so a little bit of um i'm sorry 500 i didn't have that right but you get what i'm saying so the idea is everybody's job changed this year everybody's job changed and everybody has stepped up and i think that's part of what amanda was just saying we know how many wonderful things people have done for us um if nothing else it's a it's a token of appreciation from the district for all of the effort that people have put forth this year then we're looking at salaries insurance and benefits for 21.5 of our virtual teachers that's to backfill this year's budget salaries benefits salaries insurance and benefits for 16 transition teachers for next year at our various sites same for one full-time el teacher this would be a desert valley they have a large number of el students and given the regulations for what we need to do for el students under the circumstances for next year would be a full-time position and then one additional specialist teacher for desert valley because with their numbers they'll have six sections at several grade levels and five at the others and so to make the special sketch schedule work we need that and the specialist teachers are actually the ones who recommended a health and nutrition position but that it be a certified grade level teacher so that if things change that person would still have a position in a regular classroom salaries and benefits for 29 after school program folks for programs this is part of that requirement and of course we support the idea but a doing things that are going to help kids close those gaps and enrich other kids we need to work on our pacing guides they're going to be very different next year if you think about it since you're both teachers and you know this that most of the time in in typical years you have students kind of clustered on the continuum of learning and so you know they're kind of clustered and then there are outliers but this year has provide has provided situations that have gaps and so that that continuum those kids are spread out over that continuum much more and so we want to make sure that uh that our pacing guides reflect what needs to happen for kids to close those gaps we need some training for a lot of people so special ed paraprofessionals office staff technology administrators we will have six new administrators this year and two administrators who have been principals for less than three years so we have some real need to make sure that everybody's on the same page and that we're all moving forward together the amplify reading and dibbles and dyslexia training dyslexia is something that has dyslexia training has been mandated by the state uh in a legal action last year in a law action last year and but of course not funded typical of the legislature you know give us a directive and no money to do it and so we want to make sure we've got those folks trained additional professional development for classified and certified employees related to increasing student performance and again that's part of that 20 percent that we have to make sure we're doing and then so you see others and then you see the air quality study my intent here is for us to have good data for us to decide on what we might do with s or three funds for things that might have to do with infrastructure and other things related to the district and not wait until we get us or three money to start that process so this is the one item that really does not have to do with people and helping kids directly but it's aimed at us figuring out how uh how to better have healthy environments supplemental resources and study guides and those kinds of things and then we have some indirect cost recovery down there you always build some indirect costs into grants this helps pay for the people who have to put all this stuff together and make it work so that's our proposal i would say to you that one of the things we know about any of these proposals is that we give you the best numbers we can give you but as we roll along some things end up costing a little less than we thought they would cost and other things a little more so uh the the actual dollar amounts for each one of these fluctuates uh for the life of the grant and this is something that this is a grant then that runs through next school year into the into the beginning of the following school year all of those dollars have already been approved yes so this isn't something that we're going to get changed no um just a couple things that stuck out to me um you did mention you know the training yes with all the new people coming in um i was very apprehensive at first when we talked about this um but it it does make sense we've used west ed in the past getting everybody back on that same board on that same page and really just starting starting anew with what we've got this is a good time to do it um could you go up one page please another thing that i did want to point out we did ask you to find money yes excellent job um that's that's awesome um just so there is clarity on this this is not in replace of current benefits salary anything this is additional this is yeah not 301 yes yes this is not does not mess with nope no in addition to yes they're currently already three or one months yes this is this is straight out of this grant and it's um you know it we don't often have money to do these kinds of things even when we want to i mean we frequently want to do these things you know and we don't have the funds to do that so it is it's it's a real pleasure to be able to take money right off the top of this grant to do this kind of thing both the signing incentive and the the appreciation you know the risk the risk appreciation money yes yes yes so the two thousand dollars is this year yes the 2025 are the people that have signed their contract and stay the entire school year next year get that paid at the end of the year yes so that's awesome that's awesome so we're yeah and and i also want to say that um you know that mrs lott writes our grants and and does all of this work and and i frequently am the one saying to her okay i want to make sure we can do da da da da da and she puts it in there and then i was working on budget all week and having nightmares about this 14 million dollar budget and i'm going to and i'm saying we've got to find some money in esser to backfill this other piece and of course she gives me dirty looks and then she goes and does it so huge huge kudos to mrs lott for handling all of the details of this you know i want you to know that she's the one who does the hard work great job and this is this is really going to come in handy thank you uh any other questions on the uh spending plan no no i think it's great awesome then i move we approve the sr2 spending plan as presented i second all in favor aye corey burgess hi brandy dubois hi amanda amen so moved item 5.13 approve the bs bcsd contribution to health employee health premiums health pharmacy dental vision and life dr stewart mr president board members it's that time of year when we uh when we consider the plan and what the district is going to contribute to the insurance i'm not afraid to say that as long as i'm on board and as long as we have the money to do it i'm going to always recommend to the board that we pay 100 percent of some plan for our employees i recognize that sometime in the future that might not be possible and i know that there are other places that can't and don't do that but as long as we can and can financially afford it i will recommend it so i've given you three options there based on the additional information from the kairos plan the good news for us is that the kairos numbers when we signed the contract with them a year ago was for two years with a guarantee of no more than a seven percent increase and this is exactly a seven percent increase based on some information from other insurance folks that we know and who are on the uh our area trust seven percent is a really good number for this year because it tends to have gone up another 14 or 15 percent so but i also wanted to give you the options two other options to think about which is that the district would pay for the fifteen hundred dollar uh high deductible plan uh plus the vision and uh dental and life insurance and then just so you could consider the dollars that we pay the co-pay the same plan but not pay for the vision and dental just to give you some numbers to compare had these numbers looked much different than this i might have made a different recommendation but given that we're really only talking about a 75 000 increase in the cost of the district for next year and that's partly because of the reduction in positions to be perfectly honest that i recommend plan a which will cover all of the employees all employees who are full-time employees right and that is vision dental life and accidental so that's a yes and medical pharmacy yes and it's the copay plan that's on the the kairos document any employee can buy up to the the core plan or they can buy up to the high high deductible if they want to but this is the one that we would pay for every full-time employee any questions have we talked about no families the the trust our local trust had a long discussion about that last year before they recommended this kind of a plan because they're concerned about you know everybody's concerned about the high cost for families at the time both of the both of the vendors who are willing to insure us because nobody else is right now just simply said okay you could reduce the amount that it costs for families to have family coverage but that will increase the cost for individual employees and that and the trust board said our first obligation is to our employees and so you know they recommended that we continue to keep the lower price for the individual employees even even when it resulted in higher rates for families i'm not quite sure why this always keeps coming up at the time they were answering that and corey asked me about it this evening as well the districts both districts pay for those two individuals just as two individuals how that other piece works i'm not quite sure i know it went up for families in those situations but they all went up i mean the family situation the family amount went up regardless whether it's the amount that whether the difference between what was being paid before and being paid now i don't have those details and so i'm not going to pretend to be able to answer that i think that that's a question for for those families who for whom that's an issue to talk either with the insurance the benefits person at the at the district so here it would be uh with darlene um to find out what what that's all about and we could track it down that way that was a big issue that we were having last year at both districts when we were looking at insurance information was having dual spouse with families and how that number doubled and they weren't really able to cover so that was the the concern and so as long as we're focused and we're in including kind of everybody we just want to make sure that right we work with options or give them thoughts and suggestions of where they can go outside to help with that offsetting cost when it's dual spouse and children because it it almost doubled it was more than like a paycheck and every month and and i'm not i don't dispute that necessarily because i don't know but i will tell you that when the trust board was here and and was considering both plans the asbate plan and the kairos plan the same thing was true for both plans the the family rates went up significantly in both plans so you know i don't know what i don't know how much of it is just the increase that would normally be there and how much of it is i don't know i don't pretend to be that much of an expert but i think that it's worthwhile for those folks to go ask the questions and find out what's going to bring some on those dual spouse on board too to talk about the insurance and you know thoughts and options as well maybe they do have some feedback i think that because because the current trust has the trust board has ambassadors from each uh site you know so whoever at each site is selected but maybe one of those folks could be selected to represent their site as an ambassador to that group all right i like that okay well i would like to move that we approve the b c s d contributions employee insurance premium which is a um as presented can i get a second all second i second sorry brandy dubois i thought you were going to all in favor aye corey burgess hi brandi dubois amanda ayman still moved item 5.14 approval of new principles mr president and board members uh i'm very pleased to to recommend to you uh two uh homegrown and uh one other individual for principal ships lester eastman for fox creek junior high kenny churchwell ford desert valley those are our homegrown i guess kenny considers himself homegrown at this point because he's been here a year and brianna randall who is currently a principal at canai central high in alaska but currently is on fmla and living in arizona and is very interested so these are the three people that were recommended by the committee for these positions any questions then i move we approve the new principles as presented high second all in favor aye corey burgess hi brandi dubois i'm amanda amen so moved item 6.1 future topics do we have any future topics the board would like to discuss i do have one i would like to talk about when we're talking positions a tax credit position somebody that can oversee that tax credit move we really need to get on board in this i think we're missing a huge market um so i would like to maybe make that a workshop item okay and we can discuss yeah so you can give me some ideas okay um i did see um mr um lance ross out and about promoting it um in public in a couple places i've been so i would like to thank him for that too thank you i'm i'm talking big um so yeah but yes that's something we can discuss in a workshop um any other future topics um just maybe uh more talk about the employee retention and potential for prospects for hire as of the end of the year growth grows closer all right would you like that to be a workshop item also yes please all right sounds good any anything else all right uh upcoming board events we have a few on there uh sba trainings um as with any asp training it's open any board members that would like to attend um just let us know if you'd like to beat any of those and 6.3 date time and location um may 13th i'm just looking at my calendar and mr president i will say we probably need to meet that that date because we will have a revised budget that has to be submitted by the 15th so can't be any later than the 15.

on the horse here about the calendar I disagree uh mainly just the whole beginning and end of the year I think we need to look into a this calendar again it doesn't happen overnight but in light of all the comments about climate change and how we're getting hotter around here and what uh the back you know the the effects of this year's change has done I'd like us to look into you know what what has it cost us you know moving the calendar up a month you know now we've got kids kids going back in the heat of August we are Southern California and I think we need to think like Southern California and not back East um August and September are our hottest months and we are now in session and we've got kids passing out on the fields practicing for softball um I I just think we need to to take a look again at our calendar and um I I'm going to ask this this is one of my recommendations at the end but anyway right now we're just amending it for those two days right um yes and also just okay so but you know we can't change this this calendar for next year it's it's kind of set but we can start looking at changes for the future so anyway said my piece uh any other comments seeing we'll move on to 1129 superintendent compensation so move second I have a motion in a second questions comments All right we are here [Music] to discuss his compensation would someone like to [Music] sure you know we we were provided a list of of salaries of superintendent throughout Orange County and uh looking at where Mr matsuda Falls in line with that he's number uh 19 out of 27 19th down uh more more than halfway uh obviously uh his salary is less than feeder schools that come into us and you know that those feeder schools have two three maybe 4,000 students and we have uh about 29,000 students uh over the years he has shown us as board members and the district in in total um his his leadership in the way of being a cre creative educational uh leader he has going along with that he has implemented along with his obviously his staff that he directs uh career Pathways uh CVA which is new this year artificial intelligent uh program biotechnology program uh cyber security uh iLab and and developed relationships with uh higher education which is all uh benefiting our students not only today but in the past over the years and especially for the future to come we know that um education is changing drastically uh in the United States and it has to in order to keep up with the world uh we cannot teach to the test we cannot teach to get uh test scores uh we have to be Innovative thinkers and that is one thing that Mr matsuda has has showing us is he is an Innovative thinker and has led his uh executive cabinet to do the things that we are doing now and to be uh paying him a salary at the level that he is being compensated at right now um I think is I maybe this is this is my word a misjustice uh he came in I think he's uh I think he's on his seventh year or has completed his seventh year now and all this time that he has been the superintendent he has always been at the lower threshold uh when he became a superintendent um he had a very steep heill to climb but he proved proved himself by by climbing that that uh very steep mountain and he's still climbing uh we are all still climbing to to we will never reach the top but he has I think shown uh his ability to be a a definitive leader not only within our district but within the county within the state and he's being recognized throughout the nation for his leadership and his ability to to bring these new and Innovative and necessary ideas in education so I think we need to start um uh compensating him for what he has been uh bringing to the district okay I will can I okay no you can't talk I'm going to talk no I I just wanted to add on that are you done Mr O NE for now for now okay I just want to say too and we've had a few comments from the public um angry at Mike and want wanting him to know he doesn't deserve a raise well I totally disagree um if anything we we were lucky this year we got a cost of living increase from the state and we've been able to pass that cost of living on to our employees uh you know our our and so he's an employee and he deserves that if and more because this has been a tough year and like Mr O'Neal has said Mr matsuda has been climbing that mountain of you know learning and doing things in this district and he has come up with some phenomenal ideas that he has held you know the cabinet to work on we are now I think even better District than we were before because we are we are teaching and going trying to teach our kids to live in the 21st century we're not just doing Reading Writing and arithmetic we are preparing them for careers and living in the 21st century and that's because of some of these unique programs that he came up with I think our aim program is outstanding and phenomenal and then we have you know artificial intellig and we have biotechnology we've got all kinds of programs that are unique and are setting our kids up for Success so you know there a lot of our parents were angry because they know we didn't open school and they're kind of taking it out on I think I feel they're taking it out on Mike but it's not Mike that made that decision it was the board so I think we need to remunerate him I agree with Mr O'Neal he is uh under what our feeder districts are and I don't believe in having to be the best or matching everybody but I do think we have to remunerate him and the base not just you know the minimum cost of living but an additional amount because he has really worked hard this past year and the years in the in the past as well so I agree we need to kind of bring him up and so um I just wanted to say that because there were some comments about not wanting him to have a raise but I had to cover that because I I don't think that's right you know so now Mr javar your turn well um I want to concur with but Brian mentioned I think you had a whole host of programs that were actually implemented under Mike and uh but not all inclusive either that was just part what's that that was just part of the list part of yeah that was part of the list and I think I mentioned this uh when we were discussing before when you are giving a race to someone you evaluate based on their performance from last year to this year and you also take into account the overall aspect of where the district was from the time that you were hired or he was hired to the time that we are in right now and I think you have not only established our strong team with you and that's part of your talent to look at folks who are talented and bring them aboard and they might not necessarily agree with you but you bring them aboard because you want to build a strong team and as a result we've actually established a strong ahst I know during a comment there was a parent who mentioned that I said that all of the districts around around Orange County look up to a uhsd uh I might be wrong it's not only around Orange County but around the state and around the nation people look up to what we're doing because we are being Innovative and the reason that we're being Innovative is because we have a person who is bringing innovative ideas to the board and to the team in order to make our students better for the 21st century and beyond um and I think as a result you look at other districts and not to put other districts down but you take a look at the other districts and compensation also Begins by evaluating where other superintendent are and what they bring to the table and how it uh how you evaluate our superintendent against what they're doing in their districts and I firmly believe that we're doing a of course I'm biased but I firmly believe that we are doing a better job than most other districts in terms of moving our students to the Future uh I think biotechnology and uh uh artificial intelligence nobody else is thinking about that and we are bringing up for the new programs all under your leadership which I think is a very Innovative path that we're taking so I agree we got to take a look at it and uh we got to not only compensate uh the the amount that we give in terms of cost of living raise but beyond that so that's where I'm at I don't need to add to what has already been said Mike matsuda is an innovator and when I look over the years that I have served in this position the changes that we have made in our class classrooms and in these um types of programs that we have are now entertaining and running we've gone from what I used to see as everybody should go to college and I have known that my entire life that is not a good thing to think people young people need to be given an opportunity to find their pathway what brings them joy and happiness in life whether they go to college and make a presentation at a school board about solar or they do plumbing or construction if they're happy we've done our job and I think the fact is when I look back when I was in school it was a choice of teacher nurse or secretary that's all the the mentality was and I think of I look around in this this room with these pictures of all of the things that have been innovated primarily by our superintendent the public does not understand or could they possibly know the work that has gone into creating these programs bringing them in establishing them finding the teachers that can teach them and considering this horrific time that we have had with this covid and dealing with it I live in one of the highest covid areas and I understand because we I know so many families that have lost more than one more than two people in their families so you can't just open one school and leave the other's clothes or pick and choose it's not the reality of what the laws are the other thing I'd like to say about our superintendent is truly a person that I trust when I ask him a question I can believe him and the people that he has selected to be on his team follow in that same path and I can tell you as a board member when we handled the deals that we do in schools Beyond solar Beyond construction Beyond buses and all the changes that have occurred it's a huge undertaking and um very stressful for many people I worry about many of the people that are dealing with these different areas of education but I feel we've done the very best considering the information that we have and that we will open these schools and um I just want to say uh to our superintendent thank you and I want to thank every person in this room that works with you because I I think of you every day and I feel very blessed that you are the ones running this school department and I thank you uh totally agree with everything that everyone has said so far um as Brian said there's so much more um the reason that you are a superb superintendent is because of the people that you brought in and the people that you you know that you brought in to us um you our Partnerships we have now what 70 75 different Partnerships um people want to work with our kids and that's due in part to um your leadership to your your vision of of bringing them in um that's why Al people are envious of auhsd what do you mean you have 75 Partnerships businesses nonprofits that want to come in and work with your kids how do you do that we get that all the time um when we talk talk to our colleagues and other at other sites in Orange County they're always asking us how do you how did you get your teachers to agree to this it's like it takes work and it's taken seven years of working together as a team because you come in and you came in with compassion and you came in with kindness you came in with a service attitude service learning that was one of the first things that you brought to this District you said we're going to teach our kids to give back that's why ahsd um is is is um looked at and envied throughout the county the state the the N the nation because we lead with compassion Mental Health Services you brought in we started with with one social worker and we have now almost one at every site you've expanded where we've needed to expand yes this year was challenging but this team Rose to the occasion um the people that don't understand what education is in auhsd doesn't they do not understand that we had our teachers trained in the in in the the most uh with the most Integrity they're not just giving out worksheets and busy work and we were able to Pivot in the middle of the year to make it even better to dive deeper um everything that this board has asked you to do you have done it every year um I don't know how you do it but you get better and better and better every year you you have had outstanding and I can say that to everyone you've had outstanding evaluations and that deserves comp compensation um I hope that you're not out there looking to leave us uh but you know I'm sure people want you I'm sure people want to pluck you out of here um but you've remain focus and steadfast with this District um we know why you love ahsd we know your story we know um we know where your heart is and where it lies and you've worked without the compensation that you've deserved so it is only appropo that we do something about that when we can so I wholeheartedly would agree with um AR raise so the question is how much much do we recommend or how much do we decide to to uh uh recommend I just did a real quick calculation um he is almost 40% under the highest superintendent in Orange County and he's about 30 three or so percent under the second highest so as I said he is he is number 19 down the list so you can see there's a huge huge huge gap and I don't think anybody at the dasis is suggesting that we even try to to uh bring Mr matsuda up into that range because we we also think they are overcompensated at least some people do maybe not all but some people do um but Brian before you get into that to I just want to highlight one of the things superintendent from our feta School District who have fraction of our student population are above uh our superintendent by a significant amount uh there's Centralia there's Magnolia there's Anaheim elementary uh so I I want to take that into consideration too but I will be um happy to see what you're proposing and then yeah I don't I don't know if there is a right number at this time I don't know if there's a right number in the future uh Mr matura um because uh I how do you put a value on what we just said so as I said in the beginning it's a it is a beginning of uh bringing you into um an area of reasonableness not going to happen this year not going to happen next year um but I'm going to I'm going to put out a percent and of course it's up for discussion you can tell me to leave for a while or you can even boost it that's that's up up to you but I'm going to recommend the 6% increase for Mr matsuda I think you're in the same ballp pack as what I was thinking just gonna I would agree with that yeah that put you okay um okay Mr O'Brien oh O'Brian I did it again you almost say that earlier but I I CAU myself earlier yeah okay Mr O'Neal well that's what you for having Brian O'Neal your name say it's O'Brien and O'Neal okay um okay I hear what you're saying and um I I you know we are kind of doubling what the cost of living uh raise is um I hope that um you know I I I don't know I'm I'm not sure I totally agree with that but uh um we need to be careful as well you know right now with what you know uh the where we're going I know we're getting some monies from the state you know we got cost of living and we have a lot of other monies coming in but they are with strings attached you know they have you know a lot of conditions to them so and then we're going to be hit in in a year with a real decline in enrollment income so um I understand the desire to bring him up I I would like to do that too but I'm not sure that I'm up for 6% at this time um I I I I think five I don't know about six though all right so that's where I'm coming from what do we do do we uh make a motion and then take the vote and I think that probably would be appropriate to make a motion and uh and then if it goes down then we take another motion okay all right so were you going to agree or do you want me to make the motion you can make the motion okay I make a motion that we increase Mr matsuda's salary by 6% second yes so discussion's I think pretty much done we could take a vote and then further discussion obviously further discussion just to you know I I always look at you as our financial Guru on the board uh I think we all you know we all uh understand numbers but youve in particular the the the nine years that I've been on the board have always been fiscally um thoughtful and responsible and so um I trust that um 6% is something that I think the district can handle I think we're doing very well with the money um I think that um you know we've been compensating our employees um when we can um as well as we can and you know we've brought them up we've been bringing up employees uh to to the fair wages I think that um 6% is a very fair number and so I would agree with you trusty if I if I could ask a clarifying question um just about the motion um if if we could clarify the intention of when the change would go yes I I wanted to clarify that thank you so this 6% is retroactive back back to July 1st as the other increases for the rest of the the um District are receiving thank you thank you okay so for clarification basically you are giving him a 3% raise I'm going to look at it like that a 3% raise because the cost of living is just everybody's getting that well they're getting a right now some of them are getting was at 3.26% so it's he's getting a 2.74% over the rest or some yeah because it's not all negotiated but yes I I and I don't think that is a a a [Music] huge huge amount of money compared to what we're seeing here and what you know if he was to say well you know you guys aren't doing fair to me I'm I'm going to I had an offer down the down the street and we have to go and hire somebody else at uh where we don't want to be well or we can't afford to be and I I think that's a fair point to make because at the end of the day you got to also look at I mean hopefully Mr muda will stay here on with us for the rest of the term but if he were to to right leave we have to increase what we are offering to a new superintendent because for us to be competitive and hire somebody who's uh topnotch I I think we might have a challenge attracting favorable candidates for the amount that we we've been paying him right now so that needs to be taken into consideration as well so I agree okay Mr Smith any comments no okay seeing none take a vote yep do we have to do this roll call too can we put the question out one more time yes there 6% increase retroactive back to July 1st of 2020 like everybody else like everybody else in the district thank you I think it needs to be a roll call aboute right yes okay yes it is a roll call vote okay Mrs tro wish we could do more I Mr O'Neal very good after how many years I know your name I'm sorry it's just like 4.2 okay I Mr javar I Mrs Smith I and I will vote I okay so it's unanimous okay moving on to item 11.30 Board of Trustees proposed meeting date change action item move second okay any questions or comments we're moving the June 10th 11 no 12.10 e and 12.11 some second I have a motion in a second okay any questions or comments okay um can we take these together sure all right Mrs tro hi Mr O'Neal abstain Mr javar hi Mrs Smith I and I vote I okay 12.15 some move second second second okay okay so I I just wanted to highlight this uhou uh I know that this will be basically uh maybe Jaren you could talk a little bit about it and I want to highlight a couple of things there actually here she connected with this group to bring help bring this this uh partnership in and it is supposed to helpes those I believe that are notur to help na okay so that ucational aspect all right that's two that's zero for two okay right we don't have we didn't have two people to answer the questions but I'll go ahead and highlight it I just wanted to make sure that we highlight that we're enrolling uh eligible youth to available Healthcare and Social Services uh also using this program to educate families on how to navigate their child's health coverage and these all key issues that we have to be really focusing on especially uh with the covid uh I think we've seen that our our communities are facing a lot of uh need in terms of navigating the the health coverage issue so uh increasing the utilization of Health Services increasing re-enrollment so I'm glad that we're doing this uhou so having said that call for a vote okay Mrs tro I have vot I there Mr O'Neal I Mr Jabar I and Mrs Smith I and I vote I okay that takes care of the consent items moving on to item 13 superintendent and staff report no report no report Nancy what was that what the oh yeah I thought you mentioned it yeah yeah okay I just wanted to get a update just for the public conception but yeah I thought we mentioned it yeah okay Nancy did you have any report to give okay all right Board of Trustees Mrs tro okay um really quick uh I attended my Roop meeting my Gela meeting uh they're still not um in person I think uh I think we may do that next week uh attended the uh John Hopkins one of the um the sessions there uh attended the um ethnic studies task force meeting um and two elap meetings which are just phenomenal that we're doing all of that I think what we're getting up to 200 people 250 still um uh attended the um South talks and they did a recording for their open house and we judged uh three amazing students it was very difficult to have to judge them uh but we did it and um but uh it was just a delightful event um for their civic engagement projects um I met with uh three students that um needed that wanted to meet with a board member and I think they also met with you miss piy on their civic uh Action project um and uh if I'm not mistaken they were also going to try to meet with uh one of our uh County uh board members and um they talked about uh racial um issue R racial bias issues uh very delightful students um Teresa shimawa students I'll give a shout out to her and and um I attended the Ambassador interviews it seems like it was like a long long time ago uh we uh came up with um amazing ambassadors for next year they're going to be phenomenal and our student rep is going to be phenomenal too um can you tell us what school the student board rep is from can we announce what can we announce what school I think if we say the school you'll know so we better not okay we better not I don't want to jump together yeah we better we better not uh I I know that they've been notified the students but I think let's let's let them but it was grueling it was 8:00 in the morning till 5:00 it was 530 day of interviews like 20 minute interviews and they all showed up and they were all phenomenal students we are an exceptional District um there was a legislative action week with csba and uh I was able to work uh to uh go meet with two of our legislators um actually one of our legislators uh the other was with the AIDS uh Tom D's AIDS and uh then Sharon cork Silva met with our group uh advocating for um education public education I also um sadly attended um the uh service for um Joe Treo and um although it was a lovely service it was um extremely emotional heartfelt um many of our employees um attended and um so sad for their family and uh may he rest in peace and that's it Mr O'Neal okay I attended uh you did you say years of service did you tend that and years of service let me put on my glasses so I can read um four open houses and they're always interested interesting online because each school does does it differently uh so you have to try to figure out what they're doing but excuse me uh orange view catella Oxford and Dale um I attended a sister city meeting and a principal meeting and a budget meeting and so I'm looking forward to when we can do them in person but instead of online that's it Mr javar yeah I've been uh attending some of our obviously our clinics and uh glad to see our partnership like I mentioned before uh many of our staff have been helping out with uh getting folks vaccinated in Anaheim so that's uh nice to see ahsc taking the lead uh in making that happen for our community I did attend the sou Junior talk uh it was really tough to judge all three students but they were fantastic and I think uh if you get an opportunity we should probably have uh at least the winner come out and speak at one of our board meetings because uh it was was the contest down uh one was regarding uh the importance of wearing masks oh um yeah so I think that's the person who actually won if I'm not mistaken right uh and uh she did a fantastic job of uh explaining why we should be doing it and so I think I I'll highly encourage her to come and give the speech at a board meeting one of the days or when I say virtually maybe if possible uh I did attend sadly our uh service for Joe tro was a very lovely Service uh and then we I attended the ROP meeting and uh I also had the uh honor of escorting some of our Anaheim High School journalist students uh visiting couple of our clinics they had such amazing questions to ask of uh folks uh and really uh did their due diligence in terms of coming and looking at not only the the clinics but also asking questions from the doctors and the patients who are coming through or not the patients of people who are getting vaccinated um and really writing up and I'm looking forward to the story they actually went through uh two of the clinics that we were at and they had a really good opportunity to take a look at it I also attended the csba ledge uh briefings uh went to uh Senator Josh Newman's briefing uh Senator was there in person always very uh enthusiastic to talk about education and then we also had a briefing with uh assemblyman daily staffers that's it thank you okay I haven't been as busy as all of you but um I did want to ask uh the superintendent if can I can I interrupt I just want to take and also thank you for writing that oped I think that was something really really uh important that needed to be said and I appreciate you taking the time to write that and uh well I had some wonderful help from our IPO he typed it out and sent it off and I did speak to a a parent called me and suggested that that be put on Aries because part of the big problem that we have societally I don't know what people don't know I don't know what people's sources are and people might hear something but they don't believe it so I think that explanation of uh if it went on our website on Aries uh per the suggestion it might be very helpful for people to understand why we have done what we have done and then I wanted to ask the superintendent if we could have a list of the feeder districts that come to us how many of them are open and how many are closed or how many are hybrid cuz Walt Disney is around the corner for me and there's no activity but there's seems to be some activity at times so I think that that is a telling because that's in that high CO District or um zip code Kathy what did you ask I didn't hear you want to what if we could have a listing of the feeder districts that come from the elementary feeder districts I couldn't hear all that she said and I know it's so hard how many are open and how many are closed how many are on hybrid cuz Walt Disney around the corner from my home I see some activity but I can't even until the school is open there's no Bell no sounds no nothing so but I see cars they've been giving out technology well some of the schools require their teachers to come to to the classroom to teach and that might be but if we could at least have a handle on what because that helps the public to understand what the reality is thank you and I want to thank the board I think you are very caring people you really love this community and we're we're wonderful community and I just feel so blessed to have lived here this long and to have served on this board and have had wonderful people in my life I have nothing more to say okay um basically you know some of the stuff I've done I did the Ambassador interviews with an Marie and it's just some of these kids are so outstanding it's just so much fun it was a long day but it was still enjoyable um I did attend a parent learning walk at catella that was very interesting uh lot of parents I don't know um I attended the legislative action meetings through csba I did the one with uh uh Sharon cork Silva and she was really understanding I mean I just love meeting with her because she was a teacher and she understands and uh we brought up some things for her that she said oh she agreed with them and she was going to work on them um I went to another couple of go-to webinars uh different ones throughout the county several of them I don't have them all listed here I have the wrong list on my pad um I did a couple of open houses um I did the uh opening of schools task force and the Ethics Committee I went to a couple of those and I attended the principal's meeting um oh one of the fun things too was the like we were talking earlier I did an interview with was it three or four students of that were students of Teresa shimawa online learning and they you know we sat down and had an interview and I have to say this I was so proud of myself I actually set up the zoom meeting I sent them a connection I wasn't on Zoom Google I think did it on Google so I had to figure it out how to do it and send them the Google link and we all got together and it was just it was really fun um sharp kids and then I did visit Lexington um the other day and uh saw the cohort that the hch teacher was beginning and and saw green grass in the center of that school which just such a rarity you know so it was um and that's about it you know a lot of online meetings Okay interviewing and okay so it's been an online World okay and I you it's it's nice to be able to get to a meeting in person rather than online even if we do have to wear these yeah so okay item 15 Advanced planning future meeting dates our next meeting will be Thursday May 6th and we have now may the Thursday June 10th meeting to June 24th yes May 6 you said 5th I think May 6th yeah 6 May what did I say I thought you said fifth no May 6th okay okay suggested items item 15.2 I I don't have a suggested item just um taking off from some of the comments that our parliamentarian read and that was about uh the school calendar uh I don't know if it's on the website yet for next year but if it's not uh be definitive about it's full school days it's back you know really lay it out so people can understand what to anticipate I know it's a number of months off uh and I always get hate to throw in the caveat but you know T things can change depending upon what's going on and in society but we were're all hoping that we can get back into nor normaly with uh the new year but I think it should be out on the website if it's not already out there and I I didn't look to see if it is okay um well as I said earlier I wanted to uh bring the school calendar up and and look into some of these things the cost of the electricity that since we've made the change and here and the idea of climate change and what we need to do in the future we're making changes now with solar energy and trying to take advantage of that so I'd like a little bit more information on you know this is something I want us to bring up uh anybody else okay seeing none do I have a I have a motion okay I have a motion in a second we adjourn let's just say all in favor I just have a question of our parliamentarian I can understand where we needed a roll call vote when we were a distance uh meeting but we never used to have a part a roll call vote for every single item but now we are is there a reason why we have to be um roll call vote for every item now that we're back uh face to face the reason we're continu that practice at this point is because we're still operating under the exective order that allows us to meet this is essentially a virtual meeting the okay all right thank you okay so as long as we're virtual for the public it's going to be by roll call thank you for the explanation okay okay so that means at 10:02 meeting is adjourned okay

2021-04-10 Monroe County, IL YouTube / KCHS transcript source: youtube Columbia Eagles vs. Freeburg Midgets Boys Varsity Football · passage 1
[Music] oh [Music] [Applause] [Music] so [Music] oh [Music] so [Music] another cahokia conference matchup here at the columbia multi-purpose field it's rivalry week it's a big week everybody circles a game on their schedule whether it's waterloo whether it's freeberg whether it's central and that goes for everybody everybody wants to circle that columbia match up freeberg's got it circled we've got freeburg circle this year alex schlemmer and jared germain with you once again jared we got the three and oh freeburg midgets in town facing off the two-in-one columbia eagles yeah looking for a good matchup here today alex freiburg coming in with a lot of a lot of firepower from last week coming off a big win of all marquette um but they come in with three and oh with a big big o line that's going to run the ball a lot so our defense is going to have to be ready for this one i agree with you on that one defense has always got to be ready we talked to coach germain tonight so we'll get to that a little bit later on but that field that you get in the locker room team just went back up to the locker room with about 20 minutes to go before game time here that feel in the locker room tonight something that you don't feel on every other night yeah definitely when you have freeberg on your schedule and especially in a year like this it's going to be a little different playing freeberg it's you only have six what six weeks in a year so it's going to be a lot different you're playing them earlier than you usually do in the season so it's definitely going to be a lot different for a lot of these players tonight i agree with you there and like you said just a different feel you got to come in tonight you got to be ready to go from the snap last week we had a little bit of a slow start but you got to be ready to go from the snap like i said they're going to go up they're going to get their last little bit ready to go come back down whenever we played back in the day i always remember you know my sophomore year we played at freeburg big alex fricke was the quarterback um you don't want to talk about injuries but it always seemed like something happened yeah so whenever we had that the free curse i think so we had that we had the freebird curse we play at freeburg we get the victory we come back here my junior year we got the lead we're going good everything's what we want we got a third long just like we want 13 13 to 7 and we bite on a hitch and go and they score a touchdown we lose my senior year coach warner says i don't care if we got to win this game three to two we won seven to six what are some of your memories of these games um i remember our one of our our first year actually doing the broadcast one of my favorite games i've ever watched probably was the playoff game that we did um in 2018 whenever columbia beat freiburg here at columbia um sam horner i know had a big game that game he had a big interception that i remember right here on our sideline and um so that's just that's a big moment that i remember that was one was it brandon mang or something like that back here in the back of the end zone had a chance to win it i believe and luckily uh he had that popcorn at halftime and went right on through his hands so look back at last week columbia wins over salem 37-18 and there's a lot to talk about in that game 430 yards we were just talking looking at last week's stats the big thing though republic times player of the week on sophomore dominic vaguely getting his first start and we got a lot of big big things to look forward to here in the future with him yeah definitely uh sophomore stepped up last week he was 14 for 19 for 170 yards and two touchdowns in the air and then he also rushed i think 13 to 14 times for a 120 yards three touchdowns and he only he also had a interception on the defensive side which we don't really talk about that much of him playing on the defensive side of the ball so it's nice to see your quarterback that can help your defensive side too and that's a big thing you know not too many times you see a quarterback playing safety anymore and that's something that we got and he's great at running the alleys and that's just the huge thing but like we were saying you know 430 yards offensively had a little bit of a slow start no problem to that you know down six nothing in coach germain he really didn't even give up that touchdown we we fumbled the ball at the five yard line maybe it was those sophomore jitters there but fumble the bar and the ball in the five yard line they scored touchdown we're down 6-0 going to halftime though and we're up 12-6 and then after that columbia didn't let off the breaks and uh we just got to the got to the end zone every time we wanted to it seemed like yeah had a great game yeah definitely in that second half too uh when we started running with that heavy offense you can see that coach horner got a little more comfortable getting the ball in the hands of london little and putting him in the backfield a little more which is very scary to teams i would say because whenever you have a guy like london little who can you can put him in the backfield and move him as a running back and wide receiver it's that's a lot scarier for defenses to see him in a lot of different positions we got this week with a couple players talking about last week and here's what they had to say about last week's games and now going into this week against freebird i've been trying to kick forever and kendall's never let me do it but uh he finally gave me the opportunity to last weekend i executed so hopefully he'll let me do it again maybe this week or senior night we'll see um you know we do have a big game coming up this week against freeburg it'll be a tough match up uh especially up front um we just got to get things done execute um and then east saltonwood river i'm feeling confident about that game and as well as all marquette so as long as we can get past this keep everybody healthy i think we should be fine it's got to be a game um just one up front because we got to be able to run between the guards and tackles we have to be able to do that we can't just rely on our speedsters to get outside every time i should just keep everybody healthy you know went out these next games we just got to execute that's about it [Music] yeah we're really able to synergize this year especially with the juniors and seniors so we're all able to click click really well and just perform as a real team it's all about figuring out what the other team's going to do and how we can move around it so watching film is definitely a great thing to do as well as just talk to your coaches about what's going on and just figure it out it's going to be a really tough game it's all going to be super aggressive we're all going to have to try really hard and we're also going to have to go all four quarters and we just it's going to be a bunch of smash mouth football yeah they're a real big fan of keeping the uh running back and making him run some rounds as well as the big o sniffer guy so he's going to go out run some rounds so all we have to do is just figure out what he's going to do and how to stop it it'd be a little easier so we'll go back real quick uh dominic vaguely republic times player of the week how do you come back into the game like this you know you got you go from a great week that you had last week you don't want to dwell on that too much anymore hey congratulations you got it now you got a big game this week in freeburg i think like a sophomore like don vagel you just got to put the helmet on strap it up again and show the fans that you can do it again i mean um he's he's shown this year that he he can play at the varsity level and he has the he definitely has the talent to keep keep playing at this this pace because i think don vageley is a great kid great player and doing great things for columbia football so now we talk about what london mentioned and what garrett poulter had mentioned london just says you know you got to get after it and uh i'm sorry schrader oliver yeah but you know you got to keep going got to keep everybody healthy london says that he can do whatever you want last week we got him 14 touches we talked about that that's huge to get a playmaker like that the ball that many times in as many ways as we can get london the football yeah most definitely and he also explained there that we have to be able to run the ball inside the two guards and the tackles because well as you've seen when whenever we get these guys out in space on a little mechanically malting they can do a lot of work so if we can run in inside a little bit i think we could be a little more effective to keep their defense on their toes a little bit and that could definitely be a problem i agree with you you know central we didn't really run the ball too well in between the tackles and that kind of showed i know we had a bad field condition that night but we never really got the line of scrimmage established and that's one thing if you ever talk to coach horner he's going to say you got to control the line of scrimmage and that's something we didn't do that week obviously we don't have to worry about field conditions this night tonight but you know everything's won in the trenches they say that whether it's the offensive side of the ball or the defensive side of the ball and you come against the freeberg offense this year they're rolling you're putting up 54 points in week one 52 points in week two and 35 points last week against uh i guess it was madison wood river and marquette respectively so this freeberg offense knows what they're doing and freeburg defense they gave up 12 points i think in week two none in week one and i think like 14 or something not too many i don't believe last week against marquette so this offense that we're facing with freeburg tonight they know what's going on they know how to move the football and columbia's just gonna have to step up and match the intensity if not set the intensity yeah coach tremaine is definitely gonna have to have his guys ready for tonight and as oliver schrader said earlier they're going to be in a lot of different formations the running back and sniffers backs are going to be running a lot of routes so linebackers and cornerbacks got to be ready for guys coming out of the backfield all the time and i just know that freeberg is just a run first team um just looking at their stats throughout the out the year their quarterback is 22 for 30 with five touchdowns which 30 attempts we've probably thrown that in one game before yeah so he's only thrown 30 attempts all year so but that's just that makes you remind uh the corners and safeties to just you got to stay awake and um if they haven't thrown the ball that much and he's only got one interception um and then the running back has 57 attempts for 457 yards and five touchdowns so they can definitely both run the ball so you gotta watch out for that and the receivers too i was looking we can look about it and talk about a little bit later they move the ball around so it's not like hey we're gonna key on you know for our instance they're gonna key on london a little we shut london down that's a good thing coach germain he's got two or three different guys he's got a shutdown he's got to worry about a running back running he's got to worry about a quarterback running so got to give this freebird offense a bunch of credit because credit's due freeberg currently sits in second place of the cahokia conference breeze central is in first place at 3-0 i believe all three of their games have been conference games freeberg has not played a conference game yet so they i guess we could say they're sitting in second place columbia two and one all three conference games so far the one loss coming to uh breeze central salem sitting at one and two in westland at oh and three and now you keep looking at the kaoki conference standings columbia needs a little help if we want to have a conference championship the way that i've got it figured out this isn't official columbia needs central to lose two freeberg and at least one more game to get at least a share freeberg wins out congratulations your conference champs central wins out congratulations your conference champs but columbia's in control of their own destiny really uh you got to win tonight got to get one game at a time um so that's you just got to go out and win one game at a time at this point yeah honestly uh i mean guys are going to go out there last game or last what is it the last uh kokia conference game of the year because our last two games are east altman river and alton marquette so i mean it's your last conference game of the year second last home game of the year so there should be a lot of fans showing up for this game because it's always a big rivalry game so should be a fun one to watch i keep looking over your shoulder here i can look down at the entrance and people are starting to come in uh in columbia fashion they're up on top of the hill already they had blankets out today and already um they're gonna use that blanket maybe as a poncho in the in the future hopefully not we're going to say that yeah we're going to hope or not but you look at colombia all time against freeburg freeburg dominated about the majority of it columbia is currently on a 10-game winning streak and is now the longest consecutive seasons played series at 46 games just behind dupo i believe for most all time started back in 1975 is when this started so columbia longest consecutive series 46 seasons like i said dupo is up there at 48.

thing um so anyway i'm not going to give you any more information than that anyway so glad that uh glad that's behind me so i can kind of start moving moving forward here and do do some great things with with you guys um we got a lot of things in the works like i've likely shared with the book uh and then you know i've shared too that you're probably gonna see my face more than maybe you care too because i've already started the uh a ton of interviews i probably did like 10 last week and then you know it's going to ramp up as we get into the book too so um anyway it's all thanks to you guys you've been so amazing and so supportive and so uh you've been good to both of us and to our family uh it's a sincere uh thank you you know i i can't even express it who knew you know like i just shared i the channel started a year ago and who knew right who knew it's just been uh quite the ride and you know i want to be faithful to you guys too and you know do stuff that's actually helpful to you um yeah so we'll keep putting out good content um you know as long as i have content to give uh so yeah so anyway thank you for so much for your support it means a lot to me and i do try to read the comments as as much as i can to stay in tune with all of you um yeah so yeah i don't know i'm spending probably too much time on that i just you know i it does mean a lot to me and i hope um you understand how much how much you all mean to me yeah no we appreciate all of your support through all of this i mean the fact that you were even able to write a book is something that you probably never thought would happen in your lifetime yeah oh yeah no it's amazing i mean i you know as i've gotten older and i'm sure a lot of people as they get older you learn stuff you learn how to do things and it's like man i wish i knew how to do that when i was younger and to actually get it to get to be able to put it in book form uh is it's pretty amazing you know i i'm humbled by it and honored by it and so uh yeah and it's because of you guys uh and your support and your encouragement and telling your friends and and that has made this thing blow up and uh um i'm grateful yeah yeah um so i want to dive right in yeah sure before we get going and chatting about what's in the book we wanted to let you all know that we're giving away 10 copies of the dad how do i book practical dad advice for everyday tasks and successful living and that's coming out when's it coming out may 18th may 18th that if you comment book launch in the chat you'll be entered to win one of 10 copies that we're giving away tonight yeah right yep and so these are called you know i'm learning all this i've never written a book before but these are called galley copies and so they're kind of unique they're going to be you know uh something you can't get very you know can't get them in the store because they're they're um uncorrected proofs and so you know the books changed a little bit in uh book book launch nice uh so yeah anyway so that we kind of rearranged the the how to's in the back are we gonna we're gonna talk about what's in the book oh absolutely okay i just wanna make sure the giveaway was there and book launch book launch there you go i see book watch on some of them so book launch nice yeah anyway do you want to go and share what's in the book what can we expect yeah yep so um so at the be so the beginning of the book and i think i shared a little bit of this in a video before the beginning of the book um i go into a little bit of my past of my childhood and uh some of the struggles that i had because a lot of you probably heard my my some of my story at least and you know i'm one of eight kids i'm number seven and i learned a lot from my my older siblings uh from all my siblings and um when i was 50 i so i i'm 56 now i'll be 57 in may uh at my 50th birthday i honored my siblings because they all stepped up when our family fell apart um and on my 50th birthday i went around and said you know mary uh this is what um the one character trait that i love about you and then i um yeah and then i kind of told a story about one of the things that she always did mary would always was always good about trying to keep our family together about you know writing uh letters and so that's what the first chapter is and then i kind of walk you through um yeah some different character traits that i learned from from my siblings and they're solid character traits that i would hope to to pass along to you so that's what the first part of the book is about and i i think i shared when i did my audio book um you know it this is some of this stuff is brings back some pretty tough memories and so i actually cried a couple times when i was reading my when i was doing the audio version because you know it's pretty personal um but i honestly think it's a pretty good book right i mean i uh we put a lot of time and effort into this and so that's why you know um i haven't done so many videos the past six months because i wanted to do this right you know we wanted to make sure that uh we yeah that i put in my effort my brother rick um who who i went and lived with um when when our family uh fell apart he helped me a ton him and his wife karen both you know they helped me when i was 14 and even helped me with this book too kind of rewriting things and making sure because i wanted to you know highlight quality traits without getting into the weeds on some other stuff you know when that you know uh really point out the some quality traits that i hope that uh would be powerful for you and then yeah and then in the second half uh we promised you 50 how-to's um and i actually ended up doing 58 to so there's a bonus section at the end because i i thought you know um in my life i think it's always important to uh under promise and over perform uh because if you know if you you set expectations for people and then they ah and then they get let down right so i think it's important so i wanted to have the 50 you know so we got the 50 for you and then there's eight bonus ones that way you can't go dad that one was kind of kind of lame i don't know about that you included that a lot of them were really helpful well there's also taxes you pray how to do those i saw those in there and i know that i've been getting a lot of questions about them yeah yeah taxes you know um and maybe we can just chat about that really quick you know if you uh honestly turbo attacks or um not sponsored not sponsored by them but you know they do kind of walk you through it it's fairly easy uh you just get prepared and have your w-2 and have you know especially if you're you know if you have your own business and stuff you probably could afford an accountant to to do it for you but if you're you know your if your taxes are fairly simple and you know you make under a certain amount i think it's it's even free too isn't it i mean yeah so i would just do that you know back you know i'm ancient so when i was younger and had to do my taxes you would you have and they probably even still have this i don't even know but they have a you know a pamphlet that they make and then you uh sorry i just got distracted by the dead joke i like telling dad jokes sometimes he laughs i was saving that one now you took it and happy birthday oh mr oh mr bo daniel said happy birthday so whose birthday is it luis happy birthday luis sorry i'm so caught up in what i'm saying here i kind of oh good but yes they have a little thing yeah yeah they used to have a pamphlet and you'd have to flip through it and try to oh what are my taxes and all that but now it's they interview you and it's just okay you feel like your name felt this and then at the end they run an audit on it and it just you know it's it's kind of nice so it's hard it's hard to say you know and i remember when it first came out we used to get it on a a disc and you'd load it but now it's all online and it's um so back to the first portion of the book i'm just i was like i don't have a good question um so you are going to read a portion of it but before we jump into that can i just share because i know i'm biased but i did get a chance to read and i think seeing my aunts and uncles like all because for me i look up to all of them they're all just incredible people and when i think of my family and i think of again my aunts and uncles i think of grit um people with grit but also with a lot of joy like it's not like i just feel like everyone embraces life so well and so dearly so when i was reading through the book i'm like getting teary so i was reading the book i could really see all of them really come through and come to life which was really it's really meaningful i think for me and i know i'm your daughter somebody but hey these are all your internet kids so maybe they're all biased too but it came out of the book feeling a little braver i think that was the thing i took away was even though i'm not necessarily in like a transition of life which i think if you're a college student and you need how-to's help but you also need like a pep talk it's excellent but because i when i read through it i got teary throughout it like picturing all my aunts uncles and picturing you and again it's such a gift as a reader to be able to have kind of someone rooting for you um i think even like as an author i guess that's my dad but from an author's standpoint there are definitely words in there that i'll cherish um so if you would like to read yeah or if you want to say anything yeah well i mean you're getting making me teary eyed now so uh um yeah i i i honestly hope that you know um you get a chance to read it because it's you know i think there's some pretty cool stuff and my siblings are pretty amazing you know and so i think also you know i i try to in my videos i try to make stuff that you can actually um remember and i think if you you know i think there's things that i've always thought that like if i can tie it to something and so if you think of my my sister mary you'll think of hey you know i need to i need to mail that card to that person that i'm thinking about um or if you think of my brother tim that you'll um you know it'll bring to mind what his chapter is about and so on and one thing um we were talking about my brother joe joe's always been one to you know not hesitate and go ahead and just do it you know he's kind of takes in the information and then he does it and i think there's times where you know we can have analysis by paralysis or paralysis by analysis or however that saying goes uh but it is true that you can you know sit there and overthink it and man just move okay you have all the information you need you need to move now you know and so i think uh anyway i think and so you can kind of tie it to my my siblings and then maybe remind yourself of what those quality traits are so i think um yeah i think it'll be good that way and then i like i said the how to so i think the how to there's a lot of nuggets i think you'll find in there i got i do a lot of finances and uh you know back in the day i didn't understand mutual funds and i'd hear a little bit about it and my friend conrad you know we all kind of learned things you know piecemeal and then so i was able to grab all this stuff and put it down for you how to invest in mutual funds and what that looks like you know back in the day i used to listen to this show on the radio and then he said oh you need to go to the library and you need to check out morningstar then i couldn't actually check it out you actually have to sit in the library and thumb through all this big binder to try to walk through it to try to figure it out and uh yeah and now i walk you through it's pretty easy now so you really don't have much of an excuse in order to help you uh yeah learn how to how to build wealth over time you know it's it's not a quick rich or get rich quick scheme it's a over time you know if you just make smart decisions over time and i do kind of challenge you too uh in the book i think there's some challenging stuff that you might go ah i can't do that well uh you know i would just challenge you to to push yourself to set aside a little bit set aside a little bit set aside a little bit and then pretty soon and it and it kind of snowballs because you're you see it grow and then it's like you want to you want to see it grow even more so anyway nice yeah cool um i saw some comments for if you want to pre-order the book because it comes out may 18th there's links in the description so you can click on those there's a pre-signed copy right pre-signed pre-sale but signed copies yeah they're selling through queen am bookstore because we want to encourage yeah right they're local and they've been good to us and so we wanted to wanted to promote them um yeah and that was a whole nother thing i didn't see myself doing you know signing uh yeah sending a whole bunch of copies yes so those links are all in the bio yep um yeah oh you wanted me to read what did you what apartment did you want me to read kind of yeah i'm 24.

she's been a staunch advocate for high quality early care and education programs including the need to develop and support a high quality early childhood work workforce as a member of the aap and with her extensive experience with working with young children with various needs including infants and those in preschools and other group child care centers dr uehar would continue to be an asset as a member to the early learning board thank you thank you members and because dr is a practicing pediatrician she was not able to be with us today but it's not because she has is not interested so i just wanted to thank her for her service and members ask if you have any questions of either bob peters or lauren moriguchi if not we'll move on to the next item on the agenda which is gm797 submitting for consideration and confirmation to the early learning board gubernatorial nominee aaron henderson lacerdo for a term to expire 6 30 20 25 to testify and support robert peters please thank you church kodomi um the early learning board is in support of the confirmation of aaron henderson macerdo although we i do not know her personally she brings a background to home visiting professional development specialist to this conversation and she was the unanimous choice of the home visiting program network to assume this particular seat on the board as i reviewed some of the testimony and support of her it convinced me even more that she will represent that sector particularly well thank you so much thank you also to testify lauren moriguchi please thank you chair vice chair and members of the committee eol supports the nomination of aaron henderson lucerto to the early learning board as a representative of the home visiting program providers i understand that she's currently a statewide program director of the hit lay pico home visiting at kiki okana and has also worked in the early childhood field for 12 years with her extensive experience administering home visiting programs we believe mrs henderson laceredo will be an asset as a member to the early learning board thank you thank you lauren also to testify department of health good afternoon chair my name is matthew shim i'm chief of the family health services division our department stands on this testimony and support thank you very much thank you is aaron with us today erin would you like to make an opening statement hi aloha my name is erin henderson lucerto i'm really looking forward and very honored to be considered as a representative of the home visiting service providers for the early learning board of the executive office of early learning mahalo for consideration i'm very very passionate about home visiting and i truly believe that home visiting is a way to access services for families in our communities especially communities that are hard to reach and families who are who may have some challenges in accessing other early learning opportunities um that we can go right to them and so i really do hope that i will be able to be continued um as the nominee for the for the representative of home visiting thank you aaron and thank you for your detailed responses to my uh the questionnaire that we did send you can you tell me what goals do you have for the executive office on early learning one of the goals that i have is to really advocate for and to represent home visiting field in early childhood it is often that when we think of early childhood we tend to think of center-based programs and so it is going to be my duty really to provide a larger lens to to represent a little bit more home visiting program services delivery across the state and i really do hope that we can increase the amount of home visiting services that are provided across the state especially in communities that are hard to reach thank you aaron and what resources do you believe the eoel needs to accomplish its mission i think it's a little challenging for me to say what specific resources might be needed because i have not been i don't have enough knowledge i think at this point in terms of the things that have been the discussions that have been held regarding this but i do believe that no matter what we do have to have a field that encourages collaboration across sectors that has a that we have sustainability and programs and that we also are a comprehensive network of providers for children and families and so i do believe that we will need um to continue to work together and the eoel is an is an example of how we can have public and partner public and private partnerships in place that can collaborate to greater serve the community thank you for that erin members any questions of our nominee if not thank you very much aaron and moving on to the final agenda item gm794 submitting for consideration and confirmation to the board of education gubernatorial nominee william arakaki for term to expire 6 30 we have about 28 testimony and support and three in opposition but none are oral so this is all written testimony only not no one speaking today is bill arakaki there he is thank you bill would you like to make an opening statement yes senator kenani and vice chair kim and others on the committee uh thank you for this opportunity uh to serve again to the many stakeholders in education it is a great opportunity to give back again as a public servant and being in the department of education over 40 years it's been a privilege to be with many great leaders and inspirational partners that have really made education a great opportunity for our students and families thank you so much thank you bill and i was asked to read the testimony of mayor derek kawakami honourable chair pidani vice chair kim and honorable members i am honored to testify in strong support of william arakaki's appointment to the state of hawaii board of education his institutional knowledge collaborative skills and willingness to serve others will strengthen the board's role in directing the education our state's youth mr arakaki has been a lifelong mentor as my high school football coach he taught us about teamwork integrity dependability and leadership as our former kauai complex area superintendent he brings a unique view and perspective on what is needed to strengthen our existing public school system and as a lifelong educator he understands the need to transition our system into the 21st century to give our students a competitive edge mr arakaki spent the first 10 years of his educational career as a teacher on oahu as a lifelong learner he realized how much better life was on our wonderful island of kauai and transitioned to teaching here shortly after that mr arakaki developed his credentials in administration and began his tenure in educational leadership administering at the elementary middle and high school levels as well as his experience as a motivational and alternative learning teacher provided the solid foundation for mr arakaki's role as the kawaii complex area superintendent during this time he directed our schools and community with his ability to consider all aspects of a situation he listened to the suggestions and complaints of all parents and did his best to provide the best academic path for each child lately our north shore community has been hit with several natural disasters mr arakaki always worked with our emergency management team to make sure our keiki from hanalei elementary school were safely united with their parents during flood days after our 2018 april floods many of those same students were cut off from their school due to landslides mr arakaki thought out of the box and a temporary satellite school and in waimea served those students and even some from the middle and high school since his retirement mr arakaki has continued to serve our community volunteering with food distribution during the pandemic and as a volunteer with our agency on elderly affairs he is truly someone who cares about others i ask this honorable committee to advise and consent to mr arakaki's nomination and forward to the full senate for consideration mahalo for the opportunity to present this testimony okay um congratulations on being nominated bill and thank you for uh responding to the the questions that we forwarded over to you actually now i'm looking for my questions sorry how do you as a board member plan on upholding your constitutional mandate to formulate statewide educational policy um yes first senator and everyone want to do the connections uh as you may know everyone has a you know he's involved in education so students parents teachers support staff administrators business and community partners and all others that are impacted by the board event policies i need the trust and relationships so basically to be able to hear what each segment is talking about what their needs are how we're going to get there and how we're going to do it together is by building those relationships we have been here to see and to really understand what we're doing how will do that basically is to go visit to be at activities uh to have focus groups and there's many things that uh the department has been doing to be able to get input and hearing kind of things so once i'm able to do that then from there i would need to really research and find out how we're doing as far as the system to really make those efforts in any kind of policies that will impact to really impact the whole state of hawaii as far as education thank you for that bill how would you then as a board member the board of education be able to gather the information necessary to determine whether our students are achieving academically and are college and career ready as you may know all of you at the daily website each i deal with award there's a lot of information there's a lot of data that's out there so so basically you know through the um the policy or the hrs that says that the doa needs to provide that information so how i would work right is look at what we have today right now they really understand if people out there you know the ones that are impacted you know many are educated many are may know what you know all those data means but there are others that are grassroots that need to really understand what is happening what within the system so um you know i've been fortunate with mr hamada and many others worked with the harvard graduate education where in order to make change there are many things we need to look at so using that data really needs to help us uh context like for example the pandemic on you know with uh kovit 19 that is something that we cannot control with something happen so you know with the context similar to education and the policies we need to make you know what are some of the things that are impacting that things that we can really affect and make change would be culture competencies and conditions so as we look at what people are saying what's happening out there uh we can look at the culture a lot of people feeling insane and how do we make it so that we can uh really attune to what is needed to be done competencies comes with training staff develop professional development communication that goes out there and conditions of course would be determining policies uh if there's funding different kind of other resources that need to be considered the conditions to change so that we can make the policy work it happen for for the the system is something that we need to consider so those are you know some of the experiences that maybe would be able to assist me in making that important supports to the people that the things that need to be done within education thank you for that bill as you know we we are searching for a new superintendent that would hopefully be able to start um come august first what qualities and traits do you believe the next superintendent needs for our kick for our keiki to grow and thrive in our educational system uh that is that is truly uh to search and the qualifications you know many people out there have many ideas of what that should be you know again when i speak about trusting relationship being able to connect with people being able to communicate with the manufacturer factions and constituents within the state of hawaii most definitely we need to have a superintendent that truly has the heart and understands what people need and what education is all about and definitely a person that understands instructional teaching research and data regarding what is working out there and also the ability to collaborate and work with many others the examples that um you know for me on hawaii coming from oahu and this is you know we have these uh examples on oahu and big island and maui and hawaii and you know i've been very fortunate with the team we have here where we collaborate you know with senate uh president kochi the four representatives the mayor the county council the businesses and so on and and the parents and many others where we're able to really work together and be a team and be united now we may have disagreement there will be times in which you know we may not agree that we need to really get to a point on how we need to get to our goals and how we're going to get there together for the benefit of our students so a superintendent especially for the state of voice of the toughest job and to be able to really master and collaborate especially for hawaii and all of you know coming from hawaii we are a melting pot of many nationalities and races so you know with the whole theme apa you have a sense of belonging you know there's five areas in there and i can't really remember what it is you know how do we make sure that you know we really represent what's happening in the state of hawaii aloha and what goes on so to have someone that may come from a different state or elsewhere or even from here you know these are things that within our community and state of hawaii there are many values that we need to continue and be cognizant of as we make decisions that are really really important for everyone that are here in the state thank you for that bill and i i you know i want to say you know the communication piece is so critical i think and with your background and knowing uh principles and other cases etc and i hope that should you be confirmed that you will um you know reach out and touch bases with with the uh the department of education community and you know when you have uh issues that you would like more input on and uh and not just uh wait for the meetings to see who comes out to testify because i think that's one of the things that our board our current board could be much better at so thank you members are there any questions of our nominee yeah senator kim thank you mr cocky i appreciate your willingness to serve i have to be honest with you i'm a little bit troubled by the testimonies received in opposition to your nomination and i've been reviewing them you start off in your questions to say that i intend to build connections with students parents teachers and supportive staff and so forth building trust and relationships but when i'm reading these testimonies it doesn't seem like you have that relationship or have that relationship um and listening so can you address that um within my position as a complex superintendent and i'm not too sure what you know the testimony is referring to as far as not me not being able to communicate or to listen i'm sure there are different decisions or certain decisions that may have not been um well you know liked by others that that may not have agreed with what my decision were um but you know for me you know i really tried to uh hear from different sides and at a certain point uh they really need this need to make a decision regarding that so maybe that's the case if if there was a situation i'm not sure you know who disagrees with me i can't remember or what that testimony is about and they may not be happy about it but i truly try to work with everyone to be able to make the best decision again within my opposition okay i know that a couple of them was about the music room and i can see where that would be in disagreement but there are others that said under his leadership as kaz on kauai about a decade until 2019 myankawa experienced dysfunctional principles poor morale among doe teachers and staff and general stagnation um i acknowledge mr hockey as years of experience as dua administrators as a kind man but i do not see it in his skill set to run such a large organization such as the boe and then there's another one from a teacher who talked about a situation um of you putting in a mr nathan iwohi um returned to kapa'a because the staff received letters i mean it's a poor decision by mr arakaki it's smacked of cronyism clearly not good for education decisions and then another one from i guess this person is a teacher when i was a teacher at kapaa middle school he had a chaotic and ineffective management style that left our school of free for all for disciplinary problems and made doing my job as a teacher very difficult um another one about uh the daughter being bullied and assaulted while on campus at kapahe high school during her ninth grade at no time did mr arakaki offer me any solutions for her situation he was disengaged and indifferent to my concerns which was surprising and disappointing to me never once did he address the issue of my daughter being bullied or assaulted uh another one our concerns rise from experience of mr akaki's lack of solution generating conflict resolution in particular he did not address or resolve the poor school climate at waimea canyon middle school after being approached by staff and parents canon middle school staff morale remains low student education experiences are less than optimal parents dissatisfaction remains high another one when issues and mismanagement occurred in the kauai complex area mr akaki avoided concerns complaints were unaddressed concerns were deflected so how do you address some of those it's not just the decisions you made it seems like an overall concern by teachers and parents well let me make a statement as far as employees you know um as the conflicts are superintendent and especially with administrators you know um and again a lot of that information is confidential so as far as what my decisions are made is on what is the best interest for the person that is in that position and also what is for the best interest of the students and families that are impacted by that school so again you know there are there are many or some that you know at a particular school may not have agreed with uh that that admission that was there and wanted that person not to be there and again for me hawaii being so small you know how do i make sure that it's not nothing against the person's ability and so on bb it's a leadership style and so on uh it's not about you know defamation or character or anything like that so for me you know making sure that the person is able to really support the school and do what needs to be done especially when covey came in um you know that ability to be able to run this school at that time and you know those kind of things so basically you know my decision that many may not have agreed regarding a certain school we really worked at it and even with uh chris kapamiro and kapa uh waimea canyon school was mentioned and even with miami academy school we did have public meetings and met with the hsta union reps and others the same thing with kapaa middle school to be really you know get the information out and to really try to resolve the issue and really place people as needed so you know my decisions are made and you know i stand by it you know as far as what needs to be done now as far as um bullying and you know with students that are you know in chapter 19 if something happens to them you know i am an avid supporter of not having bullying you know part of the residence committee on kauai to really address that matter bully free kawaii has been something we've been doing for the past over six years so you know as a young administrator you know that may have happened as far as you know people may have a perception but as uh going into the system and trying to really resolve it to the grassroots of what is causing that which may be to social media and really trying to connect with the parents uh we you know as far as uh what we tried to do with this past six years was to really try and improve that so uh you know we continue to have those issues and things and my goal has always been to try and make sure that we can avoid what had happened earlier people may have been impacted or have been bullied and you know um early in the years and to really prevent that and make it better for everyone okay i certainly understand that not everybody's going to agree with you and we experience that all the time i think i'm looking at it more on a general situation because you do talk about you know communication you talk about connecting you talk about listening and it just seems that in the the um uh recurring theme and a lot of these testimonies that we receive um that they didn't feel that they had that kind of communication with you that you were listening and even if they didn't agree that you didn't provide alternatives or suggestions that the morale was low so it's not necessarily just specific decisions but just an overall i guess attitude and overall willingness so if that's the case just in on kauai and some of these schools i mean on a larger scale on the board of education those kinds of concerns are going to be even greater so how are you going to deal with those well you know i just have to prove myself as far as being you know what i say as far as trying to listen uh being able to communicate and connect with others you would have to you know by my actions and if it continues to be something that becomes a problem then you know and there is complaints regarding that regarding my decisions and you know how i may not be communicating to others or connecting to others uh then you know um is something that's uh you know that is there then i need to you know for me i want to improve upon those things i've been working on those things and um you know we need to see you know what what goes on when we do get into a situation with when you go out there okay let me ask you a hypothetical situation it's something that actually happened but um a report or reports were asked of the board of ed and uh or the superintendent and the board of education did not and the chair did not uh go after getting these reports and those reports i believe uh senator kendall if you can refresh my memory was like a year old or something i forgot what it was um but the board made no effort to to get them to respond and get them to respond timely so if you're on the board and that happened what would you do as a board member if the chair is not requiring it and um you know these reports were late and were never turned in yes so you know um again if the information reports of can be it's public information that can be provided you know and we can get response to it i would work with the chair and uh whoever i need to on the board to make ensure that even though it's late that we get some kind of response and that report given to the necessary people that were asking for it that's interesting because you know um you know as a cas and even as principals we do have letters that go to the board regarding there's a report or complaint that we need to fill out and sometimes it takes really quick to be an asset sometimes it doesn't but the main thing is to make sure that we respond to it as best as we can and as as quickly as we can so so my my response to that is if you know as a board member if that hasn't been completed you know how would i be able to get that information and provide it to the chair and help support so that can close that case or get some kind of resolution to it so if the superintendent did not turn in the report and the report is months late and you have a board meeting what would you do what would you do to to get that report because we complained it to the board and nothing was done they kept asking for it and they kept letting it go would you put on any kind of sanctions would you would you put any kind of disciplinary action is that's what i'm looking for what would you do um well again and again i'm not sure what the extent of the board members as far as disciplinary action that can be done because i know in selection and there is a evaluation process the board does so during the evaluation process if the accountability is not happening then at that point you know are we i know i think it's about renewing the superintendent's contract whether to do that or not due to something that is really vital in what needs to be done as the superintendent as a board member if there is a serious case enough to to recommend not renew that that was something that needs to be done as far as other sanctions i don't know what um that would be but just by looking at you know when i see board meetings and things as a former daily member is about the renewal or extension of the contract for the superintendent okay but sometimes the renewal of the superintendent contract is not is years away and so here we have a report that is requested needed in order to affect programs let's say for example and it's not being the superintendent is not complying what was requested and so will you be one of those that will speak up even though the chair you might have to go against the chair or will you be a you will you be a voice to make sure that these things get get done um yeah you know uh being the representative here for what's out there i will put in reminders to wherever i need to that you know the super does not be completed we need to get it done and so on but now i we need to look further into it as far as what the uh stipulation is how far can we push the issue um regarding that but you know definitely at the meetings if it's not completed as a reminder i call it reminders i don't know for a better word as far as you believe this is coming up you know we need to make sure it's late or so on so that we can move forward okay what happens if it's like you know after five reminders and it still doesn't get there then what well then after five reminders i'm not sure if we as the board can make stipulations okay uh we're gonna get some you know i don't know what the penalties will be but if that is something that the board is able to do then that is something we need to look into okay thank you i think uh when senator kim asked me that question not one specific report came to mind because there has been several and the last one i think was the finance and infrastructure committee asking for budgetary information on the funding that was coming from the federal government as to how it was going to be used etc and that the information did not come down and then there's the i don't know the 2019 promise plan that still hasn't been finalized etc so i think what uh senator kim is alluding to is that there has not been probably enough sanctions on the superintendent but what it comes down to basically is evaluation of her performance and uh so uh in this case um the superintendent has you know said she's not gonna ask for another term but um there were some um i guess uh some of the the board members that you know feel that she did not perform well and uh this is a situation that we're in and looking for a new superintendent so thank you for those questions senator and unfortunately there is no um no process to remove uh you know governor's appointment or governor's nominee once we have them in until their their term is up basically and i don't know if that's you know something that um we have ever discussed but um i appreciate your um candidness bill and like i said um there there were 28 letters and testimony and support and there were three in opposition but i believe that there were also some emails that were sent that were in in opposition and they seem to have been related to uh certain times of your tenure at as a principal too but but members any further questions if not thank you bill thank you okay members um i'm ready for decision making on the four items on the agenda are there any questions before we move forward for hcr 6 8 recommendation of the chair is to where's my sheet there's two i don't have a sheet okay to pass as is um columbia owns the record now 25 and 21 and like we said on a 10-game winning streak so we were down 21 uh what fifteen to twenty-one yeah last year we won 42 to nothing and like we said in a rivalry game you never know what's gonna happen you can win that game 42 to nothing or we can win a game like i had said earlier win it seven to six you never know what's going to happen you got to go out set the tone match the intensity and coach horner all time 16 and four seven and three at home and i don't know when his four losses were i don't know if we can try to think through that real quick it doesn't matter but you know it's just interesting my varsity career i never lost a freebird i know that i know my junior year was a loss and i think that was the only one so had to be back before then we are just under seven minutes now till kickoff what do you got for your pre predictions tonight um i'm gonna go uh 34-20 i think uh columbia is going to come out i think vaguely he's going to be able to have a good game throw it around a little bit get the ball in london's hands um i think freebird is going to run the ball pretty well but i think uh coach chermaine's defense is going to be ready for uh for the run game i'm going to go 28-21 i think we might give up a couple points here but i think we're still going to score we still got some good athletes out on the field and you mentioned coach jermaine and his work cut out for him we went down with coach germain before warm-ups tonight and we had an interview with him and here's what he had to say about tonight's game coach jermaine the defensive coordinator for the eagles tonight coach germain you've always had that bendo break mentality for all the years i can remember what are your successors you think the only given up about two touchdowns a game this year and doing that all of your career we try to put our the players in the best possible position to make plays you know the offense is always revolving uh defenses that we've had to catch up with with the offenses over the years so putting the kids in the right spots giving the best the best chance the ability to make plays throughout the course of the game is all we can ask of our kids and we try that's what we try to do to them so you mentioned the kids putting them in their best spot but you down on the field you don't get the good angle as you would say somebody up top you got coach stump up there you've been around the game as long as he's probably been alive so he's got to put you in the right spot in the right mindset as well yeah coach stump you obviously he played for us years ago and uh you know coach stump has come a long way as a football coach on the defensive side of the ball that you know that's his job at the underclass level and he utilizes or he uses the same you know schemes that we do throughout the course of the week on our opponents coach stump does a great job of game planning watching film he always has his guys ready to go and it's all it's very nice to have an extra set of eyes you know he gives me formations and uh you know people that are coming in out of the game for the opponent and you know puts our players in the right spot to give give ourselves the advantage so tonight we come against a big freeberg team here uh they've put up 47 points a game 54 52 50 or 35 respectively so you got your work cut out for you tonight and that ben don't break mentality what's the key to slowing this freeberg offense down well like i like i said last week against salem uh you know it's going to come down to our down seven people you know their offensive line is is you know seasoned they've got a lot of kids coming back from last year's team that's going to boil down to our kids up front making plays their quarterback and their and their running back are probably the two best combo that we've seen all year long so it's going to come down to our defensive ends we have to play assignment football everybody's got their gap they're responsible for um and our secondary doesn't need to be making plays 10 12 yards down the field realize it all boils down to our inside guys taking care of their assignments perfect good deal coach appreciate it good luck tonight thank you very much alex i don't know about you jared hell's bells comes on you see that the boys coming down the cow bell is going off chills you get a little chills there so what coach germaine was saying you know the guy's had a ben don't break mentality forever that's all i can ever remember he threw a bunch of shutouts last year he's throwing shutouts again this year tonight we talked to him he and he mentioned in the interview got to play your front seven again we talked about it last week front seven have got to play good and there's no exception to that this week with the running game that the best they could ever have seen this year for sure yeah definitely coach germain is going to have these guys ready on first down like he said he's gonna have to try to stop him not let him get yardage on first down to try to make him throw the ball um if you can like he said in the third coach's key there he said needs to get them into passing situations if he can hold him to some yardage and um make him pass the ball around because we haven't seen it that much this season then i think i think we'll be all right well that does it for the pregame show ladies and gentlemen we're about three and a half minutes away from the start of the game we're gonna send it to a break we'll be back with the national anthem [Music] [Applause] straight oh hey j-rod it's eagle football time yeah it is we we talk about this every week chris urski has a heck of a band you know we go to other places and they got a little band that does well but don't get me wrong but columbia he's got it on every week weekend weekend almost like every week it sounds the exact same and it well maybe it sounds better every week i don't know but i remember being a little kid being a water boy down there and i i loved just it was so much louder down there on the field because you're you're right there even if you scored a touchdown in that end zone that band would just be going crazy so um props to craig turski and um great job for having his band ready for all the home games columbia i'm sorry freeberg won the toss elected to defer so columbia will be kicking off coming out tonight in a new con combination here with the uniforms blue bottoms black tops coming out for the first time this year with the white outlining of the numbers in blue and the white hats a little bit different look then we're not not used to seeing though i like it freeberg's gonna come out white trousers white or no i'm sorry blue trousers white top and a gray matte helmet with a metallic f on it look pretty sharp down there at the field [Music] adam willmeyer on the kick he is leading the conference and kicks yards and he sends it deep and it will be recovered on the three yard line and it will be a reverse to the right side over to freeburg sideline where columbia is not going to be fooled and they're going to sling him down and it might have been a fumble on the play jared and it is call me football columbia football columbia football he went to make the tackle i can't see who came out with it meant to make the tackle and ripped it out well what a start for the eagles can't ask for a better start hey we talked about you got to match the intensity you got to set the tone i don't want to match it i want to set it setting the tone is nice and you did we get a new uh little uh down marker over there we did the light up one yeah there's no missing this one and a little led screen i believe that was brought to you by the columbia quarterback club so the republic times player of the week from last week dominic bailey comes out with the offense trips to the right side he's going to send london to motion it's going to be a fake he's going to run up the middle he's going to juke he's going to make a couple men miss he's going to gain about six yards good positive yardage and he made a little little move there for the eagles offense and that's something we're probably going to see a lot again this week don begley just using london little and mcconaughey to get the defense moving in one motion sending those guys in motion and then having dominic vaguely pull the ball or give the ball off but he did a great job there of reading it and pulling the ball and getting a couple yards it's going to be the same formation trips to the right side doubles to the left empty backfield going to be a bubble it's going to be caught by number two 2 train he's got the right side and he's going to be just short great stalk block there by london little really made that play get somewhere looks like a personal foul on freebird gonna be uh we were already about what one or two one or two yard lines so it's half the distance to the goal we're probably gonna have the ball in the half yard line i would imagine result of the play is a first down already so it'll be first and goal for the eagles what a great start for the eagles offense and on the two so be first and goal from the two mcconicki will join vaguely in the backfield as running back eagles are going to set up in a doubles formation freeberg's got four down linemen two linebackers gonna take the snap gonna hand it off fake it to mcconaughey not gonna get anything is number 72 is in the backfield right away for about a loss of a yard yard and a half for the eagles good read there again but i think vaguely just has a nose for the football when he's inside the 10 or 5 yard line i think whenever he has the option to hand the ball off he can run it himself and he does a great job of putting his head down and trying to get the ball to that end zone on the tackle there gabe woodhams from freeburg in the backfield a lot two tackles for a loss with his seven total tackles gonna be doubles formation gonna be a quick now we're out to the outside to two train he's gotta make one man miss and he can't he's gonna gain about a yard or two brings up a third down and goal from about the two yard line brings up third down and three haven't seen too much from two training yet this year he's two three catches all year he's already got two catches here in the in the first drive for the eagles sniffer back to the right side columbia goes with the hard count a bunch of people think that we got him to jump but they say no so it's going to be doubles to the right side pistol running back with a sniffer back to the right side under 10 seconds to go on the play clock they're going to turn around hand the ball off to mcconaughey he's going to get to the line of scrimmage he's going to keep fighting he's going to get close to the end zone they're going to mark them short penalty flag on the play thrown in the backfield london's holding on to his face mask if it is a face mask it'll be another half the distance to the goal personal foul face mask on the midgets first and goal eagles and i could hear coach kendall down there already going heavy so bringing the heavy set in here try to punch a early early running automatic first first quarter touchdown for the eagles if we can punch one in here so first down in ten or first down and one for the eagles now the officials are coming together and talk looks like number 62 for the eagles coming off the field as coaches were still screaming heavy 63 on the play rather for the eagles coming off i believe that's matheny it is grant matheny coming off he's a big kid he's not in heavy that's kind of surprising so the officials getting together third down it's gonna stay at third down i don't get how that stays at third down how come that's not a half a distance but coach horner seems to agree with the call so dominic vaguely under center mcconaughey in the backfield two fullbacks they're gonna turn around hand the ball off and he's gonna go in untouched for columbia eagles touchdown two minutes and 15 seconds into this game can't ask for a better start you know coach horner is going to be real happy with that start and coach kendall even with that kickoff return uh fumble recovery there so a great start for the eagles uh start this rivalry game with a touchdown score in the first two minutes set the tone early we like doing that get after it keep the pedal to the metal as a lot of people would say mcconaughey on for the second touchdown of the season four games into it saigon for the hold whiber to kick good snap good hold kick is up and it's right down broadway and almost had it back there he's back in the track the ball actually went out of the stadium [Music] so we were wanting to go to the coaches three predictions or the three predictions of the game for jared's three keys we didn't have time to do that so jared your three keys to the game tonight so my three keys of the game tonight were to be physical because i know freeburg always coming in well yeah i think we only had two this week two this week yeah uh so one of them is be physical i know this freeberg freebird columbia matchup is always a physical one um so you gotta always be ready to hit and because if you're uh not gonna if you're not gonna hit you're gonna be hit is that how they say it alex yeah be the hitter not to hit e yeah and then also the other one is just keep them keep the pedal down last week we had a a good second half of that game against salem um so if we can keep this train rolling like we are already tonight in the first two minutes and 15 seconds into this game um i think we'll be all right let's do the same thing over again another fumble recovery how about an onside kick like last week yeah would be on the kick he's going to kick it in the same spot and this time hero he's like i'm not reaching this one freeberg's letting it go a little extra curricular going on about the 35-yard line can't see a number of who that's with but that's irrelevant as friberg's offense will now come out onto the field after the touchback wibby on the year is absolutely booting the football love to see it and from a kicker a game like this field possession is a huge huge key so whibi on the year averaging 53 yards a kick in the conference the next closest person is at 47.

young men but you know it's for everybody you know i wanted my daughter to learn how to do everything you know when i even share in the book that we uh when we built the fence christine and kyle were both out there with me building the fence learning how to do it because i think it's uh yeah i just think it's it's important to learn as much as you can you know please don't limit yourself right um it's all about empowering and you know we've shared this we talk about this all the time about um yeah like when somebody somebody made a comment oh that's a that's that's mom's job uh making biscuits or you know wrapping a present you know it should be your job it should be anybody yeah you learn how to do anything right i mean it's it's why are we and then you know changing the you tire to know how to change the tire everybody should know how to change the tire you know you don't want to rely on some so my husband or my boyfriend or whoever is going to take care of that you need to learn how to change the tire so you know you're not stuck on the side of the road you know how to do it so totally sorry cut you off no i just love the word empower because you know it's kind of like my end courage right uh it's there's power in that you know it's m power let's you know uh continue to be kind to each other and empower one another totally yes and on that note wait but um but in the same way now you all feel empowered to be able to share that if you would like to join our book launch team and to be a part of that movement and encouraging other people to learn new things and there's a link also in the description for how to join the book launchers like a quick application and if you fill that out and there's only a limited amount of space though but we'll do our best to try and include as many of you that want to participate um but you get access to an exclusive private facebook group that dad who is slowly learning how to use facebook but he'll participate in it and there'll be giveaways within the group like exclusive giveaways he can only access within the group you'll get a copy an ebook copy of the book there's something else cool with it too but we're gonna be well we get a live q a yeah you'll get an exclusive facebook live q a if you join as well all of that is in and we're [Laughter] so we're going to do something like right after the book launcher right before right before the book launch we're going to have q a fun time together yeah it'll be like a party q a yeah so you'll get like a little sneak peek like this is a sneak peek but it's not like a launch yeah launch party so wait is it us only is that the or the giveaway is only us the giveaway is but what about oh no you can order the book but i mean no the book launch team yeah yeah anywhere and everywhere and i know we've got a couple applications i saw from like asia and one from europe so yes okay that will not discount you i would encourage you to join that i think it could be it could be a lot of fun and it's so fun like in fact again i think the fact that you can participate in yeah equipping other people it's such a good time yeah like please join um yeah um we also had if you have any questions too about the book launch or about the facebook group drop them in the chat we'll do our best to answer okay i see one question here so full vengeance hey dad what do you do if you're in need of therapy but the places in your town tell you they aren't equipped to help someone oh my goodness okay i won't read the rest but so you know i've actually there's actually uh a good and i'll be doing a video on this um because they reached out to me but there's a place called betterhelp.com and you can get a hold of a therapist through there and they set up a zoom call and you can connect with them they're uh yeah and i've actually checked them out first i didn't want to recommend it and i said you know i need to see what this looks like um and i shared uh in my book um kind of a sad there's actually a sad part of my book is with my mom um because you know when our family kind of fell apart my mom uh needed some you know we all need some help at different times so i don't think it's anything to be ashamed of so please don't be ashamed of it right i mean um you know we we go to the gym and get exercise i think it's okay to you know hey i wasn't quite sure how to handle this or whatever you know whatever you've got going on you know there's people that there's qualified people that can help a lot of times we go to our friends and our friends can help only so much but they're not you know necessarily equipped equipped yeah right so i mean it's nice to have an ear but sometimes you need some advice to go along with that so anyway betterhelp.com i would highly recommend them and i'm not getting paid to say that right now but um it sounds like we might be doing a video talking about that because i think it's it's important mental health is so important mm-hmm yeah we're big proponents of therapy yeah yeah yeah well i'll be honest with you uh yeah just transparent with you i would be honest with you anyway but transparent with you i i remember um you know struggling with anxiety and i shared a little bit about that um but and then talking to other people and then oh i i see a therapist for that oh i see a therapist you do i i have no idea that you know so many people because i think we kind of maybe are ashamed of it or whatever kind of keep that quiet because i don't handle it they can handle it also you don't want anybody to think that you know and i think it's become more you know the stigma um i think we need to get that out there and yeah yeah so that it's no longer this thing that people are ashamed of totally so anyway that's what i would say yeah no that's awesome yep um let's see we had some questions oh okay two that i asked people on instagram and i know you put out a video yesterday so we just jump right in yeah and answer them sure okay so this one's from youtube um you already answered this but let's go ahead at joyce bakera becerra i apologize if that's not how you pronounce your name i'm so excited to get your book please let us know when the book is available that you already shared that when is it available may 18th 18th so mount saint helens erupted on may 18th in 1980 remember mount st hollands if you can't remember when my book comes out pacific northwest there you go yeah um okay katie asked what was one of the first things you learned to cook so this is actually kind of a funny story so popcorn um when i was a kid and my older siblings and i had no idea because i was clueless my older siblings used to say rob makes the best popcorn i i ate it up thought oh i do make the best popcorn i'd go in and we had we have this uh and i'm gonna actually show you guys how to make popcorn because i i kind of am homemade popcorn really good at making popcorn it's really hard no i'm just joking so uh and we had this old popcorn popper that you current you know you turn the handle on and um put in the oil and yeah and it's the best popcorn so anyway that's the first thing i learned i learned to cook um and then i would always you know i'd go they'd all still be watching tv and i'd be off making popcorn thinking i was the best at it and uh little did i know that they were just telling me that yeah [Laughter] all right kathleen hannigan can you share with us your early life when where when born probably where or when were you born and where you grew up brothers sisters what was your family life like so anything you'd like to yeah so some of that you know i do cover that in the book um and i was actually born in new orleans uh in 1964.

so i thought he had a little bit bigger yeah he had six yards i thought he's a little bit bigger lead than that so pretty so columbia comes out four down linemen three linebackers sniffer back to the left of the quarterback with the running back to the left of the quarterback they try the hard count route off the bat doesn't go gonna take the snap gonna look like it was an option on the plane it's going to be fumbled by the freebird quarterback and it looks like it could be freeburg ball it looked like it bounced right up at him and it did number 55 i guess i was alignment down the field looked like it bounced right back up into his chest i wonder what uh freeberg had on for me on the way here some popcorn or yeah man two fumbles and not even three minutes not even 10 seconds of having the football so gain a four on the play you're going to send the sniffer back in motion doubles to the left side going to be a false start stoppage of play i didn't even see a flag be thrown i think the official just blew the whistle and said no that's good enough we don't need a flag so the false start is a loss of five on the play brings up a second down and 11 for the offense that is averaging 47 points a game doubles to the left side gonna move the running back to the right side now they're going to move the sniffer back to the right going to be a straight hand off to the running back who's going to put his head down he's going to gain about two and be brought down by a couple eagles on the play to bring up that passing down that coach germaine wanted to do yeah that's what like he said earlier uh if we can hold them in on first down not getting that many yards it forces them to open the field a little more maybe toss the ball around so uh that's nice to see uh third down here with 10 yards to go see if they can throw a little pass going to be a run to the right side a little bit of a roll out and it's not going to be anything for the freeburg offense right now [Applause] number 15 colin mclaren it looks like flying up to make the big tackle mclaren great job playing outside linebacker there just forcing him outside running right with him and kind of slammed him on the ground if you ask me alex i mean he looked like he got there in a flash and colin plays with a little bit of swag he's got the intensity i like it so it's going to be officially a loss of four on the play to go back to a fourth down and 12.

2021-04-10 Hampden County, MA YouTube / ELCAT01028 transcript source: youtube ELHS Spartans Football vs. Minnechaug · passage 3
no there i believe it is [Music] well anyways rosters always have given us trouble in the past unfortunately at the high school level especially michael o'shea on the east song medical roster shout out mr o'shea and they give good for a good handful they get about half there it'll be second about five or six now dev out of i know that you should be asking me this but you're a fairly intelligent individual so i'm gonna ask you instead what does what do the spartans need to do here that should see just gotta pick up the aggression i mean you know they've had a few incompletions those don't help the pick six doesn't help play action though for the falcons and getting a couple's ryan mcconnell he will be close to the marker i believe it will remain third down third down to one from the nineteen third and one and i believe jeremy deal in a quarterback now he just looks like a quarterback right absolutely caleb reland also quarterback he's out way wide right and now the give will be enough for a first down minichog has been fairly successful in their run game so far nothing too big but consistent chunks that are should be pretty good wear and tear on the spartans defense [Music] so a fresh set of downs seven and a half minutes to go [Music] and dropping back to pass mcconnell fires knocked away nice play made there that was jacob rabadoo defensive played by number eight jacob second down great play especially from a pitcher coming out of retirement on the football field he's him and sorry jacob rabadoo and football is quite the love story if you ask me he's been in and out of this program throughout his four years at east line middle high school it's been intriguing to see from the sidelines and now mcconnell to give and i don't know i'm saying the wrong name is deal to mcconnell minitrog is running red 53 totally beyond me as to what that means but let's see under seven minutes now deal in the backfield and the give is to mcconnell now we got that squared away max preps has really been in my head and i believe that will be another first down chains move and it will be a first and goal yes from uh about the appears to be nine i'd say eight we'll split the difference they said ten sorry from the eight there it is so i guess i was correct 6 20 to go deal takes the snap looks to drop back to pass fires end zone wide open that will be a touchdown joe garvey just a good play there obviously a spartan's defense got a little confused as to what was going on so that's how you know it's pretty good joseph garvey the touchdown so jeremy deal with a passing touchdown finds joe garvey and miniature with a two score lead about halfway through this first quarter of action still only halfway through though dev so no need to panic um not sure what's going on [Music] um extra point was good i see mr gabe all stop number 77 walking on the field right there on the sideline i know gabe just wanted to put that on shout out gabe hello gabe spartans trying to find some sort of production [Music] and now the kick away got a little squib kick here yep it's fielded and fallen on nice special team play made there nathan leclair wow these rosters are killing me i apologize if i'm getting names wrong i printed out a roster and i think i pointed out look it says 84 nathan leclair never your fault well oh well we got a bit of a stoppage in play here dev was that a time out taken i believe so but anyways breaking the action mike what are the spartans got to do to turn this thing around and just keep their dignity i mean it's only the first quarter you can't sag your head right now you gotta stay in it yeah i mean that was fairly offensive of you to suggest that we're gonna lose our dignity here devin but that's okay um no but what i will say is that the spartans just need to keep onto the ball a little bit longer so i feel like we haven't quite exploited our run game nearly as much as we should or as we have in the past so i feel like if we uh we could get some garbage down that way minotaug has been fairly successful doing so and um all we got to do is just get small chunks and get the chains moving and i feel like we should be in pretty good shape do you disagree i don't disagree i think that's great analysis i'd like to see isaiah king get going he's got some wheels for sure and i'd like to see what he could do if he utilizes them you know i really like the turf tape aesthetic he's got going on there you go just really looks like he can put up some big numbers when you're wearing turf tape you know now i believe shane becker coming in at the quarterback position now after two quick drives for kind of robidu becker rolls out right pass complete that's a good throw right there especially on the run and i believe that's going to be johnny ferentino coming down with a catch for about one complete from decker i would just like everyone to make note of ryan delaney's size mr 79 on the offensive line just an absolute unit so i just i've been thinking about that the entire game i i had to say i believe correct me if i'm wrong university of new haven commit for football university of new haven commit for so a few and a handful of good talent on this spartans team exactly you'd like to see them get going anyways becker with a king to his left spartans have been running that shotgun formation and pass is complete but drops behind the line few miss blocks there and limping up a bit it's preston longo but he seems to be okay so becker two for two for negative one yard uh and the two plays we've seen on this drive minichog spent all over the spartans and now becker steps up trying to make some moves and he is tackled it'll be fourth down there he picked up a lot of yards quick though so he's a he's a quick kid which i like to see there yeah he's definitely shifty and it looks like spartans are going to be punting here even though that's a three and out dev i feel like that was a step in the right direction absolutely picked up some good yardage so cj calogy we're in for another treat here bad snap but kaloji recovers and now kozub almost fumbled it there anyways he's off to the races this kid has some wheels for what we've seen and he is just going to run all the way up the field cj keloji the last man cj cology he said hi how are you that was a great tackle by cj yeah but you never wanted to get as far as to your kicker no but trying to be a glass half full guy here death no i agree i agree sure i'm all for the [Music] positivity and so now jeremy deal he's already got a touchdown pass and looking for another four minutes to go and the give is to mcconnell mcconnell a little gap play there and good for about half of the yards they needed lucas ferguson 77 game also devin i never asked how are you doing fantastic mike thank you for asking umass hockey going to the national championship so i'm ecstatic i live and breathe umass sports so that that was that made my day it was a great game one in overtime woke up the town it was a great day jeremy deal now the give bouncing off one tackle and getting a couple more and willie's met by ferentino and a few others i believe that was freeland on the carry could be wrong it's pretty good barton's defense though it really just swarmed him so third in one chance to stuff him [Music] twice and deal in the backfield takes a snap and to mcconnell a little sweet play mcconnell busts through trucks over a man and he's in for the touchdown he just bowled over mojon and it will be 20 to nothing and threatening for more here in the first quarter 21 ryan mcconnell and extra point three for three on the day for mr seen some great kicking so far mr dom beck three of three spartans trail by three scores here early 245 to go in the first and at this point everybody just gotta play their game you know got nothing to lose can only get better from here that's exactly right big special teams play here could really do something big for the spartans and now back set to kick away doesn't try any tricks this time kick is fielded and he runs into his own man bounces off him though and tackle made i believe on the return that was number 10 will start on their 35.

2021-04-10 Middlesex County, MA YouTube / Dad, how do I? transcript source: youtube Dad, how do I: LIVE + GIVEAWAY · passage 3
my dad my older siblings were born in kansas and then uh um then the work kind of dried up there again i shared that in my book um and then we went to new orleans and that's where i was born and we went there for the space program uh back in the day back in the 60s and then my dad ended up getting a job at boeing up here in the seattle area up in everett and so that's what brought us up here and we moved up here in 66 so um yeah and then i grew up in bellevue washington um and then yeah we're in the still in the seattle area now nice um i wanted to take one from the chat because i don't know this one less than handy who was slash is the most influential person in your life to you probably rick i was gonna say yeah my brother rick um yep and i talk about him in the book um you know so again i talk about each of my siblings my brother rick i probably there was uncle rick in the chat you seriously do make the best popcorn okay rick rick uh rick's still trying to keep that thing going i'm on to you rick i'm on to you uh but yeah rick's probably the most uh influential person in in my life i um yeah and he i just talking about the therapy thing that we were talking about um you know rick uh has helped me a ton with that even though he's not qualified at all there you go rick uh but he uh yeah he helped me through a lot of stuff and i i share that in the book i call it coughing up hairballs there's times like even in my 40s where um from some of my past um dealing with some stuff i you know we i would talk to rick on the phone for hours um sorry karen and annalee that's true though we would talk for hours and uh yeah and i would call call it coughing up a hairball because i'd sit there and sob and rick would listen to me and you know kind of walk me through some stuff so anyway and he helped me you know he taught me a lot too as far as a lot of handy type of things yeah i think having anybody like that in your life is a treasure yeah so really it should be uncle rick how do i so i'm handing the reins over to him he's gonna he's gonna take over my channel he'll probably be showing us something no he'll be showing up more so um does unclear have a youtube channel there you go uncle rick there's i see someone asking for that rick is awesome he is um okay another question so adam whitley asked what was the actual moment you got notified about your youtube success or virality yeah so um [Music] you know it it's funny because early on we uh we had no idea this is gonna be what it is and i've shared you know i always stick with the number 30 or 40 because honestly that's what we thought it was going to be you know help 30 or 40 people and so we started in april and then we had um christine shared it with a group called the scrubbers and listen to the scrubbing and pockets scrubbing in podcasts and they're called the scrubbers and they were so encouraging and it was like what did we have then we had like a thousand subscribers i'm like it was wow a thousand people and they were so encouraging they were you know we were we've all been trying to promote kindness too but um they yeah they're so cut yeah the podcast is great the community they've built is fantastic great people you know um so i can't um give them enough of a shout out they're yeah just amazing people and then so in the middle of april after that happened word kind of got around locally um and i was on uh a tv station what was first chicago i think chicago reached out first yeah so somebody from chicago his name was javier i can't remember the channel though i'm sorry javier here the there you go yeah so he and he was so kind and he wanted they wanted to have me on and he was i really think you're gonna do great things um so i was like okay yeah i'll do that i didn't sleep that whole night like i shared with you live too yeah with uh with my anxiety i didn't sleep i woke up and i'm like oh my goodness and then they wanted me to tie a tie you know how to tie a tie and i think it went horribly but um you know got my feet wet with that um and then i was on uh q13 which is a local television station and i was like oh my goodness what is happening and then um yeah then after that then uh reddit got a hold of it and once read it got a hold of it then it started going and then i got to give a shout out to chris hart so chris hart um posted we don't know who he is he's never known he didn't know him at all and he posted it on uh facebook and and he sent me an email he said hey man i posted this and this is going bananas uh so anyway thank you so much chris we don't know each other but um i am i am grateful for um for how how you shared it and then uh selena spooky boo um selena um said very nice put up this little cute little thing and i was like even touched by it it was such a neat little uh thing that she did yeah right i mean what a cool she's awesome she is awesome her sleepwalking series also enjoy if you get a chance to watch her on that yeah so anyway and she's she is so kind we reached out to her recently and we're gonna have her uh yeah yeah on the anniversary of your channel yeah we just so we reached out to them yeah so anyway and she's so gracious she got right back to us yeah yeah so she's really sweet yeah so um and then i had a couple from instagram oh real quick are they trip questions no trick questions let's just do do do do do do let me scroll down here what does the book cover look like at richard here it is oh we have an awesome local photographer who took these pictures took the picture to my friend allison fan allison fan took the pictures we went to marymore park and took some pictures so that's what it looks like if you need pictures taken you're in the seattle area at phantography on instagram she's great um at daddy saturday asked uh well he first said can't wait to see your story shared through the book how have you taken what you left from your own father figure and done differently with your own kids yeah yeah so for i got to say something about daddy saturday too yeah yeah that's right that's awesome yeah so that was uh um justin batt um wrote a book called daddy saturday and christine had reached out to justin about possibly coming on his podcast and he was so gracious to let us on because we only had we had that was probably even before we said we have like maybe 100 subscribers which is still more than we have yeah yeah yeah so thanks justin if you're if you're here appreciate you brother um yeah so as far as doing things different than my data you know i've shared a lot on my um the interviews that i've been on when i was 14 you know after after that gut punch of finding out that um yeah what happened in my own life uh i you know i determined that where i was gonna never do that myself and then raise i was gonna raise good kids and i married well my wife is awesome and she um her and i uh it was important to us to make sure to um raise good kids or good adults i've always said good adults because i didn't want you know i didn't want them living in my basement and it's bittersweet when they move out and yeah and then ryan stole my daughter from me and um yeah so anyway so yeah and ryan's awesome yeah yeah and so they uh they're great and they moved they moved away for a time and i encouraged that and or we encourage that and then my son moved away and you know that was bittersweet but it it's good he kyle my son kyle is doing great he's in virginia um yeah so at code phoenix just said today he lost his dad just wanted to acknowledge and say so sorry for your loss so i'm sorry about that yeah um let's see so at i'm dying to tell you podcasts said oh how exciting love seeing you spreading the love you went on her podcast i was on her podcast um she asked what is a blessing that came out of creating your new book that you were not expecting i think there's so been so many blessings i think it would be hard to narrow it down to one i i think kind of revisiting everything i guess and appreciating my my siblings all over again um for how they stepped up you know what the story the chapter about my sister laurie and what she did for for us when we were little and you know um it's you know i think lori was probably 19 at that time or around there and i think of you know when you were 19 or whatever you know i don't know my siblings really were very mature um at a young age because then they stepped up and helped us younger siblings in an amazing way so yeah that's all i really had for questions okay um yeah is there any last parting words well i guess not last frameworks i wanted to encourage again book launch please yeah join the book launch team i think that'll be a lot of fun together so uh team dad how do i because normally we get to interact in these ways that we'll be like on a team together so that's gonna really fun yeah we could answer some questions here oh sure once we were thinking this would go about 45 minutes yeah let me shout out this one so i do have one question up here um daniella maya what was your initial reaction when your channel blew up so uh you probably heard me say that on some of the podcasts but honestly i was curled up in a ball uh crying because my face and my wife can attest to this i you know um my face was everywhere and it was scary uh you know we didn't do this to become famous or you know i wasn't planning on switching careers i wasn't you know we my wife and i had a pretty good life we uh we planned well you know we were on a trajectory to retire um you know and then this thing happened and so it was scary it was absolutely scary so kind of got my feet underneath underneath me now yeah it's still yeah it's still pretty hard to believe i have to yeah no for sure i remember calling you like the morning because i open up my phone it's just million and growing and so i called you and i said dad where are you do you know what you said no he said i'm in my closet now um we're currently not doing youtube full time right now someone just asked that yeah so did you have to quit your day job to write a book on top of everything else i you know i haven't actually quit my day job i'm still doing that um yeah that's why you know i i don't know if i should apologize for not putting out as many videos because we just are trying to figure this thing out still you know um if anything thank you for your patience yeah that's navigating all this absolutely yeah thank you so much because we had no idea you know um i we didn't know what what yeah i think we're both a little scared like oh my goodness what what is going on someone asked at out alone asked do you like any sports you do like yeah yeah i love sports i i um uh football but you know when we grew up and i share some of that in my uh in my book too uh football was always a big part of my life and i actually played college football at a small university in in washington uh but you know basketball i play basketball and play you know try to play everything again it's one of those things where i don't want to limit myself so i try to learn how to play you know corn hole and play washer toss and play you know anything and everything i'm not necessarily great at any of them but i know how to play them and golf you know i know how to play golf but i never never got great at it at em beach asked huskies fan i mean she's a huskies fan because she went to new zealand uh yeah i like the huskies yep so nice but i went to central i went to central washington so i'm a wild cat at less than handy asked pizza slices or squares we're going to get pizza after this we are yeah slices what are your favorite toppings have you played disc golf i have not played that i haven't played that it's not that i don't want to i just haven't had the opportunity to we have a there's one nearby my place we should go play this golf okay um where did you learn how do i keep my head so shiny um i don't think anyone asks i buff it no somebody says it's right at the top it takes a lot of effort and nana do you have just one dollar wait brandon roy i was just on it i was just on his butt on his podcast he says it's a hot dog a sandwich and they asked me that on there on that phone tune into that podcast they're really fun yeah yeah is oh i guess you have to wait and see for the podcast just for your answer on whether or not it's a sandwich yeah okay i don't know if that was included oh okay how tall are you i'm six seven you are i'm six you're six three i think people think that because when you see pictures of us yeah take a storm yeah i'm six i'm shrinking because i'm getting old so i think i was six three at one time i'm six two now do i play any instruments i uh i played around with the guitar but i never got great at it you can do chords i can do chords i can't play chords have you ever done interviews for other countries i have yeah i've done all kinds of i've done um australia germany ireland uh south africa yeah um i don't know you would know better than me it was a blur last year it was yeah it was a blur at andromeda galaxy asked what's your favorite cheese i've been on a swiss cheese kick lately i don't know why i grew up i i you know i grew up with american cheese which was nasty and then when i moved in when i lived in rick and karen they introduced me to cheddar cheese and i was like oh man that's a whole new ball game yeah and then i i like swiss cheese lately i don't know why nice um did you want to take any more questions i'm waiting as long as you keep asking questions i guess we'll hang with you if you guys are good and then people can leave if they don't uh tell them fan yep i've been to the tillamook factory years ago yep um do you get recognized often no you're wearing masks i'm wearing you know i try to try to wear my disguise when i go out christine doesn't think it's very good but yeah this is why i'm here to keep you humble [Laughter] it's not like i'm dressed up like a clown or something i just wear a different hat to throw people i don't wear my dad how do i hat in public now people know what are we gonna do no no shoot i don't speak spanish no i i actually took german uh because i have some german roots and so i took that and that is hasn't helped me at all i learned i think i i learned one ekwei which means i don't know and the the the teacher would always give me credit at least for that one because it's a legitimate answer i don't know that's true that's it a wig will throw people off yeah that's true if i wore a wig christine doesn't think i need i need a disguise what she's saying friends on the internet siblings um yeah well for more conversation like columbia running a man onto the field late it's gonna be a low snap but it is handled gonna be a short punt way out and get way out of bounds a freebird coach threw his play sheet up in the air columbia will take over near the 40-yard line so field possession once again for the eagles offense starting at the 40-yard line great great field position for coach owner's offense and that's the best thing you can ask for uh right there great field position start uh start a good drive with a 7-0 lead columbia offense averaging 32 points a game the only low scoring game that we had was at say central on the mud pit of a field where we were only allowed to score 12 points that night motion man is london little he's gonna have to make a couple men miss he makes one man miss trying to fight up to the light of scrimmage he's gonna lose two on the play freiberg did a good job of just stringing that play out yeah great great pursuit there by number 55 and number one here for freeberg um just flying down the line and a lot of little's gonna have a lot of um a lot of people looking out for him this year the rest of the year since they know um how much damage he can do so great job there by freeberg to get in great pursuit of london little empty backfield doubles to the right side trips to the left mcconaughey and whib to the right side and that's where dom's gonna look but he can't get the ball out so now he's just gonna have to tuck it and run and that's what he does he's got a lot of open field good stock blocking by whitby that's a gain of 25 yards and good for another columbia eagles first down he likes to uh he likes to fake a throw after he gets past the line of scrimmage all the time and he still faked the linebacker out i know we've seen him throw the ball past the line of scrimmage probably twice already this year but uh he's a sophomore he's still learning so um but great job there by vaguely to use his feet and get 30 30 yards down field and get a first down inside the red zone for the eagles columbia enters the red zone great job by wibby right there uh running his route getting down the field turning around becoming stalk blocker and gave another five yards on the play mcconaughey was trying to get out there to stalk block just couldn't get out there for him trips to the left side we're going to hand the ball off up the middle to mcconaughey a missed block by the eagles there and there was nobody other than that guy who made the tackle if he makes that man miss he might have himself a touchdown and going back to what london said in the interview he said we need to be able to run inside the tackles and the guards and from looking looking early we we haven't really been able to do it um we ran outside a couple times so we'll see if we can start getting the ball on the inside a little bit trips to the left side rolling out to the left he had a guy at the sticks now he's going to turn around reverse the feel he's going to make one man miss he's going to keep his head down get down to this five or six yard line look like he had london right at the sticks but hey i'll take that just as much it's like houdini out there it's not good so we talk about running inside the sticks kyle mcconaughey coming into tonight 35 attempts for 156 yards four and a half yards of carry you want a little bit more out of that of your starting running back whenever something like that's going on yeah definitely well any and he's not the biggest guy out there so i know coach horner likes getting them out in space and letting them use his feet a little bit so we'll see if coach horner can get him inside the tackles tonight and see if he can get some more yardage heavy for the eagles third down and three he's gonna try to get in between those linemen he's gonna gain about two bring up a fourth down and short run the same play again oh we got about two yards to go one and a half yards is that a long one or a short two i'd say a short two sure two okay yeah yeah because you know if you only gain one you're not getting the first time you need to go for the two looks like coach horner's debating on maybe calling a timeout here to talk about what he wants to do here on this fourth down play i didn't expect this i i didn't either this early in the in the half too but looked like coach horner's gonna burn a timeout fourth uh first quarter here on fourth and two right at the five yard line so time out for the eagles here we will send it to a break and we will be back for the big fourth down in one from columbia welcome back to the columbia multi-purpose field where the eagles lead the midgets seven to nothing with just under five minutes to go in this week four cahokia conference battle alex schlemmer and jared germain here tonight and columbia talked about it and they said you know what let's just kick a few points let's get the points make it a two possession game here early in the first quarter bit of a tough angle being such a short angle for wibbs good snap good hold gets it off to the left side and he gets it right down central that one stayed in the stadium that time so that extends the eagles lead 10 to nothing real quick here into the first quarter jared you're four years playing freeburg what were your scores you said you never lost to him in the pregame show yeah so i know i remember we played at freeburg my junior year and i actually had myself that was probably one of my best games i've ever had my varsity career i had two touchdowns and two picks a couple of pats so um that was a pretty memorable game for me but i was going to ask you whenever you said columbia multi-purpose field we go back to last week whenever you were saying jim finksfield um do you think that columbia will ever name their field like a scott horner dome or something like that i was thinking i don't know if we'll get a scott horner dome um the columbia community is great but i don't know if we can afford a dome here for the high school but uh you know i don't know we've had a lot of greats come through um jerry jermaine comes to mind coach horner comes to mind um so there's your two coaches but you got a lot of donors and everybody that could also be mentioned you could have a stadium name and a field name who knows i think it would be neat to do though whitby absolutely bombs this one there's no chance this is getting caught five yards deep in the end zone mr iturski gonna have to recover that one oh he does a little was it desmond howard is that his name does the heisman post yeah tursky fields it cleanly does the heisman pose he started a new tradition i think they've got the uh it's one of the track mats i don't know which event that is i don't know which map that is but after the anthem he just falls off into it he just falls over it just looks like he's falling off the ladder and nope he just plays back disappears motion man for the midgets offense is going to be a decoy they're going to try to go up the middle got the pile moving a little bit of a sarcastic cheer it sounds like from the freebird crowd lucas stone on the carry for the midgets good for three yards freebird going tempo here they're going to fake the hand off the jet sweep quarterback's going to keep it to the right side great contained by the eagles defense not allowing anything we'll see if we can figure out a number there's a big ugly down there number 77 for the eagles mason kohlenberger on the play and like we said earlier this uh lucas stone 57 attempts 457 rushing yards so uh he's averaging eight yards of carry this year with five touchdowns so i bet he's already got five six carries here in this first quarter so we'll definitely hear his name called a lot more in this game third down and five just gonna be a quarterback run to the right side and who is that is that mclaren again who's number 24.

he is only a freshman according to max yes he weighs zero pounds yeah max preps has definitely got their licks in on us 237 to go quarter one and becker dropping back and he is trying to avoid the sack but eventually down easy it's a pretty big hit yeah mick harrigan he's also a freshman nick harrigan getting the sack loss of six it'll be second down and 16 to go [Applause] oh and now back giving or knock back geez i'm getting all these names becker the give to king and only good for about one or a few under a minute 40 to go spartans in a bit of a hole here 21-0 our score becker takes the snap dropping back looking passing he overthrew him by a fair margin and it will be fourth down and 12. he did get hit after that after he threw that so yeah i definitely took a shot yeah now i'm trying to figure out there's something around his neck is it a towel or just looking at that i might be his pad or it could be the pad next plate i don't know interesting minute 21 to go 21 nothing is our score spartans trying to create some sort of momentum here as miniature seeming to be running away see what cj cologia can do if he can impress me one more time and he blasts that one kosov will lay off fields it well though and look at him catch some speed this kid can run makes a move there and up to the 44-yard line of the falcons you know what i do not enjoy is the bounces that he has been receiving yeah off of these punts they've really just been going straight into his hands so if we could change that i would appreciate it [Music] first down for mid jog from their own 44.

i need some better eyes i think that's whibby whibby came out of there last wibby was up there in a hurry loss of two on the play just running a little quarterback power to the right i mean we haven't seen him throw the ball that much number 24 on the night is oliver schroeder typically number 22 in the program the black jersey number 24. coach germain told us about that before the game i forgot oh it goes for the blue block and it doesn't work this punt's a little bit better for freeberg though as it will get a good freeberg roll and it will be in columbia territory coach germain just yelled up to me before the game hey schlem schrader's number 24 tonight not number 22. i went to the field kendall tells me hey schrader's number 24 tonight not number 22.
