off the edge they get it off quick and it's incomplete intended for donye higgins the number four 6-1 junior so an incompletion gives it third and 12.
so the lions missed the mark on two straight plays and they're in a rut on third down maybe looking to the sideline a bit longer than usual this time as they want to make sure they get a good play in here on third and long olympians defense scrambling before the snap as a fake screen fires it over the middle it's caught and a touchdown for the lions [Applause] number 26 donovan johnson on the catch a sixth one junior and the lions strike on third and 12 in the end zone and retake the lead here at stafford field with just under a minute to go in the first quarter the extra point is up and it is good so with 37 seconds left to go in the first quarter the lions retake the lead as we go to a quick break here at staffordshire [Music] [Applause] [Music] so [Music] and overhead doors south central indiana we thank you to all of our generous contributors for tonight's live stream as we're back to action here at stafford field trey neal on the return spinning his way across the 40-yard line and out to the 42 so the olympians have pretty good field position to start this drive first and 10 at their own 42.

that was trent henry in the backfield the six foot senior making a big play on first down and putting the lions right on the goal line just at the two yard line so the lion's in safety territory they're gonna have to start considering that for their play calls second and 14 as the lions in spread formation still they're gonna throw it to the right left side it's caught lots of space wrapped up by tyler thompson another catch by number 26. he's been making a lot of catches today it's donovan johnson he caught the touchdown pass last drive and is moving the chains on this drive so a first down pass when it looked like they were right at the goal line and the lion's moving the ball here to start the drive three wide receivers in the formation as they send the tight end of motion they fake the handoff fires left side it's number one tyron mason as he makes a considerable chunk out of that he's got eight yards so this lions offense loves the throat of football as we mentioned in the pregame they're going to want to throw the football to their star athletes on the outside the olympians secondary struggling to contain so far as the lions moving quick to the line of scrimmage once again second and short they're gonna hand it up the middle it's woods bouncing it left stiff arms a defender and goes out bounds just short of the 30.
it'll be just across the first down marker so give the lions another first down and from what started at the six yard line move back to the two on the first down loss and a couple plays later they're out of cro out outside their own red zone and in a comfortable position as they give it to woods and he's going to throw it down the field just long intended for donovan johnson who's been making a big impact so far in this game usually getting the ball from wiltfong but this time the lions coaching staff try to get a little tricky that one the execution was a little better than the east strick play they at least got that one off but still the same result incomplete it'll be second and ten for the lions as wilt fong takes the snap fires long he is wide open down the field and this is going to be a lions touchdown as mason celebrates as he goes into the end zone [Applause] so the lions strike long on second down and the lines extend their lead to two [Music] possessions as the lions continue their air attack here so far in the beginning part of this ball game as the extra point snap is down and the extra point is good so 8 40 left to go in the second quarter elkhart community takes a two possession lead 21-7 over the olympians we'll be right back here to stafford field with more second quarter action truly support and get behind it to be committed and invested in making sure it succeeds and grows at first financial bank we go beyond banking providing resources for dreams that matter and giving back to projects that make a difference as our family grows our commitment to serve the community grows with it first financial bank because together we're better we're back here at stafford field as a kickoff underway after the lions strike long on a touchdown pass to tyron mason as the kick is underway and is going to be skipped into the end zone we saw that quite a bit last week against columbus north but the first touchback in this ball game is achieved by the lions so the olympians will start at their own 20-yard line first and ten so the o's offense looking to go back to their scoring ways as their first drive so far that's their only scoring drive of the game has three wide receivers in the formation parks takes the snap gives it to mcdonald off the right side barreling his way off tacklers and across the 22.
so a couple yards on the run more impressive than the yardage marker may show had to break off some tackles first to even get across the line of scrimmage so mcdonald as i mentioned just glad to see him on the field he's been struggling with injuries the past couple games as parks tries to get the hard count and he keeps himself off the left side wrapped up just short of the 30 yard line and it's going to be just short of the first down marker for my eyes to see me it looked like he was going to be a yard short of the marker but they go ahead and send it forward the oats fans will take that to get this offense started so a first down to start the drive on the parks run as they move quick and give it to mcdonald cutting it back up the middle for three yards it's mcdonald's turning out any yards he can once again and they'll give it to him again spinning off tackles as it goes off the left side across the 35 and at the 36.
another three yard gain it'll make it third and four for the o's offense so a big third down here on the second chain theos need this first down and they're gonna get it thanks in part to the lions defense it's gonna be the second encroachment called in this game by the lions and a free first down so a big play here early in the ball game olympians needed that first down to give the defense a break and they're going to get it free of charge from this lions defense as parks looks to throw fakes the screen fires long just short of clay camp he had a step on his defender but the pass goes just a yard too long it looked like clay clay may have stumbled coming out of the front of that route that may have thrown off the timing a little bit as the olympians bring out an extra receiver for this second down play they're gonna fake it to mcdonald off the left side goes parks tripped up just short of midfield but still a good gain give him seven yards it'll be much more manageable third down play had lots of room off the left side on the fake to mcdonald that just shows the respect mcdonald's earned so far early in this game the defensive line has to respect that hand off mcdonald and parks is going to get a lot of room to run as he takes it on the pass for third down and he gets it complete chris bergman his first catch of the day he was you could call the hero of last game against columbus north scoring the game-winning touchdown in the last seconds making his first catch of the day and it's a big one first down for the olympians on third down and they're churning their way across the lions territory as they give it to mcdonald off the left side and he is thrown down at the line of scrimmage may have gotten a yard it looks like has the foot of the official on the far side on the 40-yard line mcdonald's fought in his way to keep up but a lot of white jerseys in the area not a lot he can do they're going to give him a yard here as they fake the handoff parks looking to throw wheel route mcdonald wide open has to break a man miss can't quite get around him as he's wrapped up by a helping defender number 18.
that is dejeron lewis as mcdonald was wide open off the left side on the play action so a big chunk play to mcdonald in the passing game as there's a timeout called on the field didn't quite see who called that one it looks like based on the scoreboard they gave the timeout to elkhart [Music] we're back here at stafford field mark mcdonnell making a contribution in the passing game before we left a huge pass play across the 15-yard line in the olympians in red zone territory on the first down run they give it to villarreal diving his way to the 10 yard line a good chunk on first down they're gonna give him four so second and six here as the olympians move fast up to the line of scrimmage parks takes the snap they give it to villarreal once again this time he's going nowhere wrapped up in the backfield ran into a host of white jerseys big number 65 looked like he got the first contact that's number 65 jalen holmes 6-1 senior 260 pounds so a lot of might and force bringing down the villarreal on that tackle so make it third and eight now as the olympians have to strike on first to get a first down [Applause] olympians may have gotten away with an illegal formation there they're going to take it they give it to bergman as they fumble the football holy cow elkhart fans here on the knee side saw that one the same way we did as the olympians may have gotten away with an illegal motion officials discussing a flag on the near side towards the goal line a lot happening on that play olympians may have gotten away with the legal formation there they got the play complete to chris bergman looked like he had the first down the ball was fumbled out of bounds but then a flag was thrown that might have been a makeup for the missed call if that's the case it may have done more harm to the olympians as the holding is a 10-yard penalty rather than the illegal motion for five yards so after all that the fumble the penalty and the extra penalty it's gonna remain third and eight the olympians want to call a timeout to talk this one over we'll be right back here at stafford field 432 to go in the second quarter we're back at stamford field a lot happening on that last play but after all of that it's gonna remain at the same place we started third and eight they're gonna get it off and parks is wrapped up in the backboard [Applause] this elkhart defensive line getting in the backfield once again and parks is wrapped up ball is going to be moved back to the 20-yard line we'll see what they want to do here on fourth down and long some may be thinking the kick here but this may be a little bit of a hedrick's range so they're going to have to throw it long here or make something happen on the ground as parks will drop back looking to throw and he's not going to get a chance [Applause] rodney maguire [Music] number 99 rodney mcgraw another sack in this ball game parks hasn't had a lot of time to get the ball off and on that fourth down no exception [Music] so the lions defense makes a tough stand inside their own red zone and gives the ball back to the lions offense 3 50 to go in the first half as the lions looking to add on to their lead to end the half they're going to fake the handoff look long he's got a man down the sideline it is caught across the 35-yard line [Applause] tyron mason once again making the catch he caught the touchdown pass to end last drive and starting off this drive with a bang as the lions may have found their secret recipe just throwing it along up to one of their two receivers and letting them make plays has this olympians defense reeling the last couple drives giving up big play after big play we'll see if the lions want to keep it in the air or try to throw a run in there as they'll get on the ground it's woods off the left side he's got room across the 20 they're going to say he stepped out just short of the 20 yard line [Applause] it'll be another lions first down as this line's offense can do whatever they want seemingly right now throw it deep get some big plays put it on the ground and get another first down his lines moving quickly once again as they have all game at the 21 they faked the handoff run the reverse they have blockers up front and he's going to dive towards the pylon gonna be just short marked at the half yard line that was number 12 on the reverse jacob holt the senior wide receiver got the handoff and it fooled the olympians defense looked like it may have weaved his way into the end zone but the o's defense dropped him just short has time ticking just below three minutes now as the olympians and excuse me the lions in no rush to get this snap off lions offense has a bevy of options here to run on first and goal as the lions are going to want to choose one of those plays they're going to take a timeout here with 2 37 to go in the first half we'll be right back here stafford field after a quick break and we're back here at stafford field the lions first and goal at the half yard line they're going to give it up the middle to woods and he's in another touchdown for the lions as they add on to their lead here 26-7 as it stands now with the extra point coming the lions offense has been unstoppable the past couple drives throwing the ball along to their wide receivers and pounding up the middle with their running back woods as the extra point is up and it is good 2 32 to go in the first half the lions up big 27-7 over the olympians we'll be right back to stafford field here after this quick break we're back at stafford field the lions offense in full gear to start this first half as they have jumped right over the olympians 27-7 here as we're winding down to the end of the first half as a surprise onside kick almost lost by the olympians but just barely jumped on at the end like number 38 jumped on that one for the olympians that is number 38 grant cooper the senior almost looked like he was going to run back for that kickoff and just in the corner of his eye saw that onside kick bounced off his chest but luckily was able to jump on it before the lions as the o's offense out quick running left fires left incomplete i believe that ball got tipped at the line of scrimmage was intended for number 42 zainer brotsman those long arms and big men on the defensive line for this lions defense making an impact all first half and once again showing why they're impacting this game as they get a deflection on the maokai park's pass second down they run a draw play it's mcdonald off the left side juking defenders and out across the first down marker so the olympians can move the chains on second down macdonald making an impact on the ground this game that's really been the only way the olympians can move the ball so far as they move quick it's a keeper by parks runs into that defensive line and is wrapped up maybe a yard across the original line of scrimmage olympians moving very quick now as the elkhart lions try to run a player off looked like that was the 12th player lions coach gets a quick timeout here before they call a 12 min on the field penalty so now the lion's out of timeouts the olympians have one timeout 156 to go in the first half the olympians moving quickly 27-7 we'll be right back here at stafford field back at stafford field second and nine after malachi park's keeper they give it to mcdonald off the right side and he is wrapped up at the 39-yard line that'll be a gain of five make it four officially third and five on the olympian scoreboard so five yards to gain here on third down as parks looking to throw has to escape the pocket fires deep ball in the air and it's intercepted kicked off by the lion defense number 22 graham ellie [Music] the six foot senior making a big play on defense ball was batted up in the air it was intended for charles clay camp parks had to force one in there ball popped up in the air and was scooped up like a punt by this lion secondary so a gimme interception and the lions offense back on the field looking to extend this lead once again with 122 left to go in the first half but the lions out of timeouts so they'll have to move quickly if they want to get any points on the board as they fake a toss out left wilt fong looking to run gonna be chopped down across the 40 yard line and across the first down marker so that'll stop the clock here while they move the chains 112 left to go in the first half second down pass or excuse me that's first down as wilfong just got the first down run that pass was intended for martin as soon as mason on the left side pass went high but it stops the clock at exactly one minute to go so the lions have time to go over the play wilt fong in the shotgun four wide receivers as they split out the running back woods to the left side so when empty set five wide receivers wilt fong fires left ball through the hands of mason so mason drops that second down pass it'll be third and ten for the lions offense 55 seconds to go so on the incompletion the clock stops once again so the lions have quick time to decide what they want to do here on third and long ford wide receivers once again as they split out woods to the right side so five wide receivers four of them to the far side as will fong draw play looking to run up the middle trying to spin his way out to the first down but well short and he'll be marked down at the 48 make it 47 and a half yard line as the olympians call a quick timeout with 46 seconds to go so now both teams out of timeouts as an impending punt upcoming here most likely barring any risky play by the elkhart coaching staff coming up here at halftime is the halftime show presented by columbus wealth but we still got lots of football action to go here with 46 seconds to go as a punt most likely looming here for the lions offense so maybe a little bit of momentum for the olympians defense going into the second half as they're finally able to make a stop here on this lions offense punter is out in punting formation mcdonald back deep to return for the olympians which most likely signals that parker harrison is not going to come back in this ball game at least anytime soon he is a normal returner for this olympians defense but macdonald in there now gonna fair catch the ball at the 19-yard line the olympians brought the house to try to block that one but couldn't quite get to it so let's see if the olympians want to get aggressive here with no timeouts 40.6 seconds to go as they're going to come out with four wide receivers so we'll see if they just want to run the ball to go into the halftime break or they're going to try to get some extra points on the board the olympians do get the ball to start the second half so it looks like they'll stay conservative keep it on the ground at mcdonald's good gain out to cross the 25 to the 26.
gonna be short of a first down so the clock still running as parks will keep it off the left side quite a bit of room but for a good reason the lions defense playing well back just trying not to give up the long ball has no timeouts for the olympians the first down will stop the clock for a moment but still running now with 10 seconds to go parks runs a screen out to the left side it's clay camp who's going to stay on his feet and fall forward but he's going to stay in bounds and that'll do it for the first half so the score 27-7 lions lead here against the columbus east olympians upcoming added a game against the defending 5a state champion new palestine dragons that was a late addition to the jv schedule originally they were going to play no game but they added new palestine today and they'll be going up to new palestine at 10 a.m tomorrow and next week they'll be playing jeffersonville but that game was originally supposed to be at jeffersonville due to construction being done at the high school at jeffersonville on the field that game has been moved to columbus east so we'll be with you next week here as the olympians face the red devils we're very happy to share that news right now as that was changed today as well we see here the elkhart lions come on to the field for their halftime warm-ups the olympians standing outside the door of their locker room looking like they're about to come out as well so we're going to take a quick break here as the players warm up for the second half back at stafford field here in a moment and we're back here to start the second half at stafford field as the lions preparing to kick it away the olympians deferred the first half kickoff and elected to receive it in the second and they're going to have to get going early here down by 20 to start the half as the lions booted away fielded by villarreal just short of the 25.
a little scramble after he dropped it at first but he makes his way out across the 30 and just short of the 35. that's where the olympians will start their first drive of the second half first and ten at the 34. mcdonald's still on the field able to make it to the second half for the first time this season very glad for him to finally be able to put a full game together so far as the first snap is a keeper by parks moving his way across the 40 and out to the 41-yard line a nice gain on first down by the keeper i parks as it looks like the olympians are going to want to move fast and i assume they'll do that the rest of the second half because they have to come put a considerable amount of points on the board to get back in this ball game as they give it to mcdonald on second down and he's just about at the line of scrimmage maybe got a half yard has a quick third down here for the olympians offense they're going to bring villarreal in to the left of parks with mcdonald to the right one red receiver to the near side they'll give it to mcdonald off the left side he's got a lot of room across the first down marker just short of midfield run out of bounds by number 18 dejean lewis but not before mark madonna gets his first down of the second half so a big third down conversion for the olympians to stay on the field to start the second half and they're looking to get into lyon territory as parks keeps it off the left side making his way right at the midfield as he's pushed out of bounds by number three by alliance vinnie ambrose so three yards give it four actually second and six for the olympians right at the midfield stripe with the nose of the ball on that orange line three wide receivers in the set parks keeps it fires it back left it's mcdonald trying to break a tackle wrapped up but got his way to the first down marker so the olympians move the chains again it's mcdonald but this time in the passing game rather than and the running game so two straight first stands to start the drive and the olympians in the lyon territory as parks gives it up the middle to mcdonald and he falls forward for a yard getting up from the bottom of that pile for the lions number 58.
that's javen lowe not sure if he made the tackle but he was in towards the bottom of that pile second and nine for the olympians parks looking to throw pump fakes left looking right ball is incomplete a lot of contact on the near side may have been called pi pass interference but the officials let the wide receiver trey kneel and number 11 for the lions michael eckerton they let them play it out so an incomplete pass it's third and nine for the olympians as parks takes the snap steps up right away looking to throw right side he's got up house to the right and it's incomplete just overshot his receiver up house the sophomore played quarterback for the freshman team last year but the incompletion brings up fourth down and the olympians will have to punt inside lyon territory as the lions take a timeout early in the second half looks like they couldn't get a 12th guy off the field once again that happened in the first half and the lions had to burn their last timeout this time here early in the second half they're gonna have to burn their first timeout but we'll keep it here as the olympians look like they want to get on the field once again so the first half the lions offense moved with ease through the air and through the ground wilt fong was airing it out long to his two receivers tyron mason and number 26 donovan johnson those two combined for several past catches and several hundred yards of receiving in the first half including two long touchdown pass catches by tyra mason so the lions offense was able to move with ease in the first half and a punt here to start off the second half for the olympians as a great bounce by the olympians punter malachi parks puts it all the way at the 2 yard line so far this game malachi parks has been a great punter that's the second time this game he's pinned the lions offense inside the 10-yard line last time that happened though the lion struck a few plays later for a touchdown pass so will it affect the lions offense this time we'll find out as an update to a first half injury parker harrison came off the field early in the first half he is not out on the field the second half so we're going to assume he's out with the rest of the game as a pass complete to the near side it's donovan johnson the ball came out they're gonna say if he was down it looked like he was still in the air when the ball popped out the officials gonna talk about this one this may be a big play the pass was good enough for a first down but if this is a fumble in recovery by the olympians then the ogs are going to be in great territory to start their next drive officials a big decision to make here three officials at standing at the 14-yard line gonna make the call here they're going to keep it with elkhart from first glance up in the booth it looked like the ball came out well before he landed on the ground [Music] but they're going to keep it with elkhart it'll be enough for a first down so the lions move the ball chains early here in the second half on the first play coach goddess wants a word with the officials on the far side i think he wanted to turn over there and it certainly would have been a big play in this ball game but not to be the lions moving the ball early and looking to continue on the first half success with the ball as they run reverse to the left side it's tyron mason he's got lots of room breaking free out across midfield and he's not going to be caught across the 20 across the tin and he's going to score a touchdown [Music] 80 plus yards on the run by tyron mason on the reverse that worked in the first half almost the same play this time going 80 plus yards to the house broke a tackle around the 40 and it was all a foot race after that so the lions extend their lead 33-7 as we're just getting the second half underway extra point is up and it is good and the lions all over the olympians so far 34-7 with nine minutes to go in the third quarter we'll be right back lions go 80 plus yards on one play and extend the lead to 34-7 another fumble on the kickoff return [Music] the second time this half the kickoff has been fumbled and once again the olympians recover silly olympians coming off sloppy [Music] to start off the second half in the kickoff coverage so the olympians will start at their own 27-yard line as parks in the shotgun with three wide receivers mcdonald to the left parks is going to keep it off the left side barreling his way across the 30 out to the 32 yard line picking up half the 10 yards he needs it's gonna be second and five for the o's deal is bringing an extra tight end so two wide receivers in the set they're gonna give it to mcdonald turns it up the middle barreling his way out towards the 35-yard line so he'll pick up half of the yardage needed left and it'll be third and two for the o's a big third down here if the o's can't pick this up i would assume they're gonna go for it nonetheless as a keeper by parks he's got lots of room out across the 40-yard line near the 45 as a late flag back in the secondary thrown by the back official some in the booth here pondering a face mask perhaps that flag was thrown almost after the play was done and it will be a face mask called on elkhart so that'll move the ball 15 yards and into elkhart territory while i stand correctly they're gonna call it a five yard face mask in high school there are two face mask penalties one a personal foul and one a five yard penalty so they're gonna call it the five yard variety so instead of being elkhart territory they'll be just short of the midfield stripe as parks keeps it up the middle and now they're in elkhart territory but it takes an extra down to get there park's got three on the carry and it'll be second and seven moving fast here as they have to get a lot of points on the board parks rolling left fires it is incomplete almost in the hands of an elkhart defender that was number 88 almost got in the interception roderick ballard dove on the field to get that ball but couldn't quite hang on so the ball remains with the olympians third and seven o's needing a big play to get the first down protection good fires long it is incomplete but a flag down ball was in the double coverage intended for chris bergman the officials see a jersey pool perhaps and it's going to be a pass interference on elkhart so move the ball up 15 yards and it's gonna be an olympian first down so the o's get a big break on third down and move the chains on the penalty as they give it to mcdonald off the left side he's got room cut it up the middle he's going to score touchdown olympians mark mcdonald a 30 plus yard run and the olympians able to get some points on the board here in the second half still well outside of the range to tie it up in the game but you gotta start somewhere one play at a time and that right there cuts it from a four possession here to a three possession game as hedra gets the extra point to go and so the lead is cut from 27-20 34-14 elkhart lead said they'll get the wall back when we come back here at stafford field [Music] um [Music] we're back at stafford field the olympians able to cut into that elkhart lead as the kickoff goes short ball still on the ground picked up by the lions it's number five on the recovery after a moment clayton lundy picked up the football and was able to run out to the 40-yard line official on the far side has his far foot at the 41.
