Back to McKenney. McKenney looking to set up the offense. Goes around the corner. She's one. She gets turns around, gets hit and Sabina McKenney. After 11 minutes into the first quarter, East Longmeadow looking to get their first shot on net. Sabina McKenney 8-m attempt. McKenney runs it in. She goes up, down. The Spartans are finally up on the board with a goal by Sabina McKenney. And that's the longest time it's taken the Spartans to score a goal in the last 5 years. Minnechaug doing a good job on defense holding holding it Spartans to bay. Kylie Marino up on the draw. Taylor doing a good job for the Falcons today winning most of the draws. Kylie Marino winning the last one. Hopefully the Spartans can keep that that going. Ball goes up and it's in Mack direct Mack Whitmer or Sabina McKenney's direction and she gets it.
I think >> the hours are on our social media if anybody's interested. >> Yeah, I don't do social media anymore. >> Facebook and uh Instagram. >> Thank you, Carol. >> I read How to Break Up with Your Phone and I I'm not on social media anymore. >> Okay. Thank you very much. You're welcome to stay and listen to your your elders or you may uh take off. >> Next we will hear from Maline Taber and Connor Rayall uh our high school CHS representatives. >> Hello everyone. It is so nice to see you all again and we hope that everyone was able to have a restful break and enjoy it as well. As we get back into things, you may have noticed that our April showers are bringing May flowers and we are excited to share a bouquet of fresh and exciting updates for all of you.
And my question, we were talking about this as you were coming in, if we were to just if we were to separate the two of them and we just did the loading dock, we would have to redesign the lower lot anyway so we can get cars in and out at the same time. So down by the the the back stairs to the >> with extending the loading duct. kind of why they're the jobs are really, you know, one single unit is because as soon as you extend the loading dock, you're closing off that entry space. Yeah. >> If you just do the loading dock, there's only going to be one means of entry and egress into that other lot, which is going to be, you know, very difficult to manage. So, we'd have to come up with something either provide a secondary means of egress out of the parking lot that's going to have to be incorporated into loading dock jobs.
Like I think that's what a lot of people are going to put their money on cuz nobody wants to go to lunch and get just cupcakes. I want to go to lunch and get like a chicken sandwich and then go get some cupca Like I feel like that is definitely going to change a lot this year. Yeah. Right. >> Mhm. Was that Was that >> Me, too. Yeah. Appreciate it. Well, um >> I was not listening to a single thing he said. Go on. Well, I mean, I agree. Like going to lunch, you're supposed to eat lunch, not straight sugar. No, I'm sure some people are just going to be like, you know what, cut straight to the snacks, but I Yeah, Jake back there, you know. People might just get lunch then like stop by the store. >> mad last year is we set our prices lower.
David Earnsdorfer, who's the stamped the uh the drawing set on uh the 1211 or 1212 submission. Um If I could just interrupt for a moment, I'm glad you object, because so do I. Yeah. You know, um this is the first time Just this is the first time that we've been presented with a comment that we would buy approving something based on what is accepted as an equal or better form of construction puts us in the position of being or acting as the engineer of record. I mean, that basically leaves us with absolutely no alternatives besides, you know, either saying the code was not applicable or that was misinterpreted or doesn't apply to this structure. We've never I've never seen this on any city presentation. And it's I mean, it's to me it's potentially problematic for the reason that this gentleman just explained. There is an engineer of record.
Throughout the summer months, I will be hosting meet and greet sessions with Stacy's help. I want to hear from you about Center Grove's traditions and what you envision for the futures of our schools. I believe the relationships we build collectively are the foundation for student success. Together, we will continue to the foster the values of learning, empowerment, and community at Center Grove. Before I conclude, I would be remiss if I did not thank my family for supporting me throughout this journey. You encourage me. You inspire me. You never ask questions when Mommy has to be at school. And I really appreciate your support. Again, thank you to everyone who came out this morning. It's an honor to serve as superintendent of Center Grove, and I can't wait to get started. Thank you. Thank you. As there is no other order of business, I now close this meeting.
So, we love that, and we know that you girls were going to respond to that, and there were times I was sitting there saying, "Okay, Stuck, here we go. They need it. Is he going to do it?" And he does, and then, you know, everything works out well. Um so, I want to thank him um and his family. His daughter's here tonight supporting, because I know that's a lot to have dad away. Uh we truly are fortunate to not only have him as a coach, but a phenomenal teacher. What you see on the court is what you see in the classroom. He is uh he's dedicated. He is on task He has those kids on task No one's getting away with anything, and to me, that's such a blessing, not only to the girls that he's helping coach, but then all the students we have in our school.
Um over the last decade you actually went up um averaging about 50 a year and kicked up a little bit since then. The big problem is the 530. I don't know if you're going to make that or not because existing home sales right now are through the floor. They're just not the elderly are just not moving. That's a very very key factor. Um so you add those two together, you're about 600. You need 600 housing sales. It really doesn't matter if it's new or existing. All that comes into the distribution. But to to this forecast [clears throat] need 600 to come. If no one moves in, no one sells their home, your enrollment is going to drop to the floor. I'll show why in a second. Now, that's not going to happen, but the key number to look at is at 5:30. Now, we're in April.
There's McGinnis over there in the back. That's a place where you'll see McGinnis setting up quite a bit. She She'll set up from behind, try to take it out and either drive or or hit a cutter. Uh it's a a frequent alignment that they have with So they're calling out a play now um which is play they call Yukon. Play that you must love. >> Yeah, I do love that. Having a Very fond of it. Talking about UConn, we're we're we're big UConn fans, especially uh for uh excited to see Izzy Fife going to uh Dallas, being back with Paige, so So that's generally a two-person game uh trying to hit a cut or either taking it individually or hitting a cutter. Right there is a good pass from behind but just again didn't connect. Hopefully Erin Hickey trying to track the ball down in the corner doing a good job fighting for it.
Gets the ball over the restraining line. Turns around. Goes in, nothing there. Gets the ball to Kylie Marino. Temporarily loses it. The ball's still around. Marino kicks it out. And she'll get called for called for raking call. Minnechaug will get the ball and that's it for the end of the first quarter. Minnechaug up 3-1. >> All right. Start of the second quarter action is uh Lee Stackowitz and Sergentko each had a goal for Minnechaug and East Longmeadow's lone goal was scored by Sabina McKenney. Ava Pellegrino is up on a draw. Pellegrino, the freshman. Good job by the freshman to win that. Throws it up. Offsides on East Longmeadow. Yeah, that's tough. Pellegrino was going to come out with that ball and the Spartans stepped over the line and Minnechaug ends up getting it. Good job by the freshman to win the draw minus the offsides call.
>> Yes. So, sports are in full swing up at the high school. We had a very successful day yesterday with lacrosse, baseball, and softball all earning home wins. Uh I'd like to give a little shout out to a personal friend of mine, Dylan Scaliz. Dylan pitched five shutout innings yesterday and not only did he pitch five shut out five shutout innings, he was three for four with a run scored. So, he really had a a big hand in baseball's win yesterday. But not only did we have wins on the field, we took the time yesterday to recognize eight athletes who will be continuing their careers in athletics next year at college. In total this year, Chesher High School had 28 athletes who committed to play at the next level. So, we would like to take the time to acknowledge them all. Speaking of big milestones and exciting next steps, April also means prom season.
So, I don't know how much that's going to cost, but say it's going to be uh 15 to 20% of renovating the entire parking lot correctly, you know, in order to accommodate that. So, >> and one more follow up on the if we were to separate the two of them to have that reddrafted, re-engineered, whatever, how much ballpark what would that cost us >> designwise? Yeah, I would I would allocate at least 50 50,000. >> Okay. So what that would look like um and we can come back to this is moving that 874 to a subsequent year putting 50 for design work. >> You'd have to allocate Yeah. design money. >> Yep. Um because we need to get that approved. We don't have any capital funding that could be applied for that design. So we'd have to wait and get that. >> Do you mean capital funding?
That's what we actually did is Whoa, another thing you should do. If you're doing market day, try to set your prices lower than the all the cart prices. So, people like drinks and sodas, all the cart their tea is like what, $2? I think so. Yeah, I've never Believe it or not, in >> my four years of high school, I have never gone to all the cart. Oh. Well, I was going to say, what you can do is set it lower than the all cart prices. So, there's a point to just go to you instead of going to all cart, this whole thing. >> Yeah. Yeah. I think it's it's a lot better. Um anyway, sorry. Continue. What what were we talking about? It was the It was What you're excited to see. Oh, yeah, excited to see. So, yeah, just actual food, not sweets.
They're taking responsibility for the engineering of the building or the accessory structure. So, I'm just would like to make that point that um this is the first time we've I've ever seen this, and I've been on the board now for 20 years. And I'm hoping that this is not going to be a repeat statement that's included in the city's packet as part of [clears throat] their report, because that to me that would be very difficult to function on this board if if that's the case. I just like to make that point. Sorry. Thank you. Um >> [sighs] >> yeah, so basically [clears throat] what this comes down to, I mean, this what I was I as I interpret the language, um I mean, the building code is full of language of reasonable equivalents. I mean, it has to be to be able to get anything done, and it's up to this board to mediate differing inter- differing interpretations.
So, congratulations to the girls basketball team, Coach Stuckmeyer. And then, do you want to do Grayson now? Okay. Coach, if you'll come up and talk about Grayson. We should make you stand up there, too, Grayson. Come on, sweetie. >> Well, thank you for the kind words. And well deserved to our girls and our program and our coaches that could not be here. So, thank you. Um you're only as good as a coach as your players and obviously we're recognizing Grayson as one of those players and um just the accolades that she has received. Um in our state Miss Basketball is the most distinguished honor um an individual can receive as a student athlete. Um in the sport of basketball for sure. Um it's a award that is awarded to the single top senior player in Indiana based on superior on the court performance. Um this recipient does not just represent their school.
We're just in the beginning of the summer home buying season. Most people with kids move between April and August. >> [clears throat] >> So, what you need to do is get on Zillow, Realy Track, Realy.com, or your favorite platform is. We use all three and start tracking it. You need to have about 200 homes in the market constantly if you're going to make it through this summer season because guarantee you August 15th, you're going to start seeing listings drop off because that's that's when the summer famine market ends. Next slide. [clears throat] Okay, the number one uh variable for predicting population enrollment, it's not birth, it's not death, migration, it's age structure. How is your population distributed across the body? Okay, probably almost half of the explained areas. This is the district for 2020. Easy to [clears throat] 0 to four is preschool at elementary, middle, high school.
And she maintains possession. That was That was good body position by Erin Hickey there. Well done. Yeah, well done. That is uh the Liv video I think with the goal. First goal of the game number 13 captain. Yeah, it was. That was a nice catch in the middle there and she had a little time to get the shot off and put it in. I think the pass might have come from Peyton Tripp I think it was Erin and Peyton to uh to Liv, yeah. So until we're told otherwise, that's what we're going with. >> Yep. All of our stats are unofficial. They are. Except we know right now we have not had a goal shot against our goalie. So that's that's the one stat although Alana has touched the ball but no official shots against us. That's right. So back to the draw circle, Maggie McGuinness going up against Mary Cronin who is a junior for Dedham.
Minnechaug with the ball. Stackowitz with it. Kicks the ball over to O'Connor. O'Connor goes in. She's met by two Spartans. Kicks it back up top to Sergentko. She kicks it over to Lee. Lee looking to work around. Good job by Byron to keep her out. Kozub with the ball. Kozub kicks it up to Sergentko. Sergentko feeds it in to Taylor who loses it. Pellegrino there to stays with it. Good job by Pellegrino. Yeah, Pellegrino comes up with the ground the loose ball. Only to get the ball displaced and Minnechaug comes up with it once again. Spartans having a really tough time with keeping possession with the ball in their defensive end. Kozub with the ball. Kicks the ball behind and that turns around gets hit. Kylie Marino gets a hit and O'Connor will be getting herself an 8-meter attempt. O'Connor, I think hit the post in the first quarter on an 8-meter.
Juniors will be having their prom the last Saturday of April at La Bella Vista and the seniors will be having their prom two weeks after that on May 9th at the Aquaturf. >> In preparation for prom, like every year, seniors will be attending a assembly run by Choices Matter. This organization is sponsored by Highway Alliance and its mission is to educate high school students on potentially life-changing decisions. April at CHS wouldn't be complete without recognizing the outstanding performances from our choir and band. Our spring coral concert and band concert will both be happening during the last week of the month with the band concert on April 28th and the chorus concert on April 30th, both at 7 p.m. We would also like to congratulate seniors Riley O'Brien and Matthew Johnson who received the CAS High School Arts Award on March 30th for their great talent in performing arts and music.
