>> Second. Second by Pat, any discussion? All those in favor? 7-0. Next we have some recommendations. >> Yes, and lastly asking for approval for the following recommendations. Madison Swindall, Jennings County School Corp Floating Sub Cook. Samuel Pratt, Jennings County School Corp Bus Driver. And Evan Zahacky, Jennings County School Corp Pool Supervisor. >> So Jen Goldton has just incorporating the comments that she had received. So we expect the what they call the final version of it to be sent to us early next week and then I'll send that to share it with the board and the select board as well. And then at that point, we get a letter from um a memo from Michael Herbert just confirming the votes from the planning board and the select board. And we'll send that memo along with the draft housing production plan to EOHLC. WA is our contact there. It used to be Phil D. Martino, but he has stepped down from that role. So, we're going to send it to WA. Uh we're going to email it, but also send it certified mail as well. And then they'll confirm that they've received it. And then that would be once they review it and they determine it's complete as long as there's no edits, it would be retro back to the date that it was submitted.
For us, that's primarily food and labor. And uh labor uh wits in is keeping the operation going with slightly less staffing hours than were on the books for last year. So, that's a savings. Um the other one is food, which you'll see uh in a minute. And then um again, raising revenue, and for us, that's the number of meals we serve. So, we're always trying to increase our participation and get as many kids involved in the program as we can. Uh, Witson is a very large company all over New England. They have much better buying power than we had last year in our much smaller buying cooperative. So, there's an automatic savings in food cost also in addition to the labor. Um, we are now actually offering more options every day at both grade levels. I apologize. I'm having cataract surgery next month and my vision isn't the best right now.
Um so tonight I want to talk a little bit about and this is a common theme we've talked about a lot which is the collaboration between the association uh and all of our educational partners and especially the district. Um I do want to let you know that in our next learning and leading day which is in a couple weeks both here at the district and the second day at at the ASTA office we are going to have some staffers from state legislators coming to see what we do here with community schools. the vice president of CTA, Leslie Litman, will be here as long as well as a couple executive committee members for NEA. Uh just to see the model that we have here in Anaheim. Uh the demand for our learning and leading days is strong and we're happy to participate and continue uh with those.
All those in favor? I, Melinda Sabroski. I Fred Rushton. I Charlene Diaz. Hi, Barb Zarziki. I Sheila Bernett. Item 2.8, superintendence reports. Reports with two S's on the internet. Madame President and board members, you can see uh our collective reports there. Um uh I don't really have anything to add.
So that's outstanding. Um thanks to the board members who were able to attend the inaugural honor and inspire night where our top CHS seniors um honored a teacher who inspired them. It's an exceptional event and probably going to be one of my favorite nights to look forward to for years to come. Um, I was privileged to judge the Anna Wilson oracle contest along with Kent's co-orker Kenan Wilson who destroyed us on this football field when he was at Tri West and Jake Low um local pastor Claire Dennison was this year's winner of five contestants. Just think of high school kids to get up and give a speech. It's a great event and it's still paying homage to Anna Wilson. So, our CMS swim and dive teams both were county and conference champions did send out if you look at the Oracle um did provide so we're seeking parent feedback as we kind of do our strategic thing.
Um Marilyn, second by Marilyn, any discussion? All those in favor? 7-0. Now we Now we're down to finances and we have some donations. We have a lot of donations. >> We do. So, >> okay, >> as soon as we get it and submit it, we'll let you guys know. We are going to submit it to the state and the boards at the same time. So, if you notice there are discrepancies, let us know and we'll let the state know. But it was important for us to get that deadline rolling for the um the retro approval. So, >> all right, great. And is there any update on uh the 40VS? >> The 55 West Union is the only one still open. 10 to 60 Main Street um is still before Concom. Um 61 Waverly is actually approved through conservation and it's been approved through the ZBA. So they are ready to start ground work whenever they are ready. Um 55 West Union has been continued out until May. We we actually our peer review from Haley Ward who was reviewing the project for us is leaving Haley Ward.
U menu options. They are offering at breakfast and at lunch more options than we were able to offer them last year. >> Uh, Witson's has a lot of resources at their disposal. one of which is a professional chef that goes from account to account. He has been here once and will be here at the end of this month for a second uh special theme day where we roll out, you know, a very fancy dish that then becomes part of our menu um rotations. >> Is it quick enough working? Is your >> probably Yeah, I was trying to fix it. >> Yeah. Okay. Allar items. Um >> Go back a slide. >> Oh, you want Yeah. Well, allear items are anything other than the fine five main food groups. >> Yep. >> Um at breakfast or lunch. You can leave it here for just one second.
Um on that note, looks like I'll be heading up to Sacramento at the end of this month to testify at a state budget committee meeting on community schools. As you know, the governor is proposing an ongoing $1 billion a year for to continuing that work and CT is looking for me to go up there and testify on the behalf of what we do here. Um, in addition, I had a conversation with with Dr. freed and we are going to be making appointments with our local legislators, our state assembly and state senate to bring a coalition of labor and management together to talk about funding for public education and make sure that all the dollars that our students and our community deserve come here to us in Anaheim and and all across the state as well. Um, that's about it. Actually, I was looking at my notes and I was going through it.
I don't have any particular updates this evening, but I would answer any questions or at least try to answer any questions you might have about these reports. When I looked at it, it was pretty straightforward. We just had a sort of a run-of-the-mill month this Well, other than the good news about uh budget, which you're going to look at a little bit later, but yeah, that's always good news. Smile on my face. That's always good news.
So, um, this went out 2:00 today, 3:00 today, and I took a peek and we already have people responding. So, that is outstanding. And I'm Rex Reker. I'm proud to be an Athenian. >> Thank you, Dr. Riker. There's no other business that I'm aware of. Board member communications. >> I just want to um really thank the organizers for the honor and inspire night and uh it was wonderful to be attended. It was very it was I didn't know what to expect and didn't know exactly what it was, but it was in it was incredibly moving. It was great for our teachers to be honored that way and great for the honor students. And I'm with Dr. Riker. I think that is something that will build and and and be something to really look forward to every year. >> I think it was special for the parents to hear their children honoring someone special to them, too.

>> There's going to be a bit of transition. So luckily the applicant agreed to an extension to give the engineers some time to replace Bethany to continue finalize the review for them. So, it's just been a little little bit of a waiting period there, >> but a little breather for the ZBA maybe >> kind of. It's been nice to meet it. >> All right. Thank you for that. All right. Um, and anything new that we should be any new applicant any new applications that have been submitted? >> Nothing's been submitted. No. >> Okay. All right. Although the Ballad Roads, just you know off topic, but the Ballad Road subdivision is moving along there before conservation. They should be done probably within the next two or three meetings there. >> That was the one with the older lots, the older smaller lots. >> So probably by this summer, you'll probably see some movement over there.
Yeah. Um we are selling those now and we have not done that in the past since co um so we were slow coming out of co there was an oversight transition in leadership for the food service that was previously being overseen by eastcon kind of disintegrated I started a year and a half ago with them um so that's an additional source of revenue But I want to reassure everyone, HSC is healthy food certified. We go in Bolton above and beyond USDA's nutritional standards for anything outside of a vegetable or a fruit or a grain. Um, and so our nutrition standards for those extra items, if you will, or snack items meet those additional higher Connecticut standards. It's still not So, I'm not sure if I need to do something different. So, we're going to be talking about different kinds of numbers. Reimbursements is the amount that um primarily the federal government, but also there's some state reimbursement to help um assist us in putting out these meals.
I'm sorry about that. I thought I had more to say, but I'm going to go ahead and and leave it right there. So, appreciate everyone being here and thank you very much. And uh I know we're all on the countdown to summer, so it's getting exciting. All right. Thank you. >> Thank you. >> We have Lacy Munger, APGA. Good evening, President Guerrero, members of the board, Superintendent Freed, Executive Cabinet, and community. Um, I think I say this every year around this time, but it's hard to believe now that we just have six weeks left in our school year. Um, you know, it's this is when our work for counselors, everything that we've done all year long starts to show up in the real outcomes of our students. from the college decisions such as what we heard earlier with Miss Garcia to the academic progress of our other students and our daily tier one support that we continue to give all of our students um grades 7 through 12.
Okay, any questions for Dr. Stewart? Oh, okay. Moving on then. Um, board member item 2.9, board member updates. Um, I guess three of us are going to Phoenix to the AD and um going to get educated, try to uh anything else. Uh, I'm going to be at Diamondback on the 13th. I'll entertain a motion to approve. So moved. Motion by Marilyn, do I have a second? Second.
>> Okay, great. >> And if anybody's wondering what's going across from the senior center, that's just a single family house. We've had a few calls. What's going on across the street from the community center? Somebody's just putting up a single family house there. >> Oh, community center. >> Yeah, they took down a lot of trees there. >> Yeah, we've got a few calls. So, >> I guess I haven't been by the way.
