[Music] all spotted at the 17-yard line third and short here for clifton third and two two receivers lined up left not on the right but we have six on the line up front ellis takes the snap handoff there goes the chance blunt and he's blown up at the 18 yard line loss of one fourth and three and there's a flag there and i believe it is on the comets or taunting and the crowd chanting at them you can't do that [Music] and there's two offsetting penalties here so clifton got a penalty and so he did it's fourth and two and once again clifton's offense staying back on the field going for it high formation one receiver lined up on the left ellis goes with the hands off and they're not going to get that one [Music] and that is a turnover on downs ball is at the 20-yard line clifton does not convert and out comes the offense or the comets clemson has a 27 nothing lead 8 13 left to go in this game [Music] is [Music] and now comes the comet's offense [Music] and he's gonna throw play action he's looking deep and that one is caught there what a play number 12 adrian king is gonna go all the way touchdown my comments adrian king with an 80 yard receiving touchdown and the comets get their first points on the board it's now 27 to 6.
maybe 30 if it was nope 15. so it's going to be a 15-yard penalty on the eagles so still have great field possession i wonder why that's only 15 if all of them are on us because the so the two flags were thrown for the one penalty so okay the roughing the kicker declined and then they just took the personal foul so i guess those two flags though were thrown for one [Applause] well so now they're gonna go back i guess see this is i was kind of confused on this this penalty happened during the play so it's gonna be a 15-minute penalty so it should still be fourth they're declining now they're gonna re-kick looks like they're gonna re-kick see i told you i was a little confused by it because it wouldn't i don't think it would you can't just get rid of the rough running into the kicker you can't just i mean i don't know i guess we're just doing a re-kick these refs don't even know what's going on so is that just a five-yard penalty yeah five yard penalty and a re-kick all right so we're going to try this again fourth down and we'll call it 17 for the explorers mcconaughey back deep [Applause] this time the punt gets off no penalty flags thrown yet it's going to bounce at the 40.
[Music] and they're gonna go for the extra point the kick is up and it is good and the comet score their first points in the game and clifton's lead is cut down now by seven they lead 20 and they lead by 20. it's 27-7 clifton and now they get [Music] [Applause] hmm [Music] so [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] 27 27-7 is the score the comments are going to go ahead and kick off to the mustangs here one man back to return the kick is up and they go for the onside kick and clifton recovers so it's clifton ball and i believe around the 40-yard line out comes the clifton offense yes the ball is placed at the 40-yard line first and ten over there kyle bellis and the rest of the clifton offense comes out onto the field after having a field day so far but there's still eight minutes left to go out we're exactly 754 left to go on this game let's see if they can keep it up let's see what happens here [Music] and it's not a bad thing if they score here again folks they always say it's never it's better to be safe than sorry so they're going to try and put up more points here pass here by velas to swayze swayze makes a nice move takes it up past the 40 brought down at the 42-yard line that's a gain of two there and it'll be second down and eight from the 42-yard line after a two-yard reception by donovan showtime swayze who's having an excellent day [Applause] second down and eight balls placed at the 42-yard line shotgun formation of ellis hands off there to maldonado he has a nice hole makes a nice move brings out past midfield and brought down at the 38 yard line [Music] and that's another first down for clifton three receivers lined up left one right clocks winding down 6 30 left to go in this game velas hands the ball off to jacob maldonado who makes a nice cut breaks a tackle and he brings that one up to about the 38 yard line solid game there [Music] so it'll be second and four now after a six-yard carry by jacob maldonado ball placed at the 38.
it's going to be all the way down to the 24. [Applause] i'd like to see mcconaughey get a little bit farther away from the ball there you never know where it's going to bounce yeah cause once you touch that that's a live ball so i don't think you i don't think you can advance it though off that can you what's that if mcconaughey were to touch it alt marquette can't pick it up and run you can just land on it i think it'd be a fumble i don't think you can advance it though after possession changes i thought it would just be acting like a fumble yeah making high school rules are different than saturday so let's get this eagles offense back on the field let's get him rolling again tight end left running back left running back in the pistol formation gonna be another quick out route to meginson that time it was just floated out there by vaguely and i'm gonna put that one on dom got a little complacent there throw it on the line put it in hey but as a receiver man if it hit your hands you got to grab it that's that's always that's always what my uh my thought process was behind that but yeah vaguely looked like he just kind of tossed that one over there to meginson meganson was coming fast out of his break a little bit behind him bring up second and 10.
mustangs break the huddle [Music] four receivers out on the field three developers left which means one to his right hand off there goes to brian feliciano number three and he'll bring that one up to the 30-yard line and pick up a three there third down and one for clifton [Applause] here we go third in a yard for clifton here feliciano in the backfield shotgun three receivers to villas left one to his right five people on the line he takes the snap handoff goes there and he's got well more than a yard he's got about three of them there and play is stopped and whistles being blown and that is a first down for clifton [Music] first and ten for clifton now the ball is placed at the 26 yard line less than five minutes left to go now 445 to be exact two receivers lined up on each side vellus snap hands off feliciano he heads up the middle brought down at about the 21 gain of four there second and six second and six here for the mustangs after another run by brian feliciano's had a pretty solid day [Applause] now that's maldonado in the backfield three receivers left one right swayze motions right so there's two receivers on each side handoff goes to maldonado he heads up the middle brought down at the 15.
trips to the left side running back to the left gonna be a roll out left dom's gonna look he's got meganson and it's going to be low and fall in complete bring up a third down to 10. [Music] [Applause] that's where it's tough to roll out to your left like that and kind of throw all the way across your body you could see vaguely even threw it a little low there right at meganson's feet [Applause] third and ten see what coach hunter has in store this time i think a little harco yeah four down nine minute two linebackers and a faithful handoff they're gonna throw back across the field mcconaughey's gonna catch it and he's gonna get slung down for a loss of five [Applause] yeah a little extra curricular after the play there got up in mcconaughey's face but did you see mcconaughey he was tapping the kid on the helmet like they were just talking yeah he's even a little bit confused right now you could see after he kind of threw mcconaughey down he got in his face a little bit mcconaughey didn't really retaliate or do nothing back to him and you saw two or three penalty flags fly at them [Applause] yeah because like you said even mcconaughey was looking around like why are those flags you know what i kind of like it though you're playing with a little bit of emotion you're playing with the chip on your shoulder so i'm not gonna be faulting anyone after the play personal foul defense first down eagles first down eagles [Applause] 15-yard penalty automatic first down i'll take it kaneki had nowhere to go that was a great play there by five another great open field tackle i mean mcconaughey at everywhere if he breaks that tackle he's got a long way to go i think um with the speed that he's got but great open field tackle there by number five but just an unlucky discipline penalty look over at the far side of the field the white hat is all the way over on the sideline i looked like he just ejected somebody and yep somebody's leaving you look over there somebody's walking off the field columbia is set up ready for the play because they did get a warning earlier correct they had a sideline [Applause] so marquette coach gets ejected on the play white hat comes across the field i guess he's going to have to explain to coach horner now [Applause] he's probably looking for mr reeves now [Applause] oh [Applause] eagles up 20 nothing with 11 21 here in the first half at columbia purpose field [Applause] welcome back ladies and gentlemen a lot going on there you get an injection you gotta have an administrator here and i had double microphones in my hands get an administrator to have the coach escorted off the field so now something like this could happen it could be a drive killer so you got to get that offense rolling again and get something moving i don't think we've had many negative plays negative yardage plays tonight so hopefully we can see this offensive line keep opening up lanes for our athletes to keep making plays plumbing you're going to go under center but not in the heavy set this time send a man in motion is mcconaughey fake the handoff we're looking down the middle of the field we got men all over but we don't have time and it's going to be a sack on the play we had saigon down the middle of the field and he was he'd still be running yeah and you had meganson he beat this corner too vaguely just didn't have that much time to and when you're coming under center like that it's hard to run all the way back and see the whole field because your eyes aren't your eyes aren't looking to where everything's opening up but man great play call everybody yeah coach horner pulling everything out tonight and i love it and then they're not used they got to give you got to let that quarterback get back there you're used to snapping the ball in the quarterbacks there so you got to give them an extra two seconds and you don't really see many guys like drop back like that i mean we didn't really get to see vaguely air it out right there but i mean whenever you drop back five step drop back i mean you have guys sometimes right in your face and it was a great job of him to be aware and at least be elusive and get out of a sack first down in a country mile gonna be a handoff to mcconaughey to the right side he's gonna bob and weave his way through he's gonna get a good positive yardage play that's gonna be good for 10.
gain a four or five there so they'll say it's a gain of four and they'll be third and he'll be a yard short of the first down so third and one [Music] third and one shotgun formation maltonado in the backfield two receivers on each of ellis's side five people up front on the line protecting him handoff goes someone there to try and blow it up he makes a nice move almost immediately ball's brought up to about the 14 and i believe he got enough [Music] and he did and it's a first down for clifton [Applause] first and ten here for clifton in the red zone two receivers on each of ellis's side shotgun formation hand off to jacob maldonado he makes a nice cut brought down at the 13 gain of about one second and nine two and a half minutes left to go in this game so we'll say that was two yards there second and eight for clifton [Music] two minutes left to go in the game second and eight maybe trying to put up another touchdown on the board two receivers on each side shotgun formation handoff to maldonado and he is tackled almost immediately brought down at around the 10.
at least give yourself a manageable second and 15 seconds [Applause] 10 minutes and 25 seconds away from the century 21 halftime show [Applause] deer in columbia four down lineman three linebackers and take a little bit of a slow snap gets back to the mcconaughey who's gonna run he's gonna gain three and that's about it bring up a third down to 12. nothing going on here comes a little play action i'm guessing [Applause] coach horner he just he knows uh his down and distance and he knows what plays he's just he's good at reading defenses and he knows what's going to be coming at him so look to see a little play action maybe a couple deep routes here from the trips to the left start of that [Music] timeout [Applause] so we've got 9 34 remaining we're going to send it to a break and we will be back right after this welcome back ladies and gentlemen for the third down and 13.
[Music] third down and five for clifton one minute left to go in the game and they let the clock wind down they call a timeout here and 47 seconds remaining clifton calls a timeout and with 47 seconds left i think it is safe to say that clifton has taken the win here they lead they're leading 27-7 with 40 47 seconds left i mean an excellent job on both sides of the ball especially to donovan swayze specifically who had two touchdowns this game a pick six and a return kick kyle villas with that great passing touchdown to brian feliciano i mean overall just a great game jacob maldonado got in the end zone for six as well made three of our four extra points of special teams other than the return kick we did pretty well very far good kickoffs clifton did an excellent excellent job and i know coach zinke is going to be happy with the performance of the guys today when it's all said and [Music] here we go vellus hands off to maldonado he makes a move brings it up past the ten down at the nine gain of one [Music] clock winds down after that run and both teams are going off the field and five seconds are left in this game the crowds applauding the mustangs and the mustangs go to 2-0 [Applause] [Music] [Applause] and the clifton mustangs take the win here straight advance to 2-0 over the hackensack comments they lead they win 27-7 excellent game played by them i'm your voice in the mustangs vince the chancellor go mustangs yes [Music] so
first time that we've been in this spot tonight see what coach horner has drummed up trip to the left side running back right vagley's looking to the left he's got a guy in the middle of the field meganson right play meginson by going up getting the football and taking away from the explorer defender [Applause] trips on the defensive side of the ball can be so hard because you have that opposite safety that could come over you have a linebacker that sometimes has to guard the inside guy and then you have this corner that's guarding the outside guy so i mean having a linebacker just matched up with one of those quicker guys and more athletic guys it makes it so much easier for the offense to win that battle every time great job there by meganson to win the ball and high point it get the first down gonna be a bootleg to the right side he's gonna throw across his body i don't like that he's gonna fall in complete yeah he threw that without even looking over what was over there [Applause] great job there by meganson to kind of stay in number five's way though so second down to ten i was just about to say when do you take a chance he's got dominant vaguely he's got strong enough to put it in the end zone i'm wanting to see h up i want to see mcconaughey motion up to right behind the tackle and then just run straight down the middle of the field and vaguely just hit him on a seam rope i think that would be touchdown right now there's no one else in the middle of the field besides that number nine one safety back there pistol back mcconaughey gonna be the motion he's gonna be your decoy nope we're going to throw to him he's going to make a couple men miss he's fun to watch let's move it moving kyle attaboy good for another 15 yards but kennedy flag in the area of the hole that's some pretty footwork right there by mcconaughey he's just smooth after he is he's always been like he caught the ball right there and just in fluid motion and just everything just came as he was running like he was just just looks everything's in fluid motion so it's going to be a 10-yard penalty i believe it's going to be meghan's in there you look at coach amsterdam now down talking to him coach amazon always has that ipad he's got replay at the touch of a button so if you're going to tell him i didn't hold that i don't think that's the coach i'm going to be saying coach i didn't hold this i got the film right here yeah coach anthony he'll show you a hold if he wants to so it's going to be a 10 yard penalty it's going to bring up second and 15 now 15 yard gain is going to be a nullified i can't even shake that man's hand without feeling my hand's gonna break gonna be under centered gonna be double tight we're gonna call it motion man in mcconaughey we're gonna hand it to him this side he's gonna run he's gonna get a couple men to miss he's gonna keep his feet moving good for a 12-yard gain we'll call it 11 officially and the sweet play works to bring up a manageable third down and four and that's a formation that we haven't seen all year i know we used to run that formation whenever i played i don't know if you guys did but coach horner has all these formations that he can just throw at you and that makes it so hard for defenses especially if you've never seen it before um you have guys that don't know really where to line up so great job by coach warner to throw different formations at him and keep the defense on their heels this whole game columbia goes tempo this time they get into the line of scrimmage try the hard count of time because we've only had five seconds on the play clock to get their down call here good job there by coach [Applause] third and four another good drive by the eagles defense we haven't said anything bad about a drive yet as the eagles lead this one 20 to zero and the mandy maguire scoreboard 7 31 remaining in the first half once again i think that must be truly from time that's the that's the key so good stuff going here tonight at the point being multi-purpose fit so talk a little bit more about the blue jays you played every year that you were every year kindergarten through eighth grade what was your favorite game favorite game probably eighth grade year playing at redbud winning the championship game because they beat us first game of the year and came back and beat them at their place so that was probably my favorite blue jay game i think it was this wednesday the little guys came out so they don't have any hash marks painted up here in town yet so they came down here to use the hash marks and i was talking to a couple of the guys and they're like these little guys are running around not having a clue what's going on you're telling them they're under the ash they're going to the numbers and they're trying to put in all the uh the basic stuff that you don't really think about up here at this level yeah you got it that's where it starts man teach them somewhere yeah cause i remember back in the day we even had i mean coach horner and coach germain they would he would come to our practices because i mean sam and nick played i played so they would really come to our practices and relay all these offensive and defensive schemes that we have and they would carries on all the way up through high school third and four gonna be a straight run with the quarterback vaguely to the left side he's got to get to the sticks and he does and he's gonna smartly get out of bounds at the 33 and a half yard line good for another eagles first down as he was coming towards the sideline i didn't know if he was going to beat that defensive end but man he's he's got some speed on him and he just knows how to how to get where he needs to go great job there by vaguely to turn the corner and get up field and get out of bounds for a first down first and ten ball at the explorer's 34-yard line i keep calling mistler the uh sniffer back he guess you'd probably call him a running back this week because he's closer to vaguely going to be another bootleg he's got misleader to the right side vega is going to have to keep it and run he's going to get eight he's going to get at least the first down he's going to keep his feet moving lower the shoulder on that far sideline and get another clumbeagles first down on a good run on that right side that bootleg he's got to make a decision right away if he's going to throw it to mistler and he had meganson would have been a tougher throw he decided to tuck it and run and still get another 15 yards and another positive play for the eagles [Applause] he's going to be a stat sheet stuff for this week columbia enters the red zone now officially at the 16 yard line meganson to the short end of the field i'm sorry that's hooks to the short end of the field on the right side gonna be another run to the left though he's going to follow mcconaughey he's gonna get in the way of a guy just enough to get about seven yards and there's going to be an injured explorer on the play [Applause] during the century 21 halftime show we will have dustin rowlett to talk songs for soldiers which comes up a week from now as we look down underneath us there's uh three little blue jays walking in front of us right now so that was neat like i said wednesday they get to come out practice here i believe later in the season we're gonna have blue jay night where we've had the blue jays run out with the team under the tunnel we've had the blue jay guys make the tunnel too so always neat getting the little brothers to come up here and this is what they're gonna be one day so cool to get them involved yeah and i mean i remember every friday night whenever i was doing water boy every every week i mean some of these guys i remember playing blue jays below me like they were like three or four years younger than me so it's just now it's so weird seeing some of these guys like play high school football and um whenever i used to watch him back in blue jay days like i remember london little like he already graduated and he in blue jays he was scoring like seven eight touchdowns a game and now he's already graduated so it just shows you like time goes fast and columbia football i mean they keep you ready for years to come i mean they get you going from kindergarten and they keep you ready all the way till your freshman year and i think that's a very special thing about columbia football as as a whole program and the blue jays and eagles always just being a being a great program talking to coach horner last night in the holton meets coach's corner and he said you know you're only guaranteed nine games at this point of the season you know and now you're only guaranteed seven so he was that was the message he said he was trying to portray to the kids you know you might think we have all the time in the world but these tonight's quick yeah and i believe in uh the boys at fall music video i think they say that sean payton he goes they go by they go by they'll go by so and all those i mean all those summers and all those i mean all the times you hate waking up at six in the morning to come up here and run sprints and lift weights and just run practice against your own guys um but i mean i know me and you could probably both say it ourselves i would go back any day and just to come out here on a thursday practice and then get ready for a friday night game like it's just something everybody every football kid dreams about so yeah i'll come out on the thursday afternoon yeah there's thursday afternoon uh practices were pretty laid back and those those monday afternoons when you're running spirit sprints and for anybody that doesn't know 40 yard sprint jog back 40 yard spin jog back 50 yard sprint drop back all the way down to 100 yeah and i always thought the sprint was the easy part it was that jog back that killed dude and when it got to like 60s and 70s you're just dog tired and then you have to after you're done with that and you've got to listen to what the other team runs and you're just dog tired don't even want to listen to the coaches but [Applause] good to see alt marquette player on his feet under his own power [Applause] big loss there for alton as their starting center as well something we haven't talked about tonight you know last week vaguely was seemed like he was scrambling a lot more than normal and uh you know our line tonight vaguely scrambled when he's had to because we're doing bootlegs he's had protection tonight other than the one play action where we wanted to go down the middle of the field so i don't know what was said this week to the linemen but they're doing a heck of a job here in the first half a given quarterback and running back mcconaughey some lanes to run and some time to throw the football it looks like columbia is going to go heavy formation for the second down and three from the nine just under seven minutes remaining here in the first half heavy to the left side this time legally under center turns around hands the ball off to mechanic he's gonna have to make one more mistake he makes two guys nice goes into the end zone untouched for a columbia eagles touchdown [Applause] all right what's that two for him on the night begley's got two i'm guessing [Applause] saigon vaguely once again for the p-18 this time towards the wilderness slow snap handled by saigon who gets it up and vagley gets it through the uprights that'll take tonight's scoreboard a little bit of space to get through that little hole and they can make the rest work with their feet a great job by the offensive line but it's a great job if you can get it one more time done sealing that edge and like you said it's a banana block out of hicks and it's a great job though by all the wine once again to extend the score columbia 27 and pet zero with 6 44 remaining on the corey pharmacy scoreboard he had to kind of be a multi-purpose field there goes my prediction your prediction is gone i'm still i'm still alive i didn't think our offense be rolling like this man all starts up front and up front our lineman looked so good tonight and they're moving their feet getting to their blocks and getting our guys in the end zone and go out of bounds will take over at the 22.
[Applause] [Music] this drive for alton you look at their linemen they are some solid individuals out there yeah they got some big guns up there but our defense alignment have answered the challenges that the coaches gave them and they're doing themselves a heck of a job here tonight not allowing very many positive clothes out of all right [Applause] [Music] [Applause] he's 30 yards deep these rats are even walking around come on pick up the ball [Music] [Applause] version 15. [Applause] see if we can get a safety or a bad snap here double slow left side sniffer back left pistol back gonna be a quick out route and they have to be brought down by number 12 vaguely and he wraps them up and it's a slew of eagles gonna be 55 jackson 12 vaguely brewers out there and i think mcconaughey as well mistlers out there meganson's out there like to see that game tank and on those outside flare routes i mean when you have a guy like don begley he's pretty good at making open field tackles but um when you look across the board i mean you got mcconaughey you got denny and you got zach wetzel out here i mean all these guys have shown themselves even on the kickoff team and they can make tackles in the open field and that's that's a tough thing to do as a cornerback gonna be a run this time to the left side running back's going to get his way through he's going to run into the fall though number 73 tom kenningstein got a hand on him he's going to gain probably eight will give him but it's still gonna bring up a third down and eight great job by tom sticking that ball out there [Music] [Applause] third and seven 5 30 remaining in counting in the first half here of week three action [Applause] three down lineman three linebackers mcconaughey reads run and he reads the run and he's gonna blitz and it's gonna be brought down by a ton of eagles [Applause] led by number two carter hicks and 65.
owen brewer fourth down looks like the punt team is going to come out for alton marquette [Applause] flock of eagles officially getting the tackle out of mr winners we might see if we can have one of the spotters come down and we'll interview them as they come back for the first time in eight years [Applause] eagles lining up in what's to be their blue block here they're going for the football and they're going to get back there sam denny avoids the punter this time gonna be caught by mcconaughey he makes one man miss he's got the left side of the field he's going to try to reverse [Music] that's something he likes doing a lot isn't he whenever he sees a guy up ahead of me he's like oh god i think i can reverse field and then he's got guys coming behind him that he already juked so but great job there uh it just shows he's got great vision he sees the field really well and he's got great feet and mcconaughey can just fly on a dime so fast so the eagles are four minutes and 20 seconds away from the century 21 halftime show where the band will be performing here if you're coach warner you're going to try to eat a little bit of clock before you get into the end zone or you're just getting in the end zone [Applause] i mean you've been running the ball really good all night so why not keep it on the ground a little bit doubles to the left side into the boundary gonna be a fake handoff vagley's gonna keep it he's gonna get behind his blockers he's going to make one man miss and stiffer him another and he's going to gain 14 yards and it's going to be good for another columbia eagles first down even though he went out of bounds there i think that was carter hicks on this side once again great job with the stalk block out of him and miss her boat [Applause] anthony's standing over the ball great job with the snaps this year so far doubles to the right side we're going to go doubles all around bagley's looking to the left side and it's going to be dropped once again just trying to be a little too cute and float the ball up there [Applause] just trying to baby it and he's just trying to aim it there aim it throw it don't name it [Applause] it's only a junior too so we'll see next year a lot of these mistakes that he makes see if he can recap on those next season but tonight he's looked a lot better than he has the rest of the season gonna be a run this time to the right side iconic he's trying to cut to the left side he's gonna trip up on the play number 65 there that's a big 55 that's a big boy that you're gonna be running yeah he literally just picked him up after he tackled him good sportsmanship there by alt marquette so third down and 10.
columbia hadn't been in this spot very much the one time that we were in it he did convert really good game though [Applause] trips bunch to the right side running back to the left baker's going to have a deeper out and it's going to be underneath though to megan he's going might have to bring the index card out for that one check the first down nope they're giving it to them that was a good job though by vaguely you know meganson sat down in the middle found an open void so good job by meganson yeah and to get up field after he caught it too still had about five or six yards to go after he caught the ball so great job there by meganson to get some yards after catch some yak means first down in 10 from the explorer's 23-yard line mcconaughey the motion we're going to fake it to the outside we're going to try to look into the deep ball and picks and he's in the end zone good for columbia eagles touchdown [Applause] [Music] [Applause] oh [Applause] great job by hicks they're having to fight off the defender who is almost yeah he almost fell around the 20 or 15 yard line a great job to stay on your feet yup defended him tightly and carter just said i got to go get this football real quick you stay back here [Applause] saigon for the hold vaguely for the p.a.t high snap gets it down kick is up and kick is good so that takes it good for columbia eagles touchdown [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] good job there by hicks going up high pointing the football and not dropping it that was one of those nobody was around yeah and a good seller by vaguely to give a little pump fake to mcconaughey out of the backfield and then just let it rip all the way to the end zone great great pass great throw great play call great all around as jared mentioned earlier we're gonna have some tired cheerleaders and i think if my math is done correctly we're at 101 push-ups for the night in the first half [Applause] 249 remaining in the first half as vaguely gonna go low this time it's going to bounce it to 20.
and then be touched at the 11. now columbia's got five guys down there we got to keep containing they do once again and it's going to be good for only about six yards [Applause] good job by the coaching staffs getting the players off the field looked like chase to crazy and another player on the marquette the ball was all the way on the other side of the field and these two were just on top of each other just going at it [Applause] good job by carter hicks though to kind of get in the middle of there break it up a little bit you had to see a couple coaches run out there on the field but you see flags all over the turf right now the only thing i would like to see carter do they did a great job defusing the situation but pull your guy back yeah pull your guy back don't push there we go that just looks bad it looks like you're going after their guys so i'm all for him protecting his player but protect your player don't go after the other one [Music] so this could be a game that you see every week now hurt every week every year so you're going to have a little bit of a rivalry story you're getting ejected too [Applause] 24 down here looks like he is looks like number 24 chase de crazy's walking off the field let's see what the other marquette player does is he getting he should be i mean i don't know how coach horner's got his hands up right now like he doesn't know where he's going [Applause] who knows where chase is going so alton's going to take over oh yeah you see 32 over there on their sideline he got his helmet taken away too so they must have both got ejected rejected three ejections tonight last ejection i remember at columbia was tyler dylan high stepping into the end zone what was it that was uh he got kicked out the next week too didn't he for the first quarter yeah it's like central yeah so he would have been injected for his freebird the week i think it was free yeah he high-stepped into the end zone off here to our right going into the td going into the scoreboard there but that happened after he made a tackle and there was a little extracurricular so he had the first person to foul and then any high school yeah yeah and you got to know ty you got to know tyler dillon you got to know that guy to understand what he was doing that for but these refs are still talking about what happened on that kickoff looks like everything's going to offset and it's just going to be a first down wherever the ball was tackled at right at around the 18 yard line look over at the chain gang they're gonna start with a first and twelfth looks like alfie longrell standing there coach is over talking to his player looks like he's going to be walking his way off the field as well [Applause] so now we got a first down intent set with the chain game chase didn't have anyone walk with him he walked straight to the locker room [Applause] did you see them going at it i saw him going at it here at the bottom part of the field they said then there's a hicks come running in yeah actually that's all the coaches are all for separating trying to diffuse but diffusion separate your guys as highlighter night good student section orange green yellow red all types of sporadic colors got a good selfie in there too come on reps we're waiting for that player to get off the field now what do they think he's going to rush on the field and i don't know he's walking off with an coach [Applause] well we talked a couple weeks ago about how we had a slow game a long game we're right here at it again tonight so first down in 10 2 42 remaining in the first half doubles to the right side for alton they're going to hand the ball off to the right side and it's going to be carter hicks in the backfield right away and they're going to get nothing out of it good job by hicks swarming the football right there and stopping it behind the line of scrimmage that slowed this game down a little bit gonna give them a gain of one [Applause] same formation four marquette three linemen for the eagles with three backers mcconaughey's gonna drop back into coverage after showing blitz and he's gonna nearly intercept the ball you just set it there and you said it earlier tonight great job downfield coverage by our defensive backs this evening yeah you had zach wetzel here he was in coverage that whole time on uh in the flat and he kind of passed the guy there his guy ran a go route so there he had to pass the guy off to uh who was that denny and he sat there in the flat mcconaughey was there in the flat as well and great job by the secondary tonight all the way around i mean haven't we've allowed maybe what maybe one one or two first downs if that overall this defense looks a lot better than they did last week letting up almost 400 overall yards so great job by this defense tonight they're down in nine for the explorers into another penalty and another delay of game here on the explorers to bring up a third down in 14.
[Applause] [Music] [Applause] third down and 14. now you're only going to get 25 seconds on that play clock to get a play off [Applause] stick around for the century 21 halftime show as we now have a timeout on the field so we're going to send it to a break and we'll bring you the final minute 58 when we come back after this [Applause] for the explorers from their own 15 and it's going to be a blitz out of mcconaughey and did he jump a little early he did he had the cadence figured out he's a half step too soon he's running in there his head must have been crossed too early it's all right so the offsides is going to be a five-yard penalty bring up a third down to nine but i love it coach he's bringing the blitzes he was flying in there too he's got everything rolling right now [Applause] come on let's get a little fumble [Applause] let's force a fumble here third and nine now from the 20 minute 56 remaining in the first half doubles the right side sniffer back right running back as a pistol gonna be a pass to the right side they're gonna look out here and it's gonna be tipped and it was hanging in the air good job by mcconaughey getting over there and saigon to bring up a fourth down and nine you might be able to get in the end zone one more time yeah and that'd be uh good enough for that that clock to keep running so i think coach horner's definitely got that in the back of his mind as the last two weeks that's happened to him so i bet he's got that definitely in the back of his mind that he wants to score 40 here before he goes to halftime let's see a punt return touchdown i mean he's been so close on these kick returns and punt returns he needs to bust one of these mcconakey's going to set up at his own 45-yard line is marquette's going to run a guy onto the field now [Applause] as a final blocker looks like we're going to have a blue block again off to that right side then you're going for the football get back there again as denny and everybody avoids the punter a good punt bounces at the 49 and it's gonna go out of bounds at the columbia 45 so i'd like to see this evil offense try to get into the end zone one more time and uh you get the football coming out at halftime this is where vaguely can show off his arm a little bit i mean like a two minute drill we still got i think two timeouts so um see if vaguely can get us downfield and punch another one in the end zone to get us to 40.
take a shot on the first play i would i'm running a little hurricane i know not a lot of people know what that means but i know alex knows what it means i like it let's just say folks it goes deep so sniffer back left is mistler we're going to go doubles into the boundary to the right side running back left behind mistler is mcconaughey lone man by himself down here is hicks and it's going to be a run play to mcconaughey he's going to have to make a man miss he's got four guys trying to tackle him he gets 16 and it's going to be a first down for the eagles once again keeping this drive moving should have slammed in at 30 remaining i should have put that ball in the opposite hand and use that right arm to stiff arm still good enough for a first down clock is ticking ball at the 41 yard line same formation once again this time it's on the left hash we're gonna hand the football off no it's a fake and it's floated over the top hicks was the intended receiver that play action there forced that safety to come up yeah because he sees run and then you got a big guy like carter hicks going across the middle but vaguely threw it a little bit too high for how tall is he listening six five six five he's got a whole foot on me hicks coming in six five two ten junior same formation again gonna hand the ball off up the middle this time it's gonna be brought to the left side gonna go out of bounds good awareness boy did carter hicks get lucky he almost had a holding penalty on that player ball goes out of bounds let's stop the clock bring up third down and four from the 35.
it's not exactly hard you just got to know how long you need to just to get your guy just enough time and i think that's what coach horner expresses to his wide receivers on stock block and just give him enough time to make a play doubles vaguely looks to the left he finds meganson he finds him for a first down did he get out of bounds he did and that's going to stop the clock great job drew meganson fighting to get out of bounds that was a three-second play there and like like we've said all night those corners are playing so far off all takes a little two-three yard out and vaguely with his quick release he can get the ball in these receivers hands so quick where they can make a play on these corners are still seven eight yards off of the receivers first down in 10 for the eagles from the explorer's 29-yard line and you go doubles h up you got your wish jared he's gonna fly out right down the middle of the field you want to bet no betting in sports no voting in sports there it is down the middle of the field for mcconaughey he's got it at the five he's got it into the end zone for columbia eagles touchdown sign me coach horner [Music] jared gets his wish he gets h up action he gets a touchdown down the middle of the field it's such an easy game isn't it joe he's got to spread the field out coach warner knows doing it for a long time so that takes it to eligible for a running clock here in the second half h up [Applause] good snap good hold kick is up and it is good coach warner must have the broadcast on his earphones i remember he must have heard me say that i think he's got it at the five he's got it into the end zone for columbia eagles touchdown the field he's got it at the five he's got it into the end zone for columbia eagles touchdown sign me coach horner for he's got it at the five he's got it into the end zone for columbia eagles touchdown sign me coach [Applause] [Music] horner jared gets his wish he gets h up action he gets it 41-0 in the first half wow so that takes the mandy maguire group scoreboard columbia 41.
zero my predictions out your predictions been out wanna have new projections uh by halftime [Applause] let us know where you're listening from it's week three action as vaguely sends it deep and it's going to be caught at the 11 number 13 is going to bring it up the field he's going to try to stay down the sideline and he does good job by mcconaughey there he was going in and came out forced the guy out of bounds at the 35. [Applause] during halftime we will send it to the band and watch their performance and then we will have dustin raul up josh turner and night ranger josh turner friday night night ranger on saturday they have one famous song that i think i know he's about to say i don't know if i heard the song i think i knew it but i don't i can't think of it on the top of my head i only listened to rap alex we discussed that a couple of years ago oh i know that was a long run to say there's an even longer ride with jared hey as long as i play my justin bieber it's all right that's like their third or fourth delay we have sister christian coming in at the number one song and after that put that phone down but josh turner i can name off some bangers that he has first down in 15 54 seconds remaining in the first half doubles to the right side sniffer back to the right he's going to be the intended target it's going to be intercepted by kyle mcconaughey he's going to get down the left sideline he's going to get in for another columbia eagles touchdown [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] i don't know where mcconaughey came from but he had that place [Applause] and he's playing linebacker tonight too so you don't see linebackers with that much speed i'll tell you that coach jermaine i like the changes you made this week they're paying off [Applause] soaring high tonight great snap hold is good the kick is good and that takes the corey pharmacy scoreboard with 45 seconds remaining on it 48 to nothing it's going to be intercepted by kyle mcconaughey he's going to get down the left sideline he's going to get in for him gonna be intercepted by kyle mcconaughey he's gonna get down the left sideline he's gonna get in for another columbia eagles touchdown [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] and they're going to be making tackles but great job to be aware of falling back to the flat there by mcconaughey and flying to the football and taking it to the house first i think third touchdown of the night at least the third hey you know what that's good he's had two weeks to rest it up yeah you're right never see him come off the field though last week waterloo's kicker outscored the uh the whole columbia team now it's our turn they booming kick received at the six number five is going to let the play happen in front of him and that's a good job by number five showing patience and great tackle there by vaguely after a 40-yard return great job there by number five he just let the play happen he didn't try to force anything [Applause] he let his guys get some blocks that just reminds me vaguely making that tackle um a couple years ago whenever greg long would kick off if he ever most of the time he'd put it in the end zone where it'd be a touch back but if he didn't greg would still be flying down the field trying to make a tackle and this dude would literally put his whole head into your head and he would not care so great job there by vaguely to just stick his nose i mean as a kicker stick your nose in there and make a play because you're known to be a safety whenever you're a kicker on that kickoff team not our kickers our kicker's a gun for you doubles are the right side in the boundary 38 seconds remaining sniffer back right running back's a pistol it's going to be a handoff up the middle to him he's going to get about five or six yards [Music] he's doing a good job just putting his head down he's running the football hard and that might be the last play of the quarter nope they're going to do a little bit of hurry up here as we're under 20 seconds away don't go anywhere we will bring the century 21 halftime show to you from the columbia multi-purpose field as another run play goes up the middle good for three of the four that needed and i believe that will take us into that century 21 halftime show and what a half here by the eagles columbia leads the mandy maguire scoreboard 48 to nothing we're gonna send it to a break and we will be back with the columbia marching eagles halftime show after this [Applause] your household [Music] [Applause] is [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] i [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] so [Applause] foreign [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] so [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] um [Music] [Applause] [Music] now foreign wow [Applause] oh [Applause] rollins [Applause] oh [Applause] oh [Music] 321 halftime show here at the columbia multi-purpose field where the eagles currently lead at 48 to nothing we have the honor with having dustin row the founder of songs for soldiers up here with us tonight dustin thanks for coming up and uh i know you got a busy week ahead of you so thanks for taking some time out and coming up and talking to us this is one of my favorite things to do we're not lying what did we do this about four or five years ago we had you up here well we had we got bench last year we didn't do the show so i would say a couple years before that yeah before that so yep for sure well you're getting a lot of tv time now i mean you go from fox 2 this morning to now you're here so i mean you're getting all sorts of tv time if you want we can flip that camera around we put it on no no no no no no no all right no man well if you're going to do something people got to know about it so you got to get out there and do it and you have an awesome organization and like we were just talking you know you can't get to where you are today without getting out and people helping so hopefully here everybody's listening get a little help and we'll start off let's go back 20 years ago yeah you said you were sitting in class on september 11th and it's funny i mean i was in second grade whenever it happened i was gonna ask that you you know exactly where you were i can tell you i was in ms worsham's class but go back to september 11th of 2001.
i remember it being like a very nice day i was a senior columbia here at columbia high school i graduated that following year 2002 and i had just signed my army contract in june 2001. so i was i had signed it three months before the attacks had happened and i was doing this thing called the delayed entry program so your senior year counts towards the year of your enlistment right so you join and your parents got to sign off and but i was just thinking this is great just reserves it's not gonna be a big deal it'll be fine you know and then i remember coming out of uh probably whatever first hour was walking into mr nail's class who's taught government class funny enough and he just had this like ghost look on his face looking up at the tv monitor when when they were remember the box tv monitors that were mounted like watch channel one on channel one yeah wow and so uh anyways um he's like hey guys just sit down i mean it was like a movie and then so we were sitting there watching this the building on fire one building thinking well it it seems like that that could happen a plane could hit a building by accident and in real time bam the second one and i remember thinking what did i sign up for just right because this just changed dramatically and sure enough it did and graduated high school did basic training and within gosh i was only 19 when i got to iraq i guess wow turned 20 over there so that sends you into the e4 specialist role in the army when you're over in iraq yep we've talked before and different stories that you have and some of them i mean yeah we don't have to jump into them right now but some of the stories that you got thank you for doing all of that stuff and one of the guys that you met over there was one of your buddies and matt maupin yep and he was a pow yeah bmw over there and he's kind of one that helped spear into songs for soldiers pretty much i mean you know when when i was over there uh unfortunately i was in one of the worst attacks on a supply convoy the history of iraq or afghanistan wars and um we we escorted fuel convoys and uh we ran into about 250 insurgents and um just got completely picked apart you know i was only one out of six trucks to make it through it and i was the only truck without dead or wounded in it and so um but matt was a couple trucks behind me and uh we lost him to be honest with you we just got the kill zone was huge and we all got pinned down and so a very few of us made it through it and yeah he was the first pow that iraq wore and so um unfortunately an execution video appeared three months later and uh but it wasn't conclusive enough to say it was him and they didn't have his body so it wasn't until 2008 three years after we were home a raid turned up his remains in a you know shallow grave so um yeah that whole experience man you know and then getting through all that unscathed and coming home to a good family and a good job right away i just like no most veterans don't have that when they get back you know and so that's what kind of got me going towards the route of this and then eventually it all just kind of snowballed into 2013 starting songs for soldiers but yeah i mean what happened to matt was a big thing his families they fly in for the concert here to columbia every year so um yeah it's it's a big part of the story for sure yeah so now we have the maupin challenge that you do every year so yeah we we created he was he was a really fit dude and so we created a crossfit workout they call them hero workouts they just did one for officer hopkins as well and we submitted it to in his name and we made it symbolic with the dates and everything and uh crossfit that's my daughter uh crossfit headquarters in columbus ohio adopted it as an official hero workout so it's in there it's an official crossfit workout now and people do it all over the country man i've had calls from new york hawaii santa monica uh england like so people just pick it and do it man so yeah and it's all for something that you started and that's that's awesome to say that you're worldwide yeah well the whole point of it all doing that workout and raising money doing our concert and raising money is we take 100 of it and 100 of our donations and we've what we've done in the last eight years is we just help combat veterans on a daily basis with whatever it is they're facing um as you can imagine after eight years we've run into everything but here we are we've spent over seven hundred thousand dollars on over 600 families now in eight years so so let's talk concert before the second half oh yeah we gotta go yeah we gotta talk football now i could sit up here and talk to you for days but i mean we're winning 48 to zero should we just keep talking it's gonna be we got a running clock here in the second half so it could be a little bit quicker so we're gonna get through right and uh we'll power through this but let's talk concert september 17th gates open for josh turner josh turner is coming to town yeah see the graphic here on the screen where are you guys next week roxanna we are at roxanna okay cool so well if you're not going to the football game next week come up here to the park josh turner's headlining alexander k local girl jordan suiter dude is awesome saturday saturday we will be in town i live on the other side of you hey if night ranger needs a place to hang out beforehand no problem and we're shooting a buttload of fireworks off right by your house too this year just so you know but uh yeah we got night ranger headlines saturday night a bunch of st louis staples john hughes experience joe dirt my band's playing and uh man we have sold a ton of tickets so if you do want to come i would suggest for the first time ever getting them ahead of time because this time both shows are pretty much half sold out and we're going to get the kickoff here real quick and then after the kickoff we're going to ask and find out where you can get those tickets absolutely here as marquette will be kicking off for the first time as we have looks like mcconaughey back deep and maybe wetzel standing next to him can't see far that far back we have to get some bifocals or some uh some cheaters so number 12 is going to send it to about the 44 yard line where the eagles are going to catch it and drop right away is number 23 brendan wike so where can you get your tickets for next tickets are simple man uh our website is s the number 4s stl.org you cannot beat this price it's 20 in advance 25 day of show if you're a veteran just show up obviously this party's for you you can come in for free if you have kids 12 and under get in for free saturday we have a big steeple kid zone just it's family friendly cheap drinks free parking thanks to the schools so i don't know it's a pretty relaxed show you've been there yeah i went there two years ago yes and we all went there two years ago because it didn't happen last year it's going to be a handoff up the middle here for the eagles and they're going to gain about four yards gonna have number 25 we're going to call them vaguely that's because it's the freshman number 25 mason vaguely in at quarterback in number 10 mclean sermon for the running back good for four yards as we're getting some subs in so we're gonna let you go here in a second but one other thing you said you had you just featured a 21-year veteran yeah and o'fallon so what all do you give to is it anything and everything you mentioned that everything so i mean most at times 90 of our veterans you want to call this play oh we got a stoppage they had number 20 here for the eagles braxton bosh he was on the line of scrimmage and we put him in motion you can't do that you got to be off the line of scrimmage if you want to be in motion um i did not know that no yeah we do we run across everything about 90 of our veterans come through va and so as a va caseworker something sees the need further than what they can provide we'll cover mortgages with tons of utility bills uh this particular instance a disabled uh 20-year air force veteran needed a new kitchen couldn't reach her cabinets they were falling apart all new cabinets all new flooring so she's not tripping up on her cane and stuff like that so trips to the right side vaguely is going to take the run to the right side he's going to get through one guy and they get brought down by two massive explorers defensive lineman so dustin i should know alex and one thing maybe for your listeners is like what's cool is we pay everything directly too so if we have to cover some rent for somebody we pay the landlord so that way 100 we know exactly where it went you know what i mean and a couple years ago i remember you i believe talking to t.j webber you donated all the money to a veteran who wanted to be a taxidermist right here on the 50-yard line you're on the 50-yard line and you had all of the gear in the back of the gator you drove it out i still talked to him yeah that was awesome that was a weird thing to search on the internet to find taxidermy i thought i was going to be on like a terrorist watch group list it's going to be a run to the left side out of number 20 bosch and it's going to be a gain of three i'm sorry it's number 10 that looked like 20 to me so number 10 mclean sermon and it's going to be a fourth down to nine well dustin all right thank you for coming up sir see you guys here we got a little one that wants to go home so we'll see you next weekend yep and uh we'll have ourselves one heck of a time after having a year off we know it alright see you guys thank you so fourth down and nine for the eagles we're going to have to punt it away and after this punt we're going to bring in a first responder tonight as vaguely takes the high snap and he gets the punt off and it's going to go out of bounds around the i was thinking the 25 yard line they're going to give it to us at the 20 make it a good round number now we're going to welcome in first responder cole dreyer the president of the columbia volunteer fire department cole thanks for coming out and thanks for doing everything you do for the first responders here in columbia thanks for having me alex no problem hey last year or two years ago i guess it was donated some money to the fire department this year went to the police department it's pretty neat having a town where everybody is so close with each other and especially first responders i mean whenever you have one unit working together it makes our jobs as first responders a lot easier absolutely it does it's a great thing this community has we are fortunate to have great police officers emts and firefighters as well as we got a first down and ten here for the explorers they're gonna go trips to the left side doubles to the right sending the man in motion number 13.
gonna fake the handoff quarterback's gonna keep it up the middle and he's a bowl of a running back as michael allen keeps it he's met at the line of scrimmage and still gains about six yards to bring up a second down and four so cole how long have you been on the fire department i have been a firefighter for 32 years now 32 years i'm 28 man trips to the left side going to be the same play quarterback's going to keep it this time it's going to be sniffed out by the eagles and it's going to be number 74 for the eagles sean horn making the tackle so as a first responder here in town it's not always just the first the the bad stuff that you got to go to we come into all the schools and we have safety awareness stuff like that so it's not all the bad stuff the first responders do a great job coming out being involved with the community last week with the school district we had the ladder truck help the golf team and their fundraiser with the golf ball drop so something neat that everybody always gets involved in for sure um yeah it's it's not always going to the fire scene accident scenes or or things like that we try to get involved with the community in any way that we can helping any of the organizations that we can we like to do that stuff we like to raise money for different organizations and different charities and stuff like that as well [Applause] so just on that as far as raising money make sure you're coming out to all the fish fries at columbia days and good friday the fire department knows has their their fish fries as it's going to be a first down after the penalty same formation once again same play once again this time the quarterback's going to try to run to the right side he's not going to get anywhere as brendan white comes up steps up to make the play with joe kish as brandon and joe kish make the tackle and it looked like sean horn was in there as well so yeah make sure you come up you're getting to the fish fries helping the fire department they help you guys as a community and so come up and help them and all the seniors make sure you're filling out the the scholarship as the fire department hands out a scholarship every year so that's correct uh every year we do a fundraiser uh for the scholarship fund we we have either mouse races or uh we have trivia nights this time they're going to fake the motion man to get the football and the quarterbacks are just going to keep it and get met by a columbia eagle there he keeps his head down and he runs for another first down looks like number 15 hayden habermill was there taking the first contact so going with what you're saying we're just talking about the scholarship fund that that we have we every year we do a either do a mouse race or a trivia night and all the proceeds that we raise from that we give out scholarships every year to to a few seniors that are going to college all right well we've got four minutes and 27 seconds remaining on the quarry pharmacy scoreboard here at the multi-purpose field president thank you for coming up we're going to send it to a break and we'll be back right after this [Applause] as the columbia eagles have blown up the mandy maguire scoreboard lead at 48 to nothing against the explorers for marquette sending a motion man quarterback's going to look to the right side he's going to look to the middle of the field and it's going to fall through the intended receiver's hands and nearly into number 11's hands but it falls incomplete going to be a quick third and fourth quarter as the eagles have that 40-point lead that is a continuous clock no matter what the outcome of the play is columbia working in some of the reserve and backup players looks like coach baker and coach stumpf are on the sideline motion man number 13.
