it's not doesn't go on for 40 pages. Um, on the other hand, there's enough informality like for example, when you see the board and its consultant on page two, GCG, GCG stands for something. It's not just like a threeletter word. So, I kind of wonder if we should when we clean this up and just kind of the first time we mention a shorthand, give the formal reference and then >> I think yeah, you know what I mean? >> I think that makes sense. Little little things like that that I just noticed where people don't the public won't know what GC >> that that actually is their name is GCG Consultants is that is their actual name. That is their full that is the company name the initials of the people that own it. >> Gotcha. >> Just like um >> do we have consult engineering?
On this slide, Carlos talked about earlier the grant, you'll see the specific indicators identified by that grant. We have analyzed this data through our LCAP process. We see clear evidence of progress, but we also recognize that there are areas that required our continued focus and attention. We view these metrics as a roadmap. They show us exactly where our approach is thriving and where we need to double down on our efforts to ensure every student is reached. We are seeing the impact shift and we are committed to the work that still lies ahead. As indicated by the by the data on this slide, we are moving the needle. There is consistent growth across in almost every indicator. If you look at this, most notably, right, in our graduation rates, they continue to rise. Our CTE pathway completions, we're noticing considerable growth. These numbers aren't aren't accidental.
I'll make a motion to adopt uh budget revision number three for fiscal year 26, 2026. I'll second the motion. All those in favor? I Meinda Saskki. I Fred Rushton. N Charlene Diaz. Hi V Zarziki. I Sheila Bernett. Okay. I bet this is where the 200 plus plus some money. Yeah. Okay. Item 10.4. 4 capital projects over $50,000. Um, Madame President and board members, um, this has been the year to pilot and makes make recommendations for changes in science curriculum, science materials, and the committee has uh met recently um to review uh feedback from the sites relative to piloting two uh programs that that are different from our current program. and uh continue to consider the current program. Um the one that uh they are recommending is um on the website now already. Yeah. Has to be available for public review on the website and Jen's already put it up there.
>> I'm used to a more formal title. >> Did we have did we have consultants after it or did it just say >> I think it just said maybe it just said >> it's it's kind of like this. It's a little bit informal in how it's presented. >> Yeah. I guess my style would be to slightly formalize it and give their full company. >> I can add GCG consultants because >> I think there's more stylistic comment. >> What was your what was your comment on page? You said on page nine there was something I the you just >> about transformers being objectionable. I just said we used objection. >> I was saying that it was objectionable and I was just being kind of >> Oh, okay. >> Why is it objectionable? It's needed. >> Okay. Yeah, >> it's unsightly. >> Got it. >> Okay. So, um, I'll let the planning board keep thinking there, >> but what was the comment that you wanted to make, Matt?
They are a direct result of an authentic holistic approach. This work isn't a program or a grant. It happens every day in every period both inside and outside the classroom. This is how we have thriving students, thriving families, and thriving communities. >> Thank you, Emma. Thank you, Kenny. And so, where are we going from here? Right. and and that's the direction that we really want to um honor and and and celebrate thanks to the work uh that our families that I've advocated for, you know, doing more together and with not for but or to but with our students being at the center of the of the the decision-m our teachers, our our union amazing co-designers, co-creators uh in this community school steering committee work, our partners, our staff in the audience and and at home and of course the support that our cabinet and board meet.
Has to be reviewed for 60 days before it comes to the board for approval. Um so, so I'm not asking for approval of a specific program. However, once they picked one, we needed to have, you know, once they recommended one, we needed to have a handle on um on the expense of of funding that. So, uh the representative sent uh Jen two proposals. One being for approximately $139,000 for one year, a one-year contract. The second one being for three three about $35,000 for a six-year contract. Wow. A difference of Yeah. over the over the six years of 800 over $800,000. Yeah. Common sense says go with the six-year contract. Yes. Okay. And uh and so it behooved me to move a little bit of money around in the in the uh capital uh budget. and use a good bit of this 233,000. Uh so we know that no program is going to be less than the one that they're going to recommend.
I'll take comments from the >> from the applicant now. >> Thank you. U, just a quick question. Under conditions three, back to subsection C. Um, this may be standard language for the board, but there's there's kind of some wiggle room on some things like moving the building a couple feet this way or that way. And then in what's section uh sorry I lost it here. >> Sorry. This is page eight number C or letter C. >> Page eight. Yes. Conditions 3C. >> Okay. >> And then with within the about halfway down through the paragraph. It really leaves no wiggle room whatsoever for minor drainage or parking changes. I'm just curious if that's always standard language. It's, you know, nice to have a little bit of u, you know, if it's deemed more than dimminimous, obviously we'd come back to the board, but it's kind of hard and fast.
this is the work that we're going to move forward. Uh again, coherence. You hear redesign and you're like redesign. We're redesigning. We've been redesigning. We've been on that journey and we will continue to continue to say we're good. Let's go. Let's go better. We've identified some gaps. Let's get there. And how do we do that? We do that together through coherence, sustainability, and scaling. And so this last piece here is in the 2627 school year, we're going to merge some systems that were almost intentionally siloed. And that is how we sustain coherent in a scaling way. Um that every one of our schools is merging. You know the school site council very important critical work a lot of compliance driven. This is the the creation of the school plan. The community school site team that was part of the grant that said you know you need a team of students families and staff together.
So I'm just wanting to earmark the money uh to uh look at a six-year program. The other benefit uh of this is of having the six-year contract is this particular company uh is in the process of realigning their entire program to align with Arizona standards. That won't be ready for next school year, but it will be ready for the year after. and we will be grandfathered in to receive all of those changed materials in this contract. So once again, it would be poor fiscal management to recommend that we go with an annual contract for them. So I'm I'm asking for approval uh to earmark $35,000 for a science a new science program. Dr. Stuart, how long have these people been in uh in business? I have no idea. Oh, a while. We already have their preschool program. They have multiple different, but they're they're not new.
If we move the parking space 6 in, we might have to come back. >> That is language that is different than >> than we typically have. So, um, >> so how would you >> I thought is it >> um I couldn't say which one I pulled it from to be honest where I drafted this from. Um, >> I mean the two sections that jump out to me are any change to the project's drainage design, any change in parking lot design just leaves no wiggle room. I don't know if there can be something put in about you know deemed more than dimminimous changes or or you know at the discretion of the board or the you know planning department st what whatever the language that would be appropriate but maybe just have a little bit of a a buffer in there. >> I I understand that that's reasonable.
We're going to be merging those two systems. We're doing that together for the purpose of streamlining empowering the collaborative. We've learned so much from this grassroots way of this community school site team developing goals, looking at universal assets and needs, making those recommendations and those shifts. And we're and we're putting pressure on the system while all along this school site council has been working extremely hard to figure out how the best way of using that funding, those resources to create long-lasting change. And so it it aligns. Our vision is aligned because we're bringing those systems together, our guiding principles is humans over process. And that's really important. And that's what we learned through the community schools of work at work work uh focusing on the collaboration shared responsibility. It's all of our collective work. And then how do we listen uncover reimagine and move uh looking at the street data which is closest impact to to our um you know our students our families and those serving in in in the work uh that we do.
Okay. And they are spec and they're pretty much known for for science as a science. You know, it's not based on what I looked at online, they're pretty much science, right? They do it all. Okay. when I looked it up, it it was very much, you know, it was very focused on science. So, they've been doing it a while. The second uh the second request is um now that we have reduced uh the CTE options at Fox Creek from 3 to one. Um u because two of those positions were uh were eliminated positions. Um uh then I felt like we need to make sure that we have the appropriate materials and resources to make that one program successful. Our computer lab uh there uh the equipment in it ranges from uh from a couple of years to about eight years old. Um and so some of it is on the on the verge of not being able to be y you know updated and supported.
Um how do you phrase >> design is a little How do you phrase more than dimminimous? Is that is that a way you can just say greater than >> change to the project? You could say something like any change to the project's drainage design >> deemed substantial by >> How about any nondeminimous change? There you go. Any change deemed >> by who? >> The building inspector. >> Okay. >> He's usually because usually he's the one that is making those calls on site, right? >> Is that is that acceptable? >> Yeah, I I think so because any of those changes that may happen would happen prior to, you know, building permit likely or or it would be something that we could discuss with him, >> right? Okay. you know, if we come up against something in the field, we have to make an adjustment, you know, he'll already be active in the project.
And so together we're going to be doing this that is what's coming up in this the 26 27th school year. Uh our schools are moving. They're getting married. uh you know that system is getting getting married and we're going to we're excited about that. So together as we close here we are a community school district. We are a community school district representative of all of our schools uh here on the slides. And with that as Kenny described we are uh helping our students, our staff, our community thrive. Thank you very much and I thank everybody in the audience for being a part of this journey. And with that, >> yes, thank you so much for the presentation to Kenny and Emma for being here and all our parents, our community school partners uh for being here tonight. Um very proud of the work uh that this team across our sites in the district and our school sites have done.
Um, plus I thought, you know, we're looking at a steam pro steam program for uh that CTE and um a good bit of that is technology. Um, and so, you know, I want to make sure they have the tools that they need to be successful. Um, James has been doing some research for me. U, we think we can come in below the 50,000, but I wanted to be sure that I just didn't go over without having your approval. So, um, that's why I put a $50,000, uh, thing on there. So, that uses some of the money that we currently have in the in the capital budget, uh, and a little bit of the of the new money to round that out. The third one is, uh, we've talked about I've talked with you about the fact that our transportation uh, meeting area and whatever in in the bus barn, uh, has some real safety issues and health and safety issues.
So, >> right. So, any change deemed to be non-deminous and we'll put that in um >> building inspector signing off on drainage system or is it more storm water and com kind of weighing in those? Not sure the building inspector would look at drainage. >> Um I mean if it's like your storm water sweep plans and things like that, it's not building inspector. >> The conservation overseas. >> Yeah. So I don't know if it's it's in the preview of building inspector. >> Yeah, we could do that kind of for the a kind of covers broader. >> So with do what to it? >> Authority having jurisdiction. >> Oh, there you go. >> Yeah, good one. Got that on both of them. >> Yeah. Yeah. So it'll be the same term in the Yeah. So it'll either go to the building inspector or concom or wherever it needs to go.
Uh just impactful to our students and families. You know, as a board member, uh it's a privilege to support this type of work that then supports our students and families. And u we've gotten a lot of recognition um from the state. Um ASA has gotten a lot of recognition for their partnership. Um I've heard from board members across California about our model of community schools. So that does not that work does not uh get done alone. So thank you again for your partnership. Uh with that I will take questions from the board. Trustee McCullis. >> First of all amazing presentation everybody and for all the hard work that so many have dedicated uh to community schools. I firmly believe in community schools, community responsive teaching, pedigogy, sustainability, all that. Right. Um I do have a few questions of Carlos or anybody who would like to share.
Um, so I would like to get started on uh a a replacement uh that I'm now calling the transportation annex. I couldn't figure out what to call it. Um uh we are we are doing u upgrades and and fixing up the trailer to move the offices back out there. But we want to make sure that it's a good work environment and it's been used for storage now for seven six or seven or eight years. And so, you know, we want to make sure that it's usable, but it doesn't begin to have the space to have a meeting room and and that kind of thing. Uh, plus we really do need restrooms that are accessible by bus drivers outside of business hours. Um, because, you know, they bring buses back to the yard and they need to be able to get to a restroom. Um, so, um, I know we can't do the whole project for this amount, but I'd like to start phase one.
>> Do you want to scroll the screen up so that we can just see where that landed on page nine? Okay, there we go. In no event shall any of the following >> relocation of billing footprint by more than two feet in any direction. Any changes deemed non dimminimous for the authority having jurisdiction for the the project strange design? kind of common, right? If you move the building 2 feet, say towards that already a pinch point that we approving of that 25 ft. Um, so it should kind of cover the all those requirements versus just the project drainage system. So you want it to somehow cover everything and say no event. >> Yeah. >> Shall any of the falling be permitted without authorization from the board? >> Because aren't we approving that pinch point that is there? >> You are you're saying they can move two feet in any direction without coming before you for review or relocation of the building footprint.
Uh first and foremost, thank you Emma with your presentation on uh page eight slide I don't know what slide number that is. Student perspective you talk about uh social emotional learning drawing and painting which is a visual performing arts English language arts with regards to poetry. Beautiful poem by the way. Uh I love that you're talking about current issue. Well, this is question directly to you could be to anybody um that you're talking about current issues in the community that students face with directly, right? Especially for example, immigration, right? These are examples of what uh community responsive teaching is is what is happening in our neighborhood schools that affect students from learning. Um but what about within and if anybody could share uh maybe the sciences, maybe other subject areas uh that is being taught, maybe a few more examples. >> Anybody? of that particular topic, immigration or others that >> because I'm seeing within areas of different disciplines, you know, uh immigration would probably be under social studies, uh drawing and painting, visual performing arts, English language arts with regards to poetry.
