Keeley. Good evening. Good evening. You know, I'm 5'9", so I have to pull this down. Um, first of all, I'd like to take a personal thanks to this gentleman behind me because um, I ain't going to say how long I've been part of this program, but they won't let me go. Uh, because my heart is always been with young people. I've been a part of Creek for over 42 years. So, I've seen a lot of people come and go and my energy is always here for the young people. So, I would like to take this opportunity, first and foremost, to thank your maintenance department, the buildings and grounds. Mhm. Awesome. Each school that we went in, they opened the door with coming out of their own time frame to be able to accommodate us. That meant a lot to us. So, I did present, and I know you found out, I gave everybody a gift cuz I'm a gift giver.
And in order to be able to offer our same sections and once you start getting in the high school, you have more specialties with your licenses, dual credit opportunities, some of those things that we can't stretch as far with some of those. So, that would be my recommendation um, for the board. You've seen this ahead of time. And then we also put in some grade band caps for us again because cafeteria times and and those types of things for us, we want to make sure that we do have the capacity. And so, a maximum of 500 students in the elementary, 240 students in the middle school, and 320 uh, students in the high school. And those have not changed from the previous year. What do you >> That's that. Right? Clear as mud.
I know our kids do too. One final thing is we have a handwritten note from a participant of the present. >> Thank you very much. Super excited. >> Thank you guys very much. Mr. President, I can finish the reports to the meeting. >> Moving on to the consent agenda. Mrs. Madison, you want to tell us what we paid out this last month? Claims for your approval tonight are voucher ranges 436332 to 436535 totaling 3,56,71820. You will also have financial reports attached that show our bank balances, fund reports for the district as well as the ECA accounts, cash flows for education operations fund, a resolution to transfer $80,000 from education to operations, and there are three donations attached. Um, one is a squat rack from Nightstown Family Fitness and two donations for postp prom, one from Timeless Furnishings and one from CFH Enterprises. >> There's also one out ofstate field trip.
Uh this is our school-wide collaboration that turned our gym into a robotic parade. This project showcased a unique chain reaction of integrated learning across four grade levels. It began in kindergarten and second grade, where students read Balloon Over Broadway and and applied integrated STEM standards to design and decorate balloon floats. The engineering then moved to fourth grade, where students followed complex blueprints to build the Vex Go Code Base robots. Finally, our fifth graders took the lead by integrating sensors into the builds and driving the parade robots to navigate the parade route. It was a powerful demonstration of how different grade levels can collaborate to solve a single creative engineering challenge. My job at the robot parade was to drive a robot that carried a second grader float along the parade route. I had to stay focused and make sure the robot moved safely and smoothly the entire time.
Um you will not see a lot of um spending, but as we go along, we have months where um I think it was November the total. Um can we go to the next page, please? all the way down to the bottom. Oh, no. I'm sorry. October. >> October, we have three pay periods. Most of the pay periods we have are two, but there's October and I believe I know May is another month. We have three. >> Yes. So, in March, we were actually doing some catch up on some invoices as they were coming in, trying to make sure that by the end of the year, we have as many paid as possible so we can also as we move along close the purchase orders so they're not outstanding and we don't have big incumbrances toward the end of the year. And then the last page is the grants.
Um are there any questions, comments, concerns from the board? Mr. Alfano, do you want to open it up to Mr. Alfano? Not online. Not online. >> Not online. Any Any of the public have any commentary for those Mr. Alfano, if you would please Your name address State your name and address, please. Uh Lindsey Rego. I'm I'm sorry. Lindsey Rego. Hi Lindsey. Sorry. Three times over. Yeah, cuz the mic won't stay. It's a little uh All right. Lindsey Rego, three time Hamilton Ave parent for quite a few years. Um good evening. Lindsey, just one second. I just wanted to give an overview that you have about 3 minutes. It is not a Q&A. It's just you voicing your views to the board. Okay. And it won't be part of a a dialogue. Perfect. Awesome. Sorry for I just came from a track meet, so working it, so that's why I'm still dressed in uniform here.
So, good luck to everyone and I look forward to eighth grade promotions as well. Thank you so much for that. Um I do not have a board update today, so I will turn it over to Mr. Mann for the Superintendent Report. Thank you, Madam President. Just a couple of other things that have been happening here in the district. We hosted last Saturday, we hosted Teach for America and all of their Teach for America teachers around the valley including those that work here in the Creighton district. I had the opportunity to stand in for Principal Earl cuz she was not available that morning and I was really glad that I did because one of the things um you know, sometimes you show up and people think they've told you what you're going to talk about and in this case I had no idea what I was going to talk about which as you all know I'm fine with, but it turned out what they what they wanted to know about as a group was the renaming of the school.
It's really Okay, time for my presentation. I apologize in advance. I'm kind of lacking on pictures this time. No one has been posting anything. Um Starting off with sports. Baseball has been happening. I've been to a few of their games. I got really sunburnt at one, so wear your sunscreen. Um cheer tryouts are happening soon. Track, they're about to move outdoors. They're very excited about it. Um tennis, boys tennis has been doing very well. Softball, lacrosse, you know, all the things. Girls soccer, dance team just picked their new captains for next year. So, Quinn Slepica and Olivia Costello Liv Costello, sorry Liv. Um Very excited for them. I'm very proud. Yeah. Okay. Clubs and events. Prom is on Saturday. I don't know if any of you are going to be there, but I'm very excited. Everyone is very excited. Um we have our spirit week this week.
So, I wanted to let your staff know that what they did for us was not unseen. Um Miss Gretchen, oh my god, she is target on with that calendar. She made sure that everything was communicated with us. Everything went so smooth. And last but not least, I cannot forget my Mr. Kenneki. Kenneki opened the door for us. We have a lot of communities that came and played at the high school. We were the largest facility, let me say that, that we played in. And when those babies walked in that gym and seen our gym, they were overwhelmed. We talking about from kindergarten to eighth grade. And one of the things that we try to do along with the association, we try to keep these programs going to make sure. So with the 7-on-7, again, the athletic department has been outstanding. Uh Matt, he made sure on the marquee when you walked in the building, it had UP Lions on it.
Any questions regarding the caps you just spoke of? No. Other than just to say thank you for had a lot of discussion around this. It's thing I mean it's tough because um, there are two sides of the coin really. Um, you know, what is the best direction moving forward? There are a lot of things to consider. And so, we even have differences of opinion a little bit on what to do. And so, um, we all feel pretty good about we feel like what we're proposing is a good balance of all of the feelings that we have about it. So. And if If wanting a student to come in to a capped grade, just move to borrow re-township. There you go. That's even better. Yes. Yes. And we And if we need to, we can revisit this at a later date to look at We can We can revisit if we need to.
The fifth grade would like to uh head over to Ohio to the National Air Force here. We've done that the last few years. That's been a very fantastic trip as well. Okay. >> What's the board plan? Second >> motion by Mrs. Ne second Mr. Chel to approve the consent agenda presented.
I was a a spotter. That meant I watched the robots closely to make sure they stayed on course and helped them guide back if they started to go off track. This experience helped me practice responsibility, teamwork, and problem-solving. And if you look really closely, Travis is Travis is in that that video. >> [laughter] >> He's spotting. Protecting our robots. [clears throat] Next, and this one's super exciting and this is our finale. Uh this project represents the transition from guided lessons to independent innovation. Without a blueprint, students identified a real-world problem, moving and transporting objects, and engineered custom robots to solve it. Using the STEM design process, they moved from a concept to a functional machine by integrating motors and sensors. Students applied advanced computer science logic to automate their designs, proving they can not only follow instructions, but can invent their own solutions to complex problems.
Do we have any questions? Uh so far moving through this, Louisa, I don't know if there's a um an attachment in this uh agenda of those onetime items I shared with you. I have them um ready to be pulled up when we get there, but I'm not I'm not sure if it's in here just to discuss what those one-time items are that we've been speaking about for the last couple months. >> Yep. And before we get that, can you just explain a little bit um especially for some of us that don't know about the um the credit from Sigma for the pharma and how that works and why we why we get that? >> Yeah, sure. So, our um sign contract when our employees go to the pharmacy to get uh prescriptions, they are paying full price for the um uh for the the drug and then we get a credit um based upon that since we we're the ones paying the actual claims.
Good evening. My name is Lindsey Rego. I'm a building rep at the high school. On behalf of the union leadership, I am going to read you a statement. Although board policy is not inherently a union matter, this policy would create We were talking about the coaching policy. Would create a hardship and have a potentially negative effect on some of our members. As an organization that deeply values this community, we ask you to reconsider your this policy. Thank you for your time and consideration. Anyone else from the audience? Uh no. Okay, Mr. Anything else? Anything else to I'll make a motion to I'll make a motion to I'll make a motion to approve and I'll second it. I established Mr. first and that's Mr. Alfano and I'll second. I hear anything. We can't hear anything. We can't hear anything. There's a motion to approve the application the applicant I'm sorry that's next door.
And so, so it was really nice to be able to kind of share with them the great work the equity team at the school did, the board's partnership with the principal and the equity team at the school, and how that change came about and some of the things that we learned along the way. So, they seemed to be very appreciative of that. Also got a comment from two teachers who don't work in our district how shocked they were to see an administrator actually show up on a Saturday for something which was kind of fun for me. But, um We also have coming up pretty soon here in addition to our community council this Thursday, one of the other things that Teach for America has brought to us as we are the pilot for the We Grad program in partnership with ASU to bring um exploration of career options for students in middle school.
Um I didn't participate today. Which I'm a little bit lacking, but I did not get much sleep last night. So, it's okay. Um and then fun way after prom, which is always a highlight. Graduation is coming up. This is my last meeting. Um yeah. So, our speakers have been selected and have been practicing. Um Pride Club actually just painted a mural in the hallway. I didn't get a picture of it up here, but it's very sweet. It's a bunch of text bubbles saying things like you're enough, you're worth it, like positive affirmations, so it's very nice to walk through the hallway and see that every day. I got to actually help paint it cuz I TA for an art class fourth block. Um Friday, mock trial has a field trip. NHS had a field trip to Ooh. an art museum yesterday. Don't remember which one.
And you talking about cheesing, we was in glow. So I personally uh bought you all some gifts cuz I believe in gift giving. So on behalf of everybody part of the football association, we want to give these wonderful gifts to you all. And I do have one other I have two other gifts. I left them in my chair. So can you pass these for me? Here. Make sure you get it cuz I got a whole bunch of them. There we go. So we can't forget the president of this this school board because one of the things that I could say me and him, we've been working together. Our children are alumnus of this school district. And one of the things as alumni, you don't forget where you come from. And because of that, we have a gift for you. And now the lady on his other side, Dr.
Um again, want to be mindful of the fact that depending on which way we would go with revisiting, we would potentially have already told students that they couldn't be here and stuff. So, we need to go back and revisit that. So, that's that way could be a little more complicated. Um Okay.
Any questions or comments? All those in favor say I. I. Oppos the same motion carries. No old business. >> No old business. >> No new business. Discussion. >> No new business. >> Personnel report. Personnel report for this evening. Um in new employee, KES secretary. Resignation. Kylin Reynolds, seventh grade math teacher. Alexa Myers, KHS band and choir director. Debbie Love, Kesam Club. Under ECA, Tracy Smith is going to resign from choreographer position. Payton Massenale is going to pick up that choreographer position. Honey Hunt KS summer school. Chris Olie, summer baseball. Dad Cook, summer boys basketball. Dusty McGee, summer girls basketball and summer girls soccer. Brett Taylor, summer football. Adam Lyen, summer boys soccer. And Jason Cop, summer girl softball. That will Motion by Mrs. T, second by Mrs. Van Hoy to approve the personnel report as presented.
And me and I worked together to build this robot. We started with Vex Go Code Base, and then we modified it so that the robot could reach out and turn. We added the claw that could pick up Dixie cups. It took us several tries to get the claw open and close and close using the motor. We also had to figure out a weight distribution. Same thing. >> [laughter] >> So, the robot wanted to tip over. And it was in charge of adding weight to the back. Thankfully, Mrs. Buente had a lot of pennies we could use. I was in charge of designing and building the robot >> [clears throat] >> and the claw. Once we realized we needed more parts, we added multiple brains, motors, and sensors. And when we started coding everything, the sensors to control when the claw moves up and down and stops.
