It it is a They've become a team with a much better softball IQ than they've had over the course of the last couple years and I think that a lot has to do with Coach Sasso and the way he approaches the game. I mean, one thing that I think is really been evident, this is a different environment for these girls. It's always positive. He just preaches positivity uh and you can see it in the way they are in the dugout, in the way they are as a team. It's a completely different regime here with Larry in charge and um the girls have benefited from him his leadership. Yeah, he's had a long career coaching at every level from Little League all the way up through college and uh now it's the Ashland girls that are benefiting from his tutelage. And this brings up Rebecca Kriegsman, who is a senior tri-captain today playing left field.
They haven't done so successfully today. >> You don't want to bunt with two strikes, >> so I'll have to swing away here. Nothing and two from Bradica. >> Swing and a miss. >> Threw the fast ball right by him. Third strike out of the afternoon for Bradica. >> Off to a very good start. >> The top of the lineup. It's back up here for Whan. Artonian will bat. He's 0 for one. First pitch from Bradica. Swing and a miss. Nothing and one. >> That's outside. >> Ball and one strike. >> That looked right on the line to me from back here. So, >> one ball, one strike. That's upstairs. Two balls in a strike. >> Comes a two-1 from Bradica. Runner goes Posal Aqua. Throw to third is high and it's into left field. Good cut off from Shriber though. >> Runner stays at third.
Top of the fourth inning. Getting ready to start here. Bratica will be back on the mound here. >> So, Alvin Valdez will lead off. >> He was in the middle of his at bat back in the third when they caught the runner at Breastler ceiling at second. >> So, he'll get a fresh count here. >> Baratica looks to keep the lead for Ashland. Comes the first pitch. >> It's a line drive into right field. Turniff on his horse and he'll get there. >> Nice play from Austin Turniff. One pitch, one out for Gratica. >> That was a deep line drive, >> but >> Ashland's outfield has been good. >> Yeah, Turnliff able to make the play there. So, >> he'll take those one pitch outs for sure. The catcher Mikey Johansson will dig in. >> Zof with a strike out and he'll take a pitch a little inside for strike one.
She gets ahead of the count 1-0. And she takes ball two. Uh Rebecca is a tremendous contact hitter. She puts her bat on the ball consistently. Uh it's one of my favorite things about her uh besides the fact that she is just an all-around tremendous young woman, a MIAA uh student leader at the state level. Uh she represents Ashland very well and she'll be um playing golf in college next year, Josh. >> Is that right? Where is she going to be going to school? I believe she's going to be going to Colby. I'm not positive on that. I probably have to get get a fact check on that one. >> Sorry to put you on the spot with that, Mike. It could be Bates, actually. It might be Bates. It's one of those wonderful schools, that's for sure. And she lines one right back to the pitcher, puts the wheels on and is just not able to get it.
Dannian couldn't get up there from third and score. >> Oh, they're going to say there might have been some interference. They're going to let him score. >> Coach Messer wants to know what up. >> I think he said that Finn Conry blocked the runner from getting up from third base >> and giving him the chance to score. Coach Messer believes that there was catcher interference with the batter not giving Posal Aqua a good throwing lane to third base. >> But nonetheless, >> Whan cuts into the lead. It's two to one. Two balls and two strikes. >> Here it comes. >> That's a fly ball popped into shallow right. The second baseman comes out, but Turniff makes the catch and right. Bradica gets out number two. >> George Breler, the second baseman or sorry, the third baseman. We'll >> bat here. Two outs. Base is empty.
He didn't seem very happy with that one. >> Yeah, I wouldn't be either. >> Nothing in one. It's a fly ball into deep left center field. McCloin on his horse. He's not going to get there. And one hops in front of the fence and a good job by McCoy to get it in quickly, but a one out double for Mikey Johansson. And Whan has another runner in scoring position here. >> All right. >> Yeah, I was just about to try to get you some feedback. So, >> what she's doing good. What she what what I needed to do is like when she goes out, >> you'll notice let's let's watch a little bit. when she goes out to the field, as soon as they make the catch or whatever, she starts darting back. >> Okay. >> And it's like Lucas will dig in >> on that player because I'll cut like I I like I don't like it when she's in other words, they catch it and immediately she starts paying back left like way too fast.
Hard hot shot back at Emily Ruiz, who makes a nice play to come back and get a speedy Kriegsman by a step at first base. Good sting by Rebecca there though. Absolutely. Just a bang-bang play at first and credit Ruiz. I mean, that you know, see your life flash before your eyes when hit that hard right back at you that hard. Taylor Krotch puts a shot into one right at the center fielder. Uh Krotch is also another kid who's been swinging the ball much swinging the bat much better these past couple games, was the tough luck recipient there of a good shot to center, but she flied out. And this brings up Nicolette Eustace, who is one for one. Eustace down the third baseline. See if she can get two here. Nico can always stretch a single into a double. Hot shot for Eustace, who is two for two for the day with the single and a double.
>> It's a fly ball down the right field line and it's heading into foul territory. >> George, you got this. >> It's nothing and one. I'm thinking and one from Bradica. >> That's upstairs. >> Thought that one was close. >> Yeah, I did. >> Unfortunately, in high school, the umpires aren't always the most accurate as that one's into center field for a base hit. >> Almost took the head off Bradica. It's >> another base runner here for Whan with two outs. >> That'll bring in Alvin Valdez. >> He's 0 for one so far this afternoon. >> Looking to take advantage of the two out hit there. >> Bradica looking to get out of this inning here. He'll check on the runner at first. Again, >> it's not like the MLB where you only have two throws. Bradica uses as many as he can. Try to keep that runner at first.
So like just if you follow action, she's doing good in the infield. But if they catch or something and she's out there, just just stay on that player. Yeah. Don't worry about it. And follow them and gently start to go back. But I'd rather have her just wait. let the player throw it back in and then I'll cut to here and then you can move back. You know what that makes? >> That's just all it is. >> That's just a very minor thing, but stay on the action there and then go back slow after the play's completely done. >> That's in the dirt. It gets away. The runner will take off and head to third. Bradica is not necessarily struggling with the command here, but seems like it in this at bat. So, and they'll send the infield in here. >> It's a two- count to Lucas Culie.
And here comes Bella Domestico. Domestico hit a similar shot uh in the first inning down the third baseline as the one Nico just hit there. Yeah, it's the second one the Clockers were able to sneak down the uh left field line. And Nico did a great job reading uh the left fielder struggled with the ball a little bit, little bit of a bobble and Nico slowed a little bit coming around first, picked up the outfielder and wisely took second. Which she can do pretty easily here. Bella fouls the first one back, down 0-1, takes the next pitch high for ball one. Uh don't be shocked here if you do see Nico try to take a shot um especially with a lefty catcher in a righty batter here trying to take third. Bella, hot shot to third. She bobbles it. But she is able to stay under control, makes a really nice play there getting Domestico 5-3.
And third time he'll throw over. Wrestler doesn't look too happy about it over there at first base. not able to get much of a lead. >> Lefties have some can have very good pickoff moves. >> Bria steps off the pitchers. >> And Valdez is continuing to wait on his first pitch. He'll get it here. And it's strike one. Good fast ball there. Bradica continuing to >> pound the zone right there. >> Comes the 01. That's a foul ball. Brad had nothing in two. >> Always good to be ahead of the count. You can throw anything here to >> Exactly. >> catch the batter. See what we He gives Valdez here. Runner goes pitches high. Throw to second is in time. A great throw from Pasa Aqua and Breastler is gunned down at second. So the top of the third is over, but Whan cuts into the lead.
200 swing and a miss. Foul tip that one. >> Two and one for Bratica at strike two. Big spot for a strike out here. >> 2-2 popped up behind the infield. Shriber goes out >> and he makes the catch. A great job by Shriber to get out there from shortstop. >> That's out number two. That's a big out there. >> Brada is now going to look to take advantage of that good out right there. >> Pitcher McFarland will dig in. >> He's 0 for one. First pitch is a strike. >> Nasty breaking ball by Chris there. >> And ahead in the count here. >> 1-1. That's strike two. >> Sorry. It's now 0 and two. Chance to get out of this inning. Scoreless. Leave a runner 90 ft away. >> Nothing at two. >> Pop out and it'll head out of play. >> Count say zone two.
No runs in that bottom of the second inning off of one hit, the double by Eustace. One runner is left on base. A clean inning there for the Titans. Uh we've got a close game, a pitcher's duel like we thought we might have here uh in Ashland. 1-2 nothing right now after two. Absolutely, Mike. And just a tale of two cities there defensively for the Titans. I mean the first inning three errors in the first, but a couple of terrific defensive plays in the second. Setting the Clockers down not 1-2-3 but pretty close. Yeah, they they were able to to make a couple plays. That was a hot shot back to the pitcher by Kriegsman. More of a protect yourself kind of play. And and she ends up gathering herself and and Reese is able to get the out. Um 8-9-1 here coming up for the Titans as we are going to see Isabella Dallas, the left fielder.
It's two to one. It's raining. So, Cooper McFarland will come on for his third inning of work Here it'll be Bradica, Shriber, and Conry. >> McFarland looking to kind of tone down his uh pitching command and make it harder for the clockers to get to him. >> So, Cooper McFarland will come on for his third inning here. A scoreless second inning. >> Bradic is 0 for one so far this afternoon. >> And he's ready for the first pitch from McFarland. Here it comes. >> It's a ground ball to second. Scooped up there by and is one away. >> So, one pitch, one out for McFarland. >> Striber steps in. >> Shriber's one for one with that RBI double back in the first. >> Got the scoring started. >> First pitch >> inside. Dustin off the plate there. That's a strike. So, a ball and a strike here.
Still nothing in two here. Here comes swing and a miss. Foul tipped into the mitt and Bratica gets out of the inning. Leaves a runner at third. Middle of the fourth. Two to1 Ashland. chance to get out of this inning. >> Scoreless. >> No, you're good. I was just I didn't I didn't know if you were like >> We can hear everything. We can hear the broadcast going. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No, you're good. >> Oh, yeah. Yeah. >> All right. >> Don't say no. I'm not Alex, though. >> You know my name. >> Yo, Jojo. He's Jojo now. Bottom of the fourth inning back out to the mound and he'll face Jake to lead it off. >> Five, six, and seven of the Ashland lineup. >> Bottom of the fourth inning and the first pitch to Jake Lame is down. >> May lined out to write his first time up.
Delaney Walker who's been not too busy yet out in right. And then Valerie Lamont will come to the plate for her second at bat of the game. Yeah, her Walker's sister Maeve in center field been a little bit busy. A couple of putouts out there. And I'll tell you that second one I don't think she even had to move for it. Just say a credit the scouting on that one. It's it right to her. Yeah, it was a good good piece of hitting by Taylor on that one. Unfortunately, it was right at her. We got a great crowd here at Hunt Field today uh to support the Clockers. And Domestico toes the rubber. Shows bunt. Vendetti hops, but that ball is going to go foul. Vendetti an excellent defensive catcher as well as a good hitter. Um I I think that bunting on her might be a mistake.
>> Farland has thrown 49 pitches so far. >> A quick first out in this inning. Now, >> here's the 1-1. >> That's strike two and he's ahead of Shrivever. One and two. Here comes the one two. >> That's upstairs. >> You never know. >> Two balls, two strikes to Shriber. >> That's a hard grounder to shortstop. And it's scooped up by Fay. And a nice scoop there at first by Harrington. And there's two quick outs here. >> Finn Conry digs in. >> It's one for one with an RBI single back in the first. Ashlin not as patient so far here in the third. >> First pitch. That's a strike. >> Ashland trying to avoid a one, two, three, third. Here comes the one. It's a ground ball to second. Kulie is there for it. And his throw to first is in time. And a wicked fast inning for McFarland.
And McFarland's on for his fourth inning of work here. >> Here's the 10. Ground ball to shortstop. Fay makes the play and a throw is in time. A nice sharp throw to first and Lame is out number one. Ian Mccoin will bat with one away. 0 for one and he'll take a strike. >> That That was a nasty breaking ball by McFarland. >> Nothing and one here. just missed. Ball on a strike. >> Was a close one. >> Yep. >> Another close call by the umpire. >> One-1. It's a sharp grounder. Oh, what a play by And he gets up and throws it to first. A sharp ground ball there. >> That was a very nice play by >> And another quick two outs for McFarland. He seems to be cruising since that first inning. Looking for his third straight scoreless. >> Sets the plate.
She has a She has a pretty good glove. She's quick to the ball. Let's see what happens here. Ground ball to third. Sophie Connors, nice and easy. Great play across the diamond. 5-3 to get Isabella Davis. Solid play by Sophie. Yeah, really interesting there, Mike. The bunt attempt on the first pitch pulled the third baseman in. And on the subsequent pitch ground ball right to her. Easy play to first. Yeah, and Sophie made a nice play there getting the ball out of her glove nice and quick. We got another lefty coming up here, number one Delaney Walker, the right fielder. Here's the pitch. She also shows bunt, fouls it back. She's going to fall behind 0-1 to Domestico. Uh perhaps um coach Kristen Morcone is trying to get a little something going here with the bottom of the order trying to flip it to the top with some bunts.
He gets the clockers one, two, three. So we head to the fourth. It's two to one. Sounds great, guys. Yep. I even think I got the stream going right now. Really? >> Yeah, we're streaming. We are. Looks pretty good. Yep. Sounds great. Good job. >> Working good, my man. >> Yeah, this guy's good. He's good. Come on. Top of the fourth inning getting ready to start here. Bratica will be back on the mound here. >> So, Alvin Valdez will lead off. >> He was in the middle of his at bat back in the third when they caught the runner at Breastler ceiling at second. So, he'll get a fresh count here. Bradica looks to keep the lead for Ashland. >> Comes the first pitch. >> It's a line drive into right field. Turniff on his horse and he'll get there. >> Nice play from Austin Turnliffe.
