Um, so you have to add that back in. Um, and how would this community react to a5 or $6 million override question um, in a year? Probably much more negatively than than a 2.75. Um, we're right in line. We have a policy in the community that where we've started at a 3.75% budget uh, number is where the schools are typically have um, been charged with getting to. um if an override passes, we should be held to that 3.75%. Right? And ensure that we're not going above that. And I think, you know, Chris Matthew and I have had that conversation. We can we can budget to this that number. We can do it. Will we have to supplement some of it through our one-time funds? We will, but we're more easily able to do that if we're not spending 1.1 million in operations out of those funds.
Midwest Energy said they would help out with that side of it. >> Okay. >> So, um we just have to communicate with them and everybody once we get point where if if this is what we're going to do, they know they have Yeah. to come out and do those things. Any other questions? I think definitely with the 25 year warranty for all that go is definitely the front runner. I would entertain a motion to approve the football field lighting with the added light show package from Musco or Musco lighting as presented. >> Also move motion by Josh. Is there a second? >> Second by Allison. Any further questions, comments, discussion.
>> Okay. Yeah. Get in here. >> All right. Tell me when. >> Hello. Hello. >> Guys, we're back here. >> Oh, we're back here with another person to interview. Can we get your name, please? >> I am Roberto. >> Hello, Roberto. Okay, so I've heard through the great mind, through a little birdie that you are in another pretty big film project. A lot of people are excited about this one. Can you give us a little hint as to what it's going to be about? >> Um, you know, it's going to be very funny. It's going to be very uh sarcastic a lot and it's going to be it's going to be good. >> Awesome. Awesome. Okay. Um how are you feeling about this being your last film festival? >> Um I mean I am a little sad but I mean it's always good to come like I always come back and watch the younger kids do one.
So, so I'm going to back up a little bit and uh get back to the beginning here since it is our our last uh meeting. I did bring in uh what I think is the breakfast of champions which are BOSA donuts. So, please if you've not noticed that, please help yourself to one or more. No one's counting. Um just to remind you, we're back online. Uh so be sure to use the microphones um when you're asking a question or or making a comment. Uh make sure that you are aware that cameras are on and could could be seeing your >> that's okay. >> Might be seeing whatever you're working on, but I know we're not going to be doing other work because that's one of our norms because we're going to stay engaged. Um we'll turn the cameras off during small group. if you need to call for a caucus, those will be off and then lunch and breaks.
Um as a math teacher, kids frequently look at me with blank eyes, especially at 7:00 in the morning. So, this opportunity to get them up working on their whiteboard is really helping them to start their day. Right? So, we get them out of like uh I'm going to have to do stuff in my seat to no, we're going to get up, we're going to talk, and now we're going to do some math. And we've seen um tremendous um academic conversations going between these peers. Um they're much more comfortable asking the person right next to them than raising a hand in front of the whole class when they don't know something. And what's nice is they're able to talk about it in peer-friendly terms. Like, I've just taught them the mathematical language, which can be here or here for some of them, and now they're able to kind of regenerate it and let their peer know what that means to them.
Hearing none, all those in favor signify by saying aye. Aye. Opposed, same sign. We'll go to 8.7 administrative handbook. Yeah, again I I shared this with you a week or so ago, maybe two. [snorts] Those again are pretty minimal. A lot of the language in there is to mirror what is in the NEA handbook as well. Do take a note, some of the stuff I shared with you 2 weeks ago, Andrew pointed out to me on Friday, hey, it doesn't say assistant and associate principal. So, that has been changed. So, it says both assistant and associate principal. Just title title thing. So, ask for your approval as presented. Okay. Entertain a motion to approve the administrative handbook. So moved. Second? Second. >> [clears throat] >> Questions, comments on the administrative handbook? Do we already have the Wednesday before Thanksgiving as a holiday for? Correct. There's nothing that's changed in there as far as holidays.
Um, it's a difficult conversation to have. I get it. I appreciate it. My job is to ensure that the highest quality of education exists here in Ashlin. Uh, I'm trying to do that, but I'm also trying to put us on a path that um there's financial and fiscal stability over the next five years. Um and and I take great pride in how we've operated as a district um in my 13 years now uh superintendent. And I think we're going to uh continue to do great things here. Uh but this will just help us really set the path forward for the next 5 years. >> Superintendent Adams, thank you so much for your time today. Appreciate it. >> Thank you. I appreciate it. Thanks. Hey, hey, hey.
Hearing none. All those in favor say I. >> I. >> Any opposed? same sign. >> Motion passes 5 to one. Now item number four, donations. >> Okay, so we do have um I want to go through the donations that the rough neck reinforcers have visited with us on um so painting. So, they have um a quote for $15,253 to paint the mint green sophets as well as the face um to the overhangs at the high school. Um this would also include any of the pillars that need to be repainted. Um and then the yellow I don't know what you call them, the little yellow splotches decals on the high school gym to like an oiler green color or an oiler school color. Um, and then the donation of what would be $64,000 for the show light package to help replace the football field, the football field lights at Central Plains football field.
>> Awesome. Awesome. That's what we like to hear. Reoccurring people. Um is there anything you want to say about the film festival? >> Um I mean it's going to be great. There's a lot of films in here and it's going to be a very exciting show this year. >> Okay. Love to hear it. Well, thank you for the interview. >> Thank you guys. >> Of course. put batteries on the camera. >> What's that? Check one. Check one. Check one. >> Really? >> That was totally different. >> Hi guys. >> Good to be here. >> We have another interview here. >> What's your name? >> Kevin, what are you most excited for about this amazing film festival? >> So, I'm excited about all the emotions I'll feel. I may feel happy, sad, maybe a bit of heartbreak. So, that's mainly what I'm looking for. >> Great.
Obviously, I emailed the agenda out to everybody. I don't know if you had a chance to see that, but um we're going to spend quite a bit of time this morning talking about compensation from interest to the options and then consensus around our recommended options. And then this afternoon, we're going to do the work in preparation for you all presenting to the governing board uh all of your recommendations. So, uh we'll do that after lunch. And it's important. I know the there's a May board meeting, but a study session prior to that. Is that correct? Where they'll present? >> Yeah, the study session will be in May. The recommendation you will go to board in June. >> Got it. I got that confused. So, you'll be presenting in May. So today's uh prep time to get ready for for that study session. All right. So we're going to take a look at our norms.
And it's great because when when that student says to the next one, "Well, this is what we're going to do." Now they're reteaching it, right? We've shown that that that that Bloom's level taxonomy, like if we can teach something, we truly understand it. So, we're giving our students right there in that class that opportunity to um get that ability to immediately um practice what they've been working on. All right. So, our next steps at MHS include creating a repository of excellence. We will be beginning to video master lessons. Uh this digital library will serve as a permanent resource for new hires and veteran staff to see exactly what high-level student engagement looks like in practice. We'll provide targeted supports to ensure that this isn't this isn't just a one-off initiative. We are providing one-on-one instructional coaching specifically tied to the use of vertical whiteboards. This provides the safety net teachers need to take risks in their pedagogy.
No school day. I didn't know it was a holiday. >> It has been. It's been in there. It has. Those holidays haven't changed. Those days off haven't changed. Any other questions, comments? Maybe. I'm all second. Okay. No more questions. >> No more questions. I mean it was a while ago you gave us these documents and I made some notes and I couldn't remember where they all were. Thank you. Yep. You're welcome.
Um, and then they have that they want to donate, and I have this on the board docket for you guys to look at, is the bid for the donation for the purchase and installation of the gym screen and then the A flower cooler. and then that attached bid is on there as well for the donation of that. Um, so I kind of wanted to break that this down into two. So those are the items that they've talked about. They're also wanting to visit a little bit more have a little more time about gym chairs and then also gym backboards. So that'll kind of be down the line. Um but we would need to make a motion to move to accept those donations from um Rough Neck Reinforcers which would be the painting, the donation for the football field lights, the gym screen and installation and then the A flower cooler.
Is there any particular film that you're really interested to see? >> I have seen um trailers of Rush Hour and My Own Worst Enemy. They seem like my favorite two, but I need the whole film to really put in my pick. >> How exciting. And you guys need the whole film festival, too. So, you should start should come over. >> Let's get it. >> You want to feel these same emotions? Come to the film festival >> right now. Right now. >> Yep. Run. Run. Come on. Get your shoes on. Get your pants on. Get your shirt on. start booking it right now. >> Yep. >> Okay. Thank you, Gavin. We'll see you. >> All right. >> Bye. >> No problem. >> Of course. >> Thank you. I I will they won't walk. They won't walk you here. That'll be great. Thanks for letting me know.
And so what I'd like to do is uh take a look at your shoes. If you have lighter colored shoes, lighter than mine, uh I want you to read the first norm out loud for the group, please. Thank you. >> I swear to God I know how to read. >> Uh gentlemen, could you read the second norm out loud? >> Present and actively listen. >> Thank you. If you've got hair longer than mine, please read the third one. >> Demonstrate respect and positive. If your hair is as short as Ivon's or a little bit longer, but not not longer than mine. I don't think it gets much shorter. Could you read the next one, please? >> Sure. >> All right. If uh you have glasses on, would you read the next one, please? Engage thoughtfully and with purpose. And everybody on the last one, please.
PLTs, our teachers will continue meeting in reflective cycle in reflective cycles to look at actual student work. We aren't just asking, "Did the kids like the lesson?" but did the framework improve the quality of their thinking? Culture of transparency, we are establishing open door observations. We want to break down those silos of individual classrooms and create a school-wide culture where teachers learn by watching their peers at MHS. In science, specifically chemistry, we are deploying mobile whiteboards. These tools allow students to model complex molecular processes and capture lab observations in real time. It shifts the lab experience from the follow-the-recipe to active scientific modeling. One of our most exciting developments is adapting these practices for English and history. While thinking tasks while the thinking tasks look different in these subjects, focusing on analysis, interpretation, and argumentation, rather than just solving for X, the core principles of student discourse and visible thinking remain the same.
>> [clears throat] >> Hearing none, all those in favor signify by saying aye. Aye. Opposed, same sign. Motion carries. 8.8 maternity leave request 26-27 school year at McConnell High School. Yeah, we checked the water tower. There's something in the water we think. Another maternity leave request at the high school. Ask for your approval as presented. [clears throat] Entertain a motion to approve item 8.8. So moved. Second? I second. Questions, comments?
Yeah, I wanted to clarify. Allison asked, but um too on the on the digital screen, we when we asked for the bids, we got two different sizes that we were considering. Um we're not doing both. It's going to be the 7 by 12 was what we decided on, but we just wanted when we asked for those bids as as a rough neck reinforcer organization. So on that bin sheet, it's not both of those screens. It's only the 7 by 12. and they said that um that's probably about 3 months out, but um we would make sure if you guys accept that or if we accept that um the same people who are going to be doing all the electrical work and the conduit and everything for the shop clocks, we would put this up at the same time so that it could all be >> painted while we're repainting the gym too and everything.
>> I made it work. >> You made it work. That's awesome. >> One second. You ready? You're ready. What's up, guys? >> Hello. >> Hi. >> Can we get your name? >> Yasmina. >> Lillian. >> Okay. Now, guys, do you have any friends in tonight's film festival? >> Yes. My friend Sophia, her film is in it, so I'm very excited to see that one. >> Awesome. Thank you for supporting them. So, have you guys been to a film festival before? >> Yes, I went to last year's >> Lillian. >> Um, no. >> All right. First time. Well, there's a lot in store. You You are not going to regret coming. You're going to come next year and the year after that, year after that, and you're in the senior home. You're going to want to keep coming. That's how good these films are, guys. >> Okay.
Very good. So remember, you are responsible for checking yourself around the norms, but also in helping your neighbor if they are struggling with meeting one of the norms. So we can gently remind folks if they are not following one of the norms to make sure that they uh re-engage. Um, as Mr. man shared a little bit. The governing board seems to be pleased with what they've uh learned so far about the work that you all have done. Remember that um especially today when we are especially every day, but when we talk about compensation because this is always one that can feel a little touchy sometimes that you're keeping these guiding principles in mind. So, alignment with student outcome focused governance goals. Um, sustainable salary for all staff, sustainable health care benefits, and I think we've uh already moved on on that one. Explore revenue generation options and adhering to budgetary recommendations.
