>> Yeah. >> I guess the one thing that that I would say too is um and I understand that going forward we might want to make certainly we want them all to be ADA compliant. Um and but I mean I guess my thought too was it is expensive. you're probably not going to have many people wanting to um purchase a bench in in >> memory of somebody. >> I'm [clears throat] 81 and I'm very fond of Ashlin even though I don't live here >> and I was anticipating doing some benches >> with the permission of the town but there is no way I can do it at 1500 a pop just for the engineering. >> Yeah. So, I mean, I don't know how realistic it is to, you know, to consider whether or not these numbers could be in some way reduced or is there someplace that we could have benches that were are less expensive that would work or I mean, those are just some questions I had about it.
Here's Lubov again. Lubov passes the Oh, Raskin. Couldn't quite reel it in. Now it's in Moral's stick. A good defense by the Raiders. Good Moral, she she usually throws really good passes. I've heard a lot from goalies they just like really thread the needle on some great like breakout passes. Yeah. No, it's uh a good quality to have as a gold tender. Yeah, good trait. Hartnett fires a pass up to Schneider. Schneider now to Spalding. Spalding trying to go in. Great defense though, but she's still working it and goal! Spalding. Spalding had a real nice stutter step right there to kind of get by the defense. >> Mhm, yeah, number one Payton Knight was all over her and I thought she initially uh made the stop and Spalding just stuck with it and made a fantastic play and a good goal. Yeah, so now it's 16 to 8 with just under 7 minutes left in regulation.
Um, so if anyone has any questions of any, I know now is not the time, but please, you know, feel free to reach out to to myself or Dan and the directors about anything or if you have a thought or a connection or a relationship that we could um leverage, not not exploit, leverage. Um, so I'm going to turn it over to Dan to um close it out for us. >> I think now you can see why we only brought half here tonight. Uh, remember there's four other ones that were very eager to get here as well. uh to kind of show you what they've been doing. It's it's been a lot of work to get where we are now. Um but we're going to continue going. Everything seems to be trending in the right direction. You're starting to get a feel in both schools as we exit an awesome class of 2026 and are fully wallto-wall with everybody in an academy.
You can take it through the chain of command, take it up to the board, take it all the way to the DOE if you want to in your parent capacity. You just can't um you just keep it separate from your role as a board member. Um refrain from using your campaign or social media pages for a little bit beyond campaign season right now, but for future, if you have a board member campaign page, which a lot of people do now, we do recommend that once you're elected, to stop using it because inevitably people will think you're posting as a board member or on behalf of the So, we recommend that you refrain from using it uh once you're a board member. And then, if you are an administrator of a social media page, like a community page, you could be linked to the content that's posted on that page and so on.
So, um that was a great event for the Booster Club. And our spring field trips are underway. We're seeing a lot of buses showing up and and taking kids to the you know, the trips that their teachers have been planning. Um and you know, as as Mrs. Reed said, you know, now until you know, June, there's just seems like there's something every week. We have an author visit at the end of this week. Our third graders are at the library today. So, you know, just a very lively spring and just thank you to everyone. Our teachers, um parents, PTO, um everyone who contributes to making it such a great spring and end to the school year. Thank you. Yeah, I've very excited um students coming home like every day. There's something with the tree, with a report from a trip, so. Um okay. Uh no HIV reports it looks like.
It it did seem like it would be nice to have something that was a little more affordable, too. I mean, you know, maybe there are certain locations where we absolutely need to have these benches benches and maybe there's nothing else less expensive that we can really consider, but I that was just what I wondered about. >> I would ask each of you to observe the one at the post office. It's been there a number of years. >> And I'm wondering if there's other things besides benches that that could be appropriate um remembrances for for people as well. Yeah, that's true, too. >> Bike wrecks. >> A clock. No >> clock. >> Yeah, >> that needs to be repaired. >> Then you have to spray it for ticks. [laughter] >> Stop it. >> I thank the board for their consideration. >> Thanks. Thanks, Bill. Appreciate it.
So, yeah, Spalding's one of those freshmen too that is just an amazing talent. Yeah, she had an older sister that went through the program. Really good on the basketball and lacrosse Yeah. >> as well. Let's see, it was Riley. It was. It was. >> Yeah. Yeah, she was good. She even volunteered for a minute. And then after the minute she didn't volunteer again. After they it generally is like once they get the minutes they need, they'll never volunteer again. Yeah, cuz we Oh, look at that. Williams just going wide on that. Yeah, we offer um Sorry, you continue saying what you were saying. Volunteer hours or Community service. Community service through volunteering. Mhm. And as you know, Dover-Sherborn has a mandatory 40 hours, I think, for the to graduate as a senior. You are correct. All right, well, I said it pretty loosely. The only reason I knew you were correct was cuz Sienna was nodding her head, so.
I think you'll see it coming a little further. Um as uh you know, Dr. Martin said the one thing that you know the expectation is that maybe you're not going to understand every aspect of thesemies but we we kind of end with this one is why we do it. Uh you know if you tell me I forget you teach me I remember you involve me I learn. So we're involving kids in what's going on. We're involving them in the process of learning. We're involving them in decision making within the school through the instructional rounds that they're invited to. Uh and and that's where we're going from here. So uh with that, thank you all very much for having us and we look forward to bringing the other four at a different time. Thank you. >> So thank you Danbury High School staff. Absolutely phenomenal. Um there the number and of opportunities that are being created for students right now.
Talk about that a little bit. These are all of our resources, the relative shark chart that I gave you, link to the School Ethics Act, some frequently asked questions, advisory opinions, and a link to the School Ethics Commission website, so you can go to all of those websites and read about all sorts of ethical decisions.
Uh so, that brings us to action items. Uh curriculum and programs. Uh Mrs. Reed, will you Sure. I'd like to make a motion to that the Board of Ed approve the following um staff members to uh attend workshops at A1 and then going all the way through A6. I'll second that. Mrs. Portanova? Yes. Mr. Becker? Yes. Dr. D'Ambrosio? Yes. Mrs. Hutt? Yes. Mrs. McDevitt? Yes. Mrs. Reed? Yes. Mrs. Wolfe? Yes. Mr. Wolfe? Yes. Motion yes. Great. Uh for district operations, um Dr. D'Ambrosio? I'd like to put forth items B1 through B13. Second. Mrs. Portanova? Yes. Mr. Becker? Yes. Dr. D'Ambrosio? Yes. Mrs. Hutt? Yes. Mrs. McDevitt? Yes. Mrs. Reed? Yes. Mrs. Wolfe? Yes. Mr. Wolfe? Yes. Motion yes. Okay, for human resources, Mrs. Hutt, will you Please read these four. I would like to make a motion that the Board approve items D1 through D4.
>> Appreciate it. >> Do we want to take a vote on this tonight? I just think we have too many questions, though. >> Yeah, I I kind of feel like we >> Yeah, we can we can wait. >> Okay. All right. So, we're going to we'll table this for another meeting until we get we get answers to the questions that were asked and see if we can tweak the policy to some some degree when it comes to some of the figures that that are up engineering. >> Yeah, I think this was mainly to um excavate excavate that sounds major. Um but to dig and then to pour the concrete pad and put the forms up and stuff. >> Pouring concrete. >> Okay. Good discussions with them >> where the people have >> true. Okay. Thank you. Thank you, Mr. Gath. Thank you, everybody. All right.
That confirms it. >> [laughter] >> That's That definitely confirms it. All right, Molly with it. Passes to Olsen. Right to Williams. Oh, hits the top bar. Scooped up though from Olsen. Olsen passes Sachs. Sachs quickly to Molly. Molly to Schneider. Schneider to Hartnett. Hartnett up to Williams. Molly. To Schneider. Oh, here comes Williams. Um, she's going to get a foul called on her. We got 4:50 left to go in the fourth quarter here. 16 to 8. Raiders in the lead. And nice save from Lacey. Sachs with it. Nice save. Once again, Hartnett scoops it up though. Hartnett bringing it back. Pass to Schneider. Schneider to Molly. Molly centering pass. Oh, and what a goal from Spalding. Great pass from Molly. Yeah, so I mean just I mean, I was just going to say it's just crazy this freshman class here. They just they already got crazy chemistry.
It's it's absolutely incredible. and um you know to the directors who are taking charge and really leading those places um and spaces creating spaces for kids to learn um just amazing the programming I don't think anybody really realizes how deep this programming will go and and where it's going but um I think we have a glimpse of what the future looks like and so thank you very much and Dan and Meg and Alexandra and um and Karina you know the amount of work that goes into building systems and structures around this type of learning um is is is intense and your leadership has been key. So I just want to thank you uh for all the hard work everybody. Thank you so much. Lauren, can you do public participation for me?
And again, you can contact us if you have any questions. Us, or attorney, everybody. We have an attorney of the day that you can call that can give you legal information. That's 16. Uh D16 for approval. I'll second. Mrs. Reed. Do you want me to add that? And this is Fort Lee, now? Yes. This is Decker? Yes. Okay. And you're Brown, too? >> Yes. This is Stack? Yes. This is Nick Deven? Yes. This is Weeks? Yes. This is Walsh? >> Yes. This is Wolf? Yes. Ocean, yes. Wonderful. All right, that brings us to visitors business. Uh visitors are permitted to comment on agenda and non-agenda items at this time. Again, just please state your name and address. Go go right ahead. Yep. Uh George 636 East Allendale. Uh full disclosure, I'm heading up a citizens committee to help the town council on this whole borough hall issue. Not here to get into that right now, but I'd like a comment or an explanation. I'm going to read a sentence from a memo that was posted on the borough council website on March 20th, I think it was.
Moving right along. Uh 7:45 and we're 7:46. We're almost there. Uh, Ashelan Cultural Council presentation on traffic box projects. And I see Miss Breznik here. Donna, if you would be so kind to come on up. Tara's not going to be uh or is she on? >> No, just you. >> That's That's good enough. >> What can I say? >> Is your Is your presentation uh available? >> You have it. Okay, great. >> Is mine available? You have it, right? Yeah, we have it. Yeah. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. >> Just wanted to make sure so that way folks back home that are watching can see it as well. >> Right. So, um the Ashlin Cultural Council um has a dream and our dream is to have um decorated traffic boxes in town. Um, I personally have seen them in many towns in Massachusetts and thought this would be a wonderful idea for our town as well.
And as you saw there, it was like um Molly to Spalding, both freshmen. >> Molly's in here because Laskau is out if I'm Yep. not mistaken. So, it's really um a light at the end of the tunnel cuz Laskau is a senior. Yeah, so this freshman class right now, they got Bryn Collum. They got Quinn Kramer. They got Sophia Molly. They got Waverly Spalding. They have Elizabeth Williams. Caitlyn Lynch. And Iya Abrams. Yeah, that's a whole team right there. Those are the ones I'm I know, The one thing that I'm wondering is who is going to replace Moral? That's a very good question, Cam, cuz Sure, JV's working on Yes, there is a goalie on the sideline that Sienna just pointed out. Oh, and a good defense from Luboff there making a stop to Nora. Yeah, who is that? >> [screaming] >> Nice turnaround shot right there by Olson.
The board welcomes public participation and ask that speakers please limit their comments to three minutes. Speakers may offer objective comments of school operations and programs that concern them. The board will not permit any expression of personal complaints or defamatory comments about board of education personnel and students nor against any person connected with the Danbury public school system. Thank you. We have one person signed up, Ron Seer. Hey, how's it going? My name is Ron Simper from Five Ducks Academy. We are a children's educational and entertainment company based in Danbury. Uh through our company, we have a bunch of children's programming. We also do a summer camp right here in Danbury called Camp Five Ducks. We're going on our sixth year. We also create a lot of children's educational and just entertaining music for kids. All positive music for kids. And we have a song out right now that's reached over 12 million streams over all platforms.
So, we are very, very appreciative of what you do and all of your time. Now, any questions about ethics? All right. Well, thank you so much. I hope you have a great meeting. Good luck with your budget. We know it's a difficult budget year this year, but we wish you the best of luck as you try to do the best that you can for your students, and I will see you at the county meeting next week, and I hope to see all of you at the county meeting next week. Um but I hope to see you soon, and feel free to reach out if you need anything. Thank you. >> Mhm. >> All right, everybody. Let's get restarted. We are at this point, I believe up to our superintendent's report, Dr. Freeman. Uh the floor is yours. Okay, good evening, everybody, and welcome to our April board meeting.
It says, um "Certain alternatives that have been suggested are not viable. Board of Education has indicated that it's not interested in hosting borough's regular meetings, including borough council, planning board, recreation committee, and environment commission meetings. Accordingly, school facilities do not provide a realistic long-term alternative for municipal operations." Yeah, that sounds right. >> Yeah, I was going to say, yes. Yeah, that was the Board of Education I guess I mean, more or less, that's I wouldn't say not interested, but we the Board of Education doesn't think it's feasible or uh a good idea to have all of those meetings in the school facility. Why? Uh resources purposes, um security concerns, um financial concerns for sure. Uh so, yeah, those big And the the blending the blending of the of school and municipal, um yeah, meetings and goings-on. Like, our budget is not the municipal budget. We are not one in the same.
