Going back on >> and Luzon makes the catch. >> Nine. Let's go. Good swing. Yeah, it it's hard to tell just how deep. These guys look like they're very deep when they catch that, but I think there's a lot more room there than we think. But I think if uh >> we were at some other parks like maybe Bellingham or or you know, some places like that that could have been a home run. >> Yeah. >> Seemed like he got just a bit under it. Very high. >> Yes. >> Allowed the left fielder to get there as Connory bats and swings through the first pitch. >> He's 0 for one. Yeah, that was a nice off speed pitch that fooled him. >> We've slowly been seeing some better swings. Connory will hit that one to DJ at second base. Two away. >> Come on, let's go.
Uh step one, we increased the activity fee revenue estimate. So, not not increasing activity fees, but increasing the revenue projection, 150,000. There is a slight reduction to elementary late bussing from four to three days per week. That will save 50,000. Um and those buses will run every day that extracurriculars run. So, that means that the extracurriculars will be three days a week as well for elementary. Um the um um that still does though, based on our data and from districts around the county, um maintain a very robust, by comparison a very robust, um extracurricular programming here in Evesham compared to districts countywide. Um eliminate one an additional elementary gen ed teaching position through class size. That's one position. Um utilize one-time revenue source, out-addition out-of-district tuition credit, 168,000, and then break due to retirements since March 19th tentative budget, uh 37,000, brings us to 505,000, our alternate pathway.
Any questions? All right. Next, student support, member Kelly. All right. Uh meeting began with an update on the strategic framework goals related to chronic absenteeism and discipline. Mr. Roando reviewed the progress made this year on the chronic absenteeism rate with a projected four to five point reduction by the end of the year if current attendance trends continue. Dr. Carr shared details about the digital h hall pass system that was piloted to Andrew High School this semester. An analysis analysis of the pilot uh includes very positive staff feedback and points to moving forward with district-wide implementation next school year. Mr. Ovano will provide an overview of the consolidated district plan and Stag High School's title one schoolwide plan for 2627. These plans are submitted annually to the Illinois State Board of Education as part of the federal grant application process and require board approval. The grants that will be applied for include title one, two, three, four, and IDA flow through.
Um uh and again it's it's this is where everything's headed. Um so why fight the system? Um so that's basically it long and short. Again I would get into this fun stuff here but uh it's it yeah it gets a little too intense for me quite honestly. >> I think the cover page was adequate to explain. >> Thank you. Much much appreciated. >> At least it was for me. Yeah. Speak for everybody. Thank you. So, so with that, um, you know, like I said, I think we had the other areas covered. We presented this this information uh to the board. Um, again, we're not sure exactly how much more we can do um to satisfy the concerns of the board. I think the documentation presented uh pretty much speaks for itself. Um, so with that said, I I would like to open up questions to the board and I'm going to I'll tell you I'm going to do my best to respond to this.
>> Looking to avoid striking out for the second time and he does. >> High fast ball from Price. And Bradica swings through it. That is strikeout number seven after five. Again, the placement there by Price, you know, a couple of pitches down and inside like getting the inside edge um >> for strikes and then for the third strike going h, you know, high top of the um box and away catches that corner and it's just it's very tough for a batter to be able to get all over the place. >> A couple words here now between the umpire and the Norton coach for some reason. >> The Ashland first base coach. >> Ashlin first base coach. >> I don't know if he's complaining about uh >> balls and strikes, but that's the last thing you want to complain about during the game. >> Yeah, >> I think it just makes the umpire dig in a little bit uh to what they were doing.
>> So, another couple quick outs. He had two pitches and two outs to start the uh third inning. Only about >> three pitches, four pitches for the first two outs here. Grady Clark will bat next. >> And take a strike. Clark's for one. >> The only good thing about the outs, I guess, is, you know, they're making contact, so you know, the balls are getting put in play like that one. Wow, what a >> he just puts it into the glove of the shortstop. A nice play there by John Salem. And that was a wicked fast inning for Ben Price. All three batters put the ball in play. They sent him right to the defense and we go to the fifth. Game's flying by. Four to one Lancers. >> That was a nice play there by the Norton uh shortstop. He was playing in the right position.
Other steps, and these are um >> [clears throat] >> have been in prior slides, prior presentations, right? These are things we um continue to do. I just want to highlight like um the school resource officer shared service agreement with Evesham Township. We're grateful for that, um as they take on the full cost of that very valued program. And support um the presentation will put This will be posted on our website tomorrow. That link there goes to the testimony that I referenced earlier in this meeting that sparked about a 20-minute live conversation in the you know former state Supreme Court in Trenton with the state assembly who were listening and acknowledge that you know something has to be done. So and hopefully soon. Um suggestion box lid tossed aside. Um you know we've been in this position for years. Um the additional tax levy increase was so important this year to prevent more red on this this slide would have been multiple slides were it not for that additional tax levy.
Dr. Carr shared minor updates to the parent student handbook that are based on recent changes to board policies as well as recommendations from the Illinois Principles Association model student handbook. These updates keep the district compliant with changes in Illinois law and state board of education requirements. Mr. Drovano also described the recent English learners program monitoring visit conducted by ISBY's multilingual department. The district was found to be compliant with more than threequarters of the reviewed components and corrective actions for the remaining components have been approved. The district was commended for its strong use of data systems to drive continuous improvement of EL programming. The committee also reviewed the spring spring panorama seal survey results that showed a slight improvement over results from both last spring and fall. Anticipated changes to the survey aimed at improving readability and accessibility were also discussed. Finally, Dr. Noling provide an update on several state legislative proposals, including changes to pair professional licensing requirements, a potential cell phone ban, and a potential requirement for direct instruction in social emotional learning.
It's not my area of expertise, but whatever I know uh I will respond. It's interesting before I go here. I saw a can't recall if it was on the national news, but there was a a new clothing company that was actually using products and the question came up about PAS and they were using products to to make their clothes and I know my understanding I mean I'm I'm not I don't make clothing so but I understand that there are a lot of clothing out there that have pas in it and I guess the the levels of of the plastic or whatever they were using was higher than normal. Um, which I just found pretty interesting and it came you know within a week after that that last meeting that we had. But that's just a sidebar.
And cuz, you know, depending upon how you say it, you you start yelling at somebody and that's, you know, forget it. You're not going to convince them. Have a respectful conversation. Maybe something will happen. >> Price will lead it off at the plate after a good inning on the mound. >> Yeah. >> Top of the six. So Hash might have a couple more uh opportunities, try to get back up a little bit while at the same time we have Norton uh you know trying to put a lot more runs on the board here. >> As you said too, you know, you know, the way MIAA rankings work, run differential is important. So you know, you do want to win, but you also want to see how many runs you can get up on the board to >> improve your your rankings. >> Definitely. So Connory will get back to work.
He was like cheating a little bit over towards second base which is kind of where that ball was hit. He was playing deep and he, you know, backpedled a couple of steps, took a jump and was able to get to that ball. Um if he was playing more over towards uh third base, he may not have been able to get to that. So, you know, good good anticipation for him. >> Uh, determining where to go to make that a one, two, three inning for the Clockards. >> Another quick rest for Bratica as he's right back out there. But he has settled in the last couple innings after the uh first first couple he threw four total runs, but a couple scoreless in a row. to continue that. >> Yeah, first inning was tough and then he's, you know, just looked a lot better. He he he looked good during the first inning.
I am grateful for our board for our community for that additional levy. It is our mission for kids. We look at this mission statement. That tax levy helps us achieve that mission. So thank you to everyone for that. Questions? Thank you. >> I just want to clarify one thing that you said about curriculum and the added cost for the math curriculum. You stated that it's a new math program. I just want to clarify that it's an update to the current program, right, Danny? The newest edition. Okay, I just want to Right. Okay, I just wanted to clarify that for the people listening that it's not a new program cuz I think a revised edition to what we are currently using. Any other questions on the budget from board members? No? I have a question as I always do. Mr. Yates, you talked about the um Burlington County Jeff.
Uh the next meeting will be on May 12th. Any questions? All right. Next, building and finance, member Saratory. Thank you. So, we began the meeting with Dr. Noline discussing the strategic framework for teacher retention. Um and the item on that we basically uh talked about was the fact that the current calculation takes into effect uh teacher retirements which tends to skew that calculation. Uh so there was a discussion about the possibility of trying to adjust that that calculation in the future. Um and we've got about 20 retirements coming up in the next three years. Um we then reviewed the facility updates uh including the HVAC and roofing preconstruction work um plan work on the uh restroom renovations. Um and then we reviewed a plan for generating revenue for the Andrew scoreboard and what potential options we may have. Uh part of the plan is to determine how much revenue can be generated from that scoreboard to determine whether or not we can put the same two scoreboards at stag and Samberg and that they can be self uh financially supporting.
But again, Madam Chair, any questions uh by the board? We'll entertain uh trying to answer it to the best of our ability. >> Uh any questions from the board? Um, so just to just to confirm from our discussion last time that on the um the fill um the fill descriptions that we reviewed, one was a hybrid infill and one was the TPE infill. This this project would be looking at the hybrid infill. >> Correct, Madam Chair. >> Okay. [snorts] And I assume much of that is based just on on cost versus the TP system. >> Well, yeah, I think so. I think so. I think it's based on cost and I think it's obviously a much better alternative to what many fields out there uh still have um for that. You know, it's interesting because when Roger had had commented about how much things have changed over the last five years, um I just go back to a couple of the the fields that were constructed for the local high school in my town and the middle school.
>> Price will dig in >> in the two- hole. So two, three, and four >> duo. He's one for three. Scored a run earlier. >> Conry is ready with the first pitch. And that's a pop off >> into center. Oh, that one's way back there. And Laro can't get it. It's over his head. >> What a >> Price will take the turn and hold at second. And Laro is down there on his knees in center field. Uh hope he's all right. >> He he turned around very awkwardly trying to get to that ball. That was one of the deepest balls I've seen hit in center field here. And Laro had to kind of run to his right >> while he's watching the ball and turn around and try to get it and then he did fall awkwardly. For a second off the bat, I thought it was just a routine popup, but obviously from this vantage point, it's tough to judge where a ball was going to go, but that one just kept carrying out there.
I think he was just getting the balls right down the middle and um Norton was, you know, smart to jump out on that and just take advantage of it and the balls just land, you know, were hitting the gaps. >> Face the heart of the lineup. It's four, five, and six. Caldwell, Irish, and Lison. Caldwell's one for two. >> Drove home and run and scored. >> What's Norton's record? I think MIA showed Norton was like three and three wins and seven losses on the year. >> On uh game changer, it says four and seven. So >> four. Okay. So they must have won the game during the week. A lot of it though is, you know, it's tough when you look at the records because a lot of it depends on who you've played. >> Yeah. >> You know, like Ashlin has played some. >> That one's about straight back.
I didn't I didn't hear what you said. Are we getting a dividend? Do we We don't always get a dividend. I didn't hear what you said about that one particular topic. Yes, ma'am. We received a dividend um and we're using that to offset premiums and bear with me one moment. I'll tell you exactly what it is. $39,318. And uh last year was $39,401. Okay. Another question. You talked about that state health benefits plan and then now the actuary came back and said, "Really, we need another 17%." Is that like June July 1? I don't I'm confused about that. >> No, they they can't mid-year increase the premiums. I shouldn't say they can't, it's the state. They seem to do whatever they want, but um it's not our expectation that mid-year they will increase premiums. We expect that to be baked into the January renewal. Okay, so in the January renewal they we should expect >> Yeah.
Uh so we will see how the uh generation of revenue happens for Andrew. Um we then reviewed the finance and treasures report uh noting that we are a little behind last year in the generation of local revenue. This is uh notably due to the fact that uh our tax bills came out late and were paid late and the receipt of funds came late. Uh so we are starting to catch up now. Uh we still have not been able to uh reinvest a lot of the our funds back into our investment account. Um, but we're hoping that we're going to get there quite soon and build that portfolio back up. Um, we also reviewed bids for office supplies, bond paper, PE uniforms, and aquatics. All those are in the consent agenda as well as uh the annual approval of a deposiitories for our district funds. Um we then had a uh discussion regarding the recent insurance committee meeting uh which had an emphasis on health insurance.
Um and it's it it is that rubber, you know, it's interesting. I I see that I saw it go down. Um and like I said, and that was five, seven years ago, 10 years ago for the high school. Um which I find interesting. and how much things have evolved. So again, I think there's it's it's twofold, Madam Chair. I think cost is obviously a factor and then secondly, I think it's this is the way things are going. Um and then again, certainly the the input from the board um is certainly a factor as well. I mean, we ideally we'd like to come out of this with an approval. Um, and I think that, you know, what my my experience is, you need to work with boards and commissions to get things approved. You know, don't buck it. Don't buck the trend. Um, so you work with them.
Laro did give it a good effort, but it was a very awkward position that he attempted to make the play in. And uh coach Messer now out in center field. We'll see if he's all right. a lot of guys on the bench in case, but it looks like looks like he'll be all right. >> Yeah, he's running to his right and he catches with his left hand and trying to get his left hand up and around running that way and the ball was hit very high and we have a very uh over, you know, overcast day. So, it makes it really hard to see the ball up in the sky, especially when it's hit that high. >> Center field is one of the toughest positions that you can play. I mean, you're out there with a ton of real estate. You're not playing a a a foul line.
