Staff carries even on their lanyard just pictures. So our program uses a lot of visuals where they point. They reinforce good job more things like that. So it really has been amazing and a great addition. >> Thank you so much. I want to thank our the Clifton Education Foundation funded two of the two boards that we do have and um Miss Ko had reached out to me about coming up or applying for a specific grant to be able to fund additional ones and we're hopeful that will also create the movement within the Clipton community for those sports to also be accessible in some of the recreation centers throughout the district. >> Thank you. Don't leave Don't leave.
I remember using it when I taught 20 years ago. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> And I'm sure it's changed since we had it. >> So, you you would have remembered Kyle Harmony 2.0. 0 which is what I did as a teacher now like it wasn't web based you had to go log on your now it's Harmony 3.0 which is a web-based platform you do it from anywhere I remember when we got that as a teacher I was like I do grades on my couch awesome but but back then I had a gradebook you know and I put them in and then I went to school the next morning and I had to put them in the computer >> and and now you know just sit on your couch and do it whatever right >> it's changed even since we had it last at this school >> yeah well it would have been probably Harmony 2.0 I know even here >> um even because what was it 10 years ago I think we looked back because there was Skyward in between Harmony and Power School, right?
call if you >> I would just encourage everybody to um also um look you know if they have an opportunity to look at the document um not just look at you you know the expenditures and everything and and the department data but also look at the analysis um and just kind of the bigger picture outlook and the context uh that we're working in because I think that's that's important too um because That hits to a couple points that you made, Brandy and Claudia, about um the increase relative to Prop 2 and a half. Um and just I think it's a really good um a really good way to look at okay this is what's happening in Ashlin, but you know this is happening because of things outside of our control number one and as such so many other municipalities are facing that as well. >> Yeah.
Shows bunt. That's a strike. Judge can't find it. And the runner will head on to second. And Milo Bussinger is in the scoring position. Good thing the ball didn't go too far cuz Judge couldn't see it. Nothing and one. That's upstairs. It gets by Judge. Here comes the runner to the plate. He is safe. Snyder scores and the game is tied. That's make you wonder why did he take out Passalacqua there? I don't know if it was a if he was hurt or if there's some other reasoning behind it. But quickly this game is tied. Still nobody out. Bussinger moved down to third there. Baker shows bunts again. Judge is having a He's having a tough time squeezing it. And it's one and oh, or sorry, two and one. Here comes the 2-1. Dropped again and it's two and two. And Chris Bradica giving some words of encouragement for his catcher.
Um, [clears throat] one of my the most impactful things from that program was our word of the week that we did. Um, and we pick a word word for the week that would um, be applicable to the competitions and our practices that week. And not only did she continue that my whole time at West Valley, but also as I went on to play five seasons of collegiate volleyball, she texted me every week and just maintain that relationship with me, which really impacted me as an athlete. And um I just probably wouldn't have been able to continue um playing college volleyball if it weren't for her. And I just think that really speaks to the relationships that she's able to build with her players. Um, and I just feel like it would be such a loss for just the whole program to lose her as a role model and just to lose that relationship with her that I got the opportunity to have.
>> I'll move to adopt resolution 25-9 to assign the non-remployment notices. >> Let's second that. Okay. >> And roll call vote again. President Hal I. Trusty Nuin >> I. >> Trusty Shernasan. >> Hi. >> Trusty Brewer. >> I. >> Trusty Boak. >> I. >> Thank you. And the resolution passes. >> All right. Next is D1 board policy 5000. It is recommended the board review and approve board policy 5000 concepts and roles for a first reading. This is uh an umbrella policy piece that just describes um the overall purpose of every policy that's in the 5000s which impacts our students. Okay. >> Move to review and approve board policy 5000. >> Second. All those in favor? I. >> The board policy passes. Next is D2, board policy 5117. It is recommended the board review and approve board policy 5117 interd district attendance for a first reading.
Um which is amazing for again a small market like Chico to field program that routinely uh beats out the state in something like uh movie making in cinematography and digital media. That's really So huge congratulations to them. >> Awesome. Oh, you're fine. Um okay.
Does any of the commissioners have any questions about the program you like to ask? very thorough. The presentation was outstanding. >> Thank you. And I have a question. >> Join and um log on to the presentation that myself and a the other two behaviorists and our assistant technology coordinator is hosting on April 23rd for the Department of Education at 10 a.m. >> I have one question. How did Rocky interact with the student to get the student to talk? >> Rocky has been amazing. He's super sweet. Um, we were able to introduce him into the classroom. Um, the one little girl said dog. She just saw him and was petting him and said dog for the first time and we've been integrating him into speech sessions and she's been able to imitate words and sounds >> and amazing. Parents must have been over the moon they heard that.
Is that correct? >> Yeah. It wasn't web based. >> Yeah. So it would have been 2.0. So that's changed. Um >> there's a 3-day on-site training. >> Yeah. >> In that too. >> Yeah. So they'll they'll provide on-site training. Again, like I feel very com it's not changed since I was in it. So I feel very comfortable is providing our administrator training. Mr. Pekkin's like I can leave the teacher training. I mean I was doing it this year. I mean, you know, as far as um so they'll do a lot of that training, but then also like we've got people that are totally comfortable doing it as well. But then again, that nice piece is you pick up a phone call and call somebody. And so the lady that I used to always call, her name was Carol call. She's retired now, but I had Carol's phone number and I just called Carol.
I a couple of things about that. First of all, the out of the our control, right, is something I've thought a lot about is that there is so much out of our control now and um and and making it so challenging for the things that we want to control locally to do well, right? Um the other thing, two questions. I know that before we've raised the the millionaires tax that was supposed to come back and really help fund education and that has really more gone towards um higher ed I believe. Um >> and so you know I think that that's something we should probably keep talking with our legislators about. Um, and the other thing, Michael, and you're you have a lot of experience, uh, um, if if you were going to go to the legislature and and say, "This is my suggestion. These are ideas I have about how you should better fund uh, communities or, how communities could be better funded." What have you thought about what kinds of things you would look for, what ways that you would ask that they do that?
I'm going to say encourage. On a two ball and two strike count to Chris Baker. Here comes. Dropped again by Judge. And the count is full. Might need a new glove. Don't know if that one has broken in yet. And it looks like Coach Messer is thinking the same exact thing. Passalacqua is coming back in. So they will do another switch. So could be a little bit of a nerves thing for Kevin Judge there. Big spot to come in middle of the inning. A full count here. It's a big pitch. All right, here comes Passalacqua. It's a good first game to commentate. This is a good It's a good game. How many innings does this go? Go seven. Seven, okay. Been a long couple innings here. A lot of action. As out. It's been going my whole practice. Yeah. Don't forget to catch the varsity lacrosse team at Dedham.
Um, so that's all I have to say. Thank you. >> Thank you. [applause] [laughter] >> Hey, that [clears throat] was tough to hear on all sides, right? Um, I'm not here to to talk negative about anything. Um, but I do want to shed some light on the past. I read an article that said, um, Melissa was the coach in 2017. Um, Harla Davis was the coach in 2017, and I interviewed for that position in 2018. Um, I sat in front of a panel, went to the board. Um, I have a really well-written thing, but it's hard to read. I want to get to the parts that I think I think I really want to share. Um, I started in the Pico and I met Melissa and Jesse and they had a cool club going and they needed a spot to practice and they needed another coach and I was the ado and I was coaching volleyball.
Um this is just uh there's an updated component to the interdist attendance policy in California. There's been an option for districts to um function as a schoolof choice district. that option was going to be sunsetted last year, but then a uh legislation was passed that extended that option indefinitely. We don't operate that program here in Beressa, but it is an option if the district wanted to consider that in the future. >> Right. Move to review and approve board policy 5117. >> Second. All those in favor? >> I. >> All right. And last, board policy 5131.8. It is recommended the board review and approve board policy 5131.8, mobile communication devices for first reading. This is the policy related to last month's middle school uh cell phone presentation that you all received. And so this is the one that'll bring us up to date based on the law requirement for July 1, 2026.
Do we have any questions about the consent calendar? Would anyone like to pull a consent item for discussion? Okay. Do we have a motion at this time to approve the consent calendar? >> Sure, I will move approval of the consent calendar. >> I'll second. >> Okay, we have a motion by um member Lando, second by Vice President Olsen. Let's go ahead and do a um individual roll call vote. We'll start with you, Mrs. Robinson, if that's okay. >> Robinson, I. Lando, I. >> Conklin, I. >> Olsen, I. >> Hayes, I. >> All right, um that passes with a vote of five to zero. Okay, awesome. Moving along, um one moment here. Okay. Um the next item is um our discussion action calendar, educational services. Um this evening we'll be discussing um the 26 27 annual Chromebook replacement purchase. Um Mr. Vincent. >> Good evening, board.
>> Yeah, we love it. >> Thank you so much for sharing that with us. Another I'm not going to talk anymore after this. I promise. But this is the perfect segue into this program, our therapy dog program, and a budget situation. I can't tell you how many times I've heard in the past few months that we're spending so much money on therapy dogs. All right. Well, two things. One, we're not. All right. So, the therapy dog program, the only thing the district pays for is the initial training. Everything else is covered by the employee. The purchase of the dog, the food for the dog, the vet bills, everything is covered by the employee. The district pays for a one-time training. But you ask that one parent how much she would pay to have her child speak their first word >> with the help of a therapy dog.
I'm like, "Hey, Carol, I need help with it." You know, and she talked me through it, right? Um you know, with with Power School, we've either we've got two options. we go through a a subcontractor outside vendor or we call and and most the names um with the power school people certainly I'm sure they're nice folks but I can't pronounce their names and so it it's a trouble there's there's sometimes a language barrier there piece trying to trying to figure some things out too a little bit so so it's not just a like it believe me it is not just a financial thing yes that is a huge piece but just operationally we are going to be a lot quicker more efficient better um just just this week our two different buildings. um we ran into an issue um with what's it's going to affect us on some state reporting things because like in powers school for example there's two different ways you can put in discipline records for students and so um the elementary schools is perfect the high schools has about 100 errors and we'll have to go clean all those up right and so um it's just we ran into it last year too so it's just it's a little I don't know bigger clunkier I think maybe now if you've got a bigger if Sam had seven other IT people with him.
Um, you know, there's there's a Yes. And there's a few different uh ways to approach this, I think. Um, number one, I think uh sharing part of the income tax um uh would be uh certainly appropriate. Um although, you know, I know the state is facing their own uh funding um funding issues. Um, you know, maybe even if the state adopted a policy in a in a law where they fully fund public education. Um, and uh, and maybe, you know, I think that sounds like wildly expensive. Um, and I don't want to say that it's not going to be it wouldn't be expensive and that there wouldn't have to be reductions in other places, but I think there's, you know, other savings that would be associated with that, believe it or not, that I can't really articulate explicitly now, uh, that would offset some of that.
Is that tomorrow? Yeah. Big game at Dedham. Trying to get that second win. And here we go. Full count here to Baker. Infield is in. Here comes. Strike three. Got him looking. Huge strikeout for Schreiber. Big, big pitch. Second time Baker has gone down on strikes. And now the number nine man, Tommy Quinn, will bat. 0 for 2 so far for Quinn. He'll take just upstairs. Infield stays in. Trying to cut that runner down at the plate. That's outside. 2 and 0. 2-0. That's a fly ball into left. McCoy is right there for it. Runner will tag and head to the plate. The throw is not in time. A sac fly as Coach Messer thinks that he left the base early. And they threw it back to third just in case, but it will not be an out. So Holliston regrabs the lead. It's 6 to 5.
It was perfect match. Um, I just want to say that was the beginning of one of the best relationships I've had. Um, fast forward, I was going through the administration program and uh, I got recruited to be the B teacher at West Valley. I said, "No, I love I love Facum." Parker knows [snorts] I was his I was his AD. Um, but EMTT was persistent. So, I I told him there'd be some some things. I was not going to coach PE. I would be a strength and conditioning teacher for all athletes, girls included. I know Maddie was impacted by that as well. Um, so he gave me the position and at that time that's when Carla Davis retired and I interviewed for that. Since getting hired the last two seasons, I've done everything behind the scenes possible. Um, I I have them all listed here.
And we still waiting for um implementation for elementary schools, correct? For next, is there next schedule for next school year? >> They all go together at the same time. >> I see. Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Do they currently have a policy? Because I I did see a few students using the cell phone in the elementary schools, which is why I'm asking whether what is their current policy. >> So there is no current policy right now. So this will be implemented elementary schools as well. >> After this, they have to do. >> Yes. Okay. Gotcha. So, let's hurry up and do it. So, move to review and approve board policy 5131.8. >> I'll second that. >> All those in favor? >> I. >> All right. Next up is our bond program E1. It is recommended the board approve the AMSNET LLC DBA management impact solutions agreement for the uninterruptible power supplies through the -ate program for all district sites.
