Instead, she leads with kindness, respect, and unwavering encouragement. She teaches her students not just academics, but how to be good people. To be respectful, to be kind, to believe in themselves, and make no mistake, she truly cares about her kids and their success. Her impact extends far beyond her classroom walls. As students move up through the grades, sometimes some of her former students may come visit me because they're in trouble and somehow some have said to me, "Please don't tell Miss Campamezzi." That says everything. On occasion, when she happens to stop by the office and learns that a former student has made a poor choice, they never did anything wrong, they just made a poor choice, um she'll have a quiet one-on-one conversation with them and I can tell you I really I rarely see that student back in the office. That level of respect, that deserves not to disappoint her is something truly special.
Hello, good evening everyone. Hello. What a rainy afternoon. Not afternoon, evening. Yeah. So, as we discussed our accomplishments throughout SSAC, we also wanted to talk about some goals for the future of SSAC and future board ambassadors and alternate and alternate. Some areas that we looked at was attendance. Um SSAC uh is full of very talented and involved and heavily involved students um who are in sports, extracurricular activities, clubs, organizations, so attendance was inconsistent, but we hope um in the future we have um multiple meetings per month, bi-week bi-monthly, but attendance meeting times that are shorter. Um a lot of students recommended maybe morning meetings from the times between 6:50 a.m. and 7:20, so right before first period starts in the high schools. Um we also talked about communication with SSAC members through Remind, an app that a lot of teachers and organizations use to directly contact students.
From OH S, Taylor uh Anna placed sixth in news writing. Congratulations to these student journalists. Uh the Wildcats had a successful showing at their regional soccer competition. The silver team finished third, and both orange and junior teams earned silver. In the recent skills competition, Emily Malanaukas uh placed fourth. Ryan Halverson earned bronze. Zack Bayes, Ben Conley, and Lacey Sawitowski earned silver, and Benny Robinson and Gianna Heineman won gold. Congratulations and good luck to our athletes competing at the state this June. The Bednarzik Science Olympiad uh team took second place overall in middle school division A of the state tournament. The team also earned medals in several events. Congratulations, Bulldogs. Way to show off your science skills. The Oswego Police Department has been visiting visiting different SD 308 schools for autism acceptance month. Many of these events have included a K9 comfort dog, safety talk, touch a truck opportunity, and more.
Darling and Mrs. Sandlin. >> Okay. >> Stacy Salt. >> Yes. >> Katherine Potter. >> Yes. >> Bridget Sandlin. >> Yes. >> Mindy Hartman. >> Yes. >> Darling, yes. Julie Jetty, >> yes. Motion approved. Okay. Agenda items requiring board discussion and approval. 11.1 is the approval of resolution as presented. >> Okay. >> So, um Okay. So, >> do this. >> Okay. So, can I have a motion for the approval of resolution as presented? A second resolution providing for the issue of not to exceed 5.5 million general obligation school bond series 2026 for the purpose of altering, repairing, equipping, and improving the sites of existing school buildings, providing for the levy of a direct annual tax sufficient to pay the principle and interest on said bonds and authorizing the proposed sale of said bonds to the purchaser thereof.
Is there any discussion? All those in favor? That motion carries 5-0. Congratulations. >> [applause] [snorts] >> Board members, comments for our awesome Large Ensemble Dance Team. I would just say that I am thoroughly impressed. I literally could not imagine what you do and and cannot imagine how it gets done, let alone all the hours that you spend doing it. Um definitely not in the shot put category. So, I'm I'm on this one. But, with the grace and power and agility, it's just amazing how you turn the the art into a story and just really impressed. Yes, you know, success breeds success. So, the first time that the dance team came and we presented a commendation, I think everyone thought, "Oh, that's so awesome." And I hope they can do it again. And then they did. And they did it again and again and again and again.
Now throughout my high school career, I've had a lot of classes and a lot of teachers that have been so impactful for me. But I feel like Jennifer Sin Whittle, Mrs. Stein Whittle, my C4 biomedical teacher, really stands out. She has cared for me in and out of the classroom. and every class that I've had with her has been my favorite. She taught me principles of biomedical sciences my freshman year and this year I'm in two of her classes, biomedical innovations and medical terminology and I've loved all these classes. And throughout my career, she's checked in on me as a student and as a person. So, I really appreciate her and all that she's done for me. My favorite high school memory actually comes from the girls tennis team. I remember playing at the IHSAA state tournament last year and my partner Annabelle Son and I, we made it to the semi-finals and although we lost, it was an amazing experience for me and I wouldn't trade it for the world.
Hey, sorry. Sorry, Jody. Sorry, Jody. >> [snorts] >> Thank you. Um Miranda Klaus. Good evening. I am Miranda Klaus, a kindergarten teacher, mom of seven, farm wife, 4-H volunteer, and a member of the Wolf Lake Agendas Committee. I understand what it's like to sacrifice for the community you love and serve. I want to begin by saying I commend each of you for your effort, dedication, and leadership on this school board. I stand before you today to ask you to consider keeping Centerville Primary open for another year. Our budget has been created for the '26-'27 school year already. And although it is not a perfect scenario, it exists with CNP's expenses already figured in. Remaining in status quo for one more year would give us time, which time is a very valuable commodity. We'd have time to ensure that construction projects were finished before the start of the school year.
Let me know that he is in so you can come right back in. >> This is quite the group. Look at the turnout. Best turnout yet. All right. So, I will read our last commendation tonight for you all. Resolution of commendation. The Crown Point Board of School Trustees is honored to commend CPHS Crown Town Media for meritorious achievement. Be it hereby resolved that the Board of School Trustees for the Crown Point Community School Corporation wishes to express sincere congratulations to the CPHS Crown Town Media for receiving the 2024-25 Hoosier Star Award, the state's highest recognition, and second place Rowena Harvey Awards at the Indiana High School Press Association competition. The Board of School Trustees publicly recognizes this achievement and renders it permanently to its minutes to be preserved for public posterity. Dated this 27th day of April 2026. So, um which sponsor would like to join us this time?
Like I just wanted to know what's going on in his head and he was like I just can't take enough pictures. There's so much here to see. So it was fantastic. It was such an awesome experience. Um we loved the Colosseum a lot. The kids really really enjoyed that one. Uh day four and I rode a bike and canoe. Should I talk about that one? Um oh and then there's a good picture of all of us. >> [laughter] >> Uh so on day four we had like a gladi gladi lesson. What? Shot bows and trained swords and um had like exercises. And then we got a tour of the catacombs, and they're just like big underground uh like ruins and tombs and everything. We saw about 8,000 people. Um and then we went on a self-guided tour of the Trevi Fountain. And I We also learned about and the Spanish Steps.
The Tobens along with our fire and rescue instructor Jason Myers here tonight in case the board has any questions. The documents you received in advance outline the responsibilities of both parties.
We are doing work on a little bit outside and then we'll be doing some playground work there as soon as school's out as well. Craig High, so this is a neat look. So uh this is the top floor of the building and they we have a big corridor up there and that's kind of a grand corridor and then it leads to those gathering stairs they call them in the stairway and then you can look down through the windows into the gymnasium. Um and then our next slide uh that is the kitchen uh there on the left and then the cafeteria on the right. The kitchen uh we had to cut out all the flooring and it's all new piping and electric work and of course we have to know exactly what's going where, drains and everything. So that kitchen's completely it looks huge right now cuz there's no walls and then the cafeteria there is is looking nice too.
Great job by Ashley forcing that play over there. First time uh the Wolverines are on the offensive side of the second quarter. That's Kendall Westerlin playing defense over there. And that's a quick goal by I missed from scor like number two Bridget Hughes Jr. So for those that are listening on WACA live, we are I am actually monitoring the chat. So feel free to uh interact over the chat over here on YouTube. Just you know, please keep it PG. Again, this is Brian Scot. I'm uh excited to be doing my second girls lacrosse game today. Well, actually my did a half game with Kevin McInness earlier this year. Little bit colder then. Beautiful day today. Okay, we got Maggie, Payton, and Lily Vidy on the faceoff. 73 game. Nine minutes left in the second quarter. >> Westwood with the win on the faceoff. >> Looks like number 10, Charlie Jurgens.
That was an awesome uh stick check by Fiore. This is Tyler Savarese. Oh, his pass gets blocked from number 16. >> Great job playing. >> Raiders swarmed right there. Oh my gosh, they are quick. Now, Fowler. Fowler coming down, it stops. Waiting for some fresh legs to come out. Pass to the Harnett. Harnett on the 40. Looking at Abrams coming in. Abrams with it now. Abrams going towards the middle. Abrams pass to Harnett and good save. And Abrams comes in and lays a check, but Landergan gets it. That was a good read by Landergan right there. He's a good goalie. Making a lot of saves. Pass unfortunately got away from him right there. Kind of reminds me of that Bruins game the other night where Swayman >> Ooh. >> wasn't even that bad, but >> got left out to dry. >> Yeah. Kind of similar indeed actually.
anything in the tournament come up way with draw. I think out of the uh 13 draws we've had today they've only won two of them two of them. >> They were successful in the last one but Whit quickly gets the ball up to herself bobbles it only need to come up with it. He turns around, >> gets the ball over the restraining line. Kicking goes in, out, turns around, takes a shot off the post. Northampton. Good scoop by Northampton will pick up that ball. Braman gets double team by Pelgro and Makney. Brain still with the ball making headway. Ian giving chase can get in front of him trying to push her out of bounds. Yeah, that's good defense by Hannah Eddie and Kylie Marino. The two of them slow ramen down came loose Spartans ball Kylie Marino. See if she can do this again Northampton defender to turn around try to get in front of Marino to slow her down.
She um started this year that has been a really really big impact in our department. So what are the roles of the transition specialist? She focuses on preparing stu students for life after high school whether that's employment, education or independent living. This work includes instruction, work-based learning, and community experience. And it begins at age 14 as part of the IEP. By law, we're required to provide transitional services for students per the IEP. Our goal is to ensure that students are prepared, confident, and able to navigate their steps independently when they leave GLTS. she supports um these are some of the things she supports here. So as well as transition services, she does some career exploration which is um typically done through a transition assessment. So it's a formalized standardized assessment that she completes to look at um career explor exploration with students. um she's working to with our co-op director.
You know, what am I going to have to do? Um so, that was the recommendation. So, what we brought forward to you and you can see on the next page is just a calendar that represents all of those recommendations. >> like the language that you're >> Um and we did we did add different language. We didn't you know, so I I would give you a minute to to walk or do you want me to walk you through it? What would you prefer? >> I'd rather just jump in with my question, but >> I was going to say the only So, there's no From what you presented at the previous meeting to now, the only change that was recommended is this language. >> That is correct. Yep, this would be have been version C from last meeting, but with the language change. >> Right, so that the two last sentences, those are the really language changes cuz the first one's the same.
It's a testament to the relationship she builds and the lasting impression she leaves on her students. Tonight is with great privilege and pride to honor someone who embodies excellence in education, compassion in action, and dedication beyond measure. Please join me in congratulation congratulating Ms. Campamezzi, School 8 Teacher of the Year. >> [applause] [applause] >> It's my pleasure to recognize our School 8 Para Professional of the Year, Ms. Laura Melkey. Ms. Melkey truly fits the definition of hardworking and dedication. Each day she supports the students in Ms. Castani's kindergarten class with care, patience, and energy that never seems to run out. Anyone who has spent time in a kindergarten class knows it requires someone who can think quickly, stay on their toes, and give their full heart to the work. Ms. Melkey does exactly that. Last year, Ms. Melkey was new to our School 8 community and worked in a different classroom.
Um most students usually check text messages more than their email and G chats. Um we talked about working more on planning first semester execution and the second semester, especially with coming with our lunch and learns that we had to push back, but we executed it um successfully in the end. Uh we talked about clarity in communication when reoccurring when recruiting students from other clubs. So, we want to expand SSAC uh not necessarily like if you were to interview, you're automatically in SSAC, but we were talking about how we wanted to kind of expand it to all groups which has extracurriculars in both high schools. Uh, that would recruit more students to join and it would advertise more to increase membership. And a recommendation that we had for our board members was that in the interview process maybe mentioning if you were not chosen to be an ambassador, do you still want to be a part of SSAC and kind of understand what our um, organization/club really is about.
We are grateful for our partnership with OPD and appreciate the time they are dedicating to raising awareness this month. Thank you. Thank you. And finally, at their April 22nd PTA meeting, Wolf's Crossing drew a record-breaking crowd of more than 100 people. They celebrated over 20 students of the moment nominated by their teachers for the positive ways they shine, and warmly welcomed families from Grand Park Elementary who are joining the Wolverines next year. The leadership club wrote heartfelt notes and shared a touching presentation about what makes Wolf's Crossing so special. The energy and pride in the room were beautiful reflection of collaboration across the district. It's really good to hear. Yeah. Yeah. There was a lot of intentionality to really build what these bridges are going to look like. And so, I want to thank the the student assignment planning group for that focus. I I just You made a comment about it being uh nurse's appreciation day.
Ah, any discussion? >> I'm going to make a very quick note that on the the remainder of the resolution, since we had our elections tonight, we probably need to update our president's name in the in the the rest of the thing we are signing, but otherwise, no comments. The resolution is fine with me. >> We have a vote. >> Uh, Katherine Potter, >> yes. Yes. >> Bridget Sandlin, >> yes. >> Mindy Hartman, >> yes. >> Darling, >> yes. >> Julie Jetty, >> yes. >> Stacy, >> yes. >> Okay. Motion passes. 11.2. Approval to place the amended fiscal 26 budget on display. Mr. Shepard. >> Yes. So again, just to remind the board, we are amending the budget uh for this fiscal year to account for a fund transfer from the education fund to capital improvement. Uh these funds are going to pay for our solar panel project uh and uh continue to pay off our transportation center which is uh moving along with construction.
