So, that was found to be a violation. The recommendation was a censure. And the second one, it was a person that had a a relative and participated in labor negotiations with the union of the administrator who supervises a child. So, again, those counts would be a violation with the recommendation of the Sunshine Sunshine Act. So, that one up top had to do with um an ethics violation against another board member. Uh only an individual can can file a school ethics school ethics violation or charge. And in this case, I believe the board filed one together. Uh and then the bottom one was a board member voting in a non-profit with the recommendation of a recommendant. This is a conflict of interest piece that you can read. Again, we would say go on and go on and look through these. Again, a board member getting involved in a personal issue.
So I'd like to know if actually that that it hasn't worked out and we should consider having three sections because they're not having those needs met. Well, look, we're going to run into the same issue next year with this group going into sixth grade, right? And math placements, you know, and a lot of it depends on how many students are going to get into the double accelerated program because then, you know, then you could be really, you know, I don't know how you would then break them into three because if five go into, you know, or six go into, now you got 36 kids in, you know, so you'd have classes of 12, you know, so you're right. I mean, it definitely is worth looking at um and it is always a every year especially in a place where, you know, you are a little smaller, like the numbers can can change every year a little bit, but I I appreciate your feedback and you certainly can look at that.
I was going to say bundle them. >> Yeah. Hold on. Let me just Okay. Okay. All right. So I will make a motion to approve the transfer of liquor license to Hanaman Data Corp. Um I would u include a motion to approve the um Hua Patel as the manager of record and approve the pledges of inventory and the liquor license to Rockland Trust Company. Second. >> Okay, >> that's that's perfect. >> Okay, >> thank you. >> That works for you, sir. >> That was great. I love it. [laughter] >> All those in favor? >> I that's 302 absent. Congratulations. We wish you the very best. >> Thank you. >> And um >> and welcome back to Ashland, too. >> Yeah, welcome to Ashland. >> And what's the timing what's the timing of everything moving forward? >> Usually, um once it gets sent to the ABCC, we'll hear back in like two to three months, just depending on how busy they are.
And so, what this article does is it goes ahead and it authorizes payments that have previously been authorized and um legally obligated uh to bondholders. Uh number one, for Oak Street, um that was a property that we acquired um quite a while ago now. Um and I believe this is the last year that we make a payment on that. Um also funding to authori- or excuse me, funding for the athletic fields, uh the bond payment associated with that. I believe that's in its second to last year. Uh so, these will fall off next year. Um and then Warren Woods, um there's a number of accounts that we utilize to help fund the Warren Woods bond payment. And then last, but not least, the Valentine property, um was also purchased partially through a bond. And so this authorizes those payments as noted in here.
Wow, I stand corrected. Five Raiders on her, she got that pass off. Yeah, that was very impressive. Nice nice play there from Meredith Larson, number five. All right, here we go. Ball is on the ground right now. Who's going to Olsen picks it up. Olsen on that sideline trying to break loose. Good speed from Olsen. Pass it to Motley now. Motley coming down. Pass to Schneider. Schneider finding Williams. Williams looking centering pass to Olsen. Olsen to Sachs to Motley. Motley looking for something here. And Spalding. 15 Motley. I like how she does those fake in the jumps. And look at that. Whistle had. Yeah, big save from Lacy nonetheless but it's going to go back and Williams is going to have a good open lane to shoot. Four pass. Pass to Hardenet to Spalding. Spalding. She's trying to get through. Good defense from Ursuline though.
So we ran it like that. We had kids come up. They had buzzers um and we ran a competition one side of the black box um with the other. Miss Grant came out dancing to the Steve Harvey uh family feud music. It was great activity to just build community. My other academy I'll do this one quicker is the Academy of Clean Energy and Green Design. So really focused on environmental sciences. We've been doing a a great job in this academy getting students out in the field and that's the big push here is we teach you about the environmental science in the classroom, but how do you get hands-on with it? So, that's students in waiters um down in the Long Island Sound looking at invasive species, a little crab called the Asian shore crab that's out competing our native our natives crab. So, these students um some of them have never done anything like this, but they're hands-on, collecting invasive species at the shore, then bringing them back to the lab, doing research on them, collecting data, and their data is actually published um nationally in science magazines and science research with Sound Waters, the group that we do it with.
Coaching. Again, this is more of a conflict of interest and benefits pieces. Conflict of interest and benefits pieces. It's always the same. Things to be very cautious about. It's more of a conflict of interest case. I'm not going to go through all of them, but again, you'll have these in your PDF that you can Um the bottom one again, it's one that I think highlights how easy it can be to inadvertently violate the code of ethics because I believe in that case they were trying to clear up something that they thought was confusing on the board agenda, but it had to do with their spouse who was an employee and they contacted the superintendent or the board president and you know, they said that even if the board member believes it to be minor, they should not be contacting the superintendent or the board president in any matter that involves their spouse.
Um, okay, so in terms of professional development, you know, um, this budget definitely supports that. Our teachers do we meet weekly in PLC time to collaborate, to plan, um, to do all of the things that we expect them to do together, either as a grade level or in their specialized areas. Uh, we will continue with BDO Consulting. That is a great opportunity for our teachers to meet with teachers in sending districts. Uh, Diane Petoskey does an amazing job of staying current, uh, you know, providing our teachers, um, with with the types of topics that they want to explore that are or that are at the forefront. Um, you know, we continue to consult with experts in specific fields where we can. Um, we've got training for our technology tools as we shift over, um, especially to new ones in terms of teacher evaluation and also if we decide to make the switch from Lincoln.
could be like 30 to 90 days. Sometimes it's kind of random, it feels like, but um once this gets passed along, the investigator will reach out to me and I'll get them any other information they need and we'll be in contact as far as that goes. >> Okay, great. >> Well, good luck. >> Great. >> Yes. >> Thank you so much. I appreciate it. The best of luck. >> All right. Thank you. >> Look forward to seeing you again. Thank you, >> Bill. Thank you again, my friend. God bless. >> Okay. Um, I did stop uh Mr. Gath from We do have a presentation at 7:45. So, we still have about 10 minutes, Bill. So, >> yeah. So, why don't we why don't we talk about the whole bench policy now? Yeah, >> we'll just move it up in the agenda and we'll talk about the bench policy.
Any questions associated with that? I'm probably going into a lot of detail, but um I just think that would probably be helpful for people. Um Article 8. Um, so this is a specific CPA purchase for um 41 Lincoln Road. Those of you that are familiar with the town forest knows it's like one big giant egg in the northern shaped like one big giant egg or oval in the northern part of the town. Um, and you will see if you look at a map, you will see a big blank space jutting right into the middle of that egg. That is a piece of property that is privately owned and that is the piece of property that we're talking about right here, which is 41 Lincoln Road. So we have conducted a couple of appraisals and have had discussions with the seller. Um and we so far have not been able to come to an agreement on a purchase price.
Hardenet. Pass it to back to Motley. Motley to Schneider. Schneider to Williams. Williams to Sachs. They're just working it all around. Another whistle. Huh? Clock running. Thank you. It's always tough. You never know. I mean we got different clock persons. Each game now. I know, right? They're all like volunteers. They pick it right up though. They do a good job. Oh no, I'm not criticizing. It's just one of those things you got to fire them every time. criticizing Cam. I was actually going to go give the compliment to our lovely Sebastian, the volunteer that used to do everything. Oh yeah. He'd do play-by-play and the clock and the this and the and he drove the bus. >> [laughter] >> That one just gets away from them. Ursuline. Wow, good interception from Schneider. Great pressure from the Raiders. Centering up to Sachs. Sachs to Williams to Hardenet.
So, they're they can actually say they're published scientific authors at this point because they've collected the data that has been used in it. Um, and then in the classroom, we've been working with our hydroponic systems and our greenhouse to get the kids hands-on again, um, learning the systems that are needed to produce foods in a sustainable way. Um, and just last week, we had our Earth Day career fair where we had about 40, uh, industry partners that are all focused on environmental science come in and talk to the students about what careers are available in the environmental science um, field. It was pretty excellent. Um we have students there. They're holding uh Asia these little hissing cockroaches. They're about this big. You wouldn't think a kid would want to hold them, but they did a great job um kind of getting involved. Uh I do run twomies and I want to shout out Alex Grant because she does a ton of work with me.
So, if you have a relative that's working or that you can't hire a relative it's basically you can have a relative that works in the district that may be conflicted in certain areas and that's because an administrator may not exercise direct or indirect authority over their relative. And then if you do have a relative that works in the district, you may not take part in employment matters concerning the superintendent or supervisors in the chain of command between your relative and the superintendent. And then the board member may not take part in a search, selection, or vote to hire a new superintendent or evaluations, post hire contract discussions, and all that. These are examples of the impact on committee assignments when you have a relative that works in the school district. So, the first one was a board president whose child was an instructional assistant. Um they could not chair the committee uh or be on any committees that remotely touched upon or directly related to their family members employment, including personnel negotiations, instructional, and finance committee.
Um, and then we do continue to use our web-based program for our cost-effective for all our state mandated trainings. It comes with our insurance. So, that's a very cost-effective way for us to do that annual mandated training from the state. Um, we continue to have our um, cost-sharing agreement to have Detective Tiffany Brown here in our building every day. That's a that's been very successful. Our security cameras, um, and related systems are still here to ensure our safety. And, you know, as Diane pointed out, we do get some money from the DOE to continue to keep those systems up and running. Just want to thank everybody for their continued support. Um, you know, I think this is a very sound budget. I want to take thank the community and our board members for everyone's input and feedback as we develop this budget. We're looking forward to 2026-2027.
I don't know if there's anybody >> I don't know if anybody else needed citizens participation. I don't know if >> see. Okay. Okay. So, what we're doing folks uh that are listening uh on on the Zoom platform, we are moving the uh bench policy uh up to this uh time frame uh where we have a few minutes to go before we have other uh presentations that are being done. And um you have what you had to Okay. Um, one of uh, we have questions that were provided uh, to us by Mr. Gath regarding uh, the donated uh, bench policy. Um, you don't mind, I'll just read this real quick. U, understands that the uh, the select board has not yet approved this. We're working on that tonight. We're discussing that tonight. Um we're asked by a former select board member uh for another bench which was audited and paid for and uh wanted to know why do we have this policy?
Because of its critical environmental habitat and then also its critical geographic relationship to the town forest. We're actually looking at taking that property if we need to by eminent domain um just to protect um the woodlands and the wetlands there and to prevent any kind of development that would potentially happen there. Um and I think personally I think it's a good purchase. That's my own opinion as well as the CPC. But um this funding would be up to $845,000 for the acquisition of that property.
Hardenet to Williams to Sachs. Schneider. Oh, tried to have a one-timer right to Spalding but now going the other way. This is Lubov. See Lubov is tough to get it from. Pass here to Mayhew. Mayhew looking for that 100. She's going to get fouled. It's a good opportunity. Now, do you think this is something that the Raiders know? Like they don't want her to get that goal. It's like a challenge if you will. Maybe. I don't even know. This could be 100. What? Good defense from Williams getting the stick on it though. It's like moral secret is like if she ain't getting that 100th on me. You know? Yeah. I mean she's playing like it. It's probably the toughest toughest goal that um Mayhew's ever going to score. This is Schneider now passing it over to Motley. Motley to Olsen. Olsen to Williams. Williams to Spalding.
So twomies is a lot. Um she does a lot of the community building stuff. So when we do the celebrations, Alex is the one pulling the data. Alex is the one um really planning those events to make it special for students, contacting homes, letting parents know how good their kids are doing, and then setting goals for the students that aren't meeting those those goals. How do we get you to be bees are better? How do we get you to be in school every day? Um so kudos to her for all that hard work. And next we have Oh, do I have one more? Oh, same thing. Right. So this is our community involvement. Thank you, Miss Teal. Um same goals we have in this academy. me the bees are better social involvement in attendance. Um and we're doing similar things um similar celebrations. Um we're doing tie dying next week with the students.
Uh The board member's spouse works in the technology department and they could not be involved in any and all matters, including service on committees that remotely touch upon or directly related to the spouse's employment, including personnel negotiations or finance committees. Um last one, the board member's domestic partner is a transportation specialist and SEC advisor that we wouldn't not to serve on the transportation committee. So, you can just see all the ways that having relative can conflict conflict you out of certain things. This is a little chart that could be helpful. I don't know where you are with negotiations, but if you are in negotiations, then you Okay. Yeah, so there's different rules. So, if you have an immediate family member that works in the district and is part of the union, then you can see on the chart there. You cannot participate in negotiations that would mean being on the negotiations committee itself or vote on the contract.
Any questions? Stacy, I know you had mentioned there should be some acknowledgement and appreciation to the effort that you tried to do with Mana Swan. Yeah. There are some sections and and the cost savings that they might incur so that they can also deal with HR issues. Diana and I are going to meet with Dr. Mr. Goodall and their BA Dr. Crowley next week. Um you know, I I shared communication with you that I had shared with him. Um and so we're going to have a lot meeting to see if there's any additional points that can be made or information that can be shared so they understand, you know, the the impact that, you know, these increases are are making it difficult, right? As as, you know, Diane said this is the first time we'd have to take a portion of the health care waiver.
