minutes as they go all the way down the uh the sideline on the fence and they got everything filled up here in the stands chris smith the midgets baseball team is now getting their state championship ring and they beat the eagles in the sectional championship beat them 11-1 then they go into the super sectional game i think they win that one 15-8 all members and they go into the state tournament and dominate those two games so congratulations to the midgets baseball team on the state championship i think they just said they were 38-3 on the season so heck of a season there for the midgets and they were solid from the first lead-off hitter to the 12th hitter i feel like they they were a good team and that we actually streamed that game i think that was one of the last games where we only had one camera angle so maybe we had oh no we did have two cameras we had one side view and one from behind the field so hopefully that's something that we'll be able to do again this year and maybe we'll call the game a baseball game oh man i don't know about that well you get to get a previous baseball player up there i don't know about me i'll fall asleep in the box i'm sorry this baseball's just too slow for me man too slow really yeah i just mean there's so many good storytelling times in there between you know 40 second pitches it's great yeah that then what's the point of broadcasting you're not even talking about the game then a little bit so i guess that's going to be be the next thing we're going to have to have a press box for the baseball games now i'll do some basketball i been doing and giving our athletes space to run and having mcconaughey be patient and don vaguely being patient i think i think we'll be okay teams are making their way out to stretch right now columbia here trying to go 2-0 in the conference freeberg trying to get that first conference victory again we look at the uh you look at the playoff picture in the future you need those five wins and this is one of those games that you need to go your way in order to get your fifth win um if everything goes the right way and if you can get six lock yourself in get yourself a better draw that's gonna help you out in the future as well yeah because i know we talked about it earlier in the in the pre-game we said central and jerseyville those will be those are always two pretty tough games to win uh no matter what year it is but um salem and east saltwood river those may come a little easier but you can't go lighter on those teams because you never know but um that that they're ready and carries for 216 yards three touchdowns so he's averaging seven yards of carry and um probably tonight he had a couple negative plays not too many but he's had he's broken off a couple big ones vaguely came in 183 rushing yards so i like to get those numbers back up again and defensively we're going to have to have a response so the eagles offense is going to start over at the 20-yard line i wonder going to catch up and play is ready to go so right whenever the chains are ready to go that's whenever the next play needs to be ready to go and you need to spike it and only get a second or two off [Music] you oh okay that's okay um it's supermind [Music] hi mrs i didn't either she's having difficulty so if you want to go ahead and start okay we will if we can get around we will uh okay then we will call the meeting to order at 5 36 okay we will go right into the 2022 budget mrs glass good evening members of the board today i will be presenting the 2022 budget uh anywhere in our hearing on today previously um on august the 23rd i presented the budget workshop and today we will be presenting you the updates from the budget workshop we'll be discussing uh any budget updates and going over any updates of the budget process our our board is a well versed in our budget terminology our budget calendar today we are presenting uh september 27 2021 uh our budget public hearing on today key points to remember um we also want to make note that our certified nexus value has come in but we still have some variables um and as you may know that we received the certified net assessed value a couple of weeks ago however it has changed since then so we'll be talking about that today in our budget hearing awesome also um we still have some appeals that will be out so there are still some variables where we don't know some of the things um as far as our certified assets as scott did this slide just covers our year imbalances as we went over in our budget workshop that hasn't changed this is a summary of our 2021 tax rates that we went over in our last workshop nothing has changed on this and this is just a summary of our county tax rates from the previous slide this slide talks about our 2021 property tax caps are estimated between the different school districts in our district in our county and this is the summary side of how much of property tax impact has affected avon community schools over the last 10 years and as you see on here we haven't received 85 million of property taxes in our district and this is the slide that we talk about our 2022 certified united states value when we previously gave you that information before the certified nexus value has changed since then avon our net certified assessed value i'm sorry increased by 11 versus brownsburg 9 dam deal they increased 7 mill creek northwest hendricks county 24 and plainfield at 10.5 percent and that's where it changed at one point we were at 16 when they brought it down and then northwest hendricks i don't know i'm trying to think what's going on out there i know they have a very aggressive town manager but not matters and i don't understand how plants have only grown i know okay 11 was avon nine percent was brownsburg 10.5 is playing field danny hill was seven point six eight percent seven point six eight okay northwest hendricks county 24.02 okay mill creek 6.77 and playing field 10.5 okay thank you and also we still don't have uh information about appeals yeah and that will be there is doing so at the middle of october we don't have it so i and so this is based on last year's growth correct yes so commercial it was pretty flat and they're primarily commercial that's the only thing i could think of i'm going to account for that where we are so residential interesting our next slide we just talk about our school funds the funds that are effective as of 2019 our budget assumptions um our conservative estimates of revenue based upon our adm projection our adm projection actually changed from our budget workshop numbers like the budget workshop i believe it was at ten thousand uh 170 i believe now it's down to ten thousand one hundred and sixty three so as of our uh adm account which was on september 17 2021 it has changed and right now we're at 10 163.
to read the mission statement let me turn a like on there our mission statement at center grove is we develop knowledgeable confident and responsible citizens through inspirational and innovative learning opportunities if you all stand for the pledge of allegiance please i pledge allegiance to the flag of the united states of america and to the republic for which it stands one nation under god indivisible with liberty and justice for all thank you everyone you will notice there's only four board members this morning we only needed a quorum mr daniels was not able to attend this morning our next order of business is the adoption of the agenda mr president i move we amend the agenda to move public participation uh section five to under action items thank you mr alexander do i have a second on that one thank you mrs counts all those in favor say aye aye all those opposed alma closed motion passes three to one [Music] public comments regarding agenda items okay we'll move we've moved that so let's go down to our action items this morning our first action item is to approve the 2021-2022 master teacher contract dr arkanov thank you mr russell this morning i'm recommending that the board approve the master teacher contract agreement with the united teachers association of center grove and this will be the second time you've heard the information and mr taylor's going to provide you with some additional information thank you yes thank you this is the required second reading of this and the adoption of this action item i'm just going to read the highlighted notes this is a total of an eight percent increase for our teachers it's comprised of a 5.85 increase to the salary schedule row advancement which is about a percent and a half and then the other percentage comes out of a column advancement for teachers with new degrees and then we added a row and dropped a row from the overall scale our new starting teacher salary will be 44 169 and our new top one will be 85 298.
of the please states of america and to the republic for which it stands indivisible with liberty and justice good evening and welcome to the september already regular school board meeting uh first item on the agenda is adjustments to the agenda mr gibbon yep i don't have any adjustments to the agenda this month okay next item on the agenda are public comments regarding agenda items do we have anyone that would like to comment on one of our on an agenda item okay hearing none our next item on the agenda is recognitions mr gibson yep so um as we began a new tradition last year and recognizing uh students of the month for the great things and accomplishments that take place in our classrooms athletic fields in the community in our buildings we wish to continue with that process so if we have mrs johnson would like to begin i'm nervous too okay good deal all right well cohen is our first student of the month for um the 21 22 school year and the reason is i'm holding two pieces of paper he was nominated by two different people in our building so i kind of think that just was amazing cohen is a current kindergartner in mrs harvey's class and she writes cohen is a responsible young man he always has the correct tools out and ready to learn listen he listens and follows directions and can be an excellent example of a responsible student i really enjoy having cohen in class and can see him can see him being very success successful in his school years our second staff member mrs mulry and she says he had a couple of rough first couple of days and sometimes kindergarteners we struggle being away from moms right cohen mrs johnson too and he got things together very quickly he is a huge helper in the classroom always on task and participate he is a sweet kid who always asks how others days have been the other students really look up to him especially our tk kids he brightens up everyone's day a bit when he says hi and he's overall a really great kid so congratulations cohen also [Music] all right i am here to recognize ella o'hare hello i want to come up here with me you look nice ella is a second grader in mrs rigel's classroom and mrs rivel nominated ella saying ella is a wonderful part of our second grade classroom she is a hard worker who is very responsible with her schoolwork and school supplies what i love about ella is her desire to learn ella is a type of student who gives meaning to the teaching profession she will work on something until she understands it and she will ask for help if something is unclear to her ella puts such care into everything she works on in class and she is truly proud to put her name on her assignments because she knows she did her absolute best ella o'hare [Applause] we're taking pictures in front of our new photo backdrop in the other room mrs rhodes i'm a little shorter pull this thing down so tz does our student of the month a little bit different we have our classrooms each select a student of the month so we have 18 i'm sorry 20 classrooms that turn in a name and a teacher nominates and those kids are all recognized as our building student of the month and then mrs asbell and ms handy and i take those 20 students and we look at what the teachers have have said and determine who is going to be our building level student of the month and so i am proud to recognize hudson inman hunson is a fifth grader in mrs stevens class and it is written that hudson was chosen as the august student of the month for mrs stevens classroom and for our school for many different reasons first hudson is always kind and polite to his classmates and all adults in the building hudson is the first student willing to volunteer to help a classmate to help a teacher or to help another adult when they need an extra hand hudson has a very unique sense of humor and he brings joy and humor to our school daily hudson is very deserving of the august student of the month [Applause] mrs cup so we also do grade level student of the month for our building and then based on that the student is selected for the student of the month to come represent our building and ally was selected not only by her eighth grade teachers but some of her seventh grade teachers and the related arts teachers also so she was a great example for us mrs smith says ali is a fantastic student that always tries her best and is always willing to help others out help out other students and mrs nicklash that ali is always kind to her peers and teachers she's so good about doing her work and asking questions as well as helping students who need ali is an amazing young lady who leads by example with kindness to see congratulations [Applause] mr rogers no you're fine thank you um and obviously i just want to recognize our students and staff for we've almost completed the first nine weeks of school and i think everyone has done a fabulous job of just dealing with the challenges that have been thrown their way and just continuing to provide good opportunities for for student learning throughout our schools so just commending our students and staff okay thank you the next item on the agenda is the approval of the consent agenda which consists of meeting minutes from august 23 2001 the regular board meeting in september 13 2021 i guess the work session uh the allowance of claims the financial report and the personnel reports parts one and two which are posted on the door and on the school website so i guess we will hear from mrs romer hello everyone in your finance packet you're gonna see at the very uh the very beginning uh two regular payrolls for the month of august one dated august 6 2021 for a total payroll of 386 7 932 and 47 cents and along with that payroll beca came the accounts payable for taxes and retirement for total accounts payable for the august 6th payroll 587.27 the second regular payroll in august was august 20th for a total payroll of 413 460.47 and with the retirement and taxes on the accounts payable for that payroll was 985 and 77 cents we did have a mini payroll on august um there was um a couple people that we did get their payrolls late and those folks needed that payroll so we went ahead and generated a mini payroll for them that was um dated august 25th for a total payroll of 975 dollars and with that came the accounts payable which was just for taxes only there was no retirement on that one 156 dollars and eight cents next in your pack it's going to be a list of prepays um there's nothing unusual on this list actually it's a shorter list than usual did anyone have any questions about these prepays no okay um for the list of prepays dated eight one through eight thirty one twenty twenty one three hundred eighteen thousand nine hundred seventy dollars and ninety cents and then um let's see here we've got a list of claims dated today september 27 2021 did anyone have any questions did you look through there have any questions about any of the claims for this month a lot cheaper than last month yes yeah the summer is usually a lot more expensive for sure okay if you didn't have any questions i really don't have anything to point out to you there's really nothing really unusual here um data today 927 2021 21 total claims uh 258 554.36 and we're ready to go ahead and move on to the financial report okay next in your packet you're going to see the fund report balance the end of august 2021 education fund was one million four hundred thousand one sixty three forty operation fund the end of august twenty twenty one one million six hundred thirty five thousand nine hundred eighty eight dollars and thirty nine cents total for all funds if you wanna go put back to the last page total for all funds is six million two hundred seventy thousand six hundred 662.39 next in your package you're going to see the depository statement and bank balances you'll see all the bank balances there in the second line you'll see the less outstanding checks and then at the bottom you're going to see the august balance for all banks minus the outstanding checks that total is 6 million 270 662.39 you'll see that that balance is with your fund report did anyone have any questions about the fund report depository statement okay then lastly in the finance package and you'll see these um through our bond issue you're going to see bond 2020 expenditures from the closing date of the bond which was in july through september so these are a list of expenditures that we have we have incurred since we closed on the bond you'll see that total there to date is going to be probably about september 15th okay when i generated this total today is 1 million 55 382.90 and pending other questions i'd like to submit for romer next item on the agenda is reports first from our assistant superintendent dr french hi good evening so episode three of the claw cast heirs this friday mr cox we have this podcast happening to make sure i'm looking forward to it yeah okay so we're dropping episode three um on friday and so we're just trying to get some subscribers we've got segments um each episode that are kind of recurring it's just another way that we can get information out we'll post it on our social media so pass the word along and subscribe to that um our after school programs are finally fully stacked thank goodness um so those are in full swing so we are averaging about 88 to 100 a day at the elementary level and right around 80 a day at the middle school level so we're busting out the scenes there so a lot of great stuff the middle school is swimming today and they had their cooking club going so a lot of fun stuff elementary we have on a weekly basis french spanish and violin and then on a daily basis gymnastics tutoring music and art so amazing stuff 15 to 20 kids from depauw coming over to help and volunteering so it's it's been really exciting and we still have a huge wait list and people calling all the time to try to look for those spots so we haven't had very many people drop obviously so um who are really excited to be part of that and as you know we did a lot of tutoring last year to kind of give you an update with that we served about 120 students pay 12 with at least an hour of tutoring a week so that may be more than that and then finally i just wanted to mention that we're beginning our tv device adoption process so our current lease is up next school year so we're starting the research and evaluation phase our committee met for the first time today so the goal of that is to have a final decision by the end of the year and bring that to you for an official proposal by the february board meeting so we can get all of that ordered and have the devices here before the start of the 20 from school 2 school year since there's been such a backlog on getting devices and so you want to get that in early and get that taken care of so we'll keep you kind of updated as we go along in that process but that's what i have for you tonight very great thank you when you're looking into those devices and i'm sure you're well ahead of this can you look into the cases too watching the kids walk into schools and watching my kid try to get out of that with abandonment and then the case strapped to her and the backpack it's interesting to watch smaller thinner cases yeah we'll put that on our criteria okay there you go okay next is the superintendent's report actually mr gibbon yeah so i have a few items to report on this month first is i have the luxury of attending and actually leading a station in apple activities in the tk the transitional kindergarten classroom at deer meadow and somehow or another i got to sign the paint station so you can imagine all the little kids with with the paint kind of look like finger painting i'm not very artistic myself but they're a lot of fun activities that mrs burnham had planned and she invited me to participate so it was just another great way to kind of celebrate the fall harvest and it was just really nice to see a lot of smiles on those kids kids faces mrs muncie worked the apple straws or applesauce station and then there's another station where they made their own little miniature apple pies and then applejack i think necklaces so it was really kind of it was a fun day and just a good activity hands-on activity for for our kids so certainly i appreciate being invited to those events um also to today actually just kind of this past week we've been mr welts and i have been working with chief sutherland mayor dory in the city to add a i'm turned around here a crossing guard at veterans memorial and percy julian just with the amount of students walking to school now with the expansion of wood's edge and zinc mill it was just kind of a growing concern and certainly when kids want to walk to school and get good exercise i think that's a great idea but now we have a crossing guard in place to help the students safely cross just to even bring more attention and awareness kids crossing the road and really like to thank the mayor city council and chief sutherland for for helping to accomplish that they were great partners held the fab lab open house tonight at the middle school there'll be other opportunities to showcase that new space that we're very very proud of we on september i think of 17th seems like a long time ago already we had that was our first count day and right now our estimates are 1773 students which is a growth of 69 students since last spring so that's a huge positive for just growing enrollment and also bringing additional funding an update on the turf and track project that's still still ongoing obviously the the playing surface has been playable and the kids have been enjoying that during the day during pe for soccer and for football they had it took a little bit a while longer to get the track surface ready for paving there was some bad uh some bad sub great bad soils and the first layer of asphalt went around the track today the second or finished layer will go around that tomorrow and then it'll have to cure for 14 days before they can come back and put the latex rubberized coating over the top of that and then obviously i'm finishing off with you know when our fence the fences they're going to work on installing the fence they have the material they've boarded the concrete sidewalks for the fence and then finishing off with paving and sidewalk and what i would call like a plaza area to where you first enter harveston stadium where there's rock and all that and some cracked sidewalk it's not very accessible that'll all be be replaced and kind of working on working on that piece we're almost reaching the finishing stages for the larger scope of the project the for the first couple of phases of the projects that will be complete at the high school in macanally center um we were finishing up focus group work now we're starting to look at some of the finer finishes you know the carpeting the colors just the overall materials and design layout so we're continuing to work with staff members to to work through that and hopefully next month maybe we can see some additional design drawings because we'll be going out to bid in november and then awarding a bid in december january so that's very very exciting there's a lot more work to be done i'm really excited about our academic spaces that will be touched that will be amazing for our students and staff to also go along with that we overfall break we're conducting um several different a variety of several different tests at tz in which actually our building will be unavailable for staff for three days it'll be pressurized and they'll be using some colored smoke to test essentially we think there might be the humidity levels have been fine but we're still dealing with that somewhat and so we think that there might be a leak in the footprint somewhere and so um we've been doing a lot of diagnostic testing and testing in general just to try and pinpoint what that is so that we can correct because sometimes the papers feel damp just feels damp and we want to we want to fix that so that'll be a good thing that takes place over fall break when staff is away that's all the updates that i have for this month all right thank you next item on the agenda is old business and we have no old business so under new business first item is a public hearing for the 2022 budget the cpf plan and the bus replacement plan yeah so as we presented last month all those items were presented greencastle's a little bit different the county council actually adopts and approves our budget our board will approve our cpf plans and um bus replacement plans next month and so this is just an opportunity for public comment on those items that have been advertised so we need to open a hearing at this point yep so what we will do is we will open the public hearing anyone wanting to comment on the 2022 budget the cpf plan the bus replacement plan can do so at this time okay hearing no comments we'll close the hearing and next item on the agenda is an approval request for the 20 2021 22 center for deaf and hard of hearing services contract with the indiana state department of health yep so it's just my recommendation as a part of needing those services for our students approving that contract so that way those services can be provided to our kids okay i make a motion that we approve that contract second okay motion in a second any questions or discussion hearing none all in favor all opposed motion passes next item on the agenda is an approval request for the valid reinstatement restatement for adoption yeah so really nothing's changing um on our end but just as the irs updates tax code and there are new laws that are passed um periodically we have to amend and restate our plan so that way we remain compliant with the irs and essentially that's what this document is or does and we definitely want to remain in their in their good graces so it is my recommendation that the board approved the restatement for adoption i'll we have four donations tonight we're going to prove them all together first is from hendrix regional health to green castle high school athletics for ten thousand dollars second is epic insurance to greencastle high school athletics the amount of fifteen hundred dollars myers market to greencastle high school athletics for fifteen hundred dollars and the gary and linda huber cultural cultural arts and learning to greencastle high school art department for 500.
our budget assumption also includes our staff and which our total staff includes um total okay this is solely on a different topic so can i but i'll forget if i don't know how many people how many students were quarantined on census day on 9 17. i would have to look you'll need to know that information because there is um the department of education has made a concerted effort to make sure that schools are not penalized for doing the right thing and quarantining students appropriately to their um to their masking measures and so we will have to be aware of that number because we will have to turn that in yeah mr brahmas and the tech department has been working on all those adm reports and looking at making sure we've got those coded correctly counted correctly and all those kinds of things so that really was a good effort from the doe and the legislature because at one point they were saying if you had quarantine if you had been quarantined as a as a student more than 50 of the day more than 50 of the school days because of quarantine we would not get full funding for you right so katie jenner really got in front of them and took care of that but then they they are going to ask you that data because they're going to want to track it anyway so um but that would be a good number to have were there any withdrawals from um avon community school corporation um a few days or we didn't see that okay i know there was talk of that but we did not see that and i think that in some cases they thought that it was based on attendance not one enrollment so even if you didn't send your child that day you were still enrolled with us yeah okay thank you thank you our budget assumptions also include staff members that includes 1 450 staff members and teachers at 638 that has not changed since our budget workshop in this slide uh this continues to show our enrollment uh versus our teacher comparison 10 students versus 638 teachers this talks about our legislative updates that we went over in our budget workshop and this slide comes from our state funding budget and as you see on this um 2022 tuition support comparison that avon is to receive six thousand two hundred and forty six dollars per student based on state tuition this slide just shows uh the increase or decrease within state funding between 2009 and this slide also shows us our enrollment summary from 2001 to present now we'll be um reviewing our actual budgets and our different funds nothing that's really changed in our education fund except for the adjustments for the uh reduced student as of our adm from september the 17th versus our august the 23rd budget workshop can i ask i have a question i think it goes here i'm going to ask a question and very much admit that i'm uninformed i'm hearing talk from my friends who work in districts that have much higher percentages of free reduced that the federal vaccine mandate will impact their federal funding if they don't implement it does that impact us or are we not qualifying for that we i mean we have received federal funding through cares and essers and those kinds of things i have not heard anything yet that says vaccines are tied to any of those federal funds now so we haven't been told that yet have you heard anything about that i have not heard anything with that especially with the grants the investors um and the different uh funding that we've received from messers and none of those stipulations have come across my desk and working with uh mr lemay and working with our grant specialist i have not heard of that so i was i got a parry from somebody who would be in those conversations at kerry that some of their federal funding is going to be tied to the implementing the vaccine do they have a federal contract because that's very explicit i don't know he seemed to it [Music] but he seemed to say it had to do with their level of freedom reduced oh okay and that our level of fears and i don't know enough about that world and how that's funded i'm asking a question for which i don't know but if i do know that perry is talking about how that impacts them contractors are without exclusion are under the new mandate and the government has the jurisdiction without osha's approval to go ahead and implement um that mandate but we would have to have a federal contract or perrywood if he was to fall into that category the discussion was about them having the facts he made it for their teachers and stuff especially if he thinks it's tied to free and reduced lunch well a lot of the federal grants all school districts receive it's just a matter of how much perry would receive significantly more than we would yeah um so that's that was my reaction but you guys are seventy percent free introduced one but we're 25 that's still not it means it was insignificant right right so he's like yeah i was like that's the competition we're starting to have so that's good to know it's worth exploring next slide just talks about our expenditures they have not changed they remain the same from our budget workshop and 90 percent of our salaries and benefits consider are considered 90 i'm sorry of the budget is considered about the expenditures of salaries and benefits summer of our 2022 debt services fund nothing has changed on that this lies just shows our debt capacity in the issuance of bonds that we may or may not issue this is our pension debt fund everything is also remained the same on this slide our operations fund everything has actually stayed the same from our budget workshop also our revenue and our expected expenditures and our maximum operation levy this slide goes over our referendum fund everything stays the same on here advertised that are 35.36 this is just a summary of our referendum fund and our board reduced our referendum rate each year i think that's a really nice glass that needs to be on the website front page well one of the things that sheila is working on this we typically about this time update the referendum progress report to say how many teachers are being funded what are our class sizes and so that usually happens about september october when we're finalizing the budget and this is always so that that's when we'll really push this out again well non-mortgaged um homeowners will be paying theirs november 10.
we have a 3.5 percent increase for ecas a number of eca adjustments and some changes to the health insurance plan to increase premiums both on the employer and employee share other than that we had some language options i do have two individuals like to call up as part of my presentation this morning our co-presidents of utec the united teacher association of center grove that's peggy young and mr david lawson we're going to make a few comments [Laughter] it's never boring good morning we wanted to stop by today and personally thank you for what is an historic increase in compensation several years ago we thought 4.3 percent increase was something we would never see again our board and our district administrators outdid themselves this year teachers are truly grateful and to be honest they needed something we're all working very hard to do this job but we all know being a classroom teacher these days is not easy the last 18 months have shown us challenges we never anticipated they were challenges many were never trained for and we all seemed barely prepared for teachers also needed something because many are afraid they're afraid of doing the wrong thing saying the wrong thing using the wrong word sharing the wrong personal opinion handing out the wrong essay teachers are being bullied hectored shamed on social media some are talking openly about looking for other employment about leaving the profession about simply not returning and personally i think it's going to get worse we have a looming human resources problem effective teachers good people who care about kids are leaving this profession and this district because they fear our community this increase is a welcome gesture of support and appreciation in a very difficult time thank you for acknowledging us and for doing what you can with the resources available and finally we have to get this in here we'd like to thank rob daniels who always brings the magic in the money every single time he bargains on behalf of the board well first thank you we are so appreciative of the relationship we have with the board and the administration is not always been this way so thank you we know we don't always agree but we are professional when we disagree teachers are not only afraid they are tired more and more is being placed on their shoulders and david's correct teachers are looking elsewhere for jobs outside of education we look forward to a continued dialogue and great relationship and off to school we go thank you so much thank you very much thank you thank you guys thank you that's all any other comments mr taylor no just to point out again this has been included in the budget that dr gabriel presented thursday evening okay does the board have any questions or comments no just unfortunate to hear that about teachers yes it is thank you guys thank you thank you thank you i they have to get to work okay seeing as there's no discussion do i have a motion mr president i move that we approve the 2021-2022 teacher contract with the united teachers association of center grove thank you mr alexander do i have a second a second thank you mr hoover all those are in favor say aye aye all those opposed motion passes 4-0 thank you unfortunately for mr daniels this is his first year in negotiation so he's got a tall bar to a tall tall bar to get over the next time around okay our next order of business is to approve the raise for level a b and c employees dr darkness computers are wonderful when they do what they're supposed to do um okay well this morning i'm recommending that the board approve the increases for levels a b and c and some level d salaries wages and schedules reflected and mr taylor will provide you with some additional information thank you very much this is also something we like to do after we're able to settle a contract this year we are differentiating those increases and for levels a b c and some level d employees we'd recommend a seven percent increase this also includes administrators and all permanent support staff and some coaches who are outside of the bargaining unit will receive the 3.5 percent increase consistent with the eca schedule increase all of all these raises would be retroactive to the first employee work day on or after july 1st 2021.

so it's always good for this and this slide just throws an impact of our protected tax flavor the expected impact and this is our budget summary for revenue in our expenditures for each fund and these are all amounts that we advertise at and remember we always advertise higher than what our budget will be based on approval and this is a summary of our tax rate and as of 2022 you see where we will be advertising that for 2022.
i'll bring this revised statement of benefits to the board at the october 21st meeting that'll detail and outline these changes and some of the salary and benefit changes that we mentioned along with the teaching contract the salary increases have been built into the 2022 budget and they're welcomed very greatly by our employees who are across all of the pay scale so this will really help us in bringing our lowest hourly rates up above 15 an hour we'll still have a few but those will typically be temporary or short term positions this will make us more competitive if you've driven down 135 lately and so we are excited to be able to do that thank you mr taylor speaking of the how are we doing with bus drivers we're okay or we're struggling like everyone else but i'd say our struggle has been a little lighter up until recent so um and we've lost a few lately we've got a great crew we have many long-term bus drivers and ms pitts is working on on that very very hard thank you any questions for mr tingle do i have a motion mr president i move that we amend level a b and c and some level d salary and wage schedules such that eligible employees will receive a seven percent salary or wage increase effective july 1 2021.
