need a motion if there are no comments from anyone mr president i move that we approve the resolution authorizing the additional appropriations presented thank you mr alexander do i have a second second mr daniels thank you roll call mr alexander hi mr daniels hi this is counts aye and mr hubbard hi and myself motion passes five zero thank you everyone good job everyone getting through two hearings virtually and our last order of business is the resolution to authorize transfer from education fund thank you mr russell uh this evening i'm recommending that the board adapt the resolution authorizing transfer from the education fund to the operation fund and dr gabriel will provide you with some additional information yes as has been previously stated we gave raises of seven percent to our support staff this year and these raises are largely funded by additional dollars that come to us through the funding formula and that money comes into the education fund so in order to to to fund the support staff raises in the operations fund we need to transfer some of this formula money into the operations fund so this resolution accomplishes this transfer in the three months of october november and december and it is in the amount of 350 000 which is the amount that we just appropriated to expend on this amount but we do need a separate resolution to to make the transfer and we'll request the board approval this evening thank you dr gabriel any questions to dr gabriel on this this is something we do every year right we we do um we we do a transfer every month but this is an additional amount because of the size of the rays we've not done this uh this particular transfer in the past okay do i have a motion mr president i move that we approve the resolution to transfer an additional amount of 350 000 from the education fund to the operations fund thank you mr alexander do i have a second go ahead go ahead mrs counts that's okay rob you got it all right mr daniels roll call mr alexander mr daniels hi mrs counts hi and mr hubbard and myself motion passes 5-0 thank you everyone okay before you want to do this now or after i'm sure i can go ahead um just want to remind everyone i'm not going to do that at any time but i just want to remind everyone that we have uh announced today that we'll be going back to uh mask optional on starting on monday so everyone should receive the information via email so please look for that return school plan and that the changes in their plan so pretty excited thank you to the johnson county health department dr paul's working with us to be able to do that and the other school districts as well in the county so i'm looking forward to getting that going and hopefully we're one step closer to a better situation so thank you mrs thank you dr austinoff uh so it appears in public comments that we have one you ready okay okay yeah this is from william collins 3865 new battle lane bargersville his agenda item is benefits and compensation his comment is mr collins states that he has a simple question for the school board and administrators he asks how much they value center grove teachers and support staff he states that he has heard the fancy talk of union reps praising mr daniels for bringing the magic and the money and the superintendent boasting of a big pay raise averaging of about eight percent he claims that amount was only 5.85 and that the district has failed to mention the insurance premium increase of 12.7 percent mr taylor clarified this information earlier furthermore mr collins states that he believes most of the school districts other support staff like bus drivers special education assistants and instructional assistants and many others are not offered medical benefits and claims peers in neighboring districts like clark pleasant are all offered these benefits and their teachers just received pay increases of five thousand and an additional three thousand five hundred per semester two thousand per semester stipend for teachers that substitute teach in class during their prep period he states that it is no wonder that the district keeps losing more qualified teachers to neighboring districts he asks that while the district makes plans to spend 30 million dollars on renovations to middle school central and has spent 34 million dollars on a pool which he says is a very nice pool but he believes the district had a perfectly good pool already mr collins also states that the district also spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on copiers but ask how much the district teachers and support staff are worth he states that he has several years of management experience in the public sector and has learned a few important things he states that one of the most important things he has learned is simply that quote if you want to recruit and retain the best you must be prepared to pay your people what they are worth he states that he thinks center grove can do much better in quote that is our only public comment uh this evening and now we have uh just a few announcements our next uh meeting is november 18th executive session 6 pm at the it center as usual and uh november 18th after that will be the regular board meeting 7pm at the uh admin boardroom any comments from board members real quick jack i i just have one comment um as it relates to the uh eight and seven percent raises for the teachers and for the staff i wasn't able to attend the second meeting at which that was approved i had a business meeting conflict um the fact that i wasn't there isn't a uh a sign of of any lack of appreciation for the efforts of one state legislature for appropriating additional funds which allowed us to pay more to the union three the admin and then all others involved because i think you know through that process we were able to do something that that hopefully will will benefit the the school corporation and and our very valued employees going forward um so i i don't want anyone to think that me not being there monday morning uh last month was any sign of anything other than just a unavoidable conflict on my on my day job schedule so that that's all i have jack thank you mr daniels i would like to say appreciation to everyone for this evening going virtual is obviously means a lot of technology changes quickly so we appreciate everyone attending and just appreciate your patience with it all thank you everyone thank you everybody good night

so the dates are listed on the pacific county election website i know this sunday is the first one the 23rd so there's 10 dates that you can go and vote early so if you don't want to vote on election day itself um you can do early voting president smith yes actually starts saturday not sunday oh there is one saturday i didn't see the first day all right so starts saturday uh the 22nd so there's plenty opportunities to vote um does anyone know mr casper when the mail-in ballots had to be in by the application for mail-in ballots are due the uh 26th 26th yes okay so if you wish to vote by mail you may do that as well um you have to get a application uh to send in and then they will mail you a ballot you will then vote for what you wish and then mail that back to them or i believe they they have dropped both points as well city hall was one last time so if you wish to rather do that you could vote by mail and obviously in person um at your polling place from 6 a.m to 8 p.m on the 2nd of november but please you have so many opportunities whether it's advanced voting vote by mail or in person you know everyone has every opportunity to vote please take that opportunity and go out and vote we encourage everybody to do that thank you so much for that is anything else you want me to add on that anybody okay uh is that what janina just did number yes okay board committee reports um i sent an email out to the board um what i'd like to do in the future and we can discuss this what i'd like to do in the future is to post the minutes of committee meetings to the public and to the board as board docs comes out the board obviously will vote on the minutes at this meeting but the public will have access to see those committee minutes as soon as the board docks are released the same time that board members would receive those minutes we would discuss the minutes as they are posted and obviously if the public would like to question or discuss anything with that they could do that under um open comments and the board obviously would make their comments as they are as we discuss them so what that does is it post the minutes early as as board docs is usually released on monday so the public would have an opportunity to see those committee minutes give them an opportunity to read it and then if they wish to come to the meeting and ask a question about those committee minutes they could do that the way we have it set up now is we don't post them until tomorrow after the board approves it and then if anyone has any questions from the public they have to come back next meeting and ask it and they may forget some of the things they wish to do so trying to be transparent as well as not having to read through like tonight we have seven committee board reports so it saves us from having to read every one of those seven reports because the public and the board would have prior access to those minutes so i've received so many comments from people that they don't understand the minutes that are being read they don't comprehend them it's just a waste of time so posting them to the public i think would be tremendously more successful they will have the same amount of time to review those minutes as the board would would do so um i open it up to uh two comments president smith who said that right here miss uh dr danny um just one thing uh the student representative if i don't know if he has anything that he would like to read off yeah he's not we're next time oh okay so right now it's just comments on anything on the on the we're not reading them off today no we're discussing what we wanted what we would like to do going forward with committee minutes so i'm proposing that we post the minutes on monday as we get as we get them in board docks the public would be able to see them and then if there were any questions from the public they could come to the meeting and ask those questions about those minutes right now they don't get posted to the public until tomorrow after the meeting and then two weeks later they may not remember what they wanted to come and discuss on the minutes um it also is very rapid you know repetitious um tedious as we're reading word for word from the from the minutes we've asked everyone to kind of do a summarize of the minutes but posting them with board docs and giving the public the opportunity they can see them and read them they don't have to have one of us read it to them that's that's the purpose of that yes uh commissioner daley yes thank you mr smith uh i'm in favor of your suggestion the only additional suggestion i would make is that once the minutes are prepared by whoever the minute uh secretary is that that be given give 24 hours to the committee members to add or subtract so and just it's a limited window just a 24-hour they know it's coming and that way we can have a better attempt at having accurate minutes instead of editing about at a board meeting absolutely i don't think that would be an issue at all and the president smith super quick i just wanted to say that they were posted public this was the first meeting they were posted public oh they were posted for this is the first meeting they were posted on the public section of board docs okay so the public um today is the first meeting that we did post the minutes when board docs was released so you do have access to those committee minutes now previously it was always the day after correct mystery was the day after yeah we would post them to the website which we still will do uh the day after the meeting president smith yes mr abigail um also i want i would i like the idea where he's saying to give transparency to the public but also to be cognizant of that there are students on some of these committees and to be certain that their names are not written out before we release this to the um after release to the public to make sure either initials or id number whatever the administration decides to do with that it's because there's been some times where we've read off ie diversity our student committees and the student's name has been on there we have to remind uh to take them all off our change or whatnot so as long as that's done i'm cool with it but again the protection of the children the most important thing to make sure either id numbers or initials yes or just say two students who are there and nobody's gonna really know who the students are right um dr robertosi i'm sure could direct the um those that are writing up the minutes to not include names on those so that that's not a i'm sure that's not an uh a hard task to get it yes miss beltran um well i disagree because i think that not all the population has access to board dogs i think a lot of people do get their information by us reading our committee reports especially people who watch at home on tv and on facebook they don't necessarily you know have the board docs open at the same time or haven't had a chance to review it and even if i think we could shorten it and just do each committee chair writes a small synopsis of what was discussed i think that just informs the public a little bit more especially for those who only watch from home quite well taken mr granova yeah so uh to piggyback on what miss beltran said i agree with her um i know me personally my father-in-law watches this at home and he's blind he can't see so he's watching it on the tv he also doesn't use a computer so but he'll tell me he'll say what are they talking about with that tennis court where do they want to put it he'll know what we're talking about when we talk about facilities so um i think it's in a matter of like you said being transparent i think it's easier if we can read these things out so that people know where we're going in the direction we're going because as data said not many people not all people do have access to that but the other bigger concern and mr abu drabba brought up is the the minutes posted sometimes when we read through we may skim a couple parts and not read them and and uh check and change them after the fact because there may be something like a student name in there or something in technology that i see right now actually uh speaks to the way that we're going about a certain ai technology and it kind of gives an insight into our our um our views of how we're we're trying to maintain security so something like that would have already been public so in that situation we would have been able to take a look at it and then been able to modify it so unless we change the procedure unless we say there's a draft that goes to board of ed only first in the executive panel for a certain amount of days and then we give our feedback and then it goes to public i think maybe that could better help the process but i think we need something else in the in the middle there president smith yes dr danny um uh just to piggyback off of mr kanova i mean whenever i have my meetings i do always ask um you know dr albertozia you know i tell him make sure you send them to me first so that i can check them over and look at them so i've always been doing that so before they go out i make sure that you know just to make sure things weren't missed or something so it's like an extra set of eyes so um you know i mean i just assumed that all board members were doing that it usually does take place but um sometimes it's missed but usually it does take place the minutes are always sent to the chair first yeah i was gonna say in that situation it got sent to you personally but not the group if there's a way that we could put it in the executive only area as we always did so everyone sees it for a couple days and then move it forward to public i think it's better yep that's that's a good uh miss bassford i only have five uh reports on my board doc's not seven so i don't know if i'm missing anything i just looked at it there's only i'm sorry okay um i just did a quick glance i saw a lot okay so um i have to agree with miss beltran and mr canova i don't feel that this is appropriate not reading bullet points that we discussed um with all due respect mr smith you just went on for a half hour with announcements to the community that stuff can be uploaded on board doc so people want to see that as well if i'm not for limiting uh in case in point anybody that's blind uh anybody that doesn't have the technology if they're looking at the meeting on their phone they can't access board docs because some some phones are not um able to handle all that data at once they're not going to be able to read it i would just like if we can actually read off bullet points so the people know what we're talking about it's just it's not fair to the community to just pass this by because i have several questions this is really loud i have several questions about um two to the report so how is this gonna work we're just gonna say okay we have the we have the adoption of the uh committee reports any questions it could be a very uh messy that we're not all asking the same questions at the same time so that's just my thoughts i don't think it's a great idea president smith yes dr d um i i'm sorry i i did want to add that i do agree with um miss beltram and miss bassford i really do i i don't think it takes really that much time and i think just once we start talking i mean if if bullet points are stated and then they're just not stated clearly or some i mean i just think it's easier just to read it um for the sake of you know those individuals that maybe don't have this and this is their only way that they do find the information and then once if we're talking about it that at that point i do agree with miss bastard it might get messy like we have to go back to it and then maybe read the part to the public so i mean i i would just say for summarizing that i would just say it's just easier to read the whole thing i mean that's my opinion okay anyone else okay so we'll uh we'll review that and get back to the board on that so for tonight we will continue to read the minutes we'll start our facilities miss beltran i'm sorry before we do that i'm sorry i i apologize we have our new student representative here tonight um it took a while for for us to get a student representative so we're very happy that he's here and so i'd like to introduce andrew who was our new student representative and he'll give his report first as i'm sure he doesn't want to hang around good evening everyone my name is andrew seradsky and i am clifton high school's student council association's senior representative to the board of education for this year uh just to give you a little bit of an idea of who i am and my interests in the school i'm heavily invested and involved with clifton high school performing arts department i'm an active member of the mustang band chs orchestra last year i served as vice president of the triangle music honor society here at clifton high school and since the summer of 2018 i've been volunteering with the band at the ic program previously at the annex now at woodrow for this past year i'm also an ap honors and cp student and overall i'm just very excited to be here and look forward to the rest of this school year there are a few announcements with the school that i just would like to announce here as well and first one is in regards to clifton high school's varsity fall sports because all the teams have been doing exceptionally well boys football team is currently six and one the boys soccer team is 14-1 i believe they played today i don't know if they won or lost girls soccer team is nine and five as of today as of winning today and they're going to states girls volleyball is 19-2 cross-country is currently undefeated ranked number two in north jersey and girls tennis is county champions as of a few weeks ago but i still think it's definitely worth mentioning tonight i know it was mentioned earlier but i also would like to say that this sunday the halloween parade and mustang band is performing in that and then later that evening we are also performing in the north jersey band festival it's being held at clifton stadium for the first time in many many years information for ticket prices and actual times is all available on the mustang band's social media pages there are upcoming dates for college info sessions for coaching high school families with seniors there are two tomorrow for montclair state university and fairly dickinson university and then next tuesday october 26th njit and kane university are holding sessions zoom links for those are available through guidance at the high school it's currently being announced on the occlusion high school morning news show that the clifton high school avenue of flags is accepting two dollar payments to dedicate a flag if you have a family member or a friend family friend who's involved in the military but you do not need to be related to them that closely you could still dedicate a flag without being related to someone please return all forms of payment to wing offices by october 29th if you're interested in that the sca is working with pbsis to present an free screening of the night before christmas and that is going to be at 7 p.m on october 27th up at the band field here at the high school clifton high school students are invited to also bring younger siblings a key club here in clifton high school is also running their clifton cares drive and they are accepting non-perishable food and personal care products as donations lastly i do have some student issues that have been brought forward and discussed in the clifton student union meetings that i'd also like to address here the first in regards to walkers currently coastal high school students are not assigned blockers and the question is just will they get assignments at any point during the year i've discussed this with administration and the answer is no the reasoning behind it is in case of quarantine or god forbid having to shut down this way students have their items with them the next is lunch and a general feeling that it might be unsafe during the pandemic uh fact matter is that we cannot space out anymore um however that is something i'd also like to address a few points later the next is with plastic dividers on desks this is something that i know has been brought forth to administration here at the high school but i also like to bring forth here because it's a big issue among a lot of students and there's a general feeling that they're not only annoying but they inhibit learning and are just ineffective i know there's a petition that has been going around it's been signed by many many clifton high school students and i hope that the board realizes that it is something that we deal with on a daily basis they aren't clean as far as i know and overall just as someone who sits in the back of the class because of alphabetical seating it's hard to see past three rows of plastic dividers and to see the lesson and completely understand it and the last point is just for general cleanliness and the question is is it possible to have a requirement to wipe down desks again this is something that i did personally as a student who was here during last school year when we were hybrid and i personally believe that this is a great idea because we have twice as much class time and even though wipes are still available to students the vast majority ignore them i personally have not seen a single student take a wipe and wipe it down this relates back to my point about the lunch periods i definitely think at the very least there should be a requirement there uh i'm not sure if the tables are clean between periods i don't believe they are but i still think that they've always have students come in right down their desk throw out the wipes then get their lunch since that was probably the biggest place for cobra to spread i'd like to thank the board for this time and i wish everyone good health and good night thank you andrew we appreciate it um obviously uh it's a school night so you're free to exit as you wish or if you wish to uh stay you're more than welcome to okay so now let's start with board committee reports ms bell trump i just i just had a question oh i'm sorry you have a question so if i'm looking down this way i see reflection in multiple visors here so i'm assuming that's what the students see is is is using advisor something we can make possible as an option for students can we bring that back to education i don't even know where that would go is that something we could bring back we would go back to the superintendent okay thank you president smith yes dr dean um the school district that i'm in i mean we've abandoned the use of the divide the the around the student i mean if teachers want it um you can have it around you if you want if you feel comfortable but um we just abandoned the the for the students so i don't know logistically what it is though if it's like less than three feet or so whatever but i mean we you know we have kids sitting next to each other no dividers so just for just an fyi yeah administration hears that they'll they'll discuss it among themselves and they'll get back to the board on on what they feel should be best okay now miss belchov okay so i'm going to uh summarize what the comments said so the welcome center parking lot is now complete um the board room is under construction currently the hallway is completed as far as i know and the room will be uh being started on soon uh school 16 as dr roberto announced is open and some of the furniture is on back order but we will be getting it as soon as it does come in um there are supply shortages as everyone is aware the fence is school 5 was completed tonight we had the ribbon cutting for the new kitchen here at the high school that supplies for i think they said almost every school minus two of them so that's a big deal that is now open and it's going to be like a college style cafeteria the tennis courts at the high school we went over it actually in person there might be another minutes the next time it's going to cost approximately 1.7 million dollars with for the banfield and the tennis courts and we'll be having a regulation tennis court so we can hold tournaments in the future the hurricane ida insurance projects are on their way um and all of them are proceeding as planned any questions mr smith i have a question um the fence at school five looks wonderful and then you look down and you see this really um horrible looking little retaining wall maybe they can paint it with a nice fresh coat of paint it just it just it looks beautiful looks like you got a new i'm going to really date myself vinyl top on your car and then your car's all scratched up you know it doesn't it it really needs to just maybe a fresh coat of paint maybe the school colors and maybe an emblem or something like that but it really will do it much much nicer appearance for the front of school thank you i can't remember now is it painted now um it's it's a retaining wall it's made of concrete but the old fence rusted a lot of it it really looks it looks the crepit but i mean the wall is not painted now so it would be no they kept it they just put the fence back up on where they had it thank you anyone else president yes dr danny um is there just more clarification about the tennis courts with regard to the city and working with the city on that uh we've decided to move forward with our own um just so that we don't have any sort of scheduling con conflicts with the city and also we'll be on our own plan for construction-wise if we have to rely on the city we have no idea really when it would be completed and we'd like to have it done hopefully again with supply constraints by next season so that they could use it as the girls word county champions i think that's what the student rep just announced we hope for them to have a facility that they could be proud of thank you yeah so i think the committee agreed that we would rather have the tennis courts on our own property than at um a city park um and again we would have to pay for those additional tennis courts anyway so it should reflect that on our our own property so i think that's the consensus of what the committee did and our architect came out and showed us that we can get the five if not six courts on our property with a little redesign and putting a retaining wall uh after the banfield and then turfing the retaining uh the banfield so that's what came out of committee all right next uh we would have uh finance mr daley thank you mr smith just a few items first item was discussed was the renovation of the boardroom and the basement floor of the uh of the administration building um we don't have the quote numbers in here but the the hallway renovations are completed and that was done by a contractor and we have not yet started because we needed to do the hallway first on the board room and we'll get those numbers to you and i believe uh mr yusi can and advise us uh these are coming out of our standard budget mr uc yeah we're yeah we're going to be discussing that but yes it's just out of maintenance yeah so we have a facilities maintenance account so that doesn't affect additional money in the budget it's what's already been budgeted and available to us to do various items in the in the uh in the district as ms beltran said we talked about the tennis courts and she gave the number um and then where are our audit because the executive order from the state of new jersey and the governor that has been pushed back to february 22nd to have the audits complete and our understanding and the reason for that is that statewide the staffing for the door all the orders are uh not up to par so it's going to take them and the availability of of information uh is is uh not all there for the auditors so let me stand corrected we do have our information uh our business administrator with his team have done an excellent job so so we kind of know where the things are but you still have to go to an official independent auditor every year to get your prior years audited and certified so we cannot uh but we they have been pushed back to february they're usually available uh done by december and at least we make a presentation of that usually in january so what i can say on behalf of the board is when we do have that audit we'll have as we always do every year have that order report done in public from our order that concludes my remarks any questions any questions nope seeing none we'll move on to food service transportation [Music] got it frank okay like we had announced earlier we had our small ribbon cutting today for our new kitchen it will be open for a soft opening for our students starting on october 27th with a full reopening for our students when they come back on november 8th the school 16 kitchen is still under renovation there are currently grab-and-go lunches tables are set up for breakfast before the bell after before the bell and after the bell teachers and assistants get the meals for the students and then bring them back to the their classrooms through national school lunch program the district applied for sso allowed allowing us to get free breakfast and lunch to all students through a federal raver and we are looking into incorporating kosher halal vegan and plant-based foods under the discussion for transportation new buses have been purchased we are currently advertising for bus drivers uh we have six buses total that we had just uh purchased there is a possibility of looking into extending our space at the gr our current uh area for the garage parking vans and two buses were damaged during ida which are all um currently being fixed are there any questions on that topic okay i'll move on to education uh number one uh was already presented to us by mrs kusalevich which was a which was the esl enrollment and testing update as well as the testing for our special education students currently there were 800 hours of testing since july for our esl students because of a change to the new jersey bilingual code and due to requirements of the elementary and secondary education act testing can take anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes per student is per student in screening and documents review require a similar amount of time number two special education update from mrs rotolo a cpac meeting was scheduled on 9 28 discussing the role of the case manager there will be a next meeting the next meeting will be held on november 15th miss rotolo also shared professional development research pro projects in which the special ed department isn't participating in project wild from seton hall university is providing lessons to support writing in in selected speech and language classes as well as the brother the rutgers paraprofessional project is providing instructional support to our power professionals through dr robertosi his initiatives with felician college a professor and resident has been private provided to help support inclusion and resource room teachers at chs number three start strong which is the replacement for our general education testing tomorrow is the last day for the testing since our meeting we had 12 testings completed number four school calendar and holiday discussion dr robert tosi shared that a committee of administrators reviewed the care in an upcoming calendar to provide input a discussion was held about the njdoe list of religious holidays cultural holidays reflecting the clifton community were also discussed the one-page view of the district calendar was compared with the full calendar available on the website and further discussions will be held to help update our calendars are there any questions on that mr smith through you i have a question um the um can we get a copy of the uh the role of the case manager can that be distributed to the board because i'd be interested in seeing that also with the special education parent advisory group who is the lead parent on that group because usually it's a parent that runs it and i'm just curious if are we going to have a parent that's going to be a liaison to the community i'll find out mrs mansford yep i think that um if we got each got a copy of the role of the case manager that would help us when we get special education questions from people in the community as well so we can articulate it clearly to other people thank you okay seeing no other questions uh technology mr kanova all right so item one portable meeting streaming streaming options mr provide an overview of what could be done from a technology perspective in the event of a board event meeting being held in a location other than chs or the administration building from any location a meeting can be recorded by a single camera stream to youtube as well as broadcast to channel 77 and mr mountain will investigate microphone options for this item two remote meeting participation options mr mountain explain the difference drifting options available for remote participation from the public and or commissioners call and video call etc multiple technology technology solutions will be demonstrated to the full board on the upcoming meeting of 1021.

so that's an increase relative to the previous year the other item i wanted to just mention is embedded within your revenue specifically in operations and maintenance in the building fund fund 20 julie would call it is 187 000 from ameren which represents the payment of the energy incentives which you received as a result of having put in certain energy driven construction items that trane put in place so we did specifically see that 187 000 come in so not only are you ecologically sensitive but you're 187 000 to the good to boot so total revenues are 31 000 sorry 31 million on the expense side if you go again to the total column you see total expenses of 31 million 888 000 let's break that into some pieces because that number is just too big to digest 31 million 888 000 in disbursements of which 2.9 million represented capital expenditures from the building and the buses and the computers as we discussed you had debt service for principal and interest of another 3.4 million as we discussed earlier for the principal payments and some interest so that's 2.9 for capital 3.4 for debt service embedded in that 31 million is the 8.4 million theoretical in and out from the state of miss of illinois for on behalf payments so if you boil those three numbers out of the 31 million eight you're left with 17 million two in expenditures to talk about if you take that number some four million is all of the other costs of the school district supplies some of which were down quite a bit of the line items were up because the covet as you might imagine and so forth but the big dollars within that remaining 17 and the dollars that are controllable are salaries and benefits benefits this year were roughly one million seven hundred thousand dollars in total relatively comparable to the previous year both in total and as a percentage of salaries the salary number this year embedded within your audit is 11 million four hundred thousand dollars roughly which represents an increase of some seven hundred thousand dollars from last year's ten million seven hundred thousand dollars that increase is driven by raises to the various teachers and others in many cases six percent so that's what we saw pretty consistently as well as 11 net full-time employees in the over what was there in the previous year so last year we saw an average of 233 full-time employees when we were doing some of our audit testing this year that number came in at 245 for us and so that increase drove part of that increase in salary as well as the raises that then gets you to total financing sources and uses of profit so to speak of 87 000 which is to say you can't come any closer to break even on a cash receipts and disbursements basis on a 32 million dollar budget than to come within 88 000 and so that is phenomenal now i do want to point out because when you look at the individual budget sorry the individual line items for the funds you would see that all of the funds showed a surplus with the exception of operations and maintenance operation and maintenance showed a deficit for the year of one million six hundred and seventy six thousand dollars but it's important to remember these are cash basis and that includes the expenditure of in this case two and a half million dollars two million five hundred and sixty thousand which went towards the building construction and some of the computer equipment and such all of that is embedded within the operations and maintenance fund and what has drove that number to negative i have just one more comment and then i will turn the agenda back to you and you can get back to flying through the other item that is a significant liability for the school districts it doesn't show up on these financial statements because of the regulatory basis of the statements that you present in the nature of the liability is your pension fund and over the years we have reported to the board and the board has diligently watched the pension the uh the imrf fund and how it has moved if you look at page 57 let me talk about that for just a minute and i actually went through and highlighted a few numbers there to talk about because there's an awful lot of numbers on this page first off i will tell you this schedule in the required this is a required schedule this is actually called the 10-year schedule of funding progress now for those of you who are as good accountants as i am you will look at that and you will tell me that the 10-year schedule has seven years on it and that's because they changed the reporting requirements starting in 2014 and so every year we add a year until we get to 10.

board docs commissioners brought up a few recommendations for improvements to the software one was to force change notifications to be sent as resolutions are update and the other was to give commissioners the ability to bold or highlight on the text agenda mr mountain will relay these concerns to board docs item four security projects mr mountain provided an update as to the status of the bond referendum security projects camera upgrade walkthroughs have been conducted at chs ccms and woodrow wilson and project designs are being finalized camera walkthroughs for the remaining buildings are being scheduled for late october early november pa system walkthroughs will commence october 26th and project designs should be finalized and finalized soon after mr mountain and mr mikhail gower gave a brief overview of two artificial intelligence software add-ons that are available once the camera system upgrades are ready and complete so i don't want this is what i was referring to i don't want to discuss particularly what they are and that commences the technology minutes any questions nope seeing none we'll move on next we have our public recognition this person excuse me this portion of the meeting is open to the residents and non-residents of clifton for the purpose of addressing any subject matter pertinent to and are directly related to the operation of the clifton public school district residents and non-residents are requested in person to sign the register provided for this purpose all speakers are asked to state their names municipality they live and the subject matter before they begin speaking comments are limited to five minutes per person issues raised by members of the public may or may not be responded to by the board all comments will be considered and a response will be forthcoming if and when appropriate your questions may or may not be answered by board members the board asked the members of the public be courteous and mindful of the rights of other individuals when speaking specifically comments regarding students and employees of the board are discouraged and will not be responded to by the board students and employees have specific legal rights afforded by the laws of the state of new jersey the board bears no responsibility nor will be liable for any comments made by members of the public members of the public should consider their comments in light of the legal rights of those affected or identified in their comments and be aware that they are legally responsible and liable for their comments okay public recognition is open if you wish to address the board please approach the podium okay we're experiencing technical difficulties please stand by hmm [Music] how do you know if your soap actually stops [Music] good evening everybody mark brinsey at clifton new jersey i just want to uh thank dr robertosi for allowing me to speak president smith vice president casper and i just want to commend those two kids from christopher columbus who won the awards today for being such outstanding human beings high quality high character human beings to both of you guys the sky's the limit for both of you so congratulations well deserved and thank you to dr robert tozie [Music] uh to give us updates because a lot of the clifton moms have been complaining about the food i i've said something at least two times before this is likely at least the third time i mentioned something and uh these sound like wonderful moms and they are quite concerned they've alleged that one of the chicken patties when they opened it it was the color purple so that that's what's been alleged and uh they are quite concerned but the way you described it is that there's a soft open next week i believe and a hard open on on november the 8th so i'm sure everybody's looking forward to that uh just a lot a lot of complaints from concerned moms in this city so thank you for addressing that and uh your updates are fantastic so another thing i want to discuss was was kids safety because my understanding is that the city works with the with the district with the school district regarding crossing guards and things of that nature and this morning i got a frantic call from my cousin about a city employee in the front of her residence taking away a lawn sign in front of her residence because it was in front of the sidewalk not behind the sidewalk and just last week i saw on a specific intersection right by school 12 there was no crossing guard at that intersection of lexington and clifton at so shame on this city for complaining about where the lawn sign is this wasn't in front of a school building or any public municipal building in this city this is in front of her personal residence and they have a nerve to waste city resources like that for a lawn sign that's coming down on november 3rd so i hope that the city and and the board work with each other to ensure to guarantee that the major intersections near schools always have some sort of crossing guard and that they're continuously signs and and lines that are being painted for for the pedestrian crosswalks thank you for your time and god bless america good night everybody thank you anyone else wish to address the board good evening my name is lori lalama and i'm the president of the cea i want to clarify a situation that happened this past week so it had to do with elections and the candidates that's running for the board of ed i reached out to donna popowicz because i did not have anybody's personal email address so she sent the information my email to nine candidates eight out of the nine because since it's facebook you can tell when it was open and eight of the nine opened up my communication or hers with my information in the beginning four out of the nine contacted me i sent them the questionnaire and then email and email when somebody sends you an email according to the internet based etiquette or netiquette it is a lack of consideration to forward somebody's email to another person without permission now i'm not here with name calling or name dropping i'm professional but i really want people to understand what had happened now there were screenshots taken of it and sent to other board members that was not right somebody said that i yelled at another person the only time i've ever yelled in a school is when another kid set a kid's hair on fire in my classroom that has been the only time i have ever yelled i've never yelled at a kid i've never yelled at another adult so there's no chance that i've ever done that next the ce the cea has no favorites we are a democratic organization we will read the questionnaires discuss the responses as well as what has occurred over the past year and a half and the other forums what the cea wants to see is a well-informed cat well informed candidates who researched the same themes and had specific information especially concrete information not information based on personal ideas or emotions the board of ed position is one of the most important positions in a town the center to everything for students and staff board of members must take yearly governance workshops as well as other ones that are offered to improve one's knowledge in the realm of education and policy as a president of my association i have 12 pages of my transcript of everything that i have accomplished to be able to have this position i've worked hard and i only want the best with the kids and the staff and the board of ed members and i know that i would be happy to talk to anybody you have my number and if there's ever an issue i wish you would reach out to me knowledge is like money to be of value it must circulate and in circulating it can increase in quantity and hopefully in value knowledge has to be improved challenged and increased constantly or it vanishes thank you very much thank you al the wah clifton i had the privilege of going to candidate tonight this past week also and while the questions were somewhat uh i guess hard on the candidates because they were based on a lot of state mandates most of the answers you would hear or well the state is landing this and the state is mandating that and a lot of them were somewhat new types of ideologies or other complicated things however at the end they were they asked the candidates to give their comments and one that stood out in my mind was um bashfords she said that right now with you know with what's happened in the last couple of years with covert and the schools suffering with um trying to get education to the children the state mandated testing takes a lot of time away from everyone and she felt that it was specifically not needed or could be maybe waived or something so i that that stood out to me because i've been coming up here asking that the board or whoever again i don't know all the technicalities and so i you know just forgive me for that but who should write whoever down in the state maybe a letter maybe we can do something even this year because we have had a lot of setbacks with time and tell them hey this is not necessary one of the answers that kept coming up was oh this is a state mandated program so when they were asking about diversity and equity and inclusion crt lgbt and one of the mothers got up near the end but it was breaking up and she said nobody's talking about family and god and community or anything it's all these strange questions and it was i was happy with the meeting and and i agree with this lady here that the board is is something special because i was able to speak to five members and i've never spoken to anyone prior to that so we all met for the first time and it was so much different when i spoke to you as in person and how you sit up there and looks like you're ignoring and you can't comment because the legal has your hands tied and you were wonderful all five years were like wonderful to talk to so it really changed my attitude about years and i hope we can have dialogue again personally because that was great and i think a lot of people would be happy if there was a way of connecting with some of you again i don't know the legal aspects i'm not i'm not a big fan of state mandate or legality i had brought up my uh walden disobedience and i was going to quote from there but i i just figured i won't do it today but um i i liked what happened today how you've you know modified the mask a little bit made it more human mr robert jose i hope you stand by that we're not going to give in this time no matter who comes in there's enough of us in clifton to hold them off so we'll be behind you so i you know that that's great when you start acting like that i think that's going to affect everybody but you know that stood out and if there's something that we can do now for this if it does really affect the children or the curriculum that's up to you guys to decide but i think that was important and thank you thank you samantha basford so i wasn't going to get up tonight but there's been a common theme this week that's been driving me crazy and it's specifically about gender and norms there were comments made about people will graduate clifton high school and then start families you know that may not be always the case because of economic status i'm not saying anybody here but just regarding bored things and that only moms would be concerned about chicken patties when there are dads who are actively active and i think it's just an important thing to remember that not everyone falls into a specific silo because of their physical passing presence and i think we often forget that that just because i am a cisgender woman i dress like a woman that may not be who i what i identify with and i think that when we are running for positions especially positions with title with presence um that we remember that everyone is an individual and that they are different and it's okay for their differences and to be celebrated with their differences um and i know a lot of people on facebook are watching have been commenting and although this may not be a board specific thing it is a platform to speak so you if you are those individuals who have been negatively impacted by comments that have been made this week specifically that surround elections um i support you um i'm here with open arms i think there's many people in the community who support you and embrace who you are and your differences so um if those comments hurt you and they cause you to struggle just remember that there's other people who do accept you because you don't have to fit into a box you don't have to fit into a label you just have to fit into who you are thank you thank you almost there hi zuma mendoza clifton it's my first time doing this so i'm kind of unfamiliar with everything with the board but i'll give it a shot with all those special needs moms that have kids with special needs maybe it's only my case that is related but i'll give it a try my son right now he has you know our condition that he has epilepsy he was recently had brain surgery on september 13 and he hasn't been able to attend school so the program that he's assigned to be in at this point they claim to be that there's no school in clifton that has it available for him because of his wheelchair status they claim they're all of them they're on the second floor and they don't have access to that and they also don't have public transportation they don't have transportation available that could fit a wheelchair so i don't know if it's anything that is gonna be done by you know cases like this i refuse to believe that my son is the only one in clifton that uses a wheelchair i think there's more kids like this um you know i've been trying to get all the paperwork ready and everything to send it to school and see you know if it's any special accommodations but so far i haven't got the answers they've been discussing this with this case manager and um the supervisor as well i tried this week to get in contact with the um clifton uh board of education superintendent i got in contact with the assistant and she told me that i had to get in contact with the supervisor i have gotten in contact with the people and i appreciate everything that they're doing for my case but again i refuse to believe that my son is the only one so it must be an answer for me out there i just you know i wish i could just get in touch with somebody that had more answers than these people you know on the line like case managers or case supervisors that they're not able at this point to give me an answer thank you ma'am we're going to ask to get your name and number and we'll have someone contact you so you can discuss that with them thank you next i could i could okay thank you ma'am where the superintendent will have uh direct somebody to get in touch with you tomorrow thank you anyone else wish to address the board seeing no one else i'd like to make a motion to close motion closed by vice president casper second by who was i dr uh danny all right the uh we were going to so right now we have a seven year spread next year we'll have an eight year spread and so forth so let's look at the 2020 year first because that's the most recent available year because of the actuary of competitions and such the third yellow highlighted number under 2020 is where i want to draw your attention first that shows a negative thousand 525 hundred and sixty seven dollars that bracketed number is a very happy number for you all because under this presentation format that is a negative liability that is to say that right now your pension fund at the end at june 30 is over funded relative to the actuarial calculations specifically the actuaries have calculated with the various impacts that number of employees raises that are expected life expectancy and so forth they've calculated that your total pension liability is twelve million eight hundred and twenty five thousand dollars they also have pr you also have assets in place of 13 million these are highlighted numbers 13 million three hundred and fifty one thousand so that you have as i said a positive asset balance within your pension fund of five hundred and twenty five thousand now i would not run out and spend that this week if you look back just two years ago two years to the right of that 525 000 is highlighted you can see that you had a liability of 1 million three hundred and eighty seven thousand so this is driven by changes in actuarial assumptions and it's also driven by the results of the marketplace so one of the benefits that you all have received now you and other state of illinois pensions if you go up from the 13 million 330 the third number in that little grouping is and twenty 1 thousand that represents the investment earnings allocated to your plan this year and one million nine thirty two last year so those two really outstanding years have helped drive you from the unfunded 1 million 387 that you were in at the end of night at the end of 18 to a positive funding status of 525 000 at the end of 20.

please mr abbey driving yes i'm standing awad yes miss bassford yes miss beltran yes mr canoba yes mr daley yes dr danny yes larry vice president casper yes president smith yes motion carries all right next we'll do uh financing facilities motion we have f1 through f8 we have a motion by uh mr aberdrabbo second by miss dr danny any discussion seeing none roll call please mr abadraba yes absolutely g7 mr awad yes miss basford uh yes to all i'm standing on f10 number four six three one i have a conflict with dance world academy thank you mr beltran yes mr canova yes mr daley yes dr danny yes vice president casper yes president smith yes just clarification i don't i don't see an f10 it it i i believe you might use the facilities right use the facilities for 4631 it was for the use for dance world academy my family has a long-standing relationship with those people so i'm abstaining no i just didn't see an f10 no i'm sorry that's all okay uh did i say yes yes okay we now have a presentation from our director of technology mr eric mountain you're up mr mountain i think the board can stay here we're going to see it on this tv okay i know me just waiting on a clarification for whether this is uh an executive session item or not please bear with us for a second okay so this will be a public presentation the board will remain in public for this so give them a second to set it up just wait one minute for everybody to come back because i know this was a couple people that just stepped down yeah let's just wait one minute is danny's back there where's mr awad is he back there he's here back there all right everyone's here okay so for the public's education uh the board is considering allowing the public to call in to board meetings and or video into board meetings so this is just a presentation to show us how each of these mechanisms could work so that the board could make a decision on that and then policy set up a policy on it so just for the public's etiquette this is just informational to the board to show us how each of these items can be done technologically want to use miss passwords uh microphone oh you have another mic sure so um basically what we have is the same zoom software that that you've been using um while we were on remote meeting schedule so i have an example here where there's two web call-ins which would work for the video call-in system and then um if anyone wants to call in uh you wanna call in there or give here i'll show you what it looks like if a caller were to come in when on a cell phone or other phone system all right so the zoom they would appear on this screen yes and then we would just take each person as they come into the to the to the zoom that's correct yes mr mountain let me know and i'll call in sure absolutely you can call right now so what i'm showing you here is that obviously this is the zoom meeting i'm stepping in front of my own camera here and on the right hand side that's what zoom calls the waiting room so you could have any number of people here whether you choose to call in or video in you can see right now i have myself i have public 2 waiting right now to come into the meeting and so as the uh host of the meeting all i would have to do is click admit and that person would be part of the meeting and on screen i believe one or two or three of you are calling right now the show 800 number to call in good so if they're calling in they're not part of the zoom they're part of something else nope it's actually the exact same system obviously they're not going to be on camera but you can see there's a cell phone caller right here and so if i click admit then that person would also be part of the meeting obviously just with the audio okay so somebody has to physically be administering this correct what you're going to probably have is i'm making up numbers anywhere between two and ten people on any given night so yes someone will have to go through and say okay public two you're up or eric you're up or cell phone and again one two three four europe etc and the people viewing channel 77 on cable they'll be able to view the zoom and view and hear the callers calling in the viewing is going to be difficult um they're definitely going to have audio we have confirmation that we have all the audio that we can tap into this system that system etc but the the camera shot itself how well it portrays what you're seeing on this screen or we could make it a bigger screen that would be no problem um but the audio will definitely be there they just for just arriving in the waiting room and they told me so i can mute star mute star and then if you were to speak then that audio would come through the computer here and we would pipe that into the the auditorium sound so which would also be broadcast on 77 and in the live stream yes yes i can hear you through here we're just not tapped in live to the the system here so mr mountain the the camera that you have on that laptop right now yep that's assuming that that would be the camera like they're using on us usually for for channel 77 and that's what would be fed to the individual on the phone is that how it would work right now it's just capturing a wide shot of you as a group we could reconfigure this i mean i i i had set up for a pre uh board of ed meeting i didn't know we were doing this at this time so we could set the shot however you prefer but right now it's a single shot coming out of here because this is the the computer that's running zoom so the caller would be able to see all of us and they would be speaking to us we would hear them through where the audio would be coming through this computer but we would pipe that into the auditorium and also on the live feed as well okay anyone else have questions yes legal please the derelicts so the caller that if a caller can when a caller call calls a member of the public calls everybody's going to be able to hear what the member of the public is saying that's correct yes okay great and um just to be clear somebody asked about channel 77 channels the people that are watching channel 77 what they can see is what's here on the on the on the auditorium on the stage so they would be able to see whatever is seen on that screen that's correct the channel 77 would capture everything as it normally does it's just i can't say that the how well it captures this particular image but certainly the audio would be there yes exactly okay so so channel 77 viewers will be able to hear whatever a caller says they may or may not be able to see that screen depending on where the screen is located that's obviously if the screen is right in front of us then they can see the screen yeah and just so the commissioners know we just had to set up before your meeting we could reposition anything you know put the screen over there there larger screen smaller screen whatever whatever you would prefer one more and just one more question just to be clear so right now it would be set up so that somebody could call in with audio but you said also that it could be set up so that somebody if somebody wanted to they could call in through with video yes okay so if i'm at home and i log in on a zoom meeting with video then i could be seen as a member of the public correct just as you all experienced for 12 or 15 months earlier it's the exact same scenario like we did right like we did during the during lockdown and you would let people in from the waiting room correct okay great thank you is it possible to take will we go to public comment to take the feed from the zoom and send that to channel 77 so you can see us on one side and the caller on the other so they can see both sides of that yeah we could hash out a couple of different things what what our primary objective was to make sure the audio because i believe that was the requirement for the audio to be so that the caller would hear everything and then those present and also watching the live stream would hear everything but we could hash out a couple of different video options and uh when a caller calls in is their phone number displayed it is on this particular screen but we can have that hidden so that it wouldn't be broadcast out to the public so the public wouldn't see it now the person who's going to be doing all this are they what's the word i want to use are they pre examining the people calling in to make sure when it's a legitimate call etc or we just anyone who's calling in file i'm in that's up to you um to be honest we've never done that through our you know 15 18 months of doing this remotely but the capability exists if you wanted to have someone in a quote whether it's a classroom across the hall um they could be admitting and pre-screening on a separate session uh it just depends on how much how much human power you want to put into this yes they're lease so that that's something for the board to discuss it would be the board can can make a decision through can create a policy and make a decision that callers would have to be on video or that there are different ways of doing this because this is all new this this type of hybrid um it's what we it's what we're calling hybrid meetings in person as well as virtual so it would require just a board policy to determine you know what the parameters are going to be are you going to just have callers without id are you going to have it on video only all of those things yeah if you think about it an in-person meeting somebody can somebody comes up here we don't we don't ex we don't look for identification to make sure that you know joe smith is really joe smith it's we take the word of whoever's coming up to the to the to the to the lectern and i think if you let me just um so i apologize if it's a little bit disjointed of a presentation it was just uh we wanted to present the different options that you have so um thank you for saying it that way i think basically whatever the decision is we'll we'll make that work um based on the purview of the board there are a number of districts in new jersey that are doing this as i was i was doing a presentation on this last night um at the morris county school boards association meeting and there are a number the most important people were you guys because you know you you connect with one another and and see all the different types of technology and and configurations that you can come up with but it's it's ultimately going to be up to the board to determine what rules you want to lay down on for on public comment if it's going to be a hybrid meeting as long as it complies with the open public meetings act right mr awad could you find mr abhijabo i'd like board members here everyone else is here could you go locate them uh on the zoom [Music] so when we did zoom when we were at home our zoom was on our our chromebooks but here it won't be it'll be on on that well that i'm i'm laughing because that's another layer of possibility okay everyone wanted to join in like you had before um that's that's doable what we were trying to do is consolidate to have one zoom screen for the you know the board to watch up here but what you're describing is also possible would there be any benefit to that though what well only because it's going to be very difficult to see a person on that screen from over there yeah and we can certainly do it if i can see it you can see it on your chromebook oh you know what i mean yeah this screen is here for demo purposes we could do a larger screen if that was and how about how about the people in the audience how are they how are they seeing this or hearing i'm hearing it obviously they're going to hear it on the audio but how are they going to view this do we do we have are we putting a screen out for the audience as well i mean i know you're going to say that's a possibility is it a possibility absolutely okay because i i think it's important the public that's here at the meeting also needs to see or hear what's going on and call in and vice versa so the people that call in are going to hear our comments via the zoom yes whether they come in with a with them in a picture or they come with them in just on audio that's correct yes wait so so basically we're basically we're we're on zoom doing it this way we are all on zoom so the person that's at home is just logging into a zoom meeting and sees us i could call in just like is that not the way it is that's correct that's absolutely correct yes so so i have a question is zoom staying open all the time never goes through the chair ever [Music] open the whole time because you said that they could hear us as a as giving comments later on in board comments but is it staying on the whole time cause i thought we were just turning this on to accept comments and then turning it down oh it would be on the whole time i didn't understand but i was missing that myself i was assuming this was only for the public comment session yeah i mean my assumption is that it would have been i was assuming that you're going to do it the whole time the live stream and channel 77 tv that's not going anywhere so that's still going to be there for anyone who's just watching my assumption was this was only happening during public comments which was mine so okay okay i was the only one thinking that that's another configuration you could have thought we don't have that no you don't have to you can do it you can do it a variety of ways okay are there any other questions from the board concerning this all right mr mountain thank you very much technology we'll discuss this at the next meeting and then make a recommendation to the board and then uh policy will also have to visit it to make up some policies on on this uh mr uh thank you very much mr smith yes mr robert in the meantime can we have policy meet to see what a policy would look like so when we do meet next time we have it in front of us i didn't hear the first part can we ask policy to take a look at this as we say let's wait for the next meeting this way we can look at policy and talk about at the same time rather than wasting meetings does that make sense well technology should should make a recommendation to the board and then policy would take that and make the policy from that because a lot of a lot of different questions came out here today that the the technology committee will have to present to the board mr smith um if technology brings it to policy we'll meet whenever we can we're pretty adaptable yeah okay mr smith yeah yes where are we mr daley and then i'll get you yeah just just a comment um uh first of all thank you mr mountain and your team there for for that demonstration um [Music] if the board decided to move forward i would like to see this as a pilot before we get into hard policy because you know i'd like to see it in action uh with you know let's have a maybe two or three months pilot and then we could get i get a better grasp because even though the demonstration i understood it to see it in action would be a little different and and i might have different opinions going forward so um if we do my personal opinion is that i would like to see this as a pilot before we move forward on a full-time basis i i agree 100 but i think even on a pilot we have to have some type of policy set up for it right now you could have guidelines absolutely guidelines there you go right and it's also going to take two readings right exactly mr smith yes i'm sorry sorry just one more thing i would have my my suggestion would be and i'm sure you guys have thought about this already is talk to some other boy there are a number of boards of education out there that are doing this talk to them so that you can get the pros and the cons from them because they have the real hands-on experience on how they've been on how they've been doing this is there uh at least in passaic uh county is their pacific school school boards meeting but i know uh mr smith i know that our attorney was presenting in morris county did you meet any boards that use it as a matter of fact i did last night i read the agendas and um and i can get you the names of the um the school districts that are bloomfield is one of them off the top of my head mine hill is another those are two different size school districts bloomfield is large mine hill is tiny um and there were several others that use um hybrid hybrid meetings and overall they were all happy that would be good for the board because we could we could actually see another boots on the ground they know what they know they have had the experience so can you you get us a list of that ones that you know yes absolutely i don't know if you have a round table coming up with passaic county supers anytime soon was last week school board state county school boards meeting anytime soon just had it okay all right so let's see what we can find and if we get a couple of schools that we could at least go and and view it'll give us a better uh better idea as mr daley said in a pilot maybe we can get some ideas from other schools to enhance this and do it right so um okay uh so we are going to go into executive session uh before uh board member comments because we have um we have a contract matter we have a personnel matter action will may or may not be taken when we return for the public i'm going to guesstimate um 45 minutes in executive session could be longer we hope to be back as quickly as possible um so a motion to go into executive session please so moved my vice president casper second by dr danny roll call please yes mr abu drabo executive session to go into executive session mr awak roll call to go on an executive session yes um just mr smith this is um um a comment maybe since we do have some guests here that we should do our comments before we go since they'll be close to midnight when we come back yeah we have employees that are waiting in for executive session that's why i'm going we had always said we didn't want to keep employees here later than then we have to so that's why we're going now that's the only reason all right no problem mr abhijabo you mr awad yes password yes ms beltran yes mr kanova yes mr daley yes dr danny yes vice president casper yes uh president smith yes okay all right if we get all five minute break if you need to go to the anywhere and uh where are we meeting yeah i don't know i think it's the same one that we had last meeting check one two two two check check check check one two two check check one two two two one two two two seems like it's better check check check check one two two two check check one two two two check check one two the board met in executive session to uh discuss uh contract matter and a personnel matter um at this time we're not doing any action correct okay this time there's no action we'll move on with the agenda oh do we have to take a roll call back okay i'm sorry roll call back from executive mr abbott mr abu dhabi mr awad here ms fastford not intentionally mr canova here mr daley he always forgets dr danny no he called you here vice president casper here president smith here i didn't hear my name called she caught he called you i but i didn't hear it because you guys are all talking i'm here okay we're going to start with board member comments uh we're starting with uh mr konova tonight uh good evening everyone i'm going to keep this brief tonight i just want to thank all our speakers everyone who came out our award winners tonight testing uh i just want to remind everyone that last year was a very different year than any other year so any of those numbers you saw i know me personally i'm just looking at him just to look at him i don't think they really count towards anything i did i think our students in our administration did an amazing job and what they had um so me personally i'm not even paying attention to them uh election now now's your chance to have your voice be heard so just make sure everyone you come out and you vote um if you've lost your mail and ballot make sure you get a provisional and make sure you vote in person so that your vote could count just because you lost your balance doesn't mean you can't vote so make sure you keep that in mind and everyone just have a happy and safe halloween thank you okay thank you mr daley you're next thank you mr president first of all i want to thank paulo rosago uh for the presentation and congratulations again to james and joseph zunigeri um also like to again about election day uh it's my personal feeling that this the country's democracy is at its uh most vulnerable it has in centuries and by reversing that everybody needs to get if you're eligible to vote go out and vote we need to shore up our democracy otherwise we're surely to lose it as mr franklin said we either hang together or we hang separately so we also like to i like to welcome andy to our board meetings as a student representative and get out and support our teams and that concludes my comments thank you thank you next is uh dr danny um once again condolences to the two families um especially the saint claire family that i am uh close with um thank you to all the speakers congratulations to both the zunga's children's on their pbsis accomplishments i want to again uh welcome to the new student representative andrew srotsky and just on closing you know get out vote and exercise your right thank you that's it thank you next is mr abu drabo um not much tonight but besides the fact that some people need to learn the word compassion and understand that a fight that took place and i i'm still distraught about it to be honest because to understand that one person is not from our school but yet others are whether from our school or not we teach our children better of how to deal with people using our fists or how to open our mouths i mean when we were younger we saw fights and we didn't know any better but we're learning in schools that that doesn't work hello oh but yet when you don't use that out in the real world it's like taking learning something in school and not using it properly in the real world it just becomes useless um and another part of compassion is you know i stepped out um because there was a young lady who is obviously was obviously visibly pregnant and there was no reason for her to move further than she had to because it's tough as it is when being pregnant some people don't know and i followed her out and i actually on the back of mr hamda's business card when he was out there i wrote down the superintendent's email because there's no reason for her to come back down here for an issue like that and some people have a problem with that um and if they do i don't know what to tell you um as a human being i'm gonna do that whether you somebody else thinks it's right or wrong because a young lady like that should not be coming down here that late and staying the whole entire time just because she has an issue with her child in school particularly when people are giving her the wrong information and our superintendent as i tell as i even told her is 150 reliable and easy to reach out to and contact and that should be the case she came down to the board of ed meeting we should be helping her and that's exactly what i did so i feel good about myself other than that that's the word of tonight compassion um and being human is just who we are and people don't like that don't tell you [Music] okay next is mr awad i yield one time okay next is uh miss bassford yes good evening dr robert tuzi could you please share that fundamentals of school board membership with the whole board please that bruce sent you all of us today um congratulations to the ccms students uh thank you to dr robitazi and the staff for the tour of the upgraded um cafeteria it's beautiful i can't wait to see the things that are going to come out of that also thank you for listening to me about to see something say something to put it more prominently on the website so people can go i'd like to see an intense training for all students staff administration and community on dei and bystander training after the what was witnessed on social media last night we need to take a look into everything from the bottom up the top down so we can we can be more effective as bystanders and what we should be doing as well don't forget to get out and vote uh good luck to all the hsa ptos ptas on your trunk or treats i know you have really good things planned uh missile llama it's all about roles and responsibilities and following the rules that's something that people need to work on my words to mr um got up and talked about what i talked about teaching to the test i don't believe that we should be testing every year i think it should be modified i know that a bunch of my colleagues from other districts are trying to use their voice to get those yearly tests taken away so we want to modify teaching to the test and make it spread out somehow so the teachers are not overburdened if anything we've learned from covet is what we are the stress we are putting on human beings as well um to the mom that came to the mic i know that the superintendent and the staff will be reaching out to you get out and vote on tuesday if you decide to vote early your voice is important everybody's voice is important i thank everybody for listening to me in the last couple of forums it was a great experience for me and for the people that came to came out i hope you learned something good night hey thank you uh miss beltran miss belchon okay i'm gonna keep it brief uh thank you for all the speakers coming out i'm really enjoying hearing all the different perspectives and i expect especially liked hearing from the school rep um in the past we've always heard positive things about the school but i like that he really took it uh to us and listed you know four or five different things that he sees and his fellow classmates see that need some change and i hope the plastic dividers really help because i can barely even see um dr robertosi from here with all the glare that's going on and the desk wiping as well i think that's uh that's something that should be looked into um in addition to that i was a victim of bullying when i was in middle school you know now i come across as a very strong individual you know strong women but in the past i wasn't always this way and um i was bullied to the point of violence in middle school um and back then it was handled a little bit different where everyone got suspended even people who are defending themselves or who were you know involved in any way and i think the whole entire world right now is kind of lacking empathy there was another attack this weekend in um a septa train in philadelphia that was horrific um attack on a woman and everyone just filmed it um and they for 27 train stops and i feel like it's even happening we're seeing it live here in middle school level that no one said anything and they film it and put it online um it's just you know it's something that's totally wrong with our society not just here in clifton and maybe you know there's there's probably going to be some sort of national trainings that are going to come out or you know expertise in the psychology world that could maybe help us uh to maybe change the world just a little bit here in clifton um the election is upon us so please inform yourself on candidates and make the best choices for you and your family uh the future of clifton is always at stake every time there is an election and that's all i have for this evening thank you mr canova oh you weren't already sorry you started mr uh vice president mr casper okay i'd like to welcome andrew to our deus here i hope we are able to work with you and the students in their school district to help help keep us uninformed and help us present to our students what they need in their classrooms i'd like to thank the daughters of american revolution for your generous donation i appreciate every time i see in the agenda that we are receiving all of these donations and i'd also like to send my deepest condolences to the sinclair and chris families for your losses my thoughts and prayers are with you during your time of loss have a good night everybody thank you i am first obviously would like to uh invite and thank andrew for being part of the board meetings another crew of people that i i forget to thank but i appreciate them so much mr mcconney mr mecca and your entire crew um you guys do an exceptional job uh each and every meeting and uh people don't see you you're behind the scenes so i just want to say thank you to all of you and i'm sorry it's a late night tonight but thank you for all that you guys do um the election please get out and vote i i wish my colleagues all the very best in the election and um i ask everyone to please make sure they get out and vote um i remind everyone that our next our next board meeting is not going to be here in the high school it will be at seal of b c l b is located on brighton road uh so our november meeting which i believe is november 18th right yes november 18th uh at 7 p.m at sea la b on brighton road if you wish to come to the meeting please come there not to the high school it will be televised as well and that will be our new home for at least november and december and then we'll update everybody after that on on where we'll be but uh the high school is starting to use this uh stage for their productions and uh assemblies and etc so uh we have to vacate uh and go to celebi all right so just to remind everyone of that and you know everyone uh halloween has not been halloween since the the covet started and this is going to be like the first halloween that the kids could really get out and go and but just remember to be safe we don't want to hear of any problems and everything on halloween but have a great halloween enjoy it and be safe and now that's all i have thank you motion to adjourn motion by mr abigail second by vice president casper any objection meeting adjourned you

now if the market were to crash tomorrow then your report in 22 would be impacted by that negatively so that's why they want to do a 10-year trend to show you what's happening so from a trend perspective to give you a sense of the volatility and the dollars involved in 2014 you began the year so really july 1 2013 you began the year with liabilities of eight million seven hundred and eighty three thousand dollars six years later six sorry eight four years later all of fourteen fifty six seven seven four years later that liability of eight million seven eighty three for the school district is now twelve million eight hundred and twenty five so you can see that it's increased your pension liability exposure actuarially has increased by four million forty one thousand dollars in that seven year period of time at the same time you can see that your assets into at the beginning of 2014 are highlighted at 8 million 653 they're now at 13 351.

so your assets have increased by 4 million 698 000 in that same period that your liabilities increased by a little more than 4 million which is how it is you come to have a surplus to some 525 000 and then just to again drive home the importance of your portfolio in the last two years the 4 million 698 000 increase in assets the 20 and 19 increase in net investment income was 3 million 650 so a significant portion now that's somewhat by design is supposed to be driven by investments i would also point out the school district has if you look and it'll be done the contributions from employer every year are made on time in full as computed by the actuary so you have done everything that the state of illinois actuaries have suggested you should do every single year so you have put in somewhere between a million eight and two million dollars in contributions over the last seven years which also by the way is how you end up with a positive liability which is to say an overfunded status of 525 000.

it's really a lot more fun to end on that note than to tell you as i had to in some years that you were underfunded by two million dollars so on that i'm going to pause and see if anyone has any questions and if not mr chairman i would only ask that you approve the audit the following year we're at 1.9 so it's a 2.5 million dollar swing what's the reason for negative earnings in the investment income so negative earnings is simply the market crash that year relative to your investments and so as the market went down in that particular year now they do a they the actuaries have a specific calculation so it isn't as simple as pull up the old wall street journal and look at the beginning of the year and the end of the year and the difference they do a smoothing of activity over a number of years but if that line item is a hundred percent market driven and so when the when the stock market went down or when interest rates cratered and drove down the value of your bonds that reflects itself in that negative number that's why they want to put a seven to ten year spread because you can't react to any one year notwithstanding i would just said how exciting it is to be overfunded because it's always better to be over funded and underfunded but you've got to look at the seven year trend when you look at that seven year trend by the way six of the seven years were positive any other questions comments does this would be an accident uh i believe that what we've always done is approved it at this point in time okay so just to accept it yeah to accept it right any other discussions questions comments would it be like to make a motion to accept the financial report as presented i'll make the motion tammy andrea corey yes greg meyer yes scott middle camp all right lisa schumacher yes tyson search yes adam hampton yes sammy hines yes and thank you jim for your presentation and uh congratulations very much and you know i should say because a couple of my uh staff wanted me to make sure that i specifically mentioned how nice the staff treated them they're not used to that from some of our clients auditors aren't always the most popular folks in the room but your staff was especially receptive and so they enjoy coming out and frankly because the records are in such good shape it makes it easy because it's a lot less stressful when you've got to go through and figure out why stuff is mucked up so this is a happy audit i'd like to thank julie for all your work on this i know that's behind the scenes and it's as a board member it's very refreshing to get a report like this so thank you very much all right on to our communication report we have our enrollment report everything that's presented all right administrative reports building report parkview today parkview today all right it's a parkview day so this is why we're working on you see the pinky yes yes that's right dressed impressed um so i'll start parkview students participated in our annual fundraiser by selling chocolate bars this year students took home boxes of 60 assorted chocolate bars to sell at one dollar a bar our students sold 812 boxes of chocolate so i'm curious any show of hands anybody get hit up for chocolate bars it'd be hard to believe that not everyone up here did our kids were very excited and i was blown away because we originally had 400 boxes brought in and i was worried that we weren't going to sell 400 boxes and i think within the first three days 400 boxes went out the door so we were scrambling to try to get more chocolate so i was kind of happy to finally end it after 812 boxes um and our students get prizes for selling um a certain number of boxes so they're anxiously awaiting them trying to get all our prizes in line we still have to make a few phone calls but some of the prizes that they sold one box there's a cash and candy grab two bar three boxes there's a silly string battle with the principal and then uh pizza and then uh four boxes a limo ride and and lunch and then we have prizes all the way up to nine boxes and uh that's a five five pound chocolate bar so yeah so they were excited about that um tonight teachers right now are wrapping up parent-teacher conferences um they have two more well one more night and then a morning many of our teachers have been here all day long pta was awesome to provide dinner for our teachers it was in a teacher's lives and it was delicious so we want to thank them for that speaking of pta tomorrow night is pta movie night at here at parkview the blacktop playground we're going families are encouraged to show up by 6 pm to get situated get your seats with the movie beginning at 6 30.

it's i think it's going to be kind of chilly so make sure you dress dress warm the feature is going to be the 2019 animated film the addams family which is rated pg admission is free concessions are being sold there for pta next week we have red ribbon week and i believe all the schools throughout the district are doing this at parkview we're focusing on drug prevention awareness so all of our days are going to be geared around healthy making healthy choices monday we're having kids wear red and we're going to say keep your heart and body healthy and teachers will be doing lessons on making healthy choices wednesday another example work out for a stronger you kids can wear workout clothes which i know teachers love that also and we have veterans day approaching and parkview kind of has three things planned but i know every bill in the district is doing something special for veterans day the parkview students will be bringing in the names of family members who have served in our military and then we will create an honor wall with these names in our music hallway and actually once it all gets up it's kind of impressive how many people that these kids have in their family people that have that been part of colombia that are have been in the military so it's really kind of an impressive thing mr dugan takes care of reading about the branch's responsibilities and we listened to their anthem i'll tell you my favorite is the navy one during the morning announcements on the week of veterans day one a day then on november 10th we will take all of parkview up to the veterans memorial for the park in the park for the pledge and morning announcements there's also a plaque there mr dugan will talk a little bit about the plaque and then the students and teachers are not in class on veterans day thursday december december november 11th wow and then the parkview is also having an in-person book fair which we're really excited about so the students will go to the book fair uh the week of november 15-19 they'll go during their regular scheduled library time however mrs rose will have the book fair open to parents and families wednesday after school from three to eight so she puts in a little extra hours to make sure our families can get to the book fair also on a cea note iea was giving away micro grants for social activities to boost morale with teachers and we were awarded one so on november 4th we're going to gather at the sandbank school which is the one by 11 south and eat drink be merry might be a little competitive corn hole game happening too but i'm not sure about that also the cea walked in the homecoming parade for the first time and we gave out pencils for a parade of viewers and walked did a lot of waving and things like that so that was kind of a fun thing too so that's parking in a oh nutshell you very much very nice i appreciate that uh next is our assistant superintendent reporter yeah alyssa smith's with family our thoughts and prayers are with them um she did send out an email to the board regarding the book study that we're doing on ron clark move your boss if you're interested go to the email and you can sign yourself up but uh that's really all we have for that report so can we move into the i'll just keep talking just keep on going just keep on going all right um we were named oh first foias we had three in this last month it was um one of our biggest ones now we have had the quarterly smart procure that we're all used to they they do that every every quarter to find out who we sell things to or buy things from local labs was a new one they were asking for covid related data regarding our students and uh faculty and we did not we responded in a timely manner we didn't really keep that data the way that they wanted it and then we had data research partners that sent to sephora looking at names and salaries of the employees and we responded to that in a timely manner so we had three we responded to all of them um now on to the report we were are named in the states mask and isolation suit um i'll update the board more in closed session today but november 5th is our court date um whatever they rule on november 5th which is a friday an email will go out over the weekend to inform the parents as to what was the court's decision so that monday on the 8th they know where we stand regarding the temporary restraining order right now um the restraining order is to not require masks so masks would become optional if they award that and also not to isolate students so there'd be no quarantining for close contact um literally you can go through all the permutations they could deny the temporary restraining order they could grant part of it they could and so we won't know until the fifth and on the weekend will notify the parents so that they know what the ruling was and how their kids are coming to school on monday the 8th as mentioned last month moving on to the next subject the city's expect experiencing growth which is good you've got the bluff bluff ridge estates you've got the timber rocks estates you've got walnut ridge and country crossings those are in the works and there's other ones that are planned and not yet finalized so we're still looking at that influx of families we need to look at our facilities currently east eagleview is packed the high school is packed i'm not saying that there's plenty of room at the middle school and parkview but they are definitely not as packed as the other two so we're gonna need to do a facility studies um we need to brainstorm object options for this we need to develop a long-term plan um one of the nice things is is the auditor pointed out our bonds are going to be paid off in four years so we'd be able to without changing the tax rate sell more bonds for any any construction that might be necessary with that what i recommend and we'll talk more about this uh later but is a committee of the whole structure where pretty much on every month from here on out we're going to have a an action item or a discussion item where we discuss this situation that we have the first thing i'm going to do is put together a historical trend i've got the historical trend of where it's gone what i need to do is overlay what construction has happened in the last 10 years what subdivisions have been added and how did that affect our enrollments you know as we look then forward and we project into the future we've got these places that are being built should we see similar enrollment trends and and things of that nature um but there's going to be a lot of work that's going to need to happen over the next year as we really try and figure out how to deal with this thing and so the first test is to break down the steps and plan the work and that's going to be on next month's meeting and start looking at some of the data if there's any questions or concerns or comments regarding that um please give me a phone call but uh that's gonna be a repairing item it's gonna be the the probably the number one thing that we really need to look at and with that that is all i have for the superintendent's report all right items for action we have nothing this evening so let's go on to our discussion items first is the is iasb resolutions yeah and this is you've all got them in your in your packets the there are what um so there's 20 some resolutions the best way to go through this is i i've looked over all of them and it ends with each one of them if you support or oppose that's what they're recommending you do i will say that i don't there's none that really popped out to me except for item number 15 under new resolutions child safe gun storage uh it the iasb's committee is recommending that we oppose that one and that sounds interesting mr duggan's eyes just go up what do you mean we're not wanting child safe gun storage in that and it does sound odd to be opposing that the rationale for that is is because the the ref the the thing that they're advocating is to control what happens in the home and the illinois association of school boards feel strongly that they should control what happens in schools they should try and legislate what happens in schools and other organizations will deal with what goes on in the home it's not that they don't want to have safety for this but last year we had a community member that spoke about this and wanted us to support this and so i just want to point out that last year we did have a community member that supported it or wanted us to support it um i get that we want safe kids safe families iasb says that we you know they're recommending that we oppose it we can vote either way uh tammy's gonna attend the meeting and maybe that's the first good one that we should discuss and then really kind of look at it is there anything else that pops out but uh where do we stand on the child safe gun storage i think that community community member will be at the next meeting okay thinking it would be discussed right before we because usually we discussed it right before we went to the state well i can tell i read through it and i i conclude we should oppose it but i think it's overreach there's already rules for older for young kids and gun safety storage but this is just taking another level is there anyone that feels strongly in the other way i'm almost with tammy here on this one though is is this something we can do next month and actually publish this so the public can have an input and find out if there's anything strong the public wants in here or is that yeah i mean we can we can do that we i don't think that there's anything wrong with us scanning this putting it on our website directing parents to it as to what they do and have them contact you if they well i remember in the past we've had people that have shown up to speak on resolutions that they feel strongly about and i feel i represent the community and i kind of would like to have the community input on it personally okay what do you guys think i do have a question on that one though because i went through each of these and i marked like yes or no if i was for it or not because i thought we'd maybe go around although we've never done that before where we've gone around and said do we support or oppose it and we probably need to do that because i don't know necessarily how to vote unless you guys tell me yeah well what we've done what we did last year here was we we discussed the child's the the child safe gun storage because that was brought up right and that was the one that we i believe we voted in congruence with isb to to to oppose it but then we just discussed all of them as a whole and does anybody differ from what the recommendation from the subcommittee is and i don't think there was any differing from the subcommittees we can go through next month and and go through these really quickly and almost make them oh i think that child safe gun storage was from last year versus this year is the age and at home i think they were trying to increase the age i thought or dropped the age i don't remember anything about the age i'd have to go back and look but do we want to table this for next month i think we do and then have everybody take a look at these things and if they are if they're opposed to the the isb recommendation bring those things up or if there's something that that you feel very strongly about like greg said i mean we normally have i know at least one community member that comes in for for any kind of gun safety type of things and then that way um we can give tammy direct um you know direction as far as that goes and said say yeah you know we're going with all of them or or one of them might be hanging out there i know we've in the past in the past years we've always talked about items that may be not in alignment with what iasb is is recommending but right all right with that do you want me to that post this on our website is that possible yeah yeah we could scan it put it on the website i like the transparency of it so people get involved if they don't want to they most certainly don't have to but and that would be just a discussion on them again because we're just giving guidance to yeah there's no there's no no vote for us right tammy will vote at the meeting yep all right kick that can down the road all right um next time it's easy for kim to put out there too attorney and pdf yeah everything's easy for campus it's a great job all right individual board mentor comments anybody have anything [Music] no all right well i'm for present program i'm not gonna say anything that if you guys aren't so all right next item is to go into executive session and we're gonna go in for the purposes of appointment employment compensation discipline performance or the dismissal of a specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body or against legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity i'll make that motion and there will be no action coming out i just want to be clear on that this is a no action night so perfect have a motion to go into closed session i need to wait a second a second like adam girl cow please greg meyer yes all right this is yes tyson sir yes adam hampton yes kenny hi yes andrea all yes um you're all welcome to wait until we come back again there's no action items for after the meeting so i'm not sure how much interesting it will be but you're all welcome to rejoin us if you like all right we are back in open session uh there's no action items to take as a result of the executive session so with that i would entertain a motion to adjourn so moved thank you scott do i hear a second second at least the seconds uh roll call please tammy hampton yes heinz yes corey yes meyer yes middle camp hi schumacher yes search yes very good that concludes our meeting thank you very much for attending [Music] you

[Music] jerseyville illinois where the eagles take on the panthers and a game that got a win to get in you get a win here in the eagle you've got a chance of getting in it's going to come down to playoff points so pretty simple tonight you got to go 1-0 and if that happens good things may be in the future for you we're going to come to you with this week 9 match up with jared jared germain and alex schlemmer thank you all for listening to the aces wild pregame show jared how you doing tonight i'm doing pretty good alex how are you doing wonderful this game tonight you said you came and you played here a couple years ago and uh you said you guys it's the hardest hit you've ever taken we talked a little bit about that last week in the game and uh you said you know fond memories as you were making the drive back up here with me tonight yeah i mean you got to be ready when you come up here and play jerseyville these guys fly around and they they like to get their hats to the football so columbia coming into uh tonight they need to be ready for some big hits in a big week nine match up eagles come into the game four and four jerseyville's coming in two and six they have their senior night they had about 20 people i think out there for the band about 10 cheerleaders and i think 10 seniors so they're going through all of their festivities as you look across the way there the eagles are heading into the locker room to get those final preparations in a game that um last week when we played central we did everything we wanted to do we had those third and long opportunities for the defensive side of the ball and we just gave up those first downs and then we got the ball into the red zone got it into the 10-yard line we just couldn't get it in that was the first shutout since 2005 against brees eagles losing last week 20 to nothing and they came several different location occasions like i said first and goals uh one interception a couple of them just three and outs um jared you look at that game though we had that missed field goal early in the game and when they have those close games like that you need to catch a break and they had that tipped field goal had it not been tipped that's a roughing the kicker and then we get a first down yeah there was a lot of big plays that happened last week and that was uh i believe one of my coaches keys or last week's were taking away those big plays and they had two or three of those that uh cost us the game and we didn't even get any points on the board um but our defense played really well i'm hoping tonight our offense can come out and sling it around a little bit and vaguely can get himself in the end zone mcconaughey they put up some points last weekend or some yardage i guess i should say had 171 yards rushing vaguely though passing wise going three for 15 for 20 yards he had the two picks one of which happened we had the ball in the three-yard line late in the game there and uh that pretty much sealed the deal so but you're getting 171 yards rushing 133 of them are coming from mcconaughey is averaging seven yards of carry so we moved the ball we did what we needed to do when it boils down to it you know three and three times inside the seven that's 21 points potentially you lose the game 20 to nothing math serves correctly i think that gets you a victory so you know that's just something that we're gonna have to just you can't have that happen in those kind of games and that's just what happened with us but defensively like you said we did what we needed to do yeah and i think coming out on the offensive side of the ball tonight we might see coach horner use some stuff that he hasn't used all year it's a pretty good coaching staff over here in jerseyville so um he's probably got a couple tricks up his sleeve that he put in this week just so he can get to that week 10 match up and get out of here with the win defensively like we were saying we gave up a bunch of yards off on the ground and through the air and it just boiled down to it we had those long situations we gave up 189 yards though through the air and like we said we got those third and eights third and fifteens and then all of a sudden it was a 30 yard pass and that just kept those drives going gave up 118 yards on the ground and really it came from two different running backs so we did a great job containing that but then like i said 10 for 18 passing for 190 yards and the big receiver last week was uh braden reverman with 123 yards so they kind of i don't want to say they picked on any one in person in particular but they just found some voids and they just made the plays when they needed to yeah and i mean whenever we were shutting down the the run game almost the whole game they had nothing else to really go to besides those deep balls and we were getting beat on them and um up front we played really well linebackers played really well and hopefully uh tonight our secondary can can chip in as well and all together as one big defense we can get out of here with maybe a zero on the scoreboard we absolutely have the opportunity to jerseyville gives up a lot of points this year and they're not scoring too many but before we get into all of that we're gonna head into a break and then we will talk about the conference standings well we don't have to talk about conference standings it's over congratulations bree central we'll talk playoff pairings and everything like that and see what the outlook looks for whenever we return to the ace's wild pregame show after this [Music] welcome back in ladies and gentlemen today's wild pre-game from jerseyville high school where the eagles and the panthers are going to take off in a week nine match up on a chilly night the first time me and jared have had to been outside this year so jared's already got the hood up he's rocking back and forth he didn't bring his gloves though so we'll see by the end of the night i'm sure he's going to make a comment about not having those those gloves but you know whenever it comes to this part of the season you got to love the weather yeah and i'm not i guess i'll say we're only rolling on uh one microphone tonight because this guy forgot to bring two microphones up here so you don't have to call me out on that so we talked about columbia needing to get a win to get in so columbia's coming in four and four got to have five wins to get you into the playoffs possibly then it comes down to the playoff points and um opponents wins is another way of saying that so after that after that loss in week eight columbia is listed listed at 33rd position they only take 32 so columbia's the first team out currently if we look at the games that are coming up tonight we're looking at a couple of opponents that we could get some playoff points from you look at mosquitoes got a shot at getting a win freebird in waterloo you know you're going to get a win marquette we're not too sure what's going to happen with them and quincy notre dame salem you'd like to think can get you a win um east alton could sneak out of redbud sparta could get a win with a i'm sorry roxanna could get a win with sparta breeze central you'd like to hope gets one from heron so say columbia wins that gets us to those five wins that we need and then you get us up to those 37 playoff points that's a chance that you could get in because you never know sometimes 35 points get you in but sometimes you might need 42 to get you in yeah and if you look across the board you got a couple four and four teams this week you got salem and redbud and then you got us two that are fighting for that last win to try to get get their name in there to get that last playoff spot but no matter what i mean if it's almost a must must win if you lose your your season's over so you've got to come out ready tonight and show them that you're ready for the playoffs and we were looking earlier on the way down we were looking at the ihsa's website there's a couple teams that are sitting at that five and three mark that have some tough wins or tough games of them tonight so say they don't get that win that drops them to five and four and they were sitting at say 20 playoff or 29 playoff points was a was a common number that i was seeing today too so there's a lot that can be done tonight there's a lot that has to be done tonight but when it boils down to it we just got to get that w to get us into the playoffs so with all that being said let's talk tonight talk to coach horner a little bit he just said you know just gotta get in get the victory he's two and two um against the panthers here and columbia is two and two against the panthers so when it boils down to it two evenly evenly matched teams yeah and they're going to run the ball a lot um something like we saw last week their quarterbacks only thrown not even 50 passes this year and they they run the ball a crap ton i mean they got 106 attempts by their top guy and then down the line i mean you got two more guys that have over 50 attempts on the season so um it's going to be a tough tough night again for the up front and linebackers but i think we can do it again like we did last week and then our secondary will be able to come alive again and hopefully our defense will all be working as one tonight like i was saying earlier they give up a bunch of points there's more games than not that they're getting up 30 points plus and then they're not really scoring that much so i'd like to see our offense get out there tonight slinging around a little bit i know dom vaguely has been nursing an injured hand since that freebird game so be nice to see him rebound after that three for 15 performance no touchdown passes obviously in those two picks so it'd be nice to see him turn it around get some completions back there again but mcconaughey just like to see him do what he did last couple weeks yeah and we like we were talking uh about on the way up here um he's he needs to bust one of these kickoff return or punt returns i think you said we've scored on almost every other uh thing that you can possibly score on i mean we've had a safety we've had a interception for a touchdown we'd have a fumble for a touchdown and a rushing and passing one but we need a special teams touchdown this week so i think uh mcconaughey needs to bus one this week and hopefully uh he can get in the end zone and coach kendall make uh be really happy on that sideline and that's something we've talked to coach kendall you know before the games and we joke with them you're gonna get one this week he goes i'm trying i'm working on it i'm trying well you know what you're about out of time to keep trying you're just gonna have to get in there coach kendall so no pressure on you but you're gonna have to get in there we're about 10 minutes away here from kickoff they're the panthers marching bands now making their way out onto the field you look across the way not too many people on that columbia sideline here tonight but hopefully the players are able to get going and get out and get that victory that we're going to need oh so importantly here tonight jared what are your three keys tonight i know you talked to coach germain throughout this week what do you think the three keys are to getting out here with a victory i think we just do the same thing we did last week uh all starts off up front with our d-line and our linebackers if they can stop the run a little bit and force them to throw the ball a little bit force them in those third longs i think that's going to be huge for the defense and then horner coach horner can get that offense rolling um another key i would say is getting vaguely the ball in his hands getting him running the ball a little more i think if we can get him out in open space and a lot of good things can happen and then my third key would probably just be uh look to your seniors because your s this could possibly be their last game of their career um seniors got to go out and act like it's their last game they're playing so um long bus ride up here uh i'm hoping for a for a good one tonight and you know that's something we've said a lot this year is you know we need that guy to be the it factor to be that guy and we haven't had anybody step up so i'd like to see somebody step up when we need that play you know last week you look hey we need to play we need to stop we need something to happen to change the momentum we couldn't get that so i'd like to see somebody tonight step up and do it early get this this two and six panthers team get them on their heels and then we can just take over and have control of the game from start to finish yeah and if you get up early i mean like we said earlier they don't pass the ball very much and it's hard for a running a run based team to come back from two three scores um deficit so um if coach horner can can get some points up on the board early and maybe we can get this clock rolling and we can get out of here maybe get a running clock and uh look for our playoff picture uh next week so the playoff picture that's going to be a whole nother mess of everything that we're going to have to look at 256 teams will make the playoffs you don't want to be that 257.

so the playering show will be tomorrow night teams are going to be revealed you can watch it online at ihsa.org you have to have the nhs website i believe as well or subscription to be able to watch all that so we're not going to jump ahead of ourselves and get into that too much we're going to we're going to let this game play out because after all this is why you play the game you know something goofy can happen uh you never know what's going to happen here this late into the season so prediction wise prediction time what are you going to go with we were talking on the way up here oh man well i'm thinking the eagles are going to score some points unlike last week i think we're going to come out and i think coach horner is going to show jerseyville a lot of things that they haven't seen even on film this year i think he's going to use a lot of different formations and he's going to i think he's going to run the ball a lot with vaguely mcconaughey and i think as long as we can do that i think we'll win about a 20 20 i'll give it 28 six 20 six i'm gonna put up a little bit more points i'll give you those six points and i'll give you that one touchdown because i can't predict a shutout here i just can't get myself to do it i think we do get that running clock though i'm hoping we get that running clock um very rarely do you see coach horner get shut out and well very early do you see him get him shut out period yeah but very rarely do you see him get shut down let's say and then that next week he's going to let you know that hey for a pretty tough offense here that i'm in control of and you know columbia's been known everybody likes those points and like seeing those points defensively we don't give up a bunch but offensively he's going to put those up week in and week out yeah and he's got the playbook to do it i mean me and you both know uh he's he's got a lot up his sleeve and he's got a lot of knowledge of the game and um he can he can go anyway i mean he can he puts his players in the best position to win and i mean that's all you can ask for as your head coach well let us know where you're listening from tonight like i said we're up here in jerseyville and doesn't look like too many people made the uh made the the travel up here so let us know where you're listening from we've we've gone international now we've decided that last week so shoot us a text shoot us a message comment on the stream and let us know what you think of the stream we're working we have wi-fi up here too that was another nice little surprise not really sure what we're gonna get whenever we travel to these places jared any final thoughts going into this game if you're in that locker room right now you know you're four and four you got to get the win to get in now whenever you played up here were you guys win to get in or were you coming in at five and three we were five and three so uh still we were trying to get that win to go six and three and maybe have a playoff home game uh first round but um we came up here and we kind of got our butts beat i'm not gonna lie to you columbia's coming off that last win or the last time we played was back in 2019 where the eagles won 41-7 so hopefully we're able to do the same thing tonight my senior year we went into uh week nine as well we were that five and three we had to go to nashville though so we were the same way you're in that locker room the thought growing through your mind is all right we gotta win get yourself a good spot and good seed and we were able to get away with the victory you go six and three and you never know when you're five and four you might play that number one team who is 9-0 and just dominant but you might get the way that the uh the pairings were looking right now you might run into an 8-1 or even a 7-2 team it's probably going to be an 8-1 but it just depends and you never know who you're going to get and that team i mean could be like a breeze central team like we talked about on the way up here and um i mean last week you saw like we played so close with them and we had the ball inside the the five yard line for i would say 10 to 12 straight plays not straight plays but but plays and i think uh any team like that if your defense can keep you in the game um i trust coach horner to put some put some points on the board and maybe escape with a win but um no matter what um we're worried about tonight and getting this win um in jerseyville and you know i look at last week as a game of missed opportunities um we just we had a couple shots of getting a turnover we just couldn't capitalize we were within striking distance a couple times of getting a pick of getting a fumble i think there was a couple foamer recoveries that they recovered so it's a game of missed opportunities last week obviously yeah you got to put that behind you but say we do go in and we draw central you don't go into that game thinking oh shoot we were just shut out by him a couple weeks ago you know five and four you go in you're playing an eight and one central team anything can happen and yeah who's been your rival for how many years and coach horner has played against bree central so many times so um yeah i mean if that happens that that'll be a that'll be a crazy crazy atmosphere that could be a fun one well you hear the drumline coming in they're going to be leading the panthers out onto the field got a pretty good setup here in jerseyville we got the concession stand down to her right they got entrances behind us the team's going to be coming in behind us to the right of your screen there nope they psyched us out they're gonna be coming through it looks like the middle here right under us yeah this is always neat i know uh my cousin he coaches up in sterling and their fans are right on top and they come out in the middle of the uh the concourse and it's a pretty sweet atmosphere when they come out at the middle of the field one thing i really like is jersey those colors though that baby blue is probably my favorite color and man those jerseys are clean we've got it all signed up we're five minutes away from kickoff we're gonna send it into our final break and we will be back with the national anthem and kickoff on the week nine matchup here in jerseyville [Music] okay [Music] so [Music] [Applause] that's a tradition that was just the seniors neat little tradition they said right there the band on scene tonight only the seniors get to play they had them all lined up out there but only seniors get into place so gonna be a fun night here in jerseyville where the four and four eagles take on the two and six panthers and it doesn't matter what happened in week one two three four five six seven eight it's all about week nine got to get a get away with the victory here and see where that's going to put us into the playoffs hopefully the eagles are able to light up that manny mcguire scoreboard didn't get to say it all last week so hopefully eagles are able to put a little bit up on that scoreboard it looks like the eagles will be kicking off once again we missed the kickoff we're pretty good at that we're going to need a spotter just for that jerseyville got all their fans out tonight [Music] so vaguely once again we'll be setting setting the tone for us here going to be kicking it deeply [Music] blake carey and chase withrow are going to be deep for the panthers we told the pa answer how to say vaguely told them how to say vaguely calls it vulgar so that'll do it for the as well pregame show we got football now from jerseyville it's going to be a fumbled kickoff the eagles are going to have good returns down there and ran right past the guy with the football and it's going to be a tackle by none other than the kicker dominic begley making the tackle and it was a great job by saigon getting down the field however he ran right on past the guy who had the football you look coming out number 22 aidan tally's got 106 attempts on the year with a 644 yards going all along with seven touchdowns so coming out early probably gonna run the ball a little bit see if our defense uh can adapt to uh this run game panthers have a little bit of size there on the offensive line so we'll see how the eagles gonna have five men up at the line of scrimmage two linebackers sam denny comes up to see the motion man and it's gonna go right up the middle nothing fancy and it's gonna be good for about a six yard gain and i think that's what we're going to see all night tonight yeah you're going to see a lot of motion you're going to see those uh sniffer backs like we use all the time and you might see those running backs in the backfield putting their uh their hand in the ground so that linebacker can't really see where they're at didn't get to say sam denny's name much last week i think he only had about four or five tackles nothing special but he's in there making that first tackle tonight now we're gonna have doubles on the left side gonna be a dive right up the middle with number nine it's gonna be good for three yards and that's a quick dive there with that full back [Music] nine only has 15 carries on the air for 43 yards that must be his play right there just get those 15 carries for 43 yards he's just he's just getting running two three yards get the first down on my phone quarterback under center again there's be a motion man it looks like that motion man it's going to be a blitz right on the outside and that's what it's going to happen great job by dominic vaguely forcing it back to the inside and the rest of the eagles have to come up and make the tackle that's what they do by week nine you would hope they know the fours are back inside because uh coach germain's been saying it to him all all week but they're all here but great job there uh my vaguely just forced it back inside there and he knows his linebackers are flowing to the ball as we've said uh every week bring up a second and eight our two linebackers this week are going to be brandon jackson the sophomore and jay missler the senior talked a lot about him this year having a good year and those two guys got an important night ahead of him and his goal right up the middle once again with number nine he's gonna find a seam he's gonna get a first down and still keep moving he's gonna finally be brought down by dominic vaguely good for about a 25-yard run and a first down for the panthers four yard line for the panthers remember when we just said that he's just gonna have those two three yard carries on the best one for 20.

like to see what happened on that play just going right up the middle this is a big week for those defensive linemen they really got to follow their keys and their assignments same formation once again for the panthers 18's the motion man it's going to be a pass play this time they're going to look to the end zone and it's going to be nearly intercepted by denny goes right through his hands and there is a penalty flag on the play i would say it's in the vicinity of holding yard penalty so to bring up a first down and 20. that's down 21. 21. that's something you got to be uh ready for if you're a safety or corner tonight like the same as last week uh it's going to be run run run and then they can hit you with that pass over your head a good job yeah yeah so good job by denny on that last play counter you heard coach remain calling it out it is unreal how he before they even set the ball after that holding penalty he said watch for the counter and they call the counter it's going to be a one-yard gain great job there by the defense yeah we could hear him from over here unreal he called that out and unreal how you can hear his voice way over here actually going to be doubles to the left side still going to be under center two wing backs number 18 in motion again it's going to be a toss great job sniffing that out dominic vaguely good tackle good play all the way around and it's going to be a loss on the play he might have like five or six tackles already he might he's in the name he's in there a lot great job though whenever they send that motion man it looks like we're going to be sending blitzes to that side of the field it's worth noting that rick johns is the uh coach for the panthers i saw him a lot at westland i believe right i think so yeah gonna be another sweep to the outside they're gonna try to get to the outside it's gonna be sniffed out once again by the eagles none other than kyle mcconaughey now getting in on the action making that tackle flowing from that safety spot and on that play you had four or five white hats flying to the football on pursuit there and great job by mcconaughey making making good contact and wrapping up bringing them down long fourth down so good job there by the eagles giving up two big plays giving up two first downs and then putting their heels in the ground and not going any farther it's gonna be a punt from the 32-yard line mcconaughey back deep run into him and it's going to go out of bounds at the 13 no 18 yard line rather like you said right there jared don't run into them we've had four or five of those penalties had another one of them last week you think you learned by week nine but that's another play cost us a game i think last week and let that drive keep going yeah whenever you get up to that punter kicker you just got to be disciplined and know if if you can get the ball get it but if you think you're going to run into him just just hold off tight end right sniffer back right doubles to the right side going to be a handoff to mcconaughey to the right he's got a couple lead blockers out ahead of them good job blocking out there looks like saigon another great job stalk blocking and it's going to be good for about six yards he picks up about six tackle there by and i think it was actually meganson out there with a good stalk blocker i think that's what we're going to see a lot tonight spreading the field using those outside zones and getting mcconaughey and vaguely out there to maybe get those linebackers chasing them and then you can open that middle up a little more later in the game meganson came off looked like brandon jackson going in at the tight end spots we're gonna have double tight there's gonna be a lot of tight ends in there it's gonna be another handoff to mcconaughey who's gonna get enough for a first down spin away and gain another two yards and that's good for clone eagles first down i think we had everybody up on the line of scrimmage other than one and white out when you look over yeah brian jackson coming out now meganson back in so coach horner is going to be using a bunch of different formations to ride up right from the get-go to try to get a jerseyville on their heels pushing them back a little bit look at coach owner he doesn't even have the headset down he's just going to call the players as he sees it he's got vaguely going to the right side this time he's got vaguely who misses a tackle he's got vaguely down that right sideline he's going to have vaguely into the end zone for a columbia eagles touchdown quarterback vaguely on the right side looks like the head vaguely had about five yard gain and he was able to keep his feet moving and i like to see that running the football hard don't need to throw it if your hands hurting we'll just run it great job there by vaguely just to find an open seam on that right side and i think it was a run from the very beginning and he knew he was getting that ball and putting his head down so great job by vaguely to find an open seam on that columbia sideline and score six so if we do see ourselves into the postseason these are going to be big plays right here so hopefully we are able to capitalize on these right now good snap good hold kick is up and it sneaks into that right side of the upright so that takes the score on the mandy mcguire group scoreboard columbia seven jerseyville zero with six minutes and fifty seconds to go here in the week nine match up we're going gonna send it to a break and we will be back with the kickoff in jerseyville on offense right after this you my welcome back ladies and gentlemen into this week nine match-up where the eagles lead the panthers seven to nothing and like jared was just hanging that's a confidence booster there for dom vaguely in that eagle offense yeah coming off last week what was he three for 15.

um and he's probably already got four or five tackles here tonight so vaguely looking to put his team on his back tonight and get us in the playoffs good start for the eagles as vaguely going to send it deep once again and gets under this one and it will be fumbled once again at the 20 and it bounces around where the panthers are able to fall on it and in a play like that right there you look at that play there the eagles usually give up those big plays so it's nice to see the eagles getting away with the big play there 24 yard line on the offensive side of the football going back to that vaguely him being even a junior quarterback um he's got all these seniors that he's got to be go play quarterback for so he's got a lot of trust that in in don vagley so it's huge that uh he's coming out and go up the middle once again it looked like it was a counter on the play and it's going to be a gain of two about three yard line three yards you listen to some of the guys on the sideline the sidelines fired up tonight too for that that might be the first time we've been able to say that all year and you can hear some of the players over there y'all encounter two so you know all week you got what is it the uh scout team offense that all those guys play on the sideline over there against the starting defense so they know everything that jerseyville runs so it's whenever they see something that they see that's coming they're gonna call it out to their teammates [Applause] so jerseyville breaks the huddle and i guess they changed their mind on what they were gonna call looks like the quarterback came out shaken up on the play i'm sorry that was the running back of number nine that came off so it's going to be up the middle once again nope they're going to pull it it's going to be a toss to the outside it's going to be one missed tackled it's going to be a second missed tackle now meg and there's that big play we were talking about touchdown jerseyville scoring out columbia seven jersey six look like on that everybody kind of got sucked in on that inside run and they just flipped it out and he had one guy to beat out there with a stalk blocker and broke a tackle and the way he was jerseyville had about six guys i think out here just leading the way too it was a good play there by the panthers it's a high snap it's got brought down and the p-a-t just barely sneaks into the left side so that's going to take our score jerseyville seven columbia seven and just like we were saying it's good to take one of those uh big plays and put it on our offense we give it up on defense right away and like i said it looked like a couple linebackers there just got kind of stuck in that stuck in the middle there and don bailey was out here on the on the left side and missed the tackle had one more stock blockers and like you said they had four or five guys that down there still blocking for their guy to get in the end zone he had meganson and i think it was mcconaughey trying to catch up and they were getting blocked by the their other wide receivers so great great play there by uh jerseyville you got to bounce back on offense that's a tough play there too you know that quarterback he can have that ball stuck in the running back stomach all the way to the last second and you know it might be the right read on you until the last second when it's not the right raid so good pull there by the quarterback if that is an rpo i guess it's not an rpo yeah yeah it could be an rpo it could be a run pitch option instead of a run fast option this 52 degree night out here it's feeling every bit of it they do send it deep and it's going to go to mcconaughey let's get that special teams touchdown like we've been asking for all year he's going to make two men miss he's going to get to the outside and he's gonna go out of bounds at the 39 and i think he just decided hey i'm gonna dump out right here and uh avoid a big hit yeah like the one i took here three two years ago little guy's got to be shifty and know when to get in and out you gotta get as much as you can and go down that's what uh coach jermaine always told me as much as you can just fall down or go out of bounds i like this though the eagles rather than coming out not knowing what's going on on this first play eagles offensive line just comes out they know what they're running ahead one tight end here for the eagles going to be a pistol back in mcconaughey going to be a fake handoff it's going to be a pass he's looking for hicks not going to be open so now vega is going to have to make something happen he gets back to the line of scrimmage maybe a yard good coverage there by the panthers he's good on that uh on those rollouts where he can kind of hesitate a little bit and make that defender kind of second guess themselves and he's so good at just having great vision downfield and he's he's gotten better over the season has gone on because early in the season if he saw um anything downfield open he would just swing that thing and try to throw it and sometimes that would be an interception but he's kind of humbled himself a little bit throughout the season and he's being more safe with his uh with his eyes and his vision panthers are challenging the eagles they're on the football and we do and that's a great run by mcconaughey who keeps his feet moving and he's gonna get eight that's gonna bring up a third and two and we like to see that out of mcconaughey not only having the speed but also having a little bit of power right there third and about two most likely looking for another rpo action here maybe uh mistler coming out of this backfield doing a little arrow route and vagley's going to hit him for a first down oh we got him to jump off never mind there was five panthers on the line of scrimmage there i think four of them jumped so that's going to be a good for another columbia eagles first down so now what's your prediction as you got jackson coming off the field and meganson coming back on now you just run the ball i think uh go back to um what you were doing on first down on that first drive you were just running the ball with uh mcconaughey and vaguely see where that can get you 440 remaining in the first quarter it is going to be another run play with mcconaughey he's going to go up the middle this time and he's going to be good for close to another first down as it takes about four or five panthers to get him down it's good for a nine-yard game these past two or three weeks it looks like he's been getting more upfield and not trying to bounce it out as much which is a great thing to see early in the year mcconaughey every time he would get any space outside you know he was going to bounce it out and try to take it to the house but sometimes that could end up in negative yardage um but great job mcconaughey of using it putting his foot in the ground and getting up field gonna be another run play to the left side and it's gonna be good for columbia eagles first down i mean watch that play right there mistler actually came out wide early i thought he moved a little early i wasn't going to mention it but he actually came out wide so you that's a little bit of action that those linebackers are seeing and mechanically just goes right up the middle so that might also set something up for the future so it's going to be another first down and 10 for the eagles from the 35-yard line 3 30 in the first quarter of the 7-7 game trips to the right side he's going to throw it out to saigon and he's got the completion and it's gonna be good for seven and if you heard on that play as soon as he caught the ball you could hear coach horner yelling right now and as we've talked about vaguely too as a quarterback you got one second to get that ball out and he did a great job on that one especially on those arrow routes i mean it's only a one to two second little route for your wide receiver to get out of he's gonna snap his head all the way around and vaguely he's got to get that ball and sling it over to that sideline and that's what we did right there to saigon jackson goes off meginson comes on i'd like to see him take a shot here if we can second and three not a little hurricane over here gonna fake the handoff and it's gonna be a hurricane right or a miami rather two jerseyville players run into each other and it's gonna be good for 10 yards and another columbia eagles first down and now into the panther red zone pretty big contact there out of the panthers yeah that was a d-lineman running into one of these outside linebackers and oh my gosh barely slipped himself away from that one and said yep i'll take this first down first and ten from the 19 for the eagles coach warner changing the play at the line of scrimmage here mcconaughey or pistol back jerseyville's still putting everybody up the middle mechanic he keeps his feet moving goes right back up the middle again and it's going to be good for another six and another good run like you said jared not busting to the outside going up seeing the football field it's going to be a time out on the field jerseyville so with right at two minutes to go in the first quarter eagles are driving here with the tide ball game on the manny maguire group scoreboard seven to seven we will be back to see if the eagles can get into the end zone right after this tonight's stars include [Music] welcome back ladies and gentlemen to the seven seven ball game in the week nine match up where the eagles need to win to get in to the playoffs to be second and four from the 13.

it's going to be another play action pass vagley's looking deep into the end zone he's going to check down he's going to get it to mechanic who's going to spin into the end zone for another columbia eagles touchdown it takes to score columbia 13 jerseyville 7 and a great play there coming out of that timeout that's a big play there whenever you're coming out of that timeout if you lose yards losers on those kind of plays that's one way to send coach horner someone jumps off sides or oh man vaguely and saigon on for the p-a-t good snap good hold and it's blocked how many pats have we had blocked this year yeah i'd say about six or seven so that's going to keep the score columbia 13. jerseyville 7 with 151 here in the first quarter [Music] and if you're coach kendall you got to look at that every week and go all right where's my where's my weak spot gonna be got to get that figured out here and before it's too late yeah especially come play all the time i mean all those every single point matters in those playoffs game because i mean some teams hold the ball time possession can be a big thing how long the teams can hold the ball and especially if you're playing a team like this who's a run run first offense um they could have the ball for almost a whole quarter like we saw in uh what game was that in this year whenever they had the ball in the second half for literally almost ruxin roxanna yeah they had the ball for literally almost the whole second half and we barely probably ran four or five plays so that's also very important salem did that to us too and uh a couple weeks ago i think we had the ball the first four minutes in the first quarter and then they kept it for the next eight and scored on the first play in the second quarter so like you said there's some teams and especially now whenever you run into these running teams it's very easy to happen so vaguely going to send it deep last time he got underneath of it and didn't have the greatest kick but luckily both kicks have been fumbled this time he gets off a booming kick and it's going to be picked up at the one they try to make a way out of the end zone and they're going to and it's going to be a great job by jay missler making an open field tackle good job breaking down and uh making that tackle it was close the official said it wasn't so i guess it wasn't so the panthers are going to take over once again from their 18-yard line got to search a little bit on this natural surface field for those those yard marks jerseyville under center once again i'll start looks like a couple of our guys are pointing it's a great job here whenever this happens everybody's just pointing at each other and it looks like it will be false start on the panthers call against the panthers moves the ball back five yards so it's a loss of five first and 15 from the 14 13 number 18 if he's faking motion he's in motion he's probably worn out by the end of the night usually on that type of offense you on on the defensive side you're assigned to that guy it's gonna be looked to be an option quarterback's gonna tuck it go back up the middle he's gonna get that five that they lost and it's gonna be a tackle on the play by number 63 grant matheny the senior i like seeing grant out there he's the leader on as the center on the offensive side of the football and he gets his face mask in there a lot of times too on the defensive side of the football and he's not afraid to uh let his emotion get out there and make some big plays and up front you got it looks like kenny stein antones yeah you got some big boys up there so up front these last two three weeks up front on the defensive side of the ball we've been playing really well motion man goes to the running back position and he's gonna get two through maybe three and it's like you said vaguely and hixson on the tackle good job by those guys not falling for anything and just making the tackle third and seven likely to be the last play as the eagles i'm sorry the panthers are now under 40 seconds we're at 30 seconds on the play clock don't let up a big play here to end the court it's going to be a pass play it's going to be a quick hitch route to number 10 it's going to be caught spins away and it's going to be close to a first down and i believe they're going to get it a little bit too big of a cushion there by wetzel and it's going to be good for a panthers first down that was just i think man-to-man on this side and he was probably standing already at the sticks where he needed to go i don't know if coach germain or one of the coaches over there told him to scoop back a little bit but usually on those you want to be up a little tighter and force everything right in front of you and don't let them pass you first and ten it's going to be a quick now route to the outside i have to try to make a play good meg and it's a great job by meganson making that tackle and that's going to take us to the end of the first quarter even clunk on the catch eagles are doing what they need to do to get this victory here tonight to send us into the playoffs potentially as they leave the mandy maguire group scoreboard 13-7 here in jerseyville [Music] hello with one quarter in the books the eagles lead this one 13-7 on a second down and two gonna be a quick handoff to the fullback right up the middle he's gonna get close to the sticks it looks like the side judge is gonna give it to him and he's gonna get it by about a half a yard and it's gonna be first down for the panthers well first and ten at the 42 yard line so it's going to be a first and ten from the 42 for the panthers eagles defense gave up a couple big plays but is it able to get their heels sunk in as well five guys at the line of scrimmage it's gonna be a counter coming at us and there's nobody over on this side it's gonna have to be denny to make the tackle and he does bruno on the left side there's nobody on this side of the football field look like owen brewer was this uh this side down down lineman and see on those on those reverses if you see your guard pulling one way you think that ball's going the other way because i think these left guards pull the opposite way of where that uh counter is coming back towards so if you see your guard pulling i mean you're following him thinking that running back in the in the backfield is getting the ball but it's really that uh counter coming back uh your way panthers get up to the line of scrimmage once again five eagles up close to the line of scrimmage it's gonna be number nine trying to get lost behind the big number 78 there it's gonna be a gain of three bring up a second and seven pick up three second down seven eagles having seven guys in the line of scrimmage and even your linebackers they're playing up pretty close to the box too so you can almost say that we've got nine guys in the box gonna be an rpo and look like the quarterback was trying to pull it kingstein kenny those are two big guys you're trying to run through and all they did there was just they probably just had a slant call in and caved right in they said hey there's the guy with the football it works out so it's a gain of a half a yard brings up the third down and we'll call it seven again this is what you want right here as a defense you want to force them to pass the ball here and don't get any uh slip slip on the quarterback and jared got what he wanted i think he would have had that first down if he didn't slip up there there was another option coming right at us and he was just going to keep it himself and get in for that first down but instead it's going to be a fourth and two this might be that dive play right up the middle here yeah they might go for it here this can be uh this could be a game changer here because with 9 45 here up a touchdown you have the ball and you get the ball at half this is a big play here for defense eagles fans that are here making some noise and it's going to be close to a first down i think he's going to get about four yards there and that's going to be good for a panthers first down not a bad defensive play there for the eagles it was just a quick play that the panthers were able to get enough yards maybe with a good hit there too he didn't let him break away gain extra what extra yards daily was the only one to bring him down going to be a power backfield once again to be pulled by the quarterback and he's going to have an option and it's going to be nearly stripped by mcconaughey it's going to be good for 12 yards and another panther first down and that's that first play that we talked about that beat us early in the game that's what they scored on earlier i don't even know how that happens on that that outside linebacker probably gets caved in and then you all you have on that outside is that corner to take care of so maybe we'll see uh coach truman make some adjustments on that uh on that next play so it's gonna be another first down and ten ball to 25 eagle territory sending motion man to number 11 it's going to be a pass play they're looking deep good pursuit there by the eagles defense but the quarterback's going to scramble he's going to get to the 10 and it's another good tackle there by meganson and that's it's gonna be good for another first down for the panthers good open field tackle there by drew pretty good drive here by jerseyville they are putting a good drive together these run plays are almost all the way around the field they have a quarterback going up the middle they have uh the option play going all the way to the outside and then they got that number nine running right up the middle so you never know which way they're coming gonna be the counter play coming right at us again it's gonna be good job there by brewer fighting the pulling lineman he's gonna be in there making the tackle i think they've had about four or five first downs here on this drive and it's a good job by brewer though fighting that whole play and getting out of his block and making the tackle that was the first time we've seen on that counter play us make a stop under i'd say seven eight yards only gained two three yards there so great job by brewer to stay home and know what was coming back his way just under eight minutes to go here before the century 21 halftime show gonna send another motion man they're gonna go up the middle quarterback's gonna keep it he's got a pitch man with him but it's going to be a first down for the panthers at about the one he tried to stretch there for the line of scrimmage for the goal line that's the goal at the one it was a close one the ground can't cause a fumble but it was close yeah it was close so the panthers have one yard ahead of them and the end zone it's just going to be a quarterback sneak he's going to try to get in no signal yet and now they're going to give him the touchdown this side judge over here gives it to him [Music] that takes us 13-13 and this is where those p-18s come in huge good snap good hold kick is up nearly blocked but it gets in and it is good so that takes the mandy maguire group scoreboard jerseyville panthers 14 your columbia eagles 13 with 707 remaining here in the second quarter the school year is well underway and after 18 months chs fine arts productions are back join us sunday november 14th for a live live encore broadcast of chs's fall musical beauty and the beast presented exclusively by destination pools make sure to subscribe to kchs now and click that reminder bell so you know exactly when we go live [Applause] it's one good thing about kchs we're not just football we're not just basketball we're gonna have some musicals some choir concerts some plays i believe we're gonna try to get a little bit of everything in here for you so if anybody is interested in becoming a sponsor of any of these events contact coach horner and he or mr nickerson and they will let you know how to become a sponsor and hopefully we're able to do that in the future as well jerseyville sends it deep it's going to be caught by missler he's going to try to get up the middle to get behind some of his blockers he's going to try to get to the outside good block there by wetzel he's going to get to the 40 he's going to get to the 50 and he's going to get into jerseyville territory and give the eagles offense good field starting position out near the 50-yard line try to get back on top of this game going back to that last drive they had fourth and two right right here on this 40-yard line and now you look up at the scoreboard and you're down one so um that that could be uh that play could have been a game-changing play there you get the ball back go down the field put some more points up on the board but let up a couple of first downs and a big touchdown for them to take the lead eagles gonna have doubles on the left side gonna be a stretch play to the left side it's gonna be kept by vaguely instead he's gonna gain four looked like it was an option there by vaguely he had the ball in mcconaughey's stomach he was running a little bit of a jet sweep to that left side and instead he pulls it mario's madison takes it up for four yards see if coach horner goes to a couple different formations here like he did it on that first drive kind of had jerseyville not knowing what to do trips left this time for the eagles with the running back left ball in the middle of the field going to be a roll out to the left it's going to be caught and falling down is meganson only going to be a gain of a yard on the play that's complete you know they always say that you want to come back to the football they don't come back that much buddy gayden's a yard forward progress it's gonna be a third and five now for the eagles they're just gonna flip it we're gonna have the ball in the left hash trips to the right side they're coming out wide i'm expecting a run play on the play it's going to be a quick speed missile great catch by missile in the fall ball's going to be fumbled and bounces right back up to him again though oh my god he's going to have the left sideline he's going to get forced out of bound at the 20 but there's going to be a penalty flag back here at the 35-yard line and it's probably going to be a little bit of too much contact i bet before the play might be one of those pick plays side judge in the white hat trying to figure out what's going on still trying to figure out what the call is going to be looks like it's going to be on the eagles based on how everybody is walking back [Music] so it will be against the eagles it's going to be a loss of a down on the play philly against columbia emotion for a loss of down so that would make it fourth down it's a five-yard penalty it's a loss of down so it's going to be fourth and 10.

coach horner trying to get an explanation here coach warner looks like he got the explanation he needed and that's going to force the punt team out under the field that one kind of hurts play into a into a punt here one of those times that you get those bounces that you need with the fumble it goes right back into your chest of course so vaguely back to punt gonna be snapping from the 49-yard line good snap wonderful punt by vaguely that's going to have to check up for us and it's going to fall out of bounds or into the end zone rather than so that's going to give the panthers the football at the 20 yard line with 5 12 remaining here before the century 21 halftime show where they lead this one 14-13 eagles drastically need to stop here on this drive eagles are gonna have nine guys up in the box once again they're gonna go up the middle and it's gonna be good for about 12 or 13 yards it's gonna be another first down for the panthers and they're just able to get right up the field and get underneath our linebackers you know with five minutes left here you think jerseyville is going to waste as much clock as they can try to get punch another one in here right before halftime so if you're a columbia defense here you need a big stop or you need to get a big turnover first and ten for the panthers motion man's number eleven it's gonna be a quarterback pitch once again kept by the quarterback and it's gonna be pitched to the running back to number 11.

who's going to get another 10 and a half yards and it's going to be good for another panther first down enough for another first down after the 44 yard line first to 10 jersey under 4 30 now in the first half doubles this time for the panthers going to be a pass play to the outside tackle great job stepping up this time by vaguely [Music] that's almost like the play we run quarterback gets the ball just throw it out as quick as you can you got one uh wide wide receiver blocking the linebacker and you got one on one with the with the safety or the corner so ball's right at the 50-yard line second and five number 11's a motion man it's going to be a pitch to the outside he's going to spin away and he's going to spin right into an eagle tackle they could do a reverse off that too did you see that other guy back around yeah after that toss they had that other receiver out there and that he could toss it and reverse the field once again that's one of those plays if you're the jerseyville staff you're watching how the eagles defended that keep that in your back pocket for later in the game might come right here third in the foot for the panthers they're going to wrap the middle gonna go right up the middle and it's going to be sniffed out right away great job jay mistler making the stop when you need it too around the same spot they were on this last drive looks like their offense is going to stay out right around the 42 yard line or 48 yard line my bad gonna be a fourth down and one gotta get to the 46 for a first down it's going to be a quarterback sneak and they're going to get it i think the center looks like here you can see that coming whenever the quarterback he gets down a little bit lower and that back foot comes out from underneath of him but you know he's going to lunge forward we need troy molly to come meet him right right at the first down mark so it's going to be a first down and 10 250 remaining ball in the eagles 44 yard line eagles trailing this one 14-13 gonna send a motion man they're going to fake up the middle quarterback's gonna pull it again he's gonna gain four and that's it he still had that uh option man out there with him though that quarterback does a pretty good job of hiding that ball i know sometimes me and you can't really tell if he gives it up the middle the number nine or if he flipped it out to one of his running backs or if he's still got the ball in his hand so great job there to pick up four yards second and six gonna be a pass play this time they're gonna go right to the middle of the field where there's no eagle gonna be caught by number 18.

he spins away from one guy and he's gonna stay on his feet and get to the 10. another play where you roll the defense to sleep and you're going to throw it right over the top of them that's going to be good for about 30 yards and a first down panthers like we said there's only two minutes now left here in this uh in this first half so jerseyville gonna take as much time as they can here punch one in the end zone eagles going to try to keep the panthers out keep this a close ball game going to be right up the middle again with the quarterback and this time nothing going oh and brewer so that's enough we're gonna stop you right here and it's gonna be a loss of a yard good job by owen that's something we really haven't done tonight we haven't on first down they've been getting three four five yards and getting those second downs where they can get to third down and two third down and one so that's what we need right there on that first down a loss of yardage now it makes it a little tougher in this second and long got a winning ticket especially when you're closer to the end zone because you run out of space when you're closer to that goal line gonna be a second and eleven ten seconds on the play clock one minute on the game clock gonna fake the ball up the middle it's gonna be a pass they're going to call it a fumble that's a forward pass in my opinion but they're going to call it a fumble and it looks like it is going to be recovered by jersey evo third down recovered by jerseyville but you know what that's going to help the eagles as the ball or the clock should still be moving they have the clock stopped now it's going to be a timeout jerseyville i think in everybody's eyes it was a uh a forward pass but the officials never motioned for the incomplete pass so 51 seconds i believe jerseyville only has one timeout left now it's going to be a third and 13.

had this a lot last weekend let's hope that coach germain got this fixed what are you going to call here jared if you're the defensive coordinator well i think i'm just going to put a they're most likely going to run a little bootleg action i think they're going to run bootleg to their or to this side this sideline so i think you just go man-to-man across the board and you put you put your linemen obviously and then maybe have one or two linebackers blitzing but um just keep them in front of the sticks i mean you got two plays to let them get 13 12 yards and they're most likely going to run the ball so be ready for a bootleg here or be ready for that uh that reverse coming back the other way because they're definitely going for it if they they do not get this play here a big third and thirteen here for the eagles defense got man to man out here closest to us gonna send a motion man it's gonna be a pitch to the outside now we just gotta make a tackle great job forcing it back in and that's a great job making that tackle gonna be another loss of two with under 40 seconds now gonna be a fourth and fifteen gonna be a timeout on the field jerseyville going to burn their last one with 23 seconds so they're going to try to get in the end zone one more time you just chuck one up there yeah if you get a penalty great remember to subscribe to kchs you'll get all those reminders as to when we go live hopefully we're going live for one more coach's corner and one more football game here in week ten columbia's going to have to take care of business though get a victory here tonight to become eligible for the playoffs at that five and four and hope for a little help out of some other teams in the 4a bracket i wonder if there's any teams like back in the day that's went five and four in the playoffs and like made a run in the playoffs late we were kind of talking about east side with their national schedule yeah they could have very easily this year going six and three five and four and go in state and go in stated this i think they're successful by three or four touchdowns yeah they always petitioned up to be that 7a school but last couple of years they've had to stick at that 6a fourth and 15 for the panthers i want to pick six here little dramatics number 12 panthers quarterback going under center ocean man in 11.

it's gonna be a pass they're gonna look to the end zone they're gonna have a man open and it's going to be caught [Applause] [Music] touchdown pass 15-yard touchdown pass makes the score jersey 20 columbia 13. a little bit of a wheel route it looked like there it was caught for a touchdown takes the score jerseyville 20 columbia 13. jerseyville for the p.a.t good snap good hold kick is up it's a line drive and it's going to be no good no good score remains jersey 20 13. so that takes us that's going to keep us actually jerseyville 20 columbia 13 on the mandy maguire group scoreboard and that's a little bit of a dagger there that we kind of had last week going into halftime yeah and they had the ball with a good six seven minutes left in this in this quarter and they just took all that time off traveled all the way down the field and call their timeout on a good fourth and 14 13 play there i mean you can't ask for a better better draw of a play i mean had two guys running uh verticals right down the middle of the field then you had the inside receiver running that um wheel route that the safety couldn't really get to so great play call and you know once again columbia gets to that fourth and fifteen third and long fourth along we're getting what we want it's just a good play and good execution better execution there by the panthers but you never know there's been some short kickoffs tonight so we'll see if mcconaughey can bust one out we've seen mistler get to the 50 already and vaguely's got a strong enough arm we have all of our timeouts we can still make something happen here before halftime griffin to kick off even if we just want to get a couple points and try to go for a field goal i mean we still got all our timeouts like you said so send it deep going to be caught by mcconaughey at the 10.
