Intercepted by Ferry. Ferry gets it now. Quick dish up and what a goal. Ferry finds Abrams. And that is all she wrote. >> That was a really nice goal by Abrams. >> And a and a great pass and defense by Ferry. So >> yeah, I mean that's the end of regulation folks. This was a try to say nicely bit of a slaughter. 16-2. This is your final. And you know, let's uh let's ask real quick. Let's ask our guy running DSCable TV Instagram today. what you thought of the game. You want you want to uh tell us what you thought real quick, Cam? Sure, why not? Uh thought it was a little chilly on the sidelines for one. Fingers were getting cold just holding the phone. So, did say if it was 45 and that it felt like 33. >> Okay. cuz I mean I would have liked to have some gloves like those girls did out there.
I mean, it's it's a little unfair to say that you folks are not as top-heavy compared to other states because we have a much smaller population. So, I don't know what you're comparing that to. So, that would be when we compare on similar metrics such as percent of budget. Or when we look at the percentage of um our ratio of administrators to students or we would find that we're have more efficient administratively or spending less administratively than peers. But but to the audit question, you also asked questions about the audit committee. Um so, the audit committee uh it had been consolidated with the boards' FIT committee, finance and infrastructure committee, and then recently separated as a stand-alone committee. Uh I think the committee is in the idea would be to bring the audits to that committee and I I think that um just brings more transparency to the process.

Not not kids. Okay, you said Mrs. Condit brings kids in. So, she does a 2-year-old with a camp, daycare type of deal. Preschool for 3 and 4-year-olds. Yeah, and that all that furniture would be put away. That would just be a dual purpose use of of that room. They wouldn't be using the furniture for that. Cuz she currently uses that that area right now, so we wanted to keep that in mind that she would still have the availability to use that room. But as far as promoting it, I mean, I would love to be the one that that goes out and that promotes that to promote our culinary kids, you know, I think there's there's something to be said when you know, when I arrived here, I think that we were kind of we didn't have a whole lot of people in our circle. We want to open that circle up.
But um I think they were running a lot faster than me keeping warm. >> Yeah. >> Uh I was mighty impressed with our number 19. >> Yeah, that would be um Elizabeth. >> Feel like that's a name. >> Williams name that uh I should learn because she was on the board a lot. >> Do you know that she's a freshman? >> Okay, that's very impressive. >> Yes. And then um I also thought both goalies played really well. The score doesn't necessarily tell all that, but yeah, Ameilia L played fantastic. You're right. Yeah. And that's all I got for today. All right. Well, hey everybody. [clears throat] Thank you so much for watching.
So, has the boards' audit committee ever found the same reportings that our state auditor has found, whether it be with the ACs in the classroom, driver's license, uh food to table, farm to table um reports that the state auditor has found? So, the um the committee the stand-alone committee was recently reestablished, the stand-alone audit committee of the board was recently reestablished and it met last month and it it reviewed the farm to to school and I believe Senator was referencing that she watched that that he that um meeting. So, this is a new committee? Um >> Or new members? Um it's newly established as a stand-alone committee with its own um charter. I have to see the change. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I just I just don't see how um Yeah. Go ahead, chair. No, I mean, it's it's interesting how it has to be a stand-alone before the audit audit division or audit committee or whatever it was embedded into the board then would follow follow these things.

We want to invite as many people as we can into our school. Not only the community members, but other schools, other people from other schools. I mean, we go all the time safety, right? We go to safety conferences and we're always traveling out to Wheeler, to Hobart, things like that. We can host that stuff. Our bus drivers, right? We did yellow card training. We did it over at the middle school, I think twice in the last 2 years. You know, this would be the ideal place to to hold those those type of meetings. Perfect. It's um Some of the schools over in the NLC Warsol has a restaurant inside their school. That serves these purposes. So, in 2 days a week they host their Chamber of Commerce meetings there. The mayor has meetings there. >> I I think it's an awesome idea. My concern is this and and that I'm bringing up this.
I mean, it's just again mind-boggling that we got to go through these different cut steps before we get true audits or true true um reports on what is actually going on in the department and the department should be knowing what that is. Do you have a question for the auditor? >> [clears throat] >> So, I understand your testimony and I understand that some of these were asking for large bites and that you want us to narrow it down >> [clears throat] >> um possibly or or moving it over to the internal office, which I will be do making some recommendations. So, in the light of the fact that the DOE didn't even know that they could create positions or the superintendent could create positions, but it was 1 year uh limited. So, do you think that an audit on uh the process of the superintendent in creating these positions could be audited?

That's great. You have something we're doing this, but we don't have a plan. Like we're going to do this, we're going to do that. My request is that someone puts a a together and says, "How are we going to use it?" I mean, there's great ideas. We're talking about all this, but what is our plan? Yeah. Lay something out. I I I'd like I think we all would like to see we're going to spend this money and we have all these great thoughts, but what is the plan? You know, we we talk about it, but here's what we're going to do and here's how we're going to promote it and and then we're going to reach out to these people and we're going to try to schedule this and and and by the way, who's in charge of it? You know, we've got it, but it's just there.
I think so. I think that perhaps there would also be a part of that maybe that we would also consider looking at or legislature could consider asking us to look at the Board of Education's oversight over that. I mean, the board's responsible for holding the superintendent accountable. Okay. So, an audit of the process by which the administrative and program positions are created. You could do that and that um also the Board of Education's role in that. Is that what you're saying? And then what about um looking at the um the review of the department's supervision and evaluations of area complex area superintendents. We we can do that for sure. Okay. So, if we know that >> a process that we can look at. Uh I think with the committee, my suggestion would be that uh because there's so many audits in the legislature that are being requested and then more specifically to the Department of Education, that there needs to be some process by which the committee or maybe the legislature more generally prioritizes the ones that they think are more important to them.

That's great. So, share with us Yeah. And and maybe the next step is, "Hey, here's what we're going to do and this is how we're going to do it." I I would I I would ask I think uh it'd be nice for us to all know. It's all right. Great. We can move forward this, but how are we going to utilize it? Share with us and and here is how we're going to go about making sure we have we're going to reach out to these people. We're going to schedule this. We're going to do these things and and uh it'd be just nice to know that I'm all about it, but I'm just I think I think we need to make sure that we also have a plan. Absolutely. You know, we talk about it. first. I think yeah, the plan come first. Plan should have come first.
Honestly, for me personally, I would suggest the CIP projects, looking at the CIP program that the department has and their process to oversee and manage that program, which is the concurrent resolution that's set for Wednesday. That to me sounds much more interesting than assessing the superintendent's authority to to uh to create temporary positions and the oversight of CASs. I got you, but but I I suppose though from the last few years, I recall there being issues with money's lapsing and uh I mean, we see schools that are not construction not moving forward. >> thought you're going to find that interesting to do. So. Anyway, thank you very much. >> Thank you. Any other questions, members? Okay. If not, we are moving on. Uh we are on Senate Concurrent Resolution 101, Senate Resolution 95, urging Department of Education, in coordination with the Board of Education, to develop a plan to transition the school buses used for public transportation to electric buses to extend the benefits already demonstrated in other places.

Yeah. We I we can absolutely do that. We can table it right now if that's the the vote and I'll come back with a plan. Yeah, cuz I mean like are you going to run through like building usage form? I mean, are they going to fill out stuff like that? I would like to see like Kurt said. Um you know, maybe we can come up with a way to to fund it with if you guys, you know, promote it and can actually fund this. Um I don't know how that works with the school, but um as far as recouping some of the money. You know, selling it. I mean, promoting it. So, I I think it's a great idea, too. I just I agree with prior table on it and So, I have a question. It's like, you know, we talked about this. What was the scheduling of of this?
Um, we have Department of uh Education. Good afternoon, Chair, uh Vice Chair, members of the committee. Jesse Souki, Deputy Superintendent of Operations. Uh, we provide comments on this resolution, um, but in summary, um, we support the intent of the bill um to reduce the carbon footprint of the state uh and the DOE, but we have some concerns about um the resolution as proposed. Um, the Department doesn't have a fleet of buses. It's through vendors. Um, the cost is uh very prohibitive as we talk about in our testimony. Um, the infrastructure for charging is not there at the moment, something that the Department doesn't control. And um the third point we wanted to make was that there used to be an EPA federal program that uh provided support for this kind of um transition, but um the current administration has stopped that program, so that opportunity is no longer there.

Is this something and we got a quote for this? Is this something that was going to happen over the summer time? Yeah. So, once we order it, I it's 2 months to to get the furniture in. So, that would bring us into the summer and then that the promotion that would come in the school year starts. So the recommendation is that you guys can put together put a band together team put together some ideas thoughts of what how it's going to be utilized when it is and then we can act obviously act on it sooner than later so we can if we can agree on we can still make it happen within that time frame but um maybe have a a better put the cart before the horse. Absolutely. I'll I'll do that and we can bring it back to you at the next board meeting.
