so that's the september meeting the october meeting is going to be focused on municipalization um we're going to have presentations by um boulder so we've um had two presentations by ann arbor public power one in february and one in july in july we had a first reading of a proposed resolution from a2p2 um the october meeting we're going to have representatives from boulder which had a failed municipalization effort the legal structure there was one complicating factor we don't have that same structure here but there are other elements in terms that are common in terms of um utility uh let's say resistance to the to the effort and what what the utilities did and um you know what they they looked at in terms of what other communities did so we hope to learn from them and then we're going to have representatives from winter park florida a smaller city 30 000 people so boulder just for comparison is 330 000 so it's two and a half times the size of ann arbor um the other city is smaller but it's significant because it's one of the few um successful municipalization efforts in the last decade and so we're going to have them also present at the meeting um with the idea that that will hopefully better inform the commission and the community at large as to the pros and cons related to municipalization since i have two council members that are here um i would urge that council not force the energy commission to vote on the feasibility study that is proposed by a2p2 in september in light of the october meeting which has been scheduled i understand that there's a sense of urgency but this is really a momentous decision the feasibility study will cost 120 000 roughly alone and that has to come from somewhere it's going to come from the reserve it's going to come from something else in the osi or in the city budget and so there is a let's call it an opportunity cost related to that and you know one of the things we have to understand is does that opportunity cost have any benefit in terms of the feasibility study leading to something that's going to be a tangible positive outcome for ann arbor or just lead us into a dead end because dte is gonna do everything they possibly can to um obstruct this um so there is um yeah um so we're gonna um and i from what i understand um there's gonna be some discussion at the council meeting about imposing a later date on the energy commission to take action on this possibly november or december i think personally that makes a lot more sense and then if the idea is is that we should pursue a feasibility study and i think there's a lot of arguments for doing that um then in my view it would make sense that council also um sets a timetable for when that rfp should go out when it should be processed when um the result should be in so that we act on this quickly because again you know this is important as far as the overall 820 plan so those are the two things really that the energy commission is focused on here in the coming next two months and i'm happy to take questions or comments john uh lisa you have your hand up and then kathy what's the date of that meeting john in october uh the october is on 10th or 14th i think it is i can't remember it's in it's in legistar um it's the second tuesday it's the second tuesday okay we meet at six o'clock and we can i mean i can just attend like a member oh absolutely yeah tuesday it's october 12th is the second tuesday okay yeah i have planning commission but maybe something can work out yeah okay kathy i just want to say that um i hope we can work in a cl a collaborative map way and i've struggled both as a council member and previously as a commissioner between when do you want the agenda to be driven by the commission and when do you want the agenda to be driven by council back to the commission and you always have to be aware of the cost in terms of staff resources so so it sounds like we've got a path that's that's going to work for for everyone and and minimize extra effort so thank you awesome okay thanks kathy um so let's see um so uh council is the next item on the agenda is council report i can't think of anything lisa yeah it's been so long since we had yeah sure okay i'm sorry i should have prepared yeah that's all right no chair uh i don't have anything to report either that i haven't said already so um um report from staff calen you're muted i've already uh reported it but um i just want to say again that uh we'll be kicking off our second cohort 820 ambassadors on september 15th we have about 20 uh residents involved right now and uh they'll be having orientation and greet that's going to be on september 13th at the farmers market and then also on uh september 23rd we'll be over at u of m participating in uh earth fest so we'll uh be over there table in a few of us okay all right thank you gatlin um so um items for next agenda the only one i remember off the top of my head is uh bob needham was inviting the um the huron valley humane society to talk about their their opinion about the deer call and uh we'll have a resolution that i'm sure we'll have other things on the agenda item but what i'm going to do is uh i'll circulate emails about that later okay so we can talk about what might be on the agenda there a lot of it's going to involve what staff time is available but we could talk about uh phosphorus or we could talk about pcos then so uh but i don't have a commitment yet from staff about what they can if they can attend we'll have the zero waste resolution and white paper that night too okay uh rita um so for me um i will do my best to bring back um chapter 40 for next time um and i do um just want to um make a comment to john is that i i i have been um following and been involved with the municipalization effort and i hope that you and the energy commission can see it as a point of ex of concern for the urgency of the climate crisis in terms of of the request that's been made of the energy commission that's really i think what's behind it um everybody's really concerned and we'd like to move forward um in a positive way i i think um yeah i don't want to speak for the commission and i haven't frankly made up my mind but um i think there is value added likely in in a feasibility study my sense is is that that if we do a feasibility study we should recognize that there's lots of different forms of municipalization there's lots of energy assets that a municipal utility can hold own everything from dte's grid assets to things like virtual assets like aggregating um demand response to even doing things like having um geothermal districts or wastewater districts and so i think if we do a feasibility analysis we should look at what the various options are what their pros and cons are with their um including costs and benefits and things like that and you know frankly i think also um you know we we want to apply public pressure to dte and you know anything that we're doing along these lines also applies pressure to dte because i don't think any of us are satisfied with what dte is doing um so there's points well taken i i totally agree with that and and i believe that a feasibility study would bring out those multitude of issues that you talked at least i would hope it would because that's the best way for us to go forward indeed okay kathy you have your hand up i just want to correct this statement i made previously that dana nessel is interested in attending a meeting regarding phosphorus well i would hire me with that yeah thanks kevin yeah and i i said pfas it didn't sound right when i said it but i didn't correct myself no no i i knew you meant phosphorus okay it's it's due to the air pollution that was recent that was recently done so i can remember that recent enough okay all right well thank you and um let's see so uh that looks like perhaps a full agenda already but uh i'll circulate ideas i like to have these um set up by topic and i like to do them like three months in advance so i'm gonna start circulating emails on all of us to uh get input early on before the meetings and the other thing is we're going to try i'm going to i'm going to try to enforce getting the agenda in place and everything the special presentations and everything a week before the scheduled meeting a whole week before the scheduled meeting because uh it's been just a nightmare lately and i think it's also going to be important in terms of you know in terms of other logistics about organizing meetings so well i'll send an email to everybody later about that um so i'd like everybody to be involved in setting the agenda and reviewing it but i'd like to have a deadline of a whole week before we to get it finally in place and post it up on registrar so um items uh so the next so the next item on the agenda is the next scheduled meeting which is september 23rd at 7 00 p.m that's the fourth thursday of the month uh so now we get to the second public commentary period uh this is an opportunity for persons to speak for up to three minutes please call 888-788-0099-4877-853-5247 and enter meeting id eight 940-0438-4 four two six this information is also displayed on the meeting agenda and video feed city staff will select callers that have raised their hand one by one using the last three digits of your phone number in order to electronically raise your hand to indicate your desire to speak please press star 9 on your phone you will hear an automated announcement that the host is allowing you to speak when speaking please move to a quiet area and mute any television or background sound so we may hear you clearly please take your name and address at the beginning of your comments and be patient there can be a delay of up to 30 seconds before a connection is established is there anybody on the line yet nope there's no one for comments okay so the meantime i'd like to thank everybody for being part of this working session i think it's it's good to have one of these at least once once once a year so that we can talk about general directions and strategy and processes and procedures um so um and i'm always eager for feedback positive or negative as long as it's constructive so um is there anybody on the line as yet nope okay well thank you galen and thanks everybody for your time and attention now see you all next month bye now i call this meeting adjourned at 9 17 p.m thank you bye-bye thanks everyone you

good evening ladies and gentlemen and welcome to the official start of the 2021 football season facebook at the spring season already this year we're going into the fall season week one here the plumbing eagles and the indians like to thank everybody and for tuning in to the aces wild pregame show here in columbia alex swimmer and jared germain with you once again for i believe our third season fourth season together jared third welcome back it's been 125 days since we last were together what you've been doing in the last couple months man i've been waiting for fall football that's what i've been doing um i'm just i'm ready for this year um it's going to be a big year for a lot of new guys we're going to see a lot of new faces this year so um a lot of guys are gonna have to step up so that's what i've been waiting for so you've been waiting for fall football and i think we're gonna have to wait a couple more weeks yeah it's a toasty one out here can't see our faces already i mean sweating yeah not the fall field that you're used to feeling but you know that spring season though it kind of had that little bit of a feel of a fall just with the cooler temperatures but you know i'll tell everybody now we're going to complain because it's hot right now give us what six seven weeks we'll be crying up on top of a press box saying that we're so cold and we can't feel our hands oh i know so nothing's really changed in the two of us over the years no it hasn't so this year coming in uh coming off the 5-1 season that we had last year we lost 16 starters but i talked to coach horner last night and holton made holton meets coach's corner and uh there's no real no we're not changing anything we had a good season last year we're expected to have a good season this year losing those 16 seniors though that's going to be big big spots to fill oh most definitely and one of those guys that you're going to have to you're probably never going to be able to replace as a guy like london little coming off of what uh 16 or 15 touchdowns something like that last year um just putting up crazy amount of numbers it's going to be tough to fill his shoes but i'm sure a lot of these guys are going to be able to step up not too many guys score a touchdown rushing passing throw or receiving kickoff kick return kicking an extra point the guy did it all but uh kind of like in moneyball they say you can't just replace that guy with one guy you're gonna have to three or four guys with three or four guys exactly like coach warner said last night we got the guys that are going to be able to do it this year but besides london you lose three offensive linemen that were starters last year the big one and you can't get anything going without the snap of the ball so you're losing kyle jackson as a center you pick up grant matheny he started a couple times last year so grant's going to step in be that starting center you lose colin mclaren who is a quarterback but also a linebacker you don't see that too and he'll light you up too he lights you up so he's going to be both ways andrew maulding wide receiver and defensive back i think had five interceptions with meyer also our kicker kicker yeah you didn't worry about the ball not getting 10 yards close to the end zone somewhere in the end zone and getting seven points for sure every time you score a touchdown because some of these schools around here that you play i mean they don't even have a kicker so it's nice for coach kendall and a lot of these coaches to have a kicker every year but i asked coach germain earlier because i didn't even know who our kicker was going to be this year and he said it was dom vaguely so we probably won't see him come off the come off the field very much this season so still on the guys from lazarus the season from last year you got don vagley coming back he is your starting quarterback last year he split time with colin the starter this year the junior comes in last year he had eight total touchdowns six of which were passing 35 of 50 70 completion that's not bad 418 yards the big thing one interception taking care of the football name of the game then you flip them over to defense i think it was 12 or no it was like 20 something tackles i believe for him and a couple picks same way this year you're going to have mcconaughey last year he was running back average four yards a carry this year he's moving out to wide receiver and elijah jarvis not the biggest kid runs downhill pretty hard though he'll be in the backfield with dom vaguely oh yeah most definitely and like i said earlier you're going to have eight guys that are going to be playing both ways so and that's going to say they're going to get a little tired more they might get a little more gassed but i got a lot of faith in these guys and i'm hoping that they can push push through defensive side of the ball you got owen brewer coming back and jay mistler same way those two guys brewer on the line big kid strong kid quiet kid you never expect him but all of a sudden he gets that main side in him and he's going to be anchoring down the uh the defensive line you got jay missler as your inside linebacker too and uh talked to coach horner last night and talked to coach germaine too the linemen don't always get the credit they're the ones that are slanting in out whatever it may be your linebackers are really the ones that are gonna have to make the tackles yeah most definitely coach tremaine's been expressing that for 20 years the amount of years he's been here um it all starts up front it all starts with controlling the line of scrimmage and um these big guys are going to have to show that tonight we talked to coach germain tonight went down for the pre-game talk he's in his 24th season coaching 21st at columbia and he had this to say about the season ahead of down here with coach germain for the pre-game talk tonight coach 24 years you've been coaching 21st season that you've been the defensive coordinator in columbia you still get those same butterflies you got 24 years ago tonight absolutely alex it was like christmas eve last night even though we had a late practice got home about 9 30 didn't go to bed till about one just excited like christmas eve getting ready for the game excited to see a lot of these young kids get the opportunity to play not only because they're seniors but they didn't get a lot of experience a lot of playing time last year but excited to see these guys play tonight so what's their feel like you said not a lot of these guys got to play a lot in previous years you only had the six games last years i'm sure that they probably have those same butterflies what's their attitude and their mentality in the locker room today they're excited i mean think about it we finished football season four months ago and these same kids were going against our number ones last year so it's not like they haven't been battle tested they were battle tested every day during practice so they're ready for their opportunity to shine and we're looking forward to watching them play mosquito we've heard a lot about their offense they got a pretty big quarterback they got a couple of good skill players as well so that's going to make your job tonight a little bit tougher what's your keys what are you expecting your guys to do and how are we going to shut down this indians offense we're pretty seasoned we're pretty uh you know we've got some veterans up front in the secondary with dom in secondary running secondary and our down guys are been battle tested so our linebackers are gonna have to show up ready to play tonight and uh i know they're itching at the you know they're ready to rock and roll so we'll see what happens well good luck just heard coach coach baker say it's eagle football time better get after it we'll see you next time wasn't ready for that belly tap there at the end of it there but you know we talked about the butterflies jared i mean you're going to get them 24 years he still gets them and if you don't get them you don't need to be out here anymore i don't care if it's just a week one game and yeah we're up here in the press box and i'll tell you i'll be honest i get them every time we're up here too so uh feeling the locker room too those guys are ready to go they're coming off a quick quick offseason oh yeah and they're coming back now you got to get going you got your uh we got 10 seniors guys been playing football their entire lives some of them so they got nine more games hopefully more than that so those 10 those 10 seniors nine juniors got to make a name for them here pretty quick and some of those guys are going to be playing their first varsity snaps first varsity starts that they've ever played before tonight so once they get that out of the way and hopefully throughout the season they can adapt and they can show us show us columbia football well we're about 15 minutes away from kickoff here we're gonna head to a break and we will be back with the aces wild pregame show after this welcome back to columbia high school in the multi-purpose field here with the aces wild pregame show alex schlemmer and jared germain with you uh let's talk about this year's team this year's roster these guys that we have coming this year um i think the big one at the top of the list number two and carter hicks he was a guy went over to st louis moved his way back over to home grew up here in columbia saw his buddies playing over here he's coming back he is the junior 6'5 210 tight end defensive end and that's going to be a pretty good target for don vagley and defensive side of the ball it's a pretty big guy to have on the side too yeah you know coach germain he likes having those tall lanky guys on the end or he can put him back at linebacker also so he can work around with him a little bit which will be nice for the defense sticking on that offensive side of the football you've got drew meganson kyle mcconaughey jay missler all coming in as the wide receivers four new receivers than last year um the one jay mistler he was a wide receiver last year he was more of a sniffer back position so it'll be interesting to see if we see him inside or outside like we said the backfield eliza jarvis dominic vaguely and then you go into the the big uglies the guys in the trenches average size six to 230 and tom kenningstein 6-2 295 jason kaczynski 510 195 grant matheny having the snaps at center owen brewer and mason schnabel on that right side of the line good size and uh got three seniors and two juniors so got a lot of experience up front yeah and i think something that coach hoyner likes is having the ability to have a guy like don vagley and a lot of quarterbacks in the past that have like we've adapted to running quarterbacks and don vagely is a guy that he can use his feet he not only can use his arm but he can use his feet and i think that's really important for a columbia offense and if these big uglies up front can just give them a little lane and we'll take it to the house so now let's flip over decent to the side of the ball three returners last year and you got a bunch of guys that are just making their first starts like you said it might be their first meaningful snap not coming in at the later half of the game but got elijah jarvis drew meginson at corners dominic vaguely kyle mcconaughey adds your safeties defensive backs the guys who are going to make all the tackles all your linebackers brennan week colin saigon brandon jackson jay mistler who we talked about earlier going to be the linebackers and your three down guys at jason kaczynski carter hicks and owen brewer those three guys will be down in the trenches as well and like you've talked about you're probably going to talk about coach hunter is going to talk about got to control the trenches and it all starts with the big uglies and then you hope your linebackers are there defensive backs you hope you don't have to make a tackle but sometimes they do yeah most definitely and over the years you've seen safety's making the most tackles on our team you've seen guys like sam horner or greg long or mitch daniels over the past couple years you've seen a lot of safeties leading our team in tackles so let's see a change let's see linebacker d lineman lead the team in tackles for a year that's what i want that's what i want to see this year from the columbia defense well we talked tonight we talked to uh dominic vaguely before the game and uh the junior had this to say about the season and the week one matchup with the muscuto indians oh well we don't have a lot of returning starters and a lot of varsity experience as we did in the previous years and uh so we pretty much just trying them in trying to be getting in shape and getting everybody ready learning the playbook and everything i'm just excited ready to play want to hit somebody again there's some more touchdowns run for some more touchdowns ready to play again i think it's great just the normal football weather again and getting to play the full schedule and seeing a lot more teams and getting to play more of the regular teams that we play every year oh week one with scoota they got a they got a new coach and everything and uh just looking to see what they come out in yeah we got we know that they got a they got a couple of pretty good guys that we got a key in on the quarterback running back and a couple wide receivers seven minutes till kickoff now let's talk about the game that we have at hand here the record for the uh mosquito indians and colombia all time tuned to mosquitoes started the series oh and or 2-0 rather colombia lost the first two matchups the one was back in 07 kept us from going undefeated that was here we ended up going to state that was a week nine match up but columbia that's scooter correct columbia's in their 50th season overall and they are 285 193 and four not a bad record to have comes into the season columbia 628 students moscuda 1100 students and they are the largest school that will play a cahokia conference team like i said two and two series with two teams columbia comes in they're on a nine game winning streak at home and uh coach horner is 15 and five in his home or in his season openers rather so coach horner 21 years as a head coach they've been around as long as you've been around yeah i'm kidding coach warner 21st season 146 and 60 96 and 20 in the cochia conference he is the longest tenured coacher coach the winningest coach number two is jerry germain he's made the playoffs 16 of 19 seasons 11 conference championships nine of which have been undefeated so pretty impressive pretty impressive uh pretty impressive all the way around so looking tonight band is on the field we have a new band director we'll talk about him later craig turski retired after last season and uh we're expecting this to be just as good the place is starting to fill up and uh brings us to our next point the coach's keys number one control the line of scrimmage yeah that's always that's always the biggest thing i mean any football coach knows that it wins up front and you got to win it in the trenches so that's that's where it starts keep it clean get after it keep it clean these first round games you're going to have the j or these first week games you're going to have the jitters you're trying not to make the mistakes give yourself a chance to win and get after it you've been working all off season you don't have anything to lose at this point yeah i'm just hoping for uh we got enough water down there tonight because it's still a little warm out here but i think i think james and all the all the trainers will have them ready well as you see the players coming down onto the field they got the bells cranking right now what's your prediction for tonight's game i think i'm going to take the eagles uh 27-21 i think uh don vagel is going to come out like he did last year and he's going to show the columbia fans a lot of a lot of things he can do run the ball and throw it so i'm looking for big things from don bagley tonight i'm gonna go 20 to 14 i think might be on that little bit of that uglier side so i don't know if we're going to put up as many points as expected i think coach germain's always going to be ready to rock and roll though so hey ben don't break right and don't break exactly we will let the band take the players out onto the field [Music] we will be back right after this welcome back ladies and gentlemen to the columbia multi-purpose field for week one action between the columbia eagles and the muscuda indians cauchya conference versus the mvc i believe correct i think so yeah pa announcer ralph stone is going to be his last year last year but he came back this year so he just went through the opening lineups and we are going to be sending it to the new columbia marching eagle band director christian avis rouse with the national anthem and we are one minute 40 seconds away from kick-off [Music] and cadet airman casey [Music] so [Music] [Applause] what time you got jared it's eagle football town i'm waiting to say that in true columbia fashion columbia football players waiting to for the colors to come off the field before they break that's one thing that not too many other teams too i don't know if any other team does it we've mentioned that many times before i missed the kickoff or the i'm sorry the coin toss rather looking though look at that did you get it no i did not have my keys though we'll get your keys after the after the kickoff looks like we're going to be receiving though i don't see anybody coming out with a kicking block so it's always big you get the football right away get the jitters out and get to get those first couple plays in matt down there at the 50-yard line he told me this year his responsibilities make sure the football gets to where it's got to go so hasn't been like that for the past 20 years the other day he was talking about how he's not worried about getting the pats anymore he's got to worry about getting that ball to the official after toweled up too he's got he had a towel around his neck and he just set one down on the bench so he's ready to go grip's ready to rock and roll coaching staff's ready to rock and roll we've got some familiar faces down on the sideline looks like a couple uh looks like adam willmeyer and london little down there familiar faces and a look over on the other side looks like ronnie oh my god so always neat the tradition coming back but enough talk time to play football the scooter will be kicking off we have number 21 kyle mcconaughey back deep and i missed the other number but kyle mcconaughey that's somebody you want the ball in their hands as good as the game going to be a short kick and it will be recovered by mcconaughey he's going to try to get up to the middle of the field going to try to reverse the field and he's going to maybe lose a couple yards and columbia will take over at their own 21-yard line what do you have for your keys of the game tonight jared so as we've talked about when winning the line of scrimmage is the biggest thing to any football team so it's always got to start up front secondly i think all players need to be ready to play it's a hot night some of these guys haven't even done their first snap of varsity football before so next guy got to step up and then finally contain these mosquito athletes that they got they've had a bunch of athletes over the past couple years and just got to contain them coming to come out in the trip set ball in the left hash gonna be a pass play going to be a quick snag right to mistler who might have heard the uh defender coming and he dropped the ball his catchable ball would have been about a five six yard gain but instead falls incomplete coach warner coming out gunning right away that was called them ed reed footsteps right there hear them footsteps and man drop the ball brings up a second ten you got missler meganson on the right side mcconaughey out there and you got jarvis as a running back a little bit of a slow snap roll out to the right side is vaguely he finds a person and it's nearly intercepted not sure what he was seeing there he was pretty much covered with mistler but now it brings up a third down and ten you've only had the ball for 18 seconds good defense there and good protection by the uh defensive backs on moscuta stay in on a rolling route you never know if you want to run with the quarterback or if you want to stay with the your wide receiver that you're guarding so great job by the defensive backs to stay put gonna go trips right bunch ball in the left hash running back on the left hash single receiver to the left side bangley's going to look to pass again they bring the heat there's forward offensive lineman turning around looking at their quarterback leads to a sack and a quick three and out for the eagles offense [Applause] you saw the whole line kind of cave in there looked like was it gonna be a design run with vaguely i couldn't really tell but um went right up the middle and had nowhere to go loss of about two or three the scooter traveled very well tonight looking over at that mosquito sideline and they're playing pretty up and quick right now to start this game [Applause] low snap gets the kick off it is vaguely and it's a fantastic punt hits at the 38 runs down the sidelines still running down the sideline wow and it's going to get all the way down to the 18.

opportunity um this year columbus east football coach ed vogel it's his very first year as head coach after taking over for long time olympians coach bob gaddis and even though there's been at least 30 seniors that graduated last year i know coach vogel has been working hard to get his olympians ready for this year on the other side veteran coach tim bless of columbus north graduated some great seniors but still has his quarterback luke heymans at the helm give you a few previews of some of the key match-ups here tonight between the olympians and the bulldogs i got to talk with some of the assistant coaches on both sides and and some of the names that they gave me to look at for sure tonight are keegan castetter at wide receiver luke hayman's quarterback jackson scruggs who's playing on both sides of the ball but specifically we want to look at him at safety on defense let's see as we go down the list we've also got bryant trinkle was a name that i've heard that's uh moving around on the defensive side of the ball dylan redman running back for the bulldogs max mormino who scored his very first varsity touchdown last week [Applause] cooperhorn who's a junior playing football again for the bulldogs those are the few of the names that i've heard so far and i know on the defensive side savion banks that's a name that you'll be hearing a lot throughout the night excuse me throughout the day and on the columbus east side we've got trice villarreal who will be starting at running back trice had a quite a few great games last year working in and out with mark mcdonald new quarterback starting for the olympians ethan duncan and as we go down the list looking at different numbers chase harrison on the defensive side has been known to make some big hits and forgive me as i look through this different list i'm going to go ahead and reach out to a lifeline here with our one of our columbus east assistants coach who are some of the columbus east olympians we can look forward to seeing today i mentioned duncan at quarterback and villarreal at running back who are some of the other names rocco duffy is somebody you want to pay attention to tonight today laird stidham sophomore jacob crews jacob goose elijah tungate i appreciate that coach i've heard uh josh ludicky as well somebody you want to pay attention to and i'm sure announcer dennis pierce will be highlighting those individuals throughout the game making the big plays on the offensive end defensive side of the ball i want to thank everyone for tuning in this morning here on the bcsc sports live stream make sure to subscribe to the bcsc youtube channel for different athletic contests live streams we're going to do everything we can to definitely live stream the columbus north columbus east matches when possible you know for instance cross countries a hard one to live stream as well as tennis with all the different matches going on but so far we've really enjoyed live streaming we had the soccer match earlier this week the jv and varsity girls soccer matchup and then we got in the jv um most of the jv northeast boys soccer game and we'll be live streaming that as well later tonight the varsity and i want to say a special shout out to bulldog news network today we've got michelle here on the video and the other night michelle and emily were helping us with the live stream and definitely just want to say thank you to columbus north bulldog news network teacher rachel mcarver for helping us out with giving these students an opportunity no we're gonna we're gonna announce her name because she's gonna do a great job and uh just you know i think that's one of the cool things about bcsc is we like to give our students opportunities to experience things like live streaming or you know bulldog news network they do a weekly show correct they do a weekly show and i got to watch that had some news packages on the different rivalry weeks so if you'd like to see some of those match-ups like the cross country as well as tennis that we weren't able to live stream i know the bulldog news network did a great job of covering those events and so if you search on youtube bulldogs news network you'll be able to find their weekly news shows it's a beautiful morning here at stafford field and we can see on this side of the field looking out from the visitor's side then the press box over to the columbus east olympians it's always interesting to see what the student section is going to be dressed up in and it looks like east has some maybe some construction gear construction and pool day and north is pool day we've seen hawaiian shirts we've seen um i don't know the best way to put it they were wearing like jean shorts and um yeah tropical oh there's some rubber ducky rubber ducky pool accessories down there but the other night at the soccer matchup what was the hawaiian and then pink out it's always interesting to see what the students come up with i know as a former bcsc student the northeast games were always fun to get out and support the student athletes and you know with that being said i just want to acknowledge um you know it was tough i talked with some of the people that were in charge of making decisions and rescheduling from last night to this morning we had several students that are taking the sat that unfortunately are not able to come here or unfortunately not able to take the sat and and i know that families made the best choice for them covet 19 this time has just been tough you know students haven't had all of the same opportunities to experience you know what traditional northeast matchups can look like and you know i hate that i hate that for our students certainly no one's fault and you know as i'm sure you who are watching and listening to this broadcast know it's just been tough and i know that we've been doing everything we can as students and staff to give our students every opportunity to have those experiences both in the classroom as well as on days like today with the northeast match-up and you know one of the things that i'm sure you've realized not just through covid but in life is that nothing is promised and the only thing that we are in control of is our response to the ups and downs and unpredictable things in life and so certainly proud of the students and our families for you know they're trying to do the best that they can and so as we live stream this columbus north columbus east football game i realized that you know some might not be able to be in person today and and i hope that through this live stream you'll get to watch the game i know that's not the same as being in person but i hope that you'll enjoy this live stream offered by bcsc and and and provided by one of our students today so special thanks to our students for getting involved and and being a part of this live stream we're gonna go ahead and take a quick break dennis pierce announcer will come on in just a few moments thanks for tuning in to the bcsc youtube channel the columbus north columbus east football game here on saturday morning at stafford field [Music] and turned in by tuesday september 7th we'll pick those up at columbus east on september closed 21st nine dollars each or three for 25 once again quarterback club thank you thank you what's up [Applause] hey [Applause] uh [Applause] good morning ladies and gentlemen and welcome to stafford field here on the campus of high school football season game between the olympians of columbus east and the visiting bulldogs north high school [Applause] and now ladies and gentlemen at this [Music] let us honor and respect their efforts in our country by gentlemen removing their past and everyone standing in attention placing their hands over their hearts as we proudly play our national income [Music] [Applause] thank you [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] dawson adams [Applause] [Music] [Applause] connor easy [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] matthew [Applause] uh [Music] ethan duncan olympians if i can direct your attention to this emoji bread [Applause] thank you and they choose so columbus north will receive the kickoff here comes east won the toss but chose to defer and we're getting ready for an exciting crosstown confrontation between the columbus north bulldogs and columbus east olympians [Applause] [Music] [Applause] shout out to our cheerleaders on both squads olympians and bulldogs doing a great job of getting the crowd ready for an exciting matchup [Music] number 80 nathaniel hedrick will kick off [Music] uh nathaniel hedrick back for the kickoff keegan cassetter back to receive for the bulldogs as well as jackson scruggs and we're off kickoff received by scruggs cuts it to the left cuts back to the right oh he's still free and he's running and finally taken down by the olympians great run for scruggs tackled by a host of olympians for the bulldogs luke hammonds will come out and lead the visiting columbus north bulldogs 21 dylan redmond in the backfield motion left haemons gets it hands it off and redman runs it up the gut [Applause] harrison with a tackle yep as we just heard um about five yards there on the first run of the game hammond's in the shotgun wide receivers on both sides pass to the right and the olympians were ready for that quick toss to the right side looks like a loss of one that'll bring up third and six haman's in the shotgun three to the left side heymans takes it up and to the right he's running and he's got a first down [Applause] quarterback keeper for hammonds chase harrison you're definitely going to hear that name a lot for the olympians making another tackle [Applause] good first run first down run by hammonds four receiver set for the bulldogs cast editor motions to the left hammonds fakes it and takes it off again but this time met with some resistance from the olympians from what i've heard from a few of the coaches on both sides is we're going to see a a healthy dose of running today mixed in with some potentially some run pass options or some quick tosses to the outside as we've seen already motion coming across to the left hammonds hands it off to redmond good run to the left runs into the referee though but keeps going and he's got a first down [Applause] i wonder what would have happened if redmond didn't run into the referee i think he had some breathing room there but he ended up using the referee as sort of a [Applause] ping pong to the left shout out to everyone watching this live stream we've got over different devices watching right now hammond's back oh and mrs cass that are coming across the middle just a little bit behind him looked like there was an opportunity but it's early cass center had a big season last year for the bulldogs and he's definitely not afraid to mix it up in the middle as we just saw not afraid of contact but he can also go deep haman's second and ten redmond in the backfield motion right hands it off to redmond to the left side [Applause] third down and three for columbus north we'll see what the dogs choose to do whether haman's keeps it again or hands it off to redmond potentially something on the right side hands it off to redmond oh he's met in the backfield by the olympians that'll bring up fourth down jamal starks with the tackle fourth and five for the bulldogs bulldogs still getting to play it looks like they're going for it kind of in that area when it's it's a long field goal and you might as well go for it it looks like bless has been known to be aggressive and here we go oh hi snap oh no hammonds keeps it and he's tackled in the backfield that'll be a turnover on downs for the bulldogs unfortunate high snap there that took the momentum really made it hard for hammonds to do anything with it there and the olympians come out ethan duncan this is his first columbus north columbus east game [Applause] villarreal in the background oh they go deep on the very first play oh did he come down with it oh my goodness [Applause] i think that was number 86 logan christopher with a deep ball wow and the olympians come out with an aggressive play deep ball down the left side and they are in bulldog territory close to the red zone duncan takes a snap hands it off to villarreal but he's met by a pack of dogs and a short gain if anything trice villarreal is great running back for the olympians was used quite a bit last year with another successful running back mark mcdonald but with mcdonald graduating villarreal will definitely get the majority of the runs this year oh i thought that was going to be a some type of false start or can't shift two at the same time and that'll be a false start for the olympians and unfortunate because they just had a great deep play you know a short short game then and now a penalty second and 14.

this evening i'd like to welcome you all here nice to see you on that one here at center road we have a mission statement and it reads as follows we develop knowledgeable competent and responsible citizens through inspirational and innovative learning opportunities and tonight before we do the pledge i would like to turn it over to uh dr arkanov who is a veteran we'd like to say something thank you mr russell um i would ask if you wouldn't mind if everyone would take a moment if we could stand and just take a moment of silence for the tragedy now today we lost 11 marines and one maybe four men so if we can take a moment assignments i would appreciate it thank you thank you we'll now say please i pledge allegiance to the flag of the united states of america and to the republic for which it stands one nation under god indivisible with liberty and justice [Music] as you notice we're looking around the room you can see where the tvs are so hopefully wherever you're sitting you're going to see uh as we put things up to the extreme might not be where you can see it so our next order of business is the adoption of the agenda mr president i move we adopt the agenda as presented thank you mr alexander do i have a sentence follow some favors behind all right all those opposed motion passes 5-0 thank you thank you our next order of business is public comments regarding agenda absolutely mr president of the procedural order tonight i'd like i i move that we extend the time allotted for public comments from 15 minutes to 30 minutes for the tv's meeting thank you mr alexander do i have any i'll say i'll say mr cover all those in favor say aye aye close the code motion passes by though thank you our advantage is the action items but there are no i'm sorry public comments thank you uh mr russell we'll say they're doing a little different time yeah before we start um we'd just like to uh remind everyone this evening and we thank everyone for being here and really appreciate the calm and quiet demeanor that we have it's why i love center grove we're responsible citizens just like we have our mission statement so thank you all very much for being here um this evening we're asking that we have decorum it's going to be an opportunity for folks to stand up and speak we are live streaming it so it is hard to hear so if there is clapping or cheering or noise from the crowd it will be hard for people online to hear so we're asking that folks please refrain from doing that those that get up and speak tonight there are a few guidelines you can see them on the screen here you know the whole idea of this public input is to provide input about the plan and about the presentation so we ask that it's not personal that's not directed at anyone that is employed by the district or any other board members if there are comments they all should be directed to the board president for the policy so we just asked for that decorum during the public speaking portion of of our evening without reading too much to you as i assume everyone can see this and understand if for some reason uh we lose control of the meaning we'll recess and we'll uh and more and meet uh so i appreciate everyone uh understanding that and knowing taking responsibility for yourselves as we go through this public comments this evening we have tried to organize it what we believe was in support or in opposition of the proposed plan some of you may have been able to watch the coffee chat yesterday morning where we presented the plan so hopefully you you felt that you were able to understand it and could address it tonight with some of your concerns we have received over a couple of hundred emails some folks three or four times so thanks for those emails i'm not done responding so i apologize um i do have an another job too besides answering emails but we're going through them we have read 99 of them they may have read all of them i've not through them all yet so i was beginning a meeting and we're continuing to read them we have had some parent meetings as well we've met with parents who've taken time out of their day to meet with myself mr russell and members of my team so we also appreciate that folks taking their time to do that this last couple of weeks as i said uh on the document tonight where you signed up we had asked for you to put in your first and last name your street address and then to check the box a lot of times people ask me why is that well first and foremost it's important to the board to hear from people who live in the community people that have kids in the district first you may may or may not be aware but there are people who travel around that have nothing else to do but to sign up for school board meetings that have nothing to do with the district and they get paid to do it and this is one way that we look to try and prevent that from happening fortunately we've got a good community that we know most everybody so it's pretty rare that we might have a stranger get up and speak so that's one reason why we do it secondly we just want to ensure that we hear from folks that have kids in the school so so tonight uh we have gone through the list and what we've done is just went by first come first served and we are going back and forth between the green and the red and hopefully that represents and you understood that represented what you wanted to address today if for some reason we don't get to you this evening please please please feel free to email us if you haven't already if you have you don't have but if you have have not please feel free to email us so that we can get your comments i also like to remind folks every chance i get a school board meeting is not a public school board meeting is a meeting needing help in public the purpose of the major purpose of the meeting and the public being held in public is for you to observe the business of the school the board allows for public comment it's it's an option school boards have they don't always have to do it our school board has done that for many many years and so while they would love to sit here all night long and hear from hundreds of people on tour um you know we want to be respectful have a certain amount of time this evening and get the get folks in because i'm sure after a while we would have repeat comments or similar comments so that's why they've extended it to 30 minutes and we will try to get through each person will have three minutes for a total of 30 minutes so we may get to more people tonight if you don't go too long and we haven't turned on so i think that's the majority of everything i have to say yes and you'll come up there and mr alexander is going to be the time keeper and he will give you a heads up when you are i will i will start the time when you begin your comments and i will give you a one minute warning and then i will tell you when your time is up and i will say your name and your address and and the box you checked and you do not have to say that so your time will just start with you know just start talking you don't have to say your name or any of that since i'll do that um this way doesn't mean [Music] okay our first speaker tonight is aaron webber at 10 28 silver creek court greenwood community member i'm actually going to be here yeah um is that a live light it might have shed itself off [Music] i'll be using my time to dr carly carville [Music] thank you for allowing me to speak today my name is dr carly pavel md and i am a parent to a center for a student and a board certified family medicine physician practicing in the area and i've also taught undergraduate microbiology both in person and more recently online at a local university i stand before you today to represent many medical professionals and many concerned parents in the area i do not wish to go with division on this issue nor do i have any political motivation i do however have a public health motivation in what i will say i ask the community as a whole to stay respectful of each other and remember we are humans first i do understand this is difficult for the board so i ask that you follow established guidelines in regards to bosnia as set forth by the cdc american academy of pediatrics and american academy of family practice the large number of experts involved in these guidelines reviewed vast amounts of data and made the recommendation that children should mask irrespective of the number of cases two percent case benchmark is too high for a number of infections to start using methods that have been recommended by medical experts as mass can help to mitigate the script in spreading covert to not follow experts in this area truly makes a mockery of medicine and science that is genuinely astonishing we all want the schools to remain open and overall allow children to be safe and have in-person learning however if the common cases continue to rise as we are seeing then that will not happen given what i have seen in the dashboard percent growth absences are becoming overwhelming in this state the pediatric hospitals are filling with human-related admissions and in all honesty no child should need to die for the school district to try to mitigate the spread the principal ways this can be done for science are social distancing and mass wearing my child wears a mask to protect others all children and teachers should wear masks to protect each other i do understand that this is controversial and that this is truly the part that is hard for medical professionals to understand as i ask that we look after each other and listen to science and medical professionals please follow the recommendations given by the medical experts i do not have any hidden agenda nor do i seek to take anybody's autonomy away but i can say that corbit is significant in our community and i ask that changes be made in line with science to protect our school judiciary and if we do not that would be a big mistake if children do get significantly sick this is something that we would not be able to come back from thank you for your time and i do appreciate you listening to what i have to say thank you our next speaker is linda this is linda meyer thank you and i love it it's 1247.

talk about moving some field position who is sam horner who is the last kickers we've had what was that you're in that list there on those i wasn't a great punter i was just a kicker but that was a one heck of a punt there by vaguely and that just shows he ain't gonna come off the field tonight if we're seeing him punt two he's gonna be sore tomorrow that's good for a 60-yard punt and you go from the ball at the 20 all the way down ball to 20 now so it's like you're doing that math on the top of your head yeah you see those wheels the smoke going on yeah thanks to miss steve back in the day grip coming off the field he's got the balls ready coach d coach jermaine get the d ready gonna be three down linemen three linebackers for the eagles trips left for the indians quarterback's gonna change at the line of scrimmage and a massive running back they have in the backfield moves the running back to the left side it's going to be a straight hand off nope it's going to be a keeper to the quarterback he's got enough for a first down he's making two guys miss he's got an edge and he's got mcconaughey chasing him down and it's going to be good for probably a 30 yard run right there and it's going to be a first down mcconaughey was a man in pursuit and you know coach tremaine will not be happy with that first play there because one thing that he expresses to his linebackers is you gotta force him inside sam and the outside linebackers did not do that there so we'll see if these outside linebackers can force everything back inside because that's where your help is always gonna be doubles this time defense is the same lineup doubles running back to the left side going to be a high snap and man that's really unfortunate that there was a false start because that snap would have been great for the eagles defense [Applause] however false start loss of five for the indians but man that snap was two yards over the quarterback's head he just turned around and ran right away hey at least from our first couple snaps too we didn't have any bad snaps nothing like that so good to see grant matheny getting the ball in vaguely's hands [Music] the officials tried to give it a 10 yard penalty other than the five i'm sure colombia wasn't going to say anything but you could hear the mosquito coaches over here saying why are we are we so far back right now gonna still be a doubles formation send number one in motion to the right side gonna be a fake handoff once again quarterback's gonna keep it he's gonna try to bust it to the left and he will be brought down by dominic vaguely and number 52 jason kaczynski on the tackle after four yards just watching their offense that's going to be a lot of things that we run a little rpo action with a wide receiver coming in motion and that quarterback reading the eyes of the linebacker or the defensive end so he can either pull it or hand it off so we'll be looking for that a lot tonight for mosquito quarterback's first pass attempt over the middle of the field that's going to be caught by number one good pursuit by mcconaughey who's just one step off [Applause] and it's good for about 25 30 yards in a first down one guy coming in on the field number 44 number two coming off coach germain and coach warner both talked about how good this offense was going to be in this quarterback it's a very talented quarterback and now before they're right up there in the booth i don't know if they've had like a cooler or something doubles to the right side sniffer back to the right side quarterback look for the default pull the floater to the corner of the end zone and it's going to be in completely i'll start over here on this side [Applause] i don't know if you saw the quarterback there was no uh no hiding what was coming he gave that hand signal and said go yeah i don't know if you saw that wide receiver got a little uh antsy too and he took off right before the snap was drawn but awesome brings up a second down in 10.

and you know we might see some inexperience at times and and that's natural with 32 seniors graduating last year [Music] i know duncan rolls to the left and throws it away [Applause] that brings up third down and 14 on the for the olympians i know it's been a big week for the vogel family columbus east new coach head coach he's been a long time assistant a few birthdays in the household and i talked with mrs vogel in this is an exciting first northeast rivalry game for coach vogel and i know he's looking forward to the challenge good run up the middle by villarreal but it will not be enough for a first down so that's fourth down for the o's we'll see if they i'm not sure if they'll do the same thing well it looks like they are they are gonna go for it and we're seeing some both teams go for it be kind of being in no man's land and duncan keeps it rolls to the left but will not be able to get a first down and so both teams showed some promise early but were not able to convert with either a touchdown or a field goal on the first drive so that'll bring up first down for the bulldogs we'll see if hammonds and the dogs can get it going on their second drive [Music] in the shotgun hands it off to redmond and east defense continues the pressure at the line second and 12 2 yard loss and it seemed like the oh snuffed that one out from the beginning i know we'd all like to see points go up on the scoreboard but so far we're seeing a defensive matchup on both sides both teams doing a great job of making pressure up front and limiting both sides hammond's back throws it to the left side hits cass that are on the left and that was a great timing play from hammond's to keegan cassetter as we spoke earlier cassette is not afraid of contact up the middle but that time he showed great route running to the left side and good timing from both hammons and cassetter third down for the bulldogs third and short on the 34 yard line we'll see what the dogs choose to do motion cast center to the right hammond's in the shotgun with redmond to his left quick pass out to the left side 13.

is that stupid [Music] those against [Music] those against the mass mandate want to work together for a resolution that all center for parents students and personnel can live with no one sign should have the absolute say-so in the decision and there should be flexibility from all points of view before you reach your final vote tonight we're asking you to seriously consider our position against mass mandate when the pandemic began nearly two years ago our life of knowledge arguably justified extreme measures of safety mass mandates and social distancing hopefully we've learned how to manage our fear and uncertainty through the availability of a vaccine to teachers parents and children who choose to get vaccinated and the use of mass to those who choose to use this and in all of this the operative word is choice members of one group here tonight want to exercise their constitutional parental right to choose what they believe as parents is in the best interest of their children they adhere to the fundamental belief that americans have the right to be sovereign over their own bodies and we will refer to them as group one members of another group you will hear from tonight they have chosen to wear a mask and to ask their children and we will call them group two the issue before us is whether or not group two has the right to infringe upon group ones constitutional and parental rights to try to pressure this board to mandate mass for all children in the centerville schools please note that group one is not trying to force its beliefs on group two group one respects the constitutional and parental rights of group two to choose and women and we believe those parents are in the best position to determine what is right for their family and it is apparent though that group 2 has no problem trying to force its opinions and choices on group 1 which is contrary to our beliefs and our rights fruit 2 relies on medical advice we've heard for the last year and a half how different medical advisors differ on their opinions and whether masks are even effective they are little incubators for bacteria and so are they really effective to keep our children safe nelson mandela famously said there can be no keener revelation of a society soul than the way in which it treats its children we don't have any long-term scientific data to determine the impact but the cycle social impact of these results time [Music] all right our next speaker is david is it boseman bowser thank you uh 36 86 and barry lane parents parkersville [Music] committee good sir thank you mr chairman uh members of the board i appreciate this opportunity tonight to address the school board i know this is a challenge a challenging situation for all of you and i'm certain a situation none of you ever expected to be in while there does seem to be a lot of division here tonight there's also a lot that unites us here we want in-person education for our children we want a safe learning environment for our children and i believe all of us here truly deeply care for our children the different laws the different slides however and how we get there in any other area of life where we don't have the expertise we seek the advice and recommendations from experts in that field if we need financial advice we seek counsel from a financial plan if we need legal advice we seek the counsel of a lawyer the indiana state department of health strongly recommends masks in k-12 and making that recommendation based on the cdc american academy of pediatrics the johnson county health department and many other reputable medical experts have all made clear and unanimous recommendations about wearing masks in case of all schools while i support the revised plans that the board has before it is a step in the right direction i believe it is still the reactions that proactive so why do we wait until we have a situation at hand the data is clear that the virus is spreading among our children the delta varying in particular is starting to take a more stronger toll on our children as evidenced by the hospitalizations and expecting those that riley than the previous periods however we are not in the same place that we were in march of 2020 when the pandemic first started we know more about the virus and we continue to learn more about it how it affects people of all ages how it spreads and most importantly how to stop it from strength until that teams are available for our younger children masks and social distancing along with other sanitary procedures i probably stop it [Music] i appreciate the board responding to the data and making and proposing that will provide a framework for in-person education to occur in a safe manner i hope this more will be done to better protect our children by following the medical recommendations and as an attorney i would say in response earlier this discussion that there is no constitutional right schools have had a long history of being able to provide safety methods in place as well as vaccine requirements for the safety of children at hand thank you very much [Music] our next speaker is greendale drive parent parker's bill thank you i'm karen cecil experience in the city school system also graduate i'm also the doctor of a different kind of drph who's the doctor of mental health and a master's in public health but here i'm here today to share some stories and experiences from families and parents who have children in this business that can't be here to share them on their own many of those who favor mass mandates even though so-called experts claim that masks don't bother our kids the reality that for many females in our district this simply is not true mass present problems for children with sensory issues asthma anxiety auditory disorders dermatitis and other skin disorders just to name a few let's take for example aubry a first grader in center of the district she is a high-risk child because of a health condition causing scarring in her lungs she is pneumonia and requires hospitalization two to three times a year if there is a family in this district who wants to prevent their daughter from getting coded this is that family but the truth is audrey's already had coded thankfully she recovered from it just fine what has caused aubry's family far more common than hope it did was the requirement for her to wear a mask you see aubry is autistic she like many children in our district have sensory issues she chews on everything she physically cannot help that although her iep specifically stated she could wear a face shield rather than a mask the school refused to permit this knowing she would have to be masked when she got into the building aubrey became so hysterical that most mornings she would be carried into the school by her mother landon a third grader began having headaches and stomach pain last year after hours of wearing the mask at school adding to the anxiety and landon's class if the mask fell below their nose or they pulled it down momentarily they would lose recess time one of the very few mass breaks they had during their entire school day last i want to tell you about fenway family is a kindergarten student born with a collect palette and she has difficulty with her speech and it became hard to understand her when she is not hearing that after masculinity is nearly impossible for her to communicate effectively with her classmates she got into the car at pick up most days crying because of her frustration and no one being able to understand her one time made fun saying she needed to learn to speak english her dad says it took her most of the summer to return to her normal happy self a mass requirement will be a huge setback and obstacle for friendly frankly she had enough setbacks enough to overcome without this those are just a handful of stories from our district there are many many more statistically a child recovers from code within about 10 days usually less than that but the stories we have shared with you tonight and stories just like them from all over our community tell us that maths do have consequences consequences that last much longer than 10 days wearing a mask for seven plus hours a day is not a denial issue it's not a no-brainer as many would have believed there is a high cost to mass mandates for many of our children we don't actually know how effective mass are preventing the spread of hope is we don't know if they help a little a lot or even if they help at all the experts on this do not agree but let me tell you what we do [Music] thank you our next speaker is teresa lockhart 4650 hickory ridge road grove i'm sorry apparent greenwood i wanted to start by saying thank you dr arkanov your team and the school board you made a decision to invest in the education of children which is a critical role in any community i know none of you chose a path having to make mental filled decisions for him pandemic that being said the statement county has passed mandatory authority to you as you see fit using the stands only mandating that which state and county mandates is not viable strategy any longer in less than three weeks it is clear weaker language like recommended or strongly recommended are not strong enough it allows opinions to be debated against the public-minded advice of health experts i think all of us in this room can agree that we have a common goal provide the best education for our students in a safe environment and keep them in in-person learning the difference lies in our opinions on how best to achieve that goal i for one not a medical professional i'm an engineer who has a good problem in gathering data to provide a comprehensive solution i enjoy the swiss cheese model using the coffee chat because that's often used in aerospace product safety training as well you may add many layers of risk reduction reduction or slices of swiss cheese to reduce the opportunity of your defined problem whether that be an engine shutdown on a plane with a spread of highly contagious viruses wool all the layers have different strengths and weaknesses and while that are perfect the important part is that each layer improves the effectiveness of every other layer prominent medical organizations such as the american academy of pediatrics and cdc have laid out prevention methods that when combined give the best reduction for risks in schools vaccination masking physical distancing i will not name them all i'm happy to see that center grove has implemented many of these recommendations but they work best but they're all used unless questioning why is one of the least expensive and most readily available options not the one mandated masking is only effective if everyone participates it's not a choose your own adventure option for this swiss cheese method to work masking is proven to drop infection rates by over 70 in multiple collegiate studies i questioned how many even got to space where masking was optional for the unvaccinated population in the first place infections at center for school are 33 times higher compared to last year than this time and yet we're implementing less measures to keep kids in school well i'm glad the district has made the back to school policy more robust it still uses the policy of reacting to an event once out of control rather than proactively reducing the risk we should all want to use the available risk mitigation items presented to us by the medical community to keep kids in school in person by not using all the options that are readily available i do not believe the boards that holding or common goal providing the best education for our students by keeping them in school i ask that you be brave and make an educated decision as the leaders of an educational board instead of making a decision based on misinformation and pleasing people who aren't medical health professionals i urge you to follow the guidelines of medical professionals just as school band-aids all sorts of other things to provide safe learning environments that reduce risk of students hold up your end of the deal and do it right not just what you need our next speaker this evening is mary graham tim brooke way parent parkersville so before i speak um i would just ask before we start the time too i was just absolutely not video i know this is live stream which i'm fine but i have a minor here so i ask that we don't video and have it be posted on facebook instagram or any of that okay i am a respiratory therapist um i've been respiratory therapists for 26 years and as a healthcare provider we have mandatory this pit mass fit test yearly every year we have to be properly fit tested with our masks because there's so many different types they come in different fabrics they come in different sizes and with our combi patients we mask we gown we glow and with our coded patients we um place our coded patients in negative airflow rooms to prevent the spread of an airborne disease why because we all know that mask wearing alone does not spread the spread of copic this is my daughter she attends center grove high school i don't have her here to exploit her but i want to put a face to her story she's always been an honor student she's always made aids she's never had any mental health issues but last year rachel was quarantined three to five times we lost track due to contact tracing she did all the right things rachel wore a mask she washed her hands she did everything she was supposed to but yet she was quarantined again and again and she never had a sniffle all this unnecessary quarantining caused her to have anxiety caused her to have fear because not because of this disease but it's because she was forced to stay at home and learn all by herself which is a lot of pressure to put on any young person fear of failure falling behind her peers even though she's academic she's a hard worker she has supportive parents that are home to help her and despite all this her mental health began to suffer and for the first time in her life she was failing school and at the end of last year all of this manifested into ticks physical and i'm sorry physical and verbal tics rachel began this school year and she's been it's been somewhat normal for her she's not been quarantined she almost doesn't have to wear a mask and guess what it's for the first time her grades are up her anxiety is down and she her grades she's her grades are up for anxieties now she's a different child but listen if masking is what it takes to put the extra measure of protection most of us will agree here that we will do what it takes to keep our child in school but this is what i ask of you on your end to add an extra level of protection to keep our kids healthy would you please allow antibodies wipe on school they allow their students to return from school from quarantine with antibodies my hospital allows antibodies being in the same county why can't we allow antibodies to this insane quarantining of healthy children for their emotional it's got to stop for their emotional health and well-being and for all their overall education rachel is not alone she was just one of the few brave young students that were willing to stand up here and tell her story [Music] greenland so i am a parent and a member of this community and all of us in this room are here to do what feels the best of the students the center group this is the first pandemic for all of us and information changes as we learn more about kobe 19 regarding the use of mass warranty and other changes related to the pandemic and the health and welfare of everyone i ask the board to follow the science listen to the medical experts that are connected with the school system if they don't have answers then listen to the county and state medical communities listen to medical experts you trust and be willing to modify plans based on the science if the science and experts say mascara benefit which they do then actually be acquired among the changes i realize there's more to this plan than mass again if the science is followed i do not see this planet as a draconian action i see the planet as one that benefits our community for the help of welfare all students and employees please make educated well-informed decisions do not make decisions based on pseudoscience or humanity fear rely on the experts no one in this room wants to hear about another preventable death thank you [Applause] our next speaker is emily montgomery chelsea or i'm sorry what does that say chelsea terrace thank you chelsea terrace parent greenwood [Music] thank you for the opportunity to speak here this evening i'm asking that you keep mask wearing a choice as an industrial hygienist and certified safety professional i could be the most qualified person in this room to comment on that for those that do not know industrial hygiene is the science of our devoted to the anticipation recognition evaluation and control of those environmental factors or stressors rising in or from the workplace which may cause sickness impaired health and well-being or significant discomfort among workers our amount of citizens and communities presently most of the people talking about exposure and exposure control of medical doctors certainly these are intelligent individuals they are not ihs whose goal is to control and the exposure and select appropriate ppe to where and when doctors treat people i just protect people no one is talking to the subject matter experts one of the core concepts of ih is hierarchy of controls this shows what one what to do is trying to control a hazard should do elimination or substitution is not applicable to viruses so we move down to engineering controls options here dilution through ventilation and destruction technologies ventilation systems administrative controls are things such as written policies and training with the goal of reducing frequency and severe exposure ppe could be many things but for this conversation inflation and earth concern therefore respirators are the selected compete with the last line of defense and least desirable option masters are not respirators and are not ppe so they don't fit within the hierarchy of control masks are not respirators because you cannot seal the edges of a medical mask and do not connect a fit test on a mask while osha recommends a mask they acknowledge that astronaut respirators and cloth-based coverings are not an acceptable substitute for respirators thereby refusing the public the cdc has issued similar recommendations yet it acknowledges that mass are not a reliable level of protection from inhaling smaller airborne particles the fibrous particle is so small that it will easily find its way in or around the mast if you were to take a hair from your head could you slip that between your face and mask this is what we put people who are doing asbestos work in and asbestos fiber is five microns and you expect this to block a particle that's 0.14 microns study after study have done health care workers comparing no mass to mass and mass in 95 filtered face visas so there's no benefit health care workers wearing an aspirin in 95 to our dependent respiratory influences like illnesses to suggest a community at large that have no training on dawning storage cleaning or replacing the benefit from such as no scientific back pain talk to the experts use engineering controls dimension and destruction and keep your promised appearance that we have choice please do not yell out good [Music] parents who chose not evening be here tonight this meeting itself closes risks they weren't willing to take i request that the disease is held virtually whether there is abortion giving both sides of the debate equal opportunity to be represented the only real revision i noticed during this cognitive presentation was the change to requirement if the infection rate in any school reached two percent while this is a step in the right direction it's not sufficient to keep kids healthy and in school learning in person research shows that face coverings are far more effective if they are used preventatively and proactively as opposed to reactively why do we need to allow so many children to become ill and possibly end up hospitalized or lose their lives to enforce a very simple protocol that kept kids in elementary schools learning all in person all year last year and does them no harm i'm having trouble understanding why the board doesn't seem more concerned with the health and safety of children who don't even have the option to protect themselves or another in any other way right now masks are the solution and last year's last school year proved that now here we are in a new school year with a much more virulent transmissible strain of the same partners as hospitalizing indiana children at rates exponentially higher than last year and we're not requiring that with all due respect there is no logic in this many surrounding suburban school districts have instituted this mandate regardless of socioeconomic status or political affiliation this is not a political issue it is a public health issue i've had the pleasure of communicating with several local medical professionals about this issue and i personally work in behavioral health in an integrated care setting and i can assure you the majority of us the unified front are in support of mass we want to keep our kids in school we have jobs we'd like to continue working and without disruption we like to see our kids academic instruction be carried out by the professionals who are educated and trained to do so skillfully we are not teachers and many of us humbly acknowledge that we're not skilled or patient enough to teach our kids at home as you've left us no virtual action this year we're left with no choice which way the importance of our children's physical versus mental health and well-being as we know they need pure interaction with specialized instruction but something this is cool means potentially jeopardize jeopardizing their health not only now but in the future since we don't know what long-haul symptoms will look like for children having worked through this pandemic as a therapist treating all ages i can attest i've never once dealt with a child adolescent or teen who struggled with masculinity although i'm very sorry for the young ladies they are all adapted they all adapted in my experience i also had a kindergarten sign whom i had to remind frequently removed his math when he was home from school because he got so used to it i can also test that i treated kids who had posed 19 or had friends or teachers or parents or busters or other relatives suffer or die from copen and this is what we processed this is the trauma of covet not masks my kindergarten is now in first grade struggling to keep his mask on because so few of his friends and peers wear one i hear that stories of kids being bullied and ridiculed and the irony is that math is protecting those kids doing bullying this is unacceptable after the fact that social destiny measures aren't being compared to properly if you're unwilling to pre-consider your plan and mandate massively surrounding school districts with similar infection grades are doing i'd like to offer a different solution please consider our plans to call it um 5763 saddle club road barbersville where are you aaron thank you dr arkansas school board you're making decisions that affect thousands of children we understand that a certain amount of this is out of your hands and in the normal world the public schools take their cues from the higher powers and go on down the road but this is not a normal world this is a world split upside down especially for our kids i want to point out some things that we as parents have been told from your administration just this week and hope that it encourages you to ask yourselves if you really consider what you're asking us to accept we were told in the coffee chat that at most three percent of close contacts are actually getting sick in other words you know at least 97 of the students you're trying to stay home are completely healthy respectfully do you hear yourselves and have you questioned the authority that is mandating this we're told that vaccinated students are exempt from quarantine and we're told in the same breath that you know that vaccinated children are still contracting and spreading the virus but they're intent from quarantine because they're vaccinated do you hear yourselves we're told that a positive coca test in the last six months is accepted because having coping produces antibodies that make you immune but antibody tests that show you have antibodies are not accepted do you hear yourselves a copy chat is supposed with the idea that we will get to have some of these hard questions answered but they're met with no response week after week questions like if you're seeing positive cases with vaccinated individuals knowing they can still spray coping why do they not have to quarantine it was asked several times it was met with silence it doesn't exactly inspire confidence in our decision makers we get it you take your recommendations from the state and from the professionals you hired but this is unprecedented time why aren't you taking unprecedented measures to seek truth and facts why aren't you asking the hard questions and why are you answering our hard questions respectfully you're making decisions as the last year never happened we've already lived through 18 months of this we know that we're keeping healthy children at home we know that it is having horrific effects on their mental health and you're still making the same decisions that you made last year when all of us when all this was unknown why because the health department told you to how many hard questions have you asked the health department instead of growth administration where's the leadership that says this up and this isn't good for our kids that we have to do something that is the leadership that we need that is the leadership we thought we elected protect our kids you can't protect them from comfort it's here and it's not leaving anytime soon but you can protect them from the complete nonsense that is having far more adverse effects on this than the vipers with a 99 pediatric recovery rate kids deserve better than we the community demanded 30 minutes for public input so at this time we will close the public public comments on regardless mr russell thank you dr arkham thank you to everyone i also uh speak to the board and saying we appreciate the calmness of listening to you and having respect to listen to you speaker we will now move on to our next agenda which is the act nine month tonight thank you uh this evening i'm going to have a presentation let me bring up the information here i apologize so this evening mr jason taylor assistant superintendent of human resources technology and health services along with amy norman director of health services will be presenting to you revisions to the 21 22 return to school plan i'm recommending that the board approve the plan this evening and we'll have the terminal to provide you with a presentation thank you thank you [Music] what we'd like to do tonight is provide an updated plan that we presented back originally in july to the school board parker is going to be our navigator on the presentation i threw a couple pair of balls at her but uh i think she'll be through it for us so i just want to start by making a comment that michelle and i both are also parents in this district we have children throughout the schools um you know we were both trained to come here to support schools students in an educational environment this is not the type of presentation we have a before commission but we are going to present the recommendation that we've worked through from guidance from the state from the county from the cdc and from here to our school that's what we've appreciated with all that being said this has been very a very compassionate and purposeful goal of our school board to keep our students in our schools in traditional marketing that's what we feel like is best for our students that's what we want to do we want to keep all of our schools in our schools all our students within our schools as much as possible this school year next time we're going a little further into that goal we believe that in personal learning provided by our exceptional teachers is the best way for our students to learn unfortunately in the past three now almost four weeks that traditional mode of learning has become undergrad and it has significant risk risks at a scale we did not see last year some of those risks have listed here we have currently more positive cases in three weeks than we had in the last three months that's just a glass friday when we look at this week it's going to be even longer last week alone we saw 594 quarantines in isolations from the field and prior year in the prior year school year we moved to the blended model learning just above and then between 400 positive pace or 14 isolations and unfortunately something we we didn't see as much last year but it's happening very quickly in our buildings this year is we're reaching that 20 absolute key rate and that's something that's been around for a long time well beyond government um it's something that's normal team track typically we only have to track into making through major influenza seasons or 8201 or something like that but this year we're seeing our schools getting off the close to that 20 mark and why that's so important is that that requires mandatory reporting to the state and then we investigate why we're at 20 with our county and you've probably seen the news there are schools who have hit that mark and have been recommended that they close those schools and move to a limited model we don't work today and finally our staff warranty and isolation numbers are rising each week these are vaccinated and unvaccinated staff members as we mentioned actually folks are testing positive for cocos and so we are getting concerned that our ability to maintain that traditional learning environment is slipping away from us and so this evening we'd like to make a series of recommendations and summary each summary in summary of those changes i have a slide here and then we're going to uh get a little more in depth with the data and recommend these changes the first one would be a recommendation and a change to our base recovery policy at this time we currently operate as face everything's optional at all times we'd like to change that and recommend that we look at all individuals wearing fixed membranes indoors and normal school bus we will use what the johnson county health department has recommended to us [Music] a threshold of one percent in our school buildings of positive cases would trigger a strong recommendation from the corporation we would communicate that to families and ask them that they wear a face covering so that we don't go up to the next bullet point which is a two percent threshold at two percent we would then require base coverage for all individuals in the building and it would remain our environment until we get back below that one percent threshold for about a week so we want to make sure if we see a spike we can mitigate that and we can return back to a level that we feel like we can continue with our traditional education we do want to point out a bullet here that entire classrooms could be quarantined and moody learning with three or more positive cases some of the some of the guidance would proceed here is to start throwing out of one or two cases after speaking with the county they feel comfortable and we would we would continue to use three and i say continue because we've had to close in classrooms already this school year and close is a great word but it's a short decision what it means is we pointing all of those students and most of them could return on that a8 as a class or day 11 or 14 depending on their choice but that's really what that means as i mentioned on the last slide we are getting close to where we hit that 20 and we may have to pass the state and let them know that we may need to close the building they may tell us we need to close that bill we may not have that choice they may ask us to move to move our students to key learning instead of a traditional mode of learning and this is all total illnesses and so this isn't just coping illnesses that might factor into this and that's one more reason to kind of think about what the face term may help us not just double some other spread of we would also make a change for the indoor activities taking place after school in those buildings we would require face coverings for all spectators and non-participants in that activity further near the department of health the antibody testing is no longer allowed to avoid voiding they never allowed us our county did recommend it at one point and they removed that recommendation we appealed to the state we've asked them to allow this and they've said firmly [Music] finally we will make a change to our school day visitors and volunteers who would like them to wear their face coverings at all times as long as johnson county is outside of the food advisory status and once a building reaches a full two percent of positive cases we might limit our volunteers and visitors to only the essentials miss norman's gonna share some of the data she works in this every day this is what she does for us so much and her team does and supports and she's gonna share so we can get a feel for what this really looks like in our schools [Music] um as you can see beginning with uh our first case occurred on august 6th august 5th was a great day because we knew everybody was going to be in school that wouldn't be a problem um but we've been trickling up um in fact we've spent more than a trickle we've kind of been jumping exponentially each week as you can see we started with two hit 34 the second week school the third week of school we were at 99 and this week as of this evening at five o'clock we were at 97 pieces so it would be well over 100 likes tomorrow [Music] because of that you know obviously there's clearly related absences that go into that there are quarantines that occur i know that that is frustrating for families now that's upside down i would like to say that when we quarantine we're looking at a three-foot area for closing our mind what that has equated to is approximately two to three on average students who are quarantined there are some areas where we just can't win the quarantine issues okay lunch is one of them as you can see sitting at these tables you sit closer than three feet no matter what you do it's just part of the process you can go to the next slide and this is kind of a look at where we stand on the farm is that we are right there it's our current positive cases that we're sitting at as a five o'clock today and and this are not mistaken this is where we are looking at that one threshold um these cases when we have a positive case it will sit as a current positive case for 10 days according to the county we look at that isolation period that that person is under until they can return to school that is that's what you know we've been instructed by the county health department to be able to determine these types of things so that's the calculation that we're using um on the left that shows the threshold of cases or where we would be to hit those marks of that one and the two percent this is kind of look at just our daily absences um this takes into account not just coping this takes into account just parents calling in because their kids are sick which i greatly appreciate that you do that whether you test or not whether you believe in testing or not please keep your children home if they don't feel well they don't learn at school when they're not feeling well whether they have a fever or not if their head is full it's not they can't function in school so we appreciate it when we keep them home so thank you i would greatly appreciate it please continue to do that but as you can see we are having difficulties with the number of absences that we're experiencing whether it be covet whether it's the rsv whether it be just a random cold whether it be whatever is out there in the community that's going on these things affect our ability to teach kids in school this kind of gives us an indication of where we were last year versus where we are this year looking at week three there we were up to i guess this week two years or week three now we were at 99 cases at the end of the week week three last year a year ago we were at three cases we've been you know at the rate that we are going i think we're currently 232 total cases for the school district last year we had 744 for the year our battle is not quarantined our battle is that this is something that is spreading it's something that's making people sick and making it so that they can't come to school i heard some people in their comments talking about close contacts and things like that and that might be the next slide done last year at this time we had quarantined 418 kids on three cases and one of the things i want to point out is at that time we were doing a six foot distance for contact tracing um when we went into second semester the state reduced that distancing to three feet and part of that was because of data showed close contacts were not contracting this and so they felt comfortable allowing that distance to come down which i applauded and was excited about because i was very frustrated this year you know we've had 500 north 94 warrantings but we've also had dramatically more cases but that goes to show that we're trying to keep those quarantines so that they're where we as i said we're following the guidelines that have been issued by the county health department which is freezing so that's what we're working towards by doing that our numbers for quarantine are very similar to what they were in the spring our issue this year is we just have so many more cases we're working tirelessly to just try to keep up with it just kind of shows you know that average of you know last year we would have about 33 ounces this first semester whenever we had a positive case this year we've gotten that broken down to it's about three kids generally speaking at the elementary level these are the kids your kids are hanging out with these kids all day you know we've tried to pot them they eat lunch together they're sitting together you know we've done everything you know the teachers have done a magnificent job trying to get their rooms so that we keep these things so that they're not taking out entire rooms they're not taking out entire rows they're not taking out nine pins for one which was where we were at last year [Music] um one of the things i think that is most disturbing for me is that last year i had approximately i had 18 students that i could say were close contacts who tested positive that was for the entire school year that was part of my frustration with a little bit of the quarantine because you know it didn't seem to necessarily affect the other students as we said we were keeping healthy kids at home this year just in these three weeks i've already had 15 students who has positive who were close contacts um that's you know that right now we're running at about 6.7 that's positive if they come in contact with other students who have been coping that's part of the reason why we're doing the quarantine the problem that we're running into is can't get them out fast enough that it doesn't make more quarantines um this variant that we have is a lot more contagious last year it was estimated to be one person with coded would probably infect three people this year it's one person with this delta variant it affects about eight people and that's alarming and i'll be honest when i check attendance you know i i know that there's been some things posted on facebook where there have been some mistakes made in regards to contact tracing and you're right we're human we do the best that we can and it is difficult it's difficult to find it's difficult to make sure that we have the distances correct it's going to help to make sure we have the seating chart correct but we do try to correct those if that happens and i also think that we're doing a pretty good job with it unfortunately one of the trends that i noticed that's really disturbing is a lot of times when i pull these things up those kids have been absent within that same need so whether they test it or not it tells me they potentially could have a problem that potentially could have gotten infected school or they could have come to school and infected other people with whatever it is i wanted to kind of throw a slide in here that summarizes and takes a positive where we're at so our recommendations tonight are to start as tight as we can and try to mitigate spread in pockets and so the recommendation we made earlier you noticed would be on a building basis where we make a change in the mixed governance we've also tried to be even a little more closer to the case by looking just in the classroom and and that's what the slide then represents something i talked about earlier is that we would look we would look to forge you in a classroom before we were to close it or continue to school unfortunately that could happen in three or four positive cases it has happened already this year and then the twenty percent of you saw the chart as something we're approaching very quickly many of our schools are at the 15 threshold uh at the end of last week and we continue to watch that daily um and this part so um and this is the moment of logical place so if you would like once more i appreciate it this is a model that someone enjoyed earlier and mentioned this that's okay sorry about that it's okay the items in the light blue are things that we're already doing or things that are under the school corporations kind of control uh you'll see we've we've kind of layered these pieces of swiss cheese together so that we could maybe stop that infection from reaching the individual at the other end no seal layer itself will protect us from the virus but with all of these layers stacked upon each other we have our best chance to fight against the spread across the top physical distance needs to help your sick teaching students proper hand hygiene um if crowded we're limiting our time we're trying not to create any currents um ventilation outdoors and air filtration is something i'm so proud of what our corporation's done what dr long and his team have done if you look above you in the cp you see these fixtures that are not lights these are air purifiers they do have uv light inside of them they are cleaning the air in this room where our students eat every day we're adding these throughout the corporation and have a plan to add them in every learning space through our upcoming construction projects beyond that some of the air of the schools is already being turned over in a way that's much more cleaner than you've ever seen in a household or residential setting the final blue blue teal where the toolbox across the top is a quarantine isolation and that's a strategy we've employed to try to mitigate the spread um at the bottom we have two gto boxes where it's avoiding touching your face again teaching the kids and then the use of tracing there are three items that we don't have a lot of control over and that's vaccinations well we have a great rate in our county we don't have control over that we have not mandated that for students or staff we have listened to the government messaging we have received financial support that we put into these things like the air filtration and to help our teachers uh hone their skills and provide learning into different modes we've done that and then unfortunately fast and sensitive testing is something that's slipping away from us quickly i know as norman said right now when she makes her phone calls and when she talks to a parent and they're interested in returning on page she purges them to schedule their appointment today because there is a significant slowdown in backlogging investing earner memory and even to get an appointment so finally the last box there in green is something that we've not uh employed this school year it's something we did have last year uh and that's what we're talking about this evening is the addition of face coverings yeah an added layer of protection we feel like all those layers together really could help us stay in this traditional learning mode which is what we want to do it's talked a little bit about our vaccination rates in the county very proud of these and the way they've grown since we started looking at these in june and july where i'm almost seven to eight to ten percent in one of these inputs these are the three zip codes that represent center of schools and beyond uh but we look at all three of these um and you'll see some really impressive um protection in our community unfortunately we know that these values don't hold true when we talk about school-age kids um just the county average alone is not anywhere near this we don't get school level data on this as easy as we'd like or as well as we might i also can't tell you how many students in center grove high school have actually this normal technically stab at it but honestly this is what published out there this is what we know to be true so let's talk a little bit more about how we will communicate these changes to parents and for what improves these changes this evening when we hit the one percent positivity in the building that's where we'll send out a parent squared notification so the folks know that's not something that's going to happen overnight that quickly a lot of times we don't have our final case counts in until six seven o'clock after our principals and this woman and her team worked through all of the reports and contact phrasing for the day and so the next morning we'd actually uh um send out some communication on this and let folks know we also posted for the district national you see some changes to that where we kind of put those caller codes out there so folks can understand the situation in their building um when we do get two percent that's where uh again i've kind of had myself there but that's where it'll be we will find that out on say tuesday evening we communicate that out on wednesday morning and the recommendation or the requirement will start the following school day on thursday so that we give parents students and staff a chance to prepare for this our our staff to inform the students that when they get on the bus in the morning when they arrive that's the expectation and then finally dropping below one percent is something that could happen um we hope it does we hope that um once the face coverings are on and these other things are in place that we don't have long long time for about two percent we hope it spikes and comes back down so we can return um where we're at where we're at this one's a little bit different on communication if a building is found to fall back below one percent we've watched that for a period of time we're saying one week and then that's where we would stop that um that option we can return back to optional at that point if we fall back below that one percent and so there's a little bit of a delay there just to make sure we truly came down off that spot some of the graphics you'll see online try to make some of this communication a little bit easier miss conrad does a great job with our team and putting this together of course you'll see a lot of this on our website moving forward this plan is adopted and this is where in green uh cases are below one percent ability masking will remain optional when we get in between that one percent and two percent threshold we strongly recommend base coverage and then once we hit two percent or more that's when we move to the requirement again we have a federal mandate that still requires the maximum of us and then our visitors and then our school clinics and anyone returning all those enhanced precautions would still have the national uh requirement all of this information will be available um on all of our web pages at the very top you'll see go to 19 as a choice and that will take you to the entire code 19 web page where you also see the dashboard and some great tips on how to teach your student to protect them and what symptoms to look for we also have then we will continue to publish our cases daily again we'll move to that color code system as well so folks know what percentage we're in and then we do absences that are related to government on a weekly basis sometimes that heaven flows we kind of draw a line in the sand at the end of the day friday we put that number out then on on sunday so the folks would see what happened that part of the weekend again a summary of kind of what we've covered and this is what you'll actually see on the website uh would be the the face covering recommendation that we talked about earlier uh classrooms with derby three foot of social distancing um that will be something we'll see more classes even spreading out uh beyond that if they're able to um we talked about that changing the visitors as once we reached two percent or as the county's not in blue if i every status are enhanced blaming since last year our high-touch areas our air filtration all those things will continue um we'll be looking at you know the water fountains and bottle fillers and those types of things extracurriculars are going to align with the school building so when a building moves above two percent that's where we have that additional protection in the evenings for our spectators and our non-participants and then finally we'll continue to contact creation quarantine um for the guidance that we've received through the governor and the department of health i think we'll pause there this is the website where all that information will be published um and i want to thank you ford for listening and uh your attention here any questions sure thank you thank you very much members of the board you have any questions for a little [Music] person i'm sure people have questions questions as usual they can send questions to myself to uh mr tanner or even mrs norman they do that through their website on our emails they can also do that through our communication email which we have uh as well appointment on the state stamp store communications so those are some ways they can reach out thank you surprise this is an action item our next order of business would be to see if we have a motion on this presentation from mr terry mr president i moved that [Music] thank you mr daniels are there any questions or comments the one thing i didn't see in this flyback we would like to begin this on monday that give us an opportunity as you saw in this life we have a couple levels that are in the red status as of today i would like to communicate that tomorrow clearly other questions discussion i guess my next the next things i have aren't necessarily questions but more of a more of a comments or observations i i want to i want to thank you and mrs norman both for the effort and the hours and answering the board's questions [Music] dr arden off your team has put a lot of thought and energy into this plan as we have moved forward i think as i commented in the july meeting this is going to be the plan's going to evolve over time we were hoping that as we got into the school year that maybe some of the things we had in place we could begin to relax a bit and think our numbers within the building show us otherwise i think the the plane is presented as good appropriate responses to where we are um i honestly you know don't always agree as i've stayed stated with our health department on things and we're going to continue to work on those things as we go with our with the health department i just have a few things to add and i want to start again by thanking the two of you for all the efforts you put in as people know you know no one in here likes code no one in here likes the position the community's put in we've got friends we've got neighbors we all passionately want to keep our kids in school we all passionately want to keep our kids safe we all passionately want to do what's right i want to thank each speaker tonight because you could have came up here and you did it the right way you gave us very informative information you came up here and you spoke from the heart you came up here you spoke from the information that you hadn't provided so thank you for all that this is the way a community is supposed to do something like this we're not always going to agree we're going to be able to sit down and have a civil conversation about it i said it at the last board meeting i'm going to say it again so i thank you all for that last year we had a quarantine problem we fought we got quarantine reduced to three feet from six feet this year we have a copic positive problem so now with the layers that have been presented i believe our administration i believe our health folks here within within the corporation are doing everything they can to try to keep our doors open i had a senior last year she hadn't asked god all year i didn't want to have a masculine year she got quarantined because i thought i didn't want to get quarantined it wasn't a fun way to spend the senior year she made it through it she's in college he missed what they've got a mask on her there too and i wish they didn't but you know sometimes we have to do things we don't want to do with all that being said i think any chance that any move we can make that increases the chances of keeping our kids in person learning is the step i want to take at this point but as i said the meeting in which we coding i have not proved covered i'll prove the quoted plan at the meeting in which we approve the code plan i said everything that we have done from day one is always subject to change we talk and question and constantly push as you know the five of us up here don't agree on everything but we respect each other's opinions as you know the community doesn't agree on everything but i ask you to respect each other's opinion so we're not done this may not be our last move i hope the numbers go down i hope masks work and we go in the right direction but i thank you thank you thank you for everyone tonight showing up everyone tonight expressing their opinions in a very professional and very civil manner thank you i uh i know i spoke up the last board meeting as well and and i guess i i'll start by saying that what i say is my opinion this doesn't necessarily reflect the opinions of everybody that you see here my fellow board members but as as rob said we do not all agree we do not all agree and with everything in this presentation but i will tell you the one thing that we do agree on is the fact that i want my kid in school i have two kids i have one in elementary and i have one in middle school and i do not want my sixth graders sitting home um learning about accounting i just i don't want that are my kids wearing masks today no they're not um that's my position like i said that this is me this is my family this isn't them but at the end of the day i want my children in school so that means that i need to compromise and i need to put a mask on my child so that they can continue to stay in school then that is exactly what i'm going to do but again i appreciate all of you coming out i appreciate the emails that you send i walked through schools this week i wanted to see for myself what our teachers and our principals are going through and so i took time out of my work day and i walked through schools and i listened i didn't i didn't i wasn't asking a ton of questions i just listened i listened to the principles i listened to you know a principal talk about the struggles with you know certain students that may have issues wearing those masks and i understand that but at the end of the day i think that we need to find that compromise as a community and i feel like this plan is a good compromise and it's a start and it is an ever-changing plan and if like i said in the last board meeting if you do not think that s5 6 actually do not talk daily you are wrong and if you do not think that i do not care about your children you are wrong because i care about every single one of your children including my children and i want what's best for all of our kids and i want them to be in school so this is my seven months on the board i'm super emotional i've not slept well all we please understand that we are trying to do what's best for our kids and while we may not agree we have to respect each other's opinions and keep this going for our kids and thank you for everything that you've done and i know that this has nothing easy for you either and and what you go through on a daily basis i'm sure thank you to start with you guys um i appreciate you taking the time to put all this together and um amy i want to address you specifically i want to apologize if you have a lot of people in this community that you love on emails um i've watched you handle this with a lot of patience and a lot of grace over the last uh couple weeks and even meeting up with this bb um even i even noticed you can answer emails back at four o'clock in the morning a few times so um and i was up to it you know because like thinking you said it's a stressful like something i i'll drink about and i'll wake up um we're lucky not only to have you but everyone said over there at the school honestly to my fellow board members every one of you has handled this with a lot of grace and a lot of patience um like you guys all said you know you definitely don't agree on certain things and i appreciate the conversations they've been meaningful i appreciate you guys helping me understand your concerns and understanding mine it does upset me that this decision is built on the shoulders of school boards as far as i know none of us here disease experts you should have to make those kind of decisions for people's families and your your children now lastly i want to thank everybody who came here tonight take time out of their evenings to express their concerns to us it does really mean a lot to us we've had tons of emails lots of opinions lots of data from medical field professionals all the way to just a mom or dad that wants your kids to stay in school but for what it's worth of honor to represent for what i feel is the majority of the community and how i work tonight and lastly i do want to pray for the safety of our brothers and sisters horses thank you mr federer i too make the administration as president i am in conversation with them pretty much daily basis i also observe how much time this particular issue subject has taken part and taken up their day time when we still have a school group we still have other things that could go on and we must keep going in the midst of all this they have done just an outstanding job and we told we really do appreciate we not say it all the time but we do we do feel that we do need and i want to thank the community uh you know it could be worries when you have a larger crowd like this i'm very proud that we have this involvement we've had board meetings where it was echoing out there that this particular issue has has hit the community from many different angles and it is hard to find where is that medium where is that little ground where is the right thing to do because it could be the right thing to do this week and then all that dark pandemic that then darn virus decides to do something else so we have to react to it we have to figure out okay how do we stop this apartment i have an instance of respiratory therapist who went through all last year and this year and it was just about crying on my shoulder telling me uncle jack every 72 hours we get new information on how to work with this how to handle this and many times the new information totally contradicted the original treatment so you can imagine how you feel when you get that kind of thing and think what did i do something wrong you know before but it's a fluid situation we go through that we get information you have all of you have sent emails i do my best to read them all to my eyes get crossed and i get medical advice you shouldn't ask them i get medical advice they don't do any good i have to put that together the board has to put that together where is that medium where is the you know not not happy medium that pleases everybody but for the students because i can guarantee you everyone up here the kids come first that's why our challenge is keep them in school as a former teacher and some i've served kindergartners to honor senior students and loved every minute but the important thing is to keep them in that classroom because i do not believe each learning is good for hybrids not the best but at least they're seeing each other once in a while they're getting in a classroom once a while so we have to figure all that out along with this so as you can see it's a challenge it is a challenge that keeps us up at night i know this guy and i have texted at 4 in the morning and it does hit you you lay them try to go asleep and think which way do we need to go here with these kids because the kids are the main thing so um i don't need to repeat a lot of what the others have said here but again i do want to say i appreciate your integrity tonight to make this a good meeting understanding you believe in your point you want to get your point across it makes me so proud i grew up in this community and it makes me so proud that you are figuring out a way of having civil discussion you are figuring out a way to create and disagree when we see what's happening in the world and around our country so thank you for that i know that there uh you're seeing some other schools doing different things from us uh i don't mean simplify it but there's that old saying well if johnny says jump off the bridge you're gonna do it you know johnny goes jump off the bridge and say you need to do it we have to look at that you know they're making decisions that they seem fit for their population for their school their kids we have to do that here what do we feel the best for our community and our kids i've said it before because i'd be tired of hearing it but please deal with the state the federal government the state the county cbc looking at all those different things that sometimes coincide but many times don't go inside and as mr hubbard alluded to they've all figured out how to throw it down onto the backs of the school board so none of them have to make the decision if you can imagine them that's hard there's another way around if it's hard well mr russell to that point my son who's a senior as a c9 and we were notified from c9 earlier this week that master now required at c9 because they felt that was the appropriate response to what was going on within in the central nine building with 11 different schools feeding into the building i had a conversation with him about it he wasn't thrilled with the idea believe me but he understood it and got it at the same time and it helps keep them in school and keeps them learning he's willing to put on a mask and do that so it's we got some of our students who are going to be departing we're about to central nine and that's just gonna be the way it's gonna be for now come on thank you i really don't think i need to go on or say more is there any other comments by any others before i call not further uh yeah just one last thing i really appreciate all of you and your work on this as as they've shared this is probably the most stressful thing i've ever seen a board go through obviously the community and everything else going through but your dedication and care to doing the best that you can do is obvious your commitment to the position that you've been elected to is really impressive quite honestly um because you're not doing it for the big two thousand dollars again a year so um you know so it's a it's really just admirable all the efforts and work you've done done as you all share can't say enough about my entire team of course amy you know if we could just all everyone here give her a hand some of them are here tonight to be [Music] just i appreciate that people just people be civil with us as we're trying to work through this i know it's hard and i'm just very thankful to be in this community i've grown up here and i appreciate what you guys have done tonight and being civil with one another i hope it continues but more importantly it's it's not just me it's my whole team so so please remember that thank you the last thing i'll say is uh as you pointed out our country for eight years united states army uh part of that and the oath that was defending the constitution and the laws of our country and this and this forum that we have today and what i appreciate most about that is that we've all come together and no matter the vote that what we have here in this country is a process so however it turns out we'll respect the process and we'll carry it out if the board approves the plan we'll carry it out the board does not approve the plan we understand and that's the process so i just want to thank you all and everyone here tonight and how you handle this and that i know that all of us will respect the process so thank you thank you dr um for another discussion mr alexander would you repeat the motion please yeah sorry um mr president i move that we adopt the return of the school plan for the changes that the return to school plan has presented okay so mr alexander made the motion mr daniels seconded all those in favor say i i was opposed i'm opposed one announcement is september 21st the next regular board meeting and we are done thank you

looks like we still have the same uh chain gang over there we'll name them off here after the play doubles to the right side sniffer back right same formation four down linemen for the eagles defense gonna be a handoff fake handoff and it's gonna be incomplete good job by the eagles defense getting pressure on the quarterback that's always huge if your defensive line can put any pressure on the quarterback it forces him to make a mistake either throw a bad throw or try to elusive his way out of it and try to run it but a great job there by the defensive line to get to quarterback third down and 10 you think you're bringing pressure here oh you know coach your man is 9 30 in the first quarter remaining trips to the right side empty backfield quarterback looking to the right now he's gonna come to the left he's got a man open number 21 he's going to make the catch gain a couple yards but not enough and that's going to bring up a fourth down and four now you're going to see what the scooter is going to do watch the football absolutely like we said earlier keep it clean this is where you got to keep it clean on these kind of plays you did a great job getting a stop don't screw it up 9 30.

he gets a first down and that's cooper horn junior wide receiver who hasn't played football in a few years but has already made an impact for the bulldogs and chase harrison a name that we'll continue to hear throughout the game comes up with the tackle first down for the bulldogs ball is on the 39 yard line motion right oh another high snap oh no i'm not sure who came up with it but it was a fumble another high snap but recovered by keegan cass that are a heads-up play by the wide receiver and i know coach bless cannot be happy about those details i know i've talked to coach bless a number of times and heard him speak in the columbus rotary club program about the importance of fundamentals and an unfortunate high snap there by the dogs let's see if they can recover second and 26.

remaining in the game sun's starting to set got a nice little breeze here tonight here comes an rpo quarterback's going to pull it saigon moving over to their wide side of the field false start by mosquito he moved it looks like the center might have moved the ball saigon was on the short side of the field coach tremaine screaming and yelling getting moved over i don't know maybe that got the center to move when saigon went sprinting by you look at that mosquito line they got a couple big guys out there looks like 59 78 75 both of their guards got pretty good size to them so it's going to be a battle for our d-line tonight colombia's showing all sorts of pressure pre-snap read here doubles running back to the right side gonna be a straight pass it's gonna happen bringing the juice gonna be a fumble by the play pick it up pick it up eagles oh maybe it's picking up [Applause] for a columbia eagles touchdown number 65 owen brewer [Music] there is a penalty flag [Music] flag has been picked [Music] he was flying too he picked that up at about the 40 and he was gone i love when him when he uh an offensive defensive guy catches the football he doesn't know what he's doing take off running oh my goodness [Applause] who would have thought owen brewer scores the first touchdown of the year for the columbia eagles i did not they were it looks like colin sagan or some that outside linebacker really pursued him real well snap good hold kick is up and kick is good wow great job columbia defense that takes the score the indians of muscu to zero your columbia eagles seven nine minutes and 15 seconds remaining on the mandy maguire scoreboard we are going to head to a break and we will be back right after this right owen brewer with the scooping score for the first touchdown of the year for the eagles as we lead it seven nothing and uh owen running into the sunset right there big boy just got it and went yeah he didn't i don't i don't think he knew what to do he saw the ball just rolling and he didn't know if he should just flop on it or pick it up and take off running and i think he made a really good choice well all that excitement is back on the field again vaguely as the kicker [Music] is going to run down the right side makes two men miss he's going to be pursued now by the rest of the eagles and we'll have to see who comes off the pile last for the eagles and it looks like don vagley's last one to get up on that play and that's something we've seen a lot over the years on our kickoffs a lot of the a lot of the times we've given up a lot of yards on on these kickoffs and we were given these offensive the ball at the their 40 or the 50 yard line so it's good to see them not get the ball before our 40 yard line so great job by coach kendall and the coaching staff to put together a good kicking team so we can't get one loose columbia going forward guys up three guys down and saigon's pretty close now he's going to spread out a little bit wider going to be a handoff once again for the big running back he's running straight downhill only option there for mcconaughey was go for the legs because he was going to get rolled go for the ankles get lower than them that's all you can do and a lot of these defensive backs that we have and that we've had over the years i know i say over the years a lot but um just shows these guys aren't afraid to hit and they'll step up and hit you handoff once again big number 21 he's gonna be brought down at the line of scrimmage this time hooks by number 65 for the eagles owen brewer he's doing it all right now [Music] you look at our two defensive ends owen brewer and carter hicks we got some pretty good ties on these two guys right there for wingspan too i mean carter hicks wins he sticks his hands up in the air he's probably close to seven seven and a half eight foot gonna be another false start hopefully nope offsides on the eagles for that far line judge if you're watching tonight you're seeing the camera angles switching around a bunch something new this year that uh the columbia school district got behind we're going to be having multiple camera angles for up here it's going to be used for plays for graduation last year already so a neat little little feature that we have here on kchs bringing the old school name back here [Music] second down and four doubles to left side sniffer back left running back left three down lineman they're going to do a little bit of a stunt on the defensive line saigon forces it in misses the tackle does a great job forcing it back in to be tackled by sam denney [Applause] [Music] did a good job there forcing it back inside but after you do that that's when you gotta break down and just you got you gotta be ready for that running back to know he's only going inside so you just gotta take his ankles out looks like jason kaczynski comes off number 72 anthony antonis comes on the freshman at noseguard gonna be hand off up the middle nope quarterback's gonna keep it up the middle rather he's gonna be hit by about six or seven eagles none of them wrapped wrapped up that'll be a touchdown mosquito got a lot of just trying to bump into them and body them up but nobody's wrapping up on that play and that leads to a big 38-yard touchdown danny lost a shooter [Music] quarterback [Applause] maybe you saw there at the end of that play you had a dom vagaly and it looked like that other corner on the other side came up and tried to make a hit on him but bounced right off of him and that's what will happen whenever you don't wrap up number 25 was the kicker and he's on for the p-80 now too good snap good hold kick is up and it is good so that takes us columbia seven muscuda seven on the mandy maguire group scoreboard we have seven minutes and 46 seconds to go in the first quarter getting after it here in a hurry so we will be back right after this welcome back to the columbia multi-purpose field where the indians just went off on a big quarterback run up the middle nothing fancy on the play just all you knew his five step drop back and launch it to joe street [Music] he sent it to the wilderness and it will be bounce and it will be out of bounds number 30 there for the eagles elijah jarvis does a great job letting it bounce and let it go out of bounds so is that the 35 35 i believe [Applause] i believe college is 35 or nfl is 40.

tyler blyth motioned to the right better snap that time short pass oh to redmond but not able to be caught [Music] very natural to see the nerves early for a northeast match-up hopefully both teams can settle in though and you know give their i know they're giving their best effort but that they can give their best result third and 26 blyth motions to the right and hands it off to redmond stopped early and that'll bring up another fourth down for the dogs [Music] and cooper horn back to take the punt pretty good punt end over end but unable to be caught by number five chase zaffy bulldogs were surrounding him and he did the wise thing and let it go olympians will take over on the 34-yard line two minutes left in the first quarter here i apologize we can't have a clock it's it's very difficult to manage in between the game clock and a live streaming clock we're not able to sync those up duncan motions to the left oh and he's sacked in the backfield by the dogs but i'll try to give you an update as often as possible we're inside two minutes first quarter zero zero [Music] duncan with villarreal oh he keeps it for himself runs to the right he's got it clear open room he's gonna go all the way ethan oh no oh no oh that is an unfortunate mistake [Applause] oh i hate to see that for one of our players ethan duncan just had a great run had daylight near touchdown but ended up fumbling it and north now takes over wow [Applause] columbus north takes over hammonds in the shotgun looks to make him pay oh oh my goodness what a catch by keegan cassetter 50 50 ball between cast etter and rocco duffy i didn't know who came up with it but cass setter wrestled it away ladies and gentlemen you never know what you're going to see in a northeast game and back-to-back plays i haven't seen that wrestled it away and north with the first down hammons hands it off the redmond met up front by a group of olympians well so far the passing game has really been luke hammonds and keegan castetter i think with each of those targets on a drop back going to cassetter and then a few runs by redmond and hammond's with a quarterback keeper and that's the end of the first quarter we're gonna go ahead and take a break we'll be right back with a message from our sponsors it is 0-0 at the end of the first quarter i'm ready to visit the dealership no problem on our website you can get pricing payment information get an estimate on your trade and if you have any questions you can chat with a live agent i know what you're thinking i bought a car somewhere else does that mean i don't get to experience the no vulture zone absolutely not if you need an oil change routine maintenance or vehicle repairs we've got you covered convenience is important which is why you can schedule online in person or over the phone when you're here you can use our shuttle service wait in our lounge or we can come to you so whether you need a new vehicle or service for your old vehicle the no vulture zone is the place to be [Music] and a special thanks to our sponsor for this northeast football game columbus auto group shout out to coach nate bean giving me some insider scoop he said wait for it when north is back on offense synchronized coach signaling oh there's a flag synchronized coach signaling it looks like the offensive coaches along the sidelines and maybe the backup quarterback signal calling and he says it's as tight as the cheerleader formations so appreciate that coach bean a fellow live streamer extraordinaire [Music] shouldn't say fellow he's the extraordinaire appreciate everything he did last year to live stream our elementary basketball league [Music] second and long for the bulldogs throws to the right again to keegan cast setter oh and he's out to the outside and close to the line of scrimmage and rocco duffy who was in tight coverage with cass center so far makes that tackle third down and eight for the bulldogs [Applause] hey if you're enjoying this matchup between the north bulldogs and columbus east olympians would you go ahead and subscribe to the bcsc youtube channel it's because of you that we can offer these live streams hammonds keeps it oh and there's another flag we'll see what they say on that but hammonds was hit hard there if i had to guess yep it was chase harrison uh holding on columbus north it is the penalty has declined so that brings up fourth down for the bulldogs both student sections are in full effect columbus east and the construction gear and columbus north it's pool day punting for columbus north oh spiral nice punt again north makes it impossible for number five chase zaffy to return that punt that'll bring up first and ten for the olympians we'll see if they can recover after that unfortunate fumble i always think it's funny when i hear people say do your job it's like as a player yeah i'm trying to do my job out here do your job sorry just a side note as i hear our caring and dedicated parents because sometimes we just say funny things during sports contests do your job yep that's the plan all right second down and eight for the olympians duncan motions left hands it off to villarreal and he motors up the middle but he is met with resistance from the bulldogs [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] as one wise person once texted me rivalry week it's not so much about making the big play but it's about limiting costly mistakes all right duncan to the left oh oh he is hit by the bulldogs let's give some credit where credit's due number 24 brian trinkle with the sack in the backfield [Music] and brian trinkel gets some well-deserved kudos from the student section and so columbus east is back to punt again with jackson scruggs to receive the punt if it were me i would just kick it out of bounds and not give him an opportunity to run it back but before we get to that point they have a flag will be a delay of game well as delay of game on the olympians [Applause] so the olympians go back to punt after a frustrating drive whoa punt they didn't oh oh no jackson scruggs recovers it though and as i said he made another good run [Applause] and scruggs will give the bulldogs a good start into columbus north columbus east territory and we'll see if hammond's redman cast editor in the gang can make the olympians pay here still 0-0 eight minutes in the second quarter cass setter to the left hammons though keeps it and is tackled after the quarterback keeper chase harrison once again with the tackle second down and eight a little under eight minutes in the second quarter both teams have all three time-outs left hammond's in the shotgun redmond behind him hammond's back sees cast center wide open and he's running and he's got the touchdown keegan casteter with a great route and he ended up with a great block by one of his teammates to score first for the bulldogs [Applause] that was some poise in the pocket by luke hammons and it pays off with a touchdown to keegan cass center just to the make sure you get the kicker and that'll make it 7-0 for the bulldogs here in the second quarter seven and a half minutes left great pass from luke hayman's to keegan casteter and early on you know the olympians have had moments where really thought that they were going to convert unfortunate fumble a penalty here a mistake there [Applause] columbus north equally has had you know a few moments of just jitters early game jitters but hammonds poisoned the pocket delivers a strike to keegan cassetter and the bulldogs are up 7-0 here in the second quarter just a little behind the scenes of those for those of you who are watching on the youtube channel if you wouldn't mind go ahead and click that like button and the reason i say that is you know not because you're liking or not liking the broadcast but when you hit that like button you help the bcsc videos get out and more seen because of different algorithms it's harder to get our great news videos out you know competing videos or always you know they're competing for our attention and so if you don't mind please like our video here kick off by the bulldogs chase zaffy gets a chance to return this time but after a few jukes he's taken down around the 24-25 yard line max mourinho with the tackle as i mentioned at the onset of this broadcast mormino scored his first varsity touchdown last week both teams um had losses north was down at gibson's southern playing against a a good quarterback purdue commit for gibson southern and east i believe played against whiteland and also both teams were away and had losses and you know at the end of this game somebody's going to be one and one and another team is going to be owen 2.

so it is a 35. looks like the train gang alfie longroff is set at the 35 yard line looks like you got stuck messer and stephen hour and kenny matthews over there as well so the same four guys we had every game last year they're here again this year with us let's get our offense going see if we can get something just for him it's massive out there linebacker's linemen everything carter hicks split out wide by himself doubles the right side sniffer back to the right side gonna hand the ball off right away nope gonna be kept and thrown out to mcconaughey and vaguely got pancaked [Music] brings up a second and ten the eagles offense hasn't had anything going for him yet and i think actually we're a negative two yards offense right now and it's eyeball game yeah ball game so yeah i guess we shouldn't complain too much about that i don't want to keep my mouth shut carter hicks split out to the left side mistler is going to be your sniffer back though all familiar position for him jarvis and dominic vaguely in the backfield going to be a handoff this time and it's going to be good for a couple yards we're in the positive side of the ball now good for five and then bring up a more manageable third down to five looks like dom vaguely is gonna [Applause] so i was wondering if do you think mcconaughey will still get some action at running back also i think you could you could have a dual threat i mean you put him back there you got three guys that could run but if you got two running backs back there yeah it looked like mcconaughey was gonna go line it up next vaguely but he was just trying to get the play from coach juan doubles bald shaded towards the right side of the field running back to the left gonna fake the handoff it's gonna be the quick bubbler out and that's probably the best thing that could have happened right there is falling incomplete there was no fooling anybody there mosquito had that sniffed out surprised all the teams we played haven't sniffed that one out over the past couple years i mean that's one of those plays where the wide receiver takes one step and comes right back to the ball and you've seen you see it all over the place it's just a little screen pass to get your uh wide receiver in space and run out of diagonal and try to score a touchdown but great job by the scooter defense to break up the pass and know what was coming so that brings up another three and out for the eagles offense seven minutes remaining on the paul corey pharmacy scoreboard here at the stadium dom gets another booming pun off great job the number one he's going to catch it falling backwards he gets to the 10.

and early on columbus north has the advantage ethan duncan though rolls to the left oh and he's hit in the backfield number 32 bryce abner with the sack both times really nice sacks by the bulldogs in the backfield when duncan has rolled left and as a right-handed quarterback that's hard to bring that ball back and get rid of it but he's got to get rid of that ball there that'll bring up third and 11. 24 yard line rolls to the right oh and nearly picked off by the bulldogs that'll bring up fourth down for columbus eath columbus east 4th and 11. [Music] connor essex on the tackle five minutes 48 seconds in the second quarter oh and there's a timeout looks like they were trying to get number 43 john feif on the field and olympians will take a timeout here at stafford field saturday morning beautiful day it's been one of the hottest august that i can remember yes it is beautiful but it's also hot as one of our fellow camera crew up here and one of the things that's it's been really cool is to get to work with you know talented volunteers that are you know they're they're giving their time their energy their effort their talent and um up here in the in the booth we've got columbus east and columbus north um as well as one of our north students helping out with video and just want to say a special thanks to them [Applause] number 58 neil likens getting the student section for columbus north into it fourth and 11.

he's going to make two guys missing bildeman and wetzel but he only gains another five yards before he's brought down by a couple more eagles so uh 60-yard punt and a 50-yard punt good job for a kid like that built them in there um that's that's one of those those things where you try to make a big play because you only some of these guys are only on kickoff for only on punt so that's your time to go make your name go go make a big play and he almost did there he got down the field faster than anybody else on the columbia punt team but broke down forced him back inside but see a lot a lot of guys over the years dylan hildebrand and some guys that were just on kickoff teams and that would come down and just hit you and make a huge difference and get the ball right back for the offense and makes a huge difference the scooter is going to start at the 15-yard line waiting to get the chain set there was a penalty on the play i believe that he had it up to about the 20.

east back to punt i just recommend just kick it out of bounds don't let scruggs get it well [Applause] oh end over end and east recovers the punt i'm sure that wasn't part of the play now part of me wants east to kick it to scruggs because i want to see him run it back he's very talented but the other part is me just being a strategic person you don't you don't want to give one of their best players an opportunity to run it back [Applause] but i'm sure that wasn't the intention there to have a shorter punt but the bulldogs i'm sure are thankful as they start in east territory hammonds hands it off the redmond runs it up to the right side keeps motoring and a great run by dylan redmond six yards up the gut for redmond hammond's in the shotgun motion comes from the left side that's cast deader but he goes back oh hammond's quarterback keeper met by definitely chase harrison was one of them graduate parker harrison his brother was always in ball hawking making tackles and chase is picking up the heat this year oh and another costly mistake for the olympians offsides which will give the bulldogs a first down hammond's in the shotgun redmond to his right hammons keeps it and keeps running through near a first down [Music] coach is up here in the press box urging the bulldogs to keep the pressure on i'm not sure if they can hear them up here but hammonds hand off to redmond redmond keeps running and met by number 14 rocco duffy on the tackle but not before another columbus north first down and early on it's all bulldogs cast setter motions left hammond's in the shotgun looks to the left oh passes the cast center again and it's another cast that are touchdown [Applause] cast etter and hammonds have linked up twice now [Applause] [Music] and that'll be 13 to zero for the bulldogs they're gonna kick it yep extra point try now and it's 14 to nothing [Applause] cass setter with another touchdown [Music] [Applause] early on the bulldogs and the olympians have showed shown nerves understandably so on the northeast rivalry game but the experience of hammonds and cass eddard has come through twice and that resulted in touchdowns [Applause] two minutes 52 seconds left in the second quarter 14 nothing bulldogs over the olympians nice job offense as i mentioned earlier north has been has swept the olympians so far in each of the match-ups and they're off to a strong start here in the football game chase zaffy and beau wagner back to receive for the olympians bulldogs always do an interesting formation to start sometimes they have done an onside kick from it but more times than not they usually go back and get in their straight line and and kick it deep we'll see what they do here and kind of a s low knuckle ball zaffy with the return [Applause] leads the olympians back to around the 30.

penalty on the play dropped it back to you 15. [Applause] number 42 comes running on late he's going to play the full back quarterback under center turn around hand the ball off to the running back he's just going to power his way right up the middle gain five brought down by three or four eagles looks to be oh j.e mistler and owen brewer in on the tackle so now they've been spread spread spread now they're taking it out and they're going to go under center [Applause] same formation once again for the indians they're going to hand the ball off up the middle and he's not going to get anywhere who's that lineman that's just now getting up number 52. jason kaczynski took on two defensive offensive linemen and made the tackle yeah he's not the biggest guy out there you look out there he's probably as big as don bailey's taller than so you look out there or jason kaczynski he's the smallest guy on that d-line but he's the nose guard don't have to be big you just got to be mean and nasty brings up a third down in five looks like saigon's gonna be blitzing we're gonna have two linebackers saigon's gonna be coming in on the blitz it's gonna be a delay of game was it no false start you're right [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] did you just pat my head nope trips to the right side now for the indians single receiver number five down here closest to us running back on the right side now he's on the left side saigon still looks like he's going to put it's another penalty flag throwing another one falsely and another all-star on the offense you said that on that first drive that looked like they were moving a little a little early [Music] [Applause] that's already about four or five false starts for them quarterback once again just doing that little hand motion of just go he's gonna look to the right side he's gonna come back he's gonna have to scramble there's gonna be another penalty flag ball to the middle of the field and it's gonna be broken up great play number 30 elijah jarvis [Applause] and that's tough on those deep routes man as a cornerback and safety you have no idea where these guys are going and to stay in pursuit that long with a running quarterback that can create more time and create more space for his wide receivers to find the open spot and make a catch but great job by jarvis to stay and contain and keep a hand right on his receiver and make a great play penalty flag on the play was a holding penalty but with the incomplete pass coach horner declining declines the penalty and brings up a fourth down and 15 five minutes and five seconds remaining on the scoreboard scooter trying to get set up and it looks like they will call a time-out i mean they're all out of whack right now so we talked to coach warner like i said we do every thursday every thursday night at 6 30 up at aces wild we will do the holton meets coaches corner and uh it's something we that we did in the past we're trying to bring it back again just sit down talking x's and o's with coach warner and uh 21 years into it he said this is one of the better quarterbacks that he's seen and uh so far the quarterback we've mentioned him a bunch and we've already said it he's pretty much doing like you said he's extending plays he's making plays and he's causing some headaches right now but yeah coach horner likes those running quarterbacks i mean he had a son that was one and he everyone he's ever coached has almost been running i don't know about were you a running quarterback alex could you run a little bit no no no but like i said like over the past couple years you've seen more teams even pro teams college teams it's like the game is evolving and i just think having a guy like that where it puts your defense so much more in a bind and it makes so much it makes things so much harder for the defensive lineman and linebackers because these quarterbacks out here are running four four four five forties i mean so i mean that's hard to keep up with but um i just think coach warner loves having a running quarterback like don vagely and um and he's been working on his arm working on his strength in the off season so see if he can throw a couple deep passes here and a little bit to get some more points up on the board come back onto the field now the moscuta coach is talking to the white hat at about the 25-yard line not really sure what that's about that's a massive referee about a head taller than everybody out on the field so i guess the mosquito coach heard what he wanted to hear or maybe the official just said hey this is what i'm going to tell you and you're going to like it so we're going to get back to the action now the scooter's got fourth down and 15 gonna be punting hunter is about two yards deep in his end zone and he shanks it off of his shin and it's going to be caught by coach germain at the 21 yard line where it officially goes out no i'm sorry it's a 26.

two minutes 40 seconds left in the second quarter and i just want to give you guys a shout out one more time thank you for everyone tuning in to the live stream we just hit over 400 devices watching at one time oh look at some stats here we've had over a thousand different devices tuning in so far and that's just a testament to the support of this columbus community oh wow very nice play there from the olympians but it didn't result in much yardage kind of a a touching tip from duncan to number 15 roland ryan seen a couple of those um whether in college or the pros nice play but didn't result in much yardage [Applause] flag on the play false start by the olympians [Applause] it's really been the story so far for the olympians just unforced errors i know coach vogel will definitely be talking to his team about that in the locker room at halftime i know discipline has always been something that's been that he's preached oh once again bulldogs in the backfield for a sack [Applause] bryant trinkle with the sack timeout on the field brian trinkle's been having a heck of a game sacking the quarterback in the backfield a couple times sack's been as duncan has rolled left but this time he was rolling right and trinkle tracked him down third and 15 ball on the 15-yard line one minute 24 seconds on the clock i'm hearing coaches wanting those extra two seconds on the clock and they got it it's one minute and 26 seconds now every second counts in this com crosstown confrontation it's going to be a busy day here on the bcsc youtube channel live streaming this rescheduled varsity northeast football game and then tonight at 7 p.m we will live stream the columbus north columbus east varsity boys soccer matchup at the new bcsc soccer complex make sure to tune in broadcast will officially begin at seven we'll probably go on a few minutes before if you aren't able to join in person third and 28 aka third and very long on the 15-yard line for the olympians we'll see what [Music] duncan has in store for us here and they continue to have clock controversy here trying to figure out the yep and they've got it resolved hopefully one minute 29 seconds [Applause] duncan with villarreal in the backfield and he keeps it runs to the right sees daylight but and has a has a good run running it out of bounds but not able to get close to a first down [Music] that'll bring up fourth down and another punt for the olympians [Applause] let's see if they kick it to jackson scruggs and north already successful so far with a 14-0 lead but you know it would definitely be a bonus to a good run here at the end and they kick it to scruggs scruggs runs to the right let's see if he gets blocking he does and he keeps running to the right here he goes oh and scrub jukes him left and right i'm telling you [Music] jackson scruggs is quite a runner he's been playing defense the whole time so far but he has made his presence felt as a punt and kick returner saw it last year and we've seen it here today he's really been an instrumental part of the bulldogs starting with good field position hammonds with dylan redmond in the backfield cass setter once again motions but comes back to the left side four receiver set oh oh fumble but the bulldogs come up with it one of the olympians read the play early and and made a an attempt at hammond's hamons was fortunate though to have that funnel recovered by his main man dylan redman hammond's back in the shotgun throws it right once again to keegan cast center [Applause] first down 41.6 seconds left near a first down third yep third down and four you know and regardless of which side you're on this is just a great scene glad to see this northeast rivalry game happening today haemons throws it left to cassette another perfect timing play and he's in the end zone once again for a touchdown [Applause] hammonds and cass center have been clicking all sun saturday morning another touchdown by the bulldogs keegan cass center have a day and extra point here is up and good bulldogs over the olympians [Applause] 35.3 seconds left in the second quarter and speaking as a former well as a bcsc graduate former bcsc student there's nothing better than having a great game against your arch rivals whether you're columbus north beating up on columbus east or columbus east giving it to the bulldogs and certainly keegan cassetter and luke hammonds have been outstanding here on this saturday morning these are the stories that you tell your kids someday about remember that game when luke hammonds and keegan cassette had three touchdowns in the first half yep they have done a great job in that two-man game so far here in the first half well let's see if the olympians can get something going at the end of this first half they really need to get some points on the board they need to get some momentum going in the second half and they showed early that they have the ability to do that with ethan duncan duncan hitting his teammate early logan christopher on that very first play and we'll see what what they can do with 35 seconds left in the second quarter [Music] cooper horn kicking for the bulldogs [Music] back to zappy he feels it on the run and a really nice run oh and met by one of the bulldogs great run though to get him started a little over the 35-yard line olympians will take over on the 37 yard line with 29 seconds left to go as a football fan i'd love to see them take a shot but they may time out on the field they may just down it we'll see though official time out on the field again shout out to all of you who have been supporting this live stream thank you for tuning in on this saturday morning got a pretty good crowd on both sides and whether you've been here in whether you were here last night and you couldn't make it this morning in person or just wanted to tune in as you're doing other saturday errands or chores i appreciate you taking time to support these student athletes 27 seconds is now going to be put on the board i think that was the official timeout trying to figure out the clock and and duncan hands it off to villarreal which will the clock will continue to run and looks like that might be the last play of this exciting and one-sided first half yep and the olympians will go into halftime [Applause] they will receive the ball in the second half and perhaps that's why they chose to go ahead and end try to forget this first half and move on to the second some of the highlights so far have been hammons and cass that are connecting on three touchdowns great defensive play from bryant trinkle a really nice play from ethan duncan to logan christopher on the very first play the first drive for the olympians and nearly a touchdown by dunkin running but but just one second folks but unfortunately duncan definitely i'm sure he heard the bulldogs coming after him and ended up fumbling the ball north really just showed discipline experience and poise during the first half and you know it's understandable the olympians showed some inexperience and you know hopefully just for everyone watching in both teams i know they put so much time energy effort into practice i hope that for all of us the olympians will come out and and keep this get this game a little closer but first half so far it has been all bulldogs 21-0 we're gonna go ahead and take a break we'll be back in just a little bit thanks for tuning in we've got 20 minutes a little less than 20 minutes left to go before the second half and we're back here at stafford field we've got eight minutes 38 37 seconds until the second half shout out to pat mckee who's keeping the stats for this game and he sent those to me so we're going to go ahead and and talk about the first half as you can see it's 21-0 um cast editor three of those well that was three touchdowns three touchdowns six catches for 96 yards cooper horn also had a reception for five yards and let's see here north has had eight first downs 19 rushes for 59 yards 101 passing yards so far hammonds has been eight of 10 on his completions total yards for columbus north 160 one fumble but it was not lost punts averaging 35 yards and only one penalty for 10 yards columbus east on the other side has had one first down so far and that was the very first play on that great pass from duncan to christophel passing yards 34 for columbus east ah pat mckee thank you so much he must be tuning in casstetter's third td was technically a run so appreciate that pat so hammond's has two touchdowns throwing and that uh that third touchdown by cass deader was considered a run appreciate you pat total yards for the olympians are 95.

goes out of bound at the 23. get in the end zone take advantage of these mistakes here i thought coach duran was going to get the end zone right there and take it to the house himself [Applause] never mind his knees give out on him after 24 seasons of coaching i guess grass anymore no i'm just kidding he does it every day don't don't re-watch this and get mad at me he still doesn't you should be out there now i know so columbia is going to come out with uh hey what'd you mention about uh mcconaughey getting in the backfield oh man mcconaughey in the backfield with jarvis gonna be with the motion man is mcconaughey he's gonna fake it you're gonna look deep it's gonna be a floater rocket hicks gotta put it in the spot dom just tried being a little too fine with that put a little error on that but you know what i love that carter hicks 6'5 and uh you got he's getting defensive backs out there that a little bit smaller carter loses a shoe comes off the field who came on number 14 colin saigon is the first receiver on as he's running to the wide side of the field doubles to the right side running back right sniffer background running back to the left side five seconds to go on the play clock pay attention gonna hand the ball off up the middle is gonna be jarvis he's gonna make one man miss get up the middle gain three yards had a pretty good push there by the offensive line and i like what we had mcconaughey and jarvis back there and you kind of use mcconaughey as a little decoy and throw them over to this side like like coach warner did kind of push honors play ball please third and seven watch the football mosquito they didn't offside it's gonna be a five yard penalty and now you got third down and two one thing we haven't seen yet is a dominic vaguely pull get everybody flowing with that running back oh it's coming right here third down 42 brandon jackson coming on the field looks like we're going to have the heavy set heavy glass a little heavy blast everybody knows what's coming yeah especially when we had those power backs like you knew it was coming whenever we got in this formation you you're lining up in this formation we're running right down your throat carter hicks is gonna be the leading fullback gonna be turn around hand the ball off to jarvis he's gonna find his two boys a follow in hicks and mistler and it's gonna be good for six yards stay on the field run it again look at coach kendall he's doing that he's doing the motion do it again do it again first down and goal for the eagles hurry up and get on that line get that defense on their on their heels [Music] four minutes remaining in the first quarter dom turns around hands the ball off running back jarvis is going to follow the big guys again good for another three yards do it again [Music] all you're doing there is wedging guys out and you're following a lead blocker that's all it is and if they haven't stopped it twice keep going until we get to that end zone and then sometimes you can pull it throw a little pass over over the top second down and four from the fourth ah this time it's good now they got the columbia eagle number 73 tom kenningstein loses his helmet he's going to have to come off the field and number [Applause] 75 joe kish coming in the sophomore 511 275 coming onto the field meganson coming on we're getting out of the heavy formation mcconaughey yelling up here columbia two minutes 59 seconds remaining in the first quarter and the seven seven ball game all named andy mcguire group scoreboard so what do you got here jared you got third down a goal from about the four and a half i think you're gonna spread spread it out a little bit i think you're gonna put put the balls on the right right half so i think you're gonna put trips left put three spread three defensive guys all the way out [Music] and um running back you want mcconaughey uh jarvis back there i'm just running a little rpo and a couple slants across the middle spread that spread the field out use the whole field that's what it's used for and with this timeout being called now you don't have to have kenningstein off the field so now you've still got your starting linemen out there too cause that could be a big factor as well so that was uh coach kendall running out to the officials right away as soon as the timeout was called he came back and he's turned back over the field so i agree though let your athletes make a play here don't try to do anything too fancy um take advantage of this bad punt that only netted i think eight yards yeah and the three or four fall starts that they were given to you so take advantage of this right now inside the five yard line so like we said the aces wild pregame show take advantage of the mistakes keep it clean they're not keeping it clean you got to take advantage of those mistakes especially in this week one game you don't know what to expect so uh get the points when you can columbia's gonna come out like jared said double stacked on the right side of the field looks like we're gonna have carter hicks is gonna just widen himself out throw it up to him it's one-on-one out there sniffer back in mistler he's going to cut across the formation it's going to be a fake place let your athletes make your [Applause] touchdown eyes eagles [Music] give me a coaching job [Music] thank you guys at columbia eagles touchdown let your athletes make the plays made two guys miss there was dominic vaguely before getting into the end zone and uh yeah give you a coaching job i mean that's all it was spreading the guys out a little rpo action fake the handoff to your running back and if there's a lane give it to him if there's not pull it let your athletes make plays good snap good hold kick is up and kick is good so that takes us now columbia 14 muscuda seven two minutes and 44 seconds on the clock we will head to a break and we will be back to the columbia multipurpose field after this welcome back ladies and gentlemen to this beautiful night in august here for the week one matchup between the columbia eagles and the muskegon indians starting to cool off a little bit i think [Music] this fall sport we're playing it in the summer and uh so far i was expecting some cramps or some tired guys out if you have these eight eight guys going both ways but columbia showing that they're resilient going through everything it's all that summer workouts all all that time that waking up at 5 30 6th morning that's when this is when it all pays off this season that you're uh everybody's been waiting for some sort of penalty on the scooter i guess did they line up offsides maybe we have replay up here yet maybe next year gotta run that i'm gonna assume that it would be an offsides penalty yeah most likely this official on this side of the field has enjoyed throwing his flag [Music] so dom tease it up five yards closer from the 45 now coach kendall standing down here talking to the official on this side it's gonna be a pooch kick and it's gonna be caught at the 22.
