let's see what we've got to start out this game quarterbacks and shotgun running back to the right hands it off to the right side couple yards three yard gain for the bulldogs in that first play again in shotgun rolling to the right number three throws it oh incomplete intended for number five dejean winburn him right in the hands just went right through third down and seven for the bulldogs simmons in the shotgun two to the right hands it off to number 10 and he's gonna be close to a first down number 10 miles johnson with the carry it's going to move the chains for the bulldogs that's a first down for them simmons in the shotgun two receivers to the right same set so far as the bulldogs on their on their first drive hand off to the running back olympians get their arms around him short gained by the bulldogs number 10 miles johnson again with a carry that'll bring up second and seven for the bulldogs 10 minutes 40 seconds into the first quarter simmons again still in the shotgun hands it off once again number 12 this time keiondre winford and no gain he was met with some resistance from the defensive line up front from the olympians number 37 chase zaffy with the tackle loss of one on the play that'll bring up third and eight for the bulldogs simmons getting the plays from the sideline still have not huddled yet as a team coming up to the line in shotgun one one person in the backfield three receivers this time he throws back on to number one oh what a grab what a grab let's see that was actually number two j ray johnson quite a catch there for the bulldogs [Music] bulldogs hurry up to the line of scrimmage now they get the call from the sideline nine minutes 40 seconds in the first quarter into olympian territory just inside the 35 hands it off and number 10 miles johnson once again gets the carry originally was thinking that dejean winburn would be getting the carries but so far today miles johnson has been getting the bulk of the action in the backfield for the bulldogs darrell simmons once again the shotgun two receivers to the right motion across the field number five quarterback keeper up and he will get the first down for the bulldogs [Applause] first time for darrell simmons to take the ball up the field showed some a little bit of speed there with the legs and some good blocking up front for the bulldogs another first down now on the 20 yard line of the olympians handoff number 10 met at the line of scrimmage no gain well there was one yard gain but not much more second and nine on the olympian 18.
simmons with a call throws it number five complete pass to dejean winburn [Music] third and two for the bulldogs we'll see if they'll i think they're going to be giving this to number 10 miles johnson once again but we'll see what the bulldogs decide to do nope they give the give it to number 12 actually and we'll see if this is gonna be a first down it's pretty close to call he ke'andre winford with the with the run this time good tackle by the olympians there it is a first down on the olympian 11. simmons at quarterback once again miles johnson in the backfield hands it off to johnson and just a few short yards for johnson second in goal now for the bulldogs still simmons and johnson in the backfield simmons oh keeps it himself he's going to run to the right side oh he's hit by a couple olympians there number 33 parker harrison as well as number 59 who do we have there chase harrison as well great tackle by the olympians there third and ten maybe his third and goal excuse me on the olympians five simmons and johnson in the backfield simmons keeps it throws it out to johnson oh oh wow bergman almost had a pick six that he certainly would have taken to the house oh my gosh but great defense good defense there on number nine bergman brings up fourth down for the bulldogs let's see what they choose to do looks like bulldogs are staying on the field they are on the five yard line but wow taking risks early in the game here for the bulldogs [Music] simmons and johnson in the backfield under the gun takes it hands it up oh it's incomplete and turnover on downs for the bulldogs wow risky play calling on this first drive for the bulldogs but man i still cannot believe that bergman did not take that all the way back for a pick six but if i know anything about number nine he will be playing hard all game and i hope that he has an opportunity to to make up for that whether it be on offense or defense we'll see olympians take over on the bulldog six parks under center we've got looks like mark mcdonald and all right carry there by trice villarreal good run to start off the first drive for the olympians got quite the three-headed monster back there with villarreal parks and mcdonald we'll see how the bulldogs react to that tonight this time to mark mcdonald takes it to the left and back cuts it back to the center definitely has a first down the olympians have ran the ball very well this year and uh man i think we're off to a good start already obviously with uh mcdonald and villarreal taking it now we've just got uh we've got mark mcdonald taking the ball now to the right side cutting it back to the left makes quite a move oh man he is making defenders miss and a great run there by number 24 mark mcdonald eight yard gain second and two for the olympians parks once again under center mcdonald's to the right hands it off he definitely got first down going to the second level now he keeps running making people miss great man just another great run by mark mcdonald the senior has got some moves he makes people miss and wow what another great run for mcdonald i know he's had some problems with uh cramps but i am hopeful that he'll be able to play this whole game and he's going to be running just like that first down for the olympians hands it off well he actually kept kept it pow parks first down for sure he definitely fooled me there on that quarterback keeper great run by number two malachi parks has another first down for the olympians that's that three-headed monster that we were talking about you've got parks you've got mcdonald and you've got villarreal and now on this first down i anticipate that we can either run the ball or let's keep him on and see if we can no we're going to go back to the run it's a proven winner and mcdonald has another great six seven yards all day just because i've been able to watch the olympians throughout the year i'm just waiting when are we gonna see parks either break it to the house or make a good throw up this time number seven trice villarreal definitely has a first down another good run by the olympians they've ran the ball every single time i'm just waiting for that end zone throw that i've seen malachi parks do out through the entire season but gaddis continues to run the ball right at the bulldogs and once again to mark mcdonald starts left cuts it back right and he continues on his feet it's going to be close to another first down for the olympians about four minutes left in the first quarter second and two for the olympians oh takes it himself parks has the first down and we are within the 20 of bulldog territory another first down for the olympians just running it up the gut all day the three-headed monster in the back this time goes to mark mcdonald cuts it left then goes to the center around five yards we'll see what he officially picked up ball's on the 10-yard line now second and eight this time gives us number seven twice villarreal runs to the right he's got an open lane [Music] and down definitely has the first down i think well he's close to the first down shouldn't say guaranteed yet very close to the first down olympians hurry up to the line of scrimmage all three in the backfield villarreal it is a first down first down for columbus east villarreal mcdonald parks in the backfield under the gun takes the ball hands it off to mcdonald runs it in and that is an easy touchdown for the olympians the first six on the board for senior mark mcdonald that caps off a great run for the olympians put the six on the board all right for the extra point nathaniel hedrick out on the field and the kick is good that's 7-0 for the olympians we're gonna go ahead and take a break and say thanks to all of our sponsors here let's go ahead and we'll be back in just a second here at stafford field [Music] and we're back here at stafford field on senior night for the columbus east olympians east has taken the lead early with a 7-0 start mark macdonald with a great run hedrick to kick the ball squibber last time that made it a touch back we'll see what he does this time solid kick 12 yard line is caught by the bulldogs running up the gut down to the 30 almost to the 35.
a little better field position this time for the bulldogs but let's see if the olympians can hold them after they learned a little bit more about their offense on the last drive once again thank you to our sponsors especially the two that you see on our screen right now we've got our title sponsor ruoff mortgage who's responsible for so much that we're so thankful for their partnership as well as ovation technology group our scoreboard sponsor we'll tell you more about our sponsors throughout the game but we're especially grateful in this time of covid19 where ticket sales are definitely down because our capacity we need to make sure that we're staying safe and making sure that our community is doing everything it can to do a good job of not spreading covet 19 and thank you to our sponsors handoff comes to oh he's going to take it outside number 12 for the bulldogs keiondre winford keandre is listed as both a quarterback and a db but he has ran the ball twice so we'll see if he uh does if there's any trickery but for right now we're gonna treat him as a solid running back he's running the ball a couple times simmons keeps the ball himself running the left side makes a good juke he definitely has a first down across midfield of the olympians quite a run for the new albany quarterback so far we've seen a balanced approach from the bulldogs uh quite a few different people running the ball as well as simmons has dropped back and made a couple good throws we'll see what simmons does this time and the gun takes the ball hands it off to looks like keiondre and he keeps motoring close to the first down key andre winford with the carry there he was kept running his legs close to a first down second and one simmons fakes the win oh good throw right there definitely has the first down number five takes the ball continues the run outside let's see if the olympians can stop him and they take him finally out of bounds around the 10 yard line dejean winburn with the reception there and the moves for new albany got simmons and winford in the background backfield excuse me simmons oh there's a whistle flag on the play first of the night let's see who it's on and the white hat calls it a false start on new albany first and ten on the ten that'll move them back on a five yard penalty first and 15 now for new albany simmons and winford in the background in the back field man hands it off oh nope ends up throwing i'm not sure if that was a catch or not we'll see catch was complete to j ray johnson quite a play action fake there by simmons all right behind the quarterback to the left hands it off winfor takes it bounces off to the left continues to run oh but he gets hit there let's see who got him for the olympians i'm not sure how that was for the olympians but great tackle there made sure to get winford down as he continued to motor those legs third and goal for new albany on the six simmons and winfred in the backfield oh reverse fumble fumble on the reverse and can't see who got the ball or not it looks like it's gonna remain new albany's ball but close to two turnovers now in the red zone for the bulldogs the olympians they have to take advantage of those opportunities when they have those not sure what they're discussing right now time out on the field from new albany we're going to go ahead and take a break say thanks to our sponsors and we'll be back with you in just a moment looking for a new home well you might need a loan you know applying for a mortgage doesn't have to be so tedious or time consuming introducing loan butler by ruoff home mortgage loan butler makes it easy to apply for a mortgage online by compiling each of your important loan documents into one secure space just a clickity click and before you know it you're home delightful apply online today visit lonebutler.com [Music] back here at stafford field 30 seconds left in the first quarter here on the 15.
saying fourth and goal little surprised once again the bulldogs are going for it simmons and and winford in the backfield motion left simmons takes it pressure on the quarterback and he throws it up and it's a catch oh did he drop it it looks like he might have dropped it winburn is signaling that he dropped it but the referees are calling it a touchdown i wish that we had instant replay unfortunately we don't and the call is gonna stand i'm a little bit surprised especially after number five's reaction wow somebody needs to uh go back on the live stream and check that out and the low liner is good for the bulldogs and it's 7-7 wow what a crazy turn of events fourth and goal quarterback rolls to the right hits a man in the end zone the wide receiver acts like he's upset with himself for missing the catch but somehow the referees signal a touchdown haven't seen that one before folks but uh i guess anything can happen so the olympians will have to respond show some perseverance here and we'll see what happens 22 seconds left in the first quarter for the olympians and the bulldogs that's going to be an interesting one folks senior night here at stafford field let's see how the olympians respond here at the end of this first quarter make sure if you are watching this stream as we continue to grow our audience thank you to everyone who's watching make sure to share this with your friends you know share the youtube stream maybe text put it on facebook twitter however you get your news on social media oh short kick here picked up by number nine chris bergman returns it to the 45 for the olympians and we've got 18 seconds left in the first quarter first and ten for the olympians parks and macdonald in the backfield clay camp to the left i would assume that's bergman on the right let's see what parks can do with 18 seconds left here in the first quarter hands it off to mcdonald goes left cuts it back right near midfield and the clock is going to run out and we're going to be going into our second quarter here at stafford field senior night for the columbus east olympians against the new albany bulldogs thanks for tuning in tonight [Music] we'll be right back after a word from our sponsors if you grew up in columbus you grew up with ovation audio video the ovation technology group is much more the local leader in local it solutions 25 years of keeping companies connected and running efficiently networks and managed services phone systems and temperature control data security and hd thermal imaging grows smart with ovation technology group at ovationtg.com ovationtg.com a proud sponsor of columbus high school sports and we're back here at stafford field as we begin the second quarter the olympians didn't have to move too far they are at midfield as we begin the second quarter going a different direction this time as the sun continues to set here at stafford field it's a beautiful fall night hope that you're enjoying this game whether you're watching outside or maybe somewhere inside make sure to maybe make some s'mores by the fire get something good to eat and a nice beverage to enjoy this east olympians new albany bulldogs game entering the second quarter parks and macdonald in the backfield goes to the left parks is keeping it so far cuts it back right has a first down continues to run motors man and parks is tough to take down great quarterback keeper by malachi park senior here for the olympians another first down well the olympians have definitely responded so far on their comeback drive after a crazy set of events i'm still i still think the uh receiver for new albany is surprised that he's going to get credited with a touchdown but that's neither here nor there three-headed monster in the backfield for the olympians this time goes to mark macdonald cuts it back left and he's got a touchdown another one for 24 senior mark mcdonald he made that one look easy folks six more on the board for the olympians quite a statement for the olympians after that touchdown drive for the bulldogs hedrick with the kick and the kick is good 14-7 olympians over the bulldogs after the touchdown by the bulldogs in about 30 seconds the olympians said we're gonna make a statement you got one on us and we're gonna get another one on you 14 to seven olympians and we've got the whole second quarter in front of us let's see if the olympians can take advantage of you know twice in the red zone for the bulldogs they either fumble the ball or about through an interception the olympians are gonna have to take advantage of those opportunities or not even let them get in the red zone we'll see what they do here on defense hedrick with the kickoff [Music] and here we go hedrick with the kickoff low kick to the left side picked up by the bulldogs 20 the 25 bouncing around and he's going to go down about the 33.
now there is a late flag we'll see what took place at the end of that play let's see what the white house has the white hat has to say face mask on the olympians ooh not a great way to start this drive five yard penalty for the olympians as the bulldogs start their drive so from the 33 to the 38 the bulldogs will get once again good field position as they begin their drive simmons and johnson once again coming out for the bulldogs j ray johnson on the right side simmons keeps it himself quarterback keeper not much there up the middle all the way down [Music] run by number 10 oh miles johnson with a run into olympian territory parker harrison with the saving tackle for the olympians there that was a big first down for the bulldogs see if they can come up with a solution for johnson he's been running the ball well so far for the bulldogs simmons hands it off once again he's got room man another good run for miles johnson kicked to the left last time then this time up the middle see if the olympians can find an answer otherwise we might find ourselves in the same situation as we did last drive simmons hands it off once again this time the olympians stop johnson a couple yards this time on the carry bounce it to the right quite a bit of balance of moving the ball around the field left up the middle to the right making the olympians continue to have to chase a very fast miles johnson simmons under the gun hands it off just a couple yards they continue the bulldogs to ride a hot hand and some quick feet of miles johnson but it's third and six now and if we've learned anything about the bulldogs they continue to be aggressive regardless what the down is actually third and two olympian 14 oh they get him this time this time defensive line stopped johnson it's going to be fourth and two a little confused saying fourth and goal but i believe it's fourth and maybe fourth and short is what the announcer said johnson takes the ball oh and it's going to be close it's going to be really close great defense by the olympians and it is short turnover on downs what a response by the olympians defense man when miles johnson broke out for a 25-30 yard gain earlier i did not see what what we just saw coming but the olympians responded showed some grit and stopped miles johnson on i believe it was three straight runs showed quite a bit of unity as well as determination they stopped the bulldogs and they take over on downs parks gets it we're gonna he's gonna keep himself to the right side oh he's gonna cut back left he's got a first down continues to run oh wow the bulldog did not have oh yeah he did have a helmet on but i'm i'm wondering if that's going to be a face mask by somebody there i saw i saw a flag come in it's going to be a first down but we'll we'll see officials time out maybe but i thought i saw a flag go referees talking out near midfield let's see what we've got unsportsmanlike conduct on the defense for the bulldogs let's see how many yards that's gonna hit the bulldogs for getting can getting conflicting information here but whether it was on the sideline or unsportsmanlike conduct either way it was on the bulldogs and it's gonna be um [Music] i think near a 15-yard penalty we're now on unsportsmanlike conduct on new albany not sure who was on but olympians take over at the 45 into new albany territory hands it off to mcdonald bounces to the left he has been tough to stop on the left but oh there's a flag wondering if it's going to be a block in the back ah have to wait and see there's a flag i think it's going to be going on the olympians holding on columbus east olympians have done a great job so far on offense of staying away from penalties but they're not going to be perfect tonight but hopefully they'll be close spot foul 10-yard penalty let's see where that'll take us i believe it's going to take us to the let's see here the 40 back into olympian territory first and 20.
he's gonna oh he's gonna keep it for himself parks up the middle gets about back to the uh line of scrimmage back for second and ten once again the olympians continue to run the ball the bulldogs have not been able to stop the three-headed monster of trice villarreal mark mcdonald and malachi parks who what happened there there's quite a few flags going was that an offsides there encroachment by the bulldogs i was thinking about that three-headed monster of mcdonald villarreal and parks and the defense was trying to get ready but they were they flinched and second and seven now for the olympians parks on the gun hands it off to mark mcdonald goes up the gut stopped him this time a couple yards for the olympians not gonna make it to the first down third and a long four for the olympians seven minutes in the second quarter we've got parks villarreal and mcdonald in the backfield hard count gives it to mcdonald to the left he sees daylight he could be gone again we'll see up oh he is tracked down by a new albany defender and ran out of bounds but there is a first down for the olympians looks like we've got an injured bulldog and a timeout on the field we're going to go ahead and take a break as hopefully the athletic trainers tend to that bulldog and hopefully everything's okay what does it mean to believe in something to truly support and get behind it to be committed and invested in making sure it succeeds and grows at first financial bank we go beyond banking providing resources for dreams that matter and giving back to projects that make a difference as our family grows our commitment to serve the community grows with it first financial bank because together we're better and we're back here at stafford field thankfully number three from the bulldogs is able to exit the field on his own power i believe that's jerrell simmons who's the quarterback for the bulldogs hopefully he's okay parks under the gun hands it off to mcdonald goes to the right cuts back to the left quite a shake from mcdonald makes it a few yards mcdonald's has shown throughout this season quite a number of moves i've just been so impressed with not only his speed downhill but his ability to move laterally and quite an asset in the backfield for the olympians this time parks keeps it up the middle and he goes untouched for the the touchdown malachi parks on senior night touchdown for the olympians that's the hard part with this three-headed monster of villarreal mcdonald and parks you just never know who's gonna run the ball but everyone who runs the ball for the olympians is fast and they've got moves great run by malachi parks kick by hedrick is good and that's 21-7 east olympians on senior night at stafford field gonna go ahead and just do some mention of our sponsors now as get ready for another kickoff thank you to ruoff mortgage ovation technology group first financial bank columbus wealth our new sponsor the african american fund of bartholomew county as well as jolie rentals jolie development and overhead door of south central indiana thank you for making this live stream possible and also for making sure that our athletic departments in this crazy at 19 time where uh gates and concessions are down dramatically thanks to these community sponsors we were able to put the funds that they have invested in and this directly back into both athletic departments for columbus eastern columbus north kickoff by the olympians short one to the left bulldogs run to the left a number of moves here and he goes up the center finally crossed the 41-42 i think he ran as many yards left and right as he did north and south but quite a few moves by number 13 darius lewis good field position once again for the bulldogs that's one thing throughout this game i know the olympians would like to be able to pin them back a little bit further that first kick hedrick was able to give them the touchback but since then it seems like the bulldogs have started at least a 35 and and today right now on this drive from the 41 handoff to number 12 to the right side he's got daylight [Applause] great run by keiondre winford about a seven yard gain for the bulldogs simmons looks like he's all right after being shaken up on while playing on defense in the backfield with winford number five across what simmons keeps it himself close to a first down we'll have to see where the referee spots it pretty close to a first down someone on the new albany crowd is asking them for us to move their chains and the referees have decided to listen and that'll be a new albany first down [Applause] just inside of olympian territory winford and simmons in the backfield hands it off to winford off to the left bouncing off gets hit a little bit but stays on his feet and gets tackled around the 43 winford after a good run gets a break number 10 miles johnson back in the game whether it's johnson or winford they've ran the ball well throughout this first half four minutes 45 seconds johnson gets the ball cuts it back right but not much room there runs into a lineman just a few yards for the bulldogs short gain third down and two let's see if the olympians can get a stop towards midfield they've done a great job in the red zone but let's not even let them get that far simmons and johnson in the backfield simmons with the hard count looks to the sideline maybe a little bit of an audible here johnson goes to the other side simmons in the gun hands it off to johnson oh no quite a play by the bulldogs one of the things the bulldogs have done well and definitely obviously fooled me already is their play action passes they've really sold those and usually i'm i'm looking you know they're i see their back so i can't see the ball until he pulls it out but as i look at the olympians too to try to get a gauge they're also getting fooled by so uh hats off so far to the bulldogs with his play action this time hands to johnson just a couple yards 21-7 olympians a little over three minutes left in the second quarter [Music] as the sun is setting on stafford field simmons hands it off once again to johnson couple yards for johnson things have been getting a little chippy on the sides for the receiver let's see on third and four if they decide to run the ball or if they kick it motion in the backfield simmons keeps it looks like he's got the first down for the bulldogs once again inside the red zone we have seen a couple of different times that play action fake let's see if the olympians notice anything when they're looking at the coverages see if they're going to be able to tell what the bulldogs are going to be doing still got uh simmons and johnson on the field but there is a timeout and we'll see what both teams talk about and once again inside the red zone looks like the ball is on the nine for the olympians first and goal for the bulldogs we'll be back in just a quick second two and a half minutes left in the first half here at stafford field simmons and johnson in the backfield for the bulldogs simmons takes a snap hands it off johnson's got room but he is met by two olympian defenders and that'll bring up second and goal [Music] yeah let's see if simmons decides to keep it for himself second and goal takes the ball hands it off to johnson met with by quite a few olympian defenders at the line and that went nowhere tj barkheimer with the hit clock is ticking one and a half minutes left in this first half simmons and johnson in the backfield johnson keeps it again i am surprised by this play calling especially when you got such a versatile quarterback in simmons that they just continue to go to the well giving the ball to miles johnson it's fourth and goal fourth and goal and i i just 54 seconds left in the first half seems to be a little bit of talking on the field between our referees not sure what's going on yet may be trying to decide if they want to time out or not but everyone's staying on the field fourth and goal claw continues to tick and now once again the refs official timeout trying to decide what's going on here seem to be some talk about resetting the game clock and there's a timeout finally taken by one of the teams now taken by new albany i want to thank you once again for tuning in to the live stream here tonight on the bcsc youtube channel my name is josh burnett and i'm the backup announcer um unfortunately our number one man jacob pierce who's been doing a great job announcing for the olympians was not feeling good tonight so you get to back up tonight but hopefully he'll be back in the very near future and you'll be able to learn more about the game as well as just his inside knowledge he's actually a senior at columbus east and knows the game very well and he also knows all these players so i'm always learning some new insights about these talented student athletes at columbus east from jacob so if you're listening jacob we hope you feel better and we're looking forward to having you back soon fourth and goal on the olympian two simmons and johnson in the backfield big and oh wow oh late flag i'm trying to understand where that late flag came in it didn't look like there was any contact between the defensive back and the receiver but looks like good defense if this would be a oh a pass interference call on the olympians i believe that's going to bring up a first down [Music] still saying fourth down on the board [Music] confusion all around folks i'm sorry for that it's still saying fourth down on the chains i don't know if they're replaying the down it's saying it's fourth and goal on the one simmons and johnson the backfield hands it off to johnson and he's stopped [Applause] and the olympians what a turn of events turnover on downs for the olympians they take over at their own two-yard line i'm still trying to understand what happened with the defensive pass interference and it remained fourth down timeout columbus east 40 seconds left in the first half [Music] really well i just learned something and many of you who know football a lot better than me already know that it pass interference is not automatically a first down in this case because it was fourth and goal they replayed the down but they did move it half the distance to the goal so cleared that up folks and hopefully we all learn something there and thankfully we didn't have to learn it through a touchdown for the bulldogs instead the olympians take over on the two yard line 40 seconds left they're gonna definitely have to get it out of the backfield and they give it to mark mcdonald for the take and he continues to bounce around running to the right side now cuts back to the 20 and out of bounds over 18 yards for mcdonald who's been having a great first half for the olympians 30 seconds left in the first half let's see if uh coach gaddis decides to be conservative or try to take a couple more shots downfield before this first half is done parks and mcdonald in the backfield under the gun takes the ball hands it off to mcdonald he runs he's got room and he gets the first down and out of bounds six seconds a little less than six seconds off the clock for the olympians and near midfield first down and a great run once again by senior mark mcdonald oh new albany decides to take a time out so we will go ahead and take a quick break and say thank you to our sponsors once more for this live stream at stafford field [Music] and we've got a cut back here to stafford field thank you so much to our sponsors for their support of both athletic departments parks back throws it for the first time i believe of the half and a great catch down field by clay camp 17 seconds left as the chains move the clock stops but as soon as they put the ball down the clock will continue to move this time parks back again gets rid of it oh just a little bit in front of mcdonald it was a good lead from malachi parks but just a little bit too far for mcdonald eight seconds left on the clock for the olympians they've at least shown so far that they'd like to try to get one more score but with that last throw down field they've got eight seconds left we'll see what they decide to do second and ten on the 44 of bulldog territory parks under center takes it he's back runs around throws it down field see if they can make a play oh [Music] and that is the end of the first half 21-7 so far for this first half and the columbus east olympians against the new albany bulldogs on senior night here at stafford field we're going to go ahead and go to the halftime show we're going to be listening to the columbus east marching band that will come out in just a few minutes but before that we'll say thank you to our halftime sponsor columbus wealth this halftime show is presented by columbus wealth thanks for joining us tonight [Music] hi i'm jacob martin and this is columbus wealth i am a financial planner here in columbus indiana born and raised a local kid graduated from purdue university and decided that i wanted to come back here to serve my community with money and to help people understand that this stuff doesn't have to be complicated it doesn't have to be surrounded by mystery we understand that there is a importance that is placed on what a dollar does for you and so if i can help someone understand how to use a dollar to do more than one thing that's a pretty neat thing to be able to do and that's what i do every day i often hear that it's nice to just have a third voice in the room or maybe it's a second opinion right depending on who we're sitting down with and when in life we want to be centered on the client and that becomes a relationship we're able to sit down and help people on a macro or micro scale where i can get to know them understand more about who they are because just like how i had to learn all of these things at some point in time in my life and i'm still learning every day i want to teach people those same concepts and so we do that by helping people analyze that full picture we're best used by planning and helping people understand how do you use insurance tools how do you use investments how do i look at this differently if i am a business owner or i work for the state or i work for a large corporation those are all different things that matter and different solutions come up in that picture so we want to help people best navigate that growing up in columbus i always found that one of the things we did really well here was to work together i think you see a community that supports itself that it revolves around the idea that not everybody is an expert at everything and we're okay with that and that's what we're about at columbus wealth so if at all you're motivated to better understand how money works in your plan and what we might be able to do for you i'd suggest that you take a look at our website you can find us at www.columbuswealthinc.com find us on facebook at our columbus wealth inc facebook page we hope you get the chance to reach out to us and we'd be happy to talk to you with whatever those issues stafford field great opportunity to honor our student athletes as well as our band members that have dedicated quite a bit of time over their their tenure at columbus east to their different activities whether it be cheerleading football band so many opportunities within bcsc and it's a great opportunity to be able to honor the you know over 50 seniors that have chosen to be involved in the different extracurricular activities that columbus east in this instance has offered it's a beautiful friday night it feels like the beginning of fall officially sweatshirt weather hope that you're enjoying this live stream whether you're at home or maybe sitting somewhere in your car or outside by the fire inside enjoying just an opportunity to be able to support your columbus east olympians it's been a good first half here solid start by the o's mark macdonald once again has been tearing it up he just does a great job of running the ball almost made a sports center top 10 catch from malachi parks at the end of the first half but just a little bit out of his reach i expect another great second half from him malachi parks has excelled as as per usual whether it be running the ball he's had a real nice throw to clay camp you know our defense has been doing a good job once the bulldogs get in the red zone i wish that they would keep them out of the red zone but a couple different times they have um you know forced them to turn the turnover on downs which you know just shows a lot of grit and determination by the o's defense you know a couple opportunities for turnovers i really wish that i've been giving the senior chris bergman his sister a hard time who's our videographer i really wish that he would have had a a pick six and could have taken it back on uh tonight but i do think that uh there's gonna be more opportunities for him and the o's defense to to show up in the second half right now 21-7 and we've got to give props to to new albany as well they've ran the ball well you know their quarterback has just done a good job of leading their offense darrell simmons number three he's a versatile running threat as well as you know someone who continually has fooled me and you know i'm not saying that's very hard to do but he's fooled me i thought he he uh handed it off a couple times and he ripped it back from the run pass option and would hit you know a wide receiver out on the flat a couple times where you know i really thought that he was going to run it and then he ends up throwing a good ball a couple times and a few times they've missed those but darrell simmons has had a good first half as well as the the two running backs miles johnson and keiondre winford powerful runners quite a few moves make the o's miss um you know thankfully we were able to contain miles johnson especially in those different situations where you know whether it was fourth and goal or um you know a couple times he had an opportunity to break out and we just were able to stop him i can think of one play i think it was parker harrison who stopped him from from what could have been a touchdown so those defenses showed up when it counts and i look for a another solid half from the olympians on both sides of the ball i really like to see them extend the lead whether that's i you know i'd like to see trice villarreal get the ball and show his talent you know very uh you know that that third leg or that third head to the three-headed monster trice has had a really good start to the season and uh you know he's a junior obviously it's you know kind of been senior night so far with malachi parks and mark mcdonald but i'd like to see that uh that junior trice villarreal get the ball a little bit in the second half because he can turn on the jets and just leave you behind as we see the olympians warming up getting ready for the second half i think it's going to be important that uh from the very beginning they set the tone in the second half you know 21-7 right now but you know it's very important to get off to a good start be able to show the bulldogs that even though it's a two possession game right now they could score twice and it'd be a tie game but if they could extend that lead and show them from the very beginning that olympians mean business i think that they could break this game wide open you know and be able to get close i think i don't know the exact number so maybe uh somebody could text me or um put this out on social media somewhere i believe that coach gaddis and the olympians are getting very close to that 100 win in a row mark in the hoosier hills con conference which is just incredible the number of seasons of consistency that the olympians have put together each and every year in the hoosier hills conference you know i know that it is not you know the biggest conference in the state but you know year in and year out there have been some solid athletes that have come through the hhc and for the olympians to be near a hundred games in a row of of winning it's just it's amazing so shout out to bob gaddis and his coaching staff and you know all of the olympians both present and uh past alumni that have been a part of this uh impressive record a little over one minute before we get into the second half i'm going to go ahead and take a quick break but before i do i'm just going to give a mention and then i'll go ahead and put these on the screen for an actual commercial but i want to say a special thanks to our sponsors ruoff mortgage ovation technology group first financial bank columbus wealth also a shout out to the african american community fund they are a new sponsor the african american community fund of bartholomew county just reached out and we want to say a special thank you to supporting for you supporting both the athletics as well as our extracurricular streaming that we'll be doing throughout the year we really appreciate your partnership as well as joey rentals and joey development and lastly but definitely not least my friend chuck wells former olympian as well as the owner of overhead door of south central indiana we're going to go ahead and go to commercial and then we'll be back at stafford field for the second half of senior night for the columbus east olympians against the new albany bulldogs thanks for tuning in [Music] me [Music] and we're back at stafford field bulldogs getting ready for the kickoff a little bit of confusion with the number of men on the field and the bulldogs who had the kickoff to start the game will kick off the second half and second half is underway short kick picked up in the backfield on the 10 yard line i believe that was is that mark mcdonald saw some nice moves in the backfield could not see across the field that far but i believe that was senior mark mcdonald starting out malachi parks and macdonald be in the backfield three receivers set and the second half is underway parks takes a snap goes to the left keeps it running up the gut nice run good first yard gain looks like eight yards out to the 35 for the olympians second and two villarreal mcdonald and parks in the backfield hands it off to villarreal exactly what i was hoping to see a great run by number seven villarreal wish that he could have cut it outside after he got to the the second level but was taken down but not before getting olympian first down parks takes a snap hands it off to mcdonald oh and i'm not sure if he tripped or slipped but i know that uh if i was running out there i would have already fallen down just thinking about trying to make moves like mark mcdonald so he's allowed to have those every now and then it is second and 11 and this time he will lead the way for malachi parks good run to the right side [Applause] a few yards brings up third down for the olympians third and eight and let's see what the olympians can come up with on third and eight parks hard count takes a snap throws it out to clay camp nice blocking from the olympians and clay camp is gone 30 20 and it's a touchdown from the senior clay camp what a great play charles clay camp great throw from malachi parks and the olympians set the tone early wow that was a thing of beauty and they put six on the board quick within the first two minutes of the second half hedrick lines up for the extra point and he makes it 28-7 olympians obviously have done a great job of running the ball throughout this entire game but man that was nice to see a little bit of wide receiver love with the senior clay camp with the touchdown i think that was exactly how coach gaddis drew it up a great start to the second half for the olympians just want to give a shout out to jacob pierce our number one announcer he is at a home tonight and he just texted me saying east has won 91 straight hhc regular season games that is an impressive stat and even from the bench tonight jacob pierce coming through so thanks man kickoff from the olympians a squiver down to the left side he is still on his feet man he's got moves [Music] number five to john winburn has made the olympians miss throughout this game tonight and once again the bulldogs have great field position as they start their drive there's one thing that i think the olympians will be talking about regardless of the score is we have got to get better on special teams with closing off those running lanes because uh just each time tonight they've been getting beat that's the only only place that they have i feel like there's some room for improvement here tonight on otherwise a just a strong game for the olympians simmons takes the ball but met at the line and the hammer was put down by parker harrison nope that was not parker harrison fifth let's see chase harrison another harrison parker harrison came out with the hammer tonight and chase harrison brought the boomstick there oh another play action fake this time yep dejean winburn with a great catch down close nope third and four for the bulldogs very nice catch there simmons with the ball hands it off continues the motor key andre winford is a guy that just continues to run his legs and regardless of contact he just keeps going the olympians have to do they've gotta they've got to get two guys on him at least to bring him down important man fourth and one once again the bulldogs being aggressive into olympian territory let's see what the olympians can do on this fourth and one hands it off oh oh oh and keiondre winford keeps running and gets the bulldog first down i really thought the olympians had a chance but once winford bounced off i was just hoping that he'd go down because the kid just keeps moving winford stays in simmons simmons takes the ball play action fake he's throwing it downfield to number two oh just out of reach olympians got lucky there because j ray johnson almost took it to the house and that play action fake the bulldogs have just done a great job of faking everybody from in the stands to on the field with that play action fake and if that ball was just a tick thrown a little bit shorter it would have been a touchdown once again looks like winford or was that yes that was winford winford again and here comes miles johnson miles johnson number 10 for the bulldogs is coming on the field for the first time in the second half and when he comes in he's getting the ball so the olympians need to be prepared to yep and right away johnson gets the ball runs it up the middle and he is met by a couple different olympian defenders able to take him down there simmons and johnson teamed up for quite a first half and i would expect that they just continue to feed him the ball simmons again to johnson but thankfully met by about three olympian defenders in the middle the only difference that i've really seen between johnson and winford is winford when he bounces it out to the outside he can find daylight pretty quickly and johnson he he likes to run in between uh i guess to be in the middle more often simmons takes the ball oh about he's out of the pocket running scrambling olymp olympians knock him out of bounds after a couple yard gain the johnson has been more running it up the middle let's see on third and three what simmons comes up with bulldogs trying to get off the field nope actually getting into a different position going to receiver now simmons takes the ball hands it off and it's going to be really close to a first down miles johnson takes up the middle and and that is a first down for the bulldogs six and a half minutes left in the third quarter 28 to seven olympians i think it's really important that the olympians slow the bulldogs down they've they've been coming back at the olympians hard after a great drive by the olympians capped off with a clay camp touchdown simmons takes the ball hands it off up the middle about six or seven yards up the middle miles johnson with another great run five yard gain from the bulldogs johnson stays in the game simmons hands it off once again this time to the right side gets a block and another first down for the bulldogs [Applause] that far side when the bulldogs are either on the left side they have been known to kick it to the right side and they've got a lot of room and if johnson or winford gets free they're dangerous they run to that far side let's see what they decided to do gives the ball to johnson met once again by the olympians short gain for the bulldogs as the clock continues to run we're getting close to five minutes in the third quarter 28 to seven olympians over the bulldogs second and ten or second in goal excuse me on the six of the olympians simmons takes the ball hands it off to johnson kicks it to the left oh he is met in the backfield by two olympian defenders and a great tackle by the olympian defenders there this is going to be an important down for the o's here wondering if the bulldogs go with a play-action pass or if they kick it to johnson and then you know set it up for oh action the background simmons keeps it jump pass oh and barely out of the reach of the bulldogs i have not seen that before folks a jump pass from simmons less than a good spiral than we've seen from simmons before kind of a wobbly pass that was tough for the bulldogs to catch but definitely creative on the part of the bulldog quarterback that brings up fourth down and as you guessed it the bulldogs are going for it once again simmons takes the ball rolls to the right let's see oh he's got an olympian defender can they take him down or is he going to take it to the house and he's met by an olympian defender and once again the olympians caused the bulldogs to turn it over on downs one thing that you have to you know take your hats off the bulldogs are aggressive and they they just keep going there's there's not going to be they're not going for the field goal they're just going to continue to run the ball and be aggressive it hasn't turned into the results that they would like but hey they're going for it and because of that the olympians are going to take over on their own six parks looks like mcdonald in the back field nope trice villarreal actually parks keeps it himself and looks like close to a first down for the olympians and they have moved the chains first down for the olympians hands it off oh nope very nice play action pass from parks great throw to number 42 xander brotsman it's not it's kind of nice to see the play action fake from the olympians i've seen it in a couple of the first games but very nice throw to brontman see if we can get a little momentum with that another one play action pass down the seam ooh what a catch from craissberg when he continues to run kenny get it all the way i believe he was down and the referee is signaling that he was down maybe it's a gift either way we are thankful what a catch from chris bergman all the way down to the one yard line wish that he would have been able to cap that off with a touchdown but what a catch for number nine chris bergman he is alone on the right side if they snap it quick from the one yard line villarreal mcdonald and parks three-headed monster gives it to mark mcdonald and that is an easy touchdown for the olympians hedrick for the extra point and it's up and good 35 to 7 olympians over the new albany bulldogs senior chris bergman with a great catch off the play action fake from malachi parks back to back play action just nice to see the olympians throwing the ball a little bit they they run the ball so well and getting an opportunity to see senior malachi parks throw the ball a little bit um nice change of pace from the olympians there and because of that 35 to 7 now the olympians take the lead again extend the lead excuse me and hedrick with the squib kicks it to the 20 this time out to the 30.
spin move probably a block in the back there hopefully coming back bulldogs take it out to the 35 but i am thinking that there is going to be um a block in the back pass and one of the things that it's been nice to see his uh sportsmanship towards from both teams throughout the game and like to see that continue as uh got a little close to comfort too close to comfort for uh the bulldogs to the referee there but thankfully cooler heads prevailed and the referees will move the bulldogs back to around the 20. as new albany takes over on this drive [Music] number 12. all right i got a feeling we're going to see a little bit of keiondre winford here and wen for takes nope yeah oh what a fake i think he fooled his own teammates there number 12. quarterback keeper either the bulldogs are just really good at faking things or i need to go to an eye doctor so maybe uh bcsc we could get a eye doctor sponsor oh a reverse this time oh and number five for the new albany bulldogs dijon winburn great run there we saw that reverse earlier in the game there was a fumble and uh this time no fumble and some quite a bit of speed from win burn there thankfully we were able to contain it third and six now for the bulldogs whistleblown see what we got maybe another penalty what's the penalty this time white hat has signaled a false start on the bulldogs um bulldogs have done a really good job so far of not incurring penalties but they have been plagued by them on this drive third and 11.
simmons who might sack him first sack of the night by the olympians and the pressure came on third and 11 and tj barkheimer brings the boomstick for the sack and the only question i have is are the bulldogs gonna go for it on fourth down again or are they gonna punt this time it looks like they are going to punt i believe this is their first pun of the night bulldogs with the ball pretty good punt by the bulldogs out to the 45 caught by mcdonald mcdonald man that guy can move look it brings about two bulldogs with him and into the 25 yard line great catch by mcdonald showed his speed and then showed his strength as he pulled a couple of bulldogs with him the olympians take over on the 25 let's see if we can get a couple quick points up on the board to extend the lead and put this game out of reach parks it's interesting being up here in the announcer booth as i was hearing the new albany coaches over and over requesting a timeout and then five seconds later right before the olympians must have had some type of mismatch or they saw something up in the booth they didn't like so the bulldogs will take a time out and we will be right back as we thank our sponsors one more time for being a part of this live stream so we will go to that and we'll be right back in in just a second looking for a new home well you might need a loan you know applying for a mortgage doesn't the 25 for the olympians mcdonald and parks in the backfield hands it off to mcdonald he's got room jukes left goes cuts back right and he is going to take it in for another olympian touchdown [Applause] what a run that was one of those moves that you just say mark macdonald is a man among boys making people miss and going in untouched that was impressive hedrick for the extra point and it's no good that's unfortunate hedrick has done a good job with his extra points and sorry to see that but it was a successful drive for the olympians another touchdown and now the o's are up 41-7 you're all right time to kick it off see what we can do on defense hedrick for the kickoff kicks it low who hits the feet of the bulldogs at the 20 he slips and he's down so effectively a touch back after the ball hit the feet of number nine and then slipped as he tried to take it on the return 41-7 one minute 15 seconds left in the third quarter simmons and it looks like keiondre winford in the back field for the bulldogs i would expect winford to get the ball yup he gets the ball goes to the right comes up and wow puts the shoulder down and that was a nice run looks like elliott koopman was able to hang and was able to hit him back but man i heard some shoulder pads clanking there as keiondre winford got a first down for the bulldogs hands it off once again this time he's met by about four olympian defenders and he's not going anywhere under a minute now second and ten for the bulldogs [Music] number two number five dejohn winburn looking to the side be interested to see nope winfred is going to stay with the ball to the left and once again in the backfield great defense by the olympians kai stidham met winford in the background and that's the only way that you can really stop winford is you got to get him before he starts going that was a great tackle by kai stethem and that will be the end of the third quarter here at stafford field on senior night columbus east olympians 41 new albany bulldogs seven as they switch sides and go into the fourth quarter we're gonna go ahead and take a quick break and say thank you to our sponsors and we'll see you right back in just a moment get your popcorn get a refill get a snack and hope you're ready for a great last quarter here at stafford field [Music] and we had to come back here short of a few seconds thank you all of our sponsors as the fourth quarter begins simmons met with pressure runs the ball up the middle he's making everyone miss but thankfully was stopped by looks like parker harrison the only reason why simmons did not score for the bulldogs darrell simmons was moving and thankfully parker harrison able to stop him first down for the bulldogs simmons give it to keiondre winford [Music] now this is the time where you need to leave no doubt don't let the bulldogs get an easy score here olympians need to keep the pressure on winfrey gets the ball runs it up the middle met by about four olympians and a very short gain good enough for a first down though for the bulldogs clock continues to move as the first down the chains have been moved 11 minutes left ooh throwing it to the left side can he oh i really would have liked to have seen that be caught such great coverage by tyrell bowers man i think he could have picked that off but great job of tyrell bowers did a great job of knocking it down and you know what that's what counts he saved the touchdown there great job hands it off to winford bounces to the right oh and what a great whoo that was a nice tackle by the olympians this caught him square senior chris bergman he pushed the up stick and man that was a great tackle by bergman another tackle by the olympians the olympians are bringing the heat on the defense right now 59.
chase harrison harrison and bergman back to back big tackles fourth and four and you guessed it the bulldogs are going for it simmons [Music] and winford in the background oh play action pass oh oh elliott koopman did a great job defending it but man threaded the needle good pass by simmons there enough for the bulldogs first down man that was close nine minutes 45 seconds first down simmons hands it off to winford up the middle [Music] surprised that miles johnson has been on the bench and not out on the field but maybe the ride in the hot hand of winford as he lines up to the right hands off gets the ball again bounces off to the right i think he's once again gonna be met yes another great tackle looked like parker harrison yep great tackle by harrison short gain by the bulldogs winford and simmons third and five simmons gets the ball keeps it himself and he's got daylight and that is a score and winford was a great decoy there and simmons took it for the touchdown another score by new albany [Applause] 41-13 extra point very nice kick [Music] number 92 perry towner with the extra point that was a tall kicker very nice kick from the bulldogs 41-14 1-4-4-1 simmons has been the bright spot tonight for the bulldogs made a couple of real nice play action passes as well as um broke out on a few runs and they capped off a solid drive there with the touchdown a little after 9 p.m here at stafford field on senior night for the east olympians new albany bulldogs game new albany getting ready to kick off to the olympians small probably some type of onside attempt or would you say it wasn't a normal kick but to no avail the olympians take over with great field position near the 40-yard line let's see how the olympians respond after the bulldogs marched all the way down and scored a touchdown on them might be able to see uh villarreal get in on the action here i'd like to see him get the ball and take it to the house nope parks keeps it for himself first down great run by number two malachi parks i was actually wrong number four that was a jv on smith in the backfield looks like villarreal is out there now wondering what the flag on the play is was it an ineligible receiver oh what is this [Music] grant [Music] testing testing apologize everyone we're having some video technical difficulties trying to fix those for you though right now if you can just hang with us we will try to get this fixed right away in the meantime oh apologize everyone watching the live stream sorry we had those technical difficulties we are back here at stafford field still 41 to 14.
thank you for all of you who have stuck with us parks all right it is third and three four minutes and 28 seconds we have had a couple of substitutions in here ethan duncan in at quarterback as well as javion smith running back for the olympians oh and smith is met at the line by a pretty big bulldog defender again thank you for all those of you that have stuck with us and apologize again for the short technical difficulties one of the things that we're learning each and every week as we live stream is that one little thing can mess up everything so thankfully we try to keep our head in the game and we're back here with you again to finish a successful senior night for the olympians but unfortunately penalty here for the o's actually penalty on the bulldogs brings up fourth and two for the olympians ethan duncan and the shotgun takes it hands it off to javion smith ooh smith looks like he might be short he is short of the first down good defense by the bulldogs three minutes left in the fourth quarter here at stafford field as the bulldogs take over on their own 16.
hmm foreign olympians stop the run miles johnson back in the game haven't seen that name or heard that name for a little while about two and a half minutes left in the fourth quarter 41 14 olympians miles johnson takes the ball runs it to the right and he could be dangerous if he had some some space there but taken down by the olympians close to a first down third and two for new albany and it looks like they've got enough for the first down as we hit the two minute mark here in the fourth quarter [Music] that was enough for the first half thank you um yes [Music] well the stands are starting to trickle out as we're under a minute left in the fourth quarter ooh and oh number six with a pick six all the way back whoa number six tyrell bowers on senior night the senior takes it back all the way for an interception touchdown there better not be a flag on the field because that was beautiful just make sure to get the thing [Music] what a way to end senior night that was nice all right let's what are we doing time out on the field not really sure what there is to talk about but might be a substitution not really sure questions set up is [Music] and after some time the extra kick is good and it's 48 to 14 as the olympians take control at the end of this game 43 seconds left we're going to go ahead and do the jolie rentals and joey development offensive player of the game as well as the overhead door of south central indiana defensive player of the game and after talking it over with jacob pierce our announcer i gave him a call he's been watching at home and jacob hope you continue to feel better we concurred both that mark mcdonald is once again our offensive player of the game with three touchdowns and just been in a very impressive offensive performance once again mark mcdonald is going to be our jolie development and jolie rentals offensive player of the game and then on defense originally we were going to give both the harrison brothers the defensive player of the game but because of the pick six at the end of the game and it being senior night we're gonna give tyrell bowers the overhead door of south central indiana defensive player of the game a great defensive deflection earlier on the game that saved the touchdown and then he had a pick six interception and touchdown on senior night so he is going to be our overhead door of south central indiana defensive player of the game 37 seconds left in the fourth quarter senior night here at stafford field great performance by the olympians that'll be 92 regular season hhc wins in a row an impressive feat and we'll continue to see how high that streak can go great performance tonight 48 to 14.
we'll see what these final 37 seconds hold for us appreciate you all tuning in and sticking with us throughout this game it's been a great opportunity to highlight uh specifically our seniors tonight on cheerleading band and football it's a great senior class here at columbus east and we celebrate them tonight and appreciate their um their commitment to excellence both in the classroom and on the field as well as we congratulate their families um it's an exciting time in these seniors lives and and we celebrate them tonight a little less than 30 seconds left 15 seconds left see you later thank you to jacob pierce's he was our uh support this night from home our number one announcer as well as ashlyn bergman sister of senior chris bergman thank you for being our videographer tonight and throughout the season for the olympians congratulations to the columbus east olympians on their big win over the new albany bulldogs on senior night thank you to all of our sponsors once again to ruoff mortgage ovation technology group first financial bank columbus wealth our brand new sponsor the african american fund of bartholomew county jolie rentals and joey development overhead door of south central indiana thank you bartholomew county bcsc and columbus east olympians fans for watching tonight my name is josh burnett i'm the bcsc communications coordinator and it was a privilege to get to spend some time with you tonight thank you for everyone tuning in hope you have a great weekend enjoy it and
i don't kyle oh you're not connected i'd like to call the meeting order um no really agendas we're just going to create a bunch of changes this is just public hearing for review of any budget changes dana would you like to share any changes with the board yes um i put together a quick powerpoint just to show kind of the the changes um since there's no public here i'm just going to go through the revisions so tonight i'm presenting the budget to you and later we'll ask you to formally approve the final budget it's been on display at the district office and it's been posted in the newspaper for the 30 days that it was required to be every year the board must approve the budget by september 30th of every year and then it has to be filed with the roe and the clerks um and then october 31st is the deadline for um isb to file it um and then it also go on our website so basically most of the revisions for the revenues this first slide shows you on the education fund transition fees have already surpassed my tentative budget numbers so i increased that to 80 000.
good evening hatter families how are you doing my name is dan donovan i'm the principal of denver high school welcome to denver high school's open virtual house here uh nowadays this seems pretty routine for what we're doing um we're going to get started and get started here as you'll notice my administrative team is on the zoom the reason we don't have it in zoom is probably two main reasons one while we have one that's a thousand sometimes we can go over that uh for people that are going to be in it and two we just didn't want anybody to crash so you're watching on youtube live as we are sometimes in our car sometimes in our house and sometimes still at school so with that we'll start moving forward if i can get it to click there you go our agenda for open house tonight is just introduction so you get to know the administrative staff as they are here what is tonight's goal for you and what you should be looking for out of open house um so we're all on the same page for that and i'm going to talk somewhat briefly over about the schedule we're on right now the distance learning what you should expect and what should be going on with the teachers flex mentor flex what do those terms mean to a parent and how does it work in this distance learning environment you know it is i believe our third third year to starting flex um so in school it's different you don't know if you heard much about it but at home it's different too then we have some tips for some parents uh just that we've found in our research and looking at distance learning what works for parents and lastly just some random topics that we are going to discuss and go over and hopefully help you in one way or another so like i said my name is dan donovan i'm the principal there's my contact information that's my twitter handle as they say this is my fifth year as the principal of dhs my previous eight years as principal the freshman academy previously to this i am married and mrs donovan some of you may know is a teacher at broadview middle school she has been teaching sixth grade there for some while while i do have two sons both attend dhs one is a senior and one is a sophomore and we've asked all of our admins to share their favorite quote and that's mine by dr martin luther king intelligence plus character is the goal of true education you know when i got into education it wasn't because i had a love of science or or a love of english but i love to try to help kids and that's what we're trying to do so when i started in fifth grade you know my goal was to to try to make a an impression and a change in kids lives and that's why i love doing what i do in danbury and i've stayed with it for my 25th year in this district next i'd like to introduce i believe it's dr martin's we're gonna get a feedback but go ahead hello i am in the same room as the presenter i'm megan martens um and i can't believe i'm starting my 12th year at danbury high school i can mark the years because my son was three months old when i started and so that's how i remember how long i have been here on days when i can remember how old my son is um i taught in bridgeport when i began my career and then i moved to the state department of education where i was a consultant with districts urban districts large school districts and really really enjoyed working with danbury and was lucky enough to get a position here i live in newtown with my husband i have two kids they are in third grade and sixth grade and uh three dogs and so this quote really spoke to me um amateurs sit and wait for inspiration the rest of us just get up and go to work and that is exactly what i think we all need to be doing right now just getting up one foot in front of the other and i really look forward to working with you and your children to make this um certainly a memorable year but a successful one as well pass it on to mr salvastrini who i believe it was not yet admitted to the uh zoom is our athletic director and he has served here for quite some time and he is available if you have questions his contact information as well as our athletic handbook is online where'd he go where did he go one was there he was there you just went into a fox never back and so i will now turn it over to kate festa hello everyone um so thank you meg i am kate festa i'm the supervisor of special education for the high school level um this is my third year in this role um previously i had been a special education teacher at rogers park for many years and then transitioned over to broadview as a special services facilitator um i'm certified in special education as well as regular education but also have a school counseling certification and just like mr donovan have that connection to broadview as my husband also works there mr festa he's the school psychologist so some of you may be familiar with him um and together we live in new town and i have two children a son in fourth grade and a daughter in first of course if you have any questions related to special education please feel free to send me an email thank you miss festa next up is miss pereira let me mute myself hi everybody um i'm don pereira i am the level three assistant principal um i'm starting my 23rd year at danbury high school um this is my ninth year as the assistant principal and prior to that i was the esl world language department head and a bilingual science teacher i am born and raised in danbury i'm a danbury girl through and through i'm married i have two beautiful children a son who's 18 and just started college and a daughter who's a sophomore in high school the quote that i picked was from nelson mandela do not judge me by my success judge me by how many times i fell down and got back up again i feel like unfortunately we've been pushed down a lot of times in the past six months and we just got to keep getting back up and moving forward and progressing um that's how we need to be measured not not by our successes but by the attempts and how we overcome our difficulties i wish everyone a tremendously successful year and if anybody should need to reach out to me my contact information is below and again welcome and i hope we have a wonderful year everybody thank you miss forever mr davidson good evening everyone i'm chris davidson i am the principal of the freshman academy i've been at danbury high school for 16 years now five as the principal of the freshman academy i spent some years as assistant principal on level two and i started as a business and computer science teacher at danbury high school i am married i have three boys age ten six and four and the quote i chose to share is uh make each day your masterpiece because we really truly have the power to to make our day whatever we want it to be and in these trying times let's try to make it a masterpiece um that's all i got thank you ms daniels good evening everyone it's a pleasure to be here and um i will start by sharing that this is my fourth year as an assistant principal at danbury high school prior to coming to danbury i served as a principal and assistant principal and department head and teacher i taught science um all throughout high school um different high schools in connecticut i have a 15 year old son who's a junior in high school i was also born raised and still reside in new haven connecticut and i provided a quote from winnie the pooh christopher robin it's my favorite quote got me through some pretty tough times and it's you're braver than you believe stronger than you seem and smarter than you think and that quote resonates um in because um to miss pereira's point a lot of times our lives can become difficult and we have to remind ourselves to think positively and keep going strong have a good evening everyone last but certainly not least i believe with mr larosa hi everyone my name is john larosa this is my third year as a assistant principal at denver high school i spent spent the previous 12 years of my uh academic career educational career as the dh um as science teacher and science department head um i was born and raised in danbury and attended danbury high school i'm married to mrs larosa who many students had at westside middle school she's a science teacher there i have four children ages eleven nine five and three three of them are in denver public schools now over at ais and west side and the quote i chose um i've always applied to athletics but also um academic work that i've done and it's from the first native american to win a gold medal in the olympics named billy mills and he said the ultimate is not to win but to reach within your depths of your capabilities and compete against yourself to the greatest extent possible and i think that's a great way for our kids to kind of think about their pursuits both academic um athletics and life challenges because we're not always going to be the one that wins but hopefully we can push ourselves to be the best that we can be thanks so much and back to mr donovan because they were all seeing me um hi everybody i'm sarah roy this is my sixth year as the director of the danbury early college opportunity uh prior to that i was a middle school spanish teacher in west hartford for 12 years i am the mother to two daughters uh like mr donovan i have a senior and a sophomore and my favorite quote is when you get into a tight place and everything goes against you never give up then for that is just the place and time the tide will turn and it seems like we kind of have a theme here with our quotes where it seems perseverance is what is going to help us to get through this so i wish you all the best evening and don't hesitate to reach out if you need anything [Music] so as you can see we are not experts with any of this but it's our first time trying it and we're all different obviously in different spots and different places trying to do it if you wonder why does mr donovan keep looking to his right because on my on the board over there i can see where the admins are and what's going on over there so that's if you ever wonder why i'm looking to the right so let's talk about tonight's goals the goals of tonight as um you know for an open house especially in a virtual type situation is one just meet your meet the class teacher uh you know get to get a feel for what they're saying you know everything or a lot of things are going to be done via email at this point so now you can kind of put a tone to or voice to the email as it comes out next is to you know revisit the course syllabus and look at the course related information to have an understanding of what's going to be going on during that course this time the teacher will share their learning expectations and attendance requirements and their office hours and when they're available and everything that you're going to need to make sure that every student here is successful which is our goal and most importantly i think is identify where to get help in the course and and talk to the teachers and peer groups and things like that to see who you can rely on to help you when you get a little jammed up in the course so it's just those are the basic things it's not uh a one-on-one with the teacher about how your child's doing it's probably way too early in the year but remember if you ever want to talk to your teacher you can set up a child's teacher you can set up an appointment for them anytime you want it's convenient for you and the teacher that's when you can start going over individual progress and next steps and things like that so tonight is just kind of an overview and those are the kind of things that we're looking for as you go through the night so let's talk about the danbury high school schedule this is the dhs schedule on uh dl distance learning your student child should be sitting with their teacher which is called synchronous learning on the day that they have class so for example if it's an a day which i believe today was they should have been in their block one class starting at eight o'clock in the morning with the teacher streaming live for them now does it mean the class is necessarily going to go all the way to 8 no but that's the ending point because we want to give the students at least a five minute break to get up stretch grab a snack and then get back before block two starts you know but every day they are going to be on their classes you'll notice that block four is a little shorter by about 25 25 minutes that's because it meets both days so there's actually more time in block four but since it's uh uh over two days it adds up to more but there's more things that have to be done because it's not a straight block going all the way through the most important takeaway on that is monday tuesday thursday and friday your child should be sitting in front of the computer doing the work from eight to 11 30 unless the teacher is absent that day or they've been pulled for a meeting such as a ppt or something like that then they will have work assigned to them and that block time is a great time to do it but they should be sitting there now i know there are questions when we were developing this how come it's different than um the the hybrid time and stuff like that and the state came out with the recommendation that classes should be no longer for high school than 30 minutes was the literature they put out we put out 55 we didn't think 80 in a block was going to be you know doable for kids sitting 80 minutes straight um and things like that so that's why we settled on 55 to go through 11 30 but their day is not over at that point and this is something we need to talk about flex you know flex is something we've used at denver high school as i said for the past two years and what flex is is a time for your child to get extra help extensions one-on-one time with the teacher or just ask a question on maybe something they didn't understand so what we did is we set up three flex sessions uh flex pm one two and three on monday tuesday thursday and friday as we start rolling here and teachers start getting um you know into the curriculum more and start getting into content and either students begin to have a little bit of progress or just some question that they want answered this is the time they're going to do it if a teacher asks for dan donovan to come to his flex pm2 from 12 20 to 12 35 just for a check-in dan donovan has to go okay they are required students are required to go if they can request because self-scheduling is going to be is open do we open it is open that they can request to go so if your son or daughter says to you i didn't get what was going on to you with uh in class today your response should be did you go to flex because that is the time that they can hit that teacher up right online the teachers are there and say hey um you know can you explain to me one more time i didn't get that my internet cut out i couldn't hear you my little brother was having a meltdown on the carpet because he didn't want to sit there any longer whatever it is i get it we understand that things come up so this is a time for them on monday tuesday thursday and friday to go in and get what they need and then from 1 to 2 20 they have assigned independent dl work it's a good time for them to start previewing the next class or looking at what they did in class that day so that's kind of and then wednesday wednesday is a whole bunch of flexes we start at 8 to 8 25 with our mentor flex which used to be called mentor monday but it's not on monday so we took that out uh where they'll be doing scl social emotional learning uh every day so we keep that routine going that they're up in front of the computer at eight o'clock so every month every wednesday they need to be up in front of that computer with their mentor teacher who will have uh an assignment to do for them and from there it's just like the rest of them they can go to flexes all the way out until 11 25 and then lunch and then there you go so flex is very important if they are struggling or if the ap teachers need to speed up their curriculum they're going to start using flex in a couple of weeks we're going to start having our clubs and organizations going this is when they'll meet during these flex times so it may look like a whole lot of flex but when we start pulling seven classes and three clubs and things like that there it gets kind of crunched so take advantage of this time so we can make sure we're going forward all right our flex enrichment kind of went through this this is just another way to look at it uh you'll see that both times attendance is taken and if you are pulled it is mandatory for you to go we expect you to be there and we can run reports on that and when if someone asks us is my child been going we can go and tell them students will repost a video on how to do it for going for forward on how you can log into enriching students and use enriching students to um to select your teachers that'll be coming out we'll either do it tonight or tomorrow morning through your email so check that out all right tips for parents i think the number one thing that we wanted to do was routines uh you know have a designated workspace so they get up their routine is they get up they have breakfast they do whatever they do in the morning before school and then they get to their designated workspace on the bed uh is generally not a good thing because then they're sleepy so get them up get them moving so they know that when i sit at this desk it's time to go to work communication with school obviously it's not in person but if you need to have a google meet with someone then you can do it um you know but if you want to communicate through email with teachers uh you know they're going to be inundated with emails while they're teaching and planning and stuff like that so give them a little extra time to respond and if it ever becomes a an issue you can just reach out to your son or daughter's administrator and they can help you out with that uh next is use flex i already talked about that use flex to your advantage it's a great time to get small group and start construction if you don't want that make sure that kids are staying active get them outside well i know it's getting cooler out but we got to get them outside and get them active they're not walking around this building you know they're sitting in a chair for a long time so make sure that and self-care make sure that you as well as the students are practicing self-care which just means that you have something to unwind with whether it's exercising or eating a cake which would make you want to think about exercising whichever way you want to go with it the self-care part take care of yourself because it's completely different for everybody some random topics uh the district decision to go about going to hybrid you know when are we going back i know that they said they're revisiting it around october 1st i do not make that decision to come straight from department of health and dr sal to what they're going to do i feel very comfortable if we go back to a hybrid that we can social distance in danbury high school the sats and psats on october 27th we will be giving the uh s.a.t to seniors there's been two times that we've sent out a form that you log in we're going to give it in school so far there's been about 225 kids who have signed up to take it it's very difficult to find sat places right now so if you're a current senior and want to take it go look at that form and fill it out underclassmen photos you're going to get information coming out it's going to be in what we call the new gym not the gym but the new gym not the old gym or the main gym the new gym um where it's just going to be walk up service you come in you tell them your right name and stuff it pops up you sit down take your picture uh life touch has these a whole bunch of protocols they have to follow you know we're going to have people there to make sure students are socially distanced you come in one side of the gym you walk through take your picture and walk out the other side so that information has been going out so take a look at that like i said clubs and organizations are going to be starting up very soon so look for that it's a great way especially during flex to get kids involved in the school and what we're looking for same thing for student announcements we're trying to come up with something fun and exciting that we can do um in order to you know still be attached to the school we're missing a big part of that right now no one more than the uh admins who are kind of sick and tired of staring at each other in the same rooms and dealing with each other we'd much rather be dealing with students but we'll make the best of it i just said that for there because they're here um so we'll be moving on with that lastly school supplies instruments and ap books there's something that went out that wednesday we're going to be having a pickup if you received one if you didn't get an email or notification from us then you don't know anything but if you're most likely an ap student or art student instruments we're going to start handing out the supplies that we have to make sure that you're successful in those courses if you did not get an email from us or a phone call then don't worry about it your class does not need it so from now what do i do so i'm over by a couple minutes here you're going to go into your using your child's google classroom link so you may need them as you're screaming down the hallway right now how do i get into your google classroom you know have them sit with you and pump into the google classroom link pop in and see what your teachers are going to be you know starting off with 1a we sent the schedule out they're about 10 minutes long and a 5-minute break in between so you can locate where you're going but use the link that is in your child's google classroom now why didn't we want to send out a whole bunch of links because we have had a problem with students getting a hold i shouldn't say if there are students we should say one of them was from maryland um students other people bombing different google classrooms so we're trying to keep a tight lid on those links so i didn't want to put one out and that's why we didn't do a google zoom um we've had some issues in danbury with those so we didn't want that to happen tonight so it was kind of just a 25 minute presentation so that's where you're going to go to using your child's google classroom link you'll be able to get in there obviously if you have any questions or concerns please email your child's administrators we'll make this this because i believe we're recording it it's also uh youtube mr miller thank you very much mr miller for doing this um you know online so you can go look and see what's administrator you would be talking to so with that uh you know let's have a great night and a great year and if you ever need anything from us please do not hesitate to to reach out and we'll make sure we get through this together so now you're off to block one at 6 30 which is in about one minute don't be late to first block
