So that means that from Berlin, and these are only projections, right? But if they are realized, it means that those schools will be at 82 percent of their capacity. In the secondary schools, you see that the school that emerged is the one with fewer than 7 and 8 students, and that the island center would eventually be closed. Folio has a capacity of 1,269, and we are projecting that in 2022-2023 we will have 1,033 students. So that means that Folio would have a capacity of 81 percent. The A high school, the preparatory school, and it says "new school," but it's not a new school where there will be a new building or a new site, but the idea here is that there would be a new school on the campus of ASUS A high school. So Xhosa High School has a capacity of 2,001, 2,100, 24, and the The projection is that in 2022-2023 we will have 2,022 students, meaning that César High School, or this new school, would have a capacity of not just one capacity, but in 2022-2023 it would be at 95 percent of its capacity.

This is model 4, and again, here you can see the elementary schools. They change a little in this model. So, if you look at all the schools in Apple, those are the schools that would remain open. There on the right are the capacities of each school. And in this model, Lee School and Alirio School would be closed. If we combine the capacity of all those schools, the capacity is 4,251 students, but we are projecting that in 2022-2023 we will have 3,715 students. So, those schools would be at 87 percent of their capacity. In the secondary schools, this model has two schools, from 7 to 12, and those two schools would be their respective agents, Cool and Honors, combined with their acronym Tone. They have a capacity of 4,032 students, but in On the 22nd and 23rd, we are projecting 3,055 students, so that means that thanks to High School and Sons High School, we would be at 75% of our capacity.

So now, what happens? What are the next steps? We want to tell you that very soon we will have a survey for all our parents and our community that will be shared by email, our social media channels, and our website. This survey will be asking you which model you prefer, Model 3 or Model 4. There will also be an opportunity in this survey where each person, if they wish, can also communicate an idea, a concern, or a suggestion. There will also be an opportunity for that in this survey. This survey will also be given to our staff, and the staff will have the same opportunity as our parents and our community. The school reorganization team will meet once again after having the data from these two surveys, and in that meeting, the school reorganization team will decide which recommendation to give. The best thing is not a single recommendation, but what recommendations will be given to our education board, our board of directors, when that re The recommendation or recommendations are given at the board meeting, and that's where this process begins.

Now, the board and the education committee begin to study this process, listen to the parent survey, listen to the staff survey, listen to the recommendations of this committee, and begin to decide what will happen in our district. For more detailed information, we want to tell you that we have a page on our website dedicated solely to this topic. There we have videos, documents, and summaries of all the meetings we 've had with this team, and there you can find a lot of information. We'll also send that link so that those who want to can watch the video. These two things will also be included in the survey. So, for those who couldn't watch today, couldn't be here, or want to learn more, we'll have this in the survey so that everyone can participate, share their opinion, and give their feedback.

We have about 20 minutes to take these live questions, and I want to remind you that if you have any questions, please write them in the box. Kenny, because we want to make sure we're answering all the questions, so we don't want to run out of time today without being able to answer in the future. So please, if you can, put your questions there. We appreciate it.

So if you have any questions right now, please raise your hand and we'll listen to your question and try to answer it. Okay, so I'm going to ask Miss Juarez, what's your guide to Nibali, Risk, and Angelina? Okay, let's give her a little bit of time again.

If you have any questions you want to ask live right now, we want to give you this opportunity. Just raise your hand and we'll give the opportunity to ask those questions to WikiLeaks, Hendrix, Bar Babel, Ms. Elba Carpio, Roberts. Although my question is, I just heard a little bit earlier in the first one I saw in English, and I kind of heard a priest asking if they were thinking of closing Glasston. Right now I didn't hear anything about that. I don't know if I missed it, but it was about closing Gaston and leaving things and turning it into a new one. School completely, if that's true, I want to start by saying that this is just an idea, it's not something that has been decided, but if in model number four that's the case, in the case that Larsson High School would be closed and the ASUS High School on that large site, in that school there would be a new high school, I mean, no, we're not going to build a new Jesus, but on the campus, in that school is where the new school would be, so yes, yes, that's true, and that's in model number 4.

Thank you for your question, and can you explain to me how, okay, Mr. La Palma, we're okay, good afternoon or evening, and I, well, I have nothing, well, I just joined the meeting, for about 50 or so, I managed to see something about models 3 and 4, but both models show that they are going to close it, is that true, how is that, I don't know, although thank you, thank you for your question, so yes, it's true, but it's only true in those two models, it's not true that that has already been decided, so no, there is no decision that the Larsson High School is going to close, that's only seen in Those models, but the board still has to follow its process, so it's possible that the school isn't closing. Why? Because it's seen in both models doesn't necessarily mean it's definitely going to close.

Thank you for the question. Thank you. I don't even know. I know, Mr. Rosell, good evening. I have a question for my students at the Victor Paz school, and I would like to know, for example, if there are only 30 students, because obviously there would be approximately 80 students in the class. My question is, my doubt is, is it by lottery with this pandemic? This is for the... Thank you for your question, and both... Yes, I understood it well. The question is, right now in our classrooms there is a maximum number of students we can have in a classroom, and that is through a contract we have with our groups here in the USA. So, this doesn't affect the number of students in each classroom, and those numbers we have right now remain the same, even though some schools may close. Then those students have to go to other schools, but that doesn't mean that suddenly the number of students in each classroom is going to grow.
⚗ AI-reconstructed · cite from original above
No, what will happen is that staff will come with those... Students too, so there will be more teachers in more classrooms, so the answer is no. Thank you for being here. In that context, Acevedo Rocker, good evening. Good evening. I ask you about the other models. Look, like the other lady asked, and it would close in the 3rd and 4th grades. I have two children still in elementary school. I know it's not anything yet, as you said, nothing 100% certain, but thank you. In that case, how would it affect them or where would they go? They are perfectly fine. Can you tell me what grade they are in right now? They are in fourth and fifth grade, okay? So, for this example, only your students, yes, the decision is that number one is or isn't. It starts up to the 22nd or 23rd, which is the current recommendation.
⚗ AI-reconstructed · cite from original above
Number two is that this is going to take 3 years, it's going to be a three- year phase, which is the current recommendation. So, if your students, this doesn't affect them at all because if the school were to close, your students would n't be in that school anymore. The ones who will be affected are those who are currently maybe in kindergarten or first grade. So, maybe there Yes, there is an effect, but right now I couldn't tell you if the school closes, which school or schools they will go to. But I can tell you with confidence that if the final decision is what is currently being considered, this will take three years and won't start until 22 or 23. That doesn't affect our students, our students who are in fourth, fifth, and sixth grade. Perfect, thank you. I didn't understand until this part, but now that I understand about the three years, I understand better.

Thank you very much. Thank you. Martinez explains, I have this mute, we ca n't hear it until now. Now yes, okay. The preceding certificate in the genes with a special site on the path of science by Elvis Scott Campbell Jr. Ford, since before and not Maite is not good opening, says his daughter Laura Ling. Maribel Martinez Ingo firstly gave a comment that maybe right now is a great opportunity to reevaluate how many students there are in a classroom so maybe it is an opportunity to reduce the number of students in the classrooms and also asked what will happen with the properties where they will see schools that are closed so a very good question to the The current thinking is that when the board of directors, the board of education, makes the final decision— and this is already final—we will immediately begin a new process to study, to imagine, and to decide what will happen to those properties that are empty because right now we already have two: Manchen Vivo and what used to be the adult education center, and the school is closing. So I don't know what will happen to the properties, but what I do know is that the intention is that immediately after this process ends, we will begin a new process to determine what happens to those properties.

So thank you very much for that question. Explain to me, I'm going to Islas, my son [Music] next to me, listen. Yes, look, you're asking me about this. Right now, with the pandemic, my daughter Victoria and I were in a very large class, more than forty students. My daughter didn't do very well, and she only started improving towards the end. But that's how they're going to do it. I feel that if many schools close, they're not going to leave, as you say, fewer students. Right now, what I see... Regarding the pandemic, the teacher was given a heavy workload, both my daughter's teacher and my other daughter's teacher. Their class sizes will be very large. What's going to happen with that? As I said before, we have an agreement, a contract with our teachers, and that contract dictates how many students can be in a classroom.
⚗ AI-reconstructed · cite from original above
Now, the contract does allow for that number, but that's a business agreement between the district and the teachers. The district can't, without any explanation, put more students in than what's stated in the contract. That would be a violation of the contract, and we can't do that, nor do we want to. Excuse me, what happened is that I spoke to the district to tell them what was happening, and they told me they were very sorry, but that's how you had organized the groups. The teacher didn't have much support from either the school or District III, and that is sad, isn't it, because she tried her best, and unfortunately, she didn't have the support of either you or the school. I also contacted the school, and they told me that's what was happening today, and nothing. Okay, well, I apologize, I'm not sure what happened there. If you want to contact me, we can.
⚗ AI-reconstructed · cite from original above
I'm very willing to talk and listen about it. Okay, unfortunately, we only have time for one more question. So please, I ask that you please put your questions in the one that Schatz said, excuse me, in the Kiwi, so I can answer your questions. They explain to me, we want more questions. Time for questions, okay? There's the machine, okay, the propolis word wef and it's depriving in outside organization, it also provides in being a big club with sites of living, believing in you, the sun, the parlacen for the verse and that it blooms again by Kevin Martin, Guerre, this electronic hunger also in flowers, totally show the shooting of direction with mine, it has been just a matter of number one to give, it's the one of Christmas, the apathy, the convergence in the school to give, that has happened to them of vegetable position rules, Jones were of him, it was to sell nothing, to have happen to enter the universe, girl lover Ribéry for various tactics, return and your universe and that has served, we know, waiting for one hour and prior to Wimbledon and Universe Tica and Disney cable off, given play, enter names to the question about what was done right now is number one, what separates an organization like a private or charter school from deciding, look here, an empty property, I want to open something here, nothing, nothing for an organization to want to be able to do that, but we do have quite a few policies and regulations that can accept or prevent something like that.
⚗ AI-reconstructed · cite from original above
The second question is that right now, very true, there is a proposal in the government that we could offer, that we would have to offer, and that to all four-year students, but I want to say that I am very proud of our district because our district has been offering this to all our four-year students for several years now, so we are very proud to be able to do that because the question was if we are considering that maybe if we have this program and for everyone, maybe more students will come, that was considered, but as I said, that is already something we are doing right now and I am very proud that we offer it, we do n't wait for a law, we started offering this a few years ago for our community.

Once again, on behalf of our board of directors We want to thank you so much for joining us tonight and for your questions and comments, which were all wonderful. Thank you so much for that. We look forward to your responses in our survey, which will be coming very soon. We wish you a very good night, thank you for being here today, bye.

remind i will come back around to public comment at the end of the meeting remind me if i forget everyone that's likely um so if anyone wants to comment on anything about that's on our agenda please feel free to email miss gentler during the meeting go ahead mr oliver thank you just a quick question in regards to the public comment at what point is and i am not up to date on the latest uh guidance from desi or the state at what point are we going to open the meetings back up i'm just curious what where we're at with that we can have a conversation about that um we haven't yet um but we can maybe do that under under new business and talk about that at that point yeah thank you um okay um i will turn it over to dr gifford next thank you madam chair and um i'd like to invite chris mishu to um sit here and join us for tonight i want to be too loud as you know he's the director of public health here in dartmouth and we thought it'd be nice to have him come not only to wrap up the year for us and give us some thoughts about how things went but then also offer our thanks to him as well so we thanks for coming and thanks for coming and if anybody has questions about things or whatever please feel free does anybody have any questions mr nunes no i was just going to say orange will look chris kind of give an overview and then we can chime in sure if i may yes you may go right ahead we'll maybe put you on the spot yeah go right ahead i'm sure you're used to it after this year no kidding thank you madam chair members of the school committee dr gifford mr kylie it's been an interesting year and a half i think back to last summer as we were planning out you know the re-entry of schooling and this was while it was a pandemic and it was a very stressful time for all of us i try to focus on the positive and not in terms of transmission um this was a wonderful opportunity i worked for the town now going well into my 25th year and i had the opportunity to work with some tremendous professionals that really um illuminated how dedicated they are to protecting the public the students staff um so you know i can't thank the committee enough for working with the health department through the staff of dr gifford mr kiley the principals the school nurses through planning and going through the school year we oftentimes had to have late night calls holiday calls with principles mr kylie dr gifford um it was a stressful time um unfortunately there were people that would deliver a lot of bad news about having to you know quarantine um which was a stress on them it was very hard on them staff took a lot of stress from that um then we entered the vaccine phase of this and again i was really taken aback by the outpouring of support from dartmouth public schools through the use of the facility to vaccinate the public at large and also by the staff that stepped up and gave up their saturdays and worked at these clinics to help vaccinate the public it was um something that i haven't seen in my lifetime i've done a lot of reading of the town records in response to another obligation of the health department and i aside from world war ii i i have not seen any records since 1900 that even came close to this so it was a very rewarding experience my two concerns right now are one this has been hard on a lot of people there have been a lot of people that have been running the whole school year or in a public health department or maybe first responders or even in the medical field and i've heard oftentimes people have said i feel like my only job is covent and now it all comes to an end um and it leaves it can leave a period of you know confusion um that stress starts to set in so just be aware of everyone um you know don't be afraid to talk about stress because it's real it happens i've seen it in my workforce throughout the commonwealth with people retiring early leaving one of the most esteemed professionals in public health in massachusetts abruptly resigned and that took a lot of us by shock i worry about school personnel public and private um you've been through you've been through war um and you know you didn't have that traditional wind down to the school year you were pushing 100 miles an hour all the way to the end um you know especially with a lot of the mandates that came out and you dartmouth was ahead of that you did it very safely bringing the kids back to school before the governor's mandate um so just be aware of that and this goes for all all school settings for the staff the last thing is um you know we're looking at a school year coming ahead just in a couple months just about 60 days and this is still a frontier as i like to call it we've got a virus that's only about what maybe 19 months known we've got a vaccine that's about seven months with an eua it's all i read a quote this weekend and i said that's about the one quote i'll repeat it's it's easy to let the cat out of the bag than it is to put it back in and i always said during all of this it's easier to be cautious and to let out slack than to realize i've got myself into a mess so i know that dartmouth public schools you did a stellar job keeping the kids keeping the public safe you may have to make some decisions about you know your school year that might be a little more stringent or you may decide to have some protocols and you know we've always talked about those and um we've always been in agreement with taking a higher road but also you know sometimes having to take the courageous road too while implementing those so we're going to wait and see what the summer holds transmission has been very low the last couple weeks i think we had one case the week before in zero cases last week wow that's great so we'll see what the fall holds and um you know with the vaccine on the market now um you know we just hope to see that the vaccine continues to expand for the younger age groups all right well now that you said that we um we really invited you here to recognize you for you talk about um our good work we could not have done it without you and of course the rest of the folks that you work with but um we have a little something for you we thought you should get dartmouth man of the year so we have a little award presented to dartmouth public schools presented to chris misho in recognition of exemplary service collaboration and patience during the 2021 pandemic so we'd like to give this to you thank you we knew no matter what like we said time of the night or whatever the number of meetings you attended we depended on your expertise and i know our entire staff and when we had questions from parents i could always point to you so that was huge well you know we thank you but i must say you know it wasn't possible without all of you um you know the staff you know in my department that made it possible you know maura reimer the public health nurse donna farias um you know it was real you know victoria cameron you know there was i was just there to take the punches you know when the public was angry um but it wouldn't have been possible without all of you so it's a team effort you're welcome thank you very much so much thank you thank you i'll turn it over my committee for comments mr oliver thank you dr jenkins to put it bluntly the dartmouth public schools did i think we did tremendous but a lot of what we did was based on your guidance in your department's guidance and your recommendations so i think it's safe to say that a lot of what we've done couldn't have been done without your expertise and the guidance from your department so i i just have uh one thing to say i really hope that you get an opportunity to take a vacation this summer so thank you chris um you know you were always there anytime that i had a question i know i could always reach out to you you're always there to pick up your phone um you know people from your op from your office i have um several several uh residents in town let me know how pleased they were um with the way you handled yourself and the way that your department handled themselves making phone calls um you know delivering that bad news uh so um just simple thank you at this point for everything that you've done thank you yes thank you thank you uh madam chair yeah chris thank you very much for everything uh i i go back to last summer when we were getting ready to open the schools and we did tours of the uh middle school and walked down to to the quinn school an area with you and your nurse type of deal and you walked through and you know pointed out a few things and you know the the nurse came up with a few suggestions that you know administration had and thought about type of things yeah okay that will work and such i know again i go like chris i called you a couple of times with questions and you got back to me and took care of it and was very much appreciative and you know just thank you and your staff for guiding us through this pandemic time and it is greatly appreciated so again jan as chris said enjoy the summer thank you ms amarillo chris took my my sentiment and hopefully hoping that you get some time or take some time to care for yourself you talk about you know taking the punches um you know i i felt some of that and what i felt i'm sure was not anything compared to what other folks felt in terms of those punches i look forward to a time we were talking on the way in that we can collaborate in other ways i mean over the years with our food clinics thanks to you know your collaboration with the cpac and the resource fair you know um i look forward to to those days and and getting you know scheduling something um to work with you again but after you take some time to really take care of yourself so thank you and your in your staff thank you and i'll uh you know echo what my colleagues have said but you know i'll get back also what uh dr gifford said is that we can you know we could point to you which we were so incredibly grateful for because i know we you know there was a critical meeting when we were talking about you know what our timeline was where we were going to you know close the schools again right before the holidays and we were receiving a lot of slack and you know what's a science based and i think you know bringing you in and you know you could see the conversation that happened whether on you know social media or just you know from parents who are chiming in that when you spoke they really understood it drove it home it really you know made our policies feel that they weren't just simply you know they were something that was really for the the best for the community and for everyone that was involved it was really important to have your voice there and invaluable so i really you know i think it we all like you know took a lot from that and you know i learned i've learned a lot you know through just listening to you about you know where we stood as a community so in so many ways i really appreciate your help and i know we'll probably be leaning again as we consider where we are um in the fall and like you said looking at the status of our youngest learners and you know where they are with the vaccine and you know a lot of unknowns still but we you know i hope you take this time when things are slow to uh to you know get out in the water enjoy enjoy your summer so i'll reiterate my colleagues thanks also say to our viewers right mr michoud's vacation depends on you getting vaccinated seriously people get vaccinated right you know we have a lot of questions we're in a good place right now and i think we're all on the same page that we want to stay in a good place through the summer and into the fall particularly as new variants emerge and you know new information comes out about these variants i can't stress enough right you know get vaccinated right so we can all have a more normal summer and fall and i will also just say um you know we continue we look forward to continuing to work with you i know the question that we received today was about what we're going to do for the fall you know with respect to mass and distance and we don't know yet because we're going to follow the science and we're going to do that in partnership with you and and we appreciate um your guidance in helping us make those decisions as we move forward so thank you very much thank you all right well thanks again for coming and we didn't want to put you on the spot but we appreciate it thank you thank you thank you chris thank you now go enjoy your evening okay so next um on our agenda is the approval of the minutes um from june 7th i will entertain a motion to approve the regular session minutes of june 7th so move second all right so i have a motion by mr nunes a second by ms amaral is there any discussion on the motion hearing none all in favor aye aye opposed so that motion carries unanimously next i will entertain a motion to approve the executive session minutes from june 7th so move madam chair with the stipulation that they be held until the matter for which they were intended is complete second all right so i have a motion by mr nunes a second by ms waite is there any discussion on the motion hearing none all in favor aye aye opposed motion carries unanimously okay so next on our agenda we have um old business the superintendent's evaluation presentation we don't have to do the presentation again you already did that whole part of it um so now is the time for the committee to offer any comments that they would like um suggestions recommendations anything so i will open it up to my colleagues nothing no comments no very well presented yeah i thought so too i will say i think on behalf of the committee i think we appreciate all the work that um you and your staff did over the last year and a half it's been a very difficult year we recognize that not easy decisions not things that i think any of us were prepared for um you know air flows filters all this sort of stuff and so we do appreciate your leadership during um what is hopefully the most difficult year of our careers let's hope we don't top that one right all right without a doubt any other comments questions i just want to say thank you for i feel you know after all the work that you put into kind of getting this all to us i feel sort of bad that we're just ah it's really good but it is there's a lot there is a lot of work that you put into bringing us the work that you've led and that you've done um and it's it's quite detailed and sometimes it's easy to forget what we've done right right the the non-coveted stuff yeah right right i will also say i think it's good too that i didn't find anything to be a surprise right because you are keeping us informed all the time it's a compilation of things that we have learned or that we know over the year and so i think that's also a positive sign right if this was all like stuff we hadn't heard before that might be problematic but um i think we're we're kept up to speed on the good things that are happening in the district and we appreciate that all right thank you sir oliver i think to your point shannon is that just what you said is that because dr gifford has kept us updated in you know central offices that there are nothing came as a surprise and they're there's no questions and there's no concern with what was presented well thank you so and almost a summary well that's just it and if you were to you know there's a lot you could sit here for hours if we really wanted to hash it out and talk about everything but there's no need no use and i think we have in many ways i mean again because this is not a surprise to us so you know we have talked about much of this so we really appreciate it thank you very good okay so if that's all we'll move on to um new business um mr kiley i'm gonna turn it over to you for our discussion of the proposed um food service position great thank you dr jenkins so you have a job description for school nutrition operations supervisor so gene sheridan our director of school nutrition has been talking to me for a couple of years about addressing a need with our food service program this position would provide day-to-day supervision of the cafeteria operation under her guidance jean i will i will say has done an amazing job in her tenure here really has taken our program to the next level changed so much of what we do how we do it and really just improve the quality of food for kids and i really can't say enough about that during the pandemic she you know focused on addressing the food insecurity needs in the community and stepped right up to run what i think was an exemplary effort you know to provide food for for families and we're continuing to do that so you know we're continuing july july 9th there'll be a pickup at dartmouth middle school uh time so we'll continue that throughout the summer [Music] jeanne works part time here so she also works uh in in the cushion of public schools she also has expressed um besides so her working part-time does leave some need for more day-to-day supervision here besides that jean is not going to work indefinitely in this she is outstanding and what she does she loves what she does you know at some point over the next few years and we really wanted to think about succession and how we were going to maintain the high level of of service that we're currently providing the financial condition of the program is an important consideration why why i'm bringing this forward so throughout the pandemic while it's been a horrible time let's face it from a financial perspective from food service we have been eligible for all students to receive free lunch all last year all next year and as a result the program is very healthy we actually have to spend money on something obviously quality of food is one important thing that we will be spending money on but we really need to look at how best to run the operation as part of that so this position would focus on that and provide us some i think a strong foundation for what's to come with the program in the future so i'd be happy to answer any questions you might have school year position plus some extra extra days about 35 hours a week haven't said an exact salary think that that is more dependent upon the qualifications of the individuals applying for the position questions miss wait i just want to say you know i think this is a great position i really you know i hope that my colleagues come forward and support this i think that you know there have been number parents who you know have really wanted to see nutrition become more part you know part of the conversation and i think there have been some exciting things that we've seen even happening with the middle school in their garden and i think and i read here increasing participation you know i the conversation around nutrition you know if we look we know obesity is such an issue we know nutrition is such an issue and it's i'd love to see it you know you know if there's room within this position to really you know talk about the educational piece you know and again as i saw that you know participation that really made that light go on for me because i think you know you have people who are willing certainly from the staff you know who are being creative you know kind of gardening and i love seeing you know working with local farms like again i think all of those are really important you know to educate our students who want that and they're interested in food and they say like even the students who are you know 18 to 24 are you know i mean the young adults are much more progressive when it comes to food than they're you know than older so it's just uh i think it's great so i really think that there's a lot of interest in the community for this i think you know like you said we've done i i cannot say enough for what she's done over the last over this you know to provide food for our students and make sure that you know those kids had meals and including the virtual learners and everything else i think it was just outstanding through all the flex flux that happened you know in the school year but um i'd love to see this person come in so thank you thank you other questions comments mr news yeah thank you madam chu uh you know just kind of follow a little bit of what uh mary talked about but you know thanks to gene for you know the great job she did with the pandemic with uh the meals during you know the time we came out of school last last march all through the summer i mean there was a constant line from that 11 to one at at the quinn school you know picking the meals up and also to the you know the gentlemen that were you know handing them out to the uh to the consumers as they went by because they got to know everybody and you know the little jokes that they would serve i stopped by a couple of times so you know just you know what the little things that they did you know just have extended it out that far so very much in support of this mr oliver thank you dr jenkins yeah let's face this food insecurity is a real thing especially as we found out during the past year and i think the diamond public schools under the direction of sheridan did a wonderful job you know i had the opportunity a couple of times to help out handing out boxes and helping out there and um you could just see um you know how successful it was especially with a lot of the families um with that said i am in full support of this position i think that the uh the food service program has come a long ways under gene's direction um i think it was a an area that needed to be improved upon and um i think she's done just that and i do think that you know a lot of um what she's doing and what this person will continue to do um will go a long ways and and help to grow the program even more but we certainly have a foundation right now and you know i think this we can only improve from there you know for the viewers at home i would just say that this position is self-sustaining self-funded through the uh the food service program the new nutrition program so this would come at no cost to our local budget here in the town of dartmouth i do have one question for you mr kyle in regards to you know we have money that needs to be spent i think it was last year i have i didn't have the opportunity to review the capital improvement plan this evening for tonight's meeting but i know that there were a number of different items at one point under the cip plan so i'm just wondering if we're going to be tackling some of those larger capital expenses uh with some of the money that we have yeah we will be you might be referring to the grease trap uh issue i don't know meeting we just joked about it before the meeting i yeah i mean there are other things and and we we really will be focusing on the grease trap issue with capital improvements money so not so much with uh you know with operational money i was referring to and it might have been on something else that i saw whether it was walk-in coolers different uh serving line items and different things like that definitely improving our physical structure in the cafeterias is a is a goal for us um we i've got to say we have been fortunate that the town has supported us with capital improvement monies through the years to improve things and ovens and coolers and so forth although we had a cooler go down today in the heat but yes we'll be continuing to to utilize funding to support those um i've got to say you know one thing i didn't mention that gene has really focused on has been two seek out grant funding opportunities this position will only give her more time to be able to do that type of work what jean likes to joke and says that she provides the sizzle and it's it's so true like she the things if we can give her more time to do the things that she's capable of and more support on the administrative day-to-day level then she's going to provide some great opportunities for us but yeah we'll be continuing to improve the facility too yeah i look forward to that thank you so i have a couple of um just sort of longer term sort of what's the long-term plan right um i'd like to be optimistic and think that the federal government will continue to provide free lunches for our kids i mean it is the right thing to do so the kids are not food insecure um but what happens if that does not continue where does that put us is my first question i'll let you take a stab at that one first so you know i i think that we need to think about over the next couple of years i think we'll be secure with our operation as it currently stands um i i do think that there will be a point where the feds say okay we can't fund that anymore um and then we'll need to you know we'll need to go back to the old model of charging kids for lunch and uh but you know at that point we'll also have some staffing considerations um sheridan likely you know at some point like i said in the next three years we'll probably retire um although i'd be happy to have her stay for longer and you know this will give us an opportunity for hopefully to provide some continuity if we hire the right person who can really you know work with gene and and uh develop you know advance the program hopefully that person can stay on maybe take more of a role we'll have to you know yeah and so that was yeah that was sort of my next question is the is the plan sort of while we have this window of to hopefully maybe position this person through some training and professional development to maybe be ready to take over that role and then maybe instead of having a half-time director school nutrition and a full-time you might do it a full-time director of school nutrition and then someone doing some part-time sort of business administrative support maybe it's definitely uh you know a major part of this proposal is succession planning for sure so besides the fact that it's going to be awesome and you know provide so many opportunities for the program i i think succession planning is important yeah and i also think i'm a huge proponent of providing professional development to our own employees um and giving them opportunities to advance so if we can bring someone in and provide them with a career path up um you know for a good person i think that would be great so i'm in support of that as well are there other questions mr news yeah just one one quick question is uh is she going to be working out of central office or likely in the school no not in not central office yeah no gene doesn't spend very much time in central office either and i really don't want someone you know running the food service operation in a building that doesn't operate food service right i think it just makes sense to be close to the action so okay no that's fine it's just curious thank you contrary to popular opinion cooking does go on in our cafeteria yes we do cook so it is good to be around for that sort of stuff right all right so do you need a motion on this or creation of a new position so i would seek a uh sequence to entertain a motion to create uh the new position of the school nutrition operations supervisor so moved second all right so i have a motion by mr oliver a second by miss amaral is there any further discussion on this hearing none all in favor aye opposed that motion carries unanimously thank you for your support thank you thank you all right so the next item on our agenda is proposed school committee meeting dates for july through september and i don't did i miss i did not get that attached it is on there it is in there and i just don't have it all right thank you uh doctor i didn't download it yep um so the proposal would be monday july 12th and monday august 23rd for our two summer meetings my phone is like calling things as i'm trying to look at my calendar sorry i didn't want to call 9-1-1 in the middle of our meeting here um those would be uh 5 p.m starts can we is that okay i know i think i'm the only one that it's not okay for madam chair but i um you know could you do 5 30.

i mean it uh i can make it work i can just today okay was so the 12 so that would be july 12th and august 23rd at five o'clock everyone's good with this i actually cannot make the july 12th that is i'll be in uh dc area but okay but i'll be the only if i'm the only one you know what about the 19th does that work for everyone the 19th works for me if that doesn't work for you then we'll just we can just do the tournament yeah okay and actually i would prefer not be on the 12th july 12th you would prefer not the 12th okay so the 12th doesn't work and the 19th doesn't work for you but i do think we need a july meeting we do need a meeting and well we've got it let me back up for a second here we could speak somewhere this is to mr kylie somewhere down the line you're gonna with the fiscal year ending we've got july 15 warrants to be sent into the town have you gotten a date yet from my my plan would have been to likely have them ready for you for the 12th but that's i mean i can get signatures from folks that if that doesn't work that's fine we can if people can just stop by and sign three people i mean i can't do we can't do the 12th i can't do the 13th because it's our diversity committee meeting could anybody do the 14th i'm just away that week that's that's all you know down in yeah that was the week that i'm looking at so you two are both away that whole week and you're away the week after um i don't think we want to meet before the 12th we don't i don't think we need to before the diversity committee that's at like 6 30 right i'm just we could we could no but those two are away the whole week sorry gotcha so you're away the whole week of the 19th dr gifford yes i'm hoping as long as my boat right we're not we're not going to make a good one i mean i suppose we could do it the 26 that's kind of late but if anything comes it'll be a month from now so does that work for everyone july 26th 26th that works yup okay have to have a quick meeting we could do it by zoom if we have somebody have to do another option i guess we'll work what's that this is tricky yes no no so we're going to have to do is he gone is the guy that runs the show that gone the whole that whole week or just that day [Laughter] yeah it's tricky um what if so again again is mr piranha gone that whole week of the 26th or just that monday whole week the whole week all right go ahead mr nance i i think what we've got to look at here okay is uh somewhere down the line scheduling a meeting mr peratti's not here then we go back if we're going to go the week of the 26th and we go back to you know the old-fashioned way where someone from dc tv is here and they tape it to put it on we just won't be live yeah yeah or we can do it the old-fashioned way and be here in person and have dc tv taken we're so flexible yeah why don't we you don't need to do a zoom meeting my personal opinion is if we don't need to do zoom i i will say we can do the 26th we can see if dc tv can do it i do want to continue live streaming right if you look right we've got like maybe only seven people watching now but you know 150 to 200 people are accessing those videos you know um when they're posted and so i do like the ability to tape them that having been said for the 26 we can see if ddc tv can do that one and that one we just won't be able to live stream that's fine there has to be exceptions to the things that we do sometimes so the 26 does that work for everyone okay so we'll do monday july 26th at 5 00 pm okay and then monday august 23rd at 5 00 pm [Music] all right hearing no objections then we move back into our um our regular time 6 30 um where we would do september 13th and we've got september 13th and september 27th i'm thrown off by the public hearing on the budget we're already doing a public hearing on the budget in september okay i didn't think so i think that just got copied i was like yeah you're gonna be ahead of the schedule this year right on it so we would have monday september 13th and monday september 27th the 13th people would like to meet the new teachers yes yeah the only thing i might say is um i feel like potentially we should maybe save one more monday in august just in case um i hope that this is a normal school year but if you know dusty comes out on august 1st and says and you got to have six feet of guidance and double masks and then we're back where we were like i feel like maybe we can just hold like the ninth just in case you'll be away but yes no i'm going through i'm just not sure which week i'm going okay well let's not we won't we won't hold the date but what i will say is let's just be prepared to potentially have another meeting in august because conditions may call for it we may need to meet before the 23rd and if that happens we'll just figure out a date and time that works for everyone okay okay yep so are we good on that yep okay so next we have um authorization to release the executive session minutes from 2015 and 2016.
