So, if you get an opportunity, please please come and join us. Um on the very last page, you'll see that June 5th is graduation. Um it will start at 7:00 p.m. And weather permitting, of course, it will be at Community Field. So, let's all just do the uh rain rain go away dance. So, it will be a beautiful um not hot evening, so we can enjoy our senior class and all the work that they've done over the course of not this just this year, but the the course of their career in school. Um and again, a celebration for all the staff members from preschool all the way up to our seniors for for getting them to where they are. Again, I always say for graduation, it's it's not a diploma of what you've done, it's a diploma to say that you are ready for that next chapter.
Emmett close to capping out. He sent a good attack. Bartolo with another unfortunate misdrop while he's trying to counter. Sending a solid combo. Emmett has been playing at the top of the board. He has been surviving though. Just barely though. It's a good game. >> it. >> Good game. A very solid effort coming through from Emmett. I I dare to say that might be That last round might have been one of his like best performances of the season that I've seen. I've commentated quite a few Tetris matches. And he put up quite a fight. But it is Bartolo who is going to punch another ticket to stay looking to win it all this time after being I believe taken out by Hunter last year in the semis. So we have three advancing, correct? Yep, three of the four players in the state finals are Cyber Tigers.
They are down by four. They need something. Pass it over. Brooklyn L with it. Brooklyn centering pass to number 12 Eliza M. Eliza M getting pressure. Back over to Brooklyn. Brooklyn's pass gets deflected by Sachs. Holl still has it though. Holl going behind Amoral. Centering pass to Eliza M. She's trying to work it in. This this Raiders defense is just overwhelming for the Panthers right now. Trying to figure it out, but Raiders take it away. >> This is Ferry. F passed it up. >> Look at this speed by Mley >> just coming through finding Luscal. Luscow right to Spalding. Spalding passing it. Oh, and Lynch just missing the net. >> But look at that chemistry, huh? And just generosity as well. like Spalding had a pretty good open shot and she decided to pass to her teammate. Lynch trying to do something in front gets taken.
Um Yeah, so I'm not sure if you can speak to this or not but how do you Do you folks have any kind of results since we're two years into three two years into the five years part of the program? Any kind of measurements so far? We do. We have data on the CLSD grant and what what has been accomplished. Um We do have results. This is CLSD 2 so we have results from CLSD 1. Yes. And then after the five years, do you folks will be intending on appropriating funds if this needs to be further I think the the grant is much more comprehensive than just the components of the science of reading. It talks about literacy coaching. It talks about the different interventions for what you were just discussing before, the different needs of different learners. So, it is comprehensive and the science of reading is one component of that.
So, I I just want to say that we did create those I did create those positions um and those positions are definitely needed for us to continue the work that we're doing um in the department and to maintain our momentum. Okay. Um and you have the funding to continue them without us giving you money for it. Um we will continue to look for funding should the legislature not fund the position. Yeah. Senator DeCoite. Thank you. Um being that this position was created in an emergency basis, um it sounds like you are now finding them uh to have responsibility over more permanent kinds of responsibilities. Um is that Um so, the the if I'm understanding your question correct, Senator, the two positions that were emergency that um Chair Dela Cruz referred to uh was the emergency in in Maui and the wildfires. Uh the positions that the our deputy sit in are um uh critical and vital to the department and to address the many needs that we have um to ensure that we're able to continue to move forward effectively.
A lot of times if we work on something on a Monday and then we don't get to it till the following Monday, a lot of those details have gone. So to that urgency that that students have to have to we we've got a show next week and we've got to do that and really be attentive to all those details as it's being taught. uh is it will be will be again it'll be life-changing for them. >> How have your numbers been? >> Uh we actually have more uh high school students enrolled. Uh the uh the orchestra numbers will be less only because the orchestra only calls for 25. So last year I think that orchestra called for 34. So that you know you swim, right? >> Correct. Yeah. So, um, but overall all that's been, uh, you know, I will, uh, Miss Ball and I, we we had a little communication problem, uh, last week.
You are ready to go out there and either go straight into the to a trade, into college, into a career in it's something that they now have the opportunity to do. And we're very excited for that. Um beginning of March, our seniors, you know, not our seniors, our juniors took the SAT. And so, I do have the results of that. I'm kind of going through it right now, kind of putting some things together and definitely look forward to coming uh at the next board meeting with some updated information on on how our our students did this this year with the SAT. Um overall, it's been a great first day back, first very long day back, but excited just to see our students and be back at it.
We have Hunter, seed one of the tournament. We have Jordan, seed three, and Bartolo, seed two. So we might be seeing it for a Cyber Tiger v Cyber Tiger finale. It could be. It would be incredible. That'd be great. Mhm. Do they livestream these at state? I believe they do. I'm sure that they they do this, they would die too. Mhm. All right. Thank you so much everyone who came out here today to see the Cyber Tigers in action. Our last three Tetrio matches of the Not regular season, that's over with. Of the season in general. So yeah, we will be back tomorrow for our last Overwatch playoff match against Plymouth County Community High School. Join us at 5:00 p.m. for some more exciting eSports competition. Very big pressure. That's another match with state with the state visit on the line. Okay, great. Mhm. This week is a very stressful week for the Cyber Tigers.
Gets the ball taken now. Holl trying to work it out. Holl running it as a breakout. This would be Brooklyn L. Quick dish. >> Oh, look at this. H. Hollson's number 13. Quickly dishes it off. He's now 25. Tried to get open, but fantastic defense from Hart. Hartnet and Dolly Hollson going back behind Marl again. That was Cali D. Pass it to Caroline W. >> Working a centering pass up to Aiel. dishing it. Working it around trying to find something and moral touched it but flew out of bounds. It is still going to be Hollist ball. Charlotte is working it out. I don't think Charlotte's didn't get a last name next to her. So, let me double check that. Maggie though working it. Easy save there for moral. >> See Hartet trying to break it out and find Sachs. >> Sachs dishes up to Williams over to Spalding.
Do some of our teachers have that understanding? Absolutely. And even those that do, like it was just shared, teachers are lifelong learners and it never hurts to hear information again and to continue learning. So, it's not a detriment to those who understand and can implement the science of reading, but it is a great benefit for those who haven't had Yeah. Well, I think it hurts when taxpayers are funding for programs to teach teachers to teach students how to read. So, I think that's where, at least as far as my perspective is is trying to hold in on the funding mechanism part of it. Where right now you guys are getting grants. Um, but this is a continual pattern that we see with Department of Education that when these position fundings run out, come over to the ledge. When these programs fundings run out, you come over to the ledge.
But no longer just with regards to Maui. Or is it just regards to Maui? >> Those two positions did support Maui uh when Maui had when during the um uh during the Maui wildfires. Okay, so I Is my They also supported um most currently in the uh Kona low on and the the damages extensive damages that we've had to to the department to the schools. Um they're also supporting in those efforts. Yeah, so being that this was a position that was created temporarily, w- who was prior to then responsible for these kinds of um actions, I guess. So, the um the deputy superintendent of operations uh oversees currently oversees the um the offices of uh information technology, office of facility and support services. Um But you already have people in position for that already, right? >> Assistant superintendents, yes. Yeah, so we're already paying somebody to manage and maintain.
We thought we had sent some stuff out to the musicians and we had a, they found out on Tuesday we were going to have our makeup rehearsal on Wednesday night and still 17 students made it to that rehearsal. That's how excited they are. And I think Dr. Hoover was pretty impressed even our first sounded great already for sure.
Is there any questions that I can answer for you guys? I have a question, but just a thank you for this. Yeah, so you know that. All this stuff has been going on. It's crazy to um to keep track of all this going on, obviously, you know, but yeah, that's very nice.
We got state qualifier tomorrow. We had state qualifiers today. State qualifiers on Wednesday with Smash. Wow. A lot of stuff going on. It's a lot. It's a lot. It's a great week. Mhm. Hopefully tomorrow we're just as successful. Exactly. We started off very We started this week off very strong with the Tetris team. But thank you so much for coming out. Thank you. >> See you.
Spalding >> gets it back. >> Charlotte D. Had to find that. That would have bugged me. >> Ref blows the whistle and says it's going to be a I think a penalty. Yep. This is going to be Norah M going to the box. The ref pulls out a yellow card. I >> think this might be Norah's second penalty, but don't quote me on that. >> 349 left to go in the second quarter. 5 to one right now. All right, Raiders working it. Olsen dishes it over. Spalding back to Lynch. >> Yeah, Molly over it around. Let's get it back to Luscow who goes behind the net. Pass out to Molly. Molly up to Williams. Williams over to Spalding. Spalding back Lynch to Luscow. Le looking for an option. Lobs it up just over Olsen. Williams couldn't quite bring it in, but Spalding picks it up.
So, again, um, I think just being able to be fiscally responsib- responsible and tightening up on that. Sure. Yeah, just to follow up. I agree that, you know, it doesn't hurt. Of course it doesn't hurt. But again, in the priority of things, you know, are we getting the money down to the classroom? Are we identifying those kids that really need the additional help and how is this funding can go directly to help them than trying to redo a whole program to make sure, cuz we're never going to catch everybody in one whole program. You got to identify the ones that need help and then go from there. So, again, I hope the department are really focusing in on how are we helping those that needs to be helped and not necessarily trying to trying to again do professional development for all when when it's not necessarily um, needed as far as our funding wise.
>> And and there is a what we've learned, Senator, is that um in the department there's a lot of there's extremely important work that needs to be done that also is cross office. And it's those it's through those cross cross office um uh um matters that need to be addressed is is one of the many areas that the deputy deputy superintendents manage and support. You know, though, with all due respect, no other department can create deputies the way you can. There's no way we we can't just keep adding deputies to the or to DHS or to corrections. I mean, this just you know, it's just not the same. And the law the law is that you can create temporary positions, not necessarily ongoing for how many years. You know, as I said, w- w- when um question though, I'm not sure whose testimony it was that says the board is not qualified to evaluate the CASes.
Any questions? >> Best wishes, good luck, break a leg, and all that good stuff. So, >> all right. Thank you. >> Next that moves us to action items and 6.01, consideration to adopt policy 3340, child abuse and and neglect. Mr. Cameron, good evening. >> Good evening, President Duckwarts. Dr. Tonight's action item 6.01. Uh, in accordance with Indiana School Board Association's quarterly comprehensive management system, the Office of Chief of Staff recommends the adoption of ISBA policy 3340, which replaces current policy 6462. >> Have a motion approval. >> Second. >> Have a motion and a second.
And if you guys have any questions ever, I mean, email me, call me, text me, let me know what I can do for you guys. Any chance I can get you guys into the building and and see some of these successes, that's that would be amazing. So, and I I want to I want to second what everyone has said that Chief Smith has been a phenomenal asset. I definitely appreciate appreciated him being at the high school, kind of walking into bathrooms and and being in the cafeteria. And sometimes for our high school students, sometimes their experiences and unfortunate situations outside of school and sometimes in school can result in those real consequences that Chief has been trying to talk to them. So, it's really good to have that connection to to help them kind of see that, you know what, a small mistake can lead to to big can be a very impactful for them.
Just about three minutes now left to go in this half. Raiders are up by four with the score of five to one. >> Oh, look at that. Williams with an absolute rocket. Top shelf. Good pass by Olsen. >> You know, I think maybe it was Williams who got the first goal of the game, too. That shot kind of just made me think about it. >> All right, so yeah, Raiders right now six to one. Starting to starting to run the show a little bit. Take this game away from the Panthers. ref putting the ball in the position. Ball is up and good play from Mley. Just kind of backhanding it where she can get it. And look at those those speedy legs. Just breaks away. Oh, Spalding gets it poked before she could shoot. Oh, look at that quick turnover positioning and Williams with an outstanding goal.
