Uh, so can CN wait a year to consolidate? Yes. Our operations budgets will be tight for all buildings with this option, but it is doable. Um, I'm also learning more and exploring more about Senate Enrolled Act 1210. This would allow schools to take some of the Senate Bill 1 losses from our debt service fund. I'm looking at historical data for Central Noble to see where Central Noble's comfort level is to you know, how how much we would feel comfortable taking out of there. Um, you have to have a bit of a cushion because if the county doesn't get all the money that they're anticipating, all of our all of our revenues from property taxes are just their best guess. If they don't get all of that money, someone doesn't pay their property taxes or they pay it late. And if they don't have the money to give, they can't give it to us.
We have teams at three different levels and our intermediate team consisting of five of our sophomores uh wanted taking third place in the state at this year's competition. So, we wanted to congratulate them for the job they did. >> And then the the club as a whole competed at the state competition as well and had several places in the top five, but also had several individual ones. Luke, how many individual first places did we have this year? 11. How many in the top five did we have, Asher? Maybe one. How many of you had a first place award this year? Look at that. Congratulations. We had 15 young people go with us this year. A lot of them are doing other things tonight like this band rehearsal. So, um they couldn't be with us tonight cuz they're busy kids, which is a good thing. And some of them are studying for their upcoming AP tests.
Um but what stands out the most is her commitment to telling the truth. No matter the situation, even when it would be easier not to. Joanna consistently chooses to be honest and take responsibility for her actions, and that says a lot about her character and the young lady that she's becoming. Um she's worked hard on our star behaviors this year, and her honesty has been a big part of that growth. We're really proud of her, and that is why she was selected as Redpath's student of the month. Congratulations, Joanna. >> [applause] >> So, it's my pleasure to introduce our student of the month for April, McKinley Horan. Mrs. Wolfe is her teacher, wasn't able to be here, but she did send these words. Recognizing McKinley for the honesty character trait was an easy choice. McKinley is the kind student who does the right thing without being asked and without needing recognition for it.
Certainly would be willing to take any questions or additional things that you might have. Board information wise this is an action item on the MOU and I know you've been prepped on that from the work session, but Mr.
Her intentional routines, positive relationships, and calm leadership create a strong learning community. As a reliable and supportive colleague and reflective practitioner, she shares resources, models problem-solving, and mentors both scholars and her peers. She's also been recognized as a Teacher of the Year nominee. We are honored to present Deja Joiner with the Above and Beyond Award. Congratulations. >> [applause] [applause] >> And next to present some very important elementary awards, we have Dr. Emily Hass Brown, Assistant Superintendent of Elementary. Thank you, Ms. Johnson. Good evening, President Norman, Dr. Smith, members of the board. I'm so pleased to bring to you some elementary winners tonight. And for the a very amazing feat, we have one school that won both the girls and boys basketball championship. And that proud principal is here to introduce you to those students, and that is Dr. Carl Blythe from Mary Castle Elementary. >> [applause] >> Good evening.
Our defense are going to be pressured. We have one of the top goalies in TL TV TvL. It's right over here. Who's going to win these faceoffs over here? That's definitely hands down the keys for today. If we can control the uh the faceoffs, we have a really good shot. Not only being competitive, but uh potentially taking this huge win against the Wolverines. Again, a very highpowered offensive team. Five and three coming in. Good defense over there by the uh by Ashlin Westwood kicking it out over here. It's number 14 on Westwood. So for the Westwood families, I'll do my best to pronounce the names. It's kind of tough to see some of the jersey numbers with the sun, but we'll do our best over there. That's a quick goal by I think that's Yeah, tough to tell who scored the goal on Westwood. Two nothing Westwood starting off over here.
>> To fast [snorts] shooting Fowler. All right, goes behind the net Hartnett to Cavaliero. Cavaliero right up to Olson. Olson like swim move there, spinning. Passes to Fowler and oh, Fowler just I don't know if that got deflected, Cam, did it? I'm not sure, but but Bellingham had a good little >> defensive effort right there. >> Yeah, Hartnett trying to bring it up. Looking around, nice centering pass and what a goal from Atwood. >> Yeah, nice nice little pass to find him in the open to give him that room to shoot. >> Yeah, great pass by Hartnett. That's one that Bellingham will take note. You don't want to let him just have the shot right there. No, it's going to be a long day if you like >> There's a lot of Raiders though that you can't give that shot to. So, it's just one of the many right there.
>> Doubles up quickly. Two nothing. 930 left to go in the first quarter. >> And Whitler back up on the draw. >> Whitler directing traffic where she wants her to go. >> Oh, it's loose. Hampton comes up with the ball. They get it over. Good job by Emma Crimson coming to steal that ball away. Criminals looking to >> quickly making the ball up. Getting the ball over the restraining line. Setting up the East L offense. >> The pelleter throws one away as Whitward comes up with the ball. Good job by Matt come up with that. >> Going through two girls and has one more. Goes by her turns around. Matt Whitler turns around takes a shot just wide. Jame there to back it up. With the ball over to goes around. Nothing there. Keeps going around. Still nothing there. Gets the wall knocked away. M get a 12 meter.
Any questions on any of those? Uh, Miss Martell, you're going to tell us about budget transfers, please. >> Okay. The first budget transfer was for athletics to cover some expenses for nationals. The second one was to cover some unexpected uh invoices for snow plowing. We had a budget adjustment to cover invoices for electrical and fire equipment. That was facilities also. I was asked to do an interdep department adjustment to cover some CTE assessments and then um Cosmo had some end of the year supplies that they wanted to purchase. So they asked for an interdep department budget transfer also. And then the last one is again for facilities for additional funding for invoices that they had from February to April and it was for snow removal again. >> Thank you. I'm going to get a vote on that. Please can I get a motion to approve the budget transfers as presented?
I urge the board to make this an advisory committee. This group should meet as often and as long as necessary to meet the needs of our unique learners. A committee with long-term consistent partnership can drive systematic improvement with within special education. We have a wealth of educators, parents, and professionals ready to provide feedback. This is not the time to be slowed down by administrative hesitation. While we must follow Robert's Rules and FOI to remain transparent, these logistics should support, not hinder, our progress. This is about getting the right stakeholders together to make positive changes. Brookfield Special Education Department needs improvement, and our students cannot wait any longer for meaningful change. Please, let's get to work. Thank you. >> Thank you. Mark. >> Good evening, sir. All right. Mark Moorash, 25 Misty Knoll Drive, Brookfield. Having a voice and having a say are Oh my gosh, hang on a second.
So, we're finishing wrapping up those activities, and we'll have a presentation for you next month, and for the last presentation in June. >> All right, thank you very much. Incredible stuff. Great job. Um I don't want to steal any of the uh board members' thunder about what what occurred this past month, so I'll let them do it, but we had some really really great uh events that occurred this month, so I'm sure we'll hear about them at the end. Um and we continue now to move into academic honors season and sports honors and now teacher honors and power professional of the year honors. So, that's why we're here tonight. So, let's start uh without further ado um with the ECLC. Dr. Grillo, are you here? Here she is, Dr. Grillo. >> [applause] >> Thank you. Good evening, everyone. Mrs. Donna Bolcar is a power professional at the James A.
So, I come here today to make sure our voices are heard and that these accommodations stop being stripped away from our students. While these classes are not exclusively for students suffering from learning impacting conditions, they benefit these students benefit the most from these classes being offered. That is why it is such a matter to us students, right? Alongside the the names of the people who have signed the petition, I provided a page of comments that people left on our petition page. These should uh be included with different students here at Oswego East and Oswego High School. I also added a list of resources I used um and and a little explanation of why I think they're relevant. However, unfortunately, the recent decision for the district's following school year to strip away access to most online courses as an initial course credit is a step backward for inclusivity and educational equity.
She is quick to respond to calls for help, and even assists at lunch, at recess, and in the car line. Her calm and nurturing demeanor allows her to work through situations with compassion. As shared by a co-worker, "I have learned a lot from her and appreciate everything she has done. Heather is truly one of a kind and deserves this." Congratulations, Heather. And Lori Zilke Lori has dedicated several several years to serving students as a school social worker in School District 308. Her empathy, kindness, and support has allowed her to touch the lives of many students and staff members. Her role in bridging connections between school, home, and community helps promote student success. A fellow staff member shared, "I know all of our students, current and past, have been so incredibly blessed to have met and worked with her." Congratulations, Lori. All right, at this time, we invite Ms.
Um, and Julie, I'm nominating you as president this year because we have a full admin turnover next year. And I think one of the best things the board can do to support our new administration is to give them your wealth of knowledge as their point of contact. You have served on this board for a very long time. And there is no one better to be this transition person than you. I think. Okay. For the nomination election of vice president, I now ask for nominations for the office of vice president. >> I would like to nominate Melinda Hartman for vice president. Not any other nominations. Not hearing any other nominations. Um Melinda Hartman is now the vice president. Uh what? Okay. Um what is the next one? Then uh ne next nomination is for secretary. That's what I'm sorry about this people. Okay. Okay. I now ask for nominations for the office of secretary.
So I'm going to start with Camden. And Camden scored a perfect score on his math checkpoints. And so that that's definitely round of applause worthy. >> [applause] >> Okay, and so I'm going to I'm going to go off memory here. When I asked Camden, he's not just knows in the book kind of guy. Cross country, basketball, track, third chair violin, and NJHS member as well. So super well-rounded awesome kid at North and great family, too. And good news, his brother is going to be at North next year. And his brother already told me he's a much better basketball player. >> [laughter] >> Uh Camden did not did not want to make a speech today. Okay, and then I have Samantha Grammer. Oh sorry, Camden I've got something to read from you from your um from your geometry teacher, Mr. Keller. Camden is an absolute pleasure to have in class and makes a positive impact on the the math classroom every day.
Brainham's here. Please come on up and share the good news about these uh incredibly talented young students at Columbus North. Some of whom will come back up here in a minute. It looks like to me. All right. Good evening. Uh thank you for this opportunity to celebrate this wonderful student achievement. Um, I have with me tonight Ean Jassuja. Maybe you guys can assume a short little wave when I share your name. Ean was our top scorer at Columbus North and second overall in the state of Indiana for CNHS Indiana Math League. Harshel Gandhi, Wendy Zong, Rendy Zong, and Alex Zang. Um, just wanted to share that uh, first of all, there's about 150 students that participate annually in CNHS Indiana Math League. And each round we take our top five scores and then compare those against all the other schools in the state. And this year we came out as state champions.
I wish I had a crystal ball. Um we have great teachers. I had a lot of faith in, you know, with four kids, we went through a lot of teachers over the years, and we never had a teacher that I didn't care for. Um we never had a teacher that I wasn't um with good thoughts that my kids were safe, they were getting a good education. Um so, I know our corporation is strong in that way. We've had a lot of people come and go that I wish would have left, um but I just think that we need to work more in a positive [cough] manner about taking care of what we already have, and how we can fiscally do that, I'm not sure, but we need to heal as a community, as a school corporation. Um I'm really big right now with the council on partnerships.
So, we have to have a bit of a cushion in case we don't see everything that we anticipate. Um, so again, going through some historical data there, but that, [clears throat] um, kind of Senate Enrolled Act 1210 would be a way to help us get through another year before a full consolidation. That's all I have, Barry. Sorry, I'm just turning it on. Is there anybody questions for Kim? Yeah, when do we know when the [clears throat] SEA 1210 for sure? So, we, well, Doc Wiley would have to submit a letter to the state by May 15th. Um, I have a webinar on a Thursday to learn more. Uh, it is it is a Senate Enrolled Act already, so it is something that is possible, um, and before May 15th, I mean, we would have our comfort level of where that where that would lie or what number we would be looking at.
So, they're they're they've got their priorities in the right place and we're happy to honor the ones who were able to join us tonight. >> So, do So, make sure that this becomes part of our minutes and when I read the uh resolution of commendation, okay? So, the Crown Point Board of School Trustees is honored to commend the 2025 and 2026 Crown Point High School Latin Club for meritorious achievement. Be it hereby resolved that the Board of School Trustees for the Crown Point Community School Corporation wishes to express sincere congratulations for the 2025 and 2026 Crown Point High School Latin Club for winning second place in the Helen Wampler Spirit Contest, second place in the Dennis M. Bartlow publicity contest, third place in the local publications contest, third place in the overall sweepstakes competition, and third place overall in the Catterman for Tom intermediate division at the Indiana Junior Classical League State Convention.
She's honest in the small everyday [clears throat] moments, whether it is owning a mistake, being truthful even when it would be easier not to be, or just being someone others can trust. What stands out about McKinley is that her honesty isn't for attention, it's simply who she is. It shows in how she treats others, how she handles challenges, and how she carries herself every single day. Because of that, she helps create a classroom where people feel respected and safe to be themselves. McKinley has set a strong example for everyone around her. >> [applause] >> They grow so much. They're like my height at this time. So, I have the honor of recognizing Logan Campbell. His teacher says, "Logan has a great sense of humor. He is creative and funny. Logan is kind to his peers and respectful to teachers and staff. Logan shows responsibility by getting assignments turned in on time and always doing his stuff." Logan's a joy to have in class.
