Severance now picking it up. This is Ben dishing it off to Fowler. Fowler passes to Atwood. But in our sister Elsa Suko, I'm not just kidding. Yeah, so Atwood with it right now. Far side coming in. Great defense, though. Oh, that just got away from Hartnett. Yep, Bellingham going to try to break it out now. This is Eddie Savage with it. How do you pronounce that, Cam? S A V J E Savage? Oh, little spin move. Wow, he's good. Eddie. Call him Eddie from now. Eddie getting hassled by Sen. Dishing it up. Number is there, number 18, LaHouse. Passing it off. Bellingham working it around. Nice centering pass and that hits off O'Leary's leg. Whitesman going to pick it up. Yep. Like I was saying, he picked it up. Great breakout right to Atwood. Atwood running full speed. Atwood coming in. Nice pass to Montemayor.
Palanteer blazing one past the goalie. Put the Spartans up six to four with 714 left in this second quarter. Timeout Northampton. So loud. I don't like How you doing? >> Come on. >> I don't know this. >> There wasn't even the process we were here. >> No. Wait, wait, wait. I would say >> we are back after Northampton calls a timeout. >> Both teams re-evaluating what they got to do. Matt Whiter up on the draw. Jame Pelier just uh dripped one past the goalie to put the Spartans up 6-4. 714 left in the first first quarter. Whiter up on the draw. Whitward knocks the ball to check on Mac Whitmer. I think picks up the ball and they're looking to set North looking to set up the offense. with the ball meeting there. Trying to go by trying to find an open man there. Good job by trying to go by playing a little oneonone.
So they have goals and objectives on their IE IEPs specifically for reading services. Um we have trained our staff to support students across all of our programs and the reading specialist like I said prior is working mostly with our dyslexic students. So she if you look at the slide she is supporting 23 of our students. those students um are students that have been identified with dyslexia. Our other students that are struggling learners um out of the 68 students will have programming but don't necessarily meet the dyslexia criteria. Um, in addition to the data that we collected, I also wanted to uh provide some student feedback about the literacy class because as we know literacy um in high school can be tricky to teach. Uh these are some of the quotes from the students in the class and the piraphph on the right is it's only eight responses from students but 87.5% of the students feel that it has impacted their reading skills.
With the current uh calendar that you'll see that's being proposed, I believe there are only two early release days this year for that purpose. So, that is a significant reduction, which is nice. Also, and so they felt like for next school year, we could leave them as they are, but it is a conversation if we want, you know, to have that they recommended we did for the 27-28 school year calendar. Um and lastly, uh April break, uh they recommended keeping April break versus removing uh keeping it as is. Um and they also recommended removing the language that we had around taking days from April break. Now, I'm just going to share with you the conversation that ensued. I don't know the deep history here in Brookfield, but uh the conversation was that we've never dipped into the April break. So, it's a clause that we've never really used.
To To day, I still don't know how she made it all fit, but she did. Fast forward 3 years and Miss Campamezzi continues to go above and beyond in every way. She serves as a chairperson of our skip committee. She was on our sense sentinel committee member. Uh demonstrates leadership and commitment to our entire school community. She also runs Camp Zumba on Wednesdays after school. A wonderful blend of learning and movement. Students sign up in the dro in droves and we actually had a cap enrollment because so many students wanted to participate and sweating in the gym. I even joined once or twice myself and I can tell you keeping up with her is no easy task. But what truly sets Miss Campamezzi apart is who she is in the classroom. She is without question one of the finest elementary teachers I've ever seen. She never raises her voice.
Students were able to freely share thoughts, opinions, and ideas without fear. All students were heard despite their personal background. This was truly a nurturing environment for everyone. Everyone listened attentively and being a part of SSAC built student confidence in everyone. Space was created that was comfortable and allowed students to be vulnerable and grow. It created we we were able to create structured action plans and we implemented those. When we engaged in work, roles were assigned based on student preference, but everyone was encouraged to try something new and to build confidence and gain experience. And SSAC had the opportunity to partner and collaborate with student groups at both high schools that focus on amplifying student voice to gain that support. And SSAC board ambassadors and alternates met with Ms. Prior every Wednesday. Weekly meetings should continue with whomever is leading SSAC next year. And this overall helped us stay organized and prepared and practice leadership and preparation for meetings with the entire SSAC group.
Uh and I want to thank the team for leading that. And with that, I want to invite our board members to share some additional celebrations and notes that we want to bring to the forefront. All right, we have an exciting first for the district this weekend. Alex Wollschlaeger became the first football player in OE history to reach the NFL. He signed with the New Orleans Saints as part of the offensive line. Congratulations, Alex. We're so proud of our alums. Well, the Saints was my first favorite team in America when I moved to the US. That's it. >> Was it? Yes. He must have known. Who dat say gonna beat them Saints? Who dat? As long as it wasn't the Packers. >> [laughter] >> Um the IHSA the IHSA at the IHSA journalism state finals, Tyler Urbanowski of OEHS earned third in advertising and fifth in yearbook page design, and Eric Gonzalez of OEHS earned fifth in radio news.

Congratulations. Board members, I will entertain a motion. I move that the Board of School Trustees approve the commendation for the Avon High School Large Ensemble Dance Team as presented. Second. Motion by Jennifer, seconded by Mike. Or, excuse me, Mrs. I should start being more formal.
And they've also always uh fostered and been patient with all the questions I asked them, and they've really helped me develop my passion for these subjects. My favorite memory with North would probably be my senior project and that was me going back to Parkside Elementary School and teaching the students there computer science and I find this was really really significant to me because the reason I got into computer science was because someone did the same thing to me. So it was kind of a full circuit circle. I'm really really grateful for that. So thank you. >> Good evening. My name is Nino Kallaya and next year I plan to attend Indiana University in Bloomington to study human biology on a premedical track. Here at Columbus North High School, I'm the senior vice president as well as a varsity team captain for the girls tennis team.
An ideal plan would have been in place at the beginning of the year of the year, allowing time for preparation and communication. Moving forward, I strongly encourage us to consider a phased approach. This allows us to reduce risks, support our staff, and ensure everything Every change is done with intention. Because ultimately, it doesn't It's just not about change. It's about making them well. Something else to consider, we'll also have to maintain the CNP building as we talked about, conducting security tests checks, providing Wi-Fi to run security cameras, maintaining the functionality of the building the building. And it will cost us money whether regardless whether classes are there or not. The long-term effects of these decisions and the way we handle them affect the community in the long run. Thoughtful planning and decisions are what truly affect the community in the long run. I ask you to consider each aspect of time and not rush into making these decisions.
I'm incredibly proud of them and uh grateful to the school corporation for all that you've provided us. Um it's been a blast for me to work in this corporation the last 18 year 18 years and um and it's been an especial blast to work with all of you guys and I look forward to seeing all the amazing things you do down the road. Without further ado, we had everybody booked here but this weather is throwing us off tonight. Um Luke Basin. Gavin Chambers. Aidan Highlema. Taser Komel. Megan Kordum. Josie Mykrantz. Jalen Miller. Ariana Pantoja. Mikey Pascarella. Raina Stevens. Gabe Trevino. Braden Zamoyski. That is our group. Thank you so much. >> Thank you, guys. All right, so next up we will have, which I think we have a lot of the same um students in this one. We have the CPHS Crown Town Media. You can come on in.
And my favorite part was seeing like on Pompeii like the art on the walls that was still there. That was pretty cool and the numbers on the side of the building especially. >> [laughter] [cough] >> Uh day three we took a bike tour of the Villa Borghese Gardens. Just as a side note if you ever get a chance ask Ms. Clements about her experience with that bike ride it's quite a fantastic story. Um I did not go on the bike ride. Um after that we took a guided tour of Rome. We saw things like the Roman Forum and the Colosseum. The Colosseum actually I think was one of the most exciting for the kids. Um one of our kids Dirk here he's a sixth grader. He's a pretty chill guy. He doesn't seem to get excited by much. He's just pretty even keel all the time and he was running around taking pictures and I was like what's going on Dirk?
The engine will be used as a teaching aid within the program allowing our students the chance to train on an actual fire engine. Additionally, we'll be able to use the fire engine as a marketing tool putting it in local parades and homecoming. We'd hope to have it here tonight, but the Tobens are adding the Viking decal and some additional stickers and so it's prepped and ready for its sticker appointment and it can't get wet, but we'd love to bring it to a future meeting.
We've we've fenced off half of it and we we've demoed half as we work across the playground renovations. And then you'll take a look at the inside. There's a corridor and then there's this one of our standard classrooms glasses in. This this building's mainly CMU or block walls and so it's a little further along than it might look uh and all the all the overhead work is done. And then at Forest Glen you can see over spring break uh we got a lot of work done. All the drywalling is done now. We've moved on to painting uh since I took that picture middle last week. And then there's some more. There's a picture inside a a pair of classrooms there. And then Mary Castle you've seen that. It's pretty well done. We wrapped it up President's Day weekend. So I just thought I'd get a picture.
This year, playing a lot of midfielder, playing a little offense over here. So that is Ashley's second goal, her 21st goal for her four-year career. And she just matched her her two goals today. She had two goals for freshman year in 2023. So it's a pretty cool stat over there. Maggie McInness got Payton Trip and I think that's Lily Vidy. Face Officer Key over here. Nice job by Payton. Trip >> started with Maggie. Over to Payton. >> Ashlin Ball still. Pay Trip is a uh field hockey, ice hockey, and lacrosse player. So, three sport varsity player from uh Payton Trip. Good job by Westwood. But uh who was that? Ashley Forester got the ball. Got a 6-3 game going over here. >> Surprised didn't get a call there, but Maggie McInness uh lost the ball. Good defense. Ashley Forester hustling down number 11. That is uh Cassie McMillan.
And that was just an incredible play. >> Yeah. >> Whitesman to Atwood to Montemayor. >> Yeah, Atwood had a nice little pick up somewhat in stride from uh Whitesman Whitesman and uh what a little finish that was by Montemayor. >> He's so good. Montemayor just posts up and >> Great in the paint if you will. >> Quick hands up close. >> That's where goalies can't do much about that. >> I mean, the kid berries. >> It's his first of the day. >> Mhm. >> Eight nothing. Raiders on top. >> Yeah, tough day for Bellingham right now. It's looking like the Raiders are going to win this one, but it's a little too soon to tell. Yeah, looked like uh number 14 was looking for a call there. And I say 14 cuz he's not on our roster either, Cam. Oh, look at that. Great defense.
Nice little save by Julia Gray. >> [cheering] >> turns around, fires the ball up to Billings. >> Nobody within 20 yards. >> Get the ball up overn. Dink turning around trying to do a move. Staying there with her. Dink turns around takes a shot. Another good save by Julia Gray. This time Kylie Marino comes up with it. >> Keep going. >> See Kylie just keep going with it. Kylie goes by one. There's only one more girl. Fires the ball over to Jane Pelier. Pelier [cheering and applause] fires a shot. Point blink by the goalie. Jame Pelier gets her second goal of the game to put the Spartans up seven to four. Good job by Marino to run 60 yards. Unselfishly gets the ball over to >> Jane Palier. Palier second goal of the game. >> Second quarter. It's the Jane Palier and Kylie Marino show trying to come up with anything.
Um and 12.5% said maybe. So um this is just some of the data that we have been reviewing. If you look at this graph we have six students on the bottom. it is identifying um reading accuracy over the three quarters. So student one is in the first column for f quarter 1, quarter two and quarter 3. We student two is absent for quarter 3. So we don't have that data but it just shows you the growth that students have made um with word list reading. These were some of the areas which students identified that they improved in. Um they can break words into syllables now. They've got faster at reading. They understand what they read better. So I just wanted to give you some student feedback as well as the data that we have. Another position that you um have approved for the special ed department was our transition specialist.
Does it need to be there? Um because to Mrs. Skala's point, some of the staff that were there that are our educators in the classrooms spoke to um there are limited opportunities for them to plan any type of getaway. And when they do, they always do it during non-school days. That April break is kind of the one that they really can do that because it's long enough. Uh the holidays are are tougher for many reasons. Uh the the middle of the year holidays. Um and so, they were hoping that that kind of cloud lingering over of taking away those days might just be better off removed if we've never used it in the whole time we've been here. Um because it can kind of impose that question mark of uh should I or not? And am I going to lose money? Or am I going to have to take personal day?
