And Bright Stone is here to represent our program. Thank you. >> [applause] >> Our boys basketball team also won sectional this year as well. Duran Harris all Mick. I'm sorry. Okay, got you. Yep. Okay, got you. >> [applause] >> Our boys basketball team won sectional this year headed by our head coach Phil Washington, starting with Deron Harris, all MIC, Gavin Petty, all MIC, Caleb Wells, all MIC, Jeremiah Bellamy, DJ Summers, Albert Gooden III, Cayden Doolin was also academic all-state, Dylan Wright, Ty Ferguson, Dayton Stevens, Santana Allen, Zyaire Berryhill, Jayden Madison, Anthony Smith, also here is LJ Owens, and our other coach coach Albert Gooden. >> [applause] [applause] >> Good evening. I'm Jason Floyd, proud principal of Lawrence North High School, and we're here to recognize our wonderful athletes this year. And to do that, I have our athletic director, Mr. Mike Penrose. >> [applause] >> Thank you, Mr.
Is giving myself and the cameraman some uh sunglasses over here because it's tough to see over here right now with the sunglazing. But we'll take this weather any day compared to what we've had in uh February and March. Beautiful day over here in Ashland. Just about 60°. So, a lot of calls on Ashland so far today. But I think against this Westwood team, this high part offense, you got to be aggressive. So, I think Ashlin's kind of doing what they can to slow them down. Can't see what number that is. Looks like number seven on Westwood. That's a goal by Westwood. Emma Fitzpatrick, another junior. >> 5-2 game over here. >> So again, Westwood's coming in at with a record of five and three. Let me just get their uh stats over here. Yeah. So, five and three. They beat Hington 15-6, Medfield 138. Here goes number two again.
Now it's 6 to nothing. Just under 4 minutes in the first quarter. And other than one Abstis save, the Raider defense has not been getting tested too much. It is a offensive day. Yeah, I mean Diesel is in the building, though. As you saw from some good takeaways and and that giant hit that led to a penalty. They are showing that they're here. >> Yeah. >> This is Olson now. Getting attacked by number 10, Tyler Enright. Dishes it up to Atwood. Atwood centering to Savarese. Ben Savarese. Checked in the game along with his brother Tyler. So, got the brother magic out there. Olson has it, stepping back a little bit. Centering pass up to Ben to Tyler. These Savarese boys are quite savvy. >> Yeah, I was going to say a little brotherly love. >> And oh, nice shin block there on Fowler rocket. >> Definitely hurt.
Shoots one pass the goalie. >> So it's all tied up with 13 seconds left in first quarter. give either team plenty of time to get the ball, run down the field, have a shot on net. >> We're back up on the draw. >> Whitmer self draws. Can she run 40 yards in 10 seconds up the field? Seven seconds left. Try. She goes through one, two, Woodward takes a shot and oh, nice save by the keeper to turn around and save that goal. Definitely the player of that quarter is the Northampton keeper. She's got to have about eight saves on the Spartans taking last second shot. >> Scores all tied up going into the second quarter. All right, back up for second quarter action. Scores all tied up three to three. Green and Fedinkz have the goals for Northampton. Fedinkz has two goals. Green has two goals.
Uh good evening everyone. Uh Superintendent Lavoy, members of the district committee. Thanks for having us tonight. Um I want to start off by introducing uh members of our team. Uh once again joining us is uh director of teaching and learning, Panota Athanellis. Um also here tonight is our director of special education, Miss Tina Nutter. Uh and our director of language uh culture and equity, Joe Faucet. Um, as we look to at our progress of our special education and multilingual learner programs, thank you. We want to start with a message of gratitude. Um, a lot of work was done uh by this committee to approve uh in the last two budgets um some personnel additions in both special education and in multilingual learning department. Uh and they're the foundation of tonight's presentation. Uh we titled tonight's presentation empowering every learner because we want to show you exactly how your strategic investments are working in action.
>> I. >> Any nays? No, all right, it's unanimous. Thank you. Um All right, discussion of the 26-27 school calendar and possible motion. And I believe we have calendars in our packet to take a look at. You do. You do. No, go ahead. Over to you, sir. >> I You do. Thank you so much for the opportunity to bring back the calendar discussion. Um in between the last time we had met and today, last week we had an opportunity to meet with the calendar committee. Uh [snorts] and during that meeting, um we had brought back some of the conversation that occurred around this board table with questions that still remained about calendar, some things to look into. We also had an opportunity to take all nine other calendars from different districts in our area and really look at what those calendars told us more specific to the data.
They demonstrate unwavering commitment, compassion, and professionalism each and every day. Their impact is felt not only in their classrooms, but throughout our entire school. And we are truly grateful to have them as part of our Lincoln school family. Now, I did this as a team because our paraprofessional of the year and our teacher of the year are actually a team. They're part of our kindergarten group. So, I'm very proud to recognize Ms. Gutteskey as teacher of the year and Ms. Hanso as paraprofessional of the year. >> [applause] [cheering] [applause] >> Thank you, Dr. Mendez. Dr. Bonanno, School 7.
I added it. Um teacher appre With teacher appreciation around the corner, if anyone any parent or community member um was is wondering how to show their appreciation for our uh staff at school district 308. All of our staff. You can volunteer at their kids' schools, support their PTOs, PTAs, HSAs by being involved and by donating to the many events that we host each year. With that, I would like to say thank you. And um I am sharing uh so Avery, a little bit about Avery. He was I mean, this kid it was amazing. He sca uh he um uh played lacrosse, hockey um he water surf, he swam. I mean, he did a lot of things. And he was a quadriplegic. Uh Miss Cayalti is um with the help of Imagination Print um has come up with this hashtag live like Avery. And if anybody wants to donate uh the funds that are collected through this initiative will help other schools.
Um we are so and everything in everything we do every day, we have students at the center of that. And I have to tell you um when I get the opportunity and Mary George joined me this month uh to visit schools and to celebrate our staff. And it is without a single beat where we meet staff and they are so surprised. Not one time is a person like, "Oh, okay, yeah, I was waiting, you know? How long did it take you?" No, nobody. In fact, it's quite the opposite. Most, if not every one of them tonight, uh said, "Really? What? Me?" You know, and it it's never a single moment. The communication team and I always look at each other like, "We just can't believe we get to witness this." The level of self care, or I should say self-effacement, and complete dedication to children that when we show up and we say, "We'd like to invite you to come meet the board." Every one of these folks always just kind of looks at us like, "Are you serious?
Watch out for all the communications. Don't miss them. There's exciting things going on at all of the schools in the next month. We can't wait to see you there. And I hope everyone has a great end of their year. >> Mrs. Patter. >> Thank you. Uh I first want to congratulate you, Julie, on your board election. and it's it's been a long time coming and and it I know that I have faith in you and I know that this is going to be very good for us and I and I do also want to thank D for her service on the board because she's really done an incredible job navigating this board through really tough unprecedented times uh with grace and dignity and some humility and um I think that everything that we've been through as a board has has made this group very we all have some kind of connection I think for life um because of that.

The highest level of distinction given by the Avon Community School Corporation is a commendation from the Board of School Trustees. Therefore, let it be resolved that Caleb Rashid is hereby commended for his success and achievements. Board members, I will take a motion. I move that the Board of School Trustees approve the commendation for Caleb Rashid as presented. Second. Motion by Kim, seconded by Josh. Did I hear that right? Okay.
Phillips this year actually. And my favorite teachers were Mr. Russell who taught me AP US history and Mr. Schiffer who taught me um calculus. And they made every day so engaging and exciting to learn even when it was really hard and sometimes boring. And it just made every day so fun having them as teachers. And something I'm proud of was my senior project which I did with Lauren Dgner from East who's also here today. And that was the BCSC blood battle which was a blood drive at Columbus East North and City Hall. And we collected over 100 donations. And that was something really exciting that I was glad I was able to do. Good evening. My name is Vincencia and my Vincensia Lee and my future plans are to either attend Cornell University or join IU Bloomington as a well scholar to study biology and public health on the premed track.
They can control and they can a big conglomerate school more than they can a small rural school like we have. If you want the state to stay out of our lives and big government to die, we're going to have to pay a little bit more to pay these people stay in this building. I I don't want to this isn't doesn't fix the thing. We've got a It's the referendum's going to have to happen so we can pay our teachers so they don't leave. Just because [clears throat] we're not doing it now don't mean we won't have to do it in 2 years. I think we will. We probably are just kicking the can down the road. But I think closing the building and moving those teachers is going to be enough of a pain on our community and our our teachers that we'll try bleed just a little bit now and bleed a little bit later instead of bleeding all at once.
That's correct. Yes. >> [snorts] >> Do we Do we still have to deal with the geothermal? I'm assuming if we would close Wolf Lake, what does that do to the geothermal? At some point we're going to have to deal with it. I mean, is that correct? >> It's Yes. And so, we would we would clearly have to keep that building somewhat climate controlled. So, we don't We don't want to lose the gym floor. We don't want to, you know, have everything mold. Um so, we would have to have some climate control, but without students in the building, it wouldn't be quite an emergency situation, like if we had students in the building. So, we could um that would give us a little bit more flexibility to see what we could do, and we could have some a little bit more flexible options, like if our if our focus, you know, is kind of mainly gym floor, gym space, you could have some kind of localized options in that area.
Just take a step forward. Introduce yourself, and then we'll also give you your award and we'll uh shake your hand with you both. Get your award, but let everybody know who you are. Just say hello. Uh introduce yourself. >> [laughter] >> Uh all right. I'm just going through the >> that. >> Yeah. So we have 44 people on staff, but they acted like there was going to be a storm today that was going to you know blow out the >> Sorry, you're a little bit ahead of me. >> Yeah. Well, and then of course he's W, so we might be I started with Miles. Let's see. And then there's also um all of our orchestra kids, they got a big concert coming up um this weekend, so all the orchestra kids wanted to make sure that they were there getting in as much practice at the as they can.
Um prior to that, uh 9 years uh as athletic director at Danville, and 6 years uh as a middle school uh AD in Brownsburg. So, we're just really uh excited to have him uh work with us, work with our coaches, um really build out our athletic uh department to where we can build upon uh the efforts of the past, but really looking to kind of take us into the future, and enhance what we're doing, and um take us to this greater heights. We want to We want to compete for sectionals, regionals, and semi-states and state championships just just across the board. So, we're really excited to have him come aboard uh July 1. And I know he's uh jumping the bit and probably get started a little bit earlier than that uh as we work to make sure summer plans are in place for all of our athletics uh programs and that way we have a smooth transition um for Mr.
I will be volunteering with ecological projects and personally taking the time to explore my own interests. Thank you. Uh hi, I'm Braden. I think the most impactful part of the trip for me was meeting Dr. Vaughan and touring Plan a Million Corals, which is a research foundation he founded where they uh grow and plant corals because to help prevent a die-on coral. Uh just getting the opportunity to not just learn about but actually see the impact the research had on a world made me realize how important it truly is. It's actually uh inspired me to start to go out and sign up for summer research projects myself so I can help make an impact in our community. I also really enjoyed going to the Everglades. I've been to a couple of national parks before, but the opportunity to experience a national park which is with just an amazing group of people, I'm going to remember that forever.
Floyd. Uh school board, Dr. Smith, and cabinet, it's my pleasure to recognize our winter athletes tonight. We're going to first start with our boys basketball team. They were Marion County champions for the 13th time in school history. So, we're going to start with our head coach, Mr. Chris Giffin. >> [applause] >> I'd also like to recognize coaches Brandon Surrell, Jared Good, Rick Thomas. Coach Brandon Muncy is here. Coach Dwight Brown Jr., Patrick Williams, uh team mom and assistant coach Antoinette Welch. And our team members, uh first off, Cameron Webster, Marion County champion. All these kids are Marion County champions, but uh Cameron was all MIC, all Marion County, IBCA large school all-state, and he was voted to the Indiana All-Star team this year. >> [applause] >> Mr. Brennan Mill- Miller was the uh he was all MIC, he was the MIC player of the year, all Marion County, IBCA supreme 15 all-state, and he was also voted an Indiana All-Star this year.
>> What a save by Alana Duffy. That's number four. Again, all these stats for today are completely not official, but I'm counting four saves from Milana. So again, Westwood comes in 5 and three. They beat Medfield 13-8, Bellingham 170, Norton 21 to1. So that was the game that they scouted over 20. Uh lost to Ducks, which is a non TVL 89. Um beat Norwood and then lost to two other non-league games. Pingham five uh 5 to2 and then conquered Carly 8 to9. So probably one of the top if not the top TVL large team. So Ashland has their hand you know tough game over here doing the best they can keep the game competitive and uh you know I think to me one of their top players is Lana Duffy their goalie but right now playing a really good team defensive game over here. Got to watch the fouls right now.
>> Yeah. He's playing it off like it didn't though. Real tough goalie in net, Will Landrigan. >> Real cool. >> Junior. >> He's made some good saves already, too. That one. >> Atwood, oh, good defense from Bellingham. Oh, Fowler just jumps in and hits the post. 2:41 left to go in the first. Here we go. Savarese tries to dish to Fowler, does. Fowler thought about it for a quick second. Up to Ben Savarese. And Bellingham's not really given an easy path. >> Ben was >> Nice spin. No, they're not. Olson now with it. Olson makes a path for himself. Great save from Landrigan. And look at that, Atwood. >> I mean, no, that was Hartnett. >> Yep. >> Gets his second of the game. >> Real quick and alert play by Hartnett. Scooped up the rebound and just found the back of the net real easy.
