Um, not that I'm aware of. And I I'm imagining until until the housing shortage in the state and across the United States is kind of mediated a bit. I doubt there'll be too much um changes on that. I do want to say that maybe a year and a half ago, the select board and planning board, I believe had a joint session to talk about housing in general. And my hope would be at some point after our housing production plan is done and spile with the state and I don't know exactly where that is in status. It may be a good idea at some point as the implementation committee for the comprehensive plan starts to work on the comprehensive plan. I'm sure this board together with the select board will come back to ideas of housing and implementing both the housing production plan and the comprehensive plan.
>> So, it's going to be Adam Caldwell at the plate. RBI single his first time up. He was part of that strand of hits against Bradica last inning. has a chance to bring home a couple more runs here. Corners in for the Clockers. >> Here's the first pitch. >> A good pitch. Strike one. >> Interesting. The coach called for a bunt this early in the game to get the runners in scoring position. You know, especially given how successful they were in the first inning. They didn't put the batters up. All these batters have been getting hits. Why not let them hit? >> That's a strike. >> That's a little inside. Yeah, >> Caldwell definitely thought it was inside as well. >> I I thought he was going to hit him over that it was it was so inside, but >> we'll take the strike. >> Nothing in two.
So it's it's good to see him buckling down like this. >> Ahead one two. That's a shot into left field. Lame goes back and he makes the catch. >> Good swing there from Reagan. >> One out for Bradica. >> Yeah, good job there. Ball was Lame had to run back a little bit, a little bit to his right, but um was wasn't too difficult of a catch and he just took care of it. Exactly exactly what he needed to do. >> Bradica will now face Ben Price, the best hitter in this lineup, add batting 400. He's got three of their seven total extra base hits as a team. Also a great pitcher. He immediately lines one into left field on the first pitch. He sees and a one out single for Ben Price. Didn't wait around at all. >> No, he just jumped right on that first pitch.
And what's really great about strategic planning is it it's supposed to bring the community together. You know, sometimes I'm just being honest as someone who used to be on a school board and just a member of the public, sometimes it's hard to get enough opportunities where voices are heard and the strategic planning was a great opportunity, especially in these times, um financially and otherwise right now. We know we're in a a very tough era. Um it was a great opportunity um to kind of have a a reset and kind of a new direction. Okay, this is where we are right now. Where do we want to be in the next 3 4 5 years? And we need to do it collaboratively collaboratively and that's part of the purpose of strategic planning. Um great stakeholder participation. Again, you know, you always want to have more people come, but the 60 who came, um they were the ones who really got to to shape this document and really get to shape um the direction that Isham's going to go over the next 3 4 5 years and I really appreciate that.
However, uh we will need to um approve the consent agent agenda as amended. Okay. All right. Thank you. Welcome, President Zeter. You're right on quue for the president's statement. If you need a moment, good evening everyone. I apologize for my tardy days. Um, first, okay, got my workout running up the stairs. Um, first of all, the on behalf of the board, we strongly want to um thank member Jamber, former member Jabber for his contribution the past three years as board member. So, we wish him nothing but the best for him and his family. That being said, we also want to thank the 18 applicants who have applied for the open board position. We will be um having someone come forward with the oath on May 6. So, we are excited to that person will present. Um kind of I was running up the stairs. That being said, it's always hard when you have that many people that apply.
for these reasons, I would like to nominate them for at least employee award. So, that's nice to hear uh from somebody outside uh of the the district uh recognizing the efforts and the hard work um by some of our student athletes and coaches. The only other thing I'll mention is I was able to attend both Southwoods prom a couple weeks ago and then Northfield's prom last weekend. Uh very nicely done. uh just want to uh thank the prom sponsors that participate in that. I know parents also play a role in that as far as the afterp prom is concerned. That was a little past my bedtime so I didn't go to any after but u going there and just seeing that the time and effort that they put into to provide a good experience for our students uh is nice and you know I see a lot of the same faces there when I go to Southfield Prom and go to North Oak Prom which is interesting.
Any opposed? All right. School recognition. Yeah, yeah, just have a couple of things here uh to mention. Uh this one comes from Melissa Ball at Central Office. I just like to extend a special thank you to Ron Nordman for his invaluable support in opening Oak Field High School's building classrooms and facilities for the 3-day pre-service class that's required to obtain a CDL Class B with S and P endorsements. Ron and his team went above and beyond assisting with trash, ensuring the building was accessible, and being present throughout the process so others could successfully use our facility for this important training. Their willingness to help and commitment to support the transportation program is truly appreciated. That was That was done over spring break. So, that was uh an offering that the state came in and and provided uh pre-service class trainings for those that were wanting to obtain that licensure.
So I don't know Mark if what you're asking is what are we doing to sort of address the housing crisis? I would say those are some of the things we have done recently. comprehensive plan, housing production plan, and I'm confident we'll have to do more as we implement both. >> Yeah, that's true. There was that uh housing meeting. I think it was longer ago than that because I think it pre it was before the the comprehensive plan. But um but now that the comprehensive plan is complete and the housing production plan is almost complete. I'm not sure about that date that date either. We seem to have all the tools we should need to talk more about housing and how to, you know, how we can create it and hopefully control it in a way that's good for Ashland. And [clears throat] the followup question is is basically until things can work out better and even are the planning board because you're here.
Big spot here for Bradica. >> He would love a K. >> Pops straight up on the infield. >> Shriber will call off Clark and he makes the catch. >> No chance of uh doubling up on or tacking up on that. >> A good job from Bradica there. So he gets out number two and then we come back to that bunt there. A guy who was one for one with a single. You hit that first out on the bunt and now you got two outs and you need a hit to bring home these runners. >> Yeah, >> Logan Irish is one for one. >> He's one for one as well. Single his first time. That one gets away. Here comes the run and it'll score. Yep. No, no throw. Reagan comes home. A great read. It barely got away there from Guyro, but Norton will add on as Price gets down to third.
It was uh like a fast ball like on on the high side of um the middle of the plate and he just ripped it right through uh the hole. Little bit high I think for anybody to catch right there. There was a good line drive to the outfield. >> Chris has done a great job too of keeping runners on first base being a lefty pitcher. I >> think he's had a he has a couple of pickoffs. I think you've seen more games than I have. But he's got a great move to first base and hopefully I expect the Norton team would know that about Chris. >> But Norton, a team that does run and they run efficiently. Many of their players have not been caught stealing yet. That is just outside. It's a ball and a strike to Ezekiel Ferraro, batting 207 so far this season.
One of the great things and I think as you're learning that um with the budget, um we're entering an era where you're expected to do more than ever before with less than ever before. And what this process will help do is really give the school board and the district, okay, here is a North Star document that we're going to try to follow and adhere to. While we we we know we have limited resources, and the resources that we do have, we are going to do everything in our power to ensure that they are going to support this new strategic plan over the next 5 years. Because inevitably as time goes along, there's a lot of voices in town, there's a lot of ideas, there's a lot of opinions. Some want to go left, some want to go right, some want to go in another direction.
It's a good problem to have. When we've had previous openings, we've had upwards of two dozen. This time we had 18. What we strongly encourage is there are 17 people who are going to be told no. Um, but this at the end of this semester, our two-year committees commitments are up and Lisa Pendilski will be sending forth information to the entire community to participate in those committees. And that is sometimes um not always but that is sometimes how we have gotten to see all that people can bring to the table. So those three committees are education, student support and development and then our building and finance. So we still are so pleased and proud of all of the contributions people make. Your voices are heard every day and we want you to feel that you have a voice and that is a way for anyone to do so.
Everybody has different dresses on and so I can't imagine that the money that's being spent for some of that stuff. But anyway, I just wanted to thank them for their efforts regardless to prom. I'll ask M since Mr. Snider's here if there's anything he has on his end. >> Not really. Everything was going good. >> Okay. >> Just have some new teachers here. >> We'll get to that in a little bit. >> That prom's over though. >> Yes. I I I move that schools should move that start time up so that after prom doesn't go so late as a parent. >> Well, that's all voluntary. >> You know, you got to be like high on caffeine or something. Stay away till 2:00. Anyway, it was very enjoyable. I appreciate those kids and you're all good kids up in the program. All right, public comment, agenda items only.
Um and then lastly, on May 7th, Dr. will be recognized as the Region 5 School Business Official of the Year at the Indiana Association of School Business Officials' annual meeting in French Lick, Indiana. So. It's all I have for recognition >> Congratulations, Dr. Thank you. >> Awesome. Tomorrow. Yeah. Um I guess moving on to the next Yeah, I guess we're moving on to the next Wigen. topic here uh is our presentation here uh and and asked Wigen to come and kind of share an update on where they're at with the north projects. Uh I guess I can show the video first probably and go from there. >> Very high quality videos. No, I'm just playing. Wake up. What's wrong? >> Yeah, I think so. The biggest milestone for us since the last one is expedited schedule. I think we've done We discussed it, but
Are your hands still tied because of that reason? >> Are our hands tied? because the state is is using the the U state housing authority and and shortage of housing. They're using that and saying towns towns going to have to kind of converge, but they go by our the state our regulations, not the towns. Is this board's tied to that? Well, I guess as always, the board needs to follow both the local Ashlin bylaws when they apply and state law when it applies. So, we are bound by both of those factors. Think sometimes people think that the planning board can just reject things out of hand and and and we we can't do that. We have to follow the bylaws and and the state laws. Um so um are we bound by those things? Sure. Of course we are because they're the laws >> and the bylaws of this town is being in some points are being overrun by the state laws.
4 nothing Lancers. >> Irish at is actually the second uh >> best pitcher on the team in terms of erra >> and gets to relax today. He doesn't have to pitch. He just concentrate on being up at the plate. >> He'll foul that one away. A ball and a strike. So, the pass balls have become a little bit of an issue. Lost yesterday's game on a pass ball and a run comes in here with two outs and you know, ball didn't get too far from Guo, but a great read from Reagan >> to come sprinting home >> and they seem to be a very good base running team >> as that's a strike. >> One ball, two strikes here to Irish, >> two outs. Yeah. Faulers really need to go. >> Don't want to see anything any base hits here. Turn into a run or a pass ball.
>> He's driven home seven runs. >> I think Price on first base is also one of the leaders in division three for stolen bases. >> As Bradica will check on him. Yeah, he's in 10 games he's stolen eight bags on eight attempts. >> So, a big job behind the plate today for freshman Owen Guo. Usually we've seen Ryan Pasawqua behind the plate, but Guall will get the go today. >> One-1 swing and a miss. >> Jacob, have you seen any put outs on the on steals? I haven't seen all the games, so I the few I've seen I haven't seen um a throw down the second. I honestly I honestly don't think I have seen a single put out from either side, you know, in games that I've done without you. Uh it's been a lot of a lot of um pass balls and uh not a lot of opportunity to throw it, but I don't believe I've seen anyone get caught stealing as Price will go here.
And this document is going to be something that the board can say, "Hey, we partnered with the community, we put a lot of work into it. This is something that we're going to really see through." And it really is the responsibility of the school board to ensure that it is followed through over these next few years. Some of the components of it, um the the first night back at September 15th, it feels like a very long time ago already, the beginning of the school year. The first night we had the community out, Dr. Smith gave a great kind of like state of the district, um gave a wonderful overview of just all of the happenings, a lot of the numbers, the inside look from the staff to the the children, to the great programs, to the budget, and whatnot. And then we had a conversation of where are we now?
So we look forward to that information coming forward. So, with that being said, I will now turn it over to communications. And we have our student school board student representatives. Hi, good evening. Our T-Bolt family has continued to raise sparks to finish this academic year strong with some achievements highlighting our building. This April, Andrew's clubs honored autism awareness and ArabAmerican Heritage Month. Additionally, for Earth Day, students participated in fun enrichments in the greenhouse and learned about more about raising awareness and ways to make a positive impact on our environment. Our guidance department and college and career center have put on various post-secondary events this month to assist students in selecting their future college or careers of choice. First, our guidance March Madness event provided an opportunity for T-Bolts to meet with representatives and admissions counselors from colleges from all across the country. Additionally, the junior college night provided accessibility to students and families to connect with admissions counselors on April 1st and decision day celebrations for our seniors will take place tomorrow.
If not, we will move on to our agenda items. Uh, can I get a motion, second to approve our regular meeting minutes on April 14th? >> So move. >> Second. >> No. Motion, second to approve those meeting minutes. All in favor say I. >> I.
