A special congratulations to Drake Carlson who was named the best individual welder. In addition, our construction students brought home first place at the 8th annual MDCP and BBC construction competition, competing against 19 teams from across the high desert. Our FFA students also represented us proudly at the Mojave River Valley Horseman's Association Horse Show. Way to go, Sunund Devils. We are also incredibly proud of Kyler James and Ivan Reyes Lopez, who were selected for a paid summer internship with General Atomics. Our culinary students had the opportunity to work with eighth graders from Vanguard Preparatory, guiding them through making pepperoni and cinnamon pizzas. It's always great to see collaborations between the Falcons and the Sunundevils. Another huge congratulations to seniors Marley Fick and Macy Gibson who took first place in the first annual MDCP digital design competition. And finally, we are proud to recognize Aaron Romero, Kaden Malter, and Joseé Lada Aranda, who were featured at the annual Young Artist Gallery, showcasing their talents in sculpture, photography, and videography.
>> And maybe you can give us an example of what type of scenario would qualify somebody for this. >> Yeah, thank you, Mr. Alexander. Absolutely. If a student were to fall into a chronic illness and they couldn't participate in school five days a week during our scheduled time, we could offer an alternative schedule for that student to participate in learning over the weekends, at night. of course all in um with the approval of that that student's parents. >> I have a question. So um on this one page here where you talk about the data review where you talk about the dollars involved. So, it says that if we had this last year or this year, excuse me, um we'd get an additional 83,000 and that there's about and that there's 86 students involved in that. How does the math work there? Because we take the 86 students and I mean, >> this is a great question.
Our students continue to amaze us with their creativity, teamwork, and dedication. From collaborating on projects, competing in statewide competitions, or mentoring younger students, they consistently demonstrate what it means to be true Sunundevils. Their achievements are not only a reflection of their hard work, but also of the support of teachers, staff, and community that help make our successes possible. Beyond competitions and events, it's the small everyday actions that show Sunville pride. Whether it's helping a friend, volunteering, or cheering on classmates at a game, our students continually lift each other and make up Apple Valley High School a place where everyone can grow and belong. These moments, big and small, remind us why our school spirit is truly special. Looking ahead, next month marks the final month of the school year. For the class of 2026, it's all starting to feel very real. With events like prom, senior sunset, grad night, decision day, senior awards, senior ditch day, and graduation right around the corner, there is so much to look forward to as we close this chapter.
>> That's about $7,000 a student. That's 600 grand right there. It's a great question, Mr. Carlson. So, ADM is determined as a like a partial um ADM. So, many of these students already generated some ADM. They were in school for the first semester, for example, and then they fell into this issue and they had to leave the district um and we weren't able to to collect that because after a student has been absent for 10 consecutive days, we're forced to withdraw them from our school system. >> Okay. All right. Thanks. >> Any other questions? Okay, moving on to J2. This is the in Mr. Bogart. This is the instruction. Oh, excuse me, Mr. Streer. This is the instructional model. President Mcronis, governing board members. There's two components to this item. The first one is the tabled item. The agenda item discussion approval of an instructional time model was tabled back on September 2nd of 2021.
As seniors, we are not just finishing a school year. We're closing a chapter that has shaped who we are. From our first days on campus to where we stand now, we have grown not only as students, but as leaders, teammates, and individuals. Apple Valley High School has given us more than just an education. It's given us experience, memories, and a sense of pride that will carry with us long after we're gone. And while we're all heading in different directions, one thing remains the same. We'll always be Sundevils. The lessons we've learned here, the relationships we've built, and the pride we'll share continue to guide us in whatever comes next. This school, this community, and these moments are something we will never forget. And as this year comes to an end, I have one exciting personal announcement to share. After graduation, I will be moving across the country to New York City to attend form university.
So the board needs to take action to remove this from the table so that you can then consider the taking action on it taking action on it tonight. So it is the recommendation of the administration the governing board remove the item from the table. >> Can I get a motion? >> I move the governing board remove item agenda discussion approval of instructional time model from the table. >> Second.
Thank you. I will be studying communications and social media marketing. I'm incredibly grateful for all the opportunities that this district has given me and I cannot wait to take everything I've learned here into the next four years of my life. Thank you all for your continued support of our students and programs. It's always a privilege to share everything happening at AVHS. Thank you for your time and remember, Sunundville pride is contagious. Great job. At this time, board members and the superintendent are welcome to thank student representatives for their presentations this evening. Renee Longshore. Yes, good evening. Um, I just want to start by pointing out that Effie was completely humble in not mentioning something about Mr. Sunundevil that I sort of remember. Would you like to share it? >> Sure, I would. >> So, congratulations to you and also in your adventure to the east coast that is very exciting.
>> Any discussion? All those in favor? I >> motion carries. >> So, Mr. Bogart, >> it comes to him next. >> Yeah. >> Thank you, President Micronis, governing board members, superintendent, and guests. I believe we have to vote in order to make this happen, but happy to answer any additional questions. >> Okay. Can I get a motion? I move the governing board approve the Morirana Unified School District instructional time model starting in the 2627 fiscal year. >> Can I get a second? >> Second.
Um, I want to touch base with Granite Hills High School, Jilly, um, The Little Shop of Horrors. I'm totally looking forward to it. Are you in it or are you going? Okay. You're like, "No, thank you." Yes, I'm very much looking forward to that. So, thank you for sharing that with us. Um, High Desert Premiere. Love the giggles. Some nights are just like that, right? And um I'm looking forward to seeing you guys painting faces again at our children's day. Um you guys did such a good job last year and I look forward to seeing your creativity again this year. Sandia Academy, uh well done all all our speakers of our our smaller schools. Um our little people, you guys, you know, show up like a boss. So uh well done with your confidence, well done with your presentation skills. Um, Sandia, I'm looking forward to coming by and checking out your wolves oasis.
>> Any discussion? All those in favor? >> I. >> Motion carries. J3. Mr. Bogart. >> Thank you, President Mccronis, governing board members, superintendent Struter and guests. This is a policy revision to policy DIE. Um, and it's an update based on a recommendation from the Arizona School Boards Association. As a reference, the thresholds that have changed in this policy do not have an impact on MUSD practice. We spend far much more than the threshold is at in this policy. >> Okay. Happy questions. >> Can I get a motion? >> I move the governing board approve revisions to policy DIE audits financial monitoring as presented. Second.
What a garden idea. What a wonderful idea. So, I look forward to seeing how you're doing there. And Rancho Verde Arts Attack. Very excited. Enjoyed it last year. Looking forward to coming back. It's near and dear to my heart. So, I can't wait to see all the wonderful things the kids are going to create on that day. So, thank you. someone >> uh Rick Raleigh. >> Sure. Thank you. Well, it's a good uh good presentation by everybody. Um I I gotta hand it to Effie, though. Um you covered everything from prom to FFA. And do you write your own presentations? You don't have any help from staff or there's no staff writing. they give you ideas because uh that that's pretty impressive to cover so many topics with such enthusiasm and um when you do graduate give me your business card for social media because you're going to do really well and uh to Granite Hills High as well.
>> Any discussion? All those in favor? >> I I >> motion carries. J4. Mr. Bogart. >> Thank you, President Micronis, governing board member, Superintendent Streer, and guests. Tonight, I'm bringing to you a proposed master service agreement with Solon Corporation LLC. As MUSD has done in the past, this will allow us to begin working with Solon to develop a measurement and verification agreement to service the system that would be built. The proposed Vista Academy project would bring a 24- foot tall superructure that will cover solar superructure that will soon cover a outdoor recreational space. That space will include a halfcourt basketball court as well as an artificial turf field. All of the capital improvement on this project will be paid with the remainder of school facilities division monies that must be spent at this site by July 1st of this school year. The power purchase agreement will be place will be in place for 20 years and offer savings for the district um while giving current and future students an additional resource that would not otherwise be possible.
Um good presentation everybody. So, it's good to see everybody here and I know we'll have we have a couple more meetings before graduation. So, we'll be seeing a lot of the high schoolers still u until at least May. So, good job. Thank you all. >> Anita Tucker. Um, I'm always amazed at how poised and uh professional all of you are at the microphone and I I just love it. Some of you are are very uh particular on how you want that microphone and you you can tell that you have a career in speaking ahead with that. Um, I too was able to see uh Mr. Sunundevil and I got to cheer for Effie, but all of the young men that participated had incredible talents. Um, was a little freaked out by the the cow, but other than that, uh, it was pretty amazing. Uh, and all the things, uh, that Apple Valley is doing.
The district procurement team has vetted the so Solon um excuse me Solon Corporation's cooperative contract and our legal team has reviewed the agreement as well. Be pleased to answer any questions you may have. >> Can I get a motion? I move the governing board authorize the administration to execute those certain contract documents between Solon Corporation and the district whereby the district agrees to contract with Solon to construct solar generating plants at Morirana Unified School District's Morirana Vista Academy on the terms and conditions specified in the attached draft power purchase agreement and subject to the administration's agreement with the final financial projections and technical specifications for the project. This authorization is for Thomas Bogart, chief financial officer, to execute the agreements and such other documents as may be necessary to complete the transaction. >> Can I get a second? >> Second.
Uh, we got to see some of your students receive scholarships or, yeah, scholarships yesterday was really great. So, and congratulations on forom. I'll get you the pizza places before you leave. Um, uh, Jill on, uh, at Granite. Um, I'm excited to see Little Shop of Horrors. I was able to be there for, uh, field day and see all the great things. I understand the students are making the puppet for Little Shop of Horrors, which is pretty impressive because usually teachers will just rent them. So, way to go for Granite. And again, I got to see Granite students get scholarships yesterday as well. So, way to go. Uh, I'm also looking forward to see High Desert Premier Academy make faces. Not make faces, paint faces, uh, and, uh, show our younger students just a little bit of fun and love. So, thank you for that. Uh, Sandia, you guys were great.
>> Any discussion? >> I have a question. So, in All right. So you're saying that over 20 years we're going to save 11 $11,500? >> Yes, Mr. Carlson. >> Okay. So in this table here in your second table where you have the down the $100,000 down payment, I'm not understanding the math because you say that the current utility bill over those 20 years is basically 2.3 million. And you're saying the utility bill after the solar is just under 800,000. So that seems to be about a $1.3 million savings. See right at the bottom there in the rows it says total. >> I'm seeing the row I'm not seeing $800,000 on that row. Oh the 730 793. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> So the 793 plus the 1.4 million is the 2.3. >> No. No. the the 2.295 minus the 793. >> Correct. >> 49. >> That's about Yeah, it's about 1.3 million $1.4 million.
I can't believe how poised your your little ones are um for doing that and for helping them as they uh spoke. Thank you. I think she's gone, >> but thank you. You did a great job and the kids were great. I'm like, "Oh my gosh, they got those words." Um Rancho Verde, you guys did great. Uh this young man was constantly uh cheering on his team as they were speaking. It's really awesome sight to see. I know that Rancho Ver Verde has amazing talents. I got to see them in their talent show earlier and I'm looking forward to seeing the arts. I actually really want to make a clay thing, but I'll I'll be excited to see that. So, thank you all so very much. Maria Akara, >> thank you so much. Um, this was a a really wonderful experience uh to listen to the students uh speak to us and share with us the the fun things that they are having at their schools.
So, how is that not the savings? I mean, if you're projecting the if you if you're projecting the electric bill to be 2.3 million without solar and with solar, the utility bill is projected to be 800,000. Thank you very much, Mr. Carlson. I appreciate the question. This is due to the solar structural capital investment that's going to be put on the building. And so that structure probably is costing about $800,000 would be the delta because this is just the energy that's put into the contract. >> So in in previous contracts and I and I know you weren't here, but it seems to me that the that the solar company foot the bill for the structures and and so we were able to reap the vast majority of the savings. >> Thank you, Mr. Carlson. There's two different types of agreements that are allowable in the state of Arizona.
I'm going to start with Rancho Verie because they started with us and Rancho Verie uh you have so much going on at your schools and I'm really impressed. I absolutely love the acknowledgement this young man gave to his pe to his peers. Um and every time they they finish speaking, I could hear him say good job. Um that is what we expect. Um and when they're not doing good, you remind them, you know, that you're you need to you need to be more polite or more respectful. And he he modeled that and I was really really impressed. um you have so much going on at your school and um Rancho Verdie is a neighborhood school and so um as much as you do at your school, I'm sure that your your families uh truly enjoy um the services that you are presenting to them and showing them how you're growing in school.
One is a lease purchase agreement which we've done in the last few with um Amoresco Corporation. This one's a power purchase agreement where they're putting the solar system on the thing and we're purchasing the agreement for the 20 years. At that point, they would either leave the the facility in place or take back the solar system that's a top of it. >> Right? So, Amaresco is not in the picture anymore. >> Amaresco is not the vendor that we were able to go with this on this project. We did approach them and ask for quotes and they were unable to pro provide that quote. I have had experience working with Solon in the past and they've worked with several other school districts in southern Arizona and I've called for references. >> Okay. >> All right. Okay. Thank you. >> Thank you. >> Any other questions? Okay.
