>> That was a very smooth swing right there. >> Was smooth. Really, >> really good hit down the line there. >> So, here comes the pitcher. >> Bats lefty, throws righty. Cooper McFarland. Back to first base goes It's >> another throw over there. >> Ratica likes to keep an eye on his runners. It's one thing you notice when you watch him pitch. Hard pitcher to steal off of. >> First pitch to McFarland. Runners going. Posala's throw is high and a good backup there by Clark. But a stolen base for Lucas Culie. >> No balls, one strike for >> other way around. Other way around. One ball. One ball. No strikes. They called that pitch high there. He tries to bunt it. Popped up. Posala makes the catch. >> Great awareness. So, a failed bunt. >> Second time they failed to bunt in this one. >> So, now there's two outs.
She has 20 RBI in this young season right now. >> Tough. No wonder she's in the three spot, right? Yeah, she is in the three spot. Bella Domestico bats second. Uh the pitching sensation so far for the Clockers has had a solid bat. Uh she herself is uh hitting right now at a nice 393 clip and hopefully they'll get Caroline Kyra to the plate who is batting 571. So, uh Eustace getting ready to lead off here against uh Emily Ruiz who is on the mound today for the Titans. Ruiz comes into the game at one and two. She has 20 strikeouts on the year and she has an ERA of 5.6. Uh so, Ruiz does find the plate. She she does have some strikeouts. Um and let's see if the Clockers can can get after her a little bit today. Sounds good to me. I you know, Nico leading off here certainly saw a lot of her during volleyball back over the winter one of the stars of that team.
Striber has been hit three times this season. So Ashlin loves getting hit by the pitch. He's got a runner in scoring position. One out. Here comes the one as McFarland will step off. Larose dancing back there. >> Trying to get in the pitcher's head. >> Here's the one. It's a ground ball pass the third baseman down the line. Laro is coming home to score. Shriber's on his way to second. It is not in time. An RBI double and Ashland takes the lead. >> Good hit by by Michael Shriber right down the line. Third base side. Can't beat it. >> His second double of the season. So he'll take Larose place there at second. Finn Conry will dig in. 368 for Conry. There's the first pitch and that's upstairs. >> So, quick start for Ashland. >> Here's the one out. That's a cold strike. Big spot here to try to make it hurt.
Owen Harrington digs in. >> Great job by Posa to rip the mask off there. Make the catch as Bradica steps off. Brad Kick keeping a real good eye on the runners, making sure they don't do anything. >> Here's the pitch. Swing and a miss. Strike one to Harrington. >> That looked like a kind of a half-hearted swing from the batter. >> Yeah, I'm going to lie. >> As Bradica will take another look at the runner at second. Runner on second. Two outs. 01 to Harrington. Here it comes. That's strike two. And he's quickly ahead. Nothing and two. 02 from Bradica >> in the dirt, but a good block from Posaqua >> 02. That's a strike. >> Three. >> Got him looking and a couple strikeouts and a scoreless second for Bradica. >> He leaves a man at second. And we head to the bottom of the second.
Basketball, my friend. Basketball. Nico is the starting point guard on the basketball team, Josh. Uh yeah, Tri-Valley League All-Star I believe for the for basketball. One of the best defenders in the Tri-Valley League. Nico has great wheels and she she facilitates the offense for the Clockers and let's see if she can get things facilitated now in the lead-off spot. Ruiz sets, throws high to Eustace. One thing you don't want to do is get Nico on base by a walk. That's kind of a true axiom across baseball, right? You never want to walk the lead-off hitter but especially true here with Nico. Nico does her typical hard line drive to left. Great way to start for Eustace. Hits a hot shot to left field and she is on base after two pitches. That brings up Domestico to the plate. Domestico checks signs from coach Larry Sasso over at third base.
>> Try to get a couple runs in early going. That one is grounded foul down the first baseline and the count's one and two. [screaming] >> So one and two count to Finn Connory. Shriber on second. Here it comes. >> That's a line drive into center. A base hit. Shriber gets the wave. He's coming home. The ball is bobbled out there in center. An RBI single for Finn Conry. And Ashland is up two nothing. >> Good spot here for the Ashlin Cockers right right away right off the bat. You know, >> Connor drives home his team leading seventh RBI of the season. >> The sophomore. Here's Jake Lame. First pitch. That one bounces kept in front by Johansson. It's ball one. Lame batting 438. Seven for 16. >> He's driven home five runs on the season. Here's the one out. Another one bounced. That one is going to get by.
Two nothing Ashland. So, Cooper McFarland will come on for his second inning of work. Gave up a couple runs in the first and Mark Mermlstein be the first to greet him. He's only had five at bats this season. He's one for five. Drove home a run. pitchers looking to bounce back after that big inning from the clockers. >> His team did not help him with any scoring in the second. >> 31 pitch first inning for McFarland. They look to have a quick one here. First pitch to Mark is in the dirt. It'll be Merrmlstein, Clark, and Turncliffe. The bottom third >> of this clocker lineup. >> And it's two and0. >> Really struggling with the command right now. >> Yeah, seems to be all over the place. >> Two swing and a miss. Try to swing for the fences there. Came up empty. Two balls and a strike to Mermlstein.
We should be looking for Nico to run early here. It's a hot shot down the third baseline. Ground ball into left field. Nico is going to try and score No, Nico stops at third. Bella moves the runner over. First pitch swinging aggressively. Bella with a nice hot ground ball past the third baseman. Eustace on her horse over to third. And that brings up RBI machine Ava Vendetti. Hey, first and third nobody out. Really good opportunity here for Vendetti. Vendetti ground ball misplaced misplaced by the shortstop. She's able to reach on the error by Valerie Lamont who couldn't handle that one cleanly. So, we we've got a run scored as Eustace comes in. Domestico over to second bringing up Caroline Kyra with runners on first and second. So, does that count as an RBI for Vendetti on the error? I do not believe it does. Um I'll have to check the official scoring but we do have a courtesy runner here for the catcher.
>> And Conry is going to get there on a pass ball. >> It seems like McFarland's just a little wild here. >> Yeah, command is not great right now, but >> it's only got one out. 23 pitches, >> two balls, no strikes. Lame into right. And the catch is made there. >> And Connory will hold at second. >> So that's out number two. >> Ian McCoy will dig in. >> 235 on the season for McCoy. >> He's got two outs and a runner at second. Here's the first pitch. >> That one just misses. >> Umpire there with another questionable call. Um >> I don't know about that one. >> It's close. >> Here's the one out. Ah, it's a strike. So, one ball and one strike now. And McFarland will throw back to second. Conrey's back in there. >> So ball and a strike on McCoy.
>> Foul tips that one back into the mitt and it's two and two. >> Comes a two- two. >> That's outside. Count is full. >> Good eye by Mark there. Not trying to chase anything. Here comes the 3-2. Chops that one to first. The pitcher tries to go get it and the toss is in time. Very nice play there by the first baseman Harrington. The pitcher got to the bag to cover. So Mark Merlene's out number one. Grady Clark digs in. 227 on the season so far for Clark. First pitch is a strike. >> Nothing in one. And it's quickly nothing and two. So Clark will need to battle here. Nothing at two. Here it comes. >> Just missed. Almost had a three- pitch strikeout. >> The umpire keeping on with the questionable calls there. >> Yeah, they're awfully close. >> Clark will be in a one-two hole and it's even at two.
Interesting rule in high school softball. You get a courtesy runner that can re-enter throughout the game. So, it not quite sure who that is. I can't see her number just yet but Kyra takes >> Number four? Kyra takes ball one high. Yeah, number four looks like it's a call up for um the Clockers. Kyra takes ball two. She has a discerning eye up there. Uh doesn't walk a lot. Has five walks on the season but does typically only swing at good pitches. Let's see what she can do. Kyra hot shot to the shortstop but she gets a fielder's choice reaches on a fielder's choice there. Unfortunately, couldn't put that one past the shortstop who makes a nice play getting Domestico out on the 6-5 at third. Vendetti moves to second. This brings up Haley Butera man. Sophomore second baseman. Butera man takes ball one outside.
Here comes >> at strike two at the knees. >> One ball, two strikes. Ground ball foul. >> Cloggers keep on working the pitch count up here. >> Yeah. 27 pitches for McFarland. 28 pitches, sorry. So, a long first inning, but he can limit it to just two runs. Here it comes. That one's in the dirt. A good stop by Johansson. >> So, two balls and two strikes to McCoy. 2-2 >> just missed full count. >> McCoy leads the team in walks. He's got 10 of them on the season. >> Waits on deck. 3-2 outs. >> It's a ground ball to second. >> Second. >> Kulie's got it and the throw to first is in time. to end the first inning. But Ashland scores two and they lead two nothing. So the catcher Mikey Johansson will lead it off against Spatica here. Got a one, two, three first inning.
Call goes his way and now he's back in the count. >> Here's the 2- two >> way upstairs. Full count. So from 0 and2 to three and two for Clark. >> Very good AB right here from Clark. >> Full count. Ground ball chopped to second. charges and that's out number two. So back-to-back ground outs to the right side of the infield for the Clockers >> and a good bounce back so far for McFarland. And now he'll face the number nine hitter Austin Turnliffe. >> 263. >> He's got five hits. He's driven in five runs. He's also scored five times. Seems to like that number. >> Two outs, no one aboard. >> That's a high strike. seems to like the high strikes. It's been hitters have to adjust. >> Here's the 01. >> That one hit him. >> Turniff has drilled. It's the first time he's been hit this season.
Mike, I tend to noticing here so far with the Clockers is they are swinging early. Yeah, the Clockers are aggressive. Butera man again to the shortstop doesn't not handle it and we have runners everywhere taking advantage of another error. Uh she's been busy over there. Now the bases are loaded. So, two errors this inning from shortstop Valerie Lamont leads to the Clockers with the bases loaded and one out. And this brings up Maddie Sanders who's playing shortstop today. Uh we've got Sierra Mullins who is running for Vendetti. She's at third. Kyra's at second. Butera man at first. Maddie Sanders takes a look here. She ground ball to third. They get the force at home. Fielder's choice for Sanders. So, the Clockers are putting the bat on the ball early. Not able to uh get many runs just yet. The Sophie Conners uh stepping up to the plate here.
Bradica looking to um >> uh take advantage of that one, two, three inning, keep the pitch count low and hopefully get them back in the dugout as soon as possible. >> Y >> eight pitches in that first inning. >> Didn't strike anyone out, but we contact and that one's upstairs. Here's the pitch. It's felt straight back. [laughter] Makes you flinch. So, a ball and a strike here to Johansson. >> Here comes the 1-1. That's another foul ball. So, one ball and two strikes. Both of these teams played yesterday. Ashlin won 10 to1 against Hopedale and a loss for Wayland against Medway 12-1. It's a shot down the line, but it's foul. So >> ball and two strikes. >> Here comes swing and a miss. >> Strike three. >> He went way upstairs with that fast ball. First strike out for Bradica. And out number one.
So that'll bring up the top of the lineup again. And Ollie Laro will dig in. He walked his first time up. So started off as a clean inning for McFarland, but a two out hit by pitch will continue the inning for the clockers. First pitch to Laro. It's a fly ball into right center. Who wants it? A right fielder will call it off and Dannion makes the play to end the second. The clockers go quietly and they leave a man at first after two. Two nothing. So Chris Bradica back on the mound for his third inning of work. Two scoreless so far. Struck out a couple last inning. What have you thought of him so far? Mitch >> Brada is doing super well. I mean commanding the zone in every good way possible. So, he's going to look to keep on doing that and keep on making the batters.
Sophie making her varsity debut at third base batting seventh. So, bases remain loaded but now with two outs. In the dirt for a ball one and oh. Yeah, Sophie in a tough spot here for her first varsity at bat with the bases loaded two outs in the first inning. She fouls one back. Solid swing. It'd be a shame if we can't put one another one across here. Uh we've got the bases juiced with Kyra, Butera man and Sanders. Sophie puts one into the outfield right to the center fielder. She gets a nice little piece on it. Flies out to center. Unfortunately, the Clockers can only put one across on two hits and they leave three runners on base and there were three errors that inning for the Titans and it's just too bad that Ashland couldn't take advantage uh of the errors. Absolutely. I mean, they had they had the bases loaded multiple times, runners all over the place, did great job putting the ball in play, but just could not take advantage of those three errors, those three gifts from the Titans.
>> Lucas Kulie will dig in. second baseman today. He takes ball. >> One out. Swing and a miss. He was way late on that fast ball. So 1-1 count from Bradica. It's a shot into center field and it drops for a base hit. It's down in front of McCoy. So the first hit against Bradica along Lucas Culie >> and a one out single here for Whan. [screaming] Hard pitcher to steal off of. >> First pitch to McFarland. Runners going. Posala's throw is high and a good backup there by Clark.
You know, >> in terms of commanding the zone, he's only thrown 22 pitches through two scoreless innings. >> So, look to continue that. He'll face the right fielder as that one's upstairs. It's Nico Durantian. So 8 n and one here for the Warriors in their half of the third. >> Here's the one out. >> That's outside. So two balls and no strikes >> 2-1. That's outside or sorry, 20 is at upstairs. So, three balls and no strikes. Might have jinxed him here. Not commanding the zone in this first at bat. >> It's a four pitch walk to lead off the inning. >> Apologize for the jinx there. Right. >> Yeah. If Chris Ba's family sees this, I'm I'm sorry for what I said. We'll see if he can mouse back. >> Noah Horn the DH will bat here. >> Shows B. >> Takes it back.
So, uh Clockers have to settle for a one-nothing lead after one. Yeah, and I do think that these Clockers bats will be getting going. They made They made pretty good contact. Uh got to put the ball in the air. Obviously, the shortstops saw a lot of action there and they reached on a couple of fielder's choices, but not the typical hitting that we see out of this Ashland team. Um so, we we we want to keep our eye on that. Don't know what kind of spin Emily Ruiz might be putting on that ball. Mhm. Well, you know, it's interesting you would said at the outset, right, that Bella is always around the plate, throws a lot of strikes and we were seeing that from Ruiz as well. Uh not deep counts. I mean, it's a pretty low pitch count, though she did see a lot of hitters there in the first inning.
