Board, any questions or comments on the RFP for security services? >> I do have one >> Ms. Lawrence. Um Dr. Nesbitt, will we be able to retain some of our current staff or will they all be replaced as a result of the fact that we're switching vendors? That will be up to the vendor. You if someone works for our current provider, perhaps they would apply uh to Eclipse, but that would be up to the the provider. Thank you. Thank you. Any other questions or comments, board? I do. Yes, Ms. Puckett. With the current provider and then with us switching over, what is is there a cost savings or cost increase? What are we looking at as far as >> It'll be cost neutral. Again, we think we'll be getting a little better service. Uh we did have a few hiccups with our current provider and so we were that was one of the reasons I wanted to RFP to see what else was out there.
Both captains. Uh so I turn over there by uh who played by number seven Emma Fitzpatrick Jr. >> That one we just got to let go. >> We got Maggie back going up against that looks like number 11 Cassidy McMillan. Another junior. The junior junior faceoff over here.
>> Okay. >> Montemayor >> some old You're watching some old film. >> Some classic highlights. >> Oh, there you go. Once again, check out our story on DSCableTV on Instagram. DSCableTV one word. Give us a follow. We'll follow you back. And feel free to talk to us on there. >> Yeah, they just don't give you the good stuff like Phil Esposito. >> [laughter] >> On the DSD. Oh, yeah, all right. Just missing the net there with Seagull. Abrams starting this one off. He's had a good game so far. Yeah, he's good. Keeps getting better, that guy. Oh, Abrams gets pulled out of the the flag comes out for that one. Yeah. Absolutely wrecked by a big man, McCarthy. Abrams might be seeing stars, but he looks like he's okay. Two absolutely massive hits today in this game and both penalties. Yeah, I mean, you got to work on a little cleaner game if you're going to throw some checks in.
shooting space attempt meter attempt goes in up down ball off the post. Good job by Kylie Marino to pick it up. Ino there gets ball overneck over to Pellegrino over to San by the keeper there to back that up. Behind the net waiting for some cutters. Man over to S. S with the ball. Nothing there. S the ball up on top. [screaming] Loses the ball and North D comes up with it. Doodle with the ball making headway going through the East defenders. She gets the ball over the 50 yd line. She's getting chased by two. She gets the ball over restraining line. look to set up their offense. >> Green with the ball. [cheering and applause] >> Green for the third time in that area. She goes by saw me and gets herself a goal. So I think every time gets the ball in that corner.
So, they are working with her one-on-one. One wants to be a hairdresser and she can't read the material to pass the test and she's a senior. So, I do have her working one-on-one with that specific student to build her skills before she leaves. >> No, I mean, this seems it seems really great. I mean, I I you know, I I like the progression and you're just not dropping them off. you're seeing it through with um a trans transition to community. >> Thank you. >> Yeah. So, it's great. >> Any further questions? Billy, >> I'll get you next. >> All I can tell you is that um couple things. I was here quite a while ago and we didn't have the services that you are now providing and I thank the school and superintendent and the staff that you have because it's terrific. Uh question um are there any students who are going to stay longer than their senior year, you know, like until they're 22 in program.
And and that a little bit I don't probably know what you meant Joy but um we are not selecting a graduation date for this calendar. Okay it felt like we did for this past year. >> in the fall. >> Okay. >> Can I ask clarification? So, I proceed knowing that because it's kind of helpful to process everything. So, some of the calendars we looked at that did just that, they would do similar to what we did. So, snow days will be taken away from, you know, the remaining days up to, let's say, June 18th, right? And that's how they would read. And then, it would read kind of the decision would be after that, it would go and take from April break. So, I guess my >> You still wouldn't know the last day of school. >> That Well, you But, you would have You have to have a cutoff at some point for snow days.
>> Yay! >> [cheering] [applause] [cheering] [applause] >> If you don't know about James Madison School number 10, we're very family-oriented, not only within the building but with our families outside. Um this next recipient is someone that is the true meaning of being a community member and building support within and with the community. It is such an honor to stand before you today and recognize someone who's truly who truly truly is the person that makes teaching what it is today. Ms. Mendoza leads with love, kindness, and unwavering commitment to her students, colleagues, and school community. She is the kind of teacher who always there to lend a hand, whether it's supporting fellow teachers, whether it's helping prepare school-wide events, translating for families, or volunteering at countless after-school activities. If any of you watch Tik Tok and you see that video when you say call in your translator and they all have the That's my Ms.
I also wanted to thank all teachers and staff members at Oswego High School who pushed me to become the best version of myself and speak my mind, even if I knew my voice would shake. I want to personally thank and shout out my amazing sponsor for SSAC this year, Ms. Prior, who has worked endlessly to make sure every student feels rightfully present in any area, in any building, and in any room. She truly has and will leave a legacy in this district and is an inspiration for many, and I will always carry her words of encouragement and coaching with me as I go into college. But, I would also like to emphasize to students who might be watching or listening at home or here today that as a student, if I had listened to every no or if I'd given up every time I was not acknowledged, I wouldn't be where I am here where I am today, sitting here.
And I think the makeup of the team is interesting. So, the three of us did a book study along with Dr. Heinz in the spring talking about what a guiding coalition is. I know that there were some other principals in the district, Shelly Moyer in particular, that really has championed the use of that. But, really what it is is it's a group of a cross-section of our teachers across the building. So, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math, language arts, multilingual learners, special ed, all these different teachers in a room trying to solve the different challenges that we have in the building. So, I think that representative leadership is really important. Um you know, other things we're trying to do I think is come up with actionable things that the teachers can do in their classroom. And we're vetting it with the people who are respected and connected in the building who will then be able to to sell whatever it is we're we're trying to do for kids to make that difference.
Um, my favorite teacher has been Mr. Rotor, my radio and TV teacher, and Mrs. Carol, my AP literature teacher. Um, they've both helped me both in the classroom and out of the classroom and just helped shape me as a person. My favorite high school memory, like Lauren, I am a C4 ambassador. Um, so I really like en I enjoy working with the kids and talking to the kids about the C4 program and all the amazing opportunities um that come with the program and leading the tours throughout the schools. Thank you. Hello, my name is uh Riley Ethridge. I'm going to attend Ball State this fall for graphic design. And my favorite teacher is also Mrs. Buck. Same with Stephanie. She's made me feel like I have a real shot in doing illustration and graphic design. Um, my favorite high school memory memory is probably that in graphic design in 2025, we do a girl up poster and girl is the organization where fifth and sixth grade girls come and see some of the STEM C4 and we do a poster contest where we submit to their uh contest and my poster for 2025 won.
It does buy us more time, but that also creates its own set of problems with cash flow. Mrs. Powell asked a couple things that I was kind of curious about. Pre-K, you already offer pre-K. That's done in the elementary campus, correct? What's the plan for that if you consolidate? Well, I mean, we we would still we would still have it, but she's talking about a pre-K to to increase that revenue and increase enrollment. And I don't know, I mean, that would take some work. And every every bit of research that we've done so far, uh that money comes from Title I. Uh Title I budgets generally are being cut. Uh they The state went from 6,000 students who could qualify to 2,500, I believe. With what kind of pre-K? With pre-K. Um and so that, you know, I I I I don't say that as a bad thing.
Um library mini golf is something we've been done done done since 2013 and each year we give uh prizes to uh schools that participate most of them being the corp- corporations uh schools. Uh each year we give over a thousand dollars uh when we have that um uh event and our course was actually built in partnership with the high school carpentry class way back in 2014 I believe it was. So we really are proud about that. It's a fundraiser for us but we give back to the community and those dollars that they get back $600 for first place, $300 for second place, and $100 for third place and then a participation prize on top of that if you just come out and do it $100 goes to their school library. Okay. Uh and then one book uh school corporation and then also our art month um it's really exciting the kids uh putting their art in the library hallway in our our our gallery.
The next item on the agenda is for the board to hold a lease hearing in connection with the proposed project. If you're interested in speaking at the hearing, please make sure you have signed the sign-in sheet, which include your name and address. After the presentation, there will be an opportunity for the public to make comments about the lease rental to be paid under the lease and appropriation of bond proceeds. At the hearing, we will ask that each person limit their comments to 3 minutes, and the topic be limited to the lease rental and appropriation of funds under consideration. Notices for this hearing were published as legally required. Pursuant to IC code 20-47-3, before a school corporation may enter into a lease with a nonprofit building corporation, the school corporation must conduct a hearing regarding the execution of the proposed lease agreement and whether the rental to be paid to [clears throat] the lesser building corporation uh under the proposed lease is a fair and reasonable rental for the proposed involvements.
Um so, we can adjust it accordingly if we needed to. But this then allows us to pay him accordingly. For uh transparency purposes, um the discussion of this began um several months back of what this looks like. Please know the gentleman in uh that were we're setting the system up for, it not only is extremely valuable to learning center, but it benefits this corporation greatly. It's a capstone course that we receive um funding from the state of Indiana when he teaches that. So, he is in demand. The learning center continues to grow um far larger than the appropriate pay for him as the district receives money for that. It's truly a win-win. Uh the process that Mrs. Babcock has is bringing to us previously [snorts] I had another district but what I would tell you is it's always based on budget. It's not automatic in any one situation but we would review a request from principal for consideration.
Okay, perfect. Thank you. Thank you. If there are no other questions or comments, we'll move to 3.4, curriculum advisory committee recommendations with Mr. Kusznick. Good evening, Madam President, Dr. Smith, members of the board. It's that time of year for our curriculum updates. Up first we have our curriculum advisory council which meets each semester and I'll turn it over to our director of secondary education, Mr. Brett Grous. President Norman, Dr. Smith, members of the board, I bring to you recommendations of the group that meets each semester to look at our curriculum and look at our course offerings. If you look at the background there, the Curriculum Advisory Council has been around for years in which we just review courses, make recommendations, and then building to make a decision as to whether they're going to offer that course or not. Committee members were wonderful. We had an outstanding group that truly went back to the buildings each time to talk through different offerings and what we could potentially do as we move forward with this new Indiana diploma, pathways, and other things that are coming about with A to F accountability.
A 10-3 game with about three minutes left in the second quarter. It's going in by uh Westwood. >> Yeah, those faceoffs are key over here. Westwood is just such a highowered offense. Very efficient. Great pass. Good defense by Ashlin. That was Samantha side. Over to our goalie, Alana Duffy. Sees one of her teammate. I think that is Ashley. Yep. Ashley Forester. Over to Payton Trip. Sees Maggie McInness open. I got some numbers over here. sees Lily Vidy just outside a little high on the pass. >> It's going to be Westwood Ball trying to get our top score, Lily Vidy. Top score for her four-year career. Opportunity to get some shots on. See Lily Vidy so far in her Ashlin career 140 goals. That is not a misprint. 140 goals for Lily Vidy. 38 assist. That's a total of 178 points for Lily Vitty. So she is 22 points away from breaking 200 total points for her Ashlin career, which is absolutely incredible.
You don't want to get flagged for them. >> Yeah. >> It's kind of a lost art, if you will. Totally. Totally. It just seems like every hit, clean or not, is a penalty from what I've seen. I don't know. Oh, maybe it was a might have been number 16 who laid the hit. And you're not on our roster, dude. Matsumoto just couldn't reel that one in. Just an absolute rocket of a pass. Harnett to Olsen, Olsen rocketing over. Yeah, Olsen not totally calibrated today, but still had a couple nice and I had a nice goal and an assist. Maybe more. >> Oh. >> Ouch. >> Yeah. >> A Fowler shot deflected. >> wince from feeling that one? That was Eric Todd just got smoked. Nice save from Landergen and post from Olsen. >> Giant post. >> Yeah, like I was saying, Olsen's not quite calibrated today.
You can hear the coach saying, "Go, go, go." He likes the match up. Green goes by, scores herself a goal. Her third goal of the game. 34th goal of the season. Northampton cuts the deficit nine to six. >> Ball goes up. Matt Whitler comes up with the ball. >> Whitler with the ball. Gets the ball over to Mckne. temporarily loses. Becky goes in out through one, two, turns around, takes a shot wide in there to back it up. Ian with the ball for Mac Whit goes through one, two, turns around, takes a shot, low post scores her fourth goal of the game. Put the Spartans back up by four. >> [laughter] >> We're up on draw again. >> Good job. 90% of the draws tonight. Ball goes up. M Whit comes away with it once again. Whitward kind of putting on the clinic of how to do draw control as we do the last two years draw club.
>> So, we currently don't have that programming. Um, we did have last year a parent who was looking to reject the students diploma so they could have additional services. Um, not having the MCCAST is a >> it's it's good and bad, right? Because that was the divide that kind of told us our students that were on more of an 18 to 22 track versus students that would graduate with a diploma. parents don't want students to leave without a diploma. So, a lot of parents are choosing that. I do feel like with the lottery, we're going to need to look relook at some of that programming, >> but right now we're really using the community and our outside resources to make sure our students are ready to leave. It's out of the academic side. >> Next. >> So, I just want to commend Tina for her work since she's been with us.
So, I guess my question would be are you thinking that that would be the the strategy we would employ, or would it be after that we would just continue on in the calendar? >> a set number of snow days built in. >> Right. >> And then, after that, once you use those, then you would say where where you would chip away at the >> Right. Correct. Okay. >> It would happen at the end of the school year. >> You would just be earlier instead of later, is that >> Unless you exhaust all five of those from vacation, too. >> Well, the snow days are just a hard stop. >> What would your What would your suggestion be as far as how many? >> Like, are we talking like seven? >> [clears throat] >> Are we talking like 10? >> Yeah, I mean, we have to have some kind of cushion in there.
