Mary's really I think they're gonna have to slow the game down a little bit and do whatever they can against these taller discovery KT players they're so tall they're really dwarfing just about every pirate player out there the tallest pirate out there is six to calhoun Paternoster bolt six two and see I think what st. Mary's needs to do here and I agree with this is put on a little full-court pressure try and commit a few turnovers here make discovery can you work that ball down the floor tire them out just a little bit revolution gets it to Anderson on the side Anderson drives inside can't get it to go gets his own rebound up misses again I guess he needs to dunk it to have the high percentage you were talking about Vince he'll make the dunk 100% of the time good job of rebounding by the Pirates Jack Johnson Smith is in there getting that money back to Hackley shot up won't go rebound Blackburn and they'll slow it down Darin a Wisman bringing it up coach Campbell calling out 41 Belton pushing Wisman way out Anderson sets the screen he goes the opposite way and discovery candy wolf slowly work the offense Anderson up top he's got some handle for a taller flare now Caleb Blackburn who is me we've been way over to the other Caleb and it goes golf a Seth Lawson's hand and out of bounds that's the second turnover that Wisman is committed here in this first quarter two errant passes and that's a result of some good pressure defense by st.

heel for him all season long and especially on these free hits and there's a good example right there when when you finally get possession of it you get set up when you want to try to find an open player and it seems like a lot of times you make that pass and yeah you'll see something that's there and all of a sudden it's not there and it goes the other way inside they're gonna call them obstruction against the Wildcats again and again it's just that means it's almost a natural instinct to obstruct when you play to any other sport and a lot of these girls come from other backgrounds soccer some even play you know ice hockey and it's just a natural thing that you think about is putting yourself between the balls and you cannot do that miss another sport that you know as we talked about field hockey its second season at Liberty well where do they get some of their players from while they drew some from soccer they've drawn a lot from lacrosse which is also a spring sport and very similar in a lot of ways to field hockey but again all of those sports use your body to protect that precious item whether it's the ball of the puck whatever it might be and you can't do that out here nope here come the Lancers trying to move it inside bamberg Oh has a stolen away good job defensively there by Lilly Carr bow ski well I almost just Charlie Brown's away from her I mean the ball liberty Kate hey chill came in and that ball was was coming ripe right at her she puts her stick down and plays it with the stick it rolls right up the stick hits her in the leg and leads to a corner for Saint Mary's their 7th of this game Avery Butler's been busy on corners for the Wildcats and the lancers really want to play some good defense here they've got right Jackie up front alongside karpowski that's where Butler's gone with five of her six previous ones and this time she'll come out to the other side to Neal and a great job there again the good defense by Kyle and McCullough who's done a great job all day for the Lancers that's a terrific play by McCulloch I know how that ball didn't hit her in the leg or the foot she got the stick in front of it played it off the stick and knocked it out of the circle it'll come back right Jackie beats Bourjois comes inside that one comes off another foot call that was that was Julia and a room oh that was that was fronting that shot and just couldn't get her stick on it so a free hit coming up for the Wildcats and this time they get a call on the opposite way the Wildcats will bring it back the other way seven minutes left here in the first half Lancers trying to move it ahead to Baum Berg Baum Bergen midfield pushing it forward gets it to do Devore over to Bombur GaN the right hand side quickly caught up from behind by Darien Smith and they're gonna call her for obstruction and it'll be Lancer ball right there here comes Bob Berg across the room oh who had the nice shot earlier in just missed and a room oh now pushes it tries to send a goal word now nice move inside bomb burg plays it it has to be kicked out of bounds off of the goaltender but a good job there by Kate Franck more when Liberty hasn't had a lot of opportunities on their offensive side of the field but when they do they seem to get a pretty good shot off and again that started with Riley hatch all in the middle who made a great outlet pass right down the center it got got Liberty going in the right direction but the shot goes a little wide they they got to get that ball in the circle and they need to get a violation get a corner of some kind they just can't sustain any kind of offensive pressure against this Wildcat team but the ball so far staying down here on the Liberty side of the field Riley Hatcher will play it there's a hit inside bourgeois can't handle it and the room OHS in there Bush while trying to still play that ball and we've got it a call on the far side and a free hit agile stolen away by the Wildcats and here they come well that was a ball right there you'd like to see that bass go in the circle rather than come back outside in a place that was contested this is Jasmine Beale coming all the way up the Mary's they had players they had bodies right in front that seemed wide open that ball just just went off of off of one of their legs and again here's the Wildcats and intercepting that free hit right Jackie pushing it forward but no whistle and Lancer Bowl the pregame show both of these teams you looked at them on paper very even they each have two wins on the season and they've come against the exact same teams Arapaho and Smoky Hill this season this couldn't get a shot good job defensively or a hatch whole but couldn't run it down almost ran right into our photographer Rob Parrish over there there's a look from his camera as virile Logan puts the ball back in play it's gonna go out to Louie a 16 yard hit for the Lancers speaking of being in play our cameraman Rob Parrish has been in play he's had the entire half right down in front of him he had a ball come in on his foot he had a player come right at him and there's a great shot from that camera right there on the field Rob Parrish doing the work and hatch hope it's it back in play try to get to swab stolen away by Loftus into right Jackie you try to get it back to Loftus with this one he's gonna go out and we'll have another 16 yard hit for the Lancers and a great idea I mean you don't see a whole lot of giving goes that are that clean like that a little pass and a and a give right back and they just miss connecting on it ken Hatch will play zit forward there's a whistle lancers will take it Lancers got to get moving trying to get the bomb burg up front bomber tries to play it now good hustle by the Lancers there in Madeline bourgeois trying to push it to the middle of the field doodle or comes back to get it and there's a whistle wildcat ball well we talked about the the all of these players most of them they play in another sport Mac due to Vlad goes in on that one like a face-off well she's a hockey player she plays ice hockey over at rampart and she is a good aggressive player on this lancer team you could see the play right there in the midfield and we talked earlier about how odd it is that you can't use your body to shield the player from the ball and here we go the Lancers might be in business with the free hit right here bourgeois moves it to the left sets it up sends it into the circle it hits a player and we were gonna have a first corner of the day for the Liberty Lancers time running out they were to set up quickly the clock runs down here into 20 seconds now here's another one for you Brian when you talk about some of the oddities well if the clock runs out they will still continue to play out the corner so they'll set the ball down on the baseline they'll insert this right into the right into the top of the circle and even if this clock expires they will play out the corner Kylie McCulloch will sweep this one into action she gets it to bourgeois bourgeois up front sends it inside players right there just goes off dude Warren out of bounds and that will do it for the first half but a nice try there by the Liberty Lancers but that's the way we'll end the first half Liberty finds themselves down two to nothing st.
Mary's pressuring Wisman out front and good job defensively as Hackley comes over and knocks that one out of bounds it'll be Thunder ball again when you're a smaller team your guys on the floor only six to six foot tall it's imperative you play good defense you've got to get your hands up you've got a pressure this Thunder team force them into turnovers Wisman now inside Anderson drop step block by Rado ray Dale comes forward sends it on the side Belton shot up there's gonna get called for the charge he can't believe it if it it's gonna be his second personal foul and I think that's a good call by the official look like the discovery Canyon player was completely had a speech set he sure did that's a good call by the official as Riley Marshall had positioned down around the paint and Felton will now come out as is Gabe Calhoun for the Pirates so two of the better players for that team the top two scorers are to their top three scorers sitting on the bench discovery Canyon breaks the press they're gonna call foul against st.

Mary's Academy Wildcats have a two to nothing lead on the Liberty Lancers and Dave they had so many corner hits in that first half you just knew they were gonna score sooner or later well Brian it was only a matter of time I mean Liberty spent that entire half 30 minutes defending in their own end I mean you've got to find a way to to get the ball on the other side of the field but the corner kick Saint Mary's had nine corners Liberty didn't get one until the last 30 seconds of the of the half st. Mary's with six shots on goal Liberty with they have yet to get a shot on net they did have one good chance Julia and a room Oh took a shot about 13 minutes left in that period and and took one and sent it just why to the of the cage but well you look at just the numbers I mean a period that was just dominated by Saint Mary's maybe you see a plane flying in the distance here at district 20 Stadium Peterson Air Force Base right down south of us here probably where that big guys headed got a great shot of hercules the c-130 yep that's our flyby for today right yeah half-time flyby and only take some the entire hundred yards it's a long way there's a whistle and the refs have donned jackets now so it's gonna be harder to see them they were in there nice pinkie fluorescent earlier anywhere to go with it she tries to lift it stolen away by du Devore pushing it ahead to bushwa Madeline couldn't run it down but Madison can and a Ramon Matheson play catch a little bit they're gonna call an obstruction right there by the Lancers yep sure isn't it that's just a perfect case of it your backs to your your own net you got the ball and you just try to make a turn move and you get called for obstruction here's Matheson moving in liberté let's see if they can retain some possession here bourgeois nope that ball was too high dangerous ball and it'll be Wildcats and I think that's the idea right there but you got to keep the ball down I mean she took a good swing in it that's a good hard drive but that that ball was rising and as it gets above the knees and even up into the waist area they will call that a dangerous ball and it goes over to the Wildcats knavery Butler plays the ball across the field nice steal by Penny Schwab penny Schwab's played a lot of time here for the Lancers in this game that made a real nice play with the stick as that ball bounced up on her she caught it took it away and here's Riley Hatcher with it in the midfield you usual malmberg gets a call and here come the Lancers moving forward riley hatchling in will take the free hit sending it over try to get it past Schwab to bombard on the side Schwab now has it show go to malmberg Romberg we mentioned the most dangerous player on this Lancer team sends it inside there in the circle but the Wildcats have it we get a call we're gonna have another corner for the Lancers well I took him a while I was this to get the ball in the circle they kept passing it to the outside and they make a short pass get it into the circle good things happen when you get in there and once they got it in they got the football and Liberty will get a offensive corner caelum McCulloch and her teammates huddled up there a little bit talking about the play by bourgeois bourgeois on the left and another whistle and again a corner for the Lancers well this looks like the first half with the team swapping it certainly does a good start for liberty and as their coach Jessica Koski was telling me with these corners offensively the girls on the field kind of decide what play they want to run and where they want this ball to go and let's see what they came up with a color comes out to hatch all hatch alais into the circle and again another call Darien Smith was yeah went right off of the foot of Darien Smith and that was Riley hatch ill stopping that ball and maybe took a little too much time with it but when she let it go went off the foot of Darien Smith in another corner for the Lancers McCulloch this time comes to anteroom oh and a room Oh tries to play it forward good job of the Wildcats just coming out and just defending the ball there's a steel Lancer shot by hatching inside several girls in the circle but I believe it hit a foot down there and it's gonna come out and be Wildcats ball it sure did I think it might have hit Tina Bomb Berg and well I like the way that play unfolded right there though good steal turnaround send that thing right into the circle a couple of bodies down there for liberty but just didn't get the bounce Lancers doing a good job keeping the ball on there half the field so far this half nice steal there by Jessica plans plans will push it forward looking for do devar and we get a call and again a free hit here for the Lancers boo schwa sets it up she'll come to the corner with it and another hit by Butler right there obstruction Lancers get it again Butler steals the ball and gets it outside hatchling Achille comes back she'll set it into the circle but nobody there for the Lancers lots more intensity here on the offensive end for the Lancers here in the second half they've done a great job well like two completely different teams I mean you'd like to seen this team come out of the locker room to start the game instead they they got off to a slow start but I like picking it up here in the second half and another corner for the Lancers at their third day that is their fourth of this half with the gap it's the game yep so we will see them set this up now like to see them attacking like you said so far when they're getting these sweeps out to the front they're stopping the ball and just taking too much time with the ball and the wildcat defenders are right in their face if they can quickly pass it once they stop it they might be in business Schwab with a stop here passing it forward sweep it into the circle players are in there nice shot by Judah Vardhan is blocked well good chance that was a save right there and dutiful or we'll get a look at it here on the highlight there's the corner it gets past Schwab makes the stop though here's the stop it's in the in the circle comes right over to do to fought turns and gets a shot but a nice save by the goaltender coming across that was Kate Frank more Wildcats coming out now Calma Lancers will keep it it's really is flopped from the first half where the Wildcats had the ball for most of the first half on their end Lancers pretty much turning the tables here Mary's that's Logan Almquist who just checked into the game and it's a good idea by the Pirates they're trying to trap discovery play Canyon up high once they crossed that half-court line it just didn't work that time as the foul was called against the Pirates Deron Whisman shows who's a nice shooting touched from the free throw line they'll have another Gaines the bonus with that first make second one got it wow that's a smooth looking shot five points for a wisp in here in the first two quarters of play and now he knocks the ball out of bounds almost a steal by Wisman Almquist take it again five six junior for the Pirates and we got a timeout called by discovery Canyon coach Campbell must have seen something he wants to discuss with his team we'll take a timeout as well 641 left second quarter we'll be back with more on 20 TV you st.

can get a good play off a corner they can get themselves right back into this game down 2 to nothing that's exactly what they need I mean they get they got to get something good to happen they're getting opportunities now now once you get those opportunities you have to find a way to finish bourgeois we'll get this sweep she's missus well we wanted to see it drive going in toward the net and done a great job in ow ow penny Schwab took that one good thing to have shin pads but not a lot of protection for these players out on the field that ball is hard that is very hard and it is it is a little cool out there there's there's some Sun and some shadows but yeah that that's gonna sting whistle Reagan right checky with the ball she'll send it forward and I steal there and there's a trip and a call and the Lancers will get the ball and we're gonna have a card are we gonna get a card here I think we are yeah it's gonna go that's it that's a trip and it's a you know it almost goes down as an intentional foul she was trying to trying to play it but you can see the ref go in and make that motion like hey you can't take a swing at the legs and trip the player no call on it but almost like a little teaching moment right there we'll get a look at it right there and yeah there's the the stick that gets that gets under the feet of uh dutiful aw I don't mind that so much a lot of these players haven't played this sport very long it's nice to the officials take the time to explain to them what happened and you know maybe getting the benefit of a call here and there Matson pushing it Brian it seems like it still it must be I don't know if grass can grow in a turf field but it is growing on the end or left over here there's not a lot of activity on the north end of this field
