And we finally, we have Khloe Mclofflin, who will be studying at Northwestern under a premed his or a chemistry track. And we are incredibly proud of all three of them. That's all I got for y'all. Thank you. All righty. Staying on topic. Staying on topic. I'm feeling good. Uh, top 1enters, come on up. Chloe just did a lap for us here. So, we're officially entering please don't go season. Tomorrow's May, but like you some of these seniors events and it's just in my brain the whole time like, oh my gosh, please don't go because we just have so many truly truly outstanding students. So, uh, each of these students finished in the top 1% of their class. They've done great things at Samberg and gosh darn it, there's a lot of great things ahead in their futures. So, um, first up, uh, earning her top 1% recognition is Moram Hishme.
It was all supportive. Um, I think as we're saying that her main concern, she read some things that included readings that were critical or made you question things about America or about Thanksgiving and she just wanted to make sure that our teachers presented a balanced outlook and maintain that patriotic experience. And I assure her that I know talking to Jay and Amber that that is not going to be a problem. And so I think it's worth saying that that is our community and our culture. We're proud of our country. That doesn't mean we do it blindly, but we do appreciate it. And so yeah. Uh and so she looked over all that stuff and gave us good feedback. Um and so I will be presenting. I see here on the agenda only one aspect of that got through, but we've presented all of those. So, we'll do into literature, the art of public speaking, and then there's a novels list, too, that's on the back of my sheet.
I that's my two cents. >> No, I agree. That's where I'm sitting too. It's just like I said, it just feels uh >> we need a little guidance from you Jasmine because I think the board is a bit perplexed as to whether we have jurisdiction to actually view this as a complete application for an ANR. >> I would also recommend putting it to council, but in my experience, you need all signatures of all owners. >> That would make the application incomplete, in which case seems like we at this prematurely. >> That's what I'm hearing. >> No, no, that's that said, which I agree with. But in the application, >> just um Jasmine, in your review of this, um is there any does the does the divide dividing of the properties follow all the bylaws? >> It does. The larger lot obviously doesn't meet the rule of 22, but it's not a buildable lot.
Last couple games. I don't even know who's controlling it, but we'll take it. >> Yeah. Yeah. Who I wonder who the mystery scoreboard person is. >> Oh, one of the coaches are actually doing something. Always nice to take Digs a coach. Great great coaching staff here. >> Definitely. >> So coming have uh Austin Trunk Cliff who's a junior. >> Yep. >> Righty batter. >> Yeah. More lefties than righties in the clocker lineup today. >> Yeah. >> With no Grumb Bum >> playing. >> Ian McCoy who bats ninth. will hit from the left side as well. >> A little bit of advantage then to the lefty pitcher >> definitely facing Ashlin because you know you always have a a slight advantage go going to you know same same side >> batter. So that's why in the majors you often see a lot of guys who aren't allstar caliber lefties get plat platooned for with righty batters right >> when lefties are on the mound.
>> That's Price who grounds it. Nice play by Clark. Do they get the out? >> They don't. >> Calling him saved. The the throw over was just a little bit out of the reach of Michael Shriber coming in the second. >> So Ben Price will reach backto back base runners. We'll see if they give that a hit or an error there. Might be a fieldielder's choice. They'll call it an error. I was going to mention Ben Price, lefty on the mound, righty at the plate. Fun fact for you, there's no current MLB players who bat righty and throw lefty. I saw that this morning and it applies here to Price as they'll show bunt pull it back. >> It's an interesting stat, >> right? >> Yeah. >> See it the other way around all the time. >> Yeah, there's a lot of guys who bat lefty throw right.
Each sub-team had two or three members, worked on a designated objective. And then we met as a whole team to review the work. What we found going through was And this is probably a natural outcome of having the different committees working in is that there was some overlap or redundancy among the um the goals and the objectives. And to make it um more successfully manageable, we we polished out some of that redundancy, kept the meat, um which you can see this all this is going to be on our website tomorrow. So, uh, for anyone who wants to go in there, there's a crosswalk showing, um, you know, the, uh, objectives and how where they ended up in the wording of the, um, the polished objectives as well as, um, in the action plans themselves since as, uh, as administrators we were working to make sure that, um, the the wording and the, uh, intent behind the objectives was, um, baked into the action plans.
She's headed to the University of Illinois Chicago to look at integrated studies on a pre-med track. Also here tonight is Miss Delaney May is part of our 1%. Round of applause for Delaney. Delaney's headed to Notre Dame to study accounting. Also, Ava Rooks is in our top 1%. Round of applause for Ava. She's headed to see uh to study bioengineering ill. Hopefully, she be traveling to some final fours in the next few Aprils as well. So, round of applause. Also recognized uh tonight that they couldn't be here were Sarah Curry, Sam Lee, and Neil Patel for also earning top 1% status. Round of applause for our Sams 1enter. Glad you got your gym shoes on there, Mr. Dr. Both of us combined. is he he's not doing the advisory that was just in there. Got it. Okay. Okay. Good evening and welcome back to Andrew High School.
And so, just remember, we have a long list of already approved novels. These are just newer novels that teachers wanted to update or change. And so, we just add those to that list. It's not like we're redo the list every um Yeah.
So that not being a buildable that is part of what makes it not a buildable lot is that it doesn't meet the rule of 22. So you would be allowed to approve this plan as it >> because it's labeled and that's partial A. >> Exactly. >> Because it's labeled not a buildable lot because it doesn't have the frontage. So it's you can't just put a single family house there and call it >> exactly >> call it day. Okay. So it's labeled appropriately. Um, and the um the house back here is that um is that uh conforming? Does that sit back from the property line? Because we can't create that's existing, >> right? >> In its existing condition, it's pre-existing non-conforming. It's also condemned. So, it has to come down. >> Yeah. No, it but but I I think it's just that also it's like it's a non it's not considered a building lot.
But we'll see how it goes in the third against Price. Turniff will ground one to first base. Ferraro will toss to Price and he's out. And Turniff does not agree with that. It was a close play. Ferraro looked like he wanted to take it to the bag there, but Turniff was hustling down the line. >> Yeah, Price got right there in front of him. I think he was going to go to the bag himself and Price came down. Great job by Price though. I mean, for a pitcher to have the wherewithal to race over there that quickly, uh, you know, for a high school player is, you know, the right thing to do. It turns into one out. Now, Ian McCoy on the second pitch of the inning grounds it to second and the throw is in time. Kapagna at second base. Two pitches and two soft ground ball outs for Ben Price.
>> Lefty throwers, especially positioned players, much less pitchers, are very tough. >> Ollie Lo. Exactly. Ferraro will show bunt again pull it back. >> He's one for one as well. >> Had a single his first time up. >> Interesting here. Now most of the games we've seen Jar Jared Rumblong playing second base and today you know Clark was in I don't know if the error is going to get charged to him on that throw. I don't know how much practice he's had over there at second. Um, it was a sharply hit ball. It was just, you know, to a little bit off on the toss there. I thought it it was likely to be a double play, but >> and Jared Grim did inform me pregame that he would not be playing in today's game. So, don't expect his name to be called as that's a great punt.
So, there were two though that we, um, weren't able to really develop, um, the, uh, establish reasonable class sizes based on research to maximize student success and hire certified mental health providers to provide direct support for staff and students. Uh, that those are tough just because they're so budget dependent that it's, um, it's it's it's just not, um, a feasible, uh, plan to base something on such a, um, dynamic variable as, um, budget resources. So, and then I'm going to pass it over to Ms. We'll talk about goal area number one, student achievement and success. Thank you. Okay, um, so as Dr. Smith said, we did kind of look at all the different goal areas, objectives, everything that was developed and really saw one overarching umbrella as it related to, uh, student achievement and success. So, we really capped that as like the one big goal area and then came up with kind of a statement about that really to increase student achievement, enhance overall success in order for students to reach their unique potential.
It is my honor to start with our uh state deca. I wanted to just congratulate come on down Mrs. Dold as well as our DECA students. Mrs. Debold oversees our business department here, math and business department at Andrew High School. DECA is the student professional skills for various uh areas in business at the state level. With us today is Miss Avery Seams who came in fourth place for sports and entertainment marketing operations research. Also congratulations to Miriam Shael who is fourth in state for sports and entertainment marketing operations research. Jonathan Orrigo also fourth in state for entrepreneurship series. Hot off the press. Jonathan just traveled home yesterday from nationals receiving a silver badge at competency at nationals. Congratulations to Victor J. Andrews DECA state champion. All three just came back from Atlanta yesterday. So, they're here, which is wonderful. And they were all in school and on time, ready to learn. How about that?
So, I guess this would be a good time if you have any questions about that or the process. Uh I I told Jay's teachers uh that they're getting hired at the right time because we're starting new curriculum. Uh and one of them said she was familiar with this. This was the same one that Peru had chosen. Glory Gloria said this and so um so that other schools around this ch it's on the ID approved list and all. So then I also pointed out we have uh we have an explosion of dual credit offerings with our retirees. We don't always bring in teachers that have same master level credential that can teach dual credit. Um Jay actually brought in one that is going to get close to offering that >> we'll do it here. >> She has to get into that. So that means we'll be offering IU dual credit at Northfield.
I know in the past when we've had a structure along a property line um that was non-conforming, we're not allowed to create a non-conforming lot, right? >> Well, there's an exe an exemption for that under 81L, but that's we're not going there. >> Yeah. So, it may not be it may not be applicable here, but I know I know in the past we haven't been allowed to create to create a lot that's non-conforming. >> We did have to have a special note on a drawing. >> There are certain circumstances that could happen, but others that it won't. >> I'm just trying to see what's on here that besides this question of ownership >> that we need to maybe get well, you know, while we're asking town council that let's ask her all the questions that we have, right? And ask them all at one time.
>> I didn't realize how fast McCoy is. I mean, he I just saw him fly down that line. He's he's speedy. Come on, Ollie. >> Great, great job by the fielders to get him out because he uh you know, >> he was grimacing after walking to the dugout there. He's holding his hand. >> Don't know if he >> hit the bat, the ball on the bat in a bit of an uncomfortable place. A lot of times that can sting a little bit. >> Hopefully he's all right. as it's two and0 to Ollie Laro who bats for the second time when you get to the top of the lineup. He's 0 for one. >> Finally back to the top of the lineup. That's good. >> Yeah, >> it's only the fifth pitch of the inning for Price, but it's three and0. >> This looks like a rerun of uh the first time Oley was up where Price came to go low.
Laro slides and makes an excellent play. And the throw to first is in time. But a good job by Ferraro. He gets both the runners into scoring position. So, it's second and third with one out. >> Couldn't ask for a better bunt there. >> No, it laid down the perfect bunt, but was also fielded wonderfully. I mean, Laro came in, as you said, you know, came in on the slide, picked the ball up, Clark came over exactly the way he should throw space, perfect throw, perfectly on time. And so, from a fielding perspective, it didn't lead to more problems like sometimes punts do. >> So, it's going to be Adam Caldwell at the plate. RBI single. his first time up. He was part of that strand of hits against Bradica last inning. >> Has a chance to bring home a couple more runs here. Corners in for the Clockers.
Cuz every single one had flavors about that and as Justin said over there that we want it all to be about kids, right? So, within that, five different objectives were fleshed out into action plans. The first objective connected with curriculum instruction and really related to the overall core programming. Um so, again, the objective in that area strengthen curricular programming in all areas that were inclusive of state national standards, best practice, and data analysis, which was reflected throughout. The second big area was related to MTSS. So, where kids aren't or having struggles with some of the core programming, now we're going to take a deeper dive and look at So, how can we help them prior to any kind of special education? So, that's our multi-tiered system of supports. So, the objective for that particular one build capacity within the MTSS process to deliver data-driven, evidence-based interventions that are monitored and responsive to the different student needs.
Okay. I just have to ask, are the jackets new this year? Because they are sharp. Everybody looks so professional. Did we have those last year? So, well, they they are standing out tonight. So, you're looking very professional in your Deca world. Yes. All of you. Thank you. Thank you. Congratulations to all of you. I don't remember them. Up next are the smart of the smart of Victor J. Andrew High School, our top 1%. I am honored to start and cheer with you. Coming off baseball, coming off soccer track. They are coming. I told them come as is. Just come. So, we're excited they're here. Kicking us off is Drew Alexander. Uh, Drew, he is going to Indiana University Bloomington to major in finance with a potential minor in AI. Congratulations, Drew. Claire Carney is going to the University of Dayton to major in mechanical engineering.
Probably not this year. So this year's group's going to kind of have to take the AP route. Next year they'll have the choices. Uh, but all three of those there are at Southwood. Actually, Payton's at both, North and South. >> Uh, but Jessica Jones calculus, of course, at Northfield, Jessica Brewbaker. No, Hannah, thank you. Hannah Brewaker is already doing dual credit calculus, but when Rob Cole retired, it took us a while to build that up. Jessica's doing that. And you can see Kim Mc is moving to chemistry. So, usually their courses are free through IU. Um, IU has its own set of grants that they cover that. We as a district try to help cover books and other incidental fees to encourage people to do that because we really like it when you can offer those great credit options. Really thankful for those teachers and I expect next year to have probably another two or three on a really good fortunate fortunate for Jada.
