uh pretty good running back i think he's rushed for i don't know almost a thousand yards probably almost i think it looks like 900 yards this year and uh scrappy guy we uh we saw the uh lozano touchdown run earlier and uh he picked up a great block it's uh uh nice job either picked up the i can't couldn't recall if it was the d end or the outside linebacker but a really good block to free up lozano to make that touchdown brothers and on this side of the horse three two three bless brothers [Music] thanksgiving yes i bet [Music] yeah you kind of wonder how they uh how you get around game planning i mean you know you're watching the replay every week for your brother so uh you'd expect they'd know more about each other's football team than maybe anybody else they play maybe maybe not but uh probably rooting for each other most most of the time except for tonight yeah they did a nice job of wrapping up lozano there he's you can see he's a quick kid i mean he there they run a little bit of the same a little bit of a kind of a read option and uh he's kept it a few times he's had some big runs tonight already really really gifted athlete looks like second nate that's the 84 he's the yeah they called it you guys might have heard the fans call call the hold and then the flags came out so maybe they're taking they officially are taking their direction from the top row here by the booth [Music] a couple moms down here telling the officials they did a good job yeah yeah that's good oh man it's uh it's really helpful sleep at night right sleep better [Music] he's gonna run yeah you can see it it's just athletic ability right i mean he shakes off a tackle there a miss tackle and it just does a great job of getting out to the outside quick i surrounded him there yeah he talked about the lozano kid a little earlier for the cougars and really athletic yeah he's a he's a refrain he he's a lot like the hammonds kid you know we watched uh hammond's kid play so many games this year already and they're very similar players they both have they throw it well they're you can see they're both really smart about when they decide to keep the ball or give it up um and when to throw it you know i think these these kids you know we've seen some duels this will be a good quarterback duel tonight [Music] couldn't tell i think it was scruggs helped him a little bit there a lot of work done by number 50 skruck's coming off the edge as well so great play they can keep him from getting points here it'll be a big big deal that's excited to be in there maybe just trying to get a coach you know high five you like it you like going for it fourth and two you're going aren't you you're going i knew you're going any guy that'll punt from his own 10 will go when he's on fourth and two yeah it's fourth and goal no they're not going in yeah great defense that's awesome [Music] really good defense yeah big play you

so you're a higher percentage of those students that were actively participating but once we run you know a couple months then we like to look at the numbers and more participation and that's where we'll be able to gauge better and then target where like i said we'll see it um we're not seeing it in any school a lot in school participation right now so when the students are attending school and they have lunch time everybody's getting free meals if they don't think they want they want it you know in their morning meeting and they can say that they like access to hot lunch it's available to everybody but again a lot of families are still bringing in lunch and it just may be apprehension and it's understandable this is you know we're all navigating a you know pandemic so again i think more and more that the more the kids are in the building and the more that they see the other kids eating or that they want you know that's how we'll get back to grow for sure and breakfast oh and breakfast too because currently breakfast is also free for everybody so that number will start to climb as well when families realize that they can have access to that or when the kids you know they do know we've been telling them but we just needed to kind of catch on we only had very few kids participate in years past in bolton for breakfast so now with it being free really gives us the opportunity to promote the program so that when it is no longer free we still have people that are interested in paying 1.25 for a breakfast are there other questions thank you though thank you all right hearing none ladies thank you very much deb and uh heather appreciate it very much and uh kiss those grandkids deb yeah have a good time i will thank you um i enjoy doing this immensely you're doing a great job and we appreciate it thank you guys very much okay bye good night next we are on to an update from bolton high school mr miceli good evening everyone here is a snapshot of our our numbers of students who have chosen the fully remote parallel and overall we're you know we're about a two percent increase for students staying home and that represents really only four students and we've had some students return while others go out and some of our subgroups have increased why others have decreased but that two percent is the is the overall for that i'll pause there before i go to the next slide there's any questions any of those numbers i'll bring in the same chart each week excuse me each month just with updated numbers okay um so we continue to see a lot of success with a hybrid model students are spaced out apart pretty pretty well even in our small rooms and i'm very proud of both our teachers and students who are doing a great job of managing remote at the same time that we're doing in school and teachers have used wednesday afternoons as well as our weekly plc's to share some really great ideas with each other some programs some successes and some struggles so our our professional collaboration continues uh even in these crazy times several weeks ago i had a lengthy call with charlene from charlene's portrait studio who is our our school photographer and we reflected on the success of the senior portraits that were taken last year um to give the students a special memory but also those those portraits became the cornerstone of the digital graduation ceremony that we put together so we looked at how we managed to do that in a safe way but also get quality photos and we developed a plan for our 9 through 11 9th through eleventh graders um so i know a lot of schools are not doing underclassmen photos or haven't tackled that yet um but again based on what we learned about doing it we have we've done it and we've had one day on tuesday um monday and our with the second half of the alpha but we'll be here tomorrow our remote learners have been invited after school one you know one at a time to come in the building as well so we've embraced them as well so we're we're excited about that and charlene has a completely touchless procedure for ordering and uh the images are actually getting drop shipped to families and my big motivation i think it's great if families purchase pictures but really is to uh you know maintain the quality of the yearbook by having those quality photos in there uh as jack mentioned we have some new rules in place for spectators and that's home games only no none of our bolton families can travel to other towns and only outdoor so for volleyball we've actually have a zoom system in place for families to watch the volleyball games i was actually sitting in a parking lot waiting for one of my children uh yesterday evening uh whether it was ballet or what it was but i tuned in and got to watch a little bit of the volleyball game over zoom so um i'd also like to share that the same is true for spectators um from other districts right spectators are only allowed at their home events for nccc correct athletic events um and my last item um is as you may recall last october we had our destiny annual visit from the new england association of schools and colleges and actually for us it was 11 years because they bumped us a year for that's a long story too after many delays and frustrations we finally received the final report over the summer and i'm happy to announce we're reaccredited the bolton high school team was very reflective and self-effacing and generated a very long list of things we wanted to improve and we'll be working on those items in advance of our two-year report actually we have actually completed some of the items on the to-do list before the visit was over and uh for some details on that i'd like to introduce our chairs of the nia steering committee to share some information it's jen carvalho and abby sacco hello um yeah so as joe mentioned we finally received our accreditation report i believe it was mid to end of june when we finally received the official report obviously the covid situation enclosures you know interrupted not only what we were doing but what the commission was doing and delayed all of their meetings on our status um so we apologize for the delay in getting the information to you but it took a while to get to us so just to review the process as joe mentioned um it was a year ago this week that the visiting team was at our school for three days three and a half days during which they collected a great deal of evidence to evaluate us on the standards that you see on the screen so the standards for accreditation focus on two major areas we have teaching and learning standards which look at our core values and beliefs about learning as a district in school our curriculum our instruction and assessment and then it also reviews support standards which focus on our school culture and leadership our school resources and then the community resources for learning um as they put together their judgment as to whether or not we are accredited they are pulling evidence from not only our self-study that we as a faculty completed but they met with groups of parents they met with students they shadowed students in classes they reviewed samples of student work um towards the facility um observations of classes so it really was a plethora of evidence that they that they drew from to make their final conclusion and as you will see on the screen they voted to award that our that bolton high school continues its accreditation in the new england association of schools and colleges so we are very happy about that they as as part of this accreditation process they release a final report it is about 97 pages long so we are going to do our best to highlight some of the accommodations in that report tonight some of their recommendations but we will say that the entire report is posted on the bolton high school webpage it's a little bit below the picture of the graduating class on there you can click on the link if you would like to read the entire 97 pages there was also a copy will also be forwarded to the town and a copy is forwarded to the connecticut state department of education so it exists in many places or will soon exist in many places but the easiest place right now for all of you to access it and read it in all its glory is on the school website um but as i said we're going to pull out some highlights tonight all right so some of the accommodations that we received from the visiting committee um was the fact that um we have a collaborative and a research based um dynamic process um to identify what the core values were um the beliefs and the 21st century expectations we have for our um all of our students as well as um the adoption of the mastery-based approach for student learning and that we give the students multiple opportunities to achieve proficiency the visiting committee also commended us on the achievement of standards in the focus of the instruction um towards those mastery-based approaches um the investment in atlas which is the curriculum management platform that um is used for us to organize and document and um keep track of all of our our school curriculum as well as the district-wide effort to identify the school's portrait of a graduate other commendations were um the impressive array of opportunities that we provide um the students to um demonstrate the that they are able to um master the transferable skills through different co-curricular activities and um inter-school athletics um also the great degree of caring that the teachers display and and have in their relationships with the students the fact that we have many opportunities that are afforded to the teachers for us to collaborate with one another um especially in our um professional learning community meetings on our plc's and that the school's commitment to providing adequate resources um so that we are supported in delivering our curriculum and again that focus on the vision of a bolton graduate and using that to progress towards those transferable skills additional commendations that they they um highlighted in the report was the dedicated and qualified professionals who support our students across the board so you know not just the teachers our paraprofessionals our school nurse our librarian every adult in the building they really were impressed with what they saw um they were happy with the use of a universal use of google classroom by all teachers and remember this was before we even shifted to distance learning so um you know they recognized this even back last october uh they obviously highlighted the the additions and the renovations made to bolton high school from the last nest visit that was 11 years prior um and anecdotally they were just impressed the entire visit we kept hearing um just how beautiful they thought the building was how well maintained and clean it was so they just they were really blown away by just the quality of our space um they commended the budgetary support given to the schools by the bolton community the district strategic plan that carried the district through 2020.

if this proposition passes it will bring in almost seven million dollars annually to our district and that will certainly be cause for celebration in these other way in these otherwise trying times thank you thank you okay um item 3.05 superintendent thank you board president i'm not going to take too much time i want to shout out and echo some of the comments we do have i believe we have the hardest working team in the state i do believe that and i've been visiting virtually a number of schools and i've been part of what teachers after school classified everybody has been able to put together and last week i attended one particular class that was just a joy to watch and to be part of i'm gonna i'm gonna shout out uh teacher arlene illa and kelsey roth roth god i'm sorry i'm not pronouncing her last name but kelsey you know what i'm talking about european fifth grade team i have seen many classes and many beautiful things happening in these very challenging times but what caught to my attention was how they were able to interweave the socio-emotional learning standards into their classroom and how they were able to engage sleepy fifth graders at eight at nine o'clock in the morning when they're not really ready to do much you know and where they just don't feel like leaving the blanket and you know kind of getting into math those beautiful teachers were able to touch the students hearts and minds so that they engage and after the exercise that they use they were able to be up and ready to learn so i want to thank all teachers but especially these two beautiful teachers in addition to all the support staff and all our partners because it was truly a teamwork i know this is just one example of the wonderful things that are happening in our district thank you everybody hey thank you dr bauer now item four point uh what is the number the question are comments from the board 3.1606 yes i lost it on my screen over here um so any comments from the board trustee era yes thank you president um good evening alum rock community as many of you who are here last week with us at our special board meeting um remember you know i mentioned that our alum rock community has been hit with many tragedies these last two weeks um and they've been huge um they've been huge we've lost many in our community um although one is too many you know these have been many in one week um and i just wanted to take the time to think anya you know i know jocelyn mentioned that um you know teachers have been brought to tears and i believe it you know uh because many of us you know and i know like as parents those of you listening to me i've been brought to tears you know with my 11 year old on some so many of us are struggling um and you know i want to take the time to thank anya uh for coordinating our student services department you know to provide resources and services to our students and i know one of the parents mentioned that um you know we needed to do that and so i just want to make sure that parents know that we have resources that if you feel out of control that if you feel like your child you know is um needing special support we have that support um you know i don't want to lose any more of our children anymore of our youth due to those stressors and just being too much for them you know as adults we can get in our car and say i'll be back you know our kids can't our kids are stuck with us as parents our kids are stuck with you know whatever they have in their you know if they say can't just get up and go i know my 11 year old can't i would never allow her to just get up and go right and so there's stressors there's you know something's out of our control but i want you to remember that we have support here uh please let any one of us know please call me um you know if you don't know who to turn to or where to go um dr bauer our district staff are ready to answer the calls um we don't want to lose any more of our children and so i just wanted to make sure that i mentioned that um also thank you community thank you counting you know it looks like we're shifting sooner than later into tier orange which is going to open up our county a little more right and um you know it feels good and at the same time a little scary because it's happening before uh you know times that many of our families gather so even though we're opening up it doesn't mean that it's safe to just gather and just hang out you know with people we still get to be safe we still get to social distance we still get to wear our masks um to keep our community opening up right back to where we were at at one point hopefully sooner than late so those are just some some of the things i want to mention thank you so much and uh i look forward to continuing to push through as a community as alan rock thank you okay thank you any other comments from the board okay i don't see any so we can move on to item through uh four point i think somebody i don't know no i have one oh i'm sorry yeah trusty was that trustee chavez chavez okay trustee chavez i just want to thank all the teachers and the parents and the students for all their efforts and working together and just keeping the focus and the goal on the student learning thank you all that's it thank you okay so now i think we can move forward to item 4.0 2 approved second reading of border policy several items there is there a motion to approve item 4.02 motion to approve okay there's a motion is there a second second okay mr gill is there any are there any comments on item 4.02 none okay um any questions or comments from the board on 4.02 okay so then i'll go ahead oh trusty marquez if we can unmute trusty marquez please is she unmuted on our end mr gill oh there you go okay when you were asking comments from us on the last item uh i um if we had any comments we were all making our comments i kept saying hello hello so this is only two thank you it's um i i i've been one of the people that i have that have heard a lot from the parents in the other spectrum that are have been really frustrated with this distant learning we talked about that last last month whether it was human error or whether it was technology or whatever but i just want to thank those parents that have reached out to me and um if you are listening uh please hang in there um even us here on the meetings we have problems you know with the technology of it and it does take some you know some time to get used to doing these so um if you could please um uh hang in there with us i know it's difficult times um please i've had two families that said that this is too difficult for them they don't know how to help their child they feel like leaving and i i have i have i don't know with my heart i tell these parents reach out for student services with norma flores she's the director and she's very very good you know and and working with the parents reach out to her and so i'm hoping that these parents are reaching out to norma um for the help that these parents need but mostly it's it's either child care or it's either technology and they don't know how you know to sit there and help their parent their their children with you know with their work it's either they they don't read english or the child is too young and doesn't read um a couple of them were from kinder so um they're not readings but there's problems with this distant learning and and i hear jocelyn talking about teachers frustration and i'm hearing parents frustration as well so all i can say is to the community and to the teachers to bear with us and i know that we'll get through this it's um it'll take some doing but we'll get there if not keep asking keep asking for help thank you thank you and did you have comments on 4.02 or you were just catching up from the previous one i was catching up on the previous one we were all making comments you know and then on and on 4.2 this is only the second reading are you taking it up for action or bringing it back um i think it's for action unless there's any other modifications that anybody wants to propose at this point i think we could take action on it or we could bring it back for a third reading if someone has a modification to make i i i had a question that i did not get back to dr bauer um when we had our one-on-one and uh i wrote it down and i couldn't find it as i was going through my pages i must wrote it in and left it in the living room but um that's okay um i'll um i'll i'll just let it go so thank you anyway okay thank you um any other questions or comments from the board on 4.02 okay so then we do have a motion in seconds so we'll go ahead and call for the vote i'll call it as i see it on my screen trustee chavez hey trusty hi trusty marquez yes yes i actually don't see trustee quintero are you in here yes i am i other okay and myself i motion passes unanimously um we move on to item 4.03 second reading uh for board policy sexual harassment personnel is there a motion on this item motion to approve okay is there a second second second from trustee quintero mr gill do we have any comment on this item none okay thank you any questions or comments from the board on four point zero three okay i do not see any trustee marquez or trustee quintero i don't see anything so um i'll go ahead and call for the vote trustee chavez hi trustee i'm trustee marquez hi trustee quintero and myself yes so motion passes unanimously item 4.04 uh another second reading for board policy sexual harassment students is there a motion on this item i wanted to come back again there was something what was deleted in the first two paragraphs on page three of that item i would like to it to be put back in okay so we can um bring that back so we will not take action this month um we'll bring it back next month for a third reading with the modification requested by trustee chavez and may i ask very just so that we can i can follow up with staff trustee chavez uh are you gonna have any further edits or is that that's what you want just last night when i spoke to you we we went over the uh on the third page to just put those two paragraphs back in yeah i just want to be clear so that people know what your edits are yes thank you thank you okay thank you so we'll move on to item 4.05 um this is information only board update concerning ethnic studies committee um so dr bauer i'll turn this one over to you um the board has a resolution regarding ethnic studies back i believe it was july and i'm very pleased to you wanted an update by october so i'm bringing an update to you regarding the ethnic studies um the people who are going to be helping us lead and help us gather a committee because there's no committee yet it's the leads it's dr ivan montes principal from san antonio and miss camille fontanilla from somos made the executive director of somos mayfair and parent at adelante one uh and i know that dr montes has a brief presentation for the board and for the public to roll out their plan on how they're gonna gather the committee so if i'm if it's okay uh board president are they okay to present what they need to say right now uh sure do we need a powerpoint also screen sharing okay yes so let's um allow that mr gill and um unmute miss dr montez and maybe miss fontania i'm not sure she's also gonna need her microphone unmuted as well um but dr montez and esfantania janis whenever your information is up and you're ready you have the floor perfect uh thank you superintendent uh bauer uh members of the board uh community and parents i am pulling up the presentation now and i will share my screen so we're super excited to be here with you all tonight to provide an update regarding the ethnic studies committee that is under that is being developed here at alam rock and the purpose of this update as dr bauer mentioned is per the board approval uh the board resolution on june 11 2020 which uh directed us to establish an ethnic studies committee and uh per that resolution the purpose of this committee is as follows the stakeholder group will research ethnic studies curriculum review relevant materials consider the scope of piloting the curriculum with the ultimate goal of presenting a recommendation to the superintendent and ultimately the alum rock union elementary school board of education so this is our charge part of that process as outlined in the resolution is to provide ongoing and regular updates to to the board such as we are tonight so in the initial development of the structure of the how this committee timeline will look like um it's as follows so here you see the timeline uh beginning in november as we're still in october and we're in the initial stages of establishing the committee but our hope is that by november we would have established the committee we would have um recruited and selected the members um and with the goal of meeting the purpose as proposed by the board resolution by november of 2021 the aim of this committee is to have to very much include stakeholders and have a uh network of networks uh framework which we'll go into in this presentation but essentially committee members would be expected to function as leads engaging their peers and stakeholders within their given stakeholder network to provide ongoing research recommendations that they will then bring and submit to to the committee uh during the committee meetings it is our intent that this process be open to the public uh be fully transparent and be one where our community is able to engage in which would include public comment and language services as needed we also hope to welcome ongoing submission for ideas perspectives questions are concerned uh throughout this timeline process and it is our hope that within the above mentioned timeline we can begin to meet the charge as outlined by the board i'm going to hand it over to uh my colleague who will go into the next portion of this presentation good evening everyone my name is camille janis fontenia a parent at adelante one and the executive director of somos mayfair um as mentioned earlier i apologize my camera is not on so i will just uh speak from my photo box um this is the promote the proposed committee structure again like dr month has explained we are envisioning a network of networks which what we mean by that is having a lead committee of members about eight people who represent these different stakeholder groups alum rock teachers college or university educators to help support in curriculum and thinking through that representative from the santa clara county office of education foundations or community-based organization representatives and parents and students and other community members dr monthas and i will co-chair this committee the committee lead members will be representative of these stakeholder groups as well as the ethnic representation of our student body we also expect that the lead members on this committee engage their network of peers within each of these stakeholder groups to help us broaden the engagement and gather greater input than any one individual can provide next slide please uh we believe that the role of committee committee members um in a lead role are to attend all the ethnic study committee meetings prepared to in and prepare to engage with them and there will be a total of four meetings we also hope that lead members will coordinate facilitate and engage their peers in their own stakeholder network meetings there could be a minimum of three of these but committee members can have more if they would like from these stakeholder meetings with their network peers we hope that they come back to each ethnic studies committee meeting providing insights perspectives and recommendations based on what was discussed at those stakeholder meetings as well as any shared readings we do as a committee in any research we conduct collectively our committee will deliver an ethnic studies framework that includes vision purpose policy and key pillars guiding the district's future implementation of an ethnic studies initiative hopefully beginning in the 2022-2023 school year so for individuals who are interested uh in participating we this is an open call we we have outlined some applicant criteria uh because what we're committed to is in ensuring that the people who are going to live this reality um have a voice in crafting the reality being the stakeholders that we outlined above and so some of the working applicant criteria is ensuring that folks who who seek to serve on the committee have a strong connection to the alamark union school district community as in a teacher parent student staff community community or philanthropic partner the having the ethnic representation that ensures a proportional representation to the students we serve which given the charge we have we think that is important furthermore uh ensuring that the representation that it also follows proportional representation to the grade levels that we serve meaning we're seeking to to balance um within the committee uh to ensuring that not all representation on the committee is from one or representing a particular great band but there's a a pretty diverse representation in terms of grade parents who have students in particular grades or staff who work on particular who teach in particular great spans the ability and commitment to engage for the entirety of the process given that the timeline is within the scope of the year we hope that if someone chooses to step up and participate in the the lead role uh not necessarily in the subsequent forums but in the lead role that they commit to engaging in the process in its entirety um and also we we we seek to uh find uh leads who have experience in in studying developing and or implementing ethnic studies programs and or initiatives and this is something that we hope to prioritize as we go through the the applicant criteria um the process for applying um this is an open call for applications and we hope to accept applications until october 31st we will have a google form that will go live hopefully on the district's website and also paper copies at the school sites um we will also promote this i know that this is a big question that comes up in our community how will this be promoted so people know emails calls to teachers staff and community partners we would like to use parent square the district website and robocalls and texts as appropriate as well as the alan rock on social media pages again we'll accept the applications through google form submission or hard copy whatever is easier for the applicants we will review these applications as the co-chairs and we'll screen through the criteria that was just presented by dr montez selected members would be notified by email or phone call and we hope to announce the selected members at your november 12 board meeting individuals who are not selected to be leads on the committee we hope can continue to participate in public forums as well as the stakeholder group meetings um so we feel like this is a very robust process to include as many voices as possible again i just we want to take the time to just thank the board thank you superintendent and community who have advocated for for this initiative um it is our honor and privilege to to serve our community with this initiative and we look forward to uh to working with our with our uh partners to ensure that we uh provide um we live up to the purpose of the board resolution uh by the outline timeline and we're available for questions thank you very much it looks like we started our public comment there also as well i hear a little a little voice there that has something to say but before we oh there we go our newest alum rock member there so cute okay so um before we get to questions and comments from the boards from the board do we have comments public comment um on this item mr jill yes there is one veronica okay okay veronica uh once we have the clock up and you begin speaking your two minutes will begin mighty bit there we go okay so do uh yeah whenever you're ready veronica you um we're ready to you hear go uh barely it's it sounds like it's a little bit of a bad connection say something again can you hear me now oh there we go that's better we can hear you can you hear me now yes yes yes yes we can hear you great i think my headphones were not working um so i i was saying thank you so much to dr montez and to camille um mrs montana for presenting this this is great i think um and again thank you for putting it in the agenda um as something that is continuous um i do want to make a couple suggestions on as far as like the way that we are engaging as students as we know that many of our students sometimes might not be able to see it the parents wear or might not have parents that see it and i was wondering maybe we can support as a community if we can present it in their in their classes as well and to see if it's something that students will be interested because i think this is so essential that we have that we have um students voices highlighted especially when it comes to ethnic studies learning and them deciding as well and having that voice and many of the times we don't have that opportunity so maybe collaborating with um our middle schools and even our elementaries representing this information to them and also if we can present this information in other languages outside of the board meeting for parents to know as well um maybe having it in the cafetos um you know just in different ways that it just the application just doesn't go out but the whole presentation is presented to families um and i think my last question is would uh participants that do not get selected will they know why they weren't selected um because that would be also another way of kind of giving providing that feedback to the community of like hey you know just extra feedback with that transparency um and that is it thank you so much okay thank you any other comments mr joe yes okay once you begin speaking your two minutes will begin can you hear me yes okay so i just wanted to say thank you the for the presentation it was i i really like the way that you guys are projecting and involving all the skate holders parents students teachers and uh and also to leave it open to the public to participate even though they're not selected you just like any other committee that we have like doc did like in other communities and uh i just want to say that it also will be important to uh make sure we have um uh either teachers or uh from all the schools you know like not only i know that you guys say from great levels but i think it's also important to uh make sure we have that as we usually have in the other committees representation from uh most of the schools so if we have more representation and also i i like that that if you have experience on things like you can make this better like you know i i i think it's a good idea but i i would like to see uh more schools participating on this thank you okay thank you mr gill next comment is gilbert gonzalez okay miss gonzalez when you begin speaking your two minutes will begin good evening i'm board members i'm return of students on the anubra school district um thank you dr montez and miss fontanilla for the presentation and actually thinking throughout the whole process right since how to involve community how to make sure this is a spread above and beyond and using all the methods that we can to involve parents teachers community members and even county people because nobody thinks about them i just want to see that i would like to see and also bring the translation which is really important for people to participate i do believe that this is a great opportunity not only for everybody but also especially parents and students so i would like to see some students involvement as well i maybe i lost that part but i didn't hear about them so let's bring our students to to the table they are the ones that cannot get benefit from this and thank you very much have a really good evening thank you mr gill next comment none no more numerous okay okay um so do we have any questions or comments from the board trustee yes thank you uh gosh i'm so excited um i was just to see it on the on the in the board book um you know to see it come to um to this point you know to see the map as to how we'll come you know alive and our children will be sitting in in class learning about these things eventually um diesel actually mentioned a lot of things that i was thinking um i did write one of uh dr monte's quotes on there which i really like thank you dr montes and camille for uh providing such a detailed presentation well thought out you know i appreciate that um you know all the amount of time that it deserves right that this deserves so that it's implemented in a way that it's here beyond us right and so you put a quote there that said people who are going to live this reality are going to have a voice in crafting the reality um so thank you for putting that in there i mean it goes along with the isa's comment about you know um if you thought about having a student on there um you know or are you open to having at least a student or two in the committee okay um i'm not sure was that last part uh a question or was it part of just a comment no it's a question mr montez especially because he had that uh quote on there yeah absolutely i i think that very much aligns in the spirit of how we approach this you know when we go back to that quote it it very much embodies ensuring that our students as a public school principal you know we serve the community we serve the students and um it would be important to to us to to ensure that they're represented within this process as well in a a as an equal stakeholder and i would just add from a logistical perspective i think um two things we can consider is is having middle school representation on the committee itself depending on how large the body gets but i think one thing we can also ensure that happens is one of the dedicating one of the stakeholder group meetings in between the committee meetings to just be specifically about um student voice um where students from the entire district can be invited to participate in that um and i would also say we can do that with teachers um i know there was a question about you know will we have representation from every school with the teachers and i think um full transparency i think the reason why we set forth a committee that's smaller in nature with leads is to be really thoughtful about what both dr montez and i can manage in terms of the number of folks to make sure that we can continue to move a process forward however we can also dedicate one of those stakeholder group meetings um to being you know broadly um inclusive of all teachers um i love it i love it um yeah so uh thank you so much and i look forward you know to supporting in any way i can if i can anyway thank you for the update and i look forward to hearing all the many more updates to come okay thank you any other questions or comments from board members um i'm looking i don't see trustee marquez or trustee quintero i don't see any signs oh okay trustee quintero now i see your thumbs up so i think you're unmuted there you go yes i am so i just want to thank uh folks for the work that you've done on putting this together looking forward to seeing the work that's going to come as a result of the of the committee that's ultimately formed and looking forward to see that composition of the committee being brought forth to the sport thanks okay any other questions or comments from the board okay uh so see none um i'll just i had a couple of comments last question so first of all i want to thank both of you for obviously your your hard work that you've already put into this and not only hard hard work but smart work i think the way that it's that you've outlined it and put it together and structured it and kind of strategized it makes a lot of sense and um i particularly want to appreciate um mrs janes fontania and and her public there um that the comment that you made about really focusing on structuring it in such a way that we can take um you know have that input but also continue to move it forward because i think that's um i mean i just think that's very wise to keep those things in mind to make sure that we are actually able to sooner than later get an actual well-developed product that we can implement and begin to um you know get the true the true value out of so thank you for that the only question-ish that i had um is just with regards to the proportional representation i know that our african-american population in the district is it may disproportionately math-wise number wise i don't know that that would get us a representative just because i think and i could be wrong but i think the numbers are are low but however obviously because of you know things that everything we've gone through in the past months i just want to make sure and i'm sure you've already thought this through but that we folk emphasize and focus on our african-american community and make sure that if need be regardless of the proportionality of the numbers that we have the appropriate meaningful representation of that population as well so yeah so that's all i had for that thank you both again with that i think we are good to move on to our next item thank you um so we are moving to item [Music] 4.06 another information only item kind of i guess transitioning from that my last comment racial equity committee um so do we have a report um a report back on that miss dr bauer i'll turn it over to you for that thank you so i'm very pleased to share with everybody i shared with the board one on one the co-leads for each of the committees and i really appreciate the board's on these names miss ana nguyen it's the principle of renaissance at madison she will be co-leading with miss veronica talton one of our amazing music teachers and we're very very pleased that they both accepted this role so i'm going to turn it over to them because as you see our stuff is amazing thank you thank you dr bauer for the very kind introduction i'm going to start by sharing my screen to ensure that folks are able to see the presentation and i'll go into the present mode great all right good evening ellen rock board trustees dr bauer district and community leaders my name is anna wynne and i am the proud principal of renaissance academy at madison and i am also proudly one of the co-leads of the racial equity committee and then miss calton would you mind introducing yourself good evening everyone i'm veronica taulton a visual and performing arts instructor at joseph george middle school and lindell elementary next slide the alum rock education association reactivated its equity and human and civil rights committee in the 2019-2020 school year areas human and civil rights committee members presented a resolution on july 9 to the arusd board with a focus on black lives matter at school which you see here on the slide the creation of the ar usd racial equity committee is a direct result of this work and one in which i'm proud to say i played a role with other area colleagues lynn white toby nielsen and maimona afz alberta as an african-american educator and arusd employee i'm deeply committed to culturally relevant and anti-biased teaching and i'm honored to serve as a co-lead on this racial equity committee next slide so our draft vision um as cultivated between uh miss dalton and i have been cultivated with the recognition of the challenge within our district over the past three years a variety of district and school site leaders have engaged in and promoted learning that has been beneficial for adults and students who are typically marginalized within white dominant structures we have explored cultural proficiency trauma-informed education and social-emotional learning as an entire organization however we have not been able to pinpoint a district-wide approach to strengthen our school's climate in relation to students teachers and community members ethnicity and cultural identities we aim to lead the charge as a racial equity committee in bringing culturally responsive and anti-racist pedagogy so our students can feel seen and heard as their most authentic selves the education to end hate initiative was launched by state superintendent tony thurman and was designed to empower educators and students to confront hate bigotry and racism rising in community communities across the state and nation our committee applied for an educator training mini grant and will create partnerships with community leaders parents and students to leverage the power of education to create a more just society our mission is posted here on the slides for your review next slide please the racial equity committee is partnering with organizations similar to the national equity project for initial planning workshops and arusd will also seek the thought partner's consultation about an implementation plan that will take place from 2020 through 2023 this how it works slide explains the theory of change and you notice it's going in waves even as they say the coronavirus is going in ways we're seeking to make change in a positive way in waves so the national equity project is a bay area organization whose mission is to transform the experiences outcomes and life options for children and families who've been historically underserved by our institutions and systems the racial equity committee feels that the national equity project's mission and values closely align with our own and it is our hope that we will be recipients of the education to end hate mini grant which will allow us to engage in the work according to the national equity project's executive director lashon rutay chapman undergirding the theory of change is the profound belief that people have the capacity to solve the problems that matter to them it rests on developing leaders to move with greater agency confidence skill and knowledge and for them to see to engage and to act differently in their systems to achieve this transformation next slide thank you veronica for introducing the theory of change in terms of how this will work within our district we know that our vision of implementing anti-racist education and fostering confidence around ethnic and cultural identity involves intentional efforts and i'm proud for us ms colton and i to work in alignment with dr montez and mrs fontenia the ethnic studies committee leads as well as leaders like miss martinez miss tran and dr carrillo who are working towards creating an inclusive environment for our students and families to clarify our work is happening parallel to the efforts that have already been discussed and introduced the work of racial equity committee is focused on anti-racist and anti-bias training for the educators within our district we believe that by providing a common framework and a universal language that all educators in our district can utilize to engage in courageous conversations and restorative practices will uphold our students identity and support relationship building among diverse populations we plan to implement this work over three years as mrs talton has explained if our vision is to foster joy and confidence in our students we need to ensure that the adults directly supporting them in school spaces know how to approach the work we believe that if we have a solid school year to collect data within the planning year have schools focus in i'm sorry have focus schools engage in equity-based professional development in the second year we will be best able to position ourselves to implement this district-wide because we have a chance to be able to see what this learning will look like within the focused schools that we identify based on the data that we collect so this is just a microscopic view of what our planning year would look like in order for us to approach this work strategically and to stay informed about our progress we need a solid set of data collection between you know in terms of us being able to understand what is the reality our current students are facing and our current teachers are facing and how are we growing from that data point we plan for this data to be analyzed by the racial equity committee so alongside with uh miss totten and i we plan also just like dr monsez and miss fontania have already described we also plan to have a committee that will be in the position to support us in implementing anti-racist and anti-bias training across the focused schools so in terms of our tangible next steps um we understand that perhaps releasing two applications around the same time in relation to racial justice or in terms of being able to acknowledge different diverse populations within our school and building that strong confident identity around ethnicity and culture ms talton and i will release our application at the next board meeting and be able to describe further the criteria which may sound fairly similar to what dr mullen says and mrs lonzania have already described because again we're working in alignment with each other in order for us to build a robust environment where students feel seen and heard and valued we think this work must come from many fronts so in terms of us being able to release the application november we hope to be able to review it by november 30th or review all applications that are due by november 30th to announce based on a committee of folks that will be reviewing the applications to announce at the december board meeting who would be a part of this group to support us with this implementation in the meantime ms helton and i will be working with different district leaders and school leaders to consider the survey that we're going to utilize and implement and how to disseminate that in time for students for us to collect and review at our first committee meeting if you are interested in serving on the racial equity committee applications will be available on november 12th and must be submitted on or before november 30th again we are seeking qualified and diverse individuals from the arusd family to collaborate with for any questions please reach out to miss winn or myself we thank you in advance for your support and cooperation thank you very much for your presentation awesome awesome before we uh go to questions or comments from the board uh we'll go ahead and see if we have a public comment i'm sure we do mr gill do we have comment on this item here's something we have two okay so maribel can we get the clock up and who is the first comment from mr gill tamara shane okay i do shin did you say it's the last name um i don't know if i pronounce this correctly s-c-h-a-n-e [Music] okay um now what was the first name i'm sorry i got an echo on that tomorrow oh i see tamara shane okay machine i hope we're pronouncing it close um when you're ready and you begin speaking your two minutes will begin thank you i wanted to thank you um he was told in this win um for that incredibly thoughtful presentation and it really just warms my heart and i want to say with the deepest gratitude how happy i am to see this happening um i'm a public interest non-profit attorney at the la foundation of silicon valley and i represent hundreds of students in your district i'm also a member of the uh the investor racial equity and alan rock coalition schools now coalition and i'd like to ask that we invest for racial equity in alan rock schools coalition i'm considered as part of the committee it's made up of parents and teachers and stakeholders in the allen rock school district and i just really wanted to again thank you for your thoughtful presentation for all the work that's gone into um creating this this um committee and to uh really investing in black lives matter and restorative justice and anti-racist teaching in the district um you've got a lot of support and we we really do thank you for doing this for all your time and hard work thank you thank you mr gill next comment is veronica okay veronica when you begin speaking your two minutes will begin okay um thank you so much aboard and thank you to miss holten and miss nuen as well this was um a great presentation and thank you so much for taking um the lead on this i know it's not the um racial equity and racial justice is not ac work to do and it is one that needs to be seen within ourselves first before we try to implement it anywhere else i'm also a member of the reimbursement for racial equity and island rock schools now coalition and um just like the previous um the previous comment i also urge you to not just leave it to students or educators but also involve our families our families also should be getting that survey of the way that you know how they feel because if we're building within the student we also want to build outside within their also ecosystem right um and i um i have full representation as well within all the schools and not um not just a few but all schools as all schools can have different challenges and obstacles but they can also bring um you know different solutions and different representation and um both of you understand that as both of you belong to different schools and know um you know i'm sure that you guys had had those conversations so again i urge you to know just stop with students but follow with parents and stakeholders um it is essential that we include the whole ecosystem around a student as around a child when it comes to racial equity when it comes to racial justice so thank you so much thank you mr gill uh do we have another comment or more comments oh yes we have a few okay david williams hey mr williams when your microphone is unmuted and you begin speaking your two minutes will begin okay i think i do got it uh wonderful presentation as i said before i'm a parent over at adelante uh and yes i'm one of those uh black folks that are in the bay in the south bay uh i would love if anybody you need my help again just call on me anything you need i'm there to help especially in this department uh with it with everything that's going on i am previously from minneapolis and i grew up on those streets where george floyd was actually killed and was victimized by the same police department so if we can help any kid feel that it's okay to be who they are i'm down for it so just call on me let me know hey thank you mr williams uh mr gill next person here's brenda zander house okay um and superintendent um i love this presentation thank you to everyone that worked so hard on this and um i'm glad to see that we're having these conversations and there's actions um i want to um applaud you guys for all your work um and i do recommend that um this training or these conversations are also within ourselves right even as board members i think we have to learn about racial equity and um know how this will be implemented before we can implement it among our kids i think and i would just suggest that all board members sit on these maybe rotate and be present for these conversations that i think help us grow help us grow as individuals that's all i'm going to say today and thank you and i'm really proud of the work that the staff is doing with rachel equity thank you thank you mr gill next person ms gonzalez when you begin speaking your two minutes will begin good evening members on the board once again parent of two students in the annual school district i want to thank um that teacher for a wonderful presentation i love the idea behind it and i think yes i would like to um just to urge you that it takes along with parents students and also board members and staff i think that um i also want to thank you for taking it with a seriousness that it is needed we need this kind of conversation truthful and honest conversations and when we and um maybe that question will be when we going to be able for prayer how would that look like why everybody has access to i'm sorry too sorry to interrupt and miss i'm sorry to interrupt if you can maybe we'll pause the clock or give you your time but if you can uh repeat your comments about the past 20 seconds because it got really chopped up there and i don't want to miss okay can you hear me now yes okay thank you very much um president um um so once again jess wanted to encourage um as much participation as possible and as more spread of the word of this community to parents and community i know that as hispanics and minorities we are the most impacted by all these all this and it will be amazing that we keep this movement going thank you again for a wonderful presentation and for bringing this important issues to light and actually taking matters and not just talking about it have a really good evening thank you next comment mr gill okay thank you everyone um so are there questions or comments from the board trustee um if you don't mind if i can just make a brief comment and then i'll take a bio break and then um and then happy to take over during that time perfect so um well you know what i'll i'll wait for now and then after this no say it okay i wanted to i want you to take care of yourself be a good example okay so i first just wanted to thank also um miss nguyen and miss talton for the presentation obviously very thoughtful and strategic and and you know i want to acknowledge that in addition this is an addition to your just regular work that you do and i know that it's not easy to put this level of of thought and intentionality into something beyond your you know 40 or 50 or 70 hour week whatever it may be so i really want to appreciate that um and also echo i think some comment that i heard from the community in that i think sometimes when when there are movements or energy or things that happen in society and and initially there's a lot of of energy and passion and movement but it's always a challenge it's not always that doesn't always translate into action and implementation long term and so that's why for for this particular presentation and the prior one too i really um want to thank our our staff and people that are working on on these items for actually moving the ball forward and make making sure that it's not just you know as someone said not just talk but actually doing something um i appreciate that about this work because i know the challenge that it is to do that in a in a a meaningful way so thank you both and i will pass it over to vice president herrera and i'll return shortly thank you take your time no running or anything like that don't worry about that just want to really take the time also to thank each and every one of you um what president already mentioned some of the things i know it takes you know especially those of us who have passion for these things you know we kind of sign up for extras all the time and so um you know being one of those that does that you know i really appreciate the time the effort um to again you know make sure that we implement something that stays here for generations to come and i really you know my my heart my spirit is happy connected to all of my ancestors who are just like really excited you know and happy that um that they're they're seeing this work you know happening right now in this moment you know before in the beginning of the school year it was just a dream you know that a lot of us had you know and it wasn't like you know brought this and made this happen it was like we all had this dream right um and i'm just happy you know that it happened in the way that it happened you know whoever brought you know some of us brought the resolution forward some of us added to them and where it's at now i mean we've we've acted fast and um fast but in a very thoughtful way sometimes you know when things are hap you know happen with you know uh urgency sometimes they don't take the time people you know don't take the time to make sure that it's a thoughtful process and and you have all done that so thank you i'm sure too many hours to get to our app i'm excited to hear about you know uh possible funding you know to come through um and like those are things i didn't even think about right and so that's exciting and you know why not why not have things like this funded and not just you know a small brand but big grant creativity issues linda can you put yourself on you please i don't think she hears me okay so i'll try to be a little louder um so yeah just thank you for that i'm excited to be a part of this process you know for the longest creator allows me to be as a parent as a community member um because i know it'll be here beyond me and so um thank you for your time and i look forward to supporting as well anything i can do let me know otherwise i'll stay here patiently you know i want to be one of the parents you know getting involved but i know that i get to wait for the updates and then you know be a part of in that way so thank you so much for vice president can i highlight something yes please so just so that the public knows and the board knows these two ladies um are amazing and when we talk about the grant uh i received the grant on a friday afternoon i think from the cde and they it was a super quick turnaround it's one of those things that you know we can't wait and um i forward that to them thinking you know if you have a chance if you please you know it was like uh i felt for them because both of them you know when when board president says you know the the it's more than 40 hours an hour is more than 15 more than 60 right so i want to shout out that both of them immediately got to it and they submitted it on time a very strong grand application and i want to thank on behalf of alum rock and our students and families that hopefully will benefit from that it's really it will really great uh enhance the work that we're going to be able to do for that still working for to look and see if we can find some monies grant monies to finance more ethnic studies training so thank you very much thank you um anybody else any of the other members raise your hand travis if you'd like to speak um or andres uh no just i wanted to thank the folks that have been moving forward um i appreciate the extra effort that you're all putting in to go out there and seek that funding um looking forward to seeing the involvement of you know i'll just leave it at that thank you all for the great work you're doing thank you seeing none we'll go ahead and uh move on to item 501 uh the think together preschool program uh dr bauer i'm assuming that you will take the lead on this or we'll call somebody else so this is basically um the grant funding for our preschool program in adelante one in adelanta too we opened those two programs last year i think together was the lead in this partnership they're the one delivering the services so i'm asking the board this is just part of the same grant agreement that we entered last year this is year number two i'm asking the board to respectfully approve this contract remove approval second moved by quintero in second by marquez uh public comment avatar is there anybody on for public comment there's none [Music] i know sometimes they take a while to raise their hand so i just want to confirm uh after there's no one on public comment right none okay um see now none on public comment do you do we have um any of our trustees including myself we're on 5.01 yes board comments now or questions do you have any questions mr van damme okay seeing none um you answered my question dr bauer you know that is just continuing so thank you for that um so sing then i'll call for the um vote i'll start with chavez she's on the phone if you could give a thumbs up or thumbs down i'll come to you at the end otherwise that's absent uh my zoom is out can you hear me you can hear me we can see you and hear you we can see you can hear you so i can barely hear you okay so i i didn't hear what you're doing so just move on i guess but don't count me as absent no i'm sorry so you heard that you heard absent so i'm probably abstain anyways we'll get to that at the end if you still can't hear we'll try you at the end yeah i'm trying to i'm trying to connect by phone thank you awesome okay we're voting mr myself i i will go back to chavez i or no um what do we do at this time is it abstain or i'll probably just count her as an extension okay so abstention for chavez um moving on uh board president mehrano do you want to uh take it over do you want me to continue yeah i'm happy i think you just um just report back the results of the vote and then i'll i'll go ahead and take it back nice okay so uh it was passed uh four to one abstention by chavez okay and i will hand it over back to board president i know before you take over could you please note for the minutes that the abstention from trustee chavez was done due to the technical problems they're having so that it's not was her choice but the recommendation from legal counsel good idea thank you mark thank you maribel make sure you get that down please thank you trustee marquez and you have not entered any numbers please re-enter your meeting she said she can't hear us huh okay okay so we'll move forward to item 6.01 learning continuity and attendance plan for aptitude community academy dr bauer do you this is a just a requirement because aptitude is district dependent charter is the same el cap that the board approved in our special board meeting in september so i'm asking the board to respectfully approve the the plan for president second motion in a second uh do we have public comment on this item mr gill none okay thank you so are there questions or comments from the board on this item item 6.01 okay i don't see any and and my question that i had was already answered by dr bauer it's basically the same that we approve for the district it's just um procedurally we need to do this one separately so if there are no questions or comments from the board i'll go ahead and call for the vote as i see you on my screen trustee chavez she still may be having problems we'll maybe come back trustee aye trustee quintero hi trustee marquez i myself i trustee charles can you hear us [Music] can you hear trusty chavez okay it looks like she's still having problems so we'll have to also go with abstain due to technical challenges um on trustee chavez's and similar to the previous item if we can get that down muddy bit so motion passes four to one with one abstention kind of forced abstention um by trustee chavez due to technical difficulties okay uh thank you so we'll move on to item 7.01 resignations um are there any this is information only but do we have any public comment on this item mr gill 7.01 okay any questions or comments from the board on 7.01 i don't see anything and i'm hoping trustee chavez can hear but um i'm assuming she has nothing can you hear trusty chavez okay well this is information only and i don't see any other questions or comments from the board so we'll move ahead to the consent calendar is there a motion to approve the consent calendar option to approve second second so there's a motion a second to approve um is there any public comment on any items on the consent calendar none 8.01 through 8.08 okay i'll just give it another second or two just because that's i don't know i saw um chavez waving her hand i'm not sure okay can you hear us now yeah thank you okay so just fyi um one other item that we did item what'd i miss what are we on we're on consent calendar on item 6.01 we passed that and we did that we did the same for you for 6.01 and 5.01 which was abstention and we noted that it was due to technical difficulties on your end okay thank you so now we're on we did 701 resignations now we're just any other com any comments from the public on the consent calendar at this point trust i mean mr gill no okay so um and there was nothing from the board so we have a motion and a second to pass the consent calendar so i'll call you as i see you on my screen for the vote trustee chavez hi trustee herrera hi trustee quintero hi and trustee marquez hi and myself i motion passes unanimously so the consent calendar passes um so we can move and i might need a little a little nudging here mr release but i think at this point we can move to um item nine closed session so we can take um public comment on any items in closed session first of all so do we have any public comment mr gill for any of closed session items none okay so what we'll need to do at this point if and correct me if i'm wrong mr gayle or dr bauer is we'll we will go into closed session um it's 801 so we will return out at nine o'clock to call our special board meeting to order there's a special board meeting for a person one item personnel matter that's also will be handled in closed session um and there may be a report back from that item i believe um so is that am i am i close mr release on on those yes so the board will uh will come back at 9 00 pm to report any actions if there are any in this closed session and then once that's done the board will open the closed session special meeting and then recess into closed session for that okay okay um trustee chavez uh yes um the last two times i wasn't uh i guess uh able to get back into the meeting after the closed session so i know that the last item is if we have anything else that we would like to put on the agenda so can i go ahead and say that now in case i have technical issues for later because i guess last time you guys got bored uh quorum so you had the three but i wasn't able to come into it because i wanted to add something to the agenda for the next month yeah we can take that now can't we mr ruiz yes okay so um i guess because there has been a lot of issues with um work orders i would like to see it for the next month uh an itemized list of all the work orders for the last three years finished and unfinished please could they could staff bring that to the next meeting okay um so your request is it's just that just to bring the items an itemized list of all the work orders uh you know for the last three years finished and unfinished okay okay so that's all so for the in terms of just the agenda item that's just the expectation is that you'll get that list at that time if it could be on the board book so we can also see and the public could see what work orders need to be done and if it's too lengthy then at least the the ones that are for uh three years ago so you want to i'm just trying to make sure that or dr bauer do you i guess i'll let you um say again no i was just gonna follow up with trustee chavez one on one so she can tell me exactly but now the agenda item will be placed okay and can you make that list according to each school and their needs as well as the dates that they the work orders were first issued i'm gonna try my best miss chavez trusty chavez you know i still need to talk to ed about you know being able to provide the necessary information but we definitely have this as an agenda item thank you because i've heard a lot from the community and so i you know i just kind of let it go but i think that we we need to look at that as well thank you okay thank you um all right it looks like at this time i don't see anyone else waving any hands or anything so we are we'll our board will take a let's say oh trustee marquez um i need to speak to maribel um to get the number for closed session so someone can get her to call me or okay maribel can you make sure that you connect with trustee marquez to make sure she can get into closed session okay okay we'll make sure so so given those requests and just in general can board let's um let's me to try to get into the closed session at 8 15.

obviously we have a new plan now but they were impressed with the old one uh the safe and respectful welcoming atmosphere that they observe that's conducive to learning our connections block which acts as a bit of an advisory period that gives students opportunities for individualized attention and some personalized learning the broad range of you know clubs and activities and athletics that we offer and the time built into the district calendar that supports professional development as well next slide so along with the accommodation we also got um some recommendations and the um recommendations were given based on the evidence that the visiting committee um saw but also what um was identified in our self-study so we had actually figured out that there would probably be some of these recommendations um listed after the visit based on um what we had seen ourselves as we were um going through the self-study process and had already begun trying to to kind of think about how we were going to attack some of these recommendations for the next two year plan so some of those recommendations were that um providing adequate formal time and resources um for the teachers to reflect on the application measurement and being able and um revision of those transferable skills so being able to use um the data and really and the rubrics and having time to um dig into those in order to to revise um the transferable skills as as needed um as well as developing a process to review the curricula and um the assessment maps um to ensure that there are multiple opportunities for the students to meet all the learning expectations in across content areas and courses as well as providing professional development opportunities so that teachers can work together to increase student engagement in the classroom again across the curriculum other recommendations included the implementing the use of transferable skill rubrics consistently and with fidelity um with all students so that um the school can assess um the whole um sorry the whole individual student achievement for those learning expectations um the the idea of also establishing a formal process um to report the individual and whole school um process towards achieving those transferable skills um to the student and um as well as the school community and um the other recommendation is ensuring teachers are consistently communicating to students um prior to um each unit of study what those objectives are going to be that they'll be studying in that in that unit um so that they're aware of what they'll be assessed on additional recommendations and i will add that this may seem like a lot of recommendations but really the main goal of the of the niask visit and and the self-study process is to help districts grow so these are this having a list a long list of recommendations is not a bad thing um this is just sort of guiding principles to help us as we move forward to become an even better school than we already are um so continuing on with our recommendations um they'd like to see us dedicating ongoing professional development time for teachers to work collaboratively in ways to um revise and analyze some of our formative summative and common assessments they'd like to see a more formal process to ensure that students have adults in their lives who know them really well and can help them with their acquisition of specific transferable skills they'd like to make it possible for students to have regular access to the library media center during the school day throughout the week and ensure that staffing levels in the library are sufficient to accommodate student use create and increase efforts to our open choice and columbia families to engage them in school and community activities develop long-term planning to upgrade and make the athletic field complex safe specifically they pulled out in the report the poor drainage on the soccer field the lack of track and field facilities and they highlighted the tennis courts which as we know is is um being addressed already at this time um provide consistent funding source to support technology and its integration into instruction and explore alternatives to expand or improve the performance venue of the high school so now that we have the report back and we have all of the recommendations the next steps that we'll have to do is submit the two-year progress report which will be due september 15 2021 and that report will respond to the recommendations that we just kind of explained briefly and what we're doing to address those recommendations and the school's accreditation status will be reviewed again um based on the progress of the two-year report and and i just want to add having been through um those reports i arrived um when it was time for a two-year report and you don't have to have met every recommendation and fixed all those issues you just need to kind of respond to them um so for example some of them are going to be easy rebuilt tennis courts right done some will be we're continuing to investigate or we are working on um my first two year report was a building project has started but everything you said about our facility is still true i'll see you in two more years right so um this is not a that whole list of recommendations as jen said is a is a good thing for us it's a list that we self-generated to guide us um but it's not uh what needs to be done in the next two years i just want to kind of be clear on that too and again the progress that we've already made um towards some of these recommendations and again it was based on the self-study and the recommendations from the visiting committee and again because we had done the self-study we had an idea of what some of these recommendations were going to be so we had already kind of started to make a plan as to how to address many of these so what we have done um since the visit is updated power school to to be able to communicate mastery towards the transferable skills on specific individual assignments in real time so the students are getting those reports when they complete assessments um that have transferable skills tied to them we're also have developed reports for families and students to communicate overall achievement of the identified transferable skills and we improved our efforts to utilize the connections period for um a more formal student goal-setting activities as well as time to review student progress with them the connections teachers were able to really take the time to um work with the individual students which is about nine to ten students that that they have um to review their grades in all of their classes and talk about what kind of goals do you want to set for um this marking period and and we'll check in at midpoint and trying to figure out um and really support those those students and um giving the students an opportunity to also reflect themselves and we began to analyze and improve our scoring criteria and are able to use that now to also continue to measure the mastery for those transferable skills we've explored ways to utilize our plc our professional learning community structure to reflect on how we measure how we revise our transferable skills our application we were kind of in the thick of really doing this before we left school in march so we're hoping to get back to that soon we continue to use department meeting times and select professional development time to align our curricula to the transferable skills and develop assessments that measure the mastery of transferable skills and tag and upload all that into atlas so that we can map where any gaps may be um and we were working last year in our plc meetings to explore the use and communication of learning targets which was one of the recommendations they had um i will say before you get to the questions portion niask has already released new standards that when we go through this process again there's a whole new slew of standards that we will be evaluated on one of those is looking to have a portrait of a graduate so in terms of progress made we're actually ahead of the game on the next batch of standards and that we already have our portrait of the graduate defined and when the deputy director of niask came to meet with us before the you know our annual visit our biennial visit last year um she was completely blown away with the fact that we had already developed a portrait of a graduate and that wasn't even in the new batch of it wasn't even in the standards that we were being assessed on yet so uh we've made progress and in some ways we actually are ahead of the game and the new batch of standards that we'll have to tackle nine years from now so along with the new standards it's going to be a new process we were the last group to go through it the the old way um it is going to be um it's reported to be more of an ongoing uh interaction with nyask as opposed to you know we'll see in 10 years except for a couple of written reports so uh it'll be interesting to see how that rolls out before we take questions i would just like to acknowledge and give tremendous kudos to jen and abby uh chairing a kneeask visit is a very heavy lift for sure i don't think uh the general public has any idea the amount of time energy and work that goes in to a self-study and a preparation for a visit the actual visit and then waiting on pins and needles for the actual report so we thank them we are very grateful to them to our staff to joe to christine for the tremendous effort done in this and very very proud of the work that they are doing and i need to piggyback by saying you know we had some other folks on the steering committee um mark mushriki uh maggie klepfer and that's it that's it okay and you joe yeah yeah angie you know and and lots of help from from kristen and sarah and beth as well um and the other little which we can we can look back and maybe smile now at the time we were not um about two weeks before the visit was to happen the chairman who had already come out already met with us done a bunch of work and already built relationships um and some impressions um had a had a serious medical issue and they put in a very last minute very unprepared pinch hitter um that resulted in in really abby and jen kind of doing things over and over and over again um november december january february march april so we kind of did the self-study like three times as a result of that and that was just unfortunate circumstances but you know to christian's point the chairs do a lot but these guys did like five times that amount so thank you thank you now what questions do you have joe will answer them you'll have to shout it out gang because like mr davey god thank you um i'm wondering if you could talk a little bit more about the staff development uh continuing ed recommendations i guess i was a little confused because i i seem to recall during the uh when you were talking about the uh kudos that we received one of the things that they praised us for was the amount of staff development time and the efforts that we currently do in that area and then there also seemed to be a lot of recommendations in that area and the the praise and the that that didn't quite square so i just wondered about that my my my understanding again a large report but from what i remember from from the 97 pages is that they applaud the amount of time we have for professional development i think the recommendations were in terms of other weight like ways we can maybe start to shift how we use that time to address some areas that we maybe haven't been addressing um you know we've been focusing a lot on a lot of the curricular pieces in our professional development that now that we're in a much better place with that maybe we can start shifting and you know looking at ways to use that professional development time to diversify what were you know and those were things that we said you know what the next thing we want to do as a staff is xyz and they turned it around and said the recommendation is you do this and and that's okay we're not our feelings aren't hurt because one of the the realities about neo let's so let's rewind the clock 11 years ago nias came into bolton said you need a building right and often the s groups come in and say what is your agenda what is it you need so they the reports often generate recommendations to kind of push agendas in our case it was our agenda that got reflected in the recommendation so we're we're very comfortable with all of those those pieces all right thank you for explaining that uh makes it much clearer in my mind um and then if i could and i apologize because my computer froze and i had to restart so i missed the end of the bhs update but i did have a question for principal miceli if if i might i noticed in the enrollment census that we were provided this month that the high school population has decreased by 10 in just last month i was wondering if you could talk a little bit about that um some of those were folks that moved away um and some of those 10 were students that i i don't think were correctly accounted for at the opening of school which is not it's not abnormal like hey where's the kid right if school's open you're still on the books from the previous year and we don't exit them officially until there are certain steps that take place um so we've had some students move away for different reasons um some of them good some you know good choices right um but that that that number is is looks a little bit larger because of of the way thing shook out because often um we know at the end of the school year hey i'm gonna we're gonna move day i got relocated whatever it might be well the last time we really had those kinds of conversations with kids was in march so um we were carrying students on the books that we just we didn't have a reason to take them off until we were back in school and they weren't here and we and we followed up thank you for explaining um i have a question about the niask report um so i i fully understand your explanation about um how they take a lot of what you've done in your self-study and put that into the recommendations my question is were there any surprises that you had not anticipated there were some in the original draft that because they made no sense they were they were wrong um and and that was part of the back and forth process and um as frustrated as i i was with the process overall i will say the executive assistant executive director allison gary could not have been better she spoke to me several times she spoke to kristin and she was willing to to keep working on the report until it was right so if you ask me that if the first draft i would say oh my gosh where did that come from um but you know when it's all in said and done no this is this is our roadmap for the next you know five to eight years and we're good with it yeah i think the only thing that might be slightly misleading is when they talk about the reporting of transferable skill data i think i think it was confusing we tried to explain to them what we were doing when they were here and i think we just in all their meetings with different teachers they didn't really have a clear sense of what exactly we were doing in power school so some of those recommendations i personally feel read a little harsher than what reality is um but offer on that one particular piece i think that our staff and what we are doing at the high school is light years above what most of the people who came in for this accreditation visit are currently experiencing in their districts you know you heard jen talk about the next time around in 10 years they're going to be looking at the portrait of a graduate and as you know we've been one of the leaders in the state and you know farmington being the leader because they've had one for like a decade but you know we we jumped on that bandwagon a few years ago um and prior to that and you know we had really gone into the piece about the transferable skills and i don't know jen and abby how long ago was that when i came to a meeting and said hey i think we ought to dive into this can we give it a shot it's yeah that was five or six years ago five or so years yeah yeah i guess it's there too to be honest another good example is one of the things that said about a report home to families about that i handed them that report during their visit it was something we had put in self-study because when we wrote the self-study six months before the visit we didn't have it done but we were working on it we had it done by the time we were here we handed it to them we talked about it but they still put it in as a recommendation so it is what it is yeah okay thank you and thank you so much for all of your time that you spent on that thank you are we okay in that library i'm seeing some movements and head are we good or not oh i can't keep the lights on not enough movement in the library is the issue [Laughter] okay just check it thanks are there other questions or comments all right hearing none thank you do we have one joe no i think we're good i can see everybody okay thank you so now i'm going to turn it over to miss safran for an update on bcs and then about the summer learning adventures updates um mr giardis not with us tonight because he is home uh with his new baby boy and his wife and uh baby number one yes so we are ready um here is our chart similar to mr miceli's um working and we'll keep updating it so we actually um have our numbers of students in the remote parallel track has decreased since the last month um currently uh we have 92 students that are participating so that's 19 of our school population and is broken down um it did go by grade so we've seen a few grades as you'll notice while uh kindergarten went up it went up one um every other grade you know kids have been coming back or numbers have been changing so we've had more students returning to school than are choosing to switch to remote in our building are there any questions about that chart before we move on i have a quick question real quick this is ben um so what is the process if a student wants to go from strictly remote to come back to school is it is it an application process can they come back instantly how does that work exactly um what what happens is they reach out to either their classroom teacher or myself or mr giard and the parent says you know i'm really interested we're ready to come back and what we do is really just begin a conversation with the classroom teacher to make sure that they're ready they have the space that they need they feel and we try to get them in as soon as we possibly can but we did ask parents in our um back to school uh plan uh to give us a week's notice but to miss saffron's point you know we once they tell us we want to come back we try to do it as quickly as possible but you know we can take up to that week from our perspective if that's what we need to do to make everything the way it needs to be to get them in but we try to do it much sooner than that right and it and a lot of times it also depend truthfully on what letter of the alphabet they are if they tell us on one day and their cohort doesn't come again i mean they have to wait a little bit longer where if the teacher has spacing ready we've had teachers just excited to get those kids back in the classroom so they'll say yes tomorrow i'll take them so you know we really just work together to be that partnership between school and home and doing what the families need just as much as we support those that need to make a shift for whatever reason they need to you know we're all working together awesome yeah that makes sense like my wife in some of her classes has four and some of her classes has twelve so it would make a difference on some days rather than others so well all right thank you you're welcome well in part of the process much like high school is we are really focused on student engagement in many ways and so we meet weekly with the teachers at different levels grade levels plcs um at the middle school just to continue to talk about how we're teaching how is our learning going um our students engaged and we really are focusing on just making sure that any student that's struggling to engage with the learning whether they're a remote student or a hybrid student that we're reaching out or connecting so we've been spending a lot of time talking about that looking at some of the different practices that we've been using um how do you you know this moving into a hybrid model is still new for all of us as much as we learned so much about distance learning this blend of having some in some at home some at home every day is still something that we've worked on we've made a lot of changes especially at the middle school over the last month regarding um meets and having more opportunities for students to really we're really encouraging them to attend their full day because it's a full day and we're putting out a full day of times and things for families or students to be involved with um another change this year that we're seeing a lot of excitement from is the seesaw and connecting with students at home so we've increased the number of classes using the seesaw platform and that was something that the board supported last spring and we're still working with especially in the area of specials so in our pe music depending on the grade level they're um really using that seesaw and it's allowing the teachers to really get access for the students and to see because the students have the ability to videotape take pictures to provide audio and it's helping the teachers a lot for the kids that aren't hybrid or remote so they've also noticed and shared with us that it's really also increased our students communication skills as they will happily talk out to the camera i think we're making a very good youtube population they will talk out to the camera they're thinking they'll hold up work they'll explain it though you know bring to life outside i know our pe teachers are really really excited i mean they have their students at home practicing their sit-ups and they're recording how many steps they can get done so the teachers are still seeing that learning as it's really hard to live stream pe out in the field so they're feeling connected with their students like they they struggled to feel that in the spring so we really want to thank the board of ed for that continued support with that learning management system and it's something that we're really looking forward to continuing having and using as we continue teaching throughout this year we are also working with our staff to collaborate a lot on how we're going to be transitioning our students especially our k5 students into the building over the next few weeks um you know we're looking at furniture and spacing we're looking at how it's going to shift with the students no longer being hybrid and how the teaching is going to change to making sure that we're just really doing our best for all of our students and we're continuing to collaborate with the middle school and looking at how do we provide a safe environment for all of our staff and students and quality education but with that technology has been a big part of our time so we can now say that 100 of our students have access to technology and internet access mrs malinowski has been working hard as we get and we solve those problems day by day i like us to stop getting warnings on losing power because i twitch every time the thought of us not having power potentially not having wi-fi comes up but you know we're working through it and we've also started working in our k5 classes um many of the students have begun receiving chromebook protective sleeves as they're you know getting used to bringing those devices back and forth to school so we've been really excited about that are there any i'll ask for other any questions before i move on all right so then transitioning to very different um we are very excited to talk about and wrap up our summer adventures in learning at bone center school i did share with you this with you i believe in june to kind of talk about what we were going to be launching for the summer but becky sullivan is going to co-present with me she's in here and our instructional coach and we she and i worked and we were planning this throughout all of last school year and really wanting to look at how can we motivate our students to continue learning over the summer so with the shift to distance learning it put a wrinkle and some changes into our plan our students had spent a lot of time on the computer we were really mindful of that we were also mindful of what our students maybe didn't practice or didn't have access to as much as they typically would have so we really were thinking we need to get our students engaged even more than before so we were excited to work on this and like um jessica had said we did start planning this a year ago and one of the reasons was over the last few years we've seen a decline in the number of students participating in the opportunities we did have available the estate math challenge the governor's reading challenge so we really wanted to provide something that would encourage students to do that and we spent time throughout the year looking at research and other programs that were being done both within the state we had the opportunity to listen to some things being done with some of the correct schools um we both attended a conference in december where we got to hear what one of the another school was doing for math related to keep the summer going and we also talked with our teachers and we talked with parents and talked with the parents who are the ones home with the students over the summer and really wanted their feedback into what they were looking for and we adjusted our plans up until those minutes based on what the parents were telling us they felt they could manage or what they were looking for to help their children over the summer oh go ahead becky no is it my turn you ready okay so um we did talk to the students as well we had a couple of focus groups over google meets asking kids what they would be interested in earning they knew they would be earning raffle tickets we also sent a survey out to students and we were able to share the prizes before um school got let out in june we did a quick little virtual assembly and the pta um did a great job with helping us to purchase all of the prizes so we are so incredibly grateful to the pta for their support in this and i have to say there are many students that made the difference seeing what they could get i mean that kept some of them going all summer long so it was really wonderful and um when we so we provided i'll get to that part later um the students had the part opportunity to do lots of different ways so we really went for multiple platforms to try to give variety and options to families and students what worked for you what works in one house might not work for there so we're just trying to get engagement and can and will build off of this as we continue with it's not going away um so they had still the governor's reading and math challenges were options and we still promoted them mrs herrick the library media specialist had started her own kind of reading challenge and she's noticed it so we really pushed that out to our students um we designed i learned i learned to create a google site um that had just options for math games reading activities mrs sullivan put podcasts on there we broke it up by k2 band a three five band and a six eight band really trying to gear different ideas for the different ages and we also had buster's challenges which provided multi-disciplinary activities across the different content areas there are many still planned for the future not as many there are many plans there they're there i'm excited um and then we also did um this each student got a flat buster and that is inspired there's the flat stanley series and a few different schools we got this idea from them and it was an idea of taking that um character and our buster around with them so you'll see a little bit about that and as jessica said we had lots of different ways that students could engage in their learning over the summer and we also provided them with multiple platforms so students were able to use seesaw and students uploaded pictures some kids typed in a journal and some students did little videos and we also had google classroom where students could just upload pictures to google slides um so so that was excellent and students in grades one through eight could all access their i ready personalized learning path as well and we had a lot of students who engaged in that and it was definitely fun over the summer i learned the other side of seesaw and getting to reply and getting to comment mrs sullivan i did we had some teachers ask if they could be a part of it so they'd go on and you know comment to the students and it'd be great there was one point students were talking to each other and complementing each other's work which we you know just hoped would happen and it did fourth graders too so it was nice to see the big kids talking and complimenting each other's work and then on wednesday september 23rd we held our virtual assembly and um we live streamed it out to many and um it was very exciting and we took a moment to congratulate a lot of the students that really pulled in a lot of tickets and then we pulled and we gave out a lot of prizes and it's amazing those students from the tiny little things to the big things they were very excited um we got reports that there was squealing there might have been squealing in my house too you know listening students were cheering their friends on um the next day at school kids knew who got what so it was really exciting and i think it definitely gave us motivation to hopefully you know we'll have a little bit more of an in school kick off this next year mr misali can you yes thank you so we have some numbers for you so we did have um 93 students participate across ka and previously um last year we had 23 students participate in the reading challenge so we were we were happy and we did get students from every grade so um we we hit a goal there and when it came to the raffle tickets we gave out we cut up 1488 raffle tickets so that was exciting and students on our website we did explain that you can get more raffle tickets for doing something versus other like the buster challenge every challenge you did those are worth two um so it was it was fun we let them know there was a different way to earn and we had one second grader with 84 raffle tickets which really was our highest although we did have we did have quite a few up there having between 30 and 60 raffle tickets so some of those kept going all summer long and then for some grade level stats our second graders had the most tickets overall they earned 383 raffle tickets and fourth grade had the most iready lessons completed at 207 so 207 lessons on their path were completed and see-saw the second graders had 47 posts and kindergarten was the top grade level our incoming case with 63 entries in google classroom so it was wonderful to be able to get them to be a part of it as well all right and we did um as i emailed families letting them know they won prizes and i'd be sending slime home with their children just giving them a heads up um they we did get some feedback to us so we we took a few little snips of it so one of our students this was actually the student um our eighth grader who was very involved she said thank you for thank you thank you for all yours and mrs sullivan's help with all these fun adventures and in fifth grade parents summer adventures was a fun and motivating way for my son to remain engaged in learning over the summer months we had thank you for all you do my family appreciates it so much from a kindergarten second grade parent and then for students in grades two and four their parents said this was a fantastic idea to keep them engaged over the summer and then we had the girls enjoyed the different ideas you had for buster's challenges they were very motivated by the idea raffle prizes and look forward to earning tickets and finally jackson was ecstatic during the assembly today which is actually exciting to hear because during a live stream you don't know who's there you don't see the other side so that was great to hear yeah and uh we are very excited we have a few of the photos this is just a tiny bit of some of the work that got submitted and some of the things that the kids were doing and we're going to share it with you now mr missell is going to do some magic on his end [Music] when we wake up hear the birds and see the sun side by side our fears are done all the good [Music] found what we're looking for in life call us crazy but things are finally right with you and i the future is [Music] we don't need no more even in the [Music] before i sleep hear the crickets see the moon [Music] oh [Music] but things are finally if you right i the future is [Music] you and i can't wear [Music] oh [Music] we don't need no more [Music] that was great thank you thank you any questions or comments about summer learning inventors at bolton center school i'll just make a comment can you hear me yes okay um i'll just make a comment that i was very thankful we didn't do it as much as i had hoped to do it but we did have a place to go to find some easy lessons when it was time to kind of get back into it a little bit so i do hope it continues and um great job thank you for putting that all yeah absolutely i was going to say something similar very impressive those engagement numbers are awesome especially the increase absolutely and i want to commend jessica and becky they worked so hard on it all year long coming up with different ideas and then cove it hit and it was like a five alarm fire how do we turn this around and still make it work and and they worked so hard to uh to make it a great experience for our kids and i i want to commend them for for the amazing work that they did well done well done thank you and there were many moments where in many of our zoo meetings getting those little video those pictures would ding at me and then i was like oh okay they're having fun kids are outside having fun and doing things so it was wonderful so we enjoyed it and we you know we had plans that you know we could only roll out so much so fast so we have we're ready for next year ready which is great thank you all right thank you very much so we are on to federal and state covid funding update if there are any if there are not any other comments for jessica and becky all right so um for the esscr grant elementary and secondary school emergency relief bolton public schools was awarded 17 146 dollars this number uh is based on our title one funding so that is how that uh these monies were divvied out across the state the award period uh started on the 13th of march 2020 and went through the 30th of september 2021.

our grant request was to go towards the purchase of 54.26 not really sure how you actually do that with the touch screen chromebook but that's what it turned out to be uh with a per item cost of 316 uh to address our urgent need to provide equal access to technology at home for all students during distance learning as a result of the pandemic our grant was awarded and uh we had originally had those monies um come out of open choice for um towards those chromebooks so that portion was reclassified out of open choice and into the ess our esser grant and we have already received those monies and those were purchases that happened last fiscal year federal and state cobid funding coronavirus relief fund bolton public schools award was based well all districts awards were based on two surveys that the csde sent to superintendents one was completed on the 17th of july and the other on the 5th of august and those surveys were basically asking us to project give a best guess i guess really is really what i want to say on costs um that we thought we might incur um and to be honest really at that point we really didn't know i'm going to be really honest we didn't even have a plan yet for our return to school we were working on it so um we received um i have to minimize this so i can see it we received um three buckets of money but in total uh 133 826 i want to be clear that we have not received the monies yet we have to apply for the monies so we were awarded allotment to go towards personnel related supports with regards to cleaning ppe health and safety you'll notice that's not a large amount i gave a much larger amount i'll offer that non-personnel related supports really is our cleaning ppe and health and safety we were um allotted 94 000 and for non-personnel related supports for transportation we were awarded 37 783 dollars the award period is goes all the way back to the first of march in 2020 and it goes until the 30th of december of 2020.

we completed the grant application for the ninety four thousand dollars and we are waiting for the csde to process uh requests for reallocation up to two thousand forty three dollars and the thirty seven thousand seven eighty three i had we had been told superintendents have been told on a call with commissioner cardona several weeks ago that um those monies were going to be allowed to be reallocated then there was word that well we hope to be able to do that this afternoon every superintendent in the state received word that in fact we will be allowed to request a reallocation for both of those pieces we have been notified bolton has of csd first level approval for the 94 000 uh drawdown request that we have asked for there are several levels of approval in this process right now which is not always the way with grants but opm uh is overseeing these monies which is why there are other levels uh involved in the approval process next slide please so as i shared under the personnel related supports we wrote right into the grant application that funding was not needed in this category and we were requesting a reallocation for the non-personnel related supports for cleaning ppe health and safety the ninety four thousand uh fifty four thousand one hundred and sixty of this we applied for for the rental of the air conditioning units for two months at fulton center school the purchase of air scrubbers two at bcs and two at bolton high school there's one in each nurse's office and one in each isolation room and we ended up purchasing them because it was more cost effective for us to purchase them than it was for us to rent them and the cost of those was ten thousand two hundred dollars and we're very very happy that we have them um because it is cold and flu season right now um and there's a little bit of a stomach bug going around and those are also symptoms of covid so anytime a child exhibits symptoms like that they are sent to the nurse and often times are sent directly to the isolation room waiting for a parent to pick them up to then take them to see a doctor to determine whether it's one thing or get a test and to determine if in fact it's covered and lastly um the desk shields for students and staff that's not the full amount cost for dust shields um but um that amount as well and then we do not need the money for transportation so again in our uh request we put that we did not need funding in this category and a reallocation would be requested so that is my report on the funds and the information i have to date are there questions for me on that piece okay i hope to have more information next month where i hope to be able to uh hopefully the state has come up with their process for how the additional funds will be reallocated so i can report out um about our application for that as well um they often say it's coming in a couple of days and then it's coming in a week and then it's coming in two weeks and then it might be three so i hope i have information to share next month thank you that ends my report this evening thank you everyone um under unfinished policy unfinished business we have policies um second read chris do you want to do an overview or should we just move through uh yeah well we did an overview last time but if if anyone needs a reminder of anything i'm happy to find my notes um but i'll uh go ahead and make a motion uh perfect let's see i think we can i think we can move them all together that's what i was gonna ask yeah if we could do them all together so i'll make commotion to approve uh policy 1010 c-19 1470 and all of these will have c-19 at the end of them so i'll just skip that going forward policy five one three five one two four zero one two five zero one three three zero one four five five four one one two dot five four one one eight dot four five one one two five one three four five one four one five one four one dot one r six one seven two dot six nine three two one nine three two two and nine three two five do we have a second i would like a second any questions comments okay hearing none all those in favor aye aye any opposed abstentions passes unanimously under new business more policies first read chris all right thank you sue uh so again the vast majority of these policies uh in the 5000 series first read are ones that we are asking to delete um mostly because they're either no longer required or they're covered by other existing policies um so briefly uh 511.1 foreign exchange students this policy is not required um it also doesn't take into consideration any issues related to immigration security our flights finally came back and liability uh policy 5118 non-resident attendance again it's not required because we only take tuition students if we have an agreement with the sending district and that agreement with the sending district covers what the policy would cover um policy 5124 reporting to parents well not lives for that again again it's not a required policy policy 5131.1 bus conduct this is already covered by our student discipline policy policy 5131.11 video cameras on bus this information um will be is is it already in the student handbook kristen or it's going to be in the student handbook there is information in the student handbook and we will make sure it continues to be in student handbook perfect so because of that it's not required as a board level policy uh 5131.7 weapons and dangerous instruments again this is already stuff that's covered in the student discipline policy 5131.81 electronic devices this is one that we will eliminate because it's covered in another policy namely 5135 student use of private technological devices which i think we just approved yes so we just approved the new policy there 5133 cyber bullying again this is up for elimination because it's already covered in our safe school climate plan which is policy 5131.911 policy five one four one two two communicable and infectious diseases this is up for elimination because it's covered in policy five one four one health screenings and assessments and again that's a policy that we just adopted an updated version of i'll see 5141.231 psychotropic drug use up for elimination because it's covered in policy 4118.234 prohibition on recommendations for psychotropic drugs policy 5141.24 staff with hiv aids-related complex or aid the attorneys recommend that we eliminate this one because it's not required by connecticut law policy 5141.27 first aid emergency medical care this is already covered by policy 1430 which is currently up to date policy 5141.4 reporting of child abuse neglect and sexual assault again marked for elimination because it is covered in this case by two other policies um 4120 on reports of suspected abuse or neglect of children or sexual assault of students by school employees and policy 5145.511 child sexual abuse and assault policy and reporting procedure next is policy 5145.6 this is the last marked for deletion student grievance procedures uh it's already addressed in policy 5145.4 which again is an up-to-date policy then we have three policies that we are asking to revise uh policy 5123 promotion and retention this is one where we're moving from an older policy to the shipment model policy uh it'll also be renumbered to become policy six two zero five policies five one two 5125 confidentiality and access to education records this is being revised to include student data privacy and other recent legislative changes and then lastly policy 5141.

[Music] we are back we got a 20 20 curse going on today with some of our our video feeds but josh is dead josh reverberating patience doing a nice job josh yeah it's it's not mirrored on josh's computer the field is mirrored and he's worried but on on your screen your screen at home great catch by cass setter your screen at home looks perfect so our our technology guys in here having a small breakdown but he's smiling again he's gonna be okay trying to get everybody happy here so here we go nice catch by cass setter for first down good throw great great ball by hand [Music] three oh lily leaned a little bit but yeah redmi looks great look at him 20. great run 17 yards hard run really good it's nice for uh the bulldogs to have both those guys back there you know um if redmond can come in and get 15-yard carries uh columbus north is going to look good tonight all night yeah they liked it i liked it the first time 12 yards there looks like timeout yep bloomington's gonna take a quick timeout the coach immediately throughout the second quarter [Music] now 413 remains on the clock here at the second floor seven to seven you got the right game on now coach [Laughter] things phones computers everything and gosh it's two and a half buttons well hey i'm glad that i'm surrounded by technology guys i just keep talking right i mean i think that's the rule right yeah you know since we started doing this i i i bought one of those uh color commentary for you know 101 color commentary guide you know [Laughter] it's helpful yeah just a little bit of his face yeah he he got jerked down hard yeah he got jerked down hard there he looks like he's okay he's rubbing his neck a little bit that's about as bad as you see one um it's always unintentional you feel bad when it happens a kid from bloomington didn't mean to do that but uh you're supposed to let go of it quickly and uh he held on quite a bit that that time [Music] they're on the 10 folks looks like that uh huffman maybe four i think he's got a first down it'll be uh first and goal from the eight yard line looks like 350 on the clock wow what patience you know hamas did a nice job there um you really had to let that one develop i think i think you did a nice job waiting for that route i'm pretty sure that blyth wasn't the the number one option there uh he just let him come over the middle and throw him a nice ball great catch great pass yeah really really good drive there um the bulldogs did a nice job two different defensive uh efforts there uh one pin down deep uh you know they got that ball i don't know i think maybe that was like a 80 85 yard drive i think looking good [Music] oh carter ward on the kick for the bulldogs kicks away is it gonna be received at the three yard line looking get outside that return is by dylan barrow so [Music] 322 on the clock lorenzo hands off for bloomington north and he has stopped immediately by the dogs bring up a second and call it eight from the 29 yard line clock running 302 remains here in the second quarter 14 to 7 is our score lozano trying to get to the outside here the third and sixth coach [Music] it is third and sixth two minutes remain lozano back to pass ball is def deflected and knocked down and bring up fourth down for bloomington [Music] north the fourth and sixth here north is back to pass nearly blocked casa is going to get away it's going to roll out of bounds at the 40-yard line well coach you got two minutes and three seconds and three timeouts here what do you what do you anticipate to see well two minutes in uh in this kind of game uh the way they've been uh throwing it and running it i i would just uh probably give it to huffman a few times and uh loosen it up maybe throw one over the middle cast setter but that's my favorite play so um i think with two minutes left they got plenty of time to go down and score another touchdown two by two formation here for the dogs hammond's in the gun is normal huffman now in motion not to the field side hammond's looking to throw now he's going to scramble across the 45 down to the 46th yeah hammond's really you know very agile play there great uh you know probably looks like a one-yard gain turns it into about an eight-yard gain or a six-yard gain really good run actually almost got sacked so great job by hammond 135 on the clock first half and running dogs lead 14 to 7.

2020-10-10 Passaic County, NJ YouTube / CPS TV transcript source: youtube Clifton Football vs Passaic - October 9, 2020 · passage 2
the mustangs ended up starting off last season and they're looking to start to mustangs foreign joshua hernandez and number 70 mohamed abuba mustangs have only won the tops and that but that's just by judging from the reaction on the sidelines i just want to get sick it looks like the mustangs are going to receive to start off the game which means to begin the second half the passenger indians will be receiving the ball they won the clifton did win the toss and elected to receive which means in the second half the forsake indians will start with the ball back to return there is number 14 kayla bonaparte and number one luke sinai touchdown is here i oh suck it down right last week he ended up getting in there and scored an eight yard touchdown for the mustangs and there he is picking up not just not just a few yards [Applause] offensive card so then getting an offensive guard involved in receiving the ball is a very big design play by artwork and he's going to take himself on his on an option and he'll get a gain of five yards on that run which is enough for a mustangs first down another very well designed play by coach giordano and head coach coach thank you novelis under center two receivers left one right maldonado on the backfield velos takes the snap and hands it off to maldonado who makes a nice jump cut you get past the ten the five anything touchdown mustangs jacob maldonado with an 18-yard run that gets the mustangs a six-point lead early on a four-minute drive and the mustangs already have six points on the board jacob maldonado an 18-yard run stephopolis with the extra point and the kick is good oh the kick is not good the kick was off it was far right and the mustangs all and the mustangs only have a six-nothing lead stethopolis makes the miss the extra point and it is a six nothing lead by clifton and the mustangs still have a six nothing lead ladies and gentlemen so missing the extra point isn't all that bad and the mustangs are going to kick off to the passage indians and the kick is up and it is a pretty good one it's so good that it went out of the back of the endzone what an impressive kickoff and out comes the dominant mustangs defense who had an interception last week very late in the game and they ended up only giving up 20 points to the colonia patriots which they had no time to prepare for which is a very interesting like stat only giving up 20 points to a team you only have a few days to prepare for and a team you've never played in your school's history that is very impressive [Music] and here is the indians offense man in motion he hands it off to number seven and ends up number seven adrian muzon omar muhai's on the tackle and it'll be second at about three to go our second and seven to go for the pace indians offense being led by quarterback jeremiah johnson number two and running back 21 antro munro and it's a false start on pacific and they'll be going backwards and it's a five-yard penalty i believe so it'll be second and 11 from the 19 yard line instead of second and six and out comes the indians offense led by quarterback jeremiah johnson as i said before two receivers left one right he takes the snap he rolls right he's gonna throw johnson has no time that he's dropped for a sack number one luke cinery got back there and was able to bring him down for a loss and it'll be a loss of five and it'll be third and 16 yards third and 15 from the 15-yard line they break the huddle one receiver right one receiver left to right johnson takes the snap rolls right doesn't have a lot of time throws right and it is incomplete and it has a three down and the mustangs will get the ball back and out comes the special teams very good stop by the mustangs defense two returners back there and the kick is up and the punt goes far right and out of bounds at about the 47 yard line and that seems to be where the mustangs will will begin pun landed out of bounds at the 47-yard line on clifton but they will start on the passaic 49 mustangs break the huddle two receivers left one right velos hands it off to maldonado who has a hole and will get a pretty good gain of about seven yards and it'll be second and three hello of seven on the run second three for the mustangs they break the huddle two receivers right one left maldonado on the back field fellas takes the snap throws right and it is incomplete but there is a flag on the play looking for caleb bonaparte there and it is on the offense there was an eligible player down field against the mustangs they do accept so it'll be second and long for the mustangs five yard penalty second and ten for the mustangs here we go they break the huddle waldonado on the backfield two receivers right two on two on the left velos takes the snap hands it off to maldonado who makes a nice move and is brought down at the 43-yard line and it's a seven yard game which would bring up third and three for the mustangs maltonado so far this game has has not had a carry under three yards and one was an 18-yard touchdown maldonado playing very well right now and it's third and short so don't be surprised if he gets the ball here two receivers right two left maldonado on the back field swayze emotion velas takes the snap he's gonna throw he throws right for donovan swayze and it's caught and he does not get dragged out of bounds and he's blocked out at the 38 yard line and that'll be a mustangs first down what a great move like donovan swayze to pick up the first down he's about to get brought down and pushed out of bounds but he makes a very nice spin move around one of the defensive backs and picks up five first and ten three receivers right one left maldonado in the backfield velas throws right on a screen to donovan swayze who has some blockers downfield who'll get past the 30 and out of bounds at the 28 yard line that was a nine yard gain on the reception by swayze and it'll be second down and about a yard to go for the mustangs the huddle breaks three receivers left one right maldonado on the backfield velos takes the snap he's gonna throw he's looking left he's looking deep and he's almost had him but it'll be incomplete third and one was looking deep just missed him hit the fingertips of omar new henson third in a yard to go three two receivers left one right velos takes a snap hands it off to maldonado and let's see where they put it did he get did he get it it depends on where the referees spot it and it is a first down for the mustangs on a one-yard carry by maldonado so they gave him the spot and they got the first down good run by jacob maldonado ball placed at the 27 yard line the huddle breaks one receiver left one right two players in the backfield two men in motion maldonado still back there play action pass velas rolls left throwing he's got a man for a pretty good game that was number four is another game by nick burgess a nine yard game by burgers that's the second catch of the game second and one for the mustangs two receivers right one left two minutes and 55 seconds left on the clock he hands the ball off to maldonado no he doesn't he takes it himself he breaks the tackle and he's down inside the 10 yard line that was a that was a really good run by the quarterback kyle villas a gain of nine by kyle vellis on the run after the gate of nine by velas it'll be third and one two receivers right one left cavalis hands it off to maldonado who makes a nice move and he'll get the fir it looks like he got enough for the first down and he's brought down at the five yard line first and goal for the mustangs puddle breaks manzanado on the backfield two receivers left one lined up at tight end one on the right velos takes a snap he rolls left he's looking he's throwing end zone and it is incomplete it'll be and it'll be third down about a yard to go looks like on the previous play of the run by maldonado they just didn't give him the first down which is odd so it'll be third and a yard to go after the incomplete pass by velas and it's a time-out taken by the clifton mustangs that's what i'm afraid i get scared oh and the mustangs offense comes back onto the field and so does passage defense mustangs use their first of three timeouts in this half with a minute and 31 left in the first quarter with a minute and 31 left in the first quarter fellas quick snap hands it off to maldonado who brings it in for a mustangs touchdown jake got more donato his second of the game and the mustangs have a 12 nothing lead a six yard carry for jacob maldonado sets up a two score lead for the mustangs stephanis and we'll do the extra point and there's a flag on the field and it's a full start it looks like by the passaic special teams they caught they got caught jumping it's the thomas the kick is up waiting on the signal and it is good and the mustangs have a 13 point lead 13 nothing mustangs after the second touchdown of the game by jacob maldonado and a six yard carry and out comes the mustangs kickoff team is on the kickoff two men back to return for the indians the kick is up and it will bounce at the five and go out of the back of the end zone for another touch back another very good kickoff first step offers an outcome the indians offense who was stopped on a three and out by the mustangs the last time they were on the field quarterback jeremiah johnson takes the snap hands it off to number 21.

same formation same motion this time hammonds looks like the same play he's going to be brought down it's a big sack there by lucas alexander he's a 5 510 189 sophomore for the cougars yeah you know you were asking uh asked me how i felt about having 203 now that now the bulldogs are going to call a timeout you know two plays and one of them being a sack and losing 40 seconds off the clock coach probably not what the bulldogs want to do there now they're gonna probably struggle to get down there and get a touchdown maybe they'll get three coach bless coach tim bless uses one of his three remaining timeouts there's 124 left second quarter dogs lead 14-7 two timeouts on both sides of the field this game is for an outright conference indiana championship for columbus north if they can win this one they would be sole recipients of the conference indiana this year they do play terre haute south next week so one week at a time certainly but coach did you we have not talked about the sectional draw yet either looks like columbus north will host the trojans of center grove here in two weeks at max anders field and that will certainly be a tall order yeah the uh you know center grove is a is a tough football team i think at every level i i was laughing on the way over to the game tonight thinking about the sectional draw we played the uh seventh and eighth grade game a couple weeks ago you and i talked about that game and my only analogy was remember that that movie the little giants the the center grove seventh grade team looked like a cowboys on on the little giants a tough ball club they were big when northside played in week two and they were probably double the size when you played them week six heyman's on the carry he's gonna be close to first down knocked out of bounds clock will stop and they're moving moving the yard marker and first down we're gonna move the sticks for a first down i was thinking about that center grove draw a little bit today coach if you're tim bless and and staff you got to say you know you got to go through them to win the sectionals they might as well play them first play them at home and columbus north is four and two this year their two losses were close to roncalli and east going downtown looking for cast editor here he's got a beat on him and he my goodness he almost he bobbled the ball for five minutes and nearly brought that in what a what a play there actually glad i wasn't on the mic right there um maybe rooting too hard for the home team um it would have been a phenomenal catch he juggled it for i think 10 yards and looked like he was going to do one of those catch catch off the back routines there for a minute um well as i said a few a few minutes ago you know cass that are down the middle we like that play we've seen it a lot this year uh i wouldn't be surprised they came back to it so [Music] second and ten now one minute ten seconds remain clock is stopped fourteen seven dogs lead cass center in motion this time hamm is back to pass he's got cast editor now cutting back across the middle and he's brought down at the 43 yard line i'll bring up third and short and we got timeout time out taken by the dogs here one timeout remains 102 on the clock so back to the sectional draw a little bit that columbus north is 4-2 and as i said those two losses were close to east and roncalli in both both close games so nothing's to say that that columbus north is just a few points away from being uh being 6-0 really so anything happened in tournament play of course and certainly good to have have that game here special thanks to our sponsors tonight rudolph home mortgage ovation technology group first financial bank columbus wealth jolie rentals jolie development overhead door of south central indiana and the african-american fund of bartholomew county appreciate their generous sponsorship to be able to stream the game to you tonight whether you're here in columbus or on the beach or wherever you are third and five after this timeout expires the dogs will have one more in their pocket 102 on the game clock here 14 7 dogs lead the line up in trips to the right trips to the field here haman's in the gun huff in the back blyth in motion going downtown this time to could be scruggs or patel i can't can't make out the number from here but incomplete and bring up fourth down yeah i mean the the ball is just slightly overthrown there you know hammons does a nice job he's you can only throw that one one way you throw a little bit out of bounds or throw a perfect ball and that one was just a little bit overthrown fourth and five in the offense for columbus north on the field trying to get a cheap one here for an off-size penalty and cougars won't go for it same formation two by two oh it's gonna be a quick kick by hammonds that ball pretty much goes straight up in the air and as a generous columbus north roll across the 20 will be down at the 19 yard line that one even had backspin on it right how do you get the backspin ball to bounce forward it doesn't work in my golf game at least you know the the my my ball is has top spin goes too far and that one apparently hammonds has got a blessed foot so good kick i had a great fortune playing golf this week and they had just aerated the greens about an hour before i got there so my my putting game was not where it should have been blame other people trips to the left here for bloomington north and they're going to give to the back across the middle for about a game of six clock running 35 seconds now and running no timeout by the cougars they do have two remaining they'll line up in a two by two formation no huddle lozano back to pass this time nearly picked off by the dogs that might be charlie charlie winnick very athletic player nearly picked that off and turned this whole game around there had the dogs with the ball at the 34 yard line nonetheless it's third and five call it 22 and a half seconds remain 14-7 dogs lead steinfeld number two receiver on this side of the field gonna run a bubble screen out late flags [Music] yeah the flags everywhere it's going to be a hole the yeah i think one of the wide outs uh had a hold on uh number seven for the bulldogs and um again we had great coverage by the parents here in the uh upper deck calling the hold i like that um they got that one they got that one covered again so that's going to take them back uh to the 25 it looks like coach 14 and a half seconds remain on the clock here in the first half dogs lead 14 to 7 thanks again to our sponsors ru off home mortgage overhead door of south central indiana african american a fund of bartholomew county first financial bank ovation technology columbus wealth jolie rentals and julie development trips in a bunch formation here for bloomington north from their own 25 yard line zono back to pass looking for his iu commit receiver over his head and that'll bring up bring up fourth down less than a second on the clock here just take a quick knee coach is that the right play with point nine on the clock i think you run it back a little bit maybe you certainly don't give them the ball i mean you're uh you're not going to punt it away it'd be a lot easier to hear if i gave you the microphone i guess john [Music] we're juggling we're juggling some issues here tonight that's what they'll do they'll hold on to it let the clock expire and take a knee and we'll go into halftime 14-7 dogs on top we'll step away for a couple minutes of break and be back with you here soon you

uh ancho monroe lucineri on the tackle he faked a pitch to number seven adrian mazzone that ended up handing but ended up handing it off to antrel monroe in the running back and it'll be second and six for passaic 55 seconds on the clock and counting clock is winding down two receivers left one right johnson takes the snap hands it off to the running back who tries to hurt old man but he just gets stonewalled and trump monroe just tried to hurdle somebody but he was just met up front and he gets tackled for a loss of one and it'll be third and seven the huddle breaks for passage two receivers right and one left monroe in the backfield johnson takes the snap rolls right and he is stopped in his tracks and it'll be third down i apologize that was joseph jackson on the throw and it'll be fourth down in eight for forsake and that concludes the first quarter and the mustangs have a 13-nothing lead and we will be back after a short intermission and here comes the forsake special teams out to start off the second quarter mustangs have a 13-nothing lead and the punt is up and it will be out of bounds it dropped at the 37 yard line but cliff but it went out of bounds at the 40 which is where clifton will begin their drive the mustangs previous to drives on offense both ended up being touchdowns and they were hoping they can get a 3p here and get another six points on the board one receiver left to right maldonado in the backfield kyle velos takes the snap has some time looking over the middle and he's got a man for a first down and more michael kristoff on the reception that was an 18-yard reception by wide receiver michael kristoff two receivers right and one left maldonado in the backfield velos takes the snap play action pass throws right for scenari he makes the catch and he's brought out of bounds at the 43-yard line that was a gain of one on the play and it'll be second down and nine for the mustangs two receivers left one right maldonado in the backfield velas takes the snap hands it off to maldonado who makes a very nice jump cut and will be brought down inside the 40 yard line at about the 38.

luke hammonds has run nine times for 14 yards as mentioned a stat line for hammonds passing the ball nine of 16 for 90 yards one touchdown cast header with six receptions 57 yards and blyth with three receptions 23 yards and a touchdown so coach glancing down the stat line here from the first half anything on that list surprise you uh no i you know i think um so i always expect huffman to have a big first half um so i'm a little surprised he doesn't have a few more yards but uh hammons has had to carry it a few times tonight uh he's carried it i think you said nine times so that's maybe a few more times than we would have expected him to to carry it um but good football game i mean columbus north looks good other than the maybe the fumble which was just a you know strip sack um hams isn't going to drop that ball too many times um that was a little bit surprising but because we haven't seen him make that mistake at all um on the other side of the football i think i think the lozano kid i think he came in right he rushed for about 350 yards up to this point in the season for him to have 90 in the first half i think is a is is a huge factor i think they they look like a really good ball club because he has those 90 yards he's he's clearly capable of uh throwing it as well we'll see how he does i'm sure he's charged up about the game i had a good first half uh i do think they got to get number 84 in the mix a little bit better um you know two catches for him is not it's probably not a great night for him to this point um so hopefully he comes out maybe catch a few more balls and we'll see a good football game you mentioned steinfeld 84 the iu commit he's averaging about 73 yards receiving per game so certainly below his average he's had some opportunities i would expect him to target him a little bit more here in the in the second half yeah this is gonna be a good football game all the way through i think to this point um bloomington had a few more penalties in the first half i can't remember what you said as far as penalties were there maybe three three penalties to columbus north i think only had one um but a really clean football game these both coaches should be i think pretty happy um i would imagine this is not more than a seven point game at the end of the night very evenly matched so far as mentioned next week columbus north travels to terre haute south that is a 7 30 start due to the travel and bloomington north hosts southport next week and that'll round out the that'll round out the regular season then it's then it's sectional time now we talked about that sectional game that's going to be a really good football game you know i i think you said earlier you know having center grove early um and first game obviously gotta get really prepared for that but columbus north looks healthy i think they look ready for that football game and in the fact that they played at home instead of at center grove where i guess you said last week center grove had 3 000 people at their stadium hard to play in front of 3 000 people so columbus north playing at home hopefully they'll come in prepared and win that football game a couple minutes here on the on the clock they usually add two or three minutes back on the clock at the end of half time here to get the teams out of the locker room and get them loose and stretched again i can't imagine columbus norfolk do much differently offensively they they did not did not capitalize on every drive they had but they also didn't seem to have trouble moving the ball in the first half i would expect to see much the same as you said maybe a few more carriers mohammed's here in the second half he looked really strong on that first drive and in uh not so much the the second quarter but i would expect him to go back to 34 here quite a bit yeah you know that that set that they ran there when they got that last touchdown that that redmond and and huffman in the backfield together was a good thing for them right i think they they they gave it to hammonds or excuse me they gave it to huffman a few times they gave it to redmond a few times i think that mix could could be one it's gonna it's gonna tire out the bloomington team uh trying to figure out who to tackle and who to chase down you got three guys that can run it really really effectively so that that set i'd be surprised we didn't see that again i want to see how we do there's a lot to a lot of the line here of course conference indiana uh titled to be taken here by the bulldogs that would secure that with a win here tonight they should at least get a share of it regardless what happens in the next two weeks but certainly uh although you've got brothers across the sideline from each other not something they would probably care to share between the two of them bloomington north will they won the toss to begin and deferred so they will receive here in the second half special thanks again to rue off home mortgage for their sponsorship ovation technology group first financial bank joey rentals and julia development and overhead door of south central indiana as well as the african american fund of bartholomew county it's always sad when they take the blow up helmet down coach end of halftime we talked about it earlier on i i think our our fans at home they'd like to know i mean how many guys can you actually get in the blow up helmet coach well i think it's a rite of passage i don't think you just i don't think you just show up in the blow-up helmet i think if you do there's gonna be a senior that's gonna tell you to get out yeah so it's the seniors and starters i would assume i think that's an honor to think have you ever had the opportunity to deflate and roll that thing up put on the cart no well it looks it looks challenging you're talking to a guy who has and it's not it's not it's probably exactly how you think it is yeah really difficult heavy and you know sure i'll help and 10 seconds later you're like yeah that's a bad idea yeah does it go on like a tube or something it just rolls up and sits in the back of the back of a little yard cart okay i believe that was a seat big big yard cart yeah kickoff has dropped 12 yard line picked up and he's swallowed up at this that is not how they wanted to come out and start the half 11 yard line yeah you don't go into the half and go in locker room and drop a play to drop the kickoff um so unfortunate to turn there for uh bloomington uh great for the bulldogs i just got him down on the 12. so we're starting on a 12-yard line it's dylan barrow 510 181 sophomore from bloomington north on the return there so b north has the ball to begin two by two formation excuse me trips with the tight end formation here single back lozano the quarterback he's gonna give gives a 10.

five yard carry by maldonado and it'll be third down and four to go the third down and four for the mustangs at the 37 yard line the huddle breaks two receivers left none lined up on the right two people lined up in the backfield mall donato will get the carry and he will get the first down he gets a gain of about seven on that plane he'll be brought down he was brought down at the 30-yard line which is enough for a clifton first down maldonado already with nine carries in the first half two receivers right one lined up a tight end manzanado on the backfield he will get the hand off jumps left he gets past the 20. he breaks another tackle and he's brought out bounds at the 14-yard line on a 16-yard carry for a mustangs first down jacob maldonado with another carry his 10th of the game and that one will be a yard carry the passaic indians will take their first time out that will leave two timeouts left for them and two timeouts left for the mustangs clifton using their first in the first quarter minutes and 51 seconds left on the clock here come both teams back onto the field mustangs will begin their drive at the 14-yard line after a 16-yard carry by running back jacob maldonado one receiver lined up left two lined up on the right velos play action pass rolls left looking end zone and it is caught let's see if they've marked it in balance and the ref says touchdown and there's another touchdown for the clifton mustangs a 14-yard touchdown quarterback kyle vellis with a beautiful throw what a beautiful throwing catch by the mustangs and that will give them a 19 nothing lead stanopolis on the extra point and it's a fake he's rolling right he's throwing end zone and it is picked off but there are no returns on kicks lock kicks whether they're blocked intercepted if they take it back the returns are automatically blown dead the touchdown last play was caught by joseph able number five tight end for the mustangs and the mustangs have a 19 nothing lead with 9 minutes and 44 seconds left to go in the first half stethophilus on the kickoff the kick is up and it is a short one there is a flag on the field and it looks like the mustangs were jumping before the kick even went off so they will be forced to move back they will re-kick from the 35-yard line due to the penalty stepophilis once again on the kickoff two men back deep to receive he's had two touchbacks today which are both good the kick is up and it will be received by physique and returned at the 15 yard line and he will get past it's a 30 yard line will be brought down at about the 34.

yeah good run to the outside for about a gain of four yeah this is this is one of those situations you're a bloomington team you start on your own 12. this could be a great thing for them if they can take the ball down and get some points if you start on your own 12 when you're down by seven you go down you get get a 90 yard drive it really changes the i mean for your team i don't think it hurts the bulldogs if they give up some points on a drive like this because i think they're mentally ready tonight but at the end of the day this bloomington team needs to make a big drive here and that doesn't help they're marching it back looks like a flag i don't know what the flag was yeah hold on i did not see that take it all the way back to the six did not see the penalty nor do i see the flag on the field no that's what that's what the pause was bloomington north side staff using the uh using the cards sending their formations get your thoughts on that here in a second that ball is deep down to the big senior there it is that's a catch for 32 yards we just talked about him targeting a little bit more you know for a big guy i mean he's a really big kid i mean he's he is legit it looks 230 um but really great hands i mean in the first half got a couple balls the first hat it looks like great great hands that was a great catch right there and a really big play for them bring up first and down first and ten from the 32 yard line cody michalich number 10 for the carry gain of five you know the the mickeleh myklich kid number 10.

there are multiple flags on the field okay and it is an illegal block in the back by forsaken and forsake will begin at their own 22-yard line after the penalty jackson takes the snap he hands it off to andrew monroe for a gain of maybe one but it'll be second down and nine a quick correction from earlier earlier in the game joseph jackson number five is back there at quarterback he will take the snap and hand it off to andrew monroe who will be tackled who will be tackled down after maybe another gain of one brian feliciano on the tackle and it'll be third and nine for passaic two receivers right two receivers left shotgun formation he takes the snap he throws right he's got a man and he will be brought down at the 24 yard line and it'll be fourth down for passaic that was a gain of three on the initial play but either way it still steps up fourth down and six and they are going to elect a punt two people back to receive for the mustangs two people back to receive look to be robins and blown apart the kick is up and it will bounce at about the 47 yard line robbins bobbles it picks it up and he gets past the 40 45 50.
